:00:37. > :00:42.A week into the 20 17th Bedford World Snooker Championship, second

:00:43. > :00:48.round well underway on what a match this morning on BBC Two, and all

:00:49. > :00:53.China affair as Liang Wen Bo, the runner-up at the UK Championship in

:00:54. > :00:58.2015 takes on his very good friend, the man beating in last year getting

:00:59. > :01:08.Crucible final by Mark Selby, Ding Junhui. The art of making anything

:01:09. > :01:12.brilliant is making it look simple and when you look at the player on

:01:13. > :01:17.the circuit makes it look simple it's Ding Junhui with the amazing

:01:18. > :01:22.control. The cube or control is the best I've ever seen. I remember

:01:23. > :01:27.Steve Davis seeing through the 80s he was always the correct side of a

:01:28. > :01:34.bowl and Niang has taken that to the next level. When he's in and amongst

:01:35. > :01:38.that, getting from A to B seems so simple, never any complications, he

:01:39. > :01:48.never falls straight on the black if he needs to be offset. He's always

:01:49. > :01:54.on the right place. Some players have cube all that far away, it's

:01:55. > :01:59.always tight in. Making the game as easy as possible. He looks like he

:02:00. > :02:02.grew up playing on a table that a third of the size and he's used to

:02:03. > :02:07.being up there but we are sometimes over here. When I was a young player

:02:08. > :02:12.growing up, I grew up playing, we used to use Taylor's chalk and draw

:02:13. > :02:17.a line up that you have Wayne and this was the gutter. I wasn't

:02:18. > :02:25.allowed to finish in this area. I don't know if Ding Junhui has done

:02:26. > :02:30.the same thing. The shots he plays are so simple. You've noticed

:02:31. > :02:38.something different about practice routine. Things are not quite the

:02:39. > :02:46.same. I haven't seen him practice at his facility, I seen him practice

:02:47. > :02:49.and venues. We will do line-ups, any variation of break-building

:02:50. > :02:53.routines. Ding Junhui will practice frame scenarios where the reds will

:02:54. > :02:56.finish where they would naturally finish and he will be practising

:02:57. > :03:02.shots that come up in games and when you think about it, that's how we

:03:03. > :03:04.should be practising. It's like a golfer that practices only on the

:03:05. > :03:09.driving range and never goes to practice playing on the course. We

:03:10. > :03:14.are practising line-ups but we should practice actual frame

:03:15. > :03:19.scenarios. The pack splitting, is this the right to move the pack?

:03:20. > :03:23.Ding Junhui is very good at that. If he's trying to play the red here for

:03:24. > :03:35.the blue, he always finishes the correct side of the red. Ding is

:03:36. > :03:39.always on the correct side of the line to get the ball, never finishes

:03:40. > :03:43.straight. He's always on the black with the correct angle to play

:03:44. > :04:52.whatever shot he wants and when he does that correctly he's unbeatable.

:04:53. > :04:57.He reached the quarterfinals in 2008 and beaten by Ronnie O'Sullivan.

:04:58. > :05:02.Love looking at those celebrations when he got through to the final of

:05:03. > :05:07.the UK Championship in 2015. There he is, looking at the World

:05:08. > :05:11.Championship board. Will his name be on 2017? I have to say it wasn't the

:05:12. > :05:14.best performance in his first-round match against Stuart Carrington but

:05:15. > :05:19.if you know setting up a mouthwatering clash against is very

:05:20. > :05:23.good friend Ding Junhui. On table two, Stuart Bingham takes on Kyren

:05:24. > :05:28.Wilson, the second session of their match. Wilson took the first five

:05:29. > :05:34.frames. That is available on the red button this morning and on the BBC

:05:35. > :05:35.sport website and BBC sport app. The players are ready, let's join our

:05:36. > :05:45.MC. Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

:05:46. > :05:48.started a week ago with 32, now only 16 remaining, four qualifiers and 12

:05:49. > :05:53.top seed is bidding to become this year getting World Snooker champion.

:05:54. > :05:57.A massive session of the crew awaits us and lets not forget we still got

:05:58. > :06:18.11 full days of action to go in Sheffield. APPLAUSE

:06:19. > :06:25.Please welcome first of all on table two, a young player brimming with

:06:26. > :06:29.confidence after a great start yesterday. Winner of the Shanghai

:06:30. > :06:32.Masters in 2015, he made the Indian Open final this season, now

:06:33. > :06:35.established in the world's top 16, they call him the warrior, Kyren

:06:36. > :06:39.Wilson. APPLAUSE

:06:40. > :07:00.Liang and his opponent, making his sixth

:07:01. > :07:04.appearance in the second round here and from 5-0 down yesterday he drew

:07:05. > :07:09.on and on the experience to reduce the deficit, world champion in 2015,

:07:10. > :07:11.he won the Welsh Open in fine style this February, the pride of Essex,

:07:12. > :07:37.is the bull run, Stuart Bingham. Millions of people in China will be

:07:38. > :07:41.tuning in for the start of this match on table one. Please welcome a

:07:42. > :07:45.man making his first appearance in the second round since his debut

:07:46. > :07:49.back in 2008. Year after victory over Stuart Carrington, winner of

:07:50. > :07:53.his first ranking title this season at the English open, cracking win

:07:54. > :07:55.over Judd Trump. He wears his heart on his sleeve, that's why he is

:07:56. > :08:20.China's firecracker, Liang Wenbo. His opponent, facing his second all

:08:21. > :08:26.Chinese clash of the tournament after knocking out Zhou Yuelong.

:08:27. > :08:31.Training Shanghai Masters champion, winner of 12 big ones in all, and

:08:32. > :08:56.national hero back on, so enter the Dragon, Ding Junhui. APPLAUSE

:08:57. > :09:04.huge day on the BBC today, Shaun Murphy against Ronnie O'Sullivan

:09:05. > :09:07.live at 2:30pm on BBC Two. John Higgins starting against Mark Allen

:09:08. > :09:15.is later, for now, good morning to Willie Thorne and Stephen Hendry.

:09:16. > :09:22.COMMENTATOR: Good morning, very much looking forward to this battle of

:09:23. > :09:29.the two best Cheney sticker players in the world at the moment. It's 5pm

:09:30. > :09:33.in China, I bet there's a good few million people tuned in to this one.

:09:34. > :09:40.-- Chinese snooker players. I expect this to be full of breaks

:09:41. > :09:47.this morning, both incredible break-builders. The surprising fact

:09:48. > :09:52.that Liang Wenbo Holzer 3-1 advantage over Ding Junhui in the

:09:53. > :10:01.head to heads. Might find that surprising. Ding being a regular

:10:02. > :10:09.tournament winner. That's the pot success. It is very high.

:10:10. > :10:19.Ahead in the long pot department. Ding ahead in that safety success as

:10:20. > :10:28.well, not looking very good for Liang Wenbo at the moment.

