:00:34. > :00:40.Hello and a very good morning. Snooker on a Sunday morning, you

:00:41. > :00:44.can't beat it. Welcome to the Crucible Theatre on date two of the

:00:45. > :00:47.2016 Betfred World Snooker Championship. The Crucible curse

:00:48. > :00:52.strikes once again with another first-time winner of the wonderful

:00:53. > :00:56.title, Stuart Bingham knocked out in late-night drama against Ali Carter

:00:57. > :01:02.yesterday evening. Attention now turns to the man who won the title

:01:03. > :01:03.in 2005, Shaun Murphy. We will be concentrating on his match this

:01:04. > :01:17.morning. Shaun Murphy... He probably should

:01:18. > :01:22.have been playing in the 1920s with Joe Davis, I would think. Extremely

:01:23. > :01:29.dedicated, focused, works really hard, and understands how important

:01:30. > :01:34.goal setting is. One of the best dressed players we've ever seen. Off

:01:35. > :01:40.the table he's a gentleman, more worthy of my nickname than I am.

:01:41. > :01:43.Really nice guy, hard-working, looking to improve and a great

:01:44. > :01:48.ambassador for the game. Great cue player. You don't know how he can

:01:49. > :01:55.miss when you see him play. As a lad, he's all right! I would use the

:01:56. > :02:04.word classy for Shaun Murphy. Everything he does, on and off the

:02:05. > :02:13.table, is just quality, yeah. Top lad, great cubist and a great

:02:14. > :02:22.character. Maybe doesn't have the killer instinct of some. Devastating

:02:23. > :02:26.potter, but when he gets a roll the camp will lead you off the table.

:02:27. > :02:34.One of my best friends on the circuit. Very aggressive, scores

:02:35. > :02:41.heavily. He can putter for fun. -- he can pot for fun. Shaun Murphy

:02:42. > :02:48.came very close to lifting the title last year. They run up, losing 18-15

:02:49. > :02:54.to Stuart Bingham. Making his 14th Crucible appearance. He leads going

:02:55. > :02:57.into this morning's final session, 5-4 against Scotland's Anthony

:02:58. > :03:01.McGill, who reached the quarterfinals last year, only to

:03:02. > :03:05.lose to Shaun Murphy. So he will be plotting revenge this morning.

:03:06. > :03:11.Meanwhile, world number nine Ricky Walden begins his campaign on table

:03:12. > :03:15.one, taking on Robbie Williams, the qualifier from the Wirral. If

:03:16. > :03:21.players are standing by and we can join the MC for the morning, Rob

:03:22. > :03:25.Walker. ANNOUNCER: Just one day of action and we have already seen two

:03:26. > :03:31.world champions knocked out. No easy matches at the bet Fred World

:03:32. > :03:35.Championships. We are poised and ready to go again. Sunday morning

:03:36. > :03:52.drama served in style once again in Sheffield. APPLAUSE

:03:53. > :04:02.Please welcome, a player who came through an epic deciding frame

:04:03. > :04:12.thriller against Higginson at the qualifiers to secure his Crucible

:04:13. > :04:27.appearance. The Wirral wonder, Robbie Williams.

:04:28. > :04:33.And his opponent, a three-time ranking event winner in China who

:04:34. > :04:37.enjoyed a brilliant run to the semifinals here three years ago. In

:04:38. > :04:39.a rich reign of form, making the last two ranking finals, Ricky

:04:40. > :05:05.Walden. On table two, a player who had a

:05:06. > :05:10.brilliant debut here 12 months ago, eating Maguire and Selby en route to

:05:11. > :05:15.a memorable quarterfinal against his opponent today. He was fearless and

:05:16. > :05:16.seemed to thrive on the sport's biggest stage. Scotland's smiling

:05:17. > :05:45.assassin, Anthony McGill. APPLAUSE And his opponent, a class act on

:05:46. > :05:50.them off the baize, world champion in 2005, UK champion in 2008, and he

:05:51. > :05:55.completed the triple Crown last year with a great win at the Masters. He

:05:56. > :05:58.won the world Grand Prix last month, he's poised, he's ready, he's the

:05:59. > :06:27.Magician, Shaun Murphy. Shaun Murphy against Anthony McGill

:06:28. > :06:33.live on BBC Two. If you want Ricky Walden against Robbie Williams,

:06:34. > :06:37.that's available on the red button. McGill walks out to the Smiths, so

:06:38. > :06:43.he wins the walk on music challenge, Willie Thorne and Ken Doherty.

:06:44. > :06:56.COMMENTATOR: They should walk out to Snooker Loopy. Shaun Murphy will be

:06:57. > :07:00.under a bit more pressure today. We have the darling of Dublin with me,

:07:01. > :07:08.Ken Doherty. How do you see it going? It's a tough one. I'm really

:07:09. > :07:11.looking forward to this game. They had a quarterfinal last year, Shaun

:07:12. > :07:16.Murphy was the victor, but Anthony McGill, such an important frame for

:07:17. > :07:23.him to win at the last session yesterday. Closing the gap to 5-4.

:07:24. > :07:29.He's a very capable player, and he seems to themselves here.

:07:30. > :07:33.Particularly last year, when he made a lot of friends, with the way he

:07:34. > :07:40.played and his manner around the table. The one thing that worries me

:07:41. > :07:43.about Anthony McGill, he's been missing for much of the season. I

:07:44. > :07:49.thought he would be forced to be reckoned with after last year. But

:07:50. > :07:55.it's not until this tournament again. He came through the

:07:56. > :07:59.qualifying process. It will give him some momentum coming into this

:08:00. > :08:36.match. He needs a good start, I think.

:08:37. > :08:46.Shaun Murphy always wants to be very aggressive, but sometimes I think he

:08:47. > :08:50.pushes out the boat a bit too much. Can you turn the earpiece down

:08:51. > :08:59.please. Somebody has their earpiece onto loud. -- on too loud.

:09:00. > :09:11.Straightforward safety shot off against the black.

:09:12. > :09:23.So confident in those long pots. Such a trademark of his game.

:09:24. > :09:33.Sometimes he does push out the boat, and it can cost in frames. On this

:09:34. > :09:38.occasion... The only thing Shaun Murphy doesn't want to do is give it

:09:39. > :09:39.easy to Anthony McGill and let him get his confidence up. Particularly

:09:40. > :10:13.at the top of the session. He has left the red into the left

:10:14. > :10:16.centre, and it looks like it goes. Careless safety shot from Anthony

:10:17. > :10:23.McGill. Almost like a free shot for Shaun Murphy.

:10:24. > :10:30.APPLAUSE The reason I say it safely shut,

:10:31. > :10:39.there was no pressure because he wasn't going to leave anything.

:10:40. > :10:44.Massive target, just a go at the bunch, and he's bound to be on the

:10:45. > :10:48.red above the black. Perhaps a fraction harder will have brought

:10:49. > :11:55.the cue ball away from the pack, but that's OK.

:11:56. > :12:02.Shaun Murphy is lovely to watch. Gets on with it, doesn't mess about

:12:03. > :12:06.and plays every attacking shot he can think of. Always tries to win

:12:07. > :12:17.the frame at one visit. And he cues so smoothly as well. He had a chance

:12:18. > :12:21.there to take a red into the centre and go for blue, but took the more

:12:22. > :12:36.difficult option to get onto the black. This is four reds, four

:12:37. > :12:43.lacks. -- four blacks. It's early days, and I don't want to tempt

:12:44. > :12:52.fate, but he looks alert. I only say that because of the position of the

:12:53. > :13:03.balls. Three or four loose reds there.

