:00:36. > :00:43.Aloe and good morning. Welcome to the Crucible. We are edging ever

:00:44. > :00:46.closer to the 2016 world Snooker Championships semifinals. China's

:00:47. > :00:50.Ding Junhui is already through, the first man into the last four by

:00:51. > :00:56.knocking out Mark Williams with a session to spare yesterday evening.

:00:57. > :00:59.Today, we will see if the young English qualifier can continue his

:01:00. > :01:17.very tail run here at this fairy tale venue. I am good friends with

:01:18. > :01:20.Peter Ebdon. It was an unbelievable experience to watch with ticket he

:01:21. > :01:26.gave me and as soon as I was there, I knew I had to go there to play. It

:01:27. > :01:31.is a surreal experience. As soon as you sit down, you are daunted by how

:01:32. > :01:36.close everyone is to use but it is a fantastic venue. I went up a couple

:01:37. > :01:39.of days before, went into the venue, had a look around, got my bearings.

:01:40. > :01:44.That is something I like to do before I play, trying to acclimatise

:01:45. > :01:48.to everywhere. There is so much history and so many memories there,

:01:49. > :01:52.you want to make those memories for yourself and go down in history

:01:53. > :01:56.yourself. There is no atmosphere like it. You look into the back and

:01:57. > :02:02.it seems like it goes off for miles when really it is quite small and

:02:03. > :02:07.compact. Sometimes, you are even close to falling over the barrier

:02:08. > :02:12.when you play a shot. It is so unique and special. There is a buzz

:02:13. > :02:16.around Sheffield when it is on, especially if you have got nice

:02:17. > :02:21.weather and everyone is out the back of the Crucible, with the big screen

:02:22. > :02:26.TV up. There is a real buzz. Driving in, you have the signs for the

:02:27. > :02:31.Snooker. It is really special. It is the pinnacle of our sport, really.

:02:32. > :02:36.Everybody choosing to watch the Crucible. It is certainly somewhere

:02:37. > :02:43.I would like to meet -- like to lift the trophy. I won't stop until I get

:02:44. > :02:46.there. Whatever happens today, we will certainly remember his run to

:02:47. > :02:52.the quarterfinals. He has knocked out Joe Perry and Mark allen. Such a

:02:53. > :03:00.lovely lad as well. He won the Shanghai Masters last season. He

:03:01. > :03:05.trails Mark Selby, who needs only three more frames to set up a

:03:06. > :03:09.semifinal for himself. Kyren Wilson's family are in the Crucible

:03:10. > :03:20.this morning. They are in the centre of the screen there. You can see his

:03:21. > :03:24.brother, his dad, his mum, Sonia, and his sister. I think they have

:03:25. > :03:28.just spotted that they are on the television. I am sure they are very

:03:29. > :03:36.proud of what he has achieved to date. The players are standing by.

:03:37. > :03:40.Let's join our MC, Rob Walker. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Dean

:03:41. > :03:47.has done it with a session to spare and today, three more players will

:03:48. > :03:52.join him. Welcome to a very important day 12 here at the

:03:53. > :04:09.Crucible. -- Ding Junhui has done it.

:04:10. > :04:19.Please welcome first of all, a man who is flourishing into his 40s, 25

:04:20. > :04:24.years after his debut, this is his second quarterfinal in two years. He

:04:25. > :04:27.will draw on all of those years of experience here this morning, he is

:04:28. > :04:51.Alan, the Angles, McManus. And his opponent, one of the finest

:04:52. > :04:56.sportsmen his country has ever produced, here bidding for an eighth

:04:57. > :05:00.Crucible semifinal. Winner of 28 big ones in all, four times a champion

:05:01. > :05:15.of the world, the Wizard of Wishaw, John Higgins.

:05:16. > :05:44.And on table two, a young man who has climbed up into the top 16 for

:05:45. > :05:50.the first time. Can he make it through today? He will have a go,

:05:51. > :05:59.because he is the warrior, Kyren Wilson.

:06:00. > :06:08.And his opponent, bidding for a fourth Crucible semifinal, one of

:06:09. > :06:14.the sport's ultimate opponents. He never loses his cool under pressure.

:06:15. > :06:38.He is the world number one, the Jester from Leicester, Mark Selby.

:06:39. > :06:53.Rob is actually -- absolutely right. He beat so many people on his way to

:06:54. > :07:02.the finals last year but this is a really tall order. He has two

:07:03. > :07:06.somehow come back from 10-6 to knock out Mark Selby. That is your life

:07:07. > :07:13.much here to date. Your other matches available now on the red

:07:14. > :07:18.button. Lots of information on the website and the, too. Let's say good

:07:19. > :07:25.morning to our commentary team, Dennis Taylor and Ken Doherty.

:07:26. > :07:33.Good morning, Jason, and good morning everyone watching. Kyren

:07:34. > :07:50.Wilson up against the world number one.

:07:51. > :07:57.Mark Selby, I don't think anyone else would have come out of the last

:07:58. > :08:02.session for frames all against Kyren Wilson because Mark didn't play well

:08:03. > :08:10.at all and he could quite easily have won that session 6-2, Ken? Yes,

:08:11. > :08:16.he has got it all to do this morning. We have seen on many

:08:17. > :08:22.occasions that obviously his target is to win three of the first four

:08:23. > :08:27.frames at least. If he can do that, he is well back in the match. It has

:08:28. > :08:34.happened many times before, Dennis, as you know. Players have come back

:08:35. > :08:53.from a 10-6 deficit but he has got to come to it with a good start.

