:00:55. > :00:55.The second weekend of the season already.
:00:56. > :00:59.There's absolutely no let-up in the momentum.
:01:00. > :01:01.Tonight's Sportscene is jam-packed with great goals, red cards
:01:02. > :01:04.Fizzy drinks and pancakes still not quite
:01:05. > :01:09.But it's been a gruelling pre-season for our guests.
:01:10. > :01:12.Pat Nevin and Dundee United's Mark Wilson are here,
:01:13. > :01:19.After their rollercoaster ride in the Champions' League already this
:01:20. > :01:23.season, Ronny Delia's side finally got their Premiership season up
:01:24. > :01:26.and running with a slightly low-key victory at St Johnstone midweek.
:01:27. > :01:29.For their first League match of the season at Celtic Park they
:01:30. > :01:33.Two wins out of two, top of the table.
:01:34. > :01:49.COMMENTATOR: What a strike. Six points. Top of the table T can't go
:01:50. > :01:54.any better than that. Wednesday we are top of the league, 9 out of 9.
:01:55. > :01:58.That would be amazing. Never surprised how well they play. They
:01:59. > :02:02.are a dream team. We are hoping we go back with the three points.
:02:03. > :02:07.Fergus McCann was a divisive figure in his time here but he has nothing
:02:08. > :02:19.but warmth from the Celtic crowd these days. The history books show,
:02:20. > :02:25.he made it all possible. Rowany dealier was dealt a three-match
:02:26. > :02:31.blow. Am broes is coming in at rightback, a player was injured in
:02:32. > :02:36.the warm-up. There is a debut for Denayer on loan from Manchester
:02:37. > :02:39.City. Jackie McNamara goes for the same team for the third game in a
:02:40. > :02:53.row. That means mid-week hero, Marrow
:02:54. > :02:56.Balati stays on the bench. Oh, almost a dream start for the
:02:57. > :03:00.champions. Back on home turf. McGregor, who is a top scorer,
:03:01. > :03:11.almost got his fourth. Ambrose losing out to Armstrong. An
:03:12. > :03:19.open start here. A wonderful ball from Armstrong. And MacKay Steven
:03:20. > :03:24.can't finish. Two huge moments in the opening couple of minutes here.
:03:25. > :03:26.What a pass it was from Armstrong to release Mackay-Steven. Commons'
:03:27. > :03:38.corner. In four minutes into his Celtic
:03:39. > :03:44.debut, Jason Denayer, the 19-year-old from Brussels gives
:03:45. > :03:51.Celtic lead. Dundee United breached for the fist time this season after
:03:52. > :03:57.a couple of clean sheets. What a finish from the centre half. Stokes
:03:58. > :04:03.delivery and that's Commons. And it is two.
:04:04. > :04:09.Again, there is a huge question mark over the Dundee United defending at
:04:10. > :04:16.another corner. Commons didn't have to do much to score that. Peyton and
:04:17. > :04:28.Rankin were the two United players closest to him. -- Payton.
:04:29. > :04:35.Paton has been pick-pocketed bio-Hansen and it is three for
:04:36. > :04:42.Celtic. Dreadful again for Dundee United -- from Johansen.
:04:43. > :04:46.Johansen getting away from Paton and finishing well. Celtic smelling
:04:47. > :04:58.blood. They are looking more like themselves here. And Berget hits the
:04:59. > :05:05.crossbar. Well, almost four and we are not even at half-time. McGregor
:05:06. > :05:14.and a lovely reverse pass. Celtic in again. Commons. Well, that was
:05:15. > :05:22.Cierzniak, saving initially from Stokes. Commons thought he was about
:05:23. > :05:28.to gobble up the rebound. He was so happy McNamara with the defending in
:05:29. > :05:34.the first games and he goes for goal. It is wonderful from a neutral
:05:35. > :05:44.point of view to see Craig Gordon pulling off saves like that, but it
:05:45. > :05:50.is frustrating for Ciftci. Well, Mulgrew claiming that. Was it the
:05:51. > :05:55.most wicked of free kicks you have to say? I'm not sure it took a touch
:05:56. > :06:01.the it looks like Stokes' goal. McGrew reckons it is his. But it is
:06:02. > :06:10.4-0, Celtic. Here they come again. Stokes. That's Cierzniak's and it
:06:11. > :06:17.could have been worse. But for the pole, he's pulled off a couple of
:06:18. > :06:21.decent saves in the second half. Dundee United haven't won here since
:06:22. > :06:30.Boxing Day 1992. It is certainly going to continue and there's
:06:31. > :06:34.another. Well, we knew a while ago that it was going to continue but
:06:35. > :06:42.Berget adds a fifth. His first for the club. What a big result for
:06:43. > :06:50.Ronnie Delia. Here is Rankin. Oh, it took a
:06:51. > :07:01.deflection and United are back. There will be no clean sheet for
:07:02. > :07:05.It is consolation - if you can call it that when you have already
:07:06. > :07:16.conceded five. This is Forest. The Celtic sub. Oh,
:07:17. > :07:22.he has pulled up as well. He has managed to release Kayal. But he has
:07:23. > :07:29.pulled up. Looks like a hamstring. A problem for him. And it's Berget,
:07:30. > :07:36.and it is six. Well, a horror story of an afternoon for Dundee United.
