:01:01. > :01:18.There has been a lot of attention on me with the centuries. We have had a
:01:19. > :01:25.lot of great matches, we have reached some finals, we got the
:01:26. > :01:31.better of each other sometimes. I want to attack, make big breaks, I
:01:32. > :01:36.want the crowd to really enjoy it. Every year, I come out, I really try
:01:37. > :01:42.to win it, but people say to me, you will do it one day. But while I am
:01:43. > :01:48.in the tournament, I still have a chance. Good evening, our first
:01:49. > :01:51.semifinal in this chair's 2014 Dafabet World Championship was a
:01:52. > :01:55.sprint, with Ronnie O'Sullivan sprinting across the line and
:01:56. > :02:00.getting themselves a day off before the final. This is more of a
:02:01. > :02:04.long-distance race, it is turning into a marathon. Not much separating
:02:05. > :02:08.the two players in the world rankings, number one playing number
:02:09. > :02:23.three, but absolutely nothing at all between them after three sessions so
:02:24. > :02:29.far in what has an epic match. -- what was an epic match.
:02:30. > :02:43.You cannot do any better than win the frame with a century break! He
:02:44. > :02:56.didn't play to pot that! What a shot! Tarisio pot. -- terrific. You
:02:57. > :03:06.know what happens with this kind of shot? Played it well. What a shot
:03:07. > :03:20.that was! He will be disappointed to have missed that. Mark Selby is two
:03:21. > :03:31.frames in front again! He plays that shot so well.
:03:32. > :03:45.Is it there? Is it there? How close was that!
:03:46. > :03:53.Neil Robertson has done what he needed to do, it is 12-12!
:03:54. > :04:05.First of 17 well hugger played in the final tomorrow. These two know
:04:06. > :04:10.exactly what this is like. I hope you do not have any plans before
:04:11. > :04:15.closing time, because we reckon this has late-night written all over it?
:04:16. > :04:21.Yes, I cannot see anyone pulling away and winning convincingly
:04:22. > :04:24.tonight. Head you characterise this matter are those who have not
:04:25. > :04:32.watched some of it before? -- how'd you characterise? It has been
:04:33. > :04:39.intense, nobody has been able to keep a foothold. A couple of chances
:04:40. > :04:44.for Mark Selby have gone begging and Neil Robertson just will not go
:04:45. > :04:53.away! Do you detect any weaknesses in either man's game that the other
:04:54. > :04:57.could exploit? For Neil Robertson to play well tonight, needs to be more
:04:58. > :05:02.aggressive. He just cannot be drawn into what he is being drawn into.
:05:03. > :05:11.Looking forward to the game? Absolutely. We reckon this is going
:05:12. > :05:17.to be an absolute classic. Let's go to Rob Walker.
:05:18. > :05:24.Thank you. What a night we have in store, this could be absolutely
:05:25. > :05:28.sensational! It is the last session of snooker before tomorrow's 2014
:05:29. > :05:32.Dafabet World Championship final. They both deserve to be there, there
:05:33. > :05:36.is nothing between them and they have everything at stake tonight.
:05:37. > :05:50.CHEERING Please welcome, one of the most
:05:51. > :05:54.colourful characters on the circuit, he has nerves of steel on the big
:05:55. > :05:59.stage, three times the Masters champion, and here he is, seven
:06:00. > :06:04.years after his first Crucible final, he is five frames away from
:06:05. > :06:07.his second appearance in the sport's biggest showdown, he is
:06:08. > :06:14.ready to rise to the occasion once again, as always, with a big smile
:06:15. > :06:19.on his face, here comes the Jester from Leicester, Mark Selby!
:06:20. > :06:44.CHEERING And his opponent, what a fabulous
:06:45. > :06:48.fortnight so far for this proud Australian, he has gone all the way
:06:49. > :06:53.here once before and has the talent to do so again. He completed the
:06:54. > :06:58.triple Crown with a great win in York in the UK in September and here
:06:59. > :07:03.he has become a history maker with 100 centuries in a single season,
:07:04. > :07:07.but this is about these five frames and another World Championship
:07:08. > :07:14.final, this is the world number one, can you hear the Thunder from Down
:07:15. > :07:25.Under, here comes the and, Neil Robertson! -- here comes the century
:07:26. > :07:42.man. CHEERING This has got to be finished this
:07:43. > :07:43.evening, a possible nine frames to be got through, the first to reach
:07:44. > :07:59.17 well meet Ronnie O'Sullivan. Good evening, this could be a long
:08:00. > :08:09.one, this afternoon, obviously, Mark Selby was leading by two frames. It
:08:10. > :08:16.is going to be a battle. Both players shake hands. A fantastic
:08:17. > :08:23.atmosphere in here. I am sure the players will rise to the occasion.
:08:24. > :08:29.Mark Selby breaks off. Here we go. The last session of this second
:08:30. > :08:39.semifinal. Ronnie O'Sullivan is awaiting the winner. That would be
:08:40. > :08:47.tomorrow afternoon. The match time, nine hours, coming up to 60
:08:48. > :09:09.minutes, Willy. You cannot truly separate these two.
:09:10. > :09:20.The statistics, all the way, it is incredible how close they are. It is
:09:21. > :09:25.amazing with those statistics being so close that the Robertson only had
:09:26. > :09:31.the lead once when you take a 2-1 lead. Since then, Mark Selby has
:09:32. > :09:40.always had his nose in front. 5-3, the first session, which Mark Selby
:09:41. > :09:44.was disappointed. He has had every chance to be three or four frames
:09:45. > :09:50.clear, now that I missed to knuckle down and make no mistake. -- now is
:09:51. > :11:03.the time to knuckle down. The beautiful Crucible Theatre
:11:04. > :11:10.arena, and what a wonderful camera angle that is. Fantastic. Both
:11:11. > :11:13.players got a wonderful reception as they came in to the theatre. A great
:11:14. > :11:46.crowd as always. Looks like you would be tempted with
:11:47. > :11:53.this long straight red. He hit it really well. When ever you do that
:11:54. > :11:58.first attacking shot you're going to play, you always know that you are
:11:59. > :12:05.cueing well. The first long pot, when you hit the jaws, that is like
:12:06. > :12:15.at least you know you're paying OK. There is the bounce. He has left
:12:16. > :12:29.Neil Robertson a possible here into the right centre pocket.
:12:30. > :13:35.He is OK. He hasn't left anything. I thought the red to the right of the
:13:36. > :13:38.pack may have been on. But again, just a safety shot from Neil
:13:39. > :13:47.Robertson. This has been the pattern of the match so far. Both top
:13:48. > :13:51.quality in match play, and of course, safety aspect of the game.
:13:52. > :14:07.The average frame time is 23 minutes.
:14:08. > :14:17.When they are both playing at their best, the average Tatung condemns a
:14:18. > :14:27.battle -- the average shot time comes down a bit. This is the
:14:28. > :14:31.biggest stage ever, centre-stage at the World Championship and Ronnie
:14:32. > :15:35.O'Sullivan awaits, doesn't get bigger than that.
:15:36. > :15:46.He is just a little bit concerned of knocking that red close to the
:15:47. > :15:53.yellow pack up the table. He does not want to leave the Robertson with
:15:54. > :16:18.a shot to nothing. -- Neil Robertson.
:16:19. > :16:23.Both of these players would have liked to have had an opening by now,
:16:24. > :16:36.but it has just been a series of safety shot. Mark Selby has had some
:16:37. > :16:39.long pots also. He could play an aggressive safety shot of that red
:16:40. > :17:03.to the left of the pink and try to bring the cue ball almost in a Zorro
:17:04. > :17:08.type of angle. This red is on but it would have been easier to kiss with
:17:09. > :17:11.the brown. Mark Selby will try to get around the back of the black but
:17:12. > :17:18.he will have to stun lowdown on the ball. Usually if you miss it, you
:17:19. > :17:27.have to hit it thick. But right into the heart of the pocket. Does he
:17:28. > :17:29.have the brown in the middle? Yes, he does, and the red will pot in the
:17:30. > :18:21.other middle. Who will be disappointed with that?
