:01:02. > :01:08.Good evening and welcome to the Newport centre. Ding Junhui looking

:01:08. > :01:13.to retain his crown. His quarter- final match coming up for you later.

:01:13. > :01:17.We've had a terrific day of snooker at the Welsh open and we've seen a

:01:17. > :01:23.little piece of history being made with the first Indian to reach and

:01:23. > :01:26.a ranking quarter-final. It's been a fascinating journey so far. I've

:01:26. > :01:36.taken it day by day. I was very passionate about it when I started

:01:36. > :01:38.

:01:38. > :01:42.playing. At 16, I thought I could make it my career. By won

:01:42. > :01:48.championships in 2005 and 2008. It has been billiards for me for the

:01:48. > :01:52.last decade. It is my first love. It is my identity. I will still be

:01:52. > :01:58.known as a billiards player irrespective of how I do in snooker

:01:58. > :02:02.for the next few months or years. There is a lot for me here at

:02:02. > :02:06.billiards, but I want to try my hand at snooker. It is different in

:02:06. > :02:11.terms of techniques and the way you approach the game because snooker

:02:11. > :02:15.is more accuracy and precision where is billiards is more of

:02:15. > :02:21.stamina and patience. Now that I am playing snooker in the UK, I feel I

:02:21. > :02:24.am part of the circuit and I feel that I am responsible for my

:02:24. > :02:29.country and as a professional to perform to the highest possible

:02:30. > :02:34.level and I am so glad I am able to produce my best snooker now. I

:02:34. > :02:40.wouldn't say it's the most popular sport in India. There is cricket,

:02:40. > :02:44.as you know, tennis, golf. We still have a long way to go in terms of

:02:44. > :02:47.educating the public and making them more aware of the sport and

:02:47. > :02:54.its nuances. I am happy things are improving and before you know it,

:02:54. > :02:58.we might have it ranked snooker event. To be the first Indian to

:02:58. > :03:02.make it to the quarter-finals of a ranked event, it has been great and

:03:02. > :03:07.I am enjoying every moment of this journey. It's such a huge thing for

:03:07. > :03:11.me personally because there is such a lot of hard work that goes behind

:03:11. > :03:14.it which not many people know the sacrifices that you make when you

:03:14. > :03:20.stay away from family. All these things make the journey worth it.

:03:20. > :03:25.And it means a lot to me that I've got to the stage where I have.

:03:25. > :03:30.the biggest match of the Indian's short career having disposed of

:03:30. > :03:40.three former world champions en route, could he win the meeting

:03:40. > :03:45.

:03:45. > :03:48.Known for his and long potting, the juggernaut has been improving. The

:03:48. > :03:58.combination of pressure and bad luck mean that -- meant that Advani

:03:58. > :04:06.

:04:06. > :04:13.The pots kept dropping and Trump was intent on putting his opponent

:04:13. > :04:17.at the sword. The left-hander from Bristol four frames to the good in

:04:17. > :04:24.just over an hour, one for him from defeat, the seven-times billiards

:04:24. > :04:27.world champion was snookered. But as Advani has shown all week, he

:04:27. > :04:32.has the temperament and ability to cope on the big stage and he

:04:32. > :04:42.finally got on the scoresheet, thanks to this adventurous if not

:04:42. > :04:57.

:04:57. > :05:07.Judd Trump de rail temporarily. Advani pulled back another. It was

:05:07. > :05:07.

:05:07. > :05:15.dealt the final black. -- down to the final black. That is where the

:05:15. > :05:25.comeback ended. Judd Trump booked his place in the last four claiming

:05:25. > :05:31.

:05:31. > :05:36.victory, 5-2. Out, but the Indian certainly not a dull. -- not down.

:05:36. > :05:40.Today he did pick it up a few notches. I'd enjoyed myself totally

:05:40. > :05:45.in this event. Even if I lost in the quarter-finals, there is no

:05:45. > :05:50.shame because I pulled a couple of frames back after being 4-0 down. I

:05:50. > :05:54.had to come back as a stronger player. By safety was pretty good,

:05:54. > :05:58.long pot was good and they dominated the game. I still missed

:05:58. > :06:03.a few easy balls in the last couple of frames, but I'm going to cut

:06:03. > :06:09.that out. It has been a great adventure for Pencoed at Folly.