:08:54. > :09:18.A good start, a good long putt. Always nice when you knock a long

:09:19. > :09:27.one in. No problem. This is an early chance because there are five or six

:09:28. > :09:32.rates nicely placed here. What ever confidence Mark Selby lost in the

:09:33. > :09:36.second session, which he seemed devoid of. It was as if his

:09:37. > :09:45.confidence was bereft in the second session, those two pots are a good

:09:46. > :09:51.sign. Sometimes when you start off slowly in a session, it can

:09:52. > :09:56.snowball. There is a snowball effect. But those first two pots

:09:57. > :10:18.right in the heart of the pocket will make him feel very, very good.

:10:19. > :10:28.Ken, you mentioned comebacks in matches and I remember very early in

:10:29. > :10:33.the morning, I woke up at 3am this morning, put snooker extra on and

:10:34. > :10:48.you were playing Paul Hunter in 2003 and you were 15-9 behind. 2003,

:10:49. > :10:51.while. We've had a lot of great comebacks in this wonderful theatre

:10:52. > :11:00.of hours and none greater than your own, 8-0 down to Steve Davis in 2005

:11:01. > :11:07.-- in 1995. There is a history to them, there is no doubt about that.

:11:08. > :11:10.It certainly can happen. And the players know that because they have

:11:11. > :11:15.seen it on the television over the years, they have witnessed it

:11:16. > :11:21.themselves, they have witnessed it in person and they know about it.

:11:22. > :11:32.Sometimes that can inspire them out there. It certainly did when I

:11:33. > :11:37.played Paul Hunter. Certainly when I was playing Paul Hunter in those

:11:38. > :11:43.days, I grew on -- I drew on your great victory over Steve Davis and

:11:44. > :11:51.all the other comebacks over the years here.

:11:52. > :11:59.Of course, the arena will change completely for the semifinal stages,

:12:00. > :12:02.with the table right in the middle. The dividing wall disappears and

:12:03. > :12:10.then the Crucible comes into its own. That hasn't quite worked out.

:12:11. > :12:17.He was going along very nicely and then all of a sudden the only

:12:18. > :12:23.possible pothead is a cannon, which didn't work out. -- the only

:12:24. > :12:32.possible pot here. He might try to double this red, but if it is not

:12:33. > :12:35.the correct angle, it will be a telling safety. He knows how

:12:36. > :12:46.important this first frame is. He will set his all out, wanting to get

:12:47. > :12:51.off to a quick start. It doesn't look a natural to take the double on

:12:52. > :12:58.and keep it safe at the same time, so just the pin safety. -- the Finn

:12:59. > :13:55.safety. Ad is the type of shot he has been

:13:56. > :13:59.knocking in but are detected yesterday that he has been looking a

:14:00. > :14:07.bit tired. It takes it out of you mentally, doesn't it? Absolutely. It

:14:08. > :14:11.is the adrenaline that keeps you going in this championship. I

:14:12. > :14:14.suppose you'd have to say he was a little bit unlucky. It was the only

:14:15. > :14:23.red he could leave other, that is why he took a calculated risk having

:14:24. > :14:29.a go at it. Unfortunately for Kyren Wilson, it has left a mark with a

:14:30. > :14:40.good chance to build on that lead. He played a nice delicates done into

:14:41. > :14:44.the red spare. -- into the reds there. He has got a terrible kick

:14:45. > :15:00.there. Just watch this cake. Any more of a

:15:01. > :15:06.kick and that might have dropped. It has left this a little bit awkward.

:15:07. > :15:25.He can't run three to the red to the right of the bunch.

:15:26. > :15:31.He just avoided that red but he had to play it gently and he has made a

:15:32. > :15:48.good job of the position from that shop there. He wants to get to his

:15:49. > :15:55.target 68 score to avoid a Snickers stage. He could be a little bit

:15:56. > :15:57.short with the blue there. He had played that very well. Couldn't have

:15:58. > :16:15.played it much better. He's got such a strong game, even

:16:16. > :16:20.when he's not at his best, hasn't he? In his last match, I think he

:16:21. > :16:28.was 11-7 up, his opponent came back to 11 to 11 and he still came back.

:16:29. > :16:33.Even when he's not playing at his best, his B game is still so good.

:16:34. > :16:37.Mark Selby is a player who has a B game and a C game and it is still

:16:38. > :16:49.amazing. He really is the all-round player.

:16:50. > :16:56.He is 64 ahead so he has the choice of going into the reds. The blue

:16:57. > :17:01.would mean snooker is where required. That is why he is just

:17:02. > :17:06.going to pick off the loose thread to make sure of the frame. -- the

:17:07. > :17:20.loose red to make sure of the frame. One of those occasions, we always

:17:21. > :17:24.talk of going into the pack of reds, but you just want to press home your

:17:25. > :17:29.advantage. You don't want to go into the pack and not be on anything. You

:17:30. > :17:31.just want to make sure of the frame, don't you? Get our next red on the

:17:32. > :17:51.board. He looks much more alert here this

:17:52. > :17:55.morning, the world number one. I think, all of a sudden, with the

:17:56. > :17:59.favourite, Ronnie O'Sullivan, going out, it has thrown this year's what

:18:00. > :18:04.championship wide open. It puts quite a bit of pressure on the

:18:05. > :18:08.players but if anybody can cope with it, you'd have to say it would be

:18:09. > :18:48.Mark Selby. He is a totally different player this session.

:18:49. > :18:54.He will want to try to put all the balls here, so he has a tricky red

:18:55. > :19:15.along the question to try to negotiate. -- along the

:19:16. > :19:25.if he misses the brown, he will clear up.

:19:26. > :20:01.Can't quite get to the century break.