:10:29. > :10:35.All the stats say that Ding should win this match but every match is

:10:36. > :10:36.different and it snowed the best of 25. Eight frames in this morning's

:10:37. > :11:00.session. APPLAUSE Ding was superb in his first session

:11:01. > :11:11.of his first round match. Three centuries. Couple of 60s. I still

:11:12. > :11:21.believe, Willie, he is miles ahead. I really do. I've got to admit, he's

:11:22. > :11:25.up there with yourself in the brick building department, he's super when

:11:26. > :11:33.he gets to this end of the table. At the moment, the best players in the

:11:34. > :11:39.game are Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins and Ding around the pink and

:11:40. > :11:44.black. Very really you see when these players are in form, going up

:11:45. > :11:47.for bold colours or blue. That's always a sign of great

:11:48. > :11:52.break-builders, some of the players after two shots they're playing for

:11:53. > :12:01.the green or yellow. 440 competitive centuries. We always say the chink

:12:02. > :12:10.in his armour might be the temperaments. Especially at this

:12:11. > :12:13.venue. He got to the final last year. Partly due to the fact he had

:12:14. > :12:21.to qualify, so there was less expectation on him. Huge expectation

:12:22. > :12:24.from China for Ding to be their first world champion. Massive star

:12:25. > :12:38.over there. Some players never settle here.

:12:39. > :12:42.Until you win and match here, it's a very hard place to play. Always talk

:12:43. > :12:46.about rookies coming here for the first time and very rarely does more

:12:47. > :12:49.than one rookie get through the first round battle until they've

:12:50. > :12:57.been here a couple of times. It's all to any other place. Walking

:12:58. > :13:01.through that stage door, arriving in Sheffield. It's the home of snooker

:13:02. > :13:15.for me. Always will be. APPLAUSE Liang Wenbo looked very serious. The

:13:16. > :13:20.two players had a laugh and a joke before they kicked off but when he

:13:21. > :13:28.was walking into his music, he looked very serious.

:13:29. > :13:39.Target here behind brown and green, that's where he will be looking to

:13:40. > :13:47.get. Good line. The cue ball well short. This was another factor of

:13:48. > :13:58.his first session in his first-round match, he potted ten of 11 long pot.

:13:59. > :14:01.That coupled together with his brick building is going to see him very

:14:02. > :14:20.difficult to beat in this championship. Found that path very

:14:21. > :14:23.nicely. The pleasing thing with Ding, the two shots he's played have

:14:24. > :14:26.gone right in the heart of the pocket, it reminds you when you're

:14:27. > :14:35.playing that you're cueing well. You can have a go at another few, if the

:14:36. > :15:18.balls were going off the jaws he'd wait but he's feeling good.

:15:19. > :15:25.He had a massive loss this year when he lost his mother, he always used

:15:26. > :15:33.to be over here with him. Looking after him and managing him. Maybe he

:15:34. > :15:43.has done little spare, he's going to do it for his mum.

:15:44. > :15:52.Still going off the jaw. It's strange because the players don't

:15:53. > :15:59.seem to doubt it's going to go in but the angle we have it does seem

:16:00. > :16:06.to be going high. Overhit that by a long way. Hit the left-hand jaw.

:16:07. > :16:14.Looked like he panicked and it wasn't going to go on. Does this red

:16:15. > :16:21.at the end of the pack go? Not the one he played for. It's OK, he's got

:16:22. > :16:30.this to the right middle. If that red at the end of the reds behind

:16:31. > :16:34.the pinks does go, it's a decent opportunity. He can take care of

:16:35. > :16:40.this first frame. He's another 27 points to make that a reality. The

:16:41. > :17:10.widow bullseye said there will be a few more than 27.

:17:11. > :17:23.Took a risk that maybe he didn't need to play. He just needed three

:17:24. > :17:41.more reds and three colours. As always, Ding sees it very early. You

:17:42. > :17:47.spent an awful lot of time in China doing various exhibitions. How big a

:17:48. > :17:58.star is Ding in China? He's huge. He's probably in their top two or

:17:59. > :18:06.three sports stars. If he was to win the world championship, it would be

:18:07. > :18:10.astronomical what would happen. Been to almost 50 cities in China and

:18:11. > :18:14.every time you go there and you speak to the media, one of the first

:18:15. > :18:29.things they always ask if his Ding Junhui going to win the World

:18:30. > :18:34.Championship? Playing pots like that, probably yes after he's

:18:35. > :18:42.playing safe. He was expecting the red to kiss that in the middle of

:18:43. > :18:45.the table but has left him reasonably on the blue. Liang Wenbo

:18:46. > :18:47.looking at the television to tell him whether that's blue is in.

:18:48. > :19:40.Easier to look at the table. Just one more red required after

:19:41. > :19:50.this black to make the frame safe. You sense you want to let your

:19:51. > :19:52.opponent known to -- that you're playing very well, so he'll do his

:19:53. > :20:10.utmost to clear the table. I agree it's very important to try

:20:11. > :20:13.and clear the table. Some players, as soon as the frame is

:20:14. > :20:25.mathematically over, they stop concentrating. Easy short, loose

:20:26. > :20:30.positional shot. 15-20 minutes of safety play or something like that

:20:31. > :20:39.breaks up the rhythm. Better to keep on it every ball. Sometimes you

:20:40. > :20:42.don't think it matters as long as the frame is won, but you go into

:20:43. > :20:57.the next frame and your concentration isn't 100%.

:20:58. > :21:04.Can play for either right here, he's perfect on the black. Might have

:21:05. > :21:10.been tempted to dropping behind the one on the cushion.

:21:11. > :21:18.That's the one that's going to stop Ding making a century in the first

:21:19. > :21:25.frame. He is planning to take it off and he's played it perfectly. That's

:21:26. > :21:29.obviously told me why he didn't play for the red on the cushion

:21:30. > :21:32.previously. He had that plan. In fairness he might not have had the

:21:33. > :21:41.angle but that was a sensational shot.

:21:42. > :21:49.Ding made it three centuries in his first match, so this is possibly his

:21:50. > :22:56.force. -- fourth. This is not a bad start. Absolutely

:22:57. > :23:04.brilliant. Very, very well played Ding Junhui. That is just the way to

:23:05. > :23:09.start. He leads 1-0. You were very impressed with the way, I don't know

:23:10. > :23:13.how you wear when you played here, when you pot the first shot, you get

:23:14. > :23:18.a buzz, if you missed the first shot you are a little bit tentative on

:23:19. > :23:23.the next one? Absolutely, to get your first long pot in makes you

:23:24. > :23:29.feel so good and we will see a couple of examples of Ding. He is

:23:30. > :23:34.comfortable, got his hand on the table which makes the first frame,

:23:35. > :23:39.right in the middle of the pocket, it gives you so much confidence. I

:23:40. > :23:45.thought that was a shock to nothing but this one, stunted and you hear

:23:46. > :23:53.that sound of the ball hitting the back of the pocket, right in the

:23:54. > :23:57.middle. Of course, we can show you a shot in a few moments time when he

:23:58. > :24:01.played to get the red from the cushion. This is the art of brick

:24:02. > :24:05.building, this is why he's so good and makes money century, could have

:24:06. > :24:10.dropped behind the red, deliberately plays this angle on the red, not

:24:11. > :24:15.only does he just can in the red, is the pace he plays, catches the red

:24:16. > :24:22.half wall, the cue ball down to the black, that's not a fluke. Quality

:24:23. > :24:42.stuff in the first round from Ding Junhui. Flawless, really.

