:00:38. > :00:43.Good afternoon from the players practice room at the Motorpoint
:00:44. > :00:48.Arena. They are busy limbering up, for second-round matches, down to 64
:00:49. > :00:51.players and what a day it could be for Welsh snooker. The main man mark
:00:52. > :00:55.Williams going out yesterday so we are looking for a new local hero.
:00:56. > :01:03.Plenty of Welsh hopefuls for you to follow on day three.
:01:04. > :01:09.A former quarterfinalists for the World Championship and a tough
:01:10. > :01:15.second-round tie fully walker against last year's runner-up Neil
:01:16. > :01:21.Robertson. Could this be Ryan's day? Could he have more success after
:01:22. > :01:26.making the final of last week's Grand Prix? Michael White made the
:01:27. > :01:31.last eight in 2016 but can he overcome English open winner Liang
:01:32. > :01:39.Wenbo? Will there be more joyful Jackson? The Welsh Open continues
:01:40. > :01:43.for the 15-year-old wild card. So much going on from a Welsh
:01:44. > :01:44.perspective today and it all started this morning. Guaranteed to lose one
:01:45. > :01:54.Welsh player. This is the moment dale got the
:01:55. > :02:04.better of the man who turned 29 yesterday.
:02:05. > :02:08.This probably means he will have a big grin on himself all afternoon as
:02:09. > :02:19.our studio summariser. At the age of 45, you could still be
:02:20. > :02:25.the future of Welsh snooker? That sounds nice! A great victory for
:02:26. > :02:28.you? Jamie is a great player with a good pedigree. Quarterfinals of the
:02:29. > :02:33.World Championships. Best of seven is a lot of pressure on anyone. He
:02:34. > :02:39.is regarded as one of the rising stars of the game. In Wales. To beat
:02:40. > :02:45.him is a pretty good achievement. It is and practice... I lived in Neath
:02:46. > :02:52.and practised with Michael White as well. Both great players and they
:02:53. > :02:55.bring themselves on, a bit of healthy competition. Michael is
:02:56. > :03:00.doing better at the moment but that can change. Jamie is a great player.
:03:01. > :03:03.Mark Williams went out and Matthew Stevens the day before, we need guys
:03:04. > :03:06.like Michael White and Jamie Jones to step up in Wales to prove what
:03:07. > :03:12.they have to win these big tournaments. It is a great loss for
:03:13. > :03:16.Wales, mark Williams. I was commentating and he struggled early
:03:17. > :03:23.on. His opponent really held himself together. Matthew had a very tough
:03:24. > :03:27.draw and didn't get through against Stuart Bingham. It is tough out
:03:28. > :03:32.there. A lot of pressure on the Welsh players as well, their home
:03:33. > :03:35.country. We are about to find out shortly if another 40-something
:03:36. > :03:41.Welshman can make round three. It is a rather difficult challenge in
:03:42. > :03:45.front of him. Neil Robertson, world number seven, lifted the Welsh Open
:03:46. > :03:47.trophy in 2007 and finished runner-up to Ronnie O'Sullivan last
:03:48. > :04:01.year, is the man standing between Liam Walker a place in round three?
:04:02. > :04:03.Very pleased to win. Wasn't the greatest performances. Made a couple
:04:04. > :04:09.of nice breaks in the last few frames. I just needed a win. I have
:04:10. > :04:13.lost their last few matches and when you have lost a few of the trot, it
:04:14. > :04:17.is quite difficult. Just really pleased to get a victory. Coming
:04:18. > :04:25.here before and beating top players, it makes you think, always doubting
:04:26. > :04:30.yourself, a little bit. You think that maybe two years ago I would go
:04:31. > :04:34.through against Dale so obviously it gives you some extra confidence. You
:04:35. > :04:40.come here and this is an open draw so you could get anyone. The German
:04:41. > :04:43.masters was an open draw and I drew Neil Robertson first round.
:04:44. > :04:48.Everybody said he is struggling a bit, a good time to play him and he
:04:49. > :04:54.never missed a ball. He played fantastic. A great player. He has
:04:55. > :04:58.won much everything there is to win. I am under no illusion it will be a
:04:59. > :05:04.tough game. This is a good thing about sport. Some days the underdog
:05:05. > :05:09.does prevail so hopefully that will be one of the days. Here are the key
:05:10. > :05:36.stats for these two. It was a big shot to see mark
:05:37. > :05:52.Williams go out yesterday, can fellow Welshman Lee Walker provide a
:05:53. > :05:58.shock of his own? Good afternoon, everybody, a mother Welsh player
:05:59. > :06:03.comes to the phone. This player works with a lot of young players in
:06:04. > :06:10.Wales. Played Neil Robertson two occasions before. Excellent victory
:06:11. > :06:14.against Jimmy White in the previous round when he played very well and
:06:15. > :06:22.had two century breaks. Won the match 4-1.
:06:23. > :06:31.The customary handshake before they start. Liam Walker to break. Another
:06:32. > :06:33.sizeable crowd, to see one of the best players in the world in Neil
:06:34. > :07:01.Robertson and Lee Walker. Lee Walker, a tight first round.
:07:02. > :07:02.Very steady player, got to the quarterfinal of the World
:07:03. > :07:16.Championships in 1997. He has been off talk once or twice,
:07:17. > :07:22.doing a lot of coaching now. Also receiving some coaching from Steven
:07:23. > :08:08.Feeney. Alignment, a very important part of these players' techniques.
:08:09. > :08:25.A little bit disappointed with Neil Robertson over the last year and a
:08:26. > :08:31.half. Undoubtedly one of the game's great players. One of the few to
:08:32. > :08:34.have won the triple crown but has slightly lost his way little bit but
:08:35. > :08:40.looks to be getting back on form now. Played in the Grand Prix last
:08:41. > :08:45.week, played excellently against Jimmy White in this first round
:08:46. > :08:54.here. I expect big things from Neil Robertson this week.
:08:55. > :09:03.He lost to Barry Hopkins in the Grand Prix. The table didn't play
:09:04. > :09:09.great for either of them. He said afterwards, he thought he got to him
:09:10. > :09:13.a little bit. It is the worst you can do out there, when in bad
:09:14. > :09:15.conditions, that is how you are and you have to do the best with them
:09:16. > :09:20.but it is frustrating for the players. When the ball goes on to
:09:21. > :09:29.the cushion and comes off about 200 miles an hour, you are about four
:09:30. > :09:36.foot out of position. He is deadly on the balls when he is on form.
:09:37. > :09:42.Incredible amount of centuries. Over 100 centuries in the season, wasn't
:09:43. > :09:45.he? I am not sure if that will be beaten again. Would you buy two
:09:46. > :10:57.tournaments, it could be but an amazing performance.
:10:58. > :11:06.Obviously finish the top side of the blue. Overran a slightly but still a
:11:07. > :11:12.nice angle on the green. You could play the yellow off one to play red
:11:13. > :11:16.to the right of the pack. The green around two cushions. You just have
:11:17. > :11:44.to miss the Kiss on the blue. If you do that, you will be perfect.
:11:45. > :11:53.I have been impressed with Neil Robertson's cue option. One of these
:11:54. > :11:57.players who looks so straight, it is untrue and delivers the cue very
:11:58. > :12:00.straight. You get the feeling, when you are playing against him, I
:12:01. > :12:07.should think when the balls are open, almost certainly he will make
:12:08. > :12:12.most of them. If he doesn't get a frame over, you will probably be
:12:13. > :12:16.safe. That was a good shot. Needed some power to get into that pack
:12:17. > :12:24.with the top spin off the side cushion. That was a very dead pack,
:12:25. > :12:36.the cue ball hit the pack at pace and very little happened. But he has

:12:52. > :12:56.Australia, came back with just ?500 in his pocket and the rest is
:12:57. > :12:59.history. Now one of the game's all-time great players. Really
:13:00. > :13:04.impressed with his temperament, break-building, there is very little

:13:24. > :13:30.bit, I think that in its own way, made him a little more aggressive.
:13:31. > :13:33.His safety play is very good. He had a few years ago... He was leaning on

:14:06. > :14:11.surprised he is looking at this one. He might put it but he might not
:14:12. > :14:42.have a better chance to get rid of that red van now. -- than now.
:14:43. > :14:49.Great pot but as you can see, the next red is very difficult. If he
:14:50. > :14:54.had got rid of the red two away from the back, it would have been easier
:14:55. > :15:04.to break. I would personally take the green and go into the bunch. I
:15:05. > :15:05.don't see the point of taking yellow unless he can get tight on the side

:15:23. > :15:42.has certainly missed a trick on the first few shots.
:15:43. > :15:55.He has been playing on the main circuit. Mark Williams... He will be
:15:56. > :16:02.learning a lot from him. Watching the tournament players during the
:16:03. > :16:09.season. It does help. They are a bit tough, I can tell you that. He
:16:10. > :17:10.doesn't give up easily. A bit like Mark Williams.
:17:11. > :17:17.You can clearly see he didn't get into the cue at hole at all in plain

:17:28. > :17:33.score more than that. But the first frame, very hard to get into your
:17:34. > :17:35.stride immediately. Both players have had one chance each. Robertson

:19:12. > :19:15.All players like to feel... This isn't perfect, the brown in the
:19:16. > :19:21.centre. If he didn't want to do that, he could roll up and create

:19:27. > :19:45.You can see the effort in his eyes. Gives everything to every shot. Not
:19:46. > :19:53.quite sure what he played for, the red that is closest... And he does.
:19:54. > :19:56.He could still cut this one in that he will have to play it with check

:20:13. > :20:13.because the balls are close together, it will be difficult to

:20:33. > :20:36.the black and missed the red, probably has to do something to go
:20:37. > :20:43.forward. Turns out he is tight on the cushion.

:21:23. > :22:26.control. It is a little bit heavy. That is the very telling safety
:22:27. > :22:32.shot. He can just click this thread but it is slightly thick and it will
:22:33. > :22:40.cannoned into the black. It might be an idea to play cushion first and
:22:41. > :22:47.that takes away kissing the black. That is what he has played.
:22:48. > :22:57.Unfortunately, he just needed to be a bit further right on there. Just

:25:30. > :25:41.the cue at the right speed... The way he pots,... Unfortunate and look
:25:42. > :25:46.at the reds. It is a free ball. That is what he has earned. By not

:38:03. > :38:05.match against one of the game's great players, and he has performed
:38:06. > :38:08.brilliantly in that first game but it is the best of seven now.
:38:09. > :38:12.Pressure on Neil Robertson to the second frame because he doesn't he
:38:13. > :38:17.will be on the ropes. Certainly will be. Let's go back, Neil Robertson
:38:18. > :38:20.the break. Let's rejoin Willey and Terry.
:38:21. > :38:32.COMMENTATOR: The one thing in leave's favour is that he is not a
:38:33. > :38:40.great expectation. -- in Lee's favour. He now knows he is playing
:38:41. > :38:47.against a player who has got a very good temperament, and doesn't cave
:38:48. > :38:50.in easily. It goes without saying he is not up to standard of Neil
:38:51. > :39:00.Robertson, who has won so many tournaments. Beating a lot of the
:39:01. > :39:02.top players on the circuit last year but has not pushed forward yet.
