:00:29. > :00:35.Hello. Super League will be ending this week at the home of the Premier

:00:36. > :00:38.League champions. But tonight, we'll start the week with the latest twist

:00:39. > :00:41.and turns in the race for Rugby League's greatest prize. It's been

:00:42. > :00:49.heavy going in some wretched weather. Here's what's coming up.

:00:50. > :00:54.Catch us if you can. Leeds are looking to stay ahead of the pack.

:00:55. > :01:01.The Rhinos are at Castleford. The Dragons drop in on Warrington.

:01:02. > :01:06.Was it a fifth win in a row for the French?

:01:07. > :01:07.And down on the beach. We are out for a stroll with Super League's

:01:08. > :01:18.record`breaking Saint Paul Wellens. Josh Hodgson and Jon Wilkin have

:01:19. > :01:22.arrived from opposite ends of the M62. They've met in the middle to

:01:23. > :01:28.give us some forward thinking on Round 12. We're a dozen rounds into

:01:29. > :01:30.the Super League season. And the opening fixture of the week was

:01:31. > :01:31.third`placed Castleford against table`topping Leeds. Your

:01:32. > :01:39.commentator is Dave Woods. It is a fantastic atmosphere inside

:01:40. > :01:45.the stadium tonight and another test of Leeds' recent impressive form.

:01:46. > :01:51.Castleford fans no doubt would have starred this fixture before the

:01:52. > :01:57.season began. But given the form they are in, they will be absolutely

:01:58. > :02:02.relishing it. Castleford look for the first points of the night here.

:02:03. > :02:08.Inside these opening ten minutes, Milner with a pass. And he's picked

:02:09. > :02:15.out Kirk Dixon on that right`hand side. Castleford have the opener.

:02:16. > :02:23.Smart play from Milner. And a gap found by Dixon.

:02:24. > :02:31.As they begin to look left, Mariano is crashed to the floor. Going to

:02:32. > :02:34.get a penalty here. A little bit too much messing about from Mitch

:02:35. > :02:43.Achurch. And it is in a very kickable position. He was simply all

:02:44. > :02:47.over him. This rather idiosyncratic kicking style that Marc Sneyd has.

:02:48. > :02:54.Just as effective as ever. Castleford lead by 8`0.

:02:55. > :03:03.Clarkson, at dummy half. A real surge by Ablett. Some team`mates

:03:04. > :03:09.hanging on. The struggle continues. Ablett is eventually put down.

:03:10. > :03:19.Clarkson again. Leeds, with Hardaker in the line here. And Watkins with a

:03:20. > :03:23.wonderful pass. Ben Jones`Bishop grabs his opportunity again.

:03:24. > :03:32.Discussion here and they will have to look at it one more time before

:03:33. > :03:37.Ben Jones`Bishop gets this. Was there an obstruction in the

:03:38. > :03:45.build`up? No problem seen as yet. Terrific hands for Watkins again.

:03:46. > :03:46.The decision is... Try. So Ben Jones`Bishop with a rare

:03:47. > :04:01.outing. A try to his name again. Hardaker offering it back on the

:04:02. > :04:07.inside to Joel Moon. Moon is asking a few questions here. Leeds trying

:04:08. > :04:16.to ramp it up. Sinfield. Stepped too much by Sutcliffe. That saw him lose

:04:17. > :04:23.his feet, and Sinfield again. Kallum Watkins! Athletically over again.

:04:24. > :04:31.Castleford 's defence unable to control his sheer progress. `` sheer

:04:32. > :04:42.prowess. But they are looking at the video ref again here. Was Michael

:04:43. > :04:48.Shenton obstructed there? No doubts once it got to Watkins' hands that

:04:49. > :04:50.that was a try all over. Kallum Watkins, either creating tries or

:04:51. > :05:01.scoring them. He is in exceptional form this season! Millington back on

:05:02. > :05:05.the inside for Craig Huby. Four substitutions that Castleford have

:05:06. > :05:09.made here to try to stem the tide that has been going against them.

:05:10. > :05:18.And looking to set up position. And Sneyd is in! Marc Sneyd, just before

:05:19. > :05:23.the break. Boy, did they need that? And if he kicks the goal, they will

:05:24. > :05:26.have the lead. No wonder there is a bit of a celebration on. Castleford

:05:27. > :05:34.will poke their noses ahead when the half`time hooter sounds.

:05:35. > :05:41.Sinfield, Rolling into dummy half again. It is basic good, solid,

:05:42. > :05:47.professional stuff from Leeds at the moment. The high kick the question.

:05:48. > :05:51.Taken by Hardaker. Taken with the top from Watkins and a second try

:05:52. > :06:01.from Ben Jones`Bishop! Leeds have the lead again. McGuire 's kick.

:06:02. > :06:05.Asking the questions. Shenton not able to get there. It was Hardaker

:06:06. > :06:08.who got the hand to it and caught him himself. And over the top for

:06:09. > :06:18.Watkins to create the space for Ben Jones`Bishop to finish.

