:00:10. > :00:26.Very nice. Yes. Very nice. Somebody could treasure that. I am deeply
:00:27. > :00:33.honoured, actually, very privileged. Very delighted, and to see it on
:00:34. > :00:36.such a lovely trophy of Waterford Crystal and what have you. And the
:00:37. > :01:42.words on it are just enough. Love it.
:01:43. > :01:47.Snooker legend Ray Reardon here tonight to present one of those
:01:48. > :01:52.brave men with the Welsh open trophy. A warm welcome back to the
:01:53. > :01:55.final. Drama earlier on, as Stuart Bingham made a dream start before
:01:56. > :01:59.Judd Trump fought back. This is the story of the afternoon session. One
:02:00. > :02:04.of the longest-running events on the smoker calendar, it's the 25th
:02:05. > :02:07.anniversary of the Welsh open. And fittingly, there's a new trophy on
:02:08. > :02:13.offer for the winner of this best of 17 final. With eight frames played
:02:14. > :02:22.this afternoon, Judd Trump broke down on 44, missing an easy red,
:02:23. > :02:35.which opened the door for Stuart Bingham, who took the first frame
:02:36. > :02:38.with a break of 69. And it was deja vu in the second, as the fifth seed
:02:39. > :02:47.once again wasted a glorious opportunity. A break of 64 not
:02:48. > :02:55.enough, as the world number two responded with a break of 65,
:02:56. > :03:04.finishing up on the black. And 2-0 soon became three. Frame four, and
:03:05. > :03:14.once again Judd Trump had the opportunity, but this unlucky in-off
:03:15. > :03:18.cost him dear. Now playing with freedom, Bingham went into a 4-0
:03:19. > :03:23.lead at the interval for the third match in a row. But the break once
:03:24. > :03:32.again seemed to unsettle the 40-year-old, and Trump got his first
:03:33. > :03:35.frame on the board. Confidence renewed, two half-centuries in the
:03:36. > :03:42.next saw him reduce the arrears further. But a fine break of 87 in
:03:43. > :03:50.the next restored Stuart Bingham's three frame advantage. And he looked
:03:51. > :04:01.set to make it four. But a nervy final frame which lasted more than
:04:02. > :04:07.40 minutes saw Trump taking it, to escape just two frames behind from
:04:08. > :04:11.the afternoon. So, everything to play for here at the Motorpoint
:04:12. > :04:19.Arena. Will it be Trump or Bingham? It's time to get the show back under
:04:20. > :04:20.way. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the six time ranking event
:04:21. > :04:49.winner from Bristol, Judd Trump! And the 2015 champion of the world,
:04:50. > :05:35.Stuart Bingham! So, let's join our commentary team
:05:36. > :05:40.for the big finale to the 2017 Welsh Open - Willie Thorne and Terry
:05:41. > :05:51.Griffiths. TERRY GRIFFITHS: Thank you, Ian.
:05:52. > :06:04.Great expectations for tonight, we are thinking this is going to be a
:06:05. > :06:07.very special one. What do you think, Willie?
:06:08. > :06:11.WILLIE THORNE: I think it was so important for Judd Trump to win that
:06:12. > :06:23.final friend this afternoon. That made a big difference.
:06:24. > :06:33.He will be looking to win three out of the four to get all square at the
:06:34. > :06:41.interval. An early misjudgement there, Stuart Bingham court that
:06:42. > :06:48.much too thick. First shot of the night session! So, Trump has got a
:06:49. > :07:12.chance, black is available. What do you think the score is going
:07:13. > :07:21.to be, Willie? It is an odd one, but I think it will be 9-7 either way.
:07:22. > :07:32.Stuart is favourite, but I think it's going to be close. The kiss has
:07:33. > :07:40.left him on a red into the middle. He knows how important this first
:07:41. > :07:42.frame is. As we all know, the two first frame this afternoon, he
:07:43. > :07:54.should have won them both, and lost them both.
:07:55. > :08:04.Well, he's not shy of winning in one visit! Often smashes them into the
:08:05. > :08:09.pack, clears them up. Very popular player, please all the exhibition
:08:10. > :08:22.shots, as we talked about this afternoon, especially when he's
:08:23. > :08:28.safe. But when he's in this situation, he's very, very serious.
:08:29. > :08:37.That last stat just showed you how close this match has been. Potted
:08:38. > :08:53.122 balls, but the key step is the frames. -- the key stat.
:08:54. > :09:01.That little cluster of reds, they all appear to be in the way of one
:09:02. > :09:25.another. So he might have to go into them.
:09:26. > :09:35.He would like to hit the joint of the two reds. You see, when you hit
:09:36. > :09:57.one four Forks, nothing happens. This could be end of break. And once
:09:58. > :10:02.again, he's only on 40. As we have discussed many times, Terry, this
:10:03. > :10:14.week, I think he's been 40 in front seven times, and lost five of them.
:10:15. > :10:25.You just hit that black too hard, didn't he?
:10:26. > :10:36.I was with you, if he had gone into those two reds at half the pace, he
:10:37. > :10:45.would have been OK. Just look at the positive side for Judd - he can keep
:10:46. > :10:56.losing from 40-odd in front of! Stuart Bingham, of course, very good
:10:57. > :11:07.early on, two good clearances. Normally once he gets in there, he
:11:08. > :11:15.makes the most of them. You went through a spell when he was not so
:11:16. > :11:21.good, shall we say, be kind to him! Yes, there was a spell where it
:11:22. > :11:29.looked like Judd was going to win the three frames after the interval,
:11:30. > :11:40.but Stuart managed to pinch one. There is almost a gap.
:11:41. > :11:44.Well, if he swerves around that green and blue, it would be this
:11:45. > :11:58.worth of the century, I should think! -- it would be the swerves of
:11:59. > :12:09.the century! He has looked to be careful with that red.
:12:10. > :12:20.Obviously, taking quite a bit of time to decide what to play. Well,
:12:21. > :12:27.there is an absolute legend, six time champion of the world, Ray
:12:28. > :12:31.Reardon. Unbelievable player, great ambassador for our game. He's
:12:32. > :12:37.absolutely delighted to have had his name put on this trophy. You had a
:12:38. > :12:45.few battles with Ray Reardon over the years, Terry? And lost most of
:12:46. > :12:49.them, who didn't? He was my hero, used to be down our way, playing
:12:50. > :12:53.exhibitions. I used to love going to watch him play. Great entertainer as
:12:54. > :13:05.well, his trick shots were tremendous.
:13:06. > :13:12.So, Stuart finally decided to go for that double, he could not see a
:13:13. > :13:18.safety shot, you can't blame him for that.
:13:19. > :13:27.He hasn't got involved, really, yet in this frame. Judd has made all the
:13:28. > :14:06.running. Well-controlled. He doesn't seem to
:14:07. > :14:18.hit the cue ball that low, but he gets a lot of backspin on it. Very,
:14:19. > :14:23.very talented player from a very young age. Making century breaks
:14:24. > :14:29.when he was about eight or nine probably I should think. Playing in
:14:30. > :14:39.Bristol in those days - moved down to Romford now, where he practices
:14:40. > :14:43.with his manager. Not a great mixer amongst the players on the circuit,
:14:44. > :14:50.which I don't believe is a bad thing. Taking a tip from the legend
:14:51. > :15:06.that was Stephen Hendry, who was never a big mixer at all. Just
:15:07. > :15:14.another red needed. Steve Davis used to talk to everybody, when he was at
:15:15. > :15:23.his best! Exactly, he was exactly the same, wasn't he?! Not quite
:15:24. > :15:28.going right here for Judd. I don't know why he played for that cannon,
:15:29. > :15:39.Terry, he only needs one more red, why would he play a cannon. The one
:15:40. > :15:50.on the cushion would be the easier pot. But why is he playing that
:15:51. > :16:02.cannon? Doesn't fancy the one behind the pink, obviously. Just one red
:16:03. > :16:14.needed. And he rolled it in. Well, not quite. At that pace, chance of
:16:15. > :16:19.it going in, very slim. And look how close he came to kissing the red and
:16:20. > :16:24.pink. He could have left them not on again, so once again, he's
:16:25. > :16:34.vulnerable when in front, for some reason. Normally a great clincher of
:16:35. > :16:42.frames. This week he has had a bit of trouble. He can definitely see
:16:43. > :17:04.two of the reds on the left of the pink.
:17:05. > :17:12.I can't believe that, what is he doing? Well, Judd Trump fans must be
:17:13. > :17:34.horrified at the shots he goes for once he's got the frame won. Oh!
:17:35. > :17:47.He has to pot this, otherwise he needs a snooker.
:17:48. > :17:58.Doesn't concede, Stuart Bingham. Players generally let the other
:17:59. > :18:08.player decide if he wants to carry on. Bit shaky, needed a few chances,
:18:09. > :18:27.and Bingham did not get started, really. Long way to go yet.
:18:28. > :18:42.That red he took on, it was a typical Judd shot. I don't think it
:18:43. > :18:50.was the right shot, I certainly don't think Ray Reardon thinks it
:18:51. > :18:53.was the right shot! . That's what he plays and used to play in the early
:18:54. > :18:56.part of his career in the qualifiers and things. But once he gets going,
:18:57. > :19:34.he's frightening. How good is that?! Oh, that's a
:19:35. > :19:39.shame. I would have loved to see him clearing up. He'll be very happy,
:19:40. > :19:41.though. The first friend go to Judd Trump, and now he only trails by
:19:42. > :19:52.one. So, for the final time this year,
:19:53. > :19:55.welcome to our studio, once again with a resplendent Dominic Dale
:19:56. > :19:58.alongside me! Dominic, it was not a flawless start to the session for
:19:59. > :20:05.job trumps, but it was all about winning the frame? Yes. He'll be
:20:06. > :20:11.happy, I can assure you. He won that frame quite easily in the end. But
:20:12. > :20:16.why did he play the red down the top cushion at such great pace? Did he
:20:17. > :20:20.not fancy just rolling it in? I'm sure someone of Judd Trump's
:20:21. > :20:24.sporting ability would not have missed it. And then he went for a
:20:25. > :20:32.ridiculous long red to try to close the frame out. Stuart might have had
:20:33. > :20:41.a chance to steal the frame of he had not cannoned the red. We've got
:20:42. > :20:46.a great final on our hands now. We have? So over Judd Trump's shot
:20:47. > :20:51.selection earlier on. How would the players have been feeling during the
:20:52. > :20:57.three-hour break? Judd Trump just doing enough to keep his hopes alive
:20:58. > :21:01.in that session? I was quite impressed with him to come back a
:21:02. > :21:09.little bit at Stuart. He will have known that he had thrown a couple of
:21:10. > :21:15.those frames away. But he got within a couple of frames of him, and he'll
:21:16. > :21:18.be very happy being just two frames down going into tonight. Both of
:21:19. > :21:23.them would have been gearing up for a very big start tonight, especially
:21:24. > :21:29.Stuart Bingham, because he might have felt that he had the final won
:21:30. > :21:37.after going 4-0 ahead. But Judd came back at him. It was interesting.
:21:38. > :21:43.Just before we came on a, it was actually Bingham who was up here
:21:44. > :21:47.practising, not Judd - are you surprised? I did see him practising,
:21:48. > :21:52.though, not long before they went out. I would not have been surprised
:21:53. > :22:01.if he had been practising long pots, just to get that first chance. We
:22:02. > :22:06.have certainly got a game on our hands now in this final.
:22:07. > :22:17.WILLIE THORNE: Yes. I think that's the first time Stuart has looked a
:22:18. > :22:26.bit edgy. Judd trying to get back into the matched, and he's done that
:22:27. > :22:28.now. But we keep asking the question, can he keep getting away
:22:29. > :22:44.with when he's 50 or 60 in front? TERRY GRIFFITHS: That was a good
:22:45. > :23:29.pot, very clean. Thought he might have been
:23:30. > :23:39.unfortunate there, but he's OK as it turns out.
:23:40. > :23:46.Judd Trump plays very quickly, scores very quickly when he's on
:23:47. > :23:51.form, and that can be unsettling when you're sitting in the chair,
:23:52. > :23:57.wondering if you're ever going to win a ball again. He has been
:23:58. > :24:09.through this many times, I'm sure. An experienced players, who world
:24:10. > :24:14.amateur champion in 1996. One of the few players on the tour who has won
:24:15. > :24:53.the world amateur and the world professional championship.
:24:54. > :25:06.Just the one remaining loose red. Judd is very good at playing the
:25:07. > :25:10.forcing stun into the pack. He decided to play for the loose one
:25:11. > :25:16.this time, he didn't fancy going into them. I'm not sure he can get
:25:17. > :25:24.topside of the blue easily from this...
:25:25. > :25:46.There is a lot of power needed now, he may play two cushions.
:25:47. > :26:04.Like I say, it was not a great pack to go into. The movement he got on
:26:05. > :26:10.the cue ball then, tremendous. Great power, timing to get that topspin.
:26:11. > :26:42.He deserved better than that for that effort.
:26:43. > :26:59.He doesn't often turns these difficult shots down.
:27:00. > :27:12.Yes, it's hard to work Judd out. Because potted it, we say, great
:27:13. > :27:20.shot. It looks like he's decided to go all-out attack this evening.
:27:21. > :27:31.Needs to bounce... It's not easy to get to the next red from here.
:27:32. > :27:47.He was trying to pinch of it there. -- pinch a bit. Now, Stuart, you
:27:48. > :29:41.need to get a foothold in this session.
:29:42. > :30:30.Another 40-plus break from Judd Trump, and breaking down.
:30:31. > :30:38.He will probably play the cello or brown rather than the black, because
:30:39. > :30:43.you cannot guarantee you will get nicely on a red. The yellow would be
:30:44. > :30:48.the better choice, but it is a harder shot than the brown. It is
:30:49. > :30:57.whether he get the desired amount of screw back.
:30:58. > :31:00.That might be fine, because he may be able to nudge a couple of
:31:01. > :31:33.threads. A little bit higher than he wanted,
:31:34. > :31:42.but these three reds are available. He is nice on the next colour. You
:31:43. > :32:31.can see him clearing from here. And regaining the two frame lead.
:32:32. > :32:45.Has he gone higher? I thought for a minute he had underhit it, but he is
:32:46. > :32:51.OK. He does not want to take the pink.
:32:52. > :33:05.That might have tied one of the reds up. He is not cueing like you got
:33:06. > :33:12.this afternoon, he looks very edgy. Should he clear here, that will
:33:13. > :33:42.certainly calm the nerves. This would change the match.
