:03:01. > :03:04.at some of the other Olympic venues to see how preparations are going
:03:05. > :03:10.ahead of South Korea's biggest sporting event since the World Cup
:03:11. > :03:14.in 2002. And we will reminisce about a moment which put snowboarding on

:03:27. > :03:31.it's not just the race is getting their first look at the Olympic
:03:32. > :03:38.track, Graham Bell has been inspecting the track and it has
:03:39. > :03:42.brought back a few memories. Of the five Olympic Games I competed in,
:03:43. > :03:47.none of them were regular stops on the World Cup tour which is why
:03:48. > :03:51.these test events are so important. It comes down to fighting it out
:03:52. > :03:55.medals and everyone has a similar level of experience on the track,
:03:56. > :03:57.maybe that is why so many of the men's downhill Abby won by surprise
:03:58. > :04:16.winners. -- are wonderful by. This course designed by the 1972
:04:17. > :04:24.Olympic downhill champion. We have one rule, it is 800 metres vertical.
:04:25. > :04:29.But aside from that, you have to find the right difficulty, jumps,
:04:30. > :04:34.turns, speed, whatever. The balance of that makes the course interesting
:04:35. > :04:40.and good. It was a question of finding the mountain. Yes, we had a
:04:41. > :04:43.lot of problems finding out and which was 800 vertical metres. This
:04:44. > :04:52.was one of the only ones which was feasible. How does the course
:04:53. > :04:59.compare to the one you won on in 1972? You are right, this could be
:05:00. > :05:02.close to it. I forgot! When you have a course like this course inspection
:05:03. > :05:07.is really important, the racers will get an hour and a half to study
:05:08. > :05:12.every single lump, bump, turn and jump. There's a lie shisha and is
:05:13. > :05:17.the key, but it is more than what it looks like, you have to imagine how
:05:18. > :05:21.it would feel when you ski it. You will go down a section and remember
:05:22. > :05:27.it, remember how it will be so that when you get to the bottom you have
:05:28. > :05:31.the whole thing in your head. It all looks rather different at 80 mph
:05:32. > :05:36.which is why there are always two training runs before the big day.
:05:37. > :05:38.However I only get one shot at it. Beautiful view from the top of the
:05:39. > :05:39.course. As you go out the start pretty much
:05:40. > :05:42.get straight into a really Just have to try and get the speed
:05:43. > :05:53.to carry on to this first jump. Setting up now for
:05:54. > :06:10.the panorama turn. That brings you down
:06:11. > :06:16.towards jump three. Not much imagination
:06:17. > :06:19.in the naming of these jumps! Heading down now towards
:06:20. > :06:31.the Blue Dragon Valley. Come over a little rise,
:06:32. > :06:34.and you enter this gully. Bursting out of Blue
:06:35. > :06:38.Dragon Valley and heading Can see the Magic Tree
:06:39. > :06:47.on the left of the course. All of these turns, you have to be
:06:48. > :06:50.so precise on your edge. Well, you really cannot afford
:06:51. > :07:04.to make any mistakes on that course. Because it just keeps
:07:05. > :07:07.turning all the way down. There is some massive air,
:07:08. > :07:20.particularly on the last jump. There are quite a lot of turns, the
:07:21. > :07:25.jumps are big but right now on the right side of big which means it is
:07:26. > :07:30.spectacular but still safe. I am sure that they must do something
:07:31. > :07:39.different because downhill, you must go 130, 140, 150, 160. Here when you
:07:40. > :07:45.see the speed it is 96. The jumps are OK but the speed is not OK. It
:07:46. > :07:51.is good to come somewhere where the sun is out. It's about time. Very
:07:52. > :07:57.mixed reviews from the racers, what is your opinion? To be brutally
:07:58. > :08:02.honest this is the easiest course since Sarajevo 84 that I raced when
:08:03. > :08:07.I was 18. They could make it more difficult if the injected with water
:08:08. > :08:10.and make it bumpier and straight the line but by making it faster they
:08:11. > :08:16.will make it shorter and you could come in at less than a minute and a
:08:17. > :08:20.half. I would rather have something which is short and fast under test
:08:21. > :08:23.than what we have right now. Constructive criticism is one thing
:08:24. > :08:29.but it will take a positive mental attitude to win rather than
:08:30. > :08:36.negativity. You can only race what you are put up against. Christoph
:08:37. > :08:41.likes the downhill to be steep and icy and dangerous and this is not
:08:42. > :08:47.that. Whoever wins today how much of a boost for that be in terms of
:08:48. > :08:56.confidence? It will help but two years is a long time in ski racing.
