:00:21. > :00:28.Coming up tonight, the king and I, Ewan Roberts eats -- meet the

:00:29. > :00:32.Welshman on the brink of Premier League glory. We have the chance to

:00:33. > :00:36.achieve something and we are concentrating on it now. We catch up

:00:37. > :00:40.with the women's Welsh Premier League winners. To do it for the

:00:41. > :00:45.third time in a row is something quite special. The Welsh swimmers

:00:46. > :00:49.selected for Rio, and Jazz Carlin is hungry for medals and records.

:00:50. > :00:55.Everyone has dreams and goals but I'm going to make sure I do

:00:56. > :00:58.everything I can until then. Another Welsh medal hopeful, triathletes

:00:59. > :01:04.Helen Jenkins, well on track for Rio. It means keeping on trying with

:01:05. > :01:08.it. Gareth Rhys Owen does his bit for British boxing's Olympic hopes.

:01:09. > :01:14.This is how you get to Rio, Champ, keep it up. And a huge French test

:01:15. > :01:19.for the Dragons, can they reach their first ever European final?

:01:20. > :01:22.Teams don't make the semifinals of the European cups two years on the

:01:23. > :01:27.trot by coincidence, it's because we deserve to be there. Good evening,

:01:28. > :01:37.it's one of the most incredible stories that British football has

:01:38. > :01:40.ever known, Leicester City on the brink of winning the Premier League.

:01:41. > :01:44.Now, just a small handful of Welsh players have done it and it looks as

:01:45. > :01:50.if Andy King will join them. We sent a former Leicester man, Ewan

:01:51. > :01:54.Roberts, to meet him. COMMENTATOR:

:01:55. > :01:59.They've come out firing. Granny areas are absolutely delighted. When

:02:00. > :02:02.I came and played for this club a couple of play-offs at Wembley was

:02:03. > :02:06.as good as it got and this was the shirt I wore in one of them. Now,

:02:07. > :02:10.the foxes are on the brink of completing one of football's

:02:11. > :02:16.greatest of a fairy tales, four games to go for Leicester City to

:02:17. > :02:18.bring home here to the King Power Stadium the Premier League title.

:02:19. > :02:27.COMMENTATOR: Off the post and in. Andy, thanks

:02:28. > :02:33.for joining us, what a season it's been. Yes, it's been good, we know

:02:34. > :02:36.we have four massive games to go now. Just about trying to keep

:02:37. > :02:40.focused, take one game at a time and make sure we prepare right. We have

:02:41. > :02:43.a massive chance to achieve something and really concentrating

:02:44. > :02:49.on that now. When did you realise we've got a great chance of

:02:50. > :02:52.achieving something massive here? I think not until that long ago,

:02:53. > :02:54.really, that was when we started the season really well and then we

:02:55. > :02:59.thought the 40 point mark is well within touching distance here, we

:03:00. > :03:03.got to their and then being top at Christmas was massive. You see the

:03:04. > :03:06.stats of a lot of teams who are top at Christmas and where they go on to

:03:07. > :03:10.finish and we were strong going into the New Year. We have been taking it

:03:11. > :03:14.little hurdles at a time, trying not to look too far ahead, trying to

:03:15. > :03:17.play between international breaks, there's usually four games in

:03:18. > :03:20.between international breaks, so it's getting through the next four,

:03:21. > :03:24.that's the way we've looked at it and we found ourselves in this

:03:25. > :03:27.position which is brilliant and we have four games to achieve something

:03:28. > :03:33.special. After the game against West Ham, Spurs win on Monday, a really

:03:34. > :03:37.convincing performance at Stoke and if there are doubters out there

:03:38. > :03:42.thinking that that it's going to be Spurs's, how do you react to them?

:03:43. > :03:45.We don't react to anyone outside the four walls of the training ground or

:03:46. > :03:49.outside the changing room. We know it's down to the boys who are in

:03:50. > :03:52.their, the supporters we have in this city will always be behind us

:03:53. > :03:56.and they've been brilliant throughout the time I've been here

:03:57. > :04:00.anyway. We are focusing on our own job and we don't really have to

:04:01. > :04:03.answer to anyone from outside of that in terms of how we are going to

:04:04. > :04:10.respond. We will show it on the pitch. Are you feeling any pressure?

