:00:26. > :00:38.Oh, what an impact! Ryan Gauld could finish. Still Johnson. What a goal

:00:39. > :00:47.that is from the youngster. What a strike from Jamie Hamill! That is a

:00:48. > :01:03.beautiful finish. Good evening and a happy new year

:01:04. > :01:06.from us all at Sportscene. It's been a cracking New Year of derby duels

:01:07. > :01:09.in Scotland's top flight. My advice, to sit back and enjoy - in the

:01:10. > :01:34.company of these two. Two halves of the Edinburgh derby

:01:35. > :01:41.divide represented in full this evening - Michael Stewart and Kenny

:01:42. > :01:43.Miller join us tonight. And it's in Edinburgh we start. Despite

:01:44. > :01:47.languishing at the bottom of the Premiership on a negative points

:01:48. > :01:50.tally it was two wins out of two this season for Hearts over Hibs.

:01:51. > :01:53.However hopes were high amongst the Easter Road faithful. They packed

:01:54. > :01:56.out the stadium this evening, with Terry Butcher in for his first taste

:01:57. > :02:04.of Edinburgh derby action. Commentary comes from Rob Maclean.

:02:05. > :02:08.Terry Butcher's first Edinburgh derby team selection not too

:02:09. > :02:14.difficult. It is the same line up which beat Kilmarnock in the last

:02:15. > :02:20.game of 2013. Illness depriving Hearts of Danny Wilson. Jordan

:02:21. > :02:40.McGhee is drafted in. That tinge - saved by Williams. What

:02:41. > :02:45.a chance for the young midfielder, on the end of Paterson's cross. Very

:02:46. > :02:58.much on target. In from Craig and Jordan Foster's

:02:59. > :03:07.heading crashing back off the bar. And that is the nearest thing to a

:03:08. > :03:15.goal in the Edinburgh derby so far. Macdonald looks back with relief.

:03:16. > :03:29.The tip over the top from Macdonald. It was the youngster, Jason

:03:30. > :03:35.Cummings. The first Edinburgh derby of 2014 still goalless. Cairney

:03:36. > :03:41.trying to do something about that. It is a great run and the cutback

:03:42. > :03:49.and Collins had the shot and there were screams for a penalty.

:03:50. > :04:03.Hanlon was up and James Collins scores the goal of his derby dreams!

:04:04. > :04:09.61 minutes at Easter Road. Hibs are in front. A cluster of players in

:04:10. > :04:17.the six-yard box and it was Collins who got the important touch.

:04:18. > :04:47.A brilliant run by Smith and that is Paterson and that is in off Ryan

:04:48. > :04:54.McGivern and it's all-square in the derby. 72 minutes gone, six minutes

:04:55. > :05:04.on the pitch for Smith. Williams couldn't hold the shot. Paterson

:05:05. > :05:09.with the follow up attempt. In off McGivern. And having levelled this

:05:10. > :05:16.up, Hearts now fancying themselves to grab all three points. A great

:05:17. > :05:22.run from Walker. Down he goes. McGivern was the defender involved.

:05:23. > :05:26.And there is a yellow card out here. For the Hearts winger. And that

:05:27. > :05:48.looks like the right decision. McGhee makes the challenge and

:05:49. > :05:58.that's a penalty! And Hearts cannot believe it. Ryan Reevenson --

:05:59. > :06:05.Stevenson wags his finger in the referee's face. Liam Craig, she Sen

:06:06. > :06:10.minute - seven minutes from time with his seventh goal of the season

:06:11. > :06:23.and it looks like the goal that has won the Edinburgh derby.

:06:24. > :06:30.That is a stinging shot from McHattie and Williams solidly behind

:06:31. > :06:43.this. Heffernan! That would have settled

:06:44. > :06:55.it. That would have been the icing on the cake. It has flown wide.