:18:22. > :18:31.He wanted to make sure that he was low on the blue. He has got the
:18:32. > :18:35.wrong angle on the blue. Just pot it and leave the red to the right into
:18:36. > :18:58.this corner pocket. This could have been easier...
:18:59. > :19:09.I thought he might roll that in slowly with a lot of side to drift
:19:10. > :19:14.around the black. He hit it thick. Always when you play with right-hand
:19:15. > :19:16.side it would push into the ball a little bit. Would like to have
:19:17. > :19:55.scored much more from that chance. He would have been delighted to have
:19:56. > :20:01.finished nicely on the black. He very poor shot, that one. -- a very
:20:02. > :20:14.poor shot. He was a very happy man earlier on
:20:15. > :20:19.when he had his son Alexander in the auditorium before play started, and
:20:20. > :20:25.he was taking pictures. He didn't want to leave the seat! He wanted to
:20:26. > :20:29.stay there for a little while. I want to say there! I am not going
:20:30. > :20:47.anywhere! I'm going to play for you, dad!
:20:48. > :20:56.That is about the best he could do with that. Thankfully, the Black has
:20:57. > :21:01.not gone to safe, but he has left Mark Selby a shot into the left-hand
:21:02. > :21:06.corner pocket. There is a pathway back to blue or possibly baulk
:21:07. > :21:37.colours. Now, the safety shot becomes more
:21:38. > :21:44.and more important now that the reds are open.
:21:45. > :22:34.The next two safety shot could be very telling indeed.
:22:35. > :22:42.He has been very fortunate. If that cue ball had travelled a couple of
:22:43. > :22:44.more inches, it would have been a straightforward shot for Mark Selby.
:22:45. > :22:49.He played a good safety shot but he has also been keen to keep the cue
:22:50. > :23:00.ball at the opposite side of the table. Down the left-hand side. He
:23:01. > :23:04.has got to play his shot something along those lines, because he does
:23:05. > :23:10.not want to leave this red which is close to the bottom pocket. He needs
:23:11. > :23:13.to be very careful here. That is exactly where he wants the cue
:23:14. > :23:42.ball. This is not good. He will not be
:23:43. > :23:48.happy. He needed to come down a bit straighter on that line. Now, a
:23:49. > :23:52.chance for Neil Robertson. If he could take a chance with a cannon
:23:53. > :23:56.into the red to hold for the black and play the stun straight into the
:23:57. > :24:04.red, as long as he doesn't get full ball, he will on the black. Got the
:24:05. > :24:11.kiss, how will you finish this time? Not an easy pot.
:24:12. > :24:19.We will let you make a reminder. I do not think it will pot. Straight
:24:20. > :26:21.behind, you would probably play it, but not from that angle.
:26:22. > :26:28.I think this has been the pattern of the match, both players with a high
:26:29. > :26:32.quality of safety play, but I feel that whoever will be the aggressor
:26:33. > :26:38.of the two, they will come out on top tonight. Have to play a bit more
:26:39. > :26:49.aggressively even with safety shot, take some more pots one. -- more
:26:50. > :27:04.pots one. The standard of safety is very high,
:27:05. > :27:10.which is what you would expect from two of the best safety players in
:27:11. > :27:14.the world. However, they need to make something happen, you cannot
:27:15. > :27:19.wait for a mistake for ever. I am sure the first one that does that
:27:20. > :27:26.will take control, and that is an example of just that. A wonderful
:27:27. > :27:42.pot, held for the black. This is a good chance for Neil
:27:43. > :28:35.Robertson. A couple of loose reds available.
:28:36. > :28:47.Here's a little bit slow on this red.
:28:48. > :28:55.Sometimes there is a good kick. That was a good kick. It takes the speed
:28:56. > :28:58.out of the cue ball. Normally you are horrified, but that may have
:28:59. > :29:26.gone to a fraction too far without the kick.
:29:27. > :29:37.The middle read of the three, just in line with pink spot. -- middle
:29:38. > :29:41.red. If you can get the cue ball into that position, he has the angle
:29:42. > :29:48.to get into the reds if he wishes. He has decided to go into them. How
:29:49. > :30:01.does this look? Not too bad. Landed on the bottom red, perfect.
:30:02. > :30:11.A horrendous kick there as a phone goes off. It is a nice tune! It must
:30:12. > :30:15.be horrible when you cannot see which pocket it is in all which
:30:16. > :30:28.handbag. There is the kick as you see there.
:30:29. > :30:36.39 points in front. If he goes on to win this frame, it is the second
:30:37. > :30:47.time in the whole match that he has ever led. The first was at 2-1.
:30:48. > :30:55.You have always got to make sure you get top side of the blue here. You
:30:56. > :31:13.do not want to finish short. That is exactly what he has done.
:31:14. > :31:24.He hits those shots so good all the time. You could see the white
:31:25. > :32:07.suddenly starts speeding up as it gets towards the condition.
:32:08. > :32:22.Just this black now to put the frame beyond doubt. Excellent. Good play
:32:23. > :32:31.from Neil Robertson. It all came from that wonderful long pot. The
:32:32. > :32:41.more aggressive of the two players will create chances.
:32:42. > :33:05.Robertson takes the lead for only the second time in the match.
:33:06. > :33:14.What a graft this has been. How cautiously have both men started
:33:15. > :33:21.this session? Very. There was a chance when Neil could have played a
:33:22. > :33:28.safety shot, and attacking shot. He chose to play the shot that was a
:33:29. > :33:34.containing shot. The containing safety shot was made for this match.
:33:35. > :33:41.Is there a dangerous case that they are cancelling each other out? They
:33:42. > :33:47.are playing very cagily in that department. Both players are saying
:33:48. > :33:52.they do not want to force the issue. But the shot that Neil Robertson did
:33:53. > :33:58.take on was an excellent long pot. There was an element of safety but
:33:59. > :34:02.it has been cagily. It has but it has also been a very long day. They
:34:03. > :34:09.were out there at ten o'clock. When you get to the last session of the
:34:10. > :34:12.semifinal but nerves have got to be playing a part. Notts match at the
:34:13. > :34:14.beginning of the match but as the night goes on nerves will play big
:34:15. > :34:41.part. Ronnie O'Sullivan has had a day off
:34:42. > :34:47.today. It will be interesting to see how much it will take out of them
:34:48. > :34:52.going into the final tomorrow. Ronnie is already in there waiting
:34:53. > :34:55.the winner. He will be nice and fresh. These guys could be here
:34:56. > :35:07.quite late. At least there is no morning session
:35:08. > :35:11.tomorrow so they can have a bit of a lie in and hopefully get a good
:35:12. > :35:32.night's sleep. One of them will have to push the
:35:33. > :35:39.boat out. It looks like Robertson has decided to do that. Ronnie has
:35:40. > :35:40.not had a bad session yet. It will happen at some stage, you would
:35:41. > :35:50.think. Can he just stunned that red in? He
:35:51. > :37:50.is using the rest. Watch the cue ball spin. Wonderful
:37:51. > :38:15.slow motion camera. All through the Championship, Neil
:38:16. > :38:22.Robertson has had the opportunity to turn the switch. He played flawless
:38:23. > :38:25.snooker. He never missed a ball in the last four frames against Judd
:38:26. > :38:32.Trump. He must have been dumbfounded. It looks like he in
:38:33. > :38:33.that frame of mind at the moment. Mark Selby will have to push boat
:38:34. > :39:21.out. The red has gone close to the middle
:39:22. > :39:29.pocket. He did not get enough top spin on
:39:30. > :40:12.the cue ball. APPLAUSE
:40:13. > :40:29.Length with the cue ball. That little nudge on the brown. I
:40:30. > :40:59.half chance now for Mark. APPLAUSE
:41:00. > :41:07.40 LO that will give him a little bit of confidence.
:41:08. > :41:12.That was a great pot but look at the way he kisses into the black. That
:41:13. > :41:49.has slowed the cue ball down. He is unlucky. The pace he played
:41:50. > :41:51.that yellow, I mean, you would have to say you would have something a
:41:52. > :42:04.little bit easier than this. Good pot and a nice kiss on the
:42:05. > :42:26.blue. He must have been a little bit
:42:27. > :43:04.downhearted but he potted a great red in the middle.