:13:04. > :13:10.He can take the red into the right centre and back for the black again.

:13:11. > :13:32.Go to the right of the pink, maybe. The key thing we always say when you

:13:33. > :13:40.are seeing people go for maximums, go for two reds, not just one. It's

:13:41. > :13:48.great to get a maximum, but at this stage the frame is more important.

:13:49. > :13:57.That red there, I don't know if it pots. If it does, it would be a

:13:58. > :14:01.great opportunity. Not getting on it this time, but if that red

:14:02. > :14:08.underneath the bunch of five below the pink pots, it will open things

:14:09. > :14:11.up should he get on it. Yes, there's a large gap through the cluster of

:14:12. > :14:17.five to get to the middle read. It's a possibility. Moving that red out

:14:18. > :14:31.of the way, it will open up another couple of reds.

:14:32. > :14:40.If you can track this red in the riddle of the bunch of five, that's

:14:41. > :14:57.the one. Well, not trying on this occasion. Still in a good position.

:14:58. > :15:07.The highest break is ?10,000, and a ?20,000 bonus for the 147. Possible

:15:08. > :15:12.30,000 at stake. Looking like he might try to force through the pack.

:15:13. > :15:17.Straight enough to get on it. He knows in his own mind he will go for

:15:18. > :15:25.it. He might have to play the cannon this time. Just the red Ken was

:15:26. > :15:29.talking about, hit that and hopefully open up a couple of extra

:15:30. > :15:34.ones. Is he straight onto the middle? I don't think so, he's

:15:35. > :15:36.shaking his head. Now it's time to play for a lower baulk colour. It's

:15:37. > :15:54.an important frame. Yeah, that was unlucky. The anchor

:15:55. > :15:58.on the red to stun down to the Blackwood have been the one. Having

:15:59. > :16:07.a look at the red into the yellow pocket. -- stunned down to the black

:16:08. > :16:12.would have been. Very wise, making sure of the frame.

:16:13. > :17:34.Still a possible 141, if he takes this pink and takes three reds and

:17:35. > :17:40.three blacks, it would certainly set a target for the rest of the

:17:41. > :17:42.players. 141, you couldn't see that possibly staying,... Possible 140

:17:43. > :18:03.now. This could be the seventh century of

:18:04. > :18:05.the tournament. One previously in this match, that was in frames

:18:06. > :18:17.seven. APPLAUSE

:18:18. > :18:24.Still very impressive, I would say. Looks to be cueing very nicely

:18:25. > :18:27.indeed. I always liked the way he acknowledges the crowd's support.

:18:28. > :18:33.When Shaun Murphy makes a century he nods his head to appreciate. What a

:18:34. > :18:41.shame, not the clearance, but he's off to the flying start he needed.

:18:42. > :18:44.He goes two clear, 6-4. It was so important, especially with Anthony

:18:45. > :18:49.McGill winning the final frame last night, to stamp his authority early.

:18:50. > :18:55.He knows if he lets McGill into this game, he's quite capable of beating

:18:56. > :18:59.him will stop absolutely. Careless shot from Anthony McGill, that pot

:19:00. > :19:04.into the middle to leave him a free shot. He didn't get on the black the

:19:05. > :19:12.way he would have liked. He had to go into the packed here, played it

:19:13. > :19:18.nicely, but when we see the split, didn't quite do it, needed more spin

:19:19. > :19:23.and to be higher in the pack. Because the two reds he went into

:19:24. > :19:29.were virtually touching, it took the pace off. He didn't get the desired

:19:30. > :19:32.screw off the reds. If they had been an inch apart, he would have got

:19:33. > :19:44.more cue ball movement to go through the pack better. Unlucky not to be

:19:45. > :19:48.on the black. Certainly, it was on. Do you think Sean sometimes pushes

:19:49. > :19:54.out the boat a bit too much? It's just the way he plays. But he is so

:19:55. > :20:01.confident with his long ball game, and it's such a big part of his

:20:02. > :20:04.game. That's how he gets in to start scoring. But it can cost in frames.

:20:05. > :20:24.But that's the way he plays. Has the brown come to the rescue?

:20:25. > :21:16.Looks like it has. He has been very fortunate there.

:21:17. > :21:25.Could have left the red into the corner pocket a lot easier. Slightly

:21:26. > :21:26.hampered by the yellow, making this pot more difficult than it could

:21:27. > :22:02.have been. Played it nicely. Purposely played

:22:03. > :22:09.over that side of the table. He was blocking the other red with the

:22:10. > :22:13.blue. Quite nicely worked out. Yes, he played it as a shock to nothing.

:22:14. > :22:18.Got the white exactly where he wanted if he missed it, but now the

:22:19. > :22:23.red has gone in, I Nacho he can hit slow enough to remain on the red

:22:24. > :22:35.left of the blue. He might lose the white. That's why he's played in and

:22:36. > :22:37.out of baulk. Tell you what, he cute that in very well. So difficult with

:22:38. > :23:02.that amount of pace. -- he cued. Perfect pace again. This table is

:23:03. > :23:06.certainly playing better than the other table. It's amazing how the

:23:07. > :23:14.tables should be identical, with the same cloths, but the other table

:23:15. > :23:19.seems to be flying all the time, and this one is playing perfectly. There

:23:20. > :23:30.were a lot of kicks and a few bounces on the other table.

:23:31. > :23:36.Certainly aren't table one, there seemed to be a lot of bounces and

:23:37. > :23:39.players were complaining about it yesterday, and kicks as well. So

:23:40. > :23:48.far, this table has been really good.

:23:49. > :23:57.Very capable break-builder, Anthony McGill. His highest break in

:23:58. > :24:00.tournament play is 144, and he sat 93 career centuries. Considering

:24:01. > :24:04.he's only been playing on television for the last couple of years,

:24:05. > :24:10.despite being a professional a lot longer, it shows you what a prospect

:24:11. > :24:13.he is. I'm sure we all think the same. He does look like a young

:24:14. > :24:27.Steve Davis, doesn't he! He took a risk in trying to kiss the

:24:28. > :25:16.full ball down to the half bald black. -- the half ball black.

:25:17. > :25:20.If he plays it playing ball, he might kiss into the black. He's

:25:21. > :25:28.trying to avoid that kiss. Needs that white to slow up. Good

:25:29. > :26:10.shot. Just when he got the ball is in

:26:11. > :26:14.position to score heavily enough to put him over the winning line in

:26:15. > :26:17.this frame, he's missed an easy one. Did that two or three times

:26:18. > :26:25.yesterday, missing blacks on the spot, and this should have been an

:26:26. > :26:32.unmissable red. Shaking his head, he knows it could have been costly.

:26:33. > :26:50.Excellent, very clever shot. Very, very unfortunate. Brown ball. Very

:26:51. > :26:54.aggressive shot. Unlucky. High on the brown, but has second prize

:26:55. > :27:21.because it might be difficult to hit and get safe.

:27:22. > :27:28.He could try to nestle into the two reds below the pink that are close

:27:29. > :27:33.together. I tell you what, that's not bad! I was about to put a line

:27:34. > :27:39.up there to say nestle into these, that he crashes the roof. But he's

:27:40. > :27:46.had a result. A result?! It's a miracle. A little smile, he is

:27:47. > :27:50.laughing, and he's entitled to. Leave that in the jaws and it's

:27:51. > :27:57.possibly frame over. Eddie Charles was the first player I saw do that

:27:58. > :28:01.many years ago, a hit and hope. He knows ten three Mac might still pot

:28:02. > :28:07.in the middle, but there's still a lot of danger in the shot and he

:28:08. > :29:26.will leave a lot on if he misses. -- he knows Shaun.

