:00:34. > :00:39.Hello. A very good evening to you. Welcome back to the Crucible Theatre
:00:40. > :00:42.in Sheffield. All four quarter-finals of the 2017 Betfred
:00:43. > :00:48.world snooker hundredship are well under way and tonight, it's act two
:00:49. > :00:55.of the major unfolding drama between Ding Junhui and Ronnie O'Sullivan.
:00:56. > :00:59.Ronnie O'Sullivan who gets this enthralling encounter under way. I
:01:00. > :01:04.think it was so important for Ding Junhui to get off to a good start
:01:05. > :01:15.against Ronnie O'Sullivan. And he's certainly doing that. Seven
:01:16. > :01:19.centuries now for Ding Junhui. Leads Ronnie O'Sullivan. Well, what a
:01:20. > :01:30.response. He's bounced right back and won three in a row. We are all
:01:31. > :01:35.square at 3-3. Terrific stuff. Ronnie will be more pleased than
:01:36. > :01:41.Ding, they come out of the session 4-4. The five-time world champion
:01:42. > :01:48.recovering from 3-0 down to share the morning's eight frames. Reigning
:01:49. > :01:55.champion Mark Selby has a 6-2 lead over Hong Kong's Marco Fu. John
:01:56. > :02:00.Higgins leads Kyren Wilson 5-3 and another Englishman leads Scotland's
:02:01. > :02:04.Stephen Maguire 5-3. You can really feel the tension this evening in the
:02:05. > :02:09.Crucible. Steve Davis, good evening to you. Ding Junhui got off to a
:02:10. > :02:12.great start and he'll be kicking himself to allow Ronnie back in?
:02:13. > :02:16.Possibly but the job has been done in establishing himself in the match
:02:17. > :02:21.and it's 4-4 with all to play for. Looking at the previous matches,
:02:22. > :02:26.both have things that count. Ronnie was very impressive against Sean
:02:27. > :02:31.Murphy and I think Ding Junhui to actually turn around that match
:02:32. > :02:36.against Liang Wenbo showed great character so it's all to play for.
:02:37. > :02:39.Ronnie's got the upper hand against Ding Junhui and how much of an
:02:40. > :02:44.impact will the past record have, given the fact that Ronnie has
:02:45. > :02:48.absolutely thumped Ding Junhui in major showpiece events? It obviously
:02:49. > :02:51.plays in his mooned but if Ding Junhui were to win this match
:02:52. > :02:54.perhaps it would be the catalyst to him going on to win the World
:02:55. > :02:58.Championship. You could argue this is the biggest match of his career
:02:59. > :03:01.in pursuit of that. It's hard to explain to viewers at home or
:03:02. > :03:05.wherever they are watching, what it's like in the Crucible when
:03:06. > :03:09.Ronnie O'Sullivan walks out here. The fans love it, they get right
:03:10. > :03:16.behind him. How difficult will it be for Ding Junhui to tackle that?
:03:17. > :03:19.Possibly it's a problem but I think Ding Junhui has warmed to the
:03:20. > :03:23.Crucible crowd and I think the people of Sheffield have warmed to
:03:24. > :03:26.him so I think he's got more support and is more comfortable in his own
:03:27. > :03:30.skin here and it won't be all one-way traffic in that department.
:03:31. > :03:34.We are all excited here. In the commentary box, it's Denis Taylor
:03:35. > :03:39.and Ken Docherty. Ken, how excited are you tonight? Very excited. Denis
:03:40. > :03:44.and I are in the commentary box, you can feel the atmosphere and the
:03:45. > :03:48.tension and anticipation from the crowd and Denis, you commentated on
:03:49. > :03:55.the frames today, how fantastic? I was with Stephen Hendry, it was
:03:56. > :04:00.fantastic, Ding got off to an absolute flyer, got the 128 as well.
:04:01. > :04:05.The seventh frame was a huge frame. Ronnie came back to 3-3 and he was
:04:06. > :04:09.42 in front or 43 in front. Ding could only tie. Somehow he tied the
:04:10. > :04:14.frame and won a respoted black and I suppose Ronnie will be delighted to
:04:15. > :04:18.be 4-4 but Ronnie could have won the five frames after going 3-0 down?
:04:19. > :04:22.After being 3-0 down, I was watching it myself this morning, I was
:04:23. > :04:27.fearing for Ronnie because Ding looked in crop pleat control? --
:04:28. > :04:31.complete control. He missed a sitter of a red, if he hadn't have missed
:04:32. > :04:35.that, I think he would have led 4-0 and it could have been a whole
:04:36. > :04:38.different scoreline. What about tonight for Ding? At the start it's
:04:39. > :04:44.got to be very important? He's got to get off to a good start. The fact
:04:45. > :04:47.that it's 4-4, this is going to be a fabulous session of snooker, it
:04:48. > :04:50.really is. Listen, the crowd are really up for it and even us
:04:51. > :04:54.commentators are really up for it as well, we can't wait.
