0:00:27 > 0:00:34Crucible Theatre for the final session of the second semi-final. We

0:00:34 > 0:00:40already have one finalist. Have a guess? Yes, he is back, the

0:00:40 > 0:00:50defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan meets the winner of this match

0:00:50 > 0:00:55

0:00:55 > 0:01:05between Ricky Walden and Barry Hawkins. I would suggest that is the

0:01:05 > 0:01:05

0:01:05 > 0:01:53Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:01:53 > 0:01:57this match. 12 all, all to play for! For Ricky Walden, this is

0:01:57 > 0:02:04another game, something he has done a thousand times before. They

0:02:04 > 0:02:09distort the -- not just another game, is it? It is unchartered

0:02:09 > 0:02:19territory. If you can forget the scoreboard, trust your technique. A

0:02:19 > 0:02:32

0:02:32 > 0:02:42will wipe the floor with you. Once he gets going, he is unstoppable. If

0:02:42 > 0:02:47

0:02:47 > 0:02:57he gets agitated, then he could lose to anybody. Very unusual cue action.

0:02:57 > 0:02:57

0:02:57 > 0:03:06He has a similar flow to Ronnie, but he has an up and down motion. A

0:03:06 > 0:03:16great potter who scores very fast and very heavily. He is a player

0:03:16 > 0:03:21

0:03:22 > 0:03:28that has maybe not fulfilled his loves running, good player.

0:03:28 > 0:03:38thought he would have probably done better when he won in China, but he

0:03:38 > 0:03:39

0:03:39 > 0:03:49has not done well for the talent he has got. He gets on with it. He is a

0:03:49 > 0:03:50

0:03:50 > 0:03:54very fluent player. When he gets on a roll he can roll over you.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58Barry Hawkins, this is the most important session of his career in

0:03:58 > 0:04:08the most important venue snooker has ever had. It is one frame at a time,

0:04:08 > 0:04:16

0:04:16 > 0:04:23one ball at a time and most and some friends used to go to the

0:04:23 > 0:04:31snooker club. I went with them and fell in love. At least I was not

0:04:31 > 0:04:35hanging around the streets. I think my mum and dad preferred that. I

0:04:35 > 0:04:40just was down there all the time. I just wanted to get better and better

0:04:40 > 0:04:47and win matches and stuff like that. That was part of the reason why I

0:04:47 > 0:04:50loved it. I suppose it was the challenge I was looking for. I can

0:04:51 > 0:04:57remember making my first century and missing my first century as well,

0:04:57 > 0:05:03missing a black off the spot. I was trying to keep screw in for the

0:05:03 > 0:05:07yellow and make a total clearance but I miscued. I think the second

0:05:07 > 0:05:13time I rolled the ball in for the century. I definitely remember that.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16There has been so many memories over the years. Once you get to a certain

0:05:16 > 0:05:26level you have got to keep getting wetter and better, especially at the

0:05:26 > 0:05:29

0:05:29 > 0:05:35top end of the game. -- better and better. It does not get any easier,

0:05:35 > 0:05:41that is for sure. When you win big matches, the Bulls kicks in. Playing

0:05:41 > 0:05:50in front of packed houses and stuff like that, that is a great buzz. You

0:05:50 > 0:06:00do not get the same feeling playing your usual, you just play it because

0:06:00 > 0:06:07

0:06:07 > 0:06:11Terrific atmosphere here in the Crucible. Last year, Ricky Walden

0:06:11 > 0:06:14did not make it out of the qualifiers. Now he has the chance of

0:06:14 > 0:06:21making it up a World Championship final. The players have made their

0:06:21 > 0:06:27last-minute preparations. Let's join our MC. Good evening, ladies and

0:06:27 > 0:06:32gentlemen. This is the best of nine to join Ronnie O'Sullivan into

0:06:32 > 0:06:36moral's Betfair World Snooker Championship world final. For the

0:06:36 > 0:06:39men backstage, this is the biggest moment of their lives so far. The

0:06:39 > 0:06:49crowd are ready to give them a hero's welcome as we prepare once

0:06:49 > 0:07:17

0:07:17 > 0:07:24again to get the boys on the bays. in the first two sessions but came

0:07:24 > 0:07:28alive this morning, two centuries helping him to draw level. He has

0:07:28 > 0:07:33already knocked out Mark Selby and Ding Junhui. Can he find one more

0:07:33 > 0:07:41top-quality session of snooker and make it through to the final? His

0:07:41 > 0:07:5117th year career could climax this weekend. Please welcome Barry

0:07:51 > 0:08:06

0:08:06 > 0:08:10Hawkins! And his opponent, what a season it

0:08:10 > 0:08:14has been for a player and now guaranteed a place in the world's

0:08:14 > 0:08:20top eight for the first time. hadn't won a match at the Crucible

0:08:20 > 0:08:30until this year and even though he has been brought back, this is still

0:08:30 > 0:08:40a huge opportunity. He has been at his best for the last two weeks. The

0:08:40 > 0:08:55

0:08:55 > 0:08:59We are all set. What a recovery Barry Hawkins has made in this

0:08:59 > 0:09:03semi-final. He has beaten Mark Selby, he has beaten Ding Junhui,

0:09:03 > 0:09:09has he got another big performance in him tonight? Good evening to the

0:09:09 > 0:09:19commentary team, Stephen Hendry and John Virgo. Good evening everybody.

0:09:19 > 0:09:33

0:09:33 > 0:09:43And, yes, a big night for these two Maybe they will relax because the

0:09:43 > 0:09:53end is in sight. Just nine frames this evening. They started

0:09:53 > 0:10:04

0:10:04 > 0:10:14practically three days ago. You feel out to a reception like that any

0:10:14 > 0:10:45

0:10:45 > 0:10:49time in their career. It will get Ricky Walden plays. He was clearly

0:10:49 > 0:10:54suffering at the end of the session. Clearly, the end came at a good time

0:10:54 > 0:10:57for him. You can put yourself under pressure. He knows in the first two

0:10:57 > 0:11:03sessions, Barry Hawkins never produced anything like his top

0:11:03 > 0:11:11game. He was thinking, why is it still so close? He had its

0:11:11 > 0:11:21opportunities and he has not taken them. You would think, of the two,

0:11:21 > 0:11:23

0:11:23 > 0:11:33Barry Hawkins would be the more pleased, to be 12-12 and still not

0:11:33 > 0:11:52

0:11:52 > 0:12:02producing the form he did against are spread. He has to be careful,

0:12:02 > 0:12:23

0:12:23 > 0:12:29particularly with the black corner. There is a medium-range

0:12:29 > 0:12:39red. First chance of the night to Ricky Walden. To date nicely. --

0:12:39 > 0:12:58

0:12:58 > 0:13:02getting his cue action going through smooth. He would like to remove the

0:13:02 > 0:13:12red near the left corner to play the black for both corner pockets sooner

0:13:12 > 0:13:33

0:13:33 > 0:13:43foreign off to leave him on the black. -- has gone through far

0:13:43 > 0:13:43

0:13:43 > 0:15:32Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:15:32 > 0:15:41the business end but using the rest nice angle to cannon into the three

0:15:41 > 0:15:46reds above the black, because it is just a bit congested in that area.

0:15:46 > 0:15:56He will have to select the one on the right hand side that is sticking

0:15:56 > 0:16:01

0:16:01 > 0:16:08out, he will have to flick that one. He plated with a bit more pace than

0:16:08 > 0:16:18you would have thought. -- he played it with. Surely one of these two

0:16:18 > 0:16:18

0:16:18 > 0:17:04Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:17:04 > 0:17:09down on his cue ball to get position he been straight on the red he could

0:17:09 > 0:17:19have constantly played for the pink. He will have to go for a blue or of

0:17:19 > 0:17:19

0:17:19 > 0:19:36Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:19:36 > 0:19:39but there is a bit of work to do a position where he can get through

0:19:39 > 0:19:49to the black doorstop if the pink went to the right middle there would

0:19:49 > 0:20:21

0:20:21 > 0:20:31be problem, just stun the red in. the left corner if he plays to this

0:20:31 > 0:20:35

0:20:35 > 0:20:45to the left of the black, so a little screw as we, in over the

0:20:45 > 0:20:45

0:20:45 > 0:22:49Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:22:49 > 0:22:57into the lead for the first time in do we see that! It is not a bad

0:22:57 > 0:23:04lead, though, 50 points with 51 remaining. I would suggest, as we

0:23:04 > 0:23:11watch this missed red, so close. Ricky Walden will have to play safe.

0:23:11 > 0:23:21With each red hit parts he has got to pop the black to be able to win

0:23:21 > 0:23:50

0:23:50 > 0:24:00on this red? Perfect to get on the black. What a frame this would be to

0:24:00 > 0:24:09

0:24:09 > 0:24:12steal for Ricky Walden. He has got a psychological blow in this session.

