:00:40. > :00:48.The World Championship to me and every snooker player I suppose, just

:00:49. > :00:55.means to be world champion. It's a title everybody wants to win, every

:00:56. > :00:58.player striving to win that title. Being world number one is a great

:00:59. > :01:03.feeling and definitely one of my goals starting out, to become world

:01:04. > :01:10.number one and world champion, if I could achieve that, I would be happy

:01:11. > :01:13.even if I was to retire tomorrow. It's just those little fine lines

:01:14. > :01:16.which is the difference between winning and losing and the

:01:17. > :01:25.difference between a champion and not a champion. It can be like just

:01:26. > :01:31.here and there, winning or losing a match. You get out of the sport what

:01:32. > :01:38.you put in and if you don't put the hours in, that talent counts for

:01:39. > :01:43.nothing. Never say die until that last ball is potted because until

:01:44. > :01:49.that moment, you've still got a job to do. I put that waistcoat on and

:01:50. > :01:53.my name is called and I go into the arena and I make my opponent work as

:01:54. > :01:57.hard as possible. Mark Selby very much the man to

:01:58. > :02:01.beat. Good evening and welcome to the Crucible Theatre. We are

:02:02. > :02:06.celebrating 40 years of snooker at this magnificent venue and this is

:02:07. > :02:10.what it is all about. Mark Selby will be walking out in front of a

:02:11. > :02:14.packed crowd here at the Crucible in the next few minutes, looking to

:02:15. > :02:20.book his place in the second round. It's been a magnificent first day

:02:21. > :02:23.here at the 2017 Betfred World Snooker Championship. Let's bring

:02:24. > :02:27.you right up to date. The Rocket Ronnie O'Sullivan got off to his

:02:28. > :02:39.usual fast start. Not at his best but he raced into a

:02:40. > :02:43.5-1 lead. But back came the tenacious Gary Wilson on his

:02:44. > :02:48.Crucible debut. Winning the last three frames and stealing a tense

:02:49. > :02:59.final frame black with this nervous cut. And in another all English

:03:00. > :03:03.battle, the warrior, Kyren Wilson, took control early on but another

:03:04. > :03:16.fine fightback saw David Grace Paul Dummett back to 5-4. -- David Grace

:03:17. > :03:20.polled the match back to 5-4. Anthony McGill had upset the fellow

:03:21. > :03:24.Scott Stephen Maguire on his Crucible debut two years ago.

:03:25. > :03:35.Maguire came roaring back, winning the last five frames to lead 7-2.

:03:36. > :03:40.And world number one Mark Selby got the defence of his title off to a

:03:41. > :03:47.flyer. Stunning cue control and shot selection so he raced to 8-0 lead.

:03:48. > :03:50.His opponent avoided the dreaded whitewash by pinching the final

:03:51. > :03:55.frame but Mark Selby in total control of this one. Live action

:03:56. > :04:00.coming up on BBC Two. We are with you throughout the evening on the

:04:01. > :04:05.red button. Do not go anywhere. Ken Doherty knows what it's like to lift

:04:06. > :04:09.that magnificent trophy at this wonderful venue. We have a packed

:04:10. > :04:13.crowd into night. What is it like coming back as the reigning world

:04:14. > :04:19.champion and the weight of expectation on your shoulders?

:04:20. > :04:26.There is a lot of pressure and Mark Selby will want to put in a good

:04:27. > :04:28.performance. He is world number one and he is guaranteed that

:04:29. > :04:35.anti-platelet medicine need this morning against Fergal O'Brien. I

:04:36. > :04:41.felt bad for my old pal and it was tough but Mark Selby is in very good

:04:42. > :04:44.form. Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, Ronnie O'Sullivan, they have all

:04:45. > :04:49.come back to the Crucible Theatre and retain their title. Is that

:04:50. > :04:52.something that troubles Mark Selby? I don't think so, I think he will

:04:53. > :04:58.relish the opportunity to have that problem. He is a very determined

:04:59. > :05:03.character. He is the man to beat at this Championship. Just won the

:05:04. > :05:07.China Open a couple of weeks ago so he has Camille Lecointre lot of form

:05:08. > :05:11.and confidence. I think the fact that when he has his hands on the

:05:12. > :05:15.trophy twice already, the pressure is on but he wants to win it again

:05:16. > :05:18.and again and be up there with the likes of John Higgins, Ronnie

:05:19. > :05:24.O'Sullivan and Stephen Hendry and all the greats who won it multiple

:05:25. > :05:29.times. On the radio this morning, they were chatting about snooker.