:04:55. > :04:59.Thank you very much indeed. Just when you look at the tension on
:05:00. > :05:03.those faces, I wonder what is going through these players' minds knowing
:05:04. > :05:07.that this is, as you said, for Ding Junhui, a massive session? It is,
:05:08. > :05:10.and from my perspective, I know what it's like to be out there, you just
:05:11. > :05:15.can't wait to get going. The longer we are talking, the longer they are
:05:16. > :05:19.going to be waiting! John Higgins has been here before,
:05:20. > :05:23.he know Haas it's all about. We are very excited here at the Crucible.
:05:24. > :05:26.Let's say a very good evening to Rob Walker.
:05:27. > :05:30.Thanks Jason, good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the climax
:05:31. > :05:34.of day 11 at the Betfred World Snooker Championship with the
:05:35. > :05:38.resumption of the two brilliantly poised quarter-finals, we are in for
:05:39. > :05:41.an atmospheric end to Tuesday night here at the Sport's spiritual home,
:05:42. > :06:07.the Crucible. APPLAUSE.
:06:08. > :06:13.Please welcome a young player in his second successive Crucible
:06:14. > :06:17.quarter-final, finalist in India, he won the Shanghai in 2015, he's now
:06:18. > :06:24.firmly established amongst the game's elite and he'll be seriously
:06:25. > :06:33.fired up for tonight, because he is the Warrior, Kyren Wilson!
:06:34. > :06:50.And his opponent, winner of 28 ranking titles in all, without doubt
:06:51. > :06:55.one of the finest sportsmen Scotland's ever produced. Contesting
:06:56. > :06:58.this, his 12th Crucible quarter-final, after an excellent
:06:59. > :07:04.win over Mark Allen in round two, four times a champion of the world,
:07:05. > :07:10.the wizard of Wishaw, he's John Higgins!
:07:11. > :07:23.MUSIC On table one, please welcome a
:07:24. > :07:27.player who first made the quarters here 22 years ago, two decades later
:07:28. > :07:33.he's still going strong. He showed all his experience to come back from
:07:34. > :07:35.3-0 down to level the scores. Reigning Masters champion,
:07:36. > :07:44.five-times the champion of the world, blink and you will miss him,
:07:45. > :07:56.he's the Rocket, Ronnie O'Sullivan! MUSIC
:07:57. > :08:03.And finally his opponent, a player who started brilliantly this
:08:04. > :08:07.morning, two breaks over 70, a 128 and that respoted black. Runner-up
:08:08. > :08:11.last year, reigning Shanghai Masters champion and winner of 20 12 big
:08:12. > :08:13.ones in all, a national hero back home in China, so enter the Dragon,
:08:14. > :08:39.Ding Junhui! Willie Thorne and Stephen Hendry
:08:40. > :08:46.will talk you through John Higgins vKyren Wilson on the red button live
:08:47. > :08:52.here on BBC Two though Denis Taylor and Ken Doherty for Ding Junhui and
:08:53. > :09:04.Ronnie O'Sullivan. Good evening, everyone. Fascinating
:09:05. > :09:07.second session this is going to be. All that was happening in the first
:09:08. > :09:12.session Ken, one mistake and the other player was winning enough to
:09:13. > :09:23.take the frame. Yes. Very high quality session. 71, Ronnie came
:09:24. > :09:26.back with 63, 65, 69, 59 and 44, the breaks. Tough quality. What an
:09:27. > :09:46.atmosphere as well. Hand shake and smiles all around.
:09:47. > :09:53.Great respect for each other these two players.
:09:54. > :10:05.And of course Ronnie in China is almost as well-known as Ding Junhui.
:10:06. > :10:07.I mean this is a national treasure. Safe to say there'll be a few people
:10:08. > :10:30.watching it over there, I'm sure. It's quite interesting that we share
:10:31. > :10:35.what Steve said. Ding doesn't have a great record against Ronnie
:10:36. > :10:39.O'Sullivan. But what an opportunity should he win this match, you know,
:10:40. > :10:50.maybe it might be the catalyst, as Steve said. Maybe he could claim his
:10:51. > :10:58.first World Championship. He's going to have it all to do. Ronnie
:10:59. > :11:05.O'Sullivan looking in great form as indeed Ding Junhui is. It's amazing
:11:06. > :11:09.they've only played each other once in the Crucible, back in 2007 and
:11:10. > :11:12.Ronnie won that 10-2. They haven't played each other in a major
:11:13. > :11:17.competition for nearly three seasons and Ding is improving all the time
:11:18. > :11:24.so I don't think the head-to-head Ding will be worrying about that,
:11:25. > :11:36.because he's been improving and it's all about what's happening today.