0:24:12 > 0:24:22He looked like he was cruising for the first frame. That is a careless

0:24:22 > 0:24:22

0:24:22 > 0:25:02Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:25:02 > 0:25:12bottom red to develop it. Just playing the top red off the

0:25:12 > 0:25:49

0:25:49 > 0:25:59worst. He will screw this and play topspin of two cushions. -- off two

0:25:59 > 0:26:23

0:26:23 > 0:26:33He needs the black to win the frame at this visit. Now, the pink and the

0:26:33 > 0:26:33

0:26:33 > 0:27:17Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:27:17 > 0:27:27six remaining colours to take us to remaining colours he will get

0:27:27 > 0:27:42

0:27:42 > 0:27:48another chance, because there will this is the most important one,

0:27:48 > 0:27:56position from brown to blow. If he gets perfect on the blue it is a

0:27:56 > 0:28:06formality, if not, he will have to come off the top cushion. Still a

0:28:06 > 0:28:18

0:28:18 > 0:28:27with a lot of right-hand side to follow through off two cushions for

0:28:27 > 0:28:32the black to the right corner. He can just drop the pink in and leave

0:28:32 > 0:28:42a tougher black to the left corner, but we will see how he feels. He has

0:28:42 > 0:29:14

0:29:14 > 0:29:17Ricky Walden. Barry Hawkins had a chance, just wanted one more red, he

0:29:17 > 0:29:27missed it in the middle. Unfortunately, Ricky could not get

0:29:27 > 0:29:34

0:29:34 > 0:29:44Ricky Walden won the toss. A frame that he should have had one by now,

0:29:44 > 0:29:57

0:29:57 > 0:30:07but it is the one that most players play these days. The black tight on

0:30:07 > 0:30:18

0:30:18 > 0:30:28the cushion means he cannot have a go at the double either. It is not

0:30:28 > 0:30:37

0:30:37 > 0:30:41occasions, you do not want to leave your opponent a pot on, but try to

0:30:41 > 0:30:51get as much distance as you can between cue ball and object ball. If

0:30:51 > 0:31:03

0:31:03 > 0:31:08you don't, you leave your opponent there. If that black runs of the

0:31:08 > 0:31:14cushion he may have got away with it, but I don't think he has. Not

0:31:14 > 0:31:24sure what he had in mind there. He has left a good chance on for Barry

0:31:24 > 0:31:30

0:31:30 > 0:31:36Hawkins to put that to the back of front for the first time in the

0:31:36 > 0:31:46match. Ricky Walden had a chance, but couldn't take it. Barry Hawkins

0:31:46 > 0:31:50

0:31:50 > 0:31:55That is a frame he should have had wrapped up. He should have, but it

0:31:55 > 0:32:00was a great clear from Ricky. it came down to the final black,

0:32:00 > 0:32:05Barry Hawkins could not play this any better. When you play this

0:32:05 > 0:32:11shot, if you get the cue ball higher than the black, you have put him in

0:32:11 > 0:32:15all sorts of trouble. There's not much can do. Ricky decided to try

0:32:15 > 0:32:19and play that shot, but was struggling to keep the white ball in

0:32:19 > 0:32:23the bottom half of the table. There was a possibility he could have

0:32:23 > 0:32:29played at containing double kiss, but apart from that, he was in

0:32:29 > 0:32:34trouble. He decided to play an aggressive attempt in the end, but

0:32:34 > 0:32:39it went wrong because the white ball whipped up the table. Which begs the

0:32:39 > 0:32:48question, what was he playing at? would have chipped the black on the

0:32:48 > 0:32:55top rail. Psychologically, where is Ricky

0:32:55 > 0:32:59Walden's head right now? He has to keep going. He knows tonight is the

0:32:59 > 0:33:09best of nine. It has gone wrong with there, but he has to keep going. He

0:33:09 > 0:33:10

0:33:10 > 0:33:18took the clearance well at BM. memorably said, don't panic. He

0:33:18 > 0:33:22might well have done. I was talking about Barry! No, I think there will

0:33:22 > 0:33:32be panic before the night is over. The closer we get to the finish

0:33:32 > 0:33:49

0:33:49 > 0:33:59line, the more interesting frames we I think anything that doesn't leave

0:33:59 > 0:34:14

0:34:14 > 0:34:19the pots are now, we have to give red to the far left corner.

0:34:19 > 0:34:29Interesting to see what choice of shot Barry Hawkins plays. He has not

0:34:29 > 0:34:34

0:34:34 > 0:34:38looked at the red to the far left he has Ricky Walden, not where he

0:34:38 > 0:34:44wants him, but under pressure. He's a good match player, Barry. He will

0:34:44 > 0:34:54try to him there. There is no doubt that Barry looks

0:34:54 > 0:34:58

0:34:58 > 0:35:08the more comfortable and composed of with being behind for the first time

0:35:08 > 0:35:36

0:35:36 > 0:35:46from Barry. Opening up the reds. It is not a bad idea to open up the

0:35:46 > 0:35:53

0:35:53 > 0:36:03reds, but you need a better length He has not got away with it. Much

0:36:03 > 0:36:37

0:36:37 > 0:36:40here. Keep the pressure on. At the moment, Ricky looks like the

0:36:40 > 0:36:50occasion is getting the better of him. He does not look comfortable at

0:36:50 > 0:36:54

0:36:54 > 0:36:58like this. Concentrate on your own game, but keep a note on your

0:36:58 > 0:37:08opponent and how he is feeling. If he is under pressure, that gives you

0:37:08 > 0:37:15

0:37:15 > 0:37:25an important red to get rid of, it cleared the black spot, but Ricky

0:37:25 > 0:37:31

0:37:31 > 0:37:41would make him think, Barry Hawkins, why didn't that red them in

0:37:41 > 0:37:58

0:37:58 > 0:38:06are quite tricky. Have to give it a positive cue action, but at the same

0:38:06 > 0:38:16time not hit it too hard. Going back for the blue this time. He did not

0:38:16 > 0:38:26

0:38:26 > 0:38:29of the pocket. Sometimes, if you are going to be the wrong side, with the

0:38:29 > 0:38:34brown not on the spot, you think there would be a good chance of

0:38:34 > 0:38:44coming in on the baulk. Probably too straight to force that. He will do

0:38:44 > 0:38:54

0:38:54 > 0:39:01Maybe the red to the white -- right of the black will work, but he won't

0:39:01 > 0:39:11play that. He will try to find the baulk cushion. Whatever you do,

0:39:11 > 0:39:11

0:39:11 > 0:39:54Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:39:54 > 0:39:58don't hit the blue. So, he didn't throughout the match so far, Ricky

0:39:59 > 0:40:08Walden has looked the better. As he proved in the last frame when he

0:40:09 > 0:40:09

0:40:09 > 0:40:53Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:40:53 > 0:40:57corner, but so close to the cushion. deadweight. I suppose the only good

0:40:57 > 0:41:01thing about having such a fine cut on the black, he will play at such a

0:41:01 > 0:41:11pace, if he misses it is a good chance the black will cover the

0:41:11 > 0:41:11

0:41:11 > 0:42:29Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

0:42:29 > 0:42:37is available. This time he has a the reds. He may have to play the

0:42:37 > 0:42:47man now. Can't see a red that is available. He has a nice angle to

0:42:47 > 0:43:22

0:43:22 > 0:43:29come on and off the top cushion. a O'Sullivan, the way he brings the

0:43:29 > 0:43:39cue right back to his hand and follows through smoothly. Excellent

0:43:39 > 0:44:05

0:44:05 > 0:44:13ball these days, they get the cue ball claimed. Can they detect a

0:44:13 > 0:44:23cake? I did not really detect one. Almost looked to be hitting the red

0:44:23 > 0:44:31

0:44:31 > 0:44:41to fall to me. He just came slightly Hawkins comes to the table 36 points

0:44:41 > 0:44:49

0:44:49 > 0:44:59behind. He will do well to win the the reds are not great. There is

0:44:59 > 0:45:27

0:45:27 > 0:45:37only really the green and black at take advantage of, playing at this

0:45:37 > 0:45:49

0:45:49 > 0:45:59importance of trying to make this clearance. Really punish Ricky for

0:45:59 > 0:46:07

0:46:07 > 0:46:10than went on. Thought it was going to be perfect on the black. That is

0:46:10 > 0:46:20what I thought and then he seemed to come off the cushion and quicker

0:46:20 > 0:46:20

0:46:20 > 0:46:25than he went on. He is not perfect on this blackmail. -- black now. Had

0:46:25 > 0:46:35to try and make the come on, but needed to catch the red first. As it

0:46:35 > 0:46:56

0:46:56 > 0:47:06turned out, he got in behind the premature end. He did get a quick

0:47:06 > 0:47:17

0:47:17 > 0:47:27behind the yellow, brown and blue. Just not enough pace. Just landing

0:47:27 > 0:47:39

0:47:39 > 0:47:49on the baulk line leaves a chance hit the ball a bit better, he

0:47:49 > 0:48:15

0:48:15 > 0:48:17accelerated there and that is why he to pot the red. A touch of

0:48:17 > 0:48:27right-hand side and it will go towards the other red and maybe take

0:48:27 > 0:48:42

0:48:42 > 0:48:52potted that red, he was looking at the possibilities of where to leave

0:48:52 > 0:48:57

0:48:57 > 0:49:07the cue ball to play a double on probably screwed back a little bit

0:49:07 > 0:49:21

0:49:21 > 0:49:31further than he would have liked. pocket. If he has an angle on the

0:49:31 > 0:49:40

0:49:40 > 0:49:50behind. He is looking at the scoreboard. He needs up to and

0:49:50 > 0:49:55

0:49:55 > 0:50:05left-handed. The pink is on the correct side of the table for him to

0:50:05 > 0:50:18

0:50:18 > 0:50:28play that. But it will not be given this frame. Yeah, the pink is good

0:50:28 > 0:50:31

0:50:31 > 0:50:37for a left-hander, but not the run to the side cushion is the way.

