:00:14. > :00:22.Good afternoon and welcome to the results show.

:00:23. > :00:24.Forget Shakespeare's anniversary - we've got

:00:25. > :00:25.all the drama you need, until

:00:26. > :00:28.Today's dramatis personnae are Scotland goalkeeper Gemma Fay -

:00:29. > :00:36.Keep it high brow folks - we're on BBC Two.

:00:37. > :00:39.First unto the breech dear friends is the Bard of Bellshill.

:00:40. > :00:41.That's Chris McLaughlin to you and me.

:00:42. > :00:43.He's at Fir Park watching Motherwell against Hearts in the Premiership.

:00:44. > :00:56.Good afternoon. Good afternoon. I have been called many things... 1-0

:00:57. > :01:01.to Motherwell. Ainsworth midway through the first half. It started

:01:02. > :01:09.like a midweek training match, low tempo. It sparked into life after

:01:10. > :01:12.that goal from Ainsworth. He rocketed a right foot shot low past

:01:13. > :01:25.Alexander in the goal. That started a kind of Hearts mini fightback. In

:01:26. > :01:32.the second Hearts had two charges chances. Motherwell should probably

:01:33. > :01:36.be out of sight by now. Hearts disappointing, especially given they

:01:37. > :01:44.are fighting for the second place from Aberdeen. At the moment it is

:01:45. > :01:51.1-0 to Motherwell. Now time to go to Firhill where Partick Thistle are

:01:52. > :01:55.hosting Dundee. It is 1-1. Very little at stake, both sides just

:01:56. > :02:00.missing out on the top six last time round. They are effectively fighting

:02:01. > :02:05.for seventh place, but making a good fist of putting an entertaining

:02:06. > :02:10.match on. Dundee took first blood, Hemmings with his 24th goal of the

:02:11. > :02:14.season. A predatory finish from him as he tapped in from Paul McGinn's

:02:15. > :02:24.cross. Partick Thistle in the last few moments have drawn level. The

:02:25. > :02:29.10th goal of the season for Doolan. A corner into the boxes cleared

:02:30. > :02:32.away. A very even contest, as you would expect, from two side

:02:33. > :02:38.separated only by goal difference going into this match. Hibs are way

:02:39. > :02:45.to Morton this afternoon. Hibs still chasing second spot. A huge amount

:02:46. > :02:50.to play for for Hibs this afternoon. But it has been a bit lacklustre

:02:51. > :02:53.from Alan Stubbs's side. A lot has been said about the energy drinks

:02:54. > :03:01.they have been drinking, but they have been lacking in energy this

:03:02. > :03:11.afternoon. McGinn Has been left on the bench, struggling with a back

:03:12. > :03:17.problem. But the game has been flat. The best chance has come to Morton.

:03:18. > :03:22.A shot of the post, through the legs of the goalkeeper. Hibs's best

:03:23. > :03:27.chance fell to Stokes, a looping effort over the bar. Hibs struggling

:03:28. > :03:31.to get going. If they can't get three points, what the Blues that

:03:32. > :03:35.would be to Falkirk and play Raith Rovers later afternoon. Now

:03:36. > :03:42.Dumbarton, at home to St Mirren this afternoon. 68 minutes gone here.

:03:43. > :03:48.This game delayed by ten minutes at the start because of traffic outside

:03:49. > :03:51.the ground. Dumbarton are leading to live in one. Dumbarton will preserve

:03:52. > :03:55.their championship status if they win and Livingston drop points at

:03:56. > :03:58.Queen at the South, which I believe they are doing at the moment.

:03:59. > :04:02.Looking good for Dumbarton at the moment. It wasn't looking good after

:04:03. > :04:08.ten minutes when Gallagher put them ahead. A lovely volley into the far

:04:09. > :04:11.corner of the net. St Mirren were looking good and it looks like they

:04:12. > :04:16.would have a half-time lead but just before the break an own goal by

:04:17. > :04:20.Keith Watson. The Dumbarton left-back crossed from the left and

:04:21. > :04:25.Watson turned into his own net to make it 1-1 at half-time. Straight

:04:26. > :04:33.after the break, both sides hit the woodwork. St Mirren also hit the

:04:34. > :04:37.bar. Fleming when one better on 54-minute scum and lovely half

:04:38. > :04:42.volley into the top left-hand corner from about 20 yards has put them in

:04:43. > :04:48.front. Looking good for their survival hopes. It is, Livingston

:04:49. > :04:53.trailing 2-1 away to Queen of the South. That would be a significant

:04:54. > :04:56.day's work for Dumbarton. Absolutely, they have done well this

:04:57. > :05:01.season. One thing Steve Aitken did with bring players to the club with

:05:02. > :05:03.experience. That has maybe paid off over this campaign. I have seen

:05:04. > :05:07.Livingston a few times in recent weeks and they have picked up as

:05:08. > :05:10.well. They have played some good football. I would think they would

:05:11. > :05:15.fancy themselves in a play-off position to stay up. That would be a

:05:16. > :05:18.great achievement. Gemma, Jonathan saying much has been made of Hibs

:05:19. > :05:23.and the energy drinks they have taken. It doesn't seem to be working

:05:24. > :05:28.today and they need a win. They do, but they have come off two massive

:05:29. > :05:32.games. The semifinal to go to the Scottish Cup final and beating

:05:33. > :05:36.Rangers midweek. They don't have a huge squad at Hibs. They need to try

:05:37. > :05:40.get those players through that game and get the point if they can.

