:00:00. > :00:09.Hello, good evening and welcome to Sportscene.

:00:10. > :00:13.COMMENTATOR: Oh, it's unbelievable! Unbelievable!

:00:14. > :00:16.It's a spectacular opening goal in the derby.

:00:17. > :00:43.This is history! Highland history!

:00:44. > :00:50.There's nothing quite like the magic of Scottish Cup final day. For the

:00:51. > :00:55.first time ever, two teams from outside the top league are competing

:00:56. > :00:59.for the big prize. It is the 13th time in two seasons Rangers and Hibs

:01:00. > :01:03.have gone head-to-head. They know each other only too well.

:01:04. > :01:05.Left-footed from Rogic... Skies it!

:01:06. > :01:07.And Rangers are through to the Scottish Cup final!

:01:08. > :01:19.Alan Stubbs has guided Hibernian into the Scottish Cup final.

:01:20. > :01:21.It'll be an all-Championship Scottish Cup final

:01:22. > :01:29.# Baby, if you could, would you go back to the start?

:01:30. > :01:32.It's more Hampden heartache for Hibernian.

:01:33. > :01:37.# Take any fresh steps or watch it all fall apart again?

:01:38. > :01:46.# Play another song here, then you can leave

:01:47. > :01:55.# With your delicate wings, I used to weave

:01:56. > :01:59.# It could have been a wonderful year

:02:00. > :02:03.# Instead we might not make it to the end

:02:04. > :02:13.# You gave me magical, I gave you wonderful

:02:14. > :02:17.# Cut that invisible cord or I'll starve you

:02:18. > :02:22.# Let's make immeasurable moves to the left

:02:23. > :02:34.Rangers have pulled off the seemingly unthinkable.

:02:35. > :02:53.# Baby if you could would you go back to the start? #

:02:54. > :03:01.Will it be a trophy treble for Rangers? The Championship and the

:03:02. > :03:06.Challenge Cup are already theirs. It would add up to a horror hat-trick

:03:07. > :03:11.for Hibs, who have already missed out on promotion, the pain is still

:03:12. > :03:16.raw, and they lost at Hampden in the League Cup final. But maybe the

:03:17. > :03:19.black cloud over Leith will have a silver lining and they can get their

:03:20. > :03:25.hands on the elusive Scottish Cup after a wait of 114 years. The

:03:26. > :03:29.winners will play in Europe, at least Alan Stubbs's team is matched

:03:30. > :03:33.sharp. Rangers have not played a competitive game in three weeks.

:03:34. > :03:40.Does any of that matter on cup final day? We are about to find out.

:03:41. > :03:43.Taking centre stage, the world's oldest national football trophy.

:03:44. > :03:46.This is the 131st year it has been played for, and for a fifth

:03:47. > :03:52.successive season, whatever happens a different name will be etched into

:03:53. > :03:56.the special silverware. The 2016 Scottish Cup final is on the BBC and

:03:57. > :04:00.this is our studio line-up. # Light the fuse,

:04:01. > :04:43.gonna watch it blow Ronald de Boer, Pat Nevin and

:04:44. > :04:51.Michael Stewart. That took a bit of digging out, Michael. Is this the

:04:52. > :04:56.day for Hibs, is it the year for their Scottish Cup? We have a great

:04:57. > :05:01.chance. Plenty of games against Rangers to size them up and know

:05:02. > :05:05.what they are about. I had a weird feeling it would be their year, but

:05:06. > :05:10.having lost the semifinal in the play-offs, I am not sure now.

:05:11. > :05:16.Rangers are slight favourites but Hibs have a chance. Ronald, some

:05:17. > :05:22.happy memories of this shiny thing. Beating Celtic was special, 3-2.

:05:23. > :05:27.Winning the trophy is always great. Had you followed the Rangers journey

:05:28. > :05:32.back to the big-league? Of course. It's massive. I was therefore a

:05:33. > :05:38.great four years, despite injury problems. I had a great time.

:05:39. > :05:44.Rangers, still one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It is a shame that

:05:45. > :05:50.a club like that went so down, but it's great for Scottish football

:05:51. > :05:57.take their suffering to a new level? take their suffering to a new level?

:05:58. > :06:03.-- can the. They might have to, but the way it has happened has been

:06:04. > :06:07.incredible. Hibs have had a great season, Rangers were slightly

:06:08. > :06:11.better, winning the league. The pain of the late goals, just getting so

:06:12. > :06:15.close... Much more painful that way. The one thing about this

:06:16. > :06:21.competition, the semifinals were so exciting, fabulous games. This

:06:22. > :06:24.should be the same. Really exciting game. I think we have got two teams

:06:25. > :06:33.that want to play attacking football. Everything is in place.

:06:34. > :06:37.Could Hibs's desire be the thing? Rangers have achieved their

:06:38. > :06:40.objective of getting to the Premiership. Hibs desperately need

:06:41. > :06:44.something from the season. Sometimes that desperation can play against

:06:45. > :06:48.you, if you want it too much. You need to focus on the game and not

:06:49. > :06:52.get caught up in everything surrounding it. Yes, both teams'

:06:53. > :06:56.main objective was to get promoted and Rangers have done that. In a cup

:06:57. > :07:06.final you have to put that one side and focus on the game. I don't think

:07:07. > :07:08.it is a case of Hibs having more. Rangers are desperate to lift the

:07:09. > :07:12.trophy as well. Considering where Rangers have come from, it would be

:07:13. > :07:17.a really special season if it was the title, promotion, the Scottish

:07:18. > :07:24.Cup and Europe. Of course. They know that, they want to do it for the

:07:25. > :07:31.fans. It is great for next year. You are going full force into next

:07:32. > :07:37.season, so it would be perfect. The same of course, Hibs have a great

:07:38. > :07:39.team. It's going to be very even. Two hours of build-up, this is a

:07:40. > :07:42.sample of what is on the way. The football fairy tale that was

:07:43. > :07:44.East Kilbride. Just so delighted to

:07:45. > :07:47.be in the next round with Celtic. What a feeling.

:07:48. > :07:50.It really feels so good to say that. The Rangers climb

:07:51. > :07:55.back to the big-time. 25 years on, the memories

:07:56. > :07:58.of the family final. The main thing was that,

:07:59. > :08:02.in the final, if you lost, it was your brother that was going

:08:03. > :08:04.to win the cup. Who was the role model

:08:05. > :08:08.for the Hibs goalkeeper? Well, because of yourself,

:08:09. > :08:12.your penalty save in 1990. I remember watching it

:08:13. > :08:16.in my sitting room. What's it really like to play

:08:17. > :08:20.in this football showpiece? Thinking back, you didn't even

:08:21. > :08:25.realise until after Playing for Hibs is

:08:26. > :08:32.a boyhood dream come true. A club I've supported all my life.

:08:33. > :08:36.It was a real easy choice. Walked through the doors,

:08:37. > :08:38.signed on the dotted line and got my number,

:08:39. > :08:41.24, and that was me. Being Jason Cummings,

:08:42. > :08:44.by two who should know. He always seems to pop up and get

:08:45. > :08:49.the goals in the box. We look at the making

:08:50. > :08:51.of Mark Warburton. He's remembered fondly,

:08:52. > :08:54.but if you know Mark, he's going to be remember

:08:55. > :08:57.fondly wherever he goes. He's very good with people,

:08:58. > :08:59.having the ability to make And will the return of

:09:00. > :09:05.Anthony Stokes have a happy ending? I've enjoyed my time here, that's

:09:06. > :09:09.one of the reasons I came back - because I enjoyed the first

:09:10. > :09:24.spell I had for a season here. You will get a glimpse of the 1991

:09:25. > :09:28.version of Craig Paterson when we venture down the Motherwell memory

:09:29. > :09:35.lane, a court of a century on from the finest vinyl, the 2016 model is

:09:36. > :09:38.our match summariser. Craig and his Motherwell team-mates of the day

:09:39. > :09:45.have celebrated that quite a lot. Hopefully we will get something

:09:46. > :09:49.similar this afternoon. Rangers and Hibs, they have become familiar foes

:09:50. > :09:52.over the last couple of seasons. 12 times they have met, six wins

:09:53. > :09:59.apiece. On paper, not much between them. Very little between them, both

:10:00. > :10:03.more than capable of winning. Hibs dominated the league matches,

:10:04. > :10:08.Rangers came out on top in the knockout situations. Will it make a

:10:09. > :10:14.difference? Not a bit, it is about bringing your A game to Hampden

:10:15. > :10:20.Park. They have to bounce back, Hibs. Both sides know a place in

:10:21. > :10:24.Europe is up for grabs, it is a big game. Rangers have not played for a

:10:25. > :10:28.few weeks, the Championship season ended at the start of the month. We

:10:29. > :10:31.talked about this last year with Falkirk, before they played

:10:32. > :10:36.Inverness. Will it come into play, the fact they had been idle for so

:10:37. > :10:40.long? They will say they are fresher, if it goes to extra time

:10:41. > :10:43.they might have better legs. The adrenaline flowing through the

:10:44. > :10:47.players will take care of any problems in terms of fitness. It is

:10:48. > :10:52.down to who plays. They want to get the ball down and play. The midfield

:10:53. > :10:59.is the key, if you dominate there, you will win the cup. We were at

:11:00. > :11:02.Falkirk a week yesterday when Hibs' bid for promotion was ended. They

:11:03. > :11:08.lost the League Cup final here a couple of months ago. A bit of a

:11:09. > :11:11.downer. Talking about Rangers being idle, is the fact that Hibs have had

:11:12. > :11:16.such poor results going to come into play? They will be extra keen to get

:11:17. > :11:20.a result, having lost a cup final and the play-offs, you don't want a

:11:21. > :11:25.third disappointment. Hibs will be fired up, and they will have to be,

:11:26. > :11:30.because Rangers have won the Championship and the cup. If Hibs

:11:31. > :11:34.can win today, these players will go down as legends at Easter Road.

:11:35. > :11:39.Expecting any surprises in the starting line-up? Alan Stubbs likes

:11:40. > :11:46.to play three centre-backs against Rangers and has had good results. It

:11:47. > :11:51.means Stevenson and Gray can get forward and confront Wallace and

:11:52. > :11:57.Tavernier. I know how Rangers are going to line-up. The sun has come

:11:58. > :11:59.out. Some competition this season as usual. I wonder if there will be

:12:00. > :12:07.more magic moments this afternoon. # Roll up, roll up, roll up

:12:08. > :12:11.for satisfaction # Everybody wants,

:12:12. > :12:13.everyboy needs # So get up, get up, get up

:12:14. > :12:16.to get some action # It's the ticket

:12:17. > :12:20.you've been waiting for # Roll up, roll up, roll up

:12:21. > :12:26.for satisfaction # Everybody wants,

:12:27. > :12:29.everyboy needs # So get up, get up, get up

:12:30. > :12:32.to get some action # It's the ticket

:12:33. > :12:38.you've been waiting for # Cos everybody wants,

:12:39. > :12:58.everybody wants When you think of the magic of the

:12:59. > :13:04.Scottish Cup this season, two words pretty quickly come to mind, East

:13:05. > :13:08.and Kilbride. Their meeting with Celtic was a moment for all cup

:13:09. > :13:10.romantics to savour. Kenny was with them every step of the way. He

:13:11. > :13:16.organised a little reunion. Has there ever been such

:13:17. > :13:21.a lopsided match-up? When you entered the Scottish Cup,

:13:22. > :13:24.was there anything right at the beginning where you thought,

:13:25. > :13:26.we're going to have We were nearly going

:13:27. > :13:31.out, weren't we? We were nearly going out

:13:32. > :13:35.when we played Forres Mechanics. Khutsishvili!

:13:36. > :13:43.The Highlanders are in front. This tie will be decided

:13:44. > :13:51.in the Highlands. I actually owed a wee bit

:13:52. > :13:58.to the gaffer, to be honest. It is a second

:13:59. > :14:05.for Craig Hastings! We were writ off before the game

:14:06. > :14:08.even started. And then I think that's when our

:14:09. > :14:12.name got out a wee bit. How does it feel

:14:13. > :14:15.to be in the third round now? If we get through, you never know,

:14:16. > :14:20.we might get Celtic or Rangers. We had a point to prove and it

:14:21. > :14:23.showed, because that was our best The way we played,

:14:24. > :14:32.we were keeping the ball for fun. I think Stenhousemuir were

:14:33. > :14:35.absolutely stunned. The little team from the lower

:14:36. > :14:40.leagues are two goals up! Jason Scotland gives his

:14:41. > :14:44.side a lifeline. And they get the equaliser,

:14:45. > :14:49.and then the final whistle went. We went into the dressing room

:14:50. > :14:52.and there was utter silence, We'll left our heads and get

:14:53. > :14:57.prepared again on Monday You could really say

:14:58. > :15:04.it's just half-time. And it is the perfect

:15:05. > :15:08.start for Kilby! That will settle it.

:15:09. > :15:21.This cup run is not stopping here. That's probably the best draw

:15:22. > :15:30.we could've actually got. First game got called off,

:15:31. > :15:33.there was snow up at K-Park. Which meant that the draw came out

:15:34. > :15:42.for the fifth round before you'd finished against Lothian

:15:43. > :15:43.Thistle Hutchison Vale. I was watching it with my mum. My

:15:44. > :15:50.mum predicted it would be Celtic. Right enough, Celtic came out and

:15:51. > :15:56.she just ran about the living room, screaming, and then my phone was

:15:57. > :15:59.just red hot. We had this big hurdle in front

:16:00. > :16:08.of us, in Lothian Thistle. A couple of attacks, one especially

:16:09. > :16:12.they should have scored. That settled us down.

:16:13. > :16:24.That settled the boys down. I just stayed on the keeper

:16:25. > :16:28.every corner and set piece. Luckily for me, he dropped one.

:16:29. > :16:33.It just landed right beside me. Couldn't believe my luck!

:16:34. > :16:37.Just a wee toe-poke in. Just so delighted to

:16:38. > :16:40.be in the next round with Celtic. What a feeling.

:16:41. > :16:50.It really feels so good to say that. I don't care who was in that green

:16:51. > :16:56.and white jersey next door. Knock at the door, and the boy hands

:16:57. > :16:58.in the team line-up. And I threw it onto the table.

:16:59. > :17:01.Not interested. And I'm looking right

:17:02. > :17:06.into their eyes. The sweat's going down

:17:07. > :17:13.my legs when I looked! Celtic's playing

:17:14. > :17:16.their strongest team. A chilly afternoon here

:17:17. > :17:19.in Airdrie for what is I'm out in the technical area,

:17:20. > :17:26.and I remember shouting, And we're knocking the ball,

:17:27. > :17:31.and making Celtic... Small moments of chasing.

:17:32. > :17:40.I was swelling with pride. Oh, it hasn't been

:17:41. > :17:42.cleared off the line! It's forced home!

:17:43. > :17:54.Kazim-Richards claims. It's a dream come true for me

:17:55. > :17:59.to play against my boyhood heroes. Fingers crossed, if I'm here next

:18:00. > :18:25.season, we can do it again. Barry Russell has not been parted

:18:26. > :18:29.from that Celtic jersey since then! Back here at Hampden Park, the

:18:30. > :18:34.playing surface could not be looking in much better shape. The final

:18:35. > :18:37.preparations have been made. The surface was not good when Rangers

:18:38. > :18:43.won the challenge cup here, it has been relayed since. I was down on

:18:44. > :18:47.the pitch at the start, it looks in great shape, that will not be an

:18:48. > :18:51.excuse. Rangers have already hit the target with their main objective for

:18:52. > :18:54.the season achieved, a third promotion in four Seasons has them

:18:55. > :18:58.back in the top tier. The journey is complete.

:18:59. > :19:00.Rangers, one of the giants of world football, have been consigned

:19:01. > :19:04.to life among the minnows of the Scottish game.

:19:05. > :19:07.I was away on holiday and I still couldn't believe it.

:19:08. > :19:11.At first, it was a wee bit of a shock, to be honest.

:19:12. > :19:14.The Scottish Football League's only acceptable position will be to place

:19:15. > :19:20.The last five pages of the paper was all about Rangers and how things

:19:21. > :19:23.Nothing seemed to be beyond the realms of possibility.

:19:24. > :19:28.From the outset, we made it clear we would play

:19:29. > :19:33.The majority of the people, certainly the supporters, went,

:19:34. > :19:35.right, that's our medicine, we have to take it.

:19:36. > :19:39.We've been put down there, we have to get on with it.

:19:40. > :19:42.It felt quite historic, Rangers arriving in these places.

:19:43. > :19:48.It was a big deal for these towns to host Rangers.

:19:49. > :19:50.Even though playing at a lesser level, and obviously not

:19:51. > :19:52.against the top players, you are still playing

:19:53. > :19:55.As a player, that's what you want as well.

:19:56. > :19:59.It did become a recurring theme that they stumbled a few times.

:20:00. > :20:02.They did lose at Stirling Albion when Stirling were bottom

:20:03. > :20:05.of the league, they beat Rangers 1-0.

:20:06. > :20:07.The Stirling Albion manager was away, he took the day

:20:08. > :20:13.A season of unfamiliar opponents, but a familiar result.

:20:14. > :20:19.Ultimately, we've still won the league.

:20:20. > :20:25.The feeling that they had kind of clicked,

:20:26. > :20:30.The football wasn't always particularly pretty.

:20:31. > :20:34.They went through the whole league season unbeaten.

:20:35. > :20:37.Some of these lower division pitches aren't the best,

:20:38. > :20:41.So at times it wasn't pretty football at all.

:20:42. > :20:43.We knew that and I'm sure everyone watching knew that as well.

:20:44. > :20:46.Just getting through the games, game management almost.

:20:47. > :20:54.That first Championship season for Rangers, they were totally

:20:55. > :20:59.Rangers were strong favourites to win the division and keep

:21:00. > :21:03.this kind of momentum of annual league wins.

:21:04. > :21:06.Hearts set a ferocious pace at the start of the season.

:21:07. > :21:12.Ousmane Sow! Sensational finish at Ibrox.

:21:13. > :21:13.It was a difficult season for everybody.

:21:14. > :21:16.Hearts were by far the best team in the Championship, ran away

:21:17. > :21:21.I think you could say they surprised everybody, the way

:21:22. > :21:24.I don't know how many points they had.

:21:25. > :21:29.Ally McCoist has left his position as Rangers manager and the club say

:21:30. > :21:34.When you see the way the manager was towards the end,

:21:35. > :21:39.As a football manager, you want to concentrate on

:21:40. > :21:44.A lot of the time at the end, a lot of attention was

:21:45. > :21:51.It was all about how he dealt with everything off the field.

:21:52. > :21:53.When I actually went in, in my 35 years of being involved

:21:54. > :21:58.in football, the morale and the confidence was the lowest

:21:59. > :22:02.From the top of the club, there was no leadership.

:22:03. > :22:05.There was nobody there to get a grip of the club.

:22:06. > :22:07.It was like a rudderless ship, if you like.

:22:08. > :22:16.I don't think we were equipped as a team to go and face Celtic

:22:17. > :22:22.Personally, and I'm sure a few of the other boys would say,

:22:23. > :22:25.we were out of luck that day and Celtic ran out

:22:26. > :22:37.We came up short against Motherwell in the play-offs.

:22:38. > :22:40.No doubt about it, over the two legs, Motherwell were by far

:22:41. > :22:47.Ainsworth scores the goal that secures safety for Motherwell!

:22:48. > :22:50.In a 15-minute spell, all the work of a full season that

:22:51. > :22:53.had been done to try and get into the top league at the first

:22:54. > :22:58.time of asking, was unravelled in a three-goal spell.

:22:59. > :23:08.I did say at the time it was a great time to come into Rangers.

:23:09. > :23:11.It was almost a blank canvas to bring your own players in.

:23:12. > :23:14.Rangers have been really impressive under Warburton this season.

:23:15. > :23:17.He has signed well, he's signed players we weren't really aware of.

:23:18. > :23:20.It's going to be left for Tavernier!

:23:21. > :23:24.Mark Warburton has gelled the team together, built a team that

:23:25. > :23:28.genuinely believe they can win any game of football.

:23:29. > :23:32.So I think for the first time in years, there's a style of play,

:23:33. > :23:34.the fans are sitting on the edge of their seats, saying,

:23:35. > :23:39.And then of course the semifinal against Celtic.

:23:40. > :23:42.Which so far has been the signature result and performance

:23:43. > :23:53.Barrie McKay scores a wonder goal for Rangers in extra time!

:23:54. > :23:55.Rangers played so comfortably and were good on the ball

:23:56. > :23:58.and played out from the back, and kept the ball for long periods.

:23:59. > :24:01.I don't think I've ever seen an Old Firm game where it's been

:24:02. > :24:06.that one team's played far better than the other team.

:24:07. > :24:09.I thought Rangers were fantastic, passed them off the pitch.

:24:10. > :24:11.There's no doubt the quality of the football they played

:24:12. > :24:19.It was a massive lift for the whole football club.

:24:20. > :24:21.Throughout the season, they must be delighted.

:24:22. > :24:24.The things that he's put in place, the players have taken on board.

:24:25. > :24:27.And again, the backing and support, it's just been

:24:28. > :24:43.Just over an hour and a half to kick-off, Alan Stubbs leads

:24:44. > :24:48.Hibernian off the bus into Hampden Park. The League Cup final losers,

:24:49. > :24:53.they missed out on promotion, can they win the Scottish Cup against

:24:54. > :24:56.Rangers? We will find out in the coming moment. We have been watching

:24:57. > :25:00.those recollections of Rangers fighting their way back through the

:25:01. > :25:04.leagues, can you remember where you were when you heard the news four

:25:05. > :25:08.years ago that such a big club, your former club, had been relegated to

:25:09. > :25:17.the fourth level? I can't remember, but it was shocking. You know how

:25:18. > :25:24.big Rangers is all over the world. Everywhere you come, Rangers fans.

:25:25. > :25:30.We took about Rangers and Celtic, how big they are. You think if they

:25:31. > :25:33.are in the Premiership, they would be the likes of Liverpool, that

:25:34. > :25:38.status, and they go down to the third division. It was a major

:25:39. > :25:47.shock. Could you explain it to yourself? It is due to management.

:25:48. > :25:58.We have it now in our Dutch league, Twente has to go down. You want your

:25:59. > :26:04.team to go well, but you go over your Budget. That is not the way to

:26:05. > :26:09.do it. Mismanagement. Every big company, if you do that, you get

:26:10. > :26:13.sacked, and the company is probably ruined. That is the same as a

:26:14. > :26:21.football club. Was it still the right thing to do? The rules are the

:26:22. > :26:25.rules. I can understand the argument against it, it felt very Draconian,

:26:26. > :26:31.but the people have to work within what they see as the rules. Stuart

:26:32. > :26:35.McCall says it better than any of us, it has happened, we need to get

:26:36. > :26:42.on with it and stop it looked as if it would be a straight progression

:26:43. > :26:45.all the way up. Looking back now, I hope eventually people look back at

:26:46. > :26:49.those teams that got through those divisions and be very depressed. The

:26:50. > :26:55.work that Ally McCoist and Lee McCulloch did. It is tough to get

:26:56. > :27:01.all the way through and stick by the club. I applaud them. In the end,

:27:02. > :27:05.they were going to get back, it took them a year longer, but they are now

:27:06. > :27:09.getting back when he looked strong enough, and that is important. Until

:27:10. > :27:15.this season, you would not say they have done it in style. That is a

:27:16. > :27:20.fair assessment. You look at the transition from last season to this

:27:21. > :27:25.season, it is huge. You can now see them settling into the top flight

:27:26. > :27:29.and aching a good fist of it. Previously, there was a huge golf.

:27:30. > :27:33.That is a huge credit to Mark Warburton and the players he has

:27:34. > :27:37.brought in. You heard Michael Grant, who brought in a lot of guys we did

:27:38. > :27:43.not know a great deal about, he has moulded them into a young, energetic

:27:44. > :27:48.team. For the Rangers supporters, they can now look at that side and

:27:49. > :27:52.get excited about it. It will be a good addition to the top flight next

:27:53. > :27:58.year. There is Mark Warburton leading Rangers of their team bus.

:27:59. > :28:05.Kenny Miller. We will get the team news at 2pm, that is as early as we

:28:06. > :28:11.can get it. We will bring it to you at that point. Rangers against

:28:12. > :28:15.Hibernian, the 2016 Scottish Cup final. We are also looking back, one

:28:16. > :28:22.of the most fondly remembered finals is 25 years old, Tim -- Jim and

:28:23. > :28:26.Tommy McClane led out Dundee United and Motherwell in an unforgettable

:28:27. > :28:29.match, it still reduces grown men to tears.

:28:30. > :28:32.There's Tom McLean and Jim McLean leading out their respective teams.

:28:33. > :28:34.The build-up to the final was disappointing for the family,

:28:35. > :28:38.because my father died the Tuesday prior to the game.

:28:39. > :28:43.The second time that brothers have led out the Cup final teams.

:28:44. > :28:46.The main thing was in the final, if you lost, it was your

:28:47. > :28:55.The friendly family Cup final is under way.

:28:56. > :28:58.My memories of the day would be getting up in the morning,

:28:59. > :29:01.myself and Davie Cooper, looking to see who we would bet

:29:02. > :29:06.on to score the first goal, I am sure he bet me!

:29:07. > :29:09.I picked the ball up, given to Jim Griffin,

:29:10. > :29:13.he went down the right-hand side, a great ball in.

:29:14. > :29:27.The problem was Ally Maxwell had a bad injury.

:29:28. > :29:34.Colliding with Maxwell, he is in trouble.

:29:35. > :29:44.It was the act of his jump, the sharp end of his elbow

:29:45. > :29:52.It was the way I landed, punctured the spleen.

:29:53. > :29:54.I don't attach any blame to John Clark whatsoever.

:29:55. > :29:57.I would have gone for the ball as well.

:29:58. > :30:01.It is how we played the game back then.

:30:02. > :30:04.He is going to continue, but I can't help imagining

:30:05. > :30:08.they will want to test him again very quickly indeed.