:43:05. > :43:16.Just playing for choice of Red Sea. He can play on the pink and blue at
:43:17. > :43:29.the moment. -- a choice of reds here.
:43:30. > :43:38.He would rather risk hitting it too hard. He can just roll this black
:43:39. > :44:46.in. This undoubtedly is the best Mark
:44:47. > :45:20.Selby has played all season. That has taken the pace out of the
:45:21. > :45:30.cue ball. Not so straightforward now. He is blessed with a lot of cue
:45:31. > :45:47.power when he uses the rest. APPLAUSE
:45:48. > :46:37.What a beautiful shot. It doesn't get better than this.
:46:38. > :46:50.This break from Selby has been right out of the top drawer.
:46:51. > :47:19.Decided to go for a blue. The brown is off the spot as well.
:47:20. > :47:31.What an excellent break this has been.
:47:32. > :47:44.He has made 48 centuries this season.
:47:45. > :48:40.The black goes in for a wonderful break of 86. And the cue ball goes
:48:41. > :49:47.in as well. More importantly, Mark Selby wins the frame.
:49:48. > :49:56.We saw Mark Selby's break in the previous frame which was right in
:49:57. > :50:03.the top drawer. It all started that fabulous long red. Once again, you
:50:04. > :50:08.see this magnificent arena. I have not played for 15 years and I still
:50:09. > :50:53.get a buzz when I see a picture. Nothing better.
:50:54. > :50:58.I think we have got a match on, ladies and gentlemen. It will be the
:50:59. > :51:26.last man standing. Anything but a full-ball contact, he
:51:27. > :51:44.will be OK. That is the problem when you have
:51:45. > :51:50.got the flat-back pack. He just caught that one rightful ball. If he
:51:51. > :51:51.ever you catch one of those front reds full ball, you have got no
:51:52. > :52:31.chance. Mark was saying just before this
:52:32. > :52:39.session when I had a word with him, he said Neil keeps knocking long
:52:40. > :52:41.ones. He has done that already. I said, leave them on the cushioning,
:52:42. > :52:51.he will have a bit of trouble them. He did not take the red on, he
:52:52. > :54:56.played a safety. I'm surprised he did not try to get
:54:57. > :55:36.back to the baulk here. There is a bit of movement in the
:55:37. > :55:48.crowd. He is just steadying himself. Half a chance here for Mark Selby.
:55:49. > :55:54.The top door just opened as he was on the shot. He has spotted it. A
:55:55. > :56:36.super pot. He didn't hit the centre of the
:56:37. > :57:36.white. Nothing better than a late night
:57:37. > :57:42.when the snooker is excellent which it is at the moment. We saw the pink
:57:43. > :58:07.coming away from the pack. Only 14 from that excellent opening
:58:08. > :59:06.red. He will be disappointed. He has got to be careful. It could
:59:07. > :59:17.go over the left-hand corner pocket. There is another red he could clip
:59:18. > :59:26.REFEREE: Foul and a miss. A missed call. I'm sure Neil can have a go at
:59:27. > :00:00.this red. Michaela Tabb on the monitor, needs
:00:01. > :00:22.to be a bit more to the right. It is all about getting the white in
:00:23. > :00:33.the right place. Just checking where the red was. Just about an inch and
:00:34. > :00:50.a half. Not too bad. The key thing is the white.
:00:51. > :01:04.The Black Cats to be... Yes, it is pretty good.
:01:05. > :01:12.The aggressive safety shot would be to play the one you suggested. He is
:01:13. > :01:21.just making sure... He was just saying that now, you cannot see the
:01:22. > :01:23.black, but he could the first time. He is going to play exactly the same
:01:24. > :01:48.shot, the cut. Is that enough? Yes. That is where it was. That is where
:01:49. > :02:00.it is now. It is a bit too far in our! -- fire now.
:02:01. > :02:32.Found a different shot now, where is the... ?
:02:33. > :03:01.There is a pot. Let's have a look at this. Pretty close. If the red to
:03:02. > :03:03.the right-centre doesn't pot, he does have the long red into the
:03:04. > :03:37.left-hand corner pocket. He will be tempted again, I think.
:03:38. > :03:48.The reds are problems behind the black.
:03:49. > :03:56.What a fabulous pot again. He knew that once he was going into the
:03:57. > :04:07.pack, he needs a little bit of luck. This time he had it. He
:04:08. > :04:41.deserved it. That was a does pot. -- a tremendous pot.
:04:42. > :04:49.This is tricky. He has two play this almost dead weight. To give it a
:04:50. > :04:52.chance to get into the pocket. You could try and screw it in but it
:04:53. > :05:04.makes the pot so much more difficult.
:05:05. > :05:07.If he plays this along the top cushion, we have seen plenty of
:05:08. > :06:47.these missed so far. Budden, Neil Robertson, that
:06:48. > :06:55.deserves a round of applause. -- well done. The red that he had
:06:56. > :07:00.expected to leave on, the one you the green, he hasn't. -- the one
:07:01. > :07:29.near the green. Mark Selby could just about swing
:07:30. > :07:34.this in between yellow and blue. He is probably back in again. Baby
:07:35. > :07:49.pushing into the yellow, Ken, before it swerved. -- maybe pushing into
:07:50. > :07:55.the yellow. It looks very close to the baulk cushion. It wouldn't be as
:07:56. > :07:57.easy as further as it could have been if it had been a few inches
:07:58. > :08:37.away from the baulk cushion. This is a containing safety shot.
:08:38. > :09:09.Can he have a go at this plant? You'll have to hit this red really
:09:10. > :09:15.thin where the white is. The cue ball may go between the reds and
:09:16. > :09:20.even career into the red at the left-hand side of the table, but
:09:21. > :09:25.that would not bother him. He's just playing the containing safety shot.
:09:26. > :09:32.He may force Mark Selby into playing this plant now. He tried to cover
:09:33. > :09:39.the plant, but it doesn't look like he has done that. It is a case of if
:09:40. > :11:00.he wants to risk it. He declared that fell on himself. --
:11:01. > :11:12.foul. The referee did not see it. Quite admirable.
:11:13. > :11:19.A little surprised he did not play the swerved. Mark Selby has been
:11:20. > :11:30.given an extra chance in this frame. He is nine points ahead. I'm lucky
:11:31. > :11:32.to have knocked in the black, but the red would have been there. --
:11:33. > :11:41.unlucky. Had to play the power shot, and it
:11:42. > :12:17.worked. Excellent shot. He knew full well
:12:18. > :12:28.that red would slow down the cue ball. He hasn't been very lucky.
:12:29. > :12:36.Could have had something a lot easier here. Couldn't agree with you
:12:37. > :12:51.more, Ken. He played a fantastic black, but faced with a tough
:12:52. > :13:01.Casement -- a pot. This is very tricky.
:13:02. > :13:05.Very, very good. He deserves what he gets from those last shots that he
:13:06. > :13:36.played. He has pulled out some great reds
:13:37. > :14:16.already in this break. This has been a great break of 32,
:14:17. > :14:21.and he is hardly add position. And he is not in a great position now.
:14:22. > :14:23.They have to risk going in and out of baulk with this red because the
:14:24. > :14:36.green is unavailable. He needed to roll, but still not
:14:37. > :15:41.perfect. 46 points in front, very rarely do
:15:42. > :15:49.you suggest a double as a possibility. But where is the reds
:15:50. > :15:59.are, the double might not be bad. -- with the reds are.
:16:00. > :16:14.That was worth the risk. Potting a lot of good balls in that set. He is
:16:15. > :17:25.the favourite. This is a really tough position. It
:17:26. > :17:32.would be an easy snooker from Mark Selby. He has gone for the pot.
:17:33. > :17:38.Goodness me! We have seen some pots this evening. He has put all his
:17:39. > :17:49.eggs in one basket there. I can only presume he paid with a -- played for
:17:50. > :17:57.the pink. Goodness me, that was a pot.
:17:58. > :18:10.A lovely angle for this blue. Nudge the red from the site cushion.