0:50:37 > 0:50:47Ricky has nothing to do there, he has had his chance. Will he get

0:50:47 > 0:51:09

0:51:09 > 0:51:19another in this frame? He will have get back to the table. It is an easy

0:51:19 > 0:51:30

0:51:40 > 0:51:59

0:52:00 > 0:52:09safety. If he had got in the jaws, the pink would have stayed at this

0:52:10 > 0:52:40

0:52:40 > 0:52:49smile. He thought if he missed it he may run safe, but once the pink kiss

0:52:49 > 0:52:59the black. And in it goes so Barry Hawkins now really putting Ricky

0:52:59 > 0:53:06

0:53:06 > 0:53:10Walden under pressure. He has now always looked the most comfortable

0:53:10 > 0:53:17in the balls, but he got in the balls and was looking good and then

0:53:17 > 0:53:24he missed the red. He was slightly hampered by the red closes to his

0:53:24 > 0:53:28hand, but he was on a roll. Obviously did not give it enough

0:53:28 > 0:53:33care and attention and reacted like it was a kick, but it didn't look

0:53:33 > 0:53:39like the red left the table. I would like to give him the benefit of the

0:53:39 > 0:53:42doubt, but it looked like he missed it to me. You wonder now what is

0:53:42 > 0:53:46going through Ricky 's head because he led all the way through this

0:53:47 > 0:53:56match. Now we are in this vital final session and he lost the first

0:53:56 > 0:54:00two frames. That is six in a row he has lost since the last session.

0:54:00 > 0:54:06That is a lot for a player of the nature of Ricky who is fluent and

0:54:06 > 0:54:16break the building. It is not as though he has not had chances. It

0:54:16 > 0:54:42

0:54:42 > 0:54:49will be gnawing away at his have been looking for a big lead

0:54:59 > 0:55:02

0:55:02 > 0:55:12view, he can get to the red on the right-hand side of the table, but if

0:55:12 > 0:55:37

0:55:37 > 0:55:42he can get past the yellow, he can only just about reached the baulk

0:55:42 > 0:55:52line rather than the baulk cushion. He is not hitting the ball at the

0:55:52 > 0:56:32

0:56:32 > 0:56:35corner. As far as he is concerned, he has a good cue ball. This red is

0:56:35 > 0:56:40dead straight so you could take it on and potted, but you would only

0:56:40 > 0:56:45get one point. I suppose it is worth while playing that, because you

0:56:45 > 0:56:55would not want to play safety and leave that one for your opponent.

0:56:55 > 0:57:19

0:57:19 > 0:57:29tried to roll the red in. He was lucky not to have (here. He was up

1:00:18 > 1:00:28not to go into the paint. If he was going to play the cannon he may as

1:01:18 > 1:01:36

1:01:36 > 1:01:46enough of the pink to pot it or whether he is looking down at the

1:01:46 > 1:01:48

1:06:28 > 1:06:38the red to the left of the yellow. Just a containing safety, and not a

1:06:38 > 1:07:17

1:07:38 > 1:07:47

1:07:57 > 1:08:37Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:08:37 > 1:08:46him. What sort of angle has got on that is that he has put the pink

1:12:15 > 1:12:48

1:12:58 > 1:13:00

1:13:00 > 1:13:10just a little bit more difficult. Played it well. He might be able to

1:14:08 > 1:14:13frame at this busy but he can get the right corner. He wants to pot

1:15:01 > 1:15:13

1:15:13 > 1:15:23pink is a lot more difficult than problem. If he plays on this red he

1:15:23 > 1:15:25

1:15:25 > 1:15:35will run into other reds, so he is thinking he might -- so Walden is

1:15:35 > 1:15:48

1:15:48 > 1:15:58thinking he might get to the table result of all cannons. And it does

1:15:58 > 1:16:11

1:19:26 > 1:19:33looking at another frame slipping when he made his first break over

1:19:33 > 1:19:4350, he is just staying in by hanging tough. He is getting his rewards. It

1:21:30 > 1:21:38is odds-on to have a three frame seven frames in a row and now, Harry

1:21:38 > 1:21:48Hawkins becomes the hot favourite for a place in the final. - Barry

1:21:48 > 1:21:50

1:21:50 > 1:21:54Amazing stuff, considering frame 19 Barry Hawkins made his first century

1:21:54 > 1:22:01break. He has played so well. Walden has come out tonight

1:22:01 > 1:22:10optimistic, because you would expect that. He has made some wrong

1:22:10 > 1:22:16decisions, especially in the first frame. In the second frame, pink and

1:22:16 > 1:22:23black left on the table. He made 50-50 decisions and sometimes when

1:22:23 > 1:22:30they go wrong, you get punished for them. You get the feeling the

1:22:30 > 1:22:40confidence is seeping through Arie Hawkins pot play tonight. -- Barry

1:22:40 > 1:22:42

1:22:42 > 1:22:48Hawkins' play tonight. Walden can't seem to win a frame. Earlier,

1:22:48 > 1:22:56Hawkins' highest rate was 36. Obviously tonight he has come out

1:22:56 > 1:23:05all square. You made a point in the second frame, you told Ricky to slow

1:23:05 > 1:23:15down. Perhaps you need a fraction of time to steady yourself. Ricky

1:23:15 > 1:23:16

1:23:16 > 1:23:26Walden isn't the sort of person plays snooker slowly. I might have

1:23:26 > 1:23:28

1:23:28 > 1:23:34gone out to the toilet at the end of with Terry Griffiths. Is that what

1:23:34 > 1:23:43he brings to a player, this concentration? It is easy to listen

1:23:43 > 1:23:47to someone who has been there and done it. He was a world champion.

1:23:47 > 1:23:57Barry Hawkins moving ever closer to the final. Still plenty of time to

1:23:57 > 1:24:05

1:24:05 > 1:24:08Ronnie in the final! Something I have felt throughout this much, for

1:24:08 > 1:24:17both players this is the biggest match of their careers, a place in

1:24:17 > 1:24:22the final. I think they have had the feeling, if they have just not made

1:24:22 > 1:24:27any silly mistakes, they could win. Whoever gets into the final

1:24:27 > 1:24:31well-known that they can only bring their a game if they get the chance.

1:24:31 > 1:24:36In a way that takes a bit of pressure off. These two players were

1:24:36 > 1:24:42very nervy in the first two sessions and I agree with what John Parrott

1:24:42 > 1:24:48said, Walden should have gone on from there. He had his old Paul and

1:24:48 > 1:24:54not playing well, highest break 36. It was frame 18 before Hawkins made

1:24:54 > 1:25:01a break over 50. Funnily enough, he lost that frame. If he loses this

1:25:01 > 1:25:11much he has only himself to blame. He should have been clear after

1:25:11 > 1:25:11

1:25:11 > 1:27:35Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:27:35 > 1:27:45have this replaced. There you see it, the gap. It is a thin one but it

1:27:45 > 1:28:01

1:28:01 > 1:28:11without much pace. You should take every half chance that comes along

1:28:11 > 1:28:38

1:28:38 > 1:28:48now. He played that as if it was a get this red away from the black

1:28:48 > 1:28:48

1:28:48 > 1:29:36Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:29:36 > 1:29:43spot. He could not have hit that on the yellow. He struck it really

1:29:43 > 1:29:53well. This is the screw shot. It brings back with all of that

1:29:53 > 1:29:57

1:29:57 > 1:30:03on that shot and will be disappointed. He should have had a

1:30:03 > 1:30:09better angle on the blue than this. That is what caused the miss. In a

1:30:09 > 1:30:15way, he is very lucky. If the blue had not come across and knocked the

1:30:15 > 1:30:23Whiting, he would have left a nice easy starter for his opponent. I

1:30:23 > 1:30:27think the blue may have gone in the pocket. I was watching Ricky Walden

1:30:27 > 1:30:37talking away to himself. He thinks the world is against him at the

1:30:37 > 1:30:50

1:30:50 > 1:30:58this frame. I think it goes without saying, that Ricky has got to win

1:30:58 > 1:31:02it. If Barry Hawkins wins it, he will be one frame away from a place

1:31:02 > 1:31:08in the final. The way this evening session has panned out, I think it

1:31:08 > 1:31:18would be too much for Mickey while -- Ricky Walden to claw back. He has

1:31:18 > 1:31:18

1:31:18 > 1:32:00Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:32:00 > 1:32:10he would have left a sitter on for Barry. The whites just managed to

1:33:30 > 1:33:55

1:33:55 > 1:34:05long as this in their careers. He doesn't fancy this line. He will try

1:34:05 > 1:34:16

1:34:16 > 1:34:25think Ricky Walden is thinking the world is against him here. Barry has

1:34:25 > 1:34:35not left a pot on the. Hit it much too hard. Nearly touching, but not

1:34:35 > 1:34:41

1:34:41 > 1:34:51play another good safety. Hope that the next time your opponent makes a

1:34:51 > 1:35:04

1:35:04 > 1:35:09for Ricky Walden to win, that swimming lane will be so tough to

1:35:09 > 1:35:13get over for Barry Hawkins. And for Ricky if he gets that far. To get to

1:35:13 > 1:35:23the final of the world championship, huge pressure to get over the

1:35:23 > 1:35:38

1:35:38 > 1:35:42not bad. I think he has an angle to come down for the red. It was a good

1:35:42 > 1:35:52part and he found a good line. I think he thought he may be running

1:35:52 > 1:36:03

1:36:03 > 1:36:13into another red. As you say, he has its spots, but it is too risky.

