:00:30. > :00:35.Hello. We've completed a set of six matches in the 2014 season `nd it's
:00:36. > :00:38.tight at the top and tough `t the bottom of the Super League table. We
:00:39. > :00:42.have some unusual score linds to bring you and plenty to talk about
:00:43. > :00:50.over the next 45 minutes. Hdre's what's coming up: It's Catalan
:00:51. > :00:57.against Huddersfield as the dragons seek to stir from their early season
:00:58. > :01:05.slumber. Who's reign in the rain, it's a
:01:06. > :01:08.rematch for Wolves and warrhors We meet the red devil's big hitter
:01:09. > :01:24.who is back home in Salford. Huddersfield's Earl Crabtred and
:01:25. > :01:28.Matty Smith join us to talk the talk about the weekend's events. We start
:01:29. > :01:31.in the south of France, where Catalan were playing only their
:01:32. > :01:35.second home game of the season. Huddersfield Giants were thd
:01:36. > :01:41.opponents. It's been a dreadful start to the
:01:42. > :01:43.season, the dragons five defeats in five games. They haven't won a match
:01:44. > :02:05.since August last year. The driving effort here. He's going
:02:06. > :02:11.to be held up. But only just short much it's a decent position. Catalan
:02:12. > :02:14.find themselves in a decent position. He's just about kdpt hold
:02:15. > :02:28.of that. Not much in it. They've found the gap with Zeb Taia,
:02:29. > :02:34.who scores the game's opening try. Signs of encouragement for the
:02:35. > :02:40.Catalan Dragons. They've not had much to cheer this season. But they
:02:41. > :02:45.have the opening try here. It's not the biggest crowd we've
:02:46. > :02:48.seen in Perpignon in recent years, but I'm sure there's a few smiles
:02:49. > :02:56.returning to faces at the moment with the way they're perforling so
:02:57. > :03:01.far in this first half. It's a similar passage through, but it s
:03:02. > :03:06.Anderson who scores this tile. If the referee or video refered is
:03:07. > :03:12.mindful to give it here. Botncing in and twisting around. Did he get
:03:13. > :03:22.downwards pressure on that. That's the question. They say it is a tie.
:03:23. > :03:24.A similar play for Catalan here They go for the runnout and this
:03:25. > :03:41.time Anderson scores. It's been stolen, the referde says.
:03:42. > :03:43.A penalty here. Immediately I think they've decided to go for the two
:03:44. > :03:56.points. Thomas Bosc with the chance to give
:03:57. > :04:01.his side a three`score lead. Over it goes.
:04:02. > :04:09.Healthy stuff from Catalan Dragons late in this first half.
:04:10. > :04:16.There's a bit of space on the left side.
:04:17. > :04:24.Escare, who started it from dummy half might finish it here! Very
:04:25. > :04:29.very close. The halftime hooter sounds in the background. It will be
:04:30. > :04:33.the last play of the game. Last play of the first half. In fact ht's
:04:34. > :04:44.going to be a penalty. Hudddrsfield a rush of blood. Morgan Esc`re with
:04:45. > :04:50.terrific pace. Bosc with a chance to extend this lead to 16`0.
:04:51. > :04:55.It's the final kick of the first half. It's gone wide. Still plenty
:04:56. > :04:57.of food for thought for Huddersfield, as they go in at
:04:58. > :05:28.halftime trailing 14`0. Not the nicest looking move, but it
:05:29. > :05:34.has kept Catalan rolling forward. Taia has done ever so well.
:05:35. > :05:38.Anderson to finish! His second try of the night.
:05:39. > :05:45.Four minutes into the second half, and the Catalans have taken this
:05:46. > :05:52.game by the scruff of its ndck. Really good play down that left`hand
:05:53. > :05:54.flank. They are in hay winnhng position `` in a winning position
:05:55. > :06:05.now, surely. They might not be here in great
:06:06. > :06:10.numbers, but they're here in great voice.
:06:11. > :06:16.It's the first time this se`son their side have really put ht
:06:17. > :06:21.together. Huddersfield need a response quickly.
:06:22. > :06:30.Escare sprints away for the try that surely seals it now.
:06:31. > :06:37.Look at the grins. They havd been missing so far this year, btt not
:06:38. > :06:39.tonight. In the south of Fr`nce they're enjoying their rugbx league
:06:40. > :07:07.again. Squares in the air by the rdferee.
:07:08. > :07:11.Danny Brough was closest. It hits the knee of Bosc. Grix puts the hand
:07:12. > :07:14.on the ball to surely confirm the try.
:07:15. > :07:36.It is! Try for Huddersfield. Huddersfield are within touching
:07:37. > :07:40.distance of that whitewash. What's going on on the left side. The
:07:41. > :07:46.frerchling players were slow to get back there. Ferres has pushdd his
:07:47. > :07:52.way over. Just went low and hard. It's all getting a little hdated
:07:53. > :07:56.here. But it is a try for Brett Ferres. The French players slow to
:07:57. > :08:15.get back in position. Ferres went low and was unstoppable.
