:00:28. > :00:36.It is another bumper weekend of sport. Here that the liberty stadium

:00:36. > :00:43.they are looking forward to welcoming Arsenal. For all the best

:00:43. > :00:52.build-up, look no further. Welcome to Sport Wales. Wilfried Bony has

:00:52. > :01:03.high hopes for the season. Top five or six. A new event in the world of

:01:03. > :01:06.extreme sport comes to Wales. England international Steven Caulker

:01:06. > :01:12.is convinced that Cardiff will stay in the top flight. We have belief

:01:12. > :01:21.that we can establish ourselves as a Premier league club. In a summer

:01:21. > :01:28.full of record transfers, Michael Laudrup spent £21 million. £12

:01:28. > :01:33.million went on a 24-year-old from the Ivory Coast who was the Dutch

:01:33. > :01:46.foot wall of the year. I am talking about Wilfried Bony. -- Dutch foot

:01:46. > :01:50.hole of the year. I am a quiet guy. Do not talk too much. I am from

:01:50. > :02:04.Ivory Coast. There was a football everywhere. In 2003 I said to my

:02:04. > :02:11.parents, I want to play football. Don't pay the school, don't pay

:02:11. > :02:18.nothing, I want to play football. You will that confident? There was a

:02:18. > :02:25.little bit of fighting between him and me! But now my father is very

:02:25. > :02:35.happy and proud of me. I made a difficult choice. Almost nine years

:02:35. > :02:41.later. After scoring 31 goals last season in the Dutch league he was

:02:41. > :02:45.linked with a move to several clubs. But another Premier league start

:02:45. > :02:55.from the Ivory Coast helped him decide. He knows the way I play. He

:02:55. > :03:02.said, it is good for you. Swansea city is a very interesting team. I

:03:02. > :03:13.like the way they play. My team-mates? I like everybody. Some

:03:13. > :03:23.of them speak French. How welcoming has Michu been? Much has been made

:03:23. > :03:30.of your partnership. He is an important player for the team.

:03:30. > :03:38.Everybody knows it. What is it like playing with him, difficult? Not at

:03:38. > :03:43.all. I know how he plays and he knows how I play. We will get to

:03:43. > :03:48.know each other more and do even better things in the games. How many

:03:48. > :04:01.goals can you get this season you think? I don't know. But it is very

:04:01. > :04:10.important to me to score every game. Wilfried Bony Mark says Premier

:04:10. > :04:20.league debut with the call! -- marks as Premier league debut with a goal.

:04:20. > :04:33.We can you finish this year? Top five of six is possible. What about

:04:33. > :04:35.that defeat to Birmingham? We tried to gain confidence but after going

:04:35. > :04:49.behind it was very difficult to come back. This weekend Swansea face

:04:49. > :04:57.Arsenal. Arsene Wenger Has been impressed with the Swans. Everybody

:04:57. > :05:03.expects them to be in the top seven or eight and they have the quality

:05:03. > :05:11.to do that. A very good team. What about Arsenal, they are flying? They

:05:11. > :05:17.are playing well, but we are at home. Everything is possible. You

:05:17. > :05:27.speak a number of languages, but how is your Welsh? I know nothing yet!

:05:27. > :05:33.Everybody speaks English though so it is good for me to understand the

:05:33. > :05:43.team and players. Let me teach you won the word that will come in

:05:43. > :05:51.handy. -- the one word. Thank you. Good luck against Arsenal.

:05:51. > :05:57.On the programme for the last year we have covered by an man,

:05:57. > :06:08.triathlons, extremist sailing, and Cliff diving. -- iron man. Now a new

:06:08. > :06:13.extreme sport. It visited Wales for the first time. We went along to see

:06:13. > :06:15.what it was all about on the rolling, restful hills of the risk

:06:15. > :06:39.Valley. -- Usk. Instead of running on roads do you

:06:39. > :06:48.fancy a new challenge? You just need to sign a form, or a death waiver,

:06:48. > :06:53.and you're good to go. Put simply, this is a hard-core 12 male course

:06:53. > :06:59.designed by the special forces to test your all-round strength,

:06:59. > :07:04.stamina, and camaraderie. It has grown very fast. We will have done

:07:04. > :07:16.54 events across the world, sixth in the UK. Lots of people take place.