:20:02. > :20:04.And exhibition positional shot from the world number one and he has

:20:05. > :20:20.played it perfectly. Coming round, I thought he was going

:20:21. > :20:32.to leave the black but as you say, he wants to put them all. A trick

:20:33. > :20:37.shot. It is coming back towards the pocket, and with that magnificent

:20:38. > :20:47.break there, Mark Selby has got the start that he wanted and he extends

:20:48. > :20:51.his lead, leading 11-6. Kyren couldn't do much about that. He had

:20:52. > :21:04.one half chance. He is a dynamic long putt -- pot player, and it was

:21:05. > :21:10.a long shot because he will not leave much for him. I think that is

:21:11. > :21:19.why he took it on. He has been knocking the sun. He was hoping to

:21:20. > :21:23.be on the black if the red goes in, of course, but look at where the red

:21:24. > :21:28.landed. It landed over the bottom left-hand corner pocket and

:21:29. > :21:31.subsequently Mark Selby went on to make that wonderful 92 break. A good

:21:32. > :21:39.start from Mark Selby. Looks a little bit better and he did in the

:21:40. > :21:43.second session yesterday. It just increases a little bit more pressure

:21:44. > :21:52.on Cairo and Wilson now. -- on Kyren Wilson now. Look at the Mark Selby's

:21:53. > :21:57.face. He wants to get this over with as quickly as possible and get ready

:21:58. > :22:00.for the semifinal. There is no substitute for experience here at

:22:01. > :22:03.the Crucible but there is still a long way to go. You always feel when

:22:04. > :22:20.your opponents needs to frames, you are in with a shot.

:22:21. > :22:33.So, Mark Selby breaks off in frame 18. Is the brown going to come to

:22:34. > :22:40.his rescue? It might have. He has got a very similar pot to what he

:22:41. > :22:44.had in the last frame. Certainly a little bit of pressure on this,

:22:45. > :22:51.Dennis, particularly with the red in the baulk area. He tends to punch

:22:52. > :23:05.these in which means he has to be even more accurate. He could do with

:23:06. > :23:10.this one. No, just jumping and straightaway, unless the yellow

:23:11. > :23:13.comes to the rescue, he has left one for the corner pocket. The ball

:23:14. > :23:27.start to bounce around when you strike down on them. That is why you

:23:28. > :23:32.have got to be so precise. Certainly looking at the red to the left of

:23:33. > :23:41.the pink passed the yellow, it is very, very tight. Two up from the

:23:42. > :23:47.black as well, they are a lot more difficult than they. Plenty of room.

:23:48. > :24:16.A good pot. I know there will be a lot of

:24:17. > :24:19.patience up at the Northern General Hospital watching the snooker this

:24:20. > :24:23.morning on the TV set above the beds. That's what I was doing last

:24:24. > :24:28.Friday and Saturday and I want to take this opportunity to say thank

:24:29. > :24:32.you to Mr Chapple and the doctors and nurses up there that looked

:24:33. > :24:34.after me. He did a magnificent job to have me back a commentating so

:24:35. > :24:50.I'd like to thank them all for that. I had to rush into the Northern

:24:51. > :24:56.General and have a badly infected appendix out but, yes, sort of back

:24:57. > :25:01.to normal. It will take a while but great to be back here at the

:25:02. > :25:21.Crucible. It's good to have you back, Dennis.

:25:22. > :25:30.Now another blue into the right centre. Interesting to see him go in

:25:31. > :25:37.and out of baulk with the cue ball. Will he leave the red? This is a

:25:38. > :25:46.distance sort of pot. So good at putting top on the cue ball and

:25:47. > :25:51.getting around the back of the green, brown and yellow ball

:25:52. > :26:01.normally. That is such a tremendous shot. That red at the back will

:26:02. > :26:03.pocket -- will pot into this pocket. He makes it look easy but the

:26:04. > :26:22.control is excellent. He would love to get rid of that

:26:23. > :26:34.weight to be left of the black. He was just eyeing it up there.

:26:35. > :26:40.The pack is not a great pack to go into from the blue because of the

:26:41. > :26:54.position of the pink. It is away from the pack.

:26:55. > :27:00.That's why he is reluctant to go into the pack from the blue. Not

:27:01. > :27:17.guaranteed there would be one red. He has worked this out nicely,

:27:18. > :27:18.hasn't he, Dennis? When he put this red, he will split the pack. He will

:27:19. > :27:38.hope to be on pink or blue. A bit of check side on this so can

:27:39. > :27:45.he get through to the black? The cue power he generates is fantastic.

:27:46. > :27:53.This is quite tight. I think he can just see enough of the black. The

:27:54. > :27:55.red closest to the black is a bit of a distraction but he doesn't look

:27:56. > :28:02.like missing this morning. Everything is going right. It is all

:28:03. > :28:11.going in the centre of the pocket and that is always an indication of

:28:12. > :28:22.how you are cueing. That was a good putt -- pot. We didn't expect him to

:28:23. > :28:28.take it on because we had a red finish next to the blue and it was a

:28:29. > :29:25.great finish. A great pot. Still got a bit of work to do here.

:29:26. > :29:36.There is an interested spectator, a young Damian Taylor, son of my

:29:37. > :29:43.co-commentator here and a young coach. Coach to many people on the

:29:44. > :29:47.two here. He was the first face I saw when I recovered from my

:29:48. > :29:53.operation. He came over. He has worked with many great players.

:29:54. > :30:00.Steve Webster from the Midlands and Daniel Brooks. Four or five of them.

