:00:49. > :01:16.From 19 years old. I was born in 1928. 94 this month. League cup
:01:17. > :01:27.final, 1971. That was fantastic. It has been 96 years we won the
:01:28. > :01:35.Scottish Cup. Aberdeen have won the Scottish Cup seven times. It is a
:01:36. > :01:42.big hurdle to overcome. This year it is our time. Just keep your eyes on
:01:43. > :01:55.it. Magical memories for Partick Thistle
:01:56. > :02:00.fans, can they roll back the years at Pittodrie this afternoon? It is
:02:01. > :02:05.40 years since they won here and there are 20 points between these
:02:06. > :02:17.teams in the Premiership as we speak. -- 14 years. It is cup day at
:02:18. > :02:21.Pittodrie. Rangers, Hibs and Celtic already through to the William Hill
:02:22. > :02:28.Scottish Cup semifinals. We will complete the picture this afternoon,
:02:29. > :02:33.or maybe a replay is not out of the question considering the form the
:02:34. > :02:37.jags are in at the moment. The fourth quarter-final live from a
:02:38. > :02:42.Pittodrie and live on the BBC. Michael Stewart is alongside me.
:02:43. > :02:46.This all the more youthful version to go, Aberdeen legend Willie Miller
:02:47. > :02:50.here as well. The Aberdeen team is a talking point. The selection of
:02:51. > :02:57.players. We believe this might be the formation. Absolutely, it has
:02:58. > :03:04.been very settled for Derek McInnis in recent weeks. He has a few injury
:03:05. > :03:08.problems. He will have to shuffle the pack little bit. He says there
:03:09. > :03:15.will be three at the back, I'm not sure. I think Johnny Hayes will be
:03:16. > :03:23.played on the left side of the formation and Graham Sherry through
:03:24. > :03:26.the middle. But Logan loves going forward, as does Hayes. I can see
:03:27. > :03:34.the centre-backs being asked to take care of a lone striker. It is very
:03:35. > :03:43.versatile and a good squad to choose from. I am doubtful that Logan will
:03:44. > :03:47.play at three. O'Connor 's is on the bench, he since been out of the
:03:48. > :03:52.picture. You would think he was perfect to play three at the back.
:03:53. > :03:59.He has only had the one bad game, that was the cup final, other than
:04:00. > :04:03.that he has been solid. That way you would get another centre-back rather
:04:04. > :04:09.than Shay Logan, who has not played in that position before. I think
:04:10. > :04:13.Partick Thistle is a lot more straightforward. This is the team
:04:14. > :04:19.that won at Dundee, their fourth win on the trot. You mentioned already
:04:20. > :04:25.they are on such a good run of form. Perhaps it might have been a
:04:26. > :04:30.difficult decision. Coming up to ten two, do you play the same go
:04:31. > :04:33.defensive. They have come to everybody's attention with the form
:04:34. > :04:40.they have been on. I am sure coming up here, they will be in good Vettel
:04:41. > :04:45.and form and believing they can pull off a victory here. It would be an
:04:46. > :04:51.upset. Aberdeen have been on a great run apart from the result against
:04:52. > :04:58.Hamilton. The third quarterfinal was a Sunday lunchtime kick-off. Celtic
:04:59. > :05:03.against St Mirren, a very poignant moment, a minute silence before the
:05:04. > :05:35.match in memory of the Lisbon Lion, Tommy Gallo.
:05:36. > :05:47.Lets get the story of the match. COMMENTATOR: St Mirren's Scottish
:05:48. > :05:51.Cup dream is at an end but the 45 minutes, they were in charge of the
:05:52. > :05:58.match. They went in front. Looking like they might do the impossible at
:05:59. > :06:01.Celtic Park. To end Celtic's unbeaten domestic run this season.
:06:02. > :06:07.But Celtic ran riot in the second half. Mikael Lustig headed them
:06:08. > :06:11.level and within a minute, Scott Sinclair had put them ahead. After
:06:12. > :06:17.that it was a case of how many. Mousa Dembele got his obligatory
:06:18. > :06:20.goal and Leigh Griffiths came on as a substitute to wrap things up with
:06:21. > :06:24.a fourth goal for Celtic. Ultimately a substitute to wrap things up with
:06:25. > :06:28.it was comfortable but credit to centre Beren for a spirited
:06:29. > :06:37.performance, particularly in the first area. -- St Mirren. Celtic
:06:38. > :06:44.still on track for the domestic treble with Brendan Rodgers in his
:06:45. > :06:46.first season as manager. That looked interesting for an hour. Steven
:06:47. > :06:54.Thomson was getting extremely excited. They did really well. Jack
:06:55. > :07:01.Ross had been there with Alloa and help Celtic, St Mirren did one
:07:02. > :07:05.better. They hit the bar is all, it could have been 2-0 but within a
:07:06. > :07:12.couple of minutes, Celtic went to the other end. St Mirren have to
:07:13. > :07:16.take confidence from that. They are in a difficult position but a
:07:17. > :07:22.spirited performance. It is all about building up to the BBC, coming
:07:23. > :07:30.your way in a matter of minutes, let us hear from the managers. Alan
:07:31. > :07:35.Archibald in charge of inform Partick Thistle. But first,
:07:36. > :07:38.Aberdeen's Derek McInnis. Your macro changes from the Hamilton game, talk
:07:39. > :07:47.me through the line-up and your thinking? A couple of forced
:07:48. > :07:52.changes, Ryan Jack in the long with Mark Reynolds. We have Johnny Hayes
:07:53. > :07:58.back which is a bonus. It didn't look likely. He was confident he
:07:59. > :08:01.could do a training session yesterday and he came through that
:08:02. > :08:07.with no reaction so we are delighted to have him back. Peter Pawlett is
:08:08. > :08:14.in to give us pace in those areas as well to try and get them the size of
:08:15. > :08:23.their centre-backs. And his training has been good. He can impact for us
:08:24. > :08:31.was utterly. Those are the changes. James scored twice against Partick
:08:32. > :08:36.Thistle. Playing against their big three centre-backs, we feel playing
:08:37. > :08:39.with one striker would be a bit unfair on Adam Rooney so we have
:08:40. > :08:47.that support. Three or four at the back? You will find out soon enough.
:08:48. > :08:54.We try to be flexible with what we do. We want to make sure we are in a
:08:55. > :09:02.position to apply pressure and try to get after Artic this'll and make
:09:03. > :09:05.sure we nullify their threat. A lot has been made about their defensive
:09:06. > :09:10.record, they are a tough team to break down and very solid. They have
:09:11. > :09:17.a definite five when they don't have the ball. We have to make sure we
:09:18. > :09:23.get the game moving the way we want to. There is a bit of flexibility in
:09:24. > :09:28.the system. You go with the same starting XI, given your form it was
:09:29. > :09:35.an easy decision? Won not really, Aberdeen is a bit different. We have
:09:36. > :09:40.a couple of guys who have caused Aberdeen problems before but we
:09:41. > :09:46.decided to go with the same 11. Confidence must be sky-high? Yes. We
:09:47. > :09:52.are in good form, the last team to beat us was Aberdeen. Since then we
:09:53. > :09:56.have been on a good run. We have not got a better chance than today with
:09:57. > :10:00.the way we have been playing. The last time Partick beat Aberdeen
:10:01. > :10:05.here, you played. What has to be done well to get a repeat
:10:06. > :10:09.performance? Everything we have done in recent weeks. Still having that
:10:10. > :10:16.desire and application to get up the pitch. We are by no means parking
:10:17. > :10:20.the bus, we have tried to play football and get in the box and it
:10:21. > :10:26.has worked for us recently. Good luck. They have won their last four,
:10:27. > :10:31.Partick Thistle, they have conceded only two in their last ten games.
:10:32. > :10:37.Alan Archibald saying they are organised and every player seems to
:10:38. > :10:41.know his job. I can't help but be impressed by Partick Thistle lately.
:10:42. > :10:46.They were performing quite well even when they didn't pick up results.
:10:47. > :10:50.This shows the work ethic. Not just the back three and the wingbacks,
:10:51. > :10:57.you have protection in midfield as well. It is all over the park, a
:10:58. > :11:01.tough unit to play against. Getting tight to players and closing them
:11:02. > :11:05.down. They went to Tynecastle and came here, they didn't allow the
:11:06. > :11:10.opposition any time with the ball. This is a prime example, not
:11:11. > :11:14.allowing the runners in behind you and that is how you get clean
:11:15. > :11:22.sheets. You look at the hard work to close the ball down, it becomes very
:11:23. > :11:28.difficult. Look how deep they are as well. Everybody behind the ball. I
:11:29. > :11:33.think that has been the source of their success in this run of late.
:11:34. > :11:40.Just passing the runner on, keeping the shape. A big gap in the middle
:11:41. > :11:43.but Barton is covering it. Very good defensive structure for Partick
:11:44. > :11:49.Thistle. The game at Tynecastle, they got up and at Hearts. They
:11:50. > :11:53.didn't allow them to get in the final third and it was man.
:11:54. > :11:59.Difficult to start the game and I expect similar here today against
:12:00. > :12:02.Aberdeen. I feel like I am interrupting Willie because he is
:12:03. > :12:07.giving the Royal wave to the fans beside us. If I can derail you a
:12:08. > :12:12.moment and speak about how Aberdeen play and have a go about their
:12:13. > :12:16.business. They like McGinn and Hayes heavily involved but they have other
:12:17. > :12:23.plans. They are the key players, absolutely. They love playing as
:12:24. > :12:30.wide as they possibly can. Hayes on one side and McGinn on the other.
:12:31. > :12:36.That changes things for Hayes. You see him again here, a great example
:12:37. > :12:42.of him hitting the byline. Johnny Haynes coming in from the wider
:12:43. > :12:48.position this time. -- Hayes. He just says shoulder and drops the
:12:49. > :12:54.ball in the box, not his best cross on that occasion. Graham shinny such
:12:55. > :12:56.an important player going forward. Making sure that he is covering in
:12:57. > :13:03.the midfield area. Denny Maclean, Making sure that he is covering in
:13:04. > :13:11.what a magnificent pass that was for Adam Rooney. He knew exactly what he
:13:12. > :13:16.was doing. He is a player that gets forward. Great strength. He has
:13:17. > :13:21.vision and ability to cross the as well. He can put a defence under
:13:22. > :13:28.pressure. Strength from the midfield. Young and athletic. And he
:13:29. > :13:31.likes a strike at goal as well. Aberdeen get through the stages of
:13:32. > :13:36.the park quickly. Without just dumping it. That ball from Kenny
:13:37. > :13:45.McLean, that is setting the striker up. They have a well drilled
:13:46. > :13:50.backline, Partick Thistle. The fourth quarterfinal in the William
:13:51. > :13:53.Hill Scottish Cup, Aberdeen going in as favourites but you cannot take
:13:54. > :13:58.your eyes off the recent form displayed by Partick Thistle since
:13:59. > :14:03.losing here at Pittodrie. They have not conceded in those four games.
