:00:00. > :00:00.As for today, the results from 4:30pm onwards. Hibs are on to the

:00:00. > :00:08.Scottish Cup final. We switch from football to snooker. The World

:00:09. > :00:15.Championships getting underway today in Sheffield and in round one,

:00:16. > :00:19.Scotland's Anthony Metzer up against England's Sean Murphy. It is the

:00:20. > :00:55.best of 19 frames in the first round.

:00:56. > :01:30.His highest tournament break is a break of 144 which he made in the

:01:31. > :01:46.2014 World Open. There is tonne up for Anthony

:01:47. > :01:58.McGill. It would be nice if he could clear the lot.

:01:59. > :02:11.Shone with a break of 61 in the early part of the frame and now

:02:12. > :02:20.Anthony with the century. Game on. -- Shaun. A chance to equal that

:02:21. > :02:48.personal best of 144. He got a massive bounce off the

:02:49. > :03:05.cushion. He was a bit unlucky. He still has a chance to knock it in.

:03:06. > :03:12.It is not going to be a total clearance, but he will not be too

:03:13. > :03:19.concerned about that. He won the frame with that magnificent century

:03:20. > :03:25.break. It is 1-1. HAZEL: It is Anthony's for the Crucible century.

:03:26. > :03:31.That is the third on this opening day in the Crucible. There are a lot

:03:32. > :03:41.of you who are pleased that the World Championship has begun and you

:03:42. > :03:46.have been tweeting as. This is my favourite from Jody, see you in two

:03:47. > :04:05.weeks. Thank you very much and we are

:04:06. > :04:11.really excited to be back. It is a great time of year and it is a long

:04:12. > :04:13.haul. It is the second longest annual sporting event in the world

:04:14. > :04:22.behind the Tour de France, but we love it. Yes and because it is a

:04:23. > :04:26.slow burn, and in the world of sport everybody is going you have to make

:04:27. > :04:29.spot quicker to keep people's attention, this proves there are

:04:30. > :04:35.people who do not need that, they like to get the slow burner. And so

:04:36. > :04:42.be it, it should be this way all the time. How do you think people begin

:04:43. > :04:47.to enjoy this? People watch it right from the start. Summer start zoning

:04:48. > :04:54.in from the quarterfinals onwards. You would have been day one when you

:04:55. > :04:58.were a kid. Oh, yes. My father could not wait for the beginning and

:04:59. > :05:03.marked out every single session in the paper with a pen. He loved it

:05:04. > :05:11.from ten o'clock on the first day and lots of people do. We have even

:05:12. > :05:16.some of the tweets coming in. People love the fortnight. Is the longer

:05:17. > :05:20.match format gives much more of the storyline. You can see the way the

:05:21. > :05:30.game changes and goes from one side to other and it's much more

:05:31. > :05:35.exciting. Whether you are in with us for the long haul or whether you are

:05:36. > :05:37.dipping in and out, we will be with you for more or less every day until

:05:38. > :05:55.the 2nd of May. Steve was a bit casually dressed

:05:56. > :06:01.there, Dennis, what do you think? I think he borrowed that shirt off

:06:02. > :06:16.Mark Williams. There is a dresser if ever I saw one.

:06:17. > :06:20.Shaun Murphy missed a long read in this frame which normally you expect

:06:21. > :06:52.him to get nine times out of ten. If Anthony McGill takes all the

:06:53. > :06:53.chances he gets, he can put Shaun Murphy under a lot of pressure in

:06:54. > :07:19.this match. He threw the cue right up in the air

:07:20. > :07:23.after that to get the follow-through. He is a bit unlucky

:07:24. > :07:32.to be on the cushion, but it is a great effort. If they had had a

:07:33. > :07:34.shade like they have in the clubs on the billiards table, he would have

:07:35. > :08:01.smashed a few bulbs. Going into the reds there is no

:08:02. > :08:05.guarantee where they will end up. He is possibly thinking of taking down

:08:06. > :08:16.the cue ball and going up for the blue. This is tough. I think the

:08:17. > :08:30.first shot was the right one, Anthony. There was a bit more chance

:08:31. > :08:38.to the positional side of it. Yes, he got a bit of unwanted side

:08:39. > :08:45.digging down on it. Shaun can put him in a spot of bother if he judges

:08:46. > :08:54.this correctly. Leave the white somewhere near to where the red is.