:30:09. > :30:13.I was really struggling with my movement.

:30:14. > :30:15.Drilling the ball in low, testing Maxwell,

:30:16. > :30:23.It hit the turf and skidded a little, rather than bounced.

:30:24. > :30:27.I did not get down as quick as I thought I could have done.

:30:28. > :30:30.I would have saved it if I was fully fit.

:30:31. > :30:37.In the second half, another two goals, quite rapid.

:30:38. > :30:54.We felt we were in control at 3-1, thinking about walking up to lift

:30:55. > :30:59.the trophy, but Dundee United had other ideas.

:31:00. > :31:18.At that point, I thought the pendulum had swung in their favour.

:31:19. > :31:25.There's not one player that is a quitter.

:31:26. > :31:32.We all want to win things, but initially we had to win it

:31:33. > :31:36.by beating Dundee United, secondly we had to do it

:31:37. > :31:39.with a goalkeeper injured, and then we lost a goal

:31:40. > :31:47.30 minutes and perhaps the penalty shoot out.

:31:48. > :31:52.Maxwell will be dreading that prospect.

:31:53. > :31:59.Alan Main, a phenomenal goalkeeper, he fumbled the cross a bit.

:32:00. > :32:27.It's a thing I have never said to the players, well done.

:32:28. > :32:36.The final whistle has gone. Motherwell have won the Cup.

:32:37. > :32:44.In the most dramatic fashion possible.

:32:45. > :32:50.It was a great reflection on how my father wanted

:32:51. > :32:54.us to play the game, the spirit it was played in.

:32:55. > :32:57.It's the moment these Motherwell supporters have

:32:58. > :33:12.It's so sad that they all can't be here to enjoy the moment.

:33:13. > :33:16.Davie Cooper's contribution was second to none.

:33:17. > :33:20.Philip was a young man at the height of his development.

:33:21. > :33:31.Jamie was a ball-winning midfield player.

:33:32. > :33:33.They'd be first four I think about, I don't think

:33:34. > :33:40.They were an integral part of the team.

:33:41. > :33:57.Every time I see that, gets me. It must get this man, Craig Paterson,

:33:58. > :34:02.our co-commentator today, who played must get this man, Craig Paterson,

:34:03. > :34:08.in that game, a Scottish Cup winner with Motherwell in 1991. It must be

:34:09. > :34:12.so poignant when you get together. Great memories of a wonderful day, a

:34:13. > :34:14.magical cup win for Motherwell, the supporters and the town. Sadness

:34:15. > :34:19.when you think of the four lads who supporters and the town. Sadness

:34:20. > :34:23.are not there to enjoy it with us. Just one of those days, the game had

:34:24. > :34:28.everything. The brothers managing the teams, the tragedy of their

:34:29. > :34:32.father passing away the week before. Seven goals, Max is the wounded

:34:33. > :34:38.hero. Darren Jackson with a last-minute goal. It was Taylor made

:34:39. > :34:44.for Kirky to come and score the winner. He scored against Falkirk.

:34:45. > :34:48.He scored against Celtic. People thought Motherwell's name was on the

:34:49. > :34:54.cup and Kirkwood scored the winner. A lot of people made money betting

:34:55. > :34:59.on Stevie Kirk to score. Never been so happy to hear the final whistle.

:35:00. > :35:03.Dundee United kept coming back. When the final whistle went, you thought,

:35:04. > :35:10.thank goodness, no one can come and take it away. Still talking about it

:35:11. > :35:16.25 years on, fabulous memory. Great memories of 1991. Hibs' Scottish Cup

:35:17. > :35:20.semifinal against Dundee United, we did not know much about debutant

:35:21. > :35:25.goalkeeper Conrad Logan. 16 months after his last senior game, he was

:35:26. > :35:29.an instant hero with a series of superb saves, a couple in the

:35:30. > :35:35.penalty shoot out. He is from Donegal, like another couple of top

:35:36. > :35:38.keepers, Shay Given and our debutant interviewer Packie Bonner.

:35:39. > :35:40.Conrad, for the fans who are watching today,

:35:41. > :35:42.some of them don't know Conrad Logan.

:35:43. > :35:45.I was born in Donegal, I came to England as a 15-year-old,

:35:46. > :35:47.went to Leicester City, and I spent most of my career,

:35:48. > :35:50.15 years, at Leicester City, until I came up here a couple

:35:51. > :35:55.Your dad was one of my heroes, and he played for Finn Harps.

:35:56. > :36:01.Yes, ever since I could walk, I was coming with him to games.

:36:02. > :36:16.Why goalkeeping? Because of yourself.

:36:17. > :36:18.It was you, your penalty save in 1990, I remember watching it

:36:19. > :36:33.The big man from Donegal has set it up for the victory!

:36:34. > :36:35.After that, I wanted to dive like you for

:36:36. > :36:40.I was four years old, my mum was going mad,

:36:41. > :36:48.When you had the homecoming and the books came out,

:36:49. > :36:55.You said, "If you are half as good as your dad,

:36:56. > :37:02.You were out for 15 months with injury.

:37:03. > :37:06.Was there any doubt that you would not come back?

:37:07. > :37:09.I was always quite positive that I would.

:37:10. > :37:13.The surgeon was positive when he did the operation.

:37:14. > :37:15.There is no quick fix for the tendon injury, you have

:37:16. > :37:22.It was a year to the day when I had no pain in my leg,

:37:23. > :37:26.There was light at the end of the tunnel, thinking

:37:27. > :37:33.Did you ever think you would be the hero in a semifinal

:37:34. > :37:40.I was just looking to play a game this season if I could,

:37:41. > :37:43.it is always difficult to find a club with six or seven games left.

:37:44. > :37:51.Half an hour before the warm-up, he named the team, that was it.

:37:52. > :38:00.I was as relaxed as I had been in any game through my career.

:38:01. > :38:03.When you have had an injury and you realise the things that go

:38:04. > :38:07.on outside, maybe being a bit older and everything,

:38:08. > :38:10.I just enjoyed it, I thought it was an unbelievable opportunity

:38:11. > :38:25.They have asked the question of Conrad Logan now.

:38:26. > :38:28.Early enough in the game to make a decent block.

:38:29. > :38:44.Conrad Logan has just received a standing ovation

:38:45. > :38:49.It gives the defenders and people I have not played

:38:50. > :38:52.with more confidence, they can rely on you

:38:53. > :38:58.The first Scottish Cup semifinal is going to a penalty shoot out.

:38:59. > :39:01.When I came to the club, I did not realise how long

:39:02. > :39:06.They said, "If you play in the semifinal, you could

:39:07. > :39:18.The man of the moment does it again.

:39:19. > :39:32.Jason Cummings has the chance to put Hibernian into the final.

:39:33. > :39:44.The tweets and things I read in the paper about how much

:39:45. > :39:50.Who were you on the phone to on the middle of the pitch?

:39:51. > :39:53.I rang my father, I did not have reception.

:39:54. > :40:00.He got the next phone call! I rang my father.

:40:01. > :40:04.It had been a hard time, being injured, for everyone.

:40:05. > :40:08.You need your family and friends to stick by you.

:40:09. > :40:12.Do you have enough tickets coming over from Donegal?

:40:13. > :40:14.We are all sorted and ready, they will have their seats,

:40:15. > :40:31.Best of luck. Thank you.

:40:32. > :40:37.That is one of those rare interviews where you say, who is the biggest

:40:38. > :40:45.influence on your career? Well, you, actually! What a story, Conrad

:40:46. > :40:50.Logan. Cliche alert, fairy tale. We all sat there watching it when we

:40:51. > :40:54.came on, I hadn't seen it before... We were a bit apprehensive, let's be

:40:55. > :40:59.absolutely honest, but he was absolutely stunning. And you watch

:41:00. > :41:03.what happened after these saves. The first one he closes everything down.

:41:04. > :41:07.When he finally became the hero and the penalties were saved, most of

:41:08. > :41:13.the players ran to him, not the goal-scorer. The speed off the line

:41:14. > :41:17.was fantastic. Technically superb. Adapting his feet to get to the

:41:18. > :41:21.crosses. He didn't get up the quickest in the world after that

:41:22. > :41:27.penalty, but he got up in time to save that one. The reaction was

:41:28. > :41:30.quite stunning for the Hibs fans. It is like a fairy tale because he was

:41:31. > :41:39.nowhere and suddenly a hero. It was a door to watch if you are football

:41:40. > :41:42.fan, a great story. The Hibs fans must have been concerned, thinking

:41:43. > :41:46.he had not played since 2014, and they ended up giving him a standing

:41:47. > :41:52.ovation. When you see his size, you think he is not in the best shape.

:41:53. > :41:56.But the save we just saw, I think also he has learned from other

:41:57. > :42:00.goalies. He doesn't go too quick to the ground. He uses his arms, like a

:42:01. > :42:07.handball goalie. That is why he saved them. They great story. For

:42:08. > :42:14.somebody so long out. Respect for the man. Maybe more heroics to come

:42:15. > :42:18.today from Conrad. Some of us and some of you know exactly what it is

:42:19. > :42:22.like to play in a big game. Others can only guess what goes through a

:42:23. > :42:29.player's mind during the big build-up. A fascinating insight from

:42:30. > :42:34.the hero of 2002, Peter Lovenkrands looking back.

:42:35. > :42:38.That day was special. It is not like any other game.

:42:39. > :42:40.Coming into Hampden Park, the bus pulling in,

:42:41. > :42:45.You are finally there, Tina Turner's Simply The Best

:42:46. > :42:48.was playing, everybody was getting hyped up.

:42:49. > :42:54.Walking to the dressing room, that is when I started to feel

:42:55. > :43:04.I couldn't stop yawning, I was asked, "Are you tired?"

:43:05. > :43:08.I said, "No, I am just nervous." I yawn when I am nervous.

:43:09. > :43:13.He said, "Don't worry, we've got this."

:43:14. > :43:17.You feel like time is going slow because you are excited.

:43:18. > :43:24.You can hear it in the dressing room, the singing going on.

:43:25. > :43:28.Half the stadium against you, half with you, it is special.

:43:29. > :43:37.This Rangers team are lined up and ready to go.

:43:38. > :43:41.You don't wait, because you don't care, you just focus

:43:42. > :43:53.It's a big game, and you know that from the get go.

:43:54. > :43:57.Just wanted to get into the game quickly and get settled.

:43:58. > :44:00.Annoy the centre half as much as possible.

:44:01. > :44:07.A couple of minutes in, I felt good, got some good chances,

:44:08. > :44:12.you feel ready, you feel like you are in the game.

:44:13. > :44:23.The ball fell for me, I took a touch.

:44:24. > :44:31.Normally I would have played him in, because he would not be happy!

:44:32. > :44:34.The ball goes in, there is an amazing sound that comes

:44:35. > :44:45.Peter Lovenkrands gets a fifth Old Firm goal of the season.

:44:46. > :44:50.Thinking back, you did not realise until after what you had

:44:51. > :45:04.People running off the bench, the staff, everybody is so excited.

:45:05. > :45:09.You are just trying to soak it all up.

:45:10. > :45:12.Peter Lovenkrands with the Cup in his hand.

:45:13. > :45:15.Two goals which he will long remember.

:45:16. > :45:21.It is not until you come home, "What happened today?

:45:22. > :45:34.You make history, an experience you will always remember.

:45:35. > :45:44.Don't tell of the story you told us earlier about him, but he was a bit

:45:45. > :45:50.quick. Unbelievable. You can have pace, but if you don't use it, some

:45:51. > :45:55.boys always wanted at his feet, but he chooses it very well. We had

:45:56. > :45:58.players behind him, we could send him away. He almost gave you an

:45:59. > :46:11.apology for shooting! Should he have passed to you? No! I

:46:12. > :46:17.won't comment on that! You decide in a split-second. Maybe he did not see

:46:18. > :46:25.he is so focused. There is one thing on his mind. When some players have

:46:26. > :46:28.something in their head, it stays in their Fed. He is a bit like that.

:46:29. > :46:34.Don't give him too much information, their Fed. He is a bit like that.

:46:35. > :46:37.just let him go. He can be incredible. The Scotland manager

:46:38. > :46:41.just let him go. He can be here, a couple of big games coming

:46:42. > :46:44.up, a couple of friendlies, against France and Italy will stop he will

:46:45. > :46:55.take in this match this afternoon. This is the one I have been looking

:46:56. > :46:59.forward to. It is a bit different. Rangers and Hibernian, we have not

:47:00. > :47:04.had that for a while. The place is going to be full of colour. The

:47:05. > :47:09.pitch is perfect. It is perfect for a cup final. I hope the rain will

:47:10. > :47:13.stay off, the players can produce what they have done all season. They

:47:14. > :47:20.have done tremendously well. Discovered stars on the way, Barrie

:47:21. > :47:25.McKay, John McGinn, people like that. We hope they will enjoy

:47:26. > :47:29.themselves. They can only be one winner, but it is a great occasion.

:47:30. > :47:34.Everybody is looking at Hibernian and asking, can they recover from

:47:35. > :47:40.not getting promotion? They have had disappointing matches en route. Have

:47:41. > :47:43.they got more to prove? They have proved that they can play, they are

:47:44. > :47:50.well coached, they have a determination, they have had a bit

:47:51. > :47:56.of bad luck. If you look back at several occasions, you think... But

:47:57. > :48:03.that will change. The only way it can change this by making it happen.

:48:04. > :48:08.That is the only thing the players have got to decide. Hope that

:48:09. > :48:14.Rangers don't play well and they can win it that way. Alan will say, we

:48:15. > :48:18.have got to take this. You have media commitments, but you are

:48:19. > :48:24.watching this as Scotland manager. What are you looking at's --? The

:48:25. > :48:28.ability to pass the ball and keep the ball. The fitness level and

:48:29. > :48:35.determination when things are not going well. To keep going.

:48:36. > :48:43.You need the first touch and composure and decision-making, so I

:48:44. > :48:47.will be looking for that. It would be remiss of me to not ask you about

:48:48. > :48:55.Brendan Rodgers, a good appointment for Celtic? Terrific. He has got to

:48:56. > :48:58.work with a great group of people behind the scenes, fantastic

:48:59. > :49:06.support, and I am sure the players will be looking forward to it. He

:49:07. > :49:11.has managed at a massive club like Liverpool, but is it different

:49:12. > :49:17.managing... I have not managed Liverpool, so I can't tell you! But

:49:18. > :49:23.is it different? Manchester United, Leeds United, it is different being

:49:24. > :49:30.a player from a manager. Management is something else, it is a lonely

:49:31. > :49:36.place. No matter where you are. But he has had a good grounding. Europe

:49:37. > :49:45.is the big thing for him, he has got to try and be successful. The league

:49:46. > :49:50.is almost secondary. You need to ask the Celtic the Pol their ambitions

:49:51. > :50:02.are. They have a terrific manager. Enjoy the day.

:50:03. > :50:07.We have got -- we have gone this far without mentioning Rendon Rogers.

:50:08. > :50:10.The bookies were telling us it was happening, but how much of a

:50:11. > :50:15.surprise that Celtic have got a manager at that level? You had asked

:50:16. > :50:20.a week ago, I would have been very surprised. You might have thought he

:50:21. > :50:25.could go to a top club in England. It is a fantastic opportunity, a big

:50:26. > :50:31.club. I also think he fits Celtic perfectly. When you watched him at

:50:32. > :50:35.the very best when Liverpool were playing the best under him, Luis

:50:36. > :50:41.Suarez, Raheem Sterling, they were fantastic to watch. Celtic fans

:50:42. > :50:45.demand that. If you are going to watch teams who want to play good

:50:46. > :50:48.football on the ground, we have another manager who will play really

:50:49. > :50:54.good football as well. It can only be good for Scottish football. Some

:50:55. > :50:58.would say that Celtic have been on a downward spiral. Still winning the

:50:59. > :51:01.title in this country, but their European performances have been a

:51:02. > :51:09.disappointment. Is this a statement of intent? You want to go back to

:51:10. > :51:17.where they normally are, in their way of football, how people see

:51:18. > :51:23.them. Rangers coming back. I won't say everything is back to normal,

:51:24. > :51:28.but they want to be there. They want to be ready for the next step.

:51:29. > :51:33.Brendan Rodgers has so much experience, it is a good move. This

:51:34. > :51:39.will have the Rangers fans talking today beyond this game, because it

:51:40. > :51:42.up the ante. Of course. There was a lot of chat that Celtic had to make

:51:43. > :51:49.a statement with this appointment, and they have done. Gordon Strachan

:51:50. > :51:53.said you need to speak to Celtic to find out what their objectives are,

:51:54. > :51:57.but there is no doubt, if you speak to anybody involved, they have got

:51:58. > :52:01.to get back to competing in Europe because they have fallen away in the

:52:02. > :52:05.last three or four years. That will be one of the parts of the remit, to

:52:06. > :52:12.get them competitive on the European stage again. Aberdeen have run them

:52:13. > :52:15.close the last couple of years, Rangers coming up, Heart of

:52:16. > :52:19.Midlothian will want to kick on, so there will be competition at home,

:52:20. > :52:22.but the European stage is where they need to get to. Lee Wallace and

:52:23. > :52:25.but the European stage is where they Barrie McKay have been called up for

:52:26. > :52:28.Scotland, you watched the semifinal eatery against Celtic hammered they

:52:29. > :52:38.were effective. Amazing, how they played. For bucks

:52:39. > :52:46.-- full-backs coming up and linking with other players. You cannot stay

:52:47. > :52:56.at the back, you have to have runners, look at the best full-backs

:52:57. > :53:01.in the world. The assist makers were the full-backs. You need to have

:53:02. > :53:10.full-backs who can run the full 100 yards. It is not just the case of a

:53:11. > :53:14.standard overlap. Lea Wallace goes inside the white man and gets to the

:53:15. > :53:20.byline. They have linked up really well. It will be interesting. You

:53:21. > :53:24.heard Craig Paterson talking about whether Alan Stubbs will play three

:53:25. > :53:29.at the back and five in midfield or their normal narrow four-man

:53:30. > :53:36.diamond. This is where it becomes a tactical battle. If Rangers have the

:53:37. > :53:40.space in the wide areas, people like Lea Wallace will exploit that. This

:53:41. > :53:45.is the flip side. When you play attacking full-backs, you have to

:53:46. > :53:53.get the attacking cover. A deep lying midfielder is important. That

:53:54. > :53:58.is the big tactical question. I look at them and think that they are good

:53:59. > :54:03.enough. We have always known what we were getting from Lea Wallace.

:54:04. > :54:09.Barrie McKay thinking about what lies ahead. He was out on loan,

:54:10. > :54:14.there were all sorts of doubts about his future, Mark Warburton said, you

:54:15. > :54:20.are the man for me, and how has he responded?

:54:21. > :54:28.You need games in your body. I went from Ajax to two -- the Twente

:54:29. > :54:39.because you need games. He did it also. Getting more knowledge about

:54:40. > :54:46.what professional football asks. Everybody knew he had the quality

:54:47. > :54:50.already, and now he shows it. I know exactly what you mean, having played

:54:51. > :54:55.in wide areas. If you have a fallback that flies by due and you

:54:56. > :55:00.give the ball away, before but can't go. Barrie McKay does not give the

:55:01. > :55:04.ball away, he has an intelligent mind, he knows when to take chances,

:55:05. > :55:11.and that is why they have been so successful. That one time they were

:55:12. > :55:17.broken on, for every one they have lost, they have scored ten to 15.

:55:18. > :55:24.Always take the positive. There are far more positives in that link up

:55:25. > :55:28.than there are negatives. Lea Wallace is really intelligent.

:55:29. > :55:32.Barrie McKay is a youngster, it is good to have somebody like that

:55:33. > :55:40.behind him, went to tuck in and went to stay out wide. There is a good

:55:41. > :55:43.combination between them. It is all well and good getting the

:55:44. > :55:48.experience, but he needed somebody at Rangers who would give him that

:55:49. > :55:51.opportunity. He could have got the experience and come back and hit a

:55:52. > :55:55.brick wall again. Full credit to Mark Warburton for creating the

:55:56. > :55:59.space for Barrie McKay to do so well. Just over an hour to go to

:56:00. > :56:04.space for Barrie McKay to do so kick off. Last season Darren

:56:05. > :56:07.McGregor was a Rangers player will stop in the summer, there was a

:56:08. > :56:11.parting of the ways, and he went back to the roots, fulfilling his

:56:12. > :56:16.boyhood dream of paying for Hibernian.

:56:17. > :56:20.To be given the opportunity so late in my career to come to a club

:56:21. > :56:23.that I have supported was a dream come true.

:56:24. > :56:26.I don't think Rod Petrie will be happy, but I used to sneak

:56:27. > :56:32.My mum and dad were short of cash, I took it upon myself to go

:56:33. > :56:34.with friends and hopped over the fence.

:56:35. > :56:39.That was my first experience of Hibs.

:56:40. > :56:47.Me being a defender when I was younger,

:56:48. > :56:49.looking up and thinking, this guy has ability.

:56:50. > :56:53.We are told as defenders to head it and clear it and give it

:56:54. > :56:55.to somebody who could play, but to see him gracing

:56:56. > :57:04.Easter Road, I looked up to him and aspired to be him.

:57:05. > :57:12.I remember the phone call, Danny Lennon asked if I wanted

:57:13. > :57:19.I did not take too long to make my mind up.

:57:20. > :57:30.I enjoyed my time at Rangers, they looked after me really well,

:57:31. > :57:34.a lot of good people there, from top to bottom.

:57:35. > :57:37.They want their own people, I respect Mark Warburton.

:57:38. > :57:43.He said at my age I needed to play football, I agreed.

:57:44. > :57:51.A club I have supported all my life, it was an easy choice.

:57:52. > :57:54.I signed on the dotted line and got my number 24,

:57:55. > :57:56.that was me, unbelievable, something I had dreamed

:57:57. > :58:06.His man-management skills are second to none.

:58:07. > :58:09.For me, that has been a big factor in why we have got so far

:58:10. > :58:15.That is a trait that is difficult to acquire.

:58:16. > :58:18.You can be a tactician and set your team out,

:58:19. > :58:21.but if you cannot relate to your players and have

:58:22. > :58:25.a personable conversation with them, it is difficult for them

:58:26. > :58:36.The boys have worked so hard and done so well in cup conditions.

:58:37. > :58:42.To potentially be left with nothing to show for it is really sad.

:58:43. > :58:46.The grit and determination that we will need to show

:58:47. > :58:50.on Saturday, we will be motivated by losing the cup final

:58:51. > :58:58.The season is on a knife edge, having lost the League Cup

:58:59. > :59:02.This is our one chance of redemption.

:59:03. > :59:05.We are sitting here with a great opportunity to win a Cup that

:59:06. > :59:15.has not graced Leith in a good long while.

:59:16. > :59:28.He speaks well. It must be tough when the Rangers manager said, I

:59:29. > :59:32.don't Inc so, not for me. But it has had a happy ending, he is back with

:59:33. > :59:37.his boyhood club. He has had a brilliant season. I had not realised

:59:38. > :59:44.how quick he is. He is lightning quick. He sometimes gets himself in

:59:45. > :59:48.that position is. But his pace gets him out of him. He has got a really

:59:49. > :59:54.good understanding with Danny Handling. He seems comfortable going

:59:55. > :59:59.into a three as well. Not all centre-backs in Scotland have been

:00:00. > :00:05.able to do that. He has managed to do it. It has been a special season.

:00:06. > :00:13.Is it a back three or a back four today for Hibs? The managers make

:00:14. > :00:18.the big money to make the big decisions. That will be one today.

:00:19. > :00:23.He has played three at the back against Rangers. He has played four

:00:24. > :00:28.as well. It throws up a conundrum. If they play three, they will have

:00:29. > :00:31.more bodies in the middle but they will have more width. Craig Paterson

:00:32. > :00:36.said if you have the wing-backs and the central three, you can combat

:00:37. > :00:42.Rangers in wider areas because Wallace wants to get forward. Of

:00:43. > :00:47.course. The wisdom from that is that Unigate one of the big threats of

:00:48. > :00:54.Rangers. You will confront them further up the park. -- you negate.

:00:55. > :00:58.I still think they have played so much with a diamond in the middle of

:00:59. > :01:04.the park. To change it for the cup final would be a big, bold decision.

:01:05. > :01:10.It is a big temptation. There are games when you say, right, we have

:01:11. > :01:16.decent play, but if we can nullify each other... Hibs would accept

:01:17. > :01:20.losing Gray out of the game if you take Wallace out of it because of

:01:21. > :01:23.the effect he has going forward. Kenny Shiels will feel a flush of

:01:24. > :01:34.paternal pride if his son can lift the cup. Dean's first taste of

:01:35. > :01:36.Scottish football... A cup double would be a special moment for father

:01:37. > :01:38.and son. Given all the troubles they have

:01:39. > :01:44.had, did you seek advice from your father about making

:01:45. > :01:47.the move from the SPL to Division 3? Yes, he told me to

:01:48. > :01:49.stay at Kilmarnock! Throughout my career he has always

:01:50. > :01:53.been my main adviser. I will always have him

:01:54. > :01:55.to take advice from. What he can do with the ball

:01:56. > :02:16.is quite extraordinary. From a very young age,

:02:17. > :02:19.his friends where he lived in Northern Ireland

:02:20. > :02:23.were all Rangers supporters. Because he was a free agent,

:02:24. > :02:28.he wanted to try Rangers I can empathise with that,

:02:29. > :02:37.because Rangers are a big club. One of the biggest

:02:38. > :02:40.clubs in the world. Rangers, Celtic, Manchester United,

:02:41. > :02:43.they are synonymous anywhere you go in Europe or South America,

:02:44. > :02:48.they are well known. As Rangers celebrate

:02:49. > :02:51.their return to the top flight The supporters are now reenergised,

:02:52. > :02:58.back in the Premier League, back to challenge the Old Firm,

:02:59. > :03:02.the old rivalry. The methodology of the manager

:03:03. > :03:07.and how they play have lent itself Hibs were very good to my son,

:03:08. > :03:18.they are a great club, Dean Shiels scores

:03:19. > :03:28.at the second attempt. To go there and play for a club that

:03:29. > :03:33.plays football in the right manner with the right philosophy,

:03:34. > :03:40.that was a great period in his life. If he was to ask your advice,

:03:41. > :03:43.what would you say? I would say, treat it

:03:44. > :03:47.like a garden kickabout. You have got to combine

:03:48. > :03:53.two sources of energy, you have to be mentally

:03:54. > :03:58.strong and aggressive in your movement and your nature,

:03:59. > :04:02.and you have got to combine that If you can put that recipe together,

:04:03. > :04:23.you are pretty close. Kenny Shiels wondering if his son

:04:24. > :04:29.will play. The all-important team news shortly. Peter Lovenkrands was

:04:30. > :04:34.speaking about how a big match like this affected him. What were you

:04:35. > :04:39.like on cup final date for Rangers? I was already a bit older, but when

:04:40. > :04:44.you are younger, those are the games you are looking forward to. A lot of

:04:45. > :04:50.tension is normal. Too much is not good because you get heavy legs. The

:04:51. > :04:54.thing you look back on in your career, those moments you will never

:04:55. > :04:59.forget. For example when Peter Lovenkrands scored twice against

:05:00. > :05:06.Celtic in the final. That is why you have all of the work done before.

