:00:28. > :00:42.There are storm clouds gathering over Welsh sport.

:00:42. > :00:48.Two managers fearful for the future. And I have a keen threatening to

:00:48. > :00:51.destroy European rugby. Good evening and yes these are

:00:51. > :00:55.uncertain times for Welsh football and Welsh rugby, but one thing's for

:00:55. > :01:00.sure - we have a jam packed show to keep you glued to Sport Wales

:01:00. > :01:05.tonight. We travel to the south of France to

:01:05. > :01:16.hook up with two Welsh exiles as we talk Wales, player exodus and

:01:16. > :01:19.Heineken Cup. You want to be playing in a European competition that has

:01:19. > :01:23.the best teams in it. We also go north to find out why the

:01:24. > :01:31.Wrexham dream is turning into a bit of a nightmare for manager Andy

:01:31. > :01:39.Morrell. If you are not doing well you will get wasted. -- posted.

:01:39. > :01:43.And as it's "live well" season we pound the streets of the Welsh

:01:43. > :01:48.capital with 19,000 plus runners in the Cardiff half marathon. It is a

:01:48. > :01:52.sensational event. But first, it's less than an hour

:01:52. > :01:56.until kick off in the match between Wales and Macedonia at the Cardiff

:01:56. > :01:58.City Stadium, but is the clock also ticking on Chris Coleman's time as

:01:58. > :02:01.manager? There are world class players absent

:02:01. > :02:05.from his squad and a world class talent about to retire, so, as he

:02:05. > :02:08.tries to prove that he is the man to lead Wales into the 2016 European

:02:08. > :02:10.Championship qualifiers, it's fair to say a difficult job has just

:02:10. > :02:29.become a whole lot tougher. There has been confusion over

:02:29. > :02:36.contracts. There is two qualification games to go. If

:02:37. > :02:42.anybody is judging me on the next game, if that is the case, I am not

:02:42. > :02:46.sure that even if a contract was offered I would be signing it. It is

:02:46. > :02:55.difficult to judge a person on one match. If he was on trial now

:02:55. > :03:03.anybody would pack in now. There were insults followed by injuries to

:03:03. > :03:11.several star men. It is a massive night for him. We are at home. I

:03:11. > :03:17.fear for us going to Belgium. They are world-class side. It was never

:03:17. > :03:20.meant to be easy, but who would be in his shoes when places and

:03:20. > :03:25.catastrophe seem to work around every corner? After just three wins

:03:25. > :03:40.from 12 business where the story ends for Chris Coleman westerner?

:03:40. > :03:50.Let us look at the facts. I said I would never walk away from Wales. I

:03:50. > :03:53.will stick by that. I cannot say that I need players should be here

:03:53. > :04:00.and then if I get a good opportunity to go. The next one is massive. I

:04:00. > :04:09.will go into these two games like I have all the games. We will see what

:04:09. > :04:15.comes out the other side. Craig Bellamy places final international

:04:15. > :04:20.before retirement. There are plenty in forcing him going straight from

:04:20. > :04:27.which to dugout. He is up born winner. He can really that to his

:04:27. > :04:39.team. Obviously Chris Coleman is still in the job. But if he weaves

:04:39. > :04:43.Craig Bellamy would be my choice. He wants to give something back. He

:04:43. > :04:53.wants to coach. I would not rule that out at all. Having seen him at

:04:53. > :05:06.work in the dressing room and on the training ground he is an intelligent

:05:06. > :05:18.lad. I would do my utmost to get up the goal-scoring charts. But that is

:05:18. > :05:26.me. Craig Bellamy is his own man. He has made the right decision to stop

:05:26. > :05:33.now. He will get the credit he deserves from Cardiff city

:05:33. > :05:39.supporters. Our winning sendoff would be ideal, but even giving a

:05:39. > :05:45.long injury list a daunting trip to Brussels means Wales need at least a

:05:45. > :05:55.draw against Macedonia. Who would give them a chance of not finishing

:05:55. > :06:01.last wish to mark. Nine or ten players are out of the squad. It is

:06:01. > :06:11.a massive night for him. It will be very tough over the next couple of

:06:11. > :06:18.games. Belgium are world-class side. They are merely the top two or three

:06:18. > :06:23.sides in the world at the moment. First and foremost the idea is to

:06:23. > :06:31.grind out a result against Macedonia to get off the bottom of the table.