:24:43. > :24:51.Just a reminder it's the sessions, two sessions of eight frames. One of

:24:52. > :24:55.nine. Mentioned in the opening frame, Liang Wenbo holds a 3-1

:24:56. > :24:59.record over Ding, so won't be too concerned, he knows he will make a

:25:00. > :26:12.few centuries in this match, he just hopes he's going to make more.

:26:13. > :26:18.Of course it so difficult for these Chinese players to come to this

:26:19. > :26:23.country and spent nine months of the year away from their hometown and

:26:24. > :26:29.had to learn the language. The first time Wenbo was here and a name was

:26:30. > :26:32.announced, it wasn't him and he walked through the curtains as if it

:26:33. > :26:43.was him and then realised and turned back. It was hilarious. They speak

:26:44. > :26:55.pretty good English now, don't they? Yes, both these men speak perfect

:26:56. > :27:00.English. Left this red on. This one, I think he can drop for the black.

:27:01. > :27:21.Just play it slowly off the cushion. Three out of three, very impressive.

:27:22. > :27:46.Another one that didn't touch the jaws.

:27:47. > :28:05.another perfectly played cannon. Not just all the top players see the

:28:06. > :28:12.shots, see the cannons that are on, it's the pace. It's the pace they

:28:13. > :28:18.play it at. There are so tight for the next ball. Great chance to go

:28:19. > :28:23.through the gap. His mindset is to play to kiss the pink? With that gap

:28:24. > :28:35.there and just play it reasonable pace and have a few reds to the

:28:36. > :28:41.corner. Magnificent break-builder, just sees it like you did, pitching

:28:42. > :28:45.every shot around the black spot. Every shot you play you wanted to

:28:46. > :28:49.try to make it to a possible frame on and that's what he's done. -- a

:28:50. > :29:28.possible frame-winner. Four reds, four blacks and still

:29:29. > :29:49.perfect position. Certainly no signs of tiredness for

:29:50. > :29:55.Ding Junhui on this early start. What time does he have to get up

:29:56. > :30:05.before at ten o'clock session? Six o'clock? Round about 730-8 o'clock.

:30:06. > :30:07.Get down to the venue for about nine, 20 minutes, half an hour on

:30:08. > :30:37.the table. Two reds at the same time. If he

:30:38. > :30:40.feels he may be kissing it for a black, he could go around the two

:30:41. > :30:45.cushions for the same pocket. Team will be playing for it --

:30:46. > :31:10.Junhui will be playing for it. Perhaps he feels he can hold it.

:31:11. > :31:14.That was always a problem. That was deceleration. That could be very

:31:15. > :33:05.costly. We have seen how sharp Junhui is

:33:06. > :33:14.this morning. Apart from that red he missed. How is Wenbo feeling? He can

:33:15. > :33:15.certainly play for the red on the left-hand side of the table. Screw

:33:16. > :33:31.back to that. Hard to say if he is hampered by the

:33:32. > :33:38.blue, but it was mostly played. -- it was nicely played. It was

:33:39. > :33:51.hampered. If he was right-handed it would have

:33:52. > :34:02.been no problem. But he is left-handed so it will be awkward. I

:34:03. > :34:09.felt the cue never used react. -- I thought the cue never used to react.

:34:10. > :34:23.That is a good recovery, well done. Looking at the reds. Unless he plays

:34:24. > :34:30.the brown he won't get onto one. A follow-through of three cushions.

:34:31. > :34:44.But he is obviously far too straight on the blue. He almost hit it too

:34:45. > :34:56.well. That was a fantastic shot. It was cued beautifully. We can almost

:34:57. > :35:03.call it a blind pocket. He is having a second look at the potting angle.

:35:04. > :35:25.He just had to pick the spot and hit the spot.

:35:26. > :35:54.Nice angle, if he wants to go into the four reds and the pink. It is a

:35:55. > :36:02.decent target. Is that a plant? The way he was looking. If he doesn't

:36:03. > :36:06.want to go directly into the reds from potting this red into the

:36:07. > :36:10.corner, he can play a half canon. Stay on the black. Although, I think

:36:11. > :36:28.it might be risky. Try and get an angle on the black. Perfect. Well

:36:29. > :36:34.played. Saying that, the cue ball has gifted a couple of inches too

:36:35. > :36:38.far. The red on the outside of the four. Canon that and it would leave

:36:39. > :36:42.a red. But I think he just has to go into the red between the pink and

:36:43. > :36:49.black. Any contact on the red is needed, but just make sure you pot

:36:50. > :36:54.the black. Well played. Doing this well this morning. We could be in

:36:55. > :36:58.for a fantastic session of snooker this morning between these two

:36:59. > :37:05.players. This would really hurt Junhui. He will be kidding himself.

:37:06. > :37:10.Why have I not gone for the pink? Why have I not gone for the frame?

:37:11. > :37:16.It just shows you that one mistake can be really costly, especially if

:37:17. > :37:30.your opponent is playing really well.

:37:31. > :37:46.He should learn how to win ugly sometimes.

:37:47. > :37:59.18 points needed. Two pinks isn't enough. He is going to need the

:38:00. > :38:02.yellow and green. But the angle onto the green is not going to be easy,

:38:03. > :38:07.unless he places the green in the middle. It helps that he is

:38:08. > :38:18.left-handed, though. This is the best angle he has got

:38:19. > :38:48.now on the black. He is looking at the possibility of

:38:49. > :38:51.leaving half bald pink to left middle. Then it would be easy to

:38:52. > :38:58.stand up to the right-hand cushion to get onto the yellow. -- stun up

:38:59. > :39:04.to the right-hand cushion to get onto the yellow. But he is playing

:39:05. > :39:15.the black now. A touch of left-hand side. The cue ball is somewhere

:39:16. > :39:25.where his body is just now. Oh! Careless. He wasn't concentrating on

:39:26. > :39:35.the positional side of that. That has... For a moment I thought that

:39:36. > :39:41.was going to go in. The black off the spot. White Hart. Well, as he

:39:42. > :39:56.was looking at the pocket, the right half of the pocket. -- right half.

:39:57. > :40:08.Somewhere between green and brown... Well, it may be flipped a bit of

:40:09. > :40:12.side on -- it may be flicked a bit of side on. Does he risk the pink?

:40:13. > :40:18.And then come all the way around the table. Or does he go for a safety?

