:01:36. > :01:38.Pat Fenlon Sportscene Constituency wants

:01:39. > :01:42.High energy autumn weather. Enjoy tomorrow if you can, the driest day

:01:43. > :01:44.of the working week before further spells of wet and windy weather come

:01:45. > :01:45.across the UK. We Scottish football is never short on

:01:46. > :01:55.drama and this Managerless Hibs without James Mc

:01:56. > :02:04.pak. In come Maybury, Forrester and Hefernan.

:02:05. > :02:09.Just wide. Managing to escape his marker in the

:02:10. > :02:15.middle. Given away cheaply by Hibs and given

:02:16. > :02:29.immediately back. Firing off target in the end.

:02:30. > :02:35.He worked that opening himself. Elusive play from Hefernan. When he

:02:36. > :02:42.cut in, you expect him to be working the goalkeeper. Hibs with plenty of

:02:43. > :02:53.early possession. Stevenson bursting into the box.

:02:54. > :03:02.Flinging himself at that. Simon Ramsden looks as if he's pulled up

:03:03. > :03:10.with hamstring trouble. It is an early change, his match is over.

:03:11. > :03:19.20-year-old Fraser Kerr takes his place.

:03:20. > :03:22.Stephen McManus, another one at the front and it is his first goal for

:03:23. > :03:44.the club. Good play from Sutton. This looks

:03:45. > :03:52.promising. It spins off the glove of Williams. It could so easily have

:03:53. > :04:00.gone in for goal number two. Suspended James McPake in the stand.

:04:01. > :04:06.That is a clearance. From Neil son. Blocked by the goalkeeper. He should

:04:07. > :04:33.have hit that quicker. That must have brushed the post.

:04:34. > :04:35.Great run from the midfielder. So close to adding to Motherwell's

:04:36. > :04:53.advantage. Robertson into a threat threatening

:04:54. > :04:55.position and the shot comes off the heel of Hutchinson. And spins

:04:56. > :05:15.behind. It might have been heading wide. But

:05:16. > :05:16.Neilson wasn't going to be taking any chances and helped this on its

:05:17. > :05:31.way. Taken out by Sean Hutchinson, it's

:05:32. > :05:41.outside the box but it is still going to be a red card. A big chance

:05:42. > :05:46.for Hibs as well. Did well to make contact outside.

:05:47. > :06:04.Vine, off the wall. That's a real anti-climax for Hibs.

:06:05. > :06:14.Is there to be one last chance? Big moment for the substitute and he

:06:15. > :06:32.fires wide. Robertson's pass. There's Hefernan,

:06:33. > :06:37.great stop by Neil sen and Motherwell look like they are

:06:38. > :06:45.hanging on for all three points. It was a good foul by Hutchinson, he

:06:46. > :06:49.genuinely went for the ball. We get that, thankfully. But I think

:06:50. > :06:52.overall with the chances, we deserved to win the game. How did

:06:53. > :06:57.the players respond to everything that's gone on? Well, I just thought

:06:58. > :07:04.the first half we were better than that. There seemed to be a lack of,

:07:05. > :07:08.lacking something, as if there's something eating away at them.

:07:09. > :07:14.Second time was better. Half-time, getting into them a bit because of

:07:15. > :07:19.it. Great three points for Motherwell, but how strange will the

:07:20. > :07:23.preparations have been for Hibs players Pat Fenlon leaving on Friday

:07:24. > :07:30.afternoon. It will be strange for them, a quick turn around for

:07:31. > :07:33.Sunday's game. It is strange especially the ones he brought in

:07:34. > :07:38.for the game. But looking at the team they played, it was the same

:07:39. > :07:44.team, so they have a job to do and it's not too bad. We will talk more

:07:45. > :07:49.about the managerial situation later on. But in terms of their form, not

:07:50. > :07:56.so great and again today, bit slack at the back. When it really mattered

:07:57. > :08:00.most, they needed a performance for Pat Fenlon, but it is easy to turn

:08:01. > :08:05.round and say it, but as a player, they care about their manager, we

:08:06. > :08:08.are going to do it for him. It was difficult for Jimmy Nichol

:08:09. > :08:11.yesterday, but they go into the game and defending is not there and that

