:00:21. > :00:27.Welcome to the final Sport Wales of 2015 and what a show we have

:00:28. > :00:30.fo' you, here s what's coming up. It s the end of the road for Garry

:00:31. > :00:50.And we celebrate yet another great year of Welsh Sport.

:00:51. > :00:53.A massive honour to represent the country.

:00:54. > :00:56.And so, it's the end of the road for Garry Monk at Swansea City.

:00:57. > :01:09.Sacked on Wednesday, this is how the story unfolded...

:01:10. > :01:14.studio, at the minute lots of callers

:01:15. > :01:30.the way the club has acted. The show is normally on-air on Saturday. A

:01:31. > :01:41.special show this evening to get the Swansea fans reacting. This should

:01:42. > :01:54.be interesting. We will get a few callers from West and some will be

:01:55. > :02:04.pleased, some will be disappointed. Come on then, let's go. Ready to

:02:05. > :02:17.rumble. I did Wales today I will call Rob in ten minutes. Do you want

:02:18. > :02:24.to drink? Yes, no sugar please. A special call Rob for you to have

:02:25. > :02:31.your say on Garry Monk. 22 months at the helm. What do you want to say?

:02:32. > :03:12.It is an outrageous decision, to be honest. The

:03:13. > :03:22.What a terrible way to treat a good man. Our Swansea getting relegated?

:03:23. > :03:29.Unless we get the right person in... I am saying 20,000 people have been

:03:30. > :03:33.under the misconception that we are too good to go down. I have said to

:03:34. > :03:41.people we are not too good to go down. We need to get someone who can

:03:42. > :03:49.hold the reins back in sale is out of the tough seas. What about Mr

:03:50. > :03:56.Meuse. Or Brendan back. David Moyes, you failed at Manchester United.

:03:57. > :04:08.Furthermore miserably at Sociedad. He dead ten years good work at

:04:09. > :04:11.Everton. Setting his own agenda. Eddie is in Swansea. What a sad

:04:12. > :04:18.indictment of football at the moment. To treat a man like that. Is

:04:19. > :04:24.it right Garry Monk has gone, have they panicked because of the money

:04:25. > :04:32.on offer as Jamaat Paul, right decision? I think it is the right

:04:33. > :04:39.decision. Performances have not been good. I said all season, to even

:04:40. > :04:44.match last season s achievements match last season's achievements

:04:45. > :04:49.would have been incredible that the expectation of a lot of the fans was

:04:50. > :04:54.we finished eighth, we can do better than that. An anonymous text and

:04:55. > :05:02.Claire on Twitter said what about Leighton James? Fancy being the next

:05:03. > :05:09.manager? What have I done to deserve that? We have to go now. Coming up

:05:10. > :05:18.next on BBC Radio Wales, in the garden. What a lovely introduction.

:05:19. > :05:33.Thank you. The end of a crazy day, Garry Monk has gone, who next?

:05:34. > :05:40.He has shown last year that he has lots of attributes that will help in

:05:41. > :05:45.its career at the future. It is a setback for him but sometimes you

:05:46. > :05:51.need setbacks to shape you as a manager. Garry will recover. He's a

:05:52. > :05:56.good manager, he has proved that after his last season at Swansea. A

:05:57. > :06:01.bad run of five or six games just shows you are under pressure in the

:06:02. > :06:05.league. It is a great shame for the relationship Garry has had between

:06:06. > :06:12.Swansea City, the owners and the club but what they have achieved

:06:13. > :06:18.together... As a manager you hope people are more patient but it is

:06:19. > :06:26.the ultimate ringing in the ears of 120 million. The clubs have the

:06:27. > :06:32.power, it is their decision, what can I say more than I feel sorry

:06:33. > :06:43.about it. Garry Monk, what it achieved last season will be in

:06:44. > :06:46.history for a long time. I'm sure he will get a real refresh period and

:06:47. > :07:05.will come back. I cannot speak about if, first I

:07:06. > :07:17.have to speak with Ryan Giggs himself. If its true committee is

:07:18. > :07:30.coming to me. I never read papers and I think it is the truth.