:06:56. > :07:07.Hibs close in on victory. And another chance! And Collins doesn't

:07:08. > :07:15.quite know how he missed that. This would have made it 3-1. What a

:07:16. > :07:20.chance. Our fans have suffered at the hand of Hearts and it is nice to

:07:21. > :07:25.win a game. I felt we deserved the win. We dominated the game. Just

:07:26. > :07:29.that bit of quality in the final third just wasn't quite there. But

:07:30. > :07:34.we felt if we could persevere and keep on going, something would

:07:35. > :07:43.happen. We did well to get back in the game. It was a difficult night

:07:44. > :07:47.for us. They put us under pressure, specially on set plays. But we

:07:48. > :07:55.battled well and it is a controversial decision that has cost

:07:56. > :08:00.us a point. Fantastic to see a pulsating Edinburgh derby. Kenny

:08:01. > :08:04.Miller, was it the right result? I think so. On the balance of play,

:08:05. > :08:10.particularly in the second half, Hearts maybe started the brighter

:08:11. > :08:14.teams, but Hibs came into it and there was only one team in it in the

:08:15. > :08:19.second half. You have seen the chances that were created. Bigger

:08:20. > :08:25.they may be aggrieved they didn't get more. It seemed like a whirlwind

:08:26. > :08:30.start from Hibs, but you saw good signs from Hearts to start with?

:08:31. > :08:34.Yes, there was no doubt Hibs were the better team, but the first sort

:08:35. > :08:40.of five or ten minutes there was bits of play from Hearts like we see

:08:41. > :08:46.here. A bit of an idea of what they were trying to do, without, far too

:08:47. > :08:52.often there has just been aimless balls from the back. There seemed to

:08:53. > :08:58.be good movement off the ball. This one here, a great cross from

:08:59. > :09:02.Paterson and Tapping was unfortunate. That is something that

:09:03. > :09:06.has not happened a lot for Hearts. But after that, Hibs were the better

:09:07. > :09:12.team. We have seen some bad defending from Hearts this season,

:09:13. > :09:18.the 7-0 hammering from Celtic springs to mind. How much was it

:09:19. > :09:22.down to bad defending for the Collins goal. Well, I don't want to

:09:23. > :09:27.be too critical, but the gap between the full back and the centre half is

:09:28. > :09:33.alarming. That is something that has cost them this season. They have

:09:34. > :09:39.conseepeded a lot of -- conceded a lot of goals from bad defending.

:09:40. > :09:46.They're not picking nip up. You see -- picking anyone up. Collins is the

:09:47. > :09:51.quickest to react and gets the goal. That is something that needs to be

:09:52. > :09:55.rectified. It should have been done yesterday and it will need to be

:09:56. > :10:00.done quickly. What did you make of the equaliser for Hearts? Well, I

:10:01. > :10:04.couldn't see it coming. Hibs were the dominant team in the second

:10:05. > :10:09.half. But Smith came on and he has picked the ball up in the Hibs' half

:10:10. > :10:15.and he was direct. It is something that Hearts were missing all day. He

:10:16. > :10:24.has beaten a second man too easily and had a fantastic shot and been

:10:25. > :10:28.first to the rebound. But he has deserved that for being direct and

:10:29. > :10:35.getting at the Hibs' defence. A poor goal to lose. In terms of the

:10:36. > :10:38.penalty, let's look at that. Any doubts about the decision? No, I

:10:39. > :10:44.think it is a penalty. You see there, it is his leg, he lifts his

:10:45. > :10:51.leg and steps across Stevenson. If he was just to run across and shield

:10:52. > :10:59.it, he would be OK. But he lifts the leg and it becomes a tackle. And

:11:00. > :11:03.Craig dispatches it well. A great win for Hibs. To the first of our

:11:04. > :11:06.matches from yesterday, and the match of the day was at Tannadice.

:11:07. > :11:10.Dundee United and Aberdeen both impressive so far this season - this

:11:11. > :11:14.New Year, New Firm derby probably one of the most anticipated in the

:11:15. > :11:16.last 30-odd years. It would be a dramatic afternoon. Commentary comes

:11:17. > :11:21.from Paul Mitchell. Fopp top top Another slew of changes for Dundee

:11:22. > :11:25.United with seven players coming from for the side that lost in

:11:26. > :11:48.Perth. That is a heavy challenge from Flood

:11:49. > :11:54.and the yellow card will come out from Willie Collum. The winger

:11:55. > :11:58.certainly wasn't going past. He accepts the booking willingly does

:11:59. > :12:11.Flood. Paton goes down and reacts angrily

:12:12. > :12:19.to the referee. Flood didn't think there was much in it. Flood just

:12:20. > :12:26.catching his foo. A great atmosphere at Tannadice.