:39:03. > :39:33.Plenty of time. Just what the doctor did not order,
:39:34. > :40:14.that kiss. Neil Robertson is one of the players
:40:15. > :40:20.who doesn't use the length of his backswing to judge the pace of the
:40:21. > :40:23.shot. He delivers the cue a little bit slower or faster to get his
:40:24. > :40:31.position, which is excellent, of course. And his greatest asset is
:40:32. > :40:52.his grip. It is a major part of technique.
:40:53. > :41:06.Got into them very nicely, at first glance appear to have pushed a red
:41:07. > :41:21.into an easily portable position. This will test his cueing. Never in
:41:22. > :41:40.doubt. One of the great potters. Excellent pot.
:41:41. > :41:49.Always seems to look very comfortable out there. Wasn't quite
:41:50. > :41:53.what he used to do years ago. Ended up there with the top players,
:41:54. > :41:58.winning the big events, the major tournaments. I don't care how good
:41:59. > :42:04.you are, you have got to have some belief. You have got to have some
:42:05. > :42:11.hope that you will play every time go out well. Neil works hard on that
:42:12. > :42:17.matters by his improvement has come so quickly over the last five or six
:42:18. > :42:23.years possibly. 2010 he won the world? Yes, I think it was, and that
:42:24. > :42:28.was a fabulous performance. The first overseas player since Cliff
:42:29. > :42:32.Thorburn to do so. He had a little bit of disappointment in his face
:42:33. > :42:36.when he did not get the desired screw back he wanted. Now he will
:42:37. > :42:54.have to try to run a bit of a gap during the two roads. That has not
:42:55. > :43:03.worked. He will just have to think. Did not look like he could get on
:43:04. > :43:12.the pink but clearly he has. Niall in the 2010 World Championship was
:43:13. > :43:21.11-5 down. He came to win it 13-10 or whatever it was, and went on to
:43:22. > :43:24.win the title. You would like to think that most of the young players
:43:25. > :43:26.who were watching that would always take a lesson from it. You should
:43:27. > :44:53.never give up. Clearly not happy with the angle he
:44:54. > :45:12.has got on this loom. It looked like it was wrote it in.
:45:13. > :45:18.If he gets the kissing would have been nowhere but just went by that.
:45:19. > :45:23.-- if he gets the kiss, it would have been nowhere. He did kiss it
:45:24. > :45:48.but very thin. Trying to screw back the pink. To
:45:49. > :46:52.bring those for roads into play. -- four reds into play.
:46:53. > :47:03.He left himself a little bit too thin on this black. He can play the
:47:04. > :47:07.shot into the pack, but tough pot. If the black is a little bit thicker
:47:08. > :47:12.than that, he has choices of where he can screw into the pack. When it
:47:13. > :47:15.is a thin cut, you can't get enough spin. Came out OK, though. Very
:47:16. > :47:38.impressive. When he made 38 centuries this
:47:39. > :47:41.season, and sometime in the next two or three tournaments he will be
:47:42. > :48:08.passing the 500 mark on the centuries. He has 493 altogether.
:48:09. > :48:21.Just having a look if he can get on those routes. The pink is the best
:48:22. > :48:43.option to get on them -- the reds. I like the positive way he walks
:48:44. > :49:06.round and into the shot. APPLAUSE
:49:07. > :49:21.There is the century. A big crowd here today. Where else would they
:49:22. > :49:33.want to be? Watching the snooker. A lovely venue here in Cardiff.
:49:34. > :49:42.Different setup of course this year, there are more tables in this side
:49:43. > :49:55.of the arena, people can watch more tables at the same time.
:49:56. > :50:11.133 is possible. As adding 140 is the top now, is it?
:50:12. > :50:26.Brilliant. He had a poor first frame but that was brilliant.
:50:27. > :50:30.Very impressive stuff from Robertson. The first frame was
:50:31. > :50:34.nearly half an hour long, that one done and dusted inside 12 minutes.
:50:35. > :50:39.Lee Walker, one of six Welsh players in action across the day. Let's take
:50:40. > :50:43.you to table two and show you what has been taking place, echoes this
:50:44. > :50:49.is Jackson page. You will remember the 15-year-old wild card from Ebbw
:50:50. > :50:53.Vale have got through to round two in action against John Astley. He
:50:54. > :50:59.missed the pink, the youngster, giving Astley the opportunity to get
:51:00. > :51:03.back in and take this frame. But the very fact that he made it here was a
:51:04. > :51:10.great story. The fact that he got through to round two, Jackson Page,
:51:11. > :51:14.is another thing. The refit for him. Absolutely, great experience for
:51:15. > :51:18.Jackson Page. Playing on beautiful tables with new cloth son
:51:19. > :51:22.everything, big crowds watching it is all a new experience. He will
:51:23. > :51:28.learn a great deal from this and I'm sure he will enjoy every minute.
:51:29. > :51:31.John Astley, 78 in the world rankings. You talk about what it
:51:32. > :51:37.will do for him, Tyler Breeze as well, the other Welsh wild card,
:51:38. > :51:43.what will this do playing in this first tournament -- Tyler Rees. When
:51:44. > :51:45.they turn professional and they are on the tour, they will see what
:51:46. > :51:50.standard they need to play at. They will be playing other matches as
:51:51. > :51:55.well to see what the standard is like, how the tables are playing and
:51:56. > :52:06.learning all the time because this is a great opportunity. We will keep
:52:07. > :52:10.you posted. In terms of the game we are watching, great response by Neil
:52:11. > :52:15.Robertson. That is more like it for a player from his calibre. Fantastic
:52:16. > :52:20.performance, the way he lost that frame, very unlucky to do so and Lee
:52:21. > :52:25.Walker did so well to respond. He was hitting the ball so well. I
:52:26. > :52:29.share Terry 's views of Neil Robertson 's cue action, the
:52:30. > :52:34.greatest I have seen in the game. Your fingers come of the cue as they
:52:35. > :52:38.bring the cue back and come back on the cue as you strike the ball. That
:52:39. > :52:45.is where your timing comes from. Neil has got the best transition I
:52:46. > :52:51.have ever seen. Let's see what Lee Walker can muster. In the frame
:52:52. > :52:55.three. Back we go. COMMENTATOR: Very interesting to listen to Dominic
:52:56. > :52:59.talking about the cue power and the cue action of Neil Robertson. He has
:53:00. > :53:04.the perfect cue action, I agree. The only thing that worries me today the
:53:05. > :53:08.three times when he has played a stunning shot, he has decelerated.
:53:09. > :53:11.Whether he is just doubting that wonderful cue action, I do now. He
:53:12. > :53:21.made a 133 the last frame! When he is on song, he is a very
:53:22. > :53:44.tough man to stop. Very consistent, his cue action, if
:53:45. > :53:49.you look at him. He does the preparation shot, three of those,
:53:50. > :53:58.and every shot, and then pulls it back end trudged through the cue
:53:59. > :54:05.ball. And he is intimidating when you are on the chair. Lee hasn't had
:54:06. > :54:14.a chance and see when the first frame. With the top players, they
:54:15. > :54:18.have a run of two or three friends when they score and you are sitting
:54:19. > :54:26.down, and then when you do get a chance you don't feel you have any
:54:27. > :54:37.touch or feel for it. It is a good seat to watch from.
:54:38. > :54:46.Just have a look now at the length of the backswing, right back to his
:54:47. > :54:52.son. Ten inches perhaps, he could bit more, ten or 11 is common. Did
:54:53. > :55:08.not need a lot of power. But it suits him. This is not a great pack
:55:09. > :55:11.to screw into. The outside red obviously pots, which in fairness
:55:12. > :55:16.there are such a perfect angle on the black that he may not play for
:55:17. > :55:23.that loose red. He can only get 11 in middle pocket. Could not possibly
:55:24. > :55:26.get that one in the corner from the weather pack were situated. That is
:55:27. > :55:39.what I thought in commentary, getting on the one loose red there
:55:40. > :55:44.may have been a better choice. Lee Walker will be pretty pleased that
:55:45. > :55:51.it looks like he has broken down. One on the extreme right hand side
:55:52. > :55:58.will pop into the corner. Does this one pot into the middle? It
:55:59. > :56:03.certainly does. At first glance to look like he was on anything. All
:56:04. > :56:17.about fractions, this game, isn't it? He get these runs of
:56:18. > :56:20.high-scoring. Just relentless. The best that Lee Walker can do at the
:56:21. > :56:34.moment is just have a cup of tea and just enjoy the master. Really
:56:35. > :56:48.tremendous. Making a very difficult game look very easy. Had a kick. The
:56:49. > :56:53.ball obviously bounces before it hits the cue ball. That sometimes
:56:54. > :56:57.takes a little bit of pace out of it. You saw the white, just that
:56:58. > :57:01.little bit of bounce. It actually bounced before the black. Still has
:57:02. > :57:26.a choice of two rates. -- reds. He is one of those that is as level
:57:27. > :57:36.as anybody on the circuit, I should think. Level and straight with the
:57:37. > :57:40.cue action is a great asset. If I could put like him, I may have
:57:41. > :57:51.beaten you once or twice. Trasch pot like him.
:57:52. > :57:58.This now looks like he will take a 2-1 lead in a matter of minutes.
:57:59. > :58:03.Just under 12 minutes, the previous round, where he made a very good
:58:04. > :58:09.one, 3-3. Five minutes in this frame, and very close to making it a
:58:10. > :58:17.frame-winning break. It will be tough now for leave. Robertson
:58:18. > :58:30.appears to be in superb form. -- for Lee.
:58:31. > :58:41.Did not sound like a click. In my ears you can hear the click. When he
:58:42. > :58:49.punches the ball, he hit it beautifully. When he is rolling
:58:50. > :59:13.balls in... One more red, the killer, and it is frame over.
:59:14. > :59:20.The good thing about Robertson 's cue action, the transaction from the
:59:21. > :59:31.-- the transition from the backswing to the forward swing is more or less
:59:32. > :59:40.the same every shot. Not quite. Again, he is not happy. He just has
:59:41. > :59:45.to look at the scoreboard. Looks like going 2-1 in front, for
:59:46. > :59:56.certain. Should not be blowing too much. He has pride in his work. He
:59:57. > :00:01.was the support that the last black came off a little bit square. He was
:00:02. > :00:24.expecting to clear, which are still might do. And he probably will now.
:00:25. > :00:32.Spending the rest of his time in Cambridge now, plays at the snooker
:00:33. > :00:45.club there and practices with Joe Perry a lot.
:00:46. > :00:56.I thought he was going for the middle pocket there. Excellent,
:00:57. > :01:24.again. Onto the cushion for a choice of reds.
:01:25. > :01:33.Does not get a lot better than that... An attempt now to keep the
:01:34. > :01:43.highest break... Just checking the school board, trying to work out
:01:44. > :01:54.what he needs -- the school board. -- score board. I've just been told
:01:55. > :02:07.in one of the outside tables, O'Brien made 142. I don't know if he
:02:08. > :02:34.is aware of that. But red and black, 143.
:02:35. > :02:43.In some ways, the 133 was played to perfection, he lost position a
:02:44. > :02:48.couple of times in this break, but got back in with excellent pots.