:06:19. > :06:27.A couple of tackles gone. Four to come. And they are deep enough

:06:28. > :06:37.inside the Castleford half here. Peacock laying it back again. On to

:06:38. > :06:42.Watkins, and has Kallum Watkins got there? I think he has. The referee

:06:43. > :06:48.is asking both touch judges. And then gives the try. What an example

:06:49. > :06:55.of his sheer strength and determination, Kallum Watkins. It

:06:56. > :07:00.looked for all the world that he had been held up. McGuire and Sutcliffe

:07:01. > :07:08.involved. Opening up that Castleford defence. Watkins, short and a reach

:07:09. > :07:13.and reach and just get there! `` gets there. Leeds in control.

:07:14. > :07:18.Despite the scoreline, Brian McDermott said afterwards that was

:07:19. > :07:21.the toughest game that Leeds have had this season. What did you make

:07:22. > :07:26.of it? It is a tough place to go. Castleford played the pitch well. It

:07:27. > :07:29.tends to be a shorter pitch than most grounds in the Super League.

:07:30. > :07:34.Castleford are flying this year. They seem to be a tight`knit bunch.

:07:35. > :07:37.They have bought into the coach's new system and the way they are

:07:38. > :07:40.playing. They seem to be working hard for each other. They have

:07:41. > :07:44.surprised a few teams at the start of the season. I am not shocked at

:07:45. > :07:49.all by that being the toughest game for Leeds. Saints still the only

:07:50. > :07:53.team to have beaten Leeds. They are on quite a run? Yeah, doing really

:07:54. > :07:58.well. If you look at standout performance in that game. Kallum

:07:59. > :08:02.Watkins was outstanding. I think he has an international standard. The

:08:03. > :08:07.best this country has produced for some years. Really dangerous with

:08:08. > :08:10.the ball. And from the game, Castleford are a difficult team to

:08:11. > :08:14.play at home for the reasons Josh mentioned. That small field. A lot

:08:15. > :08:16.of front rowers who can move the ball. Like to pass the ball and

:08:17. > :08:21.challenge you defensively. Certainly, I think they challenged

:08:22. > :08:24.Leeds. But they ran out of steam. You never know whether that short

:08:25. > :08:28.turnaround building up to the game was a factor. But a great quality

:08:29. > :08:34.game. I thought it was very entertaining to watch. Both sides

:08:35. > :08:40.great defensively. Two tries apiece for Watkins and Ben Jones`Bishop.

:08:41. > :08:43.Then he announced he is leaving Leeds this season. Are you

:08:44. > :08:47.surprised? Personally, no, not really surprised. He is a quality

:08:48. > :08:51.player. And somebody of his calibre, I would expect him to be playing

:08:52. > :08:55.every week. And if he is not, it is probably time to go elsewhere. I

:08:56. > :08:58.think that is a good decision by him on a personal level. Leeds' outside

:08:59. > :09:01.backs have been flying all year. Probably the best outside backs in

:09:02. > :09:07.the league. And some really good form. And great wingers waiting to

:09:08. > :09:15.play outside. Watkins and Moon, two fantastic centres. But for players,

:09:16. > :09:19.and when you are in a salary capped sport, some players need to move on

:09:20. > :09:22.to play games. And Ben Jones`Bishop is one of those. He needs to be

:09:23. > :09:26.playing games. I am sure he will have aspirations to get back in the

:09:27. > :09:30.England setup if he plays a lot of Super League. You guess they will be

:09:31. > :09:33.queuing up to sign him as well. A very talented man and can play

:09:34. > :09:37.fullback as well. And an athletic guy like that, who is quite astute

:09:38. > :09:40.with position, is a commodity. A lot of clubs will be in the market for

:09:41. > :09:43.him. One thing that Daryl Powell talked about afterwards, we talked

:09:44. > :09:46.about it last week, was obstruction. Are we all getting a bit caught up

:09:47. > :09:51.in the whole obstruction thing? I think you are spot on. As players,

:09:52. > :09:55.there is a genuine obstruction, impeded as a defender. And then, the

:09:56. > :09:59.other obstructions which really a defendant is not impeded. It is just

:10:00. > :10:03.the style of attacking play that all teams play. So one thing is the

:10:04. > :10:10.players are very smart. We have cottoned onto it. I think you find

:10:11. > :10:15.players are appealing when a try is scored. Are you seeing that now?

:10:16. > :10:19.Yes, and as Jon says, if you can see if a player has been knocked all the

:10:20. > :10:23.way and that has forced him not being able to make the tackle. If

:10:24. > :10:27.the player in the game has checked that defender and got off to the man

:10:28. > :10:30.at the back, that is the one we talk about being obstructed. If he has

:10:31. > :10:33.done that and missed the tackle, I do not see that as obstruction. And

:10:34. > :10:37.you might have to trawl through hours of footage. And a lot of tries

:10:38. > :10:41.that would not be allowed. We score some great tries through that shape,

:10:42. > :10:45.though I think leave it as it is. It is a bit of common sense as well.

