6:08:11 > 6:08:13to keep us going for the entire summer.

6:08:34 > 6:08:39Talking heads. We meet the new coaches making their mark in Hull.

6:08:39 > 6:08:41And hold on tight.

6:08:41 > 6:08:44The Warrington Wolves are the latest team to go egg-chasing.

6:08:50 > 6:08:54We have representatives of Wigan and St Helens in the studio with us.

6:08:54 > 6:08:57Between them, they've kicked more than 600 goals in Super League.

6:08:57 > 6:09:01Pat Richards of Wigan has 601. Saints' Jon Wilkin...

6:09:01 > 6:09:03But we'll move on, shall we, Jon?

6:09:03 > 6:09:07Because Saturday night saw undoubtedly the biggest fixture of the season so far,

6:09:07 > 6:09:09Wigan versus Leeds,

6:09:09 > 6:09:11a genuine clash of the titans.

6:09:19 > 6:09:23Oh, here's an opportunity. Look at the speed on this lad, and he's...

6:09:24 > 6:09:26What a magnificent try!

6:09:28 > 6:09:31There he goes!

6:09:31 > 6:09:33Unbelievable!

6:09:33 > 6:09:35Here it comes! Wigan looking to strike again!

6:09:35 > 6:09:38Laverty too!

6:09:38 > 6:09:39Oh!

6:09:40 > 6:09:44This is going to be the try of the season!

6:09:44 > 6:09:48That was absolutely sensational!

6:09:48 > 6:09:49This is a champion side!

6:09:49 > 6:09:54And Martin Offiah trying to make some space!

6:09:54 > 6:09:57Martin Offiah, he's got Alan Tait to beat

6:09:57 > 6:09:59on the outside! He's going the full length!

6:09:59 > 6:10:03That is one sensational try!

6:10:07 > 6:10:09For the first time in a long time,

6:10:09 > 6:10:11English coaches in charge of both these clubs

6:10:11 > 6:10:14for this most traditional of fixtures.

6:10:14 > 6:10:16The young centre Jack Hughes starts for Wigan

6:10:16 > 6:10:19in the absence of the injured George Carmont.

6:10:19 > 6:10:20Leeds haven't lost a game

6:10:20 > 6:10:23since that Challenge Cup final defeat to Wigan last August.

6:10:23 > 6:10:26Kallum Watkins misses out with a wrist injury.

6:10:26 > 6:10:28Weller Hauraki comes into the side.

6:10:30 > 6:10:33And carrying on in the spirit of j'accuse...!

6:10:33 > 6:10:36It's the Frenchman Thierry Alibert, our referee tonight.

6:10:38 > 6:10:40There's McIlorum.

6:10:40 > 6:10:44Wigan sensing maybe an opportunity growing here.

6:10:44 > 6:10:47Certainly close enough. Hock with the offload.

6:10:47 > 6:10:49Tomkins involved again.

6:10:49 > 6:10:52And Wigan keeping it alive here.

6:10:52 > 6:10:53Hock with the drive.

6:10:54 > 6:10:56Four to put him down.

6:10:56 > 6:11:00Here's McIlorum. Wants to get on with it.

6:11:00 > 6:11:01Wigan within sight.

6:11:02 > 6:11:06Here's O'Loughlin. Good hands to Charnley!

6:11:06 > 6:11:10And Josh Charnley might just have scored the first of the night.

6:11:10 > 6:11:12WHISTLE BLOWS

6:11:12 > 6:11:13Or has he?

6:11:13 > 6:11:16They're looking for obstruction here

6:11:16 > 6:11:19in the build-up to this try.

6:11:19 > 6:11:21Now have a look at the dummy runner.

6:11:21 > 6:11:24Was Jamie Jones-Buchanan taken out of defence here?

6:11:29 > 6:11:31Finch with the ball away,

6:11:31 > 6:11:33and Jones-Buchanan was hit.

6:11:33 > 6:11:38And the video referee has decided it was an obstruction. No try!

6:11:38 > 6:11:41That's raised a few questions.

6:11:41 > 6:11:43Move! Get in!

6:11:45 > 6:11:47There's Finch.

6:11:47 > 6:11:50Four! Move!

6:11:50 > 6:11:52Hughes.

6:11:52 > 6:11:55He looked reasonably impressive so far tonight, the youngster.

6:11:55 > 6:11:57Certainly an athletic build.

6:11:57 > 6:12:00Here's Tomkins now, takes a couple of players out with the angle of his run

6:12:00 > 6:12:03and Charnley putting the foot down,

6:12:03 > 6:12:07looking for the line, this time inside Brent Webb,

6:12:07 > 6:12:09and Charnley by the sticks.

6:12:10 > 6:12:15Not happy with the involvement of Lee Smith at the end of it.

6:12:15 > 6:12:18But the try given on this occasion.

6:12:18 > 6:12:21That's a little bit naughty in the in-goal area.

6:12:22 > 6:12:25But Josh Charnley has his try

6:12:25 > 6:12:28and it came on the back of some very good work by Sam Tomkins here,

6:12:28 > 6:12:31drawing two defenders in. Good centre play by Goulding,

6:12:31 > 6:12:35and a very smart finish by the Wigan winger.

6:12:39 > 6:12:41Although he wasn't happy with Lee Smith.

6:12:44 > 6:12:48Shaun Wane looking for his first win as Wigan coach, of course,

6:12:48 > 6:12:52after that surprise defeat to Huddersfield last week.

6:12:54 > 6:12:55Here's McIlorum.

6:12:57 > 6:13:02Tomkins again involved, and Tomkins ripping a hole in that Leeds defence

6:13:02 > 6:13:05and laying it on a plate for Charnley to get a second!

6:13:05 > 6:13:09Might have had a hat-trick already tonight, but for the video referee,

6:13:09 > 6:13:11but he does have two.

6:13:11 > 6:13:17And they have both come courtesy of some very good play by Sam Tomkins.

6:13:18 > 6:13:22Charnley with the simplest of finishes.

6:13:22 > 6:13:24Move! It's out!

6:13:24 > 6:13:25Here's McIlorum.

6:13:28 > 6:13:30Oh, and it's been dropped.

6:13:30 > 6:13:32Leapt on by Harrison Hansen with a line,

6:13:32 > 6:13:34not quite at his mercy,

6:13:34 > 6:13:38but certainly begging to be questioned by that Wigan attack.

6:13:38 > 6:13:40Jones-Buchanan taking it away.

6:13:40 > 6:13:44This was the moment, this was the moment, and as he drops it,

6:13:44 > 6:13:46Leeds make a break here. It's Ryan Hall

6:13:46 > 6:13:49and Burrow kicks it on.

6:13:49 > 6:13:51It's given us a forward pass

6:13:51 > 6:13:56when Burrow would have fancied his chances of scoring.

6:13:56 > 6:14:00And that's a harsh decision. It's a very harsh decision.

6:14:03 > 6:14:06Frustration for Leeds, and Ryan Hall.

6:14:06 > 6:14:08It remains 12-nil.

6:14:10 > 6:14:12There's McIlorum.

6:14:14 > 6:14:17Looked a little high, and was.

6:14:17 > 6:14:20Darrell Griffin and Jamie Peacock maybe both guilty

6:14:20 > 6:14:24of taking the player higher than they should have done.

6:14:25 > 6:14:29My word, there was a bit of a crunch there, wasn't there?

6:14:31 > 6:14:34So the penalty goes Wigan and Tuson's way,

6:14:34 > 6:14:38and a chance for Pat Richards to extend the lead here.