:08:55. > :09:03.He has quit on that. It has just gone past the middle. He did not hit

:09:04. > :09:09.that is intended. There was deceleration with his

:09:10. > :09:10.follow-through. He is looking a little bit bemused with that last

:09:11. > :10:06.shot. This could become a bit of an

:10:07. > :10:17.awkward frame with the red up at the other end of the table.

:10:18. > :10:22.I am with Steve in the studio talking about the World

:10:23. > :10:27.Championships. I think they should keep it with the long frames. I do

:10:28. > :10:32.not mind them changing the others, the best of seven, the best of nine,

:10:33. > :10:43.but to win the World Championship is the biggest test of all and I hope

:10:44. > :10:50.they do not change it. They call it the Theatre Of Dreams. 1977 is the

:10:51. > :10:56.first time we came here and the crowd always love coming here. It is

:10:57. > :11:04.never easy to get tickets for this. They are snapped up straightaway

:11:05. > :11:10.when they go on sale. And he decelerated on that shot. That is a

:11:11. > :11:15.shocker from Anthony. He will be so disappointed. He just quit on the

:11:16. > :12:31.shot. He has left a great chance for Shaun.

:12:32. > :12:34.He is one of the best in the business with the rest, Shaun

:12:35. > :12:55.Murphy. Solid as a rock. I think he is the

:12:56. > :12:57.best ever with the rest. He queues it exactly the same way as a normal

:12:58. > :13:27.bridge hand. There is not a lot available here.

:13:28. > :13:37.The reds are all blocking each other.

:13:38. > :13:46.Is there one in the middle of that bunch that goes? Is there a possible

:13:47. > :13:56.plant? He should be able to make this.

:13:57. > :14:02.He has overdone that. That is careless. He was concentrating on

:14:03. > :14:56.the white. He should have made that one.

:14:57. > :15:09.He is up having a look at the red near the cushion. If he got on that

:15:10. > :15:10.one, it would pass the brown, but it would be very difficult. He is going

:15:11. > :15:41.to leave the red in the corner. Now he is looking at a plant. It

:15:42. > :15:47.looks pretty set for the pocket. You have got to do it as if you are

:15:48. > :15:54.trying to get the first one into the pocket and get the second one in.

:15:55. > :15:55.Shaun missed a chance. What can Anthony do? He has done the same

:15:56. > :16:06.thing. This was not a positive cue action.

:16:07. > :18:09.There was deceleration. Just finished. Shot on the blue. I

:18:10. > :18:19.think you believe the red to the right corner. -- he will leave the

:18:20. > :18:21.bed right corner. Straight enough, he could leave the red to the right

:18:22. > :18:54.centre. But that's quite tricky. Yes, he does not have too cannon.

:18:55. > :19:05.When he pots this, it will cannon for another red. It should be pretty

:19:06. > :19:10.straightforward, this. That attempted plant has cost Anthony

:19:11. > :19:12.McGill this frame, you would have to say. He had a bit of a chance Labour

:19:13. > :19:34.just misjudged the plant. The dose used the cue with great

:19:35. > :19:46.authority, Shaun Murphy, he really does. See the tip of the cue? It

:19:47. > :19:51.virtually comes back to his thumb of his bridge hand every time.

:19:52. > :20:19.Generates tremendous cue power. They frame well and truly over.