:10:46. > :10:49.It's been fortress Widnes for the Vikings this season. They were

:10:50. > :10:52.defending a 100% home record on Friday night, when the Wakefield

:10:53. > :10:55.Trinity Wildcats were in town. It's ten years since Widnes enjoyed

:10:56. > :10:58.a home victory over Wakefield. And the Vikings were behind after just

:10:59. > :11:02.eight minutes on this one. Commentary from James Deighton of

:11:03. > :11:07.BBC Radio Leeds. Widnes, five metres out on last

:11:08. > :11:15.tackle. Losing the ball, Wakefield seize on it. Sammut has a foot race,

:11:16. > :11:19.60 metres to go. It looks like he is falling down all the time. Will he

:11:20. > :11:22.give it to Riley or go all the way? Gives it to Riley and Riley

:11:23. > :11:23.finishing it off for Wakefield. Right in front of the Wakefield

:11:24. > :11:38.fans. ?? YELLOW Wow! Five metres out, Wakefield. Tackles

:11:39. > :11:41.in the bank here for the Wildcats as Richard Moore runs across the line.

:11:42. > :11:45.What a try from Richard Moore! He just went through the Widnes

:11:46. > :11:54.tacklers. All the way to the try`line! The Vikings are just

:11:55. > :12:01.inside the Wakefield 20. Hulme dives on the left side. Widnes just with

:12:02. > :12:08.the numbers, Hulme found the space. Inside the ten, Widnes going down

:12:09. > :12:17.the right side. Flynn scored the try on the far corner.

:12:18. > :12:22.On the Wakefield try`line, and through there. Has he got it down?

:12:23. > :12:34.Ben Thaler says he has. Getting the pass away to Anderson.

:12:35. > :12:37.His second involvement in this. Taken inside the ten. Have they got

:12:38. > :12:44.numbers to the right`hand side, Wakefield? Siejka went himself. Did

:12:45. > :12:51.he get it over? Ben Thaler takes a look. Gives the try! Harry Siejka

:12:52. > :12:57.drives Wakefield back! Anderson back on for the Wildcats. Ten metres out,

:12:58. > :13:08.do they go in early for the drop goal? He scores! And wins it for the

:13:09. > :13:27.Wakefield Trinity Wildcats! What a finish!

:13:28. > :13:34.I think that is a massive boost for them. Two weeks ago, they were four

:13:35. > :13:38.points in front of Bradford and hoping that Bradford's appeal for

:13:39. > :13:42.their points back did not go through. The last few weeks, the

:13:43. > :13:46.wins will be a massive psychological boost. That try, you could see

:13:47. > :13:50.Widnes expecting the drop goal. Yes, they fly up the line as you would

:13:51. > :13:53.hope they would do. They put pressure on the guys. He's an

:13:54. > :13:57.instinctive player, passing side to side. A great try, a fantastic

:13:58. > :14:03.celebration. That shows you how much it means. A great win. It says a lot

:14:04. > :14:07.about the spirit in the team because a couple of years ago, Richard Agar

:14:08. > :14:12.had to bring a team together from scratch and they got that gypsy

:14:13. > :14:16.spirit in them, as they call it. Yes, they have got some spirit

:14:17. > :14:19.there. They need to start winning games consistently at home. When

:14:20. > :14:26.they do that, Wakefield tend to well. This season, we have two sides

:14:27. > :14:29.that are going down and it is becoming very real all of a sudden.

:14:30. > :14:33.We start talking about the points difference and Bradford being eight

:14:34. > :14:37.points adrift now. The pressure really starts to build. Yes, and as

:14:38. > :14:40.you said, this season flies by and Wakefield have an eight`point

:14:41. > :14:45.advantage, it will relax a bit more and start to concentrate on playing

:14:46. > :14:49.well as opposed to thinking where they are in the league table. For

:14:50. > :14:52.Widnes, the homework has been so key, how how much will it hurt to

:14:53. > :14:56.have lost that 100% record? I think the form they have been in they

:14:57. > :14:59.would be expecting to beat Wakefield. But they are a great team

:15:00. > :15:06.as we found out last week. They came to us and managed to pinch it in the

:15:07. > :15:17.dying minutes. Wakefield left Bradford eight points away from

:15:18. > :15:23.safety at the foot of the table. The Bulls were at home on Sunday. There

:15:24. > :15:26.was a great start for you and the team. Yes, a long, free`flowing try

:15:27. > :15:31.from myself, a trademark two metre fall over the line. They all count.

:15:32. > :15:37.I think we were very pleased with how it had gone. We wanted to put a

:15:38. > :15:41.good performance in, score some points, play some football. And that

:15:42. > :15:45.is what we did. Off the back of that, we have had a real focus on

:15:46. > :15:52.improving our defence and to Neil Bradford was very pleasing. We

:15:53. > :15:55.scored some great tries. Johnny Lomax, whenever we play well, Johnny

:15:56. > :16:08.Lomax, James Robbie, they are always pivotal. Usually I come in here and

:16:09. > :16:12.I've dropped the ball, so it is nice to come in here and have scored a

:16:13. > :16:17.couple of tries. For Bradford, they started all right, but had they got

:16:18. > :16:22.an early try, they might have given you a better fight? Yes, I think

:16:23. > :16:25.Bradford struggled throughout this game, I don't think they played well

:16:26. > :16:29.and we did play well. It's difficult for Bradford at the moment, they

:16:30. > :16:33.have had such a difficult period. The last few years have been very

:16:34. > :16:39.difficult. I think the players deserve a lot of credit. But they

:16:40. > :16:42.need to start getting some results and improving their performances.