1:36:13 > 1:36:21

1:36:21 > 1:36:31Having said that, can he get a good the pink. Just another couple of

1:36:31 > 1:36:38

1:36:38 > 1:36:48rolls needed. Can he hold for the pack. That would be a positive shot.

1:36:48 > 1:37:00

1:37:00 > 1:37:07sometimes. It will be more frustrating now that the pink is on

1:37:07 > 1:37:14the blackspot. The red he is closest to is pottable. It is. But the red

1:37:14 > 1:37:19he wanted to be on, I think he has just run a little bit too far. I

1:37:19 > 1:37:23know he is close to it. When you are close, sometimes it is difficult to

1:37:23 > 1:37:33judge the potting angle. He is playing the one along the cushion, I

1:37:33 > 1:37:37

1:37:37 > 1:37:42would rather the one he is closing rather than shots for something. I

1:37:42 > 1:37:48think he has chose that thinking, if I missed it I won't leave anything.

1:37:48 > 1:37:52He needs to think more positive. don't see any point in taking the

1:37:52 > 1:38:02part on if that is where you would leave the cue ball. I would rather

1:38:02 > 1:38:34

1:38:34 > 1:38:38is what happens when you are just not finding the middle of the cue

1:38:38 > 1:38:48ball with the tip of your cue. Report and into -- and intentional

1:38:48 > 1:38:48

1:38:48 > 1:39:59Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:39:59 > 1:40:07taken. There is a chance here for might know what he is saying. Barry

1:40:07 > 1:40:13staring down at the floor. It was a poor pink he played there. Once it

1:40:13 > 1:40:23was careering towards the red, he was lucky he did not split them all

1:40:23 > 1:40:23

1:40:23 > 1:41:10Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:41:10 > 1:41:20ball he played has careered into the reds. But once again, not left

1:41:20 > 1:41:28

1:41:28 > 1:41:31anything easy. Apart from the easy like to leave the cue ball. A lot of

1:41:31 > 1:41:37people walk up to the baulk end and see where they would not like to

1:41:37 > 1:41:40play the next shot from. As far as I am concerned, with any of these

1:41:40 > 1:41:50shots, find the baulk cushion and the Titanic. Then nothing will be

1:41:50 > 1:41:56

1:41:56 > 1:42:02difference. When that cue ball is tight against the cushion, you can't

1:42:02 > 1:42:12put any side on it or widen the angle. He can put side on this if he

1:42:12 > 1:42:28

1:42:28 > 1:42:38time this evening, Barry, he is well short of his intended target, which

1:42:38 > 1:43:09

1:43:09 > 1:43:13if he plays the runthrough? He can only red he could leave was the one

1:43:13 > 1:43:19he was playing. As I say, he was just frightened that if he hit it

1:43:19 > 1:43:29too thin on the right-hand side, he could have run into the cluster. I

1:43:29 > 1:43:30

1:43:30 > 1:44:26Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:44:26 > 1:44:30don't think this reds just above the negative shots to play. I agree.

1:44:30 > 1:44:34Particularly as he could have screwed the cue ball back to the top

1:44:34 > 1:44:41cushion. Whoever gets the cue ball tight to the top cushion here is in

1:44:41 > 1:44:51control of this. Having said that, as it happens, it has not turned out

1:44:51 > 1:45:17

1:45:17 > 1:45:27to bad because he has hampered him the corner pocket is a good place.

1:45:27 > 1:45:32

1:45:32 > 1:45:38Again, try to get tight on the couple of attempts to bring the

1:45:38 > 1:45:48black into play. Ricky can get to the bottom of this cue ball, so he

1:45:48 > 1:45:51

1:45:51 > 1:45:54to the left corner pocket, it stops Ricky playing the shot. There are

1:45:54 > 1:46:04enough he will have the red behind the brown to play for, but that is a

1:46:04 > 1:46:11

1:46:11 > 1:46:17over the left corner pocket. Obviously could not get to that

1:46:17 > 1:46:23position where he was, but he has given Ricky chance. If he could get

1:46:23 > 1:46:33this cue ball behind the black, he would have the initiative in this

1:46:33 > 1:46:33

1:46:33 > 1:47:52Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:47:52 > 1:48:02into the yellow. Misjudged it. I am sure he has left a pot on here.

1:48:02 > 1:48:04

1:48:04 > 1:48:08Barry Hawkins ten points behind. A chance to the far left corner.

1:48:08 > 1:48:18be interesting to see how positive he plays this. For a colour or does

1:48:18 > 1:48:54

1:48:54 > 1:49:04that pace and be that accurate, was session and he would be one frame

1:49:04 > 1:49:18

1:49:18 > 1:49:28this pink. A little shake of the head there, so that tells me he is

1:49:28 > 1:49:45

1:49:45 > 1:49:55reds to the right of the pink would have been available easily if he had

1:49:55 > 1:49:56

1:49:56 > 1:50:06had a better angle. He managed to play a stand. He has played it very

1:50:06 > 1:50:10

1:50:10 > 1:50:16careful. These two reds, when he pots the left-hand one, he does not

1:50:16 > 1:50:22want to knock the other one safe against the cushion. That is why he

1:50:22 > 1:50:26played it firmer to bring the reds on and off the cushion. Of course,

1:50:26 > 1:50:31what happens? He is hampered for the pink, but he always knew he would

1:50:31 > 1:50:41have the blue as a reserve. Had to play at farm, did not want the red

1:50:41 > 1:50:58

1:50:58 > 1:51:08honesty. The blow with a thin cut. Once you pottable saying it is

1:51:08 > 1:51:32

1:51:32 > 1:51:42having a little laugh to himself. He is an angry man in that chair at the

1:51:42 > 1:51:53

1:51:53 > 1:52:01minute. You can't play your best scoreboard. He still means three of

1:52:01 > 1:52:11these reds. As long as you are with high valued colours, a but he is not

1:52:11 > 1:52:36

1:52:36 > 1:52:46certain to get high valued, -- semi-final. Jacqueline Zaleski is

1:52:46 > 1:52:56

1:52:56 > 1:53:00one of the up and coming players, one in the world. And then Ding

1:53:00 > 1:53:06Junhui, seventh ranked player in the world. He has had a tough time of

1:53:06 > 1:53:14it. When this match first started, you thought maybe it has taken a bit

1:53:14 > 1:53:20out of him is he really struggled. But he has hung on in there and now

1:53:20 > 1:53:30looks certain to go within one frame of a place of the final comes the

1:53:30 > 1:53:53

1:53:53 > 1:54:03midsession in -- midsession the midsession interval in a place

1:54:03 > 1:54:13that no player likes to be. He led 12-8. Halfway through this vital

1:54:13 > 1:54:39

1:54:39 > 1:54:49eight frames in a row. Is there can take Barry's eyes off the prize,

1:54:49 > 1:55:02

1:55:02 > 1:55:08Selby and Ding Junhui, he was the underdog. Perhaps it was not under

1:55:08 > 1:55:18too much pressure. I thought in the semi-final maybe there was a lot of

1:55:18 > 1:55:42

1:55:42 > 1:55:47sessions, but he is coming through the right time. Ricky Walden only is

1:55:47 > 1:55:57the arena. Where is his next frame going to come from? Barry Hawkins is

1:55:57 > 1:55:59

1:55:59 > 1:56:02now one frame away from a place in Hawkins so far. When he won the

1:56:02 > 1:56:08Australian open, he said that hopefully that when was going to

1:56:08 > 1:56:14inspire him. This fella, he can't miss and yet he was so scrappy when

1:56:14 > 1:56:18he started. They always say you have some session at the Crucible where

1:56:18 > 1:56:27things do not go right. He had two of them at the start, but he climbed

1:56:27 > 1:56:31in. 9-7 behind, he must have thought he can't play any worse than that.

1:56:31 > 1:56:36don't think I have ever seen a semi-final match turnaround as much.