:20:20. > :20:27.Clearing up here, which won't be easy with that red on the bottom

:20:28. > :20:36.cushion, but if he can get it past the green, behind that red, he might

:20:37. > :20:40.just clear up. Well, he has still got a chance. He did not hit the

:20:41. > :20:53.green full ball, but very, very difficult.

:20:54. > :21:04.Not enough to make a century break, but it's a very good effort, this,

:21:05. > :21:35.from Shaun Murphy. Good standard. These three opening frames.

:21:36. > :21:54.Yes, it's been very entertaining so far.

:21:55. > :21:58.Very well played from Shaun Murphy. A magnificent clearance. It takes

:21:59. > :22:14.them into the lead at 2-1. It's hard to look past someone like

:22:15. > :22:20.Steve Redgrave for me and when I met him he was like a man mountain, you

:22:21. > :22:26.shake his hand up there. For atmosphere, being their lives, you

:22:27. > :22:30.know, seeing it, hearing it, feeling the tension, I used to enjoy the

:22:31. > :22:34.triple jump, and I used a quite enjoy rugby. Ireland once being used

:22:35. > :22:38.as the example at tennis to receive serve off the PE teacher, and he

:22:39. > :22:43.wasn't happy when I knocked it past him on the return. I think I've got

:22:44. > :22:47.the best walk on music on the tour, disco Inferno. If there was a

:22:48. > :22:50.ranking, I think it would be number one by some distance. My dream

:22:51. > :22:57.retirement is always have an involvement in snooker, be it

:22:58. > :23:00.coaching, managing, trying to inspire the next generation. I look

:23:01. > :23:03.forward to the day when I can play golf three or four times a week. My

:23:04. > :23:10.favourite venue would always be the Crucible, that's where Alex brought

:23:11. > :23:15.out the family for the shot, where Dennis won in 1985, where Cliff made

:23:16. > :23:22.147 and everything happened in that room. You can't beat it.

:23:23. > :23:33.Very interesting. Not a bad golfer, either. Plays off a five handicap.

:23:34. > :23:41.A person who played at his local golf club with him, the Masters

:23:42. > :23:46.champion, Danny Willett. With a little bit of luck, we could be

:23:47. > :23:49.seeing about green jacket at the Crucible Theatre. Not putting too

:23:50. > :23:56.much pressure on you, Danny, but we would love to see you down here.

:23:57. > :24:00.What a win that was for Danny Willett to win the Masters. What

:24:01. > :24:01.excitement. And how he played the last three holes was quite

:24:02. > :25:16.incredible. Has he left the red on? That's the

:25:17. > :25:17.important part. No, there is a snooker on the red, so just a little

:25:18. > :25:35.bit harder and he should be OK. I golf Masters champion used to come

:25:36. > :25:39.here, the president of the golf Masters Association, Ian Woosnam,

:25:40. > :25:49.who was my best man when I got married 13 years ago. They all love

:25:50. > :25:57.their snooker, golfers. And all the snooker players love golf.

:25:58. > :26:09.Same shot again with a little more pace.

:26:10. > :28:11.He's not let Shaun and easy opener. He will be careering into the bunch

:28:12. > :28:18.here. Concentrate on the pot. Digit think that was a kick, Stephen? --

:28:19. > :28:22.do you think? From his reaction, there was something wrong. It

:28:23. > :28:27.sounded like there was heavy contact. You can tell by the sound.

:28:28. > :28:42.Yes, that was not Shaun's fault there.

:28:43. > :28:49.That was a better shot than it looked. You have to control the cue

:28:50. > :28:54.ball to get the right side of the blue. That was well played. His

:28:55. > :29:43.problem is the black is blocked up. It's available.

:29:44. > :29:53.Quite a big frame, this, for Anthony McGill. An excellent frontrunner.

:29:54. > :29:59.Even this early in the match, he does not want to be three frames in

:30:00. > :30:10.front. Stay with him. He's finished on a crow first here. -- red.