:18:11. > :18:13.You can see the disappointment in his face, just half an inch away
:18:14. > :18:40.from that shot. Well, maybe an inch. That was a good shot, knowing full
:18:41. > :18:52.well that he was going to bring the other red into play that was behind
:18:53. > :19:00.the green. He is 40 points behind. That creates extra pressure on Mark
:19:01. > :19:03.Selby here. I know that this session has been playing for nearly an hour
:19:04. > :19:09.and a half and we have not yet completed three frames, but some of
:19:10. > :19:12.the best pots the Championship have been played in this frame, and it
:19:13. > :19:18.will need to be a good safety shot here, because it will be tough not
:19:19. > :19:40.to leave a pot on. Just trying to work out what he is
:19:41. > :19:49.thinking of. What is he thinking of doing with that? The red possibly
:19:50. > :19:58.passes the green, to cut it into the right-hand corner and send it in and
:19:59. > :20:10.out of baulk. The case is a problem if he does that? -- kiss. He has
:20:11. > :20:45.done the correct thing, he now has two balls on the cushion.
:20:46. > :20:51.That was the only problem from Mark Selby plain that containing safety
:20:52. > :20:59.shot, the straightforward safety shot for Neil Robertson.
:21:00. > :21:39.It is like he has covered all reds here.
:21:40. > :22:05.He does have another this red. -- enough of this red.
:22:06. > :22:24.What a tough shot this will be. Ho, what a shot! That is amazing.
:22:25. > :22:27.Amazing, forced into it. How well did he hit this? ! We have seen some
:22:28. > :22:44.marvellous pots. Everything was risky there, the
:22:45. > :22:52.safety was risky. Sometimes you have to just go for one.
:22:53. > :23:09.That is what we call Tim three self out of trouble. -- potting yourself
:23:10. > :23:23.out of trouble. Do not the head he concedes. -- the
:23:24. > :23:42.nod of the head, you concedes. Both of them landing large punches
:23:43. > :23:49.on each other, and what about some of the long potting in that frame,
:23:50. > :23:53.absolutely impossible! They are forced into playing some pots, and
:23:54. > :23:59.that one from Mark Selby was fantastic. It has been a very high
:24:00. > :24:09.standard of long part tonight. It has been quick and pretty slow also.
:24:10. > :24:16.It has been fascinating. The standard of competitiveness is
:24:17. > :24:24.immense. I do not see either of them really relenting or giving up. I
:24:25. > :24:30.cannot see anybody folding. No. I just do not see it. With Mark Selby,
:24:31. > :24:34.tonight we're getting an interesting balance between the Hoover that is
:24:35. > :24:37.Mark Selby that would leave everything up, and also this
:24:38. > :24:42.torturer figure that Ronnie O'Sullivan describes, but he is
:24:43. > :24:48.marrying the two now. It is interesting when he goes behind.
:24:49. > :24:54.When he is in front, you almost goes into protection mode and he sort of
:24:55. > :24:58.goes into it shall, not completely, but his choice of shot seems to go a
:24:59. > :25:04.bit more conservative when he is in front. An interesting observation,
:25:05. > :25:08.because he has always said that plays better when the pressure gets
:25:09. > :25:12.more intense. Yes, and that is an usual for most players, they love to
:25:13. > :25:16.be in front. But when you play somebody at the level of Neil
:25:17. > :25:21.Robertson, you're always aware that he can come back. If you know that
:25:22. > :25:25.your player can collapse, that is another story, but both these
:25:26. > :25:29.players can be amazing front runners. Nia Roberts and is showing
:25:30. > :25:34.fantastic composure to come back into the match at various times and
:25:35. > :25:40.he will keep on doing it. This is the last one before the mid-session
:25:41. > :25:56.interval and once again, Mark Selby has eked out a lead.
:25:57. > :26:02.The latter session before the mid-session interval, can Neil
:26:03. > :26:27.Robertson level again. -- the last frame before.
:26:28. > :26:37.The state from Mark Selby, but as you can see, the two reds above the
:26:38. > :26:57.pocket... As you can imagine, this is very, very dangerous indeed.
:26:58. > :27:04.The fact he is a left-hander, you might be able to get his cue. He is
:27:05. > :27:11.looking at the plant. That brown will hamper him slightly but the
:27:12. > :27:13.open red. If he plays the plant and stuns it in, there is a chance he
:27:14. > :27:21.could be on the black. Fantastic shot. What a match this
:27:22. > :27:30.is! That is a great shot, you can see
:27:31. > :27:59.the distance between the two balls. The first red that he hit in that
:28:00. > :28:01.plant came off the top cushion into the pack and brought some of these
:28:02. > :28:24.reds into play. He can go into the pack your because
:28:25. > :28:29.he has the little insurance policy of the red close to the pocket. --
:28:30. > :29:41.go into the pack here. Just checking that the red next to
:29:42. > :30:05.the pink doesn't potting into the corner.
:30:06. > :30:17.The path that the cue ball will take, there is no problem in kissing
:30:18. > :30:55.the red over the middle. The red was not in the way of that shot.
:30:56. > :31:21.Neil may decide to play an aggressive safety.
:31:22. > :31:43.Once again, coming round to see what has happened to the bunch.
:31:44. > :32:01.Just making sure he will not push one right over the pocket.
:32:02. > :32:07.He took the chance. Now he expects to find the cushioning because he
:32:08. > :32:41.had his hand on the table. He has not done.
:32:42. > :33:28.He played that very well. It was an excellent shot.
:33:29. > :33:40.What would you do here, Ken? This is a possible shot. When the object
:33:41. > :33:45.ball, the red, so close to the top cushion, it is very hard. You can
:33:46. > :33:54.sometimes get a double-kiss and completely mess it up. That is why
:33:55. > :33:56.he is reluctant to play this one. He is entitled to take his time here
:33:57. > :34:54.because he is in trouble. It'll be interesting to see where
:34:55. > :34:58.pink ghosts. The pink spot is covered but is there room on the
:34:59. > :36:06.black spot? He is just having a look.
:36:07. > :36:21.Pink and black are going to be out of play.
:36:22. > :36:51.He could have gone on the black that time. At the moment, he is not fully
:36:52. > :37:10.concentrating. He did not have a look at all the options.
:37:11. > :37:30.The cue ball bounced. It is amazing how much you can move them by
:37:31. > :38:37.playing that way. Considering the frames have been a
:38:38. > :39:02.bit messy, the standard of potting has been remarkable.
:39:03. > :39:45.He can concentrate on just reds and blues here.
:39:46. > :40:33.That was not the best shot he has ever played. Still OK.
:40:34. > :40:39.Once again, not perfect. He did not play the kiss them, he played to go
:40:40. > :41:04.around the back of those. When it set off it was high. The
:41:05. > :41:07.superfine cloth is, very rare do they pull, it seemed to pull in
:41:08. > :42:02.there, Ken. It is in. This has been good stuff
:42:03. > :42:06.from both players. It has taken the best part of two hours these four
:42:07. > :42:11.frames but this has not been slow snooker, it has been awesome stuff.
:42:12. > :42:16.Some of the best safety play we have seen and some of the best long pots
:42:17. > :42:23.we have seen. Very high standard. Neither player giving an inch. And
:42:24. > :42:46.that was another super long pot. Mark has come to the table but a
:42:47. > :44:14.tall order. Maybe he feels... Can he missed the
:44:15. > :45:21.pink here? That was different. If he can miss the kiss on the red,
:45:22. > :46:35.he could get very close to getting behind the green this time.
