:00:31. > :00:35.Hello. There's been lots gohng on off the field in the last sdven

:00:36. > :00:41.days. It's a relief to have rugby league to talk about tonight.

:00:42. > :00:47.Bradford Bulls' saga contintes and Super League cuts have rejected the

:00:48. > :00:50.idea of key signings for now. We're here to guide you through the

:00:51. > :01:02.events of the week. Here's what s coming up: Top of the shop, Salford

:01:03. > :01:06.Red Devils and St Helens put their 100% records on the line. Rovers are

:01:07. > :01:13.looking for their first win, but the Tigers are yet to lose. It's Hull KR

:01:14. > :01:17.against Castleford. And keeping the wolves from the floor, Mickx Higham

:01:18. > :01:29.on Warrington. Leading the way in round three was

:01:30. > :01:33.the Thursday night meeting of the Devils and Saints. Salford `nd St

:01:34. > :01:35.Helens were both looking for a hat`trick of wins after a hdavenly

:01:36. > :01:48.start to the season. # You look like an angel

:01:49. > :01:56.# Walk like an angel # Talk like an angel

:01:57. > :01:58.# But I got wise, you're thd devil in disguise

:01:59. > :02:08.# Oh, yes you are # The devil in disguise

:02:09. > :02:14.# I thought that I was in hdaven # But I was sure surprised

:02:15. > :02:20.# Heaven help me, I didn't see # The devil in your eyes

:02:21. > :02:26.# You're the devil in disguhse # Oh, yes you are

:02:27. > :02:31.# Devil in disguise. # Two wins out of two so far for this

:02:32. > :02:36.team, but their toughest test so far, St Helens come acalling tonight

:02:37. > :02:41.much the mascot for Salford is 13`year`old Josh Wilson. His Twitter

:02:42. > :03:18.account says ` "He makes thd world smile".

:03:19. > :03:30.Just about rolling over to score the game's opening try.

:03:31. > :03:38.Some good, tight passing down the middle here. The heart rippdd out of

:03:39. > :03:43.that Salford defence by Jon Wilkin. Ryan Giggs is here tonight.

:03:44. > :03:47.St Helens beginning to thre`ten again.

:03:48. > :03:52.Turner with a very good pass, with a man meeting him. The quickndss of

:03:53. > :03:58.mind to put the kick in and Walsh follows up to score. Clinic`l St

:03:59. > :04:02.Helens stuff. Two tries and already the writing is

:04:03. > :04:06.on the wall here. St Helens have been impresshve in

:04:07. > :04:08.the early rounds and continte to look very impressive here so far

:04:09. > :04:21.tonight. He must be pleased with the way his

:04:22. > :04:25.charges have started the 2004 campaign.

:04:26. > :04:28.Walsh with a measured kick `gain. It's causing problems. The referee

:04:29. > :04:40.is asking the question. Is there a touch from a Salford

:04:41. > :04:45.hand? Was that under control when he touched it down? Decision thme.

:04:46. > :04:49.No try. Salford survive and they nedded to

:04:50. > :05:16.get that decision. What's his support like. He's found

:05:17. > :05:20.a gap on the left side. Percival putting the toe down. This hs Swift.

:05:21. > :05:26.Oh, he stepped inside. Perchval still there. In the blink of an eye,

:05:27. > :05:35.St Helens have gone from ond end to the other. From defence to `ttack. A

:05:36. > :05:45.try from Percival. It was desperation stuff here from Salford.

:05:46. > :05:57.Salford all over the place. Noble knows his side have been given their

:05:58. > :05:58.toughest test so far tonight. Maybe not coming up with the answdrs he

:05:59. > :06:25.was hoping for. Amor reaches over and touchds down.

:06:26. > :06:29.They can go the length of the field. They can hit you where it htrts

:06:30. > :06:34.where they're on your line. St Helens are proving to be a team of

:06:35. > :06:44.all talents. Great presence there to roll it away. Amor with the finish.

:06:45. > :06:50.I don't think he's going to get over here. No.

:06:51. > :06:59.Salford defenders hanging on, just about.

:07:00. > :07:05.Laffranchi, on the other side. Putting the knife through the heart

:07:06. > :07:08.of Salford again. It has bedn undoubtedly St Helens night tonight.

:07:09. > :07:41.They are a team to watch. Percival scores! It's anothdr

:07:42. > :07:46.sparkler from St Helens. Thdre's plenty of laughter in their play.

:07:47. > :07:53.They're loving every minute of it. As the hooter sounds, we sed again,

:07:54. > :07:57.that break. Percival with the coolness to score the try.

:07:58. > :08:02.It's been a disappointing nhght for Salford.

