:00:30. > :00:31.more. It's been seven years since Hello! It's been a record`breaking
:00:32. > :00:35.start to the new Super League season. There were big crowds and
:00:36. > :00:39.some big scores, as a dozen teams set out on the road to Old Trafford
:00:40. > :00:42.over the last few days. Warrington's Richie Myler and Robbie Hunter`Paul
:00:43. > :00:49.have joined us to review the best of Round One. Here's what's coming up.
:00:50. > :00:56.Start Your engines ` Warrington and Saints get into gear for 2014.
:00:57. > :01:00.It's opening night in Hull. The Black and Whites must pass an early
:01:01. > :01:07.French test. And beware of the beast `
:01:08. > :01:16.Castleford's top try`scorer on the Tigers targets.
:01:17. > :01:21.Warrington celebrated ten years at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on
:01:22. > :01:25.Thursday night. Nathan Brown's new`look St Helens were their
:01:26. > :01:29.opponents. Both teams are looking to go one step further than they have
:01:30. > :01:35.done in recent years. Between them, they've lost the last seven Grand
:01:36. > :01:41.Finals. They cannot believe what has just
:01:42. > :01:42.happened... It is Wigan! It is a look of bitter disappointment.
:01:43. > :02:37.Battered and bruised. And with the short pass. Here comes
:02:38. > :02:42.Michael Monaghan. Are going wide! Finishes in the corner! Two minutes
:02:43. > :02:52.played and Warrington already have an opening score. Conceding very
:02:53. > :03:08.early in the opening game of the season. Good effort. Lomax, the
:03:09. > :03:16.fullback, is in the line. Oh! What a pass! Still had to dive to finish.
:03:17. > :03:22.But the flick from Jordan Turner was sensational! A suggestion it might
:03:23. > :03:31.have been forward. Take nothing away from the quality! Terrific.
:03:32. > :03:40.He is going to have a go. He has flipped it away and Walsh has picked
:03:41. > :03:42.it up. Stepping off that left foot and testing that Warrington defence.
:03:43. > :04:00.They are not to be found wanting. Nobody saw him coming! Leapt to pick
:04:01. > :04:07.his own line and has started in for Saint Helens' second try of the
:04:08. > :04:13.night. Into double figures with 60 minutes played. He is going to go
:04:14. > :04:19.for the kick... He is behind the 40 metre mark when he lets fly with
:04:20. > :04:25.that! It is tantalisingly good! It just bounces on the line! It is a
:04:26. > :04:32.spectacular 40`20 from Luke Walsh. Who announces his arrival with a
:04:33. > :04:39.moment of absolute kicking perfection.
:04:40. > :04:50.A little bit of a stumble but has picked himself a decent position.
:04:51. > :04:57.He will try the muscular route but there were plenty of defenders. Oh!
:04:58. > :05:07.Has he got it down! It looked very innocuous! Asking for the replay.
:05:08. > :05:14.Lots of defenders there and it was almost too easy in the end! Try
:05:15. > :05:22.confirmed! Three tries in seven minutes for Saint Helens, and he
:05:23. > :05:26.might well be! Here is Walsh, who is having a splendid evening tonight.
:05:27. > :05:42.Close enough. Two runners down! The referee is not
:05:43. > :05:47.sure. No, he has had a look and it will be another video decision
:05:48. > :05:54.required. Is there enough there to suggest the ball has hit the
:05:55. > :06:01.ground? Yes, there was! Saint Helens underlining their dominance.
:06:02. > :06:08.It is Gareth O'Brien who hoisted that one high and it has hit the
:06:09. > :06:15.post! He is quick to it and when he gets there, it is a try. He has
:06:16. > :06:18.finished some classics in his time but all he had to do here was
:06:19. > :06:25.captured touchdown because O'Brien's boot had finally unpicked
:06:26. > :06:30.things but not without an awful moth of good fortune! Well, if you plan
:06:31. > :06:38.to that, it was spectacularly good. `` an awful lot. Looking as though
:06:39. > :06:42.they are very much still in control of their emotions, and Tony,
:06:43. > :06:54.likewise. Saint Helens still in the box seat. He has the pace! Enough
:06:55. > :07:00.defenders back there to make sure it is a cul`de`sac into which he runs.
