:00:00. > :00:07.Hello, good evening, and welcome to Sportscene.

:00:08. > :00:55.Distant memories. Recent memories. Seizing the moment. Carved out on

:00:56. > :00:58.the famous old trophy. Tomorrow, clubs who only lifted the cup in

:00:59. > :01:04.black and white against more colourful recent winners. Celtic are

:01:05. > :01:10.the William Hill Scottish Cup winners for 2013. This is history.

:01:11. > :01:18.the William Hill Scottish Cup Today, a throwback, two finals from

:01:19. > :01:23.this millennium. He scores. The 2003 Hampden Park showpiece. And the

:01:24. > :01:31.chance to avenge 2010. David Goodwillie. Magic. Recent memories,

:01:32. > :01:35.distant memories, making memories. It has been a day to remember in the

:01:36. > :01:40.William Hill Scottish Cup. Over the next 50 minutes we will bring you

:01:41. > :01:47.highlights from both of today's quarterfinal matches. A memorable

:01:48. > :01:50.day calls for memorable guest. They are Michael Stewart and Pat Nevin.

:01:51. > :01:55.We start with a repeat of the 2010 Scottish Cup final. Ross County had

:01:56. > :01:58.never beaten Dundee United in this competition, United bottom of the

:01:59. > :02:06.Premiership, what they did beat Ross County in the league last weekend.

:02:07. > :02:11.In Dingwall for us was Liam McLeod. Dundee United stepping out for what

:02:12. > :02:14.is their 14th cup quarterfinal in succession. The twice winners are

:02:15. > :02:20.aiming to put their Premiership trials and tribulations to one side

:02:21. > :02:24.against the team they beat to win the second of those Scottish cups

:02:25. > :02:32.and 2010. Lots have changed since that day. Then a first division

:02:33. > :02:36.side, Ross County our eight places better off than they are more

:02:37. > :02:42.illustrious opponents. They are aiming to reach their second

:02:43. > :02:45.semifinal of the season. Jim McIntyre brings top scorers Liam

:02:46. > :02:53.Boyce and Brian Graham back into his side. The latter featured in a

:02:54. > :03:02.substitute -- as a substitute in the 2014 final.

:03:03. > :03:06.The normal Dundee United goalkeeper is injured, so Luis Zwich start

:03:07. > :03:15.single for the first time since the defeat by Celtic on it over. Ryan

:03:16. > :03:21.Dow comes into the team. Sean Dillon, the club captain, plays. It

:03:22. > :03:25.is also the first art of the season for Henri Anier. Jim McIntyre

:03:26. > :03:30.resolve smiles. No wonder, a quarterfinal at home, and the League

:03:31. > :03:36.Cup final against Hibernian next Sunday. The referee is Craig

:03:37. > :03:42.Thomson. He has handled the final of this competition on three separate

:03:43. > :03:49.occasions. The fourth Scottish Cup meeting between the two, the 2010

:03:50. > :03:57.final clash was a day for Dundee United in the sun. Can Ross County

:03:58. > :04:00.beat them for the first time? He is confident they can beat the drop and

:04:01. > :04:04.confident they can go further in this tournament. The ball by Paul

:04:05. > :04:08.Dixon. Richard Foster did know much Dixon. Richard Foster did know much

:04:09. > :04:15.-- did not know much about that. That is a great touch by Liam Boyce.

:04:16. > :04:24.Paul Paton is floundering in his wake. Liam Boyce cannot turn it home

:04:25. > :04:29.after Luis Zwich saves. This is great payback -- great play by Liam

:04:30. > :04:35.Boyce. Dundee United did not deal with it at all. It was a lovely ball

:04:36. > :04:43.by Irvine. Luis Zwich saved with his feet. It could have gone a where. He

:04:44. > :04:49.was inviting the predatory Liam Boyce to shoot from six yards. Paul

:04:50. > :04:57.Paton Bidwell as well. It is the closest we have come to a goal in

:04:58. > :05:03.the cup tie. Inside to Woods. He scored the first in the League Cup

:05:04. > :05:10.victory against Celtic. Irvine stabs it forward and gets it back

:05:11. > :05:20.immediately. This is a good spell. A good spell for County. Knocking the

:05:21. > :05:30.ball about well in the final third. The snapshot from Irvine. Graham

:05:31. > :05:41.digging it out, looking for Jonathan Franks. Mark Durnan Alex Tettey and

:05:42. > :05:54.seedy corner. -- Mark Durnan concedes the corner. Davies. Flicked

:05:55. > :06:01.home by Liam Boyce. He ends a goal drought and puts Ross County in the

:06:02. > :06:05.driving seat in this last eight tie. He had not scored in eight, and that

:06:06. > :06:17.is 18 for the season. Simplicity itself. One corner, two headers, and

:06:18. > :06:30.in the blink of an eye, it is 1-0 to Ross County. This is Richard Foster.