:08:03. > :08:06.We was really up for that bdfore the game. In the dressing room ht was

:08:07. > :08:11.electric. We were just off the pace. We have a lot of improvement we need

:08:12. > :08:16.to do. The first thing the guys said, don't look at the scoreboard,

:08:17. > :08:21.that was a tough game. At 12`0 early on, it looked like a good,

:08:22. > :08:26.comfortable victory. Salford hung. There they made us work really hard

:08:27. > :08:31.to get the win. When our forwards are saying how tough it was, it s a

:08:32. > :08:34.good sign for Salford moving forward. As a whole, we're happy

:08:35. > :08:40.with the start. We know we have a lot of work to do. We need to

:08:41. > :08:47.improve. Tougher physically than it made the scoreline look? I think it

:08:48. > :08:50.was. They have big, experienced guys, who've added steel to the

:08:51. > :08:58.middle and certainly their forward pack were very hard to handle. Hock

:08:59. > :09:02.is a physical presence. It lade it a tough night for us. We controlled

:09:03. > :09:07.the game for large parts of it. You can see with Salford they'rd needing

:09:08. > :09:13.some couldn't nunt, combinations between key players and probably

:09:14. > :09:17.losing Chase was a big one. We have to be happy with how we plaxed. We

:09:18. > :09:21.scored some great tries. Possible lit most pleasing thing would be the

:09:22. > :09:26.nil on the score board against a team studded with as many stars as

:09:27. > :09:31.they have, it was a pleasing thing to come away with, having not scored

:09:32. > :09:35.a try. Nathan Brown saying, we're definitely not boring. They aren't

:09:36. > :09:38.boring to watch. It's good fun. No, they're certainly not boring.

:09:39. > :09:42.Probably the thing that impressed me mostly about that game is every time

:09:43. > :09:46.St Helens made a half break, it turned no a full break and people

:09:47. > :09:49.were flooding through. They finished their opportunities off. Whdn you

:09:50. > :09:53.have a team that can do that and when they have speed on the edge and

:09:54. > :09:57.some youngsters on the edge that are very capable of scoring trids, then

:09:58. > :10:00.they become a difficult teal to play again. I think it's a great result

:10:01. > :10:03.for St Helens. They were talking about the game, it will be

:10:04. > :10:08.interesting to see where Salford are, coming up against a very good

:10:09. > :10:13.team in St Helens. St Helens showed how well they are playing. @mor

:10:14. > :10:18.joined you over the winter. He's had a real influence, as he's come in?

:10:19. > :10:25.Yeah, he's been great for us. There's a number of reasons why I

:10:26. > :10:29.think that. His energy, you know, he really energises the middle. He has

:10:30. > :10:36.great hands obviously, laying the try on for myself there. I think

:10:37. > :10:40.he's come on a huge amount `nd having travelled to Leeds and then

:10:41. > :10:46.to Wakefield and having to play in different environments has resulted

:10:47. > :10:49.in him becoming a well rounded front roller and obviously pops up for a

:10:50. > :10:52.try as well. His overall contribution during the gamd was

:10:53. > :10:57.exceptional. He does the little things very well. Very often he

:10:58. > :11:00.finds the front, plays the ball quickly for us. He's an effhcient

:11:01. > :11:06.defender as well. In the modern game, your middle guys don't have to

:11:07. > :11:12.be just big and aggressive `nd carry well, they need to be defend as

:11:13. > :11:15.well. Brian Noble saying, there were mistakes, he didn't like thd loss.

:11:16. > :11:19.If they're going to make those mistakes now, not in round seven,

:11:20. > :11:24.eight, nine. Yeah, it's going to take them time. They've had a period

:11:25. > :11:29.of time as a club of getting used to not winning. That's going to take a

:11:30. > :11:32.cultural change. That doesn't happen over two, three, four weeks. That

:11:33. > :11:36.happens over two, three, fotr months. He's right in what he's

:11:37. > :11:41.saying, it is going to take time. The likes of Chase not being on the

:11:42. > :11:45.field doesn't help. The one side of the game they did look as though

:11:46. > :11:49.they node a big improvement is the attacking structure. St Heldns

:11:50. > :11:52.looked comfortably defensivdly. I'm sure Brian is fully aware of that.

:11:53. > :11:56.They're doing work on the training field. You take Chase out of the

:11:57. > :12:01.team and it changes it a lot. Leeds were attempting another smash and

:12:02. > :12:05.grab raid in the south of France. Rhinos travelled in and out of

:12:06. > :12:06.Perpignon on Friday for thehr match against Catalan. What did you make

:12:07. > :12:10.of this one? against Catalan. What did you make

:12:11. > :12:11.of this It shows that The Ldeds are exactly what everybody was talking

:12:12. > :12:19.about in the off season. They were talking about the quality

:12:20. > :12:22.they have and the speed thex have on the edges. As the game develops and

:12:23. > :12:27.we see the tries, they're bding created by their edge attackers

:12:28. > :12:32.Hall, off`load to Moon and ht's a try in the corner. That was a

:12:33. > :12:34.repetitive theme, what Leeds are. When they've got attacking threats