:08:12. > :08:16.is one of the reasons why Pat Fenlon lost his job, poor defending that

:08:17. > :08:23.lost Hibs a goal yesterday. Let's look at the goal here. Was Ryan ma

:08:24. > :08:27.give earn at fault? The front two that shifted out of the area, that

:08:28. > :08:32.is for starters, they both got attracted to the ball. You are

:08:33. > :08:37.looking at ma given, he should do better. McManus wants it, attacks

:08:38. > :08:44.it, poor defending again all round. I think so, clever Motherwell, they

:08:45. > :08:49.try and move the front man and they take Stevenson gets attracted

:08:50. > :08:56.towards the man and leaves a gap where they attack. Hutchinson

:08:57. > :09:00.attacks the -- McManus attacks it brilliantly. Stuart not too upset

:09:01. > :09:04.about the red card situation. What did you make of that? It was a good

:09:05. > :09:10.foul. In the end he knew what he was doing. It was towards the end. I

:09:11. > :09:16.think the young fullback has got to help him. The fullback has got to

:09:17. > :09:20.come in to take Vine. Once he has gone the wrong side, I don't think

:09:21. > :09:25.there's anything else he can do. In the end, Hefernan has a good touch.

:09:26. > :09:28.Once he is there he is in trouble and should be five yards left of

:09:29. > :09:34.him. Once they gets there he has to take one for the team. It's paid off

:09:35. > :09:40.for them. They have won the game 1-0, so I think Stuart McCall will

:09:41. > :09:45.be a happy man to take three points. We will talk about Butcher and the

:09:46. > :09:48.Hibs managerial situation in depth shortly. How do you see that

:09:49. > :09:55.situation briefly developing over the next few days? We will see, it

:09:56. > :10:00.remains to be seen. Looking at it and you would say rod Petrie has got

:10:01. > :10:03.to get it right. There's been four or five managers going into Hibs and

:10:04. > :10:09.it's not gone right, and he is under pressure. It is going to cost top

:10:10. > :10:15.dollar to get Terry Butcher. They must make it the right signings.

:10:16. > :10:20.Hibs fans have not been happy. But if you get kwp butcher with the job

:10:21. > :10:25.he's done, you will have to pay top dollar. It is going to cost them a

:10:26. > :10:29.few bob if Hibs get him. We will revisit this shortly. Celtic started

:10:30. > :10:33.the weekend six points clear at the top of the table. Thoughts would

:10:34. > :10:38.soon turn to another Champions League mid-week mission, this time

:10:39. > :10:42.to Amsterdam. Dundee United were in the east enld of Glasgow looking for

:10:43. > :11:09.their first victory at Celtic Park in 20 years.

:11:10. > :11:14.Armstrong scored here last season. That is a lovely ball for Gary

:11:15. > :11:19.Mackay Steven. Really good play from United. So

:11:20. > :11:36.many attacking options here. Great one-two between stokes and

:11:37. > :11:54.Forest. It is a double clearance. Good defending by the youngster.

:11:55. > :12:02.That's Graham. Forrester forced into action. A couple of times the big

:12:03. > :12:13.Celtic number one has had to make a save.

:12:14. > :12:21.Didn't have the power to trouble the goalkeeper. A bit more pace on the

:12:22. > :12:23.ball perhaps he might have been able to generate more power in that

:12:24. > :12:32.header. Celtic looking for the opener before

:12:33. > :12:48.the break. That is for Ambrose. United managing to scoop it clear.

:12:49. > :12:58.What a run that was from Armstrong, he's in here and it's 1-0 to the

:12:59. > :13:07.visitors. A superb goal for Dundee United. Stuart Armstrong, finishing

:13:08. > :13:09.it off, but it was the Celtic rearguard was open, still had a lot

:13:10. > :13:18.to do, but do it he did. United think this came off van dyke.

:13:19. > :13:49.They have a corner, do Celtic. It's over again. Anthony Stokes was

:13:50. > :13:50.the match winner the last time the teams met at the end of August.