:30:11. > :30:19.Looking to see if the pink goes to the yellow pocket. It may even take

:30:20. > :30:21.the actress second up to the yellow pocket. I think that's the right

:30:22. > :30:51.shot, position on a colour. Good cueing there. And a good call

:30:52. > :30:58.from Stephen. Definitely the shot to play. He still got to execute it and

:30:59. > :31:04.I am with you, it's an important frame. To go to the mid-session, 2-2

:31:05. > :31:17.with a Shaun Murphy, I think he will be more than pleased.

:31:18. > :31:25.Yes, he will be looking to take the lead, Shaun Murphy, into the final

:31:26. > :31:31.session. 6-3. It's always a target I would be looking at. Anything else

:31:32. > :31:40.is a bonus. I'd be looking at a 6-3 lead. An important moment for

:31:41. > :31:45.Anthony McGill, who, himself, if he's looking at winning this match

:31:46. > :31:49.will be looking a lead. The seeded player is always the one the onus is

:31:50. > :32:16.on them to get the lead for the second session.

:32:17. > :32:26.Just got to concentrate 100% now because, in the opening frame, he

:32:27. > :32:31.had the lead and then missed a straightforward red. We know he's

:32:32. > :32:37.cueing very well, without break of 119 in second frame. Taking his

:32:38. > :32:49.chalk there. Had to move it across the table. It was catching. Oh, that

:32:50. > :32:58.is careless. That is a bad one. Just wanted to slip past the pink. It was

:32:59. > :33:01.better over stunning that than understanding it like you did

:33:02. > :33:07.because it could have finished on the blue. Once he can and the pink,

:33:08. > :33:14.it was the end of the break. That was a golden chance he has let slip.

:33:15. > :33:18.A lot of pressure on Anthony here in this match, as I say. He has not

:33:19. > :33:23.been used to get into the latter stages of tournaments this season.

:33:24. > :34:08.He said before the programme it wasn't the best of seasons for him.

:34:09. > :34:14.That's the way he has been playing this season. Attacking everything.

:34:15. > :34:22.Expected into knock-about in but, I tell you what, he might just have

:34:23. > :34:26.slightly got away with that. Once he missed a pot, he would've felt he

:34:27. > :34:33.left something easy for Anthony, but he never got it in the jaws of the

:34:34. > :34:40.pocket. Well, this red, passing the other red, it's OK. You have got to

:34:41. > :34:41.go on and secure this frame now, Anthony. A golden chance handed to

:34:42. > :35:34.you here. He has got a textbook stance,

:35:35. > :35:38.Anthony, a bit like the old days. Jo Davies used to stand like that. A

:35:39. > :35:42.lot of the modern-day players, including Stephen here, more square

:35:43. > :35:51.on, so it's changed, slightly, the way the players come to the table.

:35:52. > :35:59.Oh, he has done it again. Just when he was getting to the point where he

:36:00. > :36:04.should have secured the frame, but that's just pressure. You know, lack

:36:05. > :36:11.of experience playing at this stage in the tournament. How costly is

:36:12. > :36:43.that miss going to be? After me saying Shaun Murphy is the

:36:44. > :36:54.greatest wrist player of all time, that was a shocker. Well, nobody saw

:36:55. > :36:55.that one coming. Anthony McGill can't believe he's back at the table

:36:56. > :37:07.so soon after that bad miss. It is his third chance. He has got

:37:08. > :37:55.to take this one. He could've done with coming just a

:37:56. > :37:59.little bit further out into the table to play a cannibal, and it

:38:00. > :38:09.should not be a common. Keep it as easy as possible for yourself --

:38:10. > :38:23.play a cannon. 45, so not many pots away from making it 2-2.

:38:24. > :38:34.And he will be feeling much better now, Anthony.

:38:35. > :38:45.But pretty good standard, it has to be said. Shaun opened with a break

:38:46. > :38:53.of 61. He responded with 119. Shaun had 93. No big breaks in this frame,

:38:54. > :38:55.but... Anthony, well, he will go to the mid-session interval and he will

:38:56. > :39:16.be quietly pleased. Yes, he will be very pleased,

:39:17. > :39:19.especially with this frame because he's missed two or three

:39:20. > :39:29.opportunities before this and got away with it. So it's a bonus.