:12:35. > :12:38.like they have on the edge, they're difficult to defend against. You're

:12:39. > :12:47.Catalan, a few of those trids, you're going to be wincing. I think

:12:48. > :12:51.they'll be disappointed with how they defended. Leeds challenge to do

:12:52. > :12:57.so Catalan defence to be good all night and unfortunately Cat`lan

:12:58. > :13:03.weren't good enough all night. When you have got the likes of Briscoe,

:13:04. > :13:07.there's always the opportunhties to score tries. One of the exchting

:13:08. > :13:10.things about Leeds is their ability to move the ball from one shde of

:13:11. > :13:15.the field to the other quickly and efficiently. If you combine that

:13:16. > :13:18.with being able to be direct I'm sure Catalan won't be happy with

:13:19. > :13:23.that defence. But if you can be direct and combine the two dlements

:13:24. > :13:31.to your game you are always going to be dangerous. And Hall has had a

:13:32. > :13:37.quiet season relatively? I think we focused quite a lot on people's

:13:38. > :13:42.try`score scoring contributhon. Ryan Hall is Leeds' go`to man to get them

:13:43. > :13:46.on the front foot and he's been doing that well. Watkins has

:13:47. > :13:50.developed into a lovely centre and his understanding of space `nd time

:13:51. > :13:56.and creating space for Tom Briscoe will be crucial for Leeds this year.

:13:57. > :13:59.Catalan have got some big injuries. Ian Henderson is out. They look like

:14:00. > :14:04.they are struggling and it could be a while. It looks like they are

:14:05. > :14:10.struggling with confidence. You look at a lot of the Leeds tries, they

:14:11. > :14:13.are sitting back and letting Leeds play. When they've got qualhty like

:14:14. > :14:18.that they are going to put 40 points on you. That's something th`t

:14:19. > :14:22.Catalans will need to look `t and regain confidence. But it is

:14:23. > :14:26.difficult to do when you ard losing your key personnel on the fheld

:14:27. > :14:30.Leeds and St Helens with three wins out of three but they weren't the

:14:31. > :14:35.only teams defending perfect records this week.

:14:36. > :14:46.Hull Kingston Rovers are looking to stop a Tigers treble.

:14:47. > :14:51.Mickey Higham guides us through his golden moments with Warrington.

:14:52. > :14:55.And the best moments from the rest of round three as Super League 9

:14:56. > :15:07.gets into gear. The Bradford bulls have been hit by

:15:08. > :15:11.a six`point deduction for entering administration. The directors of the

:15:12. > :15:21.club have walked away from their bid to by it. On Friday crouton joined

:15:22. > :15:27.Wakefield. There was always things going on but they've got a great

:15:28. > :15:33.group there. Their togetherness is good. We don't blame him for doing

:15:34. > :15:39.what he's done. He has had to think about his family. If he's got more

:15:40. > :15:42.security, good for him. For years now we've been getting to the end of

:15:43. > :15:46.the month and wondering whether we are going to be paid. I would like

:15:47. > :15:50.to come to the end of the month and not have to talk about it. We've got

:15:51. > :15:55.a great group of players thdre as people as well as players. Hf we can

:15:56. > :15:59.just get a chance tone joy our rugby and play without the other off`field

:16:00. > :16:03.stresses we might be able to achieve something this year. It is really

:16:04. > :16:08.tough for the players isn't it, not knowing you are going to get paid is

:16:09. > :16:12.pretty fundamental in life. Yeah, and you've got to credit thd

:16:13. > :16:15.Bradford guys with how they are dealing with this situation. The

:16:16. > :16:18.coach and the players deserve so much credit for the way thex've

:16:19. > :16:22.started the year under this dark cloud of financial pressure which

:16:23. > :16:26.has hung over the club for the best part of two or three years. The

:16:27. > :16:30.financial stress on the club is historical and gone back ye`rs. It's

:16:31. > :16:35.been acute over the last cotple of seasons. When you are playing

:16:36. > :16:39.professional rugby league wd are not blessed to be paid as much `s

:16:40. > :16:44.professional sportsmen that. Security this job offers was maybe

:16:45. > :16:49.comforting but the Bradford guys haven't had that. To do what they

:16:50. > :16:54.have done with huge uncertahnties about the future is remarkable. I

:16:55. > :17:01.can't give them enough credht. It is not what the game needs is ht, this

:17:02. > :17:06.constant bad news? No, it's not It is disappoint Pentagon. As John

:17:07. > :17:11.said, the Bradford saga's bden going on for some time. What you've got to

:17:12. > :17:14.do is give them huge credit their performances over the last couple of

:17:15. > :17:19.weeks. Two results notice l`st two games. They've got the points

:17:20. > :17:23.reduction and already they `re on minus 2 and starting to get back to

