:00:35. > :00:39.Hello, everyone. The quarter-finals of this here's world champ venture

:00:39. > :00:43.ball well under way. Proceedings began this morning with all eyes

:00:43. > :00:47.are fixed on a man at making an incredible 19th performance in the

:00:47. > :00:57.last eight of this tournament. He has lifted the title on seven

:00:57. > :00:59.

:00:59. > :01:03.occasions. We all know who I am Stephen Hendry has beaten Jimmy

:01:03. > :01:08.White to become the youngest ever champion. For my career has been

:01:08. > :01:11.littered with so many memories of this place. Steve and Hendry

:01:12. > :01:17.finishes off as he started, a magnificent finish -- Stephen

:01:17. > :01:27.Hendry. I did almost take for granted winning here for a time in

:01:27. > :01:32.the 90s. The 7th time in the 90s... I think the place belongs to me,

:01:32. > :01:35.the trophy belongs to me. The last time was 1999, I have been a long

:01:35. > :01:41.time without winning but I have been a long time without winning

:01:41. > :01:47.anywhere. People say it is not the winning, it is the taking part. I

:01:47. > :01:51.have never heard so much nonsense. It is about winning. If you are a

:01:51. > :01:57.true sporting animal, like I am, all through my career I have wanted

:01:57. > :02:02.to win and if I don't, I am devastated. Even now, it is hard to

:02:02. > :02:06.watch two other people be in the final. Over time, it gets better,

:02:06. > :02:16.because it has been a long time since I have been in the final. It

:02:16. > :02:17.

:02:17. > :02:27.gets easier as the years go by. This year has been different in the

:02:27. > :02:27.

:02:27. > :02:31.fact that I have just been, you know, one of the others. I have

:02:31. > :02:36.sort of put myself through the qualifiers in the mind set of just

:02:36. > :02:39.trying to win the matches, because it is tough to get motivated,

:02:39. > :02:43.because normally the only people watching are two or three people

:02:43. > :02:47.and normally the family of your opponent who had come to support

:02:47. > :02:53.them on their big day. Without trying to disrespected, it is not a

:02:53. > :02:59.big day for me, I'm just trying to survive the match -- disrespect it.

:02:59. > :03:03.By and still very competitive. I don't have the winning form to back

:03:03. > :03:07.up any stronger claims to say to everybody I can win this, but I am

:03:07. > :03:12.still hugely competitive and I still expect great things from

:03:12. > :03:16.myself. As you can see when I play in matches. When I don't make a

:03:16. > :03:19.century break and I break down on 80, I am still really disappointed.

:03:19. > :03:26.I want to clear the table every time and I still expect high

:03:26. > :03:31.standards. I find myself here in the quarter-finals for the first

:03:31. > :03:36.time in a few years. The incentive to try and get to that one-table

:03:36. > :03:38.situation again. But I have a great opponent in the way in Stephen

:03:38. > :03:43.Maguire who will fancy his chances to certainly go on and challenge

:03:43. > :03:49.for the title. We will both be desperate to win. The good thing

:03:49. > :03:59.will be a Scotsman in the semi- final of for sure.

:03:59. > :04:18.

:04:18. > :04:22.What on earth was that? He has That is good cueing. That is a very

:04:22. > :04:32.special shot. That is one of the best I have seen in this

:04:32. > :04:34.

:04:34. > :04:39.I don't understand that, that is incredible. Everybody misses pots,

:04:39. > :04:47.but I didn't think he would miss that one. It is 4-0, Stephen

:04:48. > :04:57.Maguire. Have a look at that for a shot. Stephen Maguire marches on in

:04:58. > :05:06.

:05:06. > :05:16.this match. Stephen Hendry's woes That will be a relief, that red

:05:16. > :05:17.