:07:16. > :07:21.-- part. It is the people and atmosphere. You get such a wide

:07:21. > :07:26.variety of society. People doing it for different reasons. Those who

:07:26. > :07:32.want to challenge themselves and those who are getting over a

:07:32. > :07:40.barrier. It spurs on people to keep living a healthier life. Half

:07:40. > :07:46.marathons get a bit boring. We just fancied more of a challenge. Many

:07:46. > :07:54.competitors dress up and some taken more than others. We decided to

:07:54. > :08:02.dress in these coloured tops, sunglasses and a hat! Everybody

:08:02. > :08:18.point to the sky. I can overcome all feels! -- fears. Let's do this!

:08:18. > :08:30.Competitors stay clean for roughly one oil and then it is time to get

:08:30. > :08:34.and 30. -- one mile. It is pushing the mind. Getting out of your

:08:34. > :08:44.comfort zone. People are apprehensive. Can I do this? That is

:08:44. > :08:49.the thought process. This is a spat comes within the first three males

:08:49. > :09:00.and really does take the breath away. -- ice bath. You really feel

:09:00. > :09:07.it. It breaks up the challenge. But the running in between? You have

:09:07. > :09:12.beautiful landscape at least! Naughty event is time and there is

:09:12. > :09:21.no winner. This is a team event, all about survival. Better not to go it

:09:21. > :09:33.alone. All sorts of people helping one another. Men, women, all

:09:33. > :09:40.nationalities. It is great. But with many obstacles you are on your own.

:09:40. > :09:53.Jumping from a 12 foot platform and cold water make your your fears. --

:09:53. > :10:10.make sure. -- may cure. The race ends with a threaded electric

:10:10. > :10:20.conflict. Do it is a tough course. Lots and lots of mud. I was not be

:10:20. > :10:26.peeled. Hard graft. It is the hardest course in Britain at the

:10:26. > :10:33.moment. Hopefully next year we can make it even more challenging.

:10:33. > :10:41.Plenty of spectators, it has been fantastic. If you are a fitness

:10:41. > :10:46.fanatic or even just want to watch, the BBC has a new website called Get

:10:46. > :10:53.Inspired. It provides information about a range of sport. You can type

:10:53. > :11:00.in your postcode and it will tell you what is being held in your area.

:11:00. > :11:09.For that, and more information, visit the website.

:11:09. > :11:13.Back to football. Wales and women opened the World Cup qualifying

:11:13. > :11:19.campaign for the finals in Canada. -- Wales women. We joined up with

:11:19. > :11:30.them to see their preparations for the game against Belarus.

:11:30. > :11:41.Obviously the contact time when you actually get the players is

:11:41. > :11:48.extremely short. Three days. It is important to find the balance

:11:48. > :11:53.between recovery and preparation. It is the first of two training

:11:53. > :11:56.sessions. Friendly results have been encouraging but the serious business

:11:56. > :12:04.is about to begin. Wales are hoping to reach the finals of a major

:12:04. > :12:09.tournament for the first time. We have a good young team. And lots of

:12:09. > :12:15.experienced players. We want to continue the development process.

:12:15. > :12:22.There are plenty of support staff on hand to help give Wales the best

:12:22. > :12:29.possible chance. My role is to make sure the Devils get recovery after

:12:29. > :12:40.training sessions. -- the girls. These sheiks have carbohydrates,

:12:40. > :12:43.protein, fat. -- shakes. It is exciting to get a new campaign

:12:43. > :12:51.underway. We have a lovely patch at Cardiff to play on. In the last

:12:51. > :12:54.campaign we let ourselves down. We should have been in with a chance of

:12:54. > :12:59.getting to the European Championships. We know that the next

:12:59. > :13:06.few games are vital for setting a standard. We must not leave anything

:13:06. > :13:13.to chance. To qualify automatically Wales will have two top a group

:13:13. > :13:24.including England. The best runners-up will face lay-offs. --

:13:24. > :13:30.play-offs. We need to forget that result including England

:13:30. > :13:35.immediately. It is not a true reflection of the capacity of

:13:35. > :13:44.Belarus. They will not play, for some reason. They missed their two

:13:44. > :13:52.best attacking players. After training it is a pet stop for lunch.

