0:00:37 > 0:00:39Hello, Super League's been back on familiar ground after the big

0:00:40 > 0:00:41weekend away in Newcastle.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43It wasn't a happy holiday for everyone in the North-East,

0:00:43 > 0:00:46but there was magic for many at St James' Park.

0:00:56 > 0:01:01# Some people lie but they're looking for magic.

0:01:01 > 0:01:06# Others are quietly going insane.

0:01:06 > 0:01:11# I feel alive when I'm close to madness.

0:01:11 > 0:01:17# No easy love could ever make me feel the same.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19What a finish!

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Crowd stands still.

0:01:27 > 0:01:28It is a sweeping move.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30And a twist that has got him over.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34And the winger scores.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43And as the magic fades, the Wakefield captain Danny Kirmond,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and three time Grand Final winner Brian Noble are here to discuss

0:01:45 > 0:01:46Super League's latest tricks.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Round 16 kicked-off with Castleford against Wigan, and watching

0:01:49 > 0:01:49at The Jungle was Dave Woods.

0:01:49 > 0:01:54at The Jungle was Dave Woods.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Powell wants to get on with things here.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01On the feet of Willie Isa.

0:02:01 > 0:02:02Crosby.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03With a push and shove.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06And taking Wigan to within 11 strides of the

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Castleford line.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09Powell.

0:02:09 > 0:02:10Goes left.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Williams, with the good pass wide.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14And the finish from Charnley.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Excellent pass though.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20From George Williams.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Jewitt not happy, Castleford playing on, it is Millington!

0:02:27 > 0:02:32Millington skips away from a couple of tacklers.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35He has been in scintillating form this season, playing

0:02:35 > 0:02:37at prop at stand-off.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41And Castleford have got a great position here as result.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Dorn gets a pass away and Paul McShane is over.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Less than ten minutes played,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50it is a try apiece.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53Milner.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Gale.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Sending it high and downfield here.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Caught by Manfredi.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05He has done well to evade the first two and a clattering challenge.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07The knock-on by Gildart.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11Play on, says the referee.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15It is another set of six.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18So the set starts from here.

0:03:19 > 0:03:20But it is a penalty.

0:03:23 > 0:03:24Sam Tomkins.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37Gale getting a telling off from the referee, but it is

0:03:37 > 0:03:38a penalty for Castleford.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Gale adds two and Castleford take that two points

0:03:44 > 0:03:46lead.

0:03:46 > 0:03:488-6.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53Tomkins.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58Effort right down the middle by Powell.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Up at dummy half and Wigan find themselves only ten away.

0:04:01 > 0:04:02But only one tackle to go.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05That is a lovely little ball slid through by Smith.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08And instinctively Sam Tomkins is there to score.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10His second try since his return.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15He is getting that feeling back.

0:04:19 > 0:04:20Milner moves in.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24Here's Cook.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27Trying to hold it up.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31Wigan defenders responding with sheer determination.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Milner again.

0:04:35 > 0:04:40Gale, that is a terrific pass from Luke Gale and Solomona!

0:04:40 > 0:04:43He doesn't miss opportunities like that, does he?

0:04:43 > 0:04:46He is a try scoring machine and when he is getting service

0:04:46 > 0:04:51of the quality he has just had, who is to wonder why?

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Tomkins.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Williams.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01Little bobble ball back on the inside.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05Bateman.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Penalty.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11It is getting lively.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14Luke Dorn not happy with the treatment Bateman

0:05:14 > 0:05:18was giving to one of his team-mates on the floor.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Listen, you could have caused a horrendous situation then.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37We had a punch thrown but just think on, you're lucky it didn't

0:05:37 > 0:05:38cause anything else.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40No, no, you listen.

0:05:40 > 0:05:41I'm doing the talking.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43You keep quiet.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46The whistle blows, you get away.

0:05:46 > 0:05:50Come here, listen.

0:05:50 > 0:05:51There's no need to talk.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54At this particular time I'm telling you what's going off, right?

0:05:54 > 0:06:00We've got interference and we've got your man running in.

0:06:00 > 0:06:02You sort your players out and I'll sort...

0:06:02 > 0:06:03Get over there, right.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06Player dismissed.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13Castleford have had their lecture.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Left in no uncertain terms there, were they!

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Matty Smith looking to add a couple of points here.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28That should give Wigan the half-time lead.

0:06:28 > 0:06:29Over it goes.

0:06:29 > 0:06:36It is Castleford 12, Wigan 14.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38Well, the hooter sounds.

0:06:38 > 0:06:48Castleford have one last chance maybe to attack this Wigan line.

0:06:48 > 0:06:49That is knocked on.

0:06:49 > 0:06:50Gildart slides in.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52Well, it looked like from an offside position there.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54But the referee blows the whistle.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56And it is a yellow card for John Jake Webster

0:06:56 > 0:06:58because Webster came running across and made

0:06:58 > 0:07:02a very vociferous enquiry.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Wigan looking to run it away.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11That is good from Manfredi!

0:07:11 > 0:07:12He passed the line.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15What a glittering run this is.

0:07:15 > 0:07:19Up and beyond the 40 metre line inside his opponents' half.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Good play by the winger.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24Gildart in a dummy half.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28Williams shuffling forward again.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Isa.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33Tautai.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37Wigan looking to create space on the right hand side.

0:07:37 > 0:07:42For the man who started it, is the man who will finish it.

0:07:42 > 0:07:50Three minutes into the second half.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51Milner.

0:07:51 > 0:07:58Fluent through the hands here.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00Crooks with a little ball back on the inside.

0:08:00 > 0:08:05Paddy Flynn will go hunting for a space down the middle.

0:08:05 > 0:08:10His hand in the face there, of Powell.

0:08:10 > 0:08:12And get something in return, because it is a penalty

0:08:12 > 0:08:17here for Castleford.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19Having a push and shove, I think there was some sort

0:08:20 > 0:08:24of retribution dealt there.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28So Luke Gale will bring you back now within six points and Jake Webster

0:08:28 > 0:08:31is back on the field as well.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40Shaping up nicely here, Sarginson with a pass away,

0:08:40 > 0:08:44and a slide for Charnley!

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Well, he did well to finish there.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50It is worth the question.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53He thinks it is a try.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56Quite clearly his feet were very dangerously close to the whitewash.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59So the referee has to ask the question here.

0:08:59 > 0:09:03And I think you can see there it is a matter of millimetres

0:09:03 > 0:09:06almost that the ball has hit the white line before the feet hit

0:09:06 > 0:09:07the other white line.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09And a try given for Josh Charnley.

0:09:09 > 0:09:10Wigan with a healthy lead.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22Back on the inside goes Williams.

0:09:22 > 0:09:23Almost getting through!

0:09:23 > 0:09:27Webster with the recovery tackle.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30Then a second attempt has given Wigan a penalty.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Another little bit of a push by Cook.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44If they kick this, Smith puts it over, the leaders have 14 points,

0:09:44 > 0:09:45which means Castleford are three scores behind.

0:09:45 > 0:09:46He has!

0:09:46 > 0:09:48It is 28-14.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53McShane.

0:09:53 > 0:09:57Gale.