:29:27. > :29:35.The black will go on its own spot now. Reds in a perfect position. He

:29:36. > :29:40.could get a frame on the board now, second session of this best of 19

:29:41. > :30:30.match. It will bring him back to within one frame again.

:30:31. > :30:36.59 points in front and he would like to have been better on this black

:30:37. > :30:42.than he is. I am not saying there is any chance of him missing it but the

:30:43. > :30:45.fact he has left it very thin, it could be frame ball. He should be

:30:46. > :32:02.OK. Only a possible 99 on if he takes

:32:03. > :32:07.two reds and two blacks. But what a start to the session. It has been a

:32:08. > :32:17.good match throughout. Long breaks in most frames. He just missed the

:32:18. > :32:23.cannon. With it being typed on the cushion, he may be able to put this

:32:24. > :32:27.in down the cushion. Left-handed? I did not know he played left-handed

:32:28. > :32:33.as well. I have not seen that before from him. Perhaps he does not play

:32:34. > :32:39.left-handed! But what a fantastic break that was from Anthony McGill.

:32:40. > :32:48.A couple of breaks of 64 and 35. Anthony McGill gets one back. Ken, I

:32:49. > :32:54.know you were just about to put a line-up when he was snookered and

:32:55. > :32:58.then this happened. I did not have time. I was trying to figure out

:32:59. > :33:03.where he could keep it safe. I thought he might try to drop it in

:33:04. > :33:09.dead weight. The two reds below the pink spot. But then he smacks it.

:33:10. > :33:14.This is exactly what happened. He hits it 100 miles an hour and it

:33:15. > :33:22.just caught in the jaws. What a result. It forced him into this

:33:23. > :33:28.shot. Let's talk about the frame of mind. If Shaun Murphy had been left

:33:29. > :33:33.in that position, he would have put that in. The fact he is coming in

:33:34. > :33:42.with the anger that he got away with that, you get down for the shot with

:33:43. > :33:47.a slightly different thought. He says, how lucky was he? And he is

:33:48. > :33:55.right. Sometimes he does that type of shot, he takes those on. But also

:33:56. > :34:00.where he left the white. Anthony McGill Julia bride. Sometimes you

:34:01. > :34:13.have got to take your luck when it is running with you. Shaun Murphy,

:34:14. > :34:23.once again trying to establish a two frame lead. He led 5-3 and then 6-4.

:34:24. > :34:28.But Anthony McGill has come back. Very important times now for both

:34:29. > :34:33.these players. There will be a little bit of news jingling shortly.

:34:34. > :35:40.-- nerves. Goodness me. A wonderful shot. To

:35:41. > :35:48.have no shot on a colour is very unfortunate. And to be honest, the

:35:49. > :35:52.safety shot is not easy now. He will have two glass on the black and make

:35:53. > :35:58.sure he covers the red on this pocket. A negative safety shot, that

:35:59. > :36:03.is all he can do. He may be leaving a pot into the yellow pocket but he

:36:04. > :36:32.has got to take that chance. He can't do anything about that.

:36:33. > :36:38.I am not too sure whether the right-hand one of the two reds pots

:36:39. > :36:48.into the yellow pocket. Perhaps it doesn't. What do you think at home?

:36:49. > :36:55.I think it is very tight. To be honest, looking at that picture

:36:56. > :37:00.closely, I think that red is on. He has busy decided it is not because

:37:01. > :37:17.he is looking at where he wants to leave the cue ball in the Brazil.

:37:18. > :37:35.He decided that he had to play a containing safety shot, knowing he

:37:36. > :37:48.wasn't gaining too much advantage from it. And he can't stand the red

:37:49. > :37:58.of the table. If he just rolls the cue ball into the red, it is

:37:59. > :38:09.possible that he will force Anthony McGill to play away from it. I am

:38:10. > :38:14.not sure what else he can do here. He could try and screw the cue ball

:38:15. > :38:23.back to the cushion. That is another option.

:38:24. > :38:38.That is as good as anything, isn't it? It is just a little bit off the

:38:39. > :38:42.baulk cushion. He would have liked it to have been a little bit

:38:43. > :39:07.tighter. He may be able to screw the ball back to the baulk cushion.

:39:08. > :39:16.He has had a couple of slices of luck and Shaun Murphy's luck has

:39:17. > :39:21.turned against him. Rolling up to the brown on these superfine cloth,

:39:22. > :39:26.for me, is not an option these days. It is probably better to play off

:39:27. > :39:30.the yellow and get tight to the cushion. This is dangerous. If you

:39:31. > :39:36.are a little bit closer to the brown, it is not so bad. You hardly

:39:37. > :39:43.ever leave eight hatching ball with these clocks now. The only problem

:39:44. > :39:49.is, if he leaves it on the cushion, he may possibly leaving a pop. --

:39:50. > :40:14.pot. But it is such a delicate shot. I think this is a good choice, to be

:40:15. > :40:28.honest. Definitely a chance for Shaun Murphy to get back into baulk,

:40:29. > :40:31.that is for certain. I am not sure whether he can hit the red fine

:40:32. > :41:02.enough. It is a bit risky. If he can get the cue ball somewhere

:41:03. > :41:11.down her, he could have got in behind that red it would have been

:41:12. > :41:16.better. Possibly block. I am not sure whether he can see the red over

:41:17. > :41:29.the left centre now. Not quite, by the looks of it.

:41:30. > :41:47.Even though there is only the black and brown on this box, you would

:41:48. > :41:52.think it would be hard to score heavily, but with the colours are,

:41:53. > :41:56.they are still in open play so whether pots the next red, you would

:41:57. > :42:37.expect them to part 40 or 50 point at least.

:42:38. > :42:52.This safety battle is getting harder and harder. How does he get it safe

:42:53. > :43:01.from here? Where Ken put the 22 balls that is probably the only

:43:02. > :43:12.place he can leave it safe. -- the two cue balls up. That is a possible

:43:13. > :43:14.shot, try and screw of this red and try and get the cue ball down behind

:43:15. > :43:37.the brown. I love Shaun Murphy, he is one of my

:43:38. > :43:40.favourite players, one of my closest friends, but he can't keep pushing

:43:41. > :43:46.the boat out like that. Looking at the frame scores today from the

:43:47. > :43:52.whole match, if he does not make a 50 or above in a frame, he loses the

:43:53. > :44:14.frame. I know he is in trouble but you have got to try a safety shot.

:44:15. > :44:24.He probably has the philosophy, he would rather go out by missing a pot

:44:25. > :44:31.than playing a bad safety shot. That is the way he feels he has to play.

:44:32. > :44:37.It is a potter's way out of trouble. That safety shot was on but he might

:44:38. > :44:39.have left something. But I am with you a little bit, I don't think he

:44:40. > :45:00.looks around the table enough. He has gifted Anthony McGill, who

:45:01. > :45:06.had a slice of luck in the last frame and a fluke in this frame. He

:45:07. > :45:08.has dominated the safety end of things in this match and that has

:45:09. > :45:39.kept him in control. You have to say, the way the balls

:45:40. > :45:45.are positioned, you can't see him making any mistakes from her. He

:45:46. > :45:55.doesn't have to do too much with the cue ball. This is 30 points as we

:45:56. > :46:01.speak and there is pink and black. Three at the business end of the

:46:02. > :46:05.table pockets. He can't get through this frame without having to worry

:46:06. > :46:08.about yellow, green and blue. Ideally he would like to get the

:46:09. > :46:15.blue back on its own spot to clear that pocket. But he can definitely

:46:16. > :46:31.win the frame without worrying too much about that.

