:00:58. > :01:09.Everything about Sierra Nevada feels different. It is warm, really warm.
:01:10. > :01:14.What little snow that is close Orange tinted by sub Saharan sand.
:01:15. > :01:19.At first glance this place looks like something from another planet.
:01:20. > :01:24.When you see these giant courses chiselled into these mountains, the
:01:25. > :01:28.backdrop fades into insignificance. The riders will soon take centre
:01:29. > :01:34.stage, and elite group of athletes from all corners of the Earth. If
:01:35. > :01:36.they are to take gold here, their performances will have to be out of
:01:37. > :01:42.this world. Oh, brilliant stuff! My goodness
:01:43. > :02:00.gracious! Oh, it is beautiful. Hello and welcome to Sierra Nevada
:02:01. > :02:04.for the snowboard and ski freestyle World Championships. We have got a
:02:05. > :02:09.packed programme of action for you. There will be no shortage of
:02:10. > :02:13.creativity and skill on display. Plus we will have all of the mayhem
:02:14. > :02:18.from the snowboard and ski cross. With less than a year to go until
:02:19. > :02:22.Pyongchang, these athletes are looking to lay down their markers
:02:23. > :02:27.ahead of the winter and pics. That includes the British team. This is
:02:28. > :02:31.the stronger squad that GB Park and Pipe have sent to a Championships.
:02:32. > :02:41.For the competition got under way, Jenny went to capture with a few
:02:42. > :02:48.familiar faces. -- catch up. Here we are, ladies. Are you good? Yes,
:02:49. > :02:53.thank you. How was practise? Was it all right?
:02:54. > :03:05.I will show you my room. Probably not as tidy as I would have liked
:03:06. > :03:11.but we arrived late yesterday. What are you expecting from the contest?
:03:12. > :03:18.I would love to macro top fives. Slopestyle and I have two top fives
:03:19. > :03:23.in January. To keep that run going would be awesome. It would be the
:03:24. > :03:29.ultimate for me and I would be really happy with that. Where are
:03:30. > :03:33.the other guys? Billy is probably doing handstands. Jamie is next
:03:34. > :03:49.door. I will drag him outside make him do some yoga with. Yes! Jamie...
:03:50. > :03:54.Can we come in? Oh, it is locked. You smell really nice. I was
:03:55. > :03:59.wondering if you wanted to do some stretching with me. I am really bad
:04:00. > :04:07.at stretching. I thought we could do a bit of this and this. I think you
:04:08. > :04:12.need to do it anyway. It is not often you are in a ski resort and it
:04:13. > :04:23.is 20 degrees, tops are off and you are playing frisbee.
:04:24. > :04:37.Knees out. Now do it. There we go. I am doing quite well for an old bird.
:04:38. > :04:40.Not bad. The snowboard is already here, chilling and training in a
:04:41. > :04:46.couple of days, the skiers will arrive. Managing this programme is
:04:47. > :04:50.Leslie McKenna. I wanted to catch up with her to find out how everyone is
:04:51. > :04:57.feeling and how important the World Championship 's is to them. How does
:04:58. > :05:02.this event fit into the bigger picture? This is the event we have
:05:03. > :05:08.targeted, if you like, to do a good performance across the whole
:05:09. > :05:12.programme. It is considered one of the most important, if not the most
:05:13. > :05:20.important in a series of events. What would you like to see from the
:05:21. > :05:25.team at this event? We have had some brilliant results, podium positions,
:05:26. > :05:31.in both ski and snowboard. If they all had a good day, we would be
:05:32. > :05:35.loving it. A few days ago when we filmed that peace morale was
:05:36. > :05:41.sky-high. The very next day Katie Ormerod fell and fractured
:05:42. > :05:46.vertebrae. It is a huge shame for Katie. I know she will come back
:05:47. > :05:51.stronger. Our priority has always been the Winter Olympics now she can
:05:52. > :05:56.rest up and get some tricks in her bag. We will kick things off with
:05:57. > :06:00.the snowboard slopestyle. We decided to take a look at a course that is
:06:01. > :06:07.undoubtedly the most challenging and creative we have seen all winter.
:06:08. > :06:13.Slopestyle courses are traditionally linear. You have three rails and
:06:14. > :06:17.three jumps. Since the Olympic test event last year, things have become
:06:18. > :06:21.a lot more creative and challenging with the courses. This one is no
:06:22. > :06:27.exception. We have your first standard kicker, into this, a huge
:06:28. > :06:35.take-off. The more creative options on the side as the transition hits.
:06:36. > :06:39.This is the third feature. Two standard kicker is and in the
:06:40. > :06:44.middle, this. It is a ship's boiler. There is a kicker in the centre with
:06:45. > :06:48.an uphill gap onto the centre of this. With the speed you have to
:06:49. > :06:53.carry, it means you fly out of this into the landing was a bit is pretty
:06:54. > :06:58.intimidating. If you think that is intimidating or take a look at this,
:06:59. > :07:02.feature number four. A standard kicker but absolutely massive.
:07:03. > :07:07.Coming out of that huge kicker, you must control your speed really
:07:08. > :07:12.quickly. You are arriving at feature five, the rail garden. We have a
:07:13. > :07:17.multitude of options. The first is the central run, the gap into the
:07:18. > :07:22.Dragons Bay. On the right-hand side you have this flat bar. The centre
:07:23. > :07:28.is the long ball. On the right-hand side to have another flat part. Then
:07:29. > :07:32.the land in the Dragons and another kicker into the knuckle. These are
:07:33. > :07:39.just the right hand and central features. You have a high flat damn
:07:40. > :07:44.bar and a wide flat bar with a creeper row along the side and a
:07:45. > :07:48.cheeky flat bar. The top athletes will look at interlinking these
:07:49. > :07:54.features. The sixth and final feature is the most aesthetically
:07:55. > :07:58.pleasing. We have a gap from that kicker onto the Casa. There is a
:07:59. > :08:03.rail and you can ride onto the roof back onto the rail.
:08:04. > :08:13.You have this gap onto the terrace with a close-out rail. That is just
:08:14. > :08:19.the right hand side. On the left you have a huge gap to the high bar with
:08:20. > :08:23.a slight step down. Then there is the damn bar with a slight kink at
:08:24. > :08:30.the bottom. After all that, I think it is time for a cup of tea. This is
:08:31. > :08:40.the life. You do know that is a rail? Yeah, I knew that.
:08:41. > :08:48.OK, let's talk about the women's slopestyle finals. Amy Fuller did
:08:49. > :08:55.not make it through. Of the women who did, who has impressed you most?
:08:56. > :09:00.I think the Japanese rider for pure consistency and she is hard to beat.
:09:01. > :09:04.What about the young New Zealand rookie? I know put at this girl was
:09:05. > :09:11.incredible. She attacked the kickers like none of the other girls will
:09:12. > :09:14.was brilliant. She did not seem intimidated in the slightest. Let's
:09:15. > :09:19.take a look at the men. We have Billy Morgan into the final. He is
:09:20. > :09:23.the only Brit left into the final. He did not look that comfortable"
:09:24. > :09:27.the geisha but he has had more practice. We have had a bit of a
:09:28. > :09:31.date clash with the X Games in Oslo which means we do not have some of
:09:32. > :09:36.the big Canadian and Norwegian big names. That leaves this rising tide
:09:37. > :09:43.of rookies to make a name for themselves. The top rookie is the
:09:44. > :09:52.big kiwi. There are the one name I like the look of. You will hear a
:09:53. > :10:02.lot about him. This kid is on fire. Tim is your commentator.