:05:17. > :05:27.dropping it in. Stephen Maguire has a very big lead,

:05:27. > :05:29.7-1, after the first of three I have been joined by the 1991

:05:29. > :05:32.champion John Parrott. It has often champion John Parrott. It has often

:05:32. > :05:37.been said that you cannot afford to give your opponent easy chances,

:05:37. > :05:42.but you can't afford to waste them either. Absolutely, he didn't get a

:05:42. > :05:45.foothold in the match. He played a few blacks shots, but the third one

:05:45. > :05:48.few blacks shots, but the third one was the one, he was clearing up and

:05:48. > :05:54.had a chance to the pink in the corner pocket and he has cued right

:05:55. > :06:02.across. It has not even hit the jaws. One minute, you look like he

:06:02. > :06:05.will be 2-1 behind and then it is 3-0. Is this deficit

:06:05. > :06:11.insurmountable? It is unlikely he will come back but he definitely

:06:11. > :06:15.has to win the session. Even if he draws it, he has to win. It is

:06:15. > :06:19.going to need a bit of vintage Stephen Hendry. But the other

:06:19. > :06:25.quarter-final tonight is Ryan Day and Matthew Stevens and Ryan Day is

:06:25. > :06:30.leading that. Let's join Rob Walker to welcome them out. Ladies and

:06:30. > :06:33.gentlemen, we really are getting towards the business end of this

:06:33. > :06:41.year's World Snooker Championship. The second session of this quarter-

:06:41. > :06:46.finals, where two more players will close in on the one-table set-up.

:06:46. > :06:49.Please welcome a player who has produced his best snooker for years

:06:49. > :06:54.in this championship. He and his opponent traded centuries this

:06:54. > :07:00.morning in a bid for the advantage. Three times a ranking event

:07:00. > :07:07.finalist and bidding for his first Crucible semi-final. Back in the

:07:07. > :07:17.bedtime and loving it, are Ryan Day -- back in the big time.

:07:17. > :07:23.

:07:23. > :07:29.And his opponent, a player very much enjoying his best run here for

:07:29. > :07:34.five years. Now back among us the game's elite, twice a finalist in

:07:34. > :07:40.20021005, he has knocked out Marco Fu and Barry Hawkins and took the

:07:40. > :07:50.last frame of the first session. The Welsh Dragon, Matthew Stevens.

:07:50. > :08:01.

:08:01. > :08:08.And on table one, please welcome the most successful player in

:08:08. > :08:12.history. He won his first title here 22 years ago. This is his 19th

:08:12. > :08:17.Crucible quarter-final. Winner of 36 ranking event title, he will

:08:17. > :08:26.draw on all of his vast experience tonight. Seven-times a winner, the

:08:26. > :08:33.king of the Crucible, Stephen Hendry.

:08:33. > :08:43.APPLAUSE MUSIC: "Get the Message" by

:08:43. > :08:50.

:08:50. > :08:54.Bidding for his second appearance the Crucible semi-final, he has

:08:54. > :08:58.knocked out Luca Brecel and Joe Perry so far. Winner of four

:08:58. > :09:02.ranking event title, when he is on good, he it -- when he is good he

:09:02. > :09:12.is on fire, here comes Stephen Maguire.

:09:12. > :09:14.

:09:14. > :09:17.MUSIC: "Here I Go Again" by We will be keeping you up to date

:09:17. > :09:21.with the actions between Ryan Day and Matthew Stevens but we are

:09:21. > :09:27.ready for the start of session two between Stephen Hendry and Stephen

:09:27. > :09:37.Maguire. Let's join Neal Foulds and John Virgo in the commentary box.

:09:37. > :09:44.

:09:44. > :09:48.Berger Macro thank you, good JOHN VIRGO: Good evening, thank you

:09:48. > :09:51.everybody. The old saying is that you cannot win it in the first

:09:51. > :09:57.session but you can go a long way to losing it.

:09:58. > :10:04.NEAL FOULDS: Stephen Maguire was getting stronger as it went on and

:10:04. > :10:07.it was a good job they started when they did. Tonight is a different

:10:07. > :10:16.occasion and I am sure Stephen Hendry will play better than he has

:10:16. > :10:22.been. Just the potting successful Stephen, 80%. -- success for

:10:22. > :10:32.Stephen. That wouldn't be good enough to win an amateur event. He

:10:32. > :10:48.

:10:48. > :10:58.has won over the pocket he can cut He didn't want be kiss on the red.

:10:58. > :11:12.