:16:43. > :16:47.From our perspective, I thought we did very well. When we play well,

:16:48. > :16:52.Jimmy Rodham plays well. Can you say much about St Helens form? You can

:16:53. > :16:56.only play the teams in front of you. We have played London and Bradford

:16:57. > :17:01.down at the foot of the table. We have done that, we have scored some

:17:02. > :17:08.points. For and against. Not only that, we have defended pretty well

:17:09. > :17:17.during both of those games. The big games are so different. We certainly

:17:18. > :17:20.look to build on that. We have a big game this week against Warrington.

:17:21. > :17:24.For Bradford, hopes were high because they had the back`to`back

:17:25. > :17:28.wins. How do you pick yourselves up after that? You have to dust

:17:29. > :17:34.yourselves down after a game like that. It was a pretty big scoreline.

:17:35. > :17:38.You have to put it down to a bad day at the office and try and go again.

:17:39. > :17:42.You can't get too caught up with things. Full credit to St Helens. It

:17:43. > :17:46.is a sign of a good team to be that far up. It is a great trait to have

:17:47. > :17:51.in the team. Paul Wellens was back on the field

:17:52. > :17:54.for St Helens. It was match number 417 of his Super League life, a

:17:55. > :18:13.record number of appearances matched only by Kevin Sinfield. We caught up

:18:14. > :18:25.Does reaching a landmark matter to you? It doesn't matter in terms of,

:18:26. > :18:27.it's not something I focus on. But when you get there and you reach

:18:28. > :18:34.those milestones, it's something I am proud of. What makes it special

:18:35. > :18:37.is the company you are in. Keith Senior, Kevin Sinfield, Jamie

:18:38. > :18:51.Peacock, certainly in good company there. All players I get on with

:18:52. > :18:55.really well. I have a huge amount of respect for them. Nathan Brown has

:18:56. > :18:56.made a point that you have reached this landmark in a good team. You

:18:57. > :18:59.have to keep that performance regularly high. From my perspective,

:19:00. > :19:04.that has helped me. Playing for my hometown team, I still really enjoy

:19:05. > :19:08.what I am doing. To be able to play so many games, you have to enjoy it,

:19:09. > :19:12.to get up every weekend go to training and perform your best at

:19:13. > :19:16.the weekend. I have been fortunate to stay with my own town club. On

:19:17. > :19:22.the way, you need luck with injuries, which I have had a fair

:19:23. > :19:25.bit of luck with injuries. I think those two things coupled together

:19:26. > :19:30.enable you to reach these landmarks. Does it get tougher as you get

:19:31. > :19:42.older? From the mental side of things, I think it has got easier. I

:19:43. > :19:47.know what's expected of me, I don't stress about things as much as I did

:19:48. > :19:50.this when I was younger. I think I'm more comfortable in the environment.

:19:51. > :19:53.I know what is expected of me. Older players say that you only actually

:19:54. > :19:58.understanding rugby league just when you are about to retire, are you

:19:59. > :20:01.finding that? You are understanding things more on the field than you

:20:02. > :20:06.would have done 5`10 years ago? Certainly. Experience is learning.

:20:07. > :20:11.Year`on`year, you build your knowledge base. I am in my 17th

:20:12. > :20:17.season now so I have been quite well`educated and played with some

:20:18. > :20:27.great coaches along the way. Even more so in the last 12`18 months.

:20:28. > :20:30.The change of position I have had, I have experienced a good number of

:20:31. > :20:35.roles which has given me a good understanding and perspective of the

:20:36. > :20:44.job and demands of other players. What a finish. Absolutely

:20:45. > :20:56.sensational. Wellens with a run here. The old man has still got it.

:20:57. > :20:59.You were part of a generation that came through, how do you rate this

:21:00. > :21:02.current crop of young players? I am like everyone else, really excited.

:21:03. > :21:05.The potential these guys have is huge. What else is great about them

:21:06. > :21:08.is they are really good kids, very grounded, they work hard for each

:21:09. > :21:13.other. These young players certainly have the potential to go a long way

:21:14. > :21:21.in the game. Hopefully, I will be able to stand by and watch them do

:21:22. > :21:25.that. And look back in 10`15 years, they will be in a similar position

:21:26. > :21:29.to me having played a long time for the club. How long can you carry on,

:21:30. > :21:35.before you finally say that's it? I don't know. What I've done the last

:21:36. > :21:40.few years is take it one year at a time. I've got a great relationship

:21:41. > :21:43.with the chairman of the club. We sit down for contract negotiations

:21:44. > :21:46.which never take more than 5`10 minutes over a cup of tea. I will

:21:47. > :21:50.have a similar conversation with him again midway through the season but

:21:51. > :21:54.a lot will depend on how the body is, whether there are any injuries

:21:55. > :21:58.and a few different things. Also sit down with the family and discuss

:21:59. > :22:03.things. I am in no real kind of rush to make a decision. It's a great

:22:04. > :22:08.club and I don't feel under any pressure to make a decision.