:06:31. > :06:34.They have beaten as. They have beaten Serbia. They have drawn a

:06:34. > :06:42.Scotland. The lost narrowly to eligible. Macedonia are seeded

:06:42. > :06:48.higher than as coming into this group. This will be a tough game on

:06:48. > :06:56.Friday night. It will be a bumpy ride. It is a game we have got to

:06:56. > :07:12.try and when. Let's talk more football now with a

:07:12. > :07:20.run Roberts. -- Iwan Roberts. Wales, six points from eight. Can he get

:07:20. > :07:30.the points tonight? It will be a tough game. I was impressed when we

:07:30. > :07:38.played them away from home. We have got 11 players missing from tonight.

:07:38. > :07:44.It be a tough evening. Well Chris Coleman still be in charge this time

:07:44. > :07:53.next week? I think he will be. We need good performances. He has had

:07:53. > :07:56.his problems of injuries. But I do think can the beginning of the next

:07:56. > :08:03.qualifying campaign Chris Coleman. Be the man in charge. From one

:08:03. > :08:12.manager under pressure to another. What is going on with Malky Mackay?

:08:12. > :08:19.It looks like that. To get rid of a valued member of staff, someone who

:08:19. > :08:28.has built a squad. How important has he been? He has got these transfer

:08:28. > :08:32.targets. The players that have been brought in and have got them to a

:08:32. > :08:38.cup final. They have had a decent start to the season. Malky Mackay

:08:38. > :08:45.will be shocked, hurt and angry. Will he still be there? He will roll

:08:45. > :08:50.his sleeves up. He will get on with the job in hand until he is told

:08:50. > :09:01.otherwise. He will not be short of offers. He will be a wanted man.

:09:01. > :09:03.Thank you for joining us. We will see you later on match of

:09:03. > :09:14.the day. There are extended highlights of

:09:14. > :09:21.tonight 's match along with reaction from Iwan Roberts and Mickey Thomas

:09:21. > :09:33.on BBC Two to Wales. With the road over the future of the

:09:33. > :09:36.Heineken Cup rumbling on and the threat of many more high profile

:09:36. > :09:40.departures across the Channel, we decided to send Gareth Rhys Owen to

:09:40. > :09:52.France to see what life's like there if you're a welsh rugby star. It's

:09:52. > :10:13.time to say bonjour to James Hook. This has been the home of James Hook

:10:13. > :10:32.since 2011. He is speaking to his friends in French. I wanted to get

:10:32. > :10:43.signed up as quick as possible. If James Hook has a weakness it is

:10:43. > :10:51.his versatility. But this summer arrival of Lopez has seen him such a

:10:51. > :10:56.game. When I was first told I was playing fullback I thought, here we

:10:56. > :11:12.go again. But I am enjoying it. I made more breaks in the first eight

:11:12. > :11:18.games. It is going well so far. My versatility has got be to where I

:11:18. > :11:22.am. I just want to keep working hard on all aspects of my game and

:11:22. > :11:39.achieve more. At least he has been playing.

:11:39. > :11:48.It looks off all. It is one of those injuries. It is not the pain. You

:11:48. > :11:50.see it and you know it is season over and our long-term lay-off. I

:11:51. > :12:01.have had a few weeks of training now. Heineken Cup awaydays looks

:12:01. > :12:05.like being a thing of the past. Unhappy with their share of revenue

:12:05. > :12:08.the French and English are threatening to form their own called

:12:09. > :12:15.attention. We have learnt that the French clubs have normal attention

:12:15. > :12:24.of meeting with the Heineken cup organisers.

:12:24. > :12:38.You want the best teams in it. You want to be involved. Hopefully it

:12:38. > :12:43.will get sorted out. This club remains very guarded when it comes

:12:43. > :12:48.to the Heineken Cup. None of the French players, coaches or officials

:12:48. > :12:52.were to us. That is to be realistic we need to travel north to one of

:12:53. > :13:03.the powerhouses of the European rugby. Toulouse have won the

:13:03. > :13:06.Heineken Cup on four occasions but as things stand there is no prospect

:13:06. > :13:12.of them playing in next year 's competition. We are worried about

:13:12. > :13:27.the future of the Heineken Cup. You shills by these? -- do you share

:13:27. > :13:38.these worries? Yes. It is important that they find a solution. I can

:13:38. > :13:49.understand why the Welsh are scared. We are scared as well. We want to

:13:49. > :13:54.see it go on. It is not as that'll make that decision. Welsh regions

:13:54. > :14:01.face another challenge from the French. The vultures are continuing

:14:01. > :14:14.to circle for the stars will be out of contract next season. The

:14:14. > :14:19.majority of us, it is similar to what it is back home. You cannot

:14:19. > :14:45.just come to France and think you are a superstar.