0:09:57 > 0:09:58Webster.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00Webster!

0:10:00 > 0:10:04Jake Webster in unstoppable mood.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06He is like a charging bull.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09When he sees an opportunity.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11And Castleford are right back in the contest again.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20Powell goes right.

0:10:20 > 0:10:21Kick goes high.

0:10:21 > 0:10:22Not a lot of distance on it.

0:10:22 > 0:10:25Where is it coming down?

0:10:25 > 0:10:29It is caught and kicked on here by Powell!

0:10:29 > 0:10:30Who will claim it.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32There's got to be a question about it.

0:10:32 > 0:10:37Got to be a question of the knock-on.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40He thinks try.

0:10:40 > 0:10:45Thinks the ball has gone backwards.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48So the video referee has a look.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51That long-range angle would suggest that maybe, yes it has.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Let's have a look here.

0:10:54 > 0:10:59He is dragging the ball to his body here.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03And it does seem to fall backwards, doesn't it?

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Not the tidiest, but perfectly legal.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Gildart's contribution just allows the play on.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11Powell kicks it on.

0:11:11 > 0:11:16What is the finish like here?

0:11:16 > 0:11:17You, nothing wrong with that.

0:11:17 > 0:11:19So it should be a try.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22And Sam Powell is given the try.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24And Wigan back to two scores in the lead.

0:11:29 > 0:11:39McMeekin.

0:11:42 > 0:11:43McMeekin.

0:11:43 > 0:11:44Gale.

0:11:44 > 0:11:45Moors.

0:11:45 > 0:11:52Flanking run here by Dorn who passes on to Solomona.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55To finish for the second time but hang on, here we go again.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57You would normally back Solomona to score these.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00And if you backed him this time you would be on a winner

0:12:00 > 0:12:02because that looks absolutely perfect, no questions

0:12:02 > 0:12:03about that whatsoever.

0:12:03 > 0:12:04The try is given.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06And Castleford are making a contest of it again.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08It is going to be a grandstand finish.

0:12:08 > 0:12:09Powell.

0:12:09 > 0:12:10Dummy away!

0:12:10 > 0:12:12Powell to win it here, surely!

0:12:12 > 0:12:15Just drags down.

0:12:15 > 0:12:16Tomkins.

0:12:16 > 0:12:17Quick to dummy half.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19They're looking for the drop goal.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22Matty Smith, his fifth drop goal of the season!

0:12:22 > 0:12:24He keeps producing these vital one pointers and that

0:12:24 > 0:12:30looks like a winner.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33Danny, you were at the game for BBC Radio 5 live.

0:12:33 > 0:12:37What did you make of it overall?

0:12:37 > 0:12:39I just think you could tell the emphasis that Wigan

0:12:39 > 0:12:42had put into the game, how important it was to Shaun Wane

0:12:42 > 0:12:43and to his team as well.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46He talked about how they have changed the dimensions

0:12:46 > 0:12:49of the training field and things like that in the week.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52They had had a couple of bad results at Castleford over

0:12:52 > 0:12:53the last couple of seasons.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56So I think you could tell the intent was there from them

0:12:56 > 0:12:59and they were outclassed really, for me.

0:12:59 > 0:13:02And for Castleford, they had some really good wins away from home.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04But in Super League three consecutive home defeats.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06How much will that be worrying Darryl?

0:13:06 > 0:13:08Not too much, because their form was not bad,

0:13:08 > 0:13:10it was a cracking game of rugby.

0:13:10 > 0:13:11It could have gone either way.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13But for a few decisions.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15I do not think he will be overly concerned.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18I think there are a couple of things in the players' control

0:13:18 > 0:13:19they want to fix up.

0:13:19 > 0:13:20But they are in good form and I think it was because Wigan

0:13:25 > 0:13:29And are we beginning to see Wigan with some of the stars back,

0:13:29 > 0:13:32really properly moving forward now and what we might be able to see

0:13:32 > 0:13:35as we get to the business end of the season?

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Yeah, I think definitely having the two half-backs back together

0:13:37 > 0:13:38is massive for them.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41And I think you can see them getting better and better each week.

0:13:41 > 0:13:45Sam Tomkins, his return as well, he has obviously been out for a long

0:13:45 > 0:13:46time with his knee injury.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49I think you can see week in, week out, how he's getting better.

0:13:49 > 0:13:51And more confident in his knee as well.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53So they're definitely coming good towards the most important

0:13:53 > 0:13:55time of the season.

0:13:55 > 0:14:00Daryl very unusually for him, had a right go at Ben Thaler.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03And he was particularly unhappy with the manner in which Ben Thalor

0:14:03 > 0:14:05was talking to his players.

0:14:05 > 0:14:06What did you make of it?

0:14:06 > 0:14:09I think there's a heck of a lot of scrutiny in this

0:14:09 > 0:14:10game, isn't there?

0:14:10 > 0:14:13Sometimes we watch these things and listen to these

0:14:13 > 0:14:15things and we know more than sometimes the referee does

0:14:15 > 0:14:16in that split second.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19But nobody has got the right, I think you generally get

0:14:19 > 0:14:21responded to in the manner in which you approach somebody

0:14:21 > 0:14:24and I think there were a lot of Castleford players having

0:14:24 > 0:14:26a little bit of a pop at Ben Thaler.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28And I think he had just had enough, really.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31It got to the point there, we saw some of the highlights,

0:14:31 > 0:14:34he said right, go away, I don't want to speak to you.

0:14:34 > 0:14:35It got to that stage.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38But I think it is a pressure and the scrutiny that comes,

0:14:38 > 0:14:41an odd decision can change the course of the game in Super

0:14:41 > 0:14:42League.

0:14:42 > 0:14:43That has always been the case.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46I just think it is about holding your nerve, certainly as a place

0:14:46 > 0:14:48to Castleford and Daryl will be disappointed

0:14:48 > 0:14:49with a couple of the decisions.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52But that doesn't give his players the right to approach the referee

0:14:52 > 0:14:53in the manner they did.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55So he probably responded in the same manner.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58So six of one and half a dozen of the other, really.

0:14:58 > 0:15:02From a player's point of view, if it is getting a little bit fiery,

0:15:02 > 0:15:05how do you want the referee to be with you, as players?

0:15:05 > 0:15:08I don't mind personally the way Ben spoke to the players.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10I think if you are approaching him in an aggressive manner and pretty

0:15:10 > 0:15:13irate, he's probably going to be the same with you.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16At the end of the day he is in charge of that

0:15:16 > 0:15:18game and he has got to keep control of it.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21If he sees fit to talk to you like that, then you have

0:15:21 > 0:15:23sometimes got to take it on the chin.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25But generally if you talk to the referees with respect,

0:15:25 > 0:15:27they will be respectful back to you.

0:15:27 > 0:15:28I find

0:15:28 > 0:15:31the relationship normally with the referees is a simple one.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34There has been a little bit of a trend of coaches coming out

0:15:34 > 0:15:37in recent weeks and having a right old blast at the referees.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39Is that because they have to do it through the media,

0:15:39 > 0:15:42that they feel they pick up the phone on Monday morning

0:15:42 > 0:15:45and it is not going the way they want, or is it something that

0:15:45 > 0:15:47needs to be clamped down on?