:13:51. > :14:09.Another good ball. Stokes is in. United just managing to keep Celtic

:14:10. > :14:13.at arm's length in the first half. They are looking for another one

:14:14. > :14:15.here. Armstrong almost in, but for a terrific challenge from van Dyke. It

:14:16. > :14:25.was good defending. Celtic continuing to knock on the

:14:26. > :14:35.Dundee United door. That should have been 2-0. How he's

:14:36. > :14:51.missed that, I don't know. Terrific instinct reaction from the

:14:52. > :15:18.goalkeeper. He takes the plaudits. Clock continuing to tick down.

:15:19. > :15:23.Dundee United haven't won here since 19 92 and that run is going to

:15:24. > :15:29.continue by the looks for things because Charlie Mulgrew has rescued

:15:30. > :15:33.a point in stoppage time. Flicking home the cross. Dundee United look

:15:34. > :15:47.to the heavens, they cannot believe this. I am very happy we dug out a

:15:48. > :15:50.point. We could have done better at times, particularly in the final

:15:51. > :15:55.third, but we have preserved an unbeaten run, so I am happy about

:15:56. > :15:58.that. We have four or five back for the game on Wednesday night. I

:15:59. > :16:04.thought we were going to see it through. I thought the players were

:16:05. > :16:08.fantastic for the first minute, the effort they put in and passed the

:16:09. > :16:13.ball well at times and caused problems. We were gutted at losing a

:16:14. > :16:18.goal late on, but it shows how far they have come that sappoint

:16:19. > :16:22.disappointed. Good point for Dundee United. One of those points,

:16:23. > :16:28.probably feels like a defeat for the Dundee United players, the way they

:16:29. > :16:31.lost at the end there. How good were United yesterday? Excellent. Just

:16:32. > :16:37.the way they set up the play, four, two, three, one and two sitting

:16:38. > :16:46.midfielders, Rankin and Gomez, this is a kick out, but it is the type of

:16:47. > :16:50.movement they showed all day, to get forward at will. It was a good first

:16:51. > :16:53.half, Celtic played their part, had a few chances but United were always

:16:54. > :16:59.dangerous in their movement. It was right throughout the game, great

:17:00. > :17:03.ball there, gets Mackay Steven, they were excellent from turning defence

:17:04. > :17:08.into attack. And they caused Celtic problems. You can see the movement

:17:09. > :17:19.here again. That is Rankin, he goes forward. The de defenders defenders

:17:20. > :17:24.are poor. Take nothing away from them, it is an excellent finish,

:17:25. > :17:29.great movement. A neat finish in the end from Armstrong. You have seen

:17:30. > :17:34.Dundee United this season, they have this huge attacking potential. This

:17:35. > :17:39.was a glaering miss from Graham. It was a fantastic ball N he is caught

:17:40. > :17:44.in two minds. Looks like he is going to go for the heading volley but for

:17:45. > :17:50.me it is the two defensive midfielders, they do so much work,

:17:51. > :17:54.cover so much ground, allows the front four to go and play. They get

:17:55. > :17:59.the fullbacks high and wide as well. Two really good attacking fullbacks.

:18:00. > :18:04.Robertson has been a star this year. They are a great counterattacking

:18:05. > :18:08.team. Playing at Parkhead when they can play on the counter probably

:18:09. > :18:12.suited them. So close to getting that first victory in 20 years.

:18:13. > :18:16.Celtic created chances but once again passed up plenty of chances.

:18:17. > :18:25.First half, they were excellent as well. It was a real end to end game.

:18:26. > :18:31.Stokes had a few chances. You see stokes cut nothing here. The second

:18:32. > :18:33.half, one shot, they had an unbelievable save from, usually

:18:34. > :18:39.Celtic, that is the save there, what a save it is, but usually they are

:18:40. > :18:51.throwing the kitchen sink at you, the goalie is picking off save after

:18:52. > :18:54.save. I have seen it years, year after year, at Celtic Park if you

:18:55. > :19:01.are 1-0 up, you are holding on by the skin of your teeth. United will

:19:02. > :19:06.be disappointed to lose that goal. They want to stay in this unbeaten

:19:07. > :19:10.run. It sounds bad to say, but they have some massive games coming up. I

:19:11. > :19:13.think it is very, very difficult to play these high intensity games all

:19:14. > :19:18.the time. People might say why can't they, but it takes so much out of

:19:19. > :19:25.them mentally and physically. There, to come away with a 1-1 draw, Neil

:19:26. > :19:28.was delighted. You could tell he was delighted. Mulgrew has gone in

:19:29. > :19:34.there, wasn't a great ball n but he's gone and attacked it. I think

:19:35. > :19:39.Dundee United will be very disaprointed but it was a good point

:19:40. > :19:47.for Celtic. Ajax on Wednesday night for Celtic. Still to come on

:19:48. > :19:51.Sportscene tonight: Rain of biblical proportions in

:19:52. > :19:57.Paisley as St Mirren took on Ross County.