:13:52. > :13:58.Only the right kind of fuel load. Then the players get the chance to

:13:58. > :14:04.switch off with rest and relaxation. Those with stresses of strains had

:14:04. > :14:08.the treatment table. We have all the facilities that the mainstream have.

:14:08. > :14:14.Therapy, machinery, we have access to things like scanning and

:14:14. > :14:22.consultants. They are looked after very well. Are they all in good

:14:22. > :14:30.shape for Thursday? Absolutely. Top condition. We already had one

:14:30. > :14:35.training session. Quite a lot of things covered yesterday evening. We

:14:35. > :14:42.will go through the individual statistics. We cannot take anything

:14:42. > :14:46.for granted. This is an international game and we can't take

:14:46. > :14:53.it easy. But if we play our football we have a good chance of three

:14:53. > :14:56.points. If we do everything well and preparation we will get a good

:14:56. > :15:04.performance. And we might even get a result. No complaints with the

:15:04. > :15:13.surroundings. Wales playing at Cardiff City's Stadium for the first

:15:13. > :15:22.time. If you quiet moment of contemplation before the action

:15:22. > :15:29.begins. -- a few. The team led out by star player, Jessica schlock.

:15:29. > :15:33.After coming close in the worst European campaign would this be the

:15:33. > :15:40.start of something special? The start of the match was encouraging.

:15:40. > :15:47.20 of possession and chances. -- plenty. Despite the dominance, a

:15:47. > :15:55.scare when it seemed Belarus had taken the lead. But the goal ruled

:15:55. > :16:02.out for handball. Wales continued to press without finding a way to

:16:02. > :16:10.Gaul. Frustration, until the striker 29 goals from 40 games did this. She

:16:10. > :16:21.has got two inside the box, past one player, a goal! A 30th goal for

:16:21. > :16:31.Wales! Finally the goal they deserve. My 50th cap was a big

:16:31. > :16:36.enough occasion. To score a goal, I cannot ask for more. It was a

:16:36. > :16:46.hard-fought performance and I was just pleased to see it all in. We

:16:46. > :16:49.will approach the England game, try to get points for the match and

:16:50. > :16:53.prepare properly, as we always do. They will be confident, as they

:16:53. > :16:58.should be. We know enough about them to cause them problems. If we play

:16:58. > :17:02.the way we can, I know we will upset teams. England will take some

:17:02. > :17:06.stopping. They top the group after following up their Belarus bashing

:17:06. > :17:11.within 8-0 mauling of Turkey. Wales are second in group six with all

:17:11. > :17:16.eyes on the match away to England at Millwall on the 26th of October.

:17:16. > :17:19.Here in Swansea at the Wales National Pool, one Welsh swimmer is

:17:19. > :17:25.determined to put the disappointment of missing out on last year's

:17:25. > :17:28.Olympics behind her and concentrate instead on turning Commonwealth

:17:28. > :17:36.silver into gold in Glasgow next year. Sport Wales packed its best

:17:36. > :17:37.bathers and caught up with Jazz Carlin slightly calmer waters than

:17:37. > :18:05.she is used to. It was my first major senior

:18:05. > :18:10.competition. I was on the team with the likes of Becky Adlington.

:18:10. > :18:15.COMMENTATOR: She is pulling the rest of the field

:18:15. > :18:18.on. It was a special moment, I want to do part of individual events

:18:18. > :18:21.because when you do it for yourself there is a different feeling of

:18:21. > :18:32.accomplishment that all the work you have done has paid off. Jazz

:18:32. > :18:35.Carlin... It was an amazing experience, a culture shock for all

:18:35. > :18:42.others. I am a bit biased because I came away with two medals, a silver

:18:42. > :18:47.and a browser. Jazz Carlin of Wales, what a massive surprise for a

:18:47. > :18:50.silver. It really interrupted my training. I tried to do the best I

:18:50. > :18:53.could and keep pushing because when you have a dream you don't want

:18:53. > :18:58.anything to get in the way, so you try to put it to one side and focus

:18:58. > :19:05.on your goals, but looking back now I just wasn't ready. I wasn't

:19:05. > :19:11.healthy and I wasn't fit. I was absolutely heartbroken watching the