:06:31. > :06:37.Liam Boyce, great dummy. I showed for handball, but the referee

:06:38. > :06:45.disagrees. -- the claim for handball. He was onside. That could

:06:46. > :06:50.be a big let off for Dundee United. I think Liam Boyce knows that. There

:06:51. > :06:57.was no flag against the Northern Irishman. A great chance for a Liam

:06:58. > :07:03.Boyce to make it two. He has had a good few opportunities, that is

:07:04. > :07:07.first. United had taken things up at the back in away matches in

:07:08. > :07:11.particular. That goal from Liam Boyce in the first half was the

:07:12. > :07:19.first that United have conceded since the match at Dens Park in

:07:20. > :07:24.January. Irvine, looking for Graham. It is only half cleared. What an

:07:25. > :07:32.effort from Irvine. He thought he had scored. This is a cracking hit

:07:33. > :07:36.from Jackson Irvine. Controlled, powerful. Luis Zwich was rooted to

:07:37. > :07:48.the spot. It was the wrong side of the post.

:07:49. > :08:00.This is Ryan Dow, coming more and more into this game. You sense there

:08:01. > :08:09.is a goal and as for Dundee United. There were three of them last week.

:08:10. > :08:16.It was not the best ball from Blair Spittal. Michael Gardyne giving it

:08:17. > :08:30.away. Mark Durnan. What is he going to do? Henri Anier. It is 1-1. Henri

:08:31. > :08:38.Anier scores for Dundee United for the first time in the campaign. It

:08:39. > :08:47.has drawn the Tangerines level in the Highlands. The Estonian pounces.

:08:48. > :08:54.Just when Dundee United needed a hero.

:08:55. > :09:02.Henri Anier has been booked for his celebrations. He well might be

:09:03. > :09:06.bothered about that now. Good play by Mark Durnan. It looked like it

:09:07. > :09:13.had gotten away from him. He was going for a goal himself. He did

:09:14. > :09:17.enough. The ricochet favours United. They have not had much luck this

:09:18. > :09:26.season. Henri Anier was there to gobble it up in his first start of

:09:27. > :09:34.the season. Mark Durnan, he switched off. He has brought Brian Graham

:09:35. > :09:38.down. That will be a penalty, and surely a red card for Mark Durnan.

:09:39. > :09:44.It has got to be a red card. It is a red card. What was he thinking?

:09:45. > :09:50.Dundee United had just hauled themselves back into this cup tie,

:09:51. > :09:56.and for a split-second Mark Durnan switched off. He got himself in all

:09:57. > :09:59.of trouble. He holds Brian Graham to the ground. He has presented Ross

:10:00. > :10:04.County with an immediate chance to the ground. He has presented Ross

:10:05. > :10:13.restore their lead. Brian Graham, against his old club. He has the

:10:14. > :10:24.chance to restore the county lead. They are playing the ten men. It is

:10:25. > :10:32.Brian Graham, it is 2-1. Quake as a flash, this game turns again. It is

:10:33. > :10:41.nine for the season for the big striker. Luis Zwich went the right

:10:42. > :11:03.way. Brian Graham managed to squeeze it home. He will be devastated,

:11:04. > :11:06.without a doubt. Henri Anier, who briefly had belief coursing through

:11:07. > :11:16.United veins. It is still alive for them. John Rankin floats attend. It

:11:17. > :11:21.is Henri Anier again, stunning. What a stunning 510 minutes we have had

:11:22. > :11:28.in Dingwall. Henri Anier with the double. This is a brilliant finish

:11:29. > :11:39.in Dingwall. Henri Anier with the from Henri Anier. As cool as you

:11:40. > :11:43.like. It flicked off the head of Andrew Davies, which allowed it to

:11:44. > :11:58.foul for Henri Anier. That is a lovely finish. -- to fall. Good

:11:59. > :12:04.footwork from Blair Spittal. He has been a shining light for Dundee this

:12:05. > :12:11.season. It has been a dark tunnel for United, most of it. That was a

:12:12. > :12:16.heavy touch from Alex Schalk. Dillon does what he has to do, and that is

:12:17. > :12:20.tackle Alex Schalk and win the ball back for United, just as it looked

:12:21. > :12:26.like he was going to slice open the United rearguard. Henri Anier, going

:12:27. > :12:34.from one end to the other. He has polluted back. -- pulled it back.

:12:35. > :12:38.Ryan Dow is having a go at the rectory because he has had to

:12:39. > :12:49.deviate from his run because of the position of the referee. -- having a

:12:50. > :12:53.go at the referee. You wonder if the referee had not been there, would

:12:54. > :13:00.Ryan Dow have got their ahead of Irvine. This is Irvine. You would

:13:01. > :13:07.not predict who would win this, if there is to be a winner today.