:05:41. > :05:44.Because you're looking at the game later on, Falkirk, who are seven

:05:45. > :05:47.goals ahead. If they drop points here, they have to try and pick up

:05:48. > :05:52.some of those goals somewhere in the next two matches, which will be

:05:53. > :05:59.difficult. Back to the Premiership. Chris saying a mediocre, low tempo

:06:00. > :06:04.between Motherwell and Hearts. Is that how it is panning out? Not much

:06:05. > :06:07.at stake? I would say that is probably a pretty fair

:06:08. > :06:10.representation. From the bits and pieces we have seen it in here, a

:06:11. > :06:14.bit surprising Motherwell are not further ahead. They have had the

:06:15. > :06:18.better chances. Hearts don't seem to have the cutting edge and have

:06:19. > :06:22.looked a little shaky at the back. Scott McDonald missed a good chance.

:06:23. > :06:30.To show the journey Motherwell have come on in recent times, the last

:06:31. > :06:34.time these two met, Hearts won 6-0. What a difference a few weeks make,

:06:35. > :06:38.now vying for fourth. Hearts have qualified for Europe. That show use

:06:39. > :06:42.you the journey Motherwell have had. They have made the biggest leap in

:06:43. > :06:47.the last few weeks and Gainsborough wards. That is the top six. Now the

:06:48. > :06:55.bottom six, Partick Thistle against Dundee. A goal for Dundee, and

:06:56. > :07:00.another one for Hemmings. 21 in the league for him now for the striker.

:07:01. > :07:06.Beautifully set up, as he was for the first time, by Greg Stewart,

:07:07. > :07:11.playing on the right wing for Dundee this afternoon. He set him up with a

:07:12. > :07:14.pinpoint pass down the right flank. Hemmings was onto in a flash and

:07:15. > :07:20.kept cool to slide the ball under the body of the goalkeeper from the

:07:21. > :07:24.right-hand side of the penalty area. Looking good for Dundee in that

:07:25. > :07:28.battle for seventh place. Looking good for Livingston, as you can see

:07:29. > :07:32.on your screen, they are -- not looking good for Livingston. They

:07:33. > :07:39.are 3-1 down. Party time for Rangers at Ibrox this afternoon. Not even

:07:40. > :07:48.the football could spoil it. Six days after beating their archrivals

:07:49. > :07:51.Celtic to reach the semifinals, they were up against Alloa Athletic.

:07:52. > :07:57.Rangers behind to a goal from Duffy eight minutes in. James Tavernier

:07:58. > :08:00.scoring just before half-time. Andy Halliday, missing a penalty today,

:08:01. > :08:05.but they don't look too disappointed. No wonder, they were

:08:06. > :08:11.presented with the championship trophy post match. Richard, the

:08:12. > :08:14.party beginning with a whimper rather than a bang with the

:08:15. > :08:22.performance but it doesn't really matter? It doesn't because they had

:08:23. > :08:26.a run of three big games. They won the league and beat Celtic in the

:08:27. > :08:30.Scottish Cup semifinals. Maybe a bit of a dip after that. But I think the

:08:31. > :08:33.Rangers players need to be careful, they have a Scottish Cup final at

:08:34. > :08:36.the end of the season. There is a gap between the end of the

:08:37. > :08:40.championship and that game. They have to keep a competitive system

:08:41. > :08:44.going and their form, as well as their fitness. They cannot

:08:45. > :08:49.completely drop off. -- keep their competitiveness going. I watch the

:08:50. > :08:52.game and it was in keeping with Rangers's performance this season, a

:08:53. > :08:58.lot of possession, keeping the ball but they don't play Pennetta of

:08:59. > :09:02.passes. Today was about the game, it was about separating the title. I

:09:03. > :09:06.think the Rangers fans, celebrating the end of four years of exile from

:09:07. > :09:12.the top flight. That is what it was about. There were 50,000 at Ibrox.

:09:13. > :09:16.50,000 now. Mark Warburton getting praise from another Rangers legend,

:09:17. > :09:20.Graeme Souness today, saying he has done a fantastic job. No one can

:09:21. > :09:24.argue with that. I don't you can argue with that at all. He came to a

:09:25. > :09:29.club in disarray. If you look at the way in which Rangers failed to get

:09:30. > :09:32.promoted last year, and you look at that team today, there is such a

:09:33. > :09:36.difference, an absolute difference in the mindset of the team and the

:09:37. > :09:41.way in which they act at the club. I think it is a remarkable turnaround.

:09:42. > :09:48.He has done it in an unseemly way, gone in there and done his job.

:09:49. > :09:51.Rangers' archrivals Celtic took a step towards taking the title last

:09:52. > :10:00.night. St Johnstone doing the work for them, dishing out a 3-0 doing of

:10:01. > :10:06.Aberdeen at McDiarmid Park. It was another case of Aberdeen defending

:10:07. > :10:11.poorly. I think it was probably their worst display of the season.