:05:07. > :05:10.Those are the special things. One can handle the pressure, someone

:05:11. > :05:17.can't. Of course that makes you a good player or not. What were you

:05:18. > :05:20.like before the game, Michael? Some people handle it differently. You

:05:21. > :05:28.just get used to do it with experience. Very young, I was a

:05:29. > :05:33.little bit too nervous, the tension affected my game. Once you get a bit

:05:34. > :05:37.more experience, you learn to relax and handle it. But definitely, there

:05:38. > :05:41.is a big difference between if you allow too much tension to affect

:05:42. > :05:43.your game, but you need a bit of nervous energy almost to keep you on

:05:44. > :05:48.your toes. When I was younger, I had nervous energy almost to keep you on

:05:49. > :05:54.too much. With more experience, I learned to handle it. I couldn't

:05:55. > :05:59.handle the tension. I put too much pressure on myself. In training, I

:06:00. > :06:03.was one of the best. In the game, I couldn't show it. When you get

:06:04. > :06:10.older, you get to a place where you can handle it. I never understood

:06:11. > :06:14.it. I had never been nervous in my life, so I never got it. I used to

:06:15. > :06:18.be slightly jealous of the players who were nervous. Because the

:06:19. > :06:23.players said it gave you edge and a bit of a boost. I thought it was

:06:24. > :06:29.better to be comfortable and relaxed. I'm sure there are a couple

:06:30. > :06:35.of players out there who will be totally comfortable. I can't see

:06:36. > :06:40.Cummings being a nervous guy. But a belief in yourself. I talked about

:06:41. > :06:46.Patrick Kluivert, he had so much confidence in himself. He even

:06:47. > :06:51.thought he was a good penalty taker. I would say, you are rubbish! But he

:06:52. > :06:55.thinks he is great. In another sense, that makes a good penalty

:06:56. > :07:00.taker, because he has no fear to miss. You get the complete range in

:07:01. > :07:05.the dressing room. Someone who is completely calm and someone who is

:07:06. > :07:10.throwing up in the toilet. Everybody is different. People handle it in

:07:11. > :07:13.different ways. My personal experience, I had too much tension,

:07:14. > :07:17.I couldn't handle it, but I learned to deal with it. Some people you

:07:18. > :07:22.think they are nervous wreck but somehow they managed to handle it

:07:23. > :07:25.and they perform OK. Every team has different characters. You have to

:07:26. > :07:31.get a balance because you can't have everybody the same. We talked about

:07:32. > :07:35.formations and tactics. So much is about who takes the initiative, the

:07:36. > :07:40.front foot, the back foot. Who sets the tone right from the start. Hibs,

:07:41. > :07:45.almost every game they want to get in the face of the opponents. A lot

:07:46. > :07:50.of people said in the build-up, and I would agree, Hibs have to go in

:07:51. > :07:53.front today. If they go behind, it is a nightmare for Hibs, the

:07:54. > :07:58.pressure comes straight onto them. It will be tough for them to come

:07:59. > :08:04.back. They showed against for Kark they can come back but it's really

:08:05. > :08:07.difficult. -- against Falkirk. But in the other semifinal, Celtic

:08:08. > :08:11.wanted to do that with Rangers and they never got a sniff of the ball

:08:12. > :08:18.in the first 45 minutes. It is whoever takes control. 51 minutes

:08:19. > :08:20.until kick-off in the 2016 Scottish Cup final. Here is what is still to

:08:21. > :08:22.come. Being Jason Cummings,

:08:23. > :08:24.by two who should know. He seems to pop up and get

:08:25. > :08:29.the ball in the box. We look at the making of Mark

:08:30. > :08:31.Warburton. He is remembered fondly,

:08:32. > :08:34.but if you know him, he will be rumoured fondly

:08:35. > :08:36.wherever he goes. He has the ability to make

:08:37. > :08:40.people feel very special. And will the return

:08:41. > :08:42.of Anthony Stokes I've enjoyed my time here,

:08:43. > :08:48.one of the reasons I came back - because I enjoyed

:08:49. > :08:50.the first spell I had. Rangers will win it easy! 3-0, 3-1.

:08:51. > :09:24.Hibees! 50-50. I think Hibs, definitely. I

:09:25. > :09:33.have a funny feeling they might put us, like. Hibees! We are nervous but

:09:34. > :09:40.we are hoping that Rangers win, maybe 2-1. Come on! Getting closer

:09:41. > :09:45.and closer to the announcement of the teams. Rangers and Hibs. We have

:09:46. > :09:51.spoken about what Hibs might do tactically and shape-wise at the

:09:52. > :09:58.back. I guess Rangers' options are failure limited when you think about

:09:59. > :10:06.it. Ball is suspended, King and O'Halloran cup tied. Law is short of

:10:07. > :10:11.match action. I guess his team is almost going to pick itself, Mark

:10:12. > :10:15.Warburton. For a lot of the season, there has been very few changes in

:10:16. > :10:21.the Rangers side. A very settled team. A few comings and goings, not

:10:22. > :10:28.a great deal. Coming into this game, a few guys missing, cup tied,

:10:29. > :10:31.Dominic Ball suspended. The one question is in the middle of the

:10:32. > :10:35.park in terms of what is going to happen. In the semifinal, Dominic

:10:36. > :10:41.Ball plate number six and did it really well. I think Halliday will

:10:42. > :10:44.drop in there and it is a question of who is going to step into the

:10:45. > :10:50.middle of the path to take the place to link up with the striker. Not a

:10:51. > :10:54.huge number of decisions for Mark Warburton to make. He will have been

:10:55. > :10:58.quite settled in his mind who his team will have been. The one thing,

:10:59. > :11:04.the number six position, Halliday stepping in and whether he can

:11:05. > :11:08.negate the potential top of the diamond for Hibs if they go that

:11:09. > :11:13.way. Going forward for Rangers, the squad size is an issue in a tougher

:11:14. > :11:22.league. Not much to spare at the moment. No. I remember in our good

:11:23. > :11:26.times, if you have only 13-14 players who play a lot, you feel

:11:27. > :11:32.comfortable and you know each other very well. If you see a big team,

:11:33. > :11:38.you think, is it the right way? For Rangers, it's perfect. This team

:11:39. > :11:43.knows exactly how they want to play. I think it's a benefit. The only

:11:44. > :11:51.problem is who is going to play number six? You want a creator, to

:11:52. > :11:54.pass the ball well. Or you want a more defensive player. We will know

:11:55. > :12:01.soon. Rangers haven't had many injuries this season. Hibs can

:12:02. > :12:04.afford just about any player to get injured, they have cover just about

:12:05. > :12:11.everywhere. It's actually pretty good. I don't think Stubbsy has many

:12:12. > :12:14.problems. He can change and adapt during the game to do different

:12:15. > :12:16.things. I'm not sure Rangers have that to anywhere near the same

:12:17. > :12:21.level. You wouldn't want Rangers to that to anywhere near the same

:12:22. > :12:25.get a centre-back injured today. If you lose either full-back, it makes

:12:26. > :12:32.a big difference as well. A very, very good point. No many injuries,

:12:33. > :12:39.so well done to the medical staff. It might be all about the

:12:40. > :12:43.preparation and physiotherapy. And the way Mark Warburton takes care of

:12:44. > :12:47.the squad and organises it, he looks at everything. You have to applaud

:12:48. > :12:53.him and the medical staff as well. They have to get a bit lucky, that

:12:54. > :12:58.as well, but that is another thing, Hibs will be slightly more tired. If

:12:59. > :13:02.it goes to extra time, Hibs will be more tired. But Rangers don't want

:13:03. > :13:06.any injuries if they are going to do another half an hour. Difficult to

:13:07. > :13:10.know who is in the position. I would rather have more power on the bench,

:13:11. > :13:18.so that is one area where Hibs have an advantage. Let's get the teams

:13:19. > :13:25.with Liam. We are just getting the team sheet now. No real surprises.

:13:26. > :13:29.Rangers, listed as the home team. Martyn Waghorn plays. He featured

:13:30. > :13:33.against St Mirren in the league a few weeks ago. In fact, the same

:13:34. > :13:40.team as that day. When you have 28 goals, he has to start. I think so.

:13:41. > :13:44.Even if he only lasts an hour, fine, then you can bring on a substitute.

:13:45. > :13:48.He will chop and change, with Kenny Miller moving into the middle, and

:13:49. > :13:53.moving out wide. He is the top scorer, so get him on at the start

:13:54. > :13:57.and see if he can do damage. If he runs out of steam, go to the bench.

:13:58. > :14:06.Gedion Zelalem also in from the start. We wondered who would partner

:14:07. > :14:11.Anthony Stokes. Keatings did so well last week. Jason Cummings, you have

:14:12. > :14:16.to play him as the top scorer, and an excellent record against Rangers.

:14:17. > :14:23.He is a big-time player, a confident player. 30 yards in, he will shoot.

:14:24. > :14:24.Hibs going with a back three. That is the formation that allowed them

:14:25. > :14:28.Hibs going with a back three. That to beat Rangers in the last league

:14:29. > :14:34.game at Easter Road. Alan Stubbs hoping for more of the same. So

:14:35. > :14:38.close between these teams over the last couple of seasons, this is the

:14:39. > :14:45.biggest so far. Kick-off is fast approaching. Alan Stubbs will hope

:14:46. > :14:46.today's milestone for him is significant, his 100th game as Hibs

:14:47. > :14:57.manager. It looks like a back three. We know

:14:58. > :15:06.Rangers are a good team. " A lot of the games they do have a chunk of

:15:07. > :15:12.possession, as we do. When we have not got the ball, we want to be

:15:13. > :15:16.difficult to beat. We have played with a three against them before and

:15:17. > :15:21.one, and with a four. I have gone with that because it could have the

:15:22. > :15:28.best chance of winning the game. What must you get right today? We

:15:29. > :15:34.must get decision-making right, working together as a team, and when

:15:35. > :15:39.we create chances, we have to take them. It will be the same for

:15:40. > :15:45.Rangers. It has got the makings of a great game. It will be exciting. It

:15:46. > :15:47.Rangers. It has got the makings of a has got everything you would want

:15:48. > :15:53.the Scottish Cup final to have today. Rangers have had a rest, you

:15:54. > :16:01.haven't, do you expect that to have any bearing? I don't know. Whether

:16:02. > :16:12.they win or lose, I would not look at that as a reason. They have known

:16:13. > :16:19.about it for a while. Mark has done the best he can do with the

:16:20. > :16:24.timescale in between the games. We have been going Saturday, Wednesday

:16:25. > :16:29.or Sunday, Tuesday. It has kept us going. It is the first time we have

:16:30. > :16:34.had a week in between games for a number of months. There has been a

:16:35. > :16:42.long time for this club, is today the day? I hope so. It will be

:16:43. > :16:46.fantastic if it does. But we have 90 minutes, potentially 120, to put the

:16:47. > :16:52.hard-working buckle -- before we can stop thinking about that.

:16:53. > :16:57.It is Anthony Stokes and Jason Cummings upfront, and the back

:16:58. > :17:02.three. It is Gedion Zelalem in midfield for Rangers, instead of

:17:03. > :17:08.Dean Shiels. Other than that, no surprises. There were very few

:17:09. > :17:13.places up for discussion. Gedion Zelalem, it will be a big game, he

:17:14. > :17:17.has not played a great deal, especially in the second half of the

:17:18. > :17:22.season. You would expect there will be a lot of bodies in the middle. He

:17:23. > :17:29.is not the most physical. It is a big part, but there will be a lot of

:17:30. > :17:33.people on top of him. From Hibernian's perspective, the free at

:17:34. > :17:38.the back. Liam Henderson will be devastated he is not playing, and

:17:39. > :17:44.Liam Fontaine coming in. But you can understand it. Yes, but it is always

:17:45. > :17:50.disappointing when good players are not starting. I tried to figure out

:17:51. > :17:56.who was missing, it was between John McGinn and Liam Henderson. You need

:17:57. > :18:02.players later on. One of the things you said, Hibernian have looked

:18:03. > :18:08.tired at the end of some games, and Liam Henderson put everything in for

:18:09. > :18:13.every single game, so maybe if you need somebody in the last half an

:18:14. > :18:20.hour, that is the man you need. We thought it would be an open game,

:18:21. > :18:25.but with this line-up, I don't think it will be an open game. The

:18:26. > :18:34.full-backs from Rangers will come up, but with five in the back, it is

:18:35. > :18:40.difficult to go forward. They know that, they don't want to step in the

:18:41. > :18:44.trap. Everybody says three in the back is five at the back when you

:18:45. > :18:49.lose the ball. Then you either have to or three midfielders in front of

:18:50. > :18:56.that. It is difficult for Rangers to break down. They have to be careful.

:18:57. > :19:01.It will be a tactical game, especially the first 45 minutes.

:19:02. > :19:08.Don't expect too much in the first half. Hopefully, a gold will open up

:19:09. > :19:14.the game. Neither team will want to lose the game early on. The

:19:15. > :19:17.Hibernian full-backs, whether they play four or three, they will

:19:18. > :19:22.provide the width. When they lose the ball, it will become a five.

:19:23. > :19:27.Even with a diamond midfield, they are expected to push high up the

:19:28. > :19:32.park. That is where it becomes a tactical battle, who will get the

:19:33. > :19:37.best of the full-back area. It is not only that. If you have three

:19:38. > :19:41.centre-backs, that says something, you are not comfortable with your

:19:42. > :19:46.team defensively from free kicks and corners, and most fans know they

:19:47. > :19:50.have lost a lot of goals from there. But if you get free kicks and

:19:51. > :19:55.corners, you can attack, those lads might make a difference. Maybe that

:19:56. > :20:02.is what they are working towards today. They have wide players who

:20:03. > :20:07.can put the ball in. Some useful pre-cup final advice coming up for

:20:08. > :20:13.Jason Cummings, who has scored 25 goals this season, and he promises

:20:14. > :20:17.so much for the future. Two other players have traded a similar path,

:20:18. > :20:21.they are warning the Young pretender to stick on the straight and narrow

:20:22. > :20:24.so as to not miss out on what could and should be coming his way.

:20:25. > :20:27.Jason Cummings is going to have the chance to put Hibs

:20:28. > :20:44.With my new barnet, I thought I would dink it.

:20:45. > :20:48.It takes a special kind of player and person to do that

:20:49. > :20:54.in normal time, and then do this to win a semifinal.

:20:55. > :21:07.But Jason Cummings could not ever be described as ordinary,

:21:08. > :21:10.and he is the latest in a line of brilliant but erratic

:21:11. > :21:21.Garry O'Connor scores in the Edinburgh derby!

:21:22. > :21:27.What Garry O'Connor traits are in him?

:21:28. > :21:30.Running in behind and shooting early.

:21:31. > :21:44.He is an in-the-box player, he pops up

:21:45. > :21:53.He reminds me a little bit of Sparky.

:21:54. > :21:55.He was a Jambo by birth, but when Hearts released him

:21:56. > :21:58.as a teenager, Hibs gave him the platform to become

:21:59. > :22:19.Leigh Griffiths, Fletcher, they have all had an edge to them.

:22:20. > :22:22.Some people will like that, and some people will maybe

:22:23. > :22:37.The Hibernian family does not forget its own,

:22:38. > :22:42.regardless of past indiscretion or promises undelivered.

:22:43. > :22:49.It is like a small pond, big fish in a small pond.

:22:50. > :22:52.When you are a football player, everything gets picked up

:22:53. > :22:55.on footballers these days, but it is part and parcel of it.

:22:56. > :23:01.At a young age, getting so much money, you never had

:23:02. > :23:12.You go out, you buy flash motors, nice houses.

:23:13. > :23:14.Maybe you should have somebody who gives

:23:15. > :23:25.With the younger ones who are coming into the game, you do feel an extra

:23:26. > :23:31.sense of responsibility to try and guide them along the right path.

:23:32. > :23:33.The players in the dressing room have a responsibility

:23:34. > :23:39.I would not have a bad word to say about Jason.

:23:40. > :23:46.He is just a young lad that maybe needs to mature ever so slightly,

:23:47. > :23:49.but there is not a bad bone in his body, he is a great lad

:23:50. > :23:52.around the place, he is quite chirpy.

:23:53. > :24:01.He keeps everyone motivated, on their toes, including the gaffer.

:24:02. > :24:04.I underachieved, maybe that was off-the-field

:24:05. > :24:12.I don't know how many goals I scored for Hibs, 85 goals for Hibs,

:24:13. > :24:17.That fills me with pride, nobody can take that away from me.

:24:18. > :24:22.But I never really fulfilled my potential.

:24:23. > :24:29.When you are at school, you imagine playing

:24:30. > :24:34.I have done it, I have played for Hibs, scored a lot

:24:35. > :24:37.of goals and played for my country, so I can't ask for much

:24:38. > :24:45.What would it mean for a young local striker to be the man who helps Hibs

:24:46. > :24:55.As I would say to him, don't let it go to his head.

:24:56. > :24:59.Be very careful, yes, because everybody will

:25:00. > :25:12.It is not what he will be thinking about at the moment, but some good

:25:13. > :25:18.advice in there from two who should know. They achieved great things,

:25:19. > :25:24.but were left feeling frustrated they did not do more. We were just

:25:25. > :25:33.chatting about them. Really nice guys. But you can safely say they

:25:34. > :25:37.could have done a lot more. They have had successful careers. You

:25:38. > :25:40.look at Jason Cummings, it is almost like an embodiment of them ten years

:25:41. > :25:47.ago. It would be wise of him to listen to them, because they will

:25:48. > :25:52.give him some good advice. He is a top talent, Jason Cummings, the

:25:53. > :25:55.potential is unlimited. Hibernian breed the Centre forwards, they have

:25:56. > :25:59.a lot of talent but there is something a bit missing. Leigh

:26:00. > :26:07.Griffiths showed that can be overcome. He has gone further and

:26:08. > :26:13.been phenomenal. The possibilities of going further there. He is a

:26:14. > :26:17.talented player. I don't think he links great with Anthony Stokes.

:26:18. > :26:20.That might be a difficulty for them today, but there is no doubt that

:26:21. > :26:27.the players they are playing against, he will run every one of

:26:28. > :26:31.them. Half an hour to kick off in the 2016 William Hill Scottish Cup

:26:32. > :26:35.final, Rangers against Hibernian 's. The early arrivals taking their

:26:36. > :26:41.seats. Let's get a flavour what is happening outside.

:26:42. > :26:45.Who will score? John McGinn. I will go for Rangers winning. But you

:26:46. > :26:52.never know, football is a funny game. It depends on what Rangers

:26:53. > :27:02.turns up. Hibernian looking to win this one. Rangers! I do confident?

:27:03. > :27:07.Yes. Rangers is on a high, we can get into Europe. Simply the best, we

:27:08. > :27:15.are the people! Hibernian to win, amazing.

:27:16. > :27:19.Rangers and Hibs do not need to be introduced, this is the 13th time

:27:20. > :27:22.they have played in the last couple of seasons, four league meetings

:27:23. > :27:30.this season, it is two victories each.

:27:31. > :28:04.Deflection, Jason Cummings scores for Hibernian,

:28:05. > :28:54.Anthony Stokes, Wes Foderingham has spilled it, it is two.

:28:55. > :29:17.That sets up a nervous finale at Easter Road.

:29:18. > :29:27.Let's talk about those four games. It tells us something about the ebb

:29:28. > :29:30.and flow of the season in the division. This was way back in

:29:31. > :29:43.August, the first league meeting. It was close, it took a bit of magic

:29:44. > :29:47.from James Tavernier. You need players who are effective with free

:29:48. > :29:51.kicks, it was a great goal. Those games are tight. It will be today

:29:52. > :30:03.also, not any different. He has been a real discovery, James

:30:04. > :30:07.Tavernier. Unbelievable. To score as many goals from full-back as he has,

:30:08. > :30:13.he has been a real find. The outlet he gives the team, a huge success.

:30:14. > :30:16.he has been a real find. The outlet Hibs won on November 1st, which was

:30:17. > :30:24.important because Rangers had roared out of the blocks. Good goals. The

:30:25. > :30:31.standard of goals in this tie... Long may it continue. Some absolute

:30:32. > :30:36.crackers. That shows there are some talented players involved. But it

:30:37. > :30:41.was incredibly tight. That game, the emotion was exceptional. Hibs

:30:42. > :30:45.getting the winning goal was extraordinary. But it could have

:30:46. > :30:52.gone either way, and most of the games have been like that. This was

:30:53. > :30:56.the last meeting of 2015, Michael. Hibs edging into the lead going into

:30:57. > :31:02.the New Year, but Rangers stamped all over them in a 4-2 win. It was a

:31:03. > :31:09.massive game. Huge expectation going into it. Quite a lot of thought that

:31:10. > :31:16.Hibs were going to get the upper hand. Rangers put in a performance

:31:17. > :31:21.to come out on top. Pat talks about there not being a great deal between

:31:22. > :31:24.the teams. It has led to two thoughtful managers trying to find

:31:25. > :31:29.different ways to breakdown the opposition, which has led to Hibs

:31:30. > :31:34.playing three at the back, and also to Mark Warburton trying to find the

:31:35. > :31:43.way talking about to break down the opposition and make it difficult for

:31:44. > :31:47.them. By this stage, Rangers had just beaten Celtic in the semifinal

:31:48. > :31:52.of this competition and they had won the title and the Challenge Cup, so

:31:53. > :31:57.there was maybe something of a hangover in this performance when

:31:58. > :32:01.Hibs won 3-2 at Easter Road. It is amazing how often it happens, the

:32:02. > :32:07.team who needs to win the game will win it. There is just the extra few

:32:08. > :32:13.percent. You find a way. The thing that underlines it, I don't think

:32:14. > :32:18.there is any fear of either team. There is a bit of respect. We were

:32:19. > :32:26.not hearing much of that from the managers. It was Stubbsy trying to

:32:27. > :32:32.have a wee wind-up. He found none from Mark Warburton. It shows they

:32:33. > :32:39.like to slug it out. Hibs win that one. OK, they lost a late goal. Once

:32:40. > :32:44.again Hibs could find themselves in a position they have done many

:32:45. > :32:48.times, losing late goals, but it has settled down to a real respect

:32:49. > :32:52.between the sides. One player who did not score in any of those games,

:32:53. > :32:58.maybe today might be his day, a player who has played for both

:32:59. > :33:03.clubs- Kenny Miller. 36 and still doing it after all these years. If

:33:04. > :33:07.you keep away from big injuries, you can go a long way. If you keep

:33:08. > :33:14.yourself fit, you can still reach a decent level. Kenny came when I was

:33:15. > :33:23.there, he scored five times in one game. Against St Mirren? Yes. He has

:33:24. > :33:30.always the pace. What I like about him, before it was only pace,

:33:31. > :33:36.running. Now, his runs are always spot on. The right moment to

:33:37. > :33:40.accelerate. And be on time. The experience he brings... He is so

:33:41. > :33:46.clever now with all of those years behind him. A great asset for this

:33:47. > :33:48.young team. He has got better in the course of this season. He was

:33:49. > :33:53.missing chances earlier on, he course of this season. He was

:33:54. > :34:01.hasn't missed many lately. He wasn't playing every week. Since they had

:34:02. > :34:05.injuries, Kenny has had to step up to the plate and he has. He has had

:34:06. > :34:11.to adapt his game at this stage of his career. He gives a good balance.

:34:12. > :34:16.A lot of the young Rangers players. He has the legs and energy about

:34:17. > :34:23.him, whereas he can pick and choose. He realises when he needs to put the

:34:24. > :34:28.afterburners on. That is experience, and he uses it to his advantage. A

:34:29. > :34:33.year ago, Mark Warburton might have seemed an unlikely candidate for

:34:34. > :34:36.Rangers manager, but the last 12 months he has delivered in style. A

:34:37. > :34:43.Londoner who step out of football for a spell as a city trader. He has

:34:44. > :34:46.Lamont has dug into his background. Lamont has dug into his background.

