:00:17. > :00:23.Yes, good afternoon and welcome to the Results Show. The one we have

:00:24. > :00:29.been saving for a rainy day. Lots of games are off but the show goes on.

:00:30. > :00:35.If there were anymore postponements, we were going to call this show

:00:36. > :00:41.Sportscene Result! The team are in the comfort of the studio, Michael

:00:42. > :00:48.Stuart and Mark Wilson. Welcome, gentleman. And meanwhile, the

:00:49. > :00:54.reporters from Dingwall to Dundee will keep us up-to-date on the games

:00:55. > :00:58.that survived Storm Desmond, not including the Premiership matches,

:00:59. > :01:02.they have been postponed. As have a number of other games in the SPL

:01:03. > :01:08.division. So let's have a look at what is on and off. Here we go with

:01:09. > :01:14.the Scottish Premiership. Three matches beating the weather.

:01:15. > :01:24.The lunch time match at Dundee, finishing with a win for Aberdeen.

:01:25. > :01:34.One match beating the weather in the Scottish championship.

:01:35. > :01:44.One up for dumb bart on against Alloa.

:01:45. > :01:51.And a survivor there, for Dunfermline v Brechin City. 3-1 to

:01:52. > :02:01.Dunfermline. A few more matches in thewomen Hill

:02:02. > :02:08.scup uh Scottish Cup. Arbroath against Cowdenbeath has been

:02:09. > :02:14.abandoned. There is goes. Cover Rangers 3, 1 to Formartine

:02:15. > :02:20.unite united. Now, time to catch up with the rain

:02:21. > :02:28.men around the country. The first of which is Martin Dowden. He is in

:02:29. > :02:33.Dingwall watching Ross County against St Johnstone.

:02:34. > :02:38.St Johnstone looking like they could see this one out. David Wotherspoon

:02:39. > :02:42.a double. He charged down. An attempted

:02:43. > :02:50.clearance, the ball in the back of the net. David Wotherspoon curled it

:02:51. > :02:56.into the net. Boyce with a close range going down. Then a header. It

:02:57. > :03:04.bemused the reporters. No idea who put it in. But it is two each here

:03:05. > :03:11.in Dingwall and very much game on. And to Rugby Park. John Barnes is

:03:12. > :03:16.desperate to tell us what is going on there.

:03:17. > :03:21.These sides serving up a cracking match. Chris Boyd body opening up

:03:22. > :03:29.for the scoring in the fourth minute. But Dundee United equalised

:03:30. > :03:33.with a goal scoring opportunity, for McKay.

:03:34. > :03:39.Now to the championship. That match at the bottom of the table. Alloa

:03:40. > :03:48.against Dumbarton. Brian is at the stadium. What is happening? Good

:03:49. > :03:55.afternoon. It is Alloa, nil, and Dumbarton, one. Mark Docherty with a

:03:56. > :03:59.corner kick. Evading everyone before ending up in the back of the net. It

:04:00. > :04:03.is a basement battle in the championship.

:04:04. > :04:09.Well, not much to talk about. Maybe we will get your egg nothing recipes

:04:10. > :04:18.later. Christmas is coming up! Let's start with Dundee United. Kris body

:04:19. > :04:23.is back in the team. Doing OK? I am surprised he has not had more starts

:04:24. > :04:28.in the team. A disappointing start last season.

:04:29. > :04:32.Not so many games at Rangers. I thought that Kilmarnock would be a

:04:33. > :04:37.natural place for him. His home team. He has done well there. I

:04:38. > :04:41.would have thought he would have done better and had more game time.

:04:42. > :04:45.But good to see him back and scoring.

:04:46. > :04:49.And Kelly? Obviously it has been a tough spell for them.

:04:50. > :04:55.The fan there is have had to go through a bad bit.

:04:56. > :04:59.The game today, by all accounts, the weather is not great. But with the

:05:00. > :05:04.rain on the surface it could have made it a little better and the game

:05:05. > :05:08.more pleasing on the eye. Mark, Dundee United, on paper it

:05:09. > :05:15.looks like so far, so good for them. If they get anything out of that?

:05:16. > :05:22.I'm not sure. Kelly were done to ten men earlier on in the game. After

:05:23. > :05:26.the penalty, you would think that they could go on and control the

:05:27. > :05:31.game. I'm sure that they will be disappointed not to take advantage.

:05:32. > :05:36.You are a man that likes to make a precise prediction. How do you see

:05:37. > :05:42.that one? Last night on the radio, I said 1-1. Here is hoping it stays

:05:43. > :05:49.that way. Ross County and St Johnstone. A

:05:50. > :05:55.classic. St Johnstone's away record is something to behold? A fantastic

:05:56. > :05:59.record. When we find out who scored the second goal for Ross County,

:06:00. > :06:06.that will help as well. Looking at the game in the week, it was tough.