:06:09. > :06:17.Darren Morgan is my guest. -- Pankaj Advani. Indian newspapers

:06:17. > :06:23.have been talking about Advani this week. In the 90s, James Watt came

:06:23. > :06:27.along and exploded in Thailand. And Ding Junhui, and look at what has

:06:27. > :06:33.happened in China. It is fantastic India have found a player. He has,

:06:33. > :06:42.further East than any other Indian player. With a bit of luck, he will

:06:42. > :06:49.be back. Stuart Bingham and Ken Doherty. He came back from 3-2 down

:06:49. > :06:53.to see a place in the last four. -- to seal a place. Well done to

:06:53. > :06:58.Stuart Bingham. I had a chat with them a few moments ago. He says he

:06:58. > :07:02.is confident. He is the king of comeback. He'd done great and he

:07:02. > :07:06.got out of jail yesterday. Neil Robertson thought he was in the

:07:06. > :07:12.next round, but then Stuart Bingham was through. He didn't play as well

:07:12. > :07:16.today. If he wants to have any chance in the next round, he will

:07:16. > :07:20.have to play better. Stuart Bingham in the semi-final will play the

:07:20. > :07:30.winner of tonight's quarter-final match between Robert Milkins and

:07:30. > :07:35.

:07:35. > :07:40.One of the greatest players we've got, particularly when you think

:07:40. > :07:46.about how much pressure is on him all the time from the media in the

:07:46. > :07:51.UK and certainly in China. A player that strides on trial to become

:07:51. > :08:01.better in every aspect of the game. His break building, cue action,

:08:01. > :08:03.

:08:03. > :08:08.An introverted character but when he is out there playing a match, he

:08:08. > :08:11.is a fantastic technician, he hits the ball so well. He is a

:08:11. > :08:21.perfectionist in many ways and that gives you an idea of the level of

:08:21. > :08:24.

:08:24. > :08:29.his own belief. He does know how His all-round game is really good.

:08:29. > :08:34.His attitude, it doesn't look as if he wants to be there. But when he

:08:34. > :08:44.wants to be there and he is on form, he is fantastic. I like him he is a

:08:44. > :08:47.

:08:47. > :08:54.great player. Over the next couple He has won so many tournaments at

:08:54. > :08:58.such a young age, he has got a lot more to give.

:08:58. > :09:02.A terrific player, taking on Robert Milkins to send Mark Williams

:09:02. > :09:09.crashing. He has never become the Chinese star but could this be his

:09:09. > :09:19.night? We are picking up the action him frame to. Milkins to play,

:09:19. > :09:28.

:09:28. > :09:35.Does he play the kiss on the red and black or for the two loose

:09:35. > :09:45.reds? He could play for the two loose ones. He has played the

:09:45. > :09:45.

:09:45. > :10:48.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:10:48. > :10:58.He will not be able to hold for the blackmail. That definitely left the

:10:58. > :11:00.

:11:01. > :11:10.bed of the table. He will have to Robert would say himself that is a

:11:11. > :11:45.

:11:45. > :11:54.He could have done with being a bit further away from the cushion. That

:11:54. > :12:00.wasn't an easy red. Yes, but he got down and hit that ball. He didn't

:12:00. > :12:10.take care over that shot. He's fortunate if he hasn't left

:12:10. > :12:11.

:12:11. > :13:00.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:13:00. > :13:10.And he just sniggered himself on the road he wanted to play for. --

:13:10. > :13:18.

:13:18. > :13:28.Just enough room to get him between 3LO and the brown. -- the yellow.

:13:28. > :13:47.

:13:47. > :13:57.That is a fantastically well judged shot. They're not often played that

:13:57. > :13:58.

:13:58. > :14:05.well, I can hear you. -- I can tell His good judgment has paid

:14:05. > :14:15.dividends. He only needs 10. So unfortunately for Ding Junhui, he

:14:15. > :14:15.

:14:15. > :15:03.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:15:03. > :15:10.A very clever shot. The thing with him as he never gives away a chance

:15:10. > :15:20.to win the frame. A lot of players would not have played that shot. He

:15:20. > :15:31.

:15:31. > :15:41.We have had a lot of kicks and this He still needs the last red to be

:15:41. > :15:49.

:15:49. > :15:54.He would have played for the black but he is straight on it, so I

:15:54. > :15:58.wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't try to screw back to where he is

:15:58. > :16:08.now because then he would have a good natural angle to dislodge the

:16:08. > :16:08.

:16:08. > :16:55.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:16:56. > :17:05.Just about got the angle to bring It looks like he could almost hit

:17:06. > :17:11.

:17:11. > :17:21.it on the right home side of the It was always airing on the right

:17:21. > :17:44.

:17:44. > :17:53.hand side. Any harder and he would He is entitled to look disappointed.

:17:53. > :18:03.He has had chances in all of these frames. Barring snooker's, that

:18:03. > :18:13.

:18:13. > :18:19.will be Ding Junhui taking the That is the best shot Robert

:18:19. > :18:29.Milkins has played this evening. Perfect judgement of pace. This

:18:29. > :19:08.

:19:08. > :19:18.The blue is the problem here. He's going to have to play with loads of

:19:18. > :19:18.