:34:47. > :34:51.-- Alasdair Lamont. Griffin Park, the West London

:34:52. > :34:54.home of the English This is where Mark Warburton came

:34:55. > :34:59.to make a name for himself as a football manager,

:35:00. > :35:00.but his formative years were spent in altogether more

:35:01. > :35:11.humble surroundings. Mark came from Enfield,

:35:12. > :35:15.who were a big club back then. He won the Trophy with them

:35:16. > :35:18.and came here. He played about 105

:35:19. > :35:21.games, maybe a few more. He would not like me to tell

:35:22. > :35:28.you how limited he was, but he would tell you more about his

:35:29. > :35:32.Leicester City youth career. If you know Mark, he will

:35:33. > :35:39.be wherever he goes. He went out the game,

:35:40. > :35:42.he went into the City. What differentiated Mark

:35:43. > :35:51.from the average trader was his networking skills,

:35:52. > :35:53.he was very good with people, he had the ability to make

:35:54. > :35:56.people feel very special, When you are managing risk

:35:57. > :36:01.and currency, you have to be He had the correct appetite

:36:02. > :36:07.for whatever bank he worked He was studying for the Uefa A badge

:36:08. > :36:14.in his spare time, but as soon as he finished in the office,

:36:15. > :36:18.he would go on to train for whatever When we parted company in 2004

:36:19. > :36:28.he was with Watford. Everybody would like to

:36:29. > :36:33.have the opportunity to do that, but we don't

:36:34. > :36:37.have the talent, and he had that. Having cut his coaching teeth

:36:38. > :36:41.as part of Watford's youth academy, his big break came in February 2011,

:36:42. > :36:46.the Brentford owner invited him to become part

:36:47. > :36:51.of the coaching setup here. That summer he was made sporting

:36:52. > :36:54.director to work alongside We shared the same vision,

:36:55. > :37:02.but sometimes we had We discussed them honestly.

:37:03. > :37:09.I did not need a yes man. I needed somebody who honestly

:37:10. > :37:12.gives me his opinion. We had a lot of discussions

:37:13. > :37:19.with agents, contract negotiations, and I felt at some point his

:37:20. > :37:24.desire was changing more to go back to the grass

:37:25. > :37:28.and I completely understood that. Because of the work we did,

:37:29. > :37:32.we got recognised by other clubs. He got an offer from

:37:33. > :37:35.a Premier League club in the sporting-director role,

:37:36. > :37:39.he was honest with me, I got offered several chances

:37:40. > :37:43.in the Championship. When I left for Wigan Athletic,

:37:44. > :37:47.he knew he had a good chance to get I recommended him to the owner,

:37:48. > :37:54.he asked me at the time, he was a natural choice

:37:55. > :37:59.to put him in place, Mark played a big part

:38:00. > :38:06.of the success of Brentford. Last year, there was a parting

:38:07. > :38:11.of the ways. Mark decided that his view

:38:12. > :38:14.of the future and the club's He was not out of work

:38:15. > :38:23.for long, because in June He has embraced it very well.

:38:24. > :38:29.It is a fantastic city. It was quite a surprise,

:38:30. > :38:34.a long way from home. I followed him and my ex-players,

:38:35. > :38:38.James Tavernier, Rob Kiernan, Martyn Waghorn, and I am happy that

:38:39. > :38:42.Rangers is back in the big time. And the way they play football,

:38:43. > :38:49.that is also very important for him. They are not going to overturn

:38:50. > :38:55.Celtic's dominance in ten minutes, there is catching up to do,

:38:56. > :38:59.but he will know that. The first job is to keep

:39:00. > :39:02.closing the gap. He did that this year,

:39:03. > :39:06.you could see that in the semifinal. Going into an Old Firm derby

:39:07. > :39:09.and getting them to produce To be fair, they were the better

:39:10. > :39:16.side from the opening minutes. He has kept in touch with the people

:39:17. > :39:26.who used to work with. Half of the city now

:39:27. > :39:29.looks at Rangers' result. That is the mark of the man,

:39:30. > :39:33.very personable. The day he will leave Rangers,

:39:34. > :39:36.he will leave a talented squad with a lot of quality,

:39:37. > :39:41.with a lot of value. Everywhere he has gone,

:39:42. > :39:49.he has improved where he has been. In such a short time,

:39:50. > :39:53.he has even surprised himself, but his passion, ability,

:39:54. > :39:56.knowledge of football and how he handles people,

:39:57. > :39:59.it did not surprise me. I don't think he will stop here.

:40:00. > :40:16.He can achieve much more. It's always good if someone says

:40:17. > :40:19.that about you. Everywhere he is gone, he's improved, Mark Warburton.

:40:20. > :40:27.12 months ago, you would not have had a clue who he was. Nor did we.

:40:28. > :40:33.When Ajax played Celtic here, I went to the training ground and I heard

:40:34. > :40:39.from the older people there for many years, they said, such a change

:40:40. > :40:46.football-wise. Like modern football. He brought it in. All credit to him.

:40:47. > :40:51.I don't think his venture into the real world, whether the City is the

:40:52. > :40:55.real world, but risk management... Being out of football does not seem

:40:56. > :40:58.to have done him any harm. Sometimes it gives you a reality check to see

:40:59. > :41:04.what the normal world is like, although as you say it is not the

:41:05. > :41:09.normal world. Yes, good football, fine, good players, great, but the

:41:10. > :41:12.way he has coped with being the Rangers manager is really

:41:13. > :41:16.impressive. He has been prodded and poked a few times, which happens

:41:17. > :41:19.with other managers, the press, whatever. You are under massive

:41:20. > :41:24.pressure, and he was under huge pressure to make sure the team got

:41:25. > :41:28.up. But he very rarely seems flustered, he copes incredibly well.

:41:29. > :41:33.If you listen to Gordon Strachan, Walter Smith, they always say the

:41:34. > :41:38.same thing- you never know what pressure is until you actually see

:41:39. > :41:45.this and feel it. He has coped with it. It will be harder next year. I

:41:46. > :41:52.would imagine that having David Weir alongside him would add some

:41:53. > :42:00.calmness. Weir cannot spell panic! It is just the fact he is a balanced

:42:01. > :42:03.guy, quite chilled out. People on camera talking about how he is a

:42:04. > :42:12.good people person, he handles people when. -- people well. Robbie

:42:13. > :42:15.Neilson was on loan at Brentford and he spoke about Mark Warburton and

:42:16. > :42:20.always said what a great character he was. He handled the ball well.

:42:21. > :42:24.Didn't know much about him as a coach, but he said he was a really

:42:25. > :42:28.good man manager. That is one of the most important things as a manager,

:42:29. > :42:32.dealing with people. We are talking about people on the training ground.

:42:33. > :42:39.They have a good feeling off him and he has created a good atmosphere at

:42:40. > :42:42.Rangers. Influential in the tactics, sometimes you need a people manager

:42:43. > :42:51.and sometimes someone else who is technical. I rate David Weir quite

:42:52. > :42:53.high in that aspect. Is he making a point in only naming

:42:54. > :42:58.high in that aspect. Is he making a substitutes today? Yes, it's a

:42:59. > :42:59.shocker. You have plenty of kids, you could throw them on and give

:43:00. > :43:06.shocker. You have plenty of kids, them a bit of experience. But only

:43:07. > :43:12.five substitutes... Hibs have got the full complement. Possibly the

:43:13. > :43:18.point being made to the owners and the people to put money in, we need

:43:19. > :43:25.more players here. He didn't have much options... Yes, but put some

:43:26. > :43:33.kids on the bench. He is probably saying, get me Joey Barton, would

:43:34. > :43:39.you? A memo to the board. He did it in the semifinal, he did not fill

:43:40. > :43:42.the bench. It's a clear sign, they are stepping up to the Premiership,

:43:43. > :43:49.they need reinforcement. We are going to go back outside to Jane.

:43:50. > :43:55.Soon. In the meantime, Anthony Stokes returning to Hibs on loan

:43:56. > :43:58.from Celtic, and it hasn't been the victory procession he was hoping

:43:59. > :44:03.for. Second prize in the League Cup final and missing out on promotion

:44:04. > :44:07.were not part of the plan. He is hoping for third time lucky at

:44:08. > :44:12.Hampden to give the Hibs fans something smile about.

:44:13. > :44:15.Anthony Stokes with the opening goal.

:44:16. > :44:27.I would like to have scored more goals, but I have felt like the last

:44:28. > :44:32.six or seven games my performances were becoming more consistent.

:44:33. > :44:36.If I was not scoring goals, I was assisting or in some way

:44:37. > :44:41.contributing to the team, and my fitness levels got better.

:44:42. > :44:44.It has been difficult, because at the end of the day

:44:45. > :44:47.in my head I had it set that I wanted to get Hibernian

:44:48. > :44:50.back up and help as much as I possibly could.

:44:51. > :44:53.It has not happened, so it has not been everything I wanted.

:44:54. > :44:59.But if we lift the Cup, it will take a bit of the hurt away.

:45:00. > :45:02.It is something the fans have been striving for for a long time.

:45:03. > :45:05.It will be a nice way to wrap up the season and give them

:45:06. > :45:09.For only the second time in four seasons

:45:10. > :45:15.There have been social-media suggestions you might have been keen

:45:16. > :45:22.I have always been a Celtic fan since I was a kid,

:45:23. > :45:28.Even if it meant missing out on the final?

:45:29. > :45:36.He makes a real mess of that penalty, and Rangers have pulled off

:45:37. > :45:44.Once Rangers got over the line, you need to get focused that

:45:45. > :45:47.I am delighted to be going to Hampden Park

:45:48. > :45:51.with Hibernian, to be involved in the game.

:45:52. > :45:57.Frustration boiling over, he rarely gets a look in these days.

:45:58. > :46:00.I was at Celtic for four or five months, I knew I would not be

:46:01. > :46:03.It did not matter what I did in training.

:46:04. > :46:08.At that stage I was pressing to go out on loan.

:46:09. > :46:11.The manager either fancies you or doesn't.

:46:12. > :46:15.Myself and Ronny Deila, I played reasonably well

:46:16. > :46:22.Then we got to the stage where we both knew it would not work.

:46:23. > :46:28.I have no hard feelings, I do not hold grudges.

:46:29. > :46:31.Playing one up front against Partick Thistle was not

:46:32. > :46:36.ideal, but he is the manager, you respect his decision.

:46:37. > :46:42.Every selection he makes, you have to do that.

:46:43. > :46:44.I think I am good enough to be in the team.

:46:45. > :46:47.I will just have to wait and see what happens with Celtic,

:46:48. > :46:59.Wes Foderingham has spilled it, it is two.

:47:00. > :47:02.I have enjoyed my time here, it is one of the reasons I came

:47:03. > :47:05.back, because I enjoyed the first spell.

:47:06. > :47:07.The coaching staff have been amazing.

:47:08. > :47:15.If we play to our capabilities we can beat Rangers.

:47:16. > :47:24.If they are on it and we are on it it will make for an exciting game.

:47:25. > :47:26.I am disappointed we were not able to get over the line

:47:27. > :47:31.But come Saturday, hopefully we can lift the Cup and take a bit

:47:32. > :47:53.He is keen that his loan spell has a happy ending. A big player, has he

:47:54. > :47:57.had the right sort of influence since his arrival, or has he

:47:58. > :48:04.disrupted things by having to fit him in the? It is difficult to say

:48:05. > :48:11.he has disrupted it, but he has not had the expected impact. He was a

:48:12. > :48:14.big coup for him to go from Celtic. On the face of it, you thought him

:48:15. > :48:20.and Jason Cummings would be a deadly duo that would cause problems, but

:48:21. > :48:29.it has not happened. They have not had a partnership. He is isolated,

:48:30. > :48:36.one on one. That is the problem. He drifts into Derek Rydan's inside

:48:37. > :48:42.left position, there is no partnership between them. There have

:48:43. > :48:47.been moments of quality, but they are few and far between. You want

:48:48. > :48:51.them in the box, because he is a great goal-scorer. He has scored a

:48:52. > :48:57.few goals this season, but that is what he was bought for. Anthony

:48:58. > :49:01.Stokes was bought in the hope they would kick on. You cannot say they

:49:02. > :49:08.have done that. They have done about as well, maybe slightly better in

:49:09. > :49:14.the second part of the season. But he has got quality. Now and again,

:49:15. > :49:20.he has something special. If he scores the winning goal from a bit

:49:21. > :49:28.of brilliance today, he has been a phenomenal signing! Sometimes you

:49:29. > :49:33.come to a team and you think, I am the man, you want to show off a bit

:49:34. > :49:45.and be everywhere. You forget what you are good at, around the box.

:49:46. > :49:48.Sometimes you forget that. No Liam Henderson, will that be a decision

:49:49. > :49:55.Alan Stubbs might regret? He is on the bench, but it might be too late.

:49:56. > :50:00.Rangers scoring the first goal will make it incredibly difficult for

:50:01. > :50:07.Hibernian to get back into it, but if you have somebody like Liam

:50:08. > :50:11.Henderson, the adaptation back into a diamond, that might give them a

:50:12. > :50:17.lift. He will have thought of that. Henderson has done nothing wrong. It

:50:18. > :50:25.is purely tactical. You do feel sorry for him. If you look at Fraser

:50:26. > :50:33.Fyvie, he has not had as good a season. There is a lot of sense,

:50:34. > :50:40.this is a keen to -- 18 to keep it steady to start with. You have

:50:41. > :50:44.mentioned Fraser Fyvie, you could easily have the lunar geek in the

:50:45. > :50:51.middle of the park and Liam Henderson linking up. Fraser Fyvie,

:50:52. > :50:55.he is clearly a good player, but I don't think he has the influence

:50:56. > :50:59.that he should have. That is where the manager has a decision to make.

:51:00. > :51:06.I would rather see Henderson in the side. We touched on Kenny Miller

:51:07. > :51:14.earlier, here is an example of how he shows his match intelligence.

:51:15. > :51:27.It is instinct. You know that the ball is coming. There is a bit of

:51:28. > :51:32.luck, but remember that I saw for him, he would never have done this

:51:33. > :51:35.when he was young. He would have gone to the ball to leave. He knows

:51:36. > :51:51.where he once said. Coming free from his opponent at the

:51:52. > :51:53.right time. He was quite lethal. It is not luck when somebody finds

:51:54. > :51:59.themselves in the right position. That is instinct. It is years of

:52:00. > :52:04.experience of getting into the right areas at the right time. Goals like

:52:05. > :52:11.this are fantastic, he has always been capable. I would ask, is he a

:52:12. > :52:20.better footballer now that he has ever been? I would almost say yes.

:52:21. > :52:27.The amount of top layers that get to a level at 25, 26 and a I have got

:52:28. > :52:30.their and stay static and fade away, because it is fitness them, but he

:52:31. > :52:39.gets better and better. More intelligence every year. He is a joy

:52:40. > :52:45.to watch. So many miracle stories, it is stunning what he has done. How

:52:46. > :52:48.significant it could Rangers' inactivity be? They have not played

:52:49. > :52:57.competitively for three weeks. It is a factor. I remember when we won the

:52:58. > :53:04.league when we played them the, we went to Marbella to relaxed for four

:53:05. > :53:09.days or three days, because they's we still had ten days to prepare. We

:53:10. > :53:15.struggled to come into the game. It could be a problem for Rangers.

:53:16. > :53:20.Hibernian want to rid themselves of this Hampden Park memory. The League

:53:21. > :53:27.Cup final when they were here, they lost Ross County. The pain of the

:53:28. > :53:35.promotion chance missed. They will want to exorcise the Demons of this

:53:36. > :53:38.one. They lost out on silverware already. An amazing achievement to

:53:39. > :53:44.get to two cup finals, but to lose them both would be so painful. Yes.

:53:45. > :53:47.When you couple it with failing to win promotion, it would be a tough

:53:48. > :53:55.pill to swallow for them as a club and the support. You look at the big

:53:56. > :53:59.games, the Falkirk games, and this game, small margins. It is not as if

:54:00. > :54:04.they have not turned up and performed badly. They have stepped

:54:05. > :54:08.up and good performances, they have just not been able to see it

:54:09. > :54:12.through. They have another opportunity today. If they could win

:54:13. > :54:24.this today, it would be a good tonic for them. They do not want the

:54:25. > :54:29.horror hat-trick. Nobody has spoken about Twente. It has been about

:54:30. > :54:37.small margins will stop you look at the full cocaine, Kris Commons

:54:38. > :54:44.smacks the crossbar -- the Falkirk game. There was a team going for it

:54:45. > :54:51.and a team that got unlucky. Will it level at today? Goodness knows of.

:54:52. > :54:59.You have to make your own luck. There is the trophy being paraded

:55:00. > :55:04.around the ground. Rangers are going for their third piece of silverware

:55:05. > :55:09.of the season. They won the championship and the Challenge Cup.

:55:10. > :55:14.Can they get the Scottish Cup and Europe as well? Tony Higgins

:55:15. > :55:21.enjoying the moment. Who is your money on? As an ex-Rangers player, I

:55:22. > :55:35.have to say Rangers. It will be tight and difficult. Maybe I am

:55:36. > :55:40.wrong, maybe 1-0, Rangers. A couple of weeks ago I had a feeling that

:55:41. > :55:44.Hibernian would do it. Now I think Rangers are slight favourites. But

:55:45. > :55:48.Alan Stubbs said it has the ingredients to be a classic, I think

:55:49. > :55:54.it could go to extra time. Rangers narrowly for me. It is about three

:55:55. > :55:59.in a row. I would not be surprised with extra time, anything could

:56:00. > :56:03.happen then. But you cannot see anything other than Rangers winning,

:56:04. > :56:08.they are the shadow -- they are the favourites, without a shadow of a

:56:09. > :56:12.doubt. The teams assembling in the tunnel for the 2016 Scottish Cup

:56:13. > :56:18.final. How are Hibernian fans feeling? It will be tense in among

:56:19. > :56:25.the Hibernian support, hoping that the pain can lead to some joy in the

:56:26. > :56:28.Scottish Cup final. Mark Warburton and Alan Stubbs prepared to lead out

:56:29. > :56:31.the teams. Let's head to the match action with Craig Paterson and Ian

:56:32. > :56:43.McLeod. Good afternoon, the build-up just

:56:44. > :56:46.about done and dusted. Rangers and Hibernian have become regular foes

:56:47. > :56:49.over the past couple of years, and the latest and final chapter that

:56:50. > :56:56.will be written of this current series is the grandest of all. This

:56:57. > :57:02.is the 13th meeting since two of Scotland's biggest clubs were set on

:57:03. > :57:06.a Championship collision course, they have won six each since chapter

:57:07. > :57:08.one was written. There does not appear to be much between them. But

:57:09. > :57:28.something has to give today. Hibernian's failure to join Rangers

:57:29. > :57:35.in the top flight will be felt in the coming months. For today, it is

:57:36. > :57:40.all about wiping away the pain, ridicule and taunting, especially

:57:41. > :57:46.the inner-city division, as the years have piled up without the

:57:47. > :57:48.Scottish Cup. 114 now. It is such an Achilles heel, such a millstone for

:57:49. > :57:53.the older Hibernian fans in Achilles heel, such a millstone for

:57:54. > :57:57.particular. Some would have taken victory today ahead of promotion

:57:58. > :58:00.back to the top league. It is all they are left with now for this

:58:01. > :58:05.season at least. Rangers have been idle for three weeks, they were not

:58:06. > :58:10.exactly in Bloom for the end of the league season. They sealed the title

:58:11. > :58:14.with four games to spare. But they have not won a game since beating

:58:15. > :58:19.Celtic in the frantic, frenetic semifinal here last month. Will

:58:20. > :58:26.losing the winning feeling cost them today as it did in 1994, when they

:58:27. > :58:36.lost it and begin I did? They were without a victory in their last

:58:37. > :58:40.five. Dominic Ball is suspended, so Gedion Zelalem plays from the start.

:58:41. > :58:47.Nine of them began the semifinal. Martyn Waghorn bolsters B-side. He

:58:48. > :58:50.returns from injury just in time. Kenny Miller has won this twice,

:58:51. > :58:59.once with Rangers and once with Celtic. Barrie McKay is in the form

:59:00. > :59:03.of his life. Jason Cummings is restored to the Hibernian starting

:59:04. > :59:09.XI, he has eight goals in his last ten appearances against Rangers.

:59:10. > :59:13.Backing him to school is like printing money, he says. Will he

:59:14. > :59:23.have the Midas touch this afternoon? Calum Logan was the semifinal hero,

:59:24. > :59:31.Dylan the geek is fit and starts. -- Dylan McGeouch. James Keatings

:59:32. > :59:35.scored twice against Falkirk in the play-off. Rangers list just five

:59:36. > :59:42.substitutes, but that did not do them any harm in the last round.

:59:43. > :59:49.The referee for the big one is Stephen Maclean. The 35-year-old has

:59:50. > :59:52.described this as the pinnacle of his career as he takes charge of the

:59:53. > :00:00.Scottish Cup final for the very first time. He has taken charge of

:00:01. > :00:07.the League Cup final before, though. Jason Cummings, there. 25 goals this

:00:08. > :00:10.season. Preferred to Keatings today. Hasn't really got that partnership

:00:11. > :00:17.with Anthony Stokes working as the pair would like, as yet. This would

:00:18. > :00:22.be some stage to get that started. Kenny Miller has been there, seen

:00:23. > :00:28.it, Dummett. He'll be hoping to do it again today -- done it. 36 years

:00:29. > :00:39.of age, Kenny Miller. 37 in December. Still such an important

:00:40. > :00:44.player for this Rangers side. The formalities just about complete.

:00:45. > :00:49.Lovely day on Glasgow's south side, for a game of football. And it is

:00:50. > :00:57.one of the biggest games of Footballer of the Year. The 131st

:00:58. > :01:05.Scottish Cup final. Despite the clubs involved, for the first time,

:01:06. > :01:10.being contested by two teams outside of Scotland's top league. We know we

:01:11. > :01:17.will have a lower league winner for the first time since East Fife

:01:18. > :01:26.lifted it in 1938. Rangers shooting East in this first half in the blue,

:01:27. > :01:29.Hibs in the green and white. The second time Rangers and Hibs side

:01:30. > :01:37.have clashed in the Scottish Cup final. The other one in 79 went to

:01:38. > :01:41.not one, but two replays. Two goalless draws followed by a 3-2

:01:42. > :01:47.Rangers win at the end of an epic that required extra time. The cup

:01:48. > :01:51.went to Ibrox. Paterson has played for both these teams, won the

:01:52. > :01:57.Scottish Cup as well, and is well placed to tell us how this might go.

:01:58. > :02:01.I have absolutely no idea and it could be penalties. These teams are

:02:02. > :02:05.so evenly matched. That's an early challenge for Anthony Stokes. The

:02:06. > :02:09.referee doesn't want to start dishing out yellow cards at this

:02:10. > :02:14.stage, but Stokes must be careful. One more of those and he will be on

:02:15. > :02:19.a yellow and then he will be walking a tightrope. 2009 was the last time

:02:20. > :02:25.the Scottish Cup went to Ibrox. This is the first chance for the rages

:02:26. > :02:26.supporters to witness wannabes finals since -- the Rangers

:02:27. > :02:37.supporters. Had some refurbishment since the

:02:38. > :02:47.oldest trophy visited that particular part of the capital. No

:02:48. > :02:54.matter who wins, it will be the fifth new Victor of the tournament

:02:55. > :03:02.for the first time since the 1950s. Then it was Hearts, Falkirk, Celtic,

:03:03. > :03:12.Rangers and Hibs. There's a few challenges rattling in

:03:13. > :03:17.early doors. That's what you want to see, isn't it? If the referee can

:03:18. > :03:22.see the challenge is genuine, player going for the ball, he lets it go.

:03:23. > :03:29.For me it just adds a little bit more to the contest. Kenny Miller to

:03:30. > :03:37.McGeouch, who went off injured. It has been an injury ravaged season.

:03:38. > :03:48.Here is Martyn Waghorn. Instant impact this season.

:03:49. > :03:54.Four games against Rangers Alan Stubbs does tend to set the side up

:03:55. > :04:01.the way he has today. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Here is

:04:02. > :04:06.Cummings for Stokes. Hasn't really got anyone to hit in the middle,

:04:07. > :04:15.Stokes might fancy it himself, and he does! And why not? Is it on? Is

:04:16. > :04:21.it on? Hibs lead the Scottish Cup final! What a start. It is a finish

:04:22. > :04:26.from Stokes, but I tell you what, it just seemed far too easy. The

:04:27. > :04:30.referee plays a good advantage. The referee could have given a free

:04:31. > :04:34.kick, you says play on. Anthony Stokes just drives into the box

:04:35. > :04:39.coming he's not con fronted, and he knocks it by the goalkeeper into the

:04:40. > :04:44.bottom corner. It's poor, poor defending, but I'll tell you what,

:04:45. > :04:49.it's exactly the start Hibs were looking. Like Anthony Stokes, who is

:04:50. > :04:55.on loan from Celtic, put civilian in front in the Scottish Cup final. --

:04:56. > :05:00.puts Hibs in front. The stuff that dreams are made of. A goal on three

:05:01. > :05:03.minutes. And Alan Stubbs could scarcely have dreamt of a better

:05:04. > :05:12.start last night when he went to his bed. He's come under fire now and

:05:13. > :05:20.again, has Stokes, since he made the loan switch in the winter. While he

:05:21. > :05:24.hasn't set the heather on fire, if he helps win the Scottish Cup for

:05:25. > :05:32.Hibs, nobody in green and white will give a jot about that. It's his

:05:33. > :05:37.eighth goal of the season, his third, all told, against Rangers. He

:05:38. > :05:39.did not score for Celtic against Rangers. All of them have come in

:05:40. > :05:52.the green and white of Hibernian. It's a massive shot in the arm for

:05:53. > :05:55.Hibs. They were talking about it beforehand, if they had a hope of

:05:56. > :06:01.winning the trophy today, it was they who would have to score first.

:06:02. > :06:05.Well, they have done. Certainly a major bonus. I think both managers

:06:06. > :06:11.realise the importance of getting the first goal, and then you set the

:06:12. > :06:14.tempo of the game. The opposition have to push forward to try to get

:06:15. > :06:21.an equaliser and that leaves them open for the counterattack. Exciting

:06:22. > :06:27.period of play for Hibs. Mark Warburton will be seizing the nature

:06:28. > :06:37.of that strike. Stokes just meandered his way through the

:06:38. > :06:41.defence -- Mark Warburton will be seething. But he takes it with

:06:42. > :06:48.aplomb. The defender does not come across and confront him. As you say,

:06:49. > :06:54.dream start for Hibs. Remember they have not played a competitive match

:06:55. > :06:57.the three weeks. Hibs on the other hand has been playing

:06:58. > :07:01.ultracompetitive matches. So you have two sides of the coin, Hibs

:07:02. > :07:06.could be tired, but Rangers perhaps not at the races as a result of

:07:07. > :07:09.that. People will say Rangers have not come out of the blocks quick

:07:10. > :07:14.enough. It was a decent finish but really poor defending by Rangers.

