:00:27. > :00:31.Good evening. The so Wells' Six Nations is back on track after a

:00:31. > :00:36.thrilling win in a Paris. Our football teams are doing well and

:00:36. > :00:42.this weekend a Welsh boxer from Newbridge will fight for a world

:00:42. > :00:47.title. The 23rd team is shaping up nicely for Welsh sport. Welcome to

:00:47. > :00:53.Sport Wales. Coming up. We follow Gavin Rees to the Big Apple ahead

:00:53. > :00:59.of his bout against the undefeated Adrian Broner. They could be a big

:00:59. > :01:04.upset. Jamie Roberts reflects on a win in France and is not afraid of

:01:05. > :01:09.showing his softer side. I can get quite emotional. That just that

:01:09. > :01:15.release and that team feeling of winning. Ahead of the final between

:01:15. > :01:20.at Swansea and Bradford we speak to the man who has managed both clubs.

:01:20. > :01:25.I might go for the minnows and hope they do it. Bradford needs

:01:25. > :01:30.something. In the early hours of Sunday morning all eyes here in

:01:30. > :01:35.Newbridge will be on the other side of the Atlantic as Gavin Rees

:01:35. > :01:41.fights for the WBC lightweight title. Bookies rate him as an 80-1

:01:41. > :01:51.outsider to beat the undefeated Adrian Broner. Steffan Garrero

:01:51. > :01:57.reports from the East Coast of America. For the past month, one

:01:57. > :01:59.Welsh boxer has been honing his skills here ahead of a world title

:01:59. > :02:05.fight on a Saturday night in Atlantic City. Gavin Rees is the

:02:05. > :02:11.latest in a long line of Welshmen to fight in Nick United States,

:02:11. > :02:15.including it Nathan Cleverly. He was a world Championship back in it

:02:16. > :02:22.2007 and he is fighting at lightweight now and on Saturday he

:02:22. > :02:32.takes on Adrian Broner. What are you like it before a fight? Not too

:02:32. > :02:34.

:02:34. > :02:44.bad. They do want to look at me wrong. Is this the first part of

:02:44. > :02:49.

:02:49. > :02:59.the training? There are two camps. When you get another go? Once you

:02:59. > :03:02.

:03:02. > :03:06.are world champion and it is gone, it is gone? While his self-

:03:06. > :03:11.confidence is tongue-in-cheek, he is a Poland seems convinced of his

:03:11. > :03:16.invincibility. I do not train for opponents, I do not watch them, I

:03:16. > :03:22.do not look that biographies, I do not do that. I trained to stay in

:03:23. > :03:29.shape. As long as I am in shape, I will not lose. I am very respectful

:03:29. > :03:36.to him, but once that Bell rings, I do not care about them. This is a

:03:36. > :03:46.new error of boxing. I will own and the sport of boxing. I will run

:03:46. > :03:48.

:03:48. > :03:55.boxing. What do you make of the way people are profiling you here?

:03:55. > :04:04.is a bit disrespectful. Some people say I do not have a shot. There

:04:04. > :04:12.could be a big upset. You like to party. I like to party, I like junk

:04:12. > :04:22.food. I like the training as well. I got through a lot of the fights

:04:22. > :04:22.

:04:22. > :04:30.on natural ability. Is there a wake-up call? I think it was around

:04:30. > :04:37.about prize-fighting. Everything has gone great. You have got the

:04:37. > :04:44.confidence of a man who thinks he can do it? Of course I do. I lost

:04:44. > :04:48.one fight. I had a 39 fights. I have nothing to lose, that is what

:04:48. > :04:52.people are saying, but I have everything to lose. This fight

:04:52. > :05:02.could lead to so many openings. When this bite and who knows what

:05:02. > :05:07.

:05:07. > :05:12.his next? Is it in this or bust? Yes. This is everything for me.

:05:12. > :05:15.Training camp over and his team have relocated to Atlantic City.