:12:27. > :12:35.Pawlett for Aberdeen. The keeper saves. United causing their own

:12:36. > :12:49.problems here. Dwelt on the ball too long.

:12:50. > :13:04.Low into the box and Pawlett. A sore one for Gunning. He had to make the

:13:05. > :13:08.block - at some personal cost! Good play from McGinn, determined down

:13:09. > :13:23.that wing. Pawlett caught that well. Pawlett rifled it in. Pawlett

:13:24. > :13:25.unmarked at the edge of the box. He really hammered that in. That is a

:13:26. > :13:52.good stop from the keeper. Langfield has come wandering, his

:13:53. > :13:59.net was unguarded and Soutar said thank you very much. It is his 26th

:14:00. > :14:04.appearance and his first goal. It was gifted to him by Jamie

:14:05. > :14:15.Langfield. Easy for central defender.

:14:16. > :14:21.Paul Paton up against Pawlett. The arm came across but was it hard

:14:22. > :14:25.enough to knock him to the ground? Pawlett thought so. The referee will

:14:26. > :14:32.redress things with the yellow card for Paul Paton. He believes his case

:14:33. > :14:44.without success. -- he pleads his case. That time it was Paul Paton on

:14:45. > :14:51.Pawlett. Play on, says the referee. Well, he was wholehearted in his

:14:52. > :14:55.challenge on Pawlett there. There was a movement of the arm and the

:14:56. > :15:02.referee has given a penalty. Robertson came across. Magennis was

:15:03. > :15:08.in the box. The question is, was it deliberate? His arm moved towards

:15:09. > :15:15.the ball. Penalty kick given. Barry Robson drills it down the middle. He

:15:16. > :15:16.beats Cierzniak and celebrates with the Aberdeen fans. He pummelled the

:15:17. > :15:40.ball into the net, penalty scored. Great save from Radoslaw Cierzniak.

:15:41. > :15:54.The goalkeeper flying across. The free kick was deflected on to

:15:55. > :16:02.the goalkeeper and in by Peter Pawlett. The goalkeeper could only

:16:03. > :16:05.push it away, and in stoppage time, Peter Pawlett looks to have won it

:16:06. > :16:11.for Aberdeen with a header over the goalkeeper on the ground. Robson's

:16:12. > :16:14.delivery, and the header gives Aberdeen the lead.

:16:15. > :16:17.goalkeeper on the ground. Robson's delivery, and the header gives I

:16:18. > :16:23.think we can play a lot better. It was a stop start game. Percentage

:16:24. > :16:27.football at times. Disappointed with some of our passing at times.

:16:28. > :16:32.Disappointed to lose the goal when we did. The keeper pulled off three

:16:33. > :16:37.or four saves and you start to think it is not going to be your day. To

:16:38. > :16:40.lose a goal from a set piece when they had not been threatening was

:16:41. > :16:43.disappointing but the response was to reflect. To come from behind in a

:16:44. > :16:47.game I thought we were in charge of in the second half, to come from

:16:48. > :16:51.behind and win it at the death, I think we got the reward we deserved.

:16:52. > :16:54.The players were outstanding in the second half.

:16:55. > :16:56.think we got the reward we deserved. The players were outstanding Jackie

:16:57. > :16:59.MacNamara might not have thought it was entertaining but it made for

:17:00. > :17:02.entertaining highlights and Peter Pawlett with the winning goal. How

:17:03. > :17:11.impressed have you been with him this season? He has been strong.

:17:12. > :17:16.Yes. He has benefited from a good structure and shape to the team. He

:17:17. > :17:18.has flourished this season. Last year he had problems with being

:17:19. > :17:24.marked as somebody who went down easily, but this year he has raised

:17:25. > :17:28.his game and become an influential player for Aberdeen. He is very

:17:29. > :17:35.direct. We spoke about that already tonight. Was he targeted by Paul

:17:36. > :17:41.Paton. For Paul Paton, what worked in his benefit was that Flood got

:17:42. > :17:46.let off with something similar. He has two good feet. I have been

:17:47. > :17:53.impressed. He was alert, getting in at the back post and he put in the