:06:07. > :06:11.Not muff between them. The fact that St Johnstone have a good away

:06:12. > :06:18.record. I thought it would tip it in their favour. But no surprise. If

:06:19. > :06:21.you are desperate to find out, it was Andrew Davis. The suspense was

:06:22. > :06:28.killing us. An important player? Yes,

:06:29. > :06:33.definitely, Doherty has got the players from south and got them up

:06:34. > :06:40.with a really good signing, pushing them up the league. We did not

:06:41. > :06:50.expect to see them. But they have kind of taken over Inverness.

:06:51. > :06:57.I bumped into Roy McGregor in Edinburgh. He was full of praise for

:06:58. > :07:00.Andrew Davis. Saying he has been an influential signing for them. Even

:07:01. > :07:08.without the goal, he has a lot of praise for the chairman.

:07:09. > :07:13.Well saved. Out of a hole there! Now, Dundee could be in the top six

:07:14. > :07:19.if they could beat Aberdeen. The Dons at the top of the Premiership

:07:20. > :07:25.to four points and could increase the advantage to first place. Now

:07:26. > :07:34.here is the story of the match from Liam McLeod.

:07:35. > :07:41.A victory for Dennis's Aberdeen. Paul Hartley's Dundee cannot buy a

:07:42. > :07:46.win. A vibrant first half ensured back-to-back wins for the first time

:07:47. > :07:51.since September, Niall McGinn opening up the scoring and the Dons

:07:52. > :07:57.did not look back. Adam Rooney fired one in.

:07:58. > :08:03.There should have been a penalty for a trip on low just outside of the

:08:04. > :08:09.box. Stuart and Hemmings forced saves from the Dons keeper, Ward.

:08:10. > :08:16.But, there were good chances missed up the other end. Seven without a

:08:17. > :08:22.win for Dundee, the Dons move into four clear of third-placed Hearts

:08:23. > :08:27.ahead of the team's Pittodrie clash next Saturday lunch time. Mark,

:08:28. > :08:36.back-to-back wins for Aberdeen. The wheels back on the Dons team? Yes.

:08:37. > :08:41.The players they have done so well with the eight victories in a row,

:08:42. > :08:44.when they got a defeat it seemed to affect them so much. The pressure

:08:45. > :08:48.built and you could not see where they were going to win. A poor start

:08:49. > :08:53.against Ross County in the first half. The second they were better.

:08:54. > :08:58.Kicked on again today. It could have been a tricky tie for Dundee.

:08:59. > :09:06.And looking at the strength on the bench.

:09:07. > :09:10.It was strong! . That is the thing about Aberdeen. They have strength

:09:11. > :09:14.and depth. That surprised me so much when they were talking about the

:09:15. > :09:18.spell that they went through it seemed that they could not get a

:09:19. > :09:22.win. There are good players and a lot of experience on the side. I was

:09:23. > :09:26.surprised it took them so long to get themselves out of the bad run.

:09:27. > :09:32.But looking at it in the grand scheme of things, they are second in

:09:33. > :09:37.the league. Four points off the top. They have Rooney scoring goals

:09:38. > :09:41.again. That is 35, 36 goals, that is a return for a striker.

:09:42. > :09:46.Let's have a look around the grounds.

:09:47. > :09:52.We are going to Alloa. Home to Dumbarton and the championship. It

:09:53. > :10:02.is back over to Brian. Dumbarton. Winning 2-0. Grant

:10:03. > :10:08.Gallagher knocking the ball home. Following the opening by Mark

:10:09. > :10:14.Docherty for Dumbarton and the corner deceived everyone ending up

:10:15. > :10:24.in the back of the net. Two minutes left here at the stadium, formerly

:10:25. > :10:28.known as Wreck creation Park. Remember, the games in the

:10:29. > :10:33.Premiership are Firhill, Celtic Park, Tynecastle, they are all off.

:10:34. > :10:40.But there are action at Victoria Park, and Dingwall.

:10:41. > :10:47.This is a bizarre game. St Johnstone in control. County are struggling to

:10:48. > :10:53.get emphasis but then they are right back in it. Boyce bringing it in,

:10:54. > :10:59.and then Davies up there with a corner. Challenging with Murray

:11:00. > :11:06.Davidson. Many seemed to think that Davidson got the last touch. A firm

:11:07. > :11:11.header into his net. That made us think that it was day of Davies that

:11:12. > :11:16.did it. But County are back in the game. Firing forward.

:11:17. > :11:20.A chance for St Johnstone, they have cleared the ball away. But Tommy

:11:21. > :11:29.Wright will be fuming on the touch line. Even though on course to

:11:30. > :11:36.remain unbeaten in seven matches. Now, let's hear from John Barnes. He

:11:37. > :11:50.is at Rugby Park. Eight minutes left.