:02:49. > :03:28.That flew off the back cushion. This is amazing, back-to-back total
:03:29. > :03:33.clearances. Previous frame one through three, the next 143, he is
:03:34. > :03:36.going up intense, Robertson takes the frame quite easily obviously,
:03:37. > :03:47.winning that one going to having one in front. FUNKY MUSIC
:03:48. > :03:50.-- 2-1 in front. Michael Jordan, I loved skip or growing up in
:03:51. > :03:56.Australia. Cathy Freeman, winning the gold medal at the Sydney
:03:57. > :03:58.Olympics, it was an incredible moment for Australian sport.
:03:59. > :04:04.Football, the grounds are incredible. My last day of school
:04:05. > :04:08.only turned up to PE and went to my dad 's club to practice, the school
:04:09. > :04:13.called me up and me not to bother coming in any more. I have a classic
:04:14. > :04:14.cue which I've had since the age of 15.
:04:15. > :04:19.The Crucible. A unique atmosphere, the cloud as soap -- the crowd is so
:04:20. > :04:23.close. There's no better place to play
:04:24. > :04:27.snooker. No idea! I would be in Australia, that's for sure! Wearing
:04:28. > :04:37.my beanie hat, hardly ever, but if I'm not, quite often. Joe Perry,
:04:38. > :04:41.Mark Davis... We would have good verbal chat. My most embarrassing
:04:42. > :04:46.moment was when I forgot my shoes, I bought a terrible pair of shoes, and
:04:47. > :04:50.lost the first session 8-0, I thought the shoes looked terrible
:04:51. > :04:55.and they were really uncomfortable. It got to me. If I'm in the UK I
:04:56. > :05:03.would like to stay involved in the game doing some commentary, or some
:05:04. > :05:07.coaching. We have all bought terrible pairs of shoes, that's for
:05:08. > :05:13.sure! Lee Walker, heading back into the arena there. But what will he be
:05:14. > :05:17.thinking? 2-1 down, you said two excellent frames of snooker from
:05:18. > :05:22.Robertson? Faultless perfection. I'm beginning to think it was not a good
:05:23. > :05:28.idea. Walker won the first frame, it's annoyed me! Let's go back over
:05:29. > :05:36.to the table before we resume this match, Jackson Page, at the table,
:05:37. > :05:40.it's now 1-1 in his game against John Astley, it continues to go very
:05:41. > :05:48.well for the wild card from ever Vale, 1-1 against him on table two.
:05:49. > :05:51.It's a great expense for him? Fantastic he is learning all the
:05:52. > :05:56.time and will know that he's possibly cut out for the big time,
:05:57. > :06:03.he is not afraid of the crowds or dumber phobic, he is loving every
:06:04. > :06:05.minute of it. As youngsters do. They love the big atmosphere, the
:06:06. > :06:09.youngsters, they love showing everyone what they are capable of.
:06:10. > :06:17.On the main table, what response does Lee Walker have? To one down.
:06:18. > :06:26.At least he is off his chair... Down to two frames, that is not great.
:06:27. > :06:37.COMMENTATOR: A good response that. Robertson losing the first frame.
:06:38. > :06:52.A very good safety shot. Considering he's not had much table time. Over
:06:53. > :07:05.23 minutes. That seems like about three hours, take it from me, when
:07:06. > :07:18.you are out there. You cannot pot everything. He certainly went all
:07:19. > :07:30.out for that one, didn't he? There have been a few points without
:07:31. > :07:41.reply. After the last two games. The red that he is closest to, looks
:07:42. > :07:46.like he can hold it for the black. He sat out for two frames, this is
:07:47. > :07:59.not an easy chance, where the black and the panenka. -- and the pink R.
:08:00. > :08:02.Oh dear, when you are sat on your chair for 20 minutes, it feels like
:08:03. > :08:11.two or three hours when you have this shot.
:08:12. > :08:19.Now, that's 276 will go up quite a bit. There could be another big
:08:20. > :09:15.break... Talk about bad packs to go in for,
:09:16. > :09:19.this is not great. He can play the calendar pack knowing that he has
:09:20. > :09:24.the red in the corner pocket, he would not play the cannon if the red
:09:25. > :09:27.was not over the corner. He knows whatever happens, he's bound to be
:09:28. > :09:32.on the red over the corner, now he has the reds in the perfect
:09:33. > :09:48.position. That is good brick building. Could we have a possible
:09:49. > :09:54.three centuries on the trot? He made two against White in the first
:09:55. > :10:25.round, and has done two in this, that is four centuries so far.
:10:26. > :10:40.That was not the best. That was a bit thinner than he would have liked
:10:41. > :10:45.to have had. Again, he is having a few problems with the conditions out
:10:46. > :10:56.there. Not the same everyday, believe it or not... This is a more
:10:57. > :11:16.difficult shot and because of that committee put more effort into it.
:11:17. > :11:25.Slightly underhit, wanted to be straight on the blue than this.
:11:26. > :11:31.Could take it nine or ten inches, get that into the corner. See how
:11:32. > :12:57.straight he hits this one, it is supposed be a straight red.
:12:58. > :13:03.A little bit unlucky with a kiss on the red, two down from the pink,
:13:04. > :13:11.that would have left him perfect. Not pushing the boat out here, I do
:13:12. > :13:20.not think. Good recovery, needing another good one though. Could
:13:21. > :13:27.easily get onto the black. He will miss the kiss on the yellow. But of
:13:28. > :13:32.course, it's when it comes back of the baulk cushion, you can miss
:13:33. > :13:37.another again. I'm not sure whether he can go from the right-hand side,
:13:38. > :13:44.he wants side on this blue, if you can. He is hampered. This is he
:13:45. > :13:49.could miss this. He has the match in complete control here, he does not
:13:50. > :13:54.want to push the boat out too much. That's good thinking, pushing the
:13:55. > :14:10.brown to the side cushion. Not taking any risk, perfect match
:14:11. > :14:13.placekicker. -- play snooker. I thought he was looking more for a
:14:14. > :14:18.century break again, I cannot blame him. We have to be positive. But
:14:19. > :14:25.certainly could have got on the loose red and carried on from there.
:14:26. > :14:28.But not everybody selects the same shot in the same position as others.
:14:29. > :14:47.Everybody has got their favourite kinds of shots.
:14:48. > :15:02.This is handy, a clip on the brown there. That red would have been on
:15:03. > :15:42.the corner otherwise. Normally plays 331 points, Lee Walker.
:15:43. > :15:48.Giving him half a chance with a red in the middle now. Yes, he played to
:15:49. > :15:56.leave the white on the cushion in the black spot area, overrunning it
:15:57. > :16:03.by some three feet. Another excellent pot. Sometimes you are out
:16:04. > :16:08.there and cannot do anything right, then you get the first frame with
:16:09. > :16:11.some excellent snooker and since then, you can certainly play second
:16:12. > :16:15.fiddle to the man at the table now. Not doing an awful lot from
:16:16. > :16:21.committee played one bad safety shot, one bad break off, and that is
:16:22. > :16:25.its -- not doing an awful lot wrong, he played. Tip on the black spot
:16:26. > :16:50.there. This is a barrage of scoring. Too thin. Wouldn't this be a frame
:16:51. > :17:46.to pinch? Feeling great having sat out for 30
:17:47. > :17:54.odd minutes and then some 300 points without reply...
:17:55. > :17:56.It did not look possible to win the first frame when the balls were in
:17:57. > :18:06.the position that they were, they are not any better here. Hmm... I
:18:07. > :18:12.don't know whether they would have played the kiss or the red off the
:18:13. > :18:23.middle. Wherever it was, he did not play it well. I mentioned that you
:18:24. > :18:29.lose your touch out there, these players do not have to think, it's
:18:30. > :18:37.all automatic. You practice so much, and... You've still got a chance, it
:18:38. > :18:40.is a little bit slim. I would not blame him for cutting into the
:18:41. > :18:44.middle and moving of the side cushion, he's bound to be on the
:18:45. > :18:49.pink or the blue. He needs the red and play because the white is going
:18:50. > :19:01.to be playing ball, he would not go near the red, but on the right-hand
:19:02. > :19:12.side, he will. That's good, he deserves to be onto something very
:19:13. > :19:14.good. Giving himself a chance. Certainly one of the best shots that
:19:15. > :19:35.he has played. In quite a while. He pinches the first frame, they
:19:36. > :20:02.pinch this one as well. He's got a lot of points to play
:20:03. > :20:14.with here, potting two reds, two blacks, playing for the one in the
:20:15. > :20:20.baulk area. This puts on 40 points behind. If he gets nicely onto the
:20:21. > :20:29.red, he can get onto the black quite easily. Well done. What a pinch it
:20:30. > :20:33.would be, if he can clear up from here. He could possibly come out
:20:34. > :20:36.2-2, having seen what Neil Robertson has done with these two frames. It
:20:37. > :21:00.would be a big feather in his cap. Anything but straight. The problem
:21:01. > :21:04.is we saw him play this shot earlier in the match, he did not get it on
:21:05. > :21:07.the left-hand side, you can see his angle, just before the middle
:21:08. > :21:13.pocket, you need that much side on it. Maybe better off running through
:21:14. > :21:17.two cushions on the right-hand side rather than the screw back, I don't
:21:18. > :21:22.think he can get in behind the red off the reverse side of the cushion.
:21:23. > :21:25.You then have to worry about missing the kiss on the plea if you run
:21:26. > :21:30.through the right-hand side, playing a screw shot, you do well to get
:21:31. > :21:36.near the baulk line -- kiss on the blue.
:21:37. > :21:43.Now, does not want that go tight on the cushion, the safety shot is
:21:44. > :21:47.difficult. It is unlucky. It would have been so easy to stop the cue
:21:48. > :21:51.ball dead where the reddest, send the red round the table, snigger in
:21:52. > :21:57.behind the yellow committee cannot do it now. He is back in the frame
:21:58. > :22:19.-- where the red is, behind the yellow, he cannot do it now.
:22:20. > :22:28.He is trying to get some back spin by lifting his cue. He is the
:22:29. > :22:35.tallest player on the circuit, Lee Walker. A nice lad, well respected
:22:36. > :22:41.around the circuit. A good sense of humour. He is on tiptoes here. What
:22:42. > :23:03.about the old orange? He hit it really well, did not want
:23:04. > :23:14.that to kiss the green. Now then... This will be in the centre. In the
:23:15. > :23:20.frame if you get set... -- if he gets it. Ooh, hello! Expecting him
:23:21. > :23:30.to pot that. It is amazing, when you miss a shot, and how often you get
:23:31. > :23:34.away with it. Now, I'm not too sure whether Lee Walker can get to that
:23:35. > :23:36.red, if he does, it will be fine, then he will be pushing the red into
:23:37. > :23:59.a corner. That is a clever shot, and very well
:24:00. > :24:14.played. It should be a no luck game, really.
:24:15. > :24:20.Kissing the blue. They have a very thin cut in the middle. Because of
:24:21. > :24:27.that, the cue ball will be very difficult to control. If you can pot
:24:28. > :24:40.this and missed the green on the way back up in the centre, he could be
:24:41. > :24:46.on the pink. I think that he has been given a lifeline. It's worth
:24:47. > :24:55.taking. Into the black pocket but surely the middle pocket would be
:24:56. > :25:01.the easier shot? He won't be kissing the green, he will be coming out the
:25:02. > :25:06.baulk, if he plays into the corner... In the middle, he would be
:25:07. > :25:18.on the pink. In the corner, he is not bound to be on the pink or the
:25:19. > :25:23.blue nicely. It's a strange choice, he had no chance of getting away
:25:24. > :25:29.with it like that but the cut in the middle, he had every chance of
:25:30. > :25:34.getting away with it. I think he's just being positive, I cannot see
:25:35. > :25:41.how he could have taken the red, knowing at that pace, he has a
:25:42. > :25:45.chance to pot it, which he has... Did not have to go for a pot there,
:25:46. > :26:07.could have gone for a strong safety, really.