:17:24. > :17:27.zero points. They are going to be clinging on to the positives tall

:17:28. > :17:31.way through. Just to echo John's thoughts there about how pldasing it

:17:32. > :17:35.is that the players are showing such resolve. Francis has a diffhcult

:17:36. > :17:39.job, not only to deal with the players as players and trying to get

:17:40. > :17:44.the best of them on the field but to deal with them as people. They are

:17:45. > :17:48.having, they are not being paid They don't know whether the money's

:17:49. > :17:51.coming. You've got the deal with them as people as well. It sounds

:17:52. > :17:54.ridiculous after three weeks to be talking about a relegation

:17:55. > :17:59.four`pointer but against London that's what it felt like didn't it

:18:00. > :18:02.at the weekend? It did, but it is remarkable that the energy that

:18:03. > :18:06.Bradford has shown in this game it is probably a relief for thdm as

:18:07. > :18:11.players to get on the field. There's a lot of talk about the problems of

:18:12. > :18:15.the club. But when they go out there it is a chance for them to show how

:18:16. > :18:18.good they are and what a good team they are and what energy thdy can

:18:19. > :18:24.play. Some of them may be thinking about moving to other clubs, so it

:18:25. > :18:29.is a great opportunity to pdrform at a high level and show the tdams that

:18:30. > :18:33.they are available. London put up a gutsy performance, their co`ch said?

:18:34. > :18:37.They are underresourced in terms of players. They had poor prep`ration

:18:38. > :18:42.to the start of the year. It is going to make it difficult for them.

:18:43. > :18:47.Although they were competithve in this game you felt like Bradford

:18:48. > :18:55.were too good and were maybd a bit more clinical than what London were.

:18:56. > :18:59.Both sides have financial pressures in recent times and both sets of

:19:00. > :19:04.players are dealing with unhque challenges. One thing I will say,

:19:05. > :19:08.the new structure in this, the introduction of relegation, made

:19:09. > :19:14.this game very interesting to watch. It has created a lot of intdrest in

:19:15. > :19:18.the lesser games. For the stpporters of the game, they were maybd tired

:19:19. > :19:23.of watching these meaningless fixtures that lead to the play`offs.

:19:24. > :19:27.Certainly at the start of this year. These games matter and this game

:19:28. > :19:31.between Bradford and London was a huge fixture in the scheme of the

:19:32. > :19:35.relegation battle. Worryingly for Bradford it was a small crowd that

:19:36. > :19:40.turned out. They need this resolve, everybody around the club and the

:19:41. > :19:44.city need it resolved. You can feel the frustration of everybodx.

:19:45. > :19:50.There's been so much that's happened at the club over a period of time

:19:51. > :19:54.now. There's a 5,000`plus at the game. Very frustrating for the fans

:19:55. > :19:57.that they are showing that now with not turning up to the games. They

:19:58. > :20:00.need to support from their fans They need them numbers to come

:20:01. > :20:06.through. Potential buyers w`nts to see people coming through the

:20:07. > :20:12.turnstiles. Widnes were on the field on Friday. The Giants were looking

:20:13. > :20:15.to bounce back after throwing away an 18 point lead to drawing with

:20:16. > :20:28.Hull KR in round 2. Mariano has got the ball. Hd's going

:20:29. > :20:32.to score a try. We were so disappointed with the things that we

:20:33. > :20:37.did, we forget that we never lost but it feels like a 20 point loss.

:20:38. > :20:42.It is not acceptable. It is the last kick out of the ball and he's

:20:43. > :20:48.absolutely nailed it. You c`n understand why we feel like we lost

:20:49. > :20:52.the game but we are unbeaten still. We are not going to fall just

:20:53. > :20:57.because we've drawn in a gale. We are not going to be great every week

:20:58. > :21:04.but our attitude is to try `nd achieve greatness. Huddersfheld

:21:05. > :21:14.began in the right frame of mind on Friday night at Widnes. The Giants

:21:15. > :21:24.took an early lead. The ball came to McGillvy. An interception. 40 metres

:21:25. > :21:28.to go. No`one is going to c`tch him. 20 metres out and he will c`nter to

:21:29. > :21:39.the line. The second try for the Huddersfield Giants.

:21:40. > :21:52.Paul Clough surged over the give the Vikings a 12`10 half time ldad.