:04:11. > :04:13.Not at all. I've seen it this season where the pressure was here last

:04:14. > :04:17.season, it's a disparate -- different type of pressure. This is

:04:18. > :04:20.more excitement than pressure. Pressure is when you are facing

:04:21. > :04:23.getting relegated, or there are people at the club who might be

:04:24. > :04:27.losing their jobs and stuff like that. As you have seen with Villa,

:04:28. > :04:31.that's real pressure. This is where you want to be. An enjoyable sort of

:04:32. > :04:35.pressure. This is where you want to be playing, this is what you play

:04:36. > :04:39.football for, to be in these thoughts of situations and we are

:04:40. > :04:42.loving it. I saw the game of the Liberty and it was one of the best

:04:43. > :04:48.counterattacking performances I've seen. Yes, we are really aware of

:04:49. > :04:51.what Swansea are like, the way they play football. It's a game you look

:04:52. > :04:55.at and think you can go there and get a real hiding, but fortunately

:04:56. > :04:59.enough we managed to reverse it. We knew it would be a different kettle

:05:00. > :05:05.of fish playing at home, they have a new manager under real pick-up in

:05:06. > :05:08.form so we have to be ready for that again. You've got the Champions

:05:09. > :05:14.League group stages to look forward to, you've got the euros to look

:05:15. > :05:16.forward to in June. Yes, it's obviously something on the horizon

:05:17. > :05:20.which we can't wait for, something again which is the first time in

:05:21. > :05:24.Wales' history to get to a major tournament like that which is

:05:25. > :05:28.obviously brilliant. We are going there full of confidence. We know we

:05:29. > :05:33.can upset a few people and I can't wait to get started. Any thoughts on

:05:34. > :05:37.the group, Slovakia, Russia and England? It's an ideal group for us,

:05:38. > :05:40.it's a good thing we don't play England first. I think that's good,

:05:41. > :05:43.even though you can save that game for the middle and we can

:05:44. > :05:47.concentrate and focus on ourselves for the first game rather than the

:05:48. > :05:56.occasion being the first game, if that makes sense. We have a quality

:05:57. > :05:59.group of players, a quality squad, and we can go there and not just

:06:00. > :06:02.impress a few people but actually progress. I'm sure you get this

:06:03. > :06:06.question lots of times, what's it like playing with playing with the

:06:07. > :06:14.likes of Gareth Bale? It's early and, top class players who would get

:06:15. > :06:19.into any team in the European any time, but Leicester in the Champions

:06:20. > :06:24.League next year, it's the type of players we need to attract and fight

:06:25. > :06:31.off their challenge in the team. Thank you for talking to us. Thank

:06:32. > :06:35.you. A couple of weeks ago we featured the Welsh triathlete Helen

:06:36. > :06:39.Jenkins, a -- ahead of a race which was crucial to her hopes of making

:06:40. > :06:43.the Olympics. She had a terrific win on Australia's Gold Coast and today,

:06:44. > :06:49.British triathlon officially put her name forward for Rio. Christian

:06:50. > :06:55.Malcolm went to meet team Jenkins. From the Gold Coast in Australia

:06:56. > :06:58.back home to the South Wales coast, time for Helen Jenkins and her

:06:59. > :07:04.husband to reflect on what an outstanding performance.

:07:05. > :07:08.COMMENTATOR: Victory celebrations will begin for

:07:09. > :07:17.Helen Jenkins, who has had the race of her life. Helen, you had some

:07:18. > :07:21.good news this afternoon. Yes, I found out I have been nominated for

:07:22. > :07:25.British triathlon for the Rio team. I can start planning for real now.