:22:09. > :22:15.John, you played with him for many years, what has made such a special

:22:16. > :22:19.player? I think the biggest skill that Paul has as a person is his

:22:20. > :22:28.ability to read people and relate to people. One key thing he mentioned

:22:29. > :22:31.is the reason you become a great leader is empathy. He understands

:22:32. > :22:37.the demands of the positions within the team now. He has certainly got a

:22:38. > :22:42.broader understanding due to playing several different roles. But Paul

:22:43. > :22:49.was a really friendly face at a time when I moved to St Helens. He

:22:50. > :22:56.commandeered me at that point to essentially be his brew slave for

:22:57. > :23:01.the next 11 years. I've made him around 3,500 cups of tea. You did

:23:02. > :23:05.think he had nicked your jacket? We have had an ongoing thing in clothes

:23:06. > :23:09.theft. He's got my jeans, I've got jackets, all sorts going on. He has

:23:10. > :23:15.only got one belt and he wears my belt still to this day. That is

:23:16. > :23:18.something we didn't know about him. As somebody who plays against him,

:23:19. > :23:21.what had been his particular traits? You have to have a massive respect

:23:22. > :23:24.for somebody who has played that many games at such a high standard

:23:25. > :23:31.and never having dropped. His game has never dropped. He has played

:23:32. > :23:35.tough and done a great job wherever he has played on the park. For

:23:36. > :23:39.somebody to play 400`odd games and still to be going strong, it is a

:23:40. > :23:43.massive thing. Would you like to see him go around again next season?

:23:44. > :23:47.Yes, just to get some brews back in my favour. Will you get your belt

:23:48. > :23:53.back? No, that's gone, written that off, three month rule. One thing

:23:54. > :23:58.about Paul is he is a fantastic leader. He has been a great player

:23:59. > :24:04.because he really cares about his trade, his profession. In any walk

:24:05. > :24:07.of life, the people who genuinely care what they do seem to achieve

:24:08. > :24:10.great results and that is what Paul has done.

:24:11. > :24:21.There is another big derby looming for Hull Kingston Rovers. They were

:24:22. > :24:23.getting ready for magic weekend in Salford on Saturday night, but awful

:24:24. > :24:27.conditions. How difficult did it make the game? It made the game very

:24:28. > :24:30.scrappy, it was a scrappy start, a lot of dropped balls. But conditions

:24:31. > :24:45.were the same for both sides. We didn't start well. And our start was

:24:46. > :24:49.going to be massive against Salford. They were looking for a result. It

:24:50. > :24:51.was a big week and it was always going to be a middle game. The

:24:52. > :24:54.conditions affect the game massively. Yes, especially a team

:24:55. > :24:57.like ourselves and like Salford even more so when you have such quick

:24:58. > :25:01.outside backs and skilful halfbacks. When it's a wet day, it's not the

:25:02. > :25:05.type of day for the slick passes and the fancy plays. It is old school

:25:06. > :25:12.rugby. And that is exactly what it was.

:25:13. > :25:17.We have got a replay of this. Your coach felt Meli was out. Yes, Craig

:25:18. > :25:20.thought it was out. I think the game is crying out for a video ref at

:25:21. > :25:26.every game. A few different camera angles. The game needs to find the

:25:27. > :25:29.resources for that. If that was out, what did he say afterwards? He said

:25:30. > :25:35.he got this one, and another one that did not get given. I'm biased,

:25:36. > :25:38.but I saw it go down. As John said, if you have more cameras there,

:25:39. > :25:42.there is a better chance of getting a definitive answer whether it is or

:25:43. > :25:50.is not a try. Rather than the ref going to a 50`50 decision. By the

:25:51. > :25:54.end, did you feel it was a game that got away, or a fair result? I think

:25:55. > :25:58.both teams will feel it is a game that got away from them. The game

:25:59. > :26:04.tended to toss and turn from both sides. Both teams taking momentum.

:26:05. > :26:09.There was a stage where we were defending on our own line. How do

:26:10. > :26:13.you feel now about 12 games into the season? The start was what made this

:26:14. > :26:17.season such a hard start for us. I think we picked up one point in the

:26:18. > :26:20.first five games. We picked up a couple of good wins after that, but

:26:21. > :26:24.consistency is what is needed. We have had a lot of injuries, people

:26:25. > :26:30.coming in and out of the teams, but that is the same for everyone. I

:26:31. > :26:34.think consistency now, building towards the big games at the back

:26:35. > :26:39.end of the year is crucial. A lot of teams are searching for that

:26:40. > :26:44.consistency. Looking to build some form going into the big games. Form

:26:45. > :26:48.at the start of year is great, gets you the headlines, gets you talked