:11:37. > :11:41.Opener from Ronnie O'Sullivan. Always tricky those shots, he's held
:11:42. > :11:53.it for the black into the same pocket.
:11:54. > :12:08.Straightaway, this is a terrific chance for Ronnie O'Sullivan.
:12:09. > :12:19.That wobbled its way into the pocket. Just the pace. Any harder,
:12:20. > :12:23.that was staying over the pocket. Beautiful little cannon on that red
:12:24. > :12:48.to release the other one into the same pocket.
:12:49. > :13:15.Nice angle on the black. Maybe the two reds that are close together, to
:13:16. > :13:33.the right of the main bunch. Four reds, four blacks. He'd have to
:13:34. > :13:39.swing this right around the angle. Couldn't hold for the black there.
:13:40. > :13:44.If he finishes nicely on the yellow, or the blue, he's looking at both, I
:13:45. > :13:50.mean the blue is perfect to go into the bunch. While this could really
:13:51. > :13:53.open things up, he's almost downplaying that shot, but change of
:13:54. > :14:02.plan, there is one red loose to the right of the bunch. That's what he's
:14:03. > :14:08.played for. This is the last potable red.
:14:09. > :14:15.So this is the key shot and he plays this shot so well. A lot of players
:14:16. > :14:21.will stun into the pack and the white sticks there, just watch how
:14:22. > :14:27.he plays it. Well... Oh, where's the black. Almost fluked it. Took his
:14:28. > :14:32.eye off the pot there. Unlike Ronnie. Very rarely to see him miss
:14:33. > :14:41.one off the black like that, or off the spot, rather. Concentrating so
:14:42. > :14:49.much on the power into the pack I think. Ding would love to get the
:14:50. > :14:51.black back on its spot here. That's exactly what he's played for. Hasn't
:14:52. > :14:58.played it hard enough. He's having a look at the black. He
:14:59. > :15:02.wanted it before it went down the table closer to the brown with the
:15:03. > :15:04.cue ball so if he can pot the black and take the red that's near the
:15:05. > :16:10.blue spot. Not quite sure whether the red
:16:11. > :16:19.closest to the pink spot will pot into the corner pocket. Ding just
:16:20. > :16:24.came round to have a look. He's taken this loose red. That red will
:16:25. > :16:31.certainly pot into the left centre. If he can get a nice angle after
:16:32. > :16:52.potting this black, he can't get on that red into the left centre.
:16:53. > :17:01.Now, that is a surprise. He's normally so good, Denis, on those
:17:02. > :17:05.reds into the middle pockets. I think it's because it's the first
:17:06. > :17:07.frame in the second session. Ronnie never missed one black off the spot
:17:08. > :17:27.in the first session. There wasn't too much tactical play
:17:28. > :18:22.in the opening session because it was all one-visit snooker.
:18:23. > :18:34.James Beatty on the left there and John heartson. James used to play at
:18:35. > :18:37.Sheffield and Blackburn. Gary Monk is here this evening as well, the
:18:38. > :19:43.Leeds manager. Both players just look a little edgy
:19:44. > :19:49.in this opening frame of the session. That could prove costly.
:19:50. > :19:57.Ronnie's been knocking in quite a few long ones. Well ahead of Ding in
:19:58. > :20:11.that department. It's such a key factor in the modern
:20:12. > :20:17.game who gets in with the long pots, Ken. Yes, it is. You can see lots of
:20:18. > :20:20.players, particularly in the practise round, constantly
:20:21. > :20:25.practising that type of shot that Ronnie just missed. Potting then
:20:26. > :20:27.coming off the cushion and around the angles back up for the blue or
:20:28. > :20:38.baulk colour. It's the shot that you always look
:20:39. > :20:47.for isn't it to get you in. Ronnie was quite some way away from this.
:20:48. > :20:51.Never even went near the jaws of the pocket and he'll be very
:20:52. > :21:06.disappointed with that. Such a good long Potter.
:21:07. > :21:13.He's trying to work out, as well as these other two reds, up near the
:21:14. > :21:17.blue, working out the best position to try to win the frame from this
:21:18. > :21:44.chance. Taken the opportunity to move the
:21:45. > :21:51.red that Ken mentioned, that's one red back into play. He's still got
:21:52. > :21:59.the one to the right and the one he just moved. So he's already thinking
:22:00. > :22:11.about ways of getting to that. APPLAUSE.