:26:08. > :26:12.It is a frame that could have gone either way in the end but Neil
:26:13. > :26:17.Robertson, once again, puts his foot of the pedal at the last minute, Lee
:26:18. > :26:22.Walker would be disappointed that he missed that last red, but now he
:26:23. > :26:26.trails 3-1. Look at this red, in commentary we talked about the cut
:26:27. > :26:29.in the middle, but he could play in the top pocket, if you play at the
:26:30. > :26:42.top, you need to play it quick enough to get away with it? That's
:26:43. > :26:46.why I said that he's not bound to get onto the pink or the blue, why
:26:47. > :26:49.not? If you play a pot, cut in the middle, you have a chance of getting
:26:50. > :26:49.away with it and you are certainly likely to be
:26:50. > :26:55.on the pink? That is one of the nice things about playing the game, you
:26:56. > :27:03.need to make a decision every time you get a chance on the table.
:27:04. > :27:08.This is a brilliant shot. He may have cleared up, who knows? He makes
:27:09. > :27:14.the decision, and should stand by it, nothing wrong with it. Same as
:27:15. > :27:18.you, he should have played safer, waiting for a better chance.
:27:19. > :27:27.He played a very good shot early on, to get back into the frame. This
:27:28. > :27:32.shot here, to bring the other red into play, that was excellent. It
:27:33. > :27:36.needs to clear, you know is that the pace that he is playing at, if he
:27:37. > :27:39.hits the red, he's bound to be on pink or blue and he played it
:27:40. > :27:46.perfectly. For one second I thought he would clear it, but the red was a
:27:47. > :27:53.cue ball. You've spent a lot of time watching Lee over the years, on and
:27:54. > :27:57.off the tour, I would not say he's a gentleman probity is hard-working?
:27:58. > :28:02.Yes, and he does a lot of coaching which I think has helped him to take
:28:03. > :28:05.pressure off the circuit. I don't think he has great expectations on
:28:06. > :28:11.the circuit at the moment you don't know. If you carry on learning there
:28:12. > :28:16.are always chances you can move forward. As I said earlier, you've
:28:17. > :28:19.got to get some belief in yourself that you can win these matches. It
:28:20. > :28:27.is a tough match for him today, and he's done OK, I think. He could have
:28:28. > :28:32.been close as well, 2-2. He was only one shot away from making it, if you
:28:33. > :28:43.twos that red, he was favourite to win the tour? -- if he pots that
:28:44. > :28:48.red, he was favourite to win the tour.
:28:49. > :28:53.Lee Walker with the point of no return, trailing by 3-1, and
:28:54. > :29:22.breaking off in frame five, has to win the remaining three.
:29:23. > :29:37.Amazing how nobody has developed a break off, he can guarantee leaving
:29:38. > :29:45.those shots off at times. I remember a time when players were coming off
:29:46. > :29:46.the back cushion, and into the pack slowly, playing the likes of
:29:47. > :30:01.Higgins. It's a good pressure pot, this
:30:02. > :30:05.balance will get off the cushion. I think it will be enough to get onto
:30:06. > :30:08.the red, potting just below the black. Could have done with a couple
:30:09. > :31:12.of inches of pace. Excellent. Did have a little flick
:31:13. > :31:17.off the pack but even if he did not get the little flick, he would have
:31:18. > :31:20.been on this red. Similar scenario to the one I talked about a few
:31:21. > :31:25.moments ago, you can risk playing into the pack, knowing you have that
:31:26. > :31:31.loose red, even though there are three reds available. Just playing
:31:32. > :31:34.for the loose one this time, may play into the pack of the next red,
:31:35. > :31:50.and black. It is one of those where you want to
:31:51. > :31:55.stun into the pack. Then you can come back somewhere near where the
:31:56. > :31:59.white is now but just wants to play the stun rather than the screw into
:32:00. > :32:06.the pack." The loose one. I am surprised, to be honest. OK, he is
:32:07. > :32:17.on a nice angle on this red, but you can't guarantee getting the pace
:32:18. > :32:25.exactly right here. I rest my case. A little bit fortunate there, Neil,
:32:26. > :32:33.because he has the blue which is a bit straight.
:32:34. > :33:55.He certainly looks somewhere near back to his best.
:33:56. > :34:05.Well, that was a surprise. Anything that is straight and stunning it you
:34:06. > :34:13.would expect Robertson to pot most of them.
:34:14. > :34:27.He definitely thought he was going to pot it. Now then, the, unexpected
:34:28. > :34:34.chance for you. Not quite sure if he is straight on this blue. Say that
:34:35. > :34:42.of course because it restricts the options of the next positional shot.
:34:43. > :35:25.The cue ball can either go straightforward or straight back.
:35:26. > :35:33.This is one of those if you are playing the plain blue ball you
:35:34. > :35:43.would maybe miss the kiss outside the the thing. If you do not, your
:35:44. > :35:50.OK. You would be very unlucky not to be on a red. OK, it is a bit
:35:51. > :35:57.dangerous playing a cannon with four loose reds. But it is a way of
:35:58. > :36:04.slowing the cue ball down. He has played the slow cannon. If they have
:36:05. > :36:10.lined up he is very, very unlucky. That is so unlucky. You could play
:36:11. > :36:14.that 20 times two would only do it once, and it would have to be this
:36:15. > :36:18.time. Very unfortunate. The one below the pink pots, though, but it
:36:19. > :36:51.is very difficult. It was a good pot. That was
:36:52. > :36:58.missable, especially after the disappointment of the splitting of
:36:59. > :37:04.the reds. If he was to carry on, he has a tricky yellow into the right
:37:05. > :37:15.corner. You can see the cue ball just slightly below the ball climb.
:37:16. > :37:23.So it is the thin cut. -- below the baulk line.
:37:24. > :37:52.That kiss made up for the last one that didn't go right. That was an
:37:53. > :37:56.excellent shot on the yellow. Next for roads and colours should not be
:37:57. > :38:06.a problem. He will move the one that is right on the side cushion -- four
:38:07. > :38:09.rates. The idea is to pot three reds, three colours. That is plenty
:38:10. > :38:47.of shots in advance. That has to be in his mind.
:38:48. > :38:54.Now this is half a chance here, he could stun the pink into the middle
:38:55. > :39:05.pocket, leave the red half full and play the cannon onto the red on the
:39:06. > :39:10.cushion. This definitely could be a chance in two shots time to move
:39:11. > :39:21.that red. He is playing the run-through.
:39:22. > :39:39.What has happened there? Goodness me. That was a strange choice. I
:39:40. > :39:45.tell you what happened there, he has got into a good position, if you
:39:46. > :39:54.ball is available, and just a little bit more pressure comes on you then.
:39:55. > :40:13.He will be very disappointed with that.
:40:14. > :40:23.We were talking earlier on, his cue option, Lee Walker, who plays with
:40:24. > :40:28.the tip very low on the cue ball, and then when he delivers the cue,
:40:29. > :40:32.it comes up a little bit of spin he requires. But of course if you don't
:40:33. > :40:37.time the delivery, you could get a little less spin venue needed, like
:40:38. > :40:52.having them. You should have stunned that and had an easy red. He has got
:40:53. > :41:03.Neil Robertson missing at the moment.
:41:04. > :41:08.Amazing how nothing kissed into another ball. Both red and white
:41:09. > :41:13.were going around the table at speed, neither of which made contact
:41:14. > :41:20.with the ball. It is basically one of those, do you take this short on
:41:21. > :41:27.or take the safety shot up and down? Robertson pots this to a fun, if you
:41:28. > :41:46.don't. All about the pace of the cue ball. And it is not there, I don't
:41:47. > :41:49.think. Yes, he had to play that shot with a touch of Czech side to avoid
:41:50. > :41:51.the red on the way back up and took a bit of pace out of it, but not
:41:52. > :42:21.bad. Fantastic arena, five tables on
:42:22. > :42:24.display in that picture. There are another three behind the commentary
:42:25. > :42:53.position, eight tables in total. A better pace of cue ball. The
:42:54. > :43:09.jumped up. He thought he had been put in -- Lee jumped up. No, not
:43:10. > :43:21.quite sure if that was a bit too thin, or he hit it a bit too hard.
:43:22. > :43:23.This red goes past the pink into the right corner, possibly. Looks like a
:43:24. > :43:53.better shot. It is amazing what happens out
:43:54. > :44:08.there. Robertson, two centuries and playing excellent, it is amazing
:44:09. > :44:11.what can happen out there. The balls find their own way to stop.
:44:12. > :44:13.Sometimes it is not in favour of the players and the frames are a little
:44:14. > :44:35.bit longer. Still, very interesting. The second long pot that he has
:44:36. > :45:24.missed by a long way. So even Neil Robertson misses them.
:45:25. > :45:35.I can only presume he has played a cannon into the green. We talked
:45:36. > :45:38.about his cue action a few times, cued very low at first and then on
:45:39. > :45:43.the strike he is hitting it a little bit higher and not getting the
:45:44. > :45:47.desired spin. He is looking at the very difficult black into the
:45:48. > :45:55.middle. Could play it into the corner. Both of which are fraught
:45:56. > :45:58.with danger. I think my co-commentator in the box would be
:45:59. > :46:00.playing thin off the left-hand side of the pink. Looks like he is taking
:46:01. > :46:13.it on. Well, my friend, you deserve
:46:14. > :46:19.everything you get. Excellent, very well played. Cueing down like that
:46:20. > :47:12.was by no means easy. Very good. You feel he needs to clean up from
:47:13. > :47:16.here, but the green is still a little bit tricky. Got to pot this
:47:17. > :47:19.with the rest and get on with the red at the top of the table. He is
:47:20. > :47:45.just one point behind now. Cropped it in for the black but he
:47:46. > :47:52.may play with the blue there. He is a good player with the rest. He has
:47:53. > :47:55.a bit of work to do, as Neil Luxon there. I wouldn't say he was
:47:56. > :48:08.worried, but he wasn't laughing either. Not a lot of room in between
:48:09. > :48:46.the pink and the blue here if he is playing the screw back.
:48:47. > :48:53.That was always going to test. He knew in the previous red he had to
:48:54. > :48:57.be closer to one of the object balls and have a good angle to go closer
:48:58. > :49:04.to that read, which then he had a great chance to clear. Because he
:49:05. > :49:12.didn't get on it, it just to serve his concentration a little bit.
:49:13. > :49:19.Shame, that, because that black deserve to be in the frame.
:49:20. > :49:23.Absolutely. If he was a right-handed player, the green would not be too
:49:24. > :49:28.bad but he is left-handed. So betting on the green and then
:49:29. > :49:31.getting back to the brown, it is going to be very difficult so this
:49:32. > :49:41.is not necessarily going to be frame and match over.
:49:42. > :49:52.Not the best shot he has ever played.