:46:36. > :46:39.Excellent cueing again from Neil Robertson. That will certainly
:46:40. > :47:01.secure the frame. We said many times, this match has
:47:02. > :47:06.all the hallmarks of going right down to the wire. At the moment, it
:47:07. > :47:13.is proving to do so. Great match snooker from both
:47:14. > :47:44.players this evening. He has missed the red but Mark Selby
:47:45. > :47:49.gives the nod. Neil Robertson takes the frame. Once again, both players
:47:50. > :47:56.are level. They go off for the mid-session interval. It is 14
:47:57. > :48:02.frames apiece. HAZEL IRVINE: We said it would be a
:48:03. > :48:07.marathon. They go off to their dressing rooms. We will chew the fat
:48:08. > :48:16.little bit. How would you sum up the evening for us? Some unbelievable
:48:17. > :48:18.pots. I think the standard has risen from this morning. It is building up
:48:19. > :48:30.nicely. It takes a bit of time, but once it
:48:31. > :48:35.gets going, this final mini session will be marvellous. Is it about who
:48:36. > :48:42.cracks first or who can produce the best snooker? This is the situation
:48:43. > :48:47.you expect which separates the great from the good. These two are both so
:48:48. > :48:51.evenly matched in terms of talent and matchplay, I do think any is
:48:52. > :48:55.playing well enough to move away from the other. It is the best of
:48:56. > :49:00.five to get into the World Championship. In matches before,
:49:01. > :49:05.they have played to Macri huge finals. They have always really gone
:49:06. > :49:10.the distance. Are you able to see one man or the other getting an
:49:11. > :49:19.advantage because of what you have seen so far in those first four
:49:20. > :49:25.frames, Steve? Do you want the short answer which would be No. At one
:49:26. > :49:31.stage, I thought Mark Selby had the edge. He looks like the one who
:49:32. > :49:36.could play and get the rhythm going. We know full well, Neil Robertson
:49:37. > :49:41.has come on strong at the end of matches in the World Championship. I
:49:42. > :49:44.just haven't got a clue. He showed it against Mark Allen and Judd
:49:45. > :49:50.Trump. When the pressure has really come on, he has been able to
:49:51. > :49:57.respond. Definitely, two of the best sessions have come from Neil
:49:58. > :50:02.Robertson. Can he draw on that again tonight? I wonder. And I wonder if
:50:03. > :50:06.Ronnie O'Sullivan is watching this tonight. He is in his sixth final
:50:07. > :50:11.and his third in a row. In fact, not for ten years has a player made it
:50:12. > :50:16.through to the final having won his quarterfinal and his semifinal with
:50:17. > :50:23.a session to spare. The last man to do so, incidentally, Ronnie
:50:24. > :50:28.O'Sullivan in 2004. Business was brisk and brilliant in here last
:50:29. > :50:31.night against Barry Hawkins. The game is fickle and you can have
:50:32. > :50:38.patches where you are playing really well and vice versa. I didn't have
:50:39. > :50:40.enough in me to be mentally strong and try and come back from it. I did
:50:41. > :50:58.not have enough drive. This game is about momentum. If you
:50:59. > :51:06.can gather some of that, you can win seven, eight, nine and frames on the
:51:07. > :51:14.spin. It is not easy, the mistakes are magnified. In the semifinal
:51:15. > :51:22.playing against Ronnie, any little mistake it magnifies against him. I
:51:23. > :51:27.feel like I have been in a boxing ring and had 12 rounds with Tyson!
:51:28. > :51:34.Goodness me, there are not many of those in the pound. It is huge, the
:51:35. > :51:40.biggest tournament, a lot of pressure out there. I think as each
:51:41. > :51:47.match gets on, you get a little bit more comfortable, the deeper you go
:51:48. > :51:54.into the tournament. I tried my hardest but everything was hard
:51:55. > :52:02.work. Oh, you are kidding? I feel mentally bashed. To be honest with
:52:03. > :52:06.you, I'm glad it is all over! I'm trying my hardest out there and I'm
:52:07. > :52:13.going through every emotion in the match, just like everybody else
:52:14. > :52:20.does. Ronnie O'Sullivan is into the final for three years in a row. It
:52:21. > :52:25.has been a fabulous display from the defending champion. A very
:52:26. > :52:28.comfortable winner in the end, 17 frames to seven. I have never come
:52:29. > :52:40.here with nothing to lose. He's interviewed six Crucible final
:52:41. > :52:45.and he is yet to lose one. What is more important, you have been to 17
:52:46. > :52:51.finals between you, what is more important, is it mental freshness or
:52:52. > :52:54.physical freshness? I think mentally you can be burnt out by the end of
:52:55. > :52:59.it but usually your adrenaline can get you through it. I think being
:53:00. > :53:05.able to sleep in between the matches is important. That can recharge you
:53:06. > :53:09.quite quickly I feel. He talked about structure in his post-match
:53:10. > :53:13.conference saying he did not have to come to play today and he did not
:53:14. > :53:18.know what to do with himself. I understand he has gone for a 15 mile
:53:19. > :53:23.run, just to relax. Is there any way he could be knocked out of his
:53:24. > :53:27.rhythm by a day off? Not at all. He would put a bit of practice in. I
:53:28. > :53:32.think he finds the first week a bit of a drag. You play a first-round
:53:33. > :53:36.match and then he has virtually a week. Come the second week you play
:53:37. > :53:41.almost every day and the intensity gets bigger and bigger. He looks
:53:42. > :53:46.like he is enjoying it. He is chasing the total of six world
:53:47. > :53:53.titles and then hopefully he will -- then he might be hoping to go for a
:53:54. > :54:03.seventh. I think he wants that. But let's also let's talk about Steve's
:54:04. > :54:09.first. But I think he wants to beat my record. He is not playing as many
:54:10. > :54:13.tournaments. He is only playing when he wants. Consequently, when he
:54:14. > :54:18.comes to events like this, he is fresh. A few years ago he almost had
:54:19. > :54:22.a casual record towards equalling them and his place in the game. That
:54:23. > :54:26.has completely changed since he has been working with Doctor Steve
:54:27. > :54:32.Peters. You met him today. How would you describe his mood? He is in
:54:33. > :54:37.great mental shape. Very buoyant, very relaxed. He is in a great place
:54:38. > :54:42.to win the event. He is much more balanced in terms of his views of
:54:43. > :54:47.the challenge of trying to win and beat Stephen's record. It is also a
:54:48. > :54:52.great feeling when you know other players cannot beat you. If you feel
:54:53. > :54:56.you are intimidating players, it is worth three or four friends for a
:54:57. > :55:03.start. And he has certainly done that, intimidation out there. He has
:55:04. > :55:08.put people on the back foot. If he can put them on the back foot truly
:55:09. > :55:11.he deserves to win it in style. He puts himself in the frame to be
:55:12. > :55:18.breaking records and it is on his mind. I won't give away what he was
:55:19. > :55:22.saying but it is on his mind, he is aware of it, he has thought about
:55:23. > :55:28.it. It depends how much he will commit. I do not want to go into
:55:29. > :55:33.it. I do not think either of these guys will be as intimidated as we
:55:34. > :55:38.have seen throughout the Championship. I disagree. I think he
:55:39. > :55:43.has got it. We saw it against Mark Selby in the final of the Masters.
:55:44. > :55:49.He completely blew him away. Mark did not look comfortable from the
:55:50. > :55:53.word go. We shall see. Whoever wins, the intensity levels are
:55:54. > :55:57.certainly going to spike here at the Crucible. We are going to revel in
:55:58. > :56:03.it all but these guys will have to cope with the heat, the pressure and
:56:04. > :56:11.the tension. The 1979 world champion Terry Griffiths well remembers that
:56:12. > :56:14.feeling. People often ask me what it is like being a professional player
:56:15. > :56:19.and how did I handle the pressure. I have tried to describe my anguish
:56:20. > :56:24.but the words come up short. I turned professional in June 1978.
:56:25. > :56:28.Personally, I just wanted to find out if I could compete against the
:56:29. > :56:33.best players in the world. I set myself a target of three years and
:56:34. > :56:38.if I failed, I would go back to work. Little did I know at the time
:56:39. > :56:46.I was -- what I was going to experience in my first season. I led
:56:47. > :56:49.Rex Williams 8-2, in the qualifying round of the UK Championships, with
:56:50. > :56:55.a trip to the Guildhall in Preston looming large in my mind. I somehow
:56:56. > :57:02.managed to lose 9-8. When I shook his hand, I could not feel anything.
:57:03. > :57:05.I wanted to say, well done, but nothing came out. There was an
:57:06. > :57:11.emptiness inside me which had dead into my mind. It was a numbing
:57:12. > :57:15.defeat, overwhelming for me because of its potential impact. The career
:57:16. > :57:20.I had looked forward to was in jeopardy. But also because of the

:06:59. > :07:03.It is like an archiving hit after the pack. Usually you get the arc

:11:58. > :12:06.The good standard of this evening's session continues.