:26:49. > :26:52.about, but I know as well as anybody that what counts is your form at the

:26:53. > :26:56.end of the season and that is what all these sides are hoping to

:26:57. > :26:59.achieve in the coming months. Michael Dobson, such a key player

:27:00. > :27:03.for you for so long. Was there a feeling of getting a different way

:27:04. > :27:07.of playing with him gone? No, I think the same structure has got to

:27:08. > :27:11.stay in place. That is a sign of a good team, you know what you do and

:27:12. > :27:15.do it well, not change too much. If you look at the top teams, they pick

:27:16. > :27:19.a few players and stick to them and run them really well. And that is

:27:20. > :27:23.what we had to do and what we have stuck with. There will be a bit of

:27:24. > :27:31.disruption there, but Salford have a basically had a brand`new squad. And

:27:32. > :27:45.that is going to take a lot of time. It will not come together quickly.

:27:46. > :27:51.What other targets for you? It is week in, week out, and consistency

:27:52. > :27:56.will be massive. Wigan have one on the last five visits to the KC

:27:57. > :28:06.Stadium and relating to make it six in a row, and some strength in

:28:07. > :28:08.depth. I did not think there is another team in Super League showing

:28:09. > :28:21.greater consistency than Wigan. If you pressed the peat `` pressed

:28:22. > :28:30.repeat every week, and their attention to detail and ability to

:28:31. > :28:35.execute players is second to none. The way that the shape of Wigan is

:28:36. > :28:39.set up, it means that the fullback, almost the last player will be

:28:40. > :28:46.heavily involved. And scoring a lot of points. Dan Sarginson doing well.

:28:47. > :28:51.Rather disappointing for Hull FC to concede that many points, and maybe

:28:52. > :28:58.the manner in which the dead. Really a disappointing night. As Michael in

:28:59. > :29:03.which the dead. They need something to start their season. With seven

:29:04. > :29:11.players out, it was really impressive. It is, and when we speak

:29:12. > :29:17.about teams being a well oiled machine, that is what Wigan are. The

:29:18. > :29:22.players know where they need to be, and that is the sign of a good

:29:23. > :29:26.player, sticking to what you do. They had seven players who usually

:29:27. > :29:32.would be playing the first team I stop and the kids that came in that

:29:33. > :29:36.a good job and managed to get that at a tough place to go. It is a

:29:37. > :29:39.tough place to go. That is what makes it more exciting. Talk us

:29:40. > :29:45.through this next try. This is a classic Wigan try. Classic Wigan

:29:46. > :29:49.shape. Matty Smith, out back to Blake Green. Then the full black,

:29:50. > :29:52.which is usually Bowie, and Tompkins previously. A long ball to the

:29:53. > :29:56.winger, try in the corner. That was Josh Charnley when he scored a lot

:29:57. > :29:59.of tries. That was the reason, the shape set up to create numbers and

:30:00. > :30:02.space on the outside. And they have players who can take advantage of

:30:03. > :30:06.that. Gelling always seems to do well there. But he struggles to get

:30:07. > :30:09.a start. Week to week, that shows you their strength. But for Lee

:30:10. > :30:16.Radford, tries like this would be disappointing. Yeah, I think Lee

:30:17. > :30:19.will be really disappointed. Especially with the last two tries

:30:20. > :30:23.we had seen. I think there were three from dummy half and one from

:30:24. > :30:26.outside the 20 metre line. He will be disappointed with that. Do you

:30:27. > :30:28.look at their last two games? He said they were in a horrible rut,

:30:29. > :30:34.like a wounded animal. Or do you look at and think, no, the

:30:35. > :30:37.Hull Derby, it's just a completely different game? It is. It is a

:30:38. > :30:41.completely different ball game. We're not going to think much about

:30:42. > :30:45.how we'll been playing in last two weeks. I am sure they would like

:30:46. > :30:49.nothing more than to get a derby victory and hit a run of form in the

:30:50. > :30:52.next few games. We will not be looking at the past two weeks at

:30:53. > :30:55.all. When you are losing, you overanalyse things. And when you are

:30:56. > :30:59.winning, you tend to not analyse as much. You all want to be somewhere

:31:00. > :31:03.in the middle. That is where Leeds are trying to get to. Perfect timing

:31:04. > :31:05.to have the derby game coming up. We shall see if it is. It is perfect

:31:06. > :31:10.timing. There was only points difference

:31:11. > :31:12.separating Warrington and Catalan in the table before their meeting on

:31:13. > :31:15.Friday. The Dragons have been climbing up the ladder and were

:31:16. > :31:18.looking for a fifth straight victory. Dave Woods was watching.

:31:19. > :31:22.By both sides' high standards, it has been a disappointing season so

:31:23. > :31:26.far. Catalan showing some signs of improvement of late but still only

:31:27. > :31:29.one away win for them in the Super League. Warrington's nadir possibly

:31:30. > :31:37.coming last week when they were beaten at bottom club Bradford. They

:31:38. > :31:44.need consistency. Warrington looking to make the

:31:45. > :31:49.inroads if they can. Turn and off`load from England. Ratchford has

:31:50. > :31:56.the pace to go through. Chip over the top has them scampering. Ormesby

:31:57. > :32:03.collecting and still going. Michael Monaghan quickly there at dummy

:32:04. > :32:09.half. And there are so much space for Joel Monaghan. His 100th

:32:10. > :32:13.appearance for Warrington. And his 100th try in the primrose and blue.