:07:26. > :07:30.Let's go back to the Gold Coast, that fantastic race. Did you know

:07:31. > :07:35.that you were in that good a shape? I like to swim, bike and run hard

:07:36. > :07:39.and this race played into my hands. COMMENTATOR:

:07:40. > :07:43.When they make their way to the transition to find the bikes... She

:07:44. > :07:47.didn't swing that great, I didn't know where she was, she worked her

:07:48. > :07:51.way through and came out 13th, she got herself into a decent position

:07:52. > :07:54.but not a good position after the swim.

:07:55. > :07:57.COMMENTATOR: She has ambitions to compete in her

:07:58. > :08:05.third straight Olympics, continues to force the pace. The bike is where

:08:06. > :08:07.you did the real damage. It was never an intentional attack. I think

:08:08. > :08:12.there were three others who got away, myself, Andrea Hewitt and

:08:13. > :08:15.Flora Duffy, probably the three strongest in the different groups.

:08:16. > :08:19.We ended up with a app and it kept going out and out. We ended up

:08:20. > :08:26.having 90 seconds but you never discount last year's world champion,

:08:27. > :08:31.such a fast runner, she will catch me around five K. I wasn't thinking

:08:32. > :08:36.about winning at that point. I was thinking about running the best I

:08:37. > :08:43.could run. And Hayter who will be first to rise from transition? Helen

:08:44. > :08:46.Jenkins. I went past Mark, he said pace everything, it's hot, keep

:08:47. > :08:55.drinking. I have no place, just running. -- pace. It must be hard

:08:56. > :08:57.for you not just as a coach but the husband to be sat on the sidelines

:08:58. > :09:00.knowing what she's going through in the last few years and knowing if

:09:01. > :09:05.she gets through this now it could be at, on the plane? The hardest

:09:06. > :09:10.thing, you know what it's like being an athlete and now you know what

:09:11. > :09:13.it's like to be a coach. You have no control. What's going on, there's

:09:14. > :09:17.nothing I can do about it. It's horrible, isn't it?

:09:18. > :09:22.COMMENTATOR: Today looks like being Jenkins' Day

:09:23. > :09:28.on the Gold Coast. About 800 metres to go, I knew I had got this and I

:09:29. > :09:34.was able to enjoy the last bit. The smile is broad, relief is obvious.

:09:35. > :09:39.Jenkins takes the victory. I haven't felt in that good shape for probably

:09:40. > :09:44.four years, even though when we finished and we went to go up on the

:09:45. > :09:47.podium and I was like, I've got to stand up on the top, I kept

:09:48. > :09:51.expecting someone else to get up there. It made the last few years of

:09:52. > :09:55.sticking with triathlon and keeping on trying worth it. We don't want to

:09:56. > :09:58.go into Rio with the any expectations. We weren't expecting

:09:59. > :10:02.her to get there, we weren't expecting her to perform as well as

:10:03. > :10:11.she did on the weekend. It was a fantastic performance. We've already

:10:12. > :10:15.had a good year, so whatever happens from this point of a bonus. I'd love

:10:16. > :10:18.to get to the start line fit and have a good block of training. That

:10:19. > :10:22.would be ideal. I didn't get a chance to do that in London, so I'd

:10:23. > :10:25.love to get their fit and see what I could do. Staying with the Olympics

:10:26. > :10:29.because more and more athletes being named for Rio, the British when team

:10:30. > :10:30.has been selected, so can the Welsh contingent help bring home the

:10:31. > :10:43.medals? Bath, a city with a rich history and

:10:44. > :10:48.culture. I am here to meet the Welsh swimmers hoping to win gold for

:10:49. > :10:53.Britain. There will be four Welsh swimmers travelling to Rio as part

:10:54. > :11:00.of the 26- strong GB team. Chloe Tutton was the surprise inclusion.

:11:01. > :11:04.Jazz Carlin finally makes it after missing London 2012. Missing out in

:11:05. > :11:08.London was tough for me, my family and everyone that has seen me

:11:09. > :11:12.through my career. The home Olympics only comes once-in-a-lifetime. I

:11:13. > :11:22.gave it one more shot and thought I would throw everything at it.