:07:15. > :07:21.Not something they've been guilty of often this season. Ten finals in the

:07:22. > :07:24.Scottish Cup in a row that Hibs have lost. Jason Cummings is capable from

:07:25. > :07:53.there. He was the Rangers Player of the

:07:54. > :08:11.Year last season, McGregor. The Hibs fans are making some noise.

:08:12. > :08:19.Understandably so. Here is Andy Halliday.

:08:20. > :08:32.Well, immediately in the semifinal, they just got at Celtic. They

:08:33. > :08:37.haven't been able to do this today. Hibs are going to drop off the game,

:08:38. > :08:41.when Rangers have possession they will allow them to keep the ball in

:08:42. > :08:46.front of them, but the minute they had the ball, the back three became

:08:47. > :08:48.a back five with Lewis Stevenson on the left. Leaving very little room

:08:49. > :08:54.for the Rangers forward to work their way through. The long ball

:08:55. > :09:10.easily dealt with by Fontaine. Stevenson beats Waghorn to it.

:09:11. > :09:17.Danny Wilson sold Kenny Miller a bit short, there. Gray wins it back for

:09:18. > :09:27.Hibs, and gets it back from Cummings. Stokes has made an early

:09:28. > :09:32.run into the box. David Gray started his career as a winner. I thought he

:09:33. > :09:37.was going to go to the byline, take the last defender on, and dive into

:09:38. > :09:48.this challenge -- started his career as winger. It's not a booking, is

:09:49. > :09:52.it? No yellow card. The last team to lose the Scottish Cup final when

:09:53. > :09:58.taking the lead was Dunfermline in 2004. It was Henrik Larsson's last

:09:59. > :10:03.game to Celtic. Celtic lifted the trophy. But the team that has scored

:10:04. > :10:11.first in the Scottish Cup final since, has won the trophy. It's Paul

:10:12. > :10:18.Hanlon. Stalwart of this Easter Road club. Here is another, in Lewis

:10:19. > :10:22.Stevenson. He's looking for Cummings, who is going to get there,

:10:23. > :10:31.he's on his own, so was Stokes earlier, though. Not quite. That's

:10:32. > :10:37.another chance for Hibs. Jason Cummings gets himself into the box.

:10:38. > :10:40.Robert Kiernan does not get there, Cummings drags it back, maybe should

:10:41. > :10:45.have pulled the trigger slightly earlier. Rangers crowd him out, it

:10:46. > :10:50.comes back to Anthony Stokes, he misses the target. That was the

:10:51. > :10:55.fastest Scottish Cup final since Colin Cameron scored against Rangers

:10:56. > :11:00.at Celtic Park in 98. Last time Rangers lost a Scottish Cup final,

:11:01. > :11:05.as the corner came in and there was a shout for handball... Really

:11:06. > :11:08.important period for Rangers. They will not want to concede against PLO

:11:09. > :11:12.they need to retain the composure they have been showing.

:11:13. > :11:18.They need to retain the composure they have been showing since the

:11:19. > :11:23.start of the season. Their strength is passing the ball. Which they are

:11:24. > :11:28.doing, here. Miller to Zelalem, on loan from Arsenal. Barrie McKay

:11:29. > :11:34.scored a wonder goal against Hibs just after his wonder goal against

:11:35. > :11:42.Celtic in the semifinal. Here is Kenny Miller. Tavernier. Overhit

:11:43. > :11:47.set. That's the problem, wide areas. Jason Holt, the only player in the

:11:48. > :11:52.box. He's not going to win too many headers. Go, what a pass from

:11:53. > :12:00.Stokes, here is Cummings. Wilson does enough. Sumptuous ball from

:12:01. > :12:04.Stokes. Terrific ball, and great defending from Danny Wilson. He knew

:12:05. > :12:11.it was one-on-one, is Cummings gets clear, he is through on goal. He

:12:12. > :12:16.stood his ground and saw it off. We did wonder whether Hibs would be up

:12:17. > :12:20.for it today. Such a downer of a week having missed out on a motion

:12:21. > :12:27.in the play-offs, losing the League Cup final couple of months back. --

:12:28. > :12:33.lost out on promotion. Jason Holt has won a free kick as well. I think

:12:34. > :12:35.Paul Hanlon makes the initial mistake, tries to rectify it. Gets

:12:36. > :12:40.there as quick as he can, but the mistake, tries to rectify it. Gets

:12:41. > :12:45.minute Jason Holt gets the crossing, any kind of contact and the referee

:12:46. > :12:48.is going to give a free kick. It's been a troubled opening 11 and a

:12:49. > :12:53.half minutes for Rangers, but it could be wiped away here. We know

:12:54. > :12:59.how good James Tavernier is from this kind of situation. He might

:13:00. > :13:09.have preferred it on the other side of the box. First nervy time for

:13:10. > :13:20.Conrad Logan. Slightly awkward as well. Could go one side or the

:13:21. > :13:31.other. It is going to be Halliday. A roar of relief from the Hibs fans.

:13:32. > :13:40.Zelalem to Holt. Helped hearts to the title last year. Overhit by

:13:41. > :13:47.Danny Wilson. That's April free kick, isn't it? Flick on, there.

:13:48. > :13:56.Head commonly, impossible for James Tavernier to know where that ball

:13:57. > :13:59.was going to hit him -- head, knee. Stokes has made his way to the edge

:14:00. > :14:05.of the technical area for the first time.

:14:06. > :14:10.-- Alan Stubbs has made his way to the edge of the technical area. His

:14:11. > :14:18.future is up in the air, it would seem.

:14:19. > :14:32.Miller. Zelalem. First time for Barrie McKay, he was looking for

:14:33. > :14:39.Miller. Very difficult to work your way down

:14:40. > :14:40.the central area because Hibs have so many green jersies behind the

:14:41. > :14:55.ball. He didn't win the Scottish Cup with

:14:56. > :15:24.Celtic, Alan Stubbs. He did win the League Cup, and a title as well.

:15:25. > :15:30.It came off the Rangers defender so he was onside. He tried to take it

:15:31. > :15:36.early. He is trying to lob that over the goalkeeper.

:15:37. > :15:41.Hibs' two wins against Rangers this season came at Easter Road. Though

:15:42. > :15:48.they did lose in the Challenge Cup at the start of the season, way back

:15:49. > :15:52.last July. 6-2 for Rangers, who get their first corner of the afternoon

:15:53. > :15:56.here. Rangers normally take them short, and here we go again. Zelalem

:15:57. > :16:08.to Tavernier. Certainly capable from that kind of

:16:09. > :16:11.distance, Andy Halliday. He doesn't get enough on it. It's a poor

:16:12. > :16:29.strike. Usually better than that. Mark Warburton is Scotland's manager

:16:30. > :16:31.of the year. That was announced a couple of weeks ago. Plenty to think

:16:32. > :16:35.about now. He will trust his couple of weeks ago. Plenty to think

:16:36. > :16:40.players. They have come from behind. They know how to get the job done.

:16:41. > :16:41.He also know this is is a final. A big opportunity, especially with

:16:42. > :17:16.European football up for grabs. John McGinn, who, when Hibs beat

:17:17. > :17:19.Rangers at Easter Road, was exceptional. Stokes has space again.

:17:20. > :17:29.He is going to take on Kiernan again. Cummings.

:17:30. > :17:34.Rangers will have to chase the game at some point. It is probably too

:17:35. > :17:39.early to start thinking about that now. They would love to level it up

:17:40. > :17:43.as soon as possible. When you have players the quality of Anthony

:17:44. > :17:47.Stokes and Jason Cummings, who can do you harm, you have to be very

:17:48. > :17:50.careful. Watch Anthony Stokes the minute James Tavernier bombs

:17:51. > :17:54.forward, he comes out into this wide-left area, there is a big hole

:17:55. > :17:58.there and every time he gets on the ball he is driving at Rob Kiernan in

:17:59. > :18:06.that central defensive area. Stokes looks in the mood.

:18:07. > :18:16.He wouldn't have been able to play today if Celtic had beaten Rangers

:18:17. > :18:21.in the semis. An incredible statistic came from that semifinal,

:18:22. > :18:26.Rangers had 63% of the possession against Celtic.

:18:27. > :18:43.That was easy for Logan. Once again, Hibs have so many bodies. There is a

:18:44. > :18:49.swarm in there and it is going to take a pinpoint pass to break them

:18:50. > :19:11.down. Tavernier gets the better of John McGinn.

:19:12. > :19:23.If you are joining us late, Anthony Stokes with a goal on three minutes.

:19:24. > :19:33.Hibernian lead the 131st Scottish Cup Final.

:19:34. > :19:43.113 Scottish Cup Finals have gone past since they last won it.

:19:44. > :19:48.Barrie McKay is in the Scotland squad for the end-of-season

:19:49. > :20:23.friendlies, so too Lee Wallace. That was not a great ball. Stokes.

:20:24. > :20:27.Still in there. Lee Wallace nips in ahead of Cummings. Rangers do not

:20:28. > :20:31.look easy at the back. They are all over the place just now, playing

:20:32. > :21:38.balls across their own box and inviting pressure.

:21:39. > :22:22.You are 1-0 ahead, you need to start dictating the pace of the game.

:22:23. > :22:41.John McGinn made his international debut here for Scotland against

:22:42. > :22:48.Denmark a couple of months ago and he was Man of the Match. Hibs, of

:22:49. > :22:55.course, consigned to another season in the Championship. That will be

:22:56. > :23:30.made all the easier if they can lift the Cup today.

:23:31. > :23:40.That's a half-decent effort, but winning the ball, driving at the

:23:41. > :23:44.Rangers defence, gets caught under his feet, goes for a chip and it is

:23:45. > :23:49.on the top of the net. After that challenge that we spoke about, Mark

:23:50. > :23:53.Warburton sprinted out of his dug-out to remonstrate with his

:23:54. > :24:16.players to get into the battle, fight their way into this game.

:24:17. > :24:22.Rangers off the pace, Craig? They seem to be. The early goal doesn't

:24:23. > :24:26.help. Then they started playing the ball back to front, which doesn't

:24:27. > :24:30.suit them. It is about Andy Halliday getting on the ball, players like

:24:31. > :24:32.that, to start to dictate the game. Rangers need to up the pace a little

:24:33. > :25:02.bit. Lee Wallace has been a major part in

:25:03. > :25:13.the journey that Rangers have been on for the last four years.

:25:14. > :25:22.Jason Holt has managed 12 goals this season. Andy Halliday is knocking on

:25:23. > :25:27.the door of double figures, too. It's not just been Waghorn who has

:25:28. > :25:33.been finding the net. Kenny Miller has 20. Waghorn has 28. When your

:25:34. > :25:37.full-backs have got nearly 20 between them, that shows you what a

:25:38. > :25:41.weapon they are. Hibs knew that at the start of the game. The back

:25:42. > :25:48.three is designed to stop Tavernier and Wallace bombing on and causing

:25:49. > :25:56.you all sorts of problems. Tavernier has 15, Wallace has 9. Halliday has

:25:57. > :25:57.9. Holt 12. McKay 9. 20 and 28 for Miller and Waghorn respectively.

:25:58. > :26:06.That's some return. 25 minutes in to the final. Anthony

:26:07. > :26:36.Stokes' goal is the difference. I think he tried to hold, but he

:26:37. > :26:39.just went slightly too early. Lewis Stevenson knocks it forward and you

:26:40. > :26:40.can see in the cut of the pitch, he is just the wrong side of the

:26:41. > :27:22.Rangers defence. When Rangers start to build from the

:27:23. > :27:26.back, look how close Fraser Fyvie gets to Andy Halliday. They are

:27:27. > :27:32.trying to keep him out of the equation.

:27:33. > :27:46.It's opened up a bit for McKay. Waghorn.

:27:47. > :27:57.The ball in is good. It is Kenny Miller. It is 1-1 in the final.

:27:58. > :28:02.Rangers' Mr Dependable does it again! It is a great header from

:28:03. > :28:06.Kenny Miller. The ball in from Tavernier is an absolute peach. When

:28:07. > :28:10.you don't have big strikers, you have to fizz the ball in there. That

:28:11. > :28:15.is a beauty. That is a belter of a header. Conrad Logan, he dives, but

:28:16. > :28:23.he has no chance of getting there. A quality cross. Brilliant header.

:28:24. > :28:32.Kenny Miller does what he does and what he's been doing for years! For

:28:33. > :28:36.club and country. It's a tremendous header, but it was all about the

:28:37. > :28:41.ball in from James Tavernier. As you say, Craig. It is Kenny Miller

:28:42. > :28:44.against Darren McGregor at the back post, you would fancy McGregor, but

:28:45. > :28:50.the quality of the ball, Miller is on the run, he is up early, holds

:28:51. > :28:54.down McGregor, and what a finish. Came at a really good time. There is

:28:55. > :28:57.never a bad time to score in a Scottish Cup Final. Rangers had seen

:28:58. > :29:00.more of the ball and it was important, from their point of view,

:29:01. > :29:05.that they took advantage of that, and they have. Stokes. Up the other

:29:06. > :29:14.end. What an effort! He's so unlucky. Hibs were almost back in

:29:15. > :29:21.front. This is turning into an incredible game. Stokes... What a

:29:22. > :29:26.hit! Beats the goalkeeper. How unlucky is that? Cracks off the

:29:27. > :29:29.post, spins out. A magnificent effort. His manager can't believe

:29:30. > :29:40.it. The width of Wes Foderingham's post

:29:41. > :29:47.has saved Rangers, having just got themselves level. Set up nicely

:29:48. > :29:55.here. Not even on the half-hour mark, yet. Cummings gives chase, but

:29:56. > :30:00.he's offside again. Now, what is the Hibs reaction? We got a taste of it

:30:01. > :30:04.there, with the effort from Stokes. What a ball in. Great effort from

:30:05. > :30:10.Kenny Miller. Got to be brave to come in, there. The manager is a

:30:11. > :30:17.happy man. His team have not started well, now they've got themselves

:30:18. > :30:22.right back in the game. Miller, who scored in the semi, looking for a

:30:23. > :30:33.third Scottish Cup winners medal. Having picked up one either side of

:30:34. > :30:36.the great Glasgow divide. Not sure how well that smoke bomb is going to

:30:37. > :30:55.go down with the authorities. Lewis Stevenson who has stunned

:30:56. > :31:01.Brealey to keep it in play. -- done brilliantly to keep it in play. Man

:31:02. > :31:06.of the Match in the League Cup final as a teenager, Alan Stubbs with

:31:07. > :31:12.Kevin Thomson just in front, a player coach, these days. Back at

:31:13. > :31:18.Hibs for the third time. Of course he won the Scottish Cup with Rangers

:31:19. > :31:26.in 2008. Cummings, he is looking to Stokes. Not many are beating Lee

:31:27. > :31:29.Wallace for pace, though. Took a great position, Lee Wallace, saw the

:31:30. > :31:40.danger, tucked in behind his centre-backs.

:31:41. > :31:45.He's a big game player, Kenny Miller. His last international match

:31:46. > :31:51.was against England at Wembley. He scored a terrific goal, that time.

:31:52. > :31:56.Called time on his international career thereafter. 69 caps and 18

:31:57. > :32:00.goals. But so often in derby matches, big cup ties, and this big

:32:01. > :32:06.final, he has stepped up when it matters. He may be 36 but he plays

:32:07. > :32:10.as if he's years younger. He has an energy and an appetite for the game.

:32:11. > :32:19.Being a coach, you want to lead by example, and that's exactly what he

:32:20. > :32:29.does. Zelalem. For Waghorn, who's going to get there. Only just. His

:32:30. > :32:36.bonus is a corner kick. I wonder if Rangers will stick this one in the

:32:37. > :32:41.mixture for a change. They like to play it short. Danny Wilson going

:32:42. > :32:48.forward, he would certainly be the main target. It may well be a day

:32:49. > :32:51.for simplicity. Rob Kiernan is going there as well. Normally he doesn't

:32:52. > :32:54.for simplicity. Rob Kiernan is going bother. Now there are two decent

:32:55. > :33:04.targets for Rangers. Harry McKay to take. Oh, Miller's got a free

:33:05. > :33:12.header! What a let off the Hibs. Both sides have struck woodwork.

:33:13. > :33:17.Here come Hibs on the counter with McGinn, looking for Cummings, a bit

:33:18. > :33:21.too much on it. What a final we have ourselves here. Incredibly poor

:33:22. > :33:26.defending again at a set piece. Kenny Miller is a dangerous player.

:33:27. > :33:31.You cannot give him a free header. He is so lucky. Very similar to

:33:32. > :33:37.Anthony Stokes, does everything just about right, and it cracks back off

:33:38. > :33:43.he would work. Horrendous defending by Hibs. It's a free header. Umpteen

:33:44. > :33:49.bodies back, extra men in the box, people are standing and looking at

:33:50. > :33:58.each other. The tide has most definitely turned. Rangers so often

:33:59. > :34:02.taking the short corner, as Craig was saying, Hibs perhaps keeping an

:34:03. > :34:04.eye on the big men, didn't bargain for Kenny Miller, left of the

:34:05. > :34:23.penalty spot. 12 to the break. Could be 2-2, we are watching, here.

:34:24. > :34:28.It has been decent stuff. We figured these two teams would be turning in

:34:29. > :34:32.decent fare. Here is Waghorn, he will test Stevenson. Showed too much

:34:33. > :34:42.of it to Stevenson. Tavernier. To Zelalem.

:34:43. > :34:50.He's such a dangerous weapon for Rangers down that right, as Wallace

:34:51. > :34:54.is on the left, of course. Important period of the game for Hibernian,

:34:55. > :34:59.you suspect. For sure. Rangers look like they fancy it now. They are on

:35:00. > :35:04.top. Hibs were snapping into tackles, winning the ball, earlier,

:35:05. > :35:10.now Rangers are starting to take over in the midfield area and they

:35:11. > :35:16.start to look much more dangerous. Four energy sapping play-off matches

:35:17. > :35:22.in recent times, Hibernian. Two against Raith Rovers, two against

:35:23. > :35:28.Falkirk. This is Liam Fontaine. He scored in the League Cup final, of

:35:29. > :35:36.course. The Hibs goal in the 2-1 defeat to Ross County. Dylan

:35:37. > :35:40.McGeouch, who we have barely mentioned. 35 in. Fraser Fyvie.

:35:41. > :35:52.Stevenson. Went through a couple, there. Just

:35:53. > :36:04.done enough. Here is Fyvie. Good work by Zelalem. Looking a bit more

:36:05. > :36:08.measured in their build-up that time, Hibs. I just think Fraser

:36:09. > :36:13.Fyvie should have got the ball into the box. They were two on two, in

:36:14. > :36:22.that situation just give your strikers a chance. That's ambitious.

:36:23. > :36:30.that situation just give your Kenny Miller's 21st of the season.

:36:31. > :36:32.His third spell at Rangers, his second was by far and away the most

:36:33. > :36:49.fruitful. It all began for Kenny Miller at

:36:50. > :36:58.Hibs. Against Motherwell, he made his senior debut. That's a sore one

:36:59. > :37:03.for Tavernier. John McGinn has got to be careful, coming running into

:37:04. > :37:07.the back. I can't believe how much room Kenny Miller has got, acres of

:37:08. > :37:45.space, he pulls off. That is really unlucky.

:37:46. > :37:53.Hibs looking it bit edgy now. They have stopped passing the ball. When

:37:54. > :37:56.a player gets the ball at the back early in the game, there are two or

:37:57. > :38:01.three to play it too, and you work it to the front. Now when they get

:38:02. > :38:02.the ball, they look up and they are under pressure, and they just have

:38:03. > :38:26.to clear it. Is the scoreline about right? I

:38:27. > :38:31.think it's fair. Hibs started sharp, got the goal. Rangers gradually

:38:32. > :38:36.started to grind their way back into the game. I don't think either

:38:37. > :39:02.manager will be too happy at the way they conceded.

:39:03. > :39:10.The winners today not only get to lift the Scottish Cup, but also be

:39:11. > :39:14.playing European football next season. They go into next season's

:39:15. > :39:20.Europa League at the second qualifying round. That, by the way,

:39:21. > :39:24.is the round after Aberdeen and Hearts, who finished second and

:39:25. > :39:27.third in the Premiership. It's great, if you get through the cut

:39:28. > :39:28.you've got an extra couple of weeks to get ready and really prepare,

:39:29. > :39:49.games under your belt. Rangers have it back, and it's Danny

:39:50. > :40:08.Wilson. Here goes Barry Mackay, the

:40:09. > :40:11.fleetfooted Barry McKay. Rangers now need to get McKay involved. Haven't

:40:12. > :40:17.seen a great deal of him. Taking on David Gray, got clear, but David

:40:18. > :40:19.Gray gets back, keeps him under pressure, and the final ball is not

:40:20. > :40:35.good enough. Today's strike was Kenny Miller's

:40:36. > :40:44.13th in what is his 22nd appearance for Rangers against Hibs.

:40:45. > :41:00.Cancelled out Anthony Stokes's early strike inside four minutes.

:41:01. > :41:07.It was a real dramatic collapse by Hibernian as the season got into the

:41:08. > :41:12.business end of the championship. They lost three games in a week.

:41:13. > :41:16.Went from winter to spring. Including a 3-0 reverse at home to

:41:17. > :41:23.Morton. Struggled to get going since then. Here comes Anthony Stokes, who

:41:24. > :41:26.is in again, here! Equal to it this time is Wes Foderingham. I think

:41:27. > :41:30.this is really good save. Thought he was going far post again. Tries to

:41:31. > :41:34.catch the goalkeeper at the near post, and he gets a really strong

:41:35. > :41:39.right hand on this. It looks bound for the bottom corner. That's a

:41:40. > :41:46.great save. Could have had a hat-trick, Stokes, who hit the post

:41:47. > :41:51.earlier. Here comes the corner. Desperately tries to keep it in,

:41:52. > :41:59.which he has done. In the McGregor, now Cummings! Foderingham again.

:42:00. > :42:08.Suddenly the pendulum is swinging Hibs's way again. It is away from

:42:09. > :42:17.Stokes, though. Another chance. Well, incredible pressure. Darren

:42:18. > :42:20.McGregor knocks this ball in, it is an absolute beauty. Stokes just

:42:21. > :42:26.can't make up the ground to get it on target. And Jason Cummings, what

:42:27. > :42:31.a chance he had earlier, but again Foderingham got their quick and

:42:32. > :42:34.smothered his effort. Lost a calamitous goal at Easter Road

:42:35. > :42:39.recently, Wes Foderingham, crossed ball by Anthony Stokes that night in

:42:40. > :42:41.Edinburgh which he almost patted into his own net. Some big saves,

:42:42. > :43:12.there, though. Conrad Logan, who was the hero in

:43:13. > :43:13.the shoot out in the semis. Foderingham coming out to meet

:43:14. > :43:33.Cummings, there. Conrad Logan at some point in the

:43:34. > :43:34.semifinals seemed to be having a personal jewel with Billy McKay, the

:43:35. > :43:48.Dundee United striker. Here come Hibernian, this is

:43:49. > :43:58.Cummings, he is chopped down, there. David Gray is wide on the right.

:43:59. > :44:05.Fyvie. McGinn did well. He was fouled by Zelalem. Important for

:44:06. > :44:08.Hibs, set pieces. You look at the three big centre-backs, they have

:44:09. > :44:11.definitely got an edge in height. But they need quality. Late

:44:12. > :44:17.challenge, doesn't make contact with the ball. Skips over but the referee

:44:18. > :44:21.awards the free kick. All three centre-backs are in there, this is

:44:22. > :44:29.an area where Hibs will believe they can cause problems for Rangers.

:44:30. > :44:33.Interesting John McGinn didn't go down. We saw something in the

:44:34. > :44:40.play-off match the other night, it looked like a foul, certainly, the

:44:41. > :44:45.Kilmarnock player didn't go down, the referee decided it wasn't a

:44:46. > :44:53.penalty. John McGinn's free kick for Hibs. A way by Kiernan. Dealt with

:44:54. > :45:01.by Kenny Miller. Can't argue with that. Waghorn has McKay over to his

:45:02. > :45:18.right, if he can find him. Kenny Miller, picking up the scraps.

:45:19. > :45:25.One minute you think the teams are secure at the back. The next, they

:45:26. > :45:28.are cut open. Neither looks defensively set, you know. Neither

:45:29. > :45:30.team play that way. They will take their chances and get the ball in

:45:31. > :45:40.the forward areas. Jason Cummings. He's dinked it over the bar but we

:45:41. > :45:44.will forgive him that one, after his semifinal penalty. I think it was

:45:45. > :45:49.one of those ones where he wasn't set for the shot. He did something

:45:50. > :45:54.similar at Falkirk in the play-off and rattled it back off the bar. On

:45:55. > :46:14.44 minutes-plus, he was quite entitled to try his luck.

:46:15. > :46:20.It's half-time in the Scottish Cup Final. Anthony Stokes giving Hibs

:46:21. > :46:26.the dream start inside four minutes. A lovely finish. Not great defending

:46:27. > :46:31.from a Rangers point of view. And Kenny Miller levelling up the final,

:46:32. > :46:35.a wonderful header, even better cross from James Tavernier, set up

:46:36. > :46:42.the opportunity, Stokes with his eighth of the season, Miller with

:46:43. > :46:46.his 21st. It's been an exciting 45 minutes with both those players also

:46:47. > :46:50.hitting woodwork. It's been some first half. 45 minutes at least

:46:51. > :47:01.still to come at the National Stadium. At half-time, it is Rangers

:47:02. > :47:03.1, Hibernian 1. They have produced some memorable matches, these two,

:47:04. > :47:08.over the last couple of seasons. This is another one. Anthony Stokes

:47:09. > :47:12.strikes for Hibs inside three minutes, as Rangers backed off. Back

:47:13. > :47:17.came Rangers. James Tavernier's cross and it was a battle between

:47:18. > :47:22.Kenny Miller and Darren McGregor, won by the former Scotland striker,

:47:23. > :47:29.a crushing header. Past Conrad Logan. The frame of the goal rattled

:47:30. > :47:34.a couple of times as well. A half-time scoreline of Rangers 1,

:47:35. > :47:37.Hibs 1. Let's get the thoughts of Pat Nevin, Michael Stewart and

:47:38. > :47:42.Ronald de Boer. Hibs were threatening to run away with it.