:05:15. > :05:20.Saturday night is a chance for Gavin Rees to become a world

:05:20. > :05:23.champion in that the second weight division. Been there five years

:05:23. > :05:28.since losing his previous world title, a lot has changed for them.

:05:28. > :05:36.He is taking things more seriously and as a result he is British and

:05:36. > :05:46.European champion. There has been a change in his corner. He is now

:05:46. > :05:48.

:05:48. > :05:53.with Gary locket. Gavin Rees is a better fighter than I was. He has

:05:53. > :05:59.got all the attributes to give this guy as serious problem and take the

:05:59. > :06:06.title of him. The champion has arrived with every angle covered.

:06:06. > :06:13.He has a huge support staff. see him walking in with the biggest

:06:13. > :06:17.entourage and that says something about a fighter. There is myself,

:06:17. > :06:26.Gavin and a few others and that tells you the difference between

:06:26. > :06:32.the cams. You place the rising young star or against a guy who is

:06:33. > :06:38.tough, competitive, you will give him a fight, but he is not supposed

:06:38. > :06:44.to beat Adrian Broner. He is not supposed to be 10. He is not

:06:44. > :06:49.supposed to be temp. It would be a sizable shop of that shattering

:06:49. > :06:57.proportions if Gavin Rees pulls this off. It would be an upset.

:06:57. > :07:03.is the biggest night of my life. I am against one of the top fighters

:07:03. > :07:09.in the world, so when this might, I could be the top a light weight in

:07:09. > :07:14.the world and then in the world is full of options. It is massive.

:07:14. > :07:21.am delighted to say that we have been joined by the last Welsh boxer

:07:21. > :07:26.to win in America, Nathan Cleverly. The Gavin Rees, he was looking

:07:26. > :07:30.relaxed there, but it is there to say he is an massive underdog.

:07:30. > :07:36.is a great opportunity for him it to prove in the but he's wrong,

:07:36. > :07:41.against the odds and he can: this offer. Adrian Broner is an elite

:07:41. > :07:45.fighter, he is one of the guys coming through, soon to be a

:07:45. > :07:53.superstar, but Gavin Rees has the style and the mentality and the

:07:53. > :07:59.fighting spirit to the 10th. there a chance that a Adrian Broner

:07:59. > :08:04.will have underestimated Tem? very easily. Adrian Broner can

:08:04. > :08:08.easily underestimate him, a lot of the Americans do, they only see

:08:08. > :08:14.Inside America and they do not look at some of the UK fighters coming

:08:14. > :08:20.through. A lot of the time you will have someone from the UK going to

:08:20. > :08:24.America and pooling of a shock. Back in November, you retained the

:08:24. > :08:29.Year title, what can you tell us about the atmosphere out there?

:08:29. > :08:36.Gavin might not have felt that the four. It is a less aggressive kind

:08:36. > :08:42.of atmosphere. It is much more relaxed whereas in the UK, the

:08:42. > :08:48.aggression is very pumped up. The pressure will be off Gavin, he will

:08:48. > :08:55.enjoy the performance. He will do the best he can. Four Welsh boxing

:08:55. > :09:03.fans, let us turn to you, how is the training going, you next fight

:09:03. > :09:10.on a march 16? I have got to fight him. Training is going well. We are

:09:10. > :09:16.well on track. I am keeping focused for the next four weeks. I want to

:09:16. > :09:21.remain a world champion. It will be a great fight. It's has been lovely

:09:22. > :09:27.to speak to. Our cameras will be following you ahead of the fight.

:09:27. > :09:32.We are always there. Good luck with all the preparation. Thank you.

:09:32. > :09:38.Tined to look ahead to next weekend and it is the big one, Swansea

:09:38. > :09:42.against Bradford in the Capital One Cup final. For one Welshman it will

:09:42. > :09:47.be particularly emotional having played at and manage to both clubs

:09:47. > :09:52.and suffered his their share of trauma and tragedy along the way.