:07:01. > :07:06.He held it back into the middle and here comes Lomax, looking to the
:07:07. > :07:13.bridges. A pick`up and a turn! And in at the corner! Saint Helens with
:07:14. > :07:22.another! As long as the grounding is OK. A touch in goal is what they are
:07:23. > :07:26.looking for. This will certainly be their night and there is nothing
:07:27. > :07:30.wrong with that. Absolutely spot`on! There can only be one decision and
:07:31. > :07:39.it is a tri`! Saint Helens are running riot at times! `` it is a
:07:40. > :07:49.try! First much experience for Warrington. And Walsh is a way! To
:07:50. > :07:54.cap a wonderful debut. His kicking game has been outstanding. And just
:07:55. > :07:58.to make it even more memorable, he will pick up the easiest of
:07:59. > :08:05.interceptions and, unopposed, run for a debut try. He is a name we
:08:06. > :08:06.will be talking about an awful lot, I am sure, in the weeks and months
:08:07. > :08:16.ahead. I'm sorry to make you relive that. I
:08:17. > :08:22.am sure that is a game you would like to forget. No, that will stay a
:08:23. > :08:27.bit bitter in the tail for a long time. A quality side.
:08:28. > :08:33.They played really well and knew how to beat us in that game and,
:08:34. > :08:39.unfortunately, we weren't good enough. What is being focused on
:08:40. > :08:44.after the game? I didn't play too great! It is never a good thing. You
:08:45. > :08:50.have got to say some credit to Saint Helens. They came over with a game
:08:51. > :08:56.plan and their way of playing. Nigh on perfect, so they did really,
:08:57. > :09:03.really well. A tough time at the start of last season. How was it for
:09:04. > :09:08.you? It was perfect. Great to see what Brown brought to Saint Helens.
:09:09. > :09:12.A very dynamic type of offence, and especially attacks, and he has a lot
:09:13. > :09:16.of players moving in numbers and it makes it even doubly so when the
:09:17. > :09:20.forwards get good purchase. They were just punching holes into
:09:21. > :09:25.Warrington's line, giving their harvest time and space to move. What
:09:26. > :09:30.did you make of Luke Walsh because he was a big and important signing?
:09:31. > :09:34.You can see here is a smart player. He enjoyed having that space and
:09:35. > :09:40.time on the ball. You can see that. He came into the game at the right
:09:41. > :09:44.times. In this game, you know, he didn't need to because the players
:09:45. > :09:48.around him were doing their jobs properly. He was able to find a
:09:49. > :09:52.couple of good kicks in the game. This, you probably put down to a bit
:09:53. > :09:57.of miscommunication from Warrington's point of view. `` he
:09:58. > :10:01.probably put. But I would like to see when the game becomes a bit more
:10:02. > :10:09.physical to see exactly what he can bring to the table when he is taking
:10:10. > :10:13.the line on. Warrington didn't have any time and space on the ball, so
:10:14. > :10:20.that makes a big difference when you are a halfback. Saint Helen Scott
:10:21. > :10:25.purges, Warrington didn't. That was the difference. A great debut for
:10:26. > :10:29.him. He has come into a side and they are reaping the rewards from it
:10:30. > :10:34.and they turned on us in our own park, which is never a nice thing!