:10:12. > :10:15.It is astounding for me, because this is a team that still had a

:10:16. > :10:19.chance to win the league. You would expect the opposite of what they

:10:20. > :10:22.showed. Every time the ball came into the box it looked like St

:10:23. > :10:26.Johnstone had scored. Here, a classic goalkeeper move, I've come

:10:27. > :10:30.out and I know I am not getting this, I will show and hope I get

:10:31. > :10:38.something. And he did. You haven't done that... I have, on the move. I

:10:39. > :10:42.think they lacked any sort of desire, even if you are having a bad

:10:43. > :10:47.game you dig deep and find something. I think every time Celtic

:10:48. > :10:52.have given Aberdeen and opportunity this year in the league, Aberdeen

:10:53. > :10:55.have failed to take it. Three losses in the last four and you cannot do

:10:56. > :11:02.that if you're trying to win the league. We can hear what both

:11:03. > :11:05.managers said after the match. I mean, a similar type of performance

:11:06. > :11:14.against up there the hearts game. It shows you what a good side we can

:11:15. > :11:21.be when we play like that. Tonight it we need -- we needed more

:11:22. > :11:26.strength of character, more physicality, because we got pushed

:11:27. > :11:29.about and the best team won. Interestingly for me I think that is

:11:30. > :11:33.the first time I have heard Derek McInnis mentioned the phrase

:11:34. > :11:39.strength of character in relation to Aberdeen? He made the point earlier

:11:40. > :11:42.in the season when fans and media were talking about Aberdeen lacking

:11:43. > :11:46.bottle for the title challenge, was very strongly making the point

:11:47. > :11:51.Aberdeen had won big games. He is almost going back on that today.

:11:52. > :11:55.They beat Celtic twice this season. They lost to hearts in the last game

:11:56. > :11:58.and he said that was a missed opportunity. What he meant was that

:11:59. > :12:02.was the missed opportunity to put pressure on Celtic ahead of the Old

:12:03. > :12:06.Firm game, to see what would happen to Celtic at that time. Aberdeen

:12:07. > :12:10.have missed a chance. If there is one thing we have learned about

:12:11. > :12:13.Aberdeen this season, they have a good starting line-up, good players,

:12:14. > :12:17.but I don't think they have the strength and depth to really push...

:12:18. > :12:22.The defence is not strong enough and I don't think they have enough

:12:23. > :12:25.options in midfield. There is work for Aberdeen to do despite the

:12:26. > :12:30.progress they have made. We are pushing onto the big football story

:12:31. > :12:33.of the week. The demise of Ronny Deila as Celtic manager,

:12:34. > :12:37.metaphorically falling on his sword on Tuesday. But the knives had been

:12:38. > :12:43.out for him for some time. We can see him in happier times, the start

:12:44. > :12:47.of his tenure, his brief two-year tenure at Celtic in the Celtic Park

:12:48. > :12:55.sunshine. I think when he came in a lot was made of his background, the

:12:56. > :12:58.fact he was a coach, about developing players and making them

:12:59. > :13:03.better and he fitted Celtic's philosophy, which I think he did.

:13:04. > :13:07.But he was inexperienced and it was a bit of a gamble. I think everybody

:13:08. > :13:12.realise that. He had a good season, won a couple of domestic trophies,

:13:13. > :13:16.did OK in Europe. This season, a lack of progress, the team has gone

:13:17. > :13:20.back and even individuals... If he was making Celtic players better he

:13:21. > :13:24.might have got another shot at The players have gone back, he that he

:13:25. > :13:27.must combat any has not delivered what he said he would. It was

:13:28. > :13:33.inevitable this decision would be made. I have been quoting

:13:34. > :13:37.Shakespeare today. To quote Ronny Deila he said it was a lack of

:13:38. > :13:41.improvement which killed him inside. It was obviously weighing on him,

:13:42. > :13:45.the performances. He used to play for Celtic and I have met him a few

:13:46. > :13:49.times, he is a stickler for his own standards. He will be feeling this

:13:50. > :13:53.and hurting, not having made the difference he thought he could make

:13:54. > :13:57.at that club. The fact is, Rangers have been out of that division four

:13:58. > :14:01.years and Celtic should be in a position where if Celtic came up --

:14:02. > :14:05.Rangers came up next year, they couldn't touch them. I think they

:14:06. > :14:11.will go on and win it this year, but it is not enough for Celtic. Rangers

:14:12. > :14:20.got them last week, was this the straw that broke the camel's back?

:14:21. > :14:25.As far as Ronny Deila was concerned? I think he was going anyway, the

:14:26. > :14:29.result and the manner of the game, Rangers boss them in the early part,

:14:30. > :14:34.I think that brought the decision forward. But I think it was already

:14:35. > :14:37.made. I think Ronny Deila, the way Celtic performed in Europe this

:14:38. > :14:41.season, the lack of progress of the team, I think the board were already

:14:42. > :14:45.of that mindset. I think the fact they lost this game, it put pressure

:14:46. > :14:48.on. The fans are angry because of the outcome. Pressure on the board

:14:49. > :14:52.and the manager. In some respects I think he did the right thing. He

:14:53. > :14:56.said, I'm going but there are these games left, we want to win a fifth

:14:57. > :15:00.title. I want to leave on a high. The fans will get behind the team

:15:01. > :15:05.now. It is a calculated risk announcing it now but I think it was

:15:06. > :15:11.the right thing to do. That's Celtic performance, it was flat. They

:15:12. > :15:14.couldn't match Rangers the tempo and intensity, pressure on the ball and

:15:15. > :15:18.I think all those things but matters to a head.