:39:30. > :39:41.There's been a few bad shots. You would expect that in the first

:39:42. > :39:44.round. The surprising thing is Shaun Murphy's long potting has not been

:39:45. > :39:56.what we expect from him. Tried to play that with lots of

:39:57. > :40:00.side, but it does not really matter. Shaun said that's enough and, as we

:40:01. > :40:08.go to the mid-session interval, it is even Stevens, all to play for.

:40:09. > :40:11.HAZEL IRVINE: It is indeed, Dennis. A couple of glaring errors from both

:40:12. > :40:16.players, not least that mess from Shaun Murphy, but you guys have

:40:17. > :40:19.picked a couple of shots, one in particular, which reveals the rather

:40:20. > :40:24.aggressive mindset Shaun Murphy is displaying in this match.

:40:25. > :40:29.Shaun Murphy is left with a long speculative read, the type of shot

:40:30. > :40:34.you could knock in. The cue ball is careering into other balls, it does

:40:35. > :40:39.not know where it's going to end up or whether he's going to pot the

:40:40. > :40:43.ball. The easier shot would need to play the safety shot of nestling

:40:44. > :40:49.behind the red on the top question but Shaun Murphy always goes for the

:40:50. > :40:54.attacking option. Effectively he knows he's going to lose the frame.

:40:55. > :40:57.As it turned out, he didn't, but that's how he must've thought. It

:40:58. > :41:02.has been evident over the last couple of months that after losing

:41:03. > :41:06.the final here last year, he tinkered with his game, stripped it

:41:07. > :41:09.down, not happy with his tactics and his technique. Then he came to the

:41:10. > :41:14.conclusion two months ago there was nothing wrong with that at all and

:41:15. > :41:15.suddenly one the world Grand Prix. It's business as usual and has gone

:41:16. > :41:23.back to his natural way of playing. I don't blame him for doing it. We

:41:24. > :41:30.are here to critique of the players. Sometimes I'm pernickety about it.

:41:31. > :41:33.He's not the best player in the world. Others will always beat him

:41:34. > :41:38.in certain departments of the game but he's a phenomenal break-builder,

:41:39. > :41:41.scorer, brilliant cue action, so he's playing to his strengths. He

:41:42. > :41:46.will lose a few matches along the line that will win a lot. He's just

:41:47. > :41:51.decided his strength is attacking. He will score. And take his chances.

:41:52. > :41:57.Effectively, it is what happened in a lot of sports. The players in golf

:41:58. > :42:00.has had to go for the pen more because they don't someone else

:42:01. > :42:05.will. All of a sudden, in the snooker world, if you don't take

:42:06. > :42:10.your only opportunity, even if it's fraught with danger, you can't play

:42:11. > :42:13.defensively. You could argue, back in certain parts of the game, you

:42:14. > :42:18.could get away with playing more tactically but now you can't. Well,

:42:19. > :42:23.it's going to be an interesting few months for Shaun Murphy because his

:42:24. > :42:31.fiancee allaying is expecting their first child bash Elaine. Yes, he's

:42:32. > :42:35.looking forward to playing golf three or four times a week on he

:42:36. > :42:41.said, well, that's out of the window now. From Anthony McGill's point of

:42:42. > :42:45.view, very pleased with his place at the interval. Yes, he's the type of

:42:46. > :42:50.plane is a good tactical player and a good thinker in the game, so if

:42:51. > :42:53.you can get in front of Shaun Murphy, and perhaps make him go for

:42:54. > :42:57.more and more shots, that's the way to beat Shaun. Let's talk about the

:42:58. > :43:06.match on the other side of the arena at the moment, the other two Scots,