:10:35. > :10:41.There was one high tackle in the match. No charge. Has there been a
:10:42. > :10:49.shift or are we just picking up on something? We were talking about it
:10:50. > :10:51.downstairs. You see these flows of referees and it is like they get a
:10:52. > :11:01.mandate at the beginning of the season. This is 1... You can see
:11:02. > :11:06.that is the referee's camera as well. Not saying anything against
:11:07. > :11:10.him but he has a perfect view, he is right behind the tackling, and for
:11:11. > :11:16.me to hear another referee say on television it was a sending off, it
:11:17. > :11:20.has been missed by a couple of people and he could have got it from
:11:21. > :11:25.elsewhere. And I think the point that we can make here is, sometimes
:11:26. > :11:29.referees are given a mandate at the beginning of the season. If there is
:11:30. > :11:32.any high shoulder, I am ready going to knuckle down, send them down
:11:33. > :11:37.straightaway, make it clear straightaway. In other years, they
:11:38. > :11:44.are focusing on other areas of the game. That's make sure the plays on
:11:45. > :11:48.the ball are clean. So maybe we will see them get a bit tightened up on
:11:49. > :11:52.that. We shall see. It was time for the talking and the
:11:53. > :11:55.spending to stop in Salford on Sunday, as the expensively assembled
:11:56. > :11:58.Red Devils and owner Marwan Koukash had their first game of the new
:11:59. > :12:01.season. Their opponents were Wakefield, who've seen plenty of
:12:02. > :12:07.changes of their own during the winter months.
:12:08. > :12:11.A record crowd of just over 7000 on hand to get a first look at the
:12:12. > :12:16.brand`new red Bulls. Expectation amongst the locals was sky`high,
:12:17. > :12:20.though Wakefield, with their own winter overhaul, were not simply
:12:21. > :12:27.there to make up the numbers. The two teams coming onto the pitch at
:12:28. > :12:30.the moment and it is a slow walk up! Just how super will the Super League
:12:31. > :12:37.turn out to be for the Salford Reds have all is?
:12:38. > :12:42.The chase is on and that will be a drive. Third! The Red Devils with
:12:43. > :13:01.the lead! `` a drive forward. A Salford try! A little step by
:13:02. > :13:07.Smith... Turned it inside. Another Salford try!
:13:08. > :13:11.The second half was a complete contrast to the first, as the
:13:12. > :13:17.Wildcats got back into the game. However, that first missed of two
:13:18. > :13:21.conversion attempts would ultimately prove costly.
:13:22. > :13:29.COMMENTATOR: He is in right behind the sticks! Salford are in trouble!
:13:30. > :13:36.Lauer tiki driving from the corner! Big defensive effort! The referee
:13:37. > :13:40.has given it. But Salford held on, bringing a huge sigh of relief for
:13:41. > :13:43.all of their supporters. Their future feels a whole lot
:13:44. > :13:47.brighter. Mixed emotions because I've felt we had more than enough
:13:48. > :13:53.opportunities to win the game. And that second half performance was
:13:54. > :13:57.outstanding. But I felt we could get this together. We were very, rated
:13:58. > :14:02.in the first half and we just went away from what we were doing so
:14:03. > :14:07.well. We didn't have any ball away as a result of that.
:14:08. > :14:15.Important for Salford to win? I think it really was. With all the
:14:16. > :14:18.noise, the highest profile and driven Super League club pre`season,
:14:19. > :14:22.we know the reasons why for the colourful chairman and the owner
:14:23. > :14:25.that they have and it was just said, that man there, there was a lot of
:14:26. > :14:29.expectation on Brian Noble's shoulders. He had to come out and
:14:30. > :14:33.prove the squad they had put together could compete and we saw in
:14:34. > :14:38.the first 40 minutes that, yeah, they have got real talent within the
:14:39. > :14:43.squad. You have got Rangi Chase putting in the kick and Tim Smith
:14:44. > :14:48.coming into his own once Rangi Chase came off. They needed to show they
:14:49. > :14:53.are for the full 80 minutes and Noble will be dus appointed ``
:14:54. > :14:58.disappointed they allowed Wakefield back into the game. Wakefield lost a
:14:59. > :15:02.huge amount of players. Tim Smith there on the opposition. A lot of
:15:03. > :15:10.people were surprised how well they went? Is It is very inspiring forhe
:15:11. > :15:14.Wakefield fans. They dug deep and to lose a player like Tim Smith, a lot
:15:15. > :15:18.of the play went through him and to be on the opposite side, it is a
:15:19. > :15:22.tough one. They came back well in the second half and that will be
:15:23. > :15:30.encouraging and stuff for them to work the week after. They have
:15:31. > :15:35.Jarrod Sammut to come in having left the Bradford Bulls? Wakefield were
:15:36. > :15:40.professional. They contacted the club and everyone came to an
:15:41. > :15:45.agreement where all parties were left happy to a certain extent. I
:15:46. > :15:50.don't think it is a nice time for players to walk`out this close to
:15:51. > :15:56.the start of the season, but the way that Wakefield took to it as a
:15:57. > :16:01.professional outfit, I think, you have got to pay homage to them as a
:16:02. > :16:06.club. You both played at Salford. 7,000 fans they had through there.