6:14:38 > 6:14:4012-nil at the moment,

6:14:40 > 6:14:44this to make it a three-score lead that Wigan have.

6:14:44 > 6:14:4714 points to nil. The task is getting harder for Leeds here.

6:14:49 > 6:14:52Wigan are grinding it out, and young and old alike

6:14:52 > 6:14:57will be enjoying what they're seeing if they're watching in Wigan colours.

6:14:57 > 6:14:59Move it!

6:14:59 > 6:15:01Hold!

6:15:01 > 6:15:04Robbie Burrow, into the marshalling position.

6:15:06 > 6:15:10Slipped back on the inside by Kevin Sinfield, and Webb in support!

6:15:10 > 6:15:14Wigan's defence was smart enough, but they're under pressure here.

6:15:14 > 6:15:16It's Leeds's turn to pose a question.

6:15:16 > 6:15:20The drive by Griffin! Darrell Griffin!

6:15:20 > 6:15:22Has he got this down?

6:15:22 > 6:15:24The referee says he has

6:15:24 > 6:15:27and Leeds are back in the game.

6:15:29 > 6:15:35Sheer determination here from Darrell Griffin, and the try was his reward.

6:15:35 > 6:15:38And a coach who will have appreciated that.

6:15:40 > 6:15:44So Leeds right back in contention here.

6:15:44 > 6:15:49Another try quickly, and it's a very different storyline here tonight.

6:15:49 > 6:15:51Move! Hold, hold.

6:15:51 > 6:15:54Struggled to find their poise at times, but here they are

6:15:54 > 6:15:57with a real chance to grasp themselves back in the game.

6:15:57 > 6:15:59Griffin with the offload on Webb!

6:15:59 > 6:16:02Well, almost a tryline at his mercy, even from 80 yards out,

6:16:02 > 6:16:04because there was nobody home,

6:16:04 > 6:16:07and this stocked Griffin with a great offload

6:16:07 > 6:16:10but Webb couldn't keep hold and a try goes a-begging.

6:16:12 > 6:16:13Here's Peacock.

6:16:16 > 6:16:19So they've had their chances here.

6:16:20 > 6:16:24It's a question of keeping their mojo when it matters. And Hall again!

6:16:24 > 6:16:26Another one spilt by Leeds.

6:16:27 > 6:16:31Moving it wide, and Hauraki with the overlap on the outside

6:16:31 > 6:16:34couldn't keep hold, couldn't get it away.

6:16:34 > 6:16:36And Leeds miss a very good opportunity again.

6:16:38 > 6:16:39Here's Richards.

6:16:41 > 6:16:44Wigan looking for this centre ground once more,

6:16:44 > 6:16:47and out wide, here's O'Loughlin and Goulding.

6:16:47 > 6:16:49Good offload from Goulding.

6:16:49 > 6:16:51Hat-trick for Josh Charnley!

6:16:51 > 6:16:54The simplest of the night, as far as he's concerned.

6:16:54 > 6:16:59But great hands in the build-up, not least from Goulding and O'Laughlin...

6:17:00 > 6:17:03..to simply draw this Leeds defence in

6:17:03 > 6:17:06and leave an almighty gap out wide.

6:17:07 > 6:17:09Good work by Goulding.

6:17:09 > 6:17:12It's a first hat-trick in Wigan colours for Josh Charnley,

6:17:12 > 6:17:14and a first win as Wigan coach for Shaun Wane.

6:17:16 > 6:17:20Pat, were you a bit chastened after last week's defeat to Huddersfield?

6:17:20 > 6:17:22Yeah, it wasn't the greatest start for us,

6:17:22 > 6:17:26but it was great to turn it around, come out and perform like we did,

6:17:26 > 6:17:28that was really pleasing.

6:17:28 > 6:17:31We spoke about a few things last week we weren't happy about,

6:17:31 > 6:17:33and like I said, to go out and perform pretty well,

6:17:33 > 6:17:35it was really pleasing.

6:17:35 > 6:17:38It's a tough game, isn't it? Leeds as your second in the season.

6:17:38 > 6:17:41Yeah, exactly. They're the champions as well,

6:17:41 > 6:17:45so it was great to have a big game at home after a loss like that.

6:17:45 > 6:17:47We didn't want to start the season off like that,

6:17:47 > 6:17:50but yeah, it was great to have them come out,

6:17:50 > 6:17:51and it was on telly as well,

6:17:51 > 6:17:55so it was a great atmosphere at the ground as well.

6:17:55 > 6:17:58Josh Charnley had three cracking tries. He looks a right character.

6:17:58 > 6:18:02Yeah, I don't know too much about those dance moves and his hairstyle,

6:18:02 > 6:18:04but he's a good finisher

6:18:04 > 6:18:06and playing really good footy at the moment,

6:18:06 > 6:18:10and all the other boys in the middle done a great job setting him up

6:18:10 > 6:18:11and he'd be the first to say that.

6:18:11 > 6:18:14And Sam Tomkins very involved in all of them,

6:18:14 > 6:18:16he looks absolutely on top of the game.

6:18:16 > 6:18:19How has he coped with all the attention on him?

6:18:19 > 6:18:21He's doing great, nothing really changes too much

6:18:21 > 6:18:24once he steps out on the field, and the training field too.

6:18:24 > 6:18:27Sam's a great professional, doing a great job for us.

6:18:27 > 6:18:29He's certainly got that X factor.

6:18:29 > 6:18:31He's got so much speed out there,

6:18:31 > 6:18:35it just creates that avalanche a lot of the time, and yeah,

6:18:35 > 6:18:38I'm certainly glad he's on our side.

6:18:38 > 6:18:41Should Josh Charnley have had a fourth try, an opening try?

6:18:41 > 6:18:43What did you make of the obstruction?

6:18:43 > 6:18:46Yeah, I thought it could have been given.

6:18:46 > 6:18:50The player didn't get impeded too much, and it went on from that,

6:18:50 > 6:18:52so I thought it was a try,

6:18:52 > 6:18:56but, you know, I think the benefit of the doubt should have been given.

6:18:56 > 6:18:59Common sense should have prevailed.

6:18:59 > 6:19:02But they're the rules, you can't obviously touch a player,

6:19:02 > 6:19:05and we got on with it. It didn't come back to haunt us,

6:19:05 > 6:19:08so we're just glad to get the win.

6:19:08 > 6:19:11- Jon, is that a rule that should be looked at?- I think, like he said,

6:19:11 > 6:19:13common sense should prevail there.

6:19:13 > 6:19:16I think the defender was impeded,

6:19:16 > 6:19:19but wasn't involved in the sort of play that resulted in the try

6:19:19 > 6:19:21so I think for me it was a try.

6:19:21 > 6:19:25I think all coaches and players would probably agree with that,

6:19:25 > 6:19:28so when there's a case like that, I think we probably need to look at it.

6:19:28 > 6:19:31What do you make of Leeds' performance last night?

6:19:31 > 6:19:34I thought they tried really hard, the effort was there,

6:19:34 > 6:19:36but I think what they came up against

6:19:36 > 6:19:39was a Wigan side who really turned up with their A game.

6:19:39 > 6:19:42Certainly defensively, I thought Wigan were outstanding

6:19:42 > 6:19:45and that was probably the star of the show for me, Wigan's defence.

6:19:45 > 6:19:48I know Charnley got the headlines with his tries,

6:19:48 > 6:19:51but certainly Wigan looked so solid,

6:19:51 > 6:19:54composed, controlled in a lot of elements of their defence.