:33:43. > :33:49.It is always easy to play for the blue here, it makes hitting up to
:33:50. > :33:56.the yellow simple, or even a walk colour. I do not blame him for that
:33:57. > :34:05.at all. If this was not in a major final, you would see him clearing
:34:06. > :34:06.here, --. I am not sure he has settled yet, but it should be
:34:07. > :34:36.straightforward. Judd Trump started with a break of
:34:37. > :34:40.48, broke down in the late 40s. He is getting in first nine out of
:34:41. > :35:09.every ten frames. It would be a delighted Stuart
:35:10. > :35:16.Bingham getting down to pop this. It looked for all money that he would
:35:17. > :35:18.get level, Judd Trump, which Stuart Bingham cleared the table with 63 to
:35:19. > :36:27.go to clear again. Stuart Bingham is now two thirds of
:36:28. > :36:35.the way towards winning the Welsh Open here in Cardiff. He has
:36:36. > :36:39.re-established a two frame lead. Dominic, we have talked a lot this
:36:40. > :36:44.week about Judd Trump breaking down on his breaks when he gets into the
:36:45. > :36:52.40s or the 60s, and it has happened again. Yes, 48 this time. Stuart has
:36:53. > :36:55.cleared up. Judd has a good lead here.
:36:56. > :37:02.He is playing it as a shock to nothing. I do not blame him, it is
:37:03. > :37:09.the right shot, the black is waiting over the corner pocket, but the cue
:37:10. > :37:14.ball has come off the baulk question, the red has wobbled in the
:37:15. > :37:20.pocket and come to -- between the yellow and brown. A bit unfortunate.
:37:21. > :37:25.Difficult for Judd Trump now. He might just start to think it is
:37:26. > :37:30.getting away from him now. Stuart Bingham might start to see the
:37:31. > :37:36.finish line. Far too early. He will not take anything for granted. If
:37:37. > :37:41.you are Stuart Bingham, you might think, Judd has to win five out of
:37:42. > :37:46.the next seven, but at the end of the day, Judd is only two friends
:37:47. > :37:47.behind, there are two frames before the mid-session interview, he can
:37:48. > :38:03.win both of them. A good break off. He will not be
:38:04. > :38:08.happy at being two frames behind, as he had opportunities to win the last
:38:09. > :38:18.frame, but it is not too bad. The first 29 wins the title this year --
:38:19. > :38:25.the first to 9. This is the fourth of the new Coral sponsorships,
:38:26. > :38:37.played in England and Manchester and Northern Ireland and Belfast and in
:38:38. > :38:41.Glasgow in Scotland. What a great idea, to have the four legends,
:38:42. > :38:51.Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins and Ray Reardon giving away
:38:52. > :38:57.the Welsh Trophy. A massive round of applause that Ray got. Virtually the
:38:58. > :39:16.whole crowd stood up and applauded. He carried the game for a number of
:39:17. > :39:23.years. In the 70s. 60s and 70s. Almost unbeatable in the World
:39:24. > :39:26.Championship. The likes of John Spencer, who is not with us any
:39:27. > :39:32.more, and Alex Higgins, who is not with us, Eddie Charlton. Quite a lot
:39:33. > :39:40.of good players. Not as many as today. It does not matter how many
:39:41. > :39:48.there is, if you want to win, you have to beat them all. This is not
:39:49. > :39:52.easy, as if he goes into the pack, he will leave a read on. He could do
:39:53. > :40:06.with common behind into the bunch, but he cannot get there.
:40:07. > :40:16.He could leave a read on, so this is a tricky situation.
:40:17. > :40:31.I can only presume he is playing to hit the loose red, but this is very
:40:32. > :40:36.dangerous. You are having a laugh! If he played that, congratulations.
:40:37. > :40:46.Unfortunately, he has left a shot to nothing on. Judd has spotted and lot
:40:47. > :41:31.of these so far. But not this time. A great escape from Stuart Bingham.
:41:32. > :41:37.It is not seem interested about any safety battles. That is the reason
:41:38. > :41:42.why, when you can part like that. Stuart Bingham was very short on
:41:43. > :42:21.that last safety, you have to get near the ball ocean.
:42:22. > :42:29.He has won red to the left of the black. He can stun it round three or
:42:30. > :42:51.four questions. He hit quite hard, I say. With
:42:52. > :43:26.accuracy. One of the few players that can
:43:27. > :43:31.generate that much spin when you have to come around the baulk and
:43:32. > :43:39.all the time. The case will come off the second red. He made sure of the
:43:40. > :44:12.fall ball contact. Where the White has finished, you
:44:13. > :44:16.can see he potted that very thick. If it was in the centre of the
:44:17. > :44:24.pocket, it would have been top side of the blue. Already he has gone in
:44:25. > :44:27.and out of red -- baulk on three occasions. He does not have the cue
:44:28. > :44:37.ball on a string at the moment. But what a judgment of pace, very
:44:38. > :45:21.good. The first time in four tries he has
:45:22. > :45:27.got the right side of the blue. There is a red that pots. Once
:45:28. > :45:35.again, he is in the nervous 40s. Can he make this one a frame when a?
:45:36. > :45:56.Horrible kick. I hope he can't hear you. You are
:45:57. > :46:00.putting him off! That was a bad one. The only good thing was he potted
:46:01. > :46:04.it, because it was an enormous kick. I can not believe that a macro did
:46:05. > :46:08.not change direction. Do you knock the blue in or play a good safety
:46:09. > :46:21.shot? You never know with him. It would not be a bad idea, knocking
:46:22. > :46:39.the black safe, but he cannot do that and get a good white.
:46:40. > :46:53.He made a good fist of it, though, the black is safe. This time, a
:46:54. > :46:58.perfect length of cue ball. Surely he cannot lose another frame after a
:46:59. > :47:03.40 odd break. We keep saying it. Since the quarterfinal he has lost
:47:04. > :47:11.eight while being between 40 and 50 up. It shows how dominant he has
:47:12. > :47:19.been early on in the frames. But surely now he will win this one. It
:47:20. > :47:22.is so hurtful when you lose from in front so many frames at important
:47:23. > :47:59.times in a final of a ranking event. This is the 25th anniversary of the
:48:00. > :48:00.Welsh Open this year. One of the longest standing events on the
:48:01. > :48:13.circuit. Some great times. It was in Newport
:48:14. > :48:14.for many years. Some great championships have been played
:48:15. > :48:34.there. Back in the capital now. It has been
:48:35. > :48:40.here now for quite a while. They need a big venue, with 128 players
:48:41. > :48:53.trying to get through. Just two left.
:48:54. > :48:59.The ripple of applause will tell Judd Trump that he is in the safety
:49:00. > :49:44.position in this frame. He will be pleased he got that one,
:49:45. > :49:46.Stuart Bingham sits in his chair. Judd Trump is out for a breath of
:49:47. > :50:54.fresh air. The pressure is on. The world number four try to win the
:50:55. > :51:01.Welsh Open for the first time. 6-5 now. Will this go all the way? It is
:51:02. > :51:06.a massive frame now before the interval. If Judd Trump could go in
:51:07. > :51:12.at 6-6, it would be all he could have asked for. It nearly got away
:51:13. > :51:19.from him again, a massive kick on a red, put him out of position. He
:51:20. > :51:27.wants to roll through a couple of reds. You can see them leave the bed
:51:28. > :51:31.of the table. He can do a long blue or a very thin black, but he has
:51:32. > :51:36.cleared his thoughts and used intelligence and played a good
:51:37. > :51:38.safety shot. He has put the black on the side cushion, and Stuart Bingham
:51:39. > :51:44.knows the black is out of commission. That can deflate you
:51:45. > :51:48.slightly. He has just done enough to force an error from Stuart Bingham,
:51:49. > :51:55.who left Judd Trump straight back in, so that is good from Joad. He
:51:56. > :52:02.made his thoughts clear, Judd Trump, on the initial mistake. Game on once
:52:03. > :52:06.again. Stuart Bingham knows he has to win
:52:07. > :52:13.this frame to keep the two frame advantage. That is what his mindset
:52:14. > :52:22.would have been, share the frames, do not lose a mini-session. Again,
:52:23. > :52:30.very short of the baulk cushion. Luckily for him, he has not left a
:52:31. > :52:40.shot to nothing. Has he spotted a three-ball plant? Those two reds are
:52:41. > :52:49.set, but I do not think he can get to it. Can he play the red onto
:52:50. > :52:55.those reds? If he catches it three quarters ball... Is this worth the
:52:56. > :52:57.risk? It will be a great shot if it goes in, but I am not sure it is
:52:58. > :53:21.worth the risk. He decided discretion was better.
:53:22. > :53:22.That is not his best shot by any stretch of the imagination, a very
:53:23. > :53:54.poor safety. A very delayed pause on that shot.
:53:55. > :53:55.He try to get into the cue ball. He did not hit it with his normal
:53:56. > :55:11.authority. This red pots. I wonder whether he will play an
:55:12. > :55:20.aggressive shop here, pot the red and the into the pink and black. The
:55:21. > :55:28.black will go behind the pink ball. I would risk going into the bunch at
:55:29. > :55:30.pace here. He just played for the loose one, though. He has not played
:55:31. > :55:42.it very well. If you play the black into the pack,
:55:43. > :55:48.he could have freed the pink spot. The black will still pot. But not
:55:49. > :55:51.from the angle he has got from the red. He will go up for blue or baulk
:55:52. > :56:27.colour. A great pot, but the yellow is not
:56:28. > :56:32.good. Look at that. The pace he put on that. Tremendous. How that
:56:33. > :56:40.greenest aid in the pocket, I don't know. Unfortunate to catch the
:56:41. > :56:48.brown, he was hoping to go straight into the pack. There is aggressive
:56:49. > :57:01.and there is aggressive! If this is a 4-ball plant, he is fortunate.
:57:02. > :58:24.No shot to nothing this time for Stuart.
:58:25. > :58:29.Having a look to come off two cushions and clipped the side of the
:58:30. > :58:45.tent macro. Well played. That could have gone
:58:46. > :59:45.wrong. You don't see that very often, a
:59:46. > :59:51.player just touching it like that. The referee, heated to them a
:59:52. > :59:56.warning this afternoon that they were doing this type of thing, and
:59:57. > :00:05.he said, I'll give you three more shots, and then it'll be a re-rack,
:00:06. > :00:07.which he's entitled to do. And of course the players themselves can
:00:08. > :00:23.ask for a re-rack. Somebody who is 20-odd points in
:00:24. > :00:30.front will not be asking for a re-rack. I think the man is in
:00:31. > :00:39.front, generally, if it comes to these awkward situations, tends to
:00:40. > :00:46.leave the safety shot shot on for his opponent. 26 in front, it's not
:00:47. > :00:47.a lot, really, by today's standards, with all this break building going
:00:48. > :01:15.on. I don't think Stuart has got into
:01:16. > :01:19.the game so far this evening. He looked brilliant this afternoon, and
:01:20. > :01:24.tonight he looks like he's trying not to lose, rather than trying to
:01:25. > :01:28.win it. He was free-flowing this afternoon, and looked very, very
:01:29. > :01:30.dangerous every time he got in. I'm not sure he's got the same mindset
:01:31. > :01:54.as if he could well get it back. Yes, it only takes a good pot, it's
:01:55. > :02:00.surprising how you can pick up again. Had a bit of a rough ride
:02:01. > :02:19.since 4-0. Stuart has got a long pot on here,
:02:20. > :02:35.it's a kind of shot he would normally take on. He has got to be a
:02:36. > :02:39.bit more positive, as Willie said. But it's easy when you're in the
:02:40. > :02:45.commentary box, I suppose. He hit that one nice. Fabulous shot. And
:02:46. > :02:49.the beauty of that, he finished low on the black, so in putting this
:02:50. > :03:20.black, he'll move the pink away. That was a good shot, just at the
:03:21. > :03:22.right bout of spin on it to get the right side of the blue and bring the
:03:23. > :04:35.reds into play. He decided to wait for a better
:04:36. > :04:43.opportunity. Those two reds which are tied up as no problem. He will
:04:44. > :04:54.be disappointed with that, he underhit it by some 2ft. He had the
:04:55. > :05:08.two reds in the middle pocket as well. You don't always catch the cue
:05:09. > :05:16.ball as you'd like. Timing is very important. He'll be very
:05:17. > :05:27.disappointed, because he knows that would have been a real body blow for
:05:28. > :06:19.Judd again. Social on that last one. -- so short on that last blue.
:06:20. > :06:28.I think Judd's going to play to get it back into baulk here.
:06:29. > :06:41.Brilliant shot. You would never say that was the wrong shot, because
:06:42. > :06:48.he's got the cue power to get to the baulk cushion. One of the benefits
:06:49. > :06:56.of cue power is that you don't have to hit it so hard to get the spin
:06:57. > :07:00.on. But I think that red would have been in that any speed. It was dead
:07:01. > :07:25.centre. Stuart Bingham had a good chance
:07:26. > :07:33.earlier on. Got the black and pink open, and lost position.
:07:34. > :07:42.These reds on the side cushion are OK for a right-hander, but not for a
:07:43. > :07:51.left-hander. Not guaranteed to hit these perfectly. Now, has he left
:07:52. > :07:58.one on? If he had been stunning it into them, I would have guaranteed
:07:59. > :08:01.him getting onto a red. But he has not got the desired kiss, so end of
:08:02. > :08:26.break. He's looking at a plant now. Not far
:08:27. > :08:30.out, only about six inches! And about three or four inches between
:08:31. > :08:36.the two balls as well! He's having a go... Yes, he got close. But he had
:08:37. > :08:45.the easiest safety shot in the world. Up in behind the yellow. Wide
:08:46. > :08:48.as he keep giving people chances? He's great, love him to death, but
:08:49. > :09:52.very reckless at times. He has left one down the cushion for
:09:53. > :09:58.Stuart with the long rest, which is never the easiest shot. He had a
:09:59. > :10:09.couple of safety options, which he turned down. That's his choice.
:10:10. > :11:20.I'm sure he can pot this with some side and bring the reds into play.
:11:21. > :11:31.He could have, but he caught it has nothing. Thing is not happening for
:11:32. > :11:52.Stuart at the moment. -- he caught it too thin. Somehow or other, Trump
:11:53. > :11:58.may have rattled him a bit. Still 6-5 in front, though. . Yes, he
:11:59. > :12:10.looked very bemused in potting that green. Just got to be very careful
:12:11. > :12:14.he doesn't make contact with the black on the way back here... That's
:12:15. > :12:35.not a bad pace, either. One of his better safety shots
:12:36. > :12:58.there. Or should I say better shot selection?
:12:59. > :13:09.How did that stay out? Almost hanging over the edge of the slate
:13:10. > :13:18.there into the pocket. Awkward bridging from the maul he'll take
:13:19. > :13:26.pot on into the right corner. -- awkward bridging from there.
:13:27. > :13:58.This frame has become a little bit of a battle now.
:13:59. > :14:15.Putting colours safe - he's cracking up!
:14:16. > :14:37.First 29, though. Bingham needs three, Trump needs four. -- first to
:14:38. > :14:44.nine, of course. Got to worry about the object ball here. Where are the
:14:45. > :14:50.reds going to finish, is the problem. Just a fraction too hard, I
:14:51. > :14:55.thought he had got the snooker. But we know that Judd's going to be
:14:56. > :15:12.tipped it. -- going to be tempted. I think he will just play off top
:15:13. > :16:49.cushioned just rest on the red. He can't do an awful lot with the
:16:50. > :16:53.cue ball. Must get the object ball safe, it doesn't matter so much this
:16:54. > :17:36.time about getting the cue ball in the right place.