:46:32. > :47:27.64 is the target break he needs. There is a possible 130 on her.

:47:28. > :47:34.There doesn't seem anything wrong with McGill's game, does there. He

:47:35. > :47:37.has got a good safety game, a good temperament. It is strange to think

:47:38. > :47:47.why he has been missing for the best part of this year. Like most sports,

:47:48. > :47:56.it is a confidence run, momentum. He looks pretty confident today.

:47:57. > :48:02.Sometimes, when you don't win enough matches, it is a vicious circle. It

:48:03. > :48:06.is either one way or the other. Maybe he has just struggled in

:48:07. > :48:11.matches this season and he has not been that confident. Maybe winning a

:48:12. > :48:16.few matches in the qualifiers last week, he came through some tough

:48:17. > :48:22.matches, particularly in his last qualifier, he missed the black for a

:48:23. > :48:26.147 in that particular match. But it was a good test and may be that gave

:48:27. > :48:39.him the missing confidence he has needed. He has looked very assured

:48:40. > :48:45.of himself out there, he looks calm. His opponent made a break of 140,

:48:46. > :49:39.144, and he still managed to beat him.

:49:40. > :49:52.The quality of this match has been excellent, hasn't it?

:49:53. > :50:42.In this morning's session, we have already had breaks of 105 and 64.

:50:43. > :50:56.A chance now of another century. It would be McGill's second if he was

:50:57. > :51:02.to get it. What a shame. He won that safety battle and he has won the

:51:03. > :51:07.frame. He is now level at 6-6. I have got to talk about the shop

:51:08. > :51:12.where I criticised Shaun for not trying to think of something.

:51:13. > :51:16.Obviously he was in deep trouble. I am not sure saying he should not go

:51:17. > :51:22.for the part but there must have been something. He did go for the

:51:23. > :51:26.pot into the bottom right corner pocket but I have put up a couple of

:51:27. > :51:31.lines of what he could have played. Anthony McGill earlier in the frame

:51:32. > :51:40.hit the red down the table and had a fluke. I have put a line from red to

:51:41. > :51:45.yellow. He certainly has the cue power to screw off the red, off the

:51:46. > :51:49.side push on and try and land the cue ball somewhere in the Bulgaria

:51:50. > :51:54.and try and force your opponent, if he wants to have a go, have a go,

:51:55. > :51:59.but anywhere behind the brown on the baulk cushion would have been a

:52:00. > :52:03.difficult shot for Anthony McGill. I know the red could have gone

:52:04. > :52:07.anywhere, could have come at the table, but this was such a difficult

:52:08. > :52:20.shot. If you played it ten times, how many times would you pot it? Me?

:52:21. > :52:25.Once or twice out of ten, maybe. But he is such a good player and he is

:52:26. > :52:30.confident in potting that but he could have had a look around the

:52:31. > :52:38.table, he could have seen another option and maybe he might have still

:52:39. > :52:40.been in that frame. But he handed the frame to Anthony McGill and all

:52:41. > :54:10.of a sudden it is 6-6. He seems to be competing with Seo --

:54:11. > :54:36.Shaun in the safety Department. The red to the extreme left of the

:54:37. > :54:37.table, does not seem to be any problem getting the white back to

:54:38. > :55:17.baulk. Obviously intended to play it a

:55:18. > :55:22.little bit thicker than that but he has not left the red on. He wanted

:55:23. > :55:54.to leave the white closer to the cushion.

:55:55. > :56:02.I don't know whether he got a bad bounce off the cushion there but

:56:03. > :56:06.that was a poor safety. Another one of those tempters for Shaun. This

:56:07. > :56:42.will test his mettle. He played it with a lot of

:56:43. > :56:49.confidence and it was available to the left corner pocket. He played it

:56:50. > :56:53.a lot softer and tried to screw it back into baulk. This is a massive

:56:54. > :57:08.frame for both players. The moment has swung now towards

:57:09. > :57:14.Anthony McGill. It is a bigger frame for Shaun Murphy just to steady the

:57:15. > :57:16.ship a little bit. Particularly after what has happened in the last

:57:17. > :58:36.couple of frames. A little bit troublesome for Anthony

:58:37. > :58:40.McGill here. There are two easy safety shots. The red behind the

:58:41. > :58:46.pink or the red behind the black. But each one will be pushing a red

:58:47. > :58:51.towards the right-hand corner. The red will go right over the pocket.

:58:52. > :59:00.If he thinks it will, he will look for an alternative. This is a lot

:59:01. > :59:05.more difficult safety shot. This is a shot where he thinks he has a

:59:06. > :59:07.chance of not pushing the red over the corner. But it is a brilliant

:59:08. > :59:56.safety shot. Well played. Very good. Anthony McGill has won the safety

:59:57. > :00:01.battle. He has a pottable red in the corner but it would be some shot to

:00:02. > :00:04.play the kids to get onto the black. There are three reds next to the

:00:05. > :00:11.black on the left-hand side. If he can play that cannon, he may have

:00:12. > :00:12.two risk that. He can't get back into baulk so it is a shock to

:00:13. > :01:49.nothing. Unlucky. He had to risk it. Just struggling a little bit with

:01:50. > :01:52.the pace at the moment, Shaun. Trying to swing it around three

:01:53. > :02:05.cushions this time to get back to the green.

:02:06. > :02:16.I suppose he could play two cushions, and bring them brown into

:02:17. > :02:50.play. Foul and a miss. Anthony McGill

:02:51. > :03:11.four. Quiet please! Don't quite know what he's working

:03:12. > :03:17.out there, putting on his cue onto the table. He feels there is a plant

:03:18. > :03:22.on, scoring one red into the other. The plant does look on, you can see

:03:23. > :03:28.it, but can't see the red directly, so is having to play off the red

:03:29. > :03:37.just next to it. Looks almost dead set there. Hit them simultaneously,

:03:38. > :03:42.and I think you will be OK. Screwing back to baulk, back to the blue, he

:03:43. > :03:51.will be OK. Has to be careful of the Inn off.

:03:52. > :04:09.APPLAUSE Lovely kiss, and he can get up to

:04:10. > :04:14.the two reds just below the pink. Sometimes when it's going with you,

:04:15. > :04:25.it's certainly going with you. Perfect angle to stun into the reds.

:04:26. > :04:47.He will be disappointed with that. Didn't expect to get into the cue

:04:48. > :04:51.ball that much. In fairness, it's the first bit of bad luck he's had

:04:52. > :05:00.in a while. He would've expected to move a few reds into Lay after that

:05:01. > :05:42.shot, but he only brought one in. -- into play.

:05:43. > :05:48.Putting Shaun into a lot more trouble than Shaun is putting him

:05:49. > :06:12.into. Looks like he's trying to swerve

:06:13. > :06:17.around the green and get the white ball back to baulk. Excellent shot,

:06:18. > :06:30.doesn't deserve to go in. Excellent safety shot, well played. -- to go

:06:31. > :06:32.in-off. Never easy when you asked our swerving with a lot of side

:06:33. > :06:53.spin. McGill just has to be careful here.