:16:07. > :16:08.That bodes well? That's great. That's what the chairman has been
:16:09. > :16:12.shouting about and that's what the club needs and the supporters want
:16:13. > :16:16.and the big fanbase is what they need and if they can tap into that
:16:17. > :16:19.and tap into that area, it would be great for the club. They have signed
:16:20. > :16:22.some quality players. They have got big international players. So
:16:23. > :16:27.hopefully they can keep doing the business on the field and the fans
:16:28. > :16:33.will keep coming. We have seen wins for the Saints and
:16:34. > :16:43.the Devils, let's see how everyone else got on.
:16:44. > :16:52.Catalan calling, the Dragons are in town to turn up the heat. Will there
:16:53. > :16:56.be glory for Castleford's Carney? Who else enjoyed a smiling start to
:16:57. > :17:07.the rest of the action from Super League, round one?
:17:08. > :17:10.It's been another turbulent week in the life of the Bradford Bulls who
:17:11. > :17:13.lost another player on Friday as Jarrod Sammut left to join
:17:14. > :17:16.Wakefield, following on from Gareth Carvell's move to Hull FC.
:17:17. > :17:20.Robbie is Chief Executive of the club. To the outside world it has to
:17:21. > :17:26.be said two players leaving in the one, it doesn't look good, does it?
:17:27. > :17:31.It has been a tough week as well. That's not the type of adversary you
:17:32. > :17:35.want. It creates confusion within the ranks of the players and creates
:17:36. > :17:41.confusion on the terraces as well. I will say this, it was a tough week
:17:42. > :17:47.because as I found out last week, sleep is over rated!
:17:48. > :17:52.Is th it? Are any more going? No, I'm confident that everyone is set
:17:53. > :18:00.in their ways. They have really bought into, I have got to take my
:18:01. > :18:04.head off to Francis Cummins he has worked through this pre`season and
:18:05. > :18:07.he knuckled in with the team. The players as well, they have had to
:18:08. > :18:11.really bed down and you know what, they are all in it together and the
:18:12. > :18:17.reality, the ethos they have now, if you don't want to be with the team,
:18:18. > :18:22.they don't want you there. Where are we with the ownership? The current
:18:23. > :18:27.team which I am a part of are running the club and running it to
:18:28. > :18:33.the best of our abilities. There was the club, the club was put into a
:18:34. > :18:37.period of time, we are on show. And effectively, it rests with the
:18:38. > :18:41.governing body and the administrator. If another party is
:18:42. > :18:44.interested, they have got to come and prove to the administrator that
:18:45. > :18:48.they are better for the business than we are and better for the
:18:49. > :18:52.creditors. Effectively, it is all over to them, but we're confident in
:18:53. > :18:55.what we're doing. We are starting to bed down into the business and we
:18:56. > :18:59.have got a number of really nice income generators lined up. Do you
:19:00. > :19:03.think you will have a points deduction? I can't answer that.
:19:04. > :19:06.That's down to the governing body, but we have publicly stated that we
:19:07. > :19:09.are looking to work with all the creditors and whether or not that
:19:10. > :19:15.bodes well for us from a points deduction point of view, we will see
:19:16. > :19:19.how that pans out. I should imagine it was a relief to get down to
:19:20. > :19:25.playing against Castleford? It was. It was a great game as well. The
:19:26. > :19:29.scoreline really bodes well and in Castleford's way, but the game was
:19:30. > :19:33.on the edge of a knife for 60 minutes. Both teams had their say.