:11:12. > :11:20.Anyone could miss that shot at the start of a match, it isn't a

:11:21. > :11:24.continuation of what we saw this I think the problem with Stephen,

:11:24. > :11:28.and we have seen in this championship, that his best form is

:11:28. > :11:32.just about good enough. His break- building and scoring his tremendous

:11:32. > :11:41.but he will have the odd bad session that he wouldn't have done

:11:41. > :11:46.I suppose that is just an age factor. We saw it with Steve Davis,

:11:46. > :11:53.when he went from being the greatest player we had ever seen to

:11:53. > :12:02.a very good one. Yes, it is the consistency, really, isn't it? As

:12:02. > :12:05.you say, Stephen produced some first -- excellent they get in his

:12:05. > :12:09.first-round match. To be honest, he didn't have to do much in his

:12:09. > :12:16.second-round match against an out- of-sorts John Higgins. The first

:12:16. > :12:19.session in this is one he will want A little shake of the head from

:12:19. > :12:29.Stephen Maguire, so not a perfect angle on the black to disturb the

:12:29. > :12:31.

:12:31. > :12:37.If he is not on one to the corner, he is very unlucky. I think he may

:12:37. > :12:43.be very unlucky. I wonder if there is another red that might go. The

:12:43. > :12:53.two on the left are covering each other. That one does go. It is not

:12:53. > :12:58.

:12:58. > :13:04.straightforward to get on a colour, Nicely on it and in potting that,

:13:04. > :13:09.opened them up a bit more. Playing off the cushion, you are going to

:13:09. > :13:19.get lots of top spin and he would have been very unlucky to have not

:13:19. > :13:30.

:13:30. > :13:32.Everyone has been speaking about the match with Neil Robertson and

:13:32. > :13:38.Ronnie O'Sullivan and one or two other players, Judd Trump now that

:13:38. > :13:48.he is out, always thought of a winner. -- as a winner. A few

:13:48. > :13:48.

:13:48. > :13:53.people have forgotten about Stephen He has not won a ranking tournament

:13:53. > :13:58.this season but I am not sure how that has happened. He lost narrowly

:13:58. > :14:02.to Ronnie O'Sullivan in Germany and only a few weeks ago, lost by the

:14:02. > :14:12.odd frame to Peter Ebdon in the China Open, so he has been so close

:14:12. > :14:12.

:14:12. > :14:22.to winning something. He is one of He has been very consistent and he

:14:22. > :14:38.

:14:38. > :14:44.He played some stunning shot earlier on, very aggressive shot. -

:14:44. > :14:54.- stunning shots. I have seen him play better, but at times he was

:14:54. > :15:02.

:15:02. > :15:08.I think he can get through to this red in the left corner. There is

:15:08. > :15:18.one to the right corner but he would be using the rest for that.

:15:18. > :15:28.With this one, he is going to have He played it well. Nicely on the

:15:28. > :15:40.

:15:40. > :15:43.He turned this red down to the right corner previously because he

:15:43. > :15:47.had to use the rest, but it was only the potting angle that what

:15:47. > :15:57.potting him off. It is a bit straighter now. He can play for the

:15:57. > :16:28.

:16:29. > :16:34.I reckon he played the cannon, but having missed the cannon, he has

:16:34. > :16:41.got the one just above it. I reckon he played to hit it that red beyond

:16:41. > :16:51.the other one. I think you are right. This is a thin one and he is

:16:51. > :16:53.

:16:53. > :17:01.not certain where the cue ball is Well, he was able to avoid the kiss

:17:01. > :17:11.on the second red. It wasn't as big a problem as I first thought. Well,

:17:11. > :17:26.

:17:26. > :17:36.he did kiss a second red, but it Three more reds will be more than

:17:36. > :17:52.

:17:52. > :17:58.He hit it too well in the end, got too much on it. I have seen players

:17:58. > :18:02.sometimes after a session like this morning trying to get motivated for

:18:02. > :18:07.the second session of a match like this, but it doesn't seem to me

:18:07. > :18:17.that Stephen Maguire has got that problem. He looks right into this.

:18:17. > :18:22.

:18:22. > :18:29.The other thing was, he was always going a bit close to the blue

:18:29. > :18:33.itself, so not a huge margin of error. However, it is not bad.

:18:33. > :18:38.has had a close look at the three reds below the pink, wondering

:18:38. > :18:42.whether the bottom one will go to the left corner. But he can't be

:18:42. > :18:52.sure, because if he is playing the blue, he can't get to the right-

:18:52. > :18:56.