:08:16. > :08:22.Whitehead, well he reckons he got there first. And if he has, that has
:08:23. > :08:27.put the game to bed, surely. Delicate little kick here. Ferres
:08:28. > :08:31.turning, trying to get therd. Doesn't quite get the hand to it.
:08:32. > :08:41.Whitehead suggesting he got the downward pressure. That looks as
:08:42. > :08:47.though he has. A try that strely gives Catalan their first whn of the
:08:48. > :08:52.season. Whitehead has had a terrific game
:08:53. > :08:56.tonight, the finisher. They'll carry on despite thd injured
:08:57. > :09:14.player. It's a matter of seconds.
:09:15. > :09:20.Broughton scores a try that barely deserves any celebration, bdcause it
:09:21. > :09:24.comes much too late to make a difference. Huddersfield be`ten it
:09:25. > :09:29.is Catalan with their first win of 2014.
:09:30. > :09:33.We will get to you in a momdnt, but how big a win that for Catalan,
:09:34. > :09:37.particularly given the crishs talks they had a couple of weeks `go?
:09:38. > :09:44.Yeah, it was a massive win `gainst the side that topped the table last
:09:45. > :09:50.year. They had a few stand`out performers. Elliott Whitehe`d really
:09:51. > :09:53.stood out. They have a few players to play in the side. It's a massive
:09:54. > :09:57.win. We'll be looking forward to playing them on Friday. It will be a
:09:58. > :10:01.tough one. They've had four on the road, they needed to do that and do
:10:02. > :10:05.it at home will have got evdrybody behind them, won't it? It's really
:10:06. > :10:09.hostile over there. It's a tough place to go. I faux Huddersfield
:10:10. > :10:14.would probably say they werd a bit off in that performance. Yot have to
:10:15. > :10:17.give credit to Catalan. Thex really showed up and played for each other
:10:18. > :10:24.and they were in desperate need of a win and they got that. It is a
:10:25. > :10:29.little bit off, does that stm it up? Yeah, exactly. They were fantastic
:10:30. > :10:32.on the night. We were under no illusions that they would bd really
:10:33. > :10:36.good and really aggressive, as they always are. They were. They came out
:10:37. > :10:40.firing. We just had no answdr to them. Everything went against us a
:10:41. > :10:44.bit. You're always going to think that. We were outplayed on the
:10:45. > :10:47.night. It was disappointing from our point of view. We have another
:10:48. > :10:51.opportunity. It's a long se`son They will pick up more scalps as
:10:52. > :10:55.well. Everybody talks about Catalan being a physical side, maybd that's
:10:56. > :11:02.something they've been lackhng. But Anderson stood out in the forwards
:11:03. > :11:08.of that power he had. We weren't sure what to expect from hil. He ran
:11:09. > :11:13.hard, tackled hard. He tackled me a few times. You could tell hd had
:11:14. > :11:17.that strength. He's good for that team. People like him back hn the
:11:18. > :11:21.side will only benefit the dragons. They've got pace to burn as well.
:11:22. > :11:26.That's so fantastic about them. They have so many good players and now
:11:27. > :11:29.they're coming into a bit of form, home patch, they will get a few more
:11:30. > :11:33.victories and good performances as well. Needed those experienced
:11:34. > :11:39.players to stand up and lead the team. Yeah, and they did. They
:11:40. > :11:43.played really well. I think when you play an Huddersfield side you need
:11:44. > :11:48.to stand up to the pack, a very big side and Catalans are big, so
:11:49. > :11:54.through the middle they werd fantastic. They had players like
:11:55. > :12:00.Polissier who go forward, qtick rucks. You've had an up and down
:12:01. > :12:04.start to the season. Obviously started very well, but you seem to
:12:05. > :12:08.be up and down at Huddersfidld. Yeah, we haven't found our feet at
:12:09. > :12:11.the moment. That's been disappointing. We are putting in big
:12:12. > :12:15.performances probably against the bigger team. That's worrying, but at
:12:16. > :12:20.the same time, it's rewarding. We know we can put in these big
:12:21. > :12:24.performances. But we need to do it on a more regular basis. Evdryone
:12:25. > :12:29.says we start well and this year we haven't. Maybe that's a good thing.
:12:30. > :12:32.Missing Sean Lunt? Yeah, massively. He's one of those players that
:12:33. > :12:36.should be looking for international honours at the end of the sdason. If
:12:37. > :12:40.we can get him into some sort of form, he's only going to benefit the
:12:41. > :12:41.side. For the dragons to shout about, who else was celebrating in
:12:42. > :12:52.round six? London were looking for thehr first
:12:53. > :12:58.win, but did the Broncos find it at unbeaten Leeds? Making a brdak, it's
:12:59. > :13:06.a heavyweight contest for W`rrington and Wigan.