:05:30. > :05:35.Judd Trump was fancied this year. Is this his year? It could be but there

:05:36. > :05:38.are a lot of protagonists in the drawer who have a great chance.

:05:39. > :05:43.Ronnie O'Sullivan in good form today. Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson,

:05:44. > :05:47.a whole host of players that could possibly witness but the man to beat

:05:48. > :05:57.at the moment is Mark Selby. And he is standing by. Thank you. It's the

:05:58. > :06:00.climax of Day 1 at the Betfred World Snooker Championship and by the end

:06:01. > :06:06.of tonight, two players will have secured their place in the second

:06:07. > :06:08.round. Will there be two big comebacks? It is showtime, here in

:06:09. > :06:33.Sheffield. CHEERING Please welcome, a five-time ranking

:06:34. > :06:38.event winner who this morning brought his form from the qualifiers

:06:39. > :06:41.right here to the Crucible. Twice a semifinalist at the World

:06:42. > :06:46.Championship, he is hungry for another massive run in Sheffield.

:06:47. > :07:05.When he is good, he is on fire, here is Stephen Maguire.

:07:06. > :07:11.And his opponent, a man who made it to the quarterfinals on a very

:07:12. > :07:16.impressive debut here two years ago. Reigning Indian Open and snooker

:07:17. > :07:20.shoot out champion, he will not be intimidated tonight. Hoping to draw

:07:21. > :07:21.on those legendary nerves of steel, the smiling assassin, Anthony

:07:22. > :07:45.McGill. And on table one, the player who has

:07:46. > :07:50.made it back to the Crucible for the first time in seven years. After a

:07:51. > :07:55.two our three minute epic deciding frame-winner with David Gilbert, he

:07:56. > :07:59.now faces a huge task tonight but he will come out determined to show his

:08:00. > :08:21.class. He is the Marathon man, Fergal O'Brien.

:08:22. > :08:28.And finally, a player returning to the Crucible at the end of a season

:08:29. > :08:32.in which he has added another four ranking titles to his collection.

:08:33. > :08:35.Reigning UK and China Open Championship he has been world

:08:36. > :08:39.number one for more than 100 consecutive weeks. The defending

:08:40. > :09:00.world champion, the Jester from Leicester, Mark Selby.

:09:01. > :09:08.Huge cheers for the reigning world champion Mark Selby. That's our live

:09:09. > :09:11.match on BBC Two. Selby versus Fergal O'Brien. If you want Anthony

:09:12. > :09:18.McGill against Stephen Maguire, that is available on your red button. In

:09:19. > :09:22.the company of Dennis Taylor and Peter Ebdon. Live on BBC Two, let's

:09:23. > :09:34.say good evening to you John Virgo and Steve Davis. JOHN VIRGO: Fergal

:09:35. > :10:02.O'Brien as we say has the proverbial mountain to climb.

:10:03. > :10:09.Fergal O'Brien didn't get that many chances early on in the match and

:10:10. > :10:19.you feel he needed a good start. He didn't get that. He was down at 70%

:10:20. > :10:25.at one stage. You need to be 90% or above.

:10:26. > :10:33.LAUGHTER There is another telling stat. A

:10:34. > :10:53.nice break for Fergal, only 32. STEVE DAVIS: He was pretty

:10:54. > :10:56.inefficient this morning, Fergal, he would be disappointed with the day.

:10:57. > :11:02.Experienced enough to know that every session can have a different

:11:03. > :11:10.outcome. But as you say, a mountain decline. -- a mountain to climb and

:11:11. > :11:14.none higher than trying to pull back a lead from our world champion, Mark

:11:15. > :11:46.Selby. You don't expect him to crumble.