:13:08. > :13:17.Michael Gardyne. That is unlucky. That has taken a touch.

:13:18. > :13:21.United would have held their breath as Gardyne got it on to his left

:13:22. > :13:36.foot. There is still time to find a winner

:13:37. > :13:46.for both. Michael Gardyne. Good play, swept in. That is a big

:13:47. > :13:56.chance. Raffaele De Vita at the back post. If United went on to win this

:13:57. > :13:59.match today, and go through to the semifinals, what character it will

:14:00. > :14:03.have shown, what confidence it will give them for the matches that lie

:14:04. > :14:12.ahead. There are loads of big games coming up for them. This is Ryan

:14:13. > :14:24.Dow. He goes to Blair Spittal. In it comes for Mckay. Unbelievable. Mixu

:14:25. > :14:31.Paatelainen punches the air with delight. Well he might. The ten men

:14:32. > :14:37.of Dundee United have just gone in front for the first time today. It

:14:38. > :14:46.will surely seal their passage to the last four. A beautiful ball by

:14:47. > :14:51.Spithill. -- Blair Spittal. Billy Mckay does not miss from there. This

:14:52. > :15:01.coming in the last minute of normal time. What an afternoon for Mixu

:15:02. > :15:12.Paatelainen. It is not overreact. That is Liam Boyce. Liam Boyce

:15:13. > :15:19.thought he had salvaged a replay. It was a nice header by Alex Schalk.

:15:20. > :15:27.The outside of the boot, and it goes wide. Craig Thomson's whistle

:15:28. > :15:32.signals that Dundee United into the semifinals of the William Hill

:15:33. > :15:39.Scottish Cup. A quite astonishing second half. Twice county lead

:15:40. > :15:44.through Liam Boyce and a Brian Graham penalty after Mark Durnan was

:15:45. > :15:48.sent off. Henri Anier levelled the tie twice before Billy Mckay's

:15:49. > :15:53.header from inside the six yard box in the final minute of the night

:15:54. > :16:00.they had sent county, the League Cup finalists, spinning out of the

:16:01. > :16:06.Scottish Cup in Dingwall. In the Highlands, after an incredible and

:16:07. > :16:12.pulse baiting -- pulsating Scottish Cup final, 3-2.

:16:13. > :16:19.Obviously, I did not realise how late it was in the game when I

:16:20. > :16:22.scored. I managed to find myself a bit of space in the box and got on

:16:23. > :16:28.the end of it. He liked it to get the win. The way the game had gone,

:16:29. > :16:34.going down to ten men, being behind, we showed great character. It is a

:16:35. > :16:40.golden opportunity to get to another national semifinal. Frankly, we did

:16:41. > :16:49.not stop the crosses for the three goals. It is not good enough. We

:16:50. > :16:53.have got to get out, get close. United were down to ten men and we

:16:54. > :16:57.seemed to stand off them and allow courses to come into the box. We

:16:58. > :17:04.have got to be much better than that. It was a real sore one to

:17:05. > :17:08.take. What an interesting season Dundee United are having. After the

:17:09. > :17:11.final whistle, I spoke to Mixu Paatelainen. Thank you very much for

:17:12. > :17:16.joining us. Huge congratulations on your victory today - you must be

:17:17. > :17:21.thrilled with the character shown by your players? Absolutely. The boys

:17:22. > :17:25.were fantastic. To be fair, in the last few weeks, we have shown a

:17:26. > :17:32.great woman never say die attitude. And that is what we had today. -- a

:17:33. > :17:37.great, never say die attitude. It makes the journey back down a lot

:17:38. > :17:42.easier. It look like the sending-off of Mark Durnan might be a turning

:17:43. > :17:47.point in this match - did you have any complaints about the decision?

:17:48. > :17:51.No, I thought it was a red card. I thought it was a penalty. The

:17:52. > :17:56.referee was bang on. Obviously, we should have cleared that situation

:17:57. > :18:02.much earlier, but we didn't. But prior to that, the way we played, I

:18:03. > :18:09.felt we were the better team in the first half and the early part of the

:18:10. > :18:13.second half. We got back into the game and then the incident happened,

:18:14. > :18:19.2-1 down. We felt that because of the way we played, we wanted to keep

:18:20. > :18:27.some parts of our tactics going, instead of just defend. And we got

:18:28. > :18:33.the reward. The boys were full of running and effort to get forward.

:18:34. > :18:40.We look at dangerous, even with the man down. I can only thank the

:18:41. > :18:46.players for the shift and the effort they put in. It was a thrilling

:18:47. > :18:50.match to watch, especially in the second half. Billy Mckay I got the

:18:51. > :18:56.eventual winner, but what a time for Henri Anier to step up with a goal?