:17:37. > :17:58.He was trying to get behind the black off two cushions.
:17:59. > :18:06.Did not want to put the black safe there. He's 14 points behind. He
:18:07. > :18:17.would have preferred the black to stay in place. So, Judd at this
:18:18. > :18:24.moment in time is strong favourite to win this frame. Even stronger
:18:25. > :18:30.now. He did play the double. What kind of kiss is he going to get on
:18:31. > :18:36.the red and green? He just played the snooker. I'm surprised he did
:18:37. > :18:51.not play the cannon, because it looked a straightforward cannon.
:18:52. > :19:29.As we say many times, it's not about hitting it, it's getting it safe.
:19:30. > :19:38.He's 20 points behind now, he does not want to be giving too many fouls
:19:39. > :19:40.away at this stage. That's a good attempt. Very well done.
:19:41. > :19:58.Really tough one. Huge round of applause, the crowd were aware of
:19:59. > :20:05.it. You don't always get that for a safety shot.
:20:06. > :20:18.One good safety shot here would get Stuart in trouble again. Once again,
:20:19. > :20:33.played the double - and got it. 21 points in front now. If he had left
:20:34. > :20:35.Stuart on peace, we would have been saying, why has he gone for the
:20:36. > :20:56.double? But that's the way he plays. Is he putting it safe what is he
:20:57. > :21:00.trying to pot it? Soon find out... That was an excellent shot. One of
:21:01. > :21:24.his best so far. Of course, he will be needing
:21:25. > :21:35.snookers if he misses this. And he does.
:21:36. > :22:05.If it had been 27, Terry, I think it could have still been called a miss.
:22:06. > :22:15.Yes. The problem is, he could possibly missed the brown and go
:22:16. > :22:18.in-off. He's got it, though. And he hasn't gone in-off.
:22:19. > :22:41.He's going to go into the interval at 6-6 come having been 5-2 behind.
:22:42. > :23:16.I wonder whether Stuart will carry on, even if he misses this.
:23:17. > :23:26.29 points in front, so still needs three snookers. Two, actually. But
:23:27. > :23:36.still plenty to do. This is a good effort. What a good
:23:37. > :24:44.effort that was. It has just been a series of 40
:24:45. > :24:48.breaks once again tonight for Judd, but he's won three of the four
:24:49. > :24:59.frames. He caught that one too thin. This
:25:00. > :25:22.brown for 6-6. Clearly not happy with the position
:25:23. > :26:25.of pink and black there. At this standard, when a person
:26:26. > :26:31.needs two snookers, you would have to think you would have to lay about
:26:32. > :27:10.seven or eight to get your opponent to miss two.
:27:11. > :27:24.Well, this has been a remarkable effort. Precious little room behind
:27:25. > :27:33.the back of the black to play it that way and almost get the snooker.
:27:34. > :27:39.Very tough. Could do with the pink or black being further off the
:27:40. > :27:56.cushion if he gets the chance to do that. And that I am pretty sure will
:27:57. > :28:02.be the end of frame. He'll be very, very please, Judd Trump, and so will
:28:03. > :28:11.his army of fans who have travelled down from Bristol. It hasn't been
:28:12. > :28:21.vintage Trump, but that doesn't matter when you get yourself back
:28:22. > :28:25.from 5-2 behind. So, Judd Trump did what he had to do, winning three of
:28:26. > :28:32.the four frames in that session to level the match.
:28:33. > :28:38.Well, this is a situation that few of us could have predicted earlier
:28:39. > :28:43.on, when Stuart Bingham went 4-0 up. But by hook or by crook, Judd Trump
:28:44. > :28:52.has got himself level here in Cardiff. And it is anyone's match
:28:53. > :29:01.now, Dominic! Well, Judd doesn't give up, Besson an attacking player,
:29:02. > :29:12.always at your heels, and he's putting Stuart under pressure now,
:29:13. > :29:20.and it's beginning to tell. And we're going to show you a triple
:29:21. > :29:24.double, three double shots from Judd Trump, which demonstrates his
:29:25. > :29:29.growing confidence. Absolutely. This one was whiskey-ish, but it was a
:29:30. > :29:37.great one to get big as it gave him position on the blue. Two of them
:29:38. > :29:44.were quite difficult doubles, one of them he would have expected to get.
:29:45. > :29:48.But yes, he's feeling confident now, and probably not feeling the
:29:49. > :29:54.pressure that Stuart Bingham is beginning to feel. Probably Stuart
:29:55. > :29:58.will be remembered fact that he was 4-0 up in this match. But this
:29:59. > :30:05.interval has come at a good time for him. I guess we seen a little bit of
:30:06. > :30:12.the flamboyance that you associate with Judd Trump? Yes, Judd plays in
:30:13. > :30:17.the manner of Jimmy White or Alex Rins. But in that era, you could
:30:18. > :30:21.probably make three or four mistakes in a frame and still win it. You
:30:22. > :30:25.can't do that these days, so for somebody to be at the top of the
:30:26. > :30:31.sport saying in that manner is amazing. And it's testament to how
:30:32. > :30:35.good a player Judd is. I have criticised him in times gone by for
:30:36. > :30:39.his cue ball control, and maybe that has sometimes let him down when he
:30:40. > :30:46.has broken down on current. But when the balls split favourably for him,
:30:47. > :30:49.he still makes 100 breaks. He's made 40 centuries this season, so he must
:30:50. > :30:58.be playing well. You may have seen a fair number of
:30:59. > :31:06.new faces around the arena this week. Not just players, but new
:31:07. > :31:10.referees on the circuit. 19 ranking events now, and 12 countries staging
:31:11. > :31:14.tournaments, more referees are required. What makes you want to do
:31:15. > :31:23.the job, and how do they go about finding the ones?
:31:24. > :31:28.They come to us on the European tour, so they are already qualified
:31:29. > :31:33.from their national governing bodies. They already know what they
:31:34. > :31:38.are doing from a basics point of view. We can identify them after
:31:39. > :31:43.watching them for a few matches, we know the ones to look at, who have
:31:44. > :31:47.the natural ability and can follow the game very well. We spent a bit
:31:48. > :31:55.more time with them and try to bring them along. I started watching
:31:56. > :31:59.snooker when I was 13. But we did not have any snooker tables in my
:32:00. > :32:07.hometown. So a few years later, when I moved to Sophia, I took a course
:32:08. > :32:10.and became a referee. I first started watching snooker 11 years
:32:11. > :32:17.ago, it quarterfinal of the Welsh Open. I did not think I could become
:32:18. > :32:21.a referee, cos we did not have any tournaments or players in Bulgaria,
:32:22. > :32:29.so there was no need for referees. Started growing bigger in Bulgaria,
:32:30. > :32:34.so I wanted to make the next step and become a referee. Some of the
:32:35. > :32:38.bigger names to play on the back tables, they are not in the
:32:39. > :32:42.limelight, and that is a good chance for the up-and-coming referees to
:32:43. > :32:45.get the experience of refereeing those but not putting them in front
:32:46. > :32:51.of a thousand people, which could put them under pressure. Discipline,
:32:52. > :32:55.concentration. It is not just on the table, but of the table, you are on
:32:56. > :33:00.time, you set your table up, discipline, that is what we drill
:33:01. > :33:04.into them. When they are on the table, it is the same again, is up
:33:05. > :33:11.and, concentration. It is a pressure job. The ultimate aim is each event
:33:12. > :33:18.gets refereed the same way. No matter who the referee is. We want
:33:19. > :33:22.every big to be consistent. I did the final here in 2002 when Paul
:33:23. > :33:29.Hunter won it. Any big final is massive. The Crucible is the one,
:33:30. > :33:34.but all of the finals come once you get a crowd involved, two good
:33:35. > :33:39.players, and you get immersed in it. If you cannot concentrate there, you
:33:40. > :33:42.will never concentrate. It is a huge honour to do any ranking event, this
:33:43. > :33:49.is my fifth one, and the second Welsh. Might get a bit nervous to
:33:50. > :33:53.start with, but once you get into the routine it is a joy. Totally
:33:54. > :34:00.neutral, but I am hoping for a cracking final.
:34:01. > :34:03.Plenty of new refereeing talent coming through, but what about
:34:04. > :34:09.players? We got eclipse of the future this week with the two Welsh
:34:10. > :34:12.wild cards who have been competing here, and Terry Griffiths has been
:34:13. > :34:18.taking a look at the state of the game in this country.
:34:19. > :34:25.Every youngster who picks up a cue to play this wonderful game dreams
:34:26. > :34:31.of winning, of becoming a champion. We may be a small nation, but like
:34:32. > :34:39.our rugby, we have a proud tradition of producing great players. Max
:34:40. > :34:44.Boyce sank of a Welsh outside half factory, a production line of gifted
:34:45. > :34:47.players built from south Wales coal. There was a time when we had a
:34:48. > :34:55.snooker factory, manufacturing magicians of the baize, at that has
:34:56. > :35:03.started to run dry. Will we ever produce another Ray Reardon or Mark
:35:04. > :35:06.Williams? This week at the Welsh Open two young talented Welsh
:35:07. > :35:12.amateur players were given wild cards to play with the big boys and
:35:13. > :35:20.to experience the big stage. Tyler Rees from my hometown, Llanelli, and
:35:21. > :35:25.Jackson page, from Mark Williams country, Ebbw Vale, came here and
:35:26. > :35:35.created huge interest. Who is Jackson? 15, from Ebbw Vale. He is
:35:36. > :35:44.living his dream, buzzing. Should you not be in school? Yes. I have
:35:45. > :35:47.had a bit of time off this week. One of the best bits is going to the
:35:48. > :35:54.players' lounge and practising amongst the pros see what they do
:35:55. > :36:00.with their time, being around this place am feeling like a player, like
:36:01. > :36:05.you should be here. It is the right decision to put them as wild cards.
:36:06. > :36:11.There should not be any of the older people getting wild cards. Any
:36:12. > :36:17.experience they can get has got to be good. Jackson enjoyed his time in
:36:18. > :36:21.the limelight. Winning two matches before running into Judd Trump,
:36:22. > :36:26.himself a child prodigy a decade ago. The wild cards are perfect.
:36:27. > :36:33.They should only really go to younger players that are looking for
:36:34. > :36:37.a chance. It is great experience for them, I would have loved to have had
:36:38. > :36:42.that opportunity before I was 16 to see where I was at. Almost unseen
:36:43. > :36:48.here, we got a glint of the future of the game. Within a few hours of
:36:49. > :36:54.Jackson's televised match with Judd Trump, on the same table a young
:36:55. > :36:58.Chinese 17-year-old beat Mark Selby. He has been talked about for over a
:36:59. > :37:02.year, he has had a good season so far. He showed what a great player
:37:03. > :37:08.he is, he held himself together well. The Chinese production line is
:37:09. > :37:13.in full flow, with so many talented players coming through. All of the
:37:14. > :37:18.wild cards over the past five or six years, playing at the start tables,
:37:19. > :37:21.it is one of the main reasons they are as good as they are now. The
:37:22. > :37:26.youngsters from China are unbelievable. We need to start
:37:27. > :37:31.giving the youngsters a chance. There are some talented ones out
:37:32. > :37:37.there. Give them a chance and hopefully they will enjoy it. I
:37:38. > :37:40.returned's mantra is that sports entertainment will thrive when
:37:41. > :37:45.competition is at its most fears, but is more than elite snooker to
:37:46. > :37:50.brutal? It is brutal, you feel like you cannot win a match after a
:37:51. > :37:59.losing streak. I barely lost as a teenager. A massive step up then,
:38:00. > :38:03.and I got on the tour, and you cannot win to what three matches in
:38:04. > :38:07.a row. When I was coming through, it was how it should be, you can build
:38:08. > :38:13.momentum, against the lower ranked professionals, and get to the final
:38:14. > :38:18.venue and play the top players. Nowadays it is a bit too hard for
:38:19. > :38:22.the younger players. We need to give the next generation every chance to
:38:23. > :38:27.flourish in this brave new world of fierce competition. Let's hope it is
:38:28. > :38:33.not too long for our young Welsh players left the Ray Reardon Trophy,
:38:34. > :38:38.to continue our proud legacy as one of snooker's superpowers.
:38:39. > :38:42.We will talk about the future in a moment, but I am delighted to say we
:38:43. > :38:50.have been joined by a big star of years gone by, the Welsh sporting
:38:51. > :38:54.legend Ray Reardon. How are you? I am very well, nice to be here. You
:38:55. > :39:05.live in Devon these days. That is right. I have not been back here for
:39:06. > :39:11.three years. It is too long. Enjoying your stay? It is an up and
:39:12. > :39:19.back job today. One night in Cardiff. It does not give me a
:39:20. > :39:24.chance to see my relatives. You are here because the wonderful trophy
:39:25. > :39:30.that we saw there is now named after you. How does that feel? Whoever
:39:31. > :39:34.wins that, it is a tough match out there at the moment, but it is a
:39:35. > :39:45.lovely trophy. It is one for the sideboard. Pride of place. A nice
:39:46. > :39:49.bit of Waterford Crystal. I identified it immediately! The last
:39:50. > :39:54.time I saw him, I spilt red wine down his shirt and tie at the 2006
:39:55. > :39:59.World Championship. I am lucky I change my Thai! It is a different
:40:00. > :40:07.one! What does it mean to you, for the trophy to be named after you? It
:40:08. > :40:15.came as a big surprise. When it came by letter, I was over the moon. It
:40:16. > :40:21.is nice. I was deeply honoured. Very excited. It is very kind of them.
:40:22. > :40:25.All the people who made it possible, thank you very much indeed. I do not
:40:26. > :40:32.know if people still have mantelpieces, but it should take
:40:33. > :40:38.pride of place on one. They will have one in Wales! How are you
:40:39. > :40:45.enjoying the final? It is nipped in to. It is anybody's game, it is
:40:46. > :40:49.good. They are in and not working it out properly. The table is speedy.
:40:50. > :40:54.You know the table is better than me, they are fast, which is ideal
:40:55. > :41:00.for making breaks will stop wonderful. Ronnie Wood love it in
:41:01. > :41:05.there. That is why he wins so many tournaments these days will stop it
:41:06. > :41:11.is like being on a golf course with fast greens. Augusta. Magic. Give me
:41:12. > :41:15.your thoughts on the state of the modern game and what you think of it
:41:16. > :41:20.compared to your era. It is very good, I love it. They have changed
:41:21. > :41:30.the format, there are more tournaments. The best-of-7 frames,
:41:31. > :41:34.it is anybody's game. Anybody out of the top 16 would love it. Maybe the
:41:35. > :41:38.ones above would not think so much of it. It is a give and take
:41:39. > :41:44.business. It was introduced for the spectators. They see two games
:41:45. > :41:48.rather than one, so they get better value for money, more people can see
:41:49. > :41:54.a surprise result, and nobody seems to be domineering in the way they
:41:55. > :41:58.did in the 80s and 90s. Not forgetting my bit in the 70s,
:41:59. > :42:04.obviously! Just the six world titles! F8's they played the final
:42:05. > :42:10.in Preston last week, Barry Hawkins and Ryan Day, they were down here on
:42:11. > :42:15.the Monday, so they had to drive from Preston. I do not suppose they
:42:16. > :42:18.got to bed until 2am, then they have to drive down here and play on the
:42:19. > :42:27.Monday, they should have a day's grace. The organisation should sort
:42:28. > :42:34.that out. You undecided. What about these two. Fantastic, great players.