:11:51. > :11:59.Kilmarnock, one, Dundee United, one. United were level in the 24th minute

:12:00. > :12:05.after Kris Boyd scored. He played it to Slater. He curled

:12:06. > :12:13.the ball in. Then volleyed it into the back of the net. So, 1-1. United

:12:14. > :12:19.trying to utilise the one man advantage.

:12:20. > :12:24.They have had a couple wide. Up thor end Slater cracked a great

:12:25. > :12:30.shot off the right-hand post, much to the relief of the Dundee United

:12:31. > :12:38.goalkeeper. Then John Souter fired in a shot tipped around the post by

:12:39. > :12:42.Jamie McDonald. Blustery conditions. But lots of entertaining football on

:12:43. > :12:47.show. Thank you very much, John. Returning

:12:48. > :12:54.now to the lunch time kick-off. Dundee, nil, Aberdeen, two. It has

:12:55. > :13:01.finished as Dens Park. Let's hear from the manager, Derek McInnes. It

:13:02. > :13:06.was tough. I thought with the energy that we

:13:07. > :13:10.showed, the eagerness to get on with the game. The start of the game was

:13:11. > :13:16.vital. That was evidence in getting the two goals. I thought that we

:13:17. > :13:23.imposed ourselves on the game. We know that the day would mean a lot

:13:24. > :13:28.of time playing the conditions, and also we still had to show quality.

:13:29. > :13:34.But the two goals were excellent. We could have had one or two more but

:13:35. > :13:39.you are never quite there at 2-0. We still had work to do. I think that

:13:40. > :13:44.the players managed it, with the wind and the rain battering into

:13:45. > :13:46.them. The pitch getting heavier. And I think that they managed the second

:13:47. > :13:52.half very well. Well done. He did not flinch with

:13:53. > :13:56.those boards. Aberdeen, a clean sheet. They started off the season

:13:57. > :14:01.brilliantly at the back. Then conceded a lot of goal but back to a

:14:02. > :14:05.clean sheet. That will please Derek a lot.

:14:06. > :14:11.Especially after last week conceding again. They looked invincible when

:14:12. > :14:15.they were not conceding it shows the importance of defending. They looked

:14:16. > :14:20.through a run where it looked easy to score. Now they have fixed their

:14:21. > :14:23.problem. They are going in the right direction.

:14:24. > :14:28.A terrible autumn. Starting off the winter well. Next week it is against

:14:29. > :14:33.Hearts, their former employers. It is a big game. Obviously Aberdeen

:14:34. > :14:38.will be delighted that the Hearts game was called off. It means that

:14:39. > :14:43.they have the 4-point gap. Where they to lose the game, they would be

:14:44. > :14:51.a point ahead. But it gives them confidence. Especially at Pittodrie,

:14:52. > :14:55.with seven points clear. Also, we have spoken about this

:14:56. > :15:01.already but with them now picking up more form, if you are seven points

:15:02. > :15:04.clear your nearest rival it adds to the momentum that they are moving in

:15:05. > :15:09.the right direction. A confidence boost for the Dons. Not

:15:10. > :15:15.so for done deed. They lost the match 2-0. Let's hear what their

:15:16. > :15:20.manager had to say afterwards. I don't think that we started well

:15:21. > :15:25.enough. I felt we did not perform. We were off the mark in terms of

:15:26. > :15:32.defence and the team offence I will as a team. We did not pass or defend

:15:33. > :15:39.well. We didn't stop the crossing coming in, and gave away set plays.

:15:40. > :15:44.The next win is important. Not to look too far ahead. The players are

:15:45. > :15:49.disappointed. We have to regroup and get them on to a better result next

:15:50. > :16:01.week. Now to Victoria Park.

:16:02. > :16:08.No doubt about this one, a free kick from 25 yards, Dave McKay calls it

:16:09. > :16:16.over the wall and into the corner, this team are just unstoppable right

:16:17. > :16:20.now. Sounds like a cracking match. Brian McLaughlin has been watching

:16:21. > :16:25.Alloa Athletic against Dumbarton in the championship, it is all over?