:13:07. > :13:07.Half a dozen of the others, all the best moments from the remaining
:13:08. > :13:19.games in round six. There have been plenty of sliles at
:13:20. > :13:23.Wakefield over the last couple of weeks, after big wins for the
:13:24. > :13:27.wildcats against Catalan and London. The next test for the side was a
:13:28. > :13:31.visit from league leaders, St Helens. Saints scored first, but
:13:32. > :13:39.Wakefield really good in thd first half. Yeah, they were. Saints
:13:40. > :13:45.started a bit slow. Going in at halftime 16`4 down. But Wakdfield
:13:46. > :13:52.put some great tries, scored good points. It's tough to go thdre.
:13:53. > :13:59.Signs of Wakefield coming together, we've had Richard Agar, thex started
:14:00. > :14:06.behind the eight ball. Yeah, it s always a tough start when you're
:14:07. > :14:11.losing players and the likes of your better players moving on, btt
:14:12. > :14:14.they've really rallied and signed great players as well. Sammtt is a
:14:15. > :14:18.fantastic player and played really well last year. They seem to be
:14:19. > :14:23.playing all right now. Paul McShane has come in and he's key for them.
:14:24. > :14:31.Yeah, I really rate him at Leeds. He's a good player, McShane.
:14:32. > :14:39.Hopefully he can do well for them. He's shown good touches in this
:14:40. > :14:42.game. He does really well. @ few words I'm guessing said at halftime.
:14:43. > :14:52.To be fair to Saints they wdre missing a fair few players. Watching
:14:53. > :14:56.the highlights, it's all about Wilkin. He kill it's. That's always
:14:57. > :15:00.good to see. That's probablx because he plays so much there last year. He
:15:01. > :15:03.wants to be in the back row, but he had the opportunity last ye`r to be
:15:04. > :15:08.in that position and he madd the most of it in this game. Wakefield
:15:09. > :15:11.are going under the radar. They are coming into form. They have decent
:15:12. > :15:15.players who will find form `s the season goes on. Saints are ` great
:15:16. > :15:19.team no matter who is in thd side. They hung in there. Wilkin kick
:15:20. > :15:24.here, it's a great take above the head. Great skill. Saints are going
:15:25. > :15:29.to be dangerous all year. Wd saw Wilkin with a 40/20 the othdr week.
:15:30. > :15:33.His kicking game really has come on. I think he enjoys that part of the
:15:34. > :15:37.game, kicking and he's a grdat player. He's a player that xou can
:15:38. > :15:41.move around in different positions and he will do a great job for you.
:15:42. > :15:47.Looking at them highlights then Wilkin and Wellens, it looks like
:15:48. > :15:51.they've been there all year. With so many key players missing, Ltke Walsh
:15:52. > :15:59.out as well for Saints, does that bode well, they can get the results?
:16:00. > :16:02.Yeah, they've got good qualhty and strength in depth is impressive But
:16:03. > :16:07.they tend to pick up injurids. That's a massive injury to Luke
:16:08. > :16:10.Walsh there for St Helens. But it gives people an opportunity because
:16:11. > :16:14.this does happen. If it happens at the business end of the season, you
:16:15. > :16:21.have to rely on somebody else. They have shown they have people in those
:16:22. > :16:29.positions. Have made it a challenging few weeks for Brian
:16:30. > :16:33.noble one of the fresh faces is Harrison Hansen. He moved to Salford
:16:34. > :16:42.which was something of a hole coming for the man they call H.
:16:43. > :16:51.It took some getting used to. Small steps at a time. We're moving
:16:52. > :16:57.forward each weekment `` wedk. I grew up in Swinton. Been thdre since
:16:58. > :17:02.I came over when I was five. I was in Swinton until I joined Whgan
:17:03. > :17:06.when I was 15. It's got a special place in my heart. My mum and dad
:17:07. > :17:11.still live in Swinton. It w`s great to finally come back. Wigan got a
:17:12. > :17:17.real big place in my heart. Obviously, this is where I owe my
:17:18. > :17:20.experience. It was a tough decision to leave. But it was the right
:17:21. > :17:24.decision. I was ready for a change. I was ready for a new challdnge
:17:25. > :17:38.Obviously I'm here now and this is the challenge that awaits.
:17:39. > :17:41.COMMENTATOR: Oh, my word! What a tackle by Hansen. It's alwaxs been
:17:42. > :17:45.part of my game. I've enjoydd the defensive side. I pride mysdlf on
:17:46. > :17:48.good defence and not letting anything through me. The occasional
:17:49. > :17:54.big hit is a bonus. COMMENTATOR: Have a look at this `
:17:55. > :17:58.oh, he's like a flying misshle. It's a tough sport. You have to dxpect
:17:59. > :18:11.the big hits, expect to givd them back and take them. I've sedn that
:18:12. > :18:15.many times. It's part and p`rcel of the game. Even stuff like that which
:18:16. > :18:26.happened, after the game we still shake hands. It's part of the game.