:17:54. > :17:57.winning goal. The Aberdeen fans behind the goal. What we saw in the

:17:58. > :18:02.first game, and this game, two stadiums where the fans were jumping

:18:03. > :18:07.and it is great to see. That is what the players want to play in front

:18:08. > :18:11.of. They were local derbies, which adds spice to the game. You want to

:18:12. > :18:14.have a full house, to have the atmosphere, to have a fantastic

:18:15. > :18:20.game, and on the highlights it looked a great game. It looked as if

:18:21. > :18:25.Pawlett could have had three or four macro goals. He was at the heart of

:18:26. > :18:30.everything for Aberdeen. Where do Dundee United go from here? That is

:18:31. > :18:33.three straight defeats. They will definitely be in the mix at the top

:18:34. > :18:38.end of the table because they have too many quality players in the

:18:39. > :18:43.final third to be anywhere else. They are a talented bunch and they

:18:44. > :19:00.will be back. 20 more to come. And we are back for more in a few days.

:19:01. > :19:07.What do you do when James McFadden hopes to inspire you to a 5-1

:19:08. > :19:11.victory over Partick Thistle? Drop into the bench. But who is to argue

:19:12. > :19:14.with Stuart McCall, who masterminded his side's right to second in the

:19:15. > :19:21.table? They looking for their fifth straight win in a row. May had taken

:19:22. > :19:35.his tally to 15. It began with a moment of

:19:36. > :19:39.controversy. Did this effort from McManus crossed the line? No, was

:19:40. > :19:47.the decision of the officials. It struck the bar twice. The second was

:19:48. > :19:57.definitely on the line. It remains 0-0. But this would be a match of

:19:58. > :20:01.countless chances. Over 24 hours on, the frames of the goals are

:20:02. > :20:06.probably still reverberating. Next to go close, Scott Brown, the Saints

:20:07. > :20:15.youngster making his first start for the club. Iain Vigurs has an eye for

:20:16. > :20:21.the pass, and Brittain knows how to score when he gets service like

:20:22. > :20:27.this. -- Sutton. His 10th goal of the season. The tricky feat of

:20:28. > :20:30.Lionel Ainsworth have been to the fore in recent weeks, almost leading

:20:31. > :20:37.to goal member two, Carswell's effort locked on the line. --

:20:38. > :20:41.blocked. In the second half, Motherwell sought to extend their

:20:42. > :20:47.lead. Ainsworth with the direct run, and Vigurs was there to make it

:20:48. > :20:54.2-0. He scored nine times for Ross County last season but this was his

:20:55. > :20:59.first goal for Motherwell. It was not quite over for St Johnstone but

:21:00. > :21:03.when the ball ended up at the feet of David Wotherspoon, he lacked

:21:04. > :21:09.conviction. And by the time May had a chance, a combination of defenders

:21:10. > :21:13.and woodwork kept him at a. At the other end, Ainsworth continued to

:21:14. > :21:19.minister St Johnstone back line. Again, the frame of the goal

:21:20. > :21:25.rattled. And it had barely stopped rattling when Hutchinson's header

:21:26. > :21:28.came back off the post. Not that Motherwell gave up. And when the

:21:29. > :21:34.ball fell to the feet of Ainsworth, always a chance of danger. The man

:21:35. > :21:39.on loan from Rotherham United, for the fourth game in a row, on the

:21:40. > :21:45.scoresheet. Motherwell well on their way to a fifth straight win. James

:21:46. > :21:50.McFadden was back to something like his inspirational best in the last

:21:51. > :21:55.game, and on freight brief cameo he got number four. These are heady

:21:56. > :22:03.games once again -- heady days once again for Motherwell fans. I thought

:22:04. > :22:08.we were as good as we could have been. In the second half we were

:22:09. > :22:11.outstanding, creating good chances and playing some smashing football.

:22:12. > :22:14.St Johnstone could have got a couple and we could have had more. It was a

:22:15. > :22:22.good game from our point of view. Clinical again. We had chances as

:22:23. > :22:25.well and we failed to take them. Disappointing for us. But Motherwell

:22:26. > :22:31.were excellent. Disappointing for us. But Motherwell

:22:32. > :22:37.were Motherwell lost in the Scottish Cup and then got hammered by Celtic.