:10:03. > :10:18.First up it is the men's final. The conditions are warm. What a picture
:10:19. > :10:26.that is! Goodness gracious! Billy Morgan, what can he do? He is a
:10:27. > :10:32.gymnast turned snowboard. This man is no stranger to going upside down.
:10:33. > :10:42.No stranger to a podium. A huge double flip to start things off.
:10:43. > :10:53.A front side double ten and he has gone too big on it.
:10:54. > :11:11.He has got core strength, like a silverback gorilla. He can get
:11:12. > :11:18.upside down off pretty much anything he has to. Let's start things off.
:11:19. > :11:33.Here is the Switch double. And foremost. Here is the front side.
:11:34. > :11:43.Front side ten. He could not clean it up. He had a triple cork.
:11:44. > :11:54.You are looking at a really good score. Coming out of whale tail the
:11:55. > :12:08.midsection. This kid knows how to snowboard. Let me tell you that. A
:12:09. > :12:14.goofy rider by trade. Sebbe, a big 900. The more you look at that jump,
:12:15. > :12:21.you more than you think it landed a bit flat. Double cripple. Well hell.
:12:22. > :12:33.I see landing with that. -- well held. That was a good run. They
:12:34. > :12:39.switched backside 1260. Back 12 from Sebbe. Three and a half rotation is
:12:40. > :12:51.both ways. Just gives you an indication as to the standard. These
:12:52. > :13:01.riders a 180 on an 270 off the top rail. Here is this double. Double
:13:02. > :13:05.crippler. Look at that ex-commissioner he was really
:13:06. > :13:15.straight. The moment your legs lock, you lose all control. Look at that!
:13:16. > :13:30.Easy. Nick Hooper, coming out Switzerland. So, to this first jump.
:13:31. > :13:40.-- Huber. Beautiful. He could not have done better. Cab 900. Front
:13:41. > :13:46.side 1080. He holds it. I really like this run. It is the triple.
:13:47. > :13:59.Here it is the all new leader. If you can get through these next two
:14:00. > :14:05.sections, 180 on. Hold it. Up now on to the roof of this house. Very
:14:06. > :14:12.nice. Not perhaps the best style on the front 360. He loves that. Look
:14:13. > :14:21.how long he is holding the grab for. Really nice front side 1080. Then
:14:22. > :14:32.the triple cork. Grabbing melon on it. Not many people grabbing melon.
:14:33. > :14:47.83.25. Keep your eyes peeled and prepared to watch something very
:14:48. > :14:55.special indeed. This kid is good. Is that a frontside 14? A switch by the
:14:56. > :15:02.way for them then is this which, backside nine. Another rookie that
:15:03. > :15:07.is really turning heads with the big triple cork. Upside down three times
:15:08. > :15:17.during that trip. Then a flat spin 14. Oh, my goodness! What a run!
:15:18. > :15:23.Backside rodeo off the A-frame rail. First rider we have seen hit that.
:15:24. > :15:31.Then switch into the damn bar. Then opposite way 360 off. He has to stop
:15:32. > :15:42.his inertia, stop the movement and spin the opposite way. The judges
:15:43. > :15:50.like that kind of thing. Two, three, four. 1440 triple cork. That was
:15:51. > :15:57.just a blur for me. Frontside 1440. Four four rotations. I do not think
:15:58. > :16:11.that will trouble the top spot. 82.5. So, Billy Morgan representing
:16:12. > :16:17.Great Britain. He can sometimes be perhaps a little pressure affected.
:16:18. > :16:26.You would not think it. Throwing out big cap doubles like that.
:16:27. > :16:30.Frontside... Oh, my goodness! He has over rotated it and that is the end
:16:31. > :16:40.of the World Championship is for Billy Morgan. The top three all
:16:41. > :16:44.failed to improve their scores at the second attempt, leaving them a
:16:45. > :16:54.touch disappointed with nervous wait in the finish area with the Belgian
:16:55. > :17:02.ready to drop. A lot of speed into this first jump. You need it. A very
:17:03. > :17:09.nice ten. 1080 the nose grab. Coming off the side of the 900. That is
:17:10. > :17:14.really nice. A good use of course. The judges will like that. Switch
:17:15. > :17:23.backside 1084 that this is what he wanted the first runaround. Into cab
:17:24. > :17:27.12. Yes! We could be looking at the new leader. He need some points
:17:28. > :17:34.through this section. Very nice. The final feature.
:17:35. > :17:51.180 on. Oh, that is good! Look at what it means to him! I think that
:17:52. > :17:56.is enough will stop the 1260 is absolutely tractor perfect. The
:17:57. > :18:02.angles were spot-on. The 450 out there again, very nice indeed. Look
:18:03. > :18:30.at that! Come on. A huge 91.4. So, Belgium's Sepe Schmid takes the
:18:31. > :18:35.gold. -- Seppe Smits. In their women's final, run by macro proved
:18:36. > :18:44.to be an anti-climax that all but one of the top riders failing to get
:18:45. > :18:56.a clean run. Plenty of room for improvement going into run two. Out
:18:57. > :19:08.of New Zealand she is 16 years of age. She should trouble the top
:19:09. > :19:15.spot. A very nice start to things. A frontside 360. This is good.
:19:16. > :19:21.Backside 360. Looks like she is just cleaning this run up a little bit.
:19:22. > :19:32.Under good instruction. Double backflip. Oh, yes, well held! This
:19:33. > :19:36.could be your new leader. Clean in the top section so far. Very nice.
:19:37. > :19:47.The cameraman is not happy with himself. Up onto that rail and the
:19:48. > :19:54.180 out. What a run! The 360 here with the new grab. Coming up a
:19:55. > :19:58.little bit short. She wants to be landing further damp or I think she
:19:59. > :20:04.will lose out on overall impression. For me, that was a bit Bon Jovi,
:20:05. > :20:15.living on a prayer. What have we got? It is huge. I have been made to
:20:16. > :20:32.look a right fool. 77.5. Karlee sure from Milford. -- Karly Shorr. Look
:20:33. > :20:37.at that! Beautiful. The 360 of the hip. Going nice and big. The judges
:20:38. > :20:44.want to see you going be. They want to see their tricks put down. Too
:20:45. > :20:49.big. What a shame! Stays in third place. She has now got a very
:20:50. > :21:00.nervous wait. There are two riders still to go. She will have to wait
:21:01. > :21:05.and see what Laurie Blouin does. Coming out of Canada, just 20 years
:21:06. > :21:13.of age. A big double flip. Well held! Goodness me. A switch double
:21:14. > :21:18.flip. This is looking really good. A little short on the landing.
:21:19. > :21:25.Throwing on the anchors, just trying to slow it down. I will tell you
:21:26. > :21:33.what, she needs a clean bottom section and she is on the podium.
:21:34. > :21:43.That was good. Look at her! She is happy with that. He is that switch
:21:44. > :21:51.double under flip. Into the back seat a little bit but she holds on.
:21:52. > :22:02.She needs bigger than a 68. 78. The new leader. Goodness gracious. She
:22:03. > :22:07.gets a hug from Karly Shorr. Well, she is happy with that. That came
:22:08. > :22:16.from absolutely nowhere. So, the final rider of the day. Needs a big
:22:17. > :22:21.run here. And she is going absolutely guns blazing at this. I
:22:22. > :22:27.think it will be too fast. She is flying at this first jump. A big 722
:22:28. > :22:31.starts. She does have the biggest bag of tricks out of these ladies
:22:32. > :22:37.were whether she has a double flip in Arsenal, I am not too sure.
:22:38. > :22:51.Switch now into this jump. Riding backwards. No grab on it.