:30:01. > :30:12.So that is where you get your golf handicap from? He doesn't help his

:30:13. > :30:20.dad both. That was a bonus but he had already left the plant. For five

:30:21. > :30:23.minutes ago he had a glance there so it shows you sometimes how far they

:30:24. > :30:28.are thinking ahead but he is cueing beautifully this morning. Kyren

:30:29. > :31:16.can't do anything about this. Should there you see it, 56 ahead.

:31:17. > :31:19.Another couple of reds and colours and he will be one frame away from a

:31:20. > :31:39.place in the semifinals. He was runner-up in 2007 two John

:31:40. > :31:52.Higgins anti-win-macro it in 2014. -- and he won it in 2014.

:31:53. > :32:03.Yesterday he looked vulnerable in the second session. He managed to

:32:04. > :32:12.get out of the session 4-4, but how he did it, I don't know. A true test

:32:13. > :32:18.of a great champion. But today has been a different day completely.

:32:19. > :32:23.Yes, he is looking like a favourite for this year's World Championship.

:32:24. > :32:35.But all remaining players are in with a great chance.

:32:36. > :32:42.He will not be bothered about the red. They wonderful break of 78 from

:32:43. > :32:49.the world number one, Mark Selby. And he is one more frame away from a

:32:50. > :32:58.place in the semifinal, leading Kyren Wilson 12-6. Yes, it just has

:32:59. > :33:02.not been the start Kyren wanted but he can do nothing about the way Mark

:33:03. > :33:11.Selby is playing. Mark Selby looked very focused from the first shot.

:33:12. > :33:15.Kyren had half chances. He loves to punch these in, but if you are not

:33:16. > :33:20.accurate, it is amazing, they are so difficult. These are things years

:33:21. > :33:25.ago you did not realise was happening because you didn't have

:33:26. > :33:28.the magnificent slow motion shot. What is happening with the ball

:33:29. > :33:34.before it gets to the object ball. When you strike down, look at this.

:33:35. > :33:42.Look how many times the ball bounces before it hits the object ball. And

:33:43. > :33:48.this was not particularly hard. This is why you have to be so accurate.

:33:49. > :33:53.Even this shot, to see the ball bouncing around. Look at it hitting

:33:54. > :33:58.the rubber underneath the cloth. I think the reason the ball bounces so

:33:59. > :34:03.much these days, the cloth is so thin, very quick. It did not bounce

:34:04. > :34:07.around as much, if did announce a bit but not so much on the thicker

:34:08. > :34:19.cloth as we used to play on -- it did bounce a bit.

:34:20. > :34:29.Back against the wall for Kyren Wilson. He needs all seven remaining

:34:30. > :34:30.frames if he is going to play in the semifinals of this year's World

:34:31. > :34:45.Championships. Might just be able to see a enough

:34:46. > :34:55.of this red. He has walked around to see where he could put the cue ball

:34:56. > :35:00.and what he would leave if he missed the red. He is cueing so

:35:01. > :35:06.beautifully. How close will he get? Oh, that kicked. A heavy contact and

:35:07. > :35:29.the first chance for Kyren here. That is an easy starter but it is

:35:30. > :35:39.not an Se Ri pack to go into. -- it is not an easy pack. If he cannons

:35:40. > :35:44.the two reds, misses the loose one and caverns the other two. He has a

:35:45. > :35:57.terrific cue action and will have to call on it.

:35:58. > :36:03.He will have to go into the reds again, as we show you the stun shot

:36:04. > :36:08.into the bunch. He wanted to screw back for the lack

:36:09. > :36:44.macro. Now it is a tough pink. Wouldn't it be nice if he could not

:36:45. > :36:49.in a sizeable break here? I showed you the family earlier, his fiancee

:36:50. > :37:06.in the champions' lounge in the lucky seat. A delightful lady. And

:37:07. > :37:12.indeed, Kyren is a delightful lad. For me, Ken, I have not seen a great

:37:13. > :37:28.deal of Kyren. I think this is a future World champion. He has all

:37:29. > :37:38.the attributes. And most importantly he has the temperament, he has the

:37:39. > :37:40.bottle. He has shown that already. He will have a big future in the

:37:41. > :38:26.game. All covering each other, by the

:38:27. > :38:30.looks of things. What angle has he got? He might have to power this

:38:31. > :38:36.around two cushions and into the back of the bunch. But look where

:38:37. > :38:41.the cue ball is going. Can you believe it? When things are not

:38:42. > :38:46.going well that sort of thing happens. When everything is going

:38:47. > :38:53.for you, you play that shot, you open them up, you go on to win the

:38:54. > :38:59.frame will stop not only has the white Conning, he has left a red.

:39:00. > :39:15.Very unlucky. I hope it is not his last shot. What

:39:16. > :39:25.a way to go out of the World Championship with an unlucky in-off.

:39:26. > :39:40.What a good opportunity here for Mark Selby. He got into that too

:39:41. > :39:57.much. He will have to use the rest. Adrenaline in his back on. -- arm.

:39:58. > :40:15.Mark Selby will definitely want to win this, he does not want to stay

:40:16. > :40:20.out there any longer he has two. He wants to try to win this and put

:40:21. > :40:21.every effort and concentration into winning the and match from this

:40:22. > :40:43.position. A similar shot to last time. He will

:40:44. > :40:47.have to play a delicate shot. Try to hold for the pink in the centre or

:40:48. > :41:07.the black into the corner. He could just about managed to miss

:41:08. > :41:13.the reds. Played with a lot of check side off the side cushion. That was

:41:14. > :41:34.an excellent shot. Isn't it amazing? All of a sudden,

:41:35. > :41:38.Mark would have been thinking, this is a chance to get myself into the

:41:39. > :42:55.semifinal, and all of those sudden, he misses a sitter of a black.