1:56:36 > 1:56:40Not in my memory. Where one guy looked like the winner at the start

1:56:40 > 1:56:47and the other guy looked totally out of the water and all of a sudden it

1:56:47 > 1:56:54turnaround. It just shows you what can happen. We go back to the break

1:56:54 > 1:57:00of 140 is this morning. It seemed to settle him down. Yes. A high break

1:57:00 > 1:57:06of 36 at 8-6 down? That is not Barry Hawkins. He was obviously

1:57:06 > 1:57:10struggling. Tonight he started to hit the ball better. Looking at

1:57:10 > 1:57:16Ricky's body language. We got a shot of his hand over his face, what

1:57:16 > 1:57:21happens now? Will he have somebody to inspire him? Yes, he will have,

1:57:21 > 1:57:24but the trouble is, they will be distraught as well. The atmosphere

1:57:24 > 1:57:29in the room will be pretty depressing. A feeling as if you have

1:57:29 > 1:57:34just blown a chance. All of a sudden thinking back to how many frames you

1:57:34 > 1:57:43were in front and next minute it has turned around. It is tough to get a

1:57:43 > 1:57:47player back up and firing on all cylinders. Ricky Walden has it all

1:57:48 > 1:57:51to do. Let's bring you up-to-date with this remarkable story of Ronnie

1:57:51 > 1:57:59O'Sullivan. He had a year out as the gale and is bidding to become the

1:57:59 > 1:58:02first man since leaving Hendry to successfully defend his world title.

1:58:02 > 1:58:12They ended the session yesterday with Ronnie O'Sullivan leading by

1:58:12 > 1:58:20

1:58:20 > 1:58:3014-10. We will pick it up with Judge the only red he could lead was the

1:58:30 > 1:58:30

1:58:30 > 1:59:32Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

1:59:32 > 1:59:41would have liked to have been closer black pass the blue? Just about. Or

1:59:41 > 1:59:50he can get on the blue. It would be nice to get the blue out of the way,

1:59:50 > 2:00:00get it back on its own spot. I think it is so important for Judd Trump to

2:00:00 > 2:00:00

2:00:00 > 2:00:48Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:00:48 > 2:00:55stuns and screws, quite comfortable at the moment. The ball does not

2:00:55 > 2:00:59have to travel great distances, which makes the next shot easier.

2:01:00 > 2:01:07The problems will come when he starts playing for those three roads

2:01:07 > 2:01:12near the top cushion. -- those three reds. Do you play the cannon or for

2:01:12 > 2:01:22the loose red? He has the perfect angle to play the cannon if he

2:01:22 > 2:01:28wishes. Will he risk it? That was the shot he could have played.

2:01:28 > 2:01:38You'll have to get himself back into that position to be able to do that.

2:01:38 > 2:01:59

2:01:59 > 2:02:09cannon he could have played a couple of shots ago. He needed to head that

2:02:09 > 2:02:23

2:02:24 > 2:02:33on the other side. He may still have shots along the cushion are

2:02:34 > 2:02:51

2:02:51 > 2:03:01somewhere in between the two reds. You might not be able to get too

2:03:01 > 2:03:02

2:03:02 > 2:03:12close to it. Brian is the better ball for position. Three cushions,

2:03:12 > 2:03:14

2:03:14 > 2:03:18and right in between the reds. What about this for a positional shot?

2:03:18 > 2:03:28That has been one of his great strengths. His positional play has

2:03:28 > 2:03:49

2:03:49 > 2:03:59positional shot. Onto the yellow, and he could take this opening

2:03:59 > 2:04:03

2:04:03 > 2:04:13frame. Has Judd Trump missed his chance in the spring? -- in this

2:04:13 > 2:04:33

2:04:33 > 2:04:43frame? You cannot see Ronnie Messing has played in the World Championship

2:04:43 > 2:04:58

2:04:58 > 2:05:08this year, he won the opening frame. cannot afford to miss a chance

2:05:08 > 2:05:31

2:05:31 > 2:05:38against Ronnie O'Sullivan in the it. I am not sure if this red cuts.

2:05:38 > 2:05:43It is a thin one. It is the easier option. If he can cut the red in the

2:05:43 > 2:05:51middle he would prefer to play that. He will have to trust a little bit

2:05:51 > 2:06:01to look for the positional colour. You cannot be sure of the path of

2:06:01 > 2:06:01

2:06:01 > 2:06:58Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:06:58 > 2:07:08three raids in possible positions. -- 31 point + and three reds in

2:07:08 > 2:07:36

2:07:36 > 2:07:46back to the World Championship and get to the finals since the Darling

2:07:46 > 2:07:49

2:07:49 > 2:07:56in Dublin did it in 1997. It is going to happen. Judd Trump, every

2:07:56 > 2:08:02credit to the young man, he has battled away. Ronnie O'Sullivan has

2:08:02 > 2:08:08raised his game. OK, no big 100s, but boy, has he been an tar stick.

2:08:08 > 2:08:18This has been one of the best matches ever. The only thing that

2:08:18 > 2:08:18

2:08:18 > 2:08:25has spoiled it has it not being closer. That is enough. Every credit

2:08:25 > 2:08:35to Judd Trump, but Ronnie O Sullivan, absolutely superb. He is

2:08:35 > 2:08:45

2:08:45 > 2:08:49in the final to defend his title. He achievements in your career? If you

2:08:49 > 2:08:53had asked me that at the start of the tournament I would have said it

2:08:53 > 2:08:59would be amazing. Once you get involved and you get Mrs under your

2:08:59 > 2:09:09belt, you get confidence and belief and you start to realise it is just

2:09:09 > 2:09:14a game it is just the same for everybody and what has gone before

2:09:14 > 2:09:18does not matter that much. What would it mean to become the first

2:09:18 > 2:09:25player since 1996 to successfully defend the crime? It would be great.

2:09:26 > 2:09:31But like any tournament, I enjoy playing, I enjoyed the competition.

2:09:31 > 2:09:35Obviously, the pressure is more intense. In some ways, this is more

2:09:35 > 2:09:42difficult to enjoy but it is one of those to have on your CV so five is

2:09:42 > 2:09:47better than four. The other day you said this would perhaps be the last

2:09:47 > 2:09:54time you were at the Crucible. Any second thoughts on that? No, not

2:09:54 > 2:10:04really. It was the throw of the dice with me. It has been a good

2:10:04 > 2:10:05

2:10:05 > 2:10:10experience. I will still play smaller events. If it suits me to

2:10:10 > 2:10:17play then I will play. You can never say never. Things always change.

2:10:17 > 2:10:27This result doesn't change what I said before. We will see. It is just

2:10:27 > 2:10:36

2:10:36 > 2:10:42watch. You could have sold tickets times over to see that. Ronnie

2:10:42 > 2:10:46O'Sullivan has been better than Judd Trump in every department. His

2:10:46 > 2:10:53safety play was immaculate. He did not make a century but made

2:10:53 > 2:10:57top-class safety shots. You spoke to him, how is he? I did an interview

2:10:57 > 2:11:04with him. He was pretty candid. It is good to get an insight into how

2:11:04 > 2:11:10he fears about the tournament. It puts every player through a lot. It

2:11:10 > 2:11:14gives us inside about how he feels about his own standard. I tell you

2:11:14 > 2:11:20what has been revealing, the way he is around the arena. He is in their

2:11:20 > 2:11:26punching the air. He enjoys the location but not the pressure with

2:11:26 > 2:11:36the Crucible. He has come back to the hardest tournament to make a

2:11:36 > 2:11:37

2:11:37 > 2:11:43comeback in. He has, into the first one. -- into the worst one. It is

2:11:43 > 2:11:48the most difficult one to win. have also been talking about

2:11:48 > 2:11:54pressure this evening. Terry Griffiths, the 1979 world champion,

2:11:54 > 2:12:01and his roll in Barry Hawkins' recovery tonight. He will talk us

2:12:01 > 2:12:04through pressure. People often ask me what it is like being a

2:12:04 > 2:12:10professional player and how I handled the pressure. I have tried

2:12:10 > 2:12:15to describe my anguish, but the words fall short. I turned

2:12:16 > 2:12:19professional in 1978. I wanted to find out if I could compete against

2:12:20 > 2:12:24the best players in the world. I set myself a target of three years and

2:12:24 > 2:12:34if I failed, I would go back to work. Little did I know at the time

2:12:34 > 2:12:38

2:12:38 > 2:12:48that I was going to experience, in my first season, a trip to the Guild

2:12:48 > 2:12:49

2:12:50 > 2:12:54Hall in Preston. I somehow managed to lose 9-8. I did not feel

2:12:55 > 2:12:58anything. I wanted to say, well done, but nothing came out. There

2:12:58 > 2:13:04was an emptiness inside me that had didn't my mind. It was a horrible

2:13:04 > 2:13:08defeat, overwhelming, because of its potential impact. The career I had

2:13:08 > 2:13:18looked forward to was in jeopardy but also because of self-inflicted,

2:13:18 > 2:13:20

2:13:20 > 2:13:24almost suicidal, the way I lost. This is the moral equivalent of war,

2:13:24 > 2:13:31the stress, wear and tear, and assault on a person's spirit and

2:13:31 > 2:13:34self-esteem are incredible. It takes and a bit -- individual to the outer