:18:27. > :18:31.COMMENTATOR: It is Wigan with the double in 2013.
:18:32. > :18:35.They were my dreams. We thotght we could win the double in the year.
:18:36. > :18:39.The stick we were getting at the start of the season, saying we were
:18:40. > :18:42.going to finish sixth, seventh and not making any finals, to prove the
:18:43. > :18:46.people wrong was a massive achievement. The team that we had
:18:47. > :18:51.and with the people that were leaving, it was a great sendoff It
:18:52. > :18:56.was good to finish on a happy ending. The people that left, a new
:18:57. > :19:01.direction in their careers, and mine was the same as the others. It all
:19:02. > :19:05.happened pretty late. It happened in December. Yeah, I was the l`st
:19:06. > :19:10.signing for Salford. A lot of people didn't expect it. I think I ended
:19:11. > :19:20.things good with Wigan and they let me go happily and I've come to this
:19:21. > :19:25.place. We want to start quick off the
:19:26. > :19:29.blocks and get a couple wins and really, sort of, start building
:19:30. > :19:36.momentum. Yeah after those two wins, we've had a lull. It's been tough
:19:37. > :19:40.times. There's a few of us had to look at ourselves in training and
:19:41. > :19:48.stuff and obviously change things, how we would play. I think ht is
:19:49. > :19:55.getting better. Since we had Shawn `` Sean Long on board, he's one of
:19:56. > :19:59.the former best attacking h`lf backs in this country, so to have his
:20:00. > :20:05.experience and knowledge it's benefitting our team. As thd season
:20:06. > :20:09.goes on, I think we will re`lly hit our stride come May time. Wd just
:20:10. > :20:10.have to keep looking forward, keep moving forward and trying to keep
:20:11. > :20:23.improving every game. Looking at some of the hits he
:20:24. > :20:26.dished out and took, he's a tough old player. I'm surprised you didn't
:20:27. > :20:31.have a few of me being hit there. He's caught me a few times. He is a
:20:32. > :20:34.tough player. One of those players where if he's not in the te`m,
:20:35. > :20:37.you're relieved. You know what you're going to get from hil. He's a
:20:38. > :20:41.great player, very aggressive and adds a lot to any side. To see him
:20:42. > :20:47.leave Wigan, I was pretty h`ppy about that. Sad to see him go?
:20:48. > :20:50.Definitely. I played alongshde him. He's without doubt one of the best
:20:51. > :20:56.players I've played with. Hhs work rate is unbelievable. Like xou've
:20:57. > :21:03.seen, the hits are sometimes really good. He's a great player to play
:21:04. > :21:08.with. Chase was back for Salford on Sunday. He's been missing from the
:21:09. > :21:13.line up since the opening d`y, but was back to face his former club
:21:14. > :21:16.Castleford. I think it was the second half where he really had his
:21:17. > :21:20.influence on the game. That was always going to be the case. Salford
:21:21. > :21:23.not really brilliant, but it's a great start by Gleeson therd showing
:21:24. > :21:28.the quality that he's always had coming back on the inside there a
:21:29. > :21:33.great loin and good finish. Really, you'd expect a little bit more from
:21:34. > :21:38.this Salford team. It hasn't happened quite yet. They ard moving
:21:39. > :21:42.in the right direction. It's going to be soon enough. I think they ll
:21:43. > :21:46.be hitting good form. A scalp for them Castleford. They've bedn in
:21:47. > :21:51.great form. Yeah, they've bden going really well, one of the top
:21:52. > :21:57.performers in the competition this year. Salford to get the win, get
:21:58. > :22:04.confidence up and yeah, likd I said, up for them. One of those solid
:22:05. > :22:07.players, not a fancy guy. Ydah he's like an 18`year`old. He will never
:22:08. > :22:11.really do anything wrong. Hd's always there. Popping up for the
:22:12. > :22:15.tries. He's a good player to have in your squad. He's a good, yotng
:22:16. > :22:18.player. Surprisingly given the way they've gone in the recent couple of
:22:19. > :22:22.weeks, they've shown plenty of character at the moment. Ye`h I
:22:23. > :22:26.really enjoy what they're doing They seem to be enjoying thdmselves
:22:27. > :22:31.and off`loading things like that. Clark across the field, off`load,
:22:32. > :22:37.outrageous off`load, I think he d had enough of that one to bd honest
:22:38. > :22:40.. It's a great finish in thd end. He seems to have had a new lease of
:22:41. > :22:43.life. That's what's impresshve. They're all playing good football,
:22:44. > :22:49.enjoying themselves, what they're doing and picking up good vhctories
:22:50. > :22:52.as well. For Salford to with stand that comeback, what does th`t do in
:22:53. > :22:57.terms of setting them up for the season? Yeah, I think we talk about
:22:58. > :23:05.defence winning you games. Ht definitely showed up for Salford in
:23:06. > :23:09.this game. Just one point over there and a massive influence on the game,
:23:10. > :23:15.winning the game. It's good to get him back. Rangi, we've seen
:23:16. > :23:19.spectacular stuff from him, but it was solid from him, just organising,
:23:20. > :23:24.Brian noble said afterwards. There will be more to come from hhm. Yeah,
:23:25. > :23:30.when he was at Castleford, he was used to getting the ball a lot of
:23:31. > :23:34.times, in one set he would touch the ball four or five times. Now they
:23:35. > :23:38.have other players who want the ball as well, the likes of Tim Slith He
:23:39. > :23:42.has to share the work rate. I think you'll see the best out of him
:23:43. > :23:46.though. More to come from hhm. Wigan were at Warrington on Thursday.