:19:11. > :19:14.Olympics, it was one of the hardest things to me. Especially a home

:19:14. > :19:17.Olympics, it was absolutely devastating. You don't remember all

:19:17. > :19:20.the good times and great friends come you just think about that one

:19:20. > :19:23.thing because it seems like the world and it took a few months out

:19:23. > :19:30.of the water free to realise that I still loved the sport and racing and

:19:30. > :19:39.I still believed I had more to come. Oh, to New Zealand, oh, my goodness

:19:39. > :19:43.me and Great Britain's Jazz Carlin has been touched out by 14 one

:19:43. > :19:49.hundredths of a second. I have got a best time so I have to look for the

:19:49. > :19:52.positives of that but 14 100th of a second is nothing when you think

:19:52. > :19:55.about it and now I have set my home page as the fourth place and I am

:19:55. > :19:59.getting up in the mornings and I am tired and hurting and I don't want

:19:59. > :20:03.to be there. I look at my phone, see that you came forth, you shouldn't

:20:03. > :20:10.be for sex mac it makes me push hard in training. -- you should not be in

:20:10. > :20:11.fourth place. In a second Commonwealth Games, a silver and

:20:11. > :20:15.bronze, so it is obvious what I am Commonwealth Games, a silver and

:20:15. > :20:23.aiming for. I will do everything I can this year hope it happens. We

:20:23. > :20:29.will keep following Jazz Carlin all the way to Glasgow. To football and

:20:29. > :20:34.after his £8.5 million summer transfer fee to Cardiff former

:20:34. > :20:37.Tottenham and Swansea player Steven Caulker has been making a big

:20:37. > :20:41.impression at the heart of the Cardiff defence. As Sport Wales

:20:41. > :20:48.found out, he has been making a pretty big impression off the field

:20:48. > :20:51.as well. Earlier this week Steven Caulker had

:20:51. > :20:55.a chance to put last weekend's defeated Tottenham behind him by

:20:55. > :20:58.getting involved in his important role as Cardiff City's ambassador to

:20:58. > :21:02.the disability programme. Which involves people with a range of

:21:02. > :21:08.disabilities in football sessions run by the club. It is something I

:21:08. > :21:13.wanted to be part of, to boost and let people know there is work going

:21:13. > :21:16.on and there is help for people and kids that want to get involved that

:21:16. > :21:20.are slightly less fortunate than the rest of us. It is nice to see the

:21:20. > :21:27.kids here and put a smile on their faces, I am proud of it. He has no

:21:27. > :21:29.regrets about joining Cardiff from Spurs with White Hart Lane manager

:21:29. > :21:34.Andrew Villas-Boas admitting it was a tough decision to let him go. I

:21:35. > :21:39.wanted to play games and I knew the gaffer here was going to be offering

:21:39. > :21:42.me more game time. There is still competition for places but so far I

:21:42. > :21:46.have managed to play all the games. I am really enjoying that. I have

:21:46. > :21:49.been on the bench and it is slightly more difficult and being so young I

:21:49. > :21:53.wanted to get out and get as much experience as possible.

:21:53. > :21:59.COMMENTATOR: Into the box, it is in. Cardiff's

:21:59. > :22:04.second away defeat of the season to West Ham, this time in the Capital

:22:04. > :22:08.One Cup. They trailed to two goals before fighting back with the beauty

:22:08. > :22:13.and then a first for the club for Peter Odemwingie to draw level but

:22:13. > :22:17.another late goal, this time bar Ricardo Vaz Te, inflicted the

:22:17. > :22:22.Bluebirds' second last gap -- last gasp reversing a week. He has no

:22:22. > :22:26.doubts about Cardiff's ability to do well this season. We have a great

:22:26. > :22:31.manager, a great squad, 25 players who can perform. We have strength

:22:31. > :22:38.and depth and we have the belief which is key to performing well this

:22:38. > :22:42.year. Since joining in the summer, Steven Caulker appears settled and

:22:42. > :22:45.ready to press against an England call-up for manager Roy Hodgson. I

:22:45. > :22:49.spoke with him and joined up with the camp. He was saying, continue to

:22:49. > :22:52.play well and hopefully chances will come your way. The more I am

:22:52. > :22:57.playing, the more opportunities I will have two hopefully impress