:14:45. > :14:59.It has been frustrating, especially the last couple of years. Or you

:14:59. > :15:14.can do is play well and do your best. -- all you can do. Time now

:15:14. > :15:19.to discuss all things Welsh rugby with Carwyn Jones. Let us start

:15:19. > :15:24.with the players. How many more can we expect to leave? At think there

:15:24. > :15:29.will be more because of the market pressures and I don't think all the

:15:29. > :15:37.clubs can maintain their current players. The Welsh team have done

:15:37. > :15:44.well. Sam Warburton says there is nothing on the table for him yet.

:15:44. > :15:50.He is an exceptional case. If he goes to France and they just

:15:50. > :15:56.mercilessly used him as a piece of meat every Saturday, I don't know

:15:56. > :16:04.how often we will see him with a Welsh shirt on. The union need to

:16:04. > :16:09.step in. But that is moving the ball park completely because we

:16:09. > :16:16.will be heading into central contracts. People would like some

:16:16. > :16:21.element of that anyway. We will lose these iconic players. Half

:16:21. > :16:34.penny is the pin-up of Welsh rugby as well. -- half penny macro. We

:16:34. > :16:39.cannot keep everyone. One will happen with the Heineken Cup? Will

:16:39. > :16:48.there be a European Cup involving the Welsh regions? The Irish,

:16:48. > :16:53.Scottish, Italian regions think that the ERC will run this Cup and

:16:53. > :16:59.it is not going to happen. We are happy for European competition, but

:16:59. > :17:06.we are not being run by the unions and the Irish. It will take place.

:17:06. > :17:13.There is too much money involved, but whether it will happen next

:17:13. > :17:20.season, I am not sure. Financially for the beach and then, how can

:17:20. > :17:26.they exist -- for the regions, how can they exist? It will be very

:17:26. > :17:33.hard. The Heineken Cup kicks off this weekend. What about the Welsh

:17:33. > :17:39.hopes? The Ospreys need to win their home matches. It is read the

:17:39. > :17:45.top. If they lose the first going, basically they have had it. That is

:17:45. > :17:53.the pressure for them. This group is going to be decided by bonus

:17:53. > :18:01.points. What about the blues, a way to Exeter? I don't think they will

:18:01. > :18:08.beat Exeter a wave. There is a lot of tension in the blues outfit in

:18:08. > :18:12.terms of the players and the administrators. I am not sure if

:18:12. > :18:16.they are all pulling in the same direction at the same time.

:18:17. > :18:21.Sometimes situations like this can galvanise teams, but that does not

:18:21. > :18:29.seem to be happening bought the blues. What about the Harlequins?

:18:29. > :18:38.They have got a solid back row, but it does not inspire you offensively.

:18:38. > :18:44.They do not punch holes. It will be a tough game, but it should be a

:18:44. > :18:50.good one to watch. One thing for sure is that the drama and

:18:50. > :18:57.uncertainty in world rugby looks set to run and run.

:18:57. > :19:01.OK. Thanks, Gwyn. Now, let's change gear and switch to the high octane

:19:01. > :19:05.world of mountain biking We went to meet a rising star in the sport who

:19:05. > :19:13.wants to go downhill as fast as she can.

:19:13. > :19:18.Now, as it's the live well season on BBC Wales, we spent last Sunday

:19:18. > :19:21.catching up with the 19,000 runners who helped make the Cardiff half

:19:21. > :19:27.marathon the biggest road race in Wales. Cathy Williams joined them

:19:27. > :19:32.on the streets of the capital. It has become a major event. It is

:19:32. > :19:39.probably be Number Two race in Great Britain. Young people are

:19:39. > :19:46.being inspired by it. Last year's Welsh champion was back again after

:19:46. > :19:52.spending some time training in Colorado. I was shown the training

:19:52. > :20:01.I needed to do and how to do it properly. It is the Commonwealth

:20:01. > :20:10.Games next year. Maybe he will be inspired enough to get in to bat.

:20:10. > :20:24.And D Welsh female favourite was hoping to win her first title. --

:20:24. > :20:38.and the Welsh have been a favourite. There were also some people there

:20:38. > :20:43.who were determined to finished. I had a stroke a couple of years ago.

:20:43. > :20:58.I am still about four tippers and blind, but I have come up the other

:20:58. > :21:08.side. -- I am about 40% blind. Here we go. The biggest road race in

:21:08. > :21:13.Wales! It was no surprise to see be three world-class Kenyans setting a

:21:13. > :21:23.fast pace which took the athletes from the city centre, along Cardiff

:21:23. > :21:31.Bay and round to be Civic Centre and the finishing line. It is a

:21:31. > :21:36.sensational event. The fact that be caused is quick and the tracks the

:21:36. > :21:43.elite runners, it makes it easier for the others. The Kenyan runners

:21:43. > :21:52.were in a race and class of their own. The top British runners were

:21:52. > :21:59.trailing behind, but they received plenty of support. It is one of the

:21:59. > :22:05.few sports that you can marry the best in the world and those who do

:22:05. > :22:13.it for fun. The ambition is high for the infant in terms of raising

:22:13. > :22:19.money. - WHITE for the event. If we get a fast time we can prove to the

:22:19. > :22:36.world that we can deliver at the 2016 World Championships.