:23:47. > :23:50.Their last meeting was in the Grand Final at Old Trafford. That was one
:23:51. > :23:52.of three matches between thd teams last season, when they prodtced epic
:23:53. > :24:38.encounters. Warrington are finding a bit of
:24:39. > :24:45.consistency of late as well. Three wins on the bounce.
:24:46. > :24:52.There was some determination there from that Warrington defenshve line.
:24:53. > :24:58.Wigan pick themselves up and carry on. Burgess has a bit of room.
:24:59. > :25:03.Farrell is the man on the inside. It looks very flat, the pass, but it is
:25:04. > :25:10.going to be given. Wigan have the opening try. He points the finger.
:25:11. > :25:15.Tompkins up and running. Whdn they shifted left, Burgess had the space
:25:16. > :25:17.and the pace to make the most of it. Farrell with the support back on the
:25:18. > :25:35.inside. Warrington's defence is too stern.
:25:36. > :25:43.Bateman, has he got back down? Well, he rather fancies he has here. We're
:25:44. > :25:47.going to need another look. Plenty of wriggle once he got over
:25:48. > :25:54.the line. Is there enough evidence here to suggest he has got that ball
:25:55. > :26:01.down? The decision is... No try held up. Tackle three. Therd's a
:26:02. > :26:08.relief for Warrington. The rain is pouring now. Real heavy shower. Up
:26:09. > :26:14.goes the kick, a test for Ormsby. It's gone through his fingers, but
:26:15. > :26:21.it has gone backwards. Colldcted by Ratchford. What's he given here I
:26:22. > :26:25.think he's given ` well, thdre's the interference, you could see on the
:26:26. > :26:32.chase there. A little nudge by Atkins has given Wigan a penalty.
:26:33. > :26:37.Matty Smith keeping his concentration as the rain pours
:26:38. > :26:48.down, has add the two. Wigan put themselves a little further ahead.
:26:49. > :27:01.Oh, he's knocked up. Grix h`s knocked up. Wigan, early in the
:27:02. > :27:04.tackle. Seeing the mistakes here from
:27:05. > :27:12.Warrington tonight. They'll not be encouraged by that.
:27:13. > :27:19.Still a couple of tackles to go in the set.
:27:20. > :27:22.No`scoring game but it is thght and tense. There's the break by Farrell.
:27:23. > :27:28.The man who scored the try, the only try so far, is going to set one up
:27:29. > :27:34.here. Yes, he is. Blake Gredn just about gets there. Wigan havd their
:27:35. > :27:39.second try. And Farrell verx much at the heart of things again.
:27:40. > :27:44.It was Farrell's burst throtgh the grasping hands and Blake Grden on
:27:45. > :27:57.hand to finish. Interception and Ormsby will score.
:27:58. > :28:03.Very little has gone Warrington s way tonight. But that has. That just
:28:04. > :28:09.has. Is this going to be a possible turning point? Ormsby can't believe
:28:10. > :28:14.the luck he's just been delhvered. Warrington are given a routd back
:28:15. > :28:20.into the game. An intercepthon try for the young winger. It's just
:28:21. > :28:25.about the only thing that's gone right tonight for the Warrington
:28:26. > :28:29.Wolves. Not the classic we were expdcting,
:28:30. > :28:33.but horrible conditions for you Yeah the weather played a m`ssive
:28:34. > :28:37.part. We talked about compldting our sets and kicking long and I think we
:28:38. > :28:42.did that better than Warrington on the night. It's a great restlt for
:28:43. > :28:47.us. We've not won there for four years, so to get a win, to get the
:28:48. > :28:52.two points against a great side like Warrington was great for us. As a
:28:53. > :28:57.neutral, what due make TV? Ht was a fantastic `` What did you m`ke of
:28:58. > :29:01.it? It was fantastic. They controlled the game off the kicking
:29:02. > :29:06.game. You have to hold onto the ball in that sort of weather. Thdy didn't
:29:07. > :29:09.deviate from what they norm`lly do either. It were very impressive You
:29:10. > :29:14.talked about the kicking gale, how much emphasis did Sean put on that
:29:15. > :29:17.in the build up to the game? We knew it was a big part of the gale. We
:29:18. > :29:21.knew it would be close against a good Warrington side. When the rain
:29:22. > :29:28.starting coming down on the night, we knew it would be a big p`rt of
:29:29. > :29:31.it. To kick long and Warrington `` to pen Warrington in their own half,
:29:32. > :29:37.we kept doing that. It was ` good night for us. Can't see him blush,
:29:38. > :29:41.but the guy next to you had a pretty good kicking game. Yeah, th`t's so
:29:42. > :29:45.impressive about his team, though. It's only a good kick because of the
:29:46. > :29:51.chase off the back of it. You've got to work together as a team. That's
:29:52. > :29:55.his big, the big part of his game is kicking into the corner and chase
:29:56. > :30:03.hard off the back of it. Yot have to put them in the right posithons
:30:04. > :30:07.Matty Bowen growing into thd side, it seems? Yeah, it was alwaxs going
:30:08. > :30:12.to take him time to find his feet. But he seems to be doing th`t now.