:07:37. > :07:39.Celtic running amok. They've demolished the terrors. The optimism
:07:40. > :07:45.of the early season flattened already by a rampant Celtic. I think
:07:46. > :07:49.football should be fun to watch and play. It is fun to have the ball and
:07:50. > :07:54.press and create things. The first 60 minutes was good enough. We
:07:55. > :07:59.created a lot of chances and defended well. And it was a good
:08:00. > :08:03.performance. I lost four goals to set pieces. It doesn't matter how
:08:04. > :08:06.good you play or the team plays, if you don't do the fundamentals you
:08:07. > :08:10.will be beaten. Especially, coming here to lose three goals in the
:08:11. > :08:16.first half, when they are up and when everybody wants the ball, it is
:08:17. > :08:18.harder for the players. Celtic ruthlessly demonstrating the gulf
:08:19. > :08:24.that exists between themselves and the rest. Mark, you missed out
:08:25. > :08:27.yesterday, you are still three weeks away from but that must have been
:08:28. > :08:32.painful to watch. I felt for the boys. It could have been so much
:08:33. > :08:37.different if we'd taken a chance in the first minute but when you go to
:08:38. > :08:41.Celtic Park, you need to take your chances. We didn't and Celtic turned
:08:42. > :08:45.on the style and passed it well. All their big players turned up. It was
:08:46. > :08:49.a great show for them but a horror show for us. Celtic seemed to click
:08:50. > :08:53.into life yesterday, Pat. We'll look more into that in a minute but
:08:54. > :08:57.Dundee United, a few defensive frailties. It is a new-looking
:08:58. > :09:01.defence anyway. It is tough for them because Celtic as you say were
:09:02. > :09:06.playing well. But Celtic play well but it needed Dundee it play badly.
:09:07. > :09:11.Have a look at this. Both these players block each other. A block is
:09:12. > :09:16.a good idea in a defensive position but you block the opposition, not
:09:17. > :09:20.each other. That's great ball in from Stokes. Magnificent. Zipped N
:09:21. > :09:29.once again, a good block at the back. Zorb zipped in. I'm not sure
:09:30. > :09:36.Mulgrew gets a touch but that's incredibly hard to defend. That's
:09:37. > :09:41.Amoruso broes. That's awful. -- that's Ambrose.
:09:42. > :09:46.You don't know how to react from that. It takes good play from
:09:47. > :09:50.Celtic, but it also takes bad defending from Dundee United. But
:09:51. > :09:53.I'm sure they will get better. Let's talk about how Celtic clicked into
:09:54. > :09:58.life. It has been difficult for them at times. And suddenly a good
:09:59. > :10:01.performance, how did that happen? I haven't been jumping on any
:10:02. > :10:06.bandwagons saying they are having a nightmare. It is very, very early in
:10:07. > :10:09.the season. This sort of stuff is what we have seen from them last
:10:10. > :10:12.season. All through the middle. Loads of stuff from Stokes and
:10:13. > :10:17.Commons, picking up in great positions. Delia asking them to
:10:18. > :10:21.close up high up the pitch. He wants them to do that. They are already
:10:22. > :10:26.getting good opportunities. You were talking about the slick passing.
:10:27. > :10:31.Especially when you have the big pitch and the are inis on it, it
:10:32. > :10:35.makes it more difficult -- big pitch and the rain is on it. All the good
:10:36. > :10:38.stuff goes through Commons in the middle of the pitch. Examples like
:10:39. > :10:42.this, little one-twos which are very hard to match when they were on the
:10:43. > :10:47.form they were yesterday. It isn't just them two. Them two - you talk
:10:48. > :10:50.about them, picking up the boys more often than enough and Griffiths to
:10:51. > :10:54.come N it is a shame because there are a number of players that played
:10:55. > :10:57.well yesterday. Sad to see Forest pulling up. He is another special
:10:58. > :11:03.player for them. Look at this, the numbers getting into the box there.
:11:04. > :11:07.I mean, it is the Celtic way. You go and attack and you go and attack in
:11:08. > :11:12.numbers. And it doesn't matter if you score one, two, or three, you
:11:13. > :11:17.want four, five, or six and if Ronnie continues doing that, he will
:11:18. > :11:22.love it. We saw in the papers about how Ronnie Delia's banned drinks
:11:23. > :11:26.from the training ground. He wants them to look like a Champions'
:11:27. > :11:30.League side and get them ultimately fix. They came up so short against
:11:31. > :11:36.Warsaw. They have a second chance. How do you see them getting on
:11:37. > :11:41.against them. It is another unknown quantity. I think we will be better
:11:42. > :11:47.prepared. It is a further week or two down the line. They'll take
:11:48. > :11:55.confidence from that performance yesterday, but I fancy Celtic to go
:11:56. > :12:00.through.k having the second bite of the cherry they'll look up to it. It
:12:01. > :12:04.is going to be looked at tomorrow. Do you think they can make it to the
:12:05. > :12:11.group stages? I don't think they will overcome the decision so I
:12:12. > :12:15.think it'll go ahead. I this they can, because they are A, into their
:12:16. > :12:19.stride, they are playing the way the manager wants them to and they are a
:12:20. > :12:24.good team but the biggest thing, they are back at Celtic Park and
:12:25. > :12:28.it'll take a good team to stop them there.