:07:31. > :07:42.England had more patients about managers,

:07:43. > :07:53.I think for every team, my general thinking, those teams will play

:07:54. > :07:57.better with the same manager, try to change because you're not happy for

:07:58. > :08:03.one moment of the season, I don't think that is the...

:08:04. > :08:07.And you can keep up to date with all the very latest

:08:08. > :08:09.Tomorrow, all eyes will be on Paris as Wales

:08:10. > :08:15.find out who they'll face at Euro 2016 next summer.

:08:16. > :08:20.So what's the dre'm draw for Chris Coleman s men?

:08:21. > :08:25.Who better to ask than the man who got them there?

:08:26. > :08:47.Ian Hunt went to Madrid to meet the megastar that is?Gareth Bale.

:08:48. > :08:55.What a year it has been for you, how do you reflect on it, your best ever

:08:56. > :09:00.year? I am not sure if it is the best ever but a lot has been

:09:01. > :09:07.achieved. With Wales we set out to qualify, no other team in Welsh

:09:08. > :09:12.history has done it before, yeah, an amazing experience to go to the

:09:13. > :09:17.qualifying campaign and to qualify and make history for Wales is a

:09:18. > :09:22.dream true. I am sure in your mind lots of memories from the campaign,

:09:23. > :09:30.what stands out for you, what was the goal? I don't know if it was a

:09:31. > :09:34.specific goal, Belgium was a big turning point which put as clear and

:09:35. > :09:41.gave us confidence and momentum in the rest of the games. That goal was

:09:42. > :09:47.the one I would look back on and say was the most important. When we

:09:48. > :09:51.qualified, the relief literally every feeling came out and it was an

:09:52. > :09:57.amazing experience to share with the team. And you went back to Cardiff

:09:58. > :10:05.to watch the friendly, what did you make of it? Strange to be watching?

:10:06. > :10:11.Very strange. It was frustrating not on the pitch. Injury made that

:10:12. > :10:16.decision for me. If I'm not playing, I want to meet with the team and be

:10:17. > :10:21.there as much as I can and it was a good game to watch. We were unlucky

:10:22. > :10:29.but good preparation for the year race. The one criticism people have

:10:30. > :10:32.is the team becomes too reliant on you, did the Netherlands game

:10:33. > :10:41.address that criticism because you had others popping up? Definitely,

:10:42. > :10:46.there was lots of positives to take and me and were missing and it gave

:10:47. > :10:52.the youngsters opportunity to show what they can do. We played pretty

:10:53. > :11:02.well as a team. We were unlucky not to get a draw oral win but we scored

:11:03. > :11:06.two against them and there. Whoever scores the goals, we don't mind as

:11:07. > :11:12.mind as long as we get results. The Euro 2016 draw is around the corner,

:11:13. > :11:17.I'm sure you'll be taking a close interest. Will it be the moment when

:11:18. > :11:26.it's all sinks in and you realise? It is a shock but we know we are

:11:27. > :11:32.ready for it and as the tournament gets closer, the draw gets made and

:11:33. > :11:36.the friendlies before the tournament and it will get exciting. What are

:11:37. > :11:40.you hoping for because Wales are in the bottom part, will you come up

:11:41. > :11:46.against some of the big ones? Yeah, that is what we want though. We want

:11:47. > :11:49.to play on a bigger stage and test ourselves against the best and we

:11:50. > :11:53.will have to do that in the tournament and I'm sure any other

:11:54. > :11:57.country will not be looking forward to playing us because we are strong

:11:58. > :12:01.with a great team spirit and character and we play good football.

:12:02. > :12:08.Do you have a dream scenario and group? People say it could be

:12:09. > :12:13.England. England would be nice, I suppose, a local rivalry, one that

:12:14. > :12:20.has been there for centuries but whoever we play we will go out to

:12:21. > :12:26.win and get the points to qualify. Confident Wales would beat England?

:12:27. > :12:31.Of course! In terms of the Euro is, how can Wales do next summer in

:12:32. > :12:36.France, how far can they go? I honestly believe if we have let

:12:37. > :12:43.along the way and we play football, we have a great chance. Of winning.