2:13:34 > 2:13:37limits of their capabilities and may provide one of the ultimate studies

2:13:37 > 2:13:44in people because it is such a volatile and emotionally draining

2:13:44 > 2:13:49experience. Unless you have experienced this type of emotional

2:13:49 > 2:13:54shock and the bleak interior landscape it creates it is hard to

2:13:54 > 2:13:59comprehend the impact. The memory never leaves you and act as a

2:13:59 > 2:14:09positive and negative force, sparing you to work harder, while also

2:14:09 > 2:14:13

2:14:13 > 2:14:18creating a fear inside that it might happen again. On 27th of April 1979,

2:14:18 > 2:14:23I beat Dennis Taylor 24-16 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield and

2:14:23 > 2:14:28was crowned the champion of the world. It happened only because at

2:14:28 > 2:14:34the moment of deepest despair, I had the strength to stand and confront

2:14:34 > 2:14:39the future instead of wallowing in the past. Many cannot summon the

2:14:39 > 2:14:46strength, they cannot get up, their fight is over. Victory goes to

2:14:46 > 2:14:51another, a stronger competitor. Ambitions can be gruelling and

2:14:51 > 2:15:00hazardous and produce agonising failure along the way. Achieving

2:15:00 > 2:15:03those goals is among one of life's most gratifying experiences. The

2:15:04 > 2:15:13ability to overcome the former to obtain the latter is a fundamental

2:15:14 > 2:15:17

2:15:17 > 2:15:23difference between winners and he is looking for is one good chance

2:15:23 > 2:15:31to get over the line. -- all he is looking for. Whenever the winning

2:15:31 > 2:15:41post is looming large, can he get over it? We feel for Ricky Walden,

2:15:41 > 2:15:47

2:15:47 > 2:15:57because he has got to try and drag of all his fans. He is facing defeat

2:15:57 > 2:16:16

2:16:16 > 2:16:26in the biggest match of his life. mood. They have been battling it out

2:16:26 > 2:16:32

2:16:57 > 2:17:02know what will happen in sport. frame for victory and you feel if

2:17:02 > 2:17:12you do not win the match in the first frame, you get edgy. He will

2:17:12 > 2:17:41

2:17:41 > 2:17:51be looking to finish as quickly as can be hard to affect the run of the

2:17:51 > 2:17:51

2:17:51 > 2:18:59Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:18:59 > 2:19:09cue ball. The case put him out of play this red to the right corner

2:19:09 > 2:19:21

2:19:21 > 2:19:29and hold for the pink. If he can, he should take it on. Can he get

2:19:29 > 2:19:38through to play the green? He tried to hold it. Maybe if it had just

2:19:38 > 2:19:48kissed the red that had run by, he might have been forward on the pink.

2:19:48 > 2:19:48

2:19:48 > 2:19:51I think he must be snookered on the path to the green. I don't know...

2:19:51 > 2:20:01Poking at that, it looks as though he can get to the side cushion but

2:20:01 > 2:20:01

2:20:01 > 2:21:45Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:21:45 > 2:21:55the black as a stopper for the red. has done that a few times tonight,

2:24:39 > 2:24:40

2:24:40 > 2:24:44does not want to take this risk on in such an important frame. In a way

2:24:44 > 2:24:54he is in a constable position. You never thought that, when he was 12-8

2:24:54 > 2:25:58Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:25:58 > 2:26:04behind. Now he just has to be moment, he just seems to be jabbing

2:26:04 > 2:26:09at the ball a little bit. When you play with a trace of side, that is

2:26:09 > 2:26:19just going to push into the object ball. He is not heading its move at

2:26:19 > 2:26:21

2:26:31 > 2:26:45

2:26:45 > 2:26:55pot for Barry Hawkins but looks like become too cautious or it can affect

2:26:55 > 2:27:27

2:27:27 > 2:27:37such a lovely cueist and makes the game look easy, but he is not

2:27:37 > 2:27:47playing well at the moment. Well, he has got people on his side, willing

2:27:47 > 2:28:15

2:28:15 > 2:28:25on its own spot after this? It is going to have to go into the black

2:30:55 > 2:30:55

2:30:55 > 2:31:05better. He has got the pink to work on. He is just happy to get his hand

2:31:05 > 2:31:36

2:31:36 > 2:31:44pink to pot it. Maybe disturbs a cluster of four. It is never easy to

2:31:44 > 2:31:54do it off the pink. You have to find the absolute perfect angle. He has

2:31:55 > 2:32:53Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:32:53 > 2:33:03cleaned, but he seemed to be up very terrific effort. Just needed to stay

2:34:35 > 2:34:41Just put that little bit of extra pace into the cue ball and it sprang

2:37:09 > 2:37:16developed the red, he get position He has a chance at the pink. Right

2:37:17 > 2:37:26middle, far right corner. The pink will put him 63 points in front with

2:37:27 > 2:38:03

2:38:03 > 2:38:13long time. He lost eight frames in a come back to the table. Ricky would

2:38:13 > 2:38:29

2:38:29 > 2:38:39have liked to have potted that got he does really, doesn't he? That

2:38:39 > 2:38:49

2:38:49 > 2:38:59just confirms, I don't think Barry Hawkins will bother coming back to

2:38:59 > 2:39:16

2:39:16 > 2:39:23matter, the frame is over. You get to a point in the match where you

2:39:23 > 2:39:31think, well, I have lost so it can relax you. He played a few poor

2:39:31 > 2:39:38safety shots earlier on, did Ricky. Barry refused a few long pots. When

2:39:38 > 2:39:48he did go for one, he missed it. It has been Ricky who has dictated the

2:39:48 > 2:40:12

2:40:12 > 2:40:20have the balls on and you want to pot them, but you are thinking about

2:40:20 > 2:40:26the next frame. Well, there you go. It has taken a long time. He was

2:40:26 > 2:40:3212-8 in front. Eight frames in a row he stopped the rot at least and

2:40:32 > 2:40:42winds that frame. He is back within three, but Barry Hawkins still only

2:40:42 > 2:40:51

2:40:51 > 2:40:58needs one frame for a place in the in at the minute, but if he can keep

2:40:58 > 2:41:06putting pressure on Barry, the longer it goes on before a chance

2:41:06 > 2:41:11comes the more pressure. He has a lot of support tonight. Yes, and

2:41:11 > 2:41:15that would have inspired them. If he can make Barry Hawkins squirm he

2:41:16 > 2:41:21does not necessarily have to go out attacking. He can perhaps make it

2:41:21 > 2:41:28hard for Barry Hawkins without having to go for every 50-50 shot.

2:41:28 > 2:41:34He is a long way back, but he has a chance. We discussed that Barry

2:41:34 > 2:41:42Hawkins has begin tense matches. Is that the reason why he has hauled

2:41:42 > 2:41:52himself back into this match? found some form, simple as that.

2:41:52 > 2:41:57

2:41:57 > 2:42:07Walden was helping the referee set the balls up as though he really

2:42:07 > 2:42:31

2:42:31 > 2:42:41all out attack. He played the right intimidate Barry a little bit, but

2:42:41 > 2:43:07

2:43:07 > 2:43:12the black into the open. He has no time to think about playing culture

2:43:12 > 2:43:22safe and trying to scramble over the line. Get the coloured balls in play

2:43:22 > 2:43:39

2:43:39 > 2:43:48and then, if you get a chance, it has really played it to the pack and

2:43:48 > 2:43:58screwed back. This one opens the reds out. Not quite got the cue ball

2:43:58 > 2:44:11

2:44:11 > 2:44:21then this second red of the plant has a long way to travel to the far

2:44:21 > 2:44:51

2:44:51 > 2:45:01tricky blackmail. Talk about it. You would think, for Ronnie you

2:45:01 > 2:45:01

2:45:01 > 2:45:50Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:45:50 > 2:46:00of tempters to each centre pocket. A were to knock some of them in, it

2:46:00 > 2:46:03

2:46:03 > 2:46:13three frames. When it gets to a cushion of only two, perhaps you can

2:46:13 > 2:46:13

2:46:13 > 2:46:23reverse. He is not playing the safety. It looks like he has made a

2:46:23 > 2:46:33good job of it. He left a red near the far right corner. There is a Reg

2:46:33 > 2:46:40

2:46:40 > 2:46:50to the left middle. Also not type of situation tried to pot his

2:46:50 > 2:47:27

2:47:27 > 2:47:34it was, but he has under heated slightly. He has left pots on, but

2:47:34 > 2:47:44made it difficult leaving the cue ball near the cushion. Whoever got

2:47:44 > 2:47:56

2:47:56 > 2:48:02in here, you would expect at least if you don't win the match in the

2:48:02 > 2:48:07first frame you start to get a bit twitchy.