:12:29. > :12:32.It's safe to say Motherwell are still to sparkle so far this season.
:12:33. > :12:34.In contrast, they took on an Inverness Caley Thistle side
:12:35. > :12:40.starting to shine under the stewardship of manager John Hughes.
:12:41. > :12:58.For Inverness, they are forced to make one change from mid-week, James
:12:59. > :13:01.vint failed to recover from injury, so Watkins is included in the
:13:02. > :13:07.starting line-up for the first time this season.
:13:08. > :13:15.A slack passback there. Here's Ainsworth. A good header away by
:13:16. > :13:23.Warren. A fine piece of defending by Warren. It is a lovely curling
:13:24. > :13:44.effort there from Ainsworth. Neat football in the middle of the park
:13:45. > :13:54.again from Caley Thistle. Here is pansy.
:13:55. > :14:02.Tansey. You would think Motherwell should
:14:03. > :14:09.have scored. Watkins there with a crunching chal frequent David
:14:10. > :14:14.Ferguson. Christie was in there. He was on the end of that cutback from
:14:15. > :14:27.Watkins. Fine defending by the teenager. Neat football again. It's
:14:28. > :14:37.Tansey taking over. What a strike that is. Terrific effort there from
:14:38. > :14:40.Greg Tansey. Well, he scored three goals last season. That's his first
:14:41. > :14:47.of this campaign. He won't hit another one any better.
:14:48. > :14:57.And Motherwell desperate to get themselves back level in this
:14:58. > :15:02.encounter. Here's Erwin, looking for Kerr. He seemed to be tripped there
:15:03. > :15:06.by Meekings, just outside the box. The referee is not interested,
:15:07. > :15:10.though. It certainly looked as though there were contact there from
:15:11. > :15:17.the Caley Thistle defender on the ankle of Kerr.
:15:18. > :15:28.Caley Thistle are off and running again. Here is Aaron Dorrian, the
:15:29. > :15:33.substitute, teasing the fullback. Do -- Aaron Doran.
:15:34. > :15:38.Oh, a spectacular effort from Aaron DoraN. Wonderful piece of skill. He
:15:39. > :15:41.just found that yard of space to curl it beyond the goalkeeper and
:15:42. > :15:45.that will secure the three points for Inverness and a place at the top
:15:46. > :15:49.of the stable tonight. First half I felt all the hard work
:15:50. > :15:53.we had done in the closed season, it had come to fruition in that first
:15:54. > :15:56.half. We were slick, passed it well. Ball retention very good. Created
:15:57. > :16:00.enough chances to go and win a couple of games and you are sitting
:16:01. > :16:04.thinking to yourself, you are getting a bit frustrated. Thankfully
:16:05. > :16:08.we came up trumps before the break. Sthoo we were not anywhere near the
:16:09. > :16:13.level where we were last season. We have to get up to that. It is our
:16:14. > :16:16.job as a staffing group to work hard in training. Build a bit of
:16:17. > :16:20.confidence. We know we were under par today. We don't become bad
:16:21. > :16:24.players overnight. That team are testing my patience and nerves. They
:16:25. > :16:26.leave it to the 90th minute to score the second goal but well worth the
:16:27. > :16:29.victory that's for sure. the second goal but well worth the
:16:30. > :16:32.victory that's for sure. I think they were probably a bit
:16:33. > :16:37.critical of Inverness Caledonian Thistle when John Hughes took over
:16:38. > :16:42.and tried to change the style a bit at the end of last season but by the
:16:43. > :16:46.looks of things it is bearing fruit? It looks like it has come together
:16:47. > :16:50.now. He got stick last season for trying to change the way they play.
:16:51. > :16:54.Inverness like to battle and play long balls under Terry Butcher but
:16:55. > :16:58.John Hughes has come in and he has his own philosophy. Great passing
:16:59. > :17:03.there. Slick stuff. He has stamped his authority on that team. And much
:17:04. > :17:11.more enjoyable to play in a team that's passing the ball. It follow
:17:12. > :17:14.on from last weekend when they got a 2-0 victory at Hamilton be aies.
:17:15. > :17:21.They seem to be enjoying their football -- at Hamilton Accies.
:17:22. > :17:26.Nchtss when you are a football player, you enjoy playing football.
:17:27. > :17:31.When you are asked to play it long t gets boring You can see it is paying
:17:32. > :17:39.off now. A good start to last season. Pat your old Motherwell side
:17:40. > :17:43.are struggling. They beat St Mirren but seemed to be struggling for
:17:44. > :17:48.form. At the start of the season, I feel the same thing, I think - this
:17:49. > :17:52.is the season it has to happen Mo well. They have so many changes, and
:17:53. > :17:55.lose so many good players. -- Motherwell. Every season they get
:17:56. > :18:00.back up. I look at it again and I think - it might be. Do you know
:18:01. > :18:04.what, I think it might be a surprise. I think the manager is
:18:05. > :18:07.great and he will get them up there, but he has a battle. This is a poor
:18:08. > :18:14.start. Everyone's favourites
:18:15. > :18:16.for relegation next - unless you After their opening weekend defeat
:18:17. > :18:20.to Inverness, Alex Neill's promoted side bounced right back with
:18:21. > :18:31.a midweek victory over St Mirren. Manager Alec Neil drops out of his
:18:32. > :18:37.own team after a groin injury. He replaces himself with Crawford.