:42:56. > :43:11.You can see the ball bouncing around again but it was a nice flick on the

:43:12. > :43:17.black. Just the one awkward red. That will not come into play because

:43:18. > :43:18.the frame will be over. I thought this would be a close fought

:43:19. > :43:36.contest. Who is to know what can happen? A

:43:37. > :43:37.long way back but you can only play one frame at a time and see what

:43:38. > :44:00.happens. You can drop in behind this red and

:44:01. > :44:11.leave the white close to the cushion and have a choice of pockets.

:44:12. > :44:21.I don't think he was too concerned. He has a frame back. It is an awful

:44:22. > :44:24.long way back into this match, but, at least he is on the bottom rung of

:44:25. > :44:44.the ladder. You he -- keep having to pot away.

:44:45. > :44:50.When he went in-off. He could not have played this better. He played

:44:51. > :44:56.it well but to hit those balls and go in-off, it looks like it might be

:44:57. > :45:01.his last shot in this championship, but suddenly, Mark Selby, from

:45:02. > :45:07.nowhere, he has not looked like this this morning, maybe he had one eye

:45:08. > :45:17.on the winning line. And also one eye on trying to make a perfect

:45:18. > :45:22.cannon. Just took his eye off the object ball. It cost him. The last

:45:23. > :45:30.frame before the mid-session interval. He does not want to be out

:45:31. > :45:34.there any longer than he should be. He wants to get the match over as

:45:35. > :45:47.quickly as possible. He does not want to go through on due -- undue

:45:48. > :46:15.stress and pressure. He has left another red for Kyren

:46:16. > :46:17.Wilson. He does not act to force it this time, there is a path around

:46:18. > :46:31.the back of the red and the black. Having said that, I am not quite

:46:32. > :47:03.sure why he had to hit it that hard. It has turned out to be quite a good

:47:04. > :47:06.safety shot. Mark is looking to see if he can get the white over the tip

:47:07. > :47:27.of where the cue is. It looked like a misjudgement from

:47:28. > :47:35.SatNav Selby. He knows his way around the table so well, but a

:47:36. > :47:40.misjudgement. He has left another possible long pot into the bottom

:47:41. > :47:48.corner pocket. He is eyeing up the left-hand corner

:47:49. > :48:12.pocket. Good shot. An excellent pot.

:48:13. > :48:18.Beautifully controlled. You will not see a better position shot. The pot

:48:19. > :48:26.was difficult. The position is superb.

:48:27. > :48:34.A decent chance, now. He has brought quite a few more reds interplay. We

:48:35. > :48:37.might just have a mid-session interval. He could not have played

:48:38. > :50:13.that much better. I know it is early days, but with

:50:14. > :50:17.four reds and four blacks, it would have crossed his mind. Particularly

:50:18. > :50:22.with his back against the wall. Nothing to lose. He will try to stay

:50:23. > :50:29.on the black as long as possible here. Obviously, the frame is more

:50:30. > :50:33.important, but it is not a bad chance, really. He has been

:50:34. > :50:35.professional since 2010 and his highest tournament break was 137,

:50:36. > :50:54.made in 2011. Sometimes when your back is against

:50:55. > :51:02.the wall, you throw a little bit of caution to the wind. He will try to

:51:03. > :51:08.stay on the black as long as possible. He has four, five reds out

:51:09. > :51:20.in the open. There is no reason why he should not try to go for it.

:51:21. > :51:37.He wants to put the cue ball between the two reds so that he will have a

:51:38. > :51:43.shot on the black. This is the type of shot where he could try to get on

:51:44. > :51:57.the pink to the left centre, but if his is -- intention is to stay on

:51:58. > :52:02.the black. His main concern, and quite rightly so, is taking the

:52:03. > :52:08.frame. He sacrificed trying to get on the black. He had thought about

:52:09. > :52:13.it but had second thoughts and thought if I can get on the pink, I

:52:14. > :53:04.can give myself a chance to take the frame.

:53:05. > :53:16.Not that far away. 71 to secure the frame. This is exactly the way he

:53:17. > :53:25.has played throughout the championship, cueing beautifully

:53:26. > :53:33.again. But maybe as you said the tension, and we were saying his

:53:34. > :53:38.natural game now. For me, he seems to be the sort of player who can

:53:39. > :53:40.take his practice game to the big arena. I have been so impressed by

:53:41. > :54:37.this young player. A quick glance of the scoreboard.

:54:38. > :54:44.Just to make sure he has passed the winning line in this frame. Just

:54:45. > :55:02.double-checking he is 76 ahead. Hundred and 41 is the highest break

:55:03. > :55:06.at this year's championship. He is thinking pretty positive. Barry

:55:07. > :55:13.Hawkins has made 141. It is nice to see him smiling. He is doing that

:55:14. > :55:18.simply because the frame is over and he is trying to reckon up how many

:55:19. > :55:28.he can score. He would have to get onto the black, you would feel.

:55:29. > :55:35.Mark Selby is called the Jester from Leicester but he was not smiling

:55:36. > :55:42.now. It was Kyren who was doing all the smiling. He will have to wait

:55:43. > :55:59.until after the mid-session interval to clinch a place in the semifinal.

:56:00. > :56:11.That has got the black back on it spot. A couple of reds to the side

:56:12. > :56:47.of the table, neither of them easy. That will do nicely. A possible 143,

:56:48. > :56:49.if he takes all blacks with the remaining reds. That is not going to

:56:50. > :57:09.be easy. ?10,000 for beehive break this year.

:57:10. > :57:34.-- the high break. That is a magnificent century break.