:14:04. > :14:08.They feel they will never have a much better chance to get back to a
:14:09. > :14:13.Scottish Cup semifinal. It is Aberdeen against Partick Thistle,
:14:14. > :14:21.live on the BBC and your commentators are Stephen Thompson
:14:22. > :14:24.and Liam McLeod. COMMENTATOR: Stewart Milne, the Aberdeen chairman
:14:25. > :14:30.getting ready for the action like everyone else. Just one place left
:14:31. > :14:33.in the semifinals. Aberdeen and Partick Thistle will fight it out
:14:34. > :14:39.here at Pittodrie. Just the third time in this competition. Just a
:14:40. > :14:44.month after they last met here. The last time Partick Thistle lost a
:14:45. > :14:54.game, the loss they failed to score in a game and failed to keep a clean
:14:55. > :14:55.sheet. This is the Dons 400th Scottish Cup tie as they continue
:14:56. > :15:01.sheet. This is the Dons 400th their quest to live the trophy for
:15:02. > :15:06.the first time since 1990. They have been starved of success in the
:15:07. > :15:11.Scottish Cup. Partick Thistle even longer as we saw at the beginning of
:15:12. > :15:18.the programme, 1921 is the only time they have lifted it. The only other
:15:19. > :15:24.final was nine years later. They are in good form, they haven't conceded
:15:25. > :15:31.a goal in any of their last four games. Aberdeen were the last team
:15:32. > :15:35.to score against them. Of all of the home teams in the quarterfinals,
:15:36. > :15:42.there is no doubt Aberdeen with the harder job. Rangers, Hibernian and
:15:43. > :15:58.Celtic all through to the draw which takes place at 5:30pm.
:15:59. > :16:04.Liam Sheedy knows what it is like to lift the silverware, having
:16:05. > :16:13.captained Inverness Caledonian Thistle a few years back. Johnny
:16:14. > :16:20.Hayes walking out with his Aberdeen team-mates, he has made it despite
:16:21. > :16:23.being all but ruled out from featuring against Partick Thistle
:16:24. > :16:29.this afternoon. His inclusion is a massive boost. Stockley has scored
:16:30. > :16:41.twice in his last two games against Partick Thistle. Captain Jack and
:16:42. > :16:44.defender Reynolds are injured. No reason to change things for Alan
:16:45. > :16:52.Archibald. This is the side that beat Dundee. Danny Devine starring
:16:53. > :17:02.in the Saint Ema that won the cup two years ago with Graham shinny.
:17:03. > :17:06.Kris Doolan always provides goals. You can see what a couple of
:17:07. > :17:07.injuries can do, a more inexperienced substitute bench than
:17:08. > :17:28.normally for the hosts. Derek McInnis and Alan Archibald are
:17:29. > :17:28.former team-mates at Dundee United. Scott Paterson played for Partick
:17:29. > :17:36.former team-mates at Dundee United. Thistle the last time they won here,
:17:37. > :17:41.14 years ago. Very experienced referee. Been in charge of three
:17:42. > :17:43.Scottish Cup finals and this is his third trip to Pittodrie this season,
:17:44. > :17:53.Aberdeen winning both of his previous visits. It will be Partick
:17:54. > :17:59.Thistle in the white, with Aberdeen in red. As they look to move into
:18:00. > :18:06.the semifinals. Both sides know what the prize is. It is the ninth time
:18:07. > :18:11.they have met in this competition. The Glasgow team only coming out on
:18:12. > :18:19.top once, that was in 1930 at five top once, that was in 1930 at five
:18:20. > :18:25.-- Firhill. Aberdeen have won the competition seven times, three times
:18:26. > :18:28.they have ousted Partick Thistle en route. The three favourite home
:18:29. > :18:31.teams of gone through but when the draw was made, this was the game
:18:32. > :18:37.that I thought would be the tightest. Aberdeen's home record has
:18:38. > :18:41.been superb, only losing to Celtic. But Partick Thistle come here in
:18:42. > :18:43.great form and will not have a better opportunity to reach the
:18:44. > :19:02.semis. Liam Lindsay, the Partick Thistle
:19:03. > :19:12.defender, has had another good season.
:19:13. > :19:21.We did wonder how Aberdeen would set up. Any real ideas, three or four at
:19:22. > :19:28.the back? 3-5- two, matching up against 3-5- two. Derek was talking
:19:29. > :19:32.about the back three, Partick go to a back five when they defend. They
:19:33. > :19:40.do have a presence protecting them in the midfield area with Osman and
:19:41. > :19:51.Barton. Derek McInnis has tried three at the back before, hasn't
:19:52. > :19:55.always worked. Nobody can argue with the job he has done at ten two since
:19:56. > :20:05.taking over almost exactly four years ago now.
:20:06. > :20:17.Nobody can argue about the job he is doing either. Almost unsung, Alan
:20:18. > :20:21.Archibald. The Partick Thistle box. Erskine scored a terrific goal here
:20:22. > :20:24.earlier this season, the force and they have met, Aberdeen winning all
:20:25. > :20:32.three but he scored a two riffing goal. Edwards, Erskine, concert I
:20:33. > :20:41.had to deal with it. A fantastic cross in and consider nine to
:20:42. > :20:57.defend. A wonderful first-time ball into the area. He will take it
:20:58. > :21:14.In it comes. Bubbling back of the head of Nile Keown, son of the
:21:15. > :21:19.Arsenal legend Martin Keown. I think he thought he was impeded, a floated
:21:20. > :21:32.corner, too high to get any purchase on the header.
:21:33. > :21:45.Stockley wins the header, he tends to. Decides to go himself, McGinlay
:21:46. > :21:48.with wide right. He wants to get a shot of early in the game but there
:21:49. > :21:57.acres of space on the right hand side.
:21:58. > :22:03.We mentioned Stockley scored a couple against Partick Thistle in
:22:04. > :22:10.his last two matches, one in Glasgow was tremendous. The lob? It was
:22:11. > :22:22.quite uncharacteristic but it was some finish.
:22:23. > :22:29.Their last four wins coming at St Johnstone in the last round, then
:22:30. > :22:36.Hearts and Dundee in midweek. Aberdeen losing at Hamilton, doesn't
:22:37. > :22:42.tell the story, utter dominance by the Dons but Hamilton defended
:22:43. > :22:49.stoutly. Another Partick Thistle corner, it has been a promising
:22:50. > :23:00.start for Alan or Archibald's team. They have started well. Erskine will
:23:01. > :23:03.take it. Already a bit of a legend after his previous spell at the
:23:04. > :23:11.club, helping them to promotion and they haven't looked back since.
:23:12. > :23:21.Again, not the best corner. April corner. Two poor ones. They had
:23:22. > :23:26.chances in the league game here last month, Aberdeen running at 2-0
:23:27. > :23:30.winners. Derek McInnis with a couple of changes, Stockley came on and
:23:31. > :23:39.scored but Partick Thistle had their chances.
:23:40. > :23:53.He drives forward for the Dons, Adam Rooney. A decent save. Excellent
:23:54. > :23:55.build-up play from Aberdeen. I think Rooney is tried to call that the far
:23:56. > :24:30.corner. He just didn't enough on it. Six and a half minutes in and
:24:31. > :24:48.Partick Thistle will be relatively content with the opening period.
:24:49. > :25:06.Here is Elliott. Hayes. He has been cleaned out by Osman. Look like a
:25:07. > :25:16.blatant bodycheck. Yes, absolutely, very cynical. You would think that
:25:17. > :25:20.would incur a yellow card for the Partick Thistle captain. He is lucky
:25:21. > :25:27.to escape that. I thought it was a yellow. Blatant bodycheck on Johnny
:25:28. > :25:38.Hayes. Doesn't look interested in going for the ball. Not the
:25:39. > :25:46.slightest. Hayes takes it. Maclean, Erskine goes.
:25:47. > :25:54.Clipping it through. Hayes might find himself having to come back
:25:55. > :26:02.more often than normal to help of the back. Set up differently than
:26:03. > :26:06.the games I have had success. Young not often you see Hayes as the last
:26:07. > :26:20.man in defence. Form is coming from the left-back area there. Did
:26:21. > :26:28.Scotland taking on Canada in a friendly and then Slovenia in the
:26:29. > :26:36.latest World Cup qualifying match. Tony Doherty has been called into
:26:37. > :26:43.Gordon Strachan's squad. Further indication the job the Aberdeen
:26:44. > :26:52.management duo have done here. Elliott was tripped. Looked soft. He
:26:53. > :27:02.is such a strong player, Stockley. You can see him pulling the jersey.
:27:03. > :27:09.Aberdeen's cup record at Pittodrie under Derek McInnis is superb. They
:27:10. > :27:13.have not been drawn at home all the time but they have not lost a
:27:14. > :27:21.domestic cup tie under Derek McInnis at Pittodrie. The only time they
:27:22. > :27:24.have lost was in the Europa league qualifier against Real Sociedad a
:27:25. > :27:29.couple of seasons back. That speaks volumes. Their home record in
:27:30. > :27:54.general has been incredible this season. Only Celtic beating them.
:27:55. > :28:01.When you have players of the size and presence in the middle, you have
:28:02. > :28:04.got to get deliveries in there and Aberdeen are normally so good from
:28:05. > :28:24.wide areas. That was a disappointing one.
:28:25. > :28:33.Rooney, he has been missed the goals again this season, 17 in the
:28:34. > :28:37.campaign. And counting. Missed the closing months of last season, it
:28:38. > :28:45.was a big blow in their quest to win the title last season. They lost
:28:46. > :28:46.Adam Rooney and Danny Ward, the goalkeeper, back to Liverpool, a
:28:47. > :29:29.month or two before that. It was Kenny Maclean who was
:29:30. > :29:36.described as a Rolls-Royce in midweek against Hamilton Academical.
:29:37. > :29:41.And then you know well. He is such a talented player. Talking about the
:29:42. > :29:46.Rolls-Royce engine, one of the fittest players I have ever played
:29:47. > :29:54.with. He can do the defensive side of the game well. He has grown in
:29:55. > :30:06.stature under Derek McInnis. Good work.