:22:38. > :22:41.And then they got five in a row. Explain that. It is something Jackie

:22:42. > :22:44.MacNamara will want to be looking at. They are similar teams as well

:22:45. > :22:50.and they will be competing at the top. The thing with Motherwell is

:22:51. > :22:55.that the Albion Rovers game was a shock to the system and gave them a

:22:56. > :22:59.kick up the backside. Clearly, it has pushed them on and they are

:23:00. > :23:04.doing fantastically well at the moment. They are clearly in the

:23:05. > :23:08.groove and Lionel Ainsworth, on loan from Rotherham United, twinkle toes,

:23:09. > :23:16.that is for sure. He had an outstanding game. Stuart McCall was

:23:17. > :23:20.saying he hopes to extend the loan. He is direct, quick, tricky. He

:23:21. > :23:25.always seems to have an end product, whether it is a shot or a

:23:26. > :23:33.cross. And he scored a fantastic goal as well. Here's one they will

:23:34. > :23:37.want to keep hold of. That is something you look for, end

:23:38. > :23:42.product. Many flatter to deceive, but everything he does has an end

:23:43. > :23:52.product. I am pretty sure he will be going back to Rotherham -- back to

:23:53. > :23:56.Rotherham. I have to ask you about Stevie May. He was not on the

:23:57. > :24:00.scoresheet for St Johnstone against Motherwell but scored a hat-trick

:24:01. > :24:05.against Dundee United. How impressed have you been by him this season?

:24:06. > :24:12.Very impressed. 15 goals this season. He is still a young lad. He

:24:13. > :24:16.will be looking to improve. To score that level of goal already, it is

:24:17. > :24:21.definitely a fantastic achievement. I would not be surprised if a few

:24:22. > :24:26.teams south of the border will be circling him. Certainly in January.

:24:27. > :24:30.The Highland derby next, the first for the new Inverness manager, John

:24:31. > :24:34.Hughes, still looking for his first home win since taking over from

:24:35. > :24:38.Terry Butcher. Ross County were looking for their first victory away

:24:39. > :24:41.to Inverness in over four-year 's. They have not managed a victory

:24:42. > :24:46.against anyone in the last ten matches.

:24:47. > :24:56.John Hughes sees no reason to change the Inverness team which lost 1-0 to

:24:57. > :25:02.Celtic. There is a new name in the Ross County team, Jordan Slew, on

:25:03. > :25:21.loan -- on loan from Blackburn, making a derby debut.

:25:22. > :25:27.Back off the post, and Billy McKay. You had your money on the top scorer

:25:28. > :25:54.tucking it away on the rebound. Scott Boyd fires Ross County in

:25:55. > :25:58.front. And could they get the ideal start to the New Year and a badly

:25:59. > :26:05.needed win? They are on their way. The shot was inflected off

:26:06. > :26:17.Tremarco. 15 minutes gone and Ross County in front.

:26:18. > :26:29.And Cooper scores. It is two in not much more than a minute. It is a

:26:30. > :26:36.double blow for Inverness on Derby day. And all of the composure, and

:26:37. > :26:47.Cooper just took his time before driving that home.

:26:48. > :27:08.Straight at Michael Fraser. Lovely touch from Billy McKay.

:27:09. > :27:23.Fraser made the save, and Scott Boyd tidied things up.

:27:24. > :27:40.Ross Draper went in against Kettlewell. Was he leading with the

:27:41. > :27:52.elbow? Well, he is leaving the scene of the crime. But it is a red card

:27:53. > :27:56.for Draper. And a dismal derby day continues for Inverness. Two goals

:27:57. > :28:17.down and one man down. Agdestein, the Norwegian striker,

:28:18. > :28:47.with a good hit but just too high. Aaron Doran has got it over Michael

:28:48. > :28:54.Fraser and nodded home in the 89th minute, to give Inverness a goal.

:28:55. > :29:00.Fraser hesitated as he came off his line.

:29:01. > :29:08.Credit to them. They came in and they hit us on the counter and it

:29:09. > :29:14.worked for them. We were a little over committed and a bit expensive.