0:15:47 > 0:15:49Daryl said I know I'm going to get fined for this, but

0:15:50 > 0:15:51I've got to say it.

0:15:51 > 0:15:53I can only speak from personal experience when I have

0:15:53 > 0:15:55been in their position, it is quite frustrating

0:15:55 > 0:15:57if you certainly don't get the answers you think you deserve.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00And all of these coaches, as well as the referees,

0:16:00 > 0:16:03let's give due to the referees, they try to be meticulous

0:16:03 > 0:16:04in their preparation.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06You know, I mentioned scrutiny before, the clinical detail

0:16:06 > 0:16:09in which coaches look at things and change the course of games,

0:16:09 > 0:16:11a couple of decisions there are quite debatable.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13They could have gone another way which would have helped Castleford.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16So that kind of pressure and that builds up through the year,

0:16:16 > 0:16:19if you get frustrated by not getting the answers you want or course

0:16:19 > 0:16:21of action that you agree with from these referees,

0:16:21 > 0:16:22then it is frustrating.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25And you get that sense of despair and that sense of well,

0:16:25 > 0:16:28what's the point, you know, what's the point of going

0:16:28 > 0:16:29through the channels.

0:16:29 > 0:16:30I need some answers here.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Rather than just a bit of lip service.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34So there is the frustration element of it.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37To compensate with that, sometimes, that was a brilliant game,

0:16:37 > 0:16:39and down the Jungle anyway it is a great atmosphere.

0:16:39 > 0:16:43So they're coming off thinking, we have done this, done this.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45I suppose if you're given a cool off period.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48I always had a thing, if the coaches proved to be right,

0:16:48 > 0:16:50there should be no fine and no question.

0:16:50 > 0:16:51But it doesn't seem to work that way.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53You were always right, weren't you, Brian!

0:16:53 > 0:16:56In your day!

0:16:56 > 0:17:00Well, let's move on.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02The leaders going into the round were Hull FC.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05They were looking to keep their noses in front at the top

0:17:05 > 0:17:07of the table when they faced St Helens on Saturday.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10The commentator for this one is Matt Newsum.

0:17:10 > 0:17:12Taylor onto Watts.

0:17:12 > 0:17:13Great little step through the line.

0:17:13 > 0:17:14Flicks the ball away to Ellis.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16What a finish!

0:17:16 > 0:17:17Hull move in front.

0:17:17 > 0:17:22Roaming the line again.

0:17:22 > 0:17:23A little wrap around play to Sneyd.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Sneyd to Fonua!

0:17:25 > 0:17:27Too easy!

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Hull double the lead.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34Saints with a bit of field position here.

0:17:34 > 0:17:35Wilkin to Lomax.

0:17:35 > 0:17:36Great cut out ball.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38To the corner for Swift.

0:17:38 > 0:17:39Plenty to do.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41And he did it, too.

0:17:41 > 0:17:46Great finish, Adam Swift.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48Yet more pressure on the line.

0:17:48 > 0:17:49Wilkin.

0:17:49 > 0:17:50Fage.

0:17:50 > 0:17:51To Lomax!

0:17:51 > 0:17:52Back-to-back scores.

0:17:52 > 0:17:56Saint Helens in it.

0:17:56 > 0:18:00Having come back from two tries down, they might well be

0:18:00 > 0:18:02in here again with Atelea Vea.

0:18:02 > 0:18:07Hull complain to the referee.

0:18:07 > 0:18:08Houghton.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Washbrook.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12Slick move.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14Fave scampers through.

0:18:14 > 0:18:18Hull back in the game.

0:18:18 > 0:18:19Hamilton.

0:18:19 > 0:18:20To Tuimavave.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22Teasing kick, back against the grain.

0:18:22 > 0:18:26Amos fumbled it and Scott Taylor is there for Hull.

0:18:26 > 0:18:31They edge further ahead.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34Saints, have they got a route back into the game?

0:18:34 > 0:18:35Wilkin.

0:18:35 > 0:18:36Out the back to Fage.

0:18:36 > 0:18:37Down this left hand side.

0:18:37 > 0:18:38Great little hands to Ashworth.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40Can he get it down?

0:18:40 > 0:18:41Yes, he does.

0:18:41 > 0:18:44There was a swarm of players.

0:18:44 > 0:18:47But the referee will go to the touch judge.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49What is the decision?

0:18:49 > 0:18:53Have St Helens prised their way back into the game?

0:18:53 > 0:18:58Yes, they have.

0:18:58 > 0:18:59Jack Ashworth.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01Goal line drop out for Saints.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04Under pressure, looking for the short one, but it's gone

0:19:04 > 0:19:05straight to Danny Washbrook.

0:19:05 > 0:19:09And he has slipped away from Turner, and the kick here for Hull!

0:19:09 > 0:19:12They have passed another big test at the top of the table.

0:19:12 > 0:19:20And there goes Scott Taylor, great leap.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22Credit to them, really, for hanging in there like they did.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25I thought 20 minutes gone we had all the momentum and something

0:19:25 > 0:19:28we haven't done this year, we didn't capitalise on that momentum.

0:19:28 > 0:19:33And almost got punished for that.

0:19:33 > 0:19:37So to see them come back at the end like that and close the game out

0:19:37 > 0:19:39like they did is pleasing.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41We deserved something out of the game, that

0:19:41 > 0:19:42was my own personal view.

0:19:42 > 0:19:46We definitely deserved something.

0:19:46 > 0:19:50It is a bitter pill to swallow, but you have just got to move on.

0:19:50 > 0:19:53Like I said, it is all about improving and trying to get

0:19:53 > 0:19:54consistently performing the same every week.

0:19:54 > 0:19:57And if we can do that, if we can bring that to the party,

0:19:57 > 0:20:01the effort we brought today, if we can bring that to the party

0:20:01 > 0:20:03every week then we're not going to be far short.

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Danny, Hull FC are looking comfortable now at being at the top

0:20:06 > 0:20:08and winning those kind of games.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11How important to be able to withstand a comeback like that

0:20:11 > 0:20:14and come out on top?

0:20:14 > 0:20:17Yeah, again, it is the character they are showing, for me.

0:20:17 > 0:20:19Obviously all these big stars are performing well

0:20:19 > 0:20:21week in, week out.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23But I think the leadership in there that they've

0:20:23 > 0:20:25got from the likes of Gareth Ellis and Minichiello.

0:20:25 > 0:20:27They are leading the team forward.

0:20:27 > 0:20:29And when you get in a difficult situation like that,

0:20:29 > 0:20:32they have been in front and gone behind to St Helens,

0:20:32 > 0:20:34they are the kind of guys you need in there.

0:20:34 > 0:20:36They've got some real grafters that are impressing me,

0:20:36 > 0:20:39for one Danny Washbrook, who left us last year.

0:20:39 > 0:20:44For me he's one of the people that don't get much of the glory.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47But he has really added a lot to that Hull FC team.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49Let's stay with Danny Washbrook, who scored a try.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53Scott Taylor has been in fantastic form as well,

0:20:53 > 0:20:55I suppose one of those grafters.

0:20:55 > 0:20:59What you make of his celebration though, when Washbrook goes over?