:19:58. > :20:01.With Celtic stalling slightly the chance for the trailing pack to

:20:02. > :20:04.perhaps make up some ground. Inverness had such an exhilerating

:20:05. > :20:09.start to the season had faltered slightly losing their last two

:20:10. > :20:15.league matches. Terry butcher keen to ensure it was just a blip.

:20:16. > :20:17.Kilmarnock won their last two league matches putting to an end a horrible

:20:18. > :20:36.start to the season. Kilmarnock looking to win three

:20:37. > :20:57.straight league games. One change, Mackenzie replaces Barry Nicholson.

:20:58. > :21:08.Straight to the goalkeeper. Jackson has a good strike on him. Watkins

:21:09. > :21:15.gets involved. Watkins with a chip ball for Mackay. Deflection! Kaly

:21:16. > :21:26.thrustle take the lead after six minutes. -- Cali Thistle take the

:21:27. > :21:29.lead after six minutes. That looks like an own goal.

:21:30. > :22:02.Goalkeeper sent the wrong way. Draper made a great run. Didn't have

:22:03. > :22:17.a great finish though. Just too high.

:22:18. > :22:22.He's on his favourite left side and opened up for them and he curls it

:22:23. > :22:26.in. He is aplague out of position as a

:22:27. > :22:33.right back, normally a left fullback. Looked like he was out of

:22:34. > :22:34.position here. Wonderful finish from Graham, his first goal in over a

:22:35. > :23:04.year. Darren Barr, that is his first

:23:05. > :23:08.Kilmarnock goal and it is a great finish, too. Kilmarnock find

:23:09. > :23:15.themselves back in the game, with 15 minutes to play.

:23:16. > :23:37.Danny Williams is up. It's knocked behind.

:23:38. > :23:47.A job well done I think. Kilmarnock are sticky oi poenents. They passed

:23:48. > :23:50.it well. They look like a threat, pushing four men up at the end. We

:23:51. > :23:55.needed the third goal to kill them off. They put us under a lot of

:23:56. > :23:57.pressure, they had their wind on the side as well, it was difficult

:23:58. > :24:00.conditions. The way they played in the second half, if you keep playing

:24:01. > :24:04.like that and putting teams under that much pressure, you get your

:24:05. > :24:09.rewards. Front of the newspapers today, speculation on television and

:24:10. > :24:13.roo that Hibs are interested. It was on the front page of a national

:24:14. > :24:17.newspaper this morning. So I was told. That is all it is,

:24:18. > :24:21.speculation. It is a headline. We will see what happens. But, no, as

:24:22. > :24:26.far as I am concerned, that is all it is, speculation. Terry Butcher

:24:27. > :24:33.batting it. Huge speculation, he could be the next Hibs manager. How

:24:34. > :24:37.big a loss would Terry Butcher be to Inverness. A huge loss. You can

:24:38. > :24:42.understand why his name has been linked. He has done a fantastic job

:24:43. > :24:46.in the last couple of seasons. He is a character. He's one of these guys

:24:47. > :24:50.that seems to get the best out of his players. It would be a big loss

:24:51. > :24:55.for Inverness, especially up there. Again it is only speculation, there

:24:56. > :24:59.will be a few more managers names popping up in the next week or so. I

:25:00. > :25:01.don't think it will be Terry. I think he will be one of the

:25:02. > :25:06.frontrunners. He turned down Barnsley, he seems to enjoy life up

:25:07. > :25:12.in Inverness, you could look at the Hibs job as a bit of a poisoned

:25:13. > :25:16.chalice? Well the way it's gone you would have to say that, a right good

:25:17. > :25:23.job as well, if you are looking at Hibs and the size of club and what

:25:24. > :25:27.might be there if you get it right. But it's certainly enticing, a hard

:25:28. > :25:31.decision for him, a great team spirit up there, he's done well. He

:25:32. > :25:38.will leave a really good group of players for somebody to take over.