:12:44. > :12:47.Of winning? Of course. We are not making up the numbers. We are doing

:12:48. > :12:52.a serious job to win the tournament. If you don't go to win, there was no

:12:53. > :12:58.point to just be a second fiddle team. We want to do the best we can.

:12:59. > :13:02.That would be something, not to qualify and then win! That is the

:13:03. > :13:09.aim. You have to dream big. That is the plan. You have to beat a lot of

:13:10. > :13:16.top sides. It has been done before, Greece, Denmark. Yeah, we know it is

:13:17. > :13:22.an incredible task but no reason why can't be done. Wales would need you

:13:23. > :13:28.and Aaron to be there right through to achieve that. Yeah, we're not a

:13:29. > :13:33.massive nation, we have a good squad but we need all our players to be

:13:34. > :13:42.fit and you need a bit of luck along the way and hopefully you can get

:13:43. > :13:47.that. Do you miss home? To enjoy life in Spain. Of course, home is

:13:48. > :13:51.home. You can never change that. I love going back and playing for

:13:52. > :13:58.Wales and will never get the chance to go home I do. How you are

:13:59. > :14:04.perceived in Madrid, in Wales who are idealised. You are the face on

:14:05. > :14:26.every teenager s wall. I'm filling my dream for Wales stop

:14:27. > :14:31.stay tuned as Gareth Bell gets us into the Christmas spirit. Favourite

:14:32. > :14:35.chewing? I love my Christmas songs at the moment. Of course, every

:14:36. > :14:39.Christmas. As soon as the Christmas songs are on! Earlier in the

:14:40. > :14:41.week,... Earlier in the week,

:14:42. > :14:43.the Wales Sports Awards took place in Cardiff, with the coveted BBC

:14:44. > :14:46.Cymru Wales Sports Personality We sent a very dapper

:14:47. > :15:03.Christian Malcolm to mingle I'm here at the Wales sports awards

:15:04. > :15:07.to celebrate what a fantastic year it has been in Welsh sport. I'm

:15:08. > :15:12.going to see who I can catch up with. Here, I am here with one of

:15:13. > :15:20.the main contenders here, Alan Shore, however you. I'm good, mate.

:15:21. > :15:23.All fun and games, these nights are great because it's just great to see

:15:24. > :15:29.all these amazing athletes celebrating Welsh sport. Is there

:15:30. > :15:34.anyone in particular you feel deserve the award tonight? Allott,

:15:35. > :15:38.because he honestly had setbacks and then been amazing, like ridiculously

:15:39. > :15:45.amazing, even so. And then obviously Gareth Bell, because our year has

:15:46. > :15:51.been ridiculous. Who is tipped to win? It's got to be Dan Biggar

:15:52. > :15:58.playing week in and out. He seems to be working, he might add some more

:15:59. > :16:06.to it, we never know. When we are off camera, I'm going to get the

:16:07. > :16:11.real answer from you! The winner of the team of the year is the Wales

:16:12. > :16:15.senior men's football team. What an achievement for the Welsh team to

:16:16. > :16:19.make it to the year is like that. It's fantastic, I know it was just

:16:20. > :16:25.the one game in a ten gallon campaign, and the manager, what a

:16:26. > :16:30.job he has done. I think, in the Euros, in the summer in France, I

:16:31. > :16:36.think we can make a serious impact. You are covered this year's unsung

:16:37. > :16:43.hero for Wales, congratulations! Congratulation, the BBC like unsung

:16:44. > :16:48.hero! Was it a shock? Was it a shock, indeed it was! I think you

:16:49. > :16:51.are a hero, helping people like me getting involved in sports. Thank

:16:52. > :16:58.you and well done. Congratulations, how do you feel? Really pleasing,

:16:59. > :17:05.you know. There are so many people my age that are up for this award,

:17:06. > :17:13.it feels really good to receive it. Hannah, congratulations! Thank you!