:15:19. > :15:24.Let's talk about who will succeed Ronny Deila, the name of David Moyes

:15:25. > :15:29.has been conjured up in these discussions among fans and the

:15:30. > :15:33.media. Gemma, is he the man for the job, or is he the type of man for

:15:34. > :15:37.the job? Will he take it if he's offered it? I don't know is the only

:15:38. > :15:44.answer I can give. David Moyes has come off the back of two clubs where

:15:45. > :15:52.he has been a bit burnt. I know that he could go in there and improve

:15:53. > :15:54.players. I look at Rangers and Mark Warburton who has gone in there and

:15:55. > :15:59.he's done a fantastic job and that's almost the kind of manager serve the

:16:00. > :16:03.needs who is big enough to deal with the club and also strong enough on

:16:04. > :16:09.how he will develop players but I cannot put a name on who that player

:16:10. > :16:14.is at the moment. Celtic fans want a big-name. I think the board would

:16:15. > :16:18.like a big-name because they want to sell season-ticket sales, season

:16:19. > :16:22.ticket sales have not been good enough somewhere between 30

:16:23. > :16:26.5000-40,000 is not enough, they want somebody to bring fans back to the

:16:27. > :16:32.club. It is a huge job to do at Celtic and Gemma touched on the fact

:16:33. > :16:37.Celtic have been out of the league for -- Rangers have been out of the

:16:38. > :16:41.league for four years. Charlie Mulgrew is out of contract in the

:16:42. > :16:44.summer so the squad has got to be cut but new players will have to

:16:45. > :16:49.come in. There is a huge amount of work to be done at Celtic in a short

:16:50. > :16:53.amount of time. And whether it is has to have a big enough personality

:16:54. > :16:54.for the job but be good enough to make swift decisions on players and

:16:55. > :17:02.be good enough in recruitment to bring replacements in. That might

:17:03. > :17:07.appeal to somebody like David Moyes whose best work is done building a

:17:08. > :17:10.team over a period of time. Use say building a team over a period of

:17:11. > :17:17.time. Celtic don't have the luxury of time. -- you say. Rangers back

:17:18. > :17:21.next season. Not with the Champions League qualifiers coming up.

:17:22. > :17:25.Celtic's wage bill will be around double what it is at the moment,

:17:26. > :17:29.Rangers will add to their wage bill, Celtic have great resources, they

:17:30. > :17:32.have good players, that Celtic team should win the league more

:17:33. > :17:36.comfortable with and it is and it is underperforming. When I say there is

:17:37. > :17:39.work to be done it is in making that's got better and getting better

:17:40. > :17:45.value from the wage bill but they are significantly further ahead than

:17:46. > :17:49.any of the other teams in Scotland. Celtic compiling a list of potential

:17:50. > :17:52.candidates, the pitch has cleared with the Euro is coming up because

:17:53. > :17:55.potential candidates like Michael O'Neill and Roy Keane will be on

:17:56. > :18:00.duty with Northern Ireland and Ireland, will that diminish their

:18:01. > :18:03.chances of taking over? I'm not sure it will diminish the chances come of

:18:04. > :18:06.the Celtic board will take their time and think about, as you said,

:18:07. > :18:11.who we need in this position and what exactly we need them to do. And

:18:12. > :18:16.of those guys, the people at the Euros taking teams, and they think

:18:17. > :18:20.that's the right candidate answer sure they would wait as was done

:18:21. > :18:24.with Louis van Gaal when he went to Man United when he was still at the

:18:25. > :18:28.Netherlands. I think there is a great point there, there are so many

:18:29. > :18:32.players at that club, Kazim-Richards, Carlton Cole, to

:18:33. > :18:38.name but a few, on money, brought in for big-money there have not given

:18:39. > :18:42.anything to the club, and they need to look at that. Is a cultural

:18:43. > :18:47.change needed in terms of Ronny Deila, very much as a head coach,

:18:48. > :18:51.would you agree? And they perhaps need old-style manager, a strong

:18:52. > :18:55.character? I'm not sure about that, they need to refocus their

:18:56. > :18:58.recruitment strategy. Celtic's best work in that department was done

:18:59. > :19:01.when bringing in players from abroad who were young and undervalued at

:19:02. > :19:06.the potential to be developed and sold on. There was a lot of them.

:19:07. > :19:09.You have to do that but they've lost sight of that strategy because they

:19:10. > :19:13.have guys on loan from Man City and the names Gemma mentioned, they are

:19:14. > :19:17.basically and they've taught a number of young Scottish players

:19:18. > :19:20.like Scott Allan and Alan Christie. They have to decide what they are

:19:21. > :19:25.doing. Is it these guys they are signing? The people from abroad?

:19:26. > :19:29.What is the focus of the recruitment strategy not that it has to be a

:19:30. > :19:32.manager but they have to be more clear-headed and have somebody who

:19:33. > :19:37.can develop players because overall Celtic's strategy is sound. They

:19:38. > :19:40.don't have the money to buy ready-made Champions League players,

:19:41. > :19:43.they have to develop them themselves so whoever comes in must be a good

:19:44. > :19:47.coach. More on Celtic later as we look ahead to their match against

:19:48. > :19:51.Ross County but the full-time scores are trickling in from today's

:19:52. > :19:55.matches so we will bounce around the grounds starting at Firhill where it

:19:56. > :19:59.is full-time, Partick Thistle- Dundee.