:47:43. > :47:48.Rangers will be happy to be back in the game? For sure. I expected a

:47:49. > :48:01.tight game. Technical from the Hibs side. We saw a lot of chances. Great

:48:02. > :48:06.for an objective football watcher. Are you trying to put words in his

:48:07. > :48:12.mouth? It has been a great game. Right from the off, it's been a

:48:13. > :48:16.fascinating watch, like Ronald says. The tactical battle, in terms of

:48:17. > :48:20.Hibs going to three at the back. To start with, their game plan worked a

:48:21. > :48:22.treat. They were able to counter on Rangers and cause them problems in

:48:23. > :48:26.the final third. Rangers dominating Rangers and cause them problems in

:48:27. > :48:31.possession and on the balance of it, Hibs have had the better chances,

:48:32. > :48:34.but 1-1 is a fair reflection. Hibs started well and finished well. But

:48:35. > :48:40.they have created a lot in that 45 minutes? It is exactly the tactics

:48:41. > :48:43.what we expected to happen. If you play three at the back, you have to

:48:44. > :48:50.soak up a lot of pressure. Hibs have play three at the back, you have to

:48:51. > :48:55.two strikers up there so they will play on the break and they played

:48:56. > :49:02.really well on the break. The other thing as well, Hibs managed to get

:49:03. > :49:06.the ball in that final area of Rangers' midfield and Hibs breaking

:49:07. > :49:13.from high up as well. Interesting. Exciting. Amazing game so far. No

:49:14. > :49:16.surprise that there's been goals. Only surprise is there's not been

:49:17. > :49:19.more goals. A great moment for Anthony Stokes inside three minutes.

:49:20. > :49:30.It is a shocker defensively for Rangers? We talked about him liking

:49:31. > :49:43.to go to the left. Of course, this is quite poor defending. A good

:49:44. > :49:48.finish. The defender has to come in. Anthony Stokes has been able to walk

:49:49. > :49:53.into the edge of the six-yard box, unchallenged and Kiernan doesn't

:49:54. > :49:57.close the space off. He has a free strike and Foderingham can't get to

:49:58. > :50:05.it. The defender has to commit the striker. It is two against one. Go

:50:06. > :50:13.tight, outside, I will have the inside. You can overcover as a

:50:14. > :50:20.defender. Let's not forget... He walks into the six-yard box and he

:50:21. > :50:25.gets a goal. It was a pass. It wasn't a shot. That is the thing

:50:26. > :50:32.about Anthony Stokes, a bit of class. He can keep calm in that

:50:33. > :50:38.situation. That was symptomatic of the way the game was going at that

:50:39. > :50:43.stage. Rangers equalised. Kenny Miller, we spoke about him before

:50:44. > :50:49.the match. Yes. It was about who wanted it more. That is desire. A

:50:50. > :50:54.fantastic ball from James Tavernier. You watch Kenny Miller here. That

:50:55. > :51:01.ball comes out, he wants to get in there. He gets in front of Darren

:51:02. > :51:05.McGregor, who has to be stronger. He's expecting, thinking Hanlon is

:51:06. > :51:12.going to get it. It's a fantastic goal. He jumped early and... As a

:51:13. > :51:17.defender, you are thinking, go and wipe the forward out there. Yes. If

:51:18. > :51:21.you challenge him, you will put him off a bit. McGregor, because he

:51:22. > :51:32.expects the guy in front of him to win it, he has ducked below it.

:51:33. > :51:40.Still a great goal. Stubbs will not be happy. That cross has come from

:51:41. > :51:43.deep. That cross has come from ten or 15 yards deeper and that is

:51:44. > :51:47.because they have too many guys on the edge of the box. Stokes and

:51:48. > :51:51.Miller have scored. They might have had a double. This was a great

:51:52. > :51:56.strike from Anthony Stokes. We heard about how desperate he was to do

:51:57. > :52:02.well today. He is having some game. This is what we are talking about.

:52:03. > :52:06.It's a fantastic strike. They have done that really well. Question

:52:07. > :52:11.marks about Anthony Stokes. He hasn't stepped up to the plate

:52:12. > :52:15.enough. But today, so far, Alan Stubbs talks about big-game players

:52:16. > :52:22.a lot. He talks about Stokes being one of them. Today, in the first

:52:23. > :52:26.half, Stokes has been that for Hibs. You see the question marks over the

:52:27. > :52:32.defending of Rangers. When you lose the ball, you have to be tight.

:52:33. > :52:39.Every time the Hibs players, they have all the time to get the ball to

:52:40. > :52:43.feet and then to run to defenders and they should be so much more

:52:44. > :52:51.tighter when they lose the ball and that is a big problem for Rangers.

:52:52. > :52:54.We are sounding like fully-paid-up members of the Kenny Miller

:52:55. > :52:59.Appreciation Society. This was some movement but you would have to be

:53:00. > :53:04.questioning the defending? Yes. There is a reason why he is standing

:53:05. > :53:07.in that much space. Mark Warburton and his whole team have worked on

:53:08. > :53:15.that. Have a look at where he is standing. He knows where he wants to

:53:16. > :53:20.go. He is shouting everyone to get out of the way. He gets a block off

:53:21. > :53:30.his own players. That is not a fluke, I think that was worked

:53:31. > :53:33.there. 1100%. Well done, Kenny. A really good header. On top of that,

:53:34. > :53:43.well done the backroom staff. Great working. They know that Hibs can be

:53:44. > :53:47.weak at corners. It was a tactical success for Hibs right from the

:53:48. > :53:53.start. The only disappointment is that they haven't made more of it?

:53:54. > :53:59.Exactly. Rangers, before the goal they made, they had no clue on how

:54:00. > :54:06.to break the wall of Hibs. Hibs were dangerous every time. No pressure on

:54:07. > :54:10.the ball. They could choose anybody and this is what would be killing

:54:11. > :54:20.for Rangers. If this goes in, it is 2-0. Then it is gone. Here again,

:54:21. > :54:25.all the way, Stokes can walk into the box and shoot. This was terrible

:54:26. > :54:30.defending and good play by Hibs. We know Rangers want to play expansive

:54:31. > :54:34.football. That is what I was talking about before the game. Ball was

:54:35. > :54:38.playing in the six position against Celtic and he did it really well.

:54:39. > :54:43.The two centre-halves are not great defenders. Kiernan was getting

:54:44. > :54:54.dragged into areas he shouldn't be and Hibs have exploited that. You

:54:55. > :55:00.look at Halliday and Holt... Zelalem is back in there and that is not his

:55:01. > :55:07.position. Wilson and Kiernan are afraid to give the space away at the

:55:08. > :55:12.back... They are not quick. That is why Stokes and Cummings can easily

:55:13. > :55:16.take the ball to feet. There is no doubt Rangers have been

:55:17. > :55:21.uncomfortable. Have Stokes and Cummings linked up better than they

:55:22. > :55:24.have done today? Stokes playing in that inside-left position. There was

:55:25. > :55:28.one clip where the ball dropped in the middle of the park and Stokes

:55:29. > :55:32.played a lovely first-time pass into Cummings. They have made themselves

:55:33. > :55:35.very difficult for Rangers and they have caused Rangers a lot of

:55:36. > :55:41.problems. It is probably the most successful, you might not say they

:55:42. > :55:44.have linked up great together, the two have caused more problems for

:55:45. > :55:49.Rangers today than they have in other games. With the two goals,

:55:50. > :55:53.with the efforts rattling off the frame of the goal, then we had a

:55:54. > :56:01.late first half Hibs flurry. They might have got themselves ahead.

:56:02. > :56:06.Most of the possession was Rangers. How many times, it is Groundhog Day.

:56:07. > :56:12.It is the left-hand side. The ease in which they get in there. Stokes

:56:13. > :56:19.likes to go into those areas. He hasn't been as dangerous from there

:56:20. > :56:26.lately. He is today. These are a whole bunch of chances. You have to

:56:27. > :56:30.say Hibs deserved, over the chances, maybe to sneak it, if anyone

:56:31. > :56:35.deserved to sneak it in that first half. Will Rangers look to

:56:36. > :56:37.reorganisation? They do look vulnerable? The manager has to

:56:38. > :56:58.tell... The problem lies when you That is the problem. They are

:56:59. > :57:04.watching the ball, they give way too much space away and you can never

:57:05. > :57:10.keep up the pressure against Hibs, so I think that is a thing he is

:57:11. > :57:18.going to talk about. He will also say be patient, don't try to make

:57:19. > :57:22.2-1 in the first ten minutes. We have 45 minutes. We have possession.

:57:23. > :57:26.Most of the time, Rangers had the possession. If you are so careless

:57:27. > :57:33.with the ball, and you are not pressing, it is waiting for a big

:57:34. > :57:41.chance for Hibs. Are we seeing a rustiness about Rangers? I don't

:57:42. > :57:45.think it is rustiness. Not having Ball in that six position, you have

:57:46. > :57:50.Halliday who is there, he is lovely on the ball, but his first instinct

:57:51. > :57:54.is to get on the ball and to see passes forward. He is not thinking

:57:55. > :57:59.about where is the striker, where is the ten to pick up? That is where

:58:00. > :58:03.Hibs have exploited Rangers. I don't think it is rustiness. Alan Stubbs

:58:04. > :58:09.will be delighted with what's happened in the main? Some defensive

:58:10. > :58:13.issues, but in the main Hibs have been on the front foot, haven't

:58:14. > :58:17.they? They need to be more clinical? His tactics have worked exactly how

:58:18. > :58:22.he would have wanted them to work, except for one or two cross-balls

:58:23. > :58:25.where that mass of players in there didn't attack it as well as they

:58:26. > :58:30.should have done. If I was Alan Stubbs, I would be worried about one

:58:31. > :58:35.thing. McKay got the ball one-on-one against Gray and he flew past him.

:58:36. > :58:39.That's a slight concern. You have not seen anything of them in that

:58:40. > :58:42.left, Rangers on that left-hand side there. They are fabulous down that

:58:43. > :58:47.side with Wallace and McKay. We talked about it before. Hibs have

:58:48. > :58:51.their eye on it. Is he trying to do that for 90 minutes on a big pitch

:58:52. > :58:56.against really good players? That would be a concern to me. The one

:58:57. > :59:05.other thing that will be at the back of his mind is the fact that we have

:59:06. > :59:10.shown so many chances, it's one of those ones, are you going to rue the

:59:11. > :59:14.chances that you have had? Of course, it will cause a lot of

:59:15. > :59:17.energy for those strikers. You have to run in the channels. You have to

:59:18. > :59:23.make ground and can you do that for 90 minutes? I feel Rangers is not

:59:24. > :59:35.of game. We Lieutenant wait and see. of game. We Lieutenant wait and see.

:59:36. > :59:40.-- we will wait and see. I do think Hibs look like the team that will

:59:41. > :59:43.tire. It becomes a big thing at Hampden Park because your energy

:59:44. > :59:51.will be expended and the mental energy and the nervous energy...

:59:52. > :59:57.Do you think Hibs would fancy having him upfront and available? Why

:59:58. > :00:04.hasn't he got the green and white scarf on? To be fair he was

:00:05. > :00:08.fantastic for us, he's had a great season. Looking at Stokes, if you

:00:09. > :00:16.give him the ball in the right area, he looks on fire. A danger and will

:00:17. > :00:23.presumably continue to be so. We wondered what the managers would

:00:24. > :00:28.say, Mark Warburton, he would say, listen, I want you, straightaway,

:00:29. > :00:31.when he goes to the side, go tight. Because they just let him run into

:00:32. > :00:36.the six yard box and he's very dangerous. That's something they

:00:37. > :00:42.will worry about. I think it is one thing that Rangers have to take care

:00:43. > :00:45.of. Then you have already taken half the danger out. Second-half

:00:46. > :00:51.commentary coming up from Liam and Craig. This is the story so far.

:00:52. > :01:00.COMMENTATOR: Here is Cummings, Stokes, hasn't got anyone to hit in

:01:01. > :01:11.the middle. Stokes fancy it himself, and he does! And why not? Is it on?

:01:12. > :01:13.Is it on? The ball in is a good one. It is Kenny Miller! It is 1-1 in the

:01:14. > :01:21.final. COMMENTATOR: Became the 25th

:01:22. > :01:26.different winner of the competition last year when they defeated Falkirk

:01:27. > :01:34.year 2-1. James Vincent scoring the winner on 86 minutes. Only one of

:01:35. > :01:43.the last 24 Scottish Cup finals has gone to extra time, that was in

:01:44. > :01:50.2006. Is that where we are heading today? Only been one English manager

:01:51. > :01:57.to win the Scottish Cup, Smith, will Falkirk, in 1957, defeating

:01:58. > :02:03.Kilmarnock after a replay. There will be a second today, but will it

:02:04. > :02:07.be Scouser Alan Stubbs or London Mark Warburton? Hibs get us under

:02:08. > :02:12.way. Shooting towards their supporters in the second half at the

:02:13. > :02:16.Tony Clement. Rangers in the blue shooting towards Mount Florida. No

:02:17. > :02:20.changes for either team at the interval in what is the 33rd

:02:21. > :02:26.Scottish Cup meeting between the teams. Rangers have won 14, Hibs

:02:27. > :02:33.have won ten, there have been eight strong ties. -- drawn. It will be

:02:34. > :02:38.interesting to see if the second half follows in a similar pattern to

:02:39. > :02:41.the first. I think it will be end to end again, the only question is who

:02:42. > :02:47.comes out of the traps quicker this time. This is Jason Cummings. Hibs

:02:48. > :02:49.trying to launch their first assault on the Rangers goal, here. Zelalem

:02:50. > :03:09.pinching it back, though. This is the 199th match for Rangers

:03:10. > :03:14.since they began their route towards the top flight in 2012. Began with a

:03:15. > :03:20.challenge cup tie against Brechin City. Lee McCulloch scoring in a 2-1

:03:21. > :03:27.win. Being a long arduous journey for the Rangers supporters. This is

:03:28. > :03:37.Martyn Waghorn. It's good play from him. He just let at the vital

:03:38. > :03:40.moment. -- he just slipped. Is Fraser Fyvie looking for the

:03:41. > :03:45.decision? Not sure if he believes he was clipped, but he drives towards

:03:46. > :03:50.the byline. If there a hand on his back from Lewis Stevenson? Is that

:03:51. > :03:54.what he was trying to claim? He has certainly gone down too easily, the

:03:55. > :04:16.referee is not going to give him a penalty for that.

:04:17. > :04:22.Rangers keeping up this excellent record of scoring in all but two of

:04:23. > :04:29.their matches this season. One of those was in the cup against

:04:30. > :04:37.Kilmarnock at Ibrox. The other was in a recent defeat to Livingston.

:04:38. > :04:44.Which was one of just five league defeats in this campaign. Hibs

:04:45. > :04:50.inflicted two on them. I don't think I've watched a game where Lee

:04:51. > :04:56.Wallace has spent so much time back. Good point. Rangers have

:04:57. > :05:10.swashbuckling wingbacks. Here is one of them, James Tavernier.

:05:11. > :05:13.Rangers desperate to win a National trophy before they get back into the

:05:14. > :05:17.top flight. That's what one of their trophy before they get back into the

:05:18. > :05:46.main ambitions has been over the past four years.

:05:47. > :05:49.Tavernier to Waghorn, two players who have made such an impression for

:05:50. > :06:27.Rangers this season. Slack by Danny Wilson. That just

:06:28. > :06:33.invites pressure. Hibs have got to try to use the ball better. Rangers

:06:34. > :06:37.look better in possession. But certainly a poor pass out of

:06:38. > :06:44.defence. Hamelin. Stevenson to Stokes. He's had a go. And he's

:06:45. > :06:49.forced yet another save out of Wes Foderingham. He's in the mood,

:06:50. > :06:54.Anthony Stokes. He keeps dropping short. When he gets the ball there

:06:55. > :07:01.is no thought about, what am I going to do with this? He's going to fire

:07:02. > :07:04.at goal. Decent save. Interesting tussle between Stokes and

:07:05. > :07:10.at goal. Decent save. Interesting Foderingham, as the corner comes in.

:07:11. > :07:12.Just nicked away. And that's a goal kick. Danny Wilson was the Rangers

:07:13. > :08:05.player who attacked that. Too much on the Cummings. This is

:08:06. > :08:10.John McGinn. Looking further Cummings, he's going to find him as

:08:11. > :08:12.well. He's on his own right now. Two arriving in the middle about now. No

:08:13. > :08:56.way through. Wouldn't be surprised to see this go

:08:57. > :09:00.all the way. You wouldn't be surprised if it went all the way,

:09:01. > :09:05.both these sides came through via penalty shoot outs in the semis, of

:09:06. > :09:11.course. I don't think either team manager wants it to go to that. It

:09:12. > :09:16.could become a battle of fatigue or lack of fatigue late in the game.

:09:17. > :09:19.Rangers starting to keep the ball better which means Hibs have to work

:09:20. > :09:30.twice as hard. Good play by James Tavernier. Rangers beat Peterhead to

:09:31. > :09:37.lift the challenge cup here last month before facing Celtic seven

:09:38. > :09:45.days later. Looking at the bench, though, talking about Hibs with

:09:46. > :09:50.players running out of legs, Henderson, Keatings, Berkeley, a lot

:09:51. > :10:00.does not die looped the team at all. does not die looped the team at all.

:10:01. > :10:09.-- it doesn't die -- it doesn't dilute the team.

:10:10. > :10:26.Jason Holt. Halliday. Good harrying, there, by McGinn. Equally so by

:10:27. > :10:38.Miller. How good was that? Brilliant initially from McGinn, and then also

:10:39. > :10:41.from Kenny Miller. Some wee skirmishes, and the REFEREE:

:10:42. > :10:48.Position, he can see no fouls being committed.

:10:49. > :10:56.Some wee skirmishes, and the referee in a good position, you can see no

:10:57. > :11:05.fouls being committed, let them play on. Here is Cummings. Not being his

:11:06. > :11:09.afternoon so far. Know, and its Anthony Stokes is the man early in

:11:10. > :11:14.the game, you know, he looked like he could turn things around for

:11:15. > :11:18.Hibs. Jason Cummings starting today, one or two would be hoping for big

:11:19. > :11:24.things. On the ball away from goal, linkup play, it's not happening just

:11:25. > :11:45.now. But he's still a major goal threat.

:11:46. > :11:49.Rangers looking forward to top-flight football next season.

:11:50. > :11:55.Hibs would have loved to have joined them. They'll have to wait another

:11:56. > :12:11.year at least. Very late from Tavernier. He'll be

:12:12. > :12:14.in trouble for that. Yeah, he's totally committed, James Tavernier,

:12:15. > :12:18.he just doesn't get there quick enough. You see the ball is well

:12:19. > :12:23.away when he stretches into the challenge. Doesn't catch into badly

:12:24. > :12:29.but the fact is, going head on into a talent like that, the referee is

:12:30. > :12:34.going to believe that's reckless and that's going to be a yellow card --

:12:35. > :12:36.going into a tackle like that. It's the first yellow card of the final

:12:37. > :12:41.going into a tackle like that. It's four James Tavernier. John McGinn is

:12:42. > :12:44.the conspirator for the high fees, here.

:12:45. > :12:56.It's Fontaine. He does well to get his head on the ball. Liam Fontaine

:12:57. > :13:13.is grabbing him. Another chance for Hibernian. If

:13:14. > :13:27.they lose this Scottish Cup final, there will be feelings of regret.

:13:28. > :13:34.Goes early for Waghorn. Really good idea by Kenny Miller. Realised he

:13:35. > :13:36.wasn't going to get in on goal and self, Tavernier coming at the back

:13:37. > :13:50.post, can't deflect on target. He's not had a bad season, has he?

:13:51. > :13:55.Lee Griffiths, the Celtic striker, 40 goals he managed this campaign.

:13:56. > :14:00.Could have been more, missed a couple of penalties throughout the

:14:01. > :14:04.season. I don't think the Celtic supporters will let that annoy them

:14:05. > :14:10.too much. Fabulous campaign. Enjoying a well earned rest. He's

:14:11. > :14:21.not involved in the Scotland games against Italy and France which are

:14:22. > :14:29.to come in the next week and a half. John McGinn of Hibs in there, too.

:14:30. > :14:47.It's a long season. Hibs have played more than 50 games this campaign.

:14:48. > :14:54.It was Anthony Stokes who was involved in this... Anthony Stokes

:14:55. > :15:03.tried to stick out a leg to block the clearance. He may have kicked on

:15:04. > :15:05.to the sole of the boot. He kicks him on the knee, so I don't think he

:15:06. > :15:32.will book Anthony Stokes for that. Zelalem was fouled by Fyvie. That

:15:33. > :15:35.might be a yellow. It is. The Hibs midfield three are having to work

:15:36. > :15:39.really hard in there and Fraser Fyvie committing a challenge like

:15:40. > :15:43.that and getting himself yellow carded. I would imagine Marvin

:15:44. > :15:47.Bartley might be warming up shortly. You have to be very careful. A man

:15:48. > :15:54.sent off at this stage could be so costly.

:15:55. > :16:04.The Rangers subs today - just the five listed by Mark Warburton. Cammy

:16:05. > :16:11.Bell is one of them, Law, Clark, Shiels and young Liam Burt. Hibs

:16:12. > :16:17.have got Mark Oxley, Henderson, Bartley, Boyle, Keatings, Gunnarsson

:16:18. > :16:23.and Dagnall. That knock to Zelalem... Mark Warburton is going

:16:24. > :16:28.to spend a bit of time explaining something to the midfielder. In the

:16:29. > :16:33.meantime, it's a Rangers free kick and Tavernier will take it. In it

:16:34. > :16:36.comes... That could have been more awkward for Conrad Logan than he

:16:37. > :16:40.made it look. Yeah, he stood his ground. He realised Kenny Miller

:16:41. > :16:45.couldn't quite make up the ground. Fontaine was matching the run that

:16:46. > :17:05.Miller had just got ahead, safe for the goalkeeper. Well done by Gray.

:17:06. > :17:12.That's a sharp move from Hibs, the turn from McGinn, he puts the pace

:17:13. > :17:18.out to Cummings, tries to get it in early. Over the pair of the two in

:17:19. > :17:25.the middle. We have played an hour of the Scottish Cup Final. Hibs led

:17:26. > :17:37.early through Stokes, cancelled out by Kenny Miller. The 131st final of

:17:38. > :18:01.this competition. A long way to go yet in the Glasgow sunshine.

:18:02. > :18:07.Rangers are dominating possession of the football. When Hibs get it,

:18:08. > :18:14.Rangers are pressing them quickly and Hibs are giving them the ball

:18:15. > :18:22.back far too cheaply. Dean Shiels will be on. He is ready to come on,

:18:23. > :18:27.in fact. Just out of picture. It will be Zelalem who is going to come

:18:28. > :18:31.off. Craig's thoughts on that in a minute. Martyn Waghorn... Zelalem,

:18:32. > :18:40.who is about to be hooked. McKay. He minute. Martyn Waghorn... Zelalem,

:18:41. > :18:43.wins a corner. Oh no, goal kick. Once again, the referee in a good

:18:44. > :18:47.position. From here, it did look like it had come off David Gray. The

:18:48. > :18:51.introduction of Dean Shiels suggests the manager is looking for a little

:18:52. > :19:00.more craft and guile. Rangers have possession of the football. Zelalem

:19:01. > :19:05.is more steady, Dean Shiels can produce a killer ball. A mixed

:19:06. > :19:12.reception for Dean Shiels. One-half of the stadium cheer him on, the

:19:13. > :19:20.other half boo him on. A former Hibee against his old team. The

:19:21. > :19:29.referee today, Steven McLean, sent off Craig Gordon in last year's semi

:19:30. > :20:06.against Inverness. Encouragingly for the Hibs

:20:07. > :20:14.supporters, they were dead and buried by this time in their last

:20:15. > :20:18.two finals. They are still very much a force in this one. You do sense

:20:19. > :20:22.that Rangers are beginning to get a stranglehold on this. Certainly

:20:23. > :20:26.possession of the ball. Very little for Conrad Logan, the goalkeeper, to

:20:27. > :20:30.do. But the fact is, every time the ball is in the middle of the park,

:20:31. > :20:35.Rangers can make eight, nine, ten passes. When Hibs get it, it is one

:20:36. > :20:36.or two and it is launched forward and possession is given straight

:20:37. > :20:51.back to the Ibrox side. Andy Halliday. Nice touch from

:20:52. > :21:01.Halliday! There is nothing you can do about that! Andy Halliday puts

:21:02. > :21:07.Rangers in front. That is an absolute fizzer. Defensively, he's

:21:08. > :21:11.tried to take a touch, turn, set it up, but what a strike this is.

:21:12. > :21:16.Across the goalkeeper. Bang! You will not see a better strike than

:21:17. > :21:22.that. Conrad Logan no chance at all. Just inside the post. He's got a

:21:23. > :21:27.powerful left foot. He's now hit a belter and given Rangers the lead.

:21:28. > :21:32.It is a tenth goal of the season for Andy Halliday, who is a big, big

:21:33. > :21:38.Rangers fan and he has just put them in front in a Scottish Cup Final.

:21:39. > :21:49.What a feeling for him. And what a feeling for Mark Warburton.

:21:50. > :21:54.Jason Cummings, his afternoon is over. James Keatings has come on.