:49:53. > :50:01.When you glance down to the green, then, because always looking to see
:50:02. > :50:04.if he can cannon that green out of the cushion and leave himself the
:50:05. > :50:20.chance to clear. He can hold. I thought that was a
:50:21. > :50:27.thin cut. I thought he couldn't for the yellow. Has he got the angle
:50:28. > :50:35.here to screw back of the yellow and get at least close to the green for
:50:36. > :50:42.a pot? The trouble with the pot is it is a narrow pocket to play
:50:43. > :50:46.through. And with pace it is an even tougher shot. He would have to put a
:50:47. > :50:53.little back spin on to get a cut for the brown. He can get somewhere near
:50:54. > :51:39.the middle pocket, though. Amazing, lined up like soldiers,
:51:40. > :51:45.aren't they? And this is quite tough to hit. The middle pocket is quite
:51:46. > :51:46.difficult. He doesn't get this right there is room in the back of this
:51:47. > :52:02.green. That was the problem with only
:52:03. > :52:08.hitting one cushion. Very hard to get away with it but he may just
:52:09. > :52:10.about. This is cut the ball but the white would be running loose. --
:52:11. > :52:46.able to be cut. Neil keeps looking at the
:52:47. > :52:48.scoreboard. Perhaps he does not believe the score. He is two behind.
:52:49. > :53:01.Not frames, points. This is the type of shot that
:53:02. > :53:10.somebody with a lot of power in the cue action may take on. The only way
:53:11. > :53:13.to do that is if he does not have a good safety on then he does have
:53:14. > :53:19.options with the safety. Just has to watch the double-kiss. Hit the green
:53:20. > :53:24.and take it up towards the baulk area and hope to snooker Neil
:53:25. > :53:59.Robertson. Very brave. He took it on. It was a very
:54:00. > :54:05.positive shot selection, I must say, but I'm glad he hasn't left the
:54:06. > :54:10.green on off the bat, because should he turn those balls down, then, and
:54:11. > :54:16.not be so positive, you never know where the green is going to go if
:54:17. > :54:17.you don't get in the pocket. So could be snookered again here, Lee
:54:18. > :54:45.Walker. Slightly misjudged this, especially
:54:46. > :54:51.if the green bounces. That is a bad misjudgement. If he plays the green
:54:52. > :54:58.plain ball he would be canning into the black and the black anything.
:54:59. > :55:05.Fifita right-hand side, then the middle pocket comes into the
:55:06. > :55:08.equation. This is one of those who would love to play with Czech side
:55:09. > :55:15.but it is a bit too thick to play with that. This is dangerous, keep
:55:16. > :56:05.an eye on the wide. Could be going very close -- an eye on the white.
:56:06. > :56:19.Won that is more like the safety shot we know. Neil holding his hand
:56:20. > :56:27.up as if he did not appear to do it. Colter and went across the green. I
:56:28. > :56:33.did not notice that. -- caught the knuckle. This is not easy. Yes, got
:56:34. > :57:06.to come the side. Plated with a lot of pace. -- played
:57:07. > :57:29.it with a lot of pace. He will be pleased with that.
:57:30. > :57:42.This is a very fine pot. With the white being pretty close to the
:57:43. > :57:45.baulk cushion. I'm not sure whether playing it plain ball he can played
:57:46. > :57:48.slow down the ground. It might have to come in and out of the baulk, and
:57:49. > :57:56.back again. Didn't even attempt the pot, did not
:57:57. > :58:15.fancy it. He has taken on more difficult shots
:58:16. > :58:31.in that match. Neil Robertson very strong in this
:58:32. > :58:41.the apartment, normally. Not quite up to the Silver standard as yet.
:58:42. > :58:47.But he is the best, I feel, Selby. Getting out of snookers. That is why
:58:48. > :59:06.he is world number one. Mark Selby is ?405,000 in front of
:59:07. > :59:10.the number two. That is what you call dominance. These days, of
:59:11. > :59:18.course, you don't get ranking points, it goes with the money they
:59:19. > :59:30.earn, same as the golf. It would be courtesy Mark Selby has earned a
:59:31. > :59:35.lot. Excellent pot. Blue the pink is busily going to be a problem, but
:59:36. > :59:39.with him being left-handed, the blue is slightly easier for him than it
:59:40. > :59:43.would be a right-handed player. He needs to finish absolutely tight on
:59:44. > :59:49.the cushion, preferably within two feet of the blue. Playing it plain
:59:50. > :59:53.ball, he will come about four or five inches past the middle pocket,
:59:54. > :00:08.a little bit of right-hand side could get him close to the blue. How
:00:09. > :00:12.is his pace? Not great. I don't think it bounced up as much as you
:00:13. > :00:31.think it did, Neil, think you just over it.
:00:32. > :00:41.A few safety options here for him. Doesn't have to win the match in
:00:42. > :01:05.this visit... The most important part of the shot
:01:06. > :01:09.was getting that blue ball safe. A little closer to the cushion, Lee
:01:10. > :01:13.would not be able to play this, playing on the blue left-hand side,
:01:14. > :01:17.leave the white weather blue is and sent the black, sorry, the blue up
:01:18. > :01:24.behind the pink and the black. One of those, if you get too much side,
:01:25. > :01:28.it's not what you want, but you should be able to get behind the
:01:29. > :01:31.blue here. Not playing the bottom left-hand side, which is what I
:01:32. > :01:40.thought he would do. He is not playing that shot. That is not too
:01:41. > :02:06.bad... CLAPPING Could get in with the black, this
:02:07. > :02:12.would be a thin cut, more or less guaranteeing a good safety shot, but
:02:13. > :02:22.he's cut it a little thin. This could be a pot if you get past
:02:23. > :02:26.the black... It's quite funny, he was offering Roberts in the pot, if
:02:27. > :02:30.he misses this frame, it is match over. Neil Robertson had a look to
:02:31. > :02:35.see if the blue was cuttable, and it is, but it goes without saying, if
:02:36. > :02:40.he misses, that could be the end of the match. When you look from the
:02:41. > :02:50.second angle, you can see how thin it is.
:02:51. > :02:57.Having a look at the potting angle, he is lining it up, taking it on.
:02:58. > :03:19.CLAPPING We know how difficult those kinds of
:03:20. > :03:24.shots can be, in this situation, it is one of the world's best players
:03:25. > :03:28.hanging on in there. Missing that and he probably would have been out
:03:29. > :03:31.of the tournament. Yes, and once he has taken it on, he would consider
:03:32. > :03:35.himself a little unfortunate that the White has travelled an extra pot
:03:36. > :03:39.in pace, not leaving him with an easy chance for the pink. You would
:03:40. > :03:44.think that he has some sort of pot on the pink in the middle. I do not
:03:45. > :03:48.think there are only for answers in taking this pink on, a good safety
:03:49. > :03:51.shot is the core here, he needs a good pink and black. -- is the call
:03:52. > :04:04.here. If he takes on the pot, the White
:04:05. > :04:13.will be virtually in the jaws of the pocket where his hand is. A
:04:14. > :04:16.containing safety shot, this looks to be a very good one... Another
:04:17. > :05:07.half inch would have been perfect. He is eyeing up the potting angle,
:05:08. > :05:13.with 1-0, he gets a shot on the back, it should go in... Very good.
:05:14. > :05:20.He has got that shot on the black, as long as that does not travel...
:05:21. > :05:22.He played the shot to nothing to perfection. But unfortunately he is
:05:23. > :05:38.now faced with a difficult black. I think on reflection how meal has
:05:39. > :05:44.played in this frame, he deserves to win it. -- Hal Neil Robertson. What
:05:45. > :05:50.would you put with this, four out of ten?
:05:51. > :06:01.I would say one out of ten. That is a tough shot.
:06:02. > :06:12.Ooh! How close was that? With Walker's reaction there, you would
:06:13. > :06:18.have thought it was in. One of the best long potters in the game, is he
:06:19. > :06:26.fancying this one? What a tremendous effort, it really was. He has a wry
:06:27. > :06:28.smile on his face as he sits in the chair, knowing that Neil is going to
:06:29. > :07:00.have to take it on. A little easier, this shot, for
:07:01. > :07:10.Walker than the previous, going into an open pocket. The cue ball out
:07:11. > :07:16.three or four inches, perhaps. A little more of the cushion. -- off
:07:17. > :07:30.the cushion. Now, he has a good white, has he got
:07:31. > :07:35.a good black? Has he got a good black? He has! It's amazing, with a
:07:36. > :07:41.bit of luck, Lee Walker has got all of the like there. A sly smile into
:07:42. > :07:52.the commentary box, keep inches A-frame. He still trails 3-2.
:07:53. > :07:55.-- he pinches the frame. He has a wry smile to the camera, fine
:07:56. > :08:02.margins but such composure under pressure to keep in the game. We go
:08:03. > :08:08.over to frame six shortly but let's bring you date with what is
:08:09. > :08:13.happening on table two, because we could have a big story developing
:08:14. > :08:21.here... I will welsh wild card, the teenager Jackson Page, who,
:08:22. > :08:24.remember, made his debut in a major tournament, beating Weston on
:08:25. > :08:30.Monday, up against John Astley in his second round this afternoon.
:08:31. > :08:40.This is the end to frame for, and as you can see, Page at the age of only
:08:41. > :08:50.15 is going to go 3-1 up. Placed in the last 32, Astley has taken frame
:08:51. > :08:53.five, what a story developing there. Of all of the players that we
:08:54. > :08:56.thought might make around three here in the Welsh Open, he would have
:08:57. > :09:03.been bottom of the list but he could be there? Definitely, the ball is in
:09:04. > :09:08.his court, 3-1 up, he just needs one more frame, you must feel confident
:09:09. > :09:11.about things. I hope he thinks is way through and does not get
:09:12. > :09:18.negative and close shots, so to speak. He needs to play the same way
:09:19. > :09:24.to get in position and close out the match. 3-2 to Page in that game and
:09:25. > :09:29.3-2 to Robertson in this fascinating contest. Under pressure, knowing he
:09:30. > :09:33.was just one bad shot away from leaving the tournament, Lee Walker,
:09:34. > :09:36.what a performance at the end of that frame? Yes committee stuck in
:09:37. > :09:40.the frame and knows what he can do best, grinding it out, playing a
:09:41. > :09:46.good safety and fixing on his own performance. Let meal worry about
:09:47. > :09:54.his, he has played tremendous care in this match, missing one or two --
:09:55. > :09:58.new He's not had the results he wanted. He is capable of his a game,
:09:59. > :10:05.but this is a sticky situation for both players at 3-2. Lee Walker has
:10:06. > :10:10.so much belief and confidence going into frame six, but it is a big one.
:10:11. > :10:17.How is Robertson going to respond, it is 3-2 now. Here is Lee...
:10:18. > :10:23.COMMENTATOR: A penny for Neil Robertson's thoughts. He will
:10:24. > :10:34.definitely be feeling that he should have won the match by now. He has
:10:35. > :10:55.missed a fuel on pots. -- he has missed a few long that pots.
:10:56. > :11:03.A typical safety there, having to avoid the red, it seemed so big,
:11:04. > :11:12.maybe he needs to go inside or outside of it. There is a chance
:11:13. > :11:16.here... And it is amazing that they did the same thing in frame two.
:11:17. > :11:18.Breaking up and playing the safety shot like that, hitting a red and
:11:19. > :11:41.Robertson made it 3-3. We have had a few centuries and some
:11:42. > :11:57.long frames, 38 minutes was the last one. It is great to watch.