:22:52. > :23:03.Backside lip slide. Getting the back foot over the rail. Onto the high
:23:04. > :23:08.box. A drop of the end and she is happy with that. I don't know how to
:23:09. > :23:16.call this. She very nearly went down there. That was a really nice
:23:17. > :23:23.backside 720. I thought she was going to fly to big on that jump.
:23:24. > :23:34.Here we have the cab 900. No grab on it. You have to be grabbing your
:23:35. > :23:38.snowboard. She is guaranteed bronze. 77.4, she does improve her score but
:23:39. > :23:47.not her position on the podium. There you go. We have a Canadian
:23:48. > :23:50.world champion. The action is coming thick and fast in Sierra Nevada.
:23:51. > :24:03.Snowboarding has dominated the first week of competition. The slate style
:24:04. > :24:08.is done and dusted. -- slopestyle. We do not have any riders in this
:24:09. > :24:15.competition. It is all about being exposed. This is a wonderfully
:24:16. > :24:21.technical event for that it is relatively easy to judge.
:24:22. > :24:31.Difficulty, execution, amplitude and learning. Amplitude is the height
:24:32. > :24:36.they get out of the pipe. Names to look out for are the Swiss and the
:24:37. > :24:43.young Australian, Scotty James. He has beaten Shaun White before. It
:24:44. > :24:48.happened in the Korean test event for that the half-pipe finals take
:24:49. > :24:54.place at night. As the sun sets on Sierra Nevada, time to get the final
:24:55. > :25:01.is under way. Time for the half-pipe final. Each person gets three runs
:25:02. > :25:13.were only the best school camps. The early run was set by the Finn. --
:25:14. > :25:15.squawk counts. A strong first round. Throwing down the gauntlet to his
:25:16. > :25:33.Australian rival. Mr Scotty James. The defending champion from 2015.
:25:34. > :25:43.Second place in the U.S. Open behind Shaun White. Absolutely
:25:44. > :25:51.stratospheric. Watch this! Absolutely huge start. Front side
:25:52. > :26:00.nine into the 1080. Huge double. Look how big he is going! Oh, my
:26:01. > :26:11.goodness! Four hits. What a run for Scotty James! Look at this! One,
:26:12. > :26:16.two, three. A 1260. Excuse me. Here we have the huge double. So much
:26:17. > :26:23.commitment on the trick. Get ready for the smile that can melt ice.
:26:24. > :26:33.95.70 five. I'm going to say that is untouchable. Run two saw strong
:26:34. > :26:40.performances from other competitors. The only person who looked like he
:26:41. > :26:48.could match Scotty James was the defending champion. A switch
:26:49. > :27:02.backside 14. A big double to start things off. Into 12, into a cab ten.
:27:03. > :27:06.Back-to-back tens now. Hold on! Oh, my goodness ex-commissioner how on
:27:07. > :27:13.earth did he land back. He cannot believe it. Look at him. He has
:27:14. > :27:22.dodged a bullet without a shadow of a doubt. Let's see this again. Look
:27:23. > :27:29.how high he goes! He lands right in the back-seat. He's somehow hold
:27:30. > :27:41.onto it. 93.20 five. Is knocking on Scotty James door. This is
:27:42. > :27:46.Australia's Scotty James. Grew up watching a female shredder who paved
:27:47. > :27:57.pathway for Australian snowboarders. Winning everything in her path.
:27:58. > :28:04.Huge! The backside 12. Beautiful to stop -- beautiful. Look how big the
:28:05. > :28:10.final hit is. It absolutely defies logic and science. Isaac Newton
:28:11. > :28:18.would be having kittens if he saw this. What a run! Eight double 1080
:28:19. > :28:23.at the bottom. Look how big the final Switch 1080 is excavation that
:28:24. > :28:31.he lands it perfect. 97.5 from Scotty James. That will take some
:28:32. > :28:43.beating. The gold and silver were sewn up but the bronze medal is up
:28:44. > :28:49.for grabs. Now for Pat. The front double 1080 to start things off into
:28:50. > :28:56.a switch double 1080. Nice and high at the transition. There is the
:28:57. > :29:03.1260. Backside 360. Blind the whole way round. Need to improve if he
:29:04. > :29:16.can. No switch backside 720. Really nice trick. Looking for the landing.
:29:17. > :29:22.Oh, look at that! 90.5. He improves on his score. Gets into the 90s but
:29:23. > :29:35.he does not challenge for first. The Japanese rider pushed close for
:29:36. > :29:39.bronze. Scotty James took a brilliant gold medal. In the women's
:29:40. > :29:48.final, the overwhelming favourite was the defending champion. Dropping
:29:49. > :29:55.before her was a Japanese woman. Let's see what she has here, hard
:29:56. > :30:00.across the pipe. A big 900 to start things off. The camera is going a
:30:01. > :30:06.bit while. Nice and tight on that shot. A front side seven. Switch
:30:07. > :30:16.now. Switch seven. Back-to-back sevens from her. Front side five.
:30:17. > :30:31.Into a back side five. Six hits for her down the pipe. It is enough for
:30:32. > :30:38.first place. 84.7 five. And, the defending champion out of China.
:30:39. > :30:44.The defending champion out of champion. A bit of a almost in the
:30:45. > :30:49.middle of that half-pipe. Straight back across. Big frontside five.
:30:50. > :30:56.Nearly over-rotates it. 5. 40.
:30:57. > :31:03.And a nice 7. 20 to finish things off.
:31:04. > :31:11.Held right at the top of that. This is now the third jump down. She
:31:12. > :31:18.lands perfectly at the top of the transition. Look
:31:19. > :31:27.The standard was set and the top two put water between themselves and the
:31:28. > :31:35.rest of the pack. The closest to them was the Japanese rider. The
:31:36. > :31:43.bronzed medal was there for the taking, going into run three.
:31:44. > :31:52.Grimal needs luck on her side. She's got everything else there.
:31:53. > :31:59.This is nice now. Back-to-back fives. Good, solid
:32:00. > :32:07.grabs. Put the landing down a little early. Oh, she had to open up early.
:32:08. > :32:12.She over rotated that. She opts for a switch air to normal at the
:32:13. > :32:16.bottom. She has to open up there just to
:32:17. > :32:20.stop the rotation to slow it down, otherwise she would have landed on
:32:21. > :32:22.her chest in the bottom of the half-pipe.
:32:23. > :32:38.Silver went to Haruna Matsumoto of Japan. With Grimal, from France
:32:39. > :32:47.taking the bronze. Next up, we have got an event which
:32:48. > :32:49.has given us arguably one of the most iconic moments ever in
:32:50. > :33:08.snowsport - the border cross. Going straight through the fence!
:33:09. > :33:15.This is a lap of honour for Lindsey Jacobellis. Jacobellis is down. Oh,
:33:16. > :33:23.look at her! Freedom! Unbelievable! Lindsey Jacobellis has
:33:24. > :33:27.grown a gold medal away in the last 100 metres.
:33:28. > :33:35.I will never tire, Ed of listening to your commentary on that. Believe
:33:36. > :33:39.it or not, 11 years on Lindsey Jacobellis is still competing and
:33:40. > :33:43.con#2e7bding. It is ironic one of the most successful athletes is
:33:44. > :33:48.famous for not winning an event. Make no mistake she'll be after gold
:33:49. > :33:55.here and the men's race promises to be battle for the ages as well.