:40:19. > :40:21.Possibly getting one lifeline in this. But he might be needing

:40:22. > :40:45.another one. Not as planned, but he will be happy

:40:46. > :40:52.with it. Canon on the blue, and then he checks the cushion. Concentrating

:40:53. > :41:31.automatically on the blue. Slowdown or speed up now. No need to

:41:32. > :41:41.think about position at all, obviously. Just pot now. It is

:41:42. > :41:52.there. APPLAUSE

:41:53. > :41:59.Excellent start from Junhui. He has a chance -- he had a chance of a

:42:00. > :42:09.very big break. Wenbo missed his chance. And it is Junhui who takes

:42:10. > :42:15.the lead. We talked about how this table seems to be... Let's have a

:42:16. > :42:27.look. Watch the red. Is this in when he hits it? That is not in for me.

:42:28. > :42:33.Never in. It looks half an inch off. This is only a quarter of an inch,

:42:34. > :42:39.the black. This looks in as soon as he hits it. We are going to watch it

:42:40. > :42:46.now. That is in there. And it just touches the front. Everybody talks

:42:47. > :42:49.about the table fitters. The officials have said that the pockets

:42:50. > :42:54.are the same, everything is the same, maybe it is the cloth. But

:42:55. > :43:00.that first shot, I just don't believe it is in. It just proves

:43:01. > :43:09.that you have to go for the far one. Not every tournament is the same.

:43:10. > :43:18.Sometimes it is the near tables, they will flick it off the near. But

:43:19. > :43:23.just shows how costly it can be. This game at the top level, you

:43:24. > :43:27.cannot let your concentration slip at any moment. He had no thoughts of

:43:28. > :43:30.missing that black. It was no pressure. It was just complete

:43:31. > :43:42.carelessness. Just concentrating on the cue ball. He took his eye off

:43:43. > :43:46.the pot. It will be a delighted Junhui coming back to the table. He

:43:47. > :43:53.missed out on the chance of getting a 147. He would have been very

:43:54. > :43:57.annoyed with himself sitting there. But the fact he pinched the frame,

:43:58. > :44:49.he will be delighted, as he breaks off in frame number three.

:44:50. > :45:03.To the right of the pack. He will want to get back to baulk. There is

:45:04. > :45:26.the gap. And that is a pretty good safety.

:45:27. > :45:35.Ding playing the rest to get the redback on the back cushion.

:45:36. > :45:38.Surprising choice. -- red back on the back cushion. But played

:45:39. > :46:52.beautifully. That could have gone so wrong.

:46:53. > :46:59.And has a look to see if he would be pushing a road towards the corner.

:47:00. > :47:12.He won't be doing that if he has hit it thin enough. -- has a look to see

:47:13. > :48:15.if he would be pushing a red towards the corner.

:48:16. > :48:23.A little bit of pace with the cue ball. So it is a relatively

:48:24. > :48:37.straightforward safety. As he found a pot? I don't know how he is going

:48:38. > :48:43.to miss the kiss on the two Reds. He played it nicely, but that was

:48:44. > :48:48.risky. Claim to perfection. He may have a thin cut, but he will have an

:48:49. > :49:15.idea of what the cue ball is going to go,

:49:16. > :49:22.though that is the first attempt at a long pot this morning that he has

:49:23. > :49:35.missed. And he has missed by a long way.

:49:36. > :49:49.This is awkward. He will have to screw up this red, cue ball back up

:49:50. > :50:05.the table. He didn't get into it. How about the black? He has had a

:50:06. > :50:14.result there. Obviously not. As we say, aim for the far jaw, but he

:50:15. > :50:27.does not fancy it. There is pressure on this. Good shot. He will have to

:50:28. > :50:33.have a look at what is left. He should have missed that green. It

:50:34. > :50:43.was a big shot to take on. Another one right in the middle of the

:50:44. > :50:48.pocket. The black in the right-hand corner is very tight. The left-hand

:50:49. > :50:53.corner is available. Whether he will play for it now... No, he has played

:50:54. > :50:59.for the blue. The red over the left-hand corner, nothing good on it

:51:00. > :51:02.if the black is available on the right-hand corner. So he really

:51:03. > :51:17.needs to go for the black after the next available red. Looks to be too

:51:18. > :51:23.straight on this. He is just looking at whether pink Wilko. If he goes

:51:24. > :51:30.for the pink in the middle. The black spot would tie them up. -- he

:51:31. > :51:55.is just looking at whether the pink will go.

:51:56. > :52:03.I am surprised he played for the pink. OK, it's over the right-hand

:52:04. > :52:04.corner, but stopping both the pink and black going into the right-hand

:52:05. > :52:38.corner now. Didn't really want to be playing

:52:39. > :52:43.this red yet. But he is playing for the red at the right-hand corner.

:52:44. > :52:56.This end, right in the middle of the table.

:52:57. > :53:06.He will play the pink here. Screw the two reds on the pink spot. He'll

:53:07. > :53:15.need to play with a bit of pace. He could snooker himself. Make sure he

:53:16. > :53:21.hits this hard enough. He has played for the single red. Obviously

:53:22. > :53:23.happier with the pink or black, none of them going to the left-hand

:53:24. > :53:52.corner. Happy with the situation. We have lost our live coverage.

:53:53. > :57:33.Hopefully back to the programme as soon as we can.

:57:34. > :57:43.And work -- that was very hard work, but break. Trying to get the cue

:57:44. > :57:45.ball close to the baulk cushion. He just doesn't entertain any

:57:46. > :57:51.possibility of missing it. It did not come into his mind. Frame ball,

:57:52. > :58:04.I agree, was the time to play that shot to nothing. Now he is playing

:58:05. > :58:11.the black to cannon. Apologies for the loss of picture a short time ago

:58:12. > :58:15.on the Junhui Wenbo match. Pleased to say that pictures are now

:58:16. > :58:18.available and being transmitted as they should be. But if you are

:58:19. > :58:21.watching on the red button this morning, a quick announcement just

:58:22. > :58:28.to say that the red button will cease to be showing the snooker for

:58:29. > :58:32.the time being. But you can carry on watching the other games on our

:58:33. > :58:37.website. Throughout this championship you can choose your

:58:38. > :58:50.matches on the app. In the meantime, let's go back to the Junhui Wenbo

:58:51. > :58:57.match. A really good effort from Ding. He pouched the black. And got

:58:58. > :59:06.a kiss on the two reds. A little bit fuller and he would have got the red

:59:07. > :59:12.interplay. He generated topspin. He could have brought all four red

:59:13. > :59:14.interplay. But it is very easy to get onto the black when the reds are

:59:15. > :59:42.eventually split up. I must admit, I would be tempted to

:59:43. > :59:46.pot the red. It is dodgy. But you could follow through the cue ball.

:59:47. > :59:50.Play with a bit of pace. Get the cue ball below where the black is. And

:59:51. > :59:57.if he missed it, hopefully the Redwood, way from the pocket --

:59:58. > :00:02.hopefully the red would come away from the pocket. We have discussed

:00:03. > :00:12.many times that it is a far jaw table. Here we go. It is a very

:00:13. > :00:19.tough pot, but I feel it is worth the risk. If the -- if he follows

:00:20. > :00:27.the cue ball to take it underneath the red and the Black. But I don't

:00:28. > :00:31.think it is going to take it on. -- I don't think he is going to take it

:00:32. > :00:39.on. He would like that to red to stop. It is a good shot in the end.