:09:52. > :09:56.Ian Hunt caught up with the Terry Yorath. He is like an adopted

:09:56. > :10:01.Yorkshireman, and midfield legend at Leeds and a management career

:10:01. > :10:07.beginning at Bradford, but his heart also be strong Uis for

:10:07. > :10:13.Swansea. He has a sense of joy at their transformation. Terry,

:10:13. > :10:17.Bradford against Swansea, at perfect fixture for you. It is. I

:10:17. > :10:23.have been manager here twice and manager there it wise and both were

:10:23. > :10:27.good experiences. On the day, I do not know which way I will go. I

:10:27. > :10:33.might go for the minnows and hope they do it, because Bradford need

:10:33. > :10:38.something. Swansea, I wish I had a season ticket, I watch them every

:10:38. > :10:42.week. You will not have thought after the job that Brendan Rodgers

:10:42. > :10:50.did that Michael Laudrup could come in and take them on. He has done

:10:50. > :10:58.brilliantly. Who have you got the softer spot for or? Bradford. It is

:10:58. > :11:04.because of everything that happened, especially the fire. I only live in

:11:04. > :11:09.Leeds and it is not far away. To see them do what they have done is

:11:09. > :11:15.extraordinary. Even in triumph, especially in triumph, they will

:11:15. > :11:22.never forget and the darkest day in Bradford's history, back in 1985

:11:22. > :11:27.when a fire broke out in the main stand. Terry Yorath, was there and

:11:27. > :11:34.so were his family. We can see at the flames coming up into the air.

:11:34. > :11:41.People are running around. People are saying we get onto the pitch!

:11:41. > :11:50.saw my family, my wife and my kids straight away. I could not see my

:11:50. > :11:55.son. I did not see my mother and father. I went back in and got to

:11:55. > :11:58.the window worthy of this was and the flames were about 10 yards away

:11:59. > :12:03.and I was looking for my son and because he always used to go in at

:12:03. > :12:08.half-time it to get sweets and drinks. He was not there and I

:12:08. > :12:13.thought he must be outside. I went past and the director's RIM and I

:12:13. > :12:20.said, the fire has cot bow and -- hold any will have to get out. I

:12:20. > :12:25.went into the players' lounge and told them to get out. When I came

:12:25. > :12:29.out of that room, their directors were still there and I said to them,

:12:29. > :12:35.I used a bit of language and said you have got to get out. As I did

:12:35. > :12:39.it, the door blew in and that is when the move to. When I went back

:12:39. > :12:42.again, still trying to find my son, the flames were up to the window

:12:42. > :12:48.and I went back to the players' lounge, threw a chair through the

:12:48. > :12:55.window and jumped out. When I got outside, the sites were horrible,

:12:55. > :12:58.horrible. The first seller, I can remember him, he was old and he had

:12:59. > :13:05.his arms across his chest and it was just wait where he had been

:13:05. > :13:11.burned. Later, the scale of the disaster hit home. 56 people died

:13:11. > :13:15.and 270 were injured. Eventually, all the players and staff went to

:13:15. > :13:20.the pub at the top of the road and that is when you saw a policeman

:13:20. > :13:26.come out with his hair on fire. The chairman was walking down the road

:13:26. > :13:31.and he said to me, there are five or six dead. I said, there are a

:13:31. > :13:37.lot more than that. I had been into the ground and they were laying

:13:37. > :13:43.them out there. When we came down the road to our office, the

:13:43. > :13:48.policeman that came with us and he said, do not look to your left.

:13:48. > :13:57.What do you do? You look to your left. It was horrible. I will never

:13:57. > :14:02.forget it. Even now, if I smell fire, the first thing I think of...

:14:02. > :14:07.It was an awful day. Terry Yorath did find all his family that day

:14:07. > :14:11.but seven years later he would suffer the most unimaginable loss.

:14:11. > :14:21.His son and Daniel died at the age of 15 it from an undetected heart

:14:21. > :14:38.

:14:38. > :14:48.He was you one minute and on the next. -- here one minute and gone

:14:48. > :14:51.

:14:51. > :15:01.the next. It taught you family apart. -- it tore up you're family

:15:01. > :15:06.