:57:35. > :57:40.His 27th this season. I wonder could he beat his highest break, we

:57:41. > :57:49.mentioned earlier it is 137. If you can drop on this last red, he can

:57:50. > :57:51.stun off the cushion behind the black and drop 12 inches behind the

:57:52. > :57:59.red. He has gone further away than he

:58:00. > :58:49.would have liked. We have had 62 centuries so far this

:58:50. > :58:56.year. The record is 86. That record could go. Kyren has had four. Can he

:58:57. > :59:11.beat his own highest break? Command, Kyren, knock this green in.

:59:12. > :59:13.Reach a little milestone. It would be nice to make your highest break

:59:14. > :59:21.ever at the Crucible. 143 will take a little bit of

:59:22. > :00:16.beating. A little thinner than he would have

:00:17. > :00:24.liked. A little smile there. Don't miss the black now, Kyren.

:00:25. > :00:38.Absolutely superb. He once the crowd to give him a big round of applause

:00:39. > :00:45.and they respond. He has kept himself in this years but Fred work

:00:46. > :00:51.championship with a tournament top break of 143. It is not over just

:00:52. > :00:56.yet. Excellent stuff from Kyren Wilson, a

:00:57. > :01:01.break of 143 which goes past the high break of 141. No doubt be

:01:02. > :01:08.couple of thousand pounds that Kyren Wilson may win if he makes the high

:01:09. > :01:12.break of the tournament will go towards his wedding, as he is

:01:13. > :01:16.getting married in six weeks' time, so the family could find a way of

:01:17. > :01:22.spending that. It looked like Mark Selby wanted to get this over and

:01:23. > :01:26.done with. Absolutely. Mark Selby will be disappointed that he did not

:01:27. > :01:32.feel it in the frame before that. It is a long way back. He needs every

:01:33. > :01:37.frame, Kyren Wilson. Five to go and he needs every one of them but you

:01:38. > :01:41.never know. As long as you are still out there, you have got to make your

:01:42. > :01:47.opponent get over that line. Keep putting them under pressure. That

:01:48. > :01:50.143, magnificent break as it was, will give him by the doors of

:01:51. > :01:55.confidence. He will be itching to get back out there. We will come

:01:56. > :02:01.back out to Kyren in just a moment... Oh, we don't have the

:02:02. > :02:04.graphics. Sorry. Let's get back to Kyren Wilson. Ronnie O'Sullivan says

:02:05. > :02:09.he could be one of the best players in the world. When you see him make

:02:10. > :02:13.that break, do you agree with him? I am very impressed with his

:02:14. > :02:17.break-building and his long potting. I am most impressed by his

:02:18. > :02:25.temperament, his bottle. Making breaks under pressure. He is not

:02:26. > :02:31.giving in. A lot of players at 12-6 down the Brady towel in, say its not

:02:32. > :02:35.my day, but he stuck at it. That takes a lot of bottle and courage

:02:36. > :02:40.and they are good qualities to have. More important than anything else.

:02:41. > :02:44.When you see Mark Selby, he looks a much better player now than in the

:02:45. > :02:49.first two rounds, doesn't he? In fairness to Mark Selby, he said when

:02:50. > :02:54.he beat his opponent on Saturday night, he struggled to get over the

:02:55. > :02:57.line. He is meticulous in his planning, isn't he? When you see him

:02:58. > :03:05.playing as he has done in this match, you have to take back him all

:03:06. > :03:09.the way, don't you? He played way below his best yesterday and I do

:03:10. > :03:16.know how he got two for- four. That is the thing about champions. When

:03:17. > :03:22.they are playing badly, they can eat in and rely on their excellent

:03:23. > :03:28.safety game, he has excellent safety game and much play snooker. This

:03:29. > :03:31.tournament is open seven days and you will have some bad sessions but

:03:32. > :03:35.if you can minimise the damage in those bad questions. That is exactly

:03:36. > :03:40.what he did yesterday. He played eight frames, played terribly, but

:03:41. > :03:52.still came out for- four. He is still playing not quite at his best

:03:53. > :03:56.but much better than he was. Let's turn our attention to John Higgins

:03:57. > :03:59.who is playing Alan McManus. Let's show you what happened in the first

:04:00. > :04:06.frame of today's session. Higgins to play.

:04:07. > :04:20.Well, that will do. Nothing like a good start. Yes, he cued that

:04:21. > :04:29.lovely. Very positive cueing, that was. The type of shot that if you

:04:30. > :04:39.decelerate as you are going through, you get a good solid pot full

:04:40. > :04:51.through -- pull through. He can get on the black for the right corner

:04:52. > :04:53.pocket. Certainly not at the moment, as he will have to go up the table

:04:54. > :05:16.for a baulk colour. If he is going to have to keep going

:05:17. > :05:22.back up and fourth for the baulk colours, he will get tired after a

:05:23. > :05:29.while. He will have to hit the ball quite hard each time to move the cue

:05:30. > :05:34.ball. Now then, has he got a possible red that can take him into

:05:35. > :05:47.the gap with the two reds on the left. I don't think so. A view reds

:05:48. > :05:54.there but he would like the type of shot that could bring beeping into

:05:55. > :06:04.play as well. -- that could bring the pink into play as well. In these

:06:05. > :06:08.types of situations, you would be happy to get the blue on the spot

:06:09. > :06:17.but that is not an option at the moment, where the blue is. We always

:06:18. > :06:25.go on about the maximum break. At the moment, he is heading for the

:06:26. > :06:34.minimum break. Red, yellow, red, yellow. He has overdone this. He is

:06:35. > :06:39.nothing. A possible red. Possibly to be left corner. He may just have

:06:40. > :06:45.found a gap to that, but that is the problem when the cue ball is having

:06:46. > :06:55.to travel distances. It's not always possible to judge the pace. He is

:06:56. > :06:59.just about on this red. I'm not certain where the colour comes from

:07:00. > :07:08.our nephew plays a controlled cannon onto the black. He is worried about

:07:09. > :07:14.the blue. He played the cannon on the black. Where is the black ball

:07:15. > :07:24.going? That is unlucky. No way he could have envisaged knocking the

:07:25. > :07:32.black into the pocket. It would have been perfect had it stayed in the

:07:33. > :07:37.jewels -- the jaws but it just dropped in. Disappointment for John.