:18:38. > :18:41.The saipts have appealed against the captain's red card on Wednesday
:18:42. > :18:47.against Celtic, so he is available. Adam Morgan, on loan from Yeovil
:18:48. > :18:56.Town will try to fill Stevie May's boots.
:18:57. > :19:04.Mackay and Morgan. With Saints losing the ball and McKinnon has got
:19:05. > :19:09.Hamilton away in a counter here. A decent position comes to McKinnon.
:19:10. > :19:26.And in it goes. Or has it come off Anderson on its
:19:27. > :19:32.way through. But McKinnon will claim that. It is his goal and it is
:19:33. > :19:38.Accies in the driving seat here. Very blustery conditions for the two
:19:39. > :19:44.teams to put up with. A typical summer afternoon in Lanarkshire.
:19:45. > :19:53.This is decent build-up from the hosts. That's kraufrd.
:19:54. > :19:59.Excellent save by Mannus. And it had to be. To keep out that piledriver
:20:00. > :20:13.from Crawford. A lovely slipped ball through there
:20:14. > :20:17.and it is Hendrie's effort off the line and it is Anderson. An
:20:18. > :20:28.important intervention from the Saints' centre half. Hendrie thought
:20:29. > :20:35.he'd doubled Accies' lead. Still Saints come. They look better in the
:20:36. > :20:41.second period. Wotherspoon across and Canning knocks it off his own
:20:42. > :20:44.cross bar. Gordon tried to mop out. It does go behind but how fortunate
:20:45. > :20:50.was Martin Canning here. Here is Gary McDonald, a former
:20:51. > :21:04.Accies player. On as a sub. Wotherspoon will fancy this. Well,
:21:05. > :21:08.he has every right to go for goal himself. He found himself in a
:21:09. > :21:14.wonderful area. He is capable from there. Tommy Wright, Callum
:21:15. > :21:19.Davidson, are pondering things right now. They are under the cosh again,
:21:20. > :21:26.are St Johnstone. That's off the line by MacLean. It was Canning's
:21:27. > :21:30.header. Snr well, that's going to come through to Mannus. But this was
:21:31. > :21:34.another one off the line. We saw it in the first half and this time it
:21:35. > :21:36.was the attacker, MacLean, the man who scored the second goal for
:21:37. > :21:47.Saints in the Scottish Cup final. That's going to come right back at
:21:48. > :21:52.Accies here. It is Wotherspoon's ball in. Well, McGovern got it half
:21:53. > :21:59.clea. It is still alive. This is Millar. Wotherspoon will get a
:22:00. > :22:07.second bite at this. That's Mackay at the back post. Imrie did enough
:22:08. > :22:19.to put him off. Well, Dave Mackay wants a corner here. It ma well have
:22:20. > :22:24.come off Imrie last. Accies think they'll win T Andy Ryan. The
:22:25. > :22:27.Hamilton fans in the main stand thought he had won it there. A
:22:28. > :22:49.second goal would surely do that. That's MacLean. He tees it up for
:22:50. > :22:56.Wotherspoon. Canning blocks and McGovern makes the save. MacLean's
:22:57. > :23:00.effort and he claims handball against Tena. It's not forthcoming
:23:01. > :23:06.and St Johnstone had running out of time. It looks like a second
:23:07. > :23:11.successive defeat for them. We only managed one goal which was
:23:12. > :23:17.unfortunate. A game develops. A team as good as St John stone will have a
:23:18. > :23:21.good spell. We defended for our lives. I thought we should have had
:23:22. > :23:24.a penalty at the end. If you don't start well, it is difficult to come
:23:25. > :23:28.from behind in this league. That proved to be the case today. The
:23:29. > :23:30.second half was a lot better. It is something we must take into next
:23:31. > :23:36.week. I always said they would stay up.
:23:37. > :23:41.The second goal in a row. That the will happen. McKinnon with the goal.
:23:42. > :23:45.Interesting story. Not the best saint John stone defending either,
:23:46. > :23:51.you would have to say. -- St Johnston. A fantastic story. He
:23:52. > :23:56.starts to move here in his own half. He gets up with play and supports
:23:57. > :24:01.the play, but as I say a fantastic football from where he comes from.
:24:02. > :24:05.Junior football. It shows you, guys playing there. Something to aim for.
:24:06. > :24:11.And he is getting his chance at 28. It is not rye deal defender. -- not
:24:12. > :24:17.ideal defending. But well done for him for sticking
:24:18. > :24:24.it away. Tough sometimes for St Johnstone. The hand of God, the hand
:24:25. > :24:30.of Jesus. Shouts for handball. Was it a penalty A handball and in the
:24:31. > :24:36.box. But look at this. Can he get out of the way of it? No, it is too
:24:37. > :24:40.close. It is in the box, I wouldn't give a penalty here. The reason
:24:41. > :24:45.being is - when you go out, watch his left leg, he goes out to tackle.
:24:46. > :24:49.If your left leg is out, your hand comes out to balance. If you don't
:24:50. > :24:53.put your hand out to balance, you will fall over. That hand for me is
:24:54. > :24:56.not in a natural position. For someone who is tackling, it is a
:24:57. > :24:59.perfectly natural position. Every week we get a different position.