:11:47. > :11:53.Pink is a fractional problem here in the escape route, should he catch it

:11:54. > :12:00.a little too thick, don't expect him to... Perhaps it will go the other

:12:01. > :12:08.side, good shot. APPLAUSE Played that with a lot of left-hand

:12:09. > :12:27.spin. I think mark can try and play this

:12:28. > :12:28.firm, come off the top cushion and try to clip a read, there are a

:12:29. > :12:48.couple there. Fergal could try to pot the brown

:12:49. > :12:58.into the top right-hand corner pocket as we look on our TV screen.

:12:59. > :13:09.It's a sort of free shot really. He is following your idea.

:13:10. > :13:22.Could get plenty should he go in. But not quite.

:13:23. > :13:30.I say a shot for nothing, it is the red at the top of the cluster that

:13:31. > :13:32.is available. Possibly Mark could pot this, leaving himself on the

:13:33. > :13:59.pink. Is there any such thing as a shot

:14:00. > :14:12.for nothing? Judging by that shot, that was a little risky. Not an

:14:13. > :14:15.ideal opening but... A couple of good positional shots and it could

:14:16. > :14:21.change things. Probably got something into the centre. Or the

:14:22. > :15:08.yellow pocket. As a last resort. The black at the moment will be

:15:09. > :15:16.available into the right corner. So he gets the brown out of the way...

:15:17. > :15:28.Of course, I'm just looking like the brown may go, the pink... If the

:15:29. > :15:32.pink spot is not available then the brown will go as close to its own

:15:33. > :15:38.spot in a direct line with the middle of the top cushion. That more

:15:39. > :15:49.or less puts the pink and brown out of commission. Needs an angle on

:15:50. > :15:56.this red which he just about has. To run through off two cushions. He

:15:57. > :16:05.could, if he gets low on this black, open up these four reds. Or at least

:16:06. > :16:16.start to open up away from the black spot.

:16:17. > :16:25.I think you would settle for that. Having said that, all the top spin

:16:26. > :16:29.and once the cue ball got put to the bed of the table, it rolled through.

:16:30. > :16:36.Does the black still go to the right corner? Is there a gap for it? If it

:16:37. > :16:44.doesn't, he still has the blue. Obviously, the black doesn't go if

:16:45. > :17:02.you play for them. Got to be said, looks very clinical,

:17:03. > :17:11.getting amongst the balls, very controlled. A sign of confidence,

:17:12. > :17:17.quickly off the mark at the start of every session. The black doesn't go,

:17:18. > :17:21.I don't think, but it's tight. The way those two reds now are, he can

:17:22. > :17:23.play them before he plays the black. If he gets a nice position. On the

:17:24. > :17:38.blue. He has come down for the blue. I

:17:39. > :17:44.don't think he will risk the cannon. He would love to get on the red

:17:45. > :17:58.that's just above him and to the right of the black.

:17:59. > :18:15.That looks about inch perfect to me. 71, the target. That is when snooker

:18:16. > :18:20.'s will required. He has come out tonight and he looks a lot sharper.

:18:21. > :18:24.He did have a good start earlier on today but he wasn't winning frames

:18:25. > :18:29.in one visit necessarily. He was feeding off a few mistakes from

:18:30. > :18:31.Fergal. But this is a bit more like the mark Selby we have been seeing

:18:32. > :18:49.most of the season. I also feel that people are making

:18:50. > :18:52.him favourite because you feel the longer matches suit him probably as

:18:53. > :18:58.much of anyone in the game at the moment. I think he is so much in

:18:59. > :19:05.control of his game, his cue action and control of the cue ball, he

:19:06. > :19:10.starts off a session, maybe in top gear but maybe not but by the end,

:19:11. > :19:14.he has built up a head of steam and he's like a juggernaut and it's

:19:15. > :19:20.really tough to stop it by then, he's really in the groove. As all

:19:21. > :19:25.the top players, when they are playing their best, every time they

:19:26. > :19:28.settled down on a shot, the same preparation, cue action exactly the

:19:29. > :19:48.same every time. Robotic. And now just looking for one more

:19:49. > :19:55.red and a colour. The red will put him 67 points in front. If he gets

:19:56. > :20:04.the colour, you think there is no way back to the table for Fergal.