6:19:54 > 6:19:57Yeah, I think it's a challenge for Leeds,

6:19:57 > 6:20:00as a few of their players really had stand-out games.

6:20:00 > 6:20:03- Rob Burrow ran for, I think... - What did you make of him?

6:20:03 > 6:20:06He played the full 80 minutes, which didn't happen last year.

6:20:06 > 6:20:07He came off the bench.

6:20:07 > 6:20:10I think with the interchanges, you need players like this now.

6:20:10 > 6:20:13Unfortunately for Rob, he was defending out on an edge.

6:20:13 > 6:20:15He only made 12 tackles in the game,

6:20:15 > 6:20:18which is not a lot for a guy playing a hooker,

6:20:18 > 6:20:22but he ran for 146 metres in the game. I think he topped the metres,

6:20:22 > 6:20:25so it shows you that he's done very well in the game.

6:20:25 > 6:20:28Another stand-out player, Jamie Jones Buchanan for Leeds,

6:20:28 > 6:20:31I thought he did well. He does a lot of the tough stuff,

6:20:31 > 6:20:35regular for Leeds. Yeah, Rob would be a big player for Leeds,

6:20:35 > 6:20:37as we found out in the grand final against us,

6:20:37 > 6:20:41he really was the difference between the two sides in that game.

6:20:41 > 6:20:45A typically brought blunt quote from Brian McDermott afterwards -

6:20:45 > 6:20:48he called it "a 12-round title fight but we couldn't land a punch."

6:20:48 > 6:20:53That's it, yeah, Wigan's strength is that consistency in their defence

6:20:53 > 6:20:58and scoring points against them, for any side, is a challenge this year

6:20:58 > 6:21:02and the key to unlocking it is going to be the key to beating them,

6:21:02 > 6:21:05and I'll try and get some tips off Pat after the show.

6:21:05 > 6:21:08- There may be some ways round it. - Just quickly,

6:21:08 > 6:21:11are there any major tweaks from Shaun Wane, the new coach?

6:21:11 > 6:21:15Yeah, Waney's done a great job so far. Our pre-season's been spot-on.

6:21:15 > 6:21:18He's been there for the last couple of years, but yeah,

6:21:18 > 6:21:22since it's been taken over, he's added a few little things,

6:21:22 > 6:21:24his own little subtleties to our game,

6:21:24 > 6:21:27and he was really pleased with our performance.

6:21:27 > 6:21:29Like Jon said, our defence, we base our game on that

6:21:29 > 6:21:33and to defend like that against a really dangerous side like Leeds

6:21:33 > 6:21:36who throw the ball around a lot, we were really pleased with that.

6:21:36 > 6:21:40Well, the fixture computer has been a little cruel to London Broncos.

6:21:40 > 6:21:42In Round One, they had to face St Helens

6:21:42 > 6:21:45and on Sunday, in Round Two, they travelled to Warrington.

6:21:45 > 6:21:47Jon, a bit of a hammering for them.

6:21:47 > 6:21:52Yeah, I think facing Warrington at any stage of the year is difficult.

6:21:52 > 6:21:55They've probably come back from Australia preseason,

6:21:55 > 6:21:59had a bit of a rusty start and then really hit their straps this week.

6:21:59 > 6:22:03What you see from them is their ability to score tries from anywhere on the field,

6:22:03 > 6:22:04to throw the ball around.

6:22:04 > 6:22:07When you've got creative players like Lee Briers on the field,

6:22:07 > 6:22:10you're always going to create opportunities.

6:22:10 > 6:22:13I think, for me, last year, they really set the standard in attack -

6:22:13 > 6:22:16they scored over 1,000 points last year

6:22:16 > 6:22:19and this year, for me, they're a big, big threat

6:22:19 > 6:22:20for anybody who plays them.

6:22:20 > 6:22:24Controlling the number of points they score is a challenge for anyone,

6:22:24 > 6:22:26and they seem to have set off like they ended last year.

6:22:26 > 6:22:29Lee Briers missed last week - he was dropped.

6:22:29 > 6:22:32Back and absolutely central and praised very much by Tony Smith.

6:22:32 > 6:22:35You see his contribution across the park.

6:22:35 > 6:22:38Yeah, Lee's one of those players that he has days like this,

6:22:38 > 6:22:40where everything he touches turns to gold.

6:22:40 > 6:22:42And he certainly seems, from this performance,

6:22:42 > 6:22:44that he's got everything right.

6:22:44 > 6:22:46He made a lot of good decisions with the ball

6:22:46 > 6:22:49and what will be pleasing as well is that,

6:22:49 > 6:22:51for Warrington, they've not conceded many points.

6:22:51 > 6:22:55As a coach, you're happy to score these high-scoring games.

6:22:55 > 6:22:57You know, get your points up.

6:22:57 > 6:22:59It's great they're not conceding as well.

6:22:59 > 6:23:03Tony Smith will be as pleased with that as with the attacking side of things.

6:23:03 > 6:23:06You were quite impressed with London last week?

6:23:06 > 6:23:08Yeah, I think that they were primed to play that game.

6:23:08 > 6:23:11Very difficult to play in London.

6:23:11 > 6:23:15I think London away is a difficult fixture for anyone.

6:23:15 > 6:23:18They faced a very confident Warrington side

6:23:18 > 6:23:22with new recruits like Ratchford in the side.

6:23:22 > 6:23:24You know, they'll learn some lessons from this.

6:23:24 > 6:23:27A great try, this, for him on his home debut, isn't it?

6:23:27 > 6:23:29Yeah, and it just shows you what he's about -

6:23:29 > 6:23:34he's all about his instincts, Stef, and he showed great instincts there,

6:23:34 > 6:23:36to carry on his run and score the try.

6:23:36 > 6:23:39Yeah, I think, like I said, Warrington are a threat

6:23:39 > 6:23:41because they can score from any position on the field

6:23:41 > 6:23:45and when they've got players like Lee setting up tries

6:23:45 > 6:23:47and scoring tries, they're going to be tough.

6:23:47 > 6:23:50Pat, do you think Warrington feel they've got a point to prove

6:23:50 > 6:23:52after the ending of last season for them?

6:23:52 > 6:23:55Yeah, they were consistent all the way through the year.

6:23:55 > 6:23:59And they wouldn't have been happy to finish the way they did,

6:23:59 > 6:24:01but, just like everyone else,

6:24:01 > 6:24:04they've got a long way to wait for the business end to...

6:24:04 > 6:24:06When it really matters to start again.

6:24:06 > 6:24:08So it's about week-in, week-out but, like you see there,

6:24:08 > 6:24:11once Warrington get on a roll, they're pretty hard to stop.

6:24:11 > 6:24:14They are indeed. If you were with us last week,

6:24:14 > 6:24:17you will have seen Castleford Tigers have the prestigious honour

6:24:17 > 6:24:20of being the first team to try their hand at Egg Chasers.

6:24:20 > 6:24:22It's a bit of fun featuring a bunch of Super League players,

6:24:22 > 6:24:25a giant egg and spoon, and an obstacle course.

6:24:25 > 6:24:28I'll let Dave Woods guide you through it.

6:24:31 > 6:24:35Seconds away, it's time for Round Two of the Egg Chasers.

6:24:35 > 6:24:38This week, the Warrington Wolves are into the FRYING PAN

6:24:38 > 6:24:41of our CRACKING new obstacle course.