:20:00. > :20:03.Dundee continue their dominance of this fixture with a third victory of

:20:04. > :20:06.the season at Firhill, the team separated only by goal difference

:20:07. > :20:09.before the match, and that was reflected in the closeness of the

:20:10. > :20:14.contest. The difference was the presence of a proven matchwinner in

:20:15. > :20:18.the visiting ranks, Hemmings's 24th and 25th goals of the season

:20:19. > :20:23.rendering Kris Doolan's effort in between pretty much meaningless, his

:20:24. > :20:27.first goal came against the run of play. Hemmings dashed into the box

:20:28. > :20:32.to get on the end of Paul McGinn's cross, and that gave Dundee a

:20:33. > :20:36.half-time lead but it was cancelled out when Doolin scored his 10th goal

:20:37. > :20:41.of the season, his header on the end of a cross, even Partick Thistle I

:20:42. > :20:48.hope of coming from behind and winning the match, but it wasn't to

:20:49. > :20:53.be. Hemmings came onto the end of a Greg Stewart pass and gleefully

:20:54. > :20:56.tucked the ball below Ryan Scully to give Dundee all three points and

:20:57. > :21:00.move three points clear in the battle for seventh place. It

:21:01. > :21:04.finished 2-1 Dundee. It is all over at Fir Park where

:21:05. > :21:09.Motherwell were at home to Hearts. It is a win for the Steelmen, 1-0

:21:10. > :21:12.deserved in a match when Hearts huffed and puffed but produced

:21:13. > :21:16.little, Lionel Ainsworth with the goal midway through the first half,

:21:17. > :21:20.Scott McDonald twisting and turning on the edge of the box before laying

:21:21. > :21:24.off to his fellow forward who rocketed the ball low right footed

:21:25. > :21:27.past Neil Alexander which sparked something of a Hearts comeback

:21:28. > :21:31.temporarily but they struggled to find a way through a sturdy

:21:32. > :21:37.Motherwell defence. In the second half it was all Motherwell, two

:21:38. > :21:41.great chances, one of the post and Scott McDonald blasted over the bar

:21:42. > :21:45.when he should have burst the net. The game really opened up after

:21:46. > :21:48.that, Juanma had a good chance well blocked and at the other end Marvin

:21:49. > :21:53.Johnson forced a save with a long-range effort forced up seven

:21:54. > :21:57.wins in 94 Mark McGhee's Motherwell but defeats for Hearts that you

:21:58. > :22:01.would think all but kills off their push for second spot. Full-time

:22:02. > :22:07.Motherwell 1-0 Hearts. Into the Championship, once again, to

:22:08. > :22:17.Greenock, Morton against Hibs has finished. Let's hear from Jonathan.

:22:18. > :22:21.It has finished 0-0 at Cappielow. They didn't deserve three points

:22:22. > :22:25.this afternoon, in fact, Morton had the best chance of the match midway

:22:26. > :22:30.through the second half, the left-winger firing a shot through

:22:31. > :22:34.the legs of the keeper Mark Oxley and it rebounded off the post and

:22:35. > :22:37.hence scrambled to safety. That was the best chance in the game,

:22:38. > :22:41.lacklustre performance from Hibs, they looked lately and tired after

:22:42. > :22:47.their exertions against the United in the Scottish Cup last week, the

:22:48. > :22:56.match against Rangers. We thought it might put a strut on the step but

:22:57. > :23:05.they looked tired. A lot was made -- made of the energy drinks introduced

:23:06. > :23:08.by Alan Stubbs. They tried to add impetus in the second half but it

:23:09. > :23:15.wouldn't come. The best chances coming from Anthony Stokes, looping

:23:16. > :23:20.shot well saved by Derek Gaston. Another chance was ruled out for

:23:21. > :23:23.offside. Morton looked solid until the end. This result will give

:23:24. > :23:27.Falkirk who play later this afternoon a huge boost as they try

:23:28. > :23:31.and clinch second place. Sandra Brown was watching Queen of

:23:32. > :23:37.the South at home to Livingston. Queen of the South 3-1 Livingston

:23:38. > :23:39.and three second-half goals for what turned out to be a comfortable win

:23:40. > :23:44.over allegation threatened Livingston. Queen of the South

:23:45. > :23:48.dominated the first 45 but couldn't make it count and found themselves

:23:49. > :23:54.behind after the break after Sam Stanton scored after Jordan White's

:23:55. > :23:56.knock-down put them ahead. Into the second half Queen of the South

:23:57. > :24:01.continue to command and pulled level on the hour mark through Derek

:24:02. > :24:04.Lyle's converted penalty, the veteran striker scored his and Queen

:24:05. > :24:10.of the South's second of the afternoon ten minutes later, header

:24:11. > :24:13.from a corner, ten minutes from time 25 yard effort came back off the

:24:14. > :24:16.crossbar, the clearance found the pink boots of Gary Oliver who

:24:17. > :24:21.slotted the ball home. In the final five minutes Queen of the South were

:24:22. > :24:25.reduced to ten men after Lewis Kidd was sent off and Wilson hit the

:24:26. > :24:31.crossbar again. The final game of the season here finished 3-1.