:20:05. > :20:15.Fergal tried to be positive on that brown rather than...

:20:16. > :20:30.He has been punished severely. It was your idea as well.

:20:31. > :20:40.You'd have got the brown, though! This is the highest break of the

:20:41. > :20:56.match. Certainly don't criticise Fergal for

:20:57. > :20:58.playing the free ball because a high break prize, Fergal probably

:20:59. > :21:03.thinking he will be knocked out, could make a break bigger than a 147

:21:04. > :21:10.with that free ball, always a possibility.

:21:11. > :21:15.Only had one century. So far in the Championship. That was Ronnie

:21:16. > :21:31.O'Sullivan. A red and a black and we will see

:21:32. > :22:06.our second. That cost him the frame. Mark Selby

:22:07. > :22:14.notice one frame away from a place in the second round.

:22:15. > :22:21.Welcomed by the way to our brand-new studio for our evening sessions. We

:22:22. > :22:26.will be live with you some evenings from 7pm but throughout the evening

:22:27. > :22:30.every night on the red button from this venue. It's great because we've

:22:31. > :22:39.got the players practising. Marco Fu is there. You just put him off his

:22:40. > :22:52.shot! IMHO he had played it! Mark Selby in imperious form. Yes, a good

:22:53. > :22:57.round. Mark Selby, fantastic. He is in complete control as Steve Davis

:22:58. > :23:01.said, of his cue action. Coming in on really good form and he looks

:23:02. > :23:07.very good. When we look at him on our big screen, he looks much more

:23:08. > :23:13.composed and happier. Do you remember when he won the world title

:23:14. > :23:19.and then came back and lost Anthony McGill. He didn't look in the zone

:23:20. > :23:23.that year. He was a first time winner, coming back as defending

:23:24. > :23:27.champion and nobody has done it. That made him very nervous. He was

:23:28. > :23:34.quite open about that. Looks a lot more confident and in control of his

:23:35. > :23:40.emotions. He's playing very well the moment. He is going to be tough to

:23:41. > :23:46.beat. But he is in a tough half of the draw, very top-heavy. But he

:23:47. > :23:47.will be the man to beat so far. Yes and he is looking for an early

:23:48. > :23:56.finish. JOHN VIRGO: Once again, he just went

:23:57. > :24:16.off the jury if I'm being picky. He had a chance to go into the pack

:24:17. > :24:17.off the green but where these open reds are situated, there is no need

:24:18. > :24:31.for that. He has got that red below the pack

:24:32. > :24:39.that he can use to pot and open the reds at the same time. That seems to

:24:40. > :24:47.be the shot of choice now. He has played, I think, deliberately low on

:24:48. > :24:51.this. But perhaps it's a bit too straight to do too much damage to

:24:52. > :25:02.the pack but he will be screwing back perhaps for the blue. Yes, for

:25:03. > :25:09.the pink. But, I think he wanted a bit more on that. I think it is

:25:10. > :25:16.coming more and more into the game. When you go into a cluster as it is

:25:17. > :25:21.now, you smashed into it, you always trust it but if you can put a red

:25:22. > :25:25.and knock a few out, you are more in control of the situation. Yes and

:25:26. > :25:28.then maybe take a position on the colour so now he has to get the

:25:29. > :25:34.correct angle on the colour. It is more difficult. The blue is a

:25:35. > :25:42.possibility, could spread the reds open and win the match. He is a bit

:25:43. > :25:49.straight on that to generate too much power. Straight into the pack.

:25:50. > :25:52.He's got to belt this if he is playing straight in. Nice effort,

:25:53. > :26:03.got to trust luck now. He could have done with a better

:26:04. > :26:13.angle than the one he had. You don't really get the pace in the cue ball.