:25:00. > :25:02.Yesterday West Ham got one against them for the same thing. We need to
:25:03. > :25:07.get this cleared up. Some referees give them. Some don't. What do you
:25:08. > :25:11.think of Accies this season, Mark? So many people have decided they
:25:12. > :25:15.will be the weakest team in the division. That remains to be seen.
:25:16. > :25:18.They are going great guns. A mid-week victory over St Mirren a
:25:19. > :25:22.great result for them. Definitely. They are obviously still on a high
:25:23. > :25:27.from the way they finished off last season but to go to St Mirren and by
:25:28. > :25:31.all accounts they played very well. You know, a fantastic goal there,
:25:32. > :25:36.but they played very well and passed the ball well. A great result. An
:25:37. > :25:41.ideal start for them. One thing that will help them greatly, is that
:25:42. > :25:44.pitch. If you are used to playing on their home pitch every week and
:25:45. > :25:50.playing on that surface. However good you say it is, it will actually
:25:51. > :25:56.help you, if you are playing on that. Funnelly enough it -- funnily
:25:57. > :26:01.enough, it helps a night, neat passing style. Maybe Hamilton
:26:02. > :26:06.players are not getting the respect they deserve. They got up in the
:26:07. > :26:11.play-offs but they are showing that they have what it takes. You get the
:26:12. > :26:15.respect with the results. As simple as that. If you are a player and
:26:16. > :26:18.people write you off, you are delighted. It is great fun. You
:26:19. > :26:23.think - we have nothing to lose, we'll go and show them. It is not a
:26:24. > :26:26.lack of respect me talking about the pitch, that's the facts, it helps
:26:27. > :26:32.you when you have a different pitch than everyone else.
:26:33. > :26:34.Next to Dens Park, where home side Dundee were hoping
:26:35. > :26:37.to continue with their solid start back in the top flight.
:26:38. > :26:39.Two games played, they'd both finished as draws.
:26:40. > :26:41.Paul Hartley's side were up against Partick Thistle.
:26:42. > :26:43.The Glasgow side had started their own Premiership campaign with
:26:44. > :27:11.a midweek goals rush against Ross County.
:27:12. > :27:19.The captain, Kevin misses out for Dundee. Winning your opening game of
:27:20. > :27:24.the season 4-0 would suggest the correct starting line-up was picked.
:27:25. > :27:38.Alan Archibald thinks so. Same again for Partick Thistle.
:27:39. > :27:45.He goes for the byline. A cross. Should have been an opening goal.
:27:46. > :27:49.What a great chance. A terrific cross for
:27:50. > :28:00.A great start from Partick Thistle. Flanagan had a chance with a header.
:28:01. > :28:06.On to hikingin Botham. -- Higginbotham. Back to Gary Fraser.
:28:07. > :28:15.The opening goal comes after five minutes. Phrase and all the power
:28:16. > :28:16.from Danny Fraser. He scored mid-week against Ross County. Two in
:28:17. > :28:29.two games. That's a stunner. Higginbotham play it is wide. The
:28:30. > :28:38.cross is decent. Flanagan in with a chance. Done -- Bannigan with a
:28:39. > :29:03.chance. Dundee are causing their own problems.
:29:04. > :29:08.high. The top of the crossbar, you always have to watch with Harkins
:29:09. > :29:17.around. He is always capable of scoring from there. Harkins. The
:29:18. > :29:35.quick ball back. Fraser will lose out. McAlister. That is a lovely
:29:36. > :29:41.finish! From the 17-year-old. His first in the top flag of Scottish
:29:42. > :29:55.football, sliding past Fox. Lovely finish. Harkins plays it in. And
:29:56. > :30:11.directory says penalty. -- the referee. He certainly conceded the
:30:12. > :30:16.penalty, that Bush on McPake. And that is a yellow card for Fox. This
:30:17. > :30:24.could cause a problem. His hand was out. The referee says this is a red
:30:25. > :30:29.card. It does not matter how hard you had somebody, if you raise your
:30:30. > :30:40.hand, that is precisely what will happen. And Paul Gallacher with the
:30:41. > :30:56.save. The birthday boy comes up trumps. What an interesting game.
:30:57. > :30:59.McAlister. MacDonald! Paul Gallacher with the save. Called into action
:31:00. > :31:07.again. We had a very good first half and we
:31:08. > :31:15.moved the ball very well. We created a number of chances. I think we had
:31:16. > :31:20.that chance after two minutes so we are disappointed. We could have won
:31:21. > :31:25.that in the end but full credit to Partick Thistle in the first half,
:31:26. > :31:30.we were off the pace. The response was excellent, we kept having a go
:31:31. > :31:36.and we had a great goal. Overall, I thought the second half was
:31:37. > :31:41.excellent. What was your take on 87 being set of? We will have to see
:31:42. > :31:47.that again, the referee said violent conduct. The goalkeeper just put his
:31:48. > :31:53.hand up to push someone away. The referee said, enough of that. Let us
:31:54. > :31:57.go straight to that incident. Betrayal by sport is not just the
:31:58. > :32:02.preserve of Goodwin. Did he deserve to go? I am not convinced that was a
:32:03. > :32:12.penalty in the first place. That was quite soft. But the referee has made
:32:13. > :32:15.the decision. Look at that. It doesn't matter how hard you had
:32:16. > :32:29.somebody, if he had somebody in the face, you are going. -- you hit. But
:32:30. > :32:34.from this angle. That looks like a little slap. But as soon as you
:32:35. > :32:39.raise your hand, one yard from the referee. They used to play together
:32:40. > :32:47.at Celtic, they are mates. I do not think there is any malice in that.