:08:57. > :09:03.There are a couple of racers out who I think in two years' time will be a
:09:04. > :09:12.threat on the course. Big vacancy at the top of the podium. It was filled
:09:13. > :09:17.last week by his Norwegian team-mate Alexander but I am not sure this
:09:18. > :09:26.course will suit him. I think the threat will come from the Italians
:09:27. > :09:30.again. Always the Italians! The odds-on favourite has had bad luck
:09:31. > :09:33.this season, a lot of weather problems but the weather is good and
:09:34. > :09:40.he's won bought the training runs so it could be time for his luck to
:09:41. > :09:48.turn. Time for the maiden running of the PyeongChang downhill.
:09:49. > :09:57.COMMENTATOR: This is the first test event. Trying to
:09:58. > :10:24.Flies miles off the second jump, winding the windows down. He has got
:10:25. > :10:42.the red light. Winding his way down this Olympic
:10:43. > :10:50.track. Another huge flight from the Austrian.
:10:51. > :11:02.Nice in a dynamic position. -- aerodynamic.
:11:03. > :11:09.He is faring well because he's got the green light.
:11:10. > :11:15.Skiing the bottom half of the track beautifully well.
:11:16. > :11:29.Still has the green light. But it's going to be desperately close. Can
:11:30. > :11:33.he take the lead? He can! Able to pick up speed on the low part of the
:11:34. > :11:38.course, cutting off the line on the right-hander as he came past magic
:11:39. > :11:39.tree and that was the difference. Went a shorter route, took some
:11:40. > :11:52.risks and it paid off. The overall World Cup champion in
:11:53. > :11:59.2009, 2000 ten. Three World Cup downhill wins to his name. The last
:12:00. > :12:09.six years ago. He's been on the podium this season. Third a couple
:12:10. > :12:13.of weeks ago. He is going well. The right side of the clock. Nice and
:12:14. > :12:35.tidy off the second jump. Again through the bumpy Traverse. He
:12:36. > :12:39.is one 100th of a second inside the time of the leader. Can Switzerland
:12:40. > :12:53.take it away from Austria? Just asked to check a little bit up
:12:54. > :13:01.to the right-hand side. The time is still good. Not much to choose
:13:02. > :13:07.between the top down hurlers in the world at the moment.
:13:08. > :13:26.Still green. Going to have to be clean off the last jump. Just
:13:27. > :13:31.outside! I think the difference was the way he took the last jump. Not
:13:32. > :13:35.compact enough in the air and that can make the difference, those small
:13:36. > :13:41.things can cost you hundreds of a second and that was the difference.
:13:42. > :13:53.The youngest of the attacking the Vikings is a talented footballer.
:13:54. > :14:08.Coming off the back of his maiden downhill win last weekend. He has
:14:09. > :14:13.lost his ski! Loses the left, but what strength to stay on his feet.
:14:14. > :14:19.Shaking his head but that is a heart stopping moment for the youngster.
:14:20. > :14:28.Showing his strength and balance to stand up on one leg in perhaps the
:14:29. > :14:31.toughest section of the course. He did not have as much weight as he
:14:32. > :14:36.perhaps should have done on his outside ski when it came off but
:14:37. > :14:41.binding should not be coming off like that. It is a toss-up between
:14:42. > :14:45.doing it too tight and they don't release in a crash or having them
:14:46. > :14:55.loose and that sometimes happens. It is part of the sport. The American
:14:56. > :15:01.to go. Six World Cup downhill podium is to his name. Three wins, 2006,
:15:02. > :15:41.2011 and 20 14. Had a big jump OfficeMax is bumpy
:15:42. > :15:46.traverse and deals with it well. Lovely skiing. He is poor for and
:15:47. > :15:59.three of a second inside the time of his rival. Lovely skiing from Nyman,
:16:00. > :16:15.looking nice and compact. Not the quickest into Blue Dragon Valley but
:16:16. > :16:21.the clock says he is inside the time of Striedinger. He's got every
:16:22. > :16:27.chance to take the lead, a slight mistake before the finish but has he
:16:28. > :16:32.done enough to overtake Striedinger? He has!