:17:14. > :17:16.How does it feel? It's amazing, looking back at everyone else who

:17:17. > :17:24.has won this award, there are so many big names will stop its

:17:25. > :17:31.amazing. The winner of coach of the year is Chris Coleman. It's not just

:17:32. > :17:35.his award, it's his backroom staff, because I think he would admit he

:17:36. > :17:39.couldn't do it on his own. The recipient of the BBC Wales lifetime

:17:40. > :17:48.achievement award goes to say Gareth Edwards. Long overdue. I didn't have

:17:49. > :17:54.an inkling. What a lovely moment for me to cherish, it is a bit early for

:17:55. > :18:03.me to really appreciate the whole occasion. In third place, Lee Selby.

:18:04. > :18:11.Third place, the night. Happy, disappointed? Being a prize fight it

:18:12. > :18:15.it is always a long wait for these things. It was never going to be

:18:16. > :18:21.first place, because I'm surrounded by good talent but I'm happy stop

:18:22. > :18:25.second place, Geraint Thomas. Thank you for all your voter in means a

:18:26. > :18:32.lot. 2015 was a great year for me and hopefully I will continue to

:18:33. > :18:40.improve. And now BBC's sports personality of the year 2015 is Dan

:18:41. > :18:45.Biggar. Dan, sports personality of the year 2015, congratulations. It's

:18:46. > :18:49.unreal, all the names getting rattled off, I was never thinking I

:18:50. > :18:54.was anywhere near they shout, I couldn't be the hands down

:18:55. > :18:57.favourite, but I'm really proud to pick this up, it's a massive honour

:18:58. > :19:02.to represent the country, and receive something like this. I've

:19:03. > :19:07.got to ask you this question, I know you get asked all the time? The big

:19:08. > :19:13.arena, the shuffle of the shoulders. Talk to me, you are in the moment

:19:14. > :19:17.stop I was just in the zone, it's hard to sort of realise what you're

:19:18. > :19:21.doing stop you don't even worry about anything else, I find gets me

:19:22. > :19:24.a little bit more relaxed and comfortable, it worked for the

:19:25. > :19:31.England game, and I can relax a bit with it now. Wow, what a fantastic

:19:32. > :19:34.event, what a great evening. Welsh sport has been thriving this year,

:19:35. > :19:42.and for Dan Biggar at the top, he was the man. He might be doing the

:19:43. > :19:43.old... Big arena! See you guys again.

:19:44. > :19:46.So many highs in what s been yet another fantastic year,

:19:47. > :19:53.of the telly and relive all of the most magical

:19:54. > :20:00.and memorable moments from Welsh sport in 2015.

:20:01. > :20:10.So, who were the heroes of Welsh sport in 2015? Gareth Bales strikes

:20:11. > :20:18.again! Who shone the brightest, who hit the hardest, who went the

:20:19. > :20:26.distance? How good was Dan Biggar? Come on! Who did you celebrate? Who

:20:27. > :20:36.made you dance? Who made you sing? Waltzing Matilda! Who made you mad.

:20:37. > :20:38.He was rude! And why was this guy so happy? Find out on Friday December

:20:39. > :20:41.the 18th, on BBC Wales. was watching Wakes

:20:42. > :20:45.qualify for Euro 2016. Their first major tournament

:20:46. > :20:47.in almost 60 years. one of Wales most esteemed

:20:48. > :21:10.journalists has been delving In 1958 the Wales football team did

:21:11. > :21:14.something they had never achieved before or since. They qualify for

:21:15. > :21:21.the finals of the World Cup. The return match for Cardiff would mean

:21:22. > :21:26.for British teams in the final. The team when 1958 were a good team.

:21:27. > :21:31.People will say today that Wales are a one-man show, Gareth bail. People

:21:32. > :21:36.were saying that about 58. It was John Charles then. He was idolised

:21:37. > :21:40.as one of the great players of Europe, not least for his

:21:41. > :21:44.sportsmanship, a man who was never booked. Comparisons will be endless

:21:45. > :21:49.between Charles and bail, who is the greater player? I have no doubt that

:21:50. > :21:55.Charles was the greatest footballer that this country has ever produced,

:21:56. > :22:05.that is not to say that Gareth Bales won't be as great. Sweden, in 1958,

:22:06. > :22:12.a draw against Mexico won all stop hungry was one all. Sweden, the