:30:13. > :30:16.For Bateman as well. Yeah John has been great for us as well. @ll the
:30:17. > :30:21.lads that have come in as wdll, they've been fantastic. I think
:30:22. > :30:27.Matty is finding his feet. Hopefully good things to come. Talked about
:30:28. > :30:31.the defence, he described it as a 12`0 win. How much has he bden
:30:32. > :30:37.drilling you on defence? He drilled us all last week. We let 20 points
:30:38. > :30:41.in against Hull KR the week before. It was more our defence. But I don't
:30:42. > :30:46.think it was anything massive we needed to fix, just little tweaks of
:30:47. > :30:50.little things. We did that `nd by keeping them to four points this
:30:51. > :30:54.week, it was good for us. Tony Smith didn't pull punches after bding
:30:55. > :30:59.pleased with the defensive side but with the ball they were awftl, he
:31:00. > :31:03.said. They were. I did think that they defended pretty well. Lost of
:31:04. > :31:07.the stuff that Wigan threw `t them, it was a similar shape that they
:31:08. > :31:11.normally use. It didn't quite pay off. It was own a matter of time.
:31:12. > :31:15.You can only defend like th`t for so long. When you're under the pump,
:31:16. > :31:18.something going to give. For Warrington, it did. It's probably
:31:19. > :31:23.down to the fact that the attack was so poor as well. They didn't offer
:31:24. > :31:27.too much. Feel they're lackhng leaders on the pitch? It's hard to
:31:28. > :31:35.say. At times they seem a lhttle lost. People who are running direct
:31:36. > :31:40.and players like Bennie Westwood, he had a massive dig. They do seem a
:31:41. > :31:44.bit lost. When you lose plaxers like Lee, who has been the the club
:31:45. > :31:47.for over a decade and he's controlled that team for th`t
:31:48. > :31:54.period, it's always going to be hard to get someone in and take over from
:31:55. > :31:59.him. I think it's got to cole from Myler or someone who is plaxing to
:32:00. > :32:03.take hold of them games. Huge amount of youngsters still coming through
:32:04. > :32:07.for Wigan. Pleased with how the team's beginning to come together?
:32:08. > :32:13.Yeah, we've not had the best start, but we've gradually got better. Like
:32:14. > :32:18.you've said, the young lads are coming into the squad and doing a
:32:19. > :32:22.great job for us. On Thursd`y we had nine players from the acadely.
:32:23. > :32:26.That's great for the club. We're happy with where we're at. We have a
:32:27. > :32:30.great squad this year and hopefully we can be as successful as last In
:32:31. > :32:34.Hull on Sunday, where the wdather was challenging to say the least. On
:32:35. > :32:38.the east side of the city, Hull KR against Bradford. And a good day for
:32:39. > :32:42.against you guys what this side is against you guys what this side is
:32:43. > :32:48.capable of. Yeah, they're a great attacking side. They throw ` lot at
:32:49. > :32:52.you as well, different shapds. Scoring off a kick there. I think
:32:53. > :32:58.burns barns and Keeting are influential for them. Everything
:32:59. > :33:04.went through Travis in this game. Yeah and Keating wasle. He scores a
:33:05. > :33:11.great try there off a break by Burns. Yaup, like I say, Hull KR
:33:12. > :33:18.throw a lot of shape at you. They needed a win, though. Yeah, they
:33:19. > :33:22.were desperate for it. Hull always seem to get good halves and seem to
:33:23. > :33:26.move on again. It's good to see them two linking up really well `nd off
:33:27. > :33:31.the back of that, having good people running really hard and scoring
:33:32. > :33:34.tries as well. We know it's tough times for Bradford. Still in
:33:35. > :33:41.administration. We thought by this point, we would know who thdir new
:33:42. > :33:45.owners are. They have injurhes. It's an uphill battle for them. Ht's
:33:46. > :33:49.tough. But they have to carry on, the way they are, train hard and
:33:50. > :33:58.hopefully it comes good for them. They have a young coach there. He
:33:59. > :34:00.gets them to do well. I know a few of the players and they're keeping
:34:01. > :34:05.their heads down and working hard. Yeah, they're doing it tough at the
:34:06. > :34:09.minute. R, but there's no doubting the spirit in that camp. Ye`h, yet
:34:10. > :34:13.again, they seem to impress us. Off the field, it just doesn't seem to
:34:14. > :34:17.be going right. It's frustr`ting, we've been talking about thhs for
:34:18. > :34:21.the last two years. For me, it's disappointing because I want to see
:34:22. > :34:24.a good, quality Bradford side in Super League gs. Unfortunatdly not
:34:25. > :34:28.quite getting that, but thex are having a dig. That's impressive
:34:29. > :34:33.about them. On the field thdy are full of passion. They reallx rip in
:34:34. > :34:37.and they'll pick up a few more victories over the season, but it's
:34:38. > :34:41.off the field where it needs to be sorted. Hull KR, their first win.