:06:54. > :06:56.He might push a red towards the bottom corner pocket. Definitely

:06:57. > :07:46.room between all the reds. Once again, McGill wins the safety

:07:47. > :08:08.battle. The boy is playing very well. This

:08:09. > :08:17.time, no kiss, but the brown is available to the middle, should he

:08:18. > :08:22.want to take it. Excellent cueing, not it in, and get so much top spin

:08:23. > :08:30.on the cue ball to land there. -- knocked it in. Doesn't fancy taking

:08:31. > :08:38.the brown on into the right centre, and I don't blame him for that. He

:08:39. > :09:07.can start to take control of this match. Green ball.

:09:08. > :09:15.At first glance, I can't see in Avenue back to baulk. I think Shaun

:09:16. > :09:23.could play the pot next to the yellow, get the white right to the

:09:24. > :09:30.corner pocket. I don't see how he can get back to baulk. This is a

:09:31. > :09:39.possibility. It's a delicate one, he has to get the right connection on

:09:40. > :09:49.the red on the way down, miss the black ball on the way down.

:09:50. > :09:55.That was the problem, quite close to the corner pocket. He has to miss

:09:56. > :09:59.the black and the corner pocket. Anthony McGill, good safety shot,

:10:00. > :10:19.forcing another opening. I'm not saying Shaun wasn't in

:10:20. > :10:23.trouble, he was in an awful lot of trouble, but he will be disappointed

:10:24. > :10:30.to have lost another safety battle. Can Anthony McGill possibly take the

:10:31. > :10:32.lead for the second time in the match? He led 3-2 but hasn't been in

:10:33. > :11:34.front since then. Look how close they are in balls

:11:35. > :11:41.potted. It's amazing how close the stats are. At one point in the Bing-

:11:42. > :11:48.Carter match, at one point they had potted around 1200 calls each. Some

:11:49. > :11:53.amazing stat 's that come up. -- in the Bingham - Carter match. -- 1200

:11:54. > :12:07.balls each. Still not guaranteed to win the

:12:08. > :12:15.frame at this visit. The reds are still messy. He's getting into the

:12:16. > :12:20.pink every time from these reds below the black spot. It's tough. He

:12:21. > :12:25.will have to get the black re-spotted at some stage. Looking if

:12:26. > :12:34.it's worth risking playing for green or pink with this shot. Went for

:12:35. > :12:56.pink, but he has the option of blue. I think he will go for pink.

:12:57. > :13:01.131 points without reply at the moment. That's how much Anthony

:13:02. > :13:08.McGill has dominated the last couple of frames. Just gone slightly

:13:09. > :13:20.awkward. Just wanted to get on this thread

:13:21. > :13:28.and stun it in for the pink, but he can't do that now. Has to drop it

:13:29. > :13:32.and take the pink to the middle. The way he has been playing, you would

:13:33. > :13:50.expect him to pot this. A bit of pressure on this. He has been cueing

:13:51. > :14:25.so nicely. Certainly rallied since the opening frame of this session.

:14:26. > :14:37.Off the cushion for the top red of the four.

:14:38. > :15:04.Just one more red with a colour. Just be sure of taking the frame.

:15:05. > :15:18.This really has been a tremendous first four frames from Anthony

:15:19. > :15:21.McGill, since the opening frame of the session, McGill has dominated

:15:22. > :15:48.every department, safety, break-building.

:15:49. > :16:23.He hasn't beaten Shaun in the four attempts see has played him.

:16:24. > :16:32.Clever shot, risk bringing the yellow interplay. Really good shot,

:16:33. > :16:53.in that last shot. Very well played. The fact that he

:16:54. > :16:57.brought the yellow interplay at his previous shot now means the century

:16:58. > :17:10.is a reality. Should be a reality. It's amazing, did all the hard work.

:17:11. > :17:13.The important thing was to win the frame. He has won three of the first

:17:14. > :17:28.four to take the lead. Ken Doherty has popped out of the

:17:29. > :17:31.commentary box to look back at that cracking first session. At the start

:17:32. > :17:35.of the programme we talked about McGill possibly getting revenge on

:17:36. > :17:41.Murphy for the quarterfinals last year. He's in the groove and he's

:17:42. > :17:45.cueing really well. He is, and he's had a big slice of luck which has

:17:46. > :17:49.changed the whole session. Shaun Murphy started off tremendously

:17:50. > :17:52.well, winning the first frame. He had Anthony McGill in trouble behind

:17:53. > :17:57.the brown. He took the option of coming off the side cushion. I was

:17:58. > :18:01.trying to put up the line, trying to get it safe, but he came off the

:18:02. > :18:06.side cushion and smashed into the reds, getting it a bit safe. Shaun

:18:07. > :18:11.Murphy went for red into the middle and missed it, and since then the

:18:12. > :18:15.whole match has changed. We say some designs in snooker that one shot,

:18:16. > :18:18.one ball, one missed ball, can change the whole match, and at the

:18:19. > :18:26.moment it's that shot that has changed the complexion. Shaun might

:18:27. > :18:31.even pop in here to pot some balls during the interval. Will you be

:18:32. > :18:35.worried? Absolutely. McGill has dominated the last three frames.

:18:36. > :18:41.Moment has swung in his favour. He's getting the of the safety. He

:18:42. > :18:48.flicked the ball on another frame when he was in trouble. He's in

:18:49. > :18:52.control. The interval has come at a good time for Shaun Murphy. You can

:18:53. > :18:58.regroup, get his head together and talk to his coach, relax, and then

:18:59. > :19:02.is the next session. We talked about last year's tournament about Anthony

:19:03. > :19:06.McGill. A lot of players in the media and who know the game, you all

:19:07. > :19:13.think highly of this young man from Scotland. Absolutely. Some players

:19:14. > :19:17.can get a bit intimidated by the atmosphere here, the proximity of

:19:18. > :19:19.people in the crowd. And it is the World Championship, the one

:19:20. > :19:24.everybody wants to get their hands on. But Anthony McGill, has a smile

:19:25. > :19:31.on, looks relaxed and composed. Hasn't had a great season but he

:19:32. > :19:34.likes this championship. He lost to Shaun in the quarterfinals last

:19:35. > :19:43.year. He's keeping his head, which is what you have to do at this

:19:44. > :19:47.level. The players on their interval. We can show you what

:19:48. > :19:51.happened to Stuart Bingham last night, a cracking game, a final

:19:52. > :19:53.frame decider against Ali Carter and Bingham is at the table trailing by

:19:54. > :20:16.36. COMMENTATOR: Clever shot. Ali Carter had a chance to play a

:20:17. > :20:20.similar type of shot a while ago. Rather than play the snooker he

:20:21. > :20:30.decided to knock the blues safe. It's all about opinions.

:20:31. > :20:40.That's not close. Foul and a miss. Stuart Bingham, four. Valuable

:20:41. > :21:09.points for Stuart Bingham. Foul and a miss. Stuart Bingham,

:21:10. > :21:16.four. He's so conscious of leaving the cue ball the far side of the red

:21:17. > :21:21.leave the pot on. Valuable points for Stuart Bingham. Absolutely. He

:21:22. > :21:48.has left it on for the middle. It was always difficult with the cue

:21:49. > :21:57.ball and object ball being so close together to get run on required to

:21:58. > :21:59.get close to the pink. If I was Stuart now I would be making certain

:22:00. > :22:11.of these six points. What a shot he's played here. Does

:22:12. > :22:20.he get the kiss on the red? Unlucky. Great effort.

:22:21. > :22:34.Suddenly, this frame is back in the balance.