0:20:59 > 0:21:03He could be in the GB team for Rio with that vault!

0:21:03 > 0:21:05Great celebration, shows how much it means to them.

0:21:05 > 0:21:06There you go!

0:21:06 > 0:21:09That was a bit of a twist as well.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13He might get on the parallel bars as well if he keeps working on it!

0:21:13 > 0:21:15That is a big bloke to do that.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17And St Helens, I mean Kieron obviously disappointed,

0:21:17 > 0:21:22but improvements from last week, which he would have wanted.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25I think what will disappoint Kieron the most is the hot and cold nature

0:21:25 > 0:21:26of the wayt Saints played.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29Any other day, if it hadn't been for Hull's resilience,

0:21:29 > 0:21:31they probably would have got over the line.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33It is just that element of inconsistency, they're having

0:21:33 > 0:21:36patches of really good play, Lomax jacking into the line and Fage

0:21:36 > 0:21:39has looked great at times.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41Then they're just dropping off in games and getting

0:21:41 > 0:21:44caught out a little bit and I think Kieron's frustration,

0:21:44 > 0:21:49you can clearly see.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51When they're playing the way he wants them to play,

0:21:51 > 0:21:53if they can add that, I think most teams look

0:21:53 > 0:21:54for this, don't they?

0:21:54 > 0:21:58If they can add that element of consistency to the game for 80

0:21:58 > 0:21:59minutes you would see a different result.

0:21:59 > 0:22:01Wakefield have beaten Wigan, Warrington and

0:22:01 > 0:22:02Catalan in recent weeks.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04Their tremendous form has lifted them into the top eight.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07It's been a great run, Danny, so what happened at Salford?

0:22:07 > 0:22:09We started quite fine.

0:22:09 > 0:22:12We put a lot of emphasis over the last three weeks on getting some

0:22:12 > 0:22:14wins against the top four teams.

0:22:14 > 0:22:17I think it was important that we backed up against Salford.

0:22:17 > 0:22:20I think the pressure probably just got to us a little bit.

0:22:20 > 0:22:22And to be fair to Salford, they played great.

0:22:22 > 0:22:25And I think a lot of people don't do them justice.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27You know, as they didn't have the six points taken off,

0:22:27 > 0:22:30they would be right up where we are in the table as well.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32And what about your sin-binning?

0:22:32 > 0:22:34Never too good at football at school!

0:22:34 > 0:22:36Just wrong-footed me there, George Griffin.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39It is nothing malicious but, you know, I'm going to have to take

0:22:39 > 0:22:41a week for that one I think.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Ryan Manning got that from Ian Watson.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46What do you make of this young man?

0:22:46 > 0:22:47In and out, fabulous footwork.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50And good speed.

0:22:50 > 0:22:52Pretty much with ease there, showing his credentials,

0:22:52 > 0:22:57a young bloke coming into the team and has done really well.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00At times I guess you where your own worst enemies, we have got

0:23:00 > 0:23:02Ben Jones-Bishop also going in the sin-bin.

0:23:02 > 0:23:03It does make it pretty hard for you.

0:23:03 > 0:23:04It definitely did.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07And to be down to 11 men against a team like Salford,

0:23:07 > 0:23:09they've got two great halves gathering around

0:23:09 > 0:23:10the field really well.

0:23:10 > 0:23:12And you know Michael Dobson is probably one

0:23:12 > 0:23:13of the smartest out there.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16So if you have got 11 men he is going to find

0:23:16 > 0:23:18a few gaps in there.

0:23:18 > 0:23:21But not only that, it takes a lot of energy away from the rest

0:23:21 > 0:23:23of the team that are on there.

0:23:23 > 0:23:24And doing the hard work.

0:23:24 > 0:23:27And you could see that probably got to us a little bit at the end

0:23:27 > 0:23:28of the game.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31And Salford in the last couple of weeks, despite distractions

0:23:31 > 0:23:34going on off the pitch, they have let the play do the talking.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37How big an achievement to come back to the form they have,

0:23:37 > 0:23:38given the six points docked?

0:23:38 > 0:23:40And some of the stuff that is swirling around them?

0:23:40 > 0:23:41They are a team.

0:23:41 > 0:23:45And our viewers will understand that when they have seen them this year,

0:23:45 > 0:23:47they have gone close with a lot of teams,

0:23:47 > 0:23:49they have been unfortunately beaten and they have very

0:23:49 > 0:23:50rarely not rocked up.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52I think it is a disappointing effort at some stage,

0:23:52 > 0:23:55but here when they have Lui in the team and Dobson,

0:23:55 > 0:23:57and they have got some really good work horses.

0:23:57 > 0:23:59The young boy Lannon, Walnes and Griffin,

0:23:59 > 0:24:00and things like this.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03And if you go to Salford, you have got to be on your mettle.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06And Danny kind of tipped up there, a flat start.

0:24:06 > 0:24:09It is hard to climb that mountain if you go down against Salford.

0:24:09 > 0:24:13So what do you think Salford can go on and do this year?

0:24:13 > 0:24:15I think obviously they're going to be trying to

0:24:15 > 0:24:16get a few points back.

0:24:16 > 0:24:18So that will put them right back for the eighth.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21But I think on the day they are as dangerous

0:24:21 > 0:24:22as anyone, really.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25They have got a lot of strikes out wide with the background,

0:24:25 > 0:24:27Junior Sau scoring as many tries as anyone.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29And on the back of the half-backs pairing they have got now

0:24:29 > 0:24:32with Rob Lui and Dobson, they can go as far as

0:24:32 > 0:24:33they want to go, really.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36And for yourselves obviously you have got to pick yourself up,

0:24:36 > 0:24:37dust yourself down.

0:24:37 > 0:24:38Not a familiar feeling for you.

0:24:38 > 0:24:42No, it is not, but it is one we have falsely been in before.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45We knew we were not going to go the rest of the season

0:24:45 > 0:24:46winning every game.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49So it is important that we bounce back in the right manner this week.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51And it is a massive game again for us against Hull KR.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56The last Super League team to take on our last tackle

0:24:56 > 0:24:57challenge are Leeds.

0:24:57 > 0:25:01Here's some things you might like to know, and one or two things

0:25:01 > 0:25:10you probably don't want to know, about the Rhinos.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13It would be somebody big and take up loads of room.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15The biggest one we've got is probably Mitch Garbutt.

0:25:15 > 0:25:16Probably Mitch Garbutt.

0:25:16 > 0:25:18All he would be thinking about is food.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22He is just a hairy man, isn't he, and I should imagine it

0:25:22 > 0:25:23gets warm in them lifts.

0:25:23 > 0:25:27And the smell would probably become unbearable!

0:25:27 > 0:25:30Rob Burrow, because he is a serial pest.

0:25:30 > 0:25:33Originally I thought it would be Carl Ablett just because

0:25:33 > 0:25:34of how cranky he is.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37But the more I thought about it, it would definitely be Rob Burrow.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40Because even though he is small and it would be quite comfortable

0:25:40 > 0:25:43because of how small he is in the lift, some bad smells

0:25:43 > 0:25:47come out of that kid's butt.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50I think Ryan Hall would like me to say him and I think

0:25:50 > 0:25:52Jamie Jones-Buchanan is probably expecting me to say him.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55For Rubik's cubes, Ryan Hall, but for anything else probably Jamie

0:25:55 > 0:25:57Jones.