:29:15. > :29:20.It resulted in us losing two goals. Disappointing. We have been looking

:29:21. > :29:24.for the break and we probably got it in the first half when Inverness hit

:29:25. > :29:27.the post. Then we were able to get the first goal. We have been waiting

:29:28. > :29:34.for a number of weeks to get the first goal. We saw the confidence

:29:35. > :29:42.after that happened. A fantastic win for Ross County. They did well by

:29:43. > :29:46.bringing in Slew from Blackburn. Registered just in time for the

:29:47. > :29:52.match. A big striker, what did you make of his contribution? From what

:29:53. > :29:57.you see, he has ended up with two assists. He is a big lad. He will be

:29:58. > :30:02.a target man. You see from the touches he has for the two goals, he

:30:03. > :30:04.picks up a nice position there. He works himself in front of the centre

:30:05. > :30:10.half. works himself in front of the centre

:30:11. > :30:17.And has the awareness to flick it on to a team mate. This one is

:30:18. > :30:22.fantastic play. Grat touch. He has the support. You need runners and he

:30:23. > :30:27.has played a fantastic ball into the space for his team mate to go

:30:28. > :30:35.through. It leads to a goal. That is what you need - your striker to be a

:30:36. > :30:41.platform to get you up the park. And that second goal has everything.

:30:42. > :30:50.Blackburn paid ?1 million for him at one point A massive win for Ross

:30:51. > :30:56.unty. When you look at what they did last year, they set the bar high. It

:30:57. > :31:00.was going to be difficult to reach those heights again. But this year

:31:01. > :31:05.has been a struggle and Slew has been a big plus, because they have

:31:06. > :31:11.struggled in the forward area. Somebody that will give them the

:31:12. > :31:18.platform to get forward. We will accused of trial by TV, but we have

:31:19. > :31:23.to look at this. The Ross Draper sending off. What did you make of

:31:24. > :31:28.it, Kenny? It is a harsh decision. He has led up and his arms are up,

:31:29. > :31:34.you always have to jump with your arms. I don't think there is any

:31:35. > :31:41.real intent by sending his arm into anybody's face or head, I think it

:31:42. > :31:46.is harsh. The problem is when the impact of the ball's very low, had

:31:47. > :31:50.it been, he was higher up he may have been able to get his head on

:31:51. > :31:56.it. But I don't think there was any intent, but when you raise your

:31:57. > :31:59.arms, you run the risk of a red card. Next we're off to the top

:32:00. > :32:02.flight Glasgow derby between unbeaten Celtic and Partick Thistle.

:32:03. > :32:05.Plenty of speculation swirling around the futures of both Joe

:32:06. > :32:08.Ledley and Giorgios Samaras, out of contract in the summer - Ledley

:32:09. > :32:11.started, Samaras was on the bench. Partick Thistle were hoping for a

:32:12. > :32:15.massive improvement after losing 5-1 at home to Motherwell in their last

:32:16. > :32:18.match. New loan signing Lyle Taylor - just arrived from Sheffield United

:32:19. > :32:21.and formerly a free-scoring striker at Falkirk - went straight into the

:32:22. > :32:27.starting 11. Brian Mclaughlin reports.

:32:28. > :32:35.After consecutive 1-0 wins on the road, Celtic were back in front of

:32:36. > :32:47.their own fans. Pukki almost gave them the perfect start. Only denied

:32:48. > :32:54.by Fox. Lyle Taylor made his debut for Thistle, but his herd was wide

:32:55. > :33:01.of -- header was wide of the target. Fox saved again for Thistle. At the

:33:02. > :33:09.other end, Forster still has aspirations of a World Cup spot with

:33:10. > :33:15.England and saves like this from Balatoni, he may well make to it

:33:16. > :33:20.Rio. Again he was called into action. Forster going the wrong way,

:33:21. > :33:26.but somehow managing to still get a hand to Elliott's header. A terrific

:33:27. > :33:33.reaction save by Celtic's number one. Neil Lennon hopes that Joe

:33:34. > :33:40.Ledley will sign a new deal and the Welshman made the break through just

:33:41. > :33:45.before half time. This was Ledley's fourth goal of the season. His 25

:33:46. > :33:55.yarder creeping in between the keeper and the post. Pukki has yet

:33:56. > :34:01.to win over the Parkhead faithful, but he came close with this effort,

:34:02. > :34:07.but Fox again denied him. One final chance for the Jags late on, Celtic

:34:08. > :34:12.famed to clear the corner. Lawless with the shot cleared off the line.