:21:53. > :22:01.A short pass and Crabtree's over! Danny Brough scored two pen`lties on

:22:02. > :22:08.the night but the one he missed proved crucial in the end as Widnes

:22:09. > :22:13.finished the stronger. And Widnes will pounce on the ball. Thdy score

:22:14. > :22:30.under the post. The ball's being pushed back in

:22:31. > :22:35.field. There's a loose ball there. He's going to have a word whth the

:22:36. > :22:43.in`goal touch judge. Who knows here, who knows here? This could be a

:22:44. > :22:51.crucial moment. He's given the try. What can you say? Wow! Wow hndeed

:22:52. > :22:57.for Widnes. Are they what wd could have had with licensing? I think

:22:58. > :23:00.they have had some consistency. Kevin Brown's been at the club a

:23:01. > :23:04.couple of years now. They'vd got Clarke at dummy half and through the

:23:05. > :23:11.spine of the team they've got some consistency. Off the back of that I

:23:12. > :23:15.think one of the key assets they had are hard`working forward pack that

:23:16. > :23:18.outmuscled the Huddersfield pack. That sounds ridiculous when you look

:23:19. > :23:22.at the size and strength of the Huddersfield pack. I thought that

:23:23. > :23:25.was one of the biggest problems for the Huddersfield. Maybe the

:23:26. > :23:30.enthusiasm and intensity of Widnes caught them out at the back end of

:23:31. > :23:33.the game there, but I think Widnes have done fantastically well. They

:23:34. > :23:40.are always a challenge to play at home. The games on the I pitch never

:23:41. > :23:44.follow a normal pattern and that one didn't. Huddersfield, will they be

:23:45. > :23:48.worried, two games in a row they haven't closed out? I don't think

:23:49. > :23:51.worried. I think more frustrate wood be the word I would use.

:23:52. > :23:56.Huddersfield have got very good players. Top class players hn key

:24:02. > :24:04.positions they've been in the last two weeks and sleet hem slip, this

:24:05. > :24:09.will he be frustrated. I wotldn t say concerned. It is early hn the

:24:10. > :24:13.year. We are only on round three and there's lots of time to improve on

:24:14. > :24:18.the areas you need to improve on. Two wins out of two for Widnes.

:24:19. > :24:22.Would it be three out of three for Castleford? The Tigers '100$ start

:24:23. > :24:29.was on the line when the hole team were looking for their first win.

:24:30. > :24:35.Hull Kingston Rovers showed their fighting spirit last week when they

:24:36. > :24:39.turned around an 18 point ddficit to draw at Huddersfield. But the

:24:40. > :24:42.Castleford side have two wins from their opening two games and are

:24:43. > :25:08.looking good. An opportunity and it's certainly

:25:09. > :25:10.the case here. The test for this Castleford defence. It is Hodgson

:25:11. > :25:27.the man at dummy half. James Green picking a path through

:25:28. > :25:28.the middle of those Castleford defenders to give Rovers thdir

:25:29. > :25:45.opening try of the night. Keating with the pass and Afternoon

:25:46. > :25:54.with the finish. `` Green whth the finish.

:25:55. > :26:03.Owen Owens. Castleford taking it to the other end and taking thd game

:26:04. > :26:10.back to Hull Kingston Rovers. A sweeping move right across the line.

:26:11. > :26:19.Finn involved. A good finish in the end from Richard Owen.

:26:20. > :26:28.It's going to be Owen who comes down with the ball in his hands. He

:26:29. > :26:32.seemed to snatch it in mid `ir. It's the perfectly`weighted kick from

:26:33. > :26:37.Liam Finn and it is a second try for Castleford. A clutch of defdnders

:26:38. > :26:46.didn't put off Richard Owen. He gets his second of the night.

:26:47. > :26:56.The chip again is a good ond and a score this time from Frankid

:26:57. > :27:01.Mariano. : This kicking gamd is causing all sorts of problels for

:27:02. > :27:04.Hull Kingston Rovers. A third try of the night for the Castleford Tigers.

:27:05. > :27:18.Mariano with the finish. Castleford have proved to bd

:27:19. > :27:39.clinical when they needed to be There's something not to thd liking

:27:40. > :27:49.here of Chris Welham. Liam Fin is being targeted here.

:27:50. > :27:56.What went on here? It has cdrtainly calls aid stir. I hear the words

:27:57. > :28:03."chicken wing". Whether there was any serious intent there is open for

:28:04. > :28:13.debate. He is going to spend ten minutes in the sin`binn.

:28:14. > :28:21.Liam Finn is dispatched. He's clearly not a happy man. Thd

:28:22. > :28:37.incident has been put on report Was that nasty? It didn't look too bad.

:28:38. > :28:52.Welham seemed to throw the head The referee, for the second timd in a

:28:53. > :28:56.matter of minutes, is having to get involved again here. I don't know

:28:57. > :28:59.what Welham does here. He sdems to head`butt. The referee clearly saw

:29:00. > :29:16.it. Right on the stroke of halftime

:29:17. > :29:22.Omari Caro! A fitting finald to the first half for Rovers. Boy, did they

:29:23. > :29:27.need it. He's showing himself to be quite a finisher. But Eden very much

:29:28. > :29:49.the architect, with the run and the pass.

:29:50. > :29:57.Oliver Holmes! Finally in this second half, the deadlook is broken.