:33:56. > :34:04.Lindsey Jacobellis is going all out for gold here in Sierra Nevada. She
:34:05. > :34:08.sailed through her quarter final. Maisie Potter couldn't handle the
:34:09. > :34:12.pace. She was pleased with a 14th place finish overall. It was a
:34:13. > :34:16.similar story in the semis. Jacobellis crushed the field and
:34:17. > :34:24.cruised into the final, leaving Zoe in her wake. She'll go again in the
:34:25. > :34:38.small final. Right, the
:34:39. > :34:44.Keep your eye centre of the picture there.
:34:45. > :34:46.The Olympic champion, it is her's to lose.
:34:47. > :34:57.So, here we go... Zoe, one of the better starts. Look
:34:58. > :35:08.at that an amazingly fast start in the
:35:09. > :35:23.So fast there out in red. The blue bib belongs to Bremmen.
:35:24. > :35:27.Look at them, going as fast as they K
:35:28. > :35:31.Samkova has done the business there. Oh, she's down... She's lost her
:35:32. > :35:36.edge. The Olympic champion has gone from hero to zero in the small
:35:37. > :35:51.final. She now has the hop of shame to get up to the top of that little
:35:52. > :36:00.loop there. What it does Zoe up the inside here. Can she get it done?
:36:01. > :36:06.Come on, Zoe! So Lapteva, currently in third and Gillings has taken her.
:36:07. > :36:12.It will be a third position. Oh, the lazy boy straight to her back.
:36:13. > :36:17.Gillings takes it. Lapteva just gets... It was like she
:36:18. > :36:22.was fired out of a cannon! Oh, what a finish that was! The French girl,
:36:23. > :36:26.I think a little unlucky. With speed like that she's unlucky not to be in
:36:27. > :36:31.the final, really. This will be good. Eyes on the gate. It gives
:36:32. > :36:35.them a two-second warning. The gate can drop any time in that two
:36:36. > :36:40.seconds. Jacobellis in the brown trousers. Keep your eye on her. So
:36:41. > :36:45.fast out of the gate. Look the French workers have worked on their
:36:46. > :36:53.starts.ly will not enough. Jacobellis now neck and neck with
:36:54. > :36:58.Respeuch. You have to say the experience of the girl who threw
:36:59. > :37:02.away a gold medal in 2016, Lindsey Jacobellis, should be enough to see
:37:03. > :37:07.her through here. She's not stupid enough to throw it away again. We
:37:08. > :37:11.saw her in the Olympics in soy n the final, after getting there so
:37:12. > :37:22.convincingly. Maybe nerves might get the best of her here. At the moment,
:37:23. > :37:27.Jacobellis, in the lead. Followed by the Bulgarian. Now the two Italians,
:37:28. > :37:33.in Mr Tumble's trousers, contesting for fourth. Look at the it Italian
:37:34. > :37:42.go. Brutto from third. Respeuch. So,
:37:43. > :37:50.which way will this go? Jacobellis holds the line and the Italians are
:37:51. > :38:00.battling for third. Respeuch could throw away a silver
:38:01. > :38:13.here. Jacobellis, back-to-back world champion. Oh! And breathe!
:38:14. > :38:20.I tell you what, can you hear the chat going on? She's saying she's
:38:21. > :38:28.holding her line as you're coming into me. Let's see if's any
:38:29. > :38:31.misdemeanours going on here. This is where... Should make the most of
:38:32. > :38:37.this turn. Goes through the inside... I think that's fair.
:38:38. > :38:42.There's nothing wrong with that. That was fantastic racing from
:38:43. > :38:54.Jacobellis, oh, my goodness! Look at that! Oh, brilliant. It is
:38:55. > :38:58.Jacobellis all the way. The big favourite in the men's
:38:59. > :39:03.competition is reigning Olympic champion. He lived up to his billing
:39:04. > :39:08.in qualifying. He cruised through his quarter final and semifinal in
:39:09. > :39:12.style. It wasn't quite as smooth for the current world champion. He lost
:39:13. > :39:17.control early in his quarter final and collided with Kevin Hill. That
:39:18. > :39:22.was the end of his title defence. And with this being snowboard cross,
:39:23. > :39:27.we were not short on carnage. The slushy course here taking out rider
:39:28. > :39:34.after rider. Oh, my goodness! Oh, and he's gone
:39:35. > :39:44.down! They have both gone down! Here we are the men's small final.
:39:45. > :39:51.Kearney missed out after finishing forth in his semifinal.
:39:52. > :40:10.Keep your eye on the man in the black. Kearney, he's got it down,
:40:11. > :40:19.the Italian there, with the Italian flag, currently in third position.
:40:20. > :40:30.Keep your eyes on the three as they fly through this section.
:40:31. > :40:36.So, Kearney leads from our man, the Italian.
:40:37. > :40:43.Momono, in the middle and nearly loses his edge. He manages to keep
:40:44. > :40:49.it on the straight and nor row. Look at this, the Austrian now into third
:40:50. > :40:54.position. Makes it stick on Momono. And this could have been the final.
:40:55. > :40:59.All these guys so fast through. The eighth and the quarters and the
:41:00. > :41:07.semis, but here we go... And it is a dive for the line.
:41:08. > :41:15.That man, the American, Kearney takes the small final.
:41:16. > :41:29.The men's big final then. The Olympic champion is in
:41:30. > :41:38.Vaultier straight into the lead. He will not relen constituency that.
:41:39. > :41:58.Pullin so fast. This is not over yet.
:41:59. > :42:02.The Spanish crowd here in Sierra Nevada willing the man in orange
:42:03. > :42:06.pants to the bottom. We have a man down. Forget about
:42:07. > :42:10.him. His day is over. Pullin now in third.
:42:11. > :42:14.Pullin is making a move on the leader. He doesn't make it stick
:42:15. > :42:30.though. He loses speed. Nobody will get near the French man.
:42:31. > :42:35.So Vaultier, now we... Ignore the placings on the screen. It is Pullin
:42:36. > :42:39.now in third. Can he get second? Oh, there we go! It was Vaultier in
:42:40. > :42:45.first. It was Pullin, Alex Pullin in Bronze
:42:46. > :42:57.Medal position. There's plenty more to come,
:42:58. > :43:01.including ski cross, which guarantees edge of the seat racing
:43:02. > :43:05.and ski cross in which Britain has hopes in the men and women's events.
:43:06. > :43:10.Now it is time for the last snowboarding event of the
:43:11. > :43:15.championships. It is big air. This is an event where Britain had high
:43:16. > :43:21.hopes in the shape of Katie Ormerod. Injury are a part of the game. I am
:43:22. > :43:24.absolutely gutted for Katie Ormerod. Aimee Fuller didn't make it through
:43:25. > :43:28.to the final either. There is a strong field. I always look forward
:43:29. > :43:32.to watching the women ride. They are not as technical as the men. As
:43:33. > :43:35.consequence there is way more style involved. Talking about the men,
:43:36. > :43:40.sadly none of our Brits have made it through to the final. This is big
:43:41. > :43:45.air snowboarding, these are the biggest tricks in the game.
:43:46. > :43:53.Well, we can expect the riders to live up to Ed's big billing tonight.
:43:54. > :44:00.The athletes get three jumps each, with their best two scores added
:44:01. > :44:07.together for their final total. Sandbech, from Norway.
:44:08. > :44:16.One of the most stylish riders out there. There's one, two, three,
:44:17. > :44:20.there's four... Goodness gracious! Now, interestingly, a little bit of
:44:21. > :44:28.a slide out of the bottom here. Be a bit of a grey area, really, as to
:44:29. > :44:33.where that control... Where did the judges judge to? Watch the spins
:44:34. > :44:37.here. There's one, two, three, there's four... Getting it done so
:44:38. > :44:46.clean. Rocking the nose grab there.