6:24:41 > 6:24:43A late handling error cost the Castleford Tigers

6:24:43 > 6:24:45a five-second penalty last week.

6:24:45 > 6:24:47The Wolves are hungry like, well, wolves

6:24:47 > 6:24:49to climb to the top of the pack.

6:24:49 > 6:24:51Three team-mates negotiate the course

6:24:51 > 6:24:53whilst carrying a giant egg and spoon.

6:24:53 > 6:24:56Over the season, the quickest team will claim the prize.

6:24:56 > 6:24:59But be careful, because time penalties apply.

6:24:59 > 6:25:01So who are the three Warrington Wolves

6:25:01 > 6:25:04ready to accept the egg-chasing challenge?

6:25:04 > 6:25:06Chris Riley, winger.

6:25:06 > 6:25:08Ryan Atkins, centre.

6:25:08 > 6:25:10Brooke Broughton, prop forward.

6:25:10 > 6:25:12Ryan Shaw, spoon carrier.

6:25:12 > 6:25:14LAUGHTER

6:25:14 > 6:25:15KLAXON

6:25:15 > 6:25:17So Brooke Broughton is the first to go -

6:25:17 > 6:25:19a fine, upstanding, young prop forward.

6:25:19 > 6:25:23Looks like he might eat this egg at the end of the course. He's a big lad!

6:25:23 > 6:25:25Carefully does it, carefully does it.

6:25:25 > 6:25:28But he doesn't want to let his team-mates down.

6:25:28 > 6:25:31Over the hurdle and that's not a bad first run

6:25:31 > 6:25:35by the young Warrington player. Here comes Ryan Atkins.

6:25:35 > 6:25:36Nice skip by him.

6:25:36 > 6:25:38He's a little slow, though, isn't he?

6:25:38 > 6:25:40A little too cautious.

6:25:40 > 6:25:44It's like watching your grandfather dancing with your grandmother, this.

6:25:44 > 6:25:47But he is going to get there in the end, finally.

6:25:47 > 6:25:48Now Chris Riley.

6:25:48 > 6:25:52There's something about redheads when it comes to this obstacle course -

6:25:52 > 6:25:54they do take it very seriously.

6:25:54 > 6:25:56Here he comes, carefully again.

6:25:56 > 6:25:58Oh, wake me up when he's finished, will you?

6:25:58 > 6:26:02Come on, Chris! Get a move on! There's a time to be beaten!

6:26:02 > 6:26:04And the obstacles are just getting harder!

6:26:04 > 6:26:07Ah, who needs enemies with friends like that?

6:26:07 > 6:26:09Warrington? Pathetic.

6:26:09 > 6:26:12Absolutely pathetic.

6:26:12 > 6:26:19Well, the Wolves completed the course in a mind-numbing 52.5 seconds.

6:26:19 > 6:26:22And 15 seconds' worth of time penalties

6:26:22 > 6:26:25are likely to cost them in the final analysis.

6:26:26 > 6:26:29Well, if anybody still cares,

6:26:29 > 6:26:31Castleford Tigers lead after Week Two,

6:26:31 > 6:26:36and that time of 49.78 seconds looks like a tough one to beat.

6:26:36 > 6:26:41Egg Chasers will be back next week, and we promise to be pun-free.

6:26:41 > 6:26:43OM-LETTing you make up your own puns at home.

6:26:44 > 6:26:47- Yes!- Now I should tell you both that obviously the two teams

6:26:47 > 6:26:51that have done it have then won their game that week,

6:26:51 > 6:26:52so I trust you'll take it seriously.

6:26:52 > 6:26:54Picking up any tips?

6:26:54 > 6:26:57Yeah, I could do with that spoon for my cereal in the morning.

6:26:57 > 6:27:00It'd make it a lot shorter process.

6:27:00 > 6:27:03- Maybe at the end of the run, we'll put it up for bids for you.- Cheers.

6:27:03 > 6:27:06Huddersfield were the big winners of Week One

6:27:06 > 6:27:09and they were looking to back up their win at Wigan

6:27:09 > 6:27:11with home success against Widnes.

6:27:11 > 6:27:12They did it in some style, Pat.

6:27:12 > 6:27:16How impressed were you when Huddersfield beat you last week?

6:27:16 > 6:27:19Yeah, I thought they played really well.

6:27:19 > 6:27:21Their defence was great, they ran hard.

6:27:21 > 6:27:24Danny Brough's kicking game was really solid as well,

6:27:24 > 6:27:27and they've got a few players that can really hurt you when they get on a roll.

6:27:27 > 6:27:30I think in this game, they scored some really great tries.

6:27:30 > 6:27:33That's the first of four for Leroy Cudjoe.

6:27:33 > 6:27:35Yeah, he played well last week as well.

6:27:35 > 6:27:38He's a good talent out there, he's a big handful when he gets going

6:27:38 > 6:27:41and, you know, Nathan Brown's got this side pretty well coached

6:27:41 > 6:27:44and, as you see, they have great shape there

6:27:44 > 6:27:46and they're always in the right position,

6:27:46 > 6:27:48so I think Widnes found it a tough day.

6:27:48 > 6:27:50And only one overseas player in the 17.

6:27:50 > 6:27:53That's a great sign for Super League, isn't it?

6:27:53 > 6:27:54Yeah, it is. Yeah.

6:27:54 > 6:27:57You know, they're all putting their hand up, obviously,

6:27:57 > 6:27:59for the international game as well

6:27:59 > 6:28:02and it's a great thing for the league as well.

6:28:02 > 6:28:06Widnes... We had Denis Betts in last week - he's realistic about it,

6:28:06 > 6:28:08but they are going to struggle a bit.

6:28:08 > 6:28:11Yeah, I think the biggest concern here would be the defence

6:28:11 > 6:28:15and maybe the ease at which Huddersfield scored some of these tries.

6:28:15 > 6:28:19You have to credit Huddersfield with the skill, vision and awareness to take advantage,

6:28:19 > 6:28:24but I'm sure that the one key focus for Widnes this coming week

6:28:24 > 6:28:27or for the rest of the season will be that defence.

6:28:27 > 6:28:31You just really can't afford to give teams as many opportunities

6:28:31 > 6:28:34as they did, and I think what you saw with Huddersfield

6:28:34 > 6:28:37is a really ruthless performance

6:28:37 > 6:28:41with a lot of, you know, very quick, young English players in the side.

6:28:41 > 6:28:44And that's one of the strengths of the Huddersfield team, that leg speed.

6:28:44 > 6:28:47A lot of leg speed within their team, a lot of players who,

6:28:47 > 6:28:51you know, have got good speed and good agility.

6:28:51 > 6:28:53But for Widnes, it's just a case of

6:28:53 > 6:28:57having a look at their own individual defensive game

6:28:57 > 6:28:59and just trying to improve.

6:28:59 > 6:29:01That was just a consolation try for them there, really.

6:29:01 > 6:29:03It's going to be tough for them, mentally,

6:29:03 > 6:29:05to deal with a defeat like that.

6:29:05 > 6:29:07They had a psychologist in over the winter,

6:29:07 > 6:29:10but it'll be tough to come back from something that.

6:29:10 > 6:29:11It is, yeah. It's tough, it's tough,

6:29:11 > 6:29:15especially when you're watching sides run tries in against you.

6:29:15 > 6:29:19It can dent your confidence. But for Widnes, it's...

6:29:19 > 6:29:22The key is, probably, keeping their players fit.