:25:39. > :25:42.Hibs need a -- they demand a certain style of play. The fans want that

:25:43. > :25:49.and they want a win. It is a tough job to go in there. Does Terry Butch

:25:50. > :25:58.irfit into that? I think managers can adapt and hi gets results. I

:25:59. > :26:01.think he can get players. To go in there and sort out the dressing

:26:02. > :26:05.room, if there are problems, there are a few stories leaking out. Let's

:26:06. > :26:09.look at the goals, it was an important victory for Inverness,

:26:10. > :26:15.because they lost their last two league games. What did you make of

:26:16. > :26:20.the goals? Good play from Mackay. They have been unlucky in the last

:26:21. > :26:24.couple of weeks, but get a bit of luck there. There is the strike,

:26:25. > :26:29.going wide but sometimes you get your luck. It was good play. In this

:26:30. > :26:40.goal, the young lad Johnson switches off a bit. I played right back a

:26:41. > :26:46.couple of times but got hooked after 60 minutes I was that bad. It was a

:26:47. > :26:54.great finish. It was maybe naive for Johnson great going forward. It

:26:55. > :26:57.shows you the benefits of that, because people having a go,

:26:58. > :27:01.Stevenson playing right back, you have Graham playing right back,

:27:02. > :27:05.comes in and it is the only way he scores, because it suits his left

:27:06. > :27:09.foot shot. You have seen in the last couple of years, left siders playing

:27:10. > :27:12.on the right side, and I think I always used to have a problem

:27:13. > :27:18.playing against left ciders out there, it is difficult to play

:27:19. > :27:26.against. You had a lot of problems! . You don't win anything with kids,

:27:27. > :27:30.apart from Edinburgh derbies. Hearts youngsters may have been written off

:27:31. > :27:35.as relegation certainties but they are staring victory over Hibs meant

:27:36. > :27:40.they should have gone into a home match brimming with confidence. The

:27:41. > :27:48.Perth side also had a spring in their steps.

:27:49. > :27:54.There was hope within Tynecastle that Wednesday night's cup win over

:27:55. > :27:59.Hibs would give the league campaign a boost it requires. When Walker

:28:00. > :28:05.came close with this effort early on, confidence within the home fans

:28:06. > :28:09.began to grow. Lockside hadn't won at home in the league since August.

:28:10. > :28:14.Saints boss was hoping his side would grab three points on the road

:28:15. > :28:18.for the first time this season. It was Hearts who continued to push

:28:19. > :28:25.forward. Stevenson knocking the ball down for Jason Holt, his effort just

:28:26. > :28:30.over. The striking partnership of Stevie May has Hasselbaink was

:28:31. > :28:35.beginning to click into gear. However on this occasion, McDonnell

:28:36. > :28:41.pulled off a point blank save to deny saits the lead. Mistakes by

:28:42. > :28:45.Hearts defence are part of the reason for the club's poor run of

:28:46. > :28:56.form and once again questions will be asked. Hasselbaink played in

:28:57. > :29:05.Chris Miller, his cut back with aid of a deflection bouncing high for

:29:06. > :29:13.Hasselbaink to nod home. Hasselbaink allowed time and space to drift in

:29:14. > :29:18.between the central defenders. Magee scored a winner against Aberdeen

:29:19. > :29:22.earlier this season for Hearts and came within inches of an equaliser

:29:23. > :29:27.here. It was Walker with space down the right hand side, his cross not

:29:28. > :29:33.box, Magee stretching his leg out, couldn't get enough on the ball to

:29:34. > :29:38.force it into the net. Hasselbaink is not well-known for scoring with

:29:39. > :29:43.his head, but feels he should have found the net for a second time this

:29:44. > :29:48.afternoon when he was in between Magee and McGowan and heading over

:29:49. > :29:52.the cross bar. Saints started the second half in whirlwind fashion and

:29:53. > :29:58.scored a second in controversial circumstances. McDonnell clearly in

:29:59. > :30:03.an offside position when he received the pass. There was nothing he could

:30:04. > :30:09.do about Stevie May's sublime finish.