:11:58. > :12:04.Steve Davis once said that people watching at home or in the audience
:12:05. > :12:14.prefer a close frame rather than a lot of big
:12:15. > :12:26.breaks. I think that it is nice to have a balance. We have certainly
:12:27. > :12:31.had that so far today. What a horrible kick, my goodness. Squaring
:12:32. > :12:43.it completely. It went straight to the red. I was
:12:44. > :12:50.about Sobeys reds are perfect, with the pink out of commission, there's
:12:51. > :12:55.a possible 147. -- I was about to say that the reds were perfect. Lee
:12:56. > :12:57.now knows that whatever he scores he will be hurting Robertson with every
:12:58. > :13:20.ball that he pots. I mentioned earlier in the match
:13:21. > :13:27.that Lee Walker does not go away. Hanging on, as a good fighter. He
:13:28. > :13:29.does not have the same skills as Neill, but does not mean that you
:13:30. > :14:39.cannot beat him. Needs to keep that under close
:14:40. > :14:53.control now and take the pressure off him. Should be feeling good. He
:14:54. > :14:54.had a bit of fortune with that in the previous frame. He may be
:14:55. > :16:54.thinking, this could be my day... Meanwhile, runner-up in the world on
:16:55. > :16:59.this championship, 2011. No bad players in the final of that
:17:00. > :17:04.tournament. Especially with how the game has gone around the world. A
:17:05. > :17:20.huge amount of countries entering the World Championships. In the
:17:21. > :17:26.1960s he would have 8-10 players, now I'm not sure of the numbers. --
:17:27. > :17:44.you would have 8-10 players. Those are bread and butter shots.
:17:45. > :17:53.Yes, I think he got excited there. Now, the frame should be level at
:17:54. > :17:59.3-3. At times, it is best to screw those in, those two cushions, rather
:18:00. > :18:10.than float them in. Missing quite a lot of pots in those last few
:18:11. > :18:20.friends. That was excellent from Neil. Yes, there is not much talk of
:18:21. > :18:26.a recovery time in snooker. The big players, like Robertson there,
:18:27. > :18:34.potting the red, I did not fancy him putting it, but in the first frame,
:18:35. > :18:40.he missed a lot of pot that he would normally get. At this stage, I would
:18:41. > :18:53.not bet against him winning from this position. I think they need to
:18:54. > :19:05.sack the juggler behind the stage, there was a huge crash but luckily,
:19:06. > :19:10.no player was on their shot. This one on the extreme right hand side
:19:11. > :19:22.of the pack. That would be frame and match over if he gets the cannon
:19:23. > :19:30.Wright. -- gets the cannon right. Not perfect. Kissing a half ball. A
:19:31. > :20:25.nice choice of reds and another one in the middle.
:20:26. > :20:33.He might have got too much on this, has he? Very good. Could have done
:20:34. > :20:36.with another couple of inches of pace, to roll it in off the black
:20:37. > :20:42.committee may have to go back around with this. -- he may have to go
:20:43. > :20:46.back. It's a chance for him to win the frame and the match, he would
:20:47. > :20:52.have been distraught, sitting in his chair. Had the black hit against him
:20:53. > :20:57.to make it 3-2, a massive kick. A break of 38, coming to an end. Then,
:20:58. > :21:13.springing into action with a long pot. That pink spot might not make a
:21:14. > :21:16.lot of difference. Does not fancy that rolling around
:21:17. > :21:30.the back of the black, it is looking perfect. A little fortunate to have
:21:31. > :21:32.that in the top corner. Unlike Neil to choose the safest way of
:21:33. > :22:02.break-building, that is very risky. Could be a frame and match win,
:22:03. > :22:10.that. A little fortunate to get on the pink. A little better there. He
:22:11. > :23:00.seems to have a lot more than the Walker. -- than Lee Walker.
:23:01. > :23:14.A little tense out there. So close to winning the match, Neil
:23:15. > :23:19.Robertson. He's in prime position. Needing to be a little straighter on
:23:20. > :23:25.this pink. Easy enough to get close to the red, with the cue ball. Let's
:23:26. > :23:28.see where he is now... With the distance between him. It is
:23:29. > :23:50.certainly manageable. Did not quite get the desired pace
:23:51. > :23:56.there, leaving it pretty straight. As we know, he is blessed with an
:23:57. > :24:05.amazing amount of two power. If you stop six dead, he will leave the
:24:06. > :24:13.last red in play -- an amazing amount of cue power, if he stops it
:24:14. > :24:18.dead, he would leave the last red in a play. A little lower, I do not
:24:19. > :24:23.know if he can get contact on the red here, but he is left-handed, as
:24:24. > :24:26.we know. This is to roll it in and leave it on the question. -- leave
:24:27. > :24:54.it on the cushion. On the red, having to pot the black.
:24:55. > :25:03.Not the easiest of shots, dropping a dead weight of the side cushion.
:25:04. > :25:51.Some life left in this, the frame and the match.
:25:52. > :25:59.Nicely played, excellent length. On the last red, having to look down,
:26:00. > :26:19.if there is thin edged down the yellow. He will
:26:20. > :26:27.have two play-off the baulk cushion. Trying to swerve... I think with
:26:28. > :26:34.this shot off the back cushion, he would play a slow and knock the red
:26:35. > :26:35.on the cushion. Then it would go into the corner pocket anyway. You
:26:36. > :27:05.cannot leave it on. Needs to go... Not quite. Once
:27:06. > :27:07.again, this cut is so thin, controlling the cue ball is going to
:27:08. > :27:28.be difficult. Looking at the scoreboard, you can
:27:29. > :27:33.see that he is 19 points in front. You cannot just drop the black in,
:27:34. > :27:38.because of the yellow. As the balls are set, the black goes back on the
:27:39. > :27:53.spot, of course. snookered himself with the blue, I
:27:54. > :27:56.cannot believe it. He does not seem to judge the speed of the cushions,
:27:57. > :28:03.they appear to bounce a little to me. It makes yellow ones. Can he get
:28:04. > :28:17.through? Perhaps just about... Hitting the yellow thin, but not
:28:18. > :28:32.enough to potted. A kiss on the brown here. He has kissed the brown.
:28:33. > :28:43.He had too much swerve, catching it too thick. Playing it with a lot of
:28:44. > :28:44.left-hand side. May need to bring the cue ball down the left-hand side
:28:45. > :29:06.of the table. Now, Lee Walker has got that chance.
:29:07. > :29:11.You have to play safety here. I think that he is within an inch of
:29:12. > :29:38.losing this match, 26 points behind, 3-2 down, it is first to four.
:29:39. > :30:01.There is always the nudge. That's what John Berger says, doesn't he?
:30:02. > :30:10.There is a way is a gap. -- what John Virgo says.
:30:11. > :30:39.He is an inch away, if he gets a chance from drawing level. Not much
:30:40. > :30:49.angle here, I don't think. Not quite sure if he can strike down on the
:30:50. > :30:56.cue ball to widen the angle. Either way, it is a tough one. He would
:30:57. > :31:04.like to play it twice across that the brown is there. Of course if he
:31:05. > :31:08.plays it slow dead weight, it makes the yellow more difficult. He will
:31:09. > :31:12.have to risk playing twice across and even if he kisses the brown at
:31:13. > :31:30.least he will have some sort of shot on the green.
:31:31. > :31:44.Not quite. This is a chance. A chance to level at 3-3. If the cream
:31:45. > :32:32.goes in is clear favourite to clear. It was worth the wait. Just gone
:32:33. > :32:41.that extra half a run of the cue ball. That green was a thin cut in
:32:42. > :32:49.the corner pocket. Again, it is so difficult to control the cue ball.
:32:50. > :32:51.Could be another turning point here. There have been quite a few in this
:32:52. > :33:21.match. Very enjoyable to watch. How is he going to get this through?
:33:22. > :33:25.That was as good as the could have got and he may have even snookered
:33:26. > :33:43.Neil. What a strange game. Niall's bending down to look at the
:33:44. > :34:01.line, I didn't think he could pot this anyway. Oops. Oh. Well, well,
:34:02. > :34:06.well. The brown should have been at least a foot down from that centre
:34:07. > :34:12.pocket, the right side, and down the home and black. -- down behind pink
:34:13. > :34:39.and black. The pressure is on. Cool as a cucumber, dropped it in
:34:40. > :34:51.dead weight, perfect on the blue. Looks like it is going into a
:34:52. > :35:30.decider. He is on the black. He is taking his
:35:31. > :35:40.time. He is going to be a little bit nervous.
:35:41. > :35:43.Straight in the middle of the pocket. APPLAUSE
:35:44. > :35:56.Well done, sir. He is back level. He was 3-1 behind.
:35:57. > :36:03.He's back now, and it's all on the deciding frame. STUDIO: It certainly
:36:04. > :36:07.is, there is a man determined not to lie down, another great frame from
:36:08. > :36:11.Lee Walker. We will get back to that one for the decider in just a few
:36:12. > :36:18.moments but we will go back to table two to update you on our Welsh wild
:36:19. > :36:24.card, Jackson Page. Having lost John Astley -- having led John Astley
:36:25. > :36:28.3-1, Astley Buddha back to 3-2, and then determined not to go out to a
:36:29. > :36:35.15-year-old, it was 3-3, they went into a deciding frame, and can you
:36:36. > :36:38.believe what happened? Page, the biggest thing he has done in
:36:39. > :36:42.snooker, the world under 18 champion is through to the last 32 of us in
:36:43. > :36:49.yet tournament. Well done to Jackson Page. Fantastic for him. But IS
:36:50. > :36:54.update you with a few other resorts around the arena. Graeme Dott is
:36:55. > :36:58.through and will play the winner of this match between Walker and
:36:59. > :37:03.Robertson. Marco Fu, the world number one, a bit of a shock to him
:37:04. > :37:07.losing the Ross Smith 4-0. Anthony Hamilton who got his first ranking
:37:08. > :37:10.title in Germany at the age of 45 also through, and Sam Beard, who
:37:11. > :37:27.knocked out John Lee Walker, another terrific frame.
:37:28. > :37:31.Brilliant green with the extension on his cue. Just got to roll it into
:37:32. > :37:35.the brown. But too much pace on it and that cue ball rolls in behind
:37:36. > :37:38.the black and he has a really tough escape. The brown is sort of in the
:37:39. > :37:42.middle of nowhere. If he doesn't hit it you need to slip him, so probably
:37:43. > :37:48.out of the match and it is all over, but he hit the brown, Neil made that
:37:49. > :37:53.mistake, leaving that opportunity, and he took it with both hands. 3-3.
:37:54. > :37:58.Poor Neil must be thinking what have I got to do to win this match? Just
:37:59. > :38:02.can't get that final ball that he needs every time. I suppose you
:38:03. > :38:06.could say that Lee Walker could be favoured now because he has just won
:38:07. > :38:11.two frames from Neil and he goes on to this the side of confidence.