6:29:22 > 6:29:26If they get their best choice 13 on the field consistently,

6:29:26 > 6:29:28you know, I think they will be a threat this year.

6:29:28 > 6:29:31The challenge is, you know, keeping the side fresh

6:29:31 > 6:29:34and making sure they really pick their games

6:29:34 > 6:29:37that they're going to go out there and really have an effort to win.

6:29:37 > 6:29:39They've got some great players in the side

6:29:39 > 6:29:42and this may be a one-off blip and they'll come good next week.

6:29:42 > 6:29:43Pat, just very quickly,

6:29:43 > 6:29:46is Widnes/Salford a big game for both of them next week?

6:29:46 > 6:29:48Yeah, definitely.

6:29:48 > 6:29:51Both sides are obviously going to want to get off to a good start.

6:29:51 > 6:29:52We were the same last week.

6:29:52 > 6:29:55We lost the first one, we weren't happy with that.

6:29:55 > 6:29:57It just... A win...

6:29:57 > 6:29:59That first win, you chalk that off

6:29:59 > 6:30:01and you can just take a bit of confidence out of that

6:30:01 > 6:30:02and build your season.

6:30:02 > 6:30:07Yeah, both sides will be looking forward to a great performance next week.

6:30:07 > 6:30:09And it'll kick their season off.

6:30:09 > 6:30:12So we've seen wins for Wigan, Warrington and Huddersfield.

6:30:12 > 6:30:15Here's what's still to come tonight.

6:30:19 > 6:30:21It's a historic night for St Helens

6:30:21 > 6:30:24as they open their new home at Langtree Park.

6:30:26 > 6:30:29We get to know the new neighbours.

6:30:29 > 6:30:31Craig Sandercock and Peter Gentle say hello to Hull.

6:30:32 > 6:30:34And try and try again - all the best

6:30:34 > 6:30:36and the rest of the action from Round Two.

6:30:42 > 6:30:45Super League was once again breaking new ground in Round Two.

6:30:45 > 6:30:49Last week, Salford christened their new home and on Friday,

6:30:49 > 6:30:51they were the guests as St Helens celebrated

6:30:51 > 6:30:54the first competitive fixture at Langtree Park.

6:30:54 > 6:30:57They came from far and wide to witness the occasion,

6:30:57 > 6:31:00including one of the club's greatest ever players.

6:31:00 > 6:31:02CHEERING DROWNS COMMENTARY

6:31:05 > 6:31:07Vollenhoven!

6:31:07 > 6:31:08Vollenhoven outside!

6:31:11 > 6:31:14He gives it to Vollenhoven.

6:31:14 > 6:31:17And Vollenhoven loops behind for a sensational try!

6:31:21 > 6:31:24It really is one of the nicest stadiums I've seen,

6:31:24 > 6:31:26and the decor and everything inside -

6:31:26 > 6:31:28the ladies' toilets is out of this world!

6:31:28 > 6:31:31No lady can say, "Oh, I've been in the queue so long!"

6:31:31 > 6:31:33The players, the spectators,

6:31:33 > 6:31:36the whole of St Helens can be proud of this stadium.

6:31:39 > 6:31:41But what of Knowsley Road?

6:31:41 > 6:31:45St Helens' famous old ground has been demolished and is now just a building site,

6:31:45 > 6:31:47with new houses being erected on the spot

6:31:47 > 6:31:50that witnessed some of rugby league's greatest ever moments.

6:31:50 > 6:31:53Would you believe it?

6:31:53 > 6:31:57You'd better believe it! This is St Helens!

6:31:57 > 6:31:59Very sad. Look, there's a lot of memories there.

6:31:59 > 6:32:01A lot of memories over 120 years.

6:32:01 > 6:32:06But that's in the past. We must look forward, and this is the future.

6:32:09 > 6:32:13So the first footsteps into the future for St Helens.

6:32:13 > 6:32:15Tom Van Vollenhoven and the other Saints legends

6:32:15 > 6:32:18adding a touch of class to the grand opening night.

6:32:18 > 6:32:21They're hoping this will be a night to remember.

6:32:21 > 6:32:23All except one ex-Saint -

6:32:23 > 6:32:25the current Salford coach, Phil Veivers.

6:32:28 > 6:32:30- Here's Howarth.- Go, two.

6:32:30 > 6:32:32Anxious to get on with it here, from dummy half Matty Smith,

6:32:32 > 6:32:35another of those who once plied his trade at St Helens.

6:32:35 > 6:32:40Good hands here along the line. Joel Moon. Good offload for Broughton!

6:32:40 > 6:32:42Jodie Broughton! Party pooped!

6:32:42 > 6:32:46Salford with the first try at this new stadium.

6:32:46 > 6:32:49It's a good one, too.

6:32:49 > 6:32:51An excellent finish by Jodie Broughton.

6:32:54 > 6:32:59Salford have the lead, against all expectations.

6:33:00 > 6:33:04Ooh, that's a big hit by Danny Williams.

6:33:04 > 6:33:08Chris Flannery would not have expected that.

6:33:08 > 6:33:10Terrific strike by the winger.

6:33:12 > 6:33:13Salford mean business here tonight.

6:33:15 > 6:33:18Despite the fact the script suggests St Helens should have the victory.

6:33:18 > 6:33:23But here comes Williams again. Little kick. Touched down by Ashley Gibson!

6:33:24 > 6:33:28It's great play by Williams to keep his head and put the kick in.

6:33:28 > 6:33:32Gibson follows up. Two tries for Salford.

6:33:32 > 6:33:35St Helens on the rack.

6:33:35 > 6:33:37Go.

6:33:37 > 6:33:38Roby.

6:33:40 > 6:33:43St Helens looking out wide through Meli.

6:33:43 > 6:33:49Again, it was a big hit from the shoulder of Williams, but Meli bouncing off him.

6:33:49 > 6:33:50This is Josh Perry.

6:33:50 > 6:33:54That's a terrific offload if they're waiting for it, and they are.

6:33:54 > 6:33:57Eventually. Lomax.

6:33:57 > 6:33:59Trying to fiddle a way through.

6:33:59 > 6:34:03St Helens getting closer. The noise is getting louder.

6:34:04 > 6:34:06Roby.

6:34:06 > 6:34:10Soliola. Three around him. Soliola's over.

6:34:10 > 6:34:13CHEERING Well, has he got it down here?

6:34:13 > 6:34:14WHISTLE

6:34:14 > 6:34:16Certainly Richard Silverwood's not sure.

6:34:16 > 6:34:18The video referee has a look.

6:34:18 > 6:34:21Well, it's not conclusive.

6:34:21 > 6:34:24It's not conclusive, one way or another.

6:34:27 > 6:34:31And the try is given as a benefit of the doubt.

6:34:31 > 6:34:35And they can barely believe it in the Salford trenches.

6:34:37 > 6:34:39Two! Move once!

6:34:39 > 6:34:40On the line!

6:34:40 > 6:34:42That's how close they are.

6:34:42 > 6:34:43Here's Howarth.

6:34:43 > 6:34:47Matty Smith. Quick hands again. Here comes a chance for Gibson!

6:34:49 > 6:34:52Had two wrapped around him, but did he still get it down?

6:34:53 > 6:34:57Well, having seen one try given in the benefit of the doubt,

6:34:57 > 6:34:59are we to see another one here?

6:34:59 > 6:35:02Although it's good work by Dixon to get his hands on that ball,

6:35:02 > 6:35:04was it touched down?