:18:56. > :18:59.That is nice. He may be a little unlucky that the black doesn't go

:18:59. > :19:04.into the left-hand corner. But I don't think it will bother him too

:19:04. > :19:08.much, it looks like he has got a nice angle on the red. If the black

:19:08. > :19:18.will go in the left corner, position is automatic. We will soon

:19:18. > :19:27.

:19:27. > :19:37.This black will put him 60 points in front with 67 remaining, so this

:19:37. > :19:44.

:19:44. > :19:54.and one more red is all that is Is there a plant on here? There is

:19:54. > :19:57.

:19:57. > :20:04.That was a handy thing to appear in front of his very eyes. Yes, up

:20:04. > :20:07.until now, I have not seen a ball hit the jaws yet. So near the

:20:08. > :20:13.middle of the pocket, it is untrue. That is what he was like for the

:20:13. > :20:16.most part of this morning, with a pot success of 94%. There were one

:20:16. > :20:21.or two moments when you thought that Stephen Hendry had a chance

:20:21. > :20:28.but he didn't take them. Other than that, Stephen Maguire will be happy

:20:28. > :20:34.with his game. He potted the blue, he was the wrong side of it, so he

:20:34. > :20:44.couldn't get near the next red. Nothing to pot, 66 points in front

:20:44. > :20:49.

:20:49. > :20:59.Two snookers required for Stephen. Stephen Hendry concedes, so Stephen

:20:59. > :21:02.

:21:02. > :21:06.Stephen Hendry has now entered the Nigel Bond-Dennis Taylor territory

:21:06. > :21:10.for comebacks, John. Yes, and the worst thing possible to happen, he

:21:10. > :21:14.ended up on the blue in the first frame and if you want to get your

:21:14. > :21:18.confidence up, you have to knock the somewhere close, but he gets

:21:18. > :21:21.this so poorly. Once again, it doesn't threaten and Stephen

:21:21. > :21:25.Maguire, the form he is in, it doesn't look like he will miss

:21:25. > :21:29.anything. That is the one thing that will be depressing Stephen

:21:29. > :21:34.Hendry more than anything else, that Stephen Maguire is taking

:21:34. > :21:37.every opportunity that he gets. he is to get back into this, he is

:21:37. > :21:41.to play as well as he cannon get some help from his opponent and

:21:41. > :21:44.Stephen Maguire has got stronger as the tournament has gone on. His

:21:44. > :21:49.long game is getting better and in amongst the balls, he can't wait

:21:49. > :21:53.for a chance. And greater be at a tournament where people are talking

:21:53. > :21:57.about Stephen Maguire as a contender for the title. We know he

:21:57. > :22:01.has won the UK, so that is a barometer, you can generally win

:22:01. > :22:04.the World Championships if you have won the UK. He has gone close

:22:04. > :22:07.before and it maybe things he should have won one by now and has

:22:07. > :22:16.a chance this year -- he may be thinks he should have won one by

:22:16. > :22:21.NEAL FOULDS: No signs that he is going to ease up in this match.

:22:21. > :22:31.These two know each other very well, they have practised hours of frames

:22:31. > :22:35.

:22:35. > :22:45.together, but you have no friends JOHN VIRGO: Close, but he may have

:22:45. > :23:05.

:23:05. > :23:11.It is not a bad kiss on the blue. He would have preferred not to have

:23:11. > :23:16.kissed it. Stephen is an attacking player at the best of times, and

:23:16. > :23:23.you just know with him he is going to be thinking I am just going to

:23:23. > :23:28.have to play at by absolute best and go for everything. -- At My. He

:23:28. > :23:38.will have to hope something clicks into place. It hasn't so far, but

:23:38. > :23:52.

:23:52. > :23:58.That was nicely played, the absolute perfect angle on the blue.

:23:58. > :24:03.He can go into the pink and get these reds open. He is just looking

:24:03. > :24:08.at a plant, which of course would be a big concern. He doesn't think

:24:08. > :24:15.the plant is on, he blasts it and tries to get the reds everywhere,

:24:15. > :24:25.but he is worried about the planned going in and it might change the

:24:25. > :24:34.

:24:34. > :24:38.way he plays it -- about the plant It nearly was a plant. He didn't

:24:38. > :24:48.hold back, though. This is good contact. The cue ball has stayed in

:24:48. > :24:55.