:12:07. > :12:19.Neil Robertson started off with a fantastic red. Very unlucky to go
:12:20. > :12:20.in-off. A heavy contact there. This has been a brilliant break from Mark
:12:21. > :13:00.Selby. This is like a boxing match, not a
:13:01. > :13:33.snooker match, it is blow for blow. Once again, either player when they
:13:34. > :13:37.had the chance to win a frame this evening, they have taken the bull by
:13:38. > :13:42.the horns and comfort, and nine times out of ten, they have done it.
:13:43. > :13:59.-- and gone for it. Once again, he takes the lead at
:14:00. > :14:13.15-14. Mark Selby alleged to get in there
:14:14. > :14:17.after that rather uncharacteristic and unusual in half from Neil
:14:18. > :14:25.Robertson. I do not think any of us have seen this before? He hit it
:14:26. > :14:31.perfectly, but if you hit a certain red in a certain way, it spun off
:14:32. > :14:37.the pack. A lot of shot value for Neil Robertson. We are discussing
:14:38. > :14:42.who we think will crack and how it will pan out, well, the game of
:14:43. > :14:46.snooker can always be won and lost on luck. And unlucky break,

:15:29. > :15:49.Robertson. A good break off. A fascinating
:15:50. > :16:02.match this is. Let's take a look at this in-off again. So much stun.
:16:03. > :16:42.Caught the next red half-board which threw it off the line.
:16:43. > :16:55.Not quite sure what this is worth? The red to the bottom right-hand

:16:56. > :17:51.evening. -- in quite regularly. I think the pink is a bit further
:17:52. > :17:53.from the pack, some more of a gap. That is why it caught the pink after
:17:54. > :18:23.all. The pink is slightly higher. This
:18:24. > :18:24.way? The pink was slightly higher, Michaela Tabb is just telling the
:18:25. > :18:53.referee. That looks pretty good to me. They
:18:54. > :18:58.are both happy. Same shot again. Two cushion escape. You would expect him
:18:59. > :19:21.to hit the red this time. He has left the red O'Neill aside,
:19:22. > :19:25.but... -- left the red on the other side. Still has a pot New here, Neil
:19:26. > :19:49.Robertson. -- on here. There is a drag on the cue ball,
:19:50. > :19:54.this time he might play at pace and tried to career into the pack and
:19:55. > :19:59.try and get on pink or blue. He will have no idea what will happen to the
:20:00. > :20:18.white here. It could arc because it is close to the cushion.
:20:19. > :20:24.Could not have hit that any better. It always requires a bit of luck,
:20:25. > :20:55.but it is going that way anyway. That is right.
:20:56. > :21:06.Just missed that red, wanted a cannon half ball. That is a mistake.

:24:36. > :24:41.Needs to be just off straight on this, and I think that he is. There

:25:14. > :25:25.the side cushion. He will need one more good cannon to
:25:26. > :25:30.win the frame here, and there is nothing available into the
:25:31. > :25:35.right-hand corner pocket. He needs to be careful because if he catches
:25:36. > :25:39.the extreme red to the left of the pack full ball, he could be left

:30:05. > :30:11.It would be like trying to stop the Sea of Galilee, please stop. He gets

:30:51. > :31:39.He has not played anything like this before.
:31:40. > :32:07.This has been top-quality from both players.
:32:08. > :33:13.That is the widest margin we have seen a shot missed all night.

:34:31. > :34:34.Mark Selby had been left with a difficult red which he took on but
:34:35. > :35:12.no damage done. He will need pink and a couple of
:35:13. > :35:31.high-value colours with the two remaining reds.
:35:32. > :35:42.I'm just thinking whether he will risk playing for the black here. He

:35:51. > :36:04.He decided to get the black on the spot. That is a great positional
:36:05. > :37:05.shot. If he gets the cue ball where the
:37:06. > :37:19.circle is, he cannot be red down. -- you the red down.
:37:20. > :37:49.That was a good snooker. It could have been a lot better. You really
:37:50. > :37:57.want the red ball away from a cushion. Mark can play it snow. It
:37:58. > :38:13.will be difficult for Neil to get a snooker. -- he can play it slow.
:38:14. > :38:26.I think when you are playing somebody like Mark Selby, the
:38:27. > :38:30.snookers have to be perfect. That is why you need the object ball out in
:38:31. > :38:50.the open. There was a comment from the crowd
:38:51. > :38:52.which seems to have disturbed Mark Selby but I'm sure it was not
:38:53. > :39:01.detrimental. Ken mentioned he should be in
:39:02. > :39:54.trouble, he is. Would you have played it softly,
:39:55. > :39:56.can? No. I think if he pots and easy red and black, he can get a snooker
:39:57. > :40:34.on the yellow. If he needs that red, if he was only
:40:35. > :40:38.33 in front, he would never miss it in a month of Sundays. It is a
:40:39. > :40:45.different mindset when your opponent needs snookers. It is not helping
:40:46. > :41:57.his cause to miss a straightforward red.
:41:58. > :42:37.Salute the snooker this time. It is amazing how he misses these balls
:42:38. > :42:43.when his opponent needs snookers. He has not missed a ball all night.
:42:44. > :43:00.He probably deserved that, Neil Robertson. This is not
:43:01. > :43:14.straightforward. He must hit this. If he does not hit
:43:15. > :43:16.the red, he certainly wants to hit those balls because he could leave a
:43:17. > :43:30.free ball here. This looks very good. An excellent
:43:31. > :44:18.shot. The snooker gods are punishing mark
:44:19. > :44:40.for missing four attempts at the red.
:44:41. > :44:48.He could be in trouble here. He has been going through the mill. This
:44:49. > :45:34.frame should have been over about ten minutes ago.
:45:35. > :45:38.That was pretty good. He was trying to push the red off the side
:45:39. > :46:13.cushion. And the concession. An excellent
:46:14. > :46:16.break of 54 in the middle of that frame. It takes him one away from
:46:17. > :46:28.victory. He leads 16-14. Mark Selby heaves a huge sigh of
:46:29. > :46:35.relief. It looked like he might be able to get back into it. Pro-he
:46:36. > :46:42.succumbed to a snooker the other way around. It has been riveting stuff.
:46:43. > :46:46.If Mark won the next frame and it was not a comfortable victory but a
:46:47. > :46:50.three frame victory, after it looked like it was going to go all the
:46:51. > :46:55.way. If that does happen, I wonder if we would look back to that in-off
:46:56. > :47:00.from Neil Robertson as one of the deciding moments from the whole
:47:01. > :47:05.match? Absolutely. Mark Selby stepped up since the interval.
:47:06. > :47:12.Obviously, there was a bit of frame time left when he missed but he won
:47:13. > :47:18.the last two friends. He stepped up a gear. And very brisk around the
:47:19. > :47:25.table. The pace of the match has stepped up. If it was to be finished
:47:26. > :47:30.in the next frame, it is not bad night's sleep for Mark Selby. But
:47:31. > :47:35.every time Neil Robertson has been right up against it, he pulls
:47:36. > :47:41.something out. He will not go out without a fight. Getting over the
:47:42. > :47:48.line is a lot harder than winning a frame. Do you think there is a lot
:47:49. > :47:53.of life left? I would be surprised if Mark Selby won it in this frame.
:47:54. > :48:00.Neil Robertson is a great competitor. But it is Mark gets one
:48:01. > :48:06.chance it could be over. What would you be telling yourself at this
:48:07. > :48:11.point? It is one ball at a time stuff. You cannot change your
:48:12. > :48:15.tactics. You get presented with a shot and you just give it everything
:48:16. > :48:19.you have got. That is all you can do. But he will be mentally
:48:20. > :48:24.positive. Just to remind you once again, that if you are waiting for
:48:25. > :48:29.the Generation War, an exceptional German drama, it will be coming your
:48:30. > :48:33.way if this match finishes before 10:30pm. If the match goes beyond
:48:34. > :48:43.that, you will be seeing that particular part of an excellent
:48:44. > :48:49.drama series next Saturday night. So, back we go. Plenty of drama
:48:50. > :48:53.going on out there. This studio has given us a remarkable view of things
:48:54. > :48:57.and we can really feel the tension levels and we have to lower our
:48:58. > :49:06.voices. It is a treat to be so close. You just want one good
:49:07. > :49:12.chance. You can sense the crowd as well. It is a truly special
:49:13. > :49:16.atmosphere in the Crucible Theatre. It becomes the perfect and big
:49:17. > :49:22.theatre. Neil Robertson is coming back in. He will get a big cheer.