:34:13. > :34:17.The danger still there and Elliott with the header just wide of goal.

:34:18. > :34:25.Adam Matthews with the clearance as Celtic make it seven clean sheets in

:34:26. > :34:32.a row. We had chances and you have to take them. I felt our strikers

:34:33. > :34:36.were more attacking. We were deliepgted with the -- deliepgted

:34:37. > :34:39.with the way we played. The performance wasn't great, but it was

:34:40. > :34:43.a good result and under the circumstances a win. But we were

:34:44. > :34:51.flat today. It has been coming for a couple of games. They're starting to

:34:52. > :34:56.look heavy-leagued. So we -- heavy-legged and we will to assess

:34:57. > :35:04.them before the St Mirren game and try and get a spark in there. Leddy

:35:05. > :35:10.with the goal and speculation about his future. How important do you

:35:11. > :35:15.feel its for Neil Lennon to keep Joe Ledley? He showed with his goals. He

:35:16. > :35:24.probably doesn't get the credit he deserves for the, there is others

:35:25. > :35:28.who steal the headlines. He is reliable and pops up with a lot of

:35:29. > :35:36.goals and important goals that win games. I'm sure Neil will help he

:35:37. > :35:40.can keep ahold of him. But he is an important player. Along with

:35:41. > :35:47.Samaras. Equally important to keep hold of Samaras? Yes, over the last

:35:48. > :35:52.few years big George has proven, he has scored a lot of goals in the

:35:53. > :35:57.Champions League and Old Firm games. He has been a great acquisition for

:35:58. > :36:03.the club. I am sure he will look to keep both. But with six months left

:36:04. > :36:09.it gets to that stage where they can speak to anyone. Neil Lennon talked

:36:10. > :36:14.of the flatness of the game and the stadium far from full. What can they

:36:15. > :36:20.do about that? Not a great deal. They have got to wait until Rangers

:36:21. > :36:25.get back until league, that is what drives them on. Neil Lennon talks

:36:26. > :36:30.about the players, but you said the stadium is half empty. The players

:36:31. > :36:34.are no different to the supporters, they're not as excited about the

:36:35. > :36:39.league, because they don't have that challenge from Rangers. When they

:36:40. > :36:43.come back, you will see a direct impact on the crowds and they will

:36:44. > :36:47.come back. Would you agree with that, Celtic are showing signs of

:36:48. > :36:50.missing Rangers? I think so. They would have missed them last year. I

:36:51. > :36:56.know from being at the club, when you're at the Old Firm, you're

:36:57. > :37:00.always playing catch up, one team will play Saturday the next the

:37:01. > :37:04.Sunday. There is always that reaction. If the team wins, you need

:37:05. > :37:10.to win to stay up with them. And if they drop pain moints -- drop

:37:11. > :37:17.points. There is always something driving you on. With no disrespect

:37:18. > :37:23.to the other teams, Celtic women win the -- Celtic will win the league.

:37:24. > :37:26.We finish the night at Rugby Park, where the home side Kilmarnock this

:37:27. > :37:28.afternoon took on St Mirren. A home victory would see Kilmarnock

:37:29. > :37:29.overtake Saints in the Premiership table. Commentary comes from John

:37:30. > :37:31.Barnes. afternoon took on St Mirren. A home

:37:32. > :37:36.victory would see Kilmarnock For Kilmarnock's first match of the

:37:37. > :37:49.year, Alan Johnson fields the same side that lost the last of 2013 to

:37:50. > :37:53.Hibs. With Jim Goodwin suspended, Adam Campbell gets his debut on loan

:37:54. > :38:15.from Newcastle. Slater! So close to his first goal

:38:16. > :38:24.for Kilmarnock, slater there. Back off the cross bar.

:38:25. > :38:35.Thomson is captain for the day. Dancing feet on the wing as well.

:38:36. > :38:42.This is Adam Campbell - good strike and St Mirren are in front with 17

:38:43. > :38:50.minutes played. Adam Campbell on his debut gets a goal, celebrating his

:38:51. > :39:05.19th birthday yesterday - that is a belated birthday present!