:15:06. > :15:16.apart. It did. I should have gone for counselling. It is difficult

:15:16. > :15:20.

:15:20. > :15:30.when it is still raw. It is still on now. You do not expect your

:15:30. > :15:43.

:15:44. > :15:53.children to go before you. It should cause heartache but it

:15:53. > :16:03.probably cost a lot more because of my attitude. Alcohol helped

:16:03. > :16:03.

:16:03. > :16:13.enamoured the pain but Terry Yorath did not want to stop working. --

:16:13. > :16:17.

:16:17. > :16:27.helped to ease the pain. He never settled anywhere for long.

:16:27. > :16:28.

:16:28. > :16:35.If you look at this club and then you look at Swansea, both clubs are

:16:35. > :16:44.similar. They got to the top and then they dropped out. It is the

:16:44. > :16:54.working man's cup. 30,000 are going down. What will determine this

:16:54. > :16:58.

:16:58. > :17:08.game? Passing. It is a joy to watch. The only way I can see Bradford

:17:08. > :17:16.

:17:16. > :17:23.winning is a set piece. If I was the manager here now, I would be

:17:23. > :17:33.saying to the players, enjoy it. In that these games you can be

:17:33. > :17:37.shattered before you go out there because of the nerves.

:17:37. > :17:40.As a Welsh rider Chaz Davies prepares for his second season in

:17:40. > :17:46.the world Superbikes Championship plans are under way to bring both

:17:46. > :17:52.Superbikes and Moto GP to South Wales. Our reporter has been to

:17:52. > :18:01.Blaenau Gwent to speak to those in favour of and those against the

:18:01. > :18:05.Circuit of Wales. Moto GP and Superbikes are the

:18:05. > :18:08.elite of motorcycle racing. In two years time, in a move which will

:18:09. > :18:13.rock the traditional power base of the sport, the best of the best

:18:13. > :18:18.will be racing right here. We are not at Silverstone or Donington

:18:18. > :18:28.Park. We are in Blaenau Gwent. It will soon become the the Circuit of

:18:28. > :18:32.

:18:32. > :18:42.Wales. We have an agreement. If Wales is ready we will have an

:18:42. > :18:50.

:18:50. > :18:59.event here. It would be on time for 2015. Our focus is 2015. It has the

:18:59. > :19:08.potential to be our home that event. You cannot beat that. To try and

:19:08. > :19:12.win in Wales would be an amazing achievement.

:19:13. > :19:18.The current plans are being scrutinised by the local authority.

:19:18. > :19:25.The scale of the project is staggering, with hotels, and new

:19:25. > :19:31.technology park, and a community facility. We are working with the

:19:31. > :19:37.Welsh government, investors, and backs. It is a big project. The

:19:37. > :19:44.hope to start construction in September. It will attract 750,000

:19:44. > :19:53.visitors per year. It will be the equivalent of four or Ryder Cups

:19:53. > :19:59.every year. Not everyone is in favour of the plans. They will have

:19:59. > :20:04.to strip the land completely. Any wildlife will have to move on or

:20:04. > :20:13.what will be gone. Whatever environmental effects arise from

:20:13. > :20:20.this project will be managed and controlled. There are schemes in

:20:20. > :20:30.place, compensation schemes, which will enhance the biodiversity. --,

:20:30. > :20:40.so Nations games. -- conservation schemes. I think there is an

:20:40. > :20:41.

:20:42. > :20:51.element of false hope. There is a disregard for the long term. What

:20:52. > :20:52.

:20:52. > :20:54.happens midweek? It is all about competition. We welcome competition.

:20:54. > :20:59.The motor sport industry is surprised that people see that

:20:59. > :21:06.there is that scale of a business opportunity in the UK for such an

:21:06. > :21:11.expect the circuit. If the Circuit of Wales goes ahead it will have a

:21:11. > :21:15.serious impact on some of the more established racetracks in the UK.

:21:15. > :21:22.There is nothing state of-the-art in the UK at the moment. You come

:21:22. > :21:32.to the UK and much as I like going to Donington the facilities are out

:21:32. > :21:34.