:00:40. > :00:41.Maybe the right choice. It remains to be seen, but that was a good

:00:42. > :01:30.safety shot from Wenbo. If Ding can play some sort of

:01:31. > :01:34.telling safety shot here will bring four reds into play. Liang Wenbo

:01:35. > :02:16.needs to put a red safe. Webb excellent length of cue ball.

:02:17. > :02:20.This safety shot is now fraught with danger. Very difficult not to put a

:02:21. > :02:35.red over the right corner pocket here.

:02:36. > :02:50.Ding just grimacing there. That was purely because of where the yellow

:02:51. > :02:57.ball has gone. Making contact with the girl has made this red pottable

:02:58. > :03:10.to the right corner. We'll play it with some left-hand side.

:03:11. > :03:41.That is frame ball now for Liang Wenbo. Ding needs snookers.

:03:42. > :03:48.I think he's helped himself together very well, Liang Wenbo, lost the

:03:49. > :03:54.second frame which he thought he was going to lose at first when Ding

:03:55. > :03:59.Junhui potted six reds and six blacks and then he had a chance to

:04:00. > :04:04.win it and missed an easy black and has done very well to keep himself

:04:05. > :04:06.together. Wonder if Ding will come back to the table. 60 points behind

:04:07. > :04:30.with only 51 on. I was talking, to the other day how

:04:31. > :04:35.many frames can be won from a one needing snookers. Without the

:04:36. > :04:40.championship -- throw the chav Egypt I wouldn't think there would be more

:04:41. > :04:47.than ten frames. I would go nearer five. -- throughout the

:04:48. > :04:57.championship. It's almost rarer than 147. Matches like John Higgins, Mark

:04:58. > :05:02.Selby. The two best in the world in that department, there was always a

:05:03. > :05:05.chance. It's so important when you win the frame mathematically to keep

:05:06. > :05:12.potting and to get back to the table. Here for 17 days, hopefully a

:05:13. > :05:21.lot of snooker to be played, you don't want extra 15-20 minutes

:05:22. > :05:25.because they add up. Not the two snookers he needs, to win this train

:05:26. > :06:09.he'd need to get seven snookers to miss two.

:06:10. > :06:25.Cue ball is very close. If you didn't pot a colour, he would

:06:26. > :06:29.certainly concede. I'm sure he'll look at Liang Wenbo and he's given

:06:30. > :06:42.him the frame, largely due to the break of 62.

:06:43. > :06:53.Stephen, we had a long debate in the commentary box about Liang Wenbo, he

:06:54. > :06:56.needed just a red, whatever happens with the red we're talking about, he

:06:57. > :07:00.could play it slow, he could play it hard but we've already found out

:07:01. > :07:04.that the red along the cushion from the farm job is very easy. We were

:07:05. > :07:10.discussing that we both thought we would have gone for this. He can

:07:11. > :07:14.leave the cue ball, somewhere where the black is, if he pots that red,

:07:15. > :07:19.it's a straight shot, if he goes for it with enough pace to follow the

:07:20. > :07:24.cue ball underneath where the bikers, if he misses the red he'll

:07:25. > :07:28.come away from the pocket. -- wherein the red is. Chose the safety

:07:29. > :07:36.and to be fair he played it very well, little but fortunate with the

:07:37. > :07:43.reds running list didn't go over a pocket -- the two reds running

:07:44. > :07:50.loose. Liang Wenbo is behind in virtually every statistic. You see

:07:51. > :07:57.Ding, the highest break of the tournament, long pot success. That's

:07:58. > :08:00.good with the long pot success, you only get three quarters of your long

:08:01. > :08:06.pot. Will be interesting to see what the stats of the winner would be

:08:07. > :08:12.with the long pot success rate. If you get 50% it's pretty good over

:08:13. > :08:19.the tournament. Both players back in and there is the wonderful arena.

:08:20. > :08:21.Two Chinese players, they're giving us a treat this morning, playing to

:08:22. > :08:38.a very high standard. Playing eight frames in this first

:08:39. > :08:48.session. This is the last one before the mid-session interval.

:08:49. > :08:57.Nice frame for Ding Junhui to win and be 3-1 up. Only has to win one

:08:58. > :09:06.of the remaining four to be at least level. These little mini sessions

:09:07. > :09:13.come into play in long matches. This is a test of caring for Liang Wenbo.

:09:14. > :09:19.Dead straight red to the corner, the sort of professionals buying up in

:09:20. > :09:26.practice and play for a couple of hours, medium length straight pots.

:09:27. > :09:32.Of all the World Championship 3-1, what was the biggest deficit, did

:09:33. > :09:40.you ever lose a session 7-1, 8-0 or anything like that? I certainly lost

:09:41. > :09:44.a lot of sessions, maybe not 7-18- zero, but somebody might correct me.

:09:45. > :09:49.Sometimes it would be damage limitation, the difference between

:09:50. > :09:56.7-1 and 6-2 over Anna four session match can be huge. If that was a

:09:57. > :10:07.test of straight cueing, then he's filled it. -- failed it. Sometimes

:10:08. > :10:11.when you get the cue ball cleaned it can distract you. He went down to

:10:12. > :10:23.play a shot, he thought he saw something, had to get back again.

:10:24. > :10:32.The blue appears to be on the way. We'll play to the bunch from the

:10:33. > :10:35.green. Could play from the pink to the yellow but there is the red at

:10:36. > :10:42.the back of the pack that will pass to the corner and the one that is in

:10:43. > :10:46.open play to the left of the pink. Didn't play for the ride down the

:10:47. > :10:51.cushion, that's for certain. -- didn't play for the red. Didn't time

:10:52. > :11:01.that want at all, he didn't want the cue ball anywhere near the cushion.

:11:02. > :11:14.Not only is the pot difficult, has to get the cue ball away from the

:11:15. > :11:21.cushion. That's well played. Very good. Definitely a bonus. He missed

:11:22. > :11:24.tying the first red. To finish on that red with an angle to get onto

:11:25. > :11:37.the black, a little but fortunate. May end up going to the bunch here

:11:38. > :11:42.because it's a flat line and they are very tightly bunched, he would

:11:43. > :11:46.need to hit it very hard to get the cue ball through them, might follow

:11:47. > :11:50.through to the cushion for the red to the left of the pink. He's going

:11:51. > :11:55.to play to the bunch but will have to be struck pretty firmly. That

:11:56. > :12:00.little gap, if he can get through there it would be a good way to play

:12:01. > :12:09.it. He got the gap. Good shot. Red to the left middle. There you see,

:12:10. > :12:14.just squeezes it through the tight gap of the reds.

:12:15. > :12:19.This is not straightforward. Has to play it with pace to go up for the

:12:20. > :13:16.green. Even though he has those loose reds,

:13:17. > :13:28.will try to land on this black. Not at this time. Just playing the

:13:29. > :13:34.run-through round the back of the red to the same pocket as the black.