:22:36. > :22:51.A I am happy with that. I have knocked about four seconds off. --

:22:51. > :23:01.I am happy with that. Jessica Paris Williams came in third. I held back

:23:01. > :23:07.a little bit but it was a struggle in the last couple of miles. There

:23:07. > :23:11.was a sort of carnival atmosphere as the rest of the runners

:23:11. > :23:18.completed the course. Some in better shape than others, but all

:23:18. > :23:25.of them relieved and proud. I have never been so glad to see the

:23:25. > :23:34.finishing line in my life. This is my pride and joy.

:23:34. > :23:36.Now then, for three years running as Wrexham made it to the

:23:36. > :23:38.Conference play-offs, they've got used to enjoying life at the top of

:23:38. > :23:54.the table. But this season is a very different

:23:54. > :24:00.story. These days they come in hope and not expectation. There have

:24:00. > :24:04.been too many defeats, conceded goals and hard luck stories. And

:24:04. > :24:12.more pressure than ever before on the man behind me. How are you

:24:12. > :24:33.coping. It is constantly on my mind, but it is something I have to deal

:24:33. > :24:38.with. I have my children to take my mind off of things and bring me

:24:38. > :24:42.down to normality. How were there, as soon as you get here, your

:24:42. > :24:48.thoughts are back on it. What has gone wrong? We have had some

:24:48. > :24:54.injuries and lost a couple of good players. We have got to stop the

:24:54. > :25:00.King calls. We don't have a settled back for which is key to doing well

:25:00. > :25:07.in a season. We have not had a settled back for for the 13 games

:25:07. > :25:14.we have had. You have said it would take a monumental effort to get

:25:14. > :25:22.back to the top of the table. Are you throwing in the towel?

:25:22. > :25:28.Absolutely not. Saying that, I might be out of a job at the end of

:25:28. > :25:34.the season. Do you feel there? Absolutely. If you are not doing

:25:34. > :25:39.your job, you are out. Senior club figures told us they are behind the

:25:39. > :25:47.man who has twice taken them to the brink of promotion. If you look at

:25:47. > :25:57.Andy's record, it is probably only second to Alex Ferguson in terms of

:25:58. > :26:03.win percentage ratio. Pump more money into the team is the cry from

:26:03. > :26:09.more fans. Wrexham did make a run for under £1,000 last season, but

:26:09. > :26:17.Sport Wales understands that went on clearing historic debt. The

:26:17. > :26:22.board insists Wrexham has one of the top six playing budget in the

:26:22. > :26:28.league. The budget is not an issue or a problem. We need to get as

:26:28. > :26:36.much money to support the players and win games. That is the story.

:26:36. > :26:41.They is nothing else. Every penny this Business earns goes back into

:26:41. > :26:48.two places. It either goes into Andy morale's budget or funding the

:26:48. > :26:56.centre for excellence. And we think we have has been reinvested. Last

:26:56. > :27:08.season and this season's players spend is exactly the same. They

:27:08. > :27:14.have lost to six part-time teams this season, but not this time. A

:27:14. > :27:19.vital win back left them just two points above the drop zone. We have

:27:19. > :27:26.talked about pressure - how do you feel now? We sleep easier? Probably

:27:26. > :27:31.not! I would say yes, but there are issues in the games that we have

:27:31. > :27:36.got. However, the three-point have made the day a lot better. I am

:27:36. > :27:47.working on stuff to get another three points. He is hoping that

:27:47. > :28:04.Wrexham can build on that as they travelled to bonnet. -- Barnett.

:28:04. > :28:08.Well that's it for another week. Good luck to Wrexham with their

:28:08. > :28:10.trip to Barnet on Sunday and, of course, it's fingers crossed that

:28:10. > :28:13.Chris Coleman and Wales get a result against Macedonia this

:28:13. > :28:16.evening, but as they attempt to finish their campaign on a high,

:28:16. > :28:18.Craig Bellamy will be calling time on an impressive 15 year

:28:18. > :28:21.international career. 76 caps and 19 goals for his country. Craig

:28:21. > :28:32.Bellamy, we thank you for the memories.

:28:32. > :28:41.Bellamy finds the back of the net! And he has been sensational. His

:28:41. > :28:46.number of caps and goals speak for themselves. He is a special player

:28:46. > :28:52.and he is up there with the best.