:32:48. > :32:52.Gallacher replaced Fox, like a large part of last season. Celebrating his
:32:53. > :33:00.birthday today. But you don't see Partick Thistle appealing that.
:33:01. > :33:04.There is no -- no way in the world you will get that, you raise your
:33:05. > :33:09.hand and you are going. But he is not being horrible to him. Paul
:33:10. > :33:15.Hartley was raising about the new talent. He has a new contract. What
:33:16. > :33:21.do you make of Dundee this season? I think they will be OK, they have
:33:22. > :33:27.bought very well, you have got Harkins, Ferry, lots of Premier
:33:28. > :33:33.League experience, so they will be OK the season. Will they stay up? It
:33:34. > :33:37.is good for United if they do because the derby is fantastic to
:33:38. > :33:40.play in. Not the best of starts for Ross County.
:33:41. > :33:42.Two games, two defeats, just the one goal scored.
:33:43. > :33:45.Could their new players gel in time for the visit of Kilmarnock?
:33:46. > :33:51.Allan Johnstone's side themselves have a new-look forward line.
:33:52. > :34:04.Two changes to the Ross County side that was beaten at Firhill. Incomes
:34:05. > :34:17.Balk and De Leeuw. Former Liverpool striker Ngoo makes his debut for
:34:18. > :34:25.Kilmarnock. He lost it and won it back. That was a good strike,
:34:26. > :34:37.deflected. And not far from the target. The first real threat from
:34:38. > :34:53.Ross County. Carey. But wobbled a bit. And Samsung juggled it. He got
:34:54. > :35:02.that at the second attempt. The free kick. Ross County trying to do with
:35:03. > :35:06.it, not quite... Ngoo, he was onside. That was a chance for
:35:07. > :35:14.Kilmarnock to get themselves in front. Good work from Connolly but
:35:15. > :35:21.good goalkeeping, in the end. Another set piece. And that is
:35:22. > :35:36.Connolly's header, pulled away by Reguero. That was living. And that
:35:37. > :35:46.was well saved. -- living. Add the header was there. -- and the.
:35:47. > :35:53.Reguero stuck his -- stuck his hand up. But he failed to judge this,
:35:54. > :36:12.Magennis scored his first goal for Kilmarnock. McKenzie. Magennis gets
:36:13. > :36:22.the better of Boyd and fires wide. They are certainly creating chances,
:36:23. > :36:30.Kilmarnock. Just one taken so far. Slater. That is the open goal. And
:36:31. > :36:38.he was happy to accept the invitation. And his first goal for
:36:39. > :37:00.Kilmarnock. Gloriously unmarked. 2-0. Quinn. Jervis. That was a good
:37:01. > :37:07.ball. And Boyce gets one goal back for Ross County. They were looking
:37:08. > :37:24.down and out. That gives him just a little fragment of hope. 98 minutes
:37:25. > :37:29.from time. That makes it 2-1. Uncertain defending from Ross
:37:30. > :37:37.County. That was trouble. And Reguero bails them out. With the
:37:38. > :37:41.block on Ngoo as he threatens to do more damage. It was good to get on
:37:42. > :37:47.the scoresheet, that was a good performance. Josh got the goal. But
:37:48. > :37:52.overall that was a very good team performance. You lost two headers
:37:53. > :37:56.from the centre of the box. We have to stop the ball in the box first of
:37:57. > :38:03.all and then stopping the ball getting into the attacker. But these
:38:04. > :38:10.things that individuals have to deal with and we could have done better.
:38:11. > :38:19.They were bad goals to lose? They are, they had enough warnings. When
:38:20. > :38:25.the ball was in the box, stop Ross County if you can. This is Connolly.
:38:26. > :38:31.Nobody has made any challenge so we have had the warning, maybe next
:38:32. > :38:36.time... Again, similar area. Magennis at the back. There were
:38:37. > :38:42.enough players, you cannot make a better chance than that. OK, what we
:38:43. > :38:53.will try next time is leave him alone completely! That must have...
:38:54. > :38:58.You walk away. There are enough, he is a winner, not a defender, but he
:38:59. > :39:04.has been completely left. His mates are thinking, what on earth are you
:39:05. > :39:08.doing? The good thing is, that is easy to work on and Derek can get
:39:09. > :39:17.them doing that. But don't give easy goals away at this stage. And that
:39:18. > :39:21.attempted save from Reguero... What about Kilmarnock and the
:39:22. > :39:29.strikeforce? Ngoo, Magennis, that is a new look. How well are they doing?