:22:57. > :23:01.Hodgson and get my name in the squad. There must be something that

:23:01. > :23:04.caught the lights about South Wales. Having spent a year at Swansea City,

:23:04. > :23:08.in their first year at the top-flight. Coming down as a Cardiff

:23:08. > :23:12.City player, I look to go above and beyond, respect to Swansea, I

:23:12. > :23:17.enjoyed my time there but I am settled at Cardiff and enjoying

:23:17. > :23:26.myself. Bellamy, off the post and in! Shot away, and Swansea lead. It

:23:26. > :23:29.is going to be a big day in November, a big derby day, but it is

:23:29. > :23:34.a game I look forward to as much as the fans and it will be hopefully

:23:34. > :23:41.three points. He is likely to get a mixed reception from the fans on the

:23:41. > :23:45.day. I have respect for the club we have to wait and find out. After

:23:45. > :23:52.being rested for the West Ham game, Steven Caulker will be returning to

:23:52. > :23:56.London on Saturday to face Fulham. Fuller Martyn-macro places behind

:23:56. > :24:02.Cardiff, in 18th, having won one, drawn one and lost three so far.

:24:02. > :24:07.Goals from Berbatov and Bent-macro gave them victory this week. Their

:24:07. > :24:13.first home win since last April and a triumph which will provide a big

:24:13. > :24:17.boost ahead of Cardiff's visit. Is a Premier League team, points away

:24:17. > :24:22.from home are important. I came here to keepers in the Premier League, as

:24:22. > :24:26.the other new signings have, and we have a lot of strikes and depth and

:24:26. > :24:31.belief in the camp that we will establish ourselves as a Premier

:24:31. > :24:35.League club -- we have strength and depth. To Swansea, to a man who has

:24:35. > :24:39.got the freedom of the city, I would have thought. Former Swansea city

:24:39. > :24:44.player and Ambassador Lee Trundle, good to see you. And you. Let's

:24:44. > :24:49.start with the last game, the holders are out of the League Cup.

:24:49. > :24:52.What did you make of the defeat at Birmingham? We had a couple of good

:24:52. > :24:57.chances early doors, where if we had put them away it would have been a

:24:57. > :25:01.different game. A bit disappointed because they are games we should be

:25:01. > :25:04.winning. What about the £12 million man, Wilfried Bony? We heard from

:25:04. > :25:10.him earlier in the programme. He seems to be settling in well? Yes,

:25:10. > :25:14.he is relaxed, and nice character, not very loud, just in training he

:25:14. > :25:20.gets on with his job. As a striker it is hard coming into a new team.

:25:20. > :25:26.You have to get rid, get knowing your team-mates, there was talk of

:25:26. > :25:29.him and Michu together saying they were the perfect partnership. They

:25:29. > :25:35.have shown glimpses of that but it is early in the season. Is to work

:25:35. > :25:38.in progress? Definitely. Anyone who comes into a new team it is a work

:25:38. > :25:42.in progress and some people might start off better than others but

:25:42. > :25:48.that is just the way it is. I think the quality of striker that he is,

:25:48. > :25:52.he will find his feet even more and he has shown glimpses of what he is

:25:52. > :25:56.capable of. A big one this weekend, Arsenal, top of the league at the

:25:56. > :26:00.Liberty. Are you looking forward to it? Really looking forward to it and

:26:00. > :26:05.the fans look forward to it as well because you want to see the best

:26:05. > :26:09.teams playing at your stadium and the way Arsenal play football is a

:26:09. > :26:13.similar style to Swansea, so it should be a great game of football

:26:13. > :26:18.and an exciting one as well. How do you win it? What is your plan? Try

:26:18. > :26:22.and take your chances when they come and play football. If someone can

:26:22. > :26:27.get an early goal and open up the game, hopefully we can get something

:26:27. > :26:31.but it is going to be tough. I will ask you about a favourite at the

:26:31. > :26:36.Liberty, Steven Caulker, now a Cardiff City player. How did you

:26:36. > :26:37.react when he had joined them? Surprised, really, because you know

:26:37. > :26:42.react when he had joined them? the rivalry between Swansea and

:26:42. > :26:45.Cardiff is massive but it is a football decision at the end of the