:44:47. > :44:58.86. 25. They have not penalised him for that landing, have they? Now Now
:44:59. > :45:02.this man is so good at snowboarding. Keep your eye on this! Oh, my
:45:03. > :45:07.goodness, right to the flats with it.
:45:08. > :45:14.Oh, that would have given the scientists at zern a headache how --
:45:15. > :45:21.Cer, in a headache. The backside triple. There's one, two, three,
:45:22. > :45:23.four rotations. Look how high he is. He knows he's good. New leader. That
:45:24. > :45:32.will take some beating! In the Norwegians were looking
:45:33. > :45:37.strong, so too were the Americans. A stunning backside triple court saw
:45:38. > :45:42.this rider into second place after his run with his compatriot in
:45:43. > :45:49.fourth going into run two. Sandbech... As far as big area
:45:50. > :45:55.results go, this year not been too lucky, really.
:45:56. > :46:02.Chucking the backside triple. Oh, my goodness gracious! Backside triple.
:46:03. > :46:08.14. 40. And he knows that's a good one.
:46:09. > :46:14.So those arms on the backside there. There are four full rotations.
:46:15. > :46:22.Upside down four times. There Indy grab. Boom! Doing it all!
:46:23. > :46:27.Look at that, 92 for jump number two for Sandbech.
:46:28. > :46:33.Leader after run one Kleveland, the Norwegian. This is switch. Throws
:46:34. > :46:39.the switch front side. 16. 20. He just holds on.
:46:40. > :46:44.And there's one, two, three, four-and-a-half.
:46:45. > :46:50.A bit of a hand drag. He's traversing off.
:46:51. > :46:59.Marcus Kleveland will have it all to do on his third run.
:47:00. > :47:08.Corning dropping in here. Oh, my goodness gracious! That is as
:47:09. > :47:13.good as ten, ladies and gentlemen! Oh, my... Let's just relive it!
:47:14. > :47:19.There's one, there's two, there's three, there's four. The front side
:47:20. > :47:26.14. 40. And he absolutely locked it in. His
:47:27. > :47:40.hands go nowhere near the snow. There you go... 91.75.
:47:41. > :47:43.Last to drop in round two Sven Thorgren with a typical stylish 14.
:47:44. > :47:48.14.40. He would have to land a big trick in
:47:49. > :47:52.run three to catch the competition leader, Sandbech.
:47:53. > :48:02.Now, Sandbech then. Can he improve here? It will be the 16... Oh, my
:48:03. > :48:11.goodness gracious! Front side, 14. 40. A awaiting score from the
:48:12. > :48:15.judges. He's happy with that. So there's one, two, three, there's
:48:16. > :48:21.four... A little hand drag. See him try and pick his hand up from the
:48:22. > :48:31.snow. Fist-bump there. What do the judges
:48:32. > :48:36.make of it? It's huge! 96. 25. If anybody can upset the apple cart, it
:48:37. > :48:40.is this boy. He will bring a sledgehammer to the apple cart.
:48:41. > :48:49.Kleveland, oh, look at that! Oh, it's huge! Did he stop his spin
:48:50. > :48:54.mid-air there almost? Switch 16. 20. Well, normally rides goofy. There's
:48:55. > :48:59.one, two, three, four-and-a-half. He had time to spare on that. That's
:49:00. > :49:06.going to be a big, big trick score. Now, what does he need? Sandbech, 92
:49:07. > :49:15.and 96. So he needs a 96.5 or higher for the win here. What are the
:49:16. > :49:22.judges going to give him? 84.5. Someone call the police! There's
:49:23. > :49:26.been a robbery! 84.5! I think they saw a different trick to me there.
:49:27. > :49:34.Kleveland into second. Can he bump this man out? Oh, my goodness! Yes,
:49:35. > :49:40.Chris Corning getting it done there on the final jump. He got bumped
:49:41. > :49:43.down into third position. He's gone and answered Marcus Kleveland
:49:44. > :49:48.straight back! He's thrown the backside triple 14. There's one,
:49:49. > :49:53.two, three, there's four... Oh and he goes so deep into the landing.
:49:54. > :50:01.The judges will love how big that was! There you go. 91 for jump
:50:02. > :50:07.three. It does, it pushes him above Marcus Kleveland into second. No
:50:08. > :50:12.catching Sandbech there. Now, the man that currently holds
:50:13. > :50:17.the second highest single trick score. 93.75, Sven Thorgren,
:50:18. > :50:21.dropping in switch now. What can he do? How can he answer his man back?
:50:22. > :50:34.Oh, it's not enough! He's popping his arm back in. Oh,
:50:35. > :50:38.goodness! That's not good. I'm wining here!
:50:39. > :50:50.Look at that... Chicken salad or roast beef? I will go for chicken
:50:51. > :50:55.salad on that one! Through the legs... And Sven Thorgren cannot get
:50:56. > :51:02.it done. Marcus Kleveland in third. Chris
:51:03. > :51:04.Corning, from the USA in second. The winner here tonight, from Norway, Mr
:51:05. > :51:08.Sandbech. To the women's final. Boom! There it is. Look at that, she
:51:09. > :51:31.says! There's one, two, let's go early.
:51:32. > :51:33.Opens up. Brings the landing gear down!
:51:34. > :51:42.Not Winning a few weeks ago on home
:51:43. > :51:56.soil. Rukajarvi, a veteran. She gets the
:51:57. > :52:03.7. 20 done. You can hear how icy it is getting.
:52:04. > :52:09.It's been a warm day out there. Backside, 7. 20. She shows her back
:52:10. > :52:16.to the landing first. There's one, and there's two.
:52:17. > :52:29.Enni... Have a resurgence. Good results shown from her.
:52:30. > :52:41.Gasser, she can jump. Gasser, signature trick almost for her.
:52:42. > :52:46.Takes off switch, chucks it side ways. Upside down twice. Throws down
:52:47. > :52:54.the landing gear and rides straight for the bottom and says, what you
:52:55. > :53:06.worried about? Because look at that. 89.5 from Gasser.
:53:07. > :53:16.Norendal... Backside 7. 20 from her. Very nice indeed.
:53:17. > :53:31.Very composed. Very composed from the 23 year old.
:53:32. > :53:34.Right, 162.75 for Silje Norendal. Rukajarvi, from Finland.
:53:35. > :53:39.Dropping in, riding switch here. That's backwards to you and me.
:53:40. > :53:46.Switch front side. Going to be a seven. Oh, very nice. Look at that,
:53:47. > :53:51.look how bumpy that run out. That was the trick that won her first
:53:52. > :54:00.place at the Innisbrook. It is very clean.
:54:01. > :54:05.85. 72. 165. 25 is her two jump total.
:54:06. > :54:10.The Finn briefly took the lead. Gasser's second jump saw her regain
:54:11. > :54:15.top spot. As neither could improve on their scores in run three,
:54:16. > :54:21.Gasser's final jump had something of an exhibition feel to it.
:54:22. > :54:32.One, two, oh, it's proper! Oh! It's beautiful! Oh, my goodness! She can
:54:33. > :54:38.not believe it! Double ten. Look at this! It's a work of art! Oh, she
:54:39. > :54:44.went massive. She had to ep up to slow that down. If she had stayed
:54:45. > :54:48.grabbing that board, she would have landed on her head. There's no-one
:54:49. > :54:54.catching her now. 100! She's got 100!
:54:55. > :55:00.100 points! History in the making, right there, ladies and gentlemen!
:55:01. > :55:04.You have a new world champion. Norendal from Norway in third.