:21:55. > :21:58.Hibs need to get some sharpness up there. Cummings in the dug-out,

:21:59. > :22:07.James Keatings is on the park alongside Anthony Stokes. Well, is

:22:08. > :22:11.Hibs' Scottish Cup misery about to be extended by another year? They

:22:12. > :22:14.have to come up with a response. James Keatings on the park now. That

:22:15. > :22:22.is a foul by Stevenson. Hibs will have to take chances. I

:22:23. > :22:28.don't think Liam Henderson will be far from making an entrance either.

:22:29. > :22:32.Rangers will be lifted by that goal. Their passing has been good. They

:22:33. > :22:43.will make it very difficult for Hibs to get on the ball.

:22:44. > :22:52.It's a real Scottish Cup Final, a classic from Andy Halliday. One of

:22:53. > :22:56.the best you will see in this showpiece. This is Stokes.

:22:57. > :23:04.That was a good idea. From that distance, even a chip going into the

:23:05. > :23:20.top corner, Wes Foderingham would move his feet and deal with that.

:23:21. > :23:29.50,701 inside the National Stadium today. Segregation is perhaps

:23:30. > :23:40.keeping it down from being an absolute capacity.

:23:41. > :23:47.We saw Barrie McKay score a wondergoal in the semifinal here

:23:48. > :23:54.against Celtic. That was equally good from Halliday. Every bit as

:23:55. > :23:57.good. When you turn and move it out of your feet... He generates

:23:58. > :24:08.magnificent power. A bit of needle between these two

:24:09. > :24:30.this season. There hasn't been much sympathy for

:24:31. > :24:33.their plight in the league coming to Hibernian down Ibrox way. The final

:24:34. > :24:39.quarter of the game now, though. Stokes.

:24:40. > :24:44.Others were asking in the middle why that was not fired across for them.

:24:45. > :24:50.I still believe he is the man most likely. He will take defenders on. A

:24:51. > :24:52.complete mis-hit. Puts it a mile way, but Hibs need to get him on the

:24:53. > :25:06.ball. Liam Henderson is going to be on

:25:07. > :25:41.momentarily for Hibernian. Rangers can be patient now. They

:25:42. > :25:46.don't have to go chasing that ball. This is why. Just look at the

:25:47. > :25:56.strike... Absolutely sweet as a nut. Nicks off the inside of the post.

:25:57. > :26:02.Andy Halliday nicked that from his top drawer. It was wonderful. Hibs

:26:03. > :26:06.staring down the barrel of misery again, as things stand. There is

:26:07. > :26:07.still time for them to save this. Keatings goes in over the top on

:26:08. > :26:19.Wallace. The referee is going to settle for a

:26:20. > :26:24.word again. It's a 50/50 and he's thrown himself into it. He put his

:26:25. > :26:33.foot on the top of the ball, I think. A word of warning. It is Liam

:26:34. > :26:36.Henderson for Liam Fontaine. A change of system, back four,

:26:37. > :26:38.midfield diamond. With Henderson at the front of the diamond, trying to

:26:39. > :27:00.get him on the What a feather in the cap of Mark

:27:01. > :27:05.Warburton it would be if he could win the Scottish Cup at the end of

:27:06. > :27:07.his first full season. It would be three trophies. He won the

:27:08. > :27:16.Championship title and the Challenge Cup. Delivering, as things stand,

:27:17. > :27:24.top-flight football, silverware and European football. That's all in his

:27:25. > :27:29.first season. Little wonder he is held in high regard by the Rangers'

:27:30. > :27:33.supporters. The Championship, getting back into the Premiership

:27:34. > :27:38.was the job he had to do. Everything else is a bonus. The bonuses help

:27:39. > :27:45.when you are trying to attract players and trying to sell season

:27:46. > :27:54.tickets. The Rangers chairman has spoken today and, winning the

:27:55. > :27:59.Scottish Cup today would change the Rangers budget. Rangers looking for

:28:00. > :28:02.their third which, you would think, would kill off Hibernian. An

:28:03. > :28:13.important phase in the game here. 19 to play of the 90. Hibs have to go

:28:14. > :28:16.for it. We Have 19 minutes to go. They need Anthony Stokes on the

:28:17. > :28:21.for it. We Have 19 minutes to go. ball. Rangers are looking very

:28:22. > :28:28.comfortable just now. Everybody wants to get involved in the play

:28:29. > :28:37.for Rangers. Up towards Stokes, who has two Scottish Cup winners'

:28:38. > :28:45.medals. One in 2011, one in 2013, against Motherwell and against Hibs.

:28:46. > :29:00.Henderson in support. Taken away from Keatings by Kiernan.

:29:01. > :29:24.Good full-back work by Lewis Stevenson.

:29:25. > :29:30.They are linking up well, those two, the couple of minutes they have had

:29:31. > :29:40.on the pitch together. Here is Tavernier. Just took his eye off

:29:41. > :29:44.that. McGinn. Through towards Keatings. Back by Kiernan to his

:29:45. > :30:14.keeper. Nicky Clark is going to be on for

:30:15. > :30:18.Rangers, shortly. Mark Warburton looking at his bench for the second

:30:19. > :30:25.time. We are hearing it will be Martyn Waghorn who will be

:30:26. > :30:30.sacrificed. Certainly not moving easily out there, Waghorn. Lewis

:30:31. > :30:32.Stevenson is getting off him far too easily. Doesn't have the legs to get

:30:33. > :30:39.back and match those runs. easily. Doesn't have the legs to get

:30:40. > :30:54.Where there's a will there's a way for Hibernian. Henderson to Stokes.

:30:55. > :30:58.Towards Gray who was well offside. He shouldn't be off, he's the widest

:30:59. > :31:03.player, he can see right across the park. All he has to do is just bide

:31:04. > :31:09.his time. Decent ball to the back post. It's all about timing. Just

:31:10. > :31:16.off and no more, but he should have done better, there. It's not been a

:31:17. > :31:20.vintage afternoon for Martyn done better, there. It's not been a

:31:21. > :31:25.Waghorn, that's for sure. But he has been so important to Rangers across

:31:26. > :31:31.the season. 28 goals, bearing in mind he missed a large chunk of the

:31:32. > :31:40.closing months of the campaign. He is replaced by Nicky Clark. Yeah, he

:31:41. > :31:43.supplies goal threat but he will also work, Lewis Stevenson was

:31:44. > :31:48.getting away far too easily from Martyn Waghorn, the legs have turned

:31:49. > :31:56.to jelly. Stevenson won't get away that easily from Clark. If it stays

:31:57. > :32:00.this way I am sure Martyn Waghorn will find a lot more energy, as

:32:01. > :32:04.Nicky Clark's father, Sandy, watches on. Took Dunfermline along to the

:32:05. > :32:19.championship. Dundee United there tomorrow, we

:32:20. > :32:23.will find out who else will be in that championship, the final place

:32:24. > :32:28.in the championship will be taken. Falkirk protecting a 1-0 lead

:32:29. > :32:30.against Killie at Rugby Park. There will be highlights of that park

:32:31. > :32:46.tomorrow evening on sports scene. Highlights of this tonight as well.

:32:47. > :32:54.Rangers 2-1 up and heading toward Silver again. For the third time

:32:55. > :33:03.this season. Henderson to McGinn. This is Stokes. Loads in the middle,

:33:04. > :33:09.here. It's lovely play. He's scored one, but he's missed five other

:33:10. > :33:13.chances. Absolutely must hit target, there. He does really well to take

:33:14. > :33:18.on James Tavernier, on his strongest side. A lot of players to go

:33:19. > :33:26.through, but he's cop the quality just to into the bottom corner. --

:33:27. > :33:32.he's got the quality just to pass them into the bottom corner. 10:25pm

:33:33. > :33:39.tonight for highlights of the Scottish Cup final. BBC One. Of

:33:40. > :33:46.course there are highlights of tomorrow's second play-off leg. It

:33:47. > :33:52.will be live on BBC Radio 2. It's all about the Scottish Cup final

:33:53. > :34:06.here this afternoon. Just over 30 minutes to play. -- 13 minutes.

:34:07. > :34:14.Keatings making his way into the box. Headed away by Wilson. And a

:34:15. > :34:19.foul by Henderson, says the referee, who had the best view in the stadium

:34:20. > :34:25.of that. Henderson doesn't believe that when the ball bounces, if a

:34:26. > :34:32.player gets ahead of you, you are never going to dispossess him

:34:33. > :34:36.without drawing the free kick. These Hibs fans have been in this movie so

:34:37. > :34:39.many times before. They have lost their last ten Scottish Cup finals.

:34:40. > :34:48.many times before. They have lost They haven't won it in 114 years.

:34:49. > :34:58.It's going to go to 115 at least, if they can't somehow work back into

:34:59. > :35:02.this. Yeah, looking for one quality chance, and it has two full to the

:35:03. > :35:06.right man, or set piece, with the big lads in the team, they might

:35:07. > :35:12.still believe that's an area where they can worry Rangers. Certainly in

:35:13. > :35:18.possession of the football, when Rangers are well ahead right now.

:35:19. > :35:20.When it comes to cup finals, it is the only thing. This is Liam

:35:21. > :35:32.Henderson. Nice turn by John McGinn. He

:35:33. > :35:42.couldn't quite force it back to Stokes, though. It's all getting a

:35:43. > :35:50.bit frustrating for the Hibees. McGinn finds Fyvie. He teased Wilson

:35:51. > :35:56.into the challenge, he's bought his team a corner as well. May have been

:35:57. > :36:00.the best outcome, there. Fraser Fyvie didn't look like he was going

:36:01. > :36:05.to get to the byline and get a ball into the box, so I think Hibs will

:36:06. > :36:13.settle for a corner kick. Henderson's delivery is usually

:36:14. > :36:28.pretty good. 11 minutes left. It's in! It's Stokes again! Anthony

:36:29. > :36:32.Stokes rescues Hibs! They are right back in this! Big-time! I said his

:36:33. > :36:39.delivery was good, he sticks it in a good area. But Anthony Stokes gets a

:36:40. > :36:45.free header, bullets it into the top corner. Just eases James Tavernier,

:36:46. > :36:57.his marker, off the ball, finishes in style. It has been Stokes's day

:36:58. > :37:02.so far, his second of the match, Hibernian's second, and it is 2-2

:37:03. > :37:18.with ten minutes to play. Elation for the Hibees. Just which way is

:37:19. > :37:25.the seesaw going to go? These two back on terms. We thought it would

:37:26. > :37:31.be very difficult to split them and that's exactly the way it is panning

:37:32. > :37:42.out. Here is Keatings. And suddenly it is Hibs with the swagger.

:37:43. > :37:57.McGeouch to Keatings. Gray on the overlap, here he is. Easily dealt

:37:58. > :38:03.with that time by Wilson. As things stand, we are off to extra time.

:38:04. > :38:13.Good play by Gray, court Dean Shiels napping. -- he court Dean Shiels.

:38:14. > :38:24.-- he caught Dean Shiels. Niklas Gunnarsson is getting himself

:38:25. > :38:30.strapped. Don't know whether Gray is going to be able to carry on. Strong

:38:31. > :38:34.challenge, Dean Shiels doesn't seem coming, wins the ball, and possibly

:38:35. > :38:40.when Dean Shiels comes down on his knee, might have just twisted it. He

:38:41. > :38:41.was already stretching that leg before he made the challenge, David

:38:42. > :38:52.Gray. Gunnarsson is coming on. before he made the challenge, David

:38:53. > :38:58.Anthony Stokes has had more individual chances in this game than

:38:59. > :39:03.Rangers have in total. He doesn't play through the middle, keeps

:39:04. > :39:06.dragging himself out left, when he gets on the ball he can go on his

:39:07. > :39:12.left hand side but normally he cuts onto his right foot. He's missed a

:39:13. > :39:16.couple, to be fair. He smashed one of the post. But he's made two

:39:17. > :39:21.count, and that's kept Hibs in this Scottish Cup final. The dream is

:39:22. > :39:30.back on for those in green and white. On comes the Norwegian

:39:31. > :39:42.Gunnarsson. And Paul Hanlon going off. Didn't appear to be struggling.

:39:43. > :39:46.Niklas Gunnarsson scored against Rangers of course in their recent

:39:47. > :39:54.3-2 victory at Easter Road. So, David Gray continues. Gunnarsson, at

:39:55. > :39:59.six feet and two inches, we'll just slip into that defence. He has

:40:00. > :40:03.filled in at right back, centre-back. He's a big athlete and

:40:04. > :40:06.he is also a target at set pieces, very good in the air. Seven minutes

:40:07. > :40:28.of being normal time left. Henderson asking a lot of Gray, who

:40:29. > :40:34.is already moving a little gingerly. That's really sloppy. I just wonder

:40:35. > :40:40.if either team fancy winning this before the final whistle. When you

:40:41. > :40:44.talk about fatigue and heavy legs. Hibs have no substrate on in extra

:40:45. > :40:51.getting the message on to go for it getting the message on to go for it

:40:52. > :40:57.-- no subs to bring on in extra time. It has been an energy sapping

:40:58. > :41:01.couple of weeks, playing Raith Rovers twice, playing Falkirk twice.

:41:02. > :41:08.Having to lift his players for this final. Scottish Cup finals would

:41:09. > :41:12.normally lift you just by remembering that you have to take

:41:13. > :41:19.part in it. But this has been a very different period for Hibernian. The

:41:20. > :41:29.disappointment of not managing to gain promotion.

:41:30. > :41:30.disappointment of not managing to gain promotion. Stokes with a double

:41:31. > :41:38.for Hibs. Miller, and a classic from Halliday.

:41:39. > :41:47.Rangers leading 2-1, having trailed 1-0.

:41:48. > :42:12.McKay's ball in. Think it was his hand it came off.

:42:13. > :42:17.By all accounts Alan Stubbs has missed the Hibs equaliser from

:42:18. > :42:29.Anthony Stokes. Nature called. What can you do? Got to go, you've got to

:42:30. > :42:40.go, Craig. He might be tempted to go again! Here is Holt. Runs out of

:42:41. > :42:47.pitch. Not bad news to come back out to, to be fair. Interesting inside

:42:48. > :43:07.when he heard the cheer, because you've no idea who is chairing. --

:43:08. > :43:14.you've no idea who is cheering. Four minutes left to play and you can

:43:15. > :43:18.just about squeeze a cigarette paper between the two of them. Everyone

:43:19. > :43:25.starts to get nervous round about now. You know one mistake, the ball

:43:26. > :43:49.is in the back of the net and there is no time to recover.

:43:50. > :43:59.We haven't had extra time in a Scottish Cup final for ten years.

:44:00. > :44:01.It's not a competition that is normally decided by penalty shoot

:44:02. > :44:08.It's not a competition that is outs, just a couple, Celtic in 1990.

:44:09. > :44:12.McGinn almost found Keatings. Very close to being the perfect pass. But

:44:13. > :44:37.Wes Foderingham sharp off his line. Hearers Tavernier, Dean Shiels to

:44:38. > :44:40.his right. It is at the expense of a Rangers corner. I can't believe

:44:41. > :44:45.Rangers are going to take this one short. The two centre-backs have got

:44:46. > :44:48.themselves forward. You get in the mix-up and see what you can do.

:44:49. > :45:07.Kenny Miller rattled the bar last time they had a corner kick.

:45:08. > :45:17.Tavernier. That's annoyed the Rangers support. It's a head knock.

:45:18. > :45:21.Not sure if it is the two Hibs players that have clashed. I don't

:45:22. > :45:28.think the referee can afford to take chances when a player goes down as

:45:29. > :45:35.quickly as that. Not at all. It's the two of them that's clashed. They

:45:36. > :45:43.have used all their substitutions, Craig. That will be a major problem

:45:44. > :45:48.if they lose a player. It's a big patch at Hampden. With ten men, it

:45:49. > :45:52.is hard to cover the ground, especially against a team like

:45:53. > :45:57.Rangers. They can take it out of your legs. A replay of the goal.

:45:58. > :46:01.Anthony Stokes, just eases James Tavernier aside too easily. That is

:46:02. > :46:04.a brilliant header. No chance for the keeper. He's been Hibs man

:46:05. > :46:10.a brilliant header. No chance for the day. Not just his two goals,

:46:11. > :46:13.he's put himself about today. We haven't seen much of that since he

:46:14. > :46:19.returned to Easter Road on loan. He's the type of player who can turn

:46:20. > :46:25.games. He tries the exceptional. If it doesn't come off, he will try it

:46:26. > :46:30.again. It doesn't bother him. Other players try it once. Anthony Stokes

:46:31. > :46:35.will keep trying to do something to get his team the win. He's proven

:46:36. > :46:39.over the last ten years, Craig, that he's as good as anyone as far as

:46:40. > :46:43.Scottish football is concerned, scoring goals. It is amazing how far

:46:44. > :46:50.he's fallen down the pecking order at Celtic.

:46:51. > :47:29.Injury-time upon us. Extra time will be four minutes after that.

:47:30. > :47:33.Rangers are hunting down the goal that would surely win the Scottish

:47:34. > :47:49.Cup. Good pressing by Gray. Brilliantly

:47:50. > :47:53.done. Pressure, pressure, pressure, would not give up. Fyvie has space

:47:54. > :48:06.to operate in here. He has Stokes to the left. He delayed it slightly.

:48:07. > :48:13.Stokes. Into injury-time. Wow! He's hit this really well. The angle is

:48:14. > :48:19.really tight. It's a decent save. He struck it well. Imagine being the

:48:20. > :48:28.Hibs player who scores a hat-trick in the final minute of the Scottish

:48:29. > :48:39.Cup Final! In goes the goal for David Gray!

:48:40. > :48:48.A stunning moment, in stoppage-time! In one stretch of the neck muscles,

:48:49. > :48:53.Hibernian's Scottish Cup pain and misery could be over. What a touch

:48:54. > :48:57.from the skipper. He's gone up there, he's brave, he's got his head

:48:58. > :48:59.on it. He's knocked it into the back of the net. Another decent corner

:49:00. > :49:04.on it. He's knocked it into the back from Liam Henderson. The man who

:49:05. > :49:08.wanted it most was David Gray. No chance for the goalkeeper. And Hibs

:49:09. > :49:16.are now in pole position to win the Cup. Quite astonishing. Hibs are two

:49:17. > :49:30.minutes away from winning the Scottish Cup. Two minutes is nothing

:49:31. > :49:34.compared to 114 years. We thought David Gray was going to be off a

:49:35. > :49:38.moment or two ago because of injury. If Hibs don't win the Scottish Cup

:49:39. > :49:43.from this point, then it will be a new way to torture their supporters.

:49:44. > :49:52.Anthony Stokes urges James Keatings into the corner. The Hibs fans all

:49:53. > :49:59.on their feet. Rangers can't quite believe it.

:50:00. > :50:09.The long ball is for Tavernier. It is not going to make it. Hibs will

:50:10. > :50:12.The long ball is for Tavernier. It take an eternity to get this ball

:50:13. > :50:16.back into play. Conrad Logan will get the ball, he is going to saunter

:50:17. > :50:20.over and try and run down that clock as best he can.

:50:21. > :50:29.We could be about to see something very, very special for Hibernian

:50:30. > :50:43.Football Club. There will be a few seconds over the 94 because of the

:50:44. > :50:47.goal that appears to be the winner. It was a crazy challenge by Dylan

:50:48. > :50:51.McGeouch to give away a free kick... Wait a minute, he's changed his

:50:52. > :51:01.decision. He's given the free kick to Hibs for a hand, an arm that came

:51:02. > :51:08.up? Now, it is a chance for Hibs to knock this into the corner. If it

:51:09. > :51:12.goes out of play, they don't care. Rangers have played their part in

:51:13. > :51:20.this final but they are very much about to be the sideshow.

:51:21. > :51:27.All eyes are on Steven McLean, the referee. Do Rangers have one last

:51:28. > :51:35.chance? No, they don't! Ladies and gentlemen, you are witness to a

:51:36. > :51:45.moment of Scottish sporting history. Hibernian have won the Scottish Cup!

:51:46. > :51:51.114 years of torment, heartbreak and suffering, ten straight Scottish Cup

:51:52. > :51:57.Final defeats are at an end. It has all got too much for the Hibs

:51:58. > :52:00.supporters. One of Scottish football's longest standing side

:52:01. > :52:13.stories has finally reached its conclusion. Last time they won this

:52:14. > :52:18.trophy, it was the year that Real Madrid were formed, the vacuum

:52:19. > :52:23.cleaner was invented, King Edward VII was Britain's monarch, that is

:52:24. > :52:30.how long it's been! Generation after generation have suffered. These are

:52:31. > :52:34.scenes the SFA will not want to see. The Rangers supporters beginning to

:52:35. > :52:40.make their way on to the park now as well. It is not what anyone wanted

:52:41. > :52:45.to witness today. Rangers played their part today. Goals from Miller

:52:46. > :52:51.and Halliday turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. Stokes opened the

:52:52. > :52:57.scoring. Stokes made it 2-2. And the Hibernian skipper David Gray has won

:52:58. > :53:00.Hibernian the Scottish Cup and Alan Stubbs is with Chris.

:53:01. > :53:05.Hibernian the Scottish Cup and Alan Congratulations, the long wait is

:53:06. > :53:10.over. Describe your feelings to me. Woah, it is difficult right now. I

:53:11. > :53:15.thought the players were unbelievable, the way we started the

:53:16. > :53:21.game and the way we finished it. They deserve this, they have had

:53:22. > :53:26.some knockers, but they have had a long, hard season. Every cloud has a

:53:27. > :53:30.silver lining and today we have got that silver lining. Did you feel

:53:31. > :53:37.after that first half, perhaps it was slipping away? It's weird...

:53:38. > :53:41.Woah, a bit emotional. I have probably dreamt this. I thought we

:53:42. > :53:45.were going to win the game 3-1. This was weeks ago. I just had a funny

:53:46. > :53:54.feeling. I knew the players were so disappointed last Friday. I knew by

:53:55. > :53:58.the reaction on Monday that they were ready for this game. Delighted

:53:59. > :54:05.for all the fans, the players, the football club. The history makers...

:54:06. > :54:10.This means so much to you? It does. You work with them every day. They

:54:11. > :54:15.have had a lot of bad luck against them, you know. And to see them

:54:16. > :54:24.actually achieve it is fantastic. Congratulations. Enjoy it. Cheers.

:54:25. > :54:28.We are seeing scenes reminiscent of the 1980 Scottish Cup Final, rioting

:54:29. > :54:32.at the end of the Rangers-Celtic game. You can forgive some of the

:54:33. > :54:37.Hibs supporters for going out of their minds temporarily. Just four

:54:38. > :54:42.years ago, they all streamed out of here in tears after a humiliation at

:54:43. > :54:50.the hands of Hearts. For those who went through that turmoil and all

:54:51. > :54:55.the other trials and tribulations, can eradicate all those painful

:54:56. > :55:00.memories, they have done it and few will grudge them this almighty

:55:01. > :55:04.triumph, Craig Paterson? It is an incredible end. We want to see the

:55:05. > :55:07.Cup presented. After that length of time, you want everything to be

:55:08. > :55:11.smooth. You want the lap of honour. That is not going to happen. Some

:55:12. > :55:15.people are on just celebrating, that's fine. At the other end, there

:55:16. > :55:18.will be problems and there will be repercussions and the last thing we

:55:19. > :55:23.wanted to see, it was an incredible game of football. It was an

:55:24. > :55:28.incredible end. We don't need this. No, the horses are out. The police

:55:29. > :55:32.horses. It is something we haven't seen in a generation, let alone the

:55:33. > :55:37.generations that have passed since Hibs last won the Scottish Cup.

:55:38. > :55:43.Rangers supporters spilled out on to the pitch as well. The drama of the

:55:44. > :55:47.injury-time winner from David Gray was all too much for the Hibs

:55:48. > :55:52.supporters. This has been pent up inside them for 114 years. They have

:55:53. > :56:12.had misery after misery in this competition. Misery after misery...

:56:13. > :56:18.Not even Gordon Smith, Bobby Johnston, and Willie Ormond managed

:56:19. > :56:24.to do this. It has been zero years since Hibs won the Scottish Cup. It

:56:25. > :56:28.is glory, glory to the Hibees. The chief has put Sunshine on Leith. It

:56:29. > :56:34.finished here at Hampden Park, Rangers 2, Hibernian 3.

:56:35. > :56:41.STUDIO: Thank goodness there is a police presence on the pitch now to

:56:42. > :56:48.get between the two sets of support. What is a glory day for Hibs, no

:56:49. > :56:51.doubt about that. It's gone pretty ugly in the last few minutes. It is

:56:52. > :56:58.scenes of celebration and it will be long into the night for the Hibs

:56:59. > :57:05.fans. An historic day for them. But those scenes outside on the pitch

:57:06. > :57:11.are ones we hope to avoid, Pat. It was a lot worse than that in 1980.

:57:12. > :57:17.We don't want to see that. There is an argument you can understand the

:57:18. > :57:20.level of 114 years worth of frustration bubbling over. So you

:57:21. > :57:24.run on the pitch. It is never right to do it. But you understand it. It

:57:25. > :57:31.is absolutely not right. Without taking the shine off it, it has not

:57:32. > :57:41.ruined it. That is not what anybody at Hibs wants to see. It was a

:57:42. > :57:44.fabulous game of football. Look, it is what it is outside. We should be

:57:45. > :57:48.focussing on the game. We have seen a great game of football today. The

:57:49. > :57:53.second half dipped a little bit in terms of the start. The tempo went

:57:54. > :57:58.down. Rangers had it in their hands at 2-1. They could have seen the

:57:59. > :58:03.game out and Hibs looked dead on their feet. From somewhere, they got

:58:04. > :58:07.a second wind and came back at Rangers. At the end of it, they

:58:08. > :58:12.thoroughly deserved that victory. I am delighted for the club and for

:58:13. > :58:16.the Hibs support. They have waited a long time for it. We should focus on

:58:17. > :58:19.the game because it was a great game of football. It will be some

:58:20. > :58:28.celebration, Ronald, when you have waited 114 years to win the Scottish

:58:29. > :58:36.Cup, 1902? He is getting emotional next to me! You know in the back of

:58:37. > :58:41.your mind if you win a prize like that with Hibs, you will be standing

:58:42. > :58:48.in history for a long, long time. I must say, of course, if Rangers kept

:58:49. > :58:52.the ball a little bit, I would never see Hibs coming back in the game.