0:25:57 > 0:25:59I'm going to say Brad Singleton.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01You get to know the kid, he is pretty smart.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03Brainiest team-mate is a bit of a contradiction, really,

0:26:03 > 0:26:06a paradox, Ryan Hall has an IQ of about 200.

0:26:06 > 0:26:07Literally.

0:26:07 > 0:26:08Did his A-levels in year 11.

0:26:08 > 0:26:10Mathematically very brainy, but no common sense whatsoever.

0:26:10 > 0:26:12Yeah, have a conversation with him, it's like talking

0:26:12 > 0:26:13to an eight-year-old.

0:26:13 > 0:26:15No common sense whatsoever.

0:26:15 > 0:26:16Ryan Hall, maths.

0:26:16 > 0:26:19Jamie Jones, astronomy.

0:26:19 > 0:26:25And Mitch Garbutt for food choice.

0:26:25 > 0:26:29Who thinks he's the best looking player at the club?

0:26:29 > 0:26:30Definitely Stevie Ward.

0:26:30 > 0:26:32By far.

0:26:32 > 0:26:34Can you say yourself?

0:26:34 > 0:26:35I'm joking, that is a joke.

0:26:35 > 0:26:36Stevie Ward.

0:26:36 > 0:26:39We all get a buzz out of Stevie Ward, he

0:26:39 > 0:26:42thinks he is a sort.

0:26:42 > 0:26:45Tries to wear clothes like David Beckham.

0:26:45 > 0:26:48But has a hint of a look of David Brent.

0:26:48 > 0:26:50We've got an ugly team, to be honest with you.

0:26:50 > 0:26:52Actually, Brad Singleton.

0:26:52 > 0:26:55I think Carl Ablett rates himself.

0:26:55 > 0:26:57He rates himself highly, I think he does it on the sly.

0:26:57 > 0:27:03Which is interesting.

0:27:03 > 0:27:06Mitch Garbutt again, as it happens.

0:27:06 > 0:27:10His nickname is Garbs but he likes to call himself Carbs for his fond

0:27:10 > 0:27:13loving of carbohydrate meals.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15Probably Hally with Hall Dog.

0:27:15 > 0:27:17My nickname is Hall Dog.

0:27:17 > 0:27:18He made it up himself.

0:27:18 > 0:27:20Nobody bought into it.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23He has got a number plate on his car says Hall Dog.

0:27:23 > 0:27:25I think it is probably the best one.

0:27:25 > 0:27:26There's nothing doggy about him at all.

0:27:26 > 0:27:34He's just an idiot.

0:27:34 > 0:27:37Ryan Hall does not come out of that very well!

0:27:37 > 0:27:38He just flogs everybody, doesn't he!

0:27:38 > 0:27:39Fantastic.

0:27:39 > 0:27:41The silliest nickname at your club?

0:27:41 > 0:27:43You have put me on the spot there.

0:27:43 > 0:27:44You have got me.

0:27:44 > 0:27:45Anything we can broadcast!

0:27:45 > 0:27:46You have got me!

0:27:46 > 0:27:48We will move on then.

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Well, let's see if there were any smiles for Leeds on Friday.

0:27:51 > 0:27:52They were away to Warrington.

0:27:52 > 0:27:56Chris Sandow was back for the home team, and Dave Woods was there.

0:27:56 > 0:27:58Chris Sandow was back for the home team, and Dave Woods was there.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01It is a wonderful place to be so early in the game for Leeds.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04They've had fast starts in the last three matches.

0:28:04 > 0:28:05They have amounted to nothing.

0:28:05 > 0:28:07Can they create something early in this one?

0:28:07 > 0:28:08McGuire with a little kick.

0:28:08 > 0:28:12And Keinhorst is over to score!

0:28:12 > 0:28:14Inside the opening two minutes.

0:28:14 > 0:28:18Leeds have started well.

0:28:18 > 0:28:22Keinhorst the finisher.

0:28:22 > 0:28:24Clark.

0:28:24 > 0:28:26Sandow.

0:28:26 > 0:28:30Aside for Ashton Sims.

0:28:30 > 0:28:33Clark is pointing where he says it might go.

0:28:33 > 0:28:38But goes the other way, and this will be a finish for Gene Ormsby.

0:28:38 > 0:28:45Great cutout pass from Ben Currie to give him the score.

0:28:45 > 0:28:47Sandow.

0:28:47 > 0:28:51That is a magical kick from Chris Sandow!

0:28:51 > 0:28:54Tom Lineham finishes, but a moment of magic

0:28:54 > 0:28:57from the returning scrum-half.

0:28:57 > 0:29:03Boy, have they missed him!

0:29:03 > 0:29:05Coming on in numbers.

0:29:05 > 0:29:07Did well to hold onto that.

0:29:07 > 0:29:09It was a difficult pass.

0:29:09 > 0:29:11Little dummy to his right by Dwyer.

0:29:11 > 0:29:15And all too easily Brad Dwyer finds a way in.

0:29:15 > 0:29:23And Warrington stretching their lead.

0:29:23 > 0:29:26Jones-Buchanan.

0:29:26 > 0:29:32They have put up a decent fight here so far, Leeds, tonight.

0:29:33 > 0:29:35McGuire, dabbing it through.

0:29:35 > 0:29:38He pings pongs off several and Ferres will claim the try.

0:29:38 > 0:29:40And they are back within touching distance

0:29:40 > 0:29:46again here, Leeds.

0:29:46 > 0:29:48Ratchford.

0:29:48 > 0:29:49Gidley.

0:29:49 > 0:29:54A step back on the inside again.

0:29:54 > 0:29:58So Warrington find themselves in decent position.

0:29:58 > 0:30:00Sandow with another of those clever kicks of his.

0:30:00 > 0:30:01Up goes Ormsby.

0:30:01 > 0:30:03Passes back.

0:30:03 > 0:30:08And Atkins, on his way over to score.

0:30:08 > 0:30:13Ref is having a think about it.

0:30:13 > 0:30:16He says try.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18It is a knock-on, that is the question.

0:30:18 > 0:30:20That looked as if it went back off Ormsby.

0:30:20 > 0:30:22No doubts about the grounding here.

0:30:22 > 0:30:23No, not at all.

0:30:23 > 0:30:25So this should be a try.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27And right at the start of the second half, Warrington extend

0:30:27 > 0:30:35their lead again.

0:30:35 > 0:30:38Sandow, Bailey, he is going to have a go here against his former

0:30:38 > 0:30:39team-mates, Ryan Bailey.

0:30:39 > 0:30:44Continuing his return to fitness for his new club.

0:30:44 > 0:30:46Little dummy show.

0:30:46 > 0:30:49Oh, he has got the ball away, has Gidley!

0:30:49 > 0:30:53And Ormsby will score in the corner.

0:30:53 > 0:30:58It is a fifth Warrington try.

0:30:58 > 0:31:01Great handling.

0:31:01 > 0:31:03Sims.