:22:12. > :22:18.If he could get a nice angle on the red, he could play exactly the same
:22:19. > :22:26.shot. Gone too far because the yellow didn't go into the centre of
:22:27. > :22:29.the pocket. Right side of the pocket. Because of that, he wanted
:22:30. > :22:33.to leave a nice angle on the red so he could knock the other red off the
:22:34. > :22:45.side cushion but he can't do that now. Already just got a perfect
:22:46. > :22:49.angle on the pink to pot this and come up off the cushion and bring
:22:50. > :22:56.the red. Doesn't want to hit it too hard.
:22:57. > :23:06.In's the shot that's available to Ding here -- that's the shot that's
:23:07. > :23:08.available to Ding here. Brilliant shot.
:23:09. > :23:22.APPLAUSE. Lots of noise coming from the other
:23:23. > :23:28.table, but that last shot, Well she you it again, he judged that to
:23:29. > :23:32.perfection. Couldn't have placed it any better. That was a wonderful
:23:33. > :23:57.positional shot. Once again, he potted the yellow off
:23:58. > :24:08.the right jaw, that's why he's come across a little bit too far.
:24:09. > :24:12.Should be straightforward but it would have been nice not to have to
:24:13. > :24:33.use the rest and the extension. The whole of the first session, it
:24:34. > :24:44.was one chance and the frame was over. It's been a wonderful break.
:24:45. > :24:49.He's taken these really well. It will be a bits of a blow for Ronnie
:24:50. > :24:57.O'Sullivan. Looked like he had a good chance at the start of the
:24:58. > :25:06.frame, then of course that long red. It doesn't matter about this black.
:25:07. > :25:12.And he started the way he started the opening session with a break of
:25:13. > :25:17.63, Ding Junhui back into the lead at 5-4.
:25:18. > :25:23.Looked like Ronnie O'Sullivan came steaming out of the blocks, Steve?
:25:24. > :25:29.Hit a brick wall, missed a couple of shots and missed what he'll be
:25:30. > :25:32.considering is quite a disappointing, quite a distance away
:25:33. > :25:36.from this. Sometimes when Ronnie's long game has not been in place,
:25:37. > :25:41.he's not been happiest around the table. Ding Junhui played a great
:25:42. > :25:46.shot there, he repeated it later on, that escape to get the red off the
:25:47. > :25:50.cushion, wonderful shot, wonderfully weighted shot as well, he didn't
:25:51. > :25:54.blast it. He knew if he connected properly, he'd push it over the
:25:55. > :25:58.pocket. That's a good start for Ding Junhui. Is Ding looking comfortable?
:25:59. > :26:03.I think perhaps that scare in the last round's calmed him down.
:26:04. > :26:10.Especially for a big match against Ronnie O'Sullivan. As we said at the
:26:11. > :26:15.top of the show, he's given Ding a few pummellings over the years.
:26:16. > :26:21.Perhaps there are a few mental scars on the heal and perhaps this is the
:26:22. > :26:25.time to do it. Ronnie looks nervous. You don't know what the players do
:26:26. > :26:29.on their time off in matches. That is the biggest problem to some
:26:30. > :26:32.degree, how you fill your time and, can you keep focussed, but also
:26:33. > :26:36.relaxed in-between matches. Every player does it a different way,
:26:37. > :26:40.perhaps that's the one part of the World Championship that Ronnie's not
:26:41. > :26:46.got right. 5-4, back to Denis and Ken.
:26:47. > :27:04.I mentioned Gary Monk earlier. He's doing a fabulous job at Leeds, he
:27:05. > :27:11.did a fabulous job at Swansea. Smashing fella. First time at the
:27:12. > :27:13.Crucible. He'll be enjoying it. And John Hartsson, t the first time he's
:27:14. > :27:28.been here too. Again not as close to the pocket as
:27:29. > :27:32.he would have liked. As well as a possible plant in the bottom right
:27:33. > :28:01.hand corner, the red's come over to left middle.
:28:02. > :28:11.Love to get on the red just above the black to the left.
:28:12. > :28:19.I don't think he can get on that red from this position. He may elect to
:28:20. > :28:24.try to take a couple of reds that are just right of the pink. That's
:28:25. > :29:17.why he's coming this side of the table.
:29:18. > :29:24.He's already looking at the shot that Ken mentioned there.