:42:35. > :42:39.There are so many great players today, it is difficult to pick a
:42:40. > :42:43.winner. In my day, there would be half a dozen who could win it, but
:42:44. > :42:52.now there must be 50 or more. It is tough. I heard you talking about the
:42:53. > :42:59.15-year-old from Wales. As a young lad in the audience now, Ivan
:43:00. > :43:05.Davies, his father rang me up a couple of weeks ago, I got him to
:43:06. > :43:10.meet me in the audience, 11 years of age, he has made a 108 break, that
:43:11. > :43:14.is nice. It shows how the game is progressing. We will hope to see
:43:15. > :43:21.Tyler Rees and Jackson page make their way. 6-6 in this final, what
:43:22. > :43:26.do you see happening? I think it will be one all lost mentally,
:43:27. > :43:31.whoever takes the chances the best and deals with adversity the best.
:43:32. > :43:36.Judd Trump will try to pop his way to victory and Stuart Bingham will
:43:37. > :43:43.try to score heavily but mediate his shot choices a bit more. Who for
:43:44. > :43:52.you, Ray? I wish them both the best of luck. There is not much in it. It
:43:53. > :43:57.is touch and go. You know me, it takes a long time to say something!
:43:58. > :44:02.Ruble go back into the arena, it is time to get show back under way.
:44:03. > :44:07.Here comes the climax. These welcome back your players, Stuart Bingham
:44:08. > :44:36.and Judd Trump! E join our commentary team for the
:44:37. > :44:39.final session here in Cardiff of the 2017 Welsh Open final, Darren Morgan
:44:40. > :44:48.and Willie Thorne. What a pleasure it was to see Ray
:44:49. > :44:54.Reardon in the studio there. Six time champion of the world, an
:44:55. > :45:01.absolute legend. Judd Trump is level. I thought Stuart Bingham in
:45:02. > :45:09.the first four frames this evening looked a bit cautious, Darren. Yes,
:45:10. > :45:20.it has a different start from what he had earlier this afternoon. It is
:45:21. > :45:23.game on again now. We were saying earlier at the end of the last
:45:24. > :45:32.session Judd Trump needed to win the frame to come in tonight at least
:45:33. > :45:36.5-3. He would have been coming out looking to win the first session 3-1
:45:37. > :45:47.to level everything up. Again, which he has done. This is an important
:45:48. > :45:52.frame. They are all important. But I think it is more imperative for
:45:53. > :45:54.Stuart Bingham to get a frame back on the board and re-establish his
:45:55. > :46:11.authority. The key stat is should Bingham's pot
:46:12. > :46:13.success has dropped below 90%. You have to be above 90 to win any
:46:14. > :46:28.tournament. But that is excellent. It has to be above 92 win at this
:46:29. > :46:34.level. If he goes on to win this match, it will be above 90, I am
:46:35. > :46:39.sure. I do not think the black or pink art in play, so he may go brown
:46:40. > :46:43.or green into the pink. The brown has a perfect angle to do that.
:46:44. > :47:08.There is a bit of mileage to playing into the pink and reds.
:47:09. > :47:19.I can only presume he has played for the wreck above the black. He has
:47:20. > :47:26.gone into it a bit too much. From that angle he would have been on
:47:27. > :47:29.that perfect. It would have been tight where ever he had finished.
:47:30. > :47:34.That is why I thought he would play into the pink. He had to be into the
:47:35. > :47:40.inch, whereas if he had played into the pink and reds, a slight chance
:47:41. > :47:42.he would have brought it all into play. He has a safety shop now,
:47:43. > :47:51.unless he takes the long one on. No attempt at the pot there, just
:47:52. > :48:31.try to play the good safety. He can play a run through with top
:48:32. > :48:52.spin. He is just looking very edgy to me,
:48:53. > :49:01.Stuart. He has been slotting these in all week, bread and butter shot.
:49:02. > :49:03.A lot more pressure at the moment, coming right to the business end of
:49:04. > :49:18.the event. This is Judd Trump's best chance of
:49:19. > :49:25.going into the lead in this match for the first time. If he puts the
:49:26. > :49:28.colour, red and colour, it will be the first time he has gone into the
:49:29. > :49:44.lead. He has always been chasing. That looks absolutely perfect and
:49:45. > :50:00.the red apathy that goes. This blue and he takes the lead for
:50:01. > :50:42.the first time. Clearly not a frame-winning
:50:43. > :50:55.opportunity at the minute, with that red very tight. He will do well to
:50:56. > :51:02.score above 40. He has had a good look at this red. It is not look
:51:03. > :51:12.like it pot. The red looks like it is on the way. We will know after
:51:13. > :51:20.this if he thinks it pot. He does. If it does, he can hold it for the
:51:21. > :51:22.pink. You have to play it now, you have looked at it twice, and nothing
:51:23. > :51:40.has moved since. I was with you on that. I could
:51:41. > :51:46.clearly see that that did not go. He thought he could pinch it off the
:51:47. > :51:53.draw. That looked like it would not go by a mile.
:51:54. > :53:02.No damage done, though. Still just left with a safety to be played.
:53:03. > :53:10.He has not been finding the baulk cushion so far this evening. That is
:53:11. > :53:15.why Judd Trump has been potting a lot of shots do nothing. That is
:53:16. > :53:26.where he needs the cue ball to keep Judd Trump off the table. That will
:53:27. > :53:31.be called Amis. I think Stuart is entitled to have it put back. Even
:53:32. > :54:06.if he catches one of the reds, he could knock one on.
:54:07. > :54:16.Stuart suggesting there is a chalk mark from his tip. Sometimes it does
:54:17. > :54:20.not make any difference, I always used to say to the referee, if he is
:54:21. > :54:29.still going to play the same shot, I am happy. I agree. Before this came
:54:30. > :54:35.in, with the use of the TV monitor, it was down to the players and the
:54:36. > :54:39.referee to decide anyway. With the shot he is playing, he is going to
:54:40. > :54:51.play the same shot every time to get into the back of the pack. This one
:54:52. > :54:58.he has gone wide. He is never going to do damage here, so he will make
:54:59. > :55:02.another adjustment. It is a very big target, in fairness, six or seven
:55:03. > :55:10.inches of pack he can hit of the questions.
:55:11. > :55:19.I am sure he can see a ball full ball and he may get warned. Maybe he
:55:20. > :55:31.cannot see it full ball, because he has not been warned.
:55:32. > :56:20.Touching ball declared. He might try to put the white back in the same
:56:21. > :56:25.place as it was. He will play in behind the yellow this way. Not
:56:26. > :56:58.tight, but tight on the baulk cushion, around the yellow spot.
:56:59. > :57:04.If the black had been out in the open, Stuart Bingham might have been
:57:05. > :57:09.tempted to go for the red into the right corner. But the pink and black
:57:10. > :57:15.are tied up, so I cannot see much value. He would have to played with
:57:16. > :57:32.a lot of pace. A good safety is the order of the day.
:57:33. > :57:44.Under normal circumstances even the pink and black are tied up, Judd
:57:45. > :57:52.would be having a go at it. As it happens, he has a shot to nothing.
:57:53. > :58:20.His long potting right throughout this tournament has been terrific.
:58:21. > :58:28.The only thing that has been missing is a century break. It will be tough
:58:29. > :58:42.to get on from here, where the balls are, but nice breaks. A bit of
:58:43. > :58:49.movement in the crowd. Topside of the blue, then he can get good of
:58:50. > :58:58.the red below the pink. That was a long way away.
:58:59. > :59:03.That is unbelievable, after the red he knocked into get in. He will not
:59:04. > :59:36.have expected to have missed that. He was hoping for the cue ball to
:59:37. > :59:37.run another three or four inches. He will have to pot either a tricky
:59:38. > :59:44.brown or green. He did not have to do a lot with the
:59:45. > :59:57.cue ball. It was a solid shot. In the context of this match, this
:59:58. > :00:10.is a very big frame, really important.
:00:11. > :00:22.Stuart, having been in total control in this match, has seen Judd Trump
:00:23. > :00:31.begging him back. Look at one stage that he was going to be having an
:00:32. > :00:38.early bat and on his way home. Could have done with another 2ft of pace
:00:39. > :00:44.in that cue ball. He would have liked to have been on the one next
:00:45. > :00:50.to the pink. He will have to go up for the blue again now. He just has
:00:51. > :01:04.to make sure he gets top of the blue. Amazing, isn't it? Two inches
:01:05. > :01:18.shorter, it's absolutely perfect. But from that position, not sure
:01:19. > :01:21.whether he can hold it for the pink. And he's nicely on the red - good
:01:22. > :01:50.shot. Well, that was a miscalculation. He
:01:51. > :01:56.has played to move the two reds. I can only think the pace of the cue
:01:57. > :02:07.ball has just changed the angle in striking the red, so all he can do
:02:08. > :02:10.is lay the snooker. He knows that's one that's Ottaway. Still in the
:02:11. > :02:37.driving seat. -- that's what a way. He has got this tricky red across
:02:38. > :02:44.the cush, but at this stage of the match, is he going to be tempted?
:02:45. > :02:51.He's been very cagey tonight, Stuart Bingham. First four frames earlier
:02:52. > :03:04.on, he would have been playing that red. He's played quite good safety.
:03:05. > :03:07.Looking at this, he can just get past the blue to the potting angle
:03:08. > :03:33.of this red nearest the pink spot. Always better when you're playing
:03:34. > :03:46.that shot on the thin side. Trying to get in the back green and brown.
:03:47. > :03:52.-- in behind green and brown. Stuart's safety has been poor this
:03:53. > :03:53.evening, hasn't found the baulk cushion very often. You can see the
:03:54. > :04:50.frustration in his face. He's very close to the baulk cushion
:04:51. > :05:10.this time. Awkward cueing. He could be pushing a red towards
:05:11. > :05:14.the right corner. He's head that a lot thicker than he would have
:05:15. > :05:33.liked. But he's OK. He will have to be careful he does
:05:34. > :05:43.not push a red over the corner this time. Another two inches of pace, it
:05:44. > :06:13.would have been absolutely perfect. Good safety shot, that.
:06:14. > :06:20.I don't think I've ever seen that before, where he's asked Stuart to
:06:21. > :06:26.look rather than the referee to look. He feels he can get through to
:06:27. > :06:30.this red, and Stuart would probably think he was taking advantage if he
:06:31. > :06:34.plays it next time and can hit the red. I don't think I've ever seen
:06:35. > :06:39.that before. It's always the referee, and the player should stay
:06:40. > :06:44.away from the shot. That was very strange. But he feels he can hit it.
:06:45. > :08:02.And he could. Well played. Unlucky. And both these players good friends
:08:03. > :08:14.off the table. In fact, as this tournament finishes tonight, another
:08:15. > :08:21.one starts tomorrow. Seven players playing in it, and who is up first
:08:22. > :08:28.match? Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham. It's quite ironic. I don't
:08:29. > :08:32.think Judd Trump has brought his car with him, and I think he might be
:08:33. > :08:38.having a lift to the tournament tomorrow with Stuart! Not friends
:08:39. > :09:26.out there at the moment, though. It's war!
:09:27. > :09:38.Well, again, another great long pot from Judd Trump. There wasn't much
:09:39. > :09:42.room there, either. . He has to be careful he doesn't cannon into the
:09:43. > :09:47.pink or black, because he could find himself snookered. Amazingly, he
:09:48. > :09:56.went right through the middle of both of them. He's not happy, who
:09:57. > :10:07.does not appear to be on the middle of the three reds, which was the one
:10:08. > :10:19.he played for. Just a fraction too hard. Is he going to risk the long
:10:20. > :10:28.pink into the corner? I don't blame him for taking this on. He's behind
:10:29. > :10:37.and he knows that if he pots this, he could take this friend. -- he
:10:38. > :10:44.could take this frame. So there is an advantage in taking this on. It's
:10:45. > :10:49.there. Bringing the black into play as well. He generates so much power,
:10:50. > :11:09.with very little backswing. Is the black going to go on its own
:11:10. > :11:30.spot comfortably? If it doesn't, he might have to take the black.
:11:31. > :11:40.And if there is anybody interested, incidentally, to watch this
:11:41. > :11:44.Champions League, in Essex, it starts tomorrow, and you can see
:11:45. > :11:55.these leaf wonderful players battling it out yet again. I was so
:11:56. > :12:05.surprised he played to pot the black, because he was tying up the
:12:06. > :12:06.red and black. Unlucky not to have a straightforward shot on the pink or
:12:07. > :12:45.black. He has given Stuart a big advantage
:12:46. > :12:48.in this safety exchange now. He can at him in behind the yellow and
:12:49. > :14:06.blue. -- he can put him in behind. Well, he wasn't far away from that
:14:07. > :14:12.long red there. I gave some wrong information a couple of minutes ago.
:14:13. > :14:15.So I'm going to correct myself because I don't want people coming
:14:16. > :14:28.to find out where I live and taking it out on me. As you can see, the
:14:29. > :14:32.match time is up to four powers. And I think there is still quite a way
:14:33. > :14:45.to go before we get a conclusion to this. A little bit fortunate, but he
:14:46. > :14:50.will take it. Back to my wrong information - the play tomorrow is
:14:51. > :15:01.at the Ricoh Arena, and you can watch it live streaming. You won't
:15:02. > :15:07.be allowed in. Where is that brown going? That's the worst possible
:15:08. > :15:20.outcome for Stuart Bingham. A lot of distance between both balls.
:15:21. > :15:33.He does play those shot is very, very well. Still a lot to do in this
:15:34. > :15:40.frame. And he must be thinking, this is starting to slip away slightly.
:15:41. > :15:52.In total control at the 4-0 up. Looked like going 6-2. So close.
:15:53. > :16:03.Yes, a right-handed player would not have played that. He missed it by
:16:04. > :16:15.just a fraction. Worse still, he doesn't have an easy safety shot.
:16:16. > :16:41.You can't help feeling that the run is slightly helping Judd Trump now,
:16:42. > :16:42.he's in the ascendancy. That was a very well played shot, no luck
:16:43. > :16:58.involved there whatsoever. Now, Judd has played it firm to
:16:59. > :17:04.leave distance between the cue ball and object ball. Well, what a result
:17:05. > :17:11.that is for Stuart Bingham. A few seconds ago, you would have thought
:17:12. > :17:16.he would have been out of the frame. Green to brown is not
:17:17. > :17:19.straightforward here. The green going back onto its own spot would
:17:20. > :17:28.help, so I wonder if he will play for the green off this red.