6:35:04 > 6:35:05No gamble.

6:35:05 > 6:35:09"No gamble," says the referee. "No try," says the video referee.

6:35:09 > 6:35:11I think that's known as an ironic smile.

6:35:12 > 6:35:13Third tackle.

6:35:13 > 6:35:16Down the line. Don't be offside, four!

6:35:16 > 6:35:17- Go!- Here's Roby.

6:35:18 > 6:35:20Spinning it back to Lomax again.

6:35:20 > 6:35:22Salford quick off their line,

6:35:22 > 6:35:26which means that Wilkin has to take the tackle and start from here.

6:35:27 > 6:35:30Here's Roby on the sixth.

6:35:30 > 6:35:33Sliding the kick through for the chaser, Dixon.

6:35:33 > 6:35:36Picked up again by Roby!

6:35:36 > 6:35:37WHISTLE

6:35:37 > 6:35:40Couple of questions to be asked here.

6:35:40 > 6:35:43I want to check the grounding. OK?

6:35:43 > 6:35:46Checking the grounding and the obstruction,

6:35:46 > 6:35:49but if this is grounded, it doesn't matter about the obstruction.

6:35:49 > 6:35:51Did it hit the ground there?

6:35:51 > 6:35:53That's the question. Is that the moment?

6:35:55 > 6:35:56Have a look again.

6:35:56 > 6:36:00Is THIS the moment when the ball touches the green grass THERE?

6:36:02 > 6:36:04Ian Smith with a decision to make.

6:36:04 > 6:36:08And, once again, it goes St Helens' way.

6:36:12 > 6:36:13Here's Makinson.

6:36:15 > 6:36:18A little bit untidy but picked up nicely by Lomax.

6:36:18 > 6:36:22The chip over the top...collected by Gaskell. Dixon on the inside.

6:36:22 > 6:36:24Went on the outside. Here comes Meli!

6:36:24 > 6:36:27Francis Meli scores!

6:36:27 > 6:36:30But, inevitably, we'll have to look again.

6:36:30 > 6:36:32Just want to check and see if Gaskell...

6:36:32 > 6:36:34Was Gaskell offside or on?

6:36:34 > 6:36:36Here.

6:36:36 > 6:36:39And he's quite clearly behind Lomax.

6:36:39 > 6:36:41So this try WILL be given.

6:36:41 > 6:36:45And St Helens have the lead for the first time

6:36:45 > 6:36:48in their new Langtree Park stadium.

6:36:48 > 6:36:52A lot of that down to the skills of Gaskell and the finishing of Meli.

6:36:52 > 6:36:55Move. Back ten.

6:36:55 > 6:36:57Here's Roby.

6:36:57 > 6:37:00Up and away again from Hohaia.

6:37:00 > 6:37:04Into the hands of Dixon. Andy Dixon!

6:37:04 > 6:37:08Fourth try for St Helens and it's beginning to look a lot easier now.

6:37:08 > 6:37:14Not so much pomp in the first half, but a little more in the second.

6:37:14 > 6:37:18And there's one former Saint, Sean Long, who's not enjoying the moment.

6:37:18 > 6:37:22These days the assistant coach of the Salford City Reds.

6:37:24 > 6:37:27Lomax, quick hands, Wilkin!

6:37:27 > 6:37:31The youngsters have had a go, and now the relative old-timers

6:37:31 > 6:37:34are getting their names in lights as well.

6:37:34 > 6:37:36Jon Wilkin, over for a fifth.

6:37:36 > 6:37:41And where once it was hard, it's becoming a lot easier for St Helens.

6:37:41 > 6:37:45Glee has turned to glum amongst the Salford camp.

6:37:45 > 6:37:46Hold, go.

6:37:46 > 6:37:49Roby...Lomax.

6:37:49 > 6:37:52Looking for an individual finish.

6:37:52 > 6:37:54Release him.

6:37:54 > 6:37:57Just held up. And here comes Roby.

6:37:57 > 6:38:01Spinning away. Again, a little kick through...

6:38:01 > 6:38:05to perfection for Andy Dixon.

6:38:05 > 6:38:08And a second try for the St Helens youngster.

6:38:10 > 6:38:13Six now. Here's Roby.

6:38:13 > 6:38:16A matter of seconds remaining.

6:38:16 > 6:38:19Well, it went backwards, the referee's decided.

6:38:19 > 6:38:22Here's another of the youngsters, Nathan Ashe,

6:38:22 > 6:38:25getting a cameo role in the late stages of this second half.

6:38:25 > 6:38:26Roby, Laffranchi...

6:38:26 > 6:38:31Well, again, it's a little messy. The referee will need another look.

6:38:31 > 6:38:35But one angle suggests he's definitely grounded it here.

6:38:35 > 6:38:38And he has.

6:38:38 > 6:38:41A try at the very last for St Helens.

6:38:41 > 6:38:43Don't mess around in the ruck, come on.

6:38:43 > 6:38:46The video referee will confirm it.

6:38:46 > 6:38:51And St Helens ultimately get a jubilant start at their new stadium.

6:38:54 > 6:38:57Is it home sweet home for you already, Jon?

6:38:57 > 6:38:58Well, it's getting there.

6:38:58 > 6:39:03I think it'll be a long time before we're well and truly settled in.

6:39:03 > 6:39:06It was a fantastic occasion for the club.

6:39:06 > 6:39:08I'm proud to be have been part of it as a player,

6:39:08 > 6:39:11especially to have all those past players

6:39:11 > 6:39:14and the greats of our club there as well

6:39:14 > 6:39:16to celebrate the opening of the new stadium.

6:39:16 > 6:39:19Roy Simmons said that maybe you were affected

6:39:19 > 6:39:21by the build-up and occasion in the first half.

6:39:21 > 6:39:26It was pretty emotional, seeing the likes of Tom van Vollenhoven there.

6:39:26 > 6:39:32It just reminds you that you're part of something more than just a current team of Super League players,

6:39:32 > 6:39:34that the club's history is so important.

6:39:34 > 6:39:38I think we probably did get caught up in that nostalgia really,

6:39:38 > 6:39:42and credit Salford, they started the game very well

6:39:42 > 6:39:46and completed their sets and really put us under pressure early doors.

6:39:46 > 6:39:51What was said at half-time? Roy Simmons strikes me as a quiet chap.

6:39:51 > 6:39:55- Does he throw things around after a first half like that? - No, he's pretty reserved.

6:39:55 > 6:39:58He just comes through a few individuals.

6:39:58 > 6:40:02He had a message for everyone, then it's more individuals,

6:40:02 > 6:40:06get to the people he needs to speak to, and it was pretty simple for us.

6:40:06 > 6:40:08Get to the end of our sets, complete our sets.

6:40:08 > 6:40:12Our ball control was terrible in the first half. The message was simple.

6:40:12 > 6:40:15We did that in the second half and you saw the results

6:40:15 > 6:40:18- in a good second-half performance. - It was quite apt,

6:40:18 > 6:40:21a night of legends in the build-up.

6:40:21 > 6:40:25You've got some cracking youngsters coming through, a new generation at St Helens.

6:40:25 > 6:40:28Saints have been fantastic in their development of young players.

6:40:28 > 6:40:32All the time I've been there. Players like Gary Wheeler.

6:40:32 > 6:40:36You see products of the academy system who come in,

6:40:36 > 6:40:40not just to make up the numbers, but they contribute to the game.