:39:30. > :39:33.They will be OK. Like Dundee, good signings and lots of firepower, good
:39:34. > :39:37.for the men to get on the scoresheet. That will give them a
:39:38. > :39:42.lot of confidence. I think they will be OK the season, they have changed
:39:43. > :39:46.the pitch, which might help them or it might not. You never know. They
:39:47. > :39:53.will be OK this season. Disappointed? For me, yes. I am not
:39:54. > :39:56.a fan of that pitch, it should be grass. But I can see we clubs do
:39:57. > :40:00.that, cost-effective. Time to dip into the Championship
:40:01. > :40:02.now and we start with The first ever Edinburgh derby in
:40:03. > :40:06.the League outside the top-flight Bragging rights plus precious
:40:07. > :40:09.Championship points on offer. At a pulsating Tynecastle
:40:10. > :40:23.for us was Rob Maclean. Parts of a goalkeeper crisis. Scott
:40:24. > :40:30.Gallaher twisted his ankle so Jack Hamilton has given his debut in the
:40:31. > :40:41.derby. Hibs have a defender injured, Nelson takes his place. The
:40:42. > :40:50.goal-scorer last weekend, 170 macro with the kick out, helped on by El
:40:51. > :40:56.Alagui. And the referee is pointing to the spot. Jack Hamilton is
:40:57. > :41:07.various, he claimed he got a touch on this. And Hibs have a chance to
:41:08. > :41:13.get themselves a head. It is the skipper, Liam Craig. From the spot
:41:14. > :41:29.and he puts that wide. That was a big chance missed. He did not seem
:41:30. > :41:38.to make good contact with the ball. McHattie. From Nicholson. Was he
:41:39. > :41:46.tripped up inside the box, --? He reckons. The penalty is waved away.
:41:47. > :41:59.Billy King's corner. Foster gets it clear. Back in by Gomis. Michael
:42:00. > :42:09.Nelson hand that dangerous header. That was a smart save from 170
:42:10. > :42:15.macro. -- 170 macro. Prince Buaben. The advantage was played. Well, it
:42:16. > :42:22.might not be a yellow card the first time around but for the second
:42:23. > :42:33.offence, clattering in to Holt, Robinson has been booked. Another
:42:34. > :42:37.corner. Hibs clear it. What a good strike that was from McGhee, the
:42:38. > :42:50.young full-back. He controlled that so well. Sam Nicholson with the
:42:51. > :42:57.nutmeg on Scott Robinson. It is Nicholson! That is a spectacular
:42:58. > :43:00.opening goal in the derby. From 75 minutes, this match has been pretty
:43:01. > :43:09.forgettable. It certainly explodes into life with a moment of top
:43:10. > :43:28.quality. First that not make, then that sizzle from Sam. -- nutmeg.
:43:29. > :43:34.Hamilton. Down he goes. Penalty. That is a second yellow card for
:43:35. > :43:40.Robinson. Hibs are one man down and they might be about to go to
:43:41. > :43:54.Goldstone. That was the hand into the chest. Enough reason for woolly
:43:55. > :43:59.column to say penalty. -- Will Collum. And that was the perfect
:44:00. > :44:08.penalty, into the top corner. And he sets off on his celebration. No
:44:09. > :44:17.chance for 170 macro, but was placed with a goalkeeper was not going to
:44:18. > :44:22.get to it. 2-0, parts. Robbie Neilson on the brink of a derby win.
:44:23. > :44:27.He has missed a great chance! To bring this game back in July. Jack
:44:28. > :44:37.Hamilton makes the save but he really should not have stood a
:44:38. > :44:44.chance. Dan goes Nelson, holding his face. And across comes a referee
:44:45. > :44:54.with the red card. He threw out his right arm. Into the face of the Hibs
:44:55. > :45:02.defender and his matches over. Back it comes from Nelson. That is Danny
:45:03. > :45:06.Wilson. That was a great spike. Really good goal in stoppage time at
:45:07. > :45:10.the end of the match from El Alagui. And he scored but that earlier
:45:11. > :45:17.header, this could be very interesting. As it is, the former
:45:18. > :45:22.Falkirk striker scorers for 2-1. That was more jittery than it was
:45:23. > :45:31.for Craig Levine, the Director of Football. Hearts looking to soak up
:45:32. > :45:38.some time. Did Stevenson stamp on Walker? That was an angry reaction.
:45:39. > :45:40.I thought it was very tight and competitive and there were lots of
:45:41. > :45:48.tackles. The majority of it was very tense
:45:49. > :45:53.and it was a full house and a bigger atmosphere and a lot of pressure on
:45:54. > :45:58.both teams. Once again dies down after 67 minutes, we had players
:45:59. > :46:03.that could cause problems and Sam showed that, he has great technique
:46:04. > :46:08.and ability. He can produce things like that. I did not think there was
:46:09. > :46:14.an awful lot in the game, I thought we were controlling that. I did not
:46:15. > :46:22.think they were hurting us at times. We have probably a bit of discipline
:46:23. > :46:28.that has cost us. The penalties, but was obviously a penalty, that was a
:46:29. > :46:33.good strike but it is disappointing. It really is. Great result for
:46:34. > :46:37.Hearts, that was a scrappy game, packed full of controversial
:46:38. > :46:42.incidents. And Jack Hamilton, the third choice keeper, thrust into the
:46:43. > :46:49.controversy right away. Was that a penalty? It is interesting. It looks
:46:50. > :46:54.to me like he gets the touch, here. But second decision for the referee
:46:55. > :46:59.but I think he gets the touch on that. That was very harsh. I didn't
:47:00. > :47:03.expect the penalty to be given. He has dived really quickly but to be
:47:04. > :47:10.fair, I would not expect the penalty given. I think he was unlucky there.