:30:10. > :30:16.A poor call by the standside assistant. But nevertheless, a

:30:17. > :30:28.magnificent finish from Saints top scorer. May finding the net for the

:30:29. > :30:34.ninth time this season. Saints almost made it three. Mackay's cross

:30:35. > :30:40.Hasselbaink with a chance and on this occasion over the top of

:30:41. > :30:50.McDonald's goal. One last chance for the home side, Carrick lewding the

:30:51. > :30:56.Saints defenders before firing a shot over the cross bar. There was

:30:57. > :31:01.to be Saints day. Wednesday night was a huge game and maybe

:31:02. > :31:05.psychologically it's taken a lot out of players, but at the same time St

:31:06. > :31:08.Johnstone played the other night as well, so I am not going to use that

:31:09. > :31:13.as an excuse. We never started the second half well enough. It's been a

:31:14. > :31:21.tough week but a great week, three wins and three clean sheets, and

:31:22. > :31:24.really pleased with the effort and performance today because we showed

:31:25. > :31:29.a lot of quality at times. You enjoyed watching that. A great win

:31:30. > :31:32.for your side. How good is this partnership, this develops

:31:33. > :31:40.partnership between May and Hasselbaink. It is good at the

:31:41. > :31:45.moment. The partnership between Stevie and him is really good. If I

:31:46. > :31:49.had to put these two upfront, obviously scored last Sunday and

:31:50. > :31:53.scored again a couple of goals each. Good play by Nigel here, managed to

:31:54. > :32:01.shift the ball quickly and continue his run. He wanted the ball there.

:32:02. > :32:06.Great for your team, but McGowan should be throwing himself at that.

:32:07. > :32:14.Nigel wanted to win it again. Target man in the box. It was good. It was

:32:15. > :32:20.a decent game first half, pretty even. We got a little bit of luck

:32:21. > :32:25.here, a touch offside, but again, a lot of momentum in the second half,

:32:26. > :32:32.started the second half really well. That was a great finish. He can do

:32:33. > :32:36.no wrong at the moment. The Scotland squad is announced tomorrow. Is

:32:37. > :32:41.there a chance May could be in it? Probably too soon. It would be great

:32:42. > :32:45.if he is, I would be over the moon if he is, but he's developing, we

:32:46. > :32:50.have been so pleased with him this season. Stephen MacLean, he is up

:32:51. > :32:53.playing with somebody with so much experience and he helps him. Some of

:32:54. > :32:57.the things he learns during the game, we can't teach him. It is only

:32:58. > :33:02.when you playing with somebody upfront, he is getting better and

:33:03. > :33:07.better. He wanted to stay at St Johnstone, which is a massive thing.

:33:08. > :33:11.He wanted to stay. He wants to improve and play every week. If he

:33:12. > :33:19.carries on doing what he is doing, he's got a great chance. I see more

:33:20. > :33:23.Scotland caps in the future. Are you teaching those celebrations as well?

:33:24. > :33:31.You are on a great run at the moment. Great win against Motherwell

:33:32. > :33:35.last weekend. Stevie May and Hasselbaink very much at the fore.

:33:36. > :33:43.How high can they finish this season, could you finish second?

:33:44. > :33:54.Make sure we are safe, that is the biggest thing, make sure we are

:33:55. > :33:59.safe. We are bringing through more youngsters as well. It is tough. But

:34:00. > :34:03.here again, mortgageon played extremely well, a tough game for us

:34:04. > :34:07.and a bit of luck at the end of the game. As far as the seedson is

:34:08. > :34:10.going, a blip after the European games, we have managed to get

:34:11. > :34:18.ourselves back on track and hopefully that can continue. Wru do

:34:19. > :34:24.you see St Johnstone finishing? If they get some work like that with

:34:25. > :34:27.their goalkeeper, they should be finishing seshgd. They will be up

:34:28. > :34:36.there, good team spirit, good momentum. You would expect them

:34:37. > :34:40.fourth. That is your target. The Scottish rain is something we are

:34:41. > :34:45.used to. It can lead to faster pitches and more exciting football,

:34:46. > :34:48.it can also ruin everything. St Mirren and Ross County would be

:34:49. > :34:51.doused by the elements in Paisley. So, too was our match commentator

:34:52. > :35:21.John Barns. Ed Neat turn by McGowan and off the

:35:22. > :35:34.cross bar. Tenacious play by the St Mirren

:35:35. > :35:43.player. A good turn and a good effort.

