:00:21. > :00:29.Good evening. Two Euro 2016 warm up games for Wales and a world

:00:30. > :00:33.superstar running through the streets of Cardiff, not a bad Easter

:00:34. > :00:38.weekend of sport by head! Here's what's coming up. The Euro is less

:00:39. > :00:43.than three months away, we sit down with Chris Coleman ahead of two key

:00:44. > :00:47.friendlies. You're playing for your country. I don't expect it to be a

:00:48. > :00:53.timid affair and I don't want it to be one. Danny Gabbidon goes for a

:00:54. > :01:00.catch up with the captain. We've got to try and make sure we get the job

:01:01. > :01:06.done because we are a good team. The world half Marathon comes to the

:01:07. > :01:10.capital along with one of the greatest athletes on the planet.

:01:11. > :01:15.Hopefully they will be cheering my name and hopefully will make a big

:01:16. > :01:24.difference. Mo Farah can run a half in less than an hour, so we

:01:25. > :01:30.challenged Gavin Rhys Owen to do it quicker in traffic. Surely there's

:01:31. > :01:37.only one winner? It's neck and neck! And we catch up with one of Welsh

:01:38. > :01:42.netball's rising stars. I've got some goals and the next World Cup is

:01:43. > :01:45.definitely in my reach, so I will be doing everything to get there. But

:01:46. > :01:51.only one place to start and that is with the man who tonight takes

:01:52. > :01:56.charge of Wales's final home game before Euro 2016, Chris Coleman. A

:01:57. > :01:59.warm welcome to Sport Wales. I'm guessing this week getting the squad

:02:00. > :02:03.back together again for the first time since the autumn, there must be

:02:04. > :02:08.a real sense of excitement with the Euros just around the corner? There

:02:09. > :02:16.is, yeah. If you look at our players who have been at their respective

:02:17. > :02:19.club who have maybe not been starting readily, they are starting

:02:20. > :02:22.to go on loan so they can get the chance to play regular football and

:02:23. > :02:26.be in the best physical shape the old enough to when we named the 23

:02:27. > :02:31.for the summer. Credit to them for that. Some of the lads in this camp

:02:32. > :02:36.have not been with us for a while will stop its a good chance for them

:02:37. > :02:41.to get a feel of it again. The Northern Ireland game will a tough

:02:42. > :02:44.one. They have done an unbelievable job to qualify. Michael O'Neill has

:02:45. > :02:48.done a great job. There is always something on it when you're playing

:02:49. > :02:53.for your country. Identity spectator be a timid affair and I don't want

:02:54. > :02:56.it to be a timid affair. Once we put that to bed, we will start

:02:57. > :03:01.immediately concentrating on the next one which will be Ukraine. Two

:03:02. > :03:06.different games, two different challenges for us. The crowd will be

:03:07. > :03:09.disappointed there is no Gareth Bale out there as well as Aaron Ramsey

:03:10. > :03:12.this evening, but I guess the fact that he has just had his second baby

:03:13. > :03:19.daughter vindicates your decision not to involve him in this, doesn't

:03:20. > :03:23.it? He needs that rest. We need him to have that rest because we need

:03:24. > :03:28.him coming into the summer to be peaking rather than feeling tired.

:03:29. > :03:33.He has had a couple of difficult months with injury and of course,

:03:34. > :03:37.like you said, his wife gave birth yesterday. So there is a lot going

:03:38. > :03:41.on for Gareth at the minute. With the new baby he won't be getting on

:03:42. > :03:47.a private jet and flying in for this one! I don't think he will. He

:03:48. > :03:51.normally does, if he is not fit to play he normally has a few days with

:03:52. > :03:56.us. But he has got bigger priorities at the moment and we understand

:03:57. > :04:01.that. In terms of the Euros and the planning for the Euros, you have

:04:02. > :04:05.been out to France several times. Are you happy with how it's all

:04:06. > :04:09.looking out there in terms of facilities and venues, stadiums?

:04:10. > :04:14.Yes, we went to see the stadiums and get a feel for the dressing rooms.