:16:33. > :16:41.Nyman taking the lead, not the best technical skier, key can make some
:16:42. > :16:48.turns and yet look horrendous, but what he does well is, he stays loose
:16:49. > :17:00.and relaxed and does nothing to slow down. This course is perfect for
:17:01. > :17:06.somebody with his skills. The first of the top skiers leaves the start
:17:07. > :17:12.at. Already a winner on the World Cup this season in downhill. He won
:17:13. > :17:28.the Santa Catarina Downhill and he's quick at the top. He's inside the
:17:29. > :17:34.time of Stephen Nyman. The Frenchman skiing nicely. Gets a little untidy
:17:35. > :17:48.off the jump, winding down the windows. Could that affect his split
:17:49. > :17:54.at intermediate three? 54.3 is the time he missed a beat. It has not
:17:55. > :18:02.affected him too much, two 100th of a second. Almost carrying the entire
:18:03. > :18:11.slope and landing on the flat, Theaux. Into Blue Dragon Valley. The
:18:12. > :18:19.next split coming as he exits. He is now outside the time by just over
:18:20. > :18:29.one quarter of a second. Work to be done by Theaux in the closing turns.
:18:30. > :18:36.He has lost another one tenth of a second. I don't think it's going to
:18:37. > :18:42.be his day here in Korea. And he's outside by one quarter of a second.
:18:43. > :18:50.Theaux just a little too hard on his edges in that right-hander after you
:18:51. > :18:55.come past Magic Tree. The second last turn on the course. He's a good
:18:56. > :18:57.technical skier but he likes it when the course is steeper than this. You
:18:58. > :19:17.must be so precise on this course. Dominik Paris leaving be start hut.
:19:18. > :19:21.He came fourth in the end. His last podium on the downhill came last
:19:22. > :19:37.season when he came second in the last of his three downhill wins was
:19:38. > :19:41.at Lake Louise back in 2013. He does a good job on the terms, clatters
:19:42. > :19:52.the control gate and runs a little wide as a result. He got pushed a
:19:53. > :19:59.little low on that bumpy traverse. He is 61 hundredths of a second
:20:00. > :20:10.wrong side of a clock, still a possibility for Paris but there is
:20:11. > :20:20.work to be done. Into this icy chute they call Bessemer Micro. He hasn't
:20:21. > :20:26.-- they call Blue Dragon Valley. He hasn't enjoyed the bottom part of
:20:27. > :20:35.this downhill track. He's got a bit of time back, will it be enough? Can
:20:36. > :20:46.Dominik Paris take it away from my Mum! Pick-up! Excellent skiing! .