0:31:03 > 0:31:06Away to Ratchford.

0:31:06 > 0:31:09A little step, and he goes.

0:31:09 > 0:31:11Oh, hang on, there is a bit of afters going on here

0:31:11 > 0:31:15between Sims and Singleton.

0:31:15 > 0:31:21And everybody is getting involved here.

0:31:21 > 0:31:25Ryan Bailey trying to calm things down.

0:31:25 > 0:31:27Have a look at this.

0:31:27 > 0:31:31Sims off-loads, there was what he thinks of as a bit of a nasty knock

0:31:31 > 0:31:32from Singleton after that.

0:31:32 > 0:31:35And then the punches are traded.

0:31:35 > 0:31:37They weren't holding back, were they?

0:31:37 > 0:31:42The Cumbrian and the Australian.

0:31:42 > 0:31:47Ten minutes in the sin bin for Singleton.

0:31:47 > 0:31:52You would imagine something similar for Ashton Sims.

0:31:52 > 0:31:55Although the first punch did appear to have been thrown by Singleton.

0:31:55 > 0:32:01And it will be ten minutes in the bin as well for Ashton Sims.

0:32:01 > 0:32:05That has warmed things up.

0:32:05 > 0:32:06Clark.

0:32:06 > 0:32:10Quickly from dummy half.

0:32:10 > 0:32:13Coming from a position where he was not square at the marker.

0:32:13 > 0:32:23So a penalty for Warrington.

0:32:23 > 0:32:25He had not got back in position there, Clark, sensing that,

0:32:25 > 0:32:26and getting the penalty.

0:32:26 > 0:32:27The restart.

0:32:27 > 0:32:28Warrington only 15 yards away.

0:32:28 > 0:32:30Quick hands away to Ratchford.

0:32:30 > 0:32:32Easy for Warrington through that Leeds defence.

0:32:32 > 0:32:40Stefan Ratchford the scorer of try number six.

0:32:40 > 0:32:44Atkins.

0:32:44 > 0:32:47Forward by King and does well to get the offload away.

0:32:47 > 0:32:52And here comes Atkins again, just about keeping a hold of him.

0:32:52 > 0:32:57But with one tackle left, the line is in sight.

0:32:57 > 0:33:01Sandow's pass and over goes Gidley!

0:33:01 > 0:33:04All too simple again for Warrington.

0:33:04 > 0:33:11The heart has been ripped out of this Leeds defence.

0:33:11 > 0:33:15Sims was to the left but he has gone right, and a little pass

0:33:15 > 0:33:16on the inside again.

0:33:16 > 0:33:18Oh, this is wonderful hands again.

0:33:18 > 0:33:20And it is a wonderful try again!

0:33:20 > 0:33:23Daryl Clark the scorer.

0:33:23 > 0:33:32Seems they are almost scoring at will here.

0:33:32 > 0:33:36Burrow.

0:33:36 > 0:33:41Burrow has been one shining light in a dismal Leeds season.

0:33:41 > 0:33:44Here he is at dummy half again.

0:33:44 > 0:33:45Dummy shown by Ferres.

0:33:45 > 0:33:48And I think he might have crashed over here,

0:33:48 > 0:33:49Brett Ferres.

0:33:49 > 0:33:52His second try as a Leeds player.

0:33:52 > 0:33:57Two on the night.

0:33:57 > 0:34:02Clark.

0:34:02 > 0:34:03Through again, all too easily.

0:34:03 > 0:34:06Ratchford, almost.

0:34:06 > 0:34:08Clark, out at dummy half.

0:34:08 > 0:34:11Throwns the dummy and the gap is enormous!

0:34:11 > 0:34:13For him to sail through.

0:34:13 > 0:34:16Capitulation by Leeds once more.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18But Warrington, as it stands, are going top

0:34:18 > 0:34:22of the Super League table.

0:34:22 > 0:34:24Dave used the word capitulation.

0:34:24 > 0:34:32They have conceded 144 points in the last three games, Leeds.

0:34:32 > 0:34:35And Brian McDermott saying they lost their defensive integrity.

0:34:35 > 0:34:37Will that hurt him the most about all of this?

0:34:37 > 0:34:38I think so.

0:34:38 > 0:34:42When you are in a tough front you need to be able to kick the ball

0:34:42 > 0:34:45very, very well and back your defence to keep you in there.

0:34:45 > 0:34:47With a view to it.

0:34:47 > 0:34:50We have also associated Leeds with scoring a lot of points

0:34:50 > 0:34:51with the talent they have got.

0:34:51 > 0:34:53They're actually not doing that at the moment,

0:34:53 > 0:34:54which is one of their worries.

0:34:54 > 0:34:56They can't get down the other end.

0:34:56 > 0:34:59But to give themselves a chance, you have certainly got to aim

0:34:59 > 0:35:02against the big blokes in the middle and stop their little plays.

0:35:02 > 0:35:04They will know all the players and that can be the

0:35:04 > 0:35:06disappointing side of it.

0:35:06 > 0:35:08When you see your team ship a lot of points through a lack

0:35:08 > 0:35:12of confidence or the game is gone, you want them to put a stake

0:35:12 > 0:35:13in the ground and say, no more.

0:35:13 > 0:35:16I'm sure he has rallied the troops this week,

0:35:16 > 0:35:18they're going to have to start really well this week again.

0:35:18 > 0:35:20A good French side that are coming across.

0:35:20 > 0:35:23So the long answer to your short question Tanya, was yes,

0:35:23 > 0:35:25they have got to bend their backs better than they are.

0:35:25 > 0:35:28As for Warrington, interestingly, Tony Smith saying their defence

0:35:28 > 0:35:31was back to what he felt they were at the beginning of the season.

0:35:31 > 0:35:32When they were flying.

0:35:32 > 0:35:34Sandow back but also Clark and Dwyer really

0:35:34 > 0:35:36good for them as well, weren't they, through the middle?

0:35:36 > 0:35:40Yes, and they are the kind of guys, Clark and Dwyer, who really get off

0:35:40 > 0:35:43the back of the big men and a challenge in the middle.

0:35:43 > 0:35:46And once you lose a few rooks, they're just that quick out of dummy

0:35:46 > 0:35:48half, you're instantly under pressure.

0:35:48 > 0:35:50And once they are in good ball and challenging your own line

0:35:50 > 0:35:53with the likes of Sandow coming back in, you see the kick

0:35:53 > 0:35:56try he set up there, there's not always something you can

0:35:56 > 0:35:57do to stop the tries.

0:35:57 > 0:36:00And off the back of the big men, like I say, they're just playing

0:36:00 > 0:36:02some great football down in the other end.

0:36:02 > 0:36:04And they're going to need that.

0:36:04 > 0:36:06Saint Helens, Hull FC and Catalan in the next few weeks.

0:36:06 > 0:36:10Fairly decisive, you feel, for them in their push to try to be

0:36:10 > 0:36:11at the top?

0:36:11 > 0:36:14Yes, but I think they're going in to it in good form as well.

0:36:14 > 0:36:15They've had a couple of slip-ups.

0:36:15 > 0:36:17I think in the last two and Castleford.

0:36:17 > 0:36:20But since that they seemed to pick the game back-up.