:19:18. > :20:26.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:20:26. > :20:36.That kicked because he was playing that should put the frame beyond

:20:36. > :20:39.

:20:39. > :20:43.Robert has been careless, he should leave the auditorium and give

:20:43. > :20:47.himself a good talking-to. He has been a player for many years but

:20:48. > :20:57.the last couple of years, he has not been able to string any results

:20:58. > :21:18.

:21:18. > :21:25.Doesn't matter about the blue because Robert welcomed -- Robert

:21:25. > :21:33.Milkins remains in his chair. It is 2-0 to Ding Junhui. So he is

:21:34. > :21:43.looking like the reigning champion. Into frame three we go. There is no

:21:44. > :21:47.

:21:47. > :21:57.Well, that's more like it from Robert Milkins, nice clean pot. He

:21:57. > :22:06.has had not had a good run on the That was a tough green. There was

:22:06. > :22:10.pressure on that. He knew he would be, next red. The green has

:22:10. > :22:20.cannoned the cluster of reds and opened more of them up. It is not

:22:20. > :22:50.

:22:50. > :23:00.That has turned out well. The black available to both corners and the

:23:00. > :23:00.

:23:00. > :24:01.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:24:01. > :24:11.It was amazing how quickly that came off the cushion. He got

:24:11. > :24:13.

:24:14. > :24:17.another foot of place. -- pace. That was incredible. I am often

:24:17. > :24:23.asked what causes that to happen but if you clean the cue ball, you

:24:23. > :24:27.will get a perfect balance every time. If you actually come out of a

:24:27. > :24:33.snooker and you miss and you are called for a miss and the referee

:24:33. > :24:36.replaces the cue ball, it is a point worth noting that if the

:24:36. > :24:46.referee cleans the cue ball, you will get a completely different

:24:46. > :25:20.

:25:20. > :25:30.balance of the crucial next time. - Ominous signs in this third frame

:25:30. > :25:36.

:25:36. > :25:46.This is when Ding Junhui is at his best normally. When he is in a box

:25:46. > :25:46.

:25:46. > :26:47.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:26:47. > :26:57.the reds. He has good tight control He had the angle to nudge a few

:26:57. > :27:07.reds. So, colour, red, colour, and Ding Junhui will be racing away to

:27:07. > :27:22.

:27:22. > :27:32.a 3-0 lead. Robert Milkins has not He needs to play an attacking shot,

:27:32. > :27:34.

:27:34. > :27:38.it is a different game these days. Now, he needs one more red. This is

:27:38. > :27:48.the green. I am not disputing he should have gone for it, but it was

:27:48. > :28:11.

:28:11. > :28:21.It is wise to have the cue ball cleaned because you don't want to

:28:21. > :28:26.

:28:26. > :28:36.Dead centre, look. The pressure is off Ding Junhui. Can he make a

:28:36. > :28:36.

:28:36. > :29:36.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:29:36. > :29:46.He just got into the cue ball too Been a professional, Ding Junhui,

:29:46. > :29:46.

:29:46. > :29:53.since 2003, so tenures and he has amassed 280 career centuries. Well,

:29:54. > :29:59.this one will be 279. That is a good average, 27 a year at least. A

:29:59. > :30:09.lot of players don't make 27 in a lifetime. He is one of the game's

:30:09. > :30:25.

:30:25. > :30:31.That was a tough shot to play he wanted to miss the cannon on the

:30:32. > :30:37.blue. It has all gone wrong now. But it is 100 for break by Ding

:30:37. > :30:44.Junhui and he extended his lead to 3-0.

:30:44. > :30:52.And he won frame four with the break of 74. So, frame five, Ding

:30:52. > :30:57.Junhui is at the table trilling. He is having a look to see whether

:30:57. > :31:02.the red... It is difficult to describe it, just to the left-hand

:31:02. > :31:12.side of the cluster of reds will pass the red that is near the

:31:12. > :31:28.

:31:28. > :31:38.That are the wren I thought he was looking up previously. -- that is

:31:38. > :31:38.

:31:38. > :32:56.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:32:56. > :33:03.the red. He has cannoned it. It This is the sort of opportunity you

:33:03. > :33:13.must take full advantage of. Roared has already 32 points to the good.

:33:13. > :33:25.

:33:25. > :33:30.We saw a remarkable comeback yesterday evening from Alan McManus.

:33:30. > :33:40.Different format now we have reached the quarter-final stage.

:33:40. > :33:41.

:33:41. > :33:46.The best of nine with an interval. Are you a fan of no interval?

:33:46. > :33:56.How many times have you seen that in a any sport turn things around

:33:56. > :33:58.