6:40:40 > 6:40:43Gary Wheeler came up with a few little breaks

6:40:43 > 6:40:45during the match

6:40:45 > 6:40:49and looked every part the great player he promises to be.

6:40:49 > 6:40:53For us, it's great to see the young players coming in,

6:40:53 > 6:40:55the young local lads,

6:40:55 > 6:40:59and really contributing to the side on a historic night for the club.

6:40:59 > 6:41:03They were an integral part to us winning this game.

6:41:03 > 6:41:07Especially Jonny Lomax, I think. He's been sensational for us.

6:41:07 > 6:41:11How do you cope with being referred to as a relative veteran?

6:41:11 > 6:41:13I just wince every day after training.

6:41:13 > 6:41:16What's it like, Pat, as you're watching?

6:41:16 > 6:41:20You've got a crop of youngsters at Wigan. What does it do to the side?

6:41:20 > 6:41:25They come with a lot of enthusiasm. We had another bloke, Jack Hughes,

6:41:25 > 6:41:29he came in the other night, and Tom Spencer made his debut too.

6:41:29 > 6:41:31It's great to see kids going from

6:41:31 > 6:41:33being in the academy and first grade,

6:41:33 > 6:41:37then getting an opportunity and taking it with both hands.

6:41:37 > 6:41:40As Jon said, it's not use just plodding along,

6:41:40 > 6:41:43they're making a big impact into the game.

6:41:43 > 6:41:47At St Helens and Wigan, we're lucky, we've got some great juniors

6:41:47 > 6:41:50starting to come through into the first grade.

6:41:50 > 6:41:55The video referee had a busy night. What did we make of the Soliola try that was given?

6:41:55 > 6:41:59Were you with the video... Have you watched that?

6:41:59 > 6:42:01Did you think he was going to give it, Jon?

6:42:01 > 6:42:06It's very difficult. You can't tell whether the ball's down or not.

6:42:06 > 6:42:09This is where the benefit of the doubt comes in.

6:42:09 > 6:42:12Phil Beevor's face says it all - he was not impressed.

6:42:12 > 6:42:13In those situations, 50/50 calls,

6:42:13 > 6:42:16when you're on the field, you always assume they'll go your way,

6:42:16 > 6:42:20so you're always upset and Phil's just showing how much he cares there.

6:42:20 > 6:42:24Yeah, there was a lot of crucial decisions and we did get a few,

6:42:24 > 6:42:28but through the season, they do even themselves out.

6:42:28 > 6:42:33Tony Smith said, after his game last week, that there should be video referees at all matches.

6:42:33 > 6:42:35We seem a long way from that,

6:42:35 > 6:42:38but is it unfair on the guys playing without the video referees?

6:42:38 > 6:42:43It would be an even competition if that was the case in every game.

6:42:43 > 6:42:46They have it in Australia, every game is televised,

6:42:46 > 6:42:49so maybe that's something we can look at in the future.

6:42:49 > 6:42:51Every game's worth two competition points,

6:42:51 > 6:42:53so it should be treated that way

6:42:53 > 6:42:56and it would be great to see it in every game.

6:42:56 > 6:43:00The "under new management" signs were up in Hull over the winter,

6:43:00 > 6:43:04as its two Super League clubs appoint new head coaches.

6:43:04 > 6:43:08Craig Sandercock and Peter Gentle have travelled halfway round the world

6:43:08 > 6:43:10to take charge on either side of the city.

6:43:10 > 6:43:13Here's what happened when east met west.

6:43:18 > 6:43:21- How are you settling in, Craig? - Yeah, good, Pete.

6:43:21 > 6:43:24It's good living in Hull, the people have been fantastic,

6:43:24 > 6:43:28everyone's very supportive, so at the moment I couldn't be happier.

6:43:28 > 6:43:32It's a long way to come, that's for sure, and it's a big decision

6:43:32 > 6:43:37because I did sign a new deal with Newcastle, but you know,

6:43:37 > 6:43:40there's only 30 real professional rugby league teams in the world,

6:43:40 > 6:43:44and to be offered a head coach, you'd be silly to turn it down.

6:43:44 > 6:43:47And yourself? You were pretty comfortable at the Tiges.

6:43:47 > 6:43:52Yeah, I was. It was a big upheaval for the family, as you're well aware,

6:43:52 > 6:43:56to relocate. Super League head coach was always on my radar.

6:43:56 > 6:43:59And I've been fortunate to pick up a role.

6:43:59 > 6:44:04I heard you had the pick of ten clubs, mate, so you've done well.

6:44:04 > 6:44:06Don't believe everything you read!

6:44:06 > 6:44:08Horne out to dummy half. Pass to Lynch, numbers on this side.

6:44:08 > 6:44:11Manu, Yeaman will score. First try for the black and whites.

6:44:11 > 6:44:14First one on the board this season.

6:44:14 > 6:44:17Which players in the Super League really stand out to you,

6:44:17 > 6:44:21and when we coach against them, we have to look out for?

6:44:21 > 6:44:24Sam Tomkins is the first that comes to mind.

6:44:24 > 6:44:27He's a special sort of player, isn't he?

6:44:27 > 6:44:29But we'll be worrying about ourselves

6:44:29 > 6:44:32and we'll do plenty of homework on Sam Tomkins in the game,

6:44:32 > 6:44:35and hopefully we can nullify him.

6:44:35 > 6:44:38Any tips you can throw my way, mate?

6:44:38 > 6:44:40Hopefully, you play him before we do.

6:44:40 > 6:44:42Who are you looking forward to playing?

6:44:42 > 6:44:46Growing up, you know, I grew up on the Wigan and the Hull

6:44:46 > 6:44:49and Peter Sterling, Brett Kenny and those top players.

6:44:49 > 6:44:52So I'm just excited about actually being involved

6:44:52 > 6:44:56- in playing those sides. - Yeah, definitely.

6:44:56 > 6:45:00What do you think of the rivalry between our two great clubs?

6:45:00 > 6:45:02It's massive, isn't it?

6:45:02 > 6:45:05From the fans' point of view, it's massive.

6:45:05 > 6:45:09From our point of view, as you'll be aware,

6:45:09 > 6:45:12we're just interested in winning each game,

6:45:12 > 6:45:15picking up two points from whoever we can.

6:45:15 > 6:45:19Probably winning a derby game is a bonus more than anything,

6:45:19 > 6:45:22but it's not something we put extra work in each week

6:45:22 > 6:45:23- to win the derby game. - Exactly right.

6:45:23 > 6:45:26The two competition points are the most crucial

6:45:26 > 6:45:30and every week you prepare the same, to play every team the same,

6:45:30 > 6:45:32but obviously for our supporters

6:45:32 > 6:45:35- it probably means a lot more. - It certainly does.

6:45:36 > 6:45:41What are your expectations for Hull RFC this season, mate?

6:45:41 > 6:45:46We're not going to put a number on it. As I mentioned,

6:45:46 > 6:45:49too many variables go into it - suspensions, injuries,

6:45:49 > 6:45:52form - there's plenty of things there.

6:45:52 > 6:45:55The stars have to be all aligned to give one a special season.

6:45:55 > 6:45:58There's plenty of potential there and if we can realise that,

6:45:58 > 6:46:01we'll be thereabouts come the end of the season. How about yourself?

6:46:01 > 6:46:04Yeah, pretty similar, I imagine.

6:46:04 > 6:46:08It's all about, er...individual improvement.

6:46:08 > 6:46:11I think if we can get every player in your team to improve,

6:46:11 > 6:46:15whether they're the youngest kid or the most experienced player,

6:46:15 > 6:46:17then as a team you'll get some results.