:29:25. > :29:32.And he can take that red and leave the black and then maybe get that
:29:33. > :29:42.red to the right of the black out of the way also.
:29:43. > :29:47.APPLAUSE. I think if he screws it back, that
:29:48. > :30:09.red's OK, if not, he can follow through and nudge the red.
:30:10. > :30:29.is a 21. It is almost a carbon copy of the first session, Ken. Will be
:30:30. > :30:32.interesting to see what he can do here, he has a wonderful angle to go
:30:33. > :30:40.into the pack but a couple of loose red are open and available. Decide
:30:41. > :30:50.to go into the pack of reds, now, how does this look? By that facial
:30:51. > :30:53.expression, not very good. He hit well enough a three quarters pink
:30:54. > :31:06.ball and he deserved to be on something there. Very unfortunate.
:31:07. > :31:10.They have had 144 pots each, incredible. Tier they had been going
:31:11. > :31:23.at a very good paster, average frame time of 15.5 minutes. The average
:31:24. > :31:26.shots time is 19 seconds for Ronnie O'Sullivan and 21 seconds for a Ding
:31:27. > :31:49.Junhui, certainly not messing around.
:31:50. > :31:58.The red he played has gone near the left corner pocket. Just looking at
:31:59. > :32:02.the angle he will have to get this because there is no easy path back
:32:03. > :32:09.down the table so it is a must pots, isn't it? That does add pressure. It
:32:10. > :32:13.is not like you are playing a shot to nothing, he will be going into
:32:14. > :32:20.the two reds. He would feel above the black and even into the pack if
:32:21. > :32:31.he misses those. A bit of pressure on this one. Izzie on the pink? Just
:32:32. > :32:58.about. He went full-blooded for the pot, he
:32:59. > :33:01.knew he would cannon the reds and he thought he had every chance of
:33:02. > :33:49.getting a couple and he deserved to finish the pink there.
:33:50. > :33:58.What has he done here? That was a strange shot. He got up off the shot
:33:59. > :34:04.and back down again. I don't think he is hard, I think he is out of
:34:05. > :34:08.position again. He is trying to get onto the red just below the pink
:34:09. > :34:12.that parts into this bottom corner pocket. What he should have done,
:34:13. > :34:17.what you would normally do, is just play a little cannon on that red
:34:18. > :34:21.directly above the black. He sort of quick on it a little bit. He should
:34:22. > :34:24.have played the more positive shot and it has cost his position and a
:34:25. > :34:52.great chance to win the frame. Well, it is another great length of
:34:53. > :34:57.cue ball from Ronnie O'Sullivan 's safety shot but once again he has
:34:58. > :35:01.been a little bit unfortunate here, Ronnie, he has knocked this red
:35:02. > :35:07.close to this right-hand corner pocket. A similar shot to the
:35:08. > :35:21.previous long red on the opposite side. Again, pressure on this one.
:35:22. > :35:29.He is just so good. That is so good. He is unlucky he is not on matte
:35:30. > :35:33.black, but what a shot. I mean, the cueing is just superb. He put
:35:34. > :35:59.everything into the pot and this time no colour.
:36:00. > :36:04.I mentioned this morning about Ronnie having a new tip put on the
:36:05. > :36:21.cue after the Shaun Murphy match. Les. Came over from Southport. He
:36:22. > :36:27.has a club over there and he used to be professional and Ronnie has him
:36:28. > :36:31.working on the tips. He decided he wasn't happy with the tip that was
:36:32. > :36:40.on solos came over on Sunday and put a new tip on for him. -- Les came
:36:41. > :36:49.over on Sunday and put a new tip on for him. List the long pot this
:36:50. > :37:12.time. Is he going to stick it up? I think he is.
:37:13. > :37:20.A loose red right up the pack. A couple of threads above the black
:37:21. > :37:24.spot as well our pot of also plenty of options here for Ronnie. That was
:37:25. > :37:49.nicely played. Every frame he has one so far, I
:37:50. > :38:03.mentioned earlier, he has won with one visit. Can he do the same here?
:38:04. > :38:10.A lovely little cannon on the reds. This would look like his most
:38:11. > :38:18.difficult pot along this top cushion. He has to give this red a
:38:19. > :38:32.little bit of respect. He played it well.
:38:33. > :38:43.Look at that statistic there, tournament total points. 2951 for
:38:44. > :38:55.Ding and 2954 for Ronnie O'Sullivan. They are so close.
:38:56. > :39:03.Quite clever, Ronnie taking the pink here. It will go up onto the brown
:39:04. > :39:08.spot but that will of course release the red that is close to the pink
:39:09. > :39:16.and in a portable position so Allred 's close to the open. Leo had his
:39:17. > :39:19.ball marker but Ronnie... You can't ask beforehand if the spot is
:39:20. > :39:44.available or not, you just have to use your judgment.