:24:55. > :25:00.the middle of the table for a long His concentration is superb. He

:25:00. > :25:07.really does get into the zone out there. Yes, I remember when he won

:25:07. > :25:11.the UK, beat David Gray in the final, and built up a big lead in

:25:11. > :25:21.the first session. He is not one of those who starts looking over his

:25:21. > :25:24.

:25:24. > :25:34.shoulder. He has got great belief I think those years, when you look

:25:34. > :25:40.at the draw, you're always keep a wary eye out for Stephen. Playing

:25:40. > :25:46.John Higgins a year ago, he looked as though he had him. I think he

:25:46. > :25:54.was 14-10 in front and John Higgins managed to get back and beat him in

:25:54. > :26:00.that match. I think that actually knocked him back. It was back in

:26:00. > :26:05.2007, it was a long time ago. Since then, he hasn't really threatened

:26:05. > :26:10.at the Crucible, until now. This here, he has to be playing well

:26:10. > :26:20.enough from what I am seen to win it. He is playing better and better.

:26:20. > :26:33.

:26:33. > :26:40.If only Stephen Hendry was playing to that tournament pot success, he

:26:40. > :26:50.wouldn't be 8-1 behind, but that is not the case. That is what it is in

:26:50. > :26:50.

:26:50. > :26:55.this match. 79% for Stephen Hendry. That is almost unthinkable. It is,

:26:55. > :27:00.and it is hardly -- hard at the moment to see it going up or down

:27:00. > :27:05.because he is not playing any shots. One chance in the first frame, the

:27:05. > :27:15.blue that had to be cued in. It was not a gimme, but really since then,

:27:15. > :27:39.

:27:39. > :27:43.It is almost two frames since he As John Parrott said in the studio,

:27:43. > :27:50.when you are this far behind, you have got to play unbelievably well

:27:50. > :28:00.and get a bit of help from your opponent. The way that Stephen

:28:00. > :28:35.

:28:35. > :28:45.Maguire is cueing, I don't think he As you say, he doesn't look like

:28:45. > :28:50.

:28:50. > :29:00.missing. They are all going right He is getting on most balls pretty

:29:00. > :29:02.

:29:02. > :29:12.well, even this, which is one you But no problem, because he is close

:29:12. > :29:18.

:29:18. > :29:24.He worked on this match this morning. When I saw the score, I

:29:24. > :29:28.thought the only chance Stephen has got is to get a good start this

:29:28. > :29:34.evening and it has not happened. There is every possibility this

:29:34. > :29:40.could end with a session to spare. It certainly could do. Stephen

:29:41. > :29:50.Hendry will play on, because at the moment, he needs a two snookers.

:29:51. > :29:55.

:29:55. > :29:59.But Stephen Maguire looking good, Might just be trying to get some

:29:59. > :30:04.practice. I don't think Stephen Hendry has won for playing all that

:37:27. > :37:36.

:37:36. > :37:45.Not straightforward on the colour but it's difficult to get on the

:37:45. > :37:52.black. He has had to drop it in and hope for the pink. That's all he

:37:57. > :38:02.is still able to be potted into the right corner, so he can't get that

:38:14. > :38:23.But we are talking about the greatest break-builder that has

:38:23. > :38:33.ever played snooker. So let's see how he works this one out, because

:38:33. > :38:45.

:38:45. > :38:50.There is a red immediately above the black. I wonder if he could

:39:23. > :39:30.He would rather have a half ball blue. It makes it easier to come in

:39:30. > :39:37.and out of baulk. He will have to force this one. Very difficult to

:39:51. > :39:53.

:39:53. > :39:58.No, it was too straight for that. So, unless he plays a very risky

:39:58. > :40:01.pot, I don't know how he's feeling at the moment, he wants to get back

:40:01. > :40:11.in this match in style, but sometimes you have got to take your

:40:11. > :40:13.

:40:13. > :40:21.Obviously, the moment, it looks like there is only one player in

:40:21. > :40:25.the match. But things can change. Players have come from a long wait

:40:25. > :40:29.back at the Crucible before. It can happen. You have got to start

:40:39. > :40:53.