:16:26. > :16:32.Not good news if you are an Alloa Athletic fan, 2-0, the game played

:16:33. > :16:37.in horrendous conditions. A driving wind throughout the 90 minutes,

:16:38. > :16:42.Alloa Athletic had the perceived benefit of that in the first half

:16:43. > :16:47.but there was only one real shot on target. They shot by Duffy on 38

:16:48. > :16:52.minutes, low to the goalkeeper 's left-hand side but he did well to

:16:53. > :16:58.save it. Dumbarton have the wind and rain in the second half and they

:16:59. > :17:02.capitalised, it was a freak goal, a needless corner given away by the

:17:03. > :17:08.Alloa Athletic defence and Doherty swung in the corner and it of a did

:17:09. > :17:12.everyone and went into the back of the net. Alloa Athletic tried hard

:17:13. > :17:18.for the equaliser, Mark Brown in the Dumbarton golf dropped a cross but

:17:19. > :17:22.although the ensuing effort was on target, it was scrambled away. With

:17:23. > :17:26.a few minutes to go, Dumbarton scored a killer second goal, Gattaca

:17:27. > :17:34.was there to not get it home for the second goal. -- Gallaher. They do

:17:35. > :17:44.have a chance for revenge on Jews day night in the Scottish Cup. --

:17:45. > :17:53.Tuesday night. Just ignore that attendance at the top, it said

:17:54. > :18:01.3229, another of your former teams, an important result for them.

:18:02. > :18:05.Lifting them to seventh. A big incentive to widen the gap between

:18:06. > :18:10.them and St Mirren in the not so good for Alloa Athletic but coming

:18:11. > :18:16.off the back of the Rangers game in midweek, the pitch was very heavy

:18:17. > :18:24.and they put in a tough shift but a great result away from home. We can

:18:25. > :18:29.look and see how Dumbarton fared, you mentioned that game in midweek

:18:30. > :18:34.against Rangers, a hammering, 4-0. It seemed that way but for much of

:18:35. > :18:39.the first half, Dumbarton did OK, they defended their 18-yard box

:18:40. > :18:44.well, there were a few opportunities, a good shout for a

:18:45. > :18:51.penalty but Rangers came out in the second half rejuvenated and they

:18:52. > :19:02.scored and you can just see the belief to rain from Dumbarton.

:19:03. > :19:07.Rangers went on to a rout but it was not as one-sided as the score

:19:08. > :19:11.suggests. When you set up tactics like Dumbarton did, when you lose

:19:12. > :19:20.the first goal, it alters the game with time because you have the

:19:21. > :19:23.change of tactics a little bit. When Rangers start to get themselves in

:19:24. > :19:28.front like that it is a perfect combination to score more goals.

:19:29. > :19:35.Even though I think it was flattering. Lhasa today, they were

:19:36. > :19:43.keeping it tight and then they lost 4-0. That is what Rangers have two

:19:44. > :19:48.expect, teams sitting at them and making it difficult. It has worked

:19:49. > :19:56.for two weeks in a row that they have tired teams out and ended up

:19:57. > :20:00.scoring four. Is there a plan B to counter that? We talked about this

:20:01. > :20:05.the other night, they were trying to score the perfect score and try to

:20:06. > :20:09.play through Dumbarton but plan B is to get it wide and get more crosses

:20:10. > :20:14.into the box. It seemed Mark Warburton had the second -- same

:20:15. > :20:22.idea because that is what they did in the second half. It amazes me how

:20:23. > :20:27.many times you watch modern-day football and everyone tries to

:20:28. > :20:30.channel it through the middle, it is unbelievable how you see so few

:20:31. > :20:35.teams getting the ball wide and penetrating from the wide areas

:20:36. > :20:39.especially when it is not happening through the middle, you have to get

:20:40. > :20:44.wide and get behind teams because it is the only way to break them down.

:20:45. > :20:53.We will head back to Dingwall, full-time between Ross County and St

:20:54. > :20:57.Johnstone. Captain Dave McKay striking a magnificent free kick to

:20:58. > :21:02.St Johnstone's seventh straightaway victory. They are now within a point

:21:03. > :21:08.of Hearts in third place. There was a calamitous opener but then curling

:21:09. > :21:11.in a beautiful second before half-time to put the visitors in

:21:12. > :21:18.control. Ross County looked bereft of ideas but out of nowhere, Liam

:21:19. > :21:22.Boyce slammed home from close range, then, a challenge to get on the end

:21:23. > :21:29.of the corner with Davidson seemingly heading into his own net.

:21:30. > :21:37.O'Halloran and a free kick and McKay stepped up and hit an absolute

:21:38. > :21:45.beauty over the wall, the top three very much in sight. A question for

:21:46. > :21:50.you, a star turned by the looks of things from David Wallace, what

:21:51. > :21:55.about Michael O'Halloran, he did not get many mentions in the report. He

:21:56. > :22:00.almost went straight through Davidson's tackle to only free kick

:22:01. > :22:04.from which McKay scored the winner, not one of his most sparkling

:22:05. > :22:09.performances, he has had many of those, earning Player of the Month

:22:10. > :22:15.in November, he was more of a team player today and St Johnstone showed

:22:16. > :22:24.they can dig out a result and keep the run going and a fantastic result

:22:25. > :22:29.after losing a two goal lead. I am glad he did not mention Michael