:30:07. > :30:15.He did really well there. It is a great run initially from into out.
:30:16. > :30:20.Clumsy from Taylor. You don't need to get that tight. I think he has
:30:21. > :30:29.bought the free that little bit, Doolan. He goes down very softly. A
:30:30. > :30:35.big chance now for Partick Thistle. Kris Doolan has hit double figures
:30:36. > :30:43.in each of the last two seasons. He will be hoping to get on the end of
:30:44. > :30:45.this. Better delivery from Erskine to the back post but couldn't quite
:30:46. > :31:12.get a head on it. A new system has been tried out. It
:31:13. > :31:18.is taking them a while to get into their stride. Nobody in support.
:31:19. > :31:22.We'll give him the benefit of the doubt because the pitch is really
:31:23. > :31:26.bad, there is hardly any grass on it and I'm going to give him the
:31:27. > :31:35.benefit of the doubt. A wild/ by Doolin. He will be disappointed with
:31:36. > :31:42.that. 98 goals he's got for Partick Thistle and he is such a big player
:31:43. > :31:46.for them. I was shown a picture of the pitch yesterday and it was
:31:47. > :31:51.hammering it down here in Aberdeen throughout the day yesterday and the
:31:52. > :31:52.pitch looked horrendous in the photograph that I saw. It is looking
:31:53. > :32:03.a lot better now. Always worth an effort because Nile
:32:04. > :32:10.McGinn has scored plenty from that kind of distance. He has got 12
:32:11. > :32:22.goals this season but I feel when he is in that wide area, he leans back.
:32:23. > :32:29.And that was the first time that Rooney and Stockley combined
:32:30. > :32:37.together and Paulette. They don't often play as a pairing up front,
:32:38. > :32:54.Aberdeen. McGinn scores aplenty and sets up as many as he scores.
:32:55. > :33:01.Lindsay had to deal with that because Paulette was in behind him.
:33:02. > :33:18.Peter Pawlett is out of contract come the end of the term.
:33:19. > :33:35.Rooney flicks on and it drops kindly for the visitors.
:33:36. > :33:41.Graeme Shinnie's brother Andrew helped Hibs through the semifinals.
:33:42. > :33:47.He has been penalised for that challenge, though. He just pulls him
:33:48. > :33:54.back, he knows he's got away from him after a misunderstanding.
:33:55. > :34:15.Edwards was breaking free. A definite pull.
:34:16. > :34:27.They are beginning to get into their stride, 16 and a half in. A drop of
:34:28. > :34:34.the shoulder from Niall McGinn. A lovely little goal between Pawlett
:34:35. > :34:43.and Logan. It is good play from Aberdeen, much better, crisp, one
:34:44. > :34:51.time, one touch passing. This was lovely, wasn't it? Yeah, good from
:34:52. > :35:03.Logan. He has overhit it but it is better from Aberdeen.
:35:04. > :35:10.They will settle for that because that Logan ball didn't look as if it
:35:11. > :35:17.was going to find the target. In the end, it has come bobbling off
:35:18. > :35:26.Keown's head. Defenders don't like it but in the end, it is the right
:35:27. > :35:27.decision. They have 21 of these in Lanarkshire on Tuesday night and
:35:28. > :35:38.Hamilton had none. A good opportunity, that. Pawlett
:35:39. > :35:58.has headed it back in. Another lovely ball. A clever enough
:35:59. > :36:06.effort from Ash Taylor. It was an inventive efforts.
:36:07. > :36:17.Just wiping out his own defender. Adam Barton has been a terrific
:36:18. > :36:21.signing. He has really impressed me. He played centre-half for a lot of
:36:22. > :36:28.the season and has been an excellent signing four Partick Thistle. He can
:36:29. > :36:33.do the job at centre-half or in the holding role at midfield. He knows
:36:34. > :36:40.Danny Devine well, they were both at Preston North End together.
:36:41. > :36:55.They're not shy at taking shots on. That's two or three now from
:36:56. > :36:58.distance from Aberdeen players but, again, I just feel when you've got
:36:59. > :37:07.that weaponry in the middle and that size of presence, it is about trying
:37:08. > :37:10.to get balls into the box. This was the problem they had against
:37:11. > :37:15.Hamilton on Tuesday. They had loads of these kinds of efforts but the
:37:16. > :37:18.Accies' goalkeeper on the night didn't have too many saves to make,
:37:19. > :37:25.despite the fact there were over 20 shots at his gold. Partick will be
:37:26. > :37:33.more than happy for Aberdeen to be getting the shots from 25, 30 yards.
:37:34. > :37:44.... Archibald is the longest running manager.
:37:45. > :38:08.There is a man who looked knew how to upset the odds Scottish
:38:09. > :38:17.He is really good, Kenny. I didn't see too much in that at all. He will
:38:18. > :38:22.be hoping for a Scotland call-up in see too much in that at all. He will
:38:23. > :38:35.the next couple of weeks, Kenny McLean. His manager feels he is a
:38:36. > :38:38.shoo-in in Gordon Strachan's squad. They also mentioned Ryan Jack but it
:38:39. > :38:50.looks as though the Aberdeen skipper is going to miss.
:38:51. > :38:58.It was a terrific follow-up from Partick Thistle in the stands just
:38:59. > :39:11.below us. I couldn't quite believe it when I
:39:12. > :39:14.read, this is their first quarterfinal Scottish Cup since
:39:15. > :39:37.2008. It has been a long time for them.
:39:38. > :40:02.I have been on the end of a few of these in my time. I can't believe
:40:03. > :40:06.you said that. Stockley has been in and out of the Aberdeen team. There
:40:07. > :40:14.have been games where he has been preferred to Adam Rooney. He was
:40:15. > :40:18.sent off extraordinarily harshly in Slovenia in the Europa League
:40:19. > :40:23.qualifier earlier this season. He was booked for two similar
:40:24. > :40:32.challenges to the one that Q1 put in on him then. -- Nile Ciaran.
:40:33. > :40:35.How that didn't go through is anyone's guess but these things
:40:36. > :41:09.happen. A quarter of this quarterfinal has
:41:10. > :41:18.come and gone. No goals. McGinn hits its. A brilliant save. What a hit
:41:19. > :41:23.from Niall McGinn to take this first time on a half volley is superb to
:41:24. > :41:24.me. Not the best defensive header from divine but you have to say, a
:41:25. > :41:38.really smart save. A little bit more into the corner,
:41:39. > :41:53.that's probably going in. Thomas Kearney deals with it.
:41:54. > :42:06.He is having a chat with Ryan Templeton, the linesman. That is
:42:07. > :42:52.Cerney's all day and all night long. Too close to the goalkeeper.
:42:53. > :42:57.Getting the benefit of the doubt from the referee. Up and under from
:42:58. > :43:35.Erskine. Keown gets it clear. I think the
:43:36. > :43:39.referee was going to allow him to play on there but Chris Erskine took
:43:40. > :43:45.advantage of the situation. Good refereeing and the right decision. A
:43:46. > :43:49.bit of retribution from his team-mate for earlier. Similar to
:43:50. > :44:02.Jonny Hayes. An important player, the Ghanaian
:44:03. > :44:06.Osman. I was watching his old goalkeeper play for Ayr United
:44:07. > :44:12.yesterday, Greg Fleming, and they both played for Gretna. It seems
:44:13. > :44:38.like a different lifetime ago now. I think it was ten years, in fact.
:44:39. > :45:08.It is always so frustrating when you got men in the box and you got a
:45:09. > :45:10.great player, Osman in that case, to just get it in when you've got the
:45:11. > :45:21.first offender in that ball. Aberdeen haven't even reached the
:45:22. > :45:27.Scottish Cup final since 2000, let alone when it. A farcical afternoon
:45:28. > :45:33.when Jim Leighton went off early on in the piece, and no goalkeeper on
:45:34. > :45:38.the bench. Was that when Robbie Winters went in? It was. He didn't
:45:39. > :45:49.play too badly, to be fair to Robbie. Rangers won that 14-0. Went
:45:50. > :46:11.on to win both domestic cup finals last season, too.
:46:12. > :46:44.Better from Aberdeen. Good combination plate.
:46:45. > :46:50.McGinn has made his runs at other big chance, perhaps, from Aberdeen
:46:51. > :46:55.but Cerney holds firm. Could so easily have spilled that back out
:46:56. > :47:02.into the danger. Really clever movement and watching getting in
:47:03. > :47:10.behind the full-back. It is just too close. If he can keep track of Niall
:47:11. > :47:13.McGinn, and that is by no means certain, it would be practised
:47:14. > :47:21.really the best piece of business they could do all summer, no matter
:47:22. > :47:31.who they signed. Out of contract. There have been others who have
:47:32. > :47:32.signed new deals at Aberdeen - Jonny Hayes, Andrew Considine. They all
:47:33. > :47:57.want to be part of this club. There is a chance here for Erskine.
:47:58. > :48:29.He is going to get it back. I just wonder if Jonny Hayes fancies
:48:30. > :48:35.it against Christie Elliott today because Elliott is not a natural
:48:36. > :48:43.defensive player. He has not really had an opportunity to get at them.
:48:44. > :48:45.Good play. He tries to play in Pawlett instead of getting it in the
:48:46. > :48:59.box and he knows it. Celtic going through earlier with a
:49:00. > :49:04.4-1 win over St Mirren. Harry Davies gave the body the lead in that match
:49:05. > :49:17.and they could easily have gone numeric to-0 up. Underside of the
:49:18. > :49:31.bar. It was Mr Dembel Sall's head it came off, off his own bar. Celtic
:49:32. > :49:36.went up the pitch. Rangers and Hibs went through yesterday. Will it be
:49:37. > :49:43.Aberdeen or Partick Thistle that will join them?
:49:44. > :49:47.There has been a clash of heads in the box. I think it is Pawlett and
:49:48. > :50:00.Lindsay. Liam Lindsay, 21 years of age, he
:50:01. > :50:04.will be hoping, perhaps, to get a national call-up at some point it is
:50:05. > :50:07.a Scottish centre-half, you have got to have that other target because it
:50:08. > :50:12.is an area that is constantly being spoken of as a target. Not an
:50:13. > :50:23.abundance of good young Scottish centre halves out there.