:20:47. > :20:50.You can he take it away from Nyman? That was excellent skiing, difficult
:20:51. > :20:55.to say where he picked it up, he's very loose and relaxed, and in this
:20:56. > :20:57.turns after the Magic Tree he was able to gain a little extra speed
:20:58. > :21:09.and carry that to the line. In the start-up is the Olympic
:21:10. > :21:21.champion, you've got to feel for his team-mate, even with the champion
:21:22. > :21:24.outcome he still gets beaten. Jansrud's home form has been dodgy
:21:25. > :21:31.but don't write him off, he's looking to put down a marker on this
:21:32. > :21:38.new slope. The Norwegian, Jansrud, leaving the start hut. Last year's
:21:39. > :21:42.downhill champion coming he has five downhill wins to his name, the last
:21:43. > :21:52.game in America at the end of last season. Two podiums this season and
:21:53. > :22:02.he's quick at the top, Jansrud. Set the fastest times in training. The
:22:03. > :22:06.quickest was 1.41.1 eight. Anything near that and he'll have a chance of
:22:07. > :22:14.the first victory of the season. Lovely off the jump, so compact. He
:22:15. > :22:22.hasn't had the best of luck in the last couple of downhills. He got
:22:23. > :22:26.done by the weather, and then there snow came to slow down the track and
:22:27. > :22:35.another time he had to wait while his friend was picked out of the
:22:36. > :22:45.nets. He hasn't been on top form but here in Korea he seems to have got
:22:46. > :22:54.his mojo back. The clock in join his skiing. Paris's time, Jansrud is
:22:55. > :23:01.just inside the time of the Italian. Could this be yet another Norwegian
:23:02. > :23:05.victory on the men's World Cup? They have dominated the World Cup this
:23:06. > :23:15.year, Norway. And Jansrud is looking good to set the fastest time. Oh,
:23:16. > :23:20.yes! 0.2 of a second inside. Great skiing from Jansrud. He pretty much
:23:21. > :23:25.put his sticks under his arms and held on all the way through these
:23:26. > :23:30.technical turns, he was tucking and yet still very clean and relaxed.
:23:31. > :23:44.Brilliant in the air and through the turns. That will be a tough time to
:23:45. > :23:52.beat. The Italian is a veteran yet puts down his success to getting
:23:53. > :24:04.married. Peter Phil is the next to leave the start hut.
:24:05. > :24:10.His second World Cup downhill win, his first was at Lake Louise back in
:24:11. > :24:24.November 2000 and eight. A big-time gap. -- in November 20 08. He was
:24:25. > :24:30.second in the first downhill of this season in Lake Louise but he isn't
:24:31. > :24:36.enjoying race day here in Korea. He said the second-fastest time in
:24:37. > :24:48.training, and he is going to have to go faster than that to overtake
:24:49. > :24:51.Jansrud. 0.79, surely that is too much for Peter Fill to claw back on
:24:52. > :24:59.the bottom half of this Olympic downhill track?
:25:00. > :25:07.The speed gun is kind to him going into Blue Dragon Valley. You can see
:25:08. > :25:12.the green light. What does it do to his time? Not a great deal because
:25:13. > :25:24.he is still three quarters of a second off the pace of Jansrud.
:25:25. > :25:30.1.31.6, the last time check we have before the finish. And Fill winds
:25:31. > :25:35.down the windows of the last jump. It won't be his day.
:25:36. > :25:42.Peter Fill not happy with fourth place. That shows how well he's
:25:43. > :25:45.skiing. He just didn't get the speed going from the start and did not
:25:46. > :25:53.carry the speed from the steep section down to the lower, flat
:25:54. > :25:57.parts of the course. This was lightning bolt is back from injury
:25:58. > :26:02.and has been on the podium twice in recent weeks. He won the test event
:26:03. > :26:12.before the Sochi Olympics four years ago, could lightning strike twice?
:26:13. > :26:17.Feuz from Switzerland is next. Only his fourth downhill in the World Cup
:26:18. > :26:31.this year. He comes back from injury although he has been pretty
:26:32. > :26:35.impressive. He was 11th in Wengen. He has had three World Cup wins in
:26:36. > :26:44.his career, the last one was at such a before the last Winter Olympics.
:26:45. > :26:53.But the last one was at Sochi. He won't want his time to grow if he
:26:54. > :27:00.can help it. Celebrating his birthday next Friday, can he give
:27:01. > :27:08.himself an early birthday present and find a podium finish in Korea?