:22:13. > :22:16.hosts, one nil nil. We had two play-off against Hungary to reach

:22:17. > :22:23.the last stages, the mighty John Charles was given a rear severe

:22:24. > :22:28.hacking by the Hungarians. They had a 17-year-old kid that nobody had

:22:29. > :22:33.really heard of playing for Brazil, Palais. It was the first gold at the

:22:34. > :22:39.Palais scored. One nil was enough to do for Wales, but the story was has

:22:40. > :22:43.John Charles not been fit, had he not been put out of the game by the

:22:44. > :22:49.Hungarians then who knows, Wales might have even gone on to the

:22:50. > :22:55.semifinals. I think maybe the worst players are complaining. There can

:22:56. > :23:00.be no doubt as to the enormity of what Wales have already achieved in

:23:01. > :23:04.qualifying for the finals of the European Championship. Of the

:23:05. > :23:08.world's most popular sport. It is time for everybody to get together,

:23:09. > :23:13.there is one opportunity for the whole of Wales to go on a European

:23:14. > :23:16.stage, and show, not just that they can play football, but that Wales is

:23:17. > :23:19.a pretty good place. Earlier on, we saw the more

:23:20. > :23:22.serious side to him, but what about the lighter

:23:23. > :23:24.side of Gareth Bale? What makes him tick

:23:25. > :23:26.away from football? We put Mr Bale under the spotlight

:23:27. > :23:54.to find out one or two things I was always good at athletics, so

:23:55. > :23:58.when I have had this question before I might say maybe athletics,

:23:59. > :24:05.sprinting, long-distance or something, that sort of event. My

:24:06. > :24:09.sporting hero would probably be Ryan Giggs. When I grew up, he was a left

:24:10. > :24:12.footed Welsh player, a similar style to me, and I always watched him

:24:13. > :24:23.growing up, I love the way he played. Wherever there's a golf

:24:24. > :24:26.course! What do you play off the? Six, at the moment. Favourite

:24:27. > :24:40.food... Probably chocolate, or pizza. My friends and family. I love

:24:41. > :24:48.my Christmas songs at the moment. Do you? Of course, every Christmas. As

:24:49. > :24:59.soon as they come on. What sort of songs, wham, Slade? Everything, the

:25:00. > :25:12.Christmas album. Worse team-mate, I'm not too sure. I'd probably have

:25:13. > :25:17.the say David Beckham. The Masters. Masters golf? Yeah. To always keep

:25:18. > :25:22.working hard to melt no matter where you are in your sport, just to keep

:25:23. > :25:28.working hard, and that will give you a great platform to get you where

:25:29. > :25:36.you want. One word to describe myself? I'm not sure. Modest?

:25:37. > :25:42.Modest, they go, you said it. And that s it from the team for this

:25:43. > :25:45.year, congratulations to all those Here's hoping that

:25:46. > :26:16.2016 is even better. We've invited a Wales international

:26:17. > :26:20.to the seaside so we had to buy him ships. There we go, I'll share them.

:26:21. > :26:26.I'm looking forward to England where the winning the World Cup. There is

:26:27. > :26:37.only one game, guys, this is the one to win. Go on, Wales! Listen, I've

:26:38. > :26:42.just finished up at the test track, seen the line-up for the game later?

:26:43. > :26:57.What are you thinking, Keith Northey out on the wing.

:26:58. > :27:09.Mum! Hello. My name is Romeo, and this is my environment. Probably the

:27:10. > :27:17.best looking scrum-half in the rugby world. Get out! Best looking man in

:27:18. > :27:23.history. I'd just go on YouTube and watch myself. There are two things

:27:24. > :27:27.that I had to ask you and one of them is about that big hairy thing

:27:28. > :27:29.on your face? My name is George Green and I would like to hear...

:27:30. > :27:35.Get it right! Do you know what that means? Hug.

:27:36. > :27:59.They speak Wales, thank you very much, thank you! We

:28:00. > :28:14.are currently having a home-made bagel. How much have you lost? ?7!

:28:15. > :28:21.So, don't forget the Welsh sport review of the year, next Friday here

:28:22. > :28:24.on BBC Two Wales.