:11:23. > :11:28.COMMENTATOR: She has done it by a third of a second. To finally have

:11:29. > :11:33.that confirmation, to be on that team, my head is in the clouds, I am

:11:34. > :11:39.over the moon. The Olympics comes every four years. It is a long wait.

:11:40. > :11:44.She swam for a long time with Rebecca Adlington. She has now

:11:45. > :11:49.retired. It was a hard slog for Jazz to stay on it and she has got better

:11:50. > :11:53.and she is much more resilient than in the past, and that has been

:11:54. > :11:59.credit to her and the team working with her. We are chuffed for her.

:12:00. > :12:04.The 19-year-old Chloe Tutton, making the team came as a shock. She broke

:12:05. > :12:10.the British 200 metres breaststroke record in the trials and now has a

:12:11. > :12:13.shot at the big time. It is surreal. I have dreamt of this moment but I

:12:14. > :12:18.am so proud to have achieved something like this. I did not

:12:19. > :12:23.expected. You always get a few shocks, people who you think will

:12:24. > :12:30.not make team and they do, and some seasoned campaigners who sadly fall

:12:31. > :12:33.away. She was one of the shocks. World-class, a massive improvement,

:12:34. > :12:39.a British record. She and her coach got it right on the day. She is a

:12:40. > :12:43.great girl and has a good future in front of her. Other swimmers to make

:12:44. > :12:50.the team are 50 metres Commonwealth champion George Davies, and Euan

:12:51. > :12:57.Lloyd, who also competed in London 2012. It is their turn to start

:12:58. > :13:01.dreaming of gold. My first Olympics, so exciting, a competition I have

:13:02. > :13:03.never been to before. I have that excitement and drive to do

:13:04. > :13:08.everything in training and work really hard. I will throw everything

:13:09. > :13:13.at it and will have no regrets going into Rio. Everyone has dreams, but I

:13:14. > :13:20.will make sure I do everything I can until then. It is a very lean and

:13:21. > :13:25.mean team, and these girls are part of that. Jazz is a world-class, with

:13:26. > :13:29.medals at the World Championships. Both the girls will have to be at

:13:30. > :13:35.their best on the day. I just want to go faster. I always want more. I

:13:36. > :13:40.will push myself and see what I can do. Everyone in the team knows they

:13:41. > :13:45.are in with a chance of a medal. Both of them are great. Chloe is on

:13:46. > :13:51.an improving curve, so we expect she can go faster. Jazz is always within

:13:52. > :13:56.range. Both of them have a great chance. Confidence seems pretty high

:13:57. > :14:02.in the squad. Who knows how many gold medals they can bring home?

:14:03. > :14:06.Boxing is a sport where Wales has not done so well down the years.

:14:07. > :14:11.Just two Welsh men have won medals at the Games, but could we get a

:14:12. > :14:18.third this summer? Well, Joe Cordina certainly hopes so. The dream is

:14:19. > :14:29.going and winning gold. -- scoring a winning goal. The dream is scoring

:14:30. > :14:34.the winning try. The dream is winning Olympic gold. But you've got

:14:35. > :14:50.to get there first. COMMENTATOR: Sharpshooting off the

:14:51. > :14:53.back foot very well, Joe Cordina, number two seat, reigning European

:14:54. > :15:00.Championship gold medallist, ranked number eight in the world. Joe

:15:01. > :15:04.Cordina is through to Rio 2016. The main thing for me was getting the

:15:05. > :15:08.qualifying spot and putting the pressure of qualifying behind me and

:15:09. > :15:14.setting a new goal, which is to bring back an Olympic gold medal

:15:15. > :15:19.back to Cardiff. I believe I can beat anyone on my day. I truly

:15:20. > :15:24.believe that. I can out box them completely. If I have to get thrown

:15:25. > :15:36.into a fight, so be it. This is my father, Joe Senior. Beagle Little

:15:37. > :15:40.Jo. He was rugby, football mad. Rugby was his main sport and he

:15:41. > :15:44.loved it. I never thought in my mind for him to box in any shape or form

:15:45. > :15:48.until one day he saw a couple of boys running and he said, what are

:15:49. > :15:53.they doing? I said, they are boxing. He said, can I have a go, because

:15:54. > :15:58.the rugby season was over, just to keep fit. I said, no one can help

:15:59. > :16:14.you in there. That was it, he made his decision to box. When was that?