:55:05. > :55:10.Second place, Rukajarvi, from Finland. Taking the win, with that
:55:11. > :55:13.perfect 100 points, for her third and final jump it is Austria's Anna
:55:14. > :55:20.Gasser. So that was the final event for the
:55:21. > :55:24.snowboarders here in Sierra Nevada. They make way for the free-skiers.
:55:25. > :55:26.The first we have for you needs little selling or explanation. Sit
:55:27. > :55:50.back and enjoy the ride! Smith in the red trousers very fast
:55:51. > :55:53.as is the yellow bib of David. The French have a very good ski cross
:55:54. > :56:00.programme. You have to say business as usual. Smith, look at the start
:56:01. > :56:04.she's got here. She's been so fast through qualifications, has the 24
:56:05. > :56:10.year old. She's commanding this... Oh and some scrapping at the back.
:56:11. > :56:13.Oh, some skis tangled. It will not affect the proceedings though. Only
:56:14. > :56:23.the top two advancing through to the final. Oh! And David... Going huge
:56:24. > :56:28.in the yellow bib. It is all about timing and rhythm.
:56:29. > :56:34.She's right in the slipstream. Doesn't want to do anything stupid
:56:35. > :56:41.here. Now into... Oh, and she's caught that there... That little
:56:42. > :56:47.mistake might have cost her. There's the blue bib from Canada. She won a
:56:48. > :56:52.medal at track-side in cycling at Rio. It don't think it will be
:56:53. > :56:53.enough from her. Smith and David will be advancing through to the
:56:54. > :57:15.final. Keep your eye on the green bib of
:57:16. > :57:19.Thomas. Thompson... She is the current leader. Oh, look at the
:57:20. > :57:21.lead. She's into that first turn. And the battle for second place is
:57:22. > :57:52.on. A couple of podiums between them
:57:53. > :57:56.here. Oh, and she's making the move on her
:57:57. > :58:02.here! Look at this. Naeslund, she's going to take it through... She
:58:03. > :58:07.does. And she's got the insideline here. In the pink helmet, she's
:58:08. > :58:14.going to push out. Thompson is getting pushed out here. Can Zacher
:58:15. > :58:19.hold on to this? The German has gone on to take second place. Oh, what a
:58:20. > :58:21.race! Relatively comfortable for Naeslund, but she'll be joined by
:58:22. > :58:36.Zacher in the final. Finals time. First, second and third
:58:37. > :58:37.are all that matter here and that all-important World Championship
:58:38. > :58:45.title. Zacher with a good start out in the
:58:46. > :58:49.yellow. As we know, Smith has a very good start on her, in the red
:58:50. > :58:54.trousers. Keep your eye on her, from Switzerland. But she's being kept
:58:55. > :59:00.true here by Naeslund. Look at the Swede. 20 years of age... She almost
:59:01. > :59:04.cuts in front of her there. Stamps her authority on this race!
:59:05. > :59:11.Brilliant skiing. Brilliant start from the young 20 year old.
:59:12. > :59:16.Can she now win Sweden's first medal of these World Championships? She's
:59:17. > :59:20.got just probably around about a kilometre to go on this track.
:59:21. > :59:27.And she looks very comfortable, doesn't she? Fanny Smith, she's
:59:28. > :59:32.playing chase here. That's when mistakes are made, as
:59:33. > :59:36.you are pushing yourself, Naeslund, she's got the bracing line here. And
:59:37. > :59:40.there is a racing line through this track. Definitely the fastest line.
:59:41. > :59:46.Looks comfortable. Smith needs to go here. What can she do on these final
:59:47. > :59:52.jumps? I don't think she'll do it. No, so, there we go!
:59:53. > :00:00.Naeslund, from Sweden takes the goltd. Smith takes the silver. A
:00:01. > :00:04.very respectable bronze for David of France.
:00:05. > :00:08.A commanding run from start to finish. She led from the off. That
:00:09. > :00:10.first corner, she did it all. And the 20-year-old is now a world
:00:11. > :00:23.champion. In the men's competition there were
:00:24. > :00:29.a handful of crashes in the early rounds. We had a big shock. The
:00:30. > :00:32.Olympic champion failed to progress through the round of 16. The
:00:33. > :00:46.Frenchman was the one noticeable absence from the semifinal line-up.
:00:47. > :00:55.Jamie of New Zealand in the blue. The Canadian in the green. Look at
:00:56. > :00:59.Jamie Prebble. No business being at the front and he is leading
:01:00. > :01:06.semifinal number one. I thought it was all going to be about the
:01:07. > :01:18.Canadian. So far, he is chasing the kiwi. He went very big. Prebble very
:01:19. > :01:23.nearly ended up on his back. Lent back of the jump and he has managed
:01:24. > :01:30.to keep hold of it. The same again from Leman, the Canadian. Trying to
:01:31. > :01:35.chase these boys, waiting for any mistake was that he will make a
:01:36. > :01:47.move. Oh, my goodness! Leman nearly went down. Now Prebble and Place
:01:48. > :01:55.will advance. That is ski cross to 18. Look how fast things can change!
:01:56. > :02:03.Leman was in contention. He just came up short and look how wide it
:02:04. > :02:17.took him! The men's semifinal number to. The Austrian bronze medallist.
:02:18. > :02:22.Flisar from Slovenia in the luminous yellow. He is the defending
:02:23. > :02:33.champion. The Austrian in the yellow. Turn one relatively clean.
:02:34. > :02:37.Look at Flisar! Out in front. The defending world champion. How he
:02:38. > :02:58.would like to retain that Crown. Being chased here by the Swede. So
:02:59. > :03:01.far so good. A high line. Very nearly getting unsettled through
:03:02. > :03:14.here. You have to say, business as usual upfront. He is without a win
:03:15. > :03:18.is Norberg, the Swede, so far this season. It looks very comfortable
:03:19. > :03:29.for these two and they will both be in the final. The defending champion
:03:30. > :03:34.Norberg and the Swede, Flisar, advance. The men's ski cross final
:03:35. > :03:44.setup for a very good show. -- Norberg and France. The unknown
:03:45. > :03:50.quantity, the outsider, Jamie Prebble from New Zealand, who has an
:03:51. > :03:55.absolute flyer. Look at Prebble in the grey trousers at the Mizrachi
:03:56. > :04:02.has pushed the defending champion. Flisar, the defending champion, has
:04:03. > :04:10.gone back to last place. They are coming together. They have both gone
:04:11. > :04:17.out. Oh, no! Let's get a handle on things. Prebble in second in the
:04:18. > :04:23.yellow bib, chasing Norberg of Sweden. Will it be a Swede and
:04:24. > :04:29.double in the ski cross? The gold medal well and truly up for grabs.
:04:30. > :04:32.The unknown quantity, the kiwi, Prebble, he has never been on a
:04:33. > :04:41.podium before and he is fighting for gold. This is the last corner. He
:04:42. > :04:47.tries to go around the outside. The door is closed on him. And it will
:04:48. > :04:56.be Norberg to take the win, closely followed by Jamie Prebble. That is
:04:57. > :05:00.Flisar. He has his skis back on. It'll be a bronze for the defending
:05:01. > :05:12.world champion. He is not happy with it. Look at that! Under review. What
:05:13. > :05:16.has gone on here? So, Flisar... His skis are everywhere through there.