:40:53. > :40:58.that is the right shot he has Catching the ball could have been

:40:59. > :41:02.dangers but it's not too bad, as it turns out. Stephen will be looking

:41:02. > :41:12.for a place near that baulk cushion and trying to use the brown and

:41:12. > :41:17.yellow as cover. Slip this red into Disappointing, really. That's not

:41:17. > :41:22.the best safety shot. But that flick off the green has let the cue

:41:23. > :41:29.ball near the cushion so it's not as bad as it could have been.

:41:29. > :41:39.it's not too bad, in the end, as you say. The right-hand side of the

:41:39. > :41:40.

:41:40. > :41:49.table is covered with the pink so This is a good safety shot he needs

:41:49. > :41:53.here, up and down. Not a very big He was always going to leave a

:41:53. > :42:01.chance on that red but with the brown there, Stephen can't really

:42:01. > :42:08.pot it. That was a good shot from Maguire. Yes, he hit it well but,

:42:08. > :42:12.you have to say, a little bit fortunate. He could have hit that

:42:12. > :42:20.yellow half ball and the possibility Stephen would have

:42:20. > :42:29.potted this red. This is a tough That was tough. Whereas the cue

:42:29. > :42:35.ball going? Oh, the last thing he wanted. He is suffering there. It

:42:35. > :42:45.was a really tough shot. He played it well. He can't get side on it to

:42:45. > :42:48.

:42:48. > :42:54.change the angle and get back to Stephen Look and up the possibility

:42:54. > :42:58.here of a plant. Two reds and he will be think and getting the cue

:43:08. > :43:17.

:43:17. > :43:22.Now, can Stephen get enough of this red to pot it? He is looking very

:43:22. > :43:27.purposeful, so I imagine he can. With the cue ball goes exactly is

:43:27. > :43:37.not something he will be certain of, because when he pots the red it

:43:37. > :43:43.

:43:43. > :43:53.Don't miss the red, though. But it might not be too bad there. It was

:43:53. > :43:58.

:44:08. > :44:52.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 52 seconds

:44:52. > :45:02.Well, much, much too thin. He has gifted an opportunity now to

:45:02. > :45:08.And I think the pink might go into the right corner, so he doesn't

:45:17. > :45:21.he came to the table 23 points behind, but it's not a straight

:45:25. > :45:28.frames in front at the end of this visit. I say it's not

:45:28. > :45:32.straightforward. He got the one on the left-hand side of the table,

:48:38. > :48:41.So, he still wants two of there Now, the one below the black.

:48:41. > :48:48.Especially with the black on its spot, it's a question of getting a

:48:59. > :49:02.He's already thing about which other red he's going to take.

:49:02. > :49:11.Probably the one you can see in view there, on the cushion over

:49:11. > :49:21.there. And he has got the angle to go in behind it. Or perhaps to go

:49:21. > :49:27.

:49:27. > :49:32.and knock it out? It depends how he Didn't mean to go into it there but

:49:32. > :49:40.it's not bad at all. He is playing so well. Had a little nudge there.

:49:40. > :49:50.Yes, all he needs is the red. The slower he plays it, the more chance

:49:50. > :50:10.

:50:10. > :50:20.Never really a doubt, was it? So, there you see it. 45 ahead. 35

:50:20. > :50:20.

:50:20. > :50:29.Well, half-hearted attempt at a double and Stephen concedes, so

:50:29. > :50:32.Stephen Maguire just marches on. That always seems to be her

:50:32. > :50:35.resignation in a match but we will head over to table to do so what's

:50:35. > :50:39.happening between Matthew Stevens and and Ryan Day. It started 5-3

:50:39. > :50:43.today but it's been a great start for Matthew Stevens. Two on the

:50:43. > :50:46.bounce and now all square at 5 appease. Ryan Day should have won

:50:46. > :50:49.the final frame, the session this afternoon but didn't do it. He has

:50:49. > :50:52.had chances in both of these frames and played a very risky plant at

:50:52. > :50:59.the end of this, and Matthew Stevens has cleaned up because of

:50:59. > :51:02.it and got himself back level at 5- 5. He produced some sensational

:51:03. > :51:06.start and is also another player coming to the boil again. Yes and

:51:06. > :51:11.he has Cristobal pedigree, being in two finals before and arguably

:51:11. > :51:15.should have won it but hasn't. He plays well here. It is 5-5. But

:51:15. > :51:19.back to our match. Stephen Hendry does look like he's almost resigned

:51:19. > :51:22.here. Well, the trouble is his opponent is playing so well and you

:51:22. > :51:25.can look at Maguire at the moment and he is definitely trying to win

:51:25. > :51:29.this of the session to spare. If he can get up tomorrow afternoon at

:51:29. > :51:32.not having to come back and put his waistcoat and did he go on again,

:51:32. > :51:42.and come out and play, he would do his utmost to make sure he has and

:51:42. > :51:47.