:50:24. > :50:39.Peter Pawlett who, I think he would admit, his best spell came in Derek
:50:40. > :50:43.McInnes's first full season in charge. He had a wonderful couple of
:50:44. > :50:46.weeks. He was a superb in the League Cup semi against St Johnstone at
:50:47. > :50:54.Tynecastle and then scored the winner against Celtic but knocked
:50:55. > :50:57.the favourite out of the competition. Aberdeen would later
:50:58. > :51:04.lose out to Saint in the semi of that competition. He had to be
:51:05. > :51:06.patient. This season, he has been used sparingly but in the last few
:51:07. > :51:16.weeks has made an impact as a used sparingly but in the last few
:51:17. > :51:17.substitute and started the game reasonably well. Made his debut
:51:18. > :51:44.under Jimmy Calderwood in 2009. Excellent play a game from Aberdeen
:51:45. > :51:47.and good linkup play from Stockley and then the crossfield ball from
:51:48. > :52:09.McGinn. He should be doing better. A free
:52:10. > :52:15.header. You've got to get that untargeted docket is a free header,
:52:16. > :52:17.seven yards out. Get it down, anywhere down, but that is a big
:52:18. > :52:48.miss. Aberdeen a free kick for the
:52:49. > :53:01.handball. It was a good linkup play yet again
:53:02. > :53:06.from Stockley, flicking around the corner.
:53:07. > :53:13.He does give Aberdeen that because as good a Poaching striker as Adam
:53:14. > :53:17.Rooney is, he isn't always the hold-up man. Jayden Stockley does
:53:18. > :53:23.that better. He does, without shadow of a a doubt. Hayes and McGinn over
:53:24. > :53:38.its. The second time in just a minute or
:53:39. > :53:42.so, he heads over. Partick making a real meal of trying to clear this.
:53:43. > :53:45.Was the greatest kick into the box but slashing at it and then not
:53:46. > :54:09.playing the danger. Get it back across the face of goal.
:54:10. > :54:18.Pawlett went down there and I think Erskine might have been offside.
:54:19. > :54:27.Doolan wasn't. He has been in the war is the last few minutes. He
:54:28. > :54:32.certainly has. Abdul Osman is not endearing himself to the Aberdeen
:54:33. > :54:37.faithful. He is a strong player, I ran the playing against him. Really
:54:38. > :54:46.competitive player. Erskine has found himself on the book. Chris
:54:47. > :54:51.Erskine is one of the Partick Thistle players who would miss the
:54:52. > :55:12.semifinal, should they go through. A dangerous tackle. It is high.
:55:13. > :55:33.Divine for a goal kick. Divine decided to nod it awaited. Aberdeen
:55:34. > :55:36.have been the better side in the opening half for me. Partick started
:55:37. > :55:37.well in the opening five minutes but Aberdeen are going into the game
:55:38. > :55:48.now. Thistle players who have been booked
:55:49. > :56:06.previously are divine, Lindsay and Sean Welsh, who is not involved.
:56:07. > :56:13.That one won't be going on the show real! I think that was the pitch
:56:14. > :56:21.this time. I think it bobbles up just as he was about to hit it.
:56:22. > :56:28.Sends it into the stands. While we are on the subject of yellow cards,
:56:29. > :56:38.Aberdeen had a player in danger but he is injured. And they don't need a
:56:39. > :56:47.new ball. Someone will be up to get that later. I don't fancy that job!
:56:48. > :56:53.The roofs have seen better days here. Aberdeen are hoping to be in a
:56:54. > :57:05.new ground in the next few years. A big week last week. Final lodgings
:57:06. > :57:13.were made for and against the proposal. It will take Aberdeen
:57:14. > :57:18.about seven miles away from here. It is something the club simply has to
:57:19. > :57:21.do. They cannot redevelop this place. Well, they can but they would
:57:22. > :57:37.only be at a capacity of about 12,000.
:57:38. > :57:44.Christie Elliott has been one of those players for Partick Thistle
:57:45. > :57:47.who is right down the middle, he has started half the games and been a
:57:48. > :58:16.sub on the other half. He is not always a fixture.
:58:17. > :58:23.Thistle standing firm against Aberdeen and they've only conceded
:58:24. > :58:30.three in their last ten. One was at home to St Johnstone, and two here a
:58:31. > :58:37.month ago. I haven't really offered anything in this game so far
:58:38. > :58:49.defensively. Neither team is likely to get a chance.
:58:50. > :59:40.Thistle haven't really managed to get Callum Booth down the left-hand
:59:41. > :59:53.side. I remember watching booth as a youngster at Hibs.
:59:54. > :59:57.He gets forward so well down the left side and he has not been
:59:58. > :00:02.involved, really, in the game going forward.
:00:03. > :00:11.Adam Rooney has had a couple of headers for Aberdeen.
:00:12. > :00:14.Finally going tough, the Dons, as they did here against Ross County
:00:15. > :00:43.last week. That's Shinnie. A brilliant goal!
:00:44. > :00:50.Graeme Shinnie break the deadlock and the man who lifted the cup with
:00:51. > :00:57.Inverness a couple of years ago has given Aberdeen a shot at the semis,
:00:58. > :01:01.potentially. They are in front. A magnificent finish from Graeme
:01:02. > :01:07.Shinnie. Good linkup play by Stockley and when the ball comes
:01:08. > :01:13.into him, he shifted onto his left foot well, curls it into the bottom
:01:14. > :01:17.corner. A magnificent finish and Aberdeen deserved to be in the lead.
:01:18. > :01:23.A good recent history in this competition and how he would love to
:01:24. > :01:28.lift the cup again with his hometown team. The Aberdeen fans think he is
:01:29. > :01:36.one of their own. He has endeared himself even more to a support that
:01:37. > :01:43.already love him. It has come just before the break. That is a good
:01:44. > :01:47.time to do it. Aberdeen have been the better team, without a doubt. As
:01:48. > :01:54.the half is gone, they have created the better opportunities. That will
:01:55. > :02:19.have stung the Jags. That is their clean sheet
:02:20. > :02:28.dine he was just trying to win a corner there. Jo Lewis has managed
:02:29. > :02:34.15 clean sheets this season, it is his 30th match. Aberdeen starting
:02:35. > :02:37.their season so early. They would hope to finish the end of May in the
:02:38. > :02:44.Scottish Cup final but they will be back a couple of weeks after that.
:02:45. > :02:53.For the latest tilt at the Europa league. For Partick Thistle to do
:02:54. > :03:01.that, they would need to win the FA Cup. One minute of added time has
:03:02. > :03:20.been added. Kenny Maclean has been very tidy in
:03:21. > :03:27.the first half, hardly given the ball away. Quite obvious yellow card
:03:28. > :03:48.coming up for Ryan Edwards. Too clever for him. Too clever and
:03:49. > :03:59.too quick. A change in team talk for Alan Archibald. Logan in. Here is
:04:00. > :04:02.Hayes, right on half-time here. A useful ball in and Aberdeen have a
:04:03. > :04:08.corner but they won't have time to take it. Craig Thomson blows for
:04:09. > :04:16.half-time. The Dons supporters won't moan about that because their team
:04:17. > :04:20.are in front. Derek McInnis goes up the tunnel before everyone else.
:04:21. > :04:25.Graham Shinnie scoring just two second of the season but it could be
:04:26. > :04:29.his most important of the season if he doesn't score another one. A
:04:30. > :04:35.wonderful finish from outside the box. Curling into the bottom
:04:36. > :04:38.left-hand corner. That means at half-time in the Scottish Cup
:04:39. > :04:53.quarterfinal, it is 1-0. The favourites have won the first
:04:54. > :05:01.three Scottish Cup quarterfinals, is it going to be Aberdeen joining them
:05:02. > :05:04.in the last four, Nile McGinn was denied what looked like the
:05:05. > :05:07.highlight of the first half at one point but that has been overtaken by
:05:08. > :05:16.this from Graham Shinnie. Scoring a couple of minutes before half-time
:05:17. > :05:23.to make it 1-0. I hope you have been enjoying it. If you are and Aberdeen
:05:24. > :05:25.fan, you will feel your team is halfway there. Let us get the
:05:26. > :05:32.half-time thoughts of Willie Miller and Michael Stewart. It hasn't had
:05:33. > :05:35.your pulse racing. Identifying there has been a great deal of quality in
:05:36. > :05:41.the game. It is a very tactical game. Eric McInnis is playing the
:05:42. > :05:46.long game, they will be more than relieved to get the very good goal
:05:47. > :05:51.from Graham Shinnie. The tactics have been restricting. Hayes in
:05:52. > :05:56.particular, we really haven't seen him as an attacking force at all in
:05:57. > :06:00.the game. But if you are Derek McInnis, he would say that the
:06:01. > :06:04.tactics have worked. If you are a fan watching it, you would say
:06:05. > :06:08.Aberdeen are better than that. They have been restricted in terms of the
:06:09. > :06:18.freedom. The most important thing for them is they have the first
:06:19. > :06:21.goal. It has been blunt fair, no doubt but they won't get a jot, a
:06:22. > :06:26.tight game like this, have managed to make down a side that have been
:06:27. > :06:32.very resolute of late, a great time to score, just before half-time and
:06:33. > :06:36.it changes the dynamic of the game. There have been a few moments of
:06:37. > :06:39.quality but this was certainly one, the 43rd minute, Graham Shinnie
:06:40. > :06:45.getting the space he was looking for outside the box. He is such an
:06:46. > :06:51.important player for Aberdeen. Not a great pass, a lot of work to do.
:06:52. > :06:57.They pay close attention but they managed to dig it out. A little
:06:58. > :07:04.chink of space. Into the far corner, he really well taken goal. Nile
:07:05. > :07:12.McGinn picks it up in the central area. And he manages to change the
:07:13. > :07:15.thought process for Partick Thistle. He is ahead of the ball, the
:07:16. > :07:20.majority of the game, he has been behind. Get that first touch out of
:07:21. > :07:28.his feet and guide it into the far corner. Absolutely fantastic time to
:07:29. > :07:33.get the goal. At that time we were struggling for highlights to show
:07:34. > :07:37.you during the half-time interval. There were highlights we had before
:07:38. > :07:42.that may all featured Aberdeen. I did think there is much doubt that
:07:43. > :07:48.the home team deserve to ahead. This is a sticky surface are getting your
:07:49. > :07:53.technique right is not that easy. He catches it really well on the half
:07:54. > :07:59.volley. McGinn as well, he can be so dangerous. Not a great clearing
:08:00. > :08:03.header. A decent save but an excellent strike. I think Aberdeen
:08:04. > :08:07.have had the bulk of the play in what has not been an exhilarating
:08:08. > :08:12.game. This is one of the few occasions they have managed to get
:08:13. > :08:17.in behind the defence. He draws the wingback out, Callum Booth. And it
:08:18. > :08:21.is one of the few chances where they have managed to penetrate the back
:08:22. > :08:25.line of this all. That is a free header and you would expect Aberdeen
:08:26. > :08:28.to get that on target and do a lot better. Adam Rooney would be
:08:29. > :08:35.disappointed, normally very accomplished with his head. At that
:08:36. > :08:38.stage of the game where it is tight, I am pretty sure Derek McInnis would
:08:39. > :08:44.have been frustrated they did not do better with that chance. They have
:08:45. > :08:48.been deployed in a much deeper role than normal. And they have not
:08:49. > :08:55.really got in behind Aberdeen a whole lot. It is a definite tactic.