:16:15. > :16:25.I haven't got my glasses? Sean, Zach. I started going when I was

:16:26. > :16:34.about 15, 16. To be honest, I did not want to fight. I just wanted to

:16:35. > :16:41.say, I am a boxer. I go to a gym. I had one, and it led to two. That led

:16:42. > :16:50.to three, and so on. What is it like watching him? Nervous. I do get

:16:51. > :16:58.really bad stomach. I just shake. She can't even speak. It is

:16:59. > :17:01.different, because I hear her voice screaming. Get off the ropes, get

:17:02. > :17:39.off the ropes! Get your hands up! Where's dad? Come on. Clap hands,

:17:40. > :17:51.clap hands. Yes! Daddy! This is my daughter, Sofia, a little angel.

:17:52. > :17:55.This is why I do it. I push myself in the gym every day. She is the

:17:56. > :18:03.reason. Before it was for fun, but now I have to do it for her and make

:18:04. > :18:16.a better life for her. This is what it takes. On three, everyone say

:18:17. > :18:26.cheese. Cheese. Three, two, one, cheese. He said on three, and then

:18:27. > :18:33.he said three, two, one, cheese. How many punches have you had? Dear me!

:18:34. > :18:45.That is down to the boxing, that is. On three. No, on one. I am going to

:18:46. > :18:47.go one, two, three. On three. Everyone say cheese. One, two,

:18:48. > :19:01.three, cheese. The women's Welsh elite has been

:19:02. > :19:08.dominated for the past two seasons by Cardiff met. Last night they

:19:09. > :19:12.played their final game of the seizing, where a win or a draw would

:19:13. > :19:16.guarantee a third successive title and a place in the Champions League.

:19:17. > :19:24.Cathy Williams went to get the secret behind their success.

:19:25. > :19:27.Cardiff met is known for sporting excellence but it is its success on

:19:28. > :19:33.the football pitch which has been making headlines. The women's

:19:34. > :19:37.football team are one game away from defending their league title. They

:19:38. > :19:41.are a student -based team, currently sitting top of the table in the

:19:42. > :19:45.Welsh league. It is a big thing for us and for the university, and it

:19:46. > :19:51.adds to the sporting profile, which goes back years. So for us to do it

:19:52. > :19:57.for the third time in a row, I think is something special and will be

:19:58. > :20:03.celebrated throughout. Tonight, Cyncoed Ladies, they are like your

:20:04. > :20:06.next-door neighbours. They are. They are the closest team geographically.

:20:07. > :20:11.I would not say it is a derby, but they are on our doorstep and there

:20:12. > :20:18.is a good relationship between the clubs. That said, it will be a

:20:19. > :20:22.competitive match. I think particularly this season it would be

:20:23. > :20:26.nice to win on points. Last season we left it to goal difference and we

:20:27. > :20:30.were waiting around for a few weeks at the end of the season, which was

:20:31. > :20:34.a weird feeling. We are really up for tonight and hopefully we can get

:20:35. > :20:41.three points and qualify for the Champions League, which is always an

:20:42. > :20:42.amazing experience. Going into the game as strong favourites, they

:20:43. > :21:28.certainly didn't disappoint. You have done the hard work but you

:21:29. > :21:33.have to do a lot more hard work. This half is not about scoring

:21:34. > :21:37.goals, OK, it is about putting out a performance, about you putting in

:21:38. > :21:38.the best 45 minutes you have had all season, because this is your last

:21:39. > :22:21.game. We were not as clinical as we would

:22:22. > :22:27.have liked to have been in front of goal in parts. That said, 6-0,

:22:28. > :22:30.against a decent side, we are really pleased. We were not bothered about

:22:31. > :22:36.the scoreline. We were bothered about three points. It is nice to

:22:37. > :22:39.win it here. We have never won it at home. We look on now to the