:26:14. > :26:18.You need to do it full in the face. You also don't get that much back

:26:19. > :26:22.spin. By the time the cue ball hits the pink. Playing the double.

:26:23. > :26:42.Speculative double in the middle. I'm not going to wonder if he had

:26:43. > :26:46.played that read, perhaps try to get on the blue, whether it would have

:26:47. > :26:49.worked out better. He was right behind the shot he knew. I think he

:26:50. > :27:06.was a bit straight for that. It would appear that Fergal didn't

:27:07. > :27:18.play the pot. If he did, he was a long way out. It begs the question,

:27:19. > :27:22.if not, why not? They are always semi-shots to nothing. That was an

:27:23. > :27:27.excellent shot from Selby, guaranteed position on the black.

:27:28. > :27:55.Doesn't look like any damage done. You don't get many frames in the

:27:56. > :27:58.modern-day game that happen where all the reds are pushed into the

:27:59. > :28:06.Baltic area of the table, used to be a lot more cagey safety at one stage

:28:07. > :28:24.but as we speak, its safety to the top cushion.

:28:25. > :28:31.And with these shots, there is with a premium on getting the cue ball

:28:32. > :28:35.tyke on cushion. To stop your opponents screwing back to the same

:28:36. > :28:43.position. Fergal has spotted something else. He's got a shot to

:28:44. > :28:55.nothing of his own, a cut into the middle pocket. You see the path of

:28:56. > :28:57.the cue ball, it was worth the risk. He's got to take some risks, no

:28:58. > :29:23.doubt. He did play the pot. Mark bringing all the reds into

:29:24. > :29:30.play. Not a bad cue ball. Fergal hasn't had a look at this red to the

:29:31. > :29:38.right middle even though it is a very difficult one. He hasn't even

:29:39. > :29:45.got around to see if that goes. Played an excellent safety shop, is

:29:46. > :29:49.it tight? Once again on our TV screens, this reds to the left

:29:50. > :29:53.middle looks like, why don't you go for it? It looks really easy but

:29:54. > :29:59.because the table is shortened on the TV screen, it is more of a cue

:30:00. > :30:06.angle into the middle pocket. Unless you've got a very big TV screen! But

:30:07. > :30:11.I don't know, if he can't get to that red, he may be forcing him to

:30:12. > :30:23.play that. That's an excellent cue ball. Will

:30:24. > :30:38.Fergal be tempted? This does look like a frame from the

:30:39. > :30:43.past. Rarely does this happen these days. Players tend to be more

:30:44. > :30:55.speculative in their attacking shots. Fergal slightly old school in

:30:56. > :31:03.terms of shots. Mark Selby perhaps playing a more modern game. Fergal

:31:04. > :31:04.an old dog in the game and has learned some new tricks, that's for

:31:05. > :31:21.certain. When we had that wonderful tribute

:31:22. > :31:28.to all the champions last night, the 40th anniversary. I was relaying the

:31:29. > :31:33.stort that Patsy Fegan and when we first came here in '77. We had never

:31:34. > :31:39.played in a two-table situation. We sat at the back and there was hardly

:31:40. > :31:45.anyone in the audience. We watched Fred Davis play Eddie Charlton.

:31:46. > :31:49.Eddie Charlton was 16 in front with fewer remaining. Fred Davis ended up

:31:50. > :31:54.winning the frame. He didn't make a break over ten. Going red, black,

:31:55. > :32:00.safety, knock a red out. It was unbelievable.

:32:01. > :32:17.An they said it wouldn't catch on. Tactical snookers are an interesting

:32:18. > :32:18.beast. Fergal's frame to get through to the Crucible took more or less

:32:19. > :32:21.two hours. I happened to be watching on

:32:22. > :32:38.Facebook live. Everybody was moaning and saying it

:32:39. > :32:43.was disgraceful snooker, for some reason. By the end of the match,

:32:44. > :32:47.there were 2,000 people instead of the 1,000 that started. Where's the

:32:48. > :32:53.cue ball going? That could be the end.