:19:34. > :19:45.Both teams were putting pressure on each other. Both teams came up with
:19:46. > :19:49.fantastic play. At the end of the day, it is the team that gets the
:19:50. > :19:56.most points on the board and Bradford were the dominant team for
:19:57. > :20:01.about 60 minute,s, but it is an 80 minute game. What did you think of
:20:02. > :20:06.Castleford minus Rangi Chase? They did play each other in a friendly a
:20:07. > :20:14.couple of weeks early. They had more time on the ball. Bradford were off
:20:15. > :20:17.the pace a bit. I think Finn had more time on his hands so that will
:20:18. > :20:24.get harder as they go through the season. They looked very good. It is
:20:25. > :20:30.call Cas in the last 20 minutes? Yes. Carney was a handful for the
:20:31. > :20:34.players. They had some nice things, lucky things or when you have got
:20:35. > :20:38.enough numbers, you make your own luck and Cas turned it on at the
:20:39. > :20:42.right time. They got a grip of the game and they started dominating and
:20:43. > :20:48.getting field position and they opened it up. They poured everything
:20:49. > :20:52.on to Bradford. A couple of times Bradford could have got a grip of
:20:53. > :21:00.the game, but he he with just `` but we just let the ball go. A few silly
:21:01. > :21:16.mistakes allowed Castleford get a stranglehold on the game. Nice to
:21:17. > :21:23.get back playing. Lovely. Justin Carney was the top try scorer for
:21:24. > :21:30.Castleford last season. He known as the beast. I am not a fancied
:21:31. > :21:34.player. I am too much straight down the line. Doing me best every time,
:21:35. > :21:39.I get the ball I just go 100mph and hope for the best. You get in the
:21:40. > :21:43.space and put him in one on one situations and you know he will be a
:21:44. > :21:46.threat. We have got good quality and positions all over the field and you
:21:47. > :21:50.want to get the ball to your better players and he is one of the better
:21:51. > :21:56.players in the league. You will be a big part of our success this year.
:21:57. > :22:07.We are hopeful that he will carry on where he left last season.
:22:08. > :22:15.It is a great club and everyone is down to earth and that makes this
:22:16. > :22:19.place home for me. I grew up in my country and I probably miss that
:22:20. > :22:25.more than anything especially living over here and the weather. I grew up
:22:26. > :22:32.in a country riding horses and I did a bit of rodeo riding, it is not a
:22:33. > :22:39.big career that! You are only as good as the next. You can get very
:22:40. > :22:44.hurt in those eight seconds. I wouldn't take that childhood away
:22:45. > :22:48.from me again if I had my time over. When you watch him play, it is not
:22:49. > :22:55.what you expect. You don't expect this real nice, mild, top quality
:22:56. > :22:59.bloke. You expect this snarling, charging, individual that he is on
:23:00. > :23:05.the field, but no, he is a great bloke. He is a pleasure to have
:23:06. > :23:10.around the place. He gets cranky now and again, but no, he has been
:23:11. > :23:15.fantastic for the club. I didn't know Darrel when I first came over.
:23:16. > :23:23.I sat done and had a chat and he picked me straightaway. He knew how
:23:24. > :23:26.I worked and I knew how he worked. We love playing for him. He played
:23:27. > :23:30.the game before. He played it at a real high level. We respect that. He
:23:31. > :23:38.knows what he is on about. He is smart. He is an exceptional player
:23:39. > :23:41.and the fans love him. I went to a fans forum last night and somebody
:23:42. > :23:44.asked me a question about him and the whole room lit up and that's
:23:45. > :23:48.what he has done to the club. He is one of those players that you get a
:23:49. > :24:01.sense from the crowd, as soon as he p gets the ball, there is a bit of a
:24:02. > :24:06.raise, yeah, he is a special player. They came up with all sorts of
:24:07. > :24:12.nicknames and songs. It is great support here. Castleford is a big
:24:13. > :24:17.town. Especially for rugby, it is a real pleasure to play in front of
:24:18. > :24:22.those guys. We have got a lot to prove with relegation. I don't know
:24:23. > :24:28.the ins and outs of that, but it is a big year for Cas. We are hoping
:24:29. > :24:36.for a top four spot. If we play how we're playing, we'll get there,
:24:37. > :24:41.there is no doubt about it. Ritchie, have you tried to stop him?