:04:15. > :04:18.The different towns where we're playing, the Hotel where we will be

:04:19. > :04:25.staying at prior to the games. It looks fantastic, to be fair. We test

:04:26. > :04:30.it before it happens in the summer. That was important for us, as

:04:31. > :04:34.representing Wales in a major tournament is the biggest honour we

:04:35. > :04:39.can have. We're going there to enjoy it. We also want to make sure we

:04:40. > :04:43.succeed and we make a fist of it. You talk about all the Hoo hah

:04:44. > :04:47.around it and there will be a huge amount of hype, but there is a lot

:04:48. > :04:53.of speculation about your future as well. You've been linked with

:04:54. > :04:56.Swansea and Aston Villa. Out of about that? Two years ago at the end

:04:57. > :05:01.of the last campaign my contract was coming to an end and I wasn't being

:05:02. > :05:04.linked with anybody! It wasn't a fruitful campaign. This time around

:05:05. > :05:09.it has been great and my contract has not been decided, so I have been

:05:10. > :05:12.linked with clubs. You know that's going to happen. When you're an

:05:13. > :05:17.international manager, you missed the day-to-day stuff. You have less

:05:18. > :05:19.control because the players are not yours, you are borrowing them from

:05:20. > :05:24.the clubs. You're always chasing round to get a squad together

:05:25. > :05:29.because it's so difficult. When you are out club manager, you can affect

:05:30. > :05:33.things everyday. You do miss that. That's not to say that when I'm

:05:34. > :05:37.standing on the touchline as manager of Wales and it is a full house,

:05:38. > :05:40.that feeling is not something you want to give up easily, I promise

:05:41. > :05:46.you. It's been an absolute honour to manage Wales. I'm in a privileged

:05:47. > :05:51.position and it's not something I want to give up easily. Equally,

:05:52. > :05:55.things need to be right. At the moment I can't stop speculation, all

:05:56. > :05:59.I can do is control myself and my group and make sure they are

:06:00. > :06:08.prepared. Finally coming you had the manic Street preachers at the camp

:06:09. > :06:13.is recording a song, together stronger, for Wales. They were

:06:14. > :06:15.brilliant. Such big football fans and really humbling, really down to

:06:16. > :06:21.earth. We had a great laugh with them. We were trying to sink!

:06:22. > :06:25.Hopefully those guys can do great work and make it look a lot better

:06:26. > :06:34.than it was from our point of view. The Manics were first class, they

:06:35. > :06:37.were brilliant, but we weren't so good! Well, all the best against

:06:38. > :06:47.Ukraine. Still to come tonight, the man

:06:48. > :06:50.inspiring thousands of miners this weekend, Mo Farah on running the

:06:51. > :07:01.Royal Half weekend, Mo Farah on running the

:07:02. > :07:04.netball. My guess this evening is the former Wales international Danny

:07:05. > :07:09.Gabbidon. We know there is one big name missing tonight for Wales

:07:10. > :07:15.against Northern Ireland, Gareth Bale. But who is this? Danny

:07:16. > :07:20.Gabbidon! Still on this mural. Because you are still part of the

:07:21. > :07:25.squad at the start of the Euro 2016 campaign. Have you got your boots

:07:26. > :07:27.just in case? Yes, always leave them in the boot of the car, you never

:07:28. > :09:07.know what in the boot of the car, you never

:09:08. > :09:11.job lightly but he does miss the day-to-day involvement of club

:09:12. > :09:16.management, what you make of that? I think most managers would say the

:09:17. > :09:21.same. But he has done a fantastic job. Two years ago, no one really

:09:22. > :09:25.wanted him, as he said, and it shows how opinions can change in a short

:09:26. > :09:29.space of time and rightly so. Clubs are interested in him now because he

:09:30. > :09:34.has done a fantastic job with this set of players. It's a difficult

:09:35. > :09:38.decision going forward, I'm sure. We will talk more later on and also

:09:39. > :09:43.find out what happened when you caught up with an old friend. I

:09:44. > :09:50.think it's another chance... LAUGHTER

:09:51. > :09:54.I know what the question is! I know what's coming! No you don't. I do!