:07:38. > :07:54.An unexpected chance now for Alan McManus. Quite a contrast in the cue

:07:55. > :07:58.actions of these two players. Alan McManus on the table now has got

:07:59. > :08:08.quite a long backswing -- back spin on all the shots he place. He moves

:08:09. > :08:15.a little bit on the shot, lifts his head as he delivers the cue. John

:08:16. > :08:26.Hopkins -- John Higgins is a lot more solid. He hits with a bit more

:08:27. > :08:32.power than Alan McManus. You can see his head coming up now. As long as

:08:33. > :09:44.he puts the Q3 straight, he will be OK. -- VQ through straight.

:09:45. > :09:59.Now then, it is a little bit tricky around this cushion.

:10:00. > :10:07.He played to this very confidently. You have got to be accurate with

:10:08. > :10:11.those. You can't take them for granted. In an ideal world, he'd

:10:12. > :10:18.have liked to have been straight on this black. It shouldn't cause him a

:10:19. > :10:23.problem here. He is going to play a little stunned, a little cannon. He

:10:24. > :10:29.played it well. I didn't see the first session of this match but, as

:10:30. > :10:37.I say, everybody said that Alan started off like a house on fire.

:10:38. > :10:42.And then John Higgins came back. You know John Higgins is a tough

:10:43. > :10:52.competitor. You get nothing easy from him. But this was an unexpected

:10:53. > :10:56.chance from Alan and I have to say, Terry, at first look this morning,

:10:57. > :11:03.he looks in good touch. Hitting the ball nicely. Yes, I mentioned to you

:11:04. > :11:08.care that he had trouble with his neck yesterday when he was playing

:11:09. > :11:12.and he looked very uncomfortable. He was all right for the first three or

:11:13. > :11:18.four frames but after that he struggled, even going down on the

:11:19. > :11:24.table when the balls were set up, trying to loosen himself up. He

:11:25. > :11:29.looks better this morning. He said he slept badly the night before.

:11:30. > :11:38.There's money done that -- many done that. Absolutely. You are in a

:11:39. > :11:40.strange bed and sometimes you are that tired that you just fall asleep

:11:41. > :11:58.in a funny position. That was just about OK. No doubt he

:11:59. > :12:03.played on this thread but if he'd run past the red is closest to, that

:12:04. > :12:21.would have been a bit more difficult.

:12:22. > :12:33.Still in nice control. And this black will put him 50 points in

:12:34. > :12:35.front with 59 remaining. So this black, one more red and a colour and

:12:36. > :12:50.it should be framed over. And he could not have played that

:12:51. > :12:55.any better. Just checking the scoreboard. A red and the black will

:12:56. > :13:22.put him 58 points in front with just 51 remaining.

:13:23. > :13:33.So, well played Alan McManus, very well played. OK, John Higgins a

:13:34. > :13:40.little unlucky when he parted the red. He overran his position on his

:13:41. > :13:47.attended -- intended red. Their play to Alan, he has taken this well. At

:13:48. > :13:54.red going in means there will be no return to the table for John

:13:55. > :14:05.Higgins. 59 point the lead, just 43 remaining now. Another excellent

:14:06. > :14:10.shot, just a bit unfortunate it didn't catch the red he was planning

:14:11. > :14:20.to cannon into, the one just below the pink. Needs a good pink -- pot

:14:21. > :14:23.to make any chance of his second century of the match. That was a

:14:24. > :14:27.very impressive start this morning from Alan McManus. OK, you have got

:14:28. > :14:32.to stay John Higgins was unlucky when he knocked the black in but

:14:33. > :14:38.you've got to take advantage and Alan McManus did that. An excellent

:14:39. > :14:45.break of 68. He is now within one. 5-4, John Higgins.

:14:46. > :14:50.And you can continue watching the battle of the Scottish veterans on

:14:51. > :14:58.the red button. We will turn our attention back to Kyren Wilson. What

:14:59. > :15:02.will Kyren be thinking now? He will be itching to get back out. The

:15:03. > :15:11.interval probably came at the wrong time for him. If you are in Kyren's

:15:12. > :15:15.camp, you are probably saying to him, don't give it to him easily.

:15:16. > :15:22.Make him work for it and take it one step at a time. Let's say hello

:15:23. > :15:28.again to Dennis Taylor. Thank you. Welcome back. Can the

:15:29. > :15:33.comeback continue? That was an unbelievable tournament high break

:15:34. > :15:40.from Kyren there. 143. Is funny, he was asking the officials, I need to

:15:41. > :15:56.know, I need the money, I am getting married in six weeks!

:15:57. > :16:05.Not the best break of shot from Kyren. He has left a bread and there

:16:06. > :16:14.is a gap between the red and the black bear. -- he has left a red.