:24:42. > :24:47.You have got to lie down in front of him. He is so big and powerful and
:24:48. > :24:52.he is out wide and out wide and defending on the wings. You have a
:24:53. > :25:00.lot more space around players. He is getting that space and the size of
:25:01. > :25:06.him and the power and... It is not even a fair fight! There was a
:25:07. > :25:10.record crowd on Sunday. The Robins opened a new stand. For the
:25:11. > :25:15.first`half this was tough, wasn't it? Yeah, the first`half, Hull
:25:16. > :25:20.played Well Refreshed against them. It was really, really close. You see
:25:21. > :25:26.the quality of Leeds. You don't know if he is going to run inside or
:25:27. > :25:32.outside. Then he puts a kick in, unfortunately it was an error. This
:25:33. > :25:36.is the replacement. That's a good signing. He has taken the line on
:25:37. > :25:40.and it is a great try from him and the dominance from Leeds really
:25:41. > :25:47.showed and they have got two flyers on this wing. And you will be out on
:25:48. > :25:52.this side trying to stop Watkins? Those two guys can move at speed,
:25:53. > :25:55.but they are dynamic as well. We were talking about Carney and when
:25:56. > :25:59.he gets into space, that's what Leeds have got now on both their
:26:00. > :26:08.edges and when they enjoy space around them, they creativity comes
:26:09. > :26:13.alive. Leeds look like, Brian McDermott put together the finished
:26:14. > :26:16.package. They know how to accentuate each others strengths and they seem
:26:17. > :26:21.like on the right`hand side, they have got a strike force that can
:26:22. > :26:26.score tries for fun. They look, they make it look so easy and scoring
:26:27. > :26:31.Super League tries is not as easy as they are making it look. They are a
:26:32. > :26:35.very, very good side. Now they have got that extra depth with Briscoe on
:26:36. > :26:41.that wing and he can finish the try. The thing he brings to them is how
:26:42. > :26:48.strong he is. He is very good carrying the ball and that's a big
:26:49. > :26:53.plus for Leeds. It will be a big job for Hull, but he has got big shoes
:26:54. > :27:01.to fill. Dobson used to direct everything. When Dobson was good,
:27:02. > :27:06.Hull KR were good. During this game, obviously you can see, it is the
:27:07. > :27:11.game has got away from them. The meeting of Hull and Catalan
:27:12. > :27:15.brought together the youngest coaches in Super League.
:27:16. > :27:27.Dave Woods was watching. Sanderson. They have got a few
:27:28. > :27:38.numbers here, have they? Yes, the gap is created. Cordace is claiming
:27:39. > :27:44.the try here. The referee wants a second opinion. It is all about the
:27:45. > :27:51.grounding. It is a try. Confirmed. Catalan after 11 minutes.
:27:52. > :28:02.A testing little chip. It is taken mid`air by Whitehead. They have
:28:03. > :28:11.silenced the KC Stadium again. There are one or two roars of
:28:12. > :28:18.approval. They get it away. Here is Hull and Whiting has picked the gap
:28:19. > :28:24.and scored the try off the back of the run.
:28:25. > :28:40.Henderson. It is Lyon Price. It is promising on this left`hand side and
:28:41. > :28:51.an easier finish for Cardace. It is his second of the night.
:28:52. > :29:07.Into the gap! Off`loads! And a try just before the break!
:29:08. > :29:18.Just grabs him by the ankle. Ooh! Something untoward going on here.