:17:29. > :18:06.For me, that's definitely the right shot.
:18:07. > :18:23.And I just said it looked like the run had changed in favour of Judd
:18:24. > :18:31.Trump. Commentator's curse! I think Willie is right, red to green would
:18:32. > :18:47.make things a little bit easier for him.
:18:48. > :19:00.And now, the clearance should be OK. Any sort of angle on the green is
:19:01. > :19:07.good, anything but straight. And that's OK.
:19:08. > :19:15.This will hurt Judd Trump, because it looks like for the first time he
:19:16. > :19:31.was going to take a one frame advantage in this match. Stuart may
:19:32. > :19:44.have a bit of a bounce in his step again now, if he takes this frame.
:19:45. > :19:48.Mind you, what's happened there? That pink was harder than it should
:19:49. > :19:50.have been. For in it goes, and Stuart Bingham will take a big sigh
:19:51. > :20:05.of relief. Stuart Bingham will be a lot happier
:20:06. > :20:08.now. It's just so difficult. We thought earlier that it would go the
:20:09. > :20:15.distance, and it looks like it could. The momentum is swinging one
:20:16. > :20:19.way and then the other? Yes, it is. That was a chance for Judd Trump to
:20:20. > :20:27.take the lead for the first time, at a crucial stage, and I was beginning
:20:28. > :20:37.to think that the tide was turning in Judd's favour. But Stuart played
:20:38. > :20:44.a really good shot out of a snooker, which Judd had been fortuitous to
:20:45. > :20:51.leave. Judd was very unfortunate to go in-off. A lot of side spin on the
:20:52. > :20:58.cue ball which helped it in. And the worst thing ever for Judd, the red
:20:59. > :21:03.has gone into baulk, and it's a fairly simple clearance. Was a long
:21:04. > :21:09.frame, 35 minutes. And they have been in action since one o'clock,
:21:10. > :21:12.with that break in the middle. To what extent does tiredness start to
:21:13. > :21:19.creep in, because that was a really scrappy frame? Hallam adrenaline
:21:20. > :21:31.kicks in, and they will not be particularly mentally tired, really.
:21:32. > :21:41.It is a very close affair now, very tense, every frame is vital. And you
:21:42. > :21:46.were saying that you felt that Judd was starting to make sure folder
:21:47. > :21:50.wobble under pressure perhaps? Yes. But I still think this final could
:21:51. > :22:00.go all the way. This next frame is enormous now. Of Judd Trump can win
:22:01. > :22:08.it, he's right back in there. If Stuart Bingham can win it, he's got
:22:09. > :22:17.a bit of daylight. What drama we've got, then, in the final, in Cardiff.
:22:18. > :22:30.So, here we go. Stuart Bingham breaking off, he'll be very relieved
:22:31. > :22:34.that he's managed to keep his lead. We're going to see another trademark
:22:35. > :22:40.Judd Trump special. He has been knocking these in all day. More
:22:41. > :22:50.pressure now, though. Still, again, never in doubt, really. His long
:22:51. > :22:57.game has been absolutely fantastic. Yes. Stuart's going to have to work
:22:58. > :23:04.on his break-off. He has left that shot to nothing in at least half the
:23:05. > :23:09.frames where he has broken off. I can't tell you how hard it is to
:23:10. > :23:17.play them that strength, and there wasn't a very big gap between black
:23:18. > :23:23.and red. If he gets a good angle on the next black, he'll finish on the
:23:24. > :23:39.red behind the pack and open some more out. Two long frames, the last
:23:40. > :23:49.two, 35 minutes and 36 minutes - I did not expect to see any frames go
:23:50. > :23:58.that long in this match. It's like a forcing screw, that shot. Oh! I did
:23:59. > :24:02.not see that coming, I've got to say, that was a twitch. A lot of
:24:03. > :24:10.movement on that shot as he played it
:24:11. > :24:17.. Not as bad as I thought it was at first glance, but it's definitely a
:24:18. > :25:23.twitch. REFEREE: Foul, Stuart Bingham one,
:25:24. > :25:42.Judd Trump, five. WILLIE THORNE: He's in trouble now
:25:43. > :25:47.with the safety shot, because Judd will put him back into bar
:25:48. > :26:01.theatrical visitor free ball? No, it's not. -- he will put him back
:26:02. > :26:21.into bat here. Is it a free ball? Surely it's not.
:26:22. > :26:28.He's having a look at something. I'm not sure what he thinks he has
:26:29. > :26:35.found. There is certainly no plant there. I cannot imagine he's going
:26:36. > :26:42.to attempt to play this shot. He has now asked if there IS a free ball.
:26:43. > :26:47.It must be close, because if you took the four reds from just to the
:26:48. > :26:49.right of the pink... It's not going to matter now. He has put Stuart
:26:50. > :27:59.Bingham back in. Well, they don't come much better
:28:00. > :28:07.than that. He's played that with a lot of bottom and side. Great pot.
:28:08. > :28:16.I think what might have frustrated Judd all day today as well, he's
:28:17. > :28:29.been the wrong side of the blue more than he's been the right side, so
:28:30. > :28:36.he's have played these long pots. -- so he's had to play these long pots.
:28:37. > :28:37.And again, he's going to have to play another good pot. Did not want
:28:38. > :28:55.the cannon on the red there. The only thing I can think of is the
:28:56. > :29:09.plant just to the left of the pink, and that's what he's played for.
:29:10. > :29:20.It's just a safety. That's the only thing I feel with Judd Trump this
:29:21. > :29:25.week, he just hasn't scored. His long potting has been good, his
:29:26. > :29:33.safety has been good, he's just struggled to score. I'm sure he's
:29:34. > :29:37.had more 40s and 50s than anybody else. And we know he has certainly
:29:38. > :29:44.lost more frames than anybody else from 40-odd in front. I can think of
:29:45. > :29:48.at least seven frames that he's lost from that position. Once again,
:29:49. > :29:54.Stuart not finding the baulk cushion. So that makes this safety
:29:55. > :30:09.shot quite straightforward. And the back red I think cuts in the corner,
:30:10. > :30:16.so he will be playing the pot. This time, though, it did not go in. And
:30:17. > :30:17.Stuart can play it quite confidently, knowing that he's got
:30:18. > :30:33.the blue in play. He would like to be on the Hof Paul
:30:34. > :30:40.Green, that would be perfect. That could be a frame-winner, because you
:30:41. > :30:41.would expect him to get 30 or 40, nicely on the red, because black and
:30:42. > :30:48.pink art available. This is a chance. A great chance to
:30:49. > :31:43.go 8-6 in front. He can get through to this red. Even
:31:44. > :31:50.though Judd Trump is a frame behind, he has scored more points. This
:31:51. > :31:56.frame has taken the same pattern as quite a few of the others, Judd has
:31:57. > :32:02.gone in with 30 or 40, all the are awkward, he has got himself a
:32:03. > :32:07.thread, and he has thrown a lifeline to Stuart Bingham when the balls of
:32:08. > :32:13.a lot clearer in the table is a lot less messy. He played for the pink.
:32:14. > :32:22.Disappointed with the way it came off the cushion.
:32:23. > :32:30.He has underscrewed it. He did not get into that at all. Quite a big
:32:31. > :32:34.margin of error there, he could have screwed back another two feet. He
:32:35. > :32:39.was more concerned with overscrewing it. He wanted the white back to
:32:40. > :32:51.where his hand is. A lot wider than he wanted. Will he take this red on?
:32:52. > :32:55.He can play this as a shock to nothing, screw it in and get onto
:32:56. > :33:06.the blue. He will be disappointed he did not
:33:07. > :33:37.score heavily there, that was a great chance.
:33:38. > :33:45.If you can get through to this red to the right corner... That. The
:33:46. > :33:58.best safety shot he has played. How confident is he? He has played the
:33:59. > :34:09.follow-through. He could have done without a cannon on the pink. Still
:34:10. > :34:14.a good strike. A lot thinner on the pink than he would like. He has
:34:15. > :34:23.spotted quite a few of these greens today. One good shot away from
:34:24. > :34:35.potentially putting himself in a winning position in this frame.
:34:36. > :34:44.He played the more difficult shot. He is not very happy. A couple of
:34:45. > :34:50.little hand gestures going on, that he has got away with that a little
:34:51. > :35:01.bit. This was a real difficult shot, this blue. He was playing it with
:35:02. > :35:05.loads of left-hand side. A miracle to get away with it. Any sort of
:35:06. > :35:07.space of the question, these words would have been available. He has
:35:08. > :36:11.not left anything on. Another very well played safety. He
:36:12. > :36:13.has found the baulk cushion this time, Stuart Bingham. He has Judd
:36:14. > :36:40.Trump in a bit of trouble here. Not a bad shot wide Judd Trump. He
:36:41. > :36:45.has dangerously gone close to the corner pocket. It did not look like
:36:46. > :36:51.he could play that shot. He took a bit risk, but he has given Stuart
:36:52. > :36:57.Bingham a shock to nothing. The red below the pink. The cue ball will
:36:58. > :37:09.come down towards the blue. Excellent execution of a shot you
:37:10. > :37:45.think. It is going awkward for both players
:37:46. > :37:55.at the moment. They cannot seem to get perfect position.
:37:56. > :38:04.Can he get the position on this one red below the black? He could do
:38:05. > :38:10.with finishing close to it to make it easier to get onto the black for
:38:11. > :38:13.the next shot. I think he can screw back directly from the green and
:38:14. > :38:20.come off one, maybe two cushions, get onto the red. He is blessed with
:38:21. > :38:27.a lot of key power. He has played the direct screw, this looks OK. But
:38:28. > :38:46.another two inches would have been perfect.
:38:47. > :38:56.That was not easy. And at pace, trying to go down for the blue. They
:38:57. > :39:02.have no chance when it hits the near jaw. Judd Trump has not played the
:39:03. > :39:09.best shot ever there, it has gone in the right jaw. He stunned instead of
:39:10. > :39:14.dragging back a couple of inches. It is awkward to play the shot he is
:39:15. > :39:19.looking at. He would love to go in and out, between the yellow and
:39:20. > :39:27.brown. He will have to go between brown and green, I think. That is
:39:28. > :39:36.what he has played. How is his luck? Not very good. Still a great shot. A
:39:37. > :40:08.brilliant effort. It really was a great effort.
:40:09. > :40:19.Court that one little bit too thick. Again, he has left a pot on, either
:40:20. > :40:33.the cut into the middle or the stunned into the corner.
:40:34. > :40:44.Anywhere but there, unless the blue passes I cannot see him taking the
:40:45. > :40:48.pot on here. He can see the pink, just, but cannot get close to the
:40:49. > :40:56.red to make it easy. Just enough room on the pink to come off two
:40:57. > :41:01.cushions, but he would finish two feet away from the red. Is it worth
:41:02. > :41:17.taking the green? He is a good player with the rest.
:41:18. > :41:31.Even if he gets on the red, it is not easy. I am dumbfounded he has
:41:32. > :41:36.even tried to play that. Even if he gets perfect on the red, he is under
:41:37. > :41:41.all kinds of pressure to drop it in to make the pot. He is in the
:41:42. > :41:49.driving seat in this frame. A strange choice of shot.
:41:50. > :41:55.It is not easy to get this safe either, because if he tries to push
:41:56. > :41:59.it up and down the table, he will push it towards a pocket, but if he
:42:00. > :42:05.plays it thin, he has to make sure he does not knock it into a portable
:42:06. > :42:49.position, which he may have done. What a little nudge that is.
:42:50. > :43:23.You see how much side he had on the cue ball firm. It pinged off the
:43:24. > :43:38.cushion. He has played that very well. That
:43:39. > :43:49.could have gone wrong, if he had kissed into the back of the brown.
:43:50. > :44:01.Barring a catastrophe, it looks like Judd Trump will level this match up.
:44:02. > :44:12.This brown... Stuart Bingham knows he has had a couple of chances to
:44:13. > :44:24.extend his lead to two. This has got the final frame all over it.
:44:25. > :44:30.You would have to say it is another frame that has been a little bit
:44:31. > :44:38.scrappy, a lot of pressure out there. Judd Trump will probably be
:44:39. > :44:48.feeling the better out of the two. A couple of exhibition shots.
:44:49. > :44:55.The black does not go in, but Stuart Bingham is leaving the room to
:44:56. > :44:57.gather his thoughts. He knows he had a chance to extend his lead, but
:44:58. > :45:10.Judd Trump draws level. All square again. You would still be
:45:11. > :45:21.brave to call this one. We still possibly have three frames left.
:45:22. > :45:29.Regardless of what happens tonight, Judd Trump will move up to third.
:45:30. > :45:34.John Higgins goes down to sixth. Mark Williams hanging onto his place
:45:35. > :45:39.in the top 16. He went out in the first round, a really disappointing
:45:40. > :45:43.week. He is hoping to hold onto his spot ahead of the World
:45:44. > :45:48.Championships. We talked about this earlier, the fact that the top 16
:45:49. > :45:52.qualify automatically, everybody else has to go through three
:45:53. > :45:59.qualifying rounds. Yes, it happened last year, with Ding Junhui, the
:46:00. > :46:05.great player from China, one of the greatest, he has won five ranking
:46:06. > :46:09.events in one season, he finished number 17, he had to win three
:46:10. > :46:16.matches to qualify, and it is tough. And a few days later, you have to
:46:17. > :46:20.actually play at the Crucible, so you are already jaded by the time
:46:21. > :46:26.you get there. A nervous couple of months for Mark Williams. Let's look
:46:27. > :46:29.at a bit of analysis. It is still difficult to know who will be
:46:30. > :46:35.picking up the trophy in an hour, two hours, who knows! A bit of
:46:36. > :46:40.fortune for Judd Trump in this one. In the previous frame he was
:46:41. > :46:47.unfortunate with an enough, he put the remaining red into baulk. Here,
:46:48. > :46:52.he gets a bit fortunate. The bump on the middle pocket was butcher it is,
:46:53. > :46:59.because it made the last red more missable. As it was, it goes on
:47:00. > :47:06.behind the blue. Stuart escapes from the easy snooker, but he puts the
:47:07. > :47:12.red in the yellow pocket, and Judd Trump clears up. It is a seesaw.
:47:13. > :47:17.There has not been a 30 break in the last three frames, so if anybody can
:47:18. > :47:22.get their potting boots on, they can take it by the scruff of the neck.
:47:23. > :47:28.Get your potting boots on! Who has got them on?
:47:29. > :47:33.Judd Trump has them on on the long shots, but when he gets in, he is
:47:34. > :47:43.not winning the frame in one visit. And nor is Stuart now. No breaks of
:47:44. > :47:47.any strength in the last three games. There has not been a 40 break
:47:48. > :48:11.in the last three games, very bits and pieces.