:49:23. > :49:27.Both players got great respect. I'm sure this Crucible crowd would love
:49:28. > :49:31.to see this go a bit further. Maximum drama. We are certainly
:49:32. > :49:35.getting it here tonight. Neil Robertson looks very cool and
:49:36. > :49:36.composed as he has been all Championship but he has got an awful
:49:37. > :49:59.lot to do. Mark Selby requires one more frame
:50:00. > :50:05.for a place in the final of the World Championship against Ronnie
:50:06. > :50:07.O'Sullivan, the defending champion. Match time, almost 11 and a half
:50:08. > :50:31.hours now. We have seen better brakes in this
:50:32. > :50:35.tournament than this, but the quality of both players, you cannot
:50:36. > :50:48.get better match play. This is real matchplay snooker. Absolutely. Both
:50:49. > :51:15.players are a lot more positive. A lot more pacey around the table.
:51:16. > :51:46.You can feel the tension in the air as well.
:51:47. > :51:55.It is all about missing the kiss on the blue in this safety shot. Got to
:51:56. > :52:40.be very careful. A kiss on the green is not too bad.
:52:41. > :52:45.He will have a shot at these reds but even if he does, it can just
:52:46. > :53:22.nestle into them. The problem for Neil Robertson,
:53:23. > :53:24.every shot that he plays, he has got to be so precise because one slip
:53:25. > :53:43.could cost him the match. That is exactly what I am talking
:53:44. > :54:09.about. One shot like that, half a chance for Mark Selby.
:54:10. > :54:14.Neil managed to get the cue ball close enough to the cushion to make
:54:15. > :54:39.that a difficult pot. There was another mistake. Every
:54:40. > :54:46.shot he is playing, there is a bit more pressure on it.
:54:47. > :54:52.This is the chance Mark Selby was waiting for. Could that be the last
:54:53. > :54:57.shot he has played in this year's Championship, Neil Robertson?
:54:58. > :55:31.APPLAUSE It is a kiss on the blue.
:55:32. > :56:14.You can see the angle. He cannot play that shot.
:56:15. > :56:34.He was expecting a little kiss of the red. He is still OK.
:56:35. > :57:20.It was a difficult black. He let the white run free.
:57:21. > :57:49.APPLAUSE What a shot that was under the
:57:50. > :58:46.pressure and fully committed. There are still another couple of
:58:47. > :58:53.reds available after this red he is going to pot.
:58:54. > :59:17.He decided to go for blue and that is not good. That was a poor shot.
:59:18. > :59:29.You would expect him to arc this red in if he uses the rest. He may
:59:30. > :59:52.decide to play for the blue, but he is playing with top spin. Very good.
:59:53. > :59:58.This will certainly help matters getting rid of this red behind the
:59:59. > :00:20.black spot. Neil Robertson is showing a lot of
:00:21. > :00:35.character here at the moment. Could disturb the bunch and bring
:00:36. > :00:45.some more into play. That is a great shot. Fantastic. A little bit of
:00:46. > :01:16.luck that he came to the top side of the blue.
:01:17. > :02:26.Four read, -- four reds, four colours. A glance at the scoreboard
:02:27. > :02:30.tells him that. A good effort, this, from Neil Robertson, because he was
:02:31. > :02:59.frozen out of the last two frames. They are both over 90% pot success
:03:00. > :03:06.rate at this stage of the match, it is going to go 16-15 here. You can
:03:07. > :03:10.usually guarantee winning the match if you have over 90%, but one of
:03:11. > :03:23.these is going to have over 90% and looms. -- lose. Getting close to the
:03:24. > :04:03.winning line in this frame. This is a wonderful effort for Neil
:04:04. > :04:09.Robertson. Showing real courage, the true champion. He is making Mark
:04:10. > :04:57.Selby think, well, how can I get rid of this man?
:04:58. > :05:04.He is past the centuries mark, he is now on 102. The chance to make
:05:05. > :05:18.another one. He has been the player of the
:05:19. > :05:24.tournament, without any question, but either of these two players,
:05:25. > :05:25.surely, they are getting very very close to playing against Ronnie.
:05:26. > :05:53.This has been such a good standard. The century breaking machine just
:05:54. > :06:32.need the brand. He certainly will have enjoyed this
:06:33. > :06:39.more because he was under such pressure. A magnificent break of
:06:40. > :06:49.108, are we going to go all the way ) is now 16-15. Mark Selby has
:06:50. > :06:55.gotten the ball is there, if we look at he finished, it is an inch
:06:56. > :07:00.difference to be perfect. If the cue ball pulls up, it flicks the red,
:07:01. > :07:05.due think that makes a difference to the pace of the ball? It looked too
:07:06. > :07:12.pacey. It might have straightened up the angle, but he has overrun it. If
:07:13. > :07:17.we look at Hawk-Eye's position, if he is on that red in the middle of
:07:18. > :07:21.the pack, you would expect him to at least make 40 or more and possibly
:07:22. > :07:26.close out the match and as you said, Winnie, just fractions. When
:07:27. > :07:31.he potted that blew into the yellow pocket, he came out with that
:07:32. > :07:35.initial red, and had he been straighter, the same rule would have
:07:36. > :07:41.applied and closed out the match from that position, but a fantastic
:07:42. > :07:50.response from Neil Robertson. The first red, very important, that set
:07:51. > :07:55.him right up. He could have played this with top spin and gone back up
:07:56. > :08:03.and taken it easier, but fully committed to the black and made a
:08:04. > :08:08.wonderful century break from it. Thank you, thank you. Frame 32. Neil
:08:09. > :08:22.Robertson to break. Mark Selby and his supporters have
:08:23. > :08:29.travelled up the motorway to be here.
:08:30. > :08:42.An incredible session this has been, it really has.
:08:43. > :08:53.Just looking down the line of this shot, wondering if he will take on.
:08:54. > :09:34.Probably wasn't straight enough. Not straight enough to have a go at it.
:09:35. > :09:43.Did the brown countries rescue? It look like it has. Mark Selby can be
:09:44. > :09:50.a very, very aggressive safety players well. Can he screwed the
:09:51. > :09:56.white back, because it is not easy to get back into baulk. He might
:09:57. > :10:02.have an angle to screw it into the blue. That is a thought. That is
:10:03. > :11:05.what he is planning, I think. Into the blue, and boy has he hit
:11:06. > :11:25.that absolutely perfectly. A good shot. Would love to have got
:11:26. > :11:40.the cue ball titre to this baulk cushion. Four. I think this is too
:11:41. > :11:42.risky to have a go at. If he stunted him powerfully, he could get away
:11:43. > :13:02.with a shot to nothing. If you murmurings from the crowd,
:13:03. > :13:06.because they know if Neil Robertson was facing the long pot he would
:13:07. > :13:35.take it on. -- the bit of murmuring from the crowd.
:13:36. > :13:42.Mark Selby will be coming down to have a look to see if any of these
:13:43. > :14:10.reds will go to the left corner pocket?
:14:11. > :14:21.That was a pretty good shot. The flick on the brown helped also. It
:14:22. > :15:02.covered the red on the right-hand side of the table.
:15:03. > :15:21.Oh, dear, at first glance, it is not an easy opener, but it is unusual to
:15:22. > :15:30.see a poor safety shot. Mark Selby looks to his friends and family to
:15:31. > :15:33.say, well, I'm a bit lucky, but it is easier playing from here than
:15:34. > :15:50.tight on the cushion. Always tough from that gap.
:15:51. > :15:57.The yellow was always over the left-centre pocket. Playing with
:15:58. > :16:10.some safety in mind. He has certainly wiped his feet? Is
:16:11. > :16:14.he on the yellow? Did the green block his path? I think he is OK.