:09:55. > :10:07.LAUGHTER So, on Saturday thousands of runners

:10:08. > :10:12.will make their way across the barrage here in Cardiff Bay and

:10:13. > :10:29.weave their way through the streets of the capital for the World Half

:10:30. > :10:34.Marathon championship. Among them the champion Mo Farah.

:10:35. > :10:39.I'm really excited to be taking part in the World Half Marathon. It's

:10:40. > :10:47.going to be my first half marathon and what a place to do it, in

:10:48. > :10:52.Cardiff, so exciting. The guys will push along and I can just sit back

:10:53. > :10:56.and get the home crowd, the support of the home nation. It makes a big

:10:57. > :11:01.difference. It's going to being credible to have so many people

:11:02. > :11:07.taking part. It's an elite race but the rest of the guys are just

:11:08. > :11:15.running for fun. It's a great chance to talk to them and cheer for them.

:11:16. > :11:18.Hopefully they will be on the streets of Cardiff and everywhere

:11:19. > :11:22.cheering my name and hopefully it will make a big difference. It would

:11:23. > :11:27.be amazing if I could add to my collection, another global medal

:11:28. > :11:31.would be amazing. I have not done a half marathon before, so it will be

:11:32. > :11:36.my first one. If I win, it will be another title, hopefully. Mo Farah

:11:37. > :11:41.is coming to Cardiff and the race will start just outside the castle.

:11:42. > :11:49.We will head down towards Penarth, I crossed the barrage, around the lake

:11:50. > :11:54.and finished by the Civic Centre. Mo will take an hour, not as quick as a

:11:55. > :11:59.taxi, I would say, but what about eight taxi in the city during rush

:12:00. > :12:07.hour keeping to the speed limit? I think there's only one way to put

:12:08. > :12:18.this to the test. Let's have a race. Drive? Follow that Mo!

:12:19. > :12:29.Just passing the Cardiff City Stadium. Six minutes 27 seconds on

:12:30. > :12:34.my watch. Three miles is touch and go, actually. Mo Farah will be doing

:12:35. > :12:38.splits of four minutes 40, and we have a straight run as we speak.

:12:39. > :12:46.This is the only uphill section on the whole course, which means most

:12:47. > :12:49.of it is flat. We've put a good field of runners together like at

:12:50. > :12:53.the weekend and they will be close to the hour or just under. For your

:12:54. > :12:59.club runner it's a still significantly fast course. Scenic

:13:00. > :13:04.horizons which is very important and the crowds will make it a great

:13:05. > :13:17.place to be on Saturday afternoon. 18 and a half minutes, four Miles,

:13:18. > :13:21.it's neck and neck. The barrage. It's when the burnt kicks in for

:13:22. > :13:25.many of the fun runners and frustratingly they will know that

:13:26. > :13:32.the winners may have finished by then. That's the amazing thing about

:13:33. > :13:39.the Cardiff half marathon. Technically you are in the same race

:13:40. > :13:43.as Mo Farah, an amateur can run against the world champion. I'm

:13:44. > :13:53.running my first half marathon and I'm very excited but also a little

:13:54. > :13:58.bit petrified! I'm going for the fastest half marathon record dressed

:13:59. > :14:03.as Superman! I have never run this far before, only started running in

:14:04. > :14:07.April last year, so a year ago thinking I was going to run a half

:14:08. > :14:11.marathon, I wouldn't have even considered it! You can make it

:14:12. > :14:14.whatever you wanted to be really. For some it will be about getting

:14:15. > :14:19.round the course and for others it will be about getting certain time.

:14:20. > :14:25.I'm very proud of myself for considering it and if I finish it, I

:14:26. > :14:33.will be over the moon. We could actually do with a Tardis! Now we

:14:34. > :14:39.have hit another snag. It's just delaying us.