2:48:07 > 2:48:17We have shown the statistics, he had not potted a ball for 29 minutes. It

2:48:17 > 2:48:50

2:48:51 > 2:48:55of the table, in the baulk and, just concentrate on the baulk colours and

2:48:55 > 2:49:05the belief of the time being. I don't see any value in coming down

2:49:05 > 2:49:05

2:49:05 > 2:49:53Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:49:53 > 2:49:59can make. Barry Hawkins was probably in his dressing room trying his

2:49:59 > 2:50:05hardest not to think ahead that he has won the match. It has given

2:50:05 > 2:50:10Ricky Walden the chance to clear his mind. A complete reversal to what

2:50:10 > 2:50:20was happening before the interval. It looks like Barry that is a little

2:50:20 > 2:50:41

2:50:41 > 2:50:51nicely there though. That is all you want to do in the situations, think

2:50:51 > 2:50:51

2:50:51 > 2:52:00Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:52:00 > 2:52:05down for the black. He cleared most think about getting a nice angle on

2:52:05 > 2:52:09the back to play a cannon into the red and pink. Bring the red and pink

2:52:09 > 2:52:19interplay and then he would not need the two awkward reds on the

2:52:19 > 2:52:35

2:52:35 > 2:52:45It is OK, just screw off the side cushion for the red in the middle.

2:52:45 > 2:52:55

2:52:55 > 2:53:05He would've just liked angle to the black and finishing dead

2:53:05 > 2:53:20

2:53:20 > 2:53:30reds, two colours. This red is easy enough. He looks to have an angle

2:53:30 > 2:53:50

2:53:51 > 2:53:56where he can play for the black. Now is miserable. -- anything is

2:53:56 > 2:54:06unmissable at this stage of the match. The red next to the pink may

2:54:06 > 2:54:16

2:54:16 > 2:54:26part into the green pocket. He has approach. He has bought one of those

2:54:26 > 2:55:05

2:55:05 > 2:55:15play a red safety shots off the side here is over think this situation.

2:55:15 > 2:55:41

2:55:42 > 2:55:47He has three awkward reds, a 53 nudging the black towards the top

2:55:47 > 2:55:57cushion. Makes things even more awkward, should Barry get an

2:55:57 > 2:56:31

2:56:31 > 2:56:41then. It looked as though he was going to get a double kiss.

2:56:41 > 2:56:54

2:56:54 > 2:57:04I wonder if there is any value thinking. At the moment, Barry has a

2:57:04 > 2:57:23

2:57:23 > 2:57:27what stopped the cue ball running through as he would have liked. He

2:57:27 > 2:57:34just get the feeling at the moment that Barry is not going to be

2:57:34 > 2:57:44tempted by anything too difficult. You can't see him taking on the red

2:57:44 > 2:57:44

2:57:44 > 2:58:31Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

2:58:31 > 2:58:37horrible safety shot, so I can't see him taking this on. Can he trickle

2:58:37 > 2:58:47in behind and play the snooker? No, he could not get in behind so he

2:58:47 > 2:59:25

2:59:25 > 2:59:34into playing a safety. The red that is near the right middle pocket, if

2:59:34 > 2:59:43that is not possible, he needs to be careful it does not run into the

2:59:43 > 2:59:53green. Once again, he has just avoided a double kiss. There is a

2:59:53 > 2:59:54

2:59:54 > 3:00:04gap between green and blue and there is a pot. If he knocks this in he

3:00:04 > 3:00:04

3:00:04 > 3:01:00Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:01:00 > 3:01:10be a free and if he knocks it in. -- a free when. Good pot, right in the

3:01:10 > 3:01:16

3:01:16 > 3:01:26remaining. If he parts the black he will go 60 points in front. Snooker

3:01:26 > 3:01:26

3:01:26 > 3:02:38Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:02:38 > 3:02:48will be needed. If he plays the pink four blacks, he can tie. That is a

3:02:48 > 3:02:49

3:02:49 > 3:02:59tall order. I could not refuse the cut on the black. The black to leave

3:02:59 > 3:02:59

3:02:59 > 3:03:58Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:03:58 > 3:04:06your opponent needing eight snooker, adjacent to the black spot area. As

3:04:06 > 3:04:16long as he covered the yellow it was going to be a decent shot. The red

3:04:16 > 3:04:16

3:04:16 > 3:05:15Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:05:15 > 3:05:20behind the black is the only one important that he covers the one on

3:05:20 > 3:05:26the right-hand side of the table near the baulk, otherwise he will

3:05:26 > 3:05:36leave an easy shot for his opponent. It is made more difficult by the

3:05:36 > 3:05:39

3:05:39 > 3:05:49fact that he has come so close to red? No, he hasn't. I think this is

3:05:49 > 3:05:54

3:05:54 > 3:06:04worth taking on. It is straight. He only needs the red, pots the red, he

3:06:04 > 3:06:04

3:06:04 > 3:07:06Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:07:06 > 3:07:14only needs to snooker is required. normal safety shot would be of the

3:07:14 > 3:07:24-- off the red near the baulk line. He is thinking, he does not want to

3:07:24 > 3:07:43

3:07:44 > 3:07:53that and get position on the black. That is probably the best result he

3:07:54 > 3:07:54

3:07:54 > 3:10:31Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:10:31 > 3:10:40won't bother coming back to the nowhere, is flying his way back in

3:10:40 > 3:10:50this match. -- is clawing his way back in. He is back to within two

3:10:50 > 3:10:57

3:10:57 > 3:11:01three frames. It is funny how it reverts and the psychology changes.

3:11:01 > 3:11:04One minute you cannot when, all of a sudden, he is planning a bag. The

3:11:04 > 3:11:09winning line is still there for Barry Hawkins and he still can't get

3:11:09 > 3:11:15over it. How tough is that? You know you are one frame away from a World

3:11:15 > 3:11:18Championship final. It is not the worst feeling as a snooker player.

3:11:18 > 3:11:25The worst is having a bad session and not thinking you have done

3:11:25 > 3:11:29justice to yourself. The feeling out there, when you feel as if you have

3:11:29 > 3:11:36stalled and the other guy comes back, you feel like all eyes are on

3:11:36 > 3:11:39every shot you play. You feel like you have got to fight, and the fact

3:11:39 > 3:11:46that people are waiting for another mistake and you are thinking, if I

3:11:46 > 3:11:52missed this, the crowd will react, and it is hard to get those things

3:11:52 > 3:11:56out of your mind and play competitively. You start to

3:11:56 > 3:12:04anticipate your own misses if you are not careful. Strength of

3:12:04 > 3:12:14character comes into the equation, doesn't it? Massively so. 16-14 is

3:12:14 > 3:12:29

3:12:29 > 3:12:39never quite as bad. 16-15 is the last time he breaks off this

3:12:39 > 3:12:42

3:12:42 > 3:12:52evening. If he breaks off again, it will be a decider. When we went to

3:12:52 > 3:12:56

3:12:57 > 3:13:03the mid-session interval, it looked like the end of the race. Whoever he

3:13:03 > 3:13:12spoke to at the interval or met up with has done a good job. They have

3:13:12 > 3:13:22got his mind back on track. He seems to have got his focus back on what

3:13:22 > 3:13:22

3:13:22 > 3:14:09Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:14:09 > 3:14:19perfect angle on the yellow. It is down the right-hand side of the

3:14:19 > 3:14:56

3:14:56 > 3:15:06to 16 frames that he has got there first. He has an angle to disturb

3:15:06 > 3:15:28

3:15:28 > 3:15:35He was frightened, maybe, of screwing too far back and finishing

3:15:35 > 3:15:45your location. That is why I would favour following the cue ball

3:15:45 > 3:15:45

3:15:45 > 3:17:55Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:17:55 > 3:18:05through. There is so much more problem, a big target on one

3:18:05 > 3:18:41

3:18:41 > 3:18:49condition. He just has to be careful right-hand side but it is fraught

3:18:49 > 3:18:57with danger. He can get through to the reds, just on the left-hand side

3:18:57 > 3:19:03of the paper. It is one of those, you have got to catch it very thin.

3:19:04 > 3:19:13As I say, going down the other side of the table, back to baulk, is

3:19:14 > 3:19:51

3:19:51 > 3:19:59pink there was an age, but that is too had a shot. He has to be careful

3:19:59 > 3:20:09not to run into the black. In an effort to avoid the Blackie said a

3:20:09 > 3:20:09

3:20:09 > 3:21:26Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:21:26 > 3:21:36pink and black are out of angle on the blue. After the next

3:21:36 > 3:21:38

3:21:38 > 3:21:48red he has to get an angle on the blue to go into the pink. There are

3:21:48 > 3:21:54

3:21:54 > 3:22:04two open reds, but they could be could bring the pink into play. Does

3:22:04 > 3:22:04

3:22:04 > 3:23:09Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:23:09 > 3:23:19he feel he has a good enough angle pink one at the moment. It blocks up

3:23:19 > 3:23:39

3:23:39 > 3:23:49to reds and will not halt its self like this in his career. What an

3:23:49 > 3:23:49

3:23:49 > 3:25:00Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:25:00 > 3:25:05knew it would kiss the other red and give him control of the cue ball. He

3:25:05 > 3:25:15needs to run past the blue, and he has done it and it seems perfect.