:24:32. > :24:34.That means if Dumbarton win at home to St Mirren this afternoon

:24:35. > :24:40.Livingston will face a play-off to remain in the championship. That

:24:41. > :24:46.game at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium is still going on. Let's get

:24:47. > :24:50.an update. It will be a huge few minutes for Dumbarton, currently

:24:51. > :24:53.leading 2-1, so as it stands they are safe but they have one minute of

:24:54. > :24:59.normal time and three or four minutes of added time to survive

:25:00. > :25:04.until their survival is secured. It is 2-1 Dumbarton. They were 1-0

:25:05. > :25:08.down, Gallagher put St Mirren ahead but an Watson goal and a wonderful

:25:09. > :25:14.second-half goal from Fleming has Dumbarton 2-1 up. There is still a

:25:15. > :25:18.Championship match to kick off this weekend tonight, and it features two

:25:19. > :25:22.teams who have already secured promotion play-off places. Raith

:25:23. > :25:29.Rovers and Falkirk. They are hoping to finish second in the division

:25:30. > :25:32.ahead of Hibs, Scott Davie is at Stark's Park and is standing by to

:25:33. > :25:36.set the scene. There's been a big boost for

:25:37. > :25:39.Falkirk's ambitions to finish second, the draw between the teams

:25:40. > :25:42.at Cappielow this afternoon means it realistically with their advantage

:25:43. > :25:46.on goal difference and managers always talk about mathematical

:25:47. > :25:49.certainties, they will really be looking for just four points from

:25:50. > :25:54.their final two fixtures to clinch second place, given Hibs' failure to

:25:55. > :25:58.win the game today. They could not have got a better position than

:25:59. > :26:02.Raith Rovers, Raith Rovers made five changes to the team that won at

:26:03. > :26:07.Dumbarton last week, just one defeat in their last 12, but their manager

:26:08. > :26:09.Ray McKinnon said he doesn't want to show his hand against potential

:26:10. > :26:14.opponents in the play-offs, which is why he's made wholesale changes to

:26:15. > :26:19.the starting line-up. Four cup with just one change, Alan Muir head

:26:20. > :26:24.suspended after being sent off last time out, coming into a fixture

:26:25. > :26:28.which has been pretty good down the years for Falkirk, losing just once

:26:29. > :26:30.in 13 league meetings between these clubs.

:26:31. > :26:35.Falkirk will be rubbing their hands, Raith Rovers have made wholesale

:26:36. > :26:39.changes, surprised, Gemma? Not really surprised, they've secured a

:26:40. > :26:42.play-off spot and it's properly quite a good move. If I am Falkirk

:26:43. > :26:46.in the dressing room I will have a smile on my face because I'm

:26:47. > :26:50.thinking four points, two wins and that is as their. If I may Hibs fan

:26:51. > :26:55.I'm pulling my hair out because Hibs have done this time and again this

:26:56. > :26:59.season, had an opportunity to take a step forward and it has Peter De

:27:00. > :27:05.Waele. They couldn't score today but in mid week they scored three times

:27:06. > :27:10.against Rangers -- repeated the way. They got to the final of the

:27:11. > :27:14.Scottish Cup however. It has been a curious season for Hibs and the

:27:15. > :27:17.curious week. This is Hibs all over, they took advantage of the Rangers

:27:18. > :27:21.team that was still feeling the effects mentally and physically of

:27:22. > :27:26.their game in the Scottish Cup semifinal at the weekend. Hibs are

:27:27. > :27:29.capable of playing nice football and scoring good goals. Where their

:27:30. > :27:33.season has flipped is I think there was a time earlier in the campaign

:27:34. > :27:36.when they were very sound at the back and they seem to have lost

:27:37. > :27:39.their way now and they have conceded goals they would not normally

:27:40. > :27:43.concede early in the season. They missed a chance today. The same

:27:44. > :27:46.thing happened to Hibs last season, they ran out of steam physically

:27:47. > :27:50.when they got to the play-offs, and it looks like the same thing could

:27:51. > :27:53.happen again. It is all very well talking about energy drinks and

:27:54. > :27:57.these things, and the players will recover properly, of course, at a

:27:58. > :28:01.run of games in a short period of time at the end of the season could

:28:02. > :28:05.end up ending the promotion hopes. Is it a big worry running out of

:28:06. > :28:10.energy, Jonathan talked about the energy drinks and we touched on it

:28:11. > :28:15.earlier. Do they concentrate on the Scottish Cup final now? Absolutely

:28:16. > :28:20.not. The Scottish Cup final is a bonus. They need to get out of that

:28:21. > :28:25.division, Hibs are a big club, a massive club, and they need to be in

:28:26. > :28:30.the Premier. I think Hibs supporters might prefer a Scottish Cup win. I

:28:31. > :28:34.don't think so, Hibs fans will want to go up. The board budgeted for two

:28:35. > :28:37.years in the Championship on the base is the first one had Hearts and

:28:38. > :28:39.Rangers in it, they've had the second season and if they don't go

:28:40. > :28:44.up how do they keep the team together? We are going to head back

:28:45. > :28:48.to Dumbarton, the game between them and St Mirren is over. What news do

:28:49. > :28:51.you have? Dumbarton will play championship

:28:52. > :28:56.football next season because they have preserved their place in the

:28:57. > :29:01.Scotland's second-tier, they have won 2-1 against St Mirren and the