:47:11. > :47:17.Let us look at the penalty. It was not his finest hour? It wasn't. A
:47:18. > :47:21.lot of players are looking ahead and not looking at the ball, he does not
:47:22. > :47:25.look at the ball at any point. And the reason they are doing that is
:47:26. > :47:29.because they do that keepers can move along the line a lot so they
:47:30. > :47:32.are trying to wait for the keeper to move but you had better make sure
:47:33. > :47:38.you catch the ball right when you do that! And he got it wrong. But lots
:47:39. > :47:41.of other guys have got it wrong. It was slightly unfair on Hearts
:47:42. > :47:47.because it should not have been the penalty. Typical blustery Derby,
:47:48. > :47:53.crying out for a moment of magic and Sam Nicholson produced? Yes, it was
:47:54. > :47:57.not the best of games and it was crying out for that little bit of
:47:58. > :48:03.quality. The same here, he looks lively but just there, he finds that
:48:04. > :48:08.could of space. Lovely little nutmeg and that shows the confidence and
:48:09. > :48:16.the boy. That is a blind moment. Great goal. No, that was a fluke!
:48:17. > :48:22.No, that was brilliant. And this one, again. That has been bundled
:48:23. > :48:28.off the ball. We were chatting and I think it is a yellow card, to be
:48:29. > :48:34.honest. This is how you take a penalty kick. Really strong.
:48:35. > :48:38.Especially if you are one go up, it is easier for them, less pressure.
:48:39. > :48:43.That was definitely a penalty and the referee got that one right.
:48:44. > :48:49.Hearts held on for the victory and by the early favourites for the
:48:50. > :48:55.championship? It is still early doors. To call back. But a very
:48:56. > :49:02.impressive start, you could not get harder games, Ibrox and then the
:49:03. > :49:09.derby. It is fantastic for Neilson. Sow will be missed. Do you see
:49:10. > :49:13.Hearts as it was organised? Yes, good start, they look very strong.
:49:14. > :49:17.But there's a problem you have with Hearts and Hibs, a lot of dependency
:49:18. > :49:22.on one striker, both teams need another striker who will get if you
:49:23. > :49:27.goals for them. If they can do that, they can challenge Rangers. OK.
:49:28. > :49:29.It was a Friday football start in the Championship this weekend.
:49:30. > :49:31.Falkirk against Rangers at the Falkirk Stadium.
:49:32. > :49:44.Falkirk were twice behind against Cowdenbeath. The same again for the
:49:45. > :49:54.site. The former Rangers player has three goals in two games this
:49:55. > :50:08.season. Lee McCulloch moves into midfield. The skipper fancies us.
:50:09. > :50:13.Over the wall. Denied by Bell. Excellent goalkeeping but that was a
:50:14. > :50:23.very good play from Alex Cooper. Almost hit the corner. McCracken!
:50:24. > :50:28.That was a great save. Boyd was on the line to get that away. Falkirk
:50:29. > :50:36.twice close to the breakthrough. Great reaction from Kris Boyd. Cammy
:50:37. > :50:45.Bell went low, strong hand. He kept that scoresheet blank. Such a very
:50:46. > :50:55.long throw. They will have to get back. MacDonald showing good space.
:50:56. > :51:03.They will hold on. Looking for options. MacLeod is available. With
:51:04. > :51:10.the shot! The deflection and the breakthrough! Heartbreak for
:51:11. > :51:21.Falkirk, celebration from Lewis MacLeod, this might go down as
:51:22. > :51:24.uncle. -- as an own goal. No celebration from the Rangers in
:51:25. > :51:32.Britain. But he did bad shot. He will take the credit, although that
:51:33. > :51:47.is an own goal, for me. Falkirk frustrated. Clark has scored! Nikki
:51:48. > :51:56.Clarke gets his first of the season. Great play. It was on target, but
:51:57. > :52:03.Nicky Clarke had to make sure. He scores and will wrap things up for
:52:04. > :52:15.Rangers. It seemed unlikely. Just 20 minutes ago. That is Clark, he sets
:52:16. > :52:29.up McCulloch. Offside, but will not kind. -- that will not kind. He will
:52:30. > :52:31.be disappointed when he sees a flag. Clever work to send the ball back
:52:32. > :52:42.onto McCulloch. 2-0, it stays. Rangers getting the victory but
:52:43. > :52:51.Falkirk had chances? I suppose it was marking to a certain extent?
:52:52. > :52:56.Against a decent side Rangers, who will find you out? Go back if you
:52:57. > :53:02.yards, he does not go back and look at the space he leaves. He walks in
:53:03. > :53:06.front and you don't have a problem. If you do that against Rangers, they
:53:07. > :53:11.will punish you. Falkirk were slightly the better side but Rangers
:53:12. > :53:19.know how to grind it out. And they did. We do hear that phrase, there
:53:20. > :53:24.is so much criticism of the style that Rangers play at the moment.
:53:25. > :53:28.Even from their own fans. Do they need to solve that? To win the
:53:29. > :53:32.championship this season? What can they win it despite that? I think
:53:33. > :53:36.they will still win the championship. But it is always nice
:53:37. > :53:44.to play good foot while you are doing that. The fans are paying
:53:45. > :53:48.money, they want to be entertained. McCoist is delivering championship
:53:49. > :53:52.after championship so I am sure he will be happy. But it is nice to
:53:53. > :53:57.watch good football and the need to supply Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd. I