:29:58. > :29:58.It has been an arm wrestle `t times. Castleford might just have put

:29:59. > :30:30.themselves in a winning poshtion. Owen for a hat`trick! That will

:30:31. > :30:36.finish it, absolutely. It is going to be a third successive win for

:30:37. > :30:42.Castleford Tigers at the st`rt of this new season, and a third try on

:30:43. > :30:47.the night for Richard Owen. Daryl Powell is looking like a contented

:30:48. > :30:52.coach, and well he might be. His side have got off to a flyer in

:30:53. > :30:55.2014. Castleford have had a terrific start

:30:56. > :30:58.to the season. Yeah, they h`ve. They've started really well. They've

:30:59. > :31:03.been building over the last couple of years, they lost Chase, but have

:31:04. > :31:07.replaced him with Liam Finn, who had a really solid game, controlled the

:31:08. > :31:11.game. From your half back you're looking for a few things, btt one of

:31:12. > :31:15.the key assets is game management and that's what he brought to the

:31:16. > :31:19.team. He seems to have stepped up seamlessly from the championship.

:31:20. > :31:24.Yeah, he has. He has pedigrde behind him. A former junior intern`tional.

:31:25. > :31:28.Certainly well equipped to organise a team. He's been doing it for

:31:29. > :31:32.Ireland as well, internationally. He's got all the tools in the box to

:31:33. > :31:36.lead a Super League team around the field. I thought he did really well.

:31:37. > :31:40.I thought his composure was great. He took the right decision. This was

:31:41. > :31:44.a particularly nice play, chose to hit his back row, on the fading line

:31:45. > :31:48.out to score the try. Yeah, I thought his overall contribttion in

:31:49. > :31:53.the gamuals really good. He did spend a little spell in the

:31:54. > :31:57.sin`binn, though. Let's look at the controversial moments from the game.

:31:58. > :32:00.What did you make of this? Was this a disciplinary matter? I don't think

:32:01. > :32:08.there's much in that. You c`n see why the referee has reacted. You can

:32:09. > :32:11.see why he's reacted. We certainly don't want things like the chicken

:32:12. > :32:18.wing in our game. I'm not stre there's anything in that. I don t

:32:19. > :32:22.think he'll get suspended for that. He's just pushed him away whth his

:32:23. > :32:27.head. I don't think there's much in that at all. It's just two little

:32:28. > :32:33.things that happen in a gamd consistently in a game of rtgby

:32:34. > :32:37.league. How high can they fhnish this season? It's a very difficult

:32:38. > :32:42.question. I think for them, it's about building momentum and

:32:43. > :32:46.confidence. They're three whns from three, which is great. That

:32:47. > :32:50.continues on from the way they finished the season last ye`r. They

:32:51. > :32:54.were four from five towards the back end of last season. For thel, they

:32:55. > :32:58.will be the targeting top ehght That will be a major target for

:32:59. > :33:02.them. At this stage, they won't think too much ahead of that. Hull

:33:03. > :33:08.KR, you thought he might kick on from that wonderful comeback against

:33:09. > :33:14.Huddersfield but they're looking for a first win. Yeah, a lot of teams

:33:15. > :33:19.are searching for consistency. With Dobson leaving, Coating comhng in,

:33:20. > :33:23.it will take a few weeks to get that right. We hope it takes a fdw more

:33:24. > :33:26.weeks before they do nail it. Wigan were back on home ground after their

:33:27. > :33:29.world club challenge trip to Australia. They were up agahnst

:33:30. > :33:34.Wakefield on Sunday. Both tdams looking for their first win. What

:33:35. > :33:39.did you make of this one? Wd'd have took the result before the game We

:33:40. > :33:45.had some guys that had been on a long flight, five, six days before,

:33:46. > :33:48.and had a relatively low`kex training week because of thd flight.

:33:49. > :33:51.To score some of the tries we did and you know, there's some `reas of

:33:52. > :33:56.the game we need to fix up. We're aware of that. We'll be working

:33:57. > :34:01.towards that. Certainly, sole of the tries we've scored shows th`t we're

:34:02. > :34:09.not too far away. O'Laughlin apparently knocked on the g`ffer's

:34:10. > :34:15.door saying, "I wasn't to play. " ` `` "I want to play." They dhdn't

:34:16. > :34:19.quite get the result they w`nted. You will have frustration from that.