:22:30. > :22:35.O'Halloran was Player of the Month for November because he is receiving

:22:36. > :22:44.the award. Raina Dandelion, that is nice play by O'Halloran. At the back

:22:45. > :22:52.post, it is in and eventually, Davidson prods it home from close

:22:53. > :22:58.range. A big chance, they must score, O'Halloran, 1-1. Michael

:22:59. > :23:11.O'Halloran scores for the third consecutive game. At pace as well,

:23:12. > :23:19.that is the equaliser. Again in the wide area, he set it up nicely. What

:23:20. > :23:24.did you say? I could not wait to speak about him, he is terrific and

:23:25. > :23:27.I have always liked the look of him. A year or two ago, he lacked

:23:28. > :23:30.I have always liked the look of him. something, maybe it was confidence

:23:31. > :23:37.but this season, he has been brilliant and scored some great

:23:38. > :23:46.goals. Some great assists as well. We have seen it all come together at

:23:47. > :23:55.Ibrox. Against Rangers in the League Cup. Exactly what St Johnstone

:23:56. > :24:05.need. Very valuable with goals and assists. We need to know how the

:24:06. > :24:11.management in Kilmarnock and Dundee United reacted. Had finished 1-1, I

:24:12. > :24:16.do not think it is a result either side would want, they were both

:24:17. > :24:20.looking for three points in blustery conditions at Rugby Park. Kilmarnock

:24:21. > :24:24.off to a good start, Kris Boyd on the scoresheet after four minutes.

:24:25. > :24:29.off to a good start, Kris Boyd on He tapped home from around three

:24:30. > :24:35.yards. They could have gone further in front, a couple of shots, one

:24:36. > :24:40.saved by the goalkeeper to his right hand side and then another effort

:24:41. > :24:44.from a header and this time of the save was down at his left to turn it

:24:45. > :24:50.away but midway through the first half, Kilmarnock were reduced to ten

:24:51. > :24:56.men, Stuart Findlay sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity

:24:57. > :25:01.as he tried to latch onto a billion McKay cross. McKay was the man who

:25:02. > :25:11.stepped up and slotted away the penalty after Findlay was red

:25:12. > :25:19.carded. The Kilmarnock goalkeeper stopped a one-on-one late in the

:25:20. > :25:30.game. Dundee United were also denied by the goalkeeper. Early in the

:25:31. > :25:37.second half, United felt they were due another penalty, they just got

:25:38. > :25:41.in behind the Kilmarnock defence and seemed to be pulled back by the

:25:42. > :25:47.Kilmarnock captain but the referee ignored the appeals for the penalty

:25:48. > :25:53.and that did not please the manager in the Dundee United technical area.

:25:54. > :25:59.There were chances at both ends, Dixon with a shot wide for United,

:26:00. > :26:02.Craig Slater blasted one off the right-hand post for Kilmarnock as he

:26:03. > :26:08.tried to find the winner then up the other end, Souter with a lovely shot

:26:09. > :26:15.tipped away by MacDonald. In the end it finished 1-1. You talk about a

:26:16. > :26:20.precious point for Dundee United, still stranded at the foot of the

:26:21. > :26:26.table, six behind Motherwell. Can they scrambled their way out of

:26:27. > :26:31.this? They can but as each week passes it looks more of a difficult

:26:32. > :26:34.task. As they said before, playing against ten men, you have to try and

:26:35. > :26:40.get your ambition is higher than taking a point, away from home you

:26:41. > :26:44.could argue but I think you have to get your sights on picking up three

:26:45. > :26:52.points and that is the only way to get closer in contact with the teams

:26:53. > :26:57.above you. McKay is the only one who has scored in two months, and some

:26:58. > :27:02.of those have been penalties. It is not something you would generally

:27:03. > :27:07.say about Dundee United, their problem before was keeping them out

:27:08. > :27:10.at the back. Now they are having a mixture of both which is why they

:27:11. > :27:17.are bottom of the table. Billy McKay is doing his best. You have played

:27:18. > :27:23.against him? I did when I was 15 or 16 and he was sensational, I think

:27:24. > :27:30.he's got a hat-trick when I was sent back and he ended up getting a move

:27:31. > :27:36.to Liverpool. They are playing their experienced players, Gavin Gunning

:27:37. > :27:42.is there. I think he is a top signing for them again, he did score

:27:43. > :27:47.an own goal last week but he will tighten things up, it is exactly

:27:48. > :27:51.what they need, they have a lot of young boys but they need some

:27:52. > :27:57.experience. Can they get off the bottom spot? I am not sure, when you

:27:58. > :28:03.are playing for 75 minutes against ten men, you really need to get

:28:04. > :28:09.three points, it is a struggle for Dundee United at the moment. We can

:28:10. > :28:10.now go to this weeks classified results round-up, somewhat truncated

:28:11. > :28:23.this week. At least the fourth official is nice

:28:24. > :28:55.and dry, we start with the Premiership.