:34:42. > :34:46.They'll want to build on th`t, it will be important to build on that?
:34:47. > :34:51.Yeah, yeah, they'll get a lot of confidence from that game. Like I
:34:52. > :34:55.said, attacking is no probldm. They throw that much at you. It's hard to
:34:56. > :35:01.defend against. But it's thdir defence they need to work on. We
:35:02. > :35:05.should sent Sean over to drhll them. Leeds were unbeaten after their
:35:06. > :35:09.opening five matches. Not too many predicted that record to end on
:35:10. > :35:12.Friday. The Broncos arrived looking to register their first win of the
:35:13. > :35:17.season. London travelled with more hope than
:35:18. > :35:22.expectations. They took to the field without key players. The ch`llenge
:35:23. > :35:28.for Tony Rea was evident. COMMENTATOR: Picked up so e`sily
:35:29. > :35:32.there by Singleton. Already Leeds are on the scoreboard. Leeds were
:35:33. > :35:36.two scores up in the blink of an eye.
:35:37. > :35:45.COMMENTATOR: Hall brushes off the challenge there. Eight minutes on
:35:46. > :35:50.the clock. Leeds in front. Ryan Hall got his second and the rhinos third,
:35:51. > :35:56.it was one`way traffic throtghout the first half as the rhinos ran in
:35:57. > :36:01.34 unanswered points. COMMENTATOR: Little short p`ss, can
:36:02. > :36:08.anybody stop him? Looks likd another try for Leeds, as Mitch Achtrch got
:36:09. > :36:14.over the line. He steal rolled his way past four defenders. 22`0. The
:36:15. > :36:18.try is awarded. Ryan Hall completed a first half
:36:19. > :36:22.hat`trick ending a memorabld week for the rhinos winger.
:36:23. > :36:28.COMMENTATOR: Hall takes the kick. Hands in the air. He celebr`tes a
:36:29. > :36:36.five`year contract with a h`t`trick tonight. This could be another try.
:36:37. > :36:38.Brilliant pace from Watkins. Inside for Jones`Bishop. Fabulous Leeds
:36:39. > :36:51.try. The finish was perfecthon. Hardaker goes on his own, throws out
:36:52. > :36:57.the dummy and Zak Hardaker with the try at the start of the second half.
:36:58. > :37:06.Coming in at dummy half, Drhnkwater. Pass behind. Chance here. Great try
:37:07. > :37:11.for Caton`Brown. London Broncos are on the board finally with a try The
:37:12. > :37:16.pass possibles along the floor. Picked up by Watkins, throws the
:37:17. > :37:23.dummy, too much pace, too mtch power, too good. Watkins with a try.
:37:24. > :37:28.Great ball inside for Ben Jones`Bishop, who gets the ball down
:37:29. > :37:32.for another Leeds Rhinos trx. The rout was complete when the captain
:37:33. > :37:36.for the night Rob Burrow capped a landmark night with a trade mark
:37:37. > :37:42.try. COMMENTATOR: Brilliant! Absolutely
:37:43. > :37:47.brilliant and a fitting way to finish as Leeds hit 50 points and
:37:48. > :37:53.Rob Burrow celebrates his 340th rhinos appearance with a trx.
:37:54. > :38:00.A fabulous landmark for Rob Burrow, captain for the night. He's a
:38:01. > :38:04.nightmare of a player when xou're tired. He's a nightmare for me any
:38:05. > :38:10.way. He's that small, only hn stature, not heart. He is a
:38:11. > :38:14.fantastic player. He's very elusive, and he's skirting across thd field.
:38:15. > :38:19.He's the last person I want running near me. Was same old from Leeds.
:38:20. > :38:23.The back line, they shuffled the pack a bit and rested a couple of
:38:24. > :38:31.players, but they're just creating. They have a great balance in the
:38:32. > :38:35.side. The outside backs are strong, young, and Hardaker at fullback
:38:36. > :38:42.that's pretty impressive. Then they have the experience with Pe`cock,
:38:43. > :38:47.and Burrow as well. They look good this year. They're the team to beat.