:13:35. > :13:35.He played this done. Going to the back of the pack as well, that's

:13:36. > :14:19.handy. One more loose red, possibly the one

:14:20. > :14:25.to the middle of the reds will go as well but always good to call -- to

:14:26. > :14:29.go to the middle of the bunch for a bit of insurance. I never liked

:14:30. > :14:36.leaving it till the very end when there were no reds available. I

:14:37. > :14:41.think that's higher on the black than he would have liked but there

:14:42. > :14:49.is a red right in the middle that goes to the same pocket. That's

:14:50. > :15:08.perfect. Well played. Both tables were recovered yesterday

:15:09. > :15:11.morning. The commentator in the afternoon session, I thought the

:15:12. > :15:19.tables where playing very slow. Back to normal again now. The television

:15:20. > :15:26.lights have speeded things up as well as the under table heaters.

:15:27. > :15:29.Might have red that goes to the same pocket as the black year. That's

:15:30. > :15:41.what he's played for, things opening up nicely. Just deciding if he needs

:15:42. > :15:45.an angle on the black. Just had a quick look to see if it was

:15:46. > :15:50.available to the middle, the plant. If the plant is not on, he'd like to

:15:51. > :15:54.finish law on the black and cannon into the reds knowing it would be

:15:55. > :16:05.better going with the rights to the left and right corner.

:16:06. > :16:17.Needs one more close to win the frame. Just under the two trends

:16:18. > :16:29.away from the four, leave one to the right corner. I would suggest this

:16:30. > :16:36.time there will be an angle left on the black. Or pink he can go for.

:16:37. > :16:46.Pink is actually probably a better shot. Huge target now. As long as he

:16:47. > :16:51.doesn't get to the cue ball and head the left-hand side of the bunch.

:16:52. > :17:01.He'll play to the right-hand side and got a knife and click it and --

:17:02. > :17:05.he'd obviously try and flick it. If he's on this red he's very

:17:06. > :17:08.fortunate. You want to be anything but hitting the left-hand side of

:17:09. > :17:15.the reds there. That was careless. It was a poor shot for somebody as

:17:16. > :17:19.good as Ding Junhui. Take the half bottle on the other side because he

:17:20. > :17:26.might have sprung off the other two red. Very fortunate to get on that

:17:27. > :17:32.one. That could and should be a free manner and an interval 3-1 lead. Can

:17:33. > :17:44.go into the two reds if he wants, the right half of them. Off two

:17:45. > :17:52.cushions. There's been an excellent stuff the first four frames. It

:17:53. > :17:54.really has. I can think of one easy chance each they missed in the first

:17:55. > :18:09.four frames. Starting to look like Ding will make

:18:10. > :18:21.his second century of this morning in an session. We had a little

:18:22. > :18:25.friendly bet between myself, I've gone with two and under centuries in

:18:26. > :18:34.the first three frames and Stephen has gone for three and over. Not

:18:35. > :18:42.looking good for me at the moment. Already made four centuries.

:18:43. > :18:49.Wouldn't bet against the fifth coming up here. I think last year in

:18:50. > :18:55.the World Championship on the route to the final he made more than

:18:56. > :18:57.anyone, 15 centuries. He's a machine, Willie. Been studying the

:18:58. > :19:07.stats coming out with that information? This is flawless, isn't

:19:08. > :19:11.it, the first century made of the morning session was on a string,

:19:12. > :19:15.apart from that one shot where he kissed the wrong side of the pack.

:19:16. > :19:29.He's been excellent in this one as well. Very, very high standard. Yes,

:19:30. > :19:30.looks like already when Ding gets an early, the first opportunity is

:19:31. > :20:13.going to win it. Didn't quite get the desired cannon

:20:14. > :20:20.on the blue. What a shame it wasn't a total clearance. Tap from Liang

:20:21. > :20:26.Wenbo to appreciate that century. This morning's session has been

:20:27. > :20:29.flawless. Wonderful start from Ding Junhui, back to that match shortly

:20:30. > :20:32.after the mid-session interval and will surely the highlights of the

:20:33. > :20:37.other match taking place on the other table this morning at the

:20:38. > :20:43.Crucible. Stuart Bingham is trailing overnight 5-3. You may see just

:20:44. > :20:52.behind me, Ronnie O'Sullivan getting ready for today's match against

:20:53. > :21:00.Shaun Murphy. They saw that as nothing ever fans love more than

:21:01. > :21:08.watching a 147. Cliff Thorburn's 147 isn't on there but it's 20 years to

:21:09. > :21:13.the day -- to the day that that man rattled in the quickest 147.

:21:14. > :21:23.Everybody wants to make a 147 but do it at the Crucible is one of

:21:24. > :21:28.proudest moments. Magnificent, Jimmy White creates history. Massive

:21:29. > :21:38.achievement for me. Greatest memories. Listen to the raw if this

:21:39. > :21:42.pink and black goes in. I had to come up and down the table from the

:21:43. > :21:54.pink to come down to the black. The cue ball kept on running. Just don't

:21:55. > :21:58.leave it tight on the cushion. The third 147 maximum in Crucible

:21:59. > :22:09.history. Looking back at it now it was a horrible black.

:22:10. > :22:24.And he forced the cue ball into that cluster? Four minutes for the

:22:25. > :22:27.century. Amazing. What a fantastic five minutes from Ronnie O'Sullivan.

:22:28. > :22:39.Unbelievable maximum break. Now he's got them where he wants

:22:40. > :22:53.them. He's normally devastating when the reds are like this. ?169,000 for

:22:54. > :23:03.this pot. Wonderful, wonderful display from Ronnie O'Sullivan. Not

:23:04. > :23:08.a bad start, five reds, five blacks. Little bit of history. He'll be the

:23:09. > :23:11.first ever Welsh player to hit a maximum at the Crucible. Come on,

:23:12. > :23:22.Mark. Unbelievable. Mark Williams. I'm over the moon. I'm shaking a bit

:23:23. > :23:24.now. I bet you can't wait to tell Stephen Hendry the good news. Yes,

:23:25. > :24:00.he can't be far away. Deep breath now. Remember your

:24:01. > :24:07.technique. Marvellous! Marvellous! Ali Carter's first maximum in

:24:08. > :24:17.competition. What a place to make it. He's going to have to play it

:24:18. > :24:24.with pace and come out of baulk. Good shot needed. This cue ball,

:24:25. > :24:38.stop there. A marvellous champion, and

:24:39. > :24:46.marvellous moment. One of many in his marvellous career. Very similar

:24:47. > :24:57.to the shot that Cliff Shaun Byrne had on this very table. In it goes.

:24:58. > :25:00.Absolutely fantastic. There is only one Stephen Hendry. Absolutely

:25:01. > :25:10.fantastic. After almost falling Shaun Murphy

:25:11. > :25:17.Stuard, I'm delighted to see. What's your name again? . He's here

:25:18. > :25:22.alongside me. Thank you very much for the tweets saying you got Shaun

:25:23. > :25:25.Murphy's name long. You make one fatal error and that's it, the world

:25:26. > :25:30.knows about it. When you look back at that take there, great memories?