:29:19. > :29:26.The suggestion is that he twisted the ankle illegally after the tackle
:29:27. > :29:32.was finished, and look at the pain. It is a penalty for the flop, as we
:29:33. > :29:34.hear from the referee. And it is going on report, so he might have a
:29:35. > :29:56.case to answer. A lovely pass from Rankin! Second
:29:57. > :30:03.for the `` of the night for him! Rankin with a lovely ball! Want to
:30:04. > :30:10.get on with it quickly. Here comes whiting. Lovely off`load from
:30:11. > :30:14.Richard Whiting. And Rankin is turning it into something very good!
:30:15. > :30:19.Never mind something very good! It is something very special! He's
:30:20. > :30:29.going to go the distance! What a try that is from whole town FC! ``
:30:30. > :30:36.Hull. It is one to live long in the memory! We're going to see a boot
:30:37. > :30:44.here and it is Rankin who will set it higher. He gratefully accept the
:30:45. > :30:46.gift! Jordan Rankin is having a golden few minutes, scoring tries
:30:47. > :30:57.and making tries. Jordan Thomson has seen a bit of a
:30:58. > :31:03.gap in which to run and has found it, and he will go all the way!
:31:04. > :31:06.Wonderful! Great effort from Jordan Thomson! Appreciated by his
:31:07. > :31:16.team`mates. Going wide where they've got the
:31:17. > :31:24.numbers and they've got the pace as well! He has options right and left
:31:25. > :31:30.and he is going to go inside! And they are on their way. Turning the
:31:31. > :31:36.tide in their favour inexorably now, surely!
:31:37. > :31:47.Catalan still hoping and still battling here. Taia will score and
:31:48. > :31:51.there is a harm of discontent around the stadium now, though it still has
:31:52. > :31:56.to be checked here. Obstruction is what they are looking for. You can
:31:57. > :32:04.see Price gets the ball. They Catalan runner, so that should be
:32:05. > :32:12.OK. And it is confirmed. There is still life in this game yet.
:32:13. > :32:23.A cheeky little chip over the top! And he touches down! And if this is
:32:24. > :32:30.given is surely confirms it will be Hull's night. Having a look at the
:32:31. > :32:41.grounding. And that looks OK and the try confirmed. He has put it wide,
:32:42. > :32:51.he has put it wide! That is six out of six conversions Hull have missed
:32:52. > :32:56.in this half and that is a worry. Henderson has the ball, throws it
:32:57. > :33:08.left. An air of desperation around Catalan now. A hat`trick for
:33:09. > :33:11.Cardace! Early celebration! The question hanging heavy now is, is
:33:12. > :33:24.there a possible comeback in the air? You bet there is! Back within
:33:25. > :33:32.six points! 36`30 and still time on the clock! Henderson again. This
:33:33. > :33:46.might be the last play. Chip by Bosc, collected by wood`mack... Wide
:33:47. > :33:56.it goes. `` collected by Bosc. It has to be adjudicated. It is not a
:33:57. > :34:09.knock`on, surely?! Looks good! It is a try! And the KC Stadium is
:34:10. > :34:18.stunned. All eyes on Thomas Bosc. Can Catalan get away with a draw? He
:34:19. > :34:25.misses it, it is a win for Hull. Bosc has put it wide! He can't
:34:26. > :34:39.believe it! But Hull hang on for a tight victory.
:34:40. > :34:49.And Lima has been charged for a grade D offence. Yes, a bit of a
:34:50. > :34:54.goose step and around the fullback. Put one on the plate for his centre.
:34:55. > :35:00.A great cutout ball from Rankin. Looks very dangerous. Goes right
:35:01. > :35:06.through the middle, and then, had the speed and the foot speed to get
:35:07. > :35:14.away because he had Price chasing him, so to do the fullback and then
:35:15. > :35:19.outsprint one of the quickest blokes in the sport! A great ball on the
:35:20. > :35:24.line. He sensed the centres and being able to put that right on the
:35:25. > :35:32.money, as I say, that was great. They finally solve their problems,
:35:33. > :35:37.do you think? Likewise say, `` like I say, he hopefully kicks on now and
:35:38. > :35:40.gets that partnership going. But there have been halfbacks coming in
:35:41. > :35:47.so hopefully he can cement his place. A helter`skelter game but
:35:48. > :35:54.probably both coaches will be looking at the fence over the weeks.