:27:09. > :27:11.Probably not because 0.82 is a massive gap and Feuz has got a lot
:27:12. > :27:20.of work to do on the bottom half of this downhill track if he is to
:27:21. > :27:28.claw-back that time. Not bad into the Blue Dragon Valley. And he's
:27:29. > :27:39.clawed a little bit of time back on Jansrud but still a lot of work for
:27:40. > :27:45.the Swiss racer to do. 1.31.6, at the last time check, now the gap is
:27:46. > :27:52.0.4 nine. Can Feuz find speed on the last pitch to make the podium? He
:27:53. > :27:56.can't. He goes fifth. An interesting jump from Feuz, slightly twisting in
:27:57. > :28:01.the air, you didn't panic and still had his hands tucked behind his
:28:02. > :28:06.knees. It was slightly sideways on as he landed and then straight on
:28:07. > :28:13.his edges and into the turn, great skiing. Jansrud takes his first
:28:14. > :28:24.downhill cup win of the season. Season best finishes also for Paris
:28:25. > :28:28.and Nyman. Norway keep winning! Amazing.
:28:29. > :28:36.It's good to keep the Norwegian tradition and get another win. What
:28:37. > :28:42.must you do to be fast on the course? It's of course you must be
:28:43. > :28:45.clever on. There's a lot of to rain and you have to know what direction
:28:46. > :28:50.you are going in, you have to be really loose and clean on the edge.
:28:51. > :28:56.But you can be dynamic and generate speed which is nice because it is
:28:57. > :29:03.super responsive, clean snow. How are you enjoying Korea? It's a lot
:29:04. > :29:09.of fun, actually. It exceeds my expectations. People have been super
:29:10. > :29:13.nice to me. I went into town the other day, me, and another guy who
:29:14. > :29:18.is taller than me and it was kind of funny with small doors, we towered
:29:19. > :29:25.over everyone! Just kind of learning the ways, exploring the markets and
:29:26. > :29:29.the food. It's pretty fun. Norway have never won and Olympic men's
:29:30. > :29:35.downhill, is it too early to write Norway on the gold medal? I think
:29:36. > :29:40.it's too early. It is two years, a lot can happen. I would rather have
:29:41. > :29:47.this funny bad run through so I'm happy with today. And rather have
:29:48. > :29:55.this than a bad run through. Thank you. A dominant victory in the
:29:56. > :30:06.women's downhill yesterday. The World Cup leader Lindsay Yvonne won.

:30:11. > :30:16.Billie Morgan of Britain took an excellent fifth in Innsbruck with
:30:17. > :30:24.his final jump. His Canadian rival took the win. At the aerial skiing

:30:56. > :30:58.We thought we would take a look around and see how the other venues
:30:59. > :31:14.are shaping up. Welcome to the PyeongChang official
:31:15. > :31:26.venue tour. We are going to the venue for all be extreme sports. The
:31:27. > :31:31.freestyle venue, come on. First impressions this is a very good
:31:32. > :31:35.venue, you have the slopes up here which will be converted just as they
:31:36. > :31:40.were in Russia into the ski cross and snowboard cross track then you
:31:41. > :31:45.have got next door, and the half pipe, they all share the same finish
:31:46. > :31:49.area so you get a lovely amphitheatre which will be a great
:31:50. > :31:55.atmosphere. But all of this snow is artificial. They are making hundreds
:31:56. > :32:00.of tonnes of it and the size of this in front of us, it looks promising.
:32:01. > :32:05.Fingers crossed they can make some good snow for the half pipe. That
:32:06. > :32:13.will be key to the legacy because in Canada and Russia they wear low
:32:14. > :32:18.quality half pipes. This is probably where we will have our best shot at
:32:19. > :32:27.a medal, where all it's most likely come from? Billie Morgan in
:32:28. > :32:34.slopestyle. Katie Ormerod is rarely starting to hit her stride. So much
:32:35. > :32:41.strength in the British freestyle team, it is really exciting.