:25:31. > :25:34.Yes, that last one I made was my last ever time here at the Crucible,

:25:35. > :25:38.so a lovely way to end my career here. The plastic stuff, when you

:25:39. > :25:43.look at some of the players who done it, when you look back, as a snooker

:25:44. > :25:48.fan, apart from yours, which one excites you the most? Ronnie

:25:49. > :25:56.Sullivan's is incredible, will never be done again. Cliff Shaun

:25:57. > :26:03.this much backswing, to power the yellow was a phenomenal shot. We

:26:04. > :26:09.will see that one very shortly. What's your assessment of Ding and

:26:10. > :26:13.Liang. Ding looks very sharp, when he gets in the frame early, he looks

:26:14. > :26:18.like clearing up. Liang Wenbo looks very focused on getting up for it.

:26:19. > :26:22.Ding is a good bit above all the rest of the Chinese players, a level

:26:23. > :26:27.above and will be hard to stop this championship. Mark Henry, thanks

:26:28. > :26:34.very much indeed! CHUCKLES . You can stop tweeting, we all make

:26:35. > :26:37.little errors now and again. Stuart Bingham and on Kyren Wilson, 5-3

:26:38. > :26:42.overnight and will join it in the tenth frame, Bingham won the first

:26:43. > :26:48.of the second session. Early on in the frame.

:26:49. > :26:55.COMMENTATOR: The interesting thing for me, who's played a very poor

:26:56. > :26:59.safety shot, the shot he turned down there, that's the sort of shot that

:27:00. > :27:05.Mark Williams takes on and leaves the red on the side cushion. He gets

:27:06. > :27:08.the red, he's got an easy blue. If he misses the red, he leaves

:27:09. > :27:16.nothing. I think he's missed a trick there, Stuart Bingham. As you say,

:27:17. > :27:22.poor safety. It seemed like a second thought to play safe. He didn't give

:27:23. > :27:35.enough thought to it. So careless. Might cost him the frame.

:27:36. > :27:41.Obviously you can see Stuart's reasoning behind it. Got Kyren under

:27:42. > :27:46.a lot of pressure at the moment and wants to keep things tight but you

:27:47. > :27:54.can't refuse balls when you can play a shot to nothing. Fair comment.

:27:55. > :28:01.Once he decided not to play the pot, then you have to give the other shot

:28:02. > :28:06.you're going to play due thought and consideration. Little careless lips

:28:07. > :28:10.like that and the only seem to happen at the Crucible. It's

:28:11. > :28:22.sometimes that your mind plays tricks on you.

:28:23. > :28:28.Without any shadow of doubt, the pressure is magnified here the

:28:29. > :28:33.Crucible. Because it means so much to all the players. This is the

:28:34. > :28:37.World Championship. You get one chance every year and to be

:28:38. > :28:38.perfectly honest, it means more than any of the other tournaments put

:28:39. > :28:46.together. It's the thing that every player

:28:47. > :29:12.wants on his CV. If he gives the rest back, it's

:29:13. > :29:22.amazing if he plays this red. Can he reach it? He's going for the

:29:23. > :29:27.extension. Looks OK, just got to be a little bit careful, that's all.

:29:28. > :29:38.Should be a fairly comfortable run through for the black. And no, no

:29:39. > :29:43.reason why not to go into the cluster of reds. You've got a couple

:29:44. > :29:48.of loose reds but he's not guaranteed position on them, so this

:29:49. > :29:53.is an opportunity to bring more reds into play. And again the tendency is

:29:54. > :29:56.to play with a touch of right-hand side on the shot, so he needs to

:29:57. > :30:03.make sure he doesn't hit it thick with power. Played it well, decided

:30:04. > :30:10.not to go into the reds with too much pace. If he's not on this red

:30:11. > :30:13.he's been very, very unlucky. I think he's not on it. I think he's

:30:14. > :30:19.stuck to the pink. You can usually tell by looking at

:30:20. > :30:37.the player's body language. Maybe he is just on it. Well, John,

:30:38. > :30:39.he missed an easy red into the right-hand black pocket yesterday.

:30:40. > :30:44.Playing a similar shot with a touch of sight and he's played that very

:30:45. > :30:47.well. The shot that he missed yesterday in similar circumstances,

:30:48. > :30:54.when he caught another red first actually cost the 6-0 lead. Saw one

:30:55. > :31:09.of those frames that could turn the match.

:31:10. > :32:07.Played up nicely. -- played it nicely.

:32:08. > :32:14.The time to that one nicely. Very important to get it right on the

:32:15. > :32:34.blue. -- he timed that one nicely. That's very well played. He did have

:32:35. > :32:38.a loose red. He decided to go into the cluster. It is not ideal, to be

:32:39. > :32:49.perfectly honest, the way the pink and black finished. So he needs to

:32:50. > :33:07.get on the pink on a good angle to get back for the following red.

:33:08. > :33:18.It isn't obvious which red he can play for here. If the pink is not

:33:19. > :33:23.possible he may play a cannon into the cluster. But he would have to

:33:24. > :33:31.inject a lot of pace into the cue ball. But that is where he played.

:33:32. > :33:39.It worked out nicely. I was holding my breath with the red going near

:33:40. > :33:46.the middle. But he has played that well. And to be honest, John, he did

:33:47. > :33:50.look for a plant there. And there was a plant which was close to go

:33:51. > :33:54.into the middle. He did not look at that before he played the pink. Yes,

:33:55. > :33:57.he would have been unlucky if he had played the red in the middle, but

:33:58. > :34:03.you could also argue it would have been careless because as we could

:34:04. > :34:12.see, on the last shot, it was close to being a plant.

:34:13. > :34:19.He may even have reversed it off-line, John. In other words, you

:34:20. > :34:30.were saying he has no need to play the cannon. Anyway, that little

:34:31. > :34:37.scare over. He's played that nicely. It was two reds to the right centre.

:34:38. > :34:39.Only a couple of reds, and a couple of colours away from victory in this

:34:40. > :35:09.frame. Now you see the difference. 62

:35:10. > :35:13.ahead, 75 remaining. This has been a very impressive contribution from

:35:14. > :35:22.Wilson. Under tremendous pressure. Having seen a 5-0 lead slip. Bring

:35:23. > :35:32.on -- Stuart Bingham regaining his composure to come back. It has been

:35:33. > :35:36.very impressive. Yes, and as far as Stuart Bingham is concerned, he will

:35:37. > :35:41.be sacked there seeding. He decided not to take on a difficult pot. He

:35:42. > :35:49.played the safety. He hasn't played many worse safety shots than he did.