:16:15. > :16:26.Looks just about OK. The brown is there as well. He likes
:16:27. > :17:02.the brown. Watch this red. We spoke about fractions in the last
:17:03. > :17:13.frame. Fractionally, just on this red.
:17:14. > :17:26.He needs the cue ball to slow up. He's having to work for this break.
:17:27. > :17:28.Again, red left of the black. That would be his target even the one
:17:29. > :17:46.just above it. These shots are not easy. A bit of
:17:47. > :17:56.tension in the arm, conflict the side onto this. It is there. How is
:17:57. > :18:05.the cue ball? Needs a nice case on the red. It is unbelievable. Talking
:18:06. > :18:07.about fractions. I do not think you can get through the gap with the red
:18:08. > :18:33.to the black on the pocket. Still not perfect. Still needs a
:18:34. > :18:39.good shots to get onto the next red comfortably. There is only about a
:18:40. > :18:45.quarter of a ball of the red, the red to the left of those reds above
:18:46. > :18:48.the black. If he misses the case, he is on the red in the middle. Only
:18:49. > :19:19.has a quarter ball to hit. The pink is no problem, but the blue
:19:20. > :20:29.is perfect to get on three reds. The bottom red just above the
:20:30. > :20:35.Blackwell pot. When he gets rid of those two, then the red at the edge
:20:36. > :20:37.of the bunch. That is the circle very would like to get on that
:20:38. > :21:18.bottom red. Just coming around to have a look to
:21:19. > :21:32.see if the red is on. There is a part into the left corner. -- a pot.
:21:33. > :21:36.You may need a cannon now. There is likely to be a plant in the
:21:37. > :21:40.left-hand corner. He may have another look after he has taken the
:21:41. > :22:08.pot. If this works, this could be frame
:22:09. > :22:11.and match. 12 hours much time, now he has got a nice angle on this
:22:12. > :22:46.black. Neil Robertson knows now that he is
:22:47. > :22:49.possibly for macro shots away from being out of this championship. --
:22:50. > :23:00.for macro shots away. Both players have shown some courage
:23:01. > :23:04.here. They have both played their part in this and they deserve a
:23:05. > :23:11.strand of applause after this match, and this Crucible crowd had enjoyed
:23:12. > :23:18.it whatever happens. I do not think I have seen a better match for a
:23:19. > :23:36.long time, Kent. Yes, it has been full of everything.
:23:37. > :23:58.Red, colour, red would be enough. This has been top-quality.
:23:59. > :24:05.One more red for a place in the 2014 Dafabet World Championship final
:24:06. > :24:11.against the defending champion, Ronnie O'Sullivan. This is the red
:24:12. > :24:13.to put Mark Selby in his second final and it is in! It is in!
:24:14. > :24:37.Fantastic! APPLAUSE Hats off to Neil Robertson. He has
:24:38. > :24:41.been a great champion here and he took part in a fantastic match of
:24:42. > :24:55.top quality. He has given it everything.
:24:56. > :25:04.He is just doing a little bit of maths. He is entitled to carry on
:25:05. > :25:10.hazard is the last frame. -- as it is. Inches away from being in the
:25:11. > :25:51.final. That is the handshake. We have
:25:52. > :25:56.witnessed one of the best matches played in the Crucible for many
:25:57. > :26:01.years. Both players, great friends on and off the table, the crowd give
:26:02. > :26:07.them a standing ovation, and it is so deserved. What a fantastic match,
:26:08. > :26:19.congratulations to Mark Selby getting to his second Crucible
:26:20. > :26:19.final. We fairly enjoyed that. Mark Selby against Ronnie O'Sullivan
:26:20. > :26:30.tomorrow. The world number three, Mark Selby,
:26:31. > :26:34.on his way to our studio, and Steve Davis is with me, give us your
:26:35. > :26:40.impression on how the closed out that match and how it turned so
:26:41. > :26:46.quickly in that mini-session? So impressive, both players up to the
:26:47. > :26:52.job, that unlucky bit where the Robertson went in-off. Mark Selby
:26:53. > :26:58.was just so impressive. So strong mentally. Never balked at the
:26:59. > :27:05.chance. Somewhere down the line, you get a bit nervy. He really took his
:27:06. > :27:12.chances at Jimmy Robertson played a poor safety shot. A fantastic
:27:13. > :27:16.effort. An excellent effort, 12 hours of training snooker. We're
:27:17. > :27:22.just telling everybody, a seven-year wait, my goodness, what a struggle
:27:23. > :27:31.to get past Neil Robertson! Yes, we all know how good he is at the long
:27:32. > :27:34.game. Every time I played a half lose safety shot, he kept dropping
:27:35. > :27:37.long balls in and winning the frame or would make a good 50, 60 and put
:27:38. > :27:40.me on the back foot. I kept getting two frames in front and I was
:27:41. > :27:46.thinking, with two frames left, to get a good lead, and he dug in and
:27:47. > :27:57.that is why he is world number one. The tactics were in men's all
:27:58. > :28:01.through the match. Sometimes when I am in the balls, sometimes I look
:28:02. > :28:05.for things to go wrong a lot of the time, whereas in this match, when I
:28:06. > :28:10.got a chance, I thought I need to try and attack, so there was still
:28:11. > :28:14.two frames this afternoon, 50 minutes long and 40 minutes long.
:28:15. > :28:20.That is pretty draining. How fresh do you feel going into tomorrow? We
:28:21. > :28:24.all know it is very draining, intense day in day out, but whether
:28:25. > :28:30.I am tired and tomorrow, I would rather be in the final than sitting
:28:31. > :28:33.at and watching it. It is Ronnie O'Sullivan, you have had some
:28:34. > :28:38.fantastic matches with him, six finals, three apiece, I suspect you
:28:39. > :28:43.would like to have another crack at this fellow here. , yes, if you want
:28:44. > :28:50.to win the World Championship, there is no better person to play, Ronnie
:28:51. > :28:56.O'Sullivan, and at the Crucible. I look forward to it. How much better
:28:57. > :29:00.is your game, you said you had not played your best snooker over the
:29:01. > :29:02.Christmas, New Year period, but I detect much more, a much better
:29:03. > :29:10.sight of confidence in your game here? Yes, I am always tinkering
:29:11. > :29:14.during the season trying to look for results, even though the game is
:29:15. > :29:17.hard enough anyway. I got two for results, even though the game is
:29:18. > :29:20.hard enough anyway. I got to four finals this season, but in patches,
:29:21. > :29:23.stupid as it sounds, I did not feel I was playing great, I was just
:29:24. > :29:31.grinding my way there. Coming into the World Championship, more or more
:29:32. > :29:41.I have the chance to score. Great support from the crowd tonight. ,
:29:42. > :29:50.yes, I have got lots of people down to support. Back to 2007, before you
:29:51. > :29:57.got into that final, you said you were drained, do you feel a lot
:29:58. > :30:02.better now? Don't get me wrong, I would be surprised if I didn't say
:30:03. > :30:06.that I wasn't tired, but a lot of the time, because the tournament is
:30:07. > :30:10.as big as what it is, I have been known to put all of the hours under
:30:11. > :30:14.the sun to keep playing, and obviously, coming here, this time, I
:30:15. > :30:19.have probably not practice as much because of more mark practice. We
:30:20. > :30:23.wish you all the best. A fantastic achievement. We will be there to
:30:24. > :30:28.live every moment, I hope you will be as well, because the first of a
:30:29. > :30:34.four parched drama over two days begins at two o'clock tomorrow, that
:30:35. > :30:56.is your bank holiday weekend sorted. -- four part drama. Goodbye for now.
:30:57. > :31:01.It's shocking it'd happen in a public place.
:31:02. > :31:03.I don't find it funny, but I don't find it offensive.
:31:04. > :31:05.It really is vile. Shock value sells.
:31:06. > :31:09.Men are even less tolerant of women than they were before.
:31:10. > :31:12.The hatred of women. Some people are offended.
:31:13. > :31:16.Others think women should just man up.
:31:17. > :31:19.and even misogyny socially acceptable?