:32:54. > :32:59.Fergal didn't expect the cue ball to be anywhere near that corner pocket.

:33:00. > :33:13.He will be expecting to shake hands now with Mark Selby.

:33:14. > :33:19.Just talking about deciding frames, we don't like to talk about 1985 in

:33:20. > :33:24.your company, but that was a long frame, wasn't it? I think 70

:33:25. > :33:32.minutes. Obviously 120 minutes is another story.

:33:33. > :33:36.You wouldn't have minded if it had lasted! If you'd have come out on

:33:37. > :34:00.top. Not clear-cut chance obviously to

:34:01. > :34:02.wrap up the frame. Quite a lot of reds in awkward positions to get

:34:03. > :34:11.over the line. You expect the top players to keep

:34:12. > :34:44.the breaks going. He's been cueing so nicely. Didn't

:34:45. > :34:47.do that well. Just wept through it a bit quick. The side pushed the cue

:34:48. > :34:59.ball into the red. It looks like the man from Dublin is

:35:00. > :35:17.playing the double. Oh, he's playing safe.

:35:18. > :35:24.It looks like he can get through to the potting angle.

:35:25. > :36:17.Likewise for Fergal, into the same pocket.

:36:18. > :36:24.He'll get lots of encouragement. A very fair audience here. They'll be

:36:25. > :36:30.wanting to see a match or Fergal win a few more frames.

:36:31. > :36:37.It's hard to think straight when you're this far behind.

:36:38. > :36:43.Especially as you've not really settled down in the arena. He will

:36:44. > :36:53.do well to get anywhere near level terms here.

:36:54. > :37:15.He rolled a nice red in and it was fully appreciated.

:37:16. > :37:23.He's an absolute gent and fierce competitor.

:37:24. > :37:27.He's a marvellous sportsman. It's not beyond him to put a charge

:37:28. > :37:31.on. He made five Severnries in a best of

:37:32. > :37:45.11 match. -- centuries. A fantastic

:37:46. > :38:01.performance that was. Hard to get out of jail here.

:38:02. > :38:09.He's not played that well. Playing for the red in the middle.

:38:10. > :38:28.He will have to settle for the far corner now.

:38:29. > :38:34.That short of pace, it was reasonably easy into the corner. He

:38:35. > :38:42.plays with a really fat tip on his cue.

:38:43. > :38:52.The overhang of the tip is preaching 11 millimetres for a snooker tip.

:38:53. > :39:18.What size was your tip then? Just over nine, I think. I used a ten.

:39:19. > :39:21.I always thought the thinner the end of the cue, the more likelihood to

:39:22. > :40:12.put unintentional side on. He couldn't have struck that any

:40:13. > :40:16.better. Never in doubt the ball going into the pocket. Perfect point

:40:17. > :40:28.of contact on the far cushion. He didn't try to open the two reds

:40:29. > :40:34.up. Thought he had more of an angle than he had.

:40:35. > :40:44.I think those two reds go into the yellow pocket.

:40:45. > :40:48.He can certainly shift them from the brown coming behind both off two

:40:49. > :41:03.cushions. He would expect to get some kind of

:41:04. > :41:04.leave. Not a great outcome. No, he would like to have hit the join of

:41:05. > :41:09.the two reds. If he had caught the join, he would

:41:10. > :41:33.have pushed them both into play. Another terrific, solid pot. Nothing

:41:34. > :41:35.better than the sound of the ball hitting the back of the pocket for a

:41:36. > :42:18.player. No. Well, a bit of drama all of a

:42:19. > :42:20.sudden. Only a little bit. Now does Fergal play the red over the pocket?

:42:21. > :42:35.Or play the red onto the red? The red onto the red is guaranteed

:42:36. > :42:39.to pot. He's not looked at it though, yes, he has.