:32:42. > :32:47.We visited Vancouver and Russia in the build-up to the games they are
:32:48. > :32:51.and it is the same for every host city, a vast amount of
:32:52. > :32:55.infrastructure needs to be built. Roads, tunnels and bridges. When you
:32:56. > :33:04.see the work like this you realise how much there is to be done in
:33:05. > :33:10.solid full-time. -- in so little time. A new event for 2018 is the
:33:11. > :33:13.snowboard big air but they have not put it with the other events in
:33:14. > :33:20.Gangneung, they have put it that the ski jump venue. They will use the
:33:21. > :33:28.landing held for the Enron. -- in run. Billie Morgan was the first
:33:29. > :33:31.person to land a quadruple Cork rotation last year and with that in
:33:32. > :33:39.his arsenal he is a definite contender for an Olympic medal here
:33:40. > :33:43.in 2018. At the sliding Centre is an event Britain excels, since its
:33:44. > :33:49.reintroduction in 2002 Britain has won a medal in each of the skeleton
:33:50. > :33:53.events. All eyes will be on Lizzie Arnold to see if she can become the
:33:54. > :34:02.first person to claim back-to-back Olympic titles. Other new venues are
:34:03. > :34:09.the spur need skating oval and a short track and bigger skating
:34:10. > :34:20.arena. Ice-skating is big business in South Korea.
:34:21. > :34:29.The weight of expectation on the successors will be competing in this
:34:30. > :34:33.arena and will be huge. The majority of the host nations Olympic medals
:34:34. > :34:38.have come in short track speed skating so we can expect a great
:34:39. > :34:43.atmosphere. Hoping to spoil the party and make up for her trouble
:34:44. > :34:47.disappointment in 2014 will be Elise Christie who just became overall
:34:48. > :34:52.European short track speed skating champion. From the station to series
:34:53. > :34:58.about a five-minute drive and here to hear is about ten minutes. Time
:34:59. > :35:01.to show you one more venue, or at least pointed out, the Carling
:35:02. > :35:11.Centre is tucked away behind this football stadium -- curling centre.
:35:12. > :35:14.Plans are well underway but there was no mention on the tour of the
:35:15. > :35:23.environmental costs to the local area. Conservationists have said
:35:24. > :35:27.over 78 Hector 's of ancient forest was destroyed by the organisers have
:35:28. > :35:31.said they will plant more than a thousand trees. But the big question
:35:32. > :35:35.has to be Will there be an appetite for winter sport after the Olympics
:35:36. > :35:43.in a country which all Morrissey 's 37 centimetres of natural snow each
:35:44. > :35:49.winter? -- which only receives 37 centimetres. We have witnessed a lot
:35:50. > :35:55.of youngsters enjoying skiing and snowboarding. But the question is
:35:56. > :36:03.can it be as good as Calgary? Only time will tell. It is two years away
:36:04. > :36:08.but I'm already looking forward to PyeongChang 2018. The Winter
:36:09. > :36:11.Olympics are such a big event and the medals are so valuable because
:36:12. > :36:16.they are only available every four years. The winners are immortalised
:36:17. > :36:23.in history and the losers generally forgotten. But that is not always
:36:24. > :36:24.the case. We looked back at a game changing moment which happened ten
:36:25. > :36:42.years ago into them -- in Turin. Two of the most anticipated Olympic
:36:43. > :36:46.disciplines and for good reason as the ruthless and often chaotic
:36:47. > :36:53.battle for gold always proves. But it hasn't always been that way. Ten
:36:54. > :36:57.years ago at the 2006 games in Turin boardercross was a brand-new Olympic
:36:58. > :37:01.sport. Nobody knew what to expect and for some including the head of
:37:02. > :37:07.skiing 's governing body it was considered a joke. Over the double
:37:08. > :37:15.down, into the toilet bowl. But it had been around for a while, part of
:37:16. > :37:20.the X games since 1997. But it was not taken that seriously, it was the
:37:21. > :37:24.first time I had worked for the BBC and I was aware of just how
:37:25. > :37:29.different I was and the sports I was covering where. I wanted to do them
:37:30. > :37:37.justice, I was determined to see them succeed at the games. People
:37:38. > :37:45.started to take notice, how could you not? Boardercross was simple and
:37:46. > :37:50.spectacular. What a race! In the build-up to the women's final I
:37:51. > :37:54.thought it was a one horse race, I had mentally given away the gold
:37:55. > :37:58.already, the clear favourite who had won the X games three times in a row
:37:59. > :38:05.and demolished every race in the build-up to the final. I thought it
:38:06. > :38:09.was a race for solver. I was right, kind of. But my fears of it being a
:38:10. > :38:13.dull race could not be more around -- race for silver. -- could not be
:38:14. > :38:27.more wrong. Going to struggle to get the speed,
:38:28. > :38:36.looking very sure now to make it one, two, three for America. Going
:38:37. > :38:44.straight through the fence! Seemingly uncatchable as she comes
:38:45. > :38:48.through! This is a lap of honour! Drama! She is down! This is
:38:49. > :38:59.incredible! I can understand if you thought I
:39:00. > :39:03.was over the top in my commentary but you cannot prepare rehearse for
:39:04. > :39:08.a moment like that. I simply couldn't believe what I was seeing.