:34:20. > :34:22.When you have frustration you want to get back on the field. Thatles

:34:23. > :34:27.what you want to do as a pl`yer He was desperate to play. Four or five

:34:28. > :34:30.other key personnel wanted to play. When you have people who want to

:34:31. > :34:35.play, let them play. Interesting for Wayne to say that Charnley was

:34:36. > :34:40.dropped. He made a point of saying that. Josh has had a couple of

:34:41. > :34:46.injuries through the preseason. He's had a World Cup campaign. Is perhaps

:34:47. > :34:51.he's not found his best forl as yet. Josh is a top`class winger `nd

:34:52. > :34:55.world`class player. At some stage in the season he's going to hit his

:34:56. > :35:03.form. The sooner the better for us. What about Wakefield, well beaten

:35:04. > :35:08.here, Richard Agar said aftdr. Yeah, well beaten. This was too mtch of a

:35:09. > :35:12.challenge for them defensivdly. They've shown glimpses at the start

:35:13. > :35:19.of the year of what they're capable of. Agar will be looking for a good,

:35:20. > :35:23.solid performance in coming weeks. It's a great effort to not only back

:35:24. > :35:29.up theful offing, what they've done, but the tough game, what thdy've

:35:30. > :35:34.played and to come back and produce a good performance like this. For a

:35:35. > :35:39.young guy to show athletic `bility like this, first, great poshtional

:35:40. > :35:44.play by the back three. Ball to Burgess. Joe started the se`son on a

:35:45. > :35:49.high note. To show this turn of speed and ability and agility just

:35:50. > :35:53.shows what a good prospect he is. He has a long way to go. There are

:35:54. > :35:56.areas of his game he needs to improve, but he works extrelely

:35:57. > :35:59.hard. If you have the ability to score tries, you are have a good

:36:00. > :36:03.chance of a good career. Yot know as a young stir at Wigan, you will get

:36:04. > :36:08.a chance if you show what you can do. It's the philosophy at the club.

:36:09. > :36:11.There's a lot of work done `t Wigan developing players and developing

:36:12. > :36:15.home`grown players. If you're spending a lot of money on that and

:36:16. > :36:19.timened effort on the youngsters, you've got to put them In It To Win

:36:20. > :36:26.It the first team when they're ready. That's what `` you h`ve to

:36:27. > :36:35.put them in the team when they're ready. A lot of clubs are producing

:36:36. > :36:39.their own young guys. Well, it's not been a great start to the sdason for

:36:40. > :36:43.Warrington, who lost their opening two Super League fixtures. There

:36:44. > :36:49.wasn't too much panic just xet. Their experienced hooker Micky

:36:50. > :36:55.Higham has already seen signs of improvement.

:36:56. > :37:00.Two tough games, but that's how you want it. Unfortunately we dhdn't

:37:01. > :37:05.come up to the standard, we can set ourselves. Disappointing, wd were

:37:06. > :37:09.out muscled a bit, out kickdd, out enthused. There were real

:37:10. > :37:12.improvement in The Leeds gale. It's all about improvement and

:37:13. > :37:16.improvement in players and stuff, the results will take care of

:37:17. > :37:20.themselves. There was massive improvement. There's still ` way to

:37:21. > :37:29.go, but I don't think there are excuses. We have lost some tall

:37:30. > :37:33.warts. So `` stall warts. Tony felt the time was right for some of them

:37:34. > :37:40.to move on and some of the xounger lads, they have a lot of experience

:37:41. > :37:44.as well. Tony is a shrewd coach He knows what he's doing. He gdts the

:37:45. > :37:51.best out of us. At the moment he's challenging us to be better. I'm

:37:52. > :37:56.sure we will be. Higham was Warrington's Plaxer of

:37:57. > :37:59.the Year in 2013. The former St Helens hooker clocked up a century

:38:00. > :38:09.of career tries. COMMENTATOR: It is going to be a big

:38:10. > :38:14.moment for Higham, his 100th try. The latter stage of my caredr, but

:38:15. > :38:19.I'm still learning, especially now them guys have gone, it's good for

:38:20. > :38:24.me to take on a bit more seniority, and something I need in my game a

:38:25. > :38:31.bit of leadership. If you'rd feeling fit and playing well, the age is not

:38:32. > :38:37.a issue. It's not Tuesday, Thursday, night, mud baths and ten cigarettes.

:38:38. > :38:40.You train, look after yoursdlves, ice chambers and recovering. I look

:38:41. > :38:45.after myself pretty well. I'm feeling fit. The last coupld of

:38:46. > :38:50.years I've been happy with ly form. I always want to better mysdlf and

:38:51. > :38:55.keep going. Hopefully, if I can kick on from last year, then who knows wh

:38:56. > :38:59.can happen. Just try my best and give the team a lift. Highal is the

:39:00. > :39:03.only player at Warrington to have enjoyed Grand Final success. 12

:39:04. > :39:08.years ago he was an Old Trafford winner with St Helens. I got a taste

:39:09. > :39:13.for it in 2002, for me personally, it's too long between trove quiz.

:39:14. > :39:17.I've had a taste of glory. Ht's memories that live with you forever.

:39:18. > :39:22.It don't seem that long ago, that trophy was lifted. That's how time

:39:23. > :39:28.goes quick. You have to Cherish every moment. It's three massive

:39:29. > :39:32.clubs and I don't want to clock up too many miles on the car. This is

:39:33. > :39:36.the longest I've been at a club Warrington, this is my sixth season.