:05:17. > :05:26.Tries to push Prebble out. I think he straddled the gate and come out
:05:27. > :05:32.of the course. Oh, look! He has been demoted to fourth. Hard lines for
:05:33. > :05:39.the defending world champ but that puts Place into third. There is your
:05:40. > :05:45.official podium. The action here in Sierra Nevada is relentless. Next up
:05:46. > :05:51.is the ski half-pipe event. Like the snowboarders, the British riders
:05:52. > :05:57.struggle against the top athletes. The half-pipe is not something we
:05:58. > :06:02.can replicate in a snow dome or a dry slope. A special mention to Ryan
:06:03. > :06:09.Cheshire for making the finals. Take it away.
:06:10. > :06:23.Though women's half-pipe final here. All British hopes lay with Rowan
:06:24. > :06:39.Cheshire. A big 540 to start things off. Into the 900. Very nice. Into
:06:40. > :06:46.the right side 540. 720. Coming backwards across the half-pipe. Now
:06:47. > :06:53.they switch. Oh, no! She just slightly overcooked that. She has
:06:54. > :06:58.left it into long. She pops that a bit too high. She has over rotated.
:06:59. > :07:08.That must have affected confidence. That turns out to be the best score
:07:09. > :07:17.of the night. Next up was the French competitor. The super pipe gold
:07:18. > :07:23.medallist, Martineau. Here with her mum and her daughter. Back-to-back
:07:24. > :07:29.540 40s would look how high in the transition she lands. Generates so
:07:30. > :07:35.much speed. Back-to-back flares. Good from the Frenchwoman. Ends with
:07:36. > :07:44.a big 900. What a run from her! She knows that is a good one. Number one
:07:45. > :07:50.on the bid for a reason. A huge flare. A left side there followed by
:07:51. > :07:58.a right side there. With a 900 at the bottom was getting the grab. A
:07:59. > :08:03.perfect rotation. Martineau lead going into the second rounds. Not
:08:04. > :08:13.everyone was finding it as easy as her.
:08:14. > :08:23.Next up, trying to put some pressure on Martinod. Got the bronze in
:08:24. > :08:31.Sochi. Starting off with a big 904 that she is a technical skier.
:08:32. > :08:37.Kryptonite definitely is the amplitude. Not getting as high. This
:08:38. > :08:44.is a nice run for the spinning in all directions. Finishing with a
:08:45. > :08:51.540. Look at what it means to her! What will the judges make of it?
:08:52. > :08:58.Start things off with the 900. The judges rewarding the risk for such a
:08:59. > :09:09.big trick to start with. A 720 here. Then a clean 540. Down at the
:09:10. > :09:20.bottom. Landing nice and solid. I think they are going to like this
:09:21. > :09:25.run. 89.8. First place for Onozuka. That proved too much for the rest of
:09:26. > :09:36.the field and Martinod fell to improve on her best run but held on
:09:37. > :09:41.to second place. Onozuka adds to her other win with her first World
:09:42. > :09:42.Championship gold medal. Next up, the men's final in Sierra Nevada.
:09:43. > :10:01.First to drop in will be Aaron Blunk. Known for these big
:10:02. > :10:11.back-to-back doubles. Into Switch double ten. A huge 900 tail grab.
:10:12. > :10:18.Has a tendency to land a bit flat. Then the 1260. It is a work of art.
:10:19. > :10:26.He knows that is a good run. A stylish rider, technical. Has a
:10:27. > :10:32.tendency to land that. The judges want them to land at the top of the
:10:33. > :10:38.transitions. This is the 1260 at the bottom with their tail grab. He puts
:10:39. > :10:45.it down very clean indeed. That is a solid run from the American. Look at
:10:46. > :10:53.that! 91.8. That will take some catching. Next to drop, the French
:10:54. > :11:09.skier. Goes absolutely massive this guy. A Switch double. Into a huge
:11:10. > :11:20.right side 900. A big 1260. Back-to-back 1260 's. Oh, absolutely
:11:21. > :11:25.huge! The Olympic bronze medallist from Sochi 2014. Eight gold in the
:11:26. > :11:32.World Championships back in 2009 can he make it a gold here? Back-to-back
:11:33. > :11:43.1260 's. What a run from the Frenchman. 88.4. He looks a bit
:11:44. > :11:49.surprised by that. So, Blunck lead from Onozuka into the next round.
:11:50. > :11:57.Sometimes the half-pipe as a way of bringing you back down to earth with
:11:58. > :12:04.a bump. The Canadian Mike Riddle next up, trying to upset the apple
:12:05. > :12:08.cart and getting onto the podium. Amplitude seems to be something the
:12:09. > :12:15.judges are loving this World Championships. Switch seven is like
:12:16. > :12:23.that will definitely help his cause. The rotations with the tail grab. A
:12:24. > :12:31.big double to finish. What a run from the Canadian! He has an Olympic
:12:32. > :12:37.silver medal to his name. One of the older guys on the circuit. A super
:12:38. > :12:45.nice style. That is what it is all about. The judges will like that. A
:12:46. > :12:54.little high load to his mum and dad. It is 89.6 four Mike Riddle. So, he
:12:55. > :13:01.jumped above Onozuka into second spot going into run-through. No one
:13:02. > :13:08.could topple Blunck at the top of the leaderboard. So, Rolland takes
:13:09. > :13:16.home the bronze and Riddle gets silver and Aaron Blunck takes his
:13:17. > :13:20.first World Championship title. The last event of the World Championship
:13:21. > :13:22.is the ski slopestyle. We have genuine medal contenders in this
:13:23. > :13:28.event, both men's and women's for the first up is the women. Katie
:13:29. > :13:35.Summerhays got a silver medal in the World Championship 's but she has
:13:36. > :13:42.competition and it is within the team, which is exciting. Izzy Atkins
:13:43. > :13:49.came first at the last World Cup of the season. I think she has taken
:13:50. > :13:55.inspiration from Katie at the last World Championships. Katie
:13:56. > :14:01.Summerhays has not made finals, such are the margins. Then the man, Jamie
:14:02. > :14:10.Woods is arguably the most consistent rider. He just won gold
:14:11. > :14:18.at the X Games. That event is not recognised by the Olympics or FIS. I
:14:19. > :14:24.think Woodsy is the best pound for pound float skier in the world for
:14:25. > :14:32.that this is the most competitive category in the World Championships.
:14:33. > :14:38.I am excited for this one. First up the women's final and in difficult
:14:39. > :14:43.conditions. Only two riders managed a clean first run. Devon Logan and
:14:44. > :14:49.Izzy Atkin. A stylish run saw the 18-year-old move into second place.
:14:50. > :14:53.The rest of the field found it tough going with the French skier showing
:14:54. > :15:01.how difficult it was to judge the course. She will be hoping to get a
:15:02. > :15:12.handle on it in run two. Big young French skier. A big five. She
:15:13. > :15:20.crashed on it last time. A switch 540. It is the switch seven. Trying
:15:21. > :15:29.to scrub a little bit of speed. A Switch five. Just caught the
:15:30. > :15:35.knuckle. Now the left side. 720. This is a really tidy round from the
:15:36. > :15:44.first place qualifier. A big 450 out.
:15:45. > :15:51.Oh, there we go! Ladies and gentlemen, that is what she wanted
:15:52. > :15:58.first time around. From France, tests with that run. In my opinion
:15:59. > :16:02.she has gone into first place. Everything was really tidy, apart
:16:03. > :16:11.from that one, as I said it. The 450 out was lovely on the A-frame. For
:16:12. > :16:23.me, she had control. 85.6. We have a new leader. The Swede for her third
:16:24. > :16:34.and final round at the world champs. She is flying into this first jump.
:16:35. > :16:36.A big super Cork 720. Fully upside down on that, followed by a left
:16:37. > :17:11.side 540. Now Emma Dahlstrom. She has tackled
:17:12. > :17:18.the house. She has bested it. A former Olympian is Emma Dahlstrom.