:14:40. > :14:47.Mo is flying, but we are stalling. I had a good run from the wharf, dual

:14:48. > :14:51.carriageway, straight run, lucky with traffic, so we are catching up

:14:52. > :14:56.with Mo game. Straight on, follow that transit van, stay in the left

:14:57. > :15:02.lane and straight across Newport road. We turn left on this one and

:15:03. > :15:07.then it is a straight run. The runners will have stewards and guide

:15:08. > :15:15.marks all the way. We haven't got that. We've got to rely on maps. It

:15:16. > :15:19.is even been collection day. This is really close, 45 minutes, nine and a

:15:20. > :15:27.half miles and I think we might do it. The lake is absolutely stunning.

:15:28. > :15:31.The one thing that really hits you doing this is the amazing scenery

:15:32. > :15:40.that Cardiff has to offer, and the world will see these views. I think

:15:41. > :15:43.over 50 countries are being represented in the mass raids, and

:15:44. > :15:52.TV pictures will be beamed around the world. -- the mass race. It is

:15:53. > :15:57.the best spotlight you can have. I can't believe it, we have had a

:15:58. > :16:01.straight run past the lake. What has happened to the traffic? I don't

:16:02. > :16:08.know, but happy days. One mile to go and seven minutes to do it. We are

:16:09. > :16:16.going to win! We are going to do it! DRIVER HONKS HORN

:16:17. > :16:21.Come on! We are literally there, three, 400 metres away. Why we

:16:22. > :16:25.haven't moved for the last three minutes, I don't know. It is

:16:26. > :16:31.literally round the corner there. Right at the last minute, Cardiff

:16:32. > :16:52.traffic is going to scupper us. Oh, here we go! Left here... Six, seven,

:16:53. > :17:00.eight, nine... No! We've lost! One-hour, 11 seconds. We just missed

:17:01. > :17:05.out, because Mo Farah's British record is 59 minutes 32. The world

:17:06. > :17:09.record is another minute faster. As for the mere mortals, they will get

:17:10. > :17:13.to the finishing line in a bit longer, but I tell you one thing,

:17:14. > :17:17.they will have a blast. The welcome will be fantastic and the scenery is

:17:18. > :17:24.great. As for me, well, I reckon I could do it again.

:17:25. > :17:29.The Celtic Dragons are the only Welsh team in a competitive netball

:17:30. > :17:34.super league. Despite a narrow defeat to Loughborough- lightning

:17:35. > :17:36.earlier this week, they possess a big threat, bigger than most.

:17:37. > :17:38.I'm Georgia Rowe, I'm six foot five and I play

:17:39. > :17:53.Through school, I was always known as the tall one and it had quite

:17:54. > :17:59.I knew my mum and dad were discussing things that

:18:00. > :18:03.could maybe turn it into a positive and get me a bit more confidence,

:18:04. > :18:11.I remember going to my first Celtic Dragons game when I hadn't

:18:12. > :18:16.had any trials, and I was amazed watching the game.

:18:17. > :18:19.I got in contact with the coach and was asked to go down

:18:20. > :18:23.I sat in with a training session with the seniors.

:18:24. > :18:28.Because of my age, I went straight into the under-19s.

:18:29. > :18:31.It was a massive surprise how quickly it happened.

:18:32. > :18:34.I didn't even play netball at school so when it all started and picked up

:18:35. > :18:40.I had a year as a goalkeeper when I first started.

:18:41. > :18:42.It's definitely helpful, being able to have the experience

:18:43. > :18:45.at both ends, because, as a shooter, I know what my defence

:18:46. > :18:55.She's certainly catching up in some aspects, as she came to the sport

:18:56. > :19:01.Height is an advantage, particularly in the shooting circle,

:19:02. > :19:05.but it's what you do with that height that is the key,

:19:06. > :19:08.so using that height to the best of its advantage is what Georgia

:19:09. > :19:14.People think the closer you are to be net, the easier it is,

:19:15. > :19:17.which isn't the case because it all comes down to technique

:19:18. > :19:22.She has worked very hard on her shooting technique.

:19:23. > :19:24.I have had more court time this season than ever.

:19:25. > :19:27.I played for Celtic Dragons two years ago, missed out

:19:28. > :19:32.on the opportunity last year, but I am the main shooter or one

:19:33. > :19:38.It is a lot of pressure, having to get those last shots

:19:39. > :19:45.We took her to the World Cup obviously last year.