:35:50. > :35:51.And he has been sat down ever since. That is how cruel this game can be

:35:52. > :36:12.sometimes. Isn't this game both amazing and

:36:13. > :36:16.wonderful, John? He could go on to make a century year. All of the

:36:17. > :36:20.disappointment about perhaps throwing away a lead will go

:36:21. > :36:28.completely. His confidence will be restored. He will be back in the

:36:29. > :36:39.ascendancy. Amazing. Yeah, and all it takes is one shot. Just overran.

:36:40. > :36:41.It's not nothing. He can get through. Further than I thought.

:36:42. > :36:49.Still a possible century there. APPLAUSE

:36:50. > :37:33.He played that nicely. This black, his first century of the

:37:34. > :37:39.tournament. 31st of the championship. There you go, Wilson,

:37:40. > :38:00.105. It is a strange game in many ways.

:38:01. > :38:06.Stuart Bingham won the first frame. Got within one frame after beating

:38:07. > :38:13.5-0 behind. But he played a very poor safety shot. And, as Peter

:38:14. > :38:16.says, hasn't gone in. He missed the brown. But he made a century in the

:38:17. > :38:23.tournament. And that will give him the confidence to push on. He now

:38:24. > :38:27.leads by 6-4. Good stuff from Wilson. That much continues on the

:38:28. > :38:32.BBC sport website and BBC sport app. This is the scene at the Crucible in

:38:33. > :38:34.Sheffield. They are on a mid-session interval on that table. But our live

:38:35. > :38:55.match this afternoon is Ding Wenbo. COMMENTATOR: Ding breaks in this

:38:56. > :39:08.frame. This is to see who has the lead going into the second session.

:39:09. > :39:14.Long pot success for Junhui. Not quite what it was in the first

:39:15. > :39:21.round. Safety success, Ding has dominated so far. Having two

:39:22. > :39:32.centuries, he has dominated the highest breaks, as well.

:39:33. > :39:41.Wenbo did not want the double kiss, so he has left the choice of two

:39:42. > :39:47.reds. And neither of them are easy. The one to the right middle is the

:39:48. > :39:51.one that is least risky. The one he is looking at now, on the black, he

:39:52. > :40:20.must fully commit to that. Because if he misses it...

:40:21. > :40:26.We have been talking about balls going high of the pocket. But that

:40:27. > :40:40.one was never in, that one. The chance. -- good chance. Not leaving

:40:41. > :40:43.the cue ball there, though. The only good thing about this is he has a

:40:44. > :40:49.perfectly good angle to drop onto the red in the far right corner.

:40:50. > :40:56.Just concentrate 100% on the pot. Bound to be on the red. Got to keep

:40:57. > :41:02.very still on these shots. No, there was definite movement there. If you

:41:03. > :41:12.get movement, you put side on the cue ball, and that is what happens.

:41:13. > :41:17.He hit it too hard, didn't he? He was probably worried about playing

:41:18. > :41:23.the black like you did when he missed it a couple of frames ago --

:41:24. > :41:28.like he did when he missed a couple of frames ago. He has to think about

:41:29. > :41:29.damage limitation. He has got to get out of this situation no worse than

:41:30. > :41:47.5-3. If you are under pressure when you

:41:48. > :41:51.are 5-3 down. I was talking about these mini sessions of four frames

:41:52. > :41:53.in a long match. When Bo knows he would have to win all four to have a

:41:54. > :42:06.lead himself. -- -- Wenbo knows he would have to win

:42:07. > :42:12.all four to have a lead himself. That is the pressure on a little

:42:13. > :42:19.bit. When Ding get in early on a frame and the colours are open,

:42:20. > :42:30.straightaway you would say it looks pretty ominous. The red he is

:42:31. > :42:42.looking at right now, will he stay on the black? No, he is going to

:42:43. > :42:47.come around and go for the blue. If he was in the club, practising, he

:42:48. > :42:50.would have put the red in, screw into the events, and leave himself

:42:51. > :42:57.the black into the right corner -- screw into the reds, and leave

:42:58. > :43:10.himself the black into the right corner. Ding is working very closely

:43:11. > :43:14.with Terry Griffiths now. You spent many years with Terry. He will help

:43:15. > :43:17.him mentally, without a doubt. I'm not sure he will help him in the

:43:18. > :43:20.break building department, but maybe that one thing we've talked about in

:43:21. > :43:28.commentary is temperament. Somebody like Terry can help. Yes. Terry's

:43:29. > :43:32.influence, no doubt, is in the dressing room. Just tell him how he

:43:33. > :43:49.is feeling out there. It is very helpful to have somebody

:43:50. > :43:51.in your corner who has been there, knows what it feels like knows what

:43:52. > :44:00.you are going through. In the arena. Lowestoft is the most

:44:01. > :52:17.easterly point of our islands. Every morning the sun hits

:52:18. > :52:21.this bit of the country first. And when you actually get out here,

:52:22. > :52:28.you want to go out and greet the sun! Since the 1970s,

:52:29. > :52:52.11 piers have been lost completely. While others, like Lowestoft's

:52:53. > :52:58.Claremont pier, still struggle on. Hello, David!

:52:59. > :53:07.Can we go inside your pier? How many generations has

:53:08. > :53:11.it been in your family? A real responsibility!

:53:12. > :53:16.Huge responsibility! Surely these machines make sackloads

:53:17. > :53:20.of money? Not bags of money, Mark. What was this pier like

:53:21. > :53:43.in its Edwardian heyday? I mean, obviously a sense of

:53:44. > :53:47.occasion coming on to a pier. Everyone dressed smartly.

:53:48. > :53:50.There were theatres. Punters promenading up and down?

:53:51. > :53:53.Yes, absolutely packed! Coming down to take the steamer

:53:54. > :53:56.off the end there. Obviously it used to be

:53:57. > :53:59.a lot longer than it is now. With a T-piece on the end

:54:00. > :54:03.as well to moor up against. I can show you some old

:54:04. > :54:06.archive photographs. The steamer would stop off on the

:54:07. > :54:11.way to London and ferry people back. It wasn't just a pleasure pier?

:54:12. > :54:14.It had a commercial function? Like the Victorian equivalent

:54:15. > :54:31.of an airport. They were arrival points for

:54:32. > :54:35.passengers visiting the seaside. But unlike an airport,

:54:36. > :54:42.piers combined function with fun! No self-respecting seaside resort

:54:43. > :54:55.could be without one. In the 50 years between

:54:56. > :54:59.1860 and 1910, 78 piers were

:55:00. > :55:03.built around the country. The end of David's pier

:55:04. > :55:15.is now just too dangerous to walk on. a different perspective

:55:16. > :55:25.on the state of Britain's piers. where all the amusements

:55:26. > :55:31.are at the landward end, there's not much incentive for

:55:32. > :55:34.the owner perhaps to spend money. you can't get even the

:55:35. > :55:40.fishermen on there paying you money. From this angle,

:55:41. > :55:51.it's obvious to see the problems that pier owners

:55:52. > :55:54.like David Scott face. Without the revenue from paddle

:55:55. > :55:58.steamers and their passengers, over a million pounds has been spent

:55:59. > :56:15.renovating their pier - Spring is arriving -