:32:14. > :32:19.And when it came, it was a simple finish.

:32:20. > :32:38.The Catalan defence happy to watch and see. A big drive. Hill taking

:32:39. > :32:45.them close. He wanted to off`load, but had to keep hold. The ball has

:32:46. > :32:49.gone to ground. England claims it. The referee wants a second opinion.

:32:50. > :32:52.How did this get into the hands of Anthony England? The pass from

:32:53. > :33:00.Monaghan simply hit a Catalan player. This should be a try. It is

:33:01. > :33:01.a second try of the night for the Warrington Wolves. And the second in

:33:02. > :33:20.five minutes. A little flick away to keep this

:33:21. > :33:31.movement alive. Russell has the gold. And Joel Monaghan getting his

:33:32. > :33:39.second of the night. Try 101. And it was to reflect Warrington moved. ``

:33:40. > :33:44.it was a terrific Warrington moved. All started with the dynamism of

:33:45. > :33:51.Matthew Russell. With the off`load and the PAs and the invention to get

:33:52. > :33:56.on the outside of Duport. And fabulous support and moustache from

:33:57. > :34:04.Ormesby. And Joel Monaghan with a fantastic finish. They give high

:34:05. > :34:21.looking to scripted away from dummy half. `` Micky Higham. And a step,

:34:22. > :34:29.reach and try, the fourth of the first half from Warrington. Lovely

:34:30. > :34:29.playing from Stefan Ratchford, and Warrington looking good at

:34:30. > :34:41.half`time. A charge down here and back in the

:34:42. > :34:50.hands of Warrington. And Chris Bridge scampers away. They have been

:34:51. > :34:53.playing barely two minutes of their second`half and Warrington already

:34:54. > :35:00.back in the ascendancy. Catalan hoping to muster some fight back.

:35:01. > :35:05.This is not the way to go back. The kick from William Barthau easily

:35:06. > :35:13.charge down. And the chance for Bridge. The coaching staff looking

:35:14. > :35:19.on and a lot to worry about. And a terrific break, and it is making

:35:20. > :35:30.higher am going and only the sticks `` and it is Micky Higham and the

:35:31. > :35:34.biggest of grins, Warrington rampaging directory. Two tries in

:35:35. > :35:47.the second half and by many more to come? The latest from Micky Higham.

:35:48. > :35:58.Joel Monaghan has lost that, and the referee says it was stolen, so it

:35:59. > :36:04.will be a penalty. James Laithwaite pushes, or bug, did he get it down?

:36:05. > :36:08.Yes, James Laithwaite's first Warrington drive. He will be

:36:09. > :36:16.celebrating long and hard. Warrington with yet another. ``

:36:17. > :36:21.first Warrington try. A moment to remember for the young James

:36:22. > :36:30.Laithwaite, the night of his first try. Catalan doing well to get

:36:31. > :36:36.themselves there. Vincent Duport carrying it in both hands, and reach

:36:37. > :36:40.for the corner. It has been a long`time cunning of any kind of

:36:41. > :36:47.Catalan response. But they have done it in an eye`catching manner, the

:36:48. > :36:51.long price from Leon Pryce, Ormesby, and instantly brought `` and Vincent

:36:52. > :37:06.Duport scores. It has gone to ground, the referee

:37:07. > :37:12.says player on. Morgan Escare with a chip over the top, and a dive. He

:37:13. > :37:24.might just have a try here. A lot of questions to be answered. Knock on

:37:25. > :37:29.and grounding. It looks as though that went backwards, and what about

:37:30. > :37:39.the dive from Morgan Escare? No problems about that. So as

:37:40. > :37:43.sensational finish for the Catalan Dragons but it has only been at the

:37:44. > :37:45.very late stages of the game they have come alive. Warrington clear

:37:46. > :37:54.winners. The conundrum that is Warrington,

:37:55. > :38:00.red hot there, but quite bored at other games. Yes, some of that could

:38:01. > :38:10.be down to some experience lost last year. That could be an indicating

:38:11. > :38:15.factor of why the form has not been good as in recent years. Matty

:38:16. > :38:24.Russell is a new phase, and he has added a spark where Schumacher he

:38:25. > :38:31.has, he has. A couple of things to look at. And this book worked from

:38:32. > :38:36.Chris Hill, off`loading the ball. `` footwork.