:19:46. > :19:48.I don't think Georgia expected too much court time,

:19:49. > :19:52.and we were able to actually put her on the court far more

:19:53. > :19:59.Even getting on for a quarter here, a quarter there, you learn so much,

:20:00. > :20:01.and that is the main competition that has

:20:02. > :20:08.By performing well on the court, I am hoping to inspire girls out

:20:09. > :20:11.there who watch the sport and play it in schools.

:20:12. > :20:17.The experiences that I have had have made me so much more determined,

:20:18. > :20:25.I've definitely got some goals I'm aiming for.

:20:26. > :20:27.The Commonwealth Games and the next World Cup are definitely

:20:28. > :20:44.in my reach, so I'll be doing everything to get there.

:20:45. > :20:50.Right, back to the big game, Wales against Northern Ireland, coming up

:20:51. > :20:55.right after this programme. Danny Gabbidon caught up with an old

:20:56. > :21:13.friend and former Wales team-mate, the skipper, Ashley Williams.

:21:14. > :21:22.Great to see you, my friend, looking forward to this week? It should be

:21:23. > :21:26.good, I think. We had a couple of good sessions. Nice to see the boys

:21:27. > :21:30.again, after not seeing them for a long time. Always nice to get back

:21:31. > :21:37.on the pitch was not a couple of boys are out, so it is a chance...

:21:38. > :21:45.Sorry,! I've never seen you like this before. What was the question?

:21:46. > :21:57.I don't even remember... I know what the question is. Is this another

:21:58. > :22:08.question? You set to move on. Come on, I'm on it, man. Oh, come on.

:22:09. > :22:14.Obviously, no Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey, but it was a similar

:22:15. > :22:17.situation in the last friendly against Holland and the team

:22:18. > :22:23.performed well, so does that give the squad a lot of confidence? I

:22:24. > :22:26.think so. We have missed some players before and everybody that

:22:27. > :22:31.has come in has done well, so we will be looking for something

:22:32. > :22:34.similar. When you play against another home nation, you always want

:22:35. > :22:38.to win it especially. It is not a throwaway game and we will be

:22:39. > :22:45.wanting to get two wind out of the next two games. With 2016 drawing

:22:46. > :22:50.ever closer, have you allowed yourself to have one eye on the

:22:51. > :22:54.summer? A bit, it is at the back of my mind will stop with the Premier

:22:55. > :22:59.League season, it is difficult to take your mind off that. It is such

:23:00. > :23:05.a big thing. All of the guys are thinking about it a bit. You have

:23:06. > :23:10.had some good moments for Swansea as a captain and some recent good

:23:11. > :23:15.moments in a Wales shirt captain. Would walk out on that pitch, first

:23:16. > :23:21.game against Slovakia, major tournament on the world stage, would

:23:22. > :23:25.that dwarf any previous achievement? I think so. It's probably the

:23:26. > :23:30.proudest moment in my career. I don't see how you can top that,

:23:31. > :23:34.especially the first game but it will be massive. Knowing how many

:23:35. > :23:39.people are watching back home, it is something I think is important for

:23:40. > :23:43.us to enjoy and not feel too pressurised. We worked hard enough

:23:44. > :23:47.to get their so we have to enjoy it but, at the same time, to try and

:23:48. > :23:53.get the job done, because we are a good team and we can go far. What

:23:54. > :23:58.constitutes a good tournament for Wales? Getting out of the group

:23:59. > :24:01.stages? We would like to get out of the group stages. It's difficult,

:24:02. > :24:07.because we have no experience to think of what we did last time, so

:24:08. > :24:10.just trying to get as far as we can, whether that is to get out of the

:24:11. > :24:15.group stages. It would be nice to definitely do that and see where it

:24:16. > :24:18.goes. You have seen smaller nations progress really far before in

:24:19. > :24:23.tournaments, so we will be trying to follow some of those nations and

:24:24. > :24:31.drag it out as long as it can go. You have got -- if you look at what

:24:32. > :24:34.we stayed in a few years ago, the Premier League this season, very