:35:44. > :36:01.Paul McGowan, scores for St Mirren. After 25 minutes. A fine finish. As

:36:02. > :36:05.others lost their footing, he managed to remain composed and in

:36:06. > :36:19.the end it was a Nieto poke into the corner. -- neat toe poke not corner.

:36:20. > :36:32.That's number two. Another delicate finish there by the big striker. A

:36:33. > :36:36.lovely through pass there from John McGinn and Thomson didn't hang about

:36:37. > :36:46.before dispatching it beyond Mark Brown. Conditions are getting worse.

:36:47. > :36:51.The rain continues to fall. That pass held up in a piddle and that's

:36:52. > :36:59.allowed St Mirren to go on the attack. The effort carried away by

:37:00. > :37:01.Brown. The underfoot conditions setting up that opportunity for St

:37:02. > :37:17.Mirren. The referee has called a halt to the

:37:18. > :37:23.game and he is encouraging the players to make their way towards

:37:24. > :37:28.the tunnel. That was that. The match was indeed abandoned. Now it's not

:37:29. > :37:31.very often we would show you footage from an abandoned match but we

:37:32. > :37:35.wanted to give you an idea of what the conditions were like in this

:37:36. > :37:39.match. It sparked massive debate. The referee spent half an hour

:37:40. > :37:43.trying to decide whether or not the match could continue. Eventually he

:37:44. > :37:48.decided it couldn't continue, and afterwards he spoke to us. When we

:37:49. > :37:52.came out for the second half, the pitch had become worse than what it

:37:53. > :37:58.was before half-time. Players having to check their tackles, watch their

:37:59. > :38:03.run, the ball was thickened and the pitch had become unplayable and

:38:04. > :38:08.dangerous. The referee has prime responsibility for the players ae

:38:09. > :38:11.safety. I gave the ground staff at least two attempts to try and work

:38:12. > :38:16.hard on the pitch. They did work very hard, I am grateful to them for

:38:17. > :38:19.that. My prime responsibility is for the safety of the players and we

:38:20. > :38:23.deemed it wasn't safe enough to continue the match. There is no

:38:24. > :38:27.doubt in my mind we would have given ourselves a very good opportunity to

:38:28. > :38:34.go on and pick up all three valuable points today and the way the games

:38:35. > :38:38.are going, it looks as if ewe could have jumped a couple places on the

:38:39. > :38:45.back of that. Two games back-to-back abandoned. Yes, it is frustrating,

:38:46. > :38:48.but today it is obviously different, because we are obviously behind in

:38:49. > :38:54.the game. We had an opportunity to maybe score just after half-time.

:38:55. > :38:58.But all in all, it is difficult to accept but we have to accept that,

:38:59. > :39:03.because it is the correct decision. So, what is it the right decision by

:39:04. > :39:06.the referee? I think so, when you look at the pictures in the first

:39:07. > :39:13.half and second half, there was a big difference. In the end the

:39:14. > :39:18.safety for the players, the conditions there, it's farcical.

:39:19. > :39:22.Players are risking getting injured and that is what you want to ajoyed.

:39:23. > :39:27.You are disappointed, you have been making every effort to say the pitch

:39:28. > :39:35.is great and get it along and don't worry about the puddles. It is

:39:36. > :39:39.always tough for the referee. He can't win, whatever decision he

:39:40. > :39:46.makes, people are going to have a go at him. But looking at that, he said

:39:47. > :39:51.the safety is paramount and for the younger viewers, a few years back,

:39:52. > :39:55.same conditions, momentum took McCoist, smashed his jaw, he was out

:39:56. > :40:01.for months, safety was the most important thing there and the

:40:02. > :40:05.referee called it right. In Dutch football they start off when they

:40:06. > :40:09.replay the match from the point they finished, so they would play 38

:40:10. > :40:17.minutes of this match with St Mirren leading 2-0. Good idea? No. Why not?