0:36:20 > 0:36:23In similar to a lot of teams, they're getting all the big stars

0:36:23 > 0:36:26back coming into this important run into the end of the season.

0:36:26 > 0:36:29So I think they will be confident going in to those big games.

0:36:29 > 0:36:30And starting with Saint Helens.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33Hull Kingston Rovers took a day trip to Catalan on Saturday.

0:36:33 > 0:36:34Terry Campese stayed at home.

0:36:34 > 0:36:35Danny, you played Catalan last week.

0:36:35 > 0:36:37what do you make of them at the moment?

0:36:37 > 0:36:39They have got some massive individuals, you know,

0:36:39 > 0:36:41Dave Taylor, Willy Mason, it is never-ending, really.

0:36:41 > 0:36:44And then off the back of that they have got people

0:36:44 > 0:36:45like Jodie Broughton scoring points for them.

0:36:45 > 0:36:48I think the important thing is they're bringing the French guys

0:36:48 > 0:36:49through now as well.

0:36:49 > 0:36:51Probably the best one is Tony Gigot.

0:36:51 > 0:36:53Mentioning Dave Taylor, when a prop does that...

0:36:53 > 0:36:54Yes, it's undefendable, really.

0:36:54 > 0:36:55Nearly 20 stone.

0:36:55 > 0:36:58And you are expected to tackle him one-on-one on your own line.

0:36:58 > 0:36:59It is difficult.

0:36:59 > 0:37:02And you look at the players off the back of it, Todd Carney,

0:37:03 > 0:37:05he is in some great form as well.

0:37:05 > 0:37:08They're just a great attacking team and backing themselves to defend

0:37:08 > 0:37:09their own line now as well.

0:37:09 > 0:37:13It was always going to be a tough one, this, for Hull KR.

0:37:13 > 0:37:15It was, yes.

0:37:15 > 0:37:17If I'm not mistaken, they won the second half

0:37:17 > 0:37:20and they get Larroyer back, who has been out for a while.

0:37:20 > 0:37:22And Campese obviously back this week.

0:37:22 > 0:37:25And so they are building for a bit of a run towards the

0:37:25 > 0:37:26back end of the year.

0:37:26 > 0:37:27And, you know, that process takes time.

0:37:27 > 0:37:31But when you go to France you have got to be prepared for an onslaught

0:37:31 > 0:37:32of physicality which you get.

0:37:32 > 0:37:34Anderson there crashing over the line.

0:37:34 > 0:37:35And so they are a good team.

0:37:35 > 0:37:40And they play well.

0:37:40 > 0:37:43What they've done this year, I do not think everyone is surprised

0:37:43 > 0:37:46that, but they have managed, every year we asked the question can

0:37:46 > 0:37:48they win it away from home.

0:37:48 > 0:37:50They doing it regularly now as well, aren't they,

0:37:50 > 0:37:51which makes them a huge threat.

0:37:51 > 0:37:54Going to give a mention to young Joe Wardle, a Hull KR winger.

0:37:54 > 0:37:57He played England under 19 is the night before.

0:37:57 > 0:37:59How difficult, Danny, to do that and then come

0:37:59 > 0:38:00into a game like this?

0:38:00 > 0:38:01Oh, yes, it is massive.

0:38:01 > 0:38:03I think as a player, he will have been dreaming

0:38:04 > 0:38:04of something like that.

0:38:04 > 0:38:07You know, he has played for the England Academy,

0:38:07 > 0:38:09which I'm sure he would have been really proud of.

0:38:09 > 0:38:12And then he got a phone call as well saying come on,

0:38:12 > 0:38:14you're going to make your Super League debut.

0:38:14 > 0:38:17It really is the thing that dreams are made of and I'm sure

0:38:17 > 0:38:19all his family will have been really proud as well.

0:38:19 > 0:38:21To see him do that.

0:38:21 > 0:38:24And just also a mention for Catalan, 17-year-old half-back Lucas Albert.

0:38:24 > 0:38:27I mean, what, for a young man coming alongside playing Todd Carney,

0:38:27 > 0:38:29how much can he learn from him?

0:38:29 > 0:38:30A massive amount.

0:38:30 > 0:38:33Danny hit the nail on the head, the story for him as well.

0:38:33 > 0:38:36Bringing the French kids through, it has always been part and parcel

0:38:36 > 0:38:37of their challenge.

0:38:37 > 0:38:38And they're looking good.

0:38:38 > 0:38:41The team doesn't miss a beat when they come in to the team.

0:38:41 > 0:38:42But having Todd Carney around you, wow.

0:38:42 > 0:38:43Not bad, huh?

0:38:43 > 0:38:45Results haven't been great for St Helens over

0:38:45 > 0:38:48the past couple of weeks, but we've had a dig around the BBC

0:38:48 > 0:38:51Archives and found something that might raise the spirits at Langtree

0:38:51 > 0:38:52Park.

0:38:52 > 0:38:54This is the 1985 Premiership Final, and a Grandstand performance

0:38:54 > 0:39:04from a rugby league legend.

0:39:08 > 0:39:11What better teams could we have to contest this Premiership trophy?

0:39:11 > 0:39:13Division One champions Hull KR and the runners-up in

0:39:13 > 0:39:16the championship, St Helens.

0:39:16 > 0:39:19And one man finishing his one-year contract, Mal Malinga,

0:39:19 > 0:39:21he goes back to Australia this week.

0:39:21 > 0:39:24But what a fine season he has had for St Helens.

0:39:25 > 0:39:2626 tries to his credit already.

0:39:26 > 0:39:31He will be looking for the winner's medal.

0:39:31 > 0:39:33Oh, very good ball out to Holding.

0:39:33 > 0:39:35To Malinga.

0:39:35 > 0:39:38Well taken from Malinga.

0:39:38 > 0:39:39Looking for the opportunity.

0:39:39 > 0:39:42Oh!

0:39:42 > 0:39:45It is like tackling a man mountain, this guy.

0:39:45 > 0:39:47But St Helens still on the attack.

0:39:47 > 0:39:49Holding.

0:39:49 > 0:39:51To Peters.

0:39:51 > 0:39:52He has got Ledger with him.

0:39:52 > 0:39:54Can he make it to the corner?

0:39:54 > 0:39:56He will, he has got the legs.

0:39:56 > 0:39:59It might be Ledger's try but I think that try was scored

0:39:59 > 0:40:00more by Mal Malinga.

0:40:00 > 0:40:02Bursting down the left hand flank.

0:40:02 > 0:40:06And all Ledger had to do was put the ball down.

0:40:06 > 0:40:11Hull Kingston Rovers using one, two, three drives...

0:40:11 > 0:40:13Mal Malinga, he is going for the line!

0:40:13 > 0:40:15It is a formality.

0:40:15 > 0:40:17It is theirs.

0:40:17 > 0:40:20I know he wants to go back to Australia with the winner's

0:40:20 > 0:40:24medal and tries like that will give it to him.

0:40:24 > 0:40:26Malinga has got it again!

0:40:26 > 0:40:30Now then, he is a big man, but he is a fast man, this lad.

0:40:30 > 0:40:32It is a race, Malinga is holding Danny Clark

0:40:32 > 0:40:34off and he scores!