:18:57. > :18:59.Yes, obviously, he has had difficult times. He was on loan at Hibs, came

:19:00. > :19:02.back, has not played too much. This times. He was on loan at Hibs, came

:19:03. > :19:09.was his first start this season for us. And what a full debut this

:19:10. > :19:12.season for him. Fantastic full stop but to be fair to him, he works

:19:13. > :19:17.very, very hard on the training ground. He is a powerful player with

:19:18. > :19:21.good ability, so we felt that against the strong centre halves

:19:22. > :19:28.that Ross County have, he might worry them. And he did. Excellent

:19:29. > :19:31.effort from him. It is back to the small matter of staying in the

:19:32. > :19:35.Premiership on Friday against Motherwell of course. But the way

:19:36. > :19:39.things are going, it is a roller-coaster, but if you stay in

:19:40. > :19:45.the Premiership, win the Scottish Cup, suddenly you are manager of the

:19:46. > :19:50.year? Let's not get carried away! But we will enjoy this victory. It

:19:51. > :19:56.makes the journey back down easier. Next Friday, Motherwell. I believe

:19:57. > :20:02.they shattered today so they are on form again. They beat us a couple of

:20:03. > :20:04.weeks ago. Who knows? With the spirit we saw today, anything can

:20:05. > :20:14.happen. Huge congratulations. spirit we saw today, anything can

:20:15. > :20:19.Paatelainen, a very happy man tonight. Pat, that red card looked

:20:20. > :20:25.like it might be a turning point in this match for Dundee United, we

:20:26. > :20:30.thought? We certainly did. But Mixu has made some good decisions

:20:31. > :20:34.recently. This was a blue was the best one he has made for quite some

:20:35. > :20:40.time! We will look at the penalty first and just pause it here.

:20:41. > :20:43.Durnan, he is 100% favourite to win that ball. But he kind of stops, and

:20:44. > :20:48.I don't know why. I don't think that ball. But he kind of stops, and

:20:49. > :20:52.anybody will understand, apart from Durnan, why he does it. Really he

:20:53. > :20:57.has been involved in a challenge here before with Graham. It is not

:20:58. > :21:01.as if he does not know he is on his shoulder. The 'keeper is far too far

:21:02. > :21:05.back. He has got to know that Graham is there, and he has got to make

:21:06. > :21:11.sure that he gets his body in front. But he doesn't. There is no big

:21:12. > :21:15.argument. He takes his time, things about it, but there is no argument

:21:16. > :21:24.really. The only person who does not think it is a penalty is Durnan. It

:21:25. > :21:28.is only a slight pull, but it is a pull. You're just getting back into

:21:29. > :21:35.the game, and suddenly, you have a nightmare - what do you do? And he

:21:36. > :21:50.goes ultra positive? Normally you would go 4-4- one. Or 4-3- two. But

:21:51. > :21:55.he was extremely positive. I think the team were probably playing 343

:21:56. > :21:58.before that. By all accounts, yet they have played three at the back

:21:59. > :22:03.for a while, so this will have fitted their shape. When you win the

:22:04. > :22:08.ball and get yourself in good positions, you have got more players

:22:09. > :22:14.up the park. If we pause it here, you have got your midfield free

:22:15. > :22:22.here. So you have got three going forward. As we go forward, you find

:22:23. > :22:26.you have actually got another three at the back. So you are actually

:22:27. > :22:30.outnumbering the opposition even though you are down to ten men.

:22:31. > :22:37.You're putting them under great pressure. It is fine, you are too-

:22:38. > :22:43.one down, you can throw caution to the wind. Maybe it is not that

:22:44. > :22:49.brave. Because you have to get into the game and it is a cup tie. Of

:22:50. > :22:53.course it is a bit risky as well. 2-2 away from home, with ten men,

:22:54. > :22:59.you're thinking you might just take that? This is the most impressive

:23:00. > :23:06.thing, he carries on! He thinks, I am going to try and win this game.