:08:56. > :08:59.Eric Monnin is has sacrificed their forward play a little bit in the
:09:00. > :09:07.hope of dragging the wingbacks out to allow space for the midfield. For
:09:08. > :09:12.Pawlett in particular to get in behind but it hasn't worked well. We
:09:13. > :09:17.haven't seen Hayes as an attacking force. And if you haven't seen him
:09:18. > :09:24.going forward, that takes a lot away from Aberdeen. Nile McGinn in
:09:25. > :09:30.particular got some good build-up play here and almost got in behind.
:09:31. > :09:35.But look how deep he is, Pawlett makes the run into the hole that has
:09:36. > :09:39.been vacated but they have been infrequent in the first half. Far
:09:40. > :09:46.too seldom that it has happened. They are playing very deep. You
:09:47. > :09:49.heard before the game how they are a definite five at the bank when they
:09:50. > :09:53.are defending so it is quite clear that what has happened is they have
:09:54. > :09:58.sacrificed the attacking threat to pull the wingbacks out but they have
:09:59. > :10:04.not had enough penetration into the gaps they have made. I just think if
:10:05. > :10:09.they get a few other players, that haven't got the same attacking
:10:10. > :10:14.threat, to be the decoys and then have them in a central area for
:10:15. > :10:18.Pawlett and they can burst into the wide areas where the gap is. At the
:10:19. > :10:24.moment it seems a bit dead. And you're threatening players have been
:10:25. > :10:30.pulling off the full-backs. Will be goal mean Partick Thistle have the
:10:31. > :10:34.rip up the script at this point? They game has been built on
:10:35. > :10:40.containment and maybe taking it back for a replay. I think it is still on
:10:41. > :10:46.to take it back for a replay. It is still only one goal. I then think
:10:47. > :10:50.they rip up their tactics. They have been playing that formation for some
:10:51. > :10:53.time with a lot of success. They have to get one back. It is more
:10:54. > :10:59.important from an Aberdeen point of view that Derek McInnis, now they
:11:00. > :11:05.have the lead, does he change it a little bit? I would like to see
:11:06. > :11:09.Hayes getting further up the park. I would like to see Nile McGinn with
:11:10. > :11:15.more freedom. I think he is much better when he comes in the park.
:11:16. > :11:20.But Hayes needs to take part in this game and he hasn't so far. The first
:11:21. > :11:25.ten or 15 minutes, Partick Thistle were on top. Implementing their
:11:26. > :11:32.game. Driving Aberdeen back. They did not get goals but they were the
:11:33. > :11:36.more dominant side. There is no doubt that as the game went on,
:11:37. > :11:42.Aberdeen have gained more control. But it is only 1-0. Will they be
:11:43. > :11:45.confident enough they can get a chance and if they are able to take
:11:46. > :11:53.it, they are in a good position to get a draw from the game. 1-0, the
:11:54. > :11:56.second half coming up live very shortly. Let us look back on the
:11:57. > :12:01.Saturday story in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals. Hibs against a united
:12:02. > :12:06.coming up after Rangers win against Hamilton. I don't think many would
:12:07. > :12:13.have seen this emphatic scoreline coming. A lot of debatable decisions
:12:14. > :12:15.for the referee. This was more the linesman, he should have been able
:12:16. > :12:21.to call that, but it does happen quickly. A yellow strip with a
:12:22. > :12:25.yellow ball, it is difficult to see. This was eventually given a penalty
:12:26. > :12:33.but I don't think there is enough in it. A lot of the big games -- big
:12:34. > :12:35.calls went the wrong way for Hamilton. But Rangers thoroughly
:12:36. > :12:42.deserved the victory and to get through to the semifinal. Penalty
:12:43. > :12:48.given against the challenge on 33 minutes. Rangers in front, no debate
:12:49. > :12:54.about the quality of that goal, his 14th of the season. Some of the
:12:55. > :12:59.defending was appalling. You can't understand how a team defence so
:13:00. > :13:06.well just a few days earlier against Aberdeen and then go to Ibrox. Why
:13:07. > :13:11.was that not a red card? Any commentator would say that would be
:13:12. > :13:18.a red card. It is reckless, he is not in control. It is a big call.
:13:19. > :13:22.But then Hamilton disintegrated. They lost the fight they had in
:13:23. > :13:27.midweek against Aberdeen. You talk about perhaps the fact they got a
:13:28. > :13:31.goal against Aberdeen, something to hang onto. They felt they could get
:13:32. > :13:35.something from the game but you see the pictures here, they were gone at
:13:36. > :13:43.that point, when the second goal went in. Psychologically they were
:13:44. > :13:46.defeated. They certainly were, even when a gamble and went off and
:13:47. > :13:53.Rangers went down to ten men, it made no impact. I thought they gave
:13:54. > :13:57.up the tight too early but the defending was dreadful. Martin
:13:58. > :14:02.Gannon knows that. He will be more than delighted but very fortunate to
:14:03. > :14:10.stay on the part. 6-0 Rangers, through to the semifinal. Hibs are
:14:11. > :14:19.there, still on track to do two in a row after ending that 114 new weight
:14:20. > :14:22.in Hampden Park in May. Wonderful finish with his right foot, similar
:14:23. > :14:26.to what we saw with Graham Shinnie. Although they are both left footed,
:14:27. > :14:33.he's managed to stick it in with his right. There is no doubt this was a
:14:34. > :14:40.penalty. I think at that point it was a difficult game for them to
:14:41. > :14:46.come back from. Hibs, you get to the stage in the tournament and they are
:14:47. > :14:52.building in confidence. When you get a goal like that. What a finish. It
:14:53. > :15:01.gave them an opportunity but at the window as soon as this. Nothing to
:15:02. > :15:06.do with me. I have watched Scott McKenna coming through the youth
:15:07. > :15:14.system. That was a cringing tackle. No matter what angle you see it
:15:15. > :15:19.from. It was a sore one. This was a wonderful cross from David Gray and
:15:20. > :15:24.a neat finish. That epitomises the difference in the championship. Hibs
:15:25. > :15:30.have a squad that are capable of bringing James Keegan off the bench
:15:31. > :15:35.but a united, threadbare at times. They put up a good show. You wonder
:15:36. > :15:36.how it might have played out, they just got that with that wonderful
:15:37. > :15:39.how it might have played out, they goal, if they have got 11 players in
:15:40. > :15:45.the pitch, they might have got something from the game. It does
:15:46. > :15:49.test the mettle of Hibs. They have a good record against Hibs this season
:15:50. > :15:53.as well. A goal like that lives everyone but then you are down to
:15:54. > :15:56.ten men and there is no way you're going to come back, it was a very
:15:57. > :16:02.rash challenge from the youngster but I still believe he has a good
:16:03. > :16:06.future ahead of him. Two teams through to the semifinals of the
:16:07. > :16:10.competition yesterday. As of today, Celtic are there as well. They went
:16:11. > :16:13.a goal down against St Mirren but came back to win in the end. The
:16:14. > :16:19.draw for the quarter-finals will take place -- the draw for the
:16:20. > :16:19.semifinals will take place I should say after this quarterfinal is
:16:20. > :16:41.finished. A special Scottish cups highlights
:16:42. > :16:46.programme this evening. The fourth quarterfinal still to be settled but
:16:47. > :16:50.Graham Shinnie has certainly struck an important goal for the Dons,
:16:51. > :16:54.firing them in front a couple of minute before the interval. We'll
:16:55. > :16:59.Partick Thistle comeback in the second half? They are playing a
:17:00. > :17:05.familiar shape and team. With Chris Erskine, a pretty impressive player.
:17:06. > :17:09.I spoke about earlier, the first ten or 15 minutes, Partick Thistle were
:17:10. > :17:13.on top and he was the centre of that. He is a link up play. As a
:17:14. > :17:20.midfielder, he is someone you would love to play with. He links the game
:17:21. > :17:24.well. It just seems Partick Thistle is the club that fits in well. He is
:17:25. > :17:28.a big player for them. If we going to get back into the game, he needs
:17:29. > :17:34.to be at the centre of what they do. What would you like to see from
:17:35. > :17:38.Aberdeen in the second half? I think the Aberdeen supporters will be more
:17:39. > :17:42.than happy. They wed be impressed with the performance but Aberdeen
:17:43. > :17:48.have the goal. I would like to see more forward play. But Italy from
:17:49. > :17:52.Johnny Hayes. If they get the opportunity to change the tactics a
:17:53. > :17:57.little bit, allow the two most important players a bit of freedom.
:17:58. > :18:02.I think that would give more entertainment but I am sure Derek
:18:03. > :18:07.McKinney was to get into the semifinal. So I'm not anticipating
:18:08. > :18:12.too many changes. Some entertainment would be nice. This was the key
:18:13. > :18:16.moment a couple of minutes before the interval, Graham Shinnie on his
:18:17. > :18:20.left foot. Curling the shot into the bottom corner. Thomas journey made
:18:21. > :18:25.some good saves but he was not going to stop that one. Aberdeen with a
:18:26. > :18:30.1-0 lead halfway through. The teams are out, Partick Thistle are at
:18:31. > :18:31.least come at the start of the second half. Back to our commentary
:18:32. > :18:42.team. COMMENTATOR: Aberdeen will be held
:18:43. > :18:45.pretty sharply I would have thought. Partick Thistle getting ready and
:18:46. > :18:48.they will be keen to get back under way having been dealt that blow just
:18:49. > :18:56.before the interval with Graham Shinnie's second of the season. Last
:18:57. > :19:04.time Aberdeen won the cup, they defeated Partick Thistle, 6-2 at
:19:05. > :19:12.Firhill. Back in 1990. Grant Mason scored but a hat-trick for Vander
:19:13. > :19:17.Ark. They have only lost one of their 18 home games all season in
:19:18. > :19:26.all competitions, have the Dons. You can forgive them that one given it
:19:27. > :19:32.was against the undefeated Celtic. Who like Rangers and to Bernie, are
:19:33. > :19:36.already in the semifinals. Will it be Aberdeen Partick Thistle or will
:19:37. > :19:42.we have a replay? Still 45 minutes left with Aberdeen in the box seat.