:39:09. > :39:14.She has thrown a gold medal away in the last hundred metres. It's not an
:39:15. > :39:18.overstatement to say that final change things for the freestyle
:39:19. > :39:22.disciplines. It was played over and over again and boardercross's
:39:23. > :39:28.success meant the Olympic family of freestyle discipline group. 2010 saw
:39:29. > :39:33.the introduction of ski cross and I think everyone remembers it impact.
:39:34. > :39:41.Then in 2014 we got slopestyle which gave Britain its first medal on
:39:42. > :39:44.snow. And now in 2018 we have the introduction of snowboarding big
:39:45. > :39:48.air. Across that span we have seen is now boarding go from something
:39:49. > :39:51.which was culturally on the margins, and niche, underground sport to
:39:52. > :39:57.something which is now mainstream in the extreme. For some this has come
:39:58. > :40:01.at the price of the sport 's identity but on the plus side there
:40:02. > :40:03.are millions of people who have taken up free skiing and
:40:04. > :40:08.snowboarding who would not have discovered them otherwise were it
:40:09. > :40:13.not for the Olympics. You would be forgiving thinking that would be the
:40:14. > :40:19.end of her career, how do you come back from a disappointment like
:40:20. > :40:24.that? She did, she won the X games again, her third in a row and won
:40:25. > :40:35.the World Championships last year. But there is still a gaping hole in
:40:36. > :40:42.what is an otherwise glittering CV, even if she comes to PyeongChang and
:40:43. > :40:44.wins which seems likely, she will always be the girl who threw away an
:40:45. > :40:53.Olympic gold. Before we go it is time for ski
:40:54. > :40:58.social and we will kick off with some of your videos. We have got
:40:59. > :41:09.lots of clips from different types of terrain.
:41:10. > :41:25.We have seen the youth coming to the fore. Barney aged just two.
:41:26. > :41:33.Jim and John, veteran is at the grand old age of seven. But watch
:41:34. > :41:41.out parents, these cute kids turn into grumpy teenagers. Oh my god, I
:41:42. > :41:50.hate you. I hated my brother as well. That is because he always beat
:41:51. > :41:54.you. We have had some questions, particularly about how this jump
:41:55. > :42:01.should have been landed. Wait forward! Lastly, what is meant when
:42:02. > :42:07.the ski instructor says Bend your ankles. What you try to do is flex
:42:08. > :42:13.board into the front of your books, I think about having a great town
:42:14. > :42:18.near you want to crush. Or think about it as using the joint between
:42:19. > :42:26.your foot and leg. Another question with the push on powder should he be
:42:27. > :42:30.ditching his day to day right? Retro boards are nostalgic, powder boards
:42:31. > :42:36.have their place but for ago capabilities. Great for building a
:42:37. > :42:41.clever but not as a daily ride. Amy wants to know how Slaven scares can
:42:42. > :42:45.get their hands down on the snow when the arm aching turns. They have
:42:46. > :42:52.got such angular movement in their hips that they are down like this.
:42:53. > :42:57.That gives them extra balance. Finally we have had an engagement on
:42:58. > :43:03.the slopes. Tom popping the question to Andrea. I like how she was still
:43:04. > :43:09.strapped into her snowboard. Quick getaway? Keep sending in your photos
:43:10. > :43:13.videos and questions. And fortunately that's all we have time
:43:14. > :43:18.for but we will be back in Europe next week for the women's downhill.