:23:07. > :23:12.The drag back is fantastic. But the amount of players who wants to get

:23:13. > :23:21.forward here... If we just have a look, there is a whole bunch of

:23:22. > :23:24.players forward again. Three here, and there you have got your other

:23:25. > :23:29.three. The one which is most impressive is him. Even though it is

:23:30. > :23:34.the last minute, away from home, down to ten men, he wants to get in

:23:35. > :23:39.there and try and win the game. It is an attitude which Mixu has built

:23:40. > :23:43.recently. Of course it is. Also, Ross County have got to do better

:23:44. > :23:49.defensively. You can see how disappointed Quinn was. He is going

:23:50. > :23:56.absolutely nuts. Ross County have got so many back, they have got to

:23:57. > :24:01.defend that better. It is a fantastic win, but you can do it

:24:02. > :24:05.once or twice. But doing it at the right time and having the convention

:24:06. > :24:10.to stick with it, that is what impressed me most. -- the

:24:11. > :24:13.conviction. Next weekend is absolutely massive for Ross County

:24:14. > :24:18.as well. They are in the League Cup Final against Hibernian and you can

:24:19. > :24:26.watch all the action on Sportscene live from Hampden on Sunday. Back to

:24:27. > :24:29.the Scottish Cup. The first of the quarter finals this weekend was at

:24:30. > :24:45.Ibrox. It was Rangers up against Dundee. Wood comes from Paul

:24:46. > :24:47.Mitchell. -- commentary comes. It may now make the Scottish Cup

:24:48. > :24:53.less of a distraction for the Ibrox club. It is back-to-back away ties

:24:54. > :25:01.for Dundee. They travelled to Dumbarton in the last 16 Lawro they

:25:02. > :25:09.needed a replay to earn this away day in Glasgow. Billy King and

:25:10. > :25:19.Michael O'Halloran are cup-tied. Rikki Clarke finds a place on the

:25:20. > :25:25.bench. Dundee took a point from the trip to Celtic in midweek. Paul

:25:26. > :25:34.Hartley sends out a more familiar starting XI, with the return of five

:25:35. > :25:38.players. Those include captain Gary Harkins. The first ever managerial

:25:39. > :25:45.meeting of Paul Hartley and Mark Warburton. Our referee is Alan Bure.

:25:46. > :25:57.He last took charge of Dundee in the last defeat, against Aberdeen. --

:25:58. > :26:03.Alan Muir. Rangers immediately in possession. And quickly moving

:26:04. > :26:08.forward... Forrester! 14 seconds gone and Harry Forrester blasts

:26:09. > :26:19.Rangers ahead! What just owning start! -- what a stunning start!

:26:20. > :26:28.Rangers showed their intent from the off. Simple pass by Ball. Miller

:26:29. > :26:37.came short. Dawdling on the ball was Kevin Holt. And Harry Forrester

:26:38. > :26:46.fired it past Scott Bain. Such a narrow angle. He scores for Rangers

:26:47. > :27:02.in his third consecutive match. What a start. McGinn doing enough against

:27:03. > :27:12.Mckay. That is a brilliant ball inside. Rangers looking for a

:27:13. > :27:24.second. Scott Bain making the stop. Forrester turned supplier that time.

:27:25. > :27:35.Forrester will get it back. It could be in! It has gone wide! McGinn was

:27:36. > :27:46.shouting. Communication breakdown. Just coming back off Paul McGinn.

:27:47. > :27:56.In two Erskine. That is a lovely first touch. Harkins with the shot!

:27:57. > :28:06.Well, Dundee can create very quickly. It is the trio of Hemmings,

:28:07. > :28:16.Stewart and Harkins. It just came off the heel.

:28:17. > :28:26.Barrie McKay pounces on the loose ball. Kenny Miller is wide. Kenny

:28:27. > :28:31.Miller! Sliding in was Darren O'Dea. Darren O'Dea, showing his

:28:32. > :28:39.experience. He look outside him and saw where the danger was.

:28:40. > :28:51.Forrester handmade the run down the right, but it comes back inside to

:28:52. > :29:10.iron. A little dummy by Holt. Jason Holder, taken out. Holt got the

:29:11. > :29:16.touch. Tavernier. And a one-handed save. The goalkeeper in good

:29:17. > :29:45.position. Greg Stewart, with McGinn outside

:29:46. > :30:11.him. Foderingham did well. Holt kept it in.

:30:12. > :30:17.The run from Tavernier! And the sliding challenge came in from

:30:18. > :30:35.McGowan. Back to McGowan. Hemmings will break

:30:36. > :31:00.for it. Corner. Into stoppage time in the first

:31:01. > :31:09.half. Greg Stewart with the corner. That is lofty. Kane Hemmings could

:31:10. > :31:13.not get a touch on that, and it went straight to the arms of the

:31:14. > :31:16.goalkeeper. If he had got the glancing header, it would have been

:31:17. > :31:21.goalkeeper. If he had got the worked on the line for the

:31:22. > :31:30.goalkeeper. Kenny Miller, he cannot get away from McGinn. The referee

:31:31. > :31:43.glances at his watch. Into the sunshine. Stewart, with Tavernier.