:43:07. > :43:09.McManus and Maguire. Stephen Maguire, a former semifinalist has

:43:10. > :43:14.had a nightmare in previous years and is not won a match here since

:43:15. > :43:21.2012. I wonder how this Glaswegian reflects on his time recently at the

:43:22. > :43:28.Theatre of dreams? When I first turned professional, 17, 18, they

:43:29. > :43:32.made this player is a distinction thing and that actually made us go

:43:33. > :43:38.to Sheffield, but it refused to go into the arena. I said, no, I didn't

:43:39. > :43:43.want to go, so the first time I actually walked out in the arena was

:43:44. > :43:51.as a player, which is what I wanted to do. I was buzzing, playing Ronnie

:43:52. > :43:55.O'Sullivan, as well, so although I was buzzing and nervous and that, I

:43:56. > :44:05.was just wanting, come on now, let's play. I have been there a few times

:44:06. > :44:09.now, I still go in, sit down and go, oh, it's too tight, it's far too

:44:10. > :44:19.tight. It's got a different aura about it. I'm not the biggest fan of

:44:20. > :44:23.it. I'm too big. I don't like sitting next to the guy I'm playing

:44:24. > :44:28.because for that moment, I don't like him. Sheffield at that time of

:44:29. > :44:32.year is buzzing, the sun is out usually, where the Crucible is, it

:44:33. > :44:38.is full all the time, so it's hard not to get a buzz at this biggest

:44:39. > :44:42.tour. I have played there twice in the semifinals, I like the arena a

:44:43. > :44:48.lot better because all of a sudden, it goes from two small to a

:44:49. > :44:52.completely different arena. It's a special arena when there was one

:44:53. > :44:55.table. If somebody says to me, you are not going to win it, will you

:44:56. > :45:00.still play snooker? Of course I would. It would mean more to my

:45:01. > :45:06.family than me because if I wanted, it would be for them and I would

:45:07. > :45:12.take about 5% credit. Well, he says he does not like to sit next to his

:45:13. > :45:15.opponent by ensuring likes sitting next to this man because Alan

:45:16. > :45:21.McManus is his practice partner and Alan treated, I was going to play

:45:22. > :45:28.him today but we are going to play on Saturday. As we pick it up, a

:45:29. > :45:33.break of 77, Allen, and it is McManus to play and it has all been

:45:34. > :46:29.watched by Willie Thorne and Ken Doherty.

:46:30. > :46:58.A little knuckle off the angle of the pocket there.

:46:59. > :47:05.Looks like the pink will pot into the bottom corner. Stephen Maguire

:47:06. > :47:13.just coming around to have a look at it. You can drop the red into this

:47:14. > :47:28.bottom left-hand corner pocket. And get on the pink.

:47:29. > :48:13.Plenty of reds in the open here. A 28 point lead.

:48:14. > :48:18.Doesn't that to worry about the black at the moment. Six or seven

:48:19. > :49:59.reds with pink would be enough. Just a little underhit, but still no

:50:00. > :50:53.problem. The pink in the middle is available.

:50:54. > :50:56.He is probably going to have to play a cannon or run-through for the

:50:57. > :51:40.Boston red. -- bottom red. He has done very well making this

:51:41. > :53:25.break for and counting. A bit unlucky. He follows a 77 in

:53:26. > :53:36.the first round with a 76 in frame two. HAZEL: He made it 2-1, but it

:53:37. > :53:46.was Stephen in the fourth frame with a 74. 77, 76 and 74 and a good

:53:47. > :53:51.scoring from him. It is amazing to think that McManus is here having

:53:52. > :53:55.made his debut in 1991 and 25 years later he is in his 20th campaign and

:53:56. > :53:59.you have got interesting memories of Alan from

:54:00. > :54:06.You can call it that if you like. I came here after being the champion

:54:07. > :54:11.in 1991 and he inflicted the Crucible curse on me. It was like

:54:12. > :54:18.playing against Ireland girders, you could not get rid of him, he was so