:16:15. > :16:30.There is also a gap between the red and the black. Can he get in between

:16:31. > :16:36.the red and the long black shot. I think he'll be nominating brown,

:16:37. > :16:44.probably, here. He made sure of the pot, thought he might avoid the

:16:45. > :16:55.black but heated full ball. It looks as if brown is the easiest one to

:16:56. > :17:00.get to. Brown it is. He could get to the gallows so he was OK. -- to the

:17:01. > :17:48.yellow. The target with the safety shot is

:17:49. > :17:52.if you were trying to play a cannon onto the yellow, to reach there,

:17:53. > :18:14.with the chance of a snooker. Not quite. He can just see enough of

:18:15. > :18:23.the red to be left to get back down. The same scenario for Kyren.

:18:24. > :18:32.Swinging around but didn't get enough pace on it. Of course, there

:18:33. > :18:42.is nothing worse going -- nothing worth going for now because the pink

:18:43. > :18:46.is tied up. There is nothing worth a shot to nothing because the colours

:18:47. > :19:11.are tied up. This next safety shot may bring some

:19:12. > :19:14.more reds into play here. He has got to be careful he doesn't knock

:19:15. > :19:43.anything over this left-hand pocket. He erred on the cautious side whilst

:19:44. > :19:49.playing that safety shot. I just wonder whether Mark Selby will take

:19:50. > :19:57.the red just to be left of the pink? If he does, he will bring the pink

:19:58. > :20:04.into play. Looks like he will take the more aggressive safety shot. He

:20:05. > :20:15.tried to but the pink wasn't released. Yes, Cairo -- Kyren can

:20:16. > :20:39.get just back down. That has opened the red Sox

:20:40. > :20:44.somewhat. It is a pretty good shot. I say it is a pretty good shot. Mark

:20:45. > :20:52.Selby when he is playing well is the nominal at these shots. It requires

:20:53. > :20:53.excellent cueing but that is one of his specialities when things are

:20:54. > :21:15.going well. A great shot, wasn't it? You called

:21:16. > :21:20.it well, Dennis. Actually got too much spin, if that is possible. He

:21:21. > :21:31.hit it too well. Overcooked it slightly. Beautiful cueing. I'm not

:21:32. > :21:35.sure what Kyren said to mark as we show you that excellent shot but

:21:36. > :21:43.both players had a smile there. They are still smiling, so that was nice

:21:44. > :21:53.to see. He probably said, thanks very much, Mark, for that last shot.

:21:54. > :21:59.He is in all sorts of trouble there. This is a two-cushion get out and

:22:00. > :22:08.flick the red. I'm not surprised he has missed it first chance. Doesn't

:22:09. > :22:14.want to leave a free ball. He would rather miss it a view times and then

:22:15. > :22:22.get it just right. Absolutely. His target is the red to the side of the

:22:23. > :22:31.pink. He got a decent go at it from the first attempt. That is the sort

:22:32. > :22:35.of line. A little bit of left-hand side just to try to plants that

:22:36. > :22:40.road. He doesn't want to hit it full ball. -- just to try to glance that

:22:41. > :23:29.red. He hit it well. Another superb long part -- pot. You

:23:30. > :23:38.can really get yourself out of trouble with both kinds of pots. He

:23:39. > :23:43.is going to have two get himself another escape here, Kyren Wilson. A

:23:44. > :23:50.two-cushion escape is not on here. This is much trickier to get safe.

:23:51. > :24:16.Not so much to hit the red but to get safe from there.

:24:17. > :24:25.Whichever way he goes, see if he lands on that thread, he will have

:24:26. > :24:30.to be absolutely spot on. -- at red. He has got all sorts of problems.

:24:31. > :24:38.The only thing going for him, if he tries to lay on the one that is just

:24:39. > :24:41.behind the black spot, if he left a red on, it wouldn't be easy to get

:24:42. > :24:52.on a colour because the black is way up the table.

:24:53. > :25:01.Is that going to reach? It is a long way short. He has left a pot on. I

:25:02. > :25:07.think he can get the cue three to cue at this one into the right

:25:08. > :25:14.corner and the left corner. The pink is not in the way. It is definitely

:25:15. > :25:21.worth having a go at this red, isn't it because Kyren Wilson would play

:25:22. > :25:38.the same shot. He has got a couple of reds to go out. -- go at.

:25:39. > :25:47.He would love to get that black back on the spot. It is just a little too

:25:48. > :25:48.short to get it into the centre. He will take the blue or the green

:25:49. > :26:09.here. If he can somehow get on one of

:26:10. > :26:15.these reds that are out in the open. He is probably thinking a couple of

:26:16. > :26:22.shots down the road, if he can get onto it, the black will be

:26:23. > :26:46.available. He doesn't have to worry about that now. That will do.

:26:47. > :26:52.Yes, he's not going to bother with the black, as she said, Ken. He

:26:53. > :27:17.could possibly win this match with blues and pinks.

:27:18. > :27:29.Absolutely spot on. Having the cue ball clean here. I don't think he

:27:30. > :27:35.got heavy contact but he asked Colin Humphreys just to clean the cue

:27:36. > :27:40.ball. Kyren can only sit and hope that something goes wrong here. But

:27:41. > :28:10.it is looking good for the world number one.

:28:11. > :28:16.A slightly earlier finish for us here on BBC Two this morning but we

:28:17. > :28:22.will be back at 1pm on BBC Two with the Barry Hawkins Marco Fu second

:28:23. > :28:27.session of their quarterfinal match. Hazel in the chair today. Steve

:28:28. > :28:32.Davis and Stephen Hendry in the studio, so more coverage of the

:28:33. > :28:34.Betfred World Championship ban and the BBC sport app has everything

:28:35. > :29:01.that you could want until then. You're asking where I was

:29:02. > :29:06.when Lindsay Denton was murdered?