:48:12. > :48:19.Another long pop. There has not been a break over 30 in the last three
:48:20. > :48:26.frames, that is how scrappy it has been. A little unlucky not to have
:48:27. > :48:33.some sort of shot on the blue or pink. Again, the safety is not
:48:34. > :48:37.straightforward, with the red being in baulk. He has to cover it with
:48:38. > :48:54.the yellow. You do not want to put the thing out
:48:55. > :49:02.of commission, you would like to leave it in play. I thought it had
:49:03. > :49:08.hit the yellow then for a minute. Yes, I think he did as well. As it
:49:09. > :49:15.is, it is not bad. He has forced Stuart Bingham into an attempt at
:49:16. > :49:24.the left corner. He will definitely play it if you can find the gap. He
:49:25. > :49:30.might feel it is too much of a risk at this stage of the match. He is
:49:31. > :49:38.faced with a very tricky safety as well. He could play the red that is
:49:39. > :49:44.nearest to the right corner and drop it in, or just played off the two
:49:45. > :49:49.cushions, leave the white there. He went for it wholeheartedly. The
:49:50. > :49:51.trouble is, even if he had made it, I do not think the pink or black
:49:52. > :50:12.went. Again, Judd Trump has lost the cue
:50:13. > :50:37.ball. It has become a little bit of a scrappy affair.
:50:38. > :50:45.He is one of those players that likes all of the big balls in play.
:50:46. > :50:52.He might like to bring pink and black into play. I was surprised he
:50:53. > :51:01.did not play to nudge the pink or black of the first red, rather than
:51:02. > :51:06.go up for the blue. Pink and black are now available. But he might have
:51:07. > :52:49.liked a bigger gap than that. He would have got away with that.
:52:50. > :53:05.But I think this red is onto the right centre. Not an easy starter.
:53:06. > :53:15.No problems, though, and he is nicely on the blue. We are going to
:53:16. > :53:25.have a player when a frame in one visit. It has not happened all
:53:26. > :53:34.evening. But these balls are spread far and wide. A great chance here
:53:35. > :53:44.for Stuart to score a frame-winning break. A lot of players may have
:53:45. > :53:45.rolled it into the middle, but Stuart punched it in and finished
:53:46. > :54:06.perfect on the blue. He would like to take the pink out
:54:07. > :54:14.of the way, could's because it is stopping the black potting into the
:54:15. > :54:16.corner. Judd Trump realises he could in a few minutes' time be one down
:54:17. > :54:31.with two to play. He looks to have the angle on the
:54:32. > :54:33.black to play for the red into the same pocket. He has got a nice
:54:34. > :54:46.angle. That is what he has played for. He
:54:47. > :54:53.could do with being fairly straight, and he is not. Work to do. If he
:54:54. > :54:57.screws it in, I did not know if he can avoid the kiss on the red that
:54:58. > :55:03.is loose. If he runs through, he will force reds all over the place,
:55:04. > :55:10.so he will not guarantee where the White will finish. Not ideal. Just
:55:11. > :55:20.has too avoid the kiss on the red above the white. Which he has not
:55:21. > :55:47.done. This is a lot more tricky than it should be.
:55:48. > :55:55.That is one of the better shots he has played for a couple of frames.
:55:56. > :56:15.Was not easy, begin down, playing with bottom right-hand side.
:56:16. > :56:22.He has got to get the pink out of the way. Still has a couple of loose
:56:23. > :56:37.reds. He played the deep screw to disturb
:56:38. > :56:48.the reds, he was not happy with that. You could see his reaction. He
:56:49. > :56:49.did not need to do that. Just did not quite get into the cue ball
:56:50. > :57:22.enough. Excellent recovery. The cue ball has
:57:23. > :57:26.travelled a fraction too far, but this is one of those where if you
:57:27. > :57:30.are confident, you put the black and flick off the outside of the pack. I
:57:31. > :57:55.think he will roll this in and avoid the inn off. Well played.
:57:56. > :58:04.He felt he was hitting it thin rather than thick.
:58:05. > :58:42.The magnificent arena, the crowds have been excellent all week. A
:58:43. > :58:46.little disappointed in terms of brick building in this match, but it
:58:47. > :58:59.has lots of tension, both players are feeling it out there.
:59:00. > :59:09.He would have been better off getting a red safe. But once again,
:59:10. > :59:15.the white nowhere near the baulk cushion. When you are playing Judd
:59:16. > :59:17.Trump, you need to get near the cushion possible, because the reds
:59:18. > :59:37.disappear more often than not. If you are chewing Indian hoping to
:59:38. > :59:43.watch Dragons Den, that will follow our coverage of the final. Dragons
:59:44. > :59:45.Den is delayed. Still waiting to see who will be given the cheque for
:59:46. > :59:57.?70,000 here in Cardiff. Stuart will be distraught at the
:59:58. > :00:02.last safety shot he played. He looked bemused, the way he played
:00:03. > :00:06.it. He was not expecting to make contact with the pack, and he was
:00:07. > :00:13.expecting the cue ball to finish near the baulk cushion. Both things
:00:14. > :00:15.went wrong. Maybe it is Stuart Bingham's turn to lose a frame from
:00:16. > :00:35.40 points in front. This was the shot from Stuart.
:00:36. > :00:47.Obviously, he's trying to get a good cue ball. The bad thing is, the
:00:48. > :00:53.white is nowhere near the cushion. He's thinking, I might as well of
:00:54. > :00:57.her other shot at the red into the other pocket. If it had gone in,
:00:58. > :01:02.probably would have sprung the frame. But has made sure this time
:01:03. > :01:11.he's the right side of the blue. If this goes right... He could be
:01:12. > :01:27.pinching this frame. And it hasn't. The cue ball as stock. He just hit
:01:28. > :01:35.the one red a little bit full in the face. He could have done with it
:01:36. > :01:46.half-ball and been able to come away from the cluster.
:01:47. > :02:22.Both players are feeling it's no. -- both players are feeling it now.
:02:23. > :02:30.He has pulled some gestures in the last couple of frames, Stuart. A
:02:31. > :02:40.little bit of frustration starting to show. It's not what Judd played.
:02:41. > :03:06.He IS on this black. I think he's one of the few players
:03:07. > :03:13.who would have the guts to play that shot at this stage of the match.
:03:14. > :03:19.Both players are struggling to play the screw back shot. Left himself
:03:20. > :03:45.hampered during. Cued it nicely. And he has become
:03:46. > :03:51.favourite to be one up with two to play. A few moments ago, we were
:03:52. > :03:59.saying exactly the same thing when Stuart Bingham was at the table.
:04:00. > :04:12.This, the key shot - how close can he get to this red to make it easy?
:04:13. > :04:17.Tried to get really close, and he may have over-screwed it a little
:04:18. > :04:29.bit. This is not as easy as it looks on the TV. He would have been a
:04:30. > :04:32.strong favourite to pot it. Still should pot it, but not
:04:33. > :04:40.straightforward. And there you see why. It's amazing what you can miss
:04:41. > :04:43.under pressure. But that was not about shot, it was the shot before,
:04:44. > :05:06.where he over-screwed the black. And obviously, this is not easy. The
:05:07. > :05:19.red to the right centre. He will be over the moon that he has got this
:05:20. > :05:24.opportunity at this red. Judd Trump has just not been able to get in
:05:25. > :05:28.front of Stuart Hunter liked. Every time he draws level, something
:05:29. > :05:38.happens, he goes one behind. And in goes the red. He's not quite on this
:05:39. > :05:39.brown in the way he's like. He might be able to run through with
:05:40. > :06:00.left-hand side. The only problem is, the green could
:06:01. > :06:11.go safe. Where will the greens and up? Well, he's played it quite
:06:12. > :06:14.nicely, but unfortunately for him, not nicely on the yellow. I think
:06:15. > :06:55.he'll be playing the snooker. He wanted to keep the yellow in
:06:56. > :07:07.play. You would have preferred that yellow to be in between the pink and
:07:08. > :07:14.black area. Looking at it, it is hard to hit. Green in the way one
:07:15. > :07:23.way, blue in the way the other way. I think he will have to play this
:07:24. > :07:29.two cushions. The only trouble is, then, Darren, leave the advantage to
:07:30. > :07:38.Stuart, to play the snooker in behind the black. It's very tricky.
:07:39. > :07:45.Yes, I think Judd Trump would be quite happy with that, if he hits
:07:46. > :07:54.the yellow leaves that shot on. This is very, very tricky. He doesn't
:07:55. > :07:59.want to be giving too many points away at this stage in the frame, but
:08:00. > :08:05.this is really tricky. We could see him giving away quite a few points.
:08:06. > :08:22.Yes, he's having to play off two cushions. Very well played.
:08:23. > :08:27.Excellent. And he has not left the chance to end up behind the black.
:08:28. > :08:33.Yes. He could have missed that four or five times. As it happens, that's
:08:34. > :09:05.about as good as he could have hoped for.
:09:06. > :09:15.It's amazing how Stuart lost the advantage with that excellent safety
:09:16. > :09:20.shot he played on the yellow. You would have to suggest, whoever pots
:09:21. > :09:22.the yellow is going to win this frame and go one up with two to
:09:23. > :09:52.play. Who will it be? Nearly got in behind the pink. I
:09:53. > :09:58.think we'll see Judd Trump definitely playing this yellow in
:09:59. > :10:03.the left corner. He could play it with loads of bottom and right-hand
:10:04. > :10:05.side, slow drag, or he can play it with pace.
:10:06. > :10:20.He needs to slide past the pink... And his body language is saying he
:10:21. > :10:29.has snookered himself. Either that or he can't get to the porting angle
:10:30. > :10:33.of the green. It's amazing what can happen in the game of snooker, isn't
:10:34. > :10:40.it? Plays your shot, tries to hold it. The table is so fast, it's hard
:10:41. > :10:50.to hold the ball at distance. In the olden days, on a thicker cloth, you
:10:51. > :10:54.could play it and finish somewhere near the blue spot. These days, it's
:10:55. > :10:58.very easy to lose the white, which he has done there. Where is this
:10:59. > :11:31.going to end up? Good shot. To be honest, it has not been the
:11:32. > :11:42.final I expected. He has left this on. Saying that, Judd is thinking it
:11:43. > :11:49.might have gone a bit past the porting angle there. From our
:11:50. > :12:05.position, it looks cuttable. Yes, it is a thin one, isn't it? No
:12:06. > :12:16.control over the cue ball, that's for sure. One of those, you have to
:12:17. > :12:26.hit it hard, because then you avoid the in-off. Well played. And
:12:27. > :12:35.absolutely perfect on the brown. Amazing. But he will need all his
:12:36. > :12:48.cue power here to get nicely on the blue.
:12:49. > :13:02.It's amazing, another inch of pace, it would have been a straightforward
:13:03. > :13:03.blue. Still needs the pink, though. It's there.
:13:04. > :13:23.Stuart Bingham started this frame with a break of 41. You can see what
:13:24. > :13:26.that meant to Judd Trump. He has gone into the lead for the very
:13:27. > :13:30.first time in the match. He's now one away from victory.
:13:31. > :13:39.Quite astonishing, isn't it? Considering that Stuart Bingham led
:13:40. > :13:48.4-0 early in this match. But we can see what that meant to Trump, taking
:13:49. > :13:55.the lead for the first time, what a relief that must be? Yes. These last
:13:56. > :13:58.four frames have thrown up all kinds of eccentricities, if you will.
:13:59. > :14:04.Interestingly, there's been two breaks over 30 in the last five
:14:05. > :14:11.frames, both of 41. So it shows, there's a lot of tactics, a lot of
:14:12. > :14:16.missed pots, but finally, after hours of trying, Judd Trump take the
:14:17. > :14:25.lead in the final furlong. Can he finish it off now what? I don't
:14:26. > :14:33.know, I wish I could tell you! How hard was it to play this? I can
:14:34. > :14:38.assure you, Judd did not intend to play this quite so thin. He would
:14:39. > :14:41.not have known he could have finished so nicely on the brown,
:14:42. > :14:49.that was more hope than judgment, I feel. He played a pretty good brown,
:14:50. > :14:54.I have to say. Fortunately the Judd, that cue ball just ran those extra
:14:55. > :15:00.few inches to leave the green on. Now, you would have to be backing
:15:01. > :15:09.Judd Trump? Would UCAS can you tell me! That was a really big setback
:15:10. > :15:14.for Stuart Bingham? Yes, it was. But maybe the pressure will now transfer
:15:15. > :15:22.to Judd. He has not won on home soil for about six years. There is a lot
:15:23. > :15:28.of pressure on both of them. Will it come down to the run of the ball,
:15:29. > :15:32.who knows? Judd is in the driving seat, but there is now pressure on
:15:33. > :15:41.him, and maybe Stuart Bingham can relax a bit. Keeping Stuart Bingham
:15:42. > :15:52.waiting just a bit longer. Drug instead will follow our coverage of
:15:53. > :16:03.the snooker here in Cardiff. -- Dragons' Den will follow. Stuart
:16:04. > :16:11.Bingham will be disappointed. He has lost those last few frames lately.
:16:12. > :16:13.Bring -- Stuart Bingham to break, then. Is there another twist in this
:16:14. > :16:30.magnificent 2017 final? What a green that was. He could try
:16:31. > :16:35.that 50 times again and not finish on that brown is good. And he slots
:16:36. > :16:42.in another long red. I've said it all week - his long potting has been
:16:43. > :16:48.unbelievable. And all of a sudden, he has struggled to score all week -
:16:49. > :16:57.could this be the frame that he finds his scoring? The one that he
:16:58. > :17:03.needs to win this year's Welsh Open? And as I've said that, he's a good
:17:04. > :17:08.foot short with the cue ball. You could see him talking the end of his
:17:09. > :17:16.cue tip very aggressively. And looking at this, he will do well to
:17:17. > :17:20.miss the case on the black - that's why he's playing with bottom, trying
:17:21. > :17:29.to make something happen. And it hasn't. The only problem for him is,
:17:30. > :17:36.he has put both black and pink out of commission. This is a similar
:17:37. > :17:42.shot to what begins played years ago, where he screwed it in and came
:17:43. > :17:48.back into the middle of the table, but it's very risky playing it over
:17:49. > :17:59.the pack of reds. He's playing it, though. That blue is not in. Neither
:18:00. > :18:05.player has played great this evening, it's been a little bit of a
:18:06. > :18:25.struggle out there. Even if that blue had gone in, Judd
:18:26. > :18:37.had left himself horrible on this red.
:18:38. > :18:46.He's just going to roll the red, there is no value for me in this.
:18:47. > :18:59.He's going to play safe. But that could have gone wrong. At least he
:19:00. > :19:14.can bring a peak colour back into play. I think on reflection, we
:19:15. > :19:17.probably deserve an 8-8, don't we? That would be nice - not for the
:19:18. > :19:33.players. He can play an aggressive shot here,
:19:34. > :19:39.to bring the black into play and get the cue ball as tight in behind the
:19:40. > :20:18.green and blue as possible. How is the cue ball...? Not quite.