:54:19. > :54:23.tough. So, yes, I have got very fond memories of him. It says a lot about

:54:24. > :54:29.players like Alan that he can make it here again and he has made it in

:54:30. > :54:34.the last few years. He is a great campaigner and when you see it is

:54:35. > :54:39.harder to get through the qualifiers, he is done that and is a

:54:40. > :54:43.great campaigner. But many players since him have fallen back off the

:54:44. > :54:47.tour. He must be enjoying himself a bit to play like this. A tough

:54:48. > :54:54.first-round match for him. I think Stephen Maguire, if anyone else is

:54:55. > :55:00.overpriced in the betting, I reckon he could cause some problems. You

:55:01. > :55:04.say it is tough for Alan, but it is really tough for Stephen Maguire. He

:55:05. > :55:10.squeaked in as the last automatic qualifier. Yes, he bleed. He got to

:55:11. > :55:16.the semifinals in China and there was pressure in that much. He is one

:55:17. > :55:20.of the serial underachievers for me. I rate his game so highly. He is a

:55:21. > :55:26.brilliant match player and I think he should have won a bit more. We

:55:27. > :55:29.are going straight back into live coverage of the next five frames, or

:55:30. > :55:36.as long as it takes on the other table. When we left it was Shaun

:55:37. > :55:41.Murphy and Anthony McGill with two frames apiece. Here they come. They

:55:42. > :55:47.have got five more frames to play this afternoon and we are in the

:55:48. > :56:01.company of Stephen and Dennis. It is a very tight matches so far.

:56:02. > :56:07.Well, it is hard to pick a winner. I hope Anthony can carry on playing

:56:08. > :56:16.the way he did in the second and fourth frame. As the boys were

:56:17. > :56:24.saying, Shaun will carry on playing attacking snooker. That might create

:56:25. > :56:45.a few chances for Anthony. And he will have a go at this I am sure.

:56:46. > :57:05.And there we go. Shaun Murphy special there. One good positional

:57:06. > :57:27.shot here and he can get himself in and around the black spot area.

:57:28. > :57:46.He wanted to be straight on this red.

:57:47. > :57:53.That was the problem because he did not get on the red as he intended.

:57:54. > :58:00.He had to play a delicate cannon and it has all gone wrong. He does not

:58:01. > :58:44.look happy for himself. He misjudged that cannon.

:58:45. > :58:51.He does not look totally composed, Shaun Murphy. You do not normally

:58:52. > :58:57.see as many facial reactions from him as we are seeing today. That is

:58:58. > :59:19.what the Crucible can do to you in the first round.

:59:20. > :59:26.The way Shaun is looking if he is going to have another go at this

:59:27. > :59:28.because he feels he can get around the back of the black. Continue with

:59:29. > :01:06.the attacking policy. He might be able to have a go at a

:01:07. > :01:18.pot here, the one above the black. But it is a very thin one. He is

:01:19. > :01:20.looking at it, but decided on the other, avoid the double-kiss here

:01:21. > :02:20.and get back up towards the green. Shaun looked very relaxed at

:02:21. > :02:24.breakfast this morning. He told us the good news about his wife

:02:25. > :02:26.expecting their first child. He was over the moon and he is really

:02:27. > :02:42.looking forward to that. He made the plant that time. He

:02:43. > :02:47.could have done with the white bouncing a little bit further. He is

:02:48. > :02:56.going to have to roll up behind the green. That was a well-made plant.

:02:57. > :03:07.With the reds as open as they are, he can get a good snooker here.

:03:08. > :03:11.He is reluctant to roll up to the green, but there is not much else

:03:12. > :03:30.available. Shaun is looking to see if he was to

:03:31. > :03:52.land on that red would he leave the one near the black?

:03:53. > :03:56.He was looking at the two-cushion escape. He needs to be a bit careful

:03:57. > :04:32.with this. I do not think he has got that

:04:33. > :04:36.right. Maybe he can't see enough of that red.