:39:45. > :39:50.This is lovely to watch. Two of the game 's great boat builders and
:39:51. > :40:05.probably the greatest at the table at the moment. Ding had a couple of
:40:06. > :40:09.chances in this frame already. It is like two boxers, isn't it, going
:40:10. > :40:16.round for round, this is a good response from Ronnie if he can win
:40:17. > :40:20.this game in this visit. He never looks like getting a chance after a
:40:21. > :40:28.couple of good long pots from Ding Junhui earlier on in the frame. But
:40:29. > :40:41.he has responded to a bit of pressure.
:40:42. > :40:48.It is, he doesn't want to get too close to that brown. Is it rocked
:40:49. > :40:54.back? Izzy on the green? It looks like years but he had to stop in his
:40:55. > :41:10.tracks for a minute. Just about. That was close!
:41:11. > :41:18.It is just magnificent, isn't it? So good to watch. I commentated on all
:41:19. > :41:31.of the opening session with Stephen Hendry, and it was a delight to
:41:32. > :41:35.commentate on. What I match we have in store here. A fantastic frame
:41:36. > :41:40.from Ronnie O'Sullivan and it clinches the frame. Ding had a
:41:41. > :41:47.couple of chances that he should have combated but he didn't. Ronnie
:41:48. > :41:50.O'Sullivan obliged and it is 5-5. Ken is right, you don't give those
:41:51. > :41:54.opportunities to Ronnie O'Sullivan. If you want to get in touch with us
:41:55. > :41:58.on social media we would love your comments and your questions for
:41:59. > :42:02.Steve Davis this evening. Any questions about your game or about
:42:03. > :42:09.this match or who is going to win the title as well? As Ken says,
:42:10. > :42:12.don't give those chances to Ronnie. No, he doesn't usually need that
:42:13. > :42:17.many. Perhaps no clues as to yet who is going to unlock this match. Both
:42:18. > :42:21.players making a couple of errors, once in amongst the balls. The key
:42:22. > :42:25.to modern-day snooker is how many times you can actually make a
:42:26. > :42:29.frame-winning visit to the table from the off, and don't let shop
:42:30. > :42:30.owner back at the table. It doesn't mean to say it will always be like
:42:31. > :42:45.that but the more times you can do that, the better.
:42:46. > :42:47.That was very different to the morning session because we actually
:42:48. > :42:50.had that with Ding Junhui getting to the table and finishing the frame
:42:51. > :42:53.and one visit and there is not much then that Ronnie O'Sullivan can do.
:42:54. > :42:55.If you start to become that relentlessly become a problem and a
:42:56. > :42:58.headache to your opponent but I do not know how this will pan out. It
:42:59. > :43:02.is not that they are both wary of each other at all, it is just that
:43:03. > :43:05.as yet we have not got a player that has totally taken off in this
:43:06. > :43:09.session. It is very early as well, and eight frame session so perhaps
:43:10. > :43:27.all you could hope to do is win it 5-3. A few nights ago I was here
:43:28. > :43:31.with Ken clear that the Neil Robertson Marco Fu match would go
:43:32. > :43:34.the distance. It was tit for tat and I suppose in a way, given what was
:43:35. > :43:37.at stake, we could be on for the same sort of match. It seems that
:43:38. > :43:40.way, doesn't it? Unless one of them has an aberration and drops off the
:43:41. > :43:43.face of form so to speak we could be in for a grandstand finish and said
:43:44. > :43:46.the last session, second session finish. Then becomes a little bit of
:43:47. > :43:48.a lottery on who has the biggest heart. We nobody O'Sullivan doesn't
:43:49. > :43:51.falter under pressure. He is a great front runner and a great under
:43:52. > :43:57.pressure but also Ding Junhui is coming to the fore in that respect
:43:58. > :44:03.as well. Ken, we were talking about what a session it was with the Neil
:44:04. > :44:07.Robertson and Marco Fu. Yes, we have had so many good matches in this
:44:08. > :44:12.championship and this is shaping up to be another classic. Another good
:44:13. > :44:16.long putt from Ding Junhui. It is a interesting point that Steve was
:44:17. > :44:22.saying in the studio there. Ronnie O'Sullivan is well-known for being
:44:23. > :44:25.able to clear up and cope with the pressure but Ding Junhui, if the
:44:26. > :44:31.chance comes to Ding, I don't think he will bottle it. No, he is faced
:44:32. > :44:48.with a medium length blue. He had a fabulous win against his
:44:49. > :44:57.fellow countrymen on a deciding frame. I mean, this would be great
:44:58. > :45:00.if it went all the way, but you just deal with these two players that one
:45:01. > :45:08.of them is just going to grab hold of it and have a run of two or three
:45:09. > :45:30.frames. At the moment there is nothing to pick between them.