:38:12. > :38:14.There is the little handshake with Neil Robertson. He knows he has one
:38:15. > :38:18.frame away from causing a major upset here. Let's go back for the
:38:19. > :38:22.decider with Billy and Terry. COMMENTATOR:
:38:23. > :38:40.OK, a little bit of good running in the last couple of friends but he
:38:41. > :38:41.has the deep. A chance to beat one of the world for the best players,
:38:42. > :39:53.it would be a feather in his cap. Can he hold themselves together? OK,
:39:54. > :40:01.not necessarily going to score enough points on this visit but if
:40:02. > :40:02.you get 30 or 40 point in front, where the reds are situated, could
:40:03. > :40:47.be more than 30. He has got the momentum now. Two
:40:48. > :40:51.black winds. Must have felt when he was in the chair and the last few
:40:52. > :40:54.friends that he was very close to losing this match and going out of
:40:55. > :41:04.the tournament. Now he has got another chance. When they talk about
:41:05. > :41:16.small margins in sport, this is it really. The crowd enjoyed the
:41:17. > :41:17.deciding frames, it makes a little bit more exciting. I'm not saying
:41:18. > :41:41.the first frame wasn't. As it turned out, he's quite a long
:41:42. > :41:49.way short of the blue. Because of that can go in and out of baulk and
:41:50. > :41:56.going into the right corner. He has to miss the baulk colours. That was
:41:57. > :42:21.row well played. Victory over one of the best players
:42:22. > :42:25.in the world is in his sights at the moment. A long way to go. But he is
:42:26. > :42:46.looking good. It has been quite amazing, this
:42:47. > :42:49.match will stop Neil Robertson sitting there thinking, I scored 300
:42:50. > :42:54.odd points without reply at one time in this match. By far and away the
:42:55. > :42:55.biggest breaks in the match were stuck there is every chance he could
:42:56. > :43:46.be going out. He knows this is an excellent
:43:47. > :43:53.chance. If not a frame-winning break. A lot of players here would
:43:54. > :44:00.go past the first red and go into the bunch. I am sure Turn two will
:44:01. > :44:01.not be thinking of that at this time. He just wants to get 20 or 30
:44:02. > :44:13.points in front. He is the old school type of
:44:14. > :44:41.position player. It does look a little bit tougher
:44:42. > :44:48.now, and there is one loose red there. Not sure if it goes past the
:44:49. > :45:00.pink. Otherwise you're going to have to run around a few questions.
:45:01. > :45:06.Looking now to play that red from the right of the pack into the top
:45:07. > :45:14.corner. Can't see where he can't get on it from the two cushions really.
:45:15. > :46:12.This for his highest break of the match so far. What a time to get it.
:46:13. > :46:30.The black to follow. Perfect angle. Watch the two in the left.
:46:31. > :46:48.Wasn't his best ever. Just below the pink I think is available. Got to be
:46:49. > :46:52.honest, this is a perfect chance for him to win this match. The only
:46:53. > :46:58.thing that may stop him is the pressure he will be under two clear
:46:59. > :47:05.from here. At least get a winning position. Yes, he doesn't have to
:47:06. > :47:10.play the cannon into the three reds come can just screw past. It has
:47:11. > :47:20.been Neil Robertson sitting in his chair and just not believing how
:47:21. > :47:22.this match is still going. Only four reds and four colours away from
:47:23. > :47:53.being out of this match. His heart was in his mouth for a few
:47:54. > :47:57.seconds. You are never quite sure when you are plain that type of
:47:58. > :47:59.shot, a lot of back spin into a cannon into a red what angle it will
:48:00. > :48:27.come off. He just flicked that red, he didn't
:48:28. > :48:30.want to fit it. If he hit it any thicker it might have known on the
:48:31. > :48:38.bottom cushion without any thing the M4.
:48:39. > :48:44.A few shots away from victory still. Didn't look as though there were a
:48:45. > :49:14.lot of problems there for him. He would love to get the white, but
:49:15. > :49:21.the angle he has on the black is not great. This is the key shot. If he
:49:22. > :49:46.gets this right he has won. White nowhere near where he played
:49:47. > :50:22.but he has had a result. It is very tight, that red. He has
:50:23. > :50:28.two other reds he could take on, more difficult, but you could see
:50:29. > :50:40.that he could get it to the left-hand side of the pocket as we
:50:41. > :50:48.see it. Big decision. So much to play for here. It would be a
:50:49. > :50:56.tremendous victory. 3-1 down against Neil Robertson, having to sit out a
:50:57. > :51:00.number of times without reply from Lee Walker. Neil Robertson looked
:51:01. > :51:17.unbeatable. 143 1155. Decided not to play the red that
:51:18. > :51:19.definitely pots in the bottom corner, he knows that red colour
:51:20. > :51:32.macro in goes the red. He may have to play
:51:33. > :51:36.a little stunned down into the pink or red here. Doesn't matter which
:51:37. > :51:46.one he hits, the think of the red, behind it. -- the pink or the red
:51:47. > :51:51.behind it. Massive target, so the pink or red kiss is impossible not
:51:52. > :52:07.to get, just a case of whether he pots the blue. --
:52:08. > :52:14.APPLAUSE Very well played, very well played.
:52:15. > :52:31.That was frame ball. Match ball, of course. If ever a man looks amused,
:52:32. > :52:35.you are looking at him. Scored the best part of 300 points more than
:52:36. > :52:50.his opponent but it is not on aggregate, it is on friends.
:52:51. > :53:01.He will have to touch of left-hand side on the cue ball to pot the one
:53:02. > :53:09.to the extreme left of the two. Just throw it into the pocket, just moves
:53:10. > :53:13.the red of the natural line. This pot would be easy enough if the
:53:14. > :53:20.other reds was not impeding his cueing. I think he has changed his
:53:21. > :53:44.mind and he is going for the top corner. APPLAUSE
:53:45. > :53:50.One of the loudest applause as we have heard this week. Very popular
:53:51. > :54:08.young man, Lee Walker. How good is he feeling at this
:54:09. > :54:12.moment? That is five or six shots he has or must been in perfect
:54:13. > :54:14.position, but not quite, you know? But no problems now he is 74 in
:54:15. > :54:38.front, 59 left. It would be one of the best wins of
:54:39. > :54:42.his career. He has beaten a lot of the top players, but in his home
:54:43. > :55:08.country it will mean a lot more to him of course.
:55:09. > :55:18.Didn't get on the black but didn't make any difference. He is potting
:55:19. > :55:22.them anyway. APPLAUSE Wonderful performance from a very
:55:23. > :55:24.gritty professional snooker player against one of the rest players in
:55:25. > :55:51.the world. I'm not sure who he plays in the
:55:52. > :55:53.next round, but, take it from me, they will not be looking forward to
:55:54. > :56:13.it. He won the two previous frames on
:56:14. > :56:24.the black, and what more can you do them in the last frame with a
:56:25. > :56:30.century? -- van win the last frame. A first century this match will stop
:56:31. > :56:35.has been very high quality. A couple of strange kicks and throws at
:56:36. > :57:23.different shots but all in all what an amazing victory for Lee Walker.
:57:24. > :57:33.130 if this goes on. Was there any doubt? Wonderful performance from
:57:34. > :57:38.Lee Walker, he beats Neil Robertson 4-3 to go forward in the next round
:57:39. > :57:43.of the Welsh Open. APPLAUSE STUDIO: And doesn't the Cardiff
:57:44. > :57:48.crowd just love that? Absolutely fantastic day for Lee Walker, as he
:57:49. > :57:51.makes his way out, and this chair here has got his name on it. He will
:57:52. > :57:56.be sat there very shortly giving us his reaction to probably the best
:57:57. > :58:00.performance of his career or certainly one of them. We have seen
:58:01. > :58:04.some shocks in the ship was not Welsh Open, John Higgins and Mark
:58:05. > :58:09.Williamson going out, a 15-year-old Welshman getting through to the last
:58:10. > :58:14.32, just a few minutes ago, Jackson Page, and now this, tremendous
:58:15. > :58:18.stuff. Fantastic performance from Lee. He saved his best to the final
:58:19. > :58:23.frame. If ever a player did not seem fated to win a match, it has to be
:58:24. > :58:29.there with Neil Robertson. The poor guy. He was one ball away. If ever
:58:30. > :58:32.you needed evidence of what you have got to do the stick in a match and
:58:33. > :58:36.just keep trying, keep doing what you can do, don't worry about what
:58:37. > :58:42.the other guys doing. Neil Robertson has played some fantastic snooker,
:58:43. > :58:47.two consecutive total clearances, Lee stuck in there and did what he
:58:48. > :58:50.did best and we got the result. Let's get the thoughts of Neil
:58:51. > :58:55.Robertson, backstage with Rob Walker. Judging by how well you are
:58:56. > :58:58.playing halfway through that match, it must be difficult to find
:58:59. > :59:03.yourself having this conversation with you having been knocked out?
:59:04. > :59:09.Yes, I carried on playing well but Lee hang in there and did really
:59:10. > :59:12.well. Dominic 's is in the studio so he can explain that the best that
:59:13. > :59:19.some of the bounces of the cushion, it was just incredible. On the
:59:20. > :59:23.brown, there is no way should be ever to hit the middle knuckle of
:59:24. > :59:27.that angle. I have a blacklist Clifford in with the rest, and then
:59:28. > :59:32.I have an incredible bounce which has half snookered me behind the
:59:33. > :59:38.blue. He had a kick on the red when I was plumbing on 16 at 3-2. I did
:59:39. > :59:41.make a couple of mistakes, but that is just a game of snooker.
:59:42. > :59:47.Unfortunately these sorts of things can happen. Really happy with the
:59:48. > :59:50.way I played, you know. Just at the minute these kind of matches are
:59:51. > :59:57.going against me a bit. There's not much I can do. He has flipped a
:59:58. > :00:05.black at 3-1. If it does not go in, it will be set up for me to go
:00:06. > :00:11.through, but that is just the way it is. I played really well in the
:00:12. > :00:15.match, just a little bit unfortunate that the wrong times. Thank you per
:00:16. > :00:20.talking to us, we will see you at the next one. Yes, the 2007 winner
:00:21. > :00:23.and last year's runner up out of the competition all thanks to this man
:00:24. > :00:28.here, many congratulations to Lee Walker. Great to have two Welshman
:00:29. > :00:31.who have made it through to round three. Dominic earlier and now you,
:00:32. > :00:36.give us an idea of how you are feeling? Beating one of the best in
:00:37. > :00:40.the world. It has been a long time coming that I don't really know how
:00:41. > :00:43.I won. He was cueing so well midway through the match, just tried to
:00:44. > :00:45.hang on in there and I was feeding off scraps really. Nice little flick
:00:46. > :01:02.on Oblak in one frame as well. The way that you did it, I'm sure
:01:03. > :01:06.that Dominic would agree, and pressure, when you were a couple of
:01:07. > :01:09.shots away from going out of the competition, he managed to retain
:01:10. > :01:16.your composure and belittled the back, turn it around? Yes, some days
:01:17. > :01:22.you missed them, other days you get them. I may be wrong but I think I
:01:23. > :01:29.won them all on the black, the first three frames. So, you know, it is
:01:30. > :01:35.just nice. I think that he had in one frame a kick and a couple of
:01:36. > :01:43.things started happening and you think, this could be my day today?