:28:56. > :29:21.There are more in the Scottish Cup third round however.

:29:22. > :33:16.In the Berkeley 's endless Premier League.

:33:17. > :33:24.Right, then, as promised, we will dip our toes in the English Premier

:33:25. > :33:28.League. Stoke City at home today, starting

:33:29. > :33:34.at the leaders but they are not know.

:33:35. > :33:38.Stoke City beat Manchester City thanks to a sewer Paddy Ashdown

:33:39. > :33:49.first half display. Scored twice, by Marko Arnautovic. Created by the

:33:50. > :33:57.skill fill Ziciri. And then saga with his first goal.

:33:58. > :34:03.Manchester City struggled without the injured captain, Vincent

:34:04. > :34:08.Kompany. As the conditions got more

:34:09. > :34:12.difficult, a comeback from the visitors looked less likely.

:34:13. > :34:16.Stoke City look like they are going places.

:34:17. > :34:20.Leicester City going places, back to the top of the table. Here is how

:34:21. > :34:34.they did it. Winning away to Swansea. The. Jamie Vardy, the

:34:35. > :34:39.scoring run ends at 11 games. A hat-trick for Mahrez.

:34:40. > :34:49.Jamie Vardy deserves credit for setting up up the third.

:34:50. > :34:54.Swansea never really in this. They were bereft for confidence. How much

:34:55. > :34:59.time does Garry Monk have to turn this around. But tonight, the Foxes

:35:00. > :35:02.were flying. Let's find out how Manchester United

:35:03. > :35:08.fared. The biggest surprise in this one is

:35:09. > :35:14.that it stayed goaless, given the number of chances created by both.

:35:15. > :35:38.West Ham feeling aggrieved, denied the post.

:35:39. > :35:43.And twice a wide shot. When plots did increase the tempo,

:35:44. > :35:51.they had no problem creating chances but the problem lied in taking them.

:35:52. > :35:59.A disgruntled response and missing the chances of capitalising.

:36:00. > :36:03.Arsenal capitalised on their rival's slip-ups, a win for them at home to

:36:04. > :36:07.Sunderland. The final score, Arsenal, three,

:36:08. > :36:12.Sunderland, one. So many players injured.

:36:13. > :36:23.. Arsenal found their touch against a thoroughly game Sunderland side.

:36:24. > :36:32.Arsenal's half-time team must have been laced with chilli powed. They

:36:33. > :36:40.had pace, creativity, Ramsey's stoppage time goal at close range.

:36:41. > :36:48.They will have to start fast per the mid-week, though.

:36:49. > :36:52.Now from John Akers. Spurs equal the longest unbeaten run

:36:53. > :36:59.in top flight football stretching back 30 years. A proper old

:37:00. > :37:06.fashioned football match. Lots of tackles, lots of endeavour and two

:37:07. > :37:10.good goals. Alli scoring for Tottenham.

:37:11. > :37:18.Defendant as you like through the legs. West Brom were their match in

:37:19. > :37:23.the first half. Equalising through James McClean's first goal. A

:37:24. > :37:28.powerful header. Kane went close for Spurs in the

:37:29. > :37:34.second half. But it finish, probably about right. 1-1.

:37:35. > :37:37.Before we dwell on the matters per paining to the English Barclays

:37:38. > :37:43.league, we have something to tell you.

:37:44. > :37:50.The match between East Kilbride and Stenhousemuir. It went into extra

:37:51. > :37:56.time but East Kilbride are 2-1 up. Sensational.

:37:57. > :37:59.Now, would you like to move on to the English Barclays premiere?

:38:00. > :38:04.Whatever you want. Well, they have done it again.

:38:05. > :38:09.Another clean sheet, Michael, 0-0, you must be delighted.

:38:10. > :38:12.I'm trying to keep myself awake! They keep missing opportunities

:38:13. > :38:16.there. As they were talking about, the fact

:38:17. > :38:21.that the rivals are slipping up. A game at home it is clear that the

:38:22. > :38:26.fans are not happy with nil-nil. We are talking about it. Gone are

:38:27. > :38:30.the days of watching Manchester United and being excited and edge of

:38:31. > :38:36.your seat stuff. It is a bit of a bore.

:38:37. > :38:40.Well, he was up on his feet. Walking about, recommend on straiting. But

:38:41. > :38:44.you are only three points off the league?

:38:45. > :38:49.I know. But I'm astonished. I can't for the life believe they are three

:38:50. > :38:53.points off the top. I don't see them having the quality or the

:38:54. > :38:58.excitement. It is a different era for the Manchester United fans. The

:38:59. > :39:02.days he was there. That was so exciting. I would love watching

:39:03. > :39:08.them. Now, I get bored watching them. But they are effective.