:04:37. > :05:06.If it had travelled another inch, he might have been able to pot it.

:05:07. > :05:13.That is the sort of line he is looking at to land on that. It has

:05:14. > :06:00.to be very precise. Maybe he can take this red on along

:06:01. > :06:11.the cushion and then go for the pink into the right centre.

:06:12. > :06:24.He needs to see where he leaves the cue ball for the pink.

:06:25. > :06:31.It is one of those shots that you really need to feel confident about

:06:32. > :06:34.and get down and play it straightaway. But that red is worth

:06:35. > :06:48.a risk. Especially when you play such a bad

:06:49. > :06:52.safety. I am with you. If he had taken the pot on and played the

:06:53. > :06:58.white into the circle, he would have been on the pink as you suggested.

:06:59. > :06:59.And he would not have left anything. The balls are sitting differently

:07:00. > :07:25.now. That is a good target now, the

:07:26. > :07:33.green, brown and the blue sitting as it is. If he can get anywhere to the

:07:34. > :07:34.left of where the cue ball is now, there is every chance of getting a

:07:35. > :08:17.snooker. That was a better line. He has

:08:18. > :08:25.covered the one near the left corner. Now it is important Anthony

:08:26. > :08:26.gets a good cue ball otherwise he would leave shone with a shot at

:08:27. > :08:58.that red. He has got to risk trying to get

:08:59. > :09:02.behind the colours. I would rather than do that and put it in the jaws

:09:03. > :09:30.of the left corner pocket. Oh! I thought it was going to be a

:09:31. > :09:34.snooker behind the angle. At one stage I thought it was going to drop

:09:35. > :09:56.and snooker him on the angle and then gravity took over.

:09:57. > :10:08.This pot to the left corner will have an angle on it. I think there

:10:09. > :10:32.is a gap to get the cue ball out into the middle of the table.

:10:33. > :10:38.He was a bit unlucky. He played the shot you suggested and for a few

:10:39. > :10:42.seconds it looked like he was going to end on the black. But look at the

:10:43. > :11:08.red snow the way they are open. That at first glance looks pretty

:11:09. > :11:28.good. He has got to get this one right. He

:11:29. > :11:42.needs to get the cue ball up somewhere near the yellow pocket.

:11:43. > :11:49.That is an excellent safety. Probably one of the best today. He

:11:50. > :11:51.could quite easily have caught that red, the double-kiss was on, and he

:11:52. > :12:57.judged it to perfection. We have not had too many long bouts

:12:58. > :13:05.of safety. 61, 93, 119, they were winning the frames. It is whoever

:13:06. > :14:02.makes the first mistake in this tactical battle.

:14:03. > :14:27.But he has had a bit of a result. He could have left all sorts. He made a

:14:28. > :14:33.very thin contact, but he got away with it slightly. That would pot,

:14:34. > :14:42.but he will have to get a spider out. I don't know whether he can

:14:43. > :14:47.reach it with a rest. He has got the spider out himself. He knows where

:14:48. > :14:49.all these implements are. Usually the referee gets the spider out.

:14:50. > :15:09.This is an important shot here. He could only play it into half a

:15:10. > :15:26.pocket and he judged it well. Can he capitalise on that error from Shaun?

:15:27. > :15:36.That will be blocked after he pots it here. He would like to get rid of

:15:37. > :15:45.the red in the pink spot and bring that into play. It would not be too

:15:46. > :16:14.bad for the pink to go on the blue spot.

:16:15. > :16:37.That is as bad a shot as he is going to hit today.

:16:38. > :16:44.A fair bit of mileage left in this fifth round. We are leaving it on

:16:45. > :16:49.BBC One, but panic not, we are heading straight over to BBC Two to

:16:50. > :16:59.keep tabs on the remainder of this session. I hope you will hop over to

:17:00. > :17:02.BBC Two and join us there.