:22:35. > :22:41.Another poor safety shot from Stuart. He has played so many that

:22:42. > :22:46.are just tentative. You have to get to the Baltic cushion with the cue

:22:47. > :22:53.ball. Don't leave your opponent with his hand on the table. -- to the

:22:54. > :23:01.baulk cushion. This thread has gone to the pocket! A bit of luck

:23:02. > :23:02.involved in that, but Stuart only had himself to blame, should have

:23:03. > :23:26.found the baulk cushion. Taking the opportunity to get

:23:27. > :23:30.another ball safe. Not certain whether Stuart can get past the pink

:23:31. > :23:39.to make contact with the red. I think you can. Ali Carter assuming

:23:40. > :23:43.that the yellow is now safe, the blue is safe. Two balls that are

:23:44. > :23:50.nice insurance policies for him. Could send this red pretty close to

:23:51. > :24:13.the yellow here. Didn't fancy playing with a lot of

:24:14. > :24:22.pace. Has he got the snooker? He can't have, surely. Looking at Ali

:24:23. > :24:30.Carter's face, he has. A picture paints a thousand words. We talked

:24:31. > :24:34.previously of Stuart only having himself to blame when Ali had the

:24:35. > :24:49.double. He could have nestled up to the

:24:50. > :24:53.green. Only had to hit the green full ball and it would have been a

:24:54. > :25:07.very difficult circumstance to get out of.

:25:08. > :25:15.Easy enough swerve but he had to judge the pace of it. We'll Stuart

:25:16. > :25:20.be tempted by this? Could play the pot and possibly can in the yellow

:25:21. > :25:28.away from the side cushion. -- cannon the yellow. But he knows he's

:25:29. > :26:05.at the point of return. Red and pink will do. But can he

:26:06. > :26:10.plot this slow enough to get the pink? If he goes up for the green

:26:11. > :26:32.all of a sudden he needs the yellow. -- can he pot.

:26:33. > :26:52.The crown is slipping. This pink to go 29 in front with 27 remaining.

:26:53. > :26:57.It's there, so Stuart Bingham, if he's going to stay in the

:26:58. > :27:18.tournament, he has to get a snooker. Has to be said, it's been a great

:27:19. > :27:23.performance from Ali Carter from 9-8 down. I thought he was a beaten man,

:27:24. > :27:37.his body language, he looked like he had nothing left in the tank.

:27:38. > :27:46.I was of exactly the same opinion. After Stuart walked off in the 18th

:27:47. > :27:50.frame, Ali got down to play a red is though that was it. But for a

:27:51. > :27:56.snooker, he will be in the second round. STUDIO: Before you think

:27:57. > :28:00.Stuart Bingham is out of this, further drama to come. The defending

:28:01. > :28:03.champion still battling away. COMMENTATOR: Another one where you

:28:04. > :28:13.would have thought Ali would hit from behind.

:28:14. > :28:22.And it looks like he may have got the snooker here. If he has, Stuart

:28:23. > :28:32.Bingham has got to hit it and has got to get it safe. Otherwise his

:28:33. > :28:34.title defence is over. Could just get through to it. Needing the cue

:28:35. > :28:45.ball to run hard. Could that be Stuart's last shot? He

:28:46. > :28:52.has been a great ambassador in the last 12 months. It could be coming

:28:53. > :29:01.to an end, the title of world champion, right here. Right now!

:29:02. > :29:05.He put up a great defence, didn't play well in the first session of

:29:06. > :29:25.this match. And he has fully fluked the blue. Any hope Stuart

:29:26. > :29:31.Bingham had of winning the championship again, Stuart Bingham

:29:32. > :29:39.won the first frame and when 85 behind. Then he went in front, great

:29:40. > :29:42.response from Carter to win the match 10-9. Every creditor Stuart

:29:43. > :29:47.Bingham. A great sportsman to the end. No doubt he will be back, but

:29:48. > :29:53.it's Ali Carter who advances to the second round. It's just

:29:54. > :29:59.unbelievable. It was so difficult to get over the line. It was always

:30:00. > :30:11.going to be a really tight game, you could sense the way it was going,

:30:12. > :30:16.5-1, 5-5, 8-5, 8-8. There was only a couple of balls here and there that

:30:17. > :30:26.made the difference. The table was really playing difficult. Lots of

:30:27. > :30:31.things. When he fluked the snooker, a one-cushion escape. Loads of kicks

:30:32. > :30:36.and bounces. What I won, so I'm delighted. Delighted to get through.

:30:37. > :30:39.It's hard out there. I don't feel like a qualifier, feel fresh as a

:30:40. > :30:43.daisy. A few days off, and I will be back.

:30:44. > :30:50.I beat Stephen Hendrie the first time here. It is not nice getting

:30:51. > :31:00.beaten in the first round after winning it but it was a tough draw

:31:01. > :31:04.but I made too many mistakes myself. You have got to say, well played,

:31:05. > :31:10.Ali Carter, and the Crucible curse strikes again. It is amazing. It has

:31:11. > :31:14.gone on for so many years and I know how it feels because I have been in

:31:15. > :31:18.that position before. But take nothing away from Stuart Bingham. He

:31:19. > :31:25.has been a great ambassador, he has enjoyed himself as world champion,

:31:26. > :31:30.and he has brought it with him everywhere. He has been brilliant

:31:31. > :31:35.all year. It is disappointing that he has lost but a great story for

:31:36. > :31:38.Ali Carter. He got in front in the opening frame and that first session

:31:39. > :31:43.must have felt like a bit of a blurred because Ali Carter played so

:31:44. > :31:47.well. When you are looking at Stuart Bingham, his body language, we were

:31:48. > :31:52.watching him at around 7pm last night, you knew he was facing an

:31:53. > :31:55.uphill task. It was always going to be a tough match against Ali Carter

:31:56. > :32:00.because he has got a lot of experience. It was a tough draw for

:32:01. > :32:08.Stuart Bingham. The two players he wanted to avoid was probably Ali

:32:09. > :32:12.Carter and doing. It was always going to be an uphill struggle,

:32:13. > :32:16.particularly because you are defending champion. You know about

:32:17. > :32:21.the curse, you know about the history. And a brief word about Ali

:32:22. > :32:26.Carter, he said he does not seem such as a qualifier. He did not play

:32:27. > :32:30.like a qualifier. No, and whether he plays next is going to be in for a

:32:31. > :32:36.tough match as well. On his day, he can beat anybody. Here is another

:32:37. > :32:44.man under pressure, Shaun Murphy. Let's go back to the commentary box.

:32:45. > :32:54.Commentary macro this could be one of the most important frames Shaun

:32:55. > :32:58.Murphy plays this season. Anthony McGill has played very well in the

:32:59. > :33:10.opening four frames of this morning session. Once again, not the

:33:11. > :33:15.greatest safety shot. The pot success rate just for this session,

:33:16. > :33:28.the first four frames that have been played, Shaun is below 90%. You have

:33:29. > :33:34.got to be around 95%. As you have seen this morning, McGill is winning

:33:35. > :33:39.the safety battle. But this is the first chance in the last session of

:33:40. > :33:43.this match. He will be tempted to knock that one in. If they had not

:33:44. > :33:55.been an interval, I am sure he would have done. He is sweating after that

:33:56. > :34:02.little jog from the practice room to the commentary box. Ken, you almost

:34:03. > :34:09.made sense. I was listening to you. Surprise, surprise! Now it is time

:34:10. > :34:17.for Shaun to get going and make the most of these opportunities. I did

:34:18. > :34:29.not see him in the practice area. He just stayed in the dressing room

:34:30. > :34:35.with his coach. Obviously trying to feed some positive thoughts into his

:34:36. > :34:44.mind because he is not feeling too good after those first four frames.