:31:44. > :31:50.It is still Gary Harkins. The ball out wide to Nick Ross. Three in the

:31:51. > :31:56.box for Dundee. Block by Tavernier, and that will be half-time. Rangers'

:31:57. > :32:02.100th goal of the season came from Harry Forrester. Silly in three

:32:03. > :32:14.games for the Englishman. An electric start from Rangers. At

:32:15. > :32:19.half-time, it is 1-0. Dundee get the second half of this Scottish Cup

:32:20. > :32:29.quarterfinal under way. They found themselves behind after just 14

:32:30. > :32:34.seconds, but they conceded no further goals. The message from Paul

:32:35. > :32:42.Hartley will be to forget about the first half and go out there and play

:32:43. > :32:48.as you can. Being at Ibrox seems like a disadvantage to Dundee, but

:32:49. > :32:52.they have won on three of the last six Scottish Cup trips to Ibrox.

:32:53. > :33:04.There have only won once in 11 at Dens Park. It is picked up by every

:33:05. > :33:18.life. Inside, with Kane Hemmings. No changes at half-time.

:33:19. > :33:31.Forrester, the goal-scorer, trying to link with Kenny Miller. Chased by

:33:32. > :33:37.Kevin Holt. McKay pops up on the right side, and usually. That is a

:33:38. > :33:45.great ball, the lay-off Kenny Miller. Jason Holt completes the

:33:46. > :33:49.second goal for Rangers. The stun them in the first half. It has taken

:33:50. > :33:55.longer in the second, but Rangers with a crucial second goal. Harry

:33:56. > :34:00.Forrester from Tavernier. It is a wonderful cross ball. Barrie McKay

:34:01. > :34:07.saw the run of Kenny Miller and chested down. It is a good header

:34:08. > :34:13.from Jason Holt. He scores in the Scottish Cup for Rangers for the

:34:14. > :34:20.first time. Dundee in real trouble. Wonderful play. Rangers are 2-0

:34:21. > :34:21.ahead. The right place at the right time for the former Hearts man.

:34:22. > :34:50.Scott Bain was left with no chance. Dundee need something soon. Greg

:34:51. > :34:56.Stewart with the cutback. Tavernier lays it into the path of Robert

:34:57. > :35:03.Kiernan. Left or right, it does not matter for Barrie McKay today, great

:35:04. > :35:07.wing play. He cuts inside. He is away from O'Dea. Kenny Miller takes

:35:08. > :35:13.over. Kenny Miller is knocked to the ground out of sheer frustration.

:35:14. > :35:23.That is a sore one. The apology comes from Nick Ross. The referee

:35:24. > :35:30.almost getting in the way. It is going to be Halliday. It is going to

:35:31. > :35:36.be a third goal. His first goal in the Scottish Cup for seven years for

:35:37. > :35:42.Andrew Halliday. It is good night, Dundee. Rangers are three ahead, 54

:35:43. > :35:46.minutes played, and the side at the top of the Championship are running

:35:47. > :35:49.roughshod over the side that are fifth in the Premiership. Bain got a

:35:50. > :35:55.roughshod over the side that are hand to it, but could not keep it

:35:56. > :35:57.out. The wall did not do its job, and Rangers can almost taste the

:35:58. > :36:18.semifinal. Kenny Miller, brilliant, to Lee

:36:19. > :36:23.Wallace. Scott Bain to the rescue. The last time Scott Bain played

:36:24. > :36:35.against Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie, he conceded seven as the Alloa

:36:36. > :36:39.Athletic goalkeeper. That is a good angle ball to Paul McGowan, but they

:36:40. > :36:45.cannot finish. Rangers have just enough. This is Kerr. Kerr clipped

:36:46. > :36:52.the ball inside. He will get the free kick. He said it was his

:36:53. > :36:56.shoulder. It is where you put your shoulder sometimes that is the

:36:57. > :37:05.problem. It just got tangled that the feed of Paul McGowan. 15 minutes

:37:06. > :37:15.to play. Can Dundee look for any sort of Lifeline? Gary Harkins. That

:37:16. > :37:32.sums up the day for Dundee. That did not work from Paul McGowan.

:37:33. > :37:37.Kenny Miller on the inside. He has gone himself, Lee Wallace. A

:37:38. > :37:44.wonderful goal from the Rangers skipper. Rangers four, Dundee zero.

:37:45. > :37:51.A Scottish Cup semifinal place for Rangers. Lee Wallace, the captain,

:37:52. > :37:55.with a wonderful solo goal. He scored against Cowdenbeath and that

:37:56. > :38:01.was a good one, but this is much better. Away from Paul McGowan and

:38:02. > :38:07.inside O'Dea. Scott Bain with no chance with the finish. Some great

:38:08. > :38:13.team goals and individual goals. Individual style from Lee Wallace. A

:38:14. > :38:20.player so full of confidence and the nonchalant finish.