:45:31. > :45:39.I am just talking about breaks. The century break spat Ding Junhui has
:45:40. > :45:50.made, 347 and he only turned professional in 2003. He is the
:45:51. > :46:00.leading century maker in this years BetFred world with seven. He has
:46:01. > :46:04.made 49 centuries at the Crucible. Incredible. One of the best scorers
:46:05. > :46:26.that we have ever seen in the game. He has made a maximum six times as
:46:27. > :46:34.well in competition. It is just his cue ball control that is so good. He
:46:35. > :46:40.makes every shot so easy when he is in the right form. It is so
:46:41. > :46:50.important when you break-building, just control of that cue ball. It
:46:51. > :47:00.just takes hours and hours and hours of practice. Which a lot of the
:47:01. > :47:01.Chinese players do. At the Academy in Sheffield they are so
:47:02. > :47:15.disciplined. I know the contract has been signed
:47:16. > :47:19.to keep the World Championship at the Crucible for another ten years.
:47:20. > :47:26.In ten years' time you might be seeing a lot of Chinese players
:47:27. > :47:33.competing at the Crucible. Now, he has been unlucky again. Unless, I
:47:34. > :47:38.was just going to say unless he could get past the pink to hit the
:47:39. > :47:44.red and not the red in that is over the pocket, it is end of break. If
:47:45. > :47:48.he can see the one past the pink to flick it onto the one over the
:47:49. > :47:52.pocket, but I don't think he can do this. This is a thin cut back end
:47:53. > :47:58.that he is looking at into the left corner. Had it dropped on a red
:47:59. > :48:11.nicely it would have been end of frame. He could not hit it much
:48:12. > :48:21.better. Oh, it is right in the centre of the pocket.
:48:22. > :48:33.Well, held for the blue. The pink will pot. He is coming around to
:48:34. > :48:39.have a look. The pink will definitely put into the left centre
:48:40. > :48:47.if he can just drop this red in. Hold for the pink.
:48:48. > :48:58.The problem is when the pink respot it is not going to be available into
:48:59. > :49:05.any pocket. He can only concentrate on the blue all the baulk colours
:49:06. > :49:12.after this. But he won't be too concerned because he only needs, he
:49:13. > :49:20.is 57 a head, he only needs a couple more rounds with high value colours,
:49:21. > :49:25.a couple of blues will do. He has overhit that one back a long way.
:49:26. > :49:30.Now, that has given him a bit of a problem now. He should have been
:49:31. > :49:36.nicely on the blue. He is 58 in front though so he is a good few
:49:37. > :49:39.points away from securing this. It is the 11th frame, a friend that
:49:40. > :49:41.could take him back into the lead again. This should have been a lot
:49:42. > :49:56.easier. He has overcut it. Oh, it just crept
:49:57. > :50:08.in. Then he has probably just overdone that slightly. Yes, just
:50:09. > :50:13.the pace, I think. Any hard and the blue was going to stay out. Now he
:50:14. > :50:15.has to negotiate the cue ball between red and black while potting
:50:16. > :50:23.this red into the right corner pocket. Back out for the blue again.
:50:24. > :50:35.This could go wrong. He has got to stay away from the red that is
:50:36. > :50:42.closest to the left corner pocket. There is a possible get round to the
:50:43. > :50:47.blue but don't forget the pot on the red. He can avoid the reds here, I
:50:48. > :50:56.think. No, he has played for the... Well... It was very, very precise to
:50:57. > :51:08.finish on the pink and it is not a gimme, this, by any means. He is 64
:51:09. > :51:18.in front, still a possible 67 on. No, he has missed it. Ding Junhui,
:51:19. > :51:21.64. The black is tied up slightly but there is enough points there.