:34:45. > :34:59.Took all of the pocket, that red. The interval probably came at a good

:35:00. > :35:03.time for Shaun Murphy. Better to eradicate all those bad memories

:35:04. > :35:07.from that last session and get a good break in the next frame.

:35:08. > :35:11.Sometimes we complain about interval is not being at the right time for

:35:12. > :35:16.some players. It is always at the right time for somebody. The only

:35:17. > :35:22.time when players are happy with the interval is when they have shared

:35:23. > :35:28.the session 2-2. I am sure he needed that interval to regroup. Oh dear.

:35:29. > :35:41.That is a bad sign. He has not missed one of those all

:35:42. > :37:03.season. The two read just above the black

:37:04. > :37:07.may be used to hold the white. A little bit of screw of them just to

:37:08. > :37:11.bring the white of those reds. Nothing wrong with that. You are

:37:12. > :37:16.going to have to play that cannon sometime. You don't always get a

:37:17. > :37:24.second chance from the correct angle to do so. But you can see from that

:37:25. > :37:28.picture, the red on the bottom right hand side is available. I am not

:37:29. > :37:30.sure whether the one at the bottom of the pack is available into the

:37:31. > :37:51.other corner. He is looking good, Ken, isn't he.

:37:52. > :38:02.He won't need that red that is on the baulk line. And just as

:38:03. > :38:15.you say that, well. What a chance for Shaun Murphy to redeem himself

:38:16. > :38:23.here. It disappeared. A quarter of the ball went into the pocket. That

:38:24. > :38:29.was amazing. Let's have a quick look at this red as we see it in slow

:38:30. > :38:33.motion. It seemed to go into the pocket, a quarter of the ball seemed

:38:34. > :38:42.to go into the pocket. And then it has come back out.

:38:43. > :38:51.Just a little bit straight on this black.

:38:52. > :39:21.When Shaun missed the red in the middle and was sat in his chair, he

:39:22. > :39:44.thought he could probably go 8-6 behind. What a bonus this is.

:39:45. > :39:50.I am sure, Ken, when you won the watch championship, you had to come

:39:51. > :39:56.through a sticky patch. I am sure this will be Shaun's tricky match.

:39:57. > :40:02.He is being pushed to the limit so far. This is a massive frame and he

:40:03. > :40:07.is struggling with position at the moment. There is tension in the air

:40:08. > :40:16.and when there is tension, you can overhead or underhit.

:40:17. > :40:35.This is the key shot because he is going to be very close to the

:40:36. > :40:41.cushion to get onto this red. As long as he misses the kids on the

:40:42. > :40:49.blue. The white is coming very close to the cushion to get perfect on

:40:50. > :40:57.this red. A possible red to the left centre as well. The one next to the

:40:58. > :41:25.pink. This is tough, particularly coming across the nap of the table.

:41:26. > :42:23.It is a tricky brown, tricky green, but given that lifeline, Shaun

:42:24. > :42:31.missing that second red, he may take the chance of cutting it in. Or

:42:32. > :42:35.decide on the long blue. There is a bit more pressure on this one than

:42:36. > :42:39.the brown would have been. Brilliant shot. Very good.

:42:40. > :42:58.APPLAUSE Would have thought that start?

:42:59. > :43:03.McGill getting more long pots than Murphy. Not often has that been

:43:04. > :43:56.said. This black will put him two points

:43:57. > :44:09.in the league. That red is just on the baulk line. It is the best way

:44:10. > :44:16.to move that red back out of there. You would think of going red, pink,

:44:17. > :44:23.red. He has had a glance at the school. What colour would you want

:44:24. > :44:28.to play it off? If the green was on its part, you would probably play

:44:29. > :44:37.the green. It is the black, red and then pink. Particularly the half

:44:38. > :44:46.bald black as well. But the choice of shots, which one will he play.

:44:47. > :44:52.There is your answer, leaving the black. If this goes right, it is a

:44:53. > :44:57.frame-winner. I would like to be towards the pocket yet rather than

:44:58. > :45:11.lay behind it. He has gone to have a look to see if he gets close to it.

:45:12. > :45:15.I am with you. I would just put a cue ball in there. That is what he

:45:16. > :45:20.is hoping for and it is a big target. You can try to knock it

:45:21. > :45:25.towards the pocket. It looks pretty good. It looks very, very good. What

:45:26. > :45:36.a beautiful shot. APPLAUSE

:45:37. > :45:39.Great control. Having seen the heroics he produced last year, I

:45:40. > :45:43.honestly did not think he was this good a player. He is playing

:45:44. > :46:08.fantastic this morning, he really is.

:46:09. > :46:17.22 points ahead. He needs yellow and green.

:46:18. > :46:25.Shaun Murphy could be sitting in his chair wondering how he lost this

:46:26. > :46:32.frame. He was in at the beginning of the frame but missed a red to the

:46:33. > :46:34.right centre. He had a couple of chances at the frame and he should

:46:35. > :46:51.be winning. The green for an 8-6 lead. It is

:46:52. > :47:00.there. No heroics. Making sure of it. I am not sure I would have

:47:01. > :47:08.played it that way because if he misses this brown, he knows Shaun

:47:09. > :47:09.might be tempted to carry on. But he will not be carrying on now, I don't

:47:10. > :47:16.think. Not the best positional shots I have

:47:17. > :47:26.ever seen. I don't think he will mind. His

:47:27. > :47:44.opponent needs three snookers. Foul. Anthony McGill, 50. Shaun

:47:45. > :48:09.Murphy, five. This is a good line. Just slow down

:48:10. > :48:09.a little bit. Excellent shot. APPLAUSE

:48:10. > :48:54.. He is looking at this angle. Three

:48:55. > :48:57.cushions and hit the blue on the way back out of baulk. It is a lot more

:48:58. > :49:20.difficult. Where is the cue ball? Wow. I think he is angled. He can't

:49:21. > :49:24.see it. He can't see the right side of the blue as we look. That is

:49:25. > :49:40.incredible. He would like to see the right-hand

:49:41. > :49:55.side of the blue but he can only see the left-hand side of the blue.

:49:56. > :51:16.He will just roll the blue over the green pocket here.

:51:17. > :51:20.If the blue had been three or four inches off the cushion, it would

:51:21. > :51:47.have been missable. This time, he should get very close

:51:48. > :51:49.to the pot. He can play the top spin and he'd is not worried about the

:51:50. > :52:06.cue ball going over the pocket. And it is in. If it gets there, it

:52:07. > :52:17.is in. It has got there. APPLAUSE

:52:18. > :52:25.Anthony McGill has played tremendous this morning. That is another frame

:52:26. > :52:31.for McGill. This time he goes two clear for the first time in the

:52:32. > :52:36.match at 8-6. It is hard now, Ken. It will be interesting to see how

:52:37. > :52:39.McGill handles himself. This is the first time he has sat there

:52:40. > :52:45.thinking, I can win this match. Absolutely. It will be interesting

:52:46. > :52:50.to see how the match pans out as it gets closer to the winning line. But

:52:51. > :52:54.I don't think he is going to flinch. He looks very calm and composed and

:52:55. > :52:59.I don't think he is going to be like a rabbit in the headlights to get to

:53:00. > :53:04.the winning line. We saw three parts in the middle pocket that were

:53:05. > :53:09.missed by both players. This one, you suggested, why has he not rolled

:53:10. > :53:16.it in? You are more likely to miss this if you just stunning. His game

:53:17. > :53:26.was not on, if you remember the black before that, Anthony McGill

:53:27. > :53:31.her, it is an amazing shot her because it disappeared a little bit

:53:32. > :53:39.into the pocket and came back out. But that was his lifeline, Shaun

:53:40. > :53:43.Murphy. He was struggling. This is missable. Anywhere but the cushion,

:53:44. > :53:48.he would not have been in trouble, but to get perfect, he had to be

:53:49. > :53:58.near the cushion. And he leaves it over the pocket as well. McGill now

:53:59. > :54:06.breaks off. Two more for a place in the next round. Shaun Murphy has it

:54:07. > :54:38.all to do. It is four from the next five frames.