:38:21. > :38:52.It is all over at Ibrox. Success for Mark Warburton. Harry Forrester put

:38:53. > :38:56.Rangers ahead after 14 seconds. They did not add to the goal tally in the

:38:57. > :39:02.first half. They blew Dundee away with two quick second-half goals.

:39:03. > :39:07.Lee Wallace's goal-scoring cameo completed the scoring. Foreign Burke

:39:08. > :39:11.-- for Dundee, it is the fourth quarterfinal loss in the last ten

:39:12. > :39:15.years. Rangers are in the semifinals of the Scottish Cup. Lee Wallace

:39:16. > :39:28.will lead his side into the last four. On the day, they certainly

:39:29. > :39:32.deserve to be there. 4-0 at Ibrox. Jude to an ongoing situation between

:39:33. > :39:36.BBC Scotland and Rangers, we do not have any interviews from Ibrox

:39:37. > :39:41.today. We were all expecting a tight game between Dundee and Rangers but

:39:42. > :39:46.it did not transpire. It was a great performance from Rangers. You are

:39:47. > :39:49.right, there was lots of discussion about how Rangers would feel against

:39:50. > :39:55.Premiership opposition. They blew them away, right from the start,

:39:56. > :39:58.getting the goals are warily. It's solidified their dominance

:39:59. > :40:04.throughout the game, the scored at vital times, and by the end, they

:40:05. > :40:09.were very much worthy winners. 14 seconds, that is how long it took

:40:10. > :40:14.for the first goal. So disappointing for Paul Hartley, but what a start

:40:15. > :40:19.for Harry Forrester. It is a dream start in a cup game, getting the

:40:20. > :40:24.crowd behind you. It is about putting the other team on the back

:40:25. > :40:28.foot. This tackle, the manager is saying, press them high early in the

:40:29. > :40:35.game. That is more than you would expect. The first time tackle. It

:40:36. > :40:40.led to a better game of football. It became incredibly open. There was no

:40:41. > :40:45.point in Dundee sitting back. It became an open game. Five minutes

:40:46. > :40:49.later, Rangers could have been three up. Plenty happening from the start.

:40:50. > :40:55.Not the fastest goal in Scottish Cup history. This is the televisual

:40:56. > :41:02.evidence we have of the fastest goal that we can see. It was John Hewitt,

:41:03. > :41:09.back in 1982, Aberdeen against Motherwell, 9.6 seconds. Not the

:41:10. > :41:12.best defending. Any time you get a start like that, it can change the

:41:13. > :41:16.mindset of every player and the start like that, it can change the

:41:17. > :41:21.manager and the tactics. What a generally leads to is a good game.

:41:22. > :41:27.Let's look at the Harry Forrester more detail. A great start for

:41:28. > :41:33.Rangers, but Dundee will be disappointed. Of course. The manager

:41:34. > :41:40.will be tearing his hair out. Pat is right. Harry Forrester is pressing

:41:41. > :41:45.and that the intent Rangers had. The graphic shows the defenders. They

:41:46. > :41:50.need to offer more cover for each other. It happened so quickly, they

:41:51. > :41:54.did not get a chance. Darren O'Dea does well. The goalkeeper has to

:41:55. > :42:02.make sure that the front post is covered. Every time Darren O'Dea is

:42:03. > :42:08.showing the attacker to the side, the goalkeeper has got to cover the

:42:09. > :42:12.post. Maybe he could have been cover better. Perhaps he should have

:42:13. > :42:17.engaged higher up. It is ten seconds into the game. You are not into the

:42:18. > :42:22.rhythm, so mistakes like that or understandable. Unfortunately for

:42:23. > :42:23.Dundee, there were other mistakes during the game. Rangers were

:42:24. > :42:28.superb. Michael made an important during the game. Rangers were

:42:29. > :42:36.point, scoring goals at the right moment. It looks like a hammering,

:42:37. > :42:41.4-0, but in reality, 425 minutes Rangers were brilliant, but Dundee

:42:42. > :42:46.were the side for put. The second half was the same as the first half.

:42:47. > :42:52.They started well. This must be frustrating for Paul Hartley. It is

:42:53. > :42:56.a fantastic move from Rangers. There are 12 passes to get to the final

:42:57. > :43:01.move. If you get yourself in space in the box, he is shouting for it.

:43:02. > :43:07.If you have got space, you have to make a good first touch. How good is

:43:08. > :43:12.that touch? That is a tremendous goal. All the way from their own six

:43:13. > :43:20.yard line. It is one of the best team goals I have seen this season.