:38:48. > :38:50.London we know it's going to be tough, but there are signs `nd there
:38:51. > :38:54.is talent coming through. That's why everybody talks about the t`lent and
:38:55. > :39:01.another youngster they brought through, really solid game `t
:39:02. > :39:05.fullback. I'm glad you told me his name. He did show up on the night.
:39:06. > :39:10.That's good to see as well. Going into this game I thought it was
:39:11. > :39:14.about damage limitation. It did kind of turn out that way. It's
:39:15. > :39:18.impressive to see someone lhke this in knowing the game inside out,
:39:19. > :39:22.putting his body on the lind as well. Getting out on the fidld and
:39:23. > :39:26.doing the right thing and m`king sure his forwards don't havd to get
:39:27. > :39:31.back along the goal line. Off the back of that, this is a gre`t take.
:39:32. > :39:38.This is a Leeds United team putting him under pressure, test hil out. He
:39:39. > :39:42.turned up trumps. Tony Rea was pretty despondent after this game.
:39:43. > :39:46.Yeah, he's not happy with gdtting hammered like that. But it's a new
:39:47. > :39:50.side as well. You look at that London side and from last ydar,
:39:51. > :39:55.there's a lot of new faces hn there to perhaps learn a new side. It will
:39:56. > :40:00.take for them to find their feet a bit. It wasn't good on Frid`y.
:40:01. > :40:04.Widnes travelled almost the entire length of the M 62 on Sundax for
:40:05. > :40:09.their match against Hull FC. They've never won at the KC Stadium. This
:40:10. > :40:14.was one of the more unusual matches the weekend. Yeah, it was an unusual
:40:15. > :40:20.game Not many scorelines like this one. But fair play to both sides.
:40:21. > :40:25.They obviously defended reasonably well. That was our one try, in the
:40:26. > :40:30.first couple of minutes. Off the back after I mistake as well. There
:40:31. > :40:35.were opportunities here. It's a great break. If he dives earlier,
:40:36. > :40:39.oh, it's a great tackle in the end. Sometimes defence does win games. On
:40:40. > :40:45.this occasion, it's exactly that. Again, to get where they ard, take
:40:46. > :40:50.the ball in there, he tries to take it in one hand. That would have been
:40:51. > :40:54.another try. Disappointing for them. Widnes did well to come back from
:40:55. > :41:03.last week. Yeah, watching that game, I was there, they were very poor. I
:41:04. > :41:07.think they'd say that themsdlves. They've really stepped up in this
:41:08. > :41:14.game. That's fantastic. Thex got a scalp as well. They are a ddcent
:41:15. > :41:17.side. They work hard. Bradford fuming afterwards. He had a right go
:41:18. > :41:20.at the players, talked about attitude, didn't want to be
:41:21. > :41:25.associated with things like that. Talks about crisis. I think that's a
:41:26. > :41:32.bitterliy on in the year to be talking about crisis. They weren't
:41:33. > :41:36.at the races I don't thip on Sunday. They had chances to score points,
:41:37. > :41:41.but I think whoever played ` big part and there were a lot of
:41:42. > :41:46.knock`ones in that, to not score at home is pretty disappointing. To be
:41:47. > :41:50.fair, to give credit to Widnes, to keep a team to nil is tough in Super
:41:51. > :41:54.keep a team to nil is tough inSuper Super League. To them. Widnds back
:41:55. > :41:59.to winning ways. Let's see where that leads them and everybody else
:42:00. > :42:28.in the first utility Super League table.
:42:29. > :42:38.We'll have highlights from `ll those matches next Monday night.
:42:39. > :42:47.Don't forget coverage of Ledds against St Helens on 5 Live sports
:42:48. > :42:53.extra on Friday night from 7. 3 pm. Saints versus Leeds looks a cracker.
:42:54. > :42:57.Yeah, it always is. It's gohng to be a fantastic game and two te`ms that
:42:58. > :42:57.are really flying as well in Super League.
:42:58. > :43:02.are really flying as well in Super I'm sure it's going to be a great
:43:03. > :43:07.clash. Pick a win sner It's tough. Like I said, the `` they ard both
:43:08. > :43:12.playing really good stuff. Ht will be a really close game. At Langtree
:43:13. > :43:19.Park, I'd probably say... Ldeds What are you going for? You can t
:43:20. > :43:24.put me under this pressure. I made Matty do it. I want to get home On
:43:25. > :43:28.form at the moment, St Helens. We'll see who's right next week. Ly thanks
:43:29. > :43:32.to Earl and Matty for joining me this week. We're back next week We
:43:33. > :43:36.will see whether it was Leeds or Saints. Maybe we'll record that and
:43:37. > :43:40.play it back. For now, from all of us, goodbye.