:39:09. > :39:16.But you don't get bored watching Leicester city. They are 3-0 winners

:39:17. > :39:21.to Swansea. Sickening that regard regard volunteered did not score.

:39:22. > :39:25.But a remarkable story. We are waiting for the collapse. Thinking

:39:26. > :39:29.that they can't keep to going. But they keep churning out results. Last

:39:30. > :39:41.week impressive against Manchester United. Going away. With points.

:39:42. > :39:45.It is a classic thing, you think you can do it but it is so difficult to

:39:46. > :39:50.predict. In a league that is so competitive,

:39:51. > :39:53.it is difficult. But every week you are expecting Leicester to slip up

:39:54. > :39:59.but they don't. I still don't think that they will do it but the

:40:00. > :40:02.Champions League qualification is a serious consideration.

:40:03. > :40:07.And you know who has been slipping up, Arsenal. And there, Giroud

:40:08. > :40:11.scoring. They are up to the second.

:40:12. > :40:17.This could be the season for Arsenal. There has been noise how

:40:18. > :40:21.they do well and fall away. But this season things are clicking. Going

:40:22. > :40:25.forward they have a lot of attacking options in the scoring of goals. If

:40:26. > :40:31.they keep it clean at the back. They could be there.

:40:32. > :40:37.The problem for them is the fact that they could lose two important

:40:38. > :40:42.players, one of them Sanchez. That could be a big miss. And Chelsea,

:40:43. > :40:47.the biggest rival have disappeared from the start of the season.

:40:48. > :40:51.As a United man you would not grudge Arsene Wenger a title at this stage

:40:52. > :40:55.of his career. It would not bother me. I want to

:40:56. > :41:01.see Manchester United playing more attractive football. Now to the

:41:02. > :41:04.bottom half of the Premier League. Watford at home to Norwich. Let's

:41:05. > :41:08.hear how it went. Yes, something is stirring down

:41:09. > :41:13.these parts. That is a fourth win in six Premier League games. Watford

:41:14. > :41:18.enjoying this spell in a winter that will no doubt get harder for them.

:41:19. > :41:28.Enjoying as it heats. Deeney from the spot. After Tettey made a

:41:29. > :41:34.mistake. It was a grind in the wind but Watford ground out better than

:41:35. > :41:41.Norwich. They offered little. And in the end, Ighalo kept his cool in the

:41:42. > :41:45.cold and sealed it for Watford, 2-0. And let's hear how Aston Villa

:41:46. > :41:53.played against Southampton. 1-1. A six points for the season for

:41:54. > :42:01.Villa. But came away with a draw. Lescott giving Villa the unlikely

:42:02. > :42:07.lead. Then the rear guard for Remy's men continued.

:42:08. > :42:14.The sub-Romeou scoring from the corner.

:42:15. > :42:19.It finished 1-1. Three points outside much the bottom

:42:20. > :42:24.for notch City. Worrying? It is. But he has to expect that, surely. He

:42:25. > :42:27.has had a fairytale story so far. It would be difficult in the Premier

:42:28. > :42:32.League. He must expect that it would be there or theres about. It is

:42:33. > :42:35.about holding the nerve, can he escape the pressures of the

:42:36. > :42:41.relegation battle. The pressure must be huge there. The finances are

:42:42. > :42:44.dropping out of the league. It can ruin you.

:42:45. > :42:49.And next season when the new television deal starts. There is

:42:50. > :42:52.more money and more emphasis on making sure that they keep their

:42:53. > :42:56.Premier League status this year. So there is a lot of pressure on it.

:42:57. > :43:03.That will be a I cross the board. He has to manage that and ensure that

:43:04. > :43:10.the players are relaxed as possible. And back to matters Scottish and the

:43:11. > :43:13.Scottish rip. St Johnstone are a point behind Hearts?

:43:14. > :43:19.When the league table came up, I noticed that. I thought that is a

:43:20. > :43:22.really crucial thing for this game next week with Hearts and Aberdeen.

:43:23. > :43:28.We were talking about how Aberdeen could go seven clear of Hearts.

:43:29. > :43:34.Tough for the Saints. They are playing Celtic? But they are in good

:43:35. > :43:39.form. Celtic are not as formidable as even a couple of years ago. So

:43:40. > :43:43.for St Johnstone, full of confidence, with a good run of form.

:43:44. > :43:51.With Hearts in their sights, this is nothing.

:43:52. > :43:54.Craig Paterson was saying, look at St Johnstone, there is no one

:43:55. > :43:58.individual. There are players that can score from almost everywhere.