:42:40. > :42:43.Surely playing the red onto the red over the middle pocket, you're

:42:44. > :42:53.guaranteed to knock it. Perhaps he couldn't get a good

:42:54. > :43:03.position, I don't know. Still hanging on, his hopes, by a

:43:04. > :43:14.thread. Does he risk the red down the rail

:43:15. > :44:07.with an element of safety. It's amazing what goes through a

:44:08. > :44:10.player's mind. There was no value in that shot because of where the pink

:44:11. > :44:16.is. He's left this red. It is cuttable.

:44:17. > :44:19.I want to know why Fergal didn't assess the situation of playing the

:44:20. > :44:37.red onto the red over the middle. It's not cost him. He can get past

:44:38. > :44:39.the blue to hit the red and maybe a chance, he can hit the red down and

:44:40. > :45:05.bring the pink into play. Slow screw back over the distance.

:45:06. > :45:06.Done that well. Kept the cue ball down the table and nudged the pink

:45:07. > :45:13.out. Very nice shot. A bit of a bonus with the snooker as

:45:14. > :45:27.well. Couldn't guarantee that. He's back in the frame and slight

:45:28. > :45:30.favourite. Where that pink's ended up has given

:45:31. > :45:48.Mark Selby a headache. It would appear that the pink is in

:45:49. > :45:54.the way, off the yellow cushion. Looks like the blue is in the way.

:45:55. > :46:02.Perhaps he can load up with loads of side in between the blue and pink.

:46:03. > :46:07.It must be the swerve then. Can he swerve it around the brown? Doesn't

:46:08. > :46:09.want to be pushing the red ball towards the pocket. Pass the

:46:10. > :46:22.aspirins. What about bottom cushion somehow -

:46:23. > :46:25.side cushion? Round the back of the yellow, so to speak, and in between

:46:26. > :46:27.the yellow and blue. Haven't got a clue.

:46:28. > :46:35.Mark hasn't got a clue. We haven't. He looked at that line there. He's

:46:36. > :46:50.got to be careful of course. No, that won't hit it.

:46:51. > :46:54.Foul. He's got to get the other side of the black. So I don't think

:46:55. > :46:56.that's on. If he gets the other side of the black, it goes the other side

:46:57. > :47:17.of the red. All valuable points, these, in

:47:18. > :47:25.ferk's course to try and get back in this.

:47:26. > :47:34.It's going to cost him a few points. Fergal is going to get well back in

:47:35. > :47:37.this. It looks like he's trying to play round the back of the black. I

:47:38. > :47:42.don't think that's on, as you say. It's the other side of the black

:47:43. > :47:46.that's in question, whether he can. His big problem, though, if the

:47:47. > :47:51.yellow wasn't in his way, he could play it plain ball. He's got to play

:47:52. > :47:55.it with side because the yellow is covering the natural angle.

:47:56. > :48:05.I don't think it's on: It's too difficult a swerve. He will give

:48:06. > :48:10.away more points here. He's trying it the other side of the

:48:11. > :48:22.black. He's got relatively close to the black. He's done it! Superb.

:48:23. > :48:27.If you're playing at a club, on club tables with older cushion covers,

:48:28. > :48:41.that shot is not on. Brand new cushions and covers slide

:48:42. > :48:47.a lot. That was a tremendous shot, yeah.

:48:48. > :48:49.Fergal played the white the other side of the yellow.

:48:50. > :49:26.He'll settle for that. It's half a chance. We know how

:49:27. > :49:39.difficult these reds are coming into the middle pocket, narrow angle.

:49:40. > :49:51.Mark put the pink in a slightly more awkward place. Zblrvelingts Let's

:49:52. > :49:52.forget about winning the match at the moment. But winning this frame,

:49:53. > :50:25.he needs the pink. The key to this will be position

:50:26. > :50:33.from brown to blue. I don't think he's come too good on

:50:34. > :50:47.this brown. Good position on the blue could get

:50:48. > :51:38.good position on the pink. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:51:39. > :51:42.Well, what a frame to win. Never say die attitude from Fergal O'Brien,

:51:43. > :51:52.brilliant. OK, it's still a mountain to climb. But well done.

:53:36. > :53:38.In a strange way it's the only colour that isn't pottable when the