:29:02. > :29:04.fans and players are on the pitch to celebrate, the second season in a

:29:05. > :29:08.row that Dumbarton have managed to stay in the second tier and they are

:29:09. > :29:12.delighted about it. The Shakespeare quote that comes to mind is the

:29:13. > :29:16.course of true love never did run smooth. That's because before the

:29:17. > :29:20.game I met a group of six Dumbarton fans who had travelled all the way

:29:21. > :29:23.from Zurich in Switzerland to see the match, that is true love but it

:29:24. > :29:28.didn't run smooth because St Mirren went 1-0 up through Calum Gallagher

:29:29. > :29:31.in the bottom corner, lovely half volley but then it started going

:29:32. > :29:34.Dumbarton's way soon after that because just before half-time gave

:29:35. > :29:40.Keith Watson own goal made it 1-1, and after the break in a brilliant

:29:41. > :29:44.fashion, a sublime volley by Garry Fleming into the top left corner has

:29:45. > :29:49.turned out to be the goal that kept Dumbarton up, even that Livingston

:29:50. > :29:51.lost to Queen of the South and the players are parading around the

:29:52. > :29:57.pitch at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium, clapping the fans,

:29:58. > :30:00.they will play in the Championship next season.

:30:01. > :30:03.Gemma, once again Scotland's top part-time club.

:30:04. > :30:08.And achievement and rightly so they should celebrate managing to

:30:09. > :30:14.maintain their place in the Championship, on the other hand, St

:30:15. > :30:17.Mirren... Let's not go there! It is another club that needs to figure

:30:18. > :30:21.out what it needs to be and how it will get there and the strategy, it

:30:22. > :30:25.wants to be in the top division but based on what has happened this

:30:26. > :30:28.season they need to do a wee bit of soul-searching. The next part of our

:30:29. > :30:34.strategy is to go to today's classified results round-up.

:30:35. > :30:37.I think all those things but matters to a head.

:30:38. > :30:44.We kick off with the Scottish Premiership. That match between St

:30:45. > :30:54.Johnstone and Aberdeen played last night. Three matches tomorrow.

:30:55. > :32:53.On Monday it is Tottenham Hotspur against West Bromwich Albion.

:32:54. > :34:08.League 1 should be coming our way shortly... It is. Worth waiting for.

:34:09. > :34:18.Let's have a look at the tables in the Scottish Premiership. St

:34:19. > :34:21.Johnstone sitting there in fourth. Motherwell should be forth now,

:34:22. > :34:29.shouldn't they? Motherwell up to fourth. Sam Johnstone dropping down

:34:30. > :34:33.to fifth. Dundee move on to 44 points with their win over Partick

:34:34. > :34:38.Thistle. Let's have a look at the championship. Rangers are the

:34:39. > :34:44.winners of the Scottish Championship and have been for some time. Alloa

:34:45. > :34:51.Athletic relegated. Livingston, who lost Queen of South, will face

:34:52. > :34:58.relegation play-off. In League 1, Dunfermline athletic

:34:59. > :35:06.the champions. Ayr United and Peterhead secure in their places.

:35:07. > :35:10.Stranraer still not over the line. At the bottom, Fofar Athletic have

:35:11. > :35:22.been relegated. East Fife the champions in League 2.

:35:23. > :35:25.Queens Park, Elgin City and Clyde still in the shout of edging into

:35:26. > :35:28.the play-off places. At the bottom, East Stirlingshire go into the

:35:29. > :35:37.pyramid play-offs. In the English Premier League, Man

:35:38. > :35:41.City the only team in the top four to have played this weekend, a big

:35:42. > :35:51.win for them, 4-0 against Stoke City. Aston Villa already relegated.

:35:52. > :35:55.It is tight elsewhere. Newcastle United and Sunderland on 30 points,

:35:56. > :36:00.Norwich City just a point outside the relegation zone on 31.

:36:01. > :36:08.And in the English Championship, that one has not updated either I am

:36:09. > :36:16.afraid. I wonder if the bottom half of the table has... Yes, it has.

:36:17. > :36:22.Three teams down, MK Dons, relegated today. Charlton Athletic, went down

:36:23. > :36:27.midweek. And Bolton Wanderers have been relegated for some time. One or

:36:28. > :36:32.two issues with the graphics, but I think we got there in the end. Let's

:36:33. > :36:40.stay with matters in England and get a match report from Manchester City

:36:41. > :36:45.against Stoke in the Premier League. Manchester City 4-0 against Stoke

:36:46. > :36:48.City. If Manuel Pellegrini had been asked for his ideal scenario in

:36:49. > :36:53.preparation for Real Madrid on Tuesday, they surely would have been

:36:54. > :36:58.it. A routine victory, a clean sheet and an opportunity to give his star

:36:59. > :37:05.men a rest. They started sluggishly and needed an opening goal. Fernando

:37:06. > :37:08.got it with a near post header. And a Sergio Aguero penalty did the

:37:09. > :37:14.rest. Stoke rallied briefly in the second half and maybe should have

:37:15. > :37:20.scored two. Joe Hart denied Marko Arnautovic. Up stepped Iheanacho

:37:21. > :37:24.with two smart finishes to finish off Stoke City and give Pellegrini

:37:25. > :37:30.the opportunity to take off Silva and Aguero. Stoke, 12 goals conceded

:37:31. > :37:34.in three matches and the season cannot end soon enough. Newcastle

:37:35. > :37:44.United's fight for survival took them to Liverpool today. Rafa

:37:45. > :37:47.Benitez returned to Anfield. Newcastle's first point away from

:37:48. > :37:53.home this year and they gained it from an almost hopeless position.