0:40:34 > 0:40:36What a try!

0:40:36 > 0:40:40Well, this man cost ?30,000 for the season and how well he has

0:40:40 > 0:40:43rewarded those fans.

0:40:43 > 0:40:46He is a huge size, six foot three, 16 stone.

0:40:46 > 0:40:49Mal, the Wizard of Australia, the banner says.

0:40:49 > 0:40:52What a try.

0:40:52 > 0:40:55And St Helens for the third time in their history, Premiership trophy

0:40:55 > 0:40:59winners and Mal Malinga, he played his part.

0:40:59 > 0:41:01Truly a memorable final.

0:41:01 > 0:41:0736-16 for St Helens.

0:41:07 > 0:41:0936-16 for St Helens.

0:41:09 > 0:41:16Boy, for a big guy, he could move fast!

0:41:16 > 0:41:19He was quick, he was big.

0:41:19 > 0:41:21He was a prototype to all those things that came after,

0:41:21 > 0:41:22Lomu and people like that.

0:41:22 > 0:41:24He was the original and best.

0:41:24 > 0:41:25And he was blinking quick!

0:41:25 > 0:41:28Now Widnes were top of the table after the first six weeks

0:41:28 > 0:41:30of the season, but eight consecutive defeats saw them fall

0:41:30 > 0:41:31to eighth place.

0:41:31 > 0:41:35They were at home to Huddersfield on Sunday, and it was a poor start

0:41:35 > 0:41:36for the Vikings, Brian.

0:41:36 > 0:41:38They didn't get off to the right start.

0:41:38 > 0:41:40I was flicking through the text looking at scores on the weekend,

0:41:40 > 0:41:42watching another game.

0:41:42 > 0:41:44But at 16-nil up, I thought this is a walk-in.

0:41:44 > 0:41:45But they've shown absolute resilience.

0:41:45 > 0:41:48They have been on a bad run, haven't they, but you know,

0:41:48 > 0:41:49that is unforgivable.

0:41:49 > 0:41:52Plays the ball, Danny is gone, and he is going to put

0:41:52 > 0:41:54the ball over the line, is Danny Brough.

0:41:54 > 0:41:56And you're thinking, and I suppose Huddersfield were thinking,

0:41:56 > 0:41:59it is going to be one of those days at the office.

0:41:59 > 0:42:00But not according to Widnes.

0:42:00 > 0:42:04They came back and showed the kind of resilience you do.

0:42:04 > 0:42:07Hinchcliffe doing what he has done all year at dummy half to get

0:42:07 > 0:42:08Wardle over the line.

0:42:08 > 0:42:10And so they look really strong, Huddersfield.

0:42:10 > 0:42:12Just before half-time I think this is crucial,

0:42:12 > 0:42:13Kevin Brown, pivotal.

0:42:13 > 0:42:15And Corey Thompson finishing as he has done all year.

0:42:15 > 0:42:18I think he has been terrific for them, scored a lot of points.

0:42:18 > 0:42:21And then Rhys Hanbury as well is important to this team.

0:42:21 > 0:42:25The big story of the day is Joe Mellor ripped them to pieces.

0:42:25 > 0:42:27No one got within five metres of him.

0:42:27 > 0:42:30Exceptional speed there.

0:42:30 > 0:42:32And once you're at that end of the field I suppose

0:42:32 > 0:42:34the momentum had shifted.

0:42:34 > 0:42:39And Mellor again, releasing Marsh.

0:42:39 > 0:42:42What does it say about Widnes's character to come back from that,

0:42:42 > 0:42:43given the run they've been on?

0:42:43 > 0:42:46It shows that there is a great character in the squad.

0:42:46 > 0:42:49I think after the run they've been on, it would probably have been

0:42:49 > 0:42:52easier to fold up and, you know, just give in to the start

0:42:52 > 0:42:54that Huddersfield have made.

0:42:54 > 0:42:57But I think the important thing is they have got their spine

0:42:57 > 0:42:58back together now.

0:42:58 > 0:43:01Widnes, you know if Kevin Brown, Joe Mellor and Rhys Hanbury

0:43:01 > 0:43:05are playing, then it is going to be a tough day.

0:43:05 > 0:43:08They are three great players in attacking and you look at every

0:43:08 > 0:43:11try and those three players get their hands on the

0:43:11 > 0:43:12ball in all of them.

0:43:12 > 0:43:15And they're pivotal in the comeback and the victory for Widnes.

0:43:15 > 0:43:17And just briefly, Huddersfield will be disappointed after a good

0:43:17 > 0:43:18performance at Magic, won't they?

0:43:18 > 0:43:19They will.

0:43:19 > 0:43:22They turned the proverbial corner, but there is another corner to turn

0:43:22 > 0:43:23now this week.

0:43:23 > 0:43:26So Widnes get back to winning ways, let's check-up on all

0:43:26 > 0:43:28the movers and shakers in the First Utility

0:43:28 > 0:43:31Super League Table.

0:43:31 > 0:43:33Super League Table.

0:43:33 > 0:43:36No change at the top because the first four all won.

0:43:36 > 0:43:39Hull FC remain two points clear of Warrington, Catalan and Wigan.

0:43:39 > 0:43:41Leeds are still bottom and there is now a 4-point gap

0:43:41 > 0:43:44between Widnes in eighth and Salford in ninth.

0:43:44 > 0:43:48Round 17 kicks off with Wakefield against Hull KR on Thursday.

0:43:48 > 0:43:50Everyone else plays on Friday including the leaders,

0:43:50 > 0:43:54Hull FC, who play Widnes.

0:43:54 > 0:43:56Saint Helens are against Warrington, Salford play Wigan, and home games

0:43:56 > 0:44:01too for Leeds and Huddersfield.

0:44:01 > 0:44:02too for Leeds and Huddersfield.

0:44:02 > 0:44:04Brian, do you think that is the top four settled,

0:44:04 > 0:44:05can you see it changing?

0:44:05 > 0:44:09It is going to take a good run from Saints to break that top four.

0:44:09 > 0:44:11I think it is looking pretty solid.

0:44:11 > 0:44:13What do you reckon?

0:44:13 > 0:44:15Yeah, it's going to be hard for anyone to break in now.

0:44:15 > 0:44:18I think those four teams are in really good form as well,

0:44:18 > 0:44:21so you would imagine they will keep on picking the points up.

0:44:21 > 0:44:25That's it for this week, my thanks to Danny and Brian for joining us,

0:44:25 > 0:44:31we'll see you next week, goodbye.

0:44:35 > 0:44:37If you know somebody you'd like to nominate

0:44:37 > 0:44:40to be an unexpected star of the show for the next series...

0:44:41 > 0:44:42..or in fact want to nominate someone for any surprise...

0:44:47 > 0:44:51..please go to bbc.co.uk/bigshow

0:44:51 > 0:44:53for all the details.

0:44:55 > 0:44:56spent God knows how many man hours, and you think I'm going to

0:44:57 > 0:44:59HORN BLARES

0:44:59 > 0:45:02Why did you want to be a policeman? I don't want to be a policeman.

0:45:02 > 0:45:03I want to be a detective.