:33:58. > :34:07.for the opposing team, or in our case, our opponent. --? The whole

:34:07. > :34:16.pattern of the game can change. I do not see the need for it. That is

:34:16. > :34:26.coming from a person who holds The Record for the longest frame ever,

:34:26. > :34:45.

:34:45. > :34:55.98 minutes. I know, and I was fit 41 points in front. He played the

:34:55. > :35:02.

:35:02. > :35:07.cannon nicely. Well played. He He does not feel the had a good

:35:07. > :35:13.contact there. He has left himself slightly higher on the black and he

:35:13. > :35:23.wanted to be. He still needs a couple of reds to keep this frame -

:35:23. > :36:00.

:36:00. > :36:04.Still 67 remaining on the table. Knowledgeable audience recognise

:36:04. > :36:13.that Ding Junhui has lost his first frame at last this evening. He

:36:13. > :36:18.could have lost a couple of others. It is always difficult to see

:36:18. > :36:28.yourself winning when you're a 4-0 down, but you have to think

:36:28. > :36:28.

:36:28. > :37:14.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:37:14. > :37:24.yourself, what can I do to keep my He has kept his chances of making a

:37:24. > :37:24.

:37:24. > :38:49.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:38:49. > :38:54.Well done, Robert Milkins. A good way to open your account. Fantastic

:38:54. > :39:04.shot on the black. That is more like the Robert Milkins I know. He

:39:04. > :39:06.

:39:06. > :39:16.Could he stage a remarkable fightback? Into frame six, Ding

:39:16. > :39:32.

:39:32. > :39:40.Things are just beginning to a go wrong Ford being at the moment. --

:39:40. > :39:46.for Ding Junhui. A chance for Robert to cut a red in as a shot to

:39:46. > :39:53.nothing. Just having a look to see if there is the chance of a three-

:39:53. > :39:59.ball plant. I don't think he needs to take a risk like this. I agree

:39:59. > :40:04.with you. But you know that Ding Junhui will. Whatever he does, he

:40:04. > :40:09.is going to have to put it in a position where Ding Junhui does not

:40:09. > :40:19.have to play the three-ball -- does not get to play the three-ball

:40:19. > :40:57.

:40:57. > :41:00.plant. I was unlucky. Perfect cue He overscrewed that slightly. As

:41:00. > :41:10.long as he misses a kiss on the brown, he should be able to get

:41:10. > :41:18.

:41:18. > :41:28.back up to be reds. The one next to the pink pots. He is 42 points

:41:28. > :41:28.

:41:28. > :42:37.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:42:37. > :42:47.behind but he has just become He played that nicely. He needed to

:42:47. > :43:08.

:43:08. > :43:18.Still 20 points behind. He will I am always a believer in playing

:43:18. > :43:19.

:43:19. > :43:24.for the ball colour after the red. -- baulk. I think further on in

:43:24. > :43:29.this break, should he pot the remaining red, he can leave himself

:43:29. > :43:35.a nice angle on the green. He may be in -- able to put that blew into

:43:35. > :43:40.the middle of the table. I wonder if you will be thinking that later?

:43:40. > :43:50.He is trying to do a little bit of maths at to see if he can get into

:43:50. > :43:58.

:43:58. > :44:08.the wing position without having to He will be taking Dominics tries --

:44:08. > :44:12.

:44:12. > :44:20.I wonder if he is going to do it now, the shot that Domenech

:44:20. > :44:30.suggested? We're not saying the blue is not in a good position of.

:44:30. > :45:00.

:45:00. > :45:10.But it would be a lot easier to It is a bit risky to play the

:45:10. > :45:17.

:45:17. > :45:21.cannon. He will have to stun it to This is the key shot for Robert

:45:21. > :45:31.Milkins. If he can get on the blue nasty, it is end of March. Does he

:45:31. > :45:37.

:45:37. > :45:47.I don't think that is any good as far as getting on the pink is

:45:47. > :45:58.

:45:58. > :46:08.Whatever you do, don't risk position by playing the blue a hard.

:46:08. > :46:44.

:46:44. > :46:54.He needs the rest, I think. This is It looked like it was going to be

:46:54. > :47:02.

:47:02. > :47:06.everywhere. -- a run away. He has What a good performance. He won the

:47:06. > :47:16.opening four frames, went a little bit quiet for a while. And he

:47:16. > :47:23.eventually wins by one. I played very relaxed today. We both played

:47:23. > :47:31.no good when the match started. Getting in the game earlier, I am

:47:31. > :47:35.playing better. He also had some pressure. He missed some easy balls.

:47:35. > :47:41.Just take my chance. When you look at the statistics, this guy is

:47:41. > :47:44.playing so well. And efficiently clinical display? He is playing

:47:44. > :47:49.absolutely fantastic. I commentated on the first match of the

:47:49. > :47:54.tournament when he played and had two centuries back to back. In the