:43:21. > :43:24.You take nothing away from that. Then you can relax and enjoy. Your

:43:25. > :43:30.role-playing and wanting to score. They took over. The Andy Halliday

:43:31. > :43:38.goal, in the 54th minute, it was at a great time for Rangers. Yes, round

:43:39. > :43:43.about the one-hour mark. Bain will be disappointed. You can see the

:43:44. > :43:49.runner over, and it makes my -- Bain take a step to his left. The

:43:50. > :43:53.goalkeeper has got to cover the goal. If the Verney puts it over the

:43:54. > :43:57.wall, the goalkeeper can do nothing about it. If the goalkeeper had

:43:58. > :44:08.stayed in his position, he would have stopped that. -- if Tavernier.

:44:09. > :44:14.Lee Wallace with a great goal. Yes, we have spoken about this before,

:44:15. > :44:18.the overlap. He is like a train. That is unstoppable. The cause he is

:44:19. > :44:22.going so quickly, there is nothing they can do. He has power, he is

:44:23. > :44:27.very direct. This is interesting. He they can do. He has power, he is

:44:28. > :44:32.gets his head down and goes towards the defenders. They cannot engage in

:44:33. > :44:38.before the box they cannot tackle him. If they miss him and tackle, it

:44:39. > :44:44.is a penalty kick and they will be sent off. We spoke about him last

:44:45. > :44:50.time. Is there a possibility he will get dragged into the Scotland squad

:44:51. > :44:54.again? He is doing it all the time. Remember the criticism that Rangers

:44:55. > :44:59.got after the St Johnstone game at Ibrox, seeing how far behind they

:45:00. > :45:02.were. This is a good Dundee team who have not giving away goals and they

:45:03. > :45:09.have been playing well. The scored four. Congratulations to Rangers and

:45:10. > :45:13.Gray quarterfinals tomorrow as well. Gray quarterfinals tomorrow as well.

:45:14. > :45:47.-- two. What a goal from Roberts! And there

:45:48. > :45:56.is live coverage of Hibs versus Inverness tomorrow afternoon on

:45:57. > :46:01.Sportscene. And then join us at 10.34 highlights of the day's

:46:02. > :46:06.action, including Celtic's match with Morton, plus all the

:46:07. > :46:10.Premiership action am talking of which, we all know Celtic are

:46:11. > :46:15.toiling, there is pressure on Ronny Deila - how much of a banana skin is

:46:16. > :46:20.that? When your confidence is low, it is a huge banana skin. They will

:46:21. > :46:23.have to make sure they get a good result. If the unthinkable was to

:46:24. > :46:26.happen and they were to lose at Celtic Park, then I think the

:46:27. > :46:31.pressure could almost be too much to take full Ronny Deila and his

:46:32. > :46:36.position would be almost untenable. Looking at the other match, Hibs -

:46:37. > :46:41.Inverness, how do you see it going? Just on Celtic, the fact that they

:46:42. > :46:47.are four points clear in the league, it could only happen in Scotland!

:46:48. > :46:51.Yes, Hibs- Inverness, everybody has been saying it is the hardest one to

:46:52. > :46:55.call. Both teams have been having a little bit of a dip in form. I think

:46:56. > :47:03.it is a bit more than that for Hibs. I have kind of crashed. They have

:47:04. > :47:12.had a huge long period, and then three defeats in eight days. They

:47:13. > :47:15.have to get it in their mind that they can get back from that. Today,

:47:16. > :47:21.in the Premiership, there were two big matches. Hamilton Academical

:47:22. > :47:27.lost to Motherwell. Hearts beat Partick Thistle at Tynecastle. It

:47:28. > :47:34.leaves the Premiership table looking like this... In the Championship it

:47:35. > :47:43.was also a busy day. Falkirk beat Alloa Athletic 2-0. Living stone

:47:44. > :47:47.beat Dumbarton... It means that Falkirk have taken advantage of

:47:48. > :47:55.Rangers and Hibs playing in the cup and they are now in second place.

:47:56. > :47:58.Pat, I have to ask you, in terms of Hibs, it is a strange set of

:47:59. > :48:03.priorities at the moment, with the League Cup Final next weekend and

:48:04. > :48:07.this battle in the Championship. If you ask Alan Stubbs, he will say,

:48:08. > :48:11.every game as it comes. Yes, they would love to win the Scottish Cup

:48:12. > :48:15.but they are in a final, and that would probably be the priority. But

:48:16. > :48:22.in the end, every Hibs fan will say, it is the league. Thank you very

:48:23. > :48:26.much. Today's first half of quarterfinal weekend was not bad.

:48:27. > :48:28.We're hoping for even better tomorrow. Until tomorrow, good

:48:29. > :49:06.night. say, it can work two ways.

:49:07. > :49:10.Thankfully we got on top. You are confident you will get a chance to

:49:11. > :49:14.make sure Newcastle are in the Premier League? I hope so. I believe

:49:15. > :49:16.in what we are doing and our staff. I