:22:40. > :22:44.Champions League and start preparations for that. The first

:22:45. > :22:47.time is a great feeling, the second and third time it is really special

:22:48. > :22:53.and I am very proud of what the girls have achieved. It is testament

:22:54. > :22:55.to their hard work and the expertise they have behind them in terms of

:22:56. > :23:06.sports science support. It is by far the biggest game of the

:23:07. > :23:10.season for the Newport Gwent Dragons, but they go into it rocked

:23:11. > :23:14.by the departure of their director of rugby. So can they overcome that

:23:15. > :23:23.to reach the final of the European challenge cup, as they head to

:23:24. > :23:27.France to face Montpelier. A fortnight ago, against the

:23:28. > :23:30.reigning holders who had won their last 15 matches, no one gave the

:23:31. > :23:37.Dragons a chance, but they ripped up the form book. What a win for the

:23:38. > :23:41.Dragons, and they are in the semifinal of the Challenge Cup, the

:23:42. > :23:44.only Welsh team in Europe. One of the best I have been involved in and

:23:45. > :23:49.one of the best the Dragons have had in recent years. We have lost in the

:23:50. > :23:54.last few minutes on many occasions. This time, we got the opportunity to

:23:55. > :24:00.go to the corner and finished with a try. Relief for everyone. A great

:24:01. > :24:05.confidence boost for us. No one expected it, we were underdogs.

:24:06. > :24:08.Director of rugby Lynne Jones was not that the game and in his

:24:09. > :24:13.continued absence the inevitable became reality this week. Newport

:24:14. > :24:18.Gwent Dragons have parted company with their director of company,

:24:19. > :24:22.Lynne Jones, through mutual consent. Has it changed things, added

:24:23. > :24:28.pressure, being the sole man in charge? Not really. In the last ten

:24:29. > :24:31.years, I have been in charge for six or seven myself so I understand the

:24:32. > :24:35.responsibility of the role. It is second nature. I lead lots of

:24:36. > :24:39.training sessions anyway and the players have cracked on as if

:24:40. > :24:44.nothing has changed. But after the high of Europe it is back down to

:24:45. > :24:51.the pro 12, with a 16th defeat in 20 games coming at Arms Park. We made

:24:52. > :24:55.too many mistakes. We had opportunities to score. Not the

:24:56. > :25:00.perfect day for us. We will take positives but quickly move on.

:25:01. > :25:03.Amidst the doom and gloom in the league, the European challenge cup

:25:04. > :25:08.has been a lifeline for the Dragons to show a different, more positive

:25:09. > :25:12.attitude. There are no perceptions. We play with an open spirit.

:25:13. > :25:18.Sometimes against bigger teams in Europe, as long as you can manage

:25:19. > :25:21.set pieces, it hurts them. Montpelier are a big, strong side

:25:22. > :25:27.and we will be trying to move them around. If you like, South Africa

:25:28. > :25:35.against Japan, and we are Japan. There are South Africans in the

:25:36. > :25:42.team. We know Jake from super rugby level. We know how he is planning

:25:43. > :25:47.and what type of game plan they play, so we have to match up. They

:25:48. > :25:51.have a wealth of experience in key positions and it will be great to

:25:52. > :25:55.challenge ourselves against them. It is always nice playing against the

:25:56. > :25:59.best. It will be a huge challenge but definitely one we relish. Last

:26:00. > :26:04.year we lost in the semifinal so it would be great to win. You never

:26:05. > :26:10.play rugby just to contribute, you play to win. It would be massive and

:26:11. > :26:15.would go a long way to changing this sometimes disappointing season

:26:16. > :26:20.around. Teams do not make semifinal of the European cup two years on the

:26:21. > :26:25.trot by coincidence. It is because we deserve to be there. The best of

:26:26. > :26:31.luck to the Dragons in France. Tunisian to radio Wales for live

:26:32. > :26:37.coverage of all the big games across the weekend. -- Tunisian. We are

:26:38. > :26:40.back next Friday, but for tonight, from all of us, goodbye for now.