:19:43. > :19:45.And the last 15 is, only Dunfermline on a penalty shoot out and Raith
:19:46. > :20:01.Rovers have beaten Aberdeen in Scottish games at the tawdry. -- at
:20:02. > :20:03.Pittodrie. They will attack the beach and, as they tend to do here
:20:04. > :20:21.in the second half. How difficult the team talk did Alan
:20:22. > :20:25.Archibald have? He would ask his team to offer more in an attacking
:20:26. > :20:30.sense. A couple of shots from distance that weren't on target or
:20:31. > :20:36.anything near on target. As the match went on, it was all Aberdeen
:20:37. > :20:41.and now they have conceded. In cup games, performance doesn't matter,
:20:42. > :20:46.it is all about results. They are still in the game at 1-0 but they
:20:47. > :20:58.will need to offer more than they did in the first half.
:20:59. > :21:12.No changes for either team at the interval.
:21:13. > :21:26.Good tenacity by Peter Paulette. Eventually got it under control.
:21:27. > :21:28.Pawlett was bodychecked. Good player initially, winning a couple of
:21:29. > :21:38.challenges and then gets the ball back from Hayes and that is a
:21:39. > :21:42.definite bodychecked. His old man did all right, three in the Premier
:21:43. > :21:50.league titles, three FA Cup Hall, European Cup winners cup, Martin
:21:51. > :21:59.Keown. He is on loan here from Reading. Part of the Irish
:22:00. > :22:02.International setup. A decent free kick, great save by journey to deny
:22:03. > :22:18.concert I'm. -- concert I'm this it looks like it will go in the
:22:19. > :22:25.front corner but a brilliant save. That has kept Partick Thistle in it,
:22:26. > :22:34.wonderful save. Made an equally could save in the first half. Should
:22:35. > :23:02.the Logan. This is his third spell at Partick
:23:03. > :23:04.Thistle, Chris Erskine, back on loan from Dundee United who he left after
:23:05. > :23:11.Thistle, Chris Erskine, back on loan a successful time. He has been
:23:12. > :23:13.combining in recent matches well with Doolan but it has just not
:23:14. > :23:29.happened for them today. That is something you will be
:23:30. > :23:36.reminding him about after the game. I'm not sure I've ever seen that in
:23:37. > :23:45.a game. That is new. He was playing on the ground for his throwing.
:23:46. > :24:20.He was a terrific centre-half, Alan Archibald, in his time.
:24:21. > :24:28.Aberdeen have a free kick here. Not too much in the challenge on
:24:29. > :24:41.Stockley but an opportunity to flight the ball into the box. It
:24:42. > :24:55.breaks favourably for Erskine. Doolan bombing forward.
:24:56. > :25:03.They are struggling to string any passes together. They have really
:25:04. > :25:11.not manage to get any, nation play at all in the match. Very scrappy
:25:12. > :25:17.from Partick Thistle. A much better season in the cups for Aberdeen.
:25:18. > :25:18.They went out at the first hurdle of both last season. Hibs and then
:25:19. > :26:20.Hearts. Aberdeen have won the Scottish Cup
:26:21. > :26:21.seven times but most of them were bunched up in the 80s and up to
:26:22. > :26:49.1990. Stockley, Pawlett. Again, an
:26:50. > :26:53.absolutely brilliant touch from Stockley. His linkup play has been
:26:54. > :27:00.superb. Look at that touch, he should hit the target. Takes a good
:27:01. > :27:07.first touch but then slashes at it. Side netting. I think the graphic we
:27:08. > :27:19.saw in the bottom left tells the story.
:27:20. > :27:24.Only once this season have they been in front and ended up dropping
:27:25. > :27:29.something and that was here against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. They
:27:30. > :27:36.were 1-0 but conceded a world of a goal.
:27:37. > :27:50.Good play again from Aberdeen. Just taking too heavy a touch. Interested
:27:51. > :27:54.to see how long it takes far too good to make the changes. Partick
:27:55. > :28:04.Thistle offering nothing going forward in this game. As these would
:28:05. > :28:09.ring them something different up front but two goals in 28 games. But
:28:10. > :28:14.he should have at least ten more than that. You look at the
:28:15. > :28:22.opportunities he has missed, probably more than any other player
:28:23. > :28:30.in the league this season. It looks like Steven Lawless will be coming
:28:31. > :28:44.on. A problem here for Stockley. Caught by Keown. He seems to be in
:28:45. > :28:50.some discomfort. The change has happened, Adam Barton has come off
:28:51. > :28:58.and Steven Lawless, he scored an amazing goal against Aberdeen last
:28:59. > :29:00.season at Firhill. They want. But Aberdeen won that one, unbeaten in
:29:01. > :29:07.their last nine against Partick Thistle. He's a talented and
:29:08. > :29:10.creative player a positive substitution, taking off a defensive
:29:11. > :29:22.minded player and bringing an lawless who can create problems. The
:29:23. > :29:32.towering Barton is. Partick Thistle have to open up at some point.
:29:33. > :29:42.Stockley is back on. Dazed and confused, Adam Rooney.
:29:43. > :29:48.He has been a fabulous signing for Aberdeen, what an impact he has made
:29:49. > :29:53.on this club. The honour of scoring the winning penalty that ended the
:29:54. > :30:02.long run without a trophy, that league cup triumph, three years ago
:30:03. > :30:12.now. Almost exactly three years ago. They have not managed to add to it
:30:13. > :30:16.yet. A good ball. Rooney's header. Must have clicked the outside of the
:30:17. > :30:22.post. That was his hardest header in the match, which are members all by
:30:23. > :30:27.Pawlett. He does well to get it back across and I think it does come off
:30:28. > :30:34.the upright. Yes, a difficult opportunity. Aberdeen in total
:30:35. > :31:03.control of this match. But still just 1-0.
:31:04. > :31:09.The Dons when 6-point clear of Rangers at the top end of the
:31:10. > :31:13.Premiership. Also a vast the superior goal difference advantage.
:31:14. > :31:17.Their next match of the Celtic Park. They still have to play Rangers
:31:18. > :31:56.twice. The positives are, they managed to
:31:57. > :32:03.get three or four passes together and get a ball in the box, albeit
:32:04. > :32:11.not a very good one. Logan scored the winner in the last round up at
:32:12. > :32:19.Dingwall. A great ball if Rooney gets onto it, which he has. Yeah,
:32:20. > :32:26.it's a corner. A great run from Rooney.
:32:27. > :32:36.Winning his team a corner kick. Adam Rooney has 74 goals in 139
:32:37. > :32:43.appearances, I think it is. It is frightening. A really good record.
:32:44. > :32:51.He has done all right in the Gulf states himself here. -- goal stakes.
:32:52. > :33:01.A good ball in but he has been not closely all the way in.
:33:02. > :33:36.Another change coming up for the Jags.
:33:37. > :33:52.Aid Azeez is going to come on in a moment for Thistle.
:33:53. > :34:01.Much better from Jonny Hayes. He was quiet in that first half but doing
:34:02. > :34:11.what he is good at. Stockley manages to get a shot off on the turn.
:34:12. > :34:17.This competition represents a chance for redemption for Aberdeen because
:34:18. > :34:22.they didn't really turn up in that League Cup final against Celtic,
:34:23. > :34:35.well beaten on the day. Pawlett just couldn't get it.
:34:36. > :34:40.Danny Devine started the Scottish Cup final with Danny Warren
:34:41. > :34:50.suspended. Graeme Shinnie played right back that day at Aberdonian
:34:51. > :34:57.Thistle. Off goes Erskine. A more natural front of a pairing. Erskine
:34:58. > :35:01.is more a midfielder than striker. Another positive substitution from
:35:02. > :35:24.Alan Archibald as he tries to get his team back into the cup tied.
:35:25. > :36:15.Well done, Adam Rooney, closing down divine.
:36:16. > :36:24.Over the last eight games Partick Thistle's two defeats have been a
:36:25. > :36:27.Pittodrie. There is no shame or disgrace in that. You still feel
:36:28. > :36:37.there was enough time in this tied to redeem themselves.
:36:38. > :36:56.The flick is a good one. His control wasn't. A prolific Partick striker.
:36:57. > :37:02.Look how quickly they close down the Partick Thistle players and snuff
:37:03. > :37:10.out any danger. Shinnie again getting over as that protection in
:37:11. > :37:20.doubling up. Skippering the Dons this afternoon, of course, in the
:37:21. > :37:25.absence of Ryan Jack. He has a team full of captains, Derek McInnes. He
:37:26. > :37:35.does. He spent last summer filling his squad full of skippers. Paul
:37:36. > :37:41.Quinn back at Ross County came here. Graeme Shinnie skippering Cally
:37:42. > :37:43.Thistle. Shinnie and Maclean are still at the club and they are first
:37:44. > :38:27.picks for Derek McInnes. I didn't think there was that much
:38:28. > :38:34.in that one. Pawlett's header. Another fantastic ball, isn't it? He
:38:35. > :38:35.is much more of a threat in the second half. Pawlett should probably
:38:36. > :38:55.do better with that second header. He is unlucky, Peter Pawlett. He has
:38:56. > :39:00.added good match, Peter Pawlett. He is working ever so hard for the
:39:01. > :39:05.team. I think he is unlucky here. Just a little stumble. Otherwise
:39:06. > :39:16.he's getting there. A decent ball in from Edwards,
:39:17. > :39:21.causing problems in the Aberdeen backline. I think it may be Rooney
:39:22. > :39:54.who eventually gets a touch on it and puts it out for a corner.
:39:55. > :40:02.Consett iron made his Aberdeen debut 13 years ago.
:40:03. > :40:16.One thing we've learned about Aberdeen under Derek McInnes is that
:40:17. > :40:22.they are pretty good at seeing out games just like this, when they are
:40:23. > :40:27.1-0 up and they have something to defend, they normally do.