:39:37. > :39:39.It's made it feel like home. When you feel at home and you're enjoying

:39:40. > :39:43.the environment, you tend to play better rugby. That's probably what's

:39:44. > :39:50.been shown the last couple of seasons. Hopefully it will continue.

:39:51. > :39:58.He's a bit like a fine wine, improving with age. He is, xeah

:39:59. > :40:03.Micky has been great. He's taken on the leadership role at the club

:40:04. > :40:08.When Michael Monahan has not been in the hooking position, Micky has done

:40:09. > :40:12.really well. Player of the Xear last year. Looking for their first win of

:40:13. > :40:17.the season, they were up ag`inst Hull FC on Sunday and good to see

:40:18. > :40:21.Ratchford and Myler combining for the first try. Yeah, they'rd two

:40:22. > :40:27.very good, young players who have a fair bit of experience in them as

:40:28. > :40:32.well. It takes something whdn somebody like Lee Briers retires, it

:40:33. > :40:35.takes a time to fill the gap. Already they're starting to show

:40:36. > :40:40.combinations. They've not hht the form they will want to hit. But

:40:41. > :40:44.defensively they're strong. If you are, you'll be disappointed to

:40:45. > :40:47.concede from there. If you're defensively strong you're going to

:40:48. > :40:51.pick up results. At this early stage of the season, I'm sure thex'll be

:40:52. > :40:55.happy with the way they're defending. Ing to see signs of

:40:56. > :40:59.enough combinations? Yeah, ht will take a bit of time. Young gty it's,

:41:00. > :41:02.who have probably had not a lot of pressure on them in terms of

:41:03. > :41:05.organising and kicking and these facets of the game, when yot're a

:41:06. > :41:10.half back, are hugely important They have O'Brien there who is a

:41:11. > :41:13.natural kicker of the ball. He will do a lot of that for them. There's

:41:14. > :41:18.no panic at Warrington. You look at their team and you just, it oozes

:41:19. > :41:22.quality and no doubt, it will continue to improve as the season

:41:23. > :41:29.goes. We will forget about the first two rounds of the year in two or

:41:30. > :41:34.three weeks, it's all gone. They'll be onwards and upwards. For Hull,

:41:35. > :41:38.really disappointed with a poor first half but a good second half.

:41:39. > :41:43.That's been the story of thd season so far, they've put together

:41:44. > :41:47.patches. Lee is a perfectionist and he wants everything to be spot on.

:41:48. > :41:50.Slightly disappointed with that already they're showing signs that

:41:51. > :41:53.they are going to be a forcd through thethe season. Teams have won and

:41:54. > :42:22.seven teams have lost. Let's see how the results have left the t`ble

:42:23. > :42:29.We're back next Monday night at 11. 50pm, in the north of England, with

:42:30. > :42:34.the programme repeated at 1pm on Tuesday lunch time on two. Catch it

:42:35. > :42:41.all week on the iPlayer. Thtrsday's match will be on 5 Live sports

:42:42. > :42:51.extra. Coverage starts at 7. 30 One of the other issues of the week

:42:52. > :42:55.Marwin n Koukash failed to bring that through. Should we havd marquee

:42:56. > :43:00.players? Do we want to keep our star players in the game? The answer has

:43:01. > :43:05.to be yes. There's increasing pressure from Rugby Union for our

:43:06. > :43:09.star names to leave. In terls of commercial buying power, those

:43:10. > :43:15.games, huge terms. So we nedd to look at ways of keeping our stars in

:43:16. > :43:18.the game. Ultimately, in a period of pin stability financially for the

:43:19. > :43:23.clubs, the stability of the clubs and the game needs to be put first.

:43:24. > :43:26.A minimum spend on the salary cap, minimum guaranteed spend by each

:43:27. > :43:31.club would be a more sensible way to do this, when the TV distribution

:43:32. > :43:36.goes to each club and covers the salary cap. I think ideas lhke this

:43:37. > :43:41.really, it's kind of after the horse has bolted. We're looking at ways to

:43:42. > :43:46.keep our star players in thd game, when we've lost Burgess and

:43:47. > :43:50.Tompkins, star players. It ` club has stability and they have `` if a

:43:51. > :43:52.club has stability and they are getting numbers through the game, if

:43:53. > :43:57.they want to bring a star player in, and they want to bring a Sal Burgess

:43:58. > :44:02.across here or a Sam Tomkins into Super League, then we need them

:44:03. > :44:08.players in our game. If we get them players in our game, we gendrate

:44:09. > :44:10.money into the game. It is `n argument that will run and run.

:44:11. > :44:15.Thank you both for joining ts tonight. We are back next wdek with

:44:16. > :44:17.the best moments from around the league. Until then, from all of us,

:44:18. > :44:21.goodbye.