:35:55. > :36:04.Yes. Catalan really got into it. But then they died. Hull came into the
:36:05. > :36:08.game, a bit like last year. There was relief for the London team they
:36:09. > :36:12.had actually made it to the start line in the next. This was a big
:36:13. > :36:18.score against them. Yeah, it has been tough for London and they only
:36:19. > :36:22.put their team together in January. They have had to struggle to get
:36:23. > :36:27.those numbers together. So it will be tough for them to work out their
:36:28. > :36:31.combinations, get their systems in order defensively and
:36:32. > :36:35.attacking`wise. So they are going to need some time before they get into
:36:36. > :36:42.the flow of things but on the flip side, Widnes are good with that.
:36:43. > :36:53.Really settling into this game. We talk about new halfbacks, how key
:36:54. > :36:58.could their new addition be? They put a lot of tries on and scored
:36:59. > :37:02.some themselves. That is a very big plus forward missed town. And that
:37:03. > :37:14.continuity of having them play together. `` a very big plus for
:37:15. > :37:20.Widnes. They looked ready good in this first game. It is also amazing
:37:21. > :37:24.what a win like this... OK, we know that Harlequins haven't had the best
:37:25. > :37:29.preparation but a confident win in a Super League match like this can
:37:30. > :37:34.really kick`start your season. Your combinations come together really
:37:35. > :37:37.well. It is in contact. Everybody knows this isn't the easiest stadium
:37:38. > :37:41.in the world to go and play at the cost of the unique playing pitch.
:37:42. > :37:50.And I think Widnes might be able to surprise a few people. We should say
:37:51. > :37:56.Broncos, not Harlequins! What else to Widnes need to maybe move up,
:37:57. > :38:01.make that top eight? I think Danny Tickle is a strong back row but,
:38:02. > :38:07.like you say, it is getting the two halfbacks playing together. That is
:38:08. > :38:12.the key to those two. Playing week in, week out. They are a berry
:38:13. > :38:17.dangerous side and score some tough tries. A hard side to beat. London
:38:18. > :38:23.going back to the drawing board and just get the players in? Vain to get
:38:24. > :38:28.some time on the field, get their combinations worked out and come
:38:29. > :38:32.together as a squad. So, round one of the first utility Super League is
:38:33. > :38:34.complete, and before we leave you, let's check what is in store for the
:38:35. > :38:50.teams in round two. Leeds against Warrington is the
:38:51. > :38:54.standout fixture in League Two. The Super League show returns next
:38:55. > :38:59.Monday night at 11:50pm in the North. It is repeated in the early
:39:00. > :39:04.hours of Wednesday morning on BBC Two and will be available all week
:39:05. > :39:12.on the eye player. Don't forget to follow the Thursday and Friday night
:39:13. > :39:19.matches. Before we go, it has been confirmed Sam Burgess will move in
:39:20. > :39:23.October to Bath. We don't know what Sam would have chosen to do but does
:39:24. > :39:29.Rugby League need to look at hanging onto these key players? It is a
:39:30. > :39:34.tough one. People are shouting about having that. Sam personally, he is
:39:35. > :39:38.such an athlete and such a great sportsman that he should be taking
:39:39. > :39:41.that challenge. It is a sad thing for Robbie league but for him
:39:42. > :39:47.personally, it is a big challenge I hope he does well. But there is a
:39:48. > :39:52.fear of losing players? There is but there is a couple of dynamics we can
:39:53. > :39:57.look at and hopefully we can get it right. My thanks to you for your
:39:58. > :40:00.contributions. That is it for this week. We will see you next Monday.
:40:01. > :40:06.For now, goodbye.