:54:39. > :54:48.This is in, I think. This is in. Some things can change and match,

:54:49. > :54:51.change a player's belief in the match. That could be just the thing

:54:52. > :54:56.that could change it for Shaun Murphy. He missed the part by the

:54:57. > :55:04.proverbial mile and then this happens. You saw Anthony McGill

:55:05. > :55:08.creeping in behind there to see if it was going in. To be fair, a lot

:55:09. > :55:12.of the luck has gone to Anthony McGill bit smaller but he has played

:55:13. > :55:40.the better of the two. Will that change things?

:55:41. > :55:46.It is at the angled to play the cannon into the red but he has got

:55:47. > :56:10.to hit it fall ball. And he has done.

:56:11. > :56:15.He has left a nice angle on this red to disturb the pack. There was a

:56:16. > :56:21.cake there. -- kick. A terrible kick. The red

:56:22. > :57:42.just goes straight. He might need a step ladder in a

:57:43. > :58:18.minute. APPLAUSE

:58:19. > :58:29.It was worth the wait. Nicely on a baulk colour.

:58:30. > :58:42.He has a choice of two read. Into the left centre will be red just

:58:43. > :58:49.behind the black. He played it very well.

:58:50. > :58:53.A choice here, he is looking at the angle on the black but he can also

:58:54. > :59:27.get on the pink as well. GROANS FROM THE CROWD

:59:28. > :59:31.That is what I was saying. He will be getting excited, getting closer

:59:32. > :59:41.to the winning line. He can't miss shots like that.

:59:42. > :59:57.APPLAUSE That is a tremendous shock. He could

:59:58. > :00:04.not have played that much better. -- tremendous shot.

:00:05. > :00:18.Has he overrun this? Two balls in a plant, could be end of break. Not

:00:19. > :00:24.exactly a plant, maybe he could put the other one in. But again, a

:00:25. > :00:30.careless positional shot from Shaun Murphy. The plant might have come to

:00:31. > :00:35.his rescue. He had a massive pocket their, for that red. Worth taking on

:00:36. > :00:49.the Ork as a shock to nothing though. -- worth taking on the plant

:00:50. > :01:51.though as a shot to nothing. Well played.

:01:52. > :02:04.The frame might ride on the bunch of four reds that are close together.

:02:05. > :02:18.Has the angle to pot the black and maybe disturb the reds if he wishes.

:02:19. > :02:27.Did it nicely. He has a red into the centre.

:02:28. > :02:37.When you are having a struggle out there, it's always a bit betwixt and

:02:38. > :02:40.between. A half ball into the middle, that one into the heart of

:02:41. > :02:45.the pocket. Should go on to win the frame. How much will be pink that

:02:46. > :04:27.Anthony McGill missed play on his mind?

:04:28. > :04:34.This rate has certainly been welcomed by Shaun and his supporters

:04:35. > :04:44.here, just what the doctor ordered. Looked a bit shaky at the beginning

:04:45. > :04:46.of this frame. He has been thrown a lifeline from Anthony McGill, with

:04:47. > :05:01.an unexpected miss. Might prove to be a turning point in

:05:02. > :05:03.this match yet. Remains to be seen. That's one way of getting on the

:05:04. > :05:43.yellow! Still a possible century on. The missed pink might be the first

:05:44. > :05:48.sign of nerves for Anthony McGill. The pink that Anthony McGill

:05:49. > :05:53.missed... For all money, this could have been Anthony McGill at the

:05:54. > :05:57.table making this break and taking a 9-6 lead. However, the match is

:05:58. > :06:06.still in the balance. He needs the cue ball to slow up for the century.

:06:07. > :06:13.Can he double it? Get in there, somewhere! It's not there, he

:06:14. > :06:20.doesn't make the century, but he makes a welcome 88 to get his frame

:06:21. > :07:28.and match back in order. Only one behind, Anthony McGill leading 8-7.

:07:29. > :07:35.And that's what a great player Shaun Murphy is. He has been put to the

:07:36. > :07:41.metal today though. We talked about the break Shaun Murphy made and the

:07:42. > :07:44.pink McGill missed. The situation, 8-6 in front, the balls in position

:07:45. > :07:52.to score heavily, and he misses pink. He tried to stun the pink into

:07:53. > :07:59.the middle. Just before this he could have got onto the black. He

:08:00. > :08:03.wanted to get the pink out of the way. He was concentrating on the cue

:08:04. > :08:09.ball to get through the gap, and he hit wide and subsequently missed.

:08:10. > :08:13.The way he has been playing come you couldn't have seen him miss that

:08:14. > :08:17.before, because he has dominated the match this morning. For me that's

:08:18. > :08:22.the first sign this morning. First sign of a bit of pressure. You said

:08:23. > :08:26.it. I didn't think he would flinch because he has been so calm and

:08:27. > :08:32.composed, but may be the first sign of nerves from Anthony McGill. It

:08:33. > :08:37.remains to be seen. Shaun Murphy breaking off, hoping to level 8-8.

:08:38. > :08:47.Once again, not a great break-off shot. I think he can see the red.

:08:48. > :08:49.Just got enough. It's amazing, total points, could you believe that after

:08:50. > :09:59.15 frames, exactly level. Amazing. Always very difficult, as we have

:10:00. > :10:04.suggested on commentary a few times, to play a safety when the ball this

:10:05. > :10:09.title cushion, to get back to bowl. He's looking to the one left of the

:10:10. > :10:14.black. Has to be careful of the jaws of the middle pocket. Doesn't want

:10:15. > :10:19.to catch that, especially with loose reds on the right-hand side of the

:10:20. > :10:22.table. Missed the jaws easily. Has to cover the pocket with the red.

:10:23. > :11:02.And he has. At first glance it's not too bad.

:11:03. > :11:13.McGill could pot this down the right-hand side. Just having a look

:11:14. > :11:19.to see, if he plays the safety, will he not anything towards the

:11:20. > :11:28.right-hand corner pocket? May even put Shaun back in here. Not quite

:11:29. > :11:47.sure. Deciding to come off the pack. Has to be careful.

:11:48. > :11:53.Unfortunate there. Good shot, but the red that has come close to the

:11:54. > :11:58.left corner pocket has gone quite tight to the cushion, and it could

:11:59. > :12:02.easily have come off the cushion for a straightforward cut for Shaun

:12:03. > :12:30.Murphy. But probably forced into having a go at this shot.

:12:31. > :12:49.I thought he was playing just a rest on this red. Good shot.

:12:50. > :12:53.This looks like it will be a scrappy frame. The first time this morning

:12:54. > :13:13.we had one of those. Whoa this is where we leave you on

:13:14. > :13:19.BBC Two. Coverage of this match continues on the red button. On the

:13:20. > :13:23.BBC sport website and app. Meanwhile, Ricky Walden and Robbie

:13:24. > :13:29.Williams is also on the app. Hazel Irvine will be back at 1pm on BBC

:13:30. > :13:32.Two with live coverage from 2:30pm of Ronnie O'Sullivan against David

:13:33. > :13:35.Gilbert. Thank you for watching, goodbye for now.