:20:19. > :20:24.He's caught that a little bit thicker than he would have liked. No
:20:25. > :20:56.damage done, though. I say no damage done, what a clever
:20:57. > :21:10.shot he's played there. That was very well thought out. Absolutely.
:21:11. > :21:21.He's looking at the potting angle, to see whether he can pinch a little
:21:22. > :21:32.bit of the pocket. I thought the brown would have been a better
:21:33. > :21:37.choice there. Safety shortcomings. -- safety shot coming. You have to
:21:38. > :21:51.say, he deserves more than six Riise that fantastic red Henoch in. --
:21:52. > :22:01.more than six off that fantastic red he knocked in. Neither of these two
:22:02. > :22:09.have played anywhere near their best. Just past five hours of play.
:22:10. > :23:18.And we still don't know who is going to win.
:23:19. > :23:28.He can just see the edge of this red. Can get back to the baulk area?
:23:29. > :23:35.Just played what he thought was a short to nothing. He may be able to
:23:36. > :23:51.get through the gap to cut that red in. If it is printable, he'll take
:23:52. > :23:57.it on. There's someone at the moment having a bit of a coughing fit in
:23:58. > :24:03.the arena. She has stood up and composed herself. And that red has
:24:04. > :24:09.done everything but go in the pocket. And I don't think the blue
:24:10. > :24:17.is going to come to his rescue. Well, everybody's coughing now. They
:24:18. > :24:23.have started a trend out there. Pink and black out of commission, so Judd
:24:24. > :24:32.Trump will not expect Stuart to school too heavily. That's pretty
:24:33. > :24:41.good. Ideally he would like to get onto the middle of the three reds
:24:42. > :24:42.surrounding the black. He needs that black back in play if he's to have
:24:43. > :25:00.aspirations levelling at this visit. Another two inches of pace, he could
:25:01. > :25:11.have played the middle red of those three. You can just see, just a
:25:12. > :25:22.fraction away from being on it. Well, he feels he can still play it.
:25:23. > :25:31.What an effort that was. I've not to be honest, a little unlucky. Look at
:25:32. > :25:43.the side he has played that with to make pot.
:25:44. > :26:17.Another inch, there would have been no problem, he could have just
:26:18. > :26:25.screwed into the pack and played for the loose red. He could lose the
:26:26. > :26:26.white here... That was the problem, always going to lose the white
:26:27. > :27:00.playing it that way. He has actually left himself a with
:27:01. > :27:25.a tricky safety. The black back on its spot, you feel
:27:26. > :27:29.if he had been lucky there and got on something, that could have been
:27:30. > :27:40.the end of this frame. Got to be careful here.
:27:41. > :27:49.He's looking to get the cue ball down in the baulk area. Needs the
:27:50. > :28:10.white to be good... And it is. Stuart is having a look to see if
:28:11. > :28:11.the red near the pink spot goes into the corner. I think it's very, very
:28:12. > :28:32.tight, it would be a big ask. Can play it as a shot to nothing,
:28:33. > :28:56.though. Just got to miss the jaw of the middle pocket. That was close.
:28:57. > :29:14.Stuart has got to make sure he finds the baulk cushion here. This could
:29:15. > :29:19.be end of frame and match. This is the tempter that Judd's been waiting
:29:20. > :29:39.for. He just pots so many long balls -
:29:40. > :29:46.can he score heavily for the first time this evening and get past the
:29:47. > :29:52.winning line? Now, normally you would suggest the next five reds and
:29:53. > :29:56.colours are pretty straightforward, but not in this situation, the way
:29:57. > :30:37.they're both playing. There is her girlfriend, looking on.
:30:38. > :30:59.She knows this is a chance for him to win frame and match.
:31:00. > :31:09.The black will take him in front. He needs all the remaining reds. Three
:31:10. > :31:18.of them are not in favourable positions. This is the first break
:31:19. > :31:28.above 30 since frame 11. Can you believe that, with these players?
:31:29. > :31:32.That is for Judd Trump, I mean. Anything but straight here, Stuart
:31:33. > :31:40.Bingham knows he will possibly get back onto the table.
:31:41. > :31:56.He will play for the red in baulk next. That red is no problem. Can
:31:57. > :31:57.you believe it? You just do something would happen, the way
:31:58. > :32:20.things have gone. They are not easy across the
:32:21. > :32:28.cushion. Gave it every chance, played at the right pace. I am sure
:32:29. > :32:37.Stuart Bingham was thinking the championship was all over. All of a
:32:38. > :32:40.sudden, he has got another chance. Albeit not a great one. Still a lot
:32:41. > :33:11.of work to be done. Played that really well, and he has
:33:12. > :33:29.a nice angle on the blue to bring the red into play.
:33:30. > :33:41.Not enough cheque side. Will he attempt the pot? I think he will and
:33:42. > :33:43.run through to the black. This is to stay in the match or possibly lose
:33:44. > :33:49.it. Did not play the pot. Why did he not
:33:50. > :34:21.play the pot? He has lost the cue ball, but what a
:34:22. > :34:34.horrific long pot. -- terrific. He has left himself... A very positive
:34:35. > :34:40.player. He has a brown into the centre, which is horrible, but if it
:34:41. > :34:45.was to go in, it would guarantee him the tournament. But surely he would
:34:46. > :34:55.play safe. He would just roll onto the green, wouldn't he?
:34:56. > :35:03.If he plays the brown, I would be amazed.
:35:04. > :35:11.Stuart would hit the yellow, you would think, but surely he has to
:35:12. > :35:20.roll up to the green. I don't believe this. I thought he was!
:35:21. > :35:27.Played a very good safety shot, as it happens. Nothing wrong with that
:35:28. > :35:28.at all. Why he risked it, I don't know, because surely rolling onto
:35:29. > :35:53.the green would have been easier. A quirky one now. Does he put him
:35:54. > :36:00.back in? If he gets the right angle coming out of the snooker, he could
:36:01. > :36:10.stick the white behind the brown. He has elected to put him back in.
:36:11. > :36:18.Trying to come off the baulk cushion, catch it half ball, in
:36:19. > :36:19.behind the brown. Just making sure the balls are put on the right
:36:20. > :36:45.place. You could see where the tip of the
:36:46. > :36:52.cue was on that last shot. He will still play one cushion. He needs to
:36:53. > :37:01.hit it thin, get plenty of distance between cue ball and object ball.
:37:02. > :37:12.That is as good as anything. That is a bit of good fortune.
:37:13. > :37:19.That looks to be a yellow ball game. Judd Trump to win it, Stuart Bingham
:37:20. > :37:37.to stay in it. That is pretty good. The only thing that could go wrong
:37:38. > :37:43.the yellow make contact with the black. I am not sure if he has
:37:44. > :37:54.played it hard enough. A poor safety shot. Has he got the cover? He
:37:55. > :38:16.certainly has. That is fortunate, as he did not play that at all well.
:38:17. > :38:30.Similar scenario, you can stun it round... He did not want to kiss the
:38:31. > :39:01.black. Without the kiss on the black, he would have been snookered.
:39:02. > :39:09.Stuart Bingham at the minute is in control of this little mini safety
:39:10. > :39:13.battle. But there is a lot of tension out there. Everything must
:39:14. > :39:40.be looking hard to both players. He is having a little book. The
:39:41. > :39:48.black is close to the corner pocket. He is a bit far away... That is what
:39:49. > :40:06.he played. But it is a great shot. If someone would have told me the
:40:07. > :40:11.highest break in this session would have been 63, I would not have
:40:12. > :40:15.believed them, but it shows how much winning the Welsh Open means to both
:40:16. > :40:24.of them. They are both cueing all right, just cannot seem to score.
:40:25. > :40:27.That is an excellent safety shot. If the yellow makes contact with the
:40:28. > :40:35.brown on the way back, he could stick the yellow over the middle.
:40:36. > :40:47.Played this nicely. Very good. Played it well.
:40:48. > :41:11.He has pushed the brown close to the cushion.
:41:12. > :41:32.Did not fancy playing it the aggressive way. I thought he may
:41:33. > :41:52.have played it more confidently. He is worried about where the yellow
:41:53. > :42:00.will end up. He has to be worried that the yellow
:42:01. > :42:20.does not career into the green. You cannot impart any back spin. He
:42:21. > :42:26.is just playing the yellow up and down.
:42:27. > :43:00.That is as good as he could have done, I think.
:43:01. > :43:09.That is a real error. I do not think Stuart will have these put back,
:43:10. > :43:20.because the awkward pink is now off the side cushion. It is a ball that
:43:21. > :43:26.both players will now need. He could hit the ball -- the yellow from
:43:27. > :43:39.behind and send it up towards pink and green.
:43:40. > :43:51.A little unlucky, he played it nicely. Will he knock the yellow in
:43:52. > :43:56.and play the cannon onto the brown? If he takes the pot on, that is what
:43:57. > :43:58.people think. It is not an easy safety shot, he may have to play the
:43:59. > :44:24.pot. The double is dangerous, but if he
:44:25. > :44:30.gets it, he would be nicely on the green.
:44:31. > :44:40.Very straightforward to play white behind the green as well. He
:44:41. > :45:01.overheated. Both players are really struggling at the moment.
:45:02. > :45:13.A great bout of safety play. Neither player giving an inch.
:45:14. > :45:22.It is nice to see breaks made and fantastic pots, but it is nice to
:45:23. > :45:28.see the tactical side sometimes. It shows how much this game means to
:45:29. > :45:36.both players. He has played a very good shot there, he has used the
:45:37. > :45:37.green assay buffer. The only downside is the green has gone onto
:45:38. > :46:02.the side cushion. I think the brown has just come to
:46:03. > :46:18.block it getting through to the yellow. We might see him do a
:46:19. > :46:25.swerve. That was the problem. Judd Trump was very fortunate then. He
:46:26. > :46:32.will do well to win this game and match with this effort. Is it a free
:46:33. > :46:38.ball or can he hit both sides of the yellow? I know it is risky, but he
:46:39. > :46:39.could take the free Paul black and bring the green into play. But no
:46:40. > :46:54.free ball. He tried to lock the cue ball and
:46:55. > :47:03.get close to the green. Now this is really tough. He will have to play
:47:04. > :47:11.the part, there is no easy safety shot.
:47:12. > :47:18.He could not get a good cue ball. Still plenty of snooker left in this
:47:19. > :48:24.frame at this moment in time. He tried to be clever and getting
:48:25. > :48:34.behind the brown. The green has just gone far enough.
:48:35. > :48:45.He has played it well. Some great safety played in this frame.
:48:46. > :48:55.Not great overall, that stuck, but in this frame the percentage would
:48:56. > :49:06.have been around 90% each. But overall it is quite low.
:49:07. > :49:18.He has not made the green safe. Virtually impossible to get onto the
:49:19. > :49:26.brown. I don't see the value in taking the green on. The middle
:49:27. > :49:37.pocket is too thin. In the corner, it is not an easy part.
:49:38. > :50:19.I don't blame him for refusing the pot. It a clever shot.
:50:20. > :50:27.It will squeeze in off the black, but it is far too dangerous. He
:50:28. > :50:33.cannot hit it thin enough to miss the kiss of the blue, so he may hit
:50:34. > :50:39.a power stun and force it in off the black. If he plays it slow, he will
:50:40. > :50:49.not get it, but the harder he plays it, the more chance he has. He
:50:50. > :50:58.decided he cannot pot it. It is not easy to get safe. If he plays the
:50:59. > :51:00.green up and down, he has to get it tight to the baulk cushion. He might
:51:01. > :51:19.have to play the pot. He cannot avoid the kiss on the
:51:20. > :51:20.blue. If he plays it up and down, the greenhouse to finish the baulk
:51:21. > :51:33.cushion. What a clever shot. Well played.
:51:34. > :52:09.Very, very good. Has not quite caught that right. I
:52:10. > :52:16.think you can go for this green and just missed the pink. He just have
:52:17. > :52:22.to make sure he does not get too much of the cue ball. It will be a
:52:23. > :52:33.stun with left-hand side. It will be tight to cannon into the pink.
:52:34. > :52:46.That was the only trouble with that shot. He wants brown and blue. Will
:52:47. > :52:52.he think it is worth a risk on the double, leave a long blue? Or a good
:52:53. > :53:15.safety? You can tell he is itching to play
:53:16. > :53:39.the double, but it does not look to be the right shot.
:53:40. > :53:47.I never thought we would be here at 11pm with this match still going on.
:53:48. > :53:51.These two attacking players have really struggled in the
:53:52. > :53:58.break-building department, every frame has taken over 20 minutes this
:53:59. > :54:06.evening. The last -- this is 37 and counting. Did not expect that from
:54:07. > :54:10.these two great players. It shows how much this tournament means to
:54:11. > :54:14.them. They are playing for the trophy, not for money. Very
:54:15. > :54:16.dangerous to play it towards the corner pocket, but he has played it
:54:17. > :55:14.well. It was a great hit, but he has left
:55:15. > :55:21.the brown. It is not easy. Mid distance.
:55:22. > :55:27.He could play the run-through of the baulk cushion, or with power of two
:55:28. > :55:41.cushions. I don't think he will be able to
:55:42. > :55:46.move the pink, but he will be able to put the blue and leave himself a
:55:47. > :55:59.nice angle is a double for the pink into right centre. It is all about
:56:00. > :56:01.the blue. He has got the right side, so he can play the pink as a shock
:56:02. > :56:12.to nothing. There is the pink. The black is over
:56:13. > :56:42.the whole. You have not got to get to work to
:56:43. > :56:47.early tomorrow, I hope! People are saying on social media they want to
:56:48. > :56:52.get to bed, but they are gripped. If this one of the great Welsh Open
:56:53. > :56:58.finals? My fiance has got to drive to work after this! It is a
:56:59. > :57:04.fantastic match. It shows you do not have to see centuries, frame-winning
:57:05. > :57:09.breaks. There has hardly been any 40 breaks, it just shows, even though
:57:10. > :57:16.these frames are averaging 30 minutes, it is gripping stuff. I am
:57:17. > :57:21.a professional player, I have played for 25 years, I am enthralled. This
:57:22. > :57:30.was a wonderful clearance from Stuart Bingham at the end.
:57:31. > :57:41.The brown was a good one. If he had pleaded with any more pace, it would
:57:42. > :57:46.have been less comfortable. He knows that if he can part the blue, and
:57:47. > :57:56.get a double on the pink, the black is waiting. If the blue wobbles...
:57:57. > :58:01.That was a great pressure pot. He knows if the double does not go in,
:58:02. > :58:06.it could cost him the championship. You will see the fist pump, he knows
:58:07. > :58:15.the pink is approaching the pocket. The black is waiting for him, and it
:58:16. > :58:20.is 8-8. He clears up with the black. It was a wonderful clearance,
:58:21. > :58:24.bearing in mind that Judd Trump was potentially close to seeing this
:58:25. > :58:28.match out and lifting the trophy. The colours the way they were, for
:58:29. > :58:35.quite a while the brown was awkwardly positioned, and then the
:58:36. > :58:40.pink became dislodged, the brown seemed to be the frame and match
:58:41. > :58:48.ball. Both had a couple of chances in the final frame. But now, 8-8,
:58:49. > :58:53.who is your money on? That is a difficult question to answer.