3:25:15 > 3:25:15

3:25:15 > 3:26:46Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:26:46 > 3:26:52The chance is there for frame and ball? Another red, another blue. He

3:26:52 > 3:27:02has played at inch perfect. It looks as though Barry Hawkins is booking

3:27:02 > 3:27:16

3:27:16 > 3:27:26sessions, he didn't play anything like you can play but he stuck at

3:27:26 > 3:27:26

3:27:26 > 3:28:06Apology for the loss of subtitles for 47 seconds

3:28:06 > 3:28:11it. This morning he was by far the nicely on the pink. Ricky Walden

3:28:11 > 3:28:21will be very, very disappointed. He led throughout the match. There were

3:28:21 > 3:28:33

3:28:33 > 3:28:43difference, 35 remaining. He will have to suffer a bit longer. To

3:28:43 > 3:29:00

3:29:00 > 3:29:07snooker is needed. -- two snookers needed. It will be very difficult

3:29:07 > 3:29:11for Ricky Walden to win it, but if he were to get snooker and out of

3:29:11 > 3:29:21that snooker got the bonus of a free ball, one snooker would be

3:29:21 > 3:29:30

3:29:30 > 3:29:34Walden to get over losing this match.

3:29:34 > 3:29:44This is the biggest tournament in the game by a long way. What a

3:29:44 > 3:29:50

3:29:50 > 3:29:55chance he has had to go all of the evening, it is a daunting prospect

3:29:55 > 3:29:58to play Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final, but what an occasion.

3:29:58 > 3:30:08He has beaten Ding Junhui, got to the final and will have nothing to

3:30:08 > 3:30:12lose. He could just go out, easier said than done, to enjoy it. What an

3:30:12 > 3:30:19occasion to play the best player of the world over two days at the

3:30:19 > 3:30:29Crucible. Yes, it would be a dream come true. If he knocks this red, it

3:30:29 > 3:30:30

3:30:30 > 3:30:35will be a reality. In its goes! What a big sigh of relief because there

3:30:36 > 3:30:40must have been times during this match that Barry Hawkins thought he

3:30:40 > 3:30:50had blown it completely. He stuck in their, he hung on when a lot of

3:30:50 > 3:30:57

3:30:57 > 3:31:03people would have let their heads Ricky Walden wants to shake his hand

3:31:03 > 3:31:08and he says that is enough. Great sportsmanship. Ricky Walden will be

3:31:08 > 3:31:18upset that it did not take advantage. Look at the delight on

3:31:18 > 3:31:20Barry Hawkins. Great competitor. Now he is in the final at the Betfair

3:31:20 > 3:31:25World Snooker Championship. Ricky Walden will go away disappointed and

3:31:25 > 3:31:32it will take him awhile to get over it, he has two days to look forward

3:31:33 > 3:31:42to Barry Hawkins. He is in the final! He beat Ricky Walden by

3:31:43 > 3:31:45

3:31:45 > 3:31:50Hawkins. And in brace from Terry Griffiths. Terry said to me earlier,

3:31:50 > 3:31:55the most important frame is the next frame. You get the feeling that

3:31:55 > 3:31:58mentality is what Barry Hawkins took into the Crucible this evening.

3:31:58 > 3:32:05had persistence all the way through that. He has ended up being the

3:32:05 > 3:32:12winner. 6-2 he was down after the first session, but somehow he has

3:32:12 > 3:32:17fought his way back. At one stage, he did not look like the same player

3:32:17 > 3:32:21from previous rounds. Ricky Walden got off to an incredibly great art.

3:32:21 > 3:32:29There were couple of frames that got scrappy. Perhaps that helped to some

3:32:29 > 3:32:34degree. It really looked like Barry Hawkins would be down and out. To

3:32:34 > 3:32:40turn it around, what a fantastic performance. Spare a thought for

3:32:40 > 3:32:45Ricky Walden. He walked off quietly.

3:32:45 > 3:32:51Burial Hawkins is waiting to talk to Bob Walker.

3:32:51 > 3:32:58You almost look shellshocked. can't believe it, I really can't. I

3:32:58 > 3:33:08feel like I am in a dream. I am so over the moon, it is unbelievable.

3:33:08 > 3:33:08

3:33:08 > 3:33:12Things like this don't happen to me, to be honest. Well, they do now.

3:33:12 > 3:33:17think everyone appreciates what an emotional moment this is. You have

3:33:17 > 3:33:21been a pro for 17 years and it took you five years to win your first

3:33:21 > 3:33:27match of the Crucible. You knocked out Mark Selby, took apart Ding

3:33:27 > 3:33:31Junhui, how did you get back into this match? To be honest, I don't

3:33:31 > 3:33:39know. The way I started off, I lost my game completely. I didn't settle

3:33:39 > 3:33:44at all. I kept digging deep and so many things, setbacks, you know. I

3:33:44 > 3:33:48just sort don't give up and I kept fighting. All of a sudden, things

3:33:48 > 3:33:58started turning round and I found my game again. I started playing

3:33:58 > 3:34:03better. I will need to play even better, but I just can't believe it.

3:34:03 > 3:34:08I don't know how much more I can take. You have to come back out and

3:34:08 > 3:34:12do it all tomorrow. You had a massive reception. I think people

3:34:12 > 3:34:15appreciated how you dug deep, but there must be so many emotions in

3:34:15 > 3:34:23your mind and so many people who have helped cheer on this unexpected

3:34:23 > 3:34:28journey. I can't thank everyone enough, to be honest. My manager,

3:34:28 > 3:34:34everyone. My coach Terry has been unbelievable. Everyone back at

3:34:34 > 3:34:41home, I know they are supporting me. My family, everybody. It has been a

3:34:41 > 3:34:46long, hard road. Now everybody has been rewarded. Everyone will be

3:34:46 > 3:34:52buzzing. I have nothing to lose tomorrow now. I will go out there

3:34:52 > 3:34:57and enjoy it. You never know, see what happens. It is important to

3:34:57 > 3:35:02remember, tomorrow is about you as well as Ronnie O'Sullivan. We will

3:35:02 > 3:35:12see you in the final tomorrow see you in the final tomorrow

3:35:12 > 3:35:12

3:35:12 > 3:35:17What a lovely interview. We have had some wonderful iconic images at the

3:35:17 > 3:35:27snooker championship this year. That has to be one of them. Let's look at

3:35:27 > 3:35:31

3:35:31 > 3:35:38the head-to-head between our meetings. His last win was in 2008.

3:35:38 > 3:35:43The Rocket 's biggest win and 9-1 victory. They have never met here at

3:35:43 > 3:35:47the championship. Terrific stuff. These are live shots of Barry in the

3:35:47 > 3:35:51dressing room. He is absolutely over the moon. Going back to iconic

3:35:51 > 3:35:58images, I think about when he punched the air when he realised he

3:35:58 > 3:36:02had beaten Selby. These are lovely pictures. What a feeling he has got

3:36:02 > 3:36:09there. He said in the interview he had no game for the first two

3:36:09 > 3:36:15sessions and he has come back and got rewards for sticking in there.

3:36:15 > 3:36:21He won his first ranking open in July 2012. What a season. That is

3:36:21 > 3:36:27right, he has come of age. He has always been a hard worker. He has

3:36:27 > 3:36:31one small problem ahead, he has to get to sleep tonight. Honestly, he

3:36:31 > 3:36:40needs to find something to do for a few hours because his brain will be

3:36:40 > 3:36:48buzzing away. Do a crossword, listen to music, something.

3:36:48 > 3:36:53He just said, he is buzzing. From his perspective, he deserves

3:36:53 > 3:37:01everything he has got. How you get up for the final, you have to try

3:37:01 > 3:37:05and enjoy it. When it starts again, you have another mountain to climb.

3:37:05 > 3:37:08What is incredible, you have Ricky Walden who had the fantastic start

3:37:08 > 3:37:18and we questioned whether Barry had run out of puff because he had big

3:37:18 > 3:37:21

3:37:21 > 3:37:24games. We thought he would run out of energy. He probably had for a

3:37:24 > 3:37:30couple of sessions. He did not settle into the venue well and then

3:37:30 > 3:37:33got to grips in the third frame. All of a sudden he started making a

3:37:33 > 3:37:38couple of centuries. You could see that Ricky was finding it difficult

3:37:38 > 3:37:43and then he went on that run. It was a fantastic performance. A study in

3:37:43 > 3:37:49persistence. Any young players who think you can't come back from being

3:37:49 > 3:37:55behind, there is an example. Do you think the break of 140 was

3:37:55 > 3:38:00the turning point? It may have been, but it may have been that Ricky

3:38:00 > 3:38:03could not extend his lead. What mattered the most, Barry found an

3:38:03 > 3:38:10extra gear and Ricky didn't. It doesn't matter how you start the

3:38:10 > 3:38:18match, it is how you finish. We all know how tough the game is. Ricky

3:38:18 > 3:38:23Walden will know the same way. Ricky Walden, we have to speak about

3:38:23 > 3:38:30him. Lovely pictures of him in Barry's dressing room. Two proper

3:38:30 > 3:38:40lads and to proper professionals. will take some effort to beat

3:38:40 > 3:38:41

3:38:41 > 3:38:46O'Sullivan. I agree. We have our finalists. One the O'Sullivan taking