:43:59. > :44:04.They have been a unit for a council of years. The back four. There has

:44:05. > :44:08.been one or two editions. But with a unit like that and you stay together

:44:09. > :44:16.for a council of years, there is a real togetherness about that. You

:44:17. > :44:23.can see that. That is how Tommy Wright has managed them. We did not

:44:24. > :44:30.speak much about Dundee but they have hit the skids a bit. If you

:44:31. > :44:35.look at the table, although in 7th, they are only five away from the

:44:36. > :44:41.second bottom in the play-off spot. Are we in trouble? Or is that

:44:42. > :44:46.over-egging it a wee bit? Possibly. I think that Paul Hartley will be

:44:47. > :44:52.keen to turn it around. But you look at six draws, one defeat. So it is

:44:53. > :44:56.not horrendous form if that is the bad spell, they will take that.

:44:57. > :44:59.Coming up to Christmas. There are lots of games. It gives them an

:45:00. > :45:05.opportunity to pick up points if they can turn the form a little.

:45:06. > :45:09.The next game against Motherwell and then Hamilton. You expect them to

:45:10. > :45:13.get something. Well, the Dundee fans would.

:45:14. > :45:20.It is not a disaster as Michael said. There is so much attacking

:45:21. > :45:24.flair going forward with the players that can score, Stuart Hemmings but

:45:25. > :45:32.they cannot keep the doors closed at the back. That is how they are

:45:33. > :45:38.sitting. Two big games coming up. Kilmarnock are 10th two points above

:45:39. > :45:42.Motherwell, a point today. The home performances dire? From the start of

:45:43. > :45:46.the season they flirted with the bottom of the table. You thought

:45:47. > :45:51.that they were breaking away but then they go backwards.

:45:52. > :45:57.But they played well against Celtic? But follow that up with losing five

:45:58. > :46:01.at home! Then United, there for the taking, a team detached from the

:46:02. > :46:06.bottom of the league. They would have fancied their chances. They

:46:07. > :46:12.have to be careful. They are so inconsistent. You cannot

:46:13. > :46:17.predict what is happening with them. With a side as unpredictable and

:46:18. > :46:22.inconsistent as that, there is a danger that they are dragged into a

:46:23. > :46:24.relegation battle. Too early to detect a pattern of who

:46:25. > :46:37.is going down? I loved my time at Dundee United and

:46:38. > :46:42.it is tough to see it happening to a club that has done so well over the

:46:43. > :46:48.years. But it might be a difficult gap to claw back even with four

:46:49. > :46:54.months of the season to go. Possibly the greatest goal in the history of

:46:55. > :47:01.the world, it is scored by Neil Maclean of Inveraray locals against

:47:02. > :47:07.Annan Athletic last week. Let me set the scene, they are for -3 down

:47:08. > :47:12.after Annan Athletic scored a late goal, this is what happened straight

:47:13. > :47:18.from the restart. Can you do some commentary on this golf? I am not

:47:19. > :47:24.ready for that. It is tremendous skill but do not take anything

:47:25. > :47:32.away, the tackle, he has seen that coming a mile away. I have seen that

:47:33. > :47:41.a few times and I don't know, no way he has meant that. I hope he did.

:47:42. > :47:48.Have you seen a better goal scored than that? Have you scored a better

:47:49. > :47:55.one? Michael probably has, I only ever scored deflections. I have seen

:47:56. > :48:00.a few, nap, ra's free kick against Manchester United in the Champions

:48:01. > :48:06.League, that is one of the best goals I have seen when I was there.

:48:07. > :48:13.It is such a difficult question. I don't know. Similar to what he was

:48:14. > :48:18.saying, there was a goal Steven Gerrard scored against United that

:48:19. > :48:29.was a screamer, the whole occasion of those games as well. A text here

:48:30. > :48:34.saying "you are a terrible pundit. " It is from the goal-scorer. There

:48:35. > :48:42.was another game postponed for Annan Athletic today, do you expect them

:48:43. > :48:47.to go through? It is a great run for them, to get a goal like that late

:48:48. > :48:56.on to get a replay, there will not be a lot between the teams. That is

:48:57. > :49:02.it for a windswept but hopefully interesting results show. Look at

:49:03. > :49:11.that, wins for Aberdeen and Sam Johnston. Just one match in the

:49:12. > :49:14.championship, a 2-0 win for Dumbarton away at Alloa Athletic.

:49:15. > :49:24.The highlight show is on tomorrow night. The results show will be back

:49:25. > :49:37.next week on BBC One. We hope you can join us for that.

:49:38. > :49:49.Get dialling please. Thank you to Mark Wilson and Michael Stewart. I

:49:50. > :49:52.have a couple of gondolas to take them home, enjoy, enjoy the rest of

:49:53. > :50:15.your evening and we will see you soon, good night.

:50:16. > :50:20.celebrating 12 extraordinary months in music.