:51:22. > :51:29.Ronnie doesn't necessarily have to take all blacks. He has three points
:51:30. > :51:32.to play with there. But he has took the chance to bring the black into
:51:33. > :51:36.play. He was always going to have the pink, that was such a clever
:51:37. > :51:42.little shot that all of a sudden, what a steal this could be. A
:51:43. > :51:46.wonderful shot, that was, very, very clever. He had to just get one
:51:47. > :51:50.quarter of the black to knock it just off the condition and is now
:51:51. > :51:55.just one good positional shot here from Ronnie O'Sullivan and he has
:51:56. > :52:00.got a great chance. This looks very good. If it misses the black, and it
:52:01. > :52:08.has done, this is perfect. What a shot he has played there. He had to
:52:09. > :52:24.play with lots of right side. This could be, as Ronnie looks at
:52:25. > :52:40.the scoreboard, one of the many turning points of this match. Ding
:52:41. > :52:43.Junhui has made a break of 64, meanwhile Ronnie just contemplates a
:52:44. > :52:55.tricky red, he just let this go and this is a little bit more difficult,
:52:56. > :53:01.the cutback. He played a very bell. -- very well. And he can just about
:53:02. > :53:08.afford the pink it. This will put him 42 points behind with a possible
:53:09. > :53:13.43 still left on the table. Oh, has he hit it... He has hit it lovely.
:53:14. > :53:17.He needs two reds and two blacks and all the colours to win by a single
:53:18. > :53:44.point. What a clearance this could prove to be.
:53:45. > :53:54.What has he done there? Goodness me. Well, Ding Company for Ronnie has
:53:55. > :54:10.just played there. That was a little lapse in
:54:11. > :54:14.concentration because out straightforward pot. In fact he
:54:15. > :54:18.concedes the frame and what a body blow that could have been for Ding
:54:19. > :54:23.Junhui. He should have cleared up. Look at the expression, that is what
:54:24. > :54:29.he thinks about it. Ding is back the lead. It 6-5.
:54:30. > :54:32.Amazing. We were looking at that unthinking, goodness me. You are so
:54:33. > :54:36.used to Ronnie O'Sullivan clearing up in situations like that and to
:54:37. > :54:39.make a basic error of putting the cue ball in a place where it is
:54:40. > :54:45.impossible to miss the final black is a little bit worrying from 's
:54:46. > :54:49.perspective. That is quite a lack of judgment in kiss of the shot,
:54:50. > :54:53.obviously playing with the rest before that for the red, but he
:54:54. > :54:57.won't be happy that all of a sudden some of the things that on occasions
:54:58. > :55:01.come naturally to him, all of a sudden they are falling to pieces.
:55:02. > :55:07.Dennis called it a lapse in concentration but is it more than
:55:08. > :55:11.that? It is a judgment of pace. You can say you put too much into
:55:12. > :55:15.potting the ball and do not put enough on the black, these shots are
:55:16. > :55:20.quite obvious for players but it is quite a misjudgement of pace. Our
:55:21. > :55:24.cameras caught Ronnie mouthing, that's horrible and it certainly
:55:25. > :55:28.was! We will go to the red button very shortly but we stay with you
:55:29. > :55:29.for the next couple of minutes and keep your red button ready. We will
:55:30. > :55:50.be there very shortly. A chance to redeem things if he can
:55:51. > :55:55.knock this in. No. Just take a little while to put that out of his
:55:56. > :56:00.mind, that last frame. All he had to do was just drop the red in and it
:56:01. > :56:07.has got to be just a little lapse in concentration, he hit it too hard. I
:56:08. > :56:11.am not quite sure why he didn't try and touch the pace by coming off the
:56:12. > :56:13.cushion because you can afford to it it a little bit harder. Meanwhile a
:56:14. > :56:23.good long red from Ding Junhui. A good pot. He held it nicely before
:56:24. > :56:37.the baulk line. Ding is one of the players who keeps
:56:38. > :56:47.his head absolutely still on the shot. A lot of players have a little
:56:48. > :56:50.bit of movement, also a lot of players keep their head still and it
:56:51. > :56:55.is a key factor, it is not all about that, it is all about delivering the
:56:56. > :56:56.cue, but it does help if you keep your head still, even on a power
:56:57. > :57:54.shot. He needs to make something happen
:57:55. > :57:56.now. The pink and black are tied up and it will not be easy to score
:57:57. > :58:36.from this position. Ding Junhui, 17. We are leaving you
:58:37. > :58:41.hear on BBC Two but we are switching to the red button and you will not
:58:42. > :58:44.make is a shot for this match with Ding Junhui against Ronnie
:58:45. > :58:48.O'Sullivan. Meanwhile on the sport website and applicant flick between
:58:49. > :58:54.the two tables with John Higgins against Kyren Wilson and we're back
:58:55. > :59:02.with highlights of today's play of the BetFred World Championship 20s
:59:03. > :59:04.17 at 11:15pm on BBC Two and 11:45pm in Northern
:59:05. > :59:14.As your wife, I don't like who you've become.
:59:15. > :59:18.Do you believe in your dreams? No, sire.