:51:47. > :51:51.what to do that. He needs three COMMENTATOR: I suppose that's

:51:51. > :51:56.familiar scoreline we remember from a long time ago in the first frame.

:51:56. > :52:05.The great Steve Davis was beaten that score, 10-1, wasn't he? Tony

:52:05. > :52:08.Knowles. One of the great shot at the Crucible, that was. Yes, Tony,

:52:18. > :52:19.

:52:19. > :52:25.It was funny at the end of the last frame, Stephen Maguire was going

:52:25. > :52:30.down and be heard Stephen's sake to him, "well played". Even though

:52:30. > :52:35.he's in a terrible situation, at the moment, Stephen, he appreciates

:52:35. > :52:39.what Stephen Maguire is doing up there. Because, as you said, it's

:52:39. > :52:42.quite easy sometimes when you have got a big lead to go into your

:52:42. > :52:49.shell a little bit. There has been none of that this evening.

:52:49. > :52:59.Absolutely not. These two know each other. They practised together a

:52:59. > :53:30.

:53:30. > :53:39.Well, red goes over the corner. It was an attacking safety. But now,

:53:39. > :53:49.it could be a safety that costs him this frame. There will be in

:53:49. > :53:55.

:53:55. > :53:59.midsession interval after this one. Well, beer is good cueing for you.

:53:59. > :54:04.-- there is good cueing for you. I don't know whether he played for

:54:04. > :54:13.the black there, but he's certainly got so much action on the cue ball.

:54:13. > :54:19.He is on the green. Yes, I don't It's certainly appears to go to the

:54:19. > :54:29.left corner. I feel he will play for that black. He is hitting the

:54:29. > :54:39.

:54:39. > :54:45.ball so well. Not easy to get the Let's have another look at it. He

:54:45. > :54:55.pushed that cue through straight as a die. And that is all done with

:54:55. > :55:06.

:55:06. > :55:09.lots of backspin and plenty of There is the screw shot, with the

:55:09. > :55:14.black and white ball which helps you to see what the ball is

:55:14. > :55:23.actually doing. Maguire's shot was over a longer distance. The same

:55:23. > :55:28.Yes, a longer distance, you have got to hit it a little bit harder.

:55:29. > :55:38.Otherwise, of course, when the ball arrives, at the object ball,

:55:39. > :55:41.

:55:41. > :55:45.He is right back in here. The shot Stephen Hendry played, talk about

:55:45. > :55:51.attacking shots, how much does he want to get the balls open against

:55:51. > :55:56.Maguire? He did. I think it would be the last thing he wants to do.

:55:56. > :56:02.Yes, but I don't think you could ever accuse Stephen Hendry of being

:56:02. > :56:06.a grinder. As I said, if he's going to get back into this match, he has

:56:06. > :56:13.to do it in his own way, attacking and break-building, but it's not

:56:13. > :56:17.Well, those reds have gone everywhere from that shot and every

:56:17. > :56:27.chance one will go over a pocket, I would say, over these fast tables,

:56:27. > :56:56.

:56:56. > :57:00.Well, the pink on its spot. The red is nicely in the open. Smack in the

:57:00. > :57:06.middle of the pockets. It's hard to see how he's not going to win the

:57:06. > :57:16.frame at this visit. Just about to say the same thing, again, that

:57:16. > :57:19.

:57:19. > :57:22.I seem to remember when he won the UK Championship, way back in 2004,

:57:22. > :57:27.when everybody said he was going to be the next big thing, that's what

:57:27. > :57:37.the balls were doing them. He didn't miss the balls for a week

:57:37. > :58:11.

:58:11. > :58:15.Well, I'm afraid we have come to the end of our coverage on BBC Two

:58:15. > :58:20.for now. Stephen Hendry really struggling to cope with Stephen

:58:20. > :58:24.Maguire tonight but a reminder that on the red button, or on your