:38:37. > :38:42.As they can get him into a position when he can flip the ball inside,

:38:43. > :38:54.and that is Warrington at their best. And quite a record for Joel

:38:55. > :39:02.Monaghan. Yes, he is a try man. He is a threat to catch the ball. He

:39:03. > :39:04.would be on every team's tick list. But for Catalan, it was a

:39:05. > :39:13.frustrating night. A game punctuated by errors. When

:39:14. > :39:19.you lose the ball and consistently turnover possession, you need to do

:39:20. > :39:26.too much defending. It can sap your energy. And when you get the ball,

:39:27. > :39:31.it has taken out so much, you do not have so much on the attack. Matty

:39:32. > :39:37.Russell is deceptively strong. A lot of people expect him to step, but he

:39:38. > :39:43.is a great player, and he creates great tries. It is not really a

:39:44. > :39:53.conundrum with Catalan, they are not great on the road. Yes, going over

:39:54. > :39:54.there creates challenges. Catalan need to improve their form away from

:39:55. > :40:02.home. Finally tonight let's check on Joe

:40:03. > :40:04.Grima's first match in charge of London. They were up against in`form

:40:05. > :40:08.Huddersfield, and signs of improvement in the capital? They

:40:09. > :40:14.went to half`time in the lead. He looked to start strong. You do

:40:15. > :40:25.wonder if they are playing week in, week out, when the win will come.

:40:26. > :40:29.And who will it be against? Yes. Playing back roses one of the

:40:30. > :40:37.dangerous bikes. It is very hard to handle. `` one of the dangerous

:40:38. > :40:42.strikes. The players getting going, some positive signs for London.

:40:43. > :40:46.Huddersfield would be disappointed, if they are honest, about how they

:40:47. > :40:53.played in this game, but London please. Paul Anderson was more

:40:54. > :40:56.positive than other games. He was pleased with their second`half,

:40:57. > :41:05.coming down and getting on with the job. Maybe getting carried away with

:41:06. > :41:11.the opposition. And maybe getting a short going into half`time behind.

:41:12. > :41:15.Maybe a few short words said in the dressing room from Paul Anderson and

:41:16. > :41:20.coming out a different team in the second half, looking to score a

:41:21. > :41:23.few, and they looked to be a different team in the second half.

:41:24. > :41:29.London looking better and better each week and if they can sort the

:41:30. > :41:36.fence, they will grab a win sooner or later. `` sought the de fence.

:41:37. > :41:44.The key thing is Danny Brough getting to top form. Huddersfield a

:41:45. > :41:46.good very direct. That seem to be the case in the second half against

:41:47. > :41:53.London. So four wins in a row for the

:41:54. > :41:56.Giants. Let's see the effect of that. And the rest of the results,

:41:57. > :42:08.on the First Utility Super League table. Wakefield have an 8`point gap

:42:09. > :42:14.between themselves and relegation places. We are off to Manchester for

:42:15. > :42:20.the Magic weekend. Top of the bill is Leeds against Wigan. And that is

:42:21. > :42:28.a Hull Derby. Coverage throughout the weekend on BBC Radio 5 Live

:42:29. > :42:30.Sports Extra. And The Super League Show has highlights of all seven

:42:31. > :42:47.games. All of two Manchester. Magic

:42:48. > :42:53.something you look forward to? It is, always a great occasion. A

:42:54. > :42:59.couple of great games for us, some tough decisions. Breaking into a

:43:00. > :43:05.tough sweat? Tell a macro some big decisions and I am sure there will

:43:06. > :43:12.be a great atmosphere this year. Do you think magic is growing on

:43:13. > :43:18.needs changing? It certainly has developed. The fans who go really

:43:19. > :43:25.enjoy it, seem to have a great time. When we are sweating out there. Next

:43:26. > :43:29.year is a real challenge. With the new structure coming in, it will be

:43:30. > :43:34.interesting to see where the Easter programme and magic is. There is a

:43:35. > :43:40.lot going on next year. We will have to see where magic is. As a player,

:43:41. > :43:44.I have grown to enjoy playing in big aims at a big stadium in

:43:45. > :43:51.Manchester, and a huge potential source for fans. Is it ought to have

:43:52. > :43:56.the Hull Derby in a neutral venue? You tend to be focused on what

:43:57. > :44:03.you're doing than fans screaming. But it is a great occasion. A lot of

:44:04. > :44:07.the fans get to see certain games they would not see. Some fans would

:44:08. > :44:13.not see a Hull Derby. A great occasion. We look forward to it.

:44:14. > :44:18.Good luck to the peer review. It is the first one I will go to. I am

:44:19. > :44:22.looking forward to it. `` good luck to both of you. That's it for this

:44:23. > :44:26.week, my thanks to Jon and Josh for joining us tonight. We will see you

:44:27. > :44:51.next week, when we will be in Manchester. Goodbye.

:44:52. > :44:52.a bar of tablet and a bobble hat. There you go.

:44:53. > :44:56.with three brand-new comedies to brighten up your spring.

:44:57. > :45:03.You cannot present the weather dripping with sex appeal.

:45:04. > :45:08.No sex appeal, the way I did it - that's the way to do it.

:45:09. > :45:10.All a good mountain man needs is a stout set of legs,

:45:11. > :45:14.a bar of tablet and a bobble hat. There you go.

:45:15. > :45:25.Why can't the rest of us have a go? There's a good reason.

:45:26. > :45:28.Comedy Playhouse continues with Monks.