:01:44. > :01:49.To win it in one hit, in a decider like that, it's a nice feeling. When
:01:50. > :01:53.Neil has played this, missing the red, leaving a chance in the final
:01:54. > :01:56.frame, how nervous were you when you approached it? The way that the
:01:57. > :02:03.balls work if you potted the first red committee would have given
:02:04. > :02:09.yourself a great chance? -- you would have. I think as you get
:02:10. > :02:11.older, the nerves get more. They are not butterflies, they are
:02:12. > :02:17.blackbirds, Terry Griffiths once said. I was nervous, I did not want
:02:18. > :02:21.above myself down but if I took a bit longer, it was because I quite
:02:22. > :02:28.nervous towards the end. For me, where I am ranked at the moment, it
:02:29. > :02:32.is a big win for me. He is a great player. He is great to watch. I've
:02:33. > :02:40.known you for years, now he looks a more technical player than ever, the
:02:41. > :02:44.technique is so great, a straight, piston like dew action. How
:02:45. > :02:49.important was that in a battle that stood you in good stead? It helped
:02:50. > :02:53.me a lot, when you have clearance to win one frame, it if you do it
:02:54. > :02:57.again, it gives you more confidence -- cue. If you missed an easy chance
:02:58. > :03:01.and you get the next one, although it is always the same it looks
:03:02. > :03:08.harder. I've done it once, then again, to win another frame. I think
:03:09. > :03:13.that the brown I dropped in the middle, it was not a nice shot,
:03:14. > :03:18.really. Sometimes the technique pots the balls for you, and you think, to
:03:19. > :03:21.it, keep still on the shot, it takes up the pressure if you know you have
:03:22. > :03:26.good technique which can put them when you aren't feeling 100%
:03:27. > :03:29.confident. We are talking techniques with Dominic Handley, now we are
:03:30. > :03:33.looking at the nitty-gritty, where does that leave you in your career?
:03:34. > :03:41.I know that you had success ten years ago, beating players in the
:03:42. > :03:45.quarterfinals... 20 years ago! -- Dominic and Lee. The fact that it
:03:46. > :03:51.was 20 years ago, to do this now, what does it mean to you? You cannot
:03:52. > :03:56.get too carried away. It's only the best-of-7. In a best of 19 or
:03:57. > :04:03.something he will be strong favourite to win. You want to get as
:04:04. > :04:09.far as possible. You look at the draw, you maybe get to play meal in
:04:10. > :04:14.a second round and it is very tough. -- play Neil. It is tough for
:04:15. > :04:21.anyone, whoever you are. To beat him is great but I want to go further
:04:22. > :04:25.and go as far as you can. As Dominic said, when you have won, you want to
:04:26. > :04:39.build on it. Hopefully, I can build on it. Another great player, a world
:04:40. > :04:44.champion and once you get past, there's no easy match. When you get
:04:45. > :04:51.to the last 32 you know that you will be playing someone very good.
:04:52. > :04:57.Hopefully I can take that and carry on in that way. You managed to deal
:04:58. > :05:01.with Blackbirds in your stomach! Many congratulations, Lee, we will
:05:02. > :05:06.see in the next round. Jackson pages also through, 15 years old, that's
:05:07. > :05:12.fantastic. Well done to Lee Walker -- Jackson page is also true.
:05:13. > :05:22.A big day for Welsh snooker. Let's look at how Ryan Day got an
:05:23. > :05:33.-- got on earlier on. Let's join now, Un-Nooh 58 up, and Ryan Day on
:05:34. > :05:50.a break. COMMENTATOR: A very good double from
:05:51. > :06:04.Ryan Day there. Got into a perfect position. Obviously, Ryan will be
:06:05. > :06:19.full of confidence. A great run last week, the Grand Prix...
:06:20. > :06:26.20 points behind in the frame, a lot of work to do, those five reds just
:06:27. > :06:39.around the pink spot, nicely positioned, he does not have to do a
:06:40. > :06:48.lot with the cue ball. Before things start to get awkward, he should take
:06:49. > :07:21.the lead in this frame. Other than any mishaps, of course!
:07:22. > :07:31.Ryan continues a bit straighter on the black then he would have liked.
:07:32. > :07:42.A bit of an ankle that he can push two cushions. Just about perfect --
:07:43. > :07:54.a bit of an angle that he can push back of the two cushions.
:07:55. > :08:05.This is where it now begins to get a bit more awkward for Ryan Day. A
:08:06. > :08:08.couple of reds. Not in the open. Having to dislodge or play intricate
:08:09. > :08:30.positions. This is a good effort from Ryan,
:08:31. > :08:39.probably got overall of the fatigue that he was suffering from last
:08:40. > :08:42.week. A bit of a kick there. Which is really unfortunate. It means that
:08:43. > :08:48.he's got a lot more to do with the cue ball now than he should have
:08:49. > :08:55.had. You can just see the cue ball, with heavy contact. A loss of six
:08:56. > :08:59.inches of the cue ball, instead of the red being relatively easy to the
:09:00. > :09:05.left centre, now would becomes a bit more awkward. No problems. Slotted
:09:06. > :09:29.in. On the pocket. A very, very good player. Un-Nooh,
:09:30. > :09:36.I'm sure that he's going to win a lot of tournaments. Throughout his
:09:37. > :09:41.career. I remember watching him win the world amateur championship in
:09:42. > :09:53.2008. You could see what an unbelievable prospect that he was.
:09:54. > :10:03.Ryan is going to need a couple of awkward reds. At least one of them,
:10:04. > :10:11.anyway. He will have to take two out of the last three. I was about to
:10:12. > :10:18.say this one has gone to the right. As it happens, he has let it go left
:10:19. > :10:20.of the red Centre, even though it is thin. He played slightly past this
:10:21. > :10:45.one. A big shot this one. It looked like
:10:46. > :10:51.it was going to go in, didn't it? What makes it worse, the cue ball
:10:52. > :11:07.comes in and out of baulk. A nice, easy starter.
:11:08. > :11:23.Needs a good position now. Having to be able to play the red nearest to
:11:24. > :11:27.the question first, he has run through too far that one -- nearest
:11:28. > :11:35.to the cushion. This one is a kick as well. Instead of being on the
:11:36. > :11:37.right-hand side of the blue, took all of the pace out of the cue ball.
:11:38. > :11:51.On the wrong side. Welcome he took a risk then. Trying
:11:52. > :11:56.to get close to the red, and it has backfired -- well, he took a risk
:11:57. > :11:57.then. He could have left himself amid distanced red to the right-hand
:11:58. > :12:17.corner. A lot of player left in the frame --
:12:18. > :12:31.a lot of play. A really good shot. Very good indeed.
:12:32. > :12:44.Well... A miscalculation by Ryan, leaving the free ball. A disaster
:12:45. > :12:50.for Ryan Day. He has a free shot at this. If this goes in, everything is
:12:51. > :13:20.on. And that is there all the way. This will be a really devastating
:13:21. > :13:24.blow for Ryan Day. After Un-Nooh goes on to win the frame, for all
:13:25. > :13:30.intents and purposes, Ryan was going to level the match up at 2-2. You
:13:31. > :13:39.would have to say that now, Un-Nooh has gone favourite. He is still
:13:40. > :13:50.slightly behind in this frame. With all of the colours on the spots, it
:13:51. > :13:54.looks like Ryan is going to have three to play, and win all three, if
:13:55. > :14:10.he wants to extend his run in this Welsh Open.
:14:11. > :14:22.That one did not go in very cleanly, it just crept in and has slid past
:14:23. > :14:38.the brown. Blue and pink are needed... Like I said, it would be a
:14:39. > :14:41.very disappointed Ryan Day. He had the first chance in this frame,
:14:42. > :14:55.extending his lead, to 2-1. STUDIO: Day really struggling in
:14:56. > :14:57.this game, let's go over to frame five foot Un-Nooh at the table
:14:58. > :15:08.leading 52-34. -- table five.
:15:09. > :15:09.COMMENTATOR: The last frame was devastating for Ryan Day, in this he
:15:10. > :15:39.has had a couple of chances. He could get Un-Nooh in some
:15:40. > :15:51.trouble... That was a poorly played shot by Ryan Day, to his
:15:52. > :15:56.standards... That was not the best either, some nerves creeping in with
:15:57. > :16:01.both players. Obviously, Un-Nooh knows how important it is to put
:16:02. > :16:05.this match to bed. One thing that he would not want to do is let Ryan get
:16:06. > :16:21.back into the match. He has courted too thin. I think he
:16:22. > :16:30.could pass the black to the red in this corner -- he has got it. A
:16:31. > :16:41.little bit poor. Obviously there are some pressure there. He will need
:16:42. > :16:52.that awkward red on the right-hand cushion. What a shot he has played
:16:53. > :17:03.there. Played it with a lot of top, on the left-hand side. A brilliant
:17:04. > :17:06.shot. It's all about the pot. In goes the blue. Ominous signs now for
:17:07. > :17:26.Ryan Day. Think it is all over for Ryan...
:17:27. > :17:36.He's not really been with it in this match, we had a lot of unforced
:17:37. > :17:43.errors. He has had his chances. Just got to go back to the drawing board
:17:44. > :17:52.and get ready for the next one. Even though he misses a yellow, he has
:17:53. > :18:25.still done enough bar snooker is, Ryan Day, in this tournament. --
:18:26. > :18:50.Probably been a frustrating day for Ryan Day. That is it, all over. A
:18:51. > :19:04.handshake and a disappointed Ryan Day. Disappointed, but he moves on.
:19:05. > :19:10.A difficult game, he's a dangerous player but I just felt a bit flat
:19:11. > :19:14.and tired. I was trying to get some inspiration from somewhere but it
:19:15. > :19:21.did not happen this morning. I am happy with my performance and I
:19:22. > :19:30.think I'm a little lucky. He did not play well, he gave me a lot of
:19:31. > :19:39.options in that frame. Obviously, I had a good run last week it has been
:19:40. > :19:44.a hectic spell but I was hoping to get over the line really, keep
:19:45. > :19:51.fighting. But today I missed quite a lot of easy balls and I think it
:19:52. > :19:55.caught up with me in the end. A tiring week for Ryan Day who goes
:19:56. > :20:02.out of the competition, but let's remind you of the big story of the
:20:03. > :20:08.day. This is all about one of our Welsh wild cards, the fairy tale
:20:09. > :20:12.continues for Jackson Page, the 15-year-old playing in his
:20:13. > :20:17.first-ever senior tournament, he beat Jason Weston in round one on
:20:18. > :20:26.Monday, and now he's in the last 32 after beating John Astley 4-3 in his
:20:27. > :20:35.second-round match. Here he is. Congratulations. Another Welsh
:20:36. > :20:40.winner, tell about that? It's great, I settled after today, playing
:20:41. > :20:43.better than in the first round, a Kubrick 's together, I managed to
:20:44. > :20:49.get over the line. Dominic things you look more like 20 or 21! To play
:20:50. > :20:58.that sort of snooker shows maturity beyond your years? When I first come
:20:59. > :21:03.here, I knew that I could play well and get far, and obviously I can go
:21:04. > :21:09.further now and play well. But obviously people told me to take it
:21:10. > :21:16.and enjoy it and the experience really. In myself, I knew I could
:21:17. > :21:20.win a few games and keep it going. What has the whole experience been
:21:21. > :21:24.like, not just those wins but the whole week? Great, especially in my
:21:25. > :21:30.home country with a lot of support behind me. It's different to being
:21:31. > :21:39.abroad or in England, I would not have the support I have. I have the
:21:40. > :21:42.inspiration to play well and it has helped me a lot. The pressure that
:21:43. > :21:50.would have been on Jackson in that game, he went 3-1 up, Astley pulls