6:46:17 > 6:46:21If you want to compete against those big four or five clubs,

6:46:21 > 6:46:23you really need to focus

6:46:23 > 6:46:26- on that individual improvement. - Yeah, definitely.

6:46:29 > 6:46:35Jon, as a Hull lad, do you think they have a little bit to learn about the Hull derby?

6:46:35 > 6:46:37I'm sure they'll find out very soon

6:46:37 > 6:46:39about how important it is to the people of area.

6:46:39 > 6:46:42It's everything that a derby should be.

6:46:42 > 6:46:47You know, it's fiercely competitive and the rivalry exists in the city,

6:46:47 > 6:46:49pretty much divided by the River Hull.

6:46:49 > 6:46:52It's as strong today as it ever has been.

6:46:52 > 6:46:56Pat, Hull FC went to play Catalan Dragons, and that game was off.

6:46:56 > 6:46:59Somewhat ironic that all the games here managed to go on.

6:46:59 > 6:47:01In the South of France we couldn't.

6:47:01 > 6:47:03It's not a trip you want to do twice, is it?

6:47:03 > 6:47:06Yeah, it'll be an interesting one to get rearranged.

6:47:06 > 6:47:10We had one last year against Cas, but they're only an hour away.

6:47:10 > 6:47:14So it wasn't too bad. I feel sorry for all the fans that went over.

6:47:14 > 6:47:17They'll have to go over again. I'm not sure how that'll work.

6:47:17 > 6:47:19It'll be interesting to see how they fit it in.

6:47:19 > 6:47:24Hull KR went to Wakefield on Sunday, a first win for Craig Sandercock.

6:47:24 > 6:47:27Important for the new coach, Pat, to get that first win.

6:47:27 > 6:47:32Yeah, it was. We played them in a trial match a couple of weeks ago

6:47:32 > 6:47:35and I think he's done a great job with the team.

6:47:35 > 6:47:37I was speaking to Benny Galea.

6:47:37 > 6:47:40He's happy with how things are going there.

6:47:40 > 6:47:42They're looking forward to it

6:47:42 > 6:47:45and this will give them confidence going into the season now,

6:47:45 > 6:47:48so hopefully they'll kick on and start the season well.

6:47:48 > 6:47:51Looking at the pictures, they did a great job to get the game on,

6:47:51 > 6:47:55but it's like winding back the clock to winter rugby in all its glory.

6:47:55 > 6:47:58Yeah, it is. I think everyone would prefer to see

6:47:58 > 6:48:02the game played in great conditions, but this time of the year

6:48:02 > 6:48:06it's very rare that you get to play on a good surface.

6:48:06 > 6:48:08I think both sides did well in the conditions.

6:48:08 > 6:48:13Crucially, more so for us, going in to this week's game,

6:48:13 > 6:48:19is that Hull KR picked up another injury in the halfs with Dobson.

6:48:19 > 6:48:21I think he's crucial for Hull KR.

6:48:21 > 6:48:25His kicking game, his organisation, is second to none.

6:48:25 > 6:48:28Without him and Green, that's the challenge for Hull KR,

6:48:28 > 6:48:30coming up with players who can play in that position.

6:48:30 > 6:48:34The other Sunday game was Castleford against Bradford

6:48:34 > 6:48:37and a big win for Mick Potter and Bradford.

6:48:37 > 6:48:40Yeah, massive. They're under a bit of pressure.

6:48:40 > 6:48:44One game in, it seems strange to say that,

6:48:44 > 6:48:49but I suppose they have produced a great performance to get the win.

6:48:49 > 6:48:54I think they're going to be a side that's one to watch, for me.

6:48:54 > 6:48:58They'll certainly have aspirations to make those play-offs.

6:48:58 > 6:49:02Both these sides will. But it was a difficult day for Castleford

6:49:02 > 6:49:05who'd have expected to win this game at home.

6:49:05 > 6:49:09Castleford are a real flair side, they play some lovely stuff,

6:49:09 > 6:49:13but how crucial Rangi Chase to them? It seems so much goes through him.

6:49:13 > 6:49:17Rangi's the spark to their team and a lot of stuff happens off him.

6:49:17 > 6:49:21They've got other quality players in their side as well.

6:49:21 > 6:49:25Rangi sets up a great try here coming up.

6:49:25 > 6:49:27We've got them in a couple of weeks...

6:49:27 > 6:49:30This is beautiful. That try's fabulous, isn't it?

6:49:30 > 6:49:34It's great to watch him and it'll bring the fans in to the game.

6:49:34 > 6:49:37Especially this time of year, the skill factor,

6:49:37 > 6:49:41it's hard to play with skill, with the ball being so wet and cold,

6:49:41 > 6:49:45- but Rangi's doing a good job.- So, that's Round Two, done and dusted.

6:49:45 > 6:49:50Let's see where everyone stands in the Stobart Super League table.

6:49:54 > 6:49:57Huddersfield and St Helens lead the way with their 100% records

6:49:57 > 6:49:58after two fixtures.

6:49:58 > 6:50:02Warrington, Catalan and Hull are the other unbeaten sides.

6:50:02 > 6:50:07Leeds Rhinos take on Manly in the World Club Challenge on Friday.

6:50:07 > 6:50:12Warrington against Huddersfield is the stand-out fixture of round 3.

6:50:12 > 6:50:13Wigan go to Bradford

6:50:13 > 6:50:16and St Helens travel to Hull KR.

6:50:16 > 6:50:20Remember, you don't have to wait until the fixtures move in May

6:50:20 > 6:50:22to get a Monday night fix of rugby league.

6:50:22 > 6:50:27We'll be here, same time next week, with all the action from Round 3.

6:50:27 > 6:50:31Pat, how do you see the World Club Challenge going?

6:50:31 > 6:50:34Yeah, it's always a tough sort of game.

6:50:34 > 6:50:36Last year was a tough game against St George.

6:50:36 > 6:50:40Leeds have been involved in a few in the last couple of years.

6:50:40 > 6:50:43You know, I'm not too sure how, er...you know,

6:50:43 > 6:50:46cos the season starts a bit later in Australia,

6:50:46 > 6:50:50but how the Australians adapt to the conditions over here as well.

6:50:50 > 6:50:52So I think it'll be pretty tight.

6:50:52 > 6:50:55It should be a good game I'm looking forward to it.

6:50:55 > 6:50:58Jon, the new players' association.

6:50:58 > 6:51:00A new union. What's the thinking behind it?

6:51:00 > 6:51:02What do you hope to achieve?

6:51:02 > 6:51:04We just wanted to start an organisation

6:51:04 > 6:51:07that was for the players, run by the players,

6:51:07 > 6:51:10to represent their welfare at all levels of the game.

6:51:10 > 6:51:15And really give the players a voice and make them an integral part of the growth of the sport.

6:51:15 > 6:51:18The players have great ideas on the game

6:51:18 > 6:51:23and some of the senior boys certainly want to be involved in the growth of the game.

6:51:23 > 6:51:26League 13, as it stands now, gives the players a chance to do that,

6:51:26 > 6:51:29to voice their opinions and have them heard

6:51:29 > 6:51:32by other key stakeholders in the game. And just encourage all the boys

6:51:32 > 6:51:37to get on board and support it and get behind it and make it work.

6:51:37 > 6:51:40Good luck with it. Thanks to Pat Richards and Jon Wilkin