:40:28. > :40:29.Absolutely. Resolute when they get in front. I think it has only been
:40:30. > :40:35.on one occasion when they have taken in front. I think it has only been
:40:36. > :40:43.the lead. They have thrown it away and are in complete control of this
:40:44. > :40:53.match. You can't argue with Derek McInnes's record, really. Looking to
:40:54. > :41:00.lead Aberdeen to a semi for the 25th time. He has won two of them and
:41:01. > :41:06.lost two to Dundee United. They really have been in unbelievable
:41:07. > :41:12.form. Albeit they lost on Wednesday night but it dominated that match.
:41:13. > :41:25.They have certainly dominated this match today.
:41:26. > :41:31.Thistle have seen more of the ball in the Aberdeen half as we get
:41:32. > :41:44.towards the final quarter. Haven't done anything with it, though.
:41:45. > :42:05.Just to underline the job that Derek McInnes has done here, he will
:42:06. > :42:11.celebrate four years imposed on March 25, three full seasons, and
:42:12. > :42:16.has collected 68, 75 and 71 points respectively. They are currently on
:42:17. > :42:22.52 and in the three seasons prior to Derek McInnes's full campaign, they
:42:23. > :42:30.collected 31 and 48. A stark improvement. Stuart Mills grimacing
:42:31. > :42:41.because of what has just happened to Peter Pawlett. There are two Thistle
:42:42. > :42:47.players. We heard it from up here. I think the referee is going to pull
:42:48. > :42:59.out the yellow card. Pawlett just using his pace and getting their
:43:00. > :43:07.half a second before him. He ends up picking the underside of Pawlett's
:43:08. > :43:16.route right at the top of his foot. Just before that, you saw the
:43:17. > :43:17.previous collision. Both players look as though they are toiling a
:43:18. > :43:35.bit. So the Aberdeen chairman just before
:43:36. > :43:47.that... A nice stylish pair of shades. They have a few of them over
:43:48. > :43:49.in the box today. They need them. You've no protection on the
:43:50. > :43:55.underside of the boot, it is straight the bone in the front of
:43:56. > :44:05.your foot. Is that Stewart Milne or Bono? Brilliant! It is definitely
:44:06. > :44:08.your foot. Is that Stewart Milne or Stuart Milner. He has had some hard
:44:09. > :44:12.times here but nobody was happier than he when they lifted the League
:44:13. > :44:24.Cup in 2014. The post-match radio interviews told that. Archibald has
:44:25. > :44:29.already made changes. Diviner struggling but look how much
:44:30. > :44:31.discomfort he is in. I have had this when you lift for a stud right on
:44:32. > :44:42.the top of your foot. I'm sure Alan Archibald would have
:44:43. > :44:52.wanted... Look at something else here. His name has been frequently
:44:53. > :44:59.sung by the Partick Thistle supporters who appreciate the job he
:45:00. > :45:17.has done. As I mentioned earlier, he and Scott Paterson have done it.
:45:18. > :45:25.Aberdeen still leading. Divine has hobbled back on. It has not been a
:45:26. > :45:30.pretty second half, that's for sure. It has been scrappy, it really has.
:45:31. > :45:35.Partick Thistle have struggled to create anything and Aberdeen's best
:45:36. > :46:08.play has come down the left-hand side, through Jonny Hayes.
:46:09. > :46:24.I think he had as it back. There are going to be a few bruises in the
:46:25. > :46:29.morning for Thistle players. You could just go to about four and
:46:30. > :46:35.still have the two centre-half. They could bring on another midfielder. I
:46:36. > :46:49.think Anthony O'Connor is getting ready for Aberdeen. It is very
:46:50. > :46:55.bitty. It is scrappy. Attention being provided to Nile Key on. That
:46:56. > :47:00.is why Derek McInnes started Jayden Stockley. I mentioned last summer
:47:01. > :47:04.Derek McInnes was looking for captains to bring to the Aberdeen
:47:05. > :47:14.squad and the summer past, he wanted to bolster the squad. He had a very
:47:15. > :47:25.strong starting XI but wanted to add more presence and Jayden Stockley
:47:26. > :47:30.provided that. Generally his strength and depth is a key element
:47:31. > :47:35.for their success this season. He will be able to bring changes in and
:47:36. > :48:01.bring players off the bench. Only 17 minutes left for Partick
:48:02. > :48:05.Thistle. You do sense that Partick Thistle will be able to force at
:48:06. > :48:20.least an opportunity before the end of this type. A free kick. Lead.
:48:21. > :48:23.Disagreed with that decision. Players are struggling with the
:48:24. > :48:31.balls in the air because of the sun. You can see them shielding their
:48:32. > :48:38.eyes with their hands. We are not going to complain about the weather!
:48:39. > :48:44.Certainly not. It was horrendous here yesterday, by all accounts. You
:48:45. > :48:52.can see Anthony O'Connor getting ready to come on for Aberdeen.
:48:53. > :49:05.Lindsay is moving a bit freer now. Nobody in the middle so they are
:49:06. > :49:18.going to have to hold it up for a bit. Stockley's linkup play today
:49:19. > :49:25.has been superb and as much as he goes for it, his linkup play at
:49:26. > :49:33.times be better. Three goals away from the 20 mark, Adam Rooney. He is
:49:34. > :49:37.staying on and Peter Pawlett is coming off. Pawlett and be happy
:49:38. > :49:46.with his performance today. He has worked hard for the team. He has
:49:47. > :49:49.linked up well with the front, too. He was 26 last month, Peter Pawlett.
:49:50. > :49:55.It has got to the stage of his career where he is not the promising
:49:56. > :50:01.youngster. A big few months, as I mentioned, coming up for him. Here
:50:02. > :50:26.is McGinn for the hosts. That was unfortunate. He just
:50:27. > :50:36.stumbled as he was about to take his touch. You can see just here, he
:50:37. > :50:44.loses his footing. They brought on O'Connor just to see the match out.
:50:45. > :50:52.In amongst the centre-half. Jonny Hayes has moved into the central
:50:53. > :51:08.position, where Pawlett was. Back to a back four, you could say.
:51:09. > :51:15.Thistle trying to put some pressure on, just 14 minutes left. Trying to
:51:16. > :51:24.stay in the Scottish Cup and they had a very impressive win in the
:51:25. > :51:39.last round at St Johnstone. Not decisive by concert I'm.
:51:40. > :51:47.half his matches when he has played. half his matches when he has played.
:51:48. > :51:48.-- kept a clean sheet. Edwards, we haven't seen much of him in the
:51:49. > :52:03.second half. Good play from Jonny Hayes, showing
:52:04. > :52:12.the desire of this Aberdeen team, fighting to win the ball back.
:52:13. > :52:21.Aberdeen banged 17 past Motherwell here.
:52:22. > :52:28.The games since then have been very different. A good strong play by
:52:29. > :52:35.Niall McGinn. A decent ball in, which Cerney
:52:36. > :52:53.manages to get half way. He has had a couple of them
:52:54. > :53:00.recently, bicycle kicks, Adam Rooney. He has, but that was the
:53:01. > :53:05.wrong decision. When he's onside, it looks maybe just a yard. But
:53:06. > :53:10.initially, he should have just laid it off to Stockley and might have
:53:11. > :53:16.been able to get a shot off instead of trying a bicycle kick. It was
:53:17. > :53:24.never set up for a bicycle kick. Both teams are going to make changes
:53:25. > :53:31.now. Kris Doolan won't be scoring today. Kevin Nisbet is his
:53:32. > :53:55.replacement and Miles Storey is going to be on for Aberdeen shortly.
:53:56. > :54:01.Another free kick which goes Partick Thistle's waited all various Miles
:54:02. > :54:07.Storey. Largely frustrating first season at Aberdeen for him. Again,
:54:08. > :54:12.another player who has made an impact in recent weeks, going off
:54:13. > :54:13.the bench. He did well when he came on against Ross County last
:54:14. > :54:40.Saturday. Rooney is coming off. It was he who scored the winner
:54:41. > :54:43.against County last week. He has worked hard for the team. Couple of
:54:44. > :54:52.opportunities he will probably be disappointed with.
:54:53. > :55:06.He is hero worshipped around these parts. Little wonder. Miles Storey
:55:07. > :55:13.impressed last season, largely. Pretty much a sub for Aberdeen,
:55:14. > :55:15.though. He had a too high from one win here against Partick Thistle in
:55:16. > :55:31.the autumn. Hayes was just a bit short with the
:55:32. > :55:37.past. 30 yards of the pitch to put it in, full story to chase but story
:55:38. > :55:43.does well. The final ten minutes of this William Hill Scottish Cup
:55:44. > :55:48.quarterfinal. Rangers, Hibernian and Celtic already in the draw. As
:55:49. > :55:55.things stand, they will be joined by Aberdeen. The draw coming up in
:55:56. > :56:04.about 50 minutes time and it will be live on BBC Radio Scotland. You can
:56:05. > :56:10.get it on digital television and digital radio as well as medium
:56:11. > :56:18.wave. Logan for Aberdeen. Thistle are running out of time. They've
:56:19. > :56:40.still not really tested Joe Lewis. No, they haven't.
:56:41. > :56:49.OK. That is the second blatant bodycheck of the match. Abdul Osman.
:56:50. > :56:59.I was surprised he wasn't booked for the first one. Out it comes. A nice
:57:00. > :57:09.peg from Jonny Hayes. A definite obstruction.
:57:10. > :57:16.Aberdeen are going to bring on another Scottish Cup winner, Ryan
:57:17. > :57:25.Christie. In just a moment. It is McGinn's free kick. Just over from
:57:26. > :57:29.O'Connor and it clipped the back. The quality of the ball is
:57:30. > :57:40.magnificent but again, a free header and I think it ends up coming off
:57:41. > :57:49.his shoulder. Got to hit the target. He and Miles Storey have both scored
:57:50. > :57:58.against Partick Thistle this season. It was the night Stockley logged a
:57:59. > :58:03.player who was signed for Partick Thistle for a short period. There is
:58:04. > :58:09.still time for the visitors and they are only 1-0 down. They have not had
:58:10. > :58:48.an effort in built it up they have been so toothless in attack.
:58:49. > :58:57.Well done, Graeme Shinnie. So often, he senses danger and snuffs it out.