:40:18. > :40:22.What rules do you make, you keep it the same 22 that were on the pitch,

:40:23. > :40:25.when will you get that, somebody may get injured. It is a hard one. The

:40:26. > :40:30.referee called it right. You have to start the game again. Looking at the

:40:31. > :40:34.goals, Tom will be devastated, because the water helped his touch.

:40:35. > :40:38.It was an unbelievable first touch for the goal. It is one of those

:40:39. > :40:42.things. But they will need to start the game again. Nothing lost,

:40:43. > :40:43.nothing gained for St Mirren but what about the rest of the sides.

:40:44. > :40:58.Let's look at the table. Still one match to be played this

:40:59. > :41:07.weekend, Aberdeen with a chance to regain second place in the table if

:41:08. > :41:16.they can manage a win at home to par tick thistle. You were at this match

:41:17. > :41:24.and if Aberdeen get a similar result tomorrow, they will be delighted.

:41:25. > :41:28.They played well this game, even though sometimes they might lose

:41:29. > :41:38.goals thistle, they usually play a lot of football. Aberdeen to their

:41:39. > :41:44.credit, they were a different class that day. Thistle tomorrow, it is a

:41:45. > :41:50.tricky one for Aberdeen. They have the momentum, they are still in the

:41:51. > :41:55.cup. Thistle are doing well. Two good performances one against Celtic

:41:56. > :41:58.and they beat Inverness. How do you see it going tomorrow? It will be

:41:59. > :42:03.tough for thistle. They have had an excellent start to the season.

:42:04. > :42:10.Aberdeen have a lot of their big players back. It will be a tricky

:42:11. > :42:14.one for Thistle. Will Aberdeen finish second? I wouldn't want to

:42:15. > :42:21.put pressure on Derek, but they have a good squad. He's building a squad

:42:22. > :42:29.that is getting stronger and strong stronger. Is that how you feel,

:42:30. > :42:32.second place for Aberdeen, that was your tip at the start? I have said

:42:33. > :42:36.all season, good mix of youth and experience, they have that momentum.

:42:37. > :42:42.Certainly have confidence. They will be should be finishing second with

:42:43. > :42:45.the squad they have. We will have highlights of tomorrow's match on

:42:46. > :42:51.the BBC sport website from midnight tomorrow night. All the other

:42:52. > :42:54.matches are already there. Let's look at tomorrow's back pages to see

:42:55. > :43:21.what the guys in frint are saying. Ajax manager, having a tough time of

:43:22. > :43:24.it in the Dutch league, they play Celtic on Wednesday night. Let's

:43:25. > :43:28.talk about that Champions League match. Celtic obviously hoping for

:43:29. > :43:32.victory in Amsterdam. Do you think he can get it? I think they K the

:43:33. > :43:37.problem is that Ajax are struggling in the league. Might be a relief,

:43:38. > :43:41.they are quite a young team, it might not work in Celtic's favour.

:43:42. > :43:44.But they have a great chance. Probably the key game in the league

:43:45. > :43:48.for them. If they can get a result over there, there is still a good

:43:49. > :43:53.chance. Do you see Celtic managing to get three points on Wednesday

:43:54. > :43:57.night? They might have Commons back and this Ajax defence doesn't look

:43:58. > :44:01.the strongest. Big bonus for them, those players back, but away

:44:02. > :44:05.performances have been excellent in this campaign so far. And in the

:44:06. > :44:09.last couple of seasons. Certainly they can win it, but they would be

:44:10. > :44:16.delighted with a point, because to get to that AC Milan game at home, I

:44:17. > :44:20.think Celtic will win that and hopefully results elsewhere will

:44:21. > :44:23.enable them to go through. They have been excellent so far in the

:44:24. > :44:27.campaign. They deserve that bit of luck. I think they could take

:44:28. > :44:31.something out of the Ajax game on Wednesday. We shall see. That is all

:44:32. > :44:36.we have time for this week. Thanks to Callum and Billy. Hope you

:44:37. > :44:40.managed to avoid the downpower this weekend. -- down pour this weekend,

:44:41. > :44:46.at least it wasn't snoechlt good night.