:58:53. > :58:57.Every second ball they lost. Easy passes. Then they deserve to win

:58:58. > :59:03.after that. We said, after the 2-2, Hibs will win it. If one team is

:59:04. > :59:08.going to score, it was Hibs. In the final analysis, was it about desire,

:59:09. > :59:12.Michael? That was it. Hibs looked dead on their feet at 2-1. Pat had

:59:13. > :59:15.spoken about trying to change the formation to get back into the game.

:59:16. > :59:20.They didn't pose a threat in the second half. Just lifted their

:59:21. > :59:25.energy levels from somewhere. There is a family snap, the Murray family

:59:26. > :59:30.celebrating the Hibs win as much as anyone at the moment. Judy Murray in

:59:31. > :59:34.charge of the photograph and Andy Murray, who is getting himself

:59:35. > :59:35.started in the French Open tennis will be delighted to hear the news

:59:36. > :59:46.from here as well. Yes, you take a lot of stick over

:59:47. > :59:52.the years as a Hibs fan waiting for this moment. It almost hasn't sunk

:59:53. > :59:59.in yet. They need to get everybody off the pitch so they can lift the

:00:00. > :00:03.trophy. The Hibs like to celebrate by singing sunshine in Leith and

:00:04. > :00:08.everything, they've not had chance to do that yet. And we'd like to see

:00:09. > :00:12.that chance. And also the players, you want to get out there and

:00:13. > :00:17.celebrate with the fans. Hopefully with them in the stands. There is an

:00:18. > :00:22.irony, Hibs fans have waited so long to win the Scottish Cup, what

:00:23. > :00:26.they've done by coming on the pitch is delaying the presentation of that

:00:27. > :00:30.piece of silverware. I can understand why some Hibs fans are on

:00:31. > :00:36.the pitch, but the ones that run up to Rangers fans, that's silly. We

:00:37. > :00:40.can hear from Anthony Stokes. Talk me through that. I am stuck for

:00:41. > :00:43.words at the moment, just an unbelievable day and an unbelievable

:00:44. > :00:48.result. What a performance and effort from all the staff, players,

:00:49. > :00:53.everybody at the club. I think we deserved it today. We never gave up,

:00:54. > :00:58.never gave in. One of the highlights of my career. On a personal level, a

:00:59. > :01:02.dream day for you? It was unbelievable. I actually thought I

:01:03. > :01:06.could have had a couple more goals. I scored at good stages in the game.

:01:07. > :01:11.I think it's fitting that David Gray scores the winner. He's been

:01:12. > :01:17.outstanding. Great captain and he's led us great throughout the season.

:01:18. > :01:20.For the fans it's just unbelievable. With the history. It's hard to put

:01:21. > :01:25.it into words at the moment. Some boisterous scenes at the end. Your

:01:26. > :01:32.manager saying well done. It's been a long wait for this club, hasn't

:01:33. > :01:36.it? Yes, so much talk about it here, and this year to get beaten in a

:01:37. > :01:39.final already, but this is the one we wanted. We wanted to get

:01:40. > :01:42.promotion this year but for the fans we wanted. We wanted to get

:01:43. > :01:49.this will mean a lot and we are grateful for the support. We will

:01:50. > :01:52.just enjoy it now. Spoke to you a few days ago about using today to

:01:53. > :01:58.answer some critics, do you feel you did that? I did. I heard a couple of

:01:59. > :02:02.people piping up before the game, ex-players than that. I said to you

:02:03. > :02:06.I never doubted my own ability. It's down to me to perform and I done

:02:07. > :02:14.that today. I don't care about my performance or my goals, I'm just so

:02:15. > :02:19.happy that the club has finally won this cup. Congratulations and enjoy

:02:20. > :02:26.your night. Cheers. Getting raffled on the way passed by Alan Stubbs. I

:02:27. > :02:31.think Celtic have a year option on keeping Anthony Stokes, and based on

:02:32. > :02:35.that they probably will. Hibs would obviously love to keep him if they

:02:36. > :02:39.could possibly do that. These are all worries for another day. One

:02:40. > :02:45.last word, Alan Stubbs made the change we were screaming for here,

:02:46. > :02:49.bringing Henderson on, goes on to win 3-2, well done, manager. Two

:02:50. > :02:55.more words, John McGinn. Silly question, how are you feeling?

:02:56. > :03:03.Unbelievable. Everyone questioned my character and bottle, and to come

:03:04. > :03:07.back from 2-1 down to win 3-2. I'm just delighted for the fans and

:03:08. > :03:11.everyone associated with the club. It has been hanging over their heads

:03:12. > :03:14.for a long time and we have finally done it and I am over the moon. Is

:03:15. > :03:27.that phrase beginning to annoy the players? Definitely... There's

:03:28. > :03:35.absolutely no chance of this happening. It was an ambitious move,

:03:36. > :03:44.but it was never really happening, was it? They have just about left

:03:45. > :03:49.you alone. Was it beginning to annoy you guys? It was. When you know it

:03:50. > :03:53.is not true, you have that you guys? It was. When you know it

:03:54. > :03:58.determination inside you to go and do it. It was just an incredible

:03:59. > :04:03.feeling. The manager said he always believed in you guys. Yes, the whole

:04:04. > :04:07.week. I had a feeling we were going to do it, and we were all positive

:04:08. > :04:12.going into it. Rangers are a good side, don't get me wrong, and they

:04:13. > :04:18.had a lot of the ball. But we were more clinical. Well done, enjoy your

:04:19. > :04:22.night. How much of a difference will the Scottish Cup final win make to

:04:23. > :04:32.Hibs in terms of the squad they can have next season? It could be huge.

:04:33. > :04:37.Obviously next season they are not going to have any televised games in

:04:38. > :04:42.the championship. They are going to lose the parachute payments. The

:04:43. > :04:47.potential of attracting and keeping people with European football, that

:04:48. > :04:52.could be massive. You can't quantify it at the moment. Hibs managed to

:04:53. > :04:56.keep hold of the majority of that squad then I think the club as a

:04:57. > :05:04.whole have done a great job, keeping that squad together. Hopefully we

:05:05. > :05:08.will get a trophy presentation eventually. As a supporter as

:05:09. > :05:12.opposed to a player I would have preferred winning the Scottish Cup

:05:13. > :05:19.than going up. I know every player and every person at the club would

:05:20. > :05:24.have probably preferred to go up. But this will be remembered longer.

:05:25. > :05:30.For the fans. Exactly. Championship to the Premiership, there is

:05:31. > :05:36.something there. Very important. But this will be remembered. Nobody

:05:37. > :05:39.remembered that you got back to the Premier League, Hibs should be in

:05:40. > :05:42.the Premier League. Let's hear from the man who scored the goal which

:05:43. > :05:46.set of this, the late, late show the man who scored the goal which

:05:47. > :05:51.from David Gray. I have a feeling that is a gold you will not forget

:05:52. > :05:57.for a long time? I don't forget many to be honest. James made of this.

:05:58. > :06:04.Scoring a goal in the last minute. It is Roy of the Rovers stuff. Yes.

:06:05. > :06:07.Talk me through the goal itself. I just remember there being a corner,

:06:08. > :06:12.great delivery, he put two great balls in. I was getting my head on

:06:13. > :06:18.it first and that's all I can remember to be honest. The manager,

:06:19. > :06:26.John McGinn, Anthony Stokes, all said that phrase was beginning to

:06:27. > :06:29.annoy you. Yes, so disappointed not to get promoted, we believed we were

:06:30. > :06:33.good enough to get out of this league. Winning the cup just puts to

:06:34. > :06:39.bed people saying you do not have the character. We have managed to

:06:40. > :06:40.come back, and it is credit to the lads and everybody involved,

:06:41. > :06:45.amazing. Does that heal the wounds lads and everybody involved,

:06:46. > :06:51.of the play-offs? It certainly helps, definitely. I'm sure the fans

:06:52. > :06:55.will go home very happy. We are not in the SPL next season but it gives

:06:56. > :06:58.us the confidence we can go on to win the league next year. Talk to me

:06:59. > :07:02.about what the manager means to these players and his input this

:07:03. > :07:06.season? Not just this season but from the minute he came on the door.

:07:07. > :07:12.I was lucky enough to be his first signing and I've got a lot to be

:07:13. > :07:20.thankful for. He's built this team, him and all his staff. It's been

:07:21. > :07:25.such a group effort. So happy to be involved. You are the cup final

:07:26. > :07:30.hero, enjoy it. Cheers. Shades of Wembley from way back with that

:07:31. > :07:36.collapsed set of goalposts. I think many fans are getting a mentor of

:07:37. > :07:40.the special occasion. We used to laugh a bit about. Finally they have

:07:41. > :07:44.got it under control and hopefully these fans can enjoy something

:07:45. > :07:49.they've waited a decent little period of time for. And let's not

:07:50. > :07:50.forget in the midst of this, that was a really entertaining Scottish

:07:51. > :07:58.Cup final today. Great game, wasn't was a really entertaining Scottish

:07:59. > :08:04.it? Oh yeah, went up and down. I must say, the second half, after the

:08:05. > :08:11.goal of Rangers, was not much changed. But you still felt there

:08:12. > :08:21.was something that could happen. And yeah, I think Rangers did start

:08:22. > :08:25.touching the ball to each other. Because we said Hibs looked tired,

:08:26. > :08:35.but suddenly Rangers gave them a new energy by losing every ball. Just

:08:36. > :08:39.waiting and waiting. We've been saying all along, the main objective

:08:40. > :08:44.for Rangers was realised by getting that promotion. Yeah, no,

:08:45. > :08:47.definitely. Look, they've got the Premiership to look forward to next

:08:48. > :08:54.year and obviously winning the petrify cup as well. The players

:08:55. > :08:59.will be devastated they have not won the cup. But they've got a lot to be

:09:00. > :09:06.proud of. Dangers have come on leaps and bounds. Credit to the club and

:09:07. > :09:09.manager. But this day is for Hibs, they have waited long enough for it.

:09:10. > :09:13.Hopefully they will see the trophy get lifted soon enough. They did

:09:14. > :09:16.deserve it. When it came to the crunch they found energy from

:09:17. > :09:23.somewhere and managed to get a last-minute goal, which is normally

:09:24. > :09:28.what has happened against them. At 1-1 Hibs were beginning to lose it,

:09:29. > :09:32.looked tired. We had a discussion here, change it now, Fortune favours

:09:33. > :09:40.the brave, time to go for it. The change was not made, they go to- one

:09:41. > :09:43.ahead, you think they've left it too late again. Give the players their

:09:44. > :09:56.credit, when they did make the change they completely took over.

:09:57. > :10:02.And then it was always an. It was the first time since the semifinal

:10:03. > :10:08.but I thought Hibs would win. You were thinking you would get a draw

:10:09. > :10:11.when they went 3-2 up! Joking aside it was the first time I thought Hibs

:10:12. > :10:17.could win. Psychologically the Rangers players. And Henderson

:10:18. > :10:28.coming on. He has quality on the ball and we saw that. Rangers

:10:29. > :10:33.couldn't times to each other and you felt every ball could be dangerous

:10:34. > :10:41.for Rangers. I think he is a popular choice among the Hibs players to be

:10:42. > :10:45.the hero, he is 100% every time. Put in a fantastic tackle, think it was

:10:46. > :10:49.Dean Shiels in the middle of the park, took an injury off the back of

:10:50. > :10:52.it but he kept going. Somebody you could imagine running through a

:10:53. > :10:56.brick wall. Anthony Stokes saying he was delighted for him to get the

:10:57. > :11:02.winning goal, and he looks like a good character. Stereotypical type

:11:03. > :11:07.of captain and leader but there are so many of them. The crowd behind us

:11:08. > :11:13.are all going nuts. Great day for them. Having watched Gray this

:11:14. > :11:17.season, he's played a lot of games being injured and kept on going. A

:11:18. > :11:23.lot of other footballers get a wee bit of an injury and go off. Certain

:11:24. > :11:28.players will just go through it for the team. When he went down with

:11:29. > :11:33.that injury, youthful, that was bad news for Hibs. They had a ready use

:11:34. > :11:37.their substitutes. Then you thought, no, it's David Gray, he will be OK.

:11:38. > :11:42.He would do it in a normal game, but in a cup final he would do anything.

:11:43. > :11:48.Does it feel like relief as much as delight, that the taunting can stop?

:11:49. > :12:00.Yes, you look at the fans, that's definitely a huge, huge part of it.

:12:01. > :12:06.David Gray's life, what ever he does from now on, a lot of people will

:12:07. > :12:09.come back to this moment, that day, those seconds. He will look back to

:12:10. > :12:13.it, and if he is ever asked in the future about his football career,

:12:14. > :12:17.he's just had it. Lots of other things happening your career. He's

:12:18. > :12:21.just fortunate that the great thing that happens is a great thing that

:12:22. > :12:26.everyone sees and remembers. It's not like a missed penalty. Wouldn't

:12:27. > :12:29.that be terrible? Any doubt about Alan Stubbs staying on for next

:12:30. > :12:33.season for another crack at getting up? I think there are obviously

:12:34. > :12:36.question marks. But that's for another day. This is a celebration

:12:37. > :12:41.today. They've got the another day. This is a celebration

:12:42. > :12:47.contemplate and think about it. I think there is genuine affection for

:12:48. > :12:50.the club from Alan Stubbs and he's done a fantastic job. Murmurs that

:12:51. > :12:52.some of the crowd were not happy and thought they should look to change.

:12:53. > :12:55.some of the crowd were not happy and For me they've got a manager in

:12:56. > :13:00.place that they would be doing well to get somebody as good as. He's a

:13:01. > :13:07.top guy, seems like a really good manager as well, who the players

:13:08. > :13:09.really have an affection for. Winning the cup, obviously, you

:13:10. > :13:16.would think that gives them a bit of a better chance of hanging around.

:13:17. > :13:22.Here's another shout for you. Some managers have said, I've taken this

:13:23. > :13:26.club as far as it can go, how much better can you get than winning the

:13:27. > :13:31.cup for the first time in 114 years. Some chunks of turf has been ripped

:13:32. > :13:36.up. It was a lovely surface at the start but some souvenirs have been

:13:37. > :13:43.grabbed which will be appearing in the back gardens of quite a few Hibs

:13:44. > :13:46.fans, I think, to mark the day. The police have taken their chances just

:13:47. > :13:50.now. It's not just the fact they are making sure everything is safe and

:13:51. > :13:54.that the Hibs fans don't run on again, I think also they are

:13:55. > :13:58.allowing the Rangers fans to leave the vicinity, outside the stadium.

:13:59. > :14:02.There was a bit of trouble after the game, they don't want any more. I

:14:03. > :14:09.know Michael said very quickly let's talk about the success, it's about

:14:10. > :14:13.getting the balance right, it had the potential to get ugly. The

:14:14. > :14:17.reaction did not seem to be that quick in terms of security.

:14:18. > :14:24.I'm loathe to have a go at security people when it's fans that have ran

:14:25. > :14:28.on from both sides. The vast majority Hibs fans. In times gone

:14:29. > :14:32.by, when this was a regular thing, the police were more ready for it

:14:33. > :14:36.and they zipped on quick and the horses were galloping. Those horses

:14:37. > :14:43.came on there, they weren't galloping on, they took their time,

:14:44. > :14:52.no-one is getting injured. How is your heart, Rob? One of the fans has

:14:53. > :14:58.just slapped the window of the studio! The Hibs fans that ran in

:14:59. > :15:02.front of the Rangers fans, for me, the security and the police surely

:15:03. > :15:06.to goodness they have to have all eventualities covered. It was a bit

:15:07. > :15:12.slow in terms of trying to get on and break things up. It is all under

:15:13. > :15:16.control now. The Hibs support can see the team lifting the trophy.

:15:17. > :15:26.When a crowd is moving, it is hard to stop it. When you have 2,000 or

:15:27. > :15:33.3,000 people suddenly in one minute on the pitch, you have to have a lot

:15:34. > :15:37.of police to stop it. We spoke about relief in terms of Hibs winning the

:15:38. > :15:43.Cup, there is relief that that didn't kick-off. Anyway, the news of

:15:44. > :15:48.Rangers is they have received their runners-up medals inside. That has

:15:49. > :15:53.happened. There will be a trophy celebration shortly. But you can

:15:54. > :15:58.understand that that will be delayed until it feels like the right time

:15:59. > :16:04.because of course there are so many supporters on the pitch. It looks as

:16:05. > :16:11.if everybody now has been put back where they belong. Well, Rangers

:16:12. > :16:18.won't mind getting the runners-up medal indoors because you don't

:16:19. > :16:23.really want that. Exactly. They will feel frustrated. Embarrassed is a

:16:24. > :16:27.big word. It is not a time to be happy. If you get it inside the

:16:28. > :16:35.dressing room, fine... Did Hibs win it rather than Rangers losing it?

:16:36. > :16:41.Overall, Hibs deserved to win. Rangers had the moment to kill the

:16:42. > :16:46.game. After the 2-1, Rangers could have easily had possession and let

:16:47. > :16:50.Hibs run like crazy. They didn't do that. The players didn't have the

:16:51. > :16:56.calmness to finish the game and maybe that has to do with the age

:16:57. > :17:03.and experience because they tried for the 3-1. They had to be patient.

:17:04. > :17:06.You are losing the ball every second, you know you will have some

:17:07. > :17:12.trouble at the end. The applause outside was for the police who were

:17:13. > :17:16.lined up on the halfway line... That is not something you hear every

:17:17. > :17:20.day... And there was applause. They have moved off to the end of the

:17:21. > :17:26.pitch and we are waiting on the police word and then we can have the

:17:27. > :17:31.trophy celebration. It's been a long delay. Hibs players and officials

:17:32. > :17:35.and everyone associated with the club won't mind waiting. As you say,

:17:36. > :17:39.they have waited long enough. It is frustration. You do want to get your

:17:40. > :17:46.hands on that trophy. The celebration also go on for a long

:17:47. > :17:49.time. And just look back on it and finally get a chance to look back on

:17:50. > :17:54.a special day. Hampden was brilliant today. The stadium was beautiful. It

:17:55. > :18:01.was a lovely day. It will be seared in the memories of every single Hibs

:18:02. > :18:05.fan. Rangers have been here dozens of times before. The Hibs fans, it

:18:06. > :18:09.will be seared in their memories for the rest of their lives. David Gray

:18:10. > :18:15.will remember this. There is not a Hibs fan that won't feel exactly the

:18:16. > :18:18.same. There was a lot of talk at the semifinal about Stokes and Henderson

:18:19. > :18:20.not being able to play if Celtic, their parent club, had reached the

:18:21. > :18:26.final. How they made the most of that? They did. Look, you heard

:18:27. > :18:29.Anthony Stokes there talking about how people had been questioning his

:18:30. > :18:33.performances and things like that. He will have been questioning it

:18:34. > :18:37.himself. He knows he has the ability and since he's been at Hibs, there's

:18:38. > :18:47.been flashes of it. Today he put in a top drawer performance. Henderson

:18:48. > :18:54.as well. He added a bit of quality for hibs in the final third coming

:18:55. > :18:57.off the bench. He mixed it up a bit. The two guys there, had Celtic got

:18:58. > :19:01.through to the final, might not have played. They have played their part

:19:02. > :19:09.today against Rangers. Hibs are the only team out with the top tier of

:19:10. > :19:17.Scottish football to win the Scottish Cup since East Fife. That

:19:18. > :19:21.is a stat I carry about with me! Now you can look at some interesting

:19:22. > :19:24.ones from the Hibs point of view. Yes, they are in the lower league.

:19:25. > :19:29.It doesn't feel like a lower league team. It doesn't look like a lower

:19:30. > :19:33.league team. The way they play doesn't look that way.

:19:34. > :19:37.Professionally, they are. So, in a way, you would look back to that

:19:38. > :19:44.East Fife team, that was a bigger thing. Were they a good team in '38?

:19:45. > :19:48.I seen the tail end of them(!) History being rewritten. This was

:19:49. > :19:54.the moment that settled it in stoppage-time. It looked like we

:19:55. > :20:02.were bound for extra time. David Gray thought otherwise. He wanted

:20:03. > :20:08.that header so badly? Yes. They had guys who can, yeah, have a proper

:20:09. > :20:13.header. They were eager to finish it off before going to extra time. You

:20:14. > :20:22.felt it a little bit. It still has to happen. One thing, Rangers are

:20:23. > :20:26.never going to go. Sometimes that happens in football. You have it

:20:27. > :20:31.yourself when you are on the park. You think, we are going to do it.

:20:32. > :20:35.You have to put it into action. Very much like Kenny Miller's goal in the

:20:36. > :20:40.first half, the header, wanting it, David Gray there... You heard him

:20:41. > :20:48.saying, as soon as the ball come in, I'm getting it! It looked like that.

:20:49. > :20:52.We have all been in situations like that, you look at the opponents and

:20:53. > :20:56.think, "They have gone, we have got them here." And there was a wee

:20:57. > :21:00.feeling of that when the equaliser went in. It may have taken it to

:21:01. > :21:05.extra time but Hibs were getting stronger. Kenny Miller probably

:21:06. > :21:10.didn't deserve to be on the losing side today. For a 36-year-old, that

:21:11. > :21:15.was an exhilarating performance? He was everywhere. In the last part of

:21:16. > :21:21.the game, you want also to be still involved to keep the ball. He was,

:21:22. > :21:26.like, chasing people back, taking slides and it was incredible what he

:21:27. > :21:32.did. For him, it was quite harsh to lift the trophy. Still, all the

:21:33. > :21:38.chances that Hibs had today, they were deserved winners. The moment is

:21:39. > :21:44.almost with us. Hibs gathering again in the tunnel. And about to

:21:45. > :21:51.re-emerge into the Hampden sunshine. Not one Hibs fan has left. They all

:21:52. > :21:57.want to be here and to cherish the moment that their team finally wins

:21:58. > :22:03.the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1902. 3-2 it was, with David

:22:04. > :22:13.Gray getting that stoppage-time winner. I think the referees will

:22:14. > :22:18.get a round of applause. That will change the habits of a lifetime(!) A

:22:19. > :22:26.wee word for the refs. How many bookings? I thought they managed the

:22:27. > :22:31.game well. They gave two bookings. We never spoke about them. That is

:22:32. > :22:34.what you want to hear. Well done. For the presentation ceremony, as

:22:35. > :22:40.Steven McLean gets his award for the afternoon. It is back to Craig and

:22:41. > :22:44.back to Liam. COMMENTARY: Steven McLean had a good

:22:57. > :23:02.Dallas. Shortly, the stage will be free for Alan Stubbs and his Hibs

:23:25. > :23:32.CHEERING It was a 1-0 victory over Celtic.

:23:50. > :23:56.substitutes who came on today - Liam Henderson, James Keatings and Niklas

:23:57. > :24:02.Gunnarsson. Hibernian's 14th Scottish Cup Final. They featured in

:24:03. > :24:07.three of the last five. The last two, they can forget about them now.

:24:08. > :24:14.5-1 to Hearts and 3-0 to Celtic. They don't matter anymore. Not for

:24:15. > :24:21.Hibs. This is them now on to a third triumph in this tournament. It puts

:24:22. > :24:26.them alongside Kilmarnock, Clyde and St Mirren. They had to wait a fair

:24:27. > :24:34.bit of time between Scottish Cup win number two and three. Craig

:24:35. > :24:39.Paterson? I can name The Famous Five team one to 11. This team are

:24:40. > :24:46.officially now Easter Road legends on the back of today's result.

:24:47. > :24:51.Incredible. Yeah. Well, he's the captain, he's the hero, and his

:24:52. > :24:56.picture and the rest of the team that he is guiding up the steps here

:24:57. > :25:01.at Hampden will now be immortalised in photographs, paintings that will

:25:02. > :25:08.adorn the Easter Road walls. There is a big banner over on the far side

:25:09. > :25:17.that says, "Time for heroes". These men in green and white are heroes.

:25:18. > :25:21.The hoodoo to end all hoodoos is over. Hibernian have won the

:25:22. > :25:23.The hoodoo to end all hoodoos is Scottish Cup! It is not a dream. It

:25:24. > :25:43.is reality! They lost it in 1914 to Celtic. They

:26:05. > :26:11.these Hibernian players as they hold aloft the oldest of national

:26:12. > :26:14.trophies. Let's be honest, from a big Hibee background, what does it

:26:15. > :26:24.mean to anyone connected with the club, from supporters to boardroom?

:26:25. > :26:28.The jokes are over for a start. It's been a long, long run. It's been a

:26:29. > :26:32.long, long wait. On days like this, all of a sudden, it is worth waiting

:26:33. > :26:35.for. Now, Hibs have to build on this. They have to get out of the

:26:36. > :26:41.Championship. They have European football to look forward to next

:26:42. > :26:46.season as well. Great sight, Darren McGregor, a big Hibee, holding the

:26:47. > :26:52.trophy aloft. He's had two gruesome injuries to contend with. John

:26:53. > :26:57.McGinn and Liam Henderson. Liam Henderson on loan from Celtic. A

:26:58. > :27:09.wonderful day for Hibernian Football Club. What a party it is going to be

:27:10. > :27:14.tonight. That end of Edinburgh will be jumping. It has been a long, long

:27:15. > :27:19.wait. They deserve to celebrate. They have come to Hampden time after

:27:20. > :27:23.time after time and had to trudge back along the M8 after yet another

:27:24. > :27:28.defeat. Today is a day that every Hibs fan will remember. A special

:27:29. > :27:34.cheer for Alan Stubbs, who was on the big-screens here as well. The