:58:54. > :58:58.Dragons Den will follow our coverage of an absolutely absorbing 2017
:58:59. > :59:03.Welsh Open. A final handshake, we are into the final frame. What will
:59:04. > :59:11.happen? Anyone's guess. I cannot agree anymore. He has left
:59:12. > :59:15.a shock to nothing on, so he has not broken off early. Is this the time
:59:16. > :59:24.for Stuart Bingham to knock in a long one? Plenty of room around the
:59:25. > :59:28.back of the black stop the only problem is the red to the right of
:59:29. > :59:39.the pink, he does not want to cannon into that.
:59:40. > :00:00.It has been one of those games. Some fabulous long pots, but neither of
:00:01. > :00:01.them could get onto a colour. This has got a black ball game written
:00:02. > :00:21.all over it. That was a nervy one. He wants to
:00:22. > :00:57.play the stun shot. His long game, we keep saying it,
:00:58. > :01:05.unbelievable. How many long pots he has knocked in, but not managed to
:01:06. > :01:10.win frames from them. This is a chance to get A40 point lid, and
:01:11. > :01:12.normally you would say that is not enough, but the way they're playing
:01:13. > :01:38.this evening, it could be. -- to get a 40-point lead. When their playing
:01:39. > :01:52.days screw shots, the white seems to be skidding, it's not biting.
:01:53. > :01:59.One more good pot, and he could have the chance to score heavily. But the
:02:00. > :02:23.pressure is on now, anything is missable.
:02:24. > :02:30.Well, that was well controlled. Now, can he get through the gap to that
:02:31. > :02:52.red left of the black. Just coming to see if it is possible.
:02:53. > :03:00.The way he's walking round, it tells me that's perfect. Under normal
:03:01. > :03:07.circumstances, we would be saying this is a chance of frame and match.
:03:08. > :03:13.But I'm reluctant to say that, because neither player has scored a
:03:14. > :03:54.frame-winning break or even in. -- all evening.
:03:55. > :04:06.I think what you would say is, all match, if anybody WAS going to score
:04:07. > :04:20.a tidy break, it would be Stuart. Two reds out in the open. The pink
:04:21. > :04:28.is in the way, really, for him to get on the blue to go into the
:04:29. > :04:35.cluster of reds. So he will have to do it off the black, or even maybe
:04:36. > :04:38.the pink. I would imagine in his career, Judd Trump has not played
:04:39. > :04:50.eight frames of snooker with a highest break of 48. And he has won
:04:51. > :04:54.five of the eight frames. Just having a chuckle with his friend
:04:55. > :05:07.there, who drove him down here from Devon.
:05:08. > :05:19.Did he play for the black or the pink, I'm not sure? I can only
:05:20. > :05:26.presume he has played to leave a half-ball black, but slightly
:05:27. > :05:34.overhit it. He was going to the pack this time, he'll play for the loose
:05:35. > :05:41.red. Oh, he's missed that I am I'll. Well, both players are bemused now!
:05:42. > :05:57.And as we've always said, under pressure, you can miss anything.
:05:58. > :06:10.Well, this one has been back and forth all night. And that was a
:06:11. > :06:13.little bit of a twitchy one as well. I think he was frightened of
:06:14. > :06:40.overhitting it. Off the cushion, left-hand side, and
:06:41. > :06:48.trying to disturb the five reds below the pink... That's what he's
:06:49. > :06:51.done. He has caught the reds, but way too thin. That was a great
:06:52. > :07:13.opportunity. It's amazing, that neither player
:07:14. > :07:21.can kill a frame off in one visit. I mentioned earlier, it was going to
:07:22. > :07:58.be a black ball game - nothing has persuaded me otherwise at a moment!
:07:59. > :08:06.In 2013, Stuart Bingham was in the final against Stephen Maguire, and
:08:07. > :08:21.that went full distance, with Stuart Bingham losing it, 9-8. Is he going
:08:22. > :08:28.to win this one? Could have played safe off the pack then, but he would
:08:29. > :08:32.have been opening the reds. He just fade containing safety shot, wasn't
:08:33. > :08:40.gaining great advantage with that shot, but he didn't want to open the
:08:41. > :08:52.reds. He's trying to leave Judd to do that. So, he's forced Judd into
:08:53. > :08:53.opening the balls. That was the problem, that's why Stuart didn't
:08:54. > :09:13.want to play that shot. He has played plenty of pressure
:09:14. > :09:15.shots in the last couple of years, being the world number two. This
:09:16. > :09:40.will be up there with one of those. Very well played indeed! What an
:09:41. > :09:45.excellent pot that was. They don't come more high pressure than that.
:09:46. > :10:04.Now, then, once again we talk about normally, these
:10:05. > :10:11.five reds and colours would be a certainty. But not this evening.
:10:12. > :10:20.He's trying to get top side of the blue. Anywhere near that, there's no
:10:21. > :10:25.problem with the next shot. I suppose the only thing which could
:10:26. > :10:32.go wrong would be that he could over-stun it and go into the middle.
:10:33. > :10:37.Well, Stuart, you've worked very hard in this match, you've struggled
:10:38. > :11:22.this evening, but this is now a great chance to win frame and match.
:11:23. > :11:39.He's only a couple of shots away. And this is still not
:11:40. > :11:46.straightforward. He's going to need that red nearest the cushion in this
:11:47. > :11:54.effort if he wants to win the frame and match. A confident Stuart
:11:55. > :11:58.Bingham would be rolling this red in and finishing on the black. It
:11:59. > :12:02.should be an easy pot, but the way the game has gone this evening, he
:12:03. > :12:15.might just try and play with the pink.
:12:16. > :12:24.It was a lot more awkward to play for the pink than the black, but the
:12:25. > :12:35.black might have been a twitchy one at this stage of the match. 16 point
:12:36. > :12:46.lid, the think will be 22. So, as Darren said, he will be needing that
:12:47. > :12:53.red which is on the side. I was wondering whether he could flick the
:12:54. > :12:59.red into play, but that's too risky. He needs a nice angle on the next
:13:00. > :13:03.colour to have a chance at the last red, which in turn could win him the
:13:04. > :13:11.frame and match. Well, he HAS played to move it, he has taken a risk. And
:13:12. > :13:16.he's played it very nicely indeed. The blue puts him 28 in front, the
:13:17. > :13:21.red will mean snookers required for Judd Trump. One more good positional
:13:22. > :13:32.shot, and Stuart Bingham could be the Welsh Open champion.
:13:33. > :13:47.He played it off two cautions and nearly missed the blue! This, for
:13:48. > :14:06.the Welsh Open Championship. Well, he lost the last final he
:14:07. > :14:10.played in, 9-8, to Stephen Maguire. It looks now, though, that he has
:14:11. > :14:14.won this one, against Judd Trump. The standard hasn't been great - the
:14:15. > :14:22.tension has been tremendous. Some unbelievable pots played by these
:14:23. > :14:25.two players triple but no big break. I could never, ever think that these
:14:26. > :14:30.two players would not make a break above 60. Judd Trump will be very,
:14:31. > :14:39.very disappointed. Fought so hard from 4-0 down to get back into the
:14:40. > :14:48.match, he trailed by 5-3 and lead for the first time at 7-6. But
:14:49. > :14:55.Stuart Bingham has just proved the stronger. He'll be absolutely
:14:56. > :15:00.delighted. It wasn't the greatest final, but we saw everything - two
:15:01. > :15:05.great young players battling very, very hard, and in the end, it is
:15:06. > :15:29.Stuart Bingham who comes through the victor. He wins by 9-8!
:15:30. > :15:36.Well, ladies and gentlemen, what an absolutely thrilling, absorbing
:15:37. > :15:41.final. There can only be one winner, but a word with the magnificent
:15:42. > :15:46.runner-up. Judd, from 4-0 down, you showed great spirit to take this all
:15:47. > :15:52.the way? Yes, it was tough, I missed a few chances early on, I kind of
:15:53. > :16:00.throat away in the first four frames, really. On the whole, I did
:16:01. > :16:04.well to get back into it. But it was just the odd shot here and there
:16:05. > :16:09.which cost me. You have entertained this week, as you always do, but as
:16:10. > :16:12.you demonstrated tonight, you've got mental strength and your game is
:16:13. > :16:18.continuing to go in the right direction? Yes. It's good to get to
:16:19. > :16:25.the final. I didn't really play how I would like, but I think Stuart has
:16:26. > :16:29.done exceptionally well. Being World Champion, he had a bit of pressure,
:16:30. > :16:36.but now it looks like he's back to his best, and present a
:16:37. > :16:42.well-deserved winner. Lovely words. It has been a good run, and you had
:16:43. > :16:46.massive support here, not just from the locals, but from over the, which
:16:47. > :16:50.in Bristol, and you have put a great show one for your home fans? Yes,
:16:51. > :16:53.I've had excellent support and I want to thank everyone for
:16:54. > :16:59.supporting me. And finally, you have said you wanted to win reefed this
:17:00. > :17:03.season. You have got the European Masters, and there is a big one
:17:04. > :17:08.coming up at the end of April? Yes. Hopefully it can be my year. I think
:17:09. > :17:14.I'm ready now more than ever. Hopefully it's my time. A gallant
:17:15. > :17:30.runner-up, ladies and gentlemen, Judd Trump! Stuart, is there a tear
:17:31. > :17:35.in the eye? Mate, the Welsh Open is where it all started, the very first
:17:36. > :17:40.ranking event you qualified for in 1999. And here you are, it took you
:17:41. > :17:48.two goes, but this time it's yours? Yes, unbelievable. I honestly felt
:17:49. > :17:52.that Judd outclassed me from the word go, really. It was only from
:17:53. > :17:58.his mistake that I cleared up and won. For yes, every time I broke
:17:59. > :18:04.off, other than one, I think he knocked the ball in, so I didn't
:18:05. > :18:12.know what to do. I tried to put him safe, I just didn't know what to do.
:18:13. > :18:16.Got a bit of run of the balls at the right time, and I can't believe it.
:18:17. > :18:23.The crowd has been brilliant all week, great support. And obviously,
:18:24. > :18:27.just unbelievable. Seven or eight years ago, Stuart, you might not
:18:28. > :18:32.have had the composure to come through goal like this - your game
:18:33. > :18:38.has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years? Yes. Obviously,
:18:39. > :18:42.I think from winning that first ranking event down in Australia, it
:18:43. > :18:48.just gives you that self-belief. And obviously, to win the ultimate IS
:18:49. > :18:54.the ultimate. You don't care what you do then, you know you're good
:18:55. > :19:01.enough to withstand any sort of pressure. Did not feel it then,
:19:02. > :19:11.but...! Yes. I thought it was not going to be my day. But yes, come
:19:12. > :19:15.through the decider and keep myself together, obviously... What does it
:19:16. > :19:19.mean to you to finish on top again, because it has been awhile since The
:19:20. > :19:23.Crucible, and he really wanted to prove to people that you can do it
:19:24. > :19:27.again and you still belong at the top? Yes. I've been knocking on the
:19:28. > :19:32.door since about October time. I've been playing pretty well. And I
:19:33. > :19:43.thought it weren't going to happen there. But hats off to Judd,
:19:44. > :19:47.unbelievable, from 4-0 down, a a lot of people might have crumbled, but
:19:48. > :19:51.he took the game to meet. And I think he outclassed me in all
:19:52. > :19:55.departments. To get my hands on another trophy, it means everything.
:19:56. > :20:01.And you had a new addition to the family this year, so you have won a
:20:02. > :20:07.title for your daughter? Yes. And she is here as well somewhere.
:20:08. > :20:11.Upstairs! Obviously, my wife, shipped surprised me, she said she
:20:12. > :20:15.would not be able to come up, but she has come up with some friends.
:20:16. > :20:23.It was a great surprise. And obviously, I thought it was going to
:20:24. > :20:31.be, a bit like four years ago, when my son came up. Obviously, now with
:20:32. > :20:36.this new Dave Reed and trophy, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
:20:37. > :20:38.And what a moment, to be handed that trophy by the six time World
:20:39. > :20:45.Champion. And I noticed when I was doing the introductions, you
:20:46. > :21:00.applauded Ray as you were waiting to come down? To write, he's a living
:21:01. > :21:08.legend. -- too right. We haven't got that many six time world champions
:21:09. > :21:14.in our game, and he's probably one reason why a lot of players are
:21:15. > :21:19.playing today, and Welsh supporters well. I am honoured to be getting a
:21:20. > :21:23.trophy off him. Well, Stuart, you have worked so, so hard for this,
:21:24. > :21:27.you've waited such a long time to win the Welsh Open. Many
:21:28. > :21:37.congratulations, enjoy the celebrations tonight. Your champion,
:21:38. > :21:46.ladies and gentlemen. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your
:21:47. > :21:53.presentation party, the head of PR at Coral, and the six time World
:21:54. > :21:58.Champion, Ray Reardon! The runner-up, receiving the silver
:21:59. > :22:00.medal and a cheque for ?30,000, what a week, ladies and gentlemen, for
:22:01. > :22:21.Judd Trump! And after two decades of trying to
:22:22. > :22:23.win this one, your victor, receiving the cheque for ?70,000, the Ray
:22:24. > :22:32.Reardon Trophy, it's Stuart Bingham! Ladies and gentlemen, your champion,
:22:33. > :23:12.Stuart Bingham! Well, what a very, very special
:23:13. > :23:17.moment for Stuart Egan Spassky receives the trophy from the legend
:23:18. > :23:20.of the Welsh game and the six time world charm and Ray Reardon. And how
:23:21. > :23:25.pleased does he look to get his hands on that new Welsh Open trophy?
:23:26. > :23:33.His first writing title since that World Championships win in 2015, the
:23:34. > :23:35.first time that he's won here at the Welsh Open. Dominic Dale, special
:23:36. > :23:41.night for Stuart Bingham? Yes, absolutely. What a magnificent final
:23:42. > :23:47.between these two guys. When Judd Trump pulled it back to all square
:23:48. > :23:51.at the interval, I could not pick a winner and I don't think anybody
:23:52. > :23:54.could. Have had so many great finals here at the Welsh Open, and that was
:23:55. > :23:59.another one. Graduations to Stuart, wonderful achievement, he's still
:24:00. > :24:04.one of the most consistent players on the tour. Quick word on Judd
:24:05. > :24:09.Trump? Great player, very exciting player, and I'm sure this will give
:24:10. > :24:14.him confidence for the rest of the season, and he will be a threat for
:24:15. > :24:17.the World Championships. Stuart's wife will be delighted as well, with
:24:18. > :24:22.the new addition to the family as well? Yes. If he has any more