:37:54. > :37:57.They were 2-0 down and not in the game at half-time after two left

:37:58. > :38:01.foot strikes after from Daniel Sturridge and then Adam Lallana.

:38:02. > :38:06.Good news for England this summer. Benitez gave one of those famous

:38:07. > :38:10.Anfield half-time team talk and back came Newcastle. Mignolet let them

:38:11. > :38:15.back in, came for cross when he shouldn't have. Papiss Cisse into an

:38:16. > :38:19.empty net. Then Jack Colback with a volley in the penalty area. They

:38:20. > :38:24.applaud Rafa Benitez of the pitch, who waits to the home fans. They

:38:25. > :38:29.stormed back into the game. They could have won it at times,

:38:30. > :38:32.Newcastle. A huge point in their season. Liverpool will feel

:38:33. > :38:35.aggrieved they didn't have a penalty when Daniel Sturridge went down in

:38:36. > :38:43.the penalty area in the second half. It finishes honours even at 2-2.

:38:44. > :38:46.A point for Liverpool today. Let's concentrate on Liverpool's rivals

:38:47. > :38:52.Everton. A big game for them later tonight in the FA Cup against

:38:53. > :38:56.Manchester United. Could have implications, or am I stretching it,

:38:57. > :39:00.for what happens next for Celtic in their hunt for a new manager?

:39:01. > :39:06.Roberto Martinez could be on his way out if they lose, is that a fair

:39:07. > :39:11.point? It is a fair point. I think he might be on his way out even if

:39:12. > :39:15.they win the FA Cup. David Moyes question mark I am not sure David

:39:16. > :39:21.Moyes would go back there. Once you have been somewhere and had a good

:39:22. > :39:29.time, do you go back rest muck Neil Lennon, should he go back? He is

:39:30. > :39:33.desperate to. Can you top beating Barcelona?

:39:34. > :39:38.What would make it interesting if Roberto Martinez lost his job is if

:39:39. > :39:43.Everton went for some unlike Eddie Howe or someone like that. Then you

:39:44. > :39:48.get a moving off the deckchairs. I think David Moyes is holding on for

:39:49. > :39:51.something like that. He wants to see what opportunities become available

:39:52. > :39:55.in England for him before he decides what he wants to do. We believe

:39:56. > :39:59.Aston Villa are interested in him as well. He's waiting to see what

:40:00. > :40:03.happens this summer. It could have an impact that white. Let's look at

:40:04. > :40:07.the three matches to come tomorrow in the Premiership. Celtic against

:40:08. > :40:10.Ross County. What do you think the atmosphere will be like at Celtic

:40:11. > :40:15.Park? What kind of reception will Ronny Deila get? I think it was a

:40:16. > :40:19.smart move to make the announcement this week, take the pressure off. I

:40:20. > :40:23.think it would be muted if he hadn't made that announcement this week. I

:40:24. > :40:28.think the focus for everyone at Celtic, fans and of a run at the

:40:29. > :40:33.club, is getting over the line. Four points, five points to win. They are

:40:34. > :40:37.not far away. It is a fifth title in a row. That is significant for the

:40:38. > :40:42.club. I think there will be a good atmosphere. I don't think there will

:40:43. > :40:45.be a full house, nothing like it. Ross County shouldn't be

:40:46. > :40:49.discouraged, they are a hard-working side it will make it difficult for

:40:50. > :40:53.Celtic. At the other end of the table, Dundee United must win at

:40:54. > :41:00.home to Hamilton. Yes, must win. And the problem they've got, they have

:41:01. > :41:04.only won six out of 33 games. For them to think about catching

:41:05. > :41:08.Kilmarnock they have to go out there and win all their games. We thought

:41:09. > :41:12.we saw a bit of a mini revival from Dundee United, but even if you look

:41:13. > :41:17.back at the semifinal and the way Donaldson left the pitch, I think

:41:18. > :41:20.that sums up Dundee United in terms of infighting, the management, the

:41:21. > :41:25.board, the players. I'm not sure they will do it. Hamilton, they have

:41:26. > :41:29.to win as well. At the start of the season you tipped Hamilton to go

:41:30. > :41:35.down. I was ridiculing you say never happen. I tipped them... Partick

:41:36. > :41:39.Thistle to go down and Hamilton to be second bottom. That shows you

:41:40. > :41:43.what a mess of that. Hamilton have gone through this season pulling a

:41:44. > :41:47.victory out every so often to improve their circumstances. That is

:41:48. > :41:50.how they've managed to cling on to the third bottom spot. They have not

:41:51. > :41:54.had a good season. Not played as good as they have done in the last

:41:55. > :41:59.couple of seasons. A victory for them would just about secure them

:42:00. > :42:02.staying above the play-off zone. But you couldn't be certain. Even

:42:03. > :42:09.Dalmarnock have picked up. A great result against St Johnstone the

:42:10. > :42:12.other week. I think so. Kilmarnock, they have goals in the team but they