:39:06. > :39:16.A fine strike. What an effort that was from Rory McKenzie to level

:39:17. > :39:23.things. He was involved in the initial move, linking with Johnson.

:39:24. > :39:27.He just found that yard of space for the shot. And directed it beyond

:39:28. > :39:47.Kello. A second of the season. Newton to Thomson. It looked

:39:48. > :39:52.destined for the bottom corner until Samson's intervention. The former

:39:53. > :39:59.team mates acknowledge each other's efforts. Newton set it up and it was

:40:00. > :40:03.the right boot of Samson to turn it away.

:40:04. > :40:10.Samson again to the rescue for Kilmarnock. The shot took a

:40:11. > :40:29.deflection, the keeper saw it late. Kris Boyd! Oh, it looked as though

:40:30. > :40:35.it was a great opportunity for Boyd just to put his side in front. Neat

:40:36. > :40:38.skills by the big striker. It may well have taken a bobble as he was

:40:39. > :41:01.about to pull the trigger. A chance for granger and it shame

:41:02. > :41:04.off Slater and directed it wide of the target.

:41:05. > :41:12.Muirhead, not a bad strike from the teenager, on as a substitute. It

:41:13. > :41:32.swerved in the air. Through to Kris Boyd and a minute

:41:33. > :41:38.into stoppage and Boyd scores! That will secure the win for the Rugby

:41:39. > :41:43.Park side. It is a sixth goal in six games. His fourth in four against St

:41:44. > :41:50.Mirren. His 12th of the season. He was onside. Played onside by

:41:51. > :41:57.McGregor and he buried it in the bottom corner. Very disappointed,

:41:58. > :42:02.but Wen you give a top marksman like Boyd an opportunity, that is the

:42:03. > :42:08.damage he can do. I thought we handled him well for the 90 minutes.

:42:09. > :42:12.Just not for the 92. The boys have had confidence. Stipes when you get

:42:13. > :42:17.-- sometimes when you get beat you see the lack of confidence. But it

:42:18. > :42:25.is good to see the results are coming. A good winning goal from

:42:26. > :42:32.Boyd. But how important were the saves? You have got to make yourself

:42:33. > :42:40.difficult to beat. Samson did that for his team for Kilmarnock. That is

:42:41. > :42:44.a fantastic save from Thomson. He is going the other way and that is a

:42:45. > :42:48.great save. There was a number of them through the game. A strong hand

:42:49. > :42:53.to it and getting it away from the goals. Yeah, it gives you the

:42:54. > :42:59.opportunity, the chance to stay in the game. Gary Harkins maybe giving

:43:00. > :43:05.the ball away. He is off on loan to Oldham. But Kris Boyd, your old

:43:06. > :43:13.striking partner, are you surprised by this rejuvenile lacing he has had

:43:14. > :43:17.-- he has had at schizophrenia? -- at schizophrenia. He has had a tough

:43:18. > :43:22.couple of years. But it is great to see him back a and playing. Now, he

:43:23. > :43:28.has had a run, you are starting to see the best of him and he is doing

:43:29. > :43:34.what he does best. He will get them every week if he has the chances.

:43:35. > :43:40.Kenny, your situation in Canada is that the situation in the future.

:43:41. > :43:44.There was stories of a move back to Rangers. No. Put you on the the

:43:45. > :43:49.hotspot! I have got another three weeks of the break, where I'm

:43:50. > :43:54.working down at Murray Park after a minor knee operation, I'm getting

:43:55. > :44:02.back to almost full training. I will be doing that for a few week and

:44:03. > :44:06.then back to Canada. Thank you. And here is the table as it stands.

:44:07. > :44:30.Celtic remain 11 points clear. Hibs now into the top six as we have

:44:31. > :44:37.seen Kilmarnock now above St Mirren. And Ross County move to within a

:44:38. > :44:40.point of Partick Thistle. And that's it. 2014 is safely in through the

:44:41. > :44:44.door and Scottish football continues to look much like it did in 2013 -

:44:45. > :44:47.blooming marvellous as far as I'm concerned. We're back on Sunday,

:44:48. > :44:50.thanks for watching. Until next time, goodnight.