:17:19. > :17:27.She does have a winter X Games gold medal back in Aspen. Oh, 83.8. Look
:17:28. > :17:44.at that! Second place. Izzy Atkin from Great Britain,
:17:45. > :17:51.qualified in third. She has topped the podium already this season at
:17:52. > :17:59.the World Cup. She has got it all to do in this third and final run. With
:18:00. > :18:08.a very nice silky start things off. Followed by the opposite 720. So,
:18:09. > :18:15.spinning in both directions. A really nice 450 out. Coming in
:18:16. > :18:23.switch. Switch seven. Really tidy run.
:18:24. > :18:36.This is looking very good indeed from Izzy Atkin. And she claims it.
:18:37. > :18:43.I don't want to get too ahead of myself but that was definitely her
:18:44. > :18:48.best run. She has done. She needs to best and 82.6 to get third full if
:18:49. > :18:55.she wants to get onto the top spot of the podium she needs 85.6 or
:18:56. > :19:04.higher. An anxious wait for that she is hoping and we are hoping. Look at
:19:05. > :19:11.that! 83.2. Izzy Atkin currently sits in third place. It is an
:19:12. > :19:19.anxious wait now. This is the Swiss skier. She is currently out of the
:19:20. > :19:25.top three. It is only heard that can not Isabel Atkin of the podium. --
:19:26. > :19:38.only her that can knock. Switch five. Very tidy. Very fast out of
:19:39. > :19:46.the flat bar. 900. She is down and gone. She has dropped a ski. She is
:19:47. > :19:49.absolutely gutted. Well, ladies and gents, it does mean that Great
:19:50. > :19:56.Britain is guaranteed a bronze medal. So, there we go. Tess Ledeux
:19:57. > :20:01.from France goes home the world champion in ladies slopestyle with
:20:02. > :20:09.Emma Dahlstrom collecting silver and Isabel Atkin of Great Britain
:20:10. > :20:13.getting the bronze. I was nervous thinking about my tricks and what I
:20:14. > :20:21.needed to do to improve. I knew I had them all. I just needed to clean
:20:22. > :20:28.them up. In the men's competition, the early pace was set by the Swede.
:20:29. > :20:33.The best run was from James Woods. Sheffield's finest made it look
:20:34. > :20:40.really easy. Run to was littered with mistakes. James Woods for Great
:20:41. > :20:54.Britain looking to improve on his lead. Huge. A massive switch 1080.
:20:55. > :21:03.Into switch 99. Opens up to slow the rotation down. This boy knows where
:21:04. > :21:12.he is in the air at any point. A little loose on the trip. That is on
:21:13. > :21:17.point. -- the triple. Absolutely huge from Woodsy. The style on that.
:21:18. > :21:23.Just to stall at mid-spindles his legs stay in the same position. One
:21:24. > :21:31.of the few skiers to hit the high bar. I don't know if it is an
:21:32. > :21:48.improvement that it is a solid run. -- but it is a solid run. The triple
:21:49. > :22:03.Cork. Oh, he has improved! 90.4. McRae Williams. We like him. He is a
:22:04. > :22:12.good dude. Huge! A big 99. A Switch double. Ten. Into this flat bar.
:22:13. > :22:25.Really nice from McRae Williams. He just needs a few... Oh, goodness me!
:22:26. > :22:34.1260, was it? And then the 450 out from the flat bar. This is looking
:22:35. > :22:43.good. A solid run for McRae Williams. 70 points in his first run
:22:44. > :22:50.and a definite improvement. A cheeky little mystique off there. I think
:22:51. > :22:56.it will be a podium. Second place. The nemesis for many of the riders
:22:57. > :22:59.proved to be the house at the bottom of the course. Some dealt with
:23:00. > :23:04.disappointment more gracefully than others. The gold medal for the
:23:05. > :23:15.biggest tantrum of these championships!
:23:16. > :23:25.So, the man from Colorado, Kenworthy. The switch double ten.
:23:26. > :23:38.Really nice. Flying off the flat bar. Of the huge
:23:39. > :23:57.rocket rail. And now a double Cork 12 into the
:23:58. > :24:04.flat bar. This is looking very tidy from gas Kenworthy. Careful on this
:24:05. > :24:11.one! So smooth. He made that look effortless. My barometer for schools
:24:12. > :24:16.and judges more often than not is to look at the riders. -- schools. If
:24:17. > :24:22.they celebrate and know it is a good run, you know it is a good run. Is
:24:23. > :24:31.it enough a second, or is it enough for third? Oh, my goodness! An
:24:32. > :24:38.absolutely huge score. 91.8. Kenworthy, straight into the lead.
:24:39. > :24:45.Great Britain's James Woods next to drop. 98.4 and he is chasing a 91.8.
:24:46. > :24:54.What can he do, the man from Sheffield, on his third and final
:24:55. > :24:57.run. That is the biggest ten eight we have seen all afternoon. There is
:24:58. > :25:09.the double 900. A huge triple. His head nearly came
:25:10. > :25:22.off. I am holding my breath between every single run. Oh, the jumps were
:25:23. > :25:26.absolutely faultless. Oh, no! He had to bring allot of speed into that.
:25:27. > :25:32.He needed to clear that and hit the transition. He caught the nose of
:25:33. > :25:36.his ski there. I think that, right there, would have been a gold medal
:25:37. > :25:44.run. Still sitting in silver position. From the US of A, McRae
:25:45. > :25:49.Williams. Bringing a lot of speed into this first jump, as he throws
:25:50. > :25:59.the double 900, straight to the flats. A switch 1080.
:26:00. > :26:07.Again, we see that cheeky little slip of the end of the flat bar from
:26:08. > :26:12.McRae. There is a triple. Oh, it was absolutely seamless! He did not land
:26:13. > :26:24.that, the ground came up to meet him. Oh, he could see -- we could
:26:25. > :26:32.see a change on the podium here. Solid, solid from McRae Williams.
:26:33. > :26:47.There is one, two, three. Triple 1440. 93.4. Look at that! And pushes
:26:48. > :26:52.Kenworthy down into silver. James Woods is now down into bronze. James
:26:53. > :27:02.Woods now has a very nervous wait at the bottom. Now for the final run of
:27:03. > :27:08.the slopestyle World Championships. Starts off very nicely. The switch
:27:09. > :27:28.double Cork 1080. It is looking very tidy indeed. The
:27:29. > :27:37.1260. Now... ABM from Canada needs to get through these rails
:27:38. > :27:47.unscathed. He is looking very tidy. Oh, no! Oh, and he has been undone
:27:48. > :27:51.by the house. So, McRae Williams takes the gold with his compatriot
:27:52. > :27:55.Kenworthy taking silver. Great Britain win their second medal of
:27:56. > :27:59.the championships with James Woods taking the bronze. I am really
:28:00. > :28:04.happy. I got on medal at the World Championship Samak is huge was
:28:05. > :28:08.really happy. Iggy pop doing fantastic. Everyone doing brilliant.
:28:09. > :28:14.I think we all did really well, considering the conditions as well.
:28:15. > :28:19.Performance wise, I could not be more proud, to be honest. That is
:28:20. > :28:26.it. The World Freestyle Championships are done. It has been
:28:27. > :28:34.a case of both highs and lows with special moments to savour and
:28:35. > :28:37.special riding across Sierra Nevada. Excitement and expectation levels
:28:38. > :28:43.are rising ahead of the Winter Olympics. Our build-up will take
:28:44. > :28:44.place before the games with the return of Ski Sunday. We will see
:28:45. > :28:47.you then.