:58:58. > :59:02.It is perplexing as to why he hasn't been in more Scotland squad and he
:59:03. > :59:07.has. I would agree with that. He doesn't necessarily have to go in as
:59:08. > :59:12.a left-back, he could go into the squad as a midfielder, where he
:59:13. > :59:19.plays most of his games here. Yeah, absolutely. Tommy Docherty, as I
:59:20. > :59:23.mentioned in the first half, part of the Scotland coaching setup for the
:59:24. > :59:25.double-header coming up. Perhaps his presence will lead to a couple of
:59:26. > :59:41.Aberdeen players leaving the squad. Man of the Match for me would be
:59:42. > :59:46.Graeme Shinnie, not only because he scored an excellent goal but because
:59:47. > :59:56.of the work he does for Aberdeen and how he leads the team as a captain
:59:57. > :59:59.and today he is my Man of the Match. Graeme Shinnie's Big Brother Andrew
:00:00. > :00:08.and today he is my Man of the Match. was Man of the Match at Easter Road
:00:09. > :00:11.yesterday. Thistle looking to ruin it. For Graeme Shinnie, that voice
:00:12. > :00:28.never really threatened to find anyone. He has taken a wee knock.
:00:29. > :00:33.I'm not sure who the next player to come on is going to replace but
:00:34. > :00:41.perhaps they will take no chances with Shinnie. I think they have gone
:00:42. > :01:00.over to see if Shinnie is all right to continue, which I think he is.
:01:01. > :01:07.It was the late, late show for Aberdeen against Partick Thistle
:01:08. > :01:15.last month. It is the same again, this time in their favour. Such a
:01:16. > :01:20.lack of quality for Partick Thistle. They have not managed to string
:01:21. > :01:31.anything together creative at all. Really slack in the possession of
:01:32. > :01:54.the ball, as well. Into the final 3.5 minutes of the 90.
:01:55. > :02:12.dying they are becoming regulars the semifinal stage of competitions.
:02:13. > :02:25.This is Callum Booth. Lawless. He is capable. A warning for Aberdeen that
:02:26. > :02:33.Partick Thistle are not done yet. They will now make the substitution.
:02:34. > :02:46.He has had an excellent match. Four goals this season. In the first half
:02:47. > :02:54.he was absolutely superb. He has worked hard for the team. Wayne
:02:55. > :02:57.Pressley could have a big so, if they meet Celtic, he would not be
:02:58. > :03:04.able to play against his parent club. Taylor has conceded a corner.
:03:05. > :03:11.Partick Thistle have an opportunity with two left. A needless corner to
:03:12. > :03:18.give away. An opportunity now for Partick Thistle. Can they force a
:03:19. > :03:24.replay? To be played on the 14th of March? Edward's corner. Lewis
:03:25. > :03:30.commands his box. That is exactly what you want from your goalkeeper.
:03:31. > :03:36.Brilliant goalkeeping. The pressure when it goalkeeper comes to claim
:03:37. > :03:44.it, it was a brilliant take. Really good goalkeeping from a top player,
:03:45. > :03:50.Jo Lewis. Into the semifinals of the Scottish Cup a times, Partick
:03:51. > :04:00.Thistle. The Dons on the verge of dumping them out in the quarters.
:04:01. > :04:12.Hayes, Stockley. Could not find the target. A clever free kick from
:04:13. > :04:15.Aberdeen. Hayes taking the opportunity, seemed to take forever
:04:16. > :04:36.to get his shot off and drags it wide of the post.
:04:37. > :04:44.Maclean. The Partick Thistle fans wondering how much injury time will
:04:45. > :04:51.be added at the end, you would imagine it would be at least three.
:04:52. > :05:03.It is going to be five minutes added on at the end of this one. Partick
:05:04. > :05:14.Thistle are still breathing. 90 minutes have come and gone. Here is
:05:15. > :05:20.confirmation. It hasn't gone down well with the natives. Partick
:05:21. > :05:31.Thistle's number five will take this throw. Lewis holds on. I wonder if
:05:32. > :05:53.Taylor was pulling on the vine there. He was calling for it.
:05:54. > :06:24.One minute of stoppage time is away. Partick Thistle how everyone in the
:06:25. > :06:28.Aberdeen half here. Lawless has got his team a free kick. A cheap free
:06:29. > :06:36.kick to give away in a dangerous area. Hayes bulling his arm back. A
:06:37. > :06:42.big chance for Partick Thistle. It really is. Derek McKinney 's will be
:06:43. > :06:48.furious with how cheap they free kick that is to give away. They will
:06:49. > :06:52.not get too many more chances. Can they take advantage of this one that
:06:53. > :07:03.has been presented to them? In from food. It is headed just over. Big
:07:04. > :07:09.chance. Abdul Osman. Their best chance of the match. A free header
:07:10. > :07:16.at the back post. He headers it over the bar. He has got to hit the
:07:17. > :07:20.target. He has to score, it is a sitter. He has to force a replay
:07:21. > :07:40.with that. He knows it. The Aberdeen fans with a rendition
:07:41. > :07:47.of the Northern lights. It will be a yellow card here as well. A second
:07:48. > :07:53.one for Danny Devine. He will make it to the bath just before the rest
:07:54. > :07:57.of his team-mates. That sums up the afternoon. Smashed into the boards
:07:58. > :08:27.here. It does look painful. Less than two to play of the injury
:08:28. > :08:34.time. We'll Partick Thistle be left with regret? They have not laid a
:08:35. > :08:40.glove on Aberdeen. Christie happy to try and run down the clock. That
:08:41. > :08:45.Osman chances the only real chance in the match for Partick Thistle. A
:08:46. > :08:51.massive chance. They haven't really deserved anything from this game.
:08:52. > :08:56.The sun setting behind the stand. It is setting on the Scottish Cup hopes
:08:57. > :08:58.of Partick Thistle here. At the wrong end of the park and only one
:08:59. > :09:13.minute left. Pushed forward by Edwards. That will
:09:14. > :09:21.do from an Aberdeen point of view right now. They have not been at
:09:22. > :09:27.their flamboyant best, Aberdeen, but they know how to win games of
:09:28. > :09:30.football. As I said earlier, it is not about performance in the latter
:09:31. > :09:43.stages of the cup, only the result matters. It was a difficult tie this
:09:44. > :09:46.afternoon against Partick Thistle. They deserve a semifinal place
:09:47. > :09:52.should they get there and they are almost there. This has gone Partick
:09:53. > :09:59.Thistle's way. Will we get one last chance? I didn't think that was a
:10:00. > :10:06.foul. I think Craig Thomson thinks he has the ball trapped under his
:10:07. > :10:10.legs. Both teams were at it. We have played the five minutes of stoppage
:10:11. > :10:17.time, added time in added time now. Callum Booth has a good set piece in
:10:18. > :10:23.him. Goalkeeper has come up for it as well, Christie can't get there.
:10:24. > :10:26.Taylor blasted home, Hayes will chase it down but the referee blow
:10:27. > :10:34.for full-time before Hayes can get onto it. He was sure he would be in
:10:35. > :10:39.for a second goal, but one will do. Scored by Graham Shinichi McRae
:10:40. > :10:41.minutes before half-time. Derek McKinney 's has guided Aberdeen back
:10:42. > :10:47.to the semifinals of the Scottish Cup. They will have that opportunity
:10:48. > :10:54.potentially to lift the trophy for the first time since 1990. For the
:10:55. > :10:58.eighth time overall. Alan Archibald applauds the Partick Thistle fans
:10:59. > :11:02.who came up in good numbers but an afternoon of frustration for him and
:11:03. > :11:07.his players. Although they have been in fine form. Graham Shinichi is the
:11:08. > :11:16.hero and may end up facing up to his brother Andrew when the draw is made
:11:17. > :11:27.later. It finishes with Aberdeen marching on. STUDIO: What a chance
:11:28. > :11:32.of the Partick Thistle Captain Abdul Osman at the end. Graham Shinichi
:11:33. > :11:36.the Aberdeen captain gets the only goal of the game which sends them
:11:37. > :11:39.into the last four. You would be hard pushed to say they did not
:11:40. > :11:45.deserve it. They thoroughly deserved it. The second half performance,
:11:46. > :11:51.created a number of chances. The only thing lacking was finishing
:11:52. > :11:54.those chances. Graham Shinnie was immense today, wonderful goal and
:11:55. > :12:00.his all-round play was fantastic. His energy and determination. His
:12:01. > :12:07.physicality was superb. The goal was just wonderful use of skill from
:12:08. > :12:12.him. But Derek McInnis got the tactics absolutely right. He won
:12:13. > :12:14.that battle. Not the best of games, better second half but Aberdeen
:12:15. > :12:20.thoroughly deserved to be in the semis. Partick Thistle will be
:12:21. > :12:25.disappointed it took till stoppage time before a serious chance of
:12:26. > :12:28.scoring. You saw Alan Archibald walking down the touchline and he
:12:29. > :12:32.will be disappointed. Two microseconds before it happened, you
:12:33. > :12:36.always expect the side to get an microseconds before it happened, you
:12:37. > :12:43.opportunity. We going to interrupt duty took the Graham Shinnie.
:12:44. > :12:47.Congratulations. Was that a hard-fought victory? Yes,
:12:48. > :12:50.definitely. We have played Partick Thistle a couple of times recently
:12:51. > :12:55.and we knew what we would get. They have been on a great run of form. So
:12:56. > :13:03.have we come up until Tuesday. It was always going to be a hard battle
:13:04. > :13:07.and luckily we came out on top. Your goal, you knew you were hitting it?
:13:08. > :13:13.It opened up nicely for me. In training, that is what we practice
:13:14. > :13:19.every day. They normally go in during training but not in the game.
:13:20. > :13:26.So it was nice. Congratulations, you are the Man of the Match. It is a
:13:27. > :13:32.great story, Andrew Shinnie Man of the Match for Hibs and now his
:13:33. > :13:40.brother here. An exciting semifinal line-up. It is top-notch. Looking
:13:41. > :13:44.forward to the draw. Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs. It doesn't
:13:45. > :13:47.matter who gets who, the quality will be there. I am sure there will
:13:48. > :13:55.be better quality than we saw today will be there. I am sure there will
:13:56. > :13:59.but it should be exciting. Partick Thistle will be very disappointed
:14:00. > :14:02.that it took to injury time to get a real opportunity. Osman will be
:14:03. > :14:08.devastated he didn't do better. It was a scrappy game. Aberdeen were
:14:09. > :14:11.not great to watch either but there was no doubt they thoroughly
:14:12. > :14:16.deserved it. A lot of it was down to Graham Shinnie. He was the centre of
:14:17. > :14:23.everything that was good from Aberdeen. The draw around 5:30pm,
:14:24. > :14:29.highlights the night from 10:30pm on BBC Scotland. From all of us,
:14:30. > :15:20.goodbye for now. They... They just wiped
:15:21. > :15:29.their hands of us.