:21:34. > :21:42.of date. Silverstone is bland. As a rider it is not exciting. What is

:21:42. > :21:47.proposed on the map here will not be a dull circuit. Donington Park

:21:47. > :21:52.is complete the approved by the Motorcycle Federation for Moto GP

:21:53. > :22:02.and Superbikes. We have a round of the championship in a few months'

:22:02. > :22:05.time. Motor racing first happened here in 1931. It is a wonderful

:22:05. > :22:11.circuit and much loved by writers and race drivers from all over the

:22:11. > :22:18.world. The plans are not totally out of the blue. Wales has a rich

:22:18. > :22:28.history in motorsport. brilliant Welsh newcomer to the

:22:28. > :22:34.

:22:34. > :22:39.field. We are also good at hosting events. A word of caution - other

:22:39. > :22:45.ventures such as this speedily for that because of a lack of

:22:45. > :22:49.spectators. A lot of the spectators will come over from the Continent.

:22:49. > :22:53.That is what has happened in the past. As soon as they get to the

:22:53. > :23:00.Channel Tunnel or come off the boat in Dover they then have to travel

:23:00. > :23:08.300 miles across country. Law what can go wrong at the planning

:23:08. > :23:18.soon be boasting one of the finest racetracks in Europe. These people

:23:18. > :23:19.

:23:19. > :23:23.have been very consistent. We think this is possible. It would be as

:23:23. > :23:33.huge step for a future to have everything as complete as what is

:23:33. > :23:33.

:23:33. > :23:38.proposed. I am massively behind it. So to that wonderful Wales to

:23:38. > :23:46.victory against France in the Six Nations. Earlier this week I went

:23:46. > :23:55.for a catch up with one of the few rows of the victory, Jamie Roberts.

:23:55. > :24:04.What a victory for Wales. Jamie Roberts, a victory in France. What

:24:04. > :24:11.has the mood be like? Saturday was a good day. It is a step in the

:24:11. > :24:21.right direction. It was needed. Both teams did not want to lose the

:24:21. > :24:21.

:24:21. > :24:29.match. That was the way the rugby was played. Just that one bit of

:24:29. > :24:36.magic turned the game on its head. All of a sudden we have won a Test

:24:36. > :24:46.match. There have been many games over the past year we have come

:24:46. > :24:48.

:24:48. > :24:54.very close and just lost. Maybe if we had played a bit a clear in

:24:54. > :24:58.those games we would have won those games. The marchers at this level

:24:59. > :25:08.are very fine. If was a strange atmosphere. I spoke to you after

:25:09. > :25:27.

:25:27. > :25:33.the game. It was emotional to say All that frustration of losing. I

:25:33. > :25:43.can get quite emotional at times. Just that release, that team

:25:43. > :25:46.

:25:46. > :25:54.feeling of winning. You can see everyone smiling. Welsh teams have

:25:54. > :26:00.won in France in the past. It was up there with one of the best days

:26:00. > :26:10.I have had in a red shirt. Wales our in it. The championship is up

:26:10. > :26:13.

:26:13. > :26:23.for grabs. It is. The Six Nations will always spring surprises. Italy

:26:23. > :26:23.

:26:24. > :26:28.showed that they are a strong side That is what makes it a magical

:26:28. > :26:38.tournament. Week after week different scenarios shoot

:26:38. > :26:38.

:26:38. > :26:44.themselves. We have to go to Italy and to Murrayfield and won. Tell me

:26:44. > :26:54.about the mood in camp. It is Valentine's Day. I have heard that

:26:54. > :26:57.

:26:57. > :27:07.you are the DG of romance. I have taken requests from every player.

:27:07. > :27:27.

:27:27. > :27:30.That is all for now. We are back at 10pm in next Friday with the build-

:27:30. > :27:39.up to the cattle one Cup final between Swansea and Bradford. And

:27:39. > :27:46.we will be in Rome ahead of Italy versus Wales.
