0:03:15 > 0:03:16Webster back on the inside...

0:03:16 > 0:03:26It might have got a touch there from England.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29It's got Castleford back on the ball, though, in McShane,

0:03:29 > 0:03:30he's stolen it back.

0:03:30 > 0:03:31Still an opportunity.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54Mike McMeeken, his elbows are up.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56Has he hit the whitewash?

0:04:03 > 0:04:04Tremendous atmosphere here.

0:04:04 > 0:04:08They are loving every moment.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17Wakefield are making sure it's far from plain sailing

0:04:17 > 0:04:20for Castleford so far.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Here's Hardaker with a dummy, support on the inside

0:04:23 > 0:04:25from Webster, who's in.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28Wonderful try.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32Hardaker's break and vision and Webster's balance

0:04:32 > 0:04:36and power taking it in, and the gap opens a little more.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40Finn.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45Castleford's line being tested here.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50Mason Caton-Brown out of dummy half.

0:04:50 > 0:04:51I think he's got there.

0:04:51 > 0:04:55Mason Caton-Brown.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Try given!

0:04:58 > 0:05:00Wakefield back in it just before half-time.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10Well, they've got a bit of width here.

0:05:10 > 0:05:11Jowitt.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14Held up, put down.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18Ben Jones-Bishop is the man who moves at dummy half.

0:05:18 > 0:05:24Wakefield looking to prosper again here.

0:05:24 > 0:05:29It's back for Kirmond, Danny Kirmond the captain, galloping in.

0:05:29 > 0:05:30And they will not go away here, Wakefield.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33They want to spoil the party.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39It's Gale.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Stepped back on the inside, McShane, as they search this

0:05:42 > 0:05:45right-hand side again.

0:05:46 > 0:05:52McMeeken pops it up, and inside goes Minikin.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Wakefield's defence is scrambling.

0:05:58 > 0:05:59McShane delivers back.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02Roberts.

0:06:02 > 0:06:07Gale, with a pass over the top, right into the hands of Greg Eden.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11His 35th Super League try of the season, and it's an absolute

0:06:11 > 0:06:21peach of a pass from Gale that puts him over.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26They're believing again and it's going to be the night.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29What about this pass from Luke Gale?

0:06:29 > 0:06:32Missing out two defenders and right into the arms of Greg Eden to score.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35They're running with numbers, Roberts puts it back,

0:06:35 > 0:06:38it's got a hand, but it's Webster who picks it up and Jake Webster

0:06:39 > 0:06:41in for his second.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Well, the party's beginning.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49Webster.

0:06:50 > 0:06:56Millington looking for an off-load, but they're hanging off him.

0:06:58 > 0:07:03McShane at dummy half again, just taken in...

0:07:03 > 0:07:05Webster, hat trick try, and that might just be the one

0:07:05 > 0:07:07that seals the deal.

0:07:07 > 0:07:12It's a long way back for Wakefield.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15And they're beginning to celebrate the inevitable now.

0:07:18 > 0:07:25Roberts, dashing and weaving.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28McShane at dummy half, they are well set again.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31Gale, going for the drop goal.

0:07:31 > 0:07:32Well, ain't that the impish factor?!

0:07:32 > 0:07:35Luke Gale's one pointer.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41McShane.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Again, they have the numbers here, McMeeken running through,

0:07:44 > 0:07:46Webster is there in support.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50It's going to be a fourth try of the night for Jake Webster.

0:07:50 > 0:07:53Well, they are enjoying themselves now.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56All the tension has gone, what little there was,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59and it is a night for celebration.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04Hadley.

0:08:04 > 0:08:08Up field with a ball left.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12A slip by Tupou but he's kept it alive and it's going to be

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Max Jowitt who gets in.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16There's a little pin in the party balloon momentarily.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24McShane.

0:08:24 > 0:08:28Roberts is through, has support right and left,

0:08:28 > 0:08:31it's left to Hardaker.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34He started the night with a try in the tenth minute for his side,

0:08:34 > 0:08:37and he might have just finished it too.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40He's a great candidate for Man of Steel, but you could say

0:08:40 > 0:08:43that of several of these Castleford players.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46League leaders, Shield winners.

0:08:50 > 0:08:55It's a countdown to a history making moment, 91 years in the making.

0:08:55 > 0:09:02For the first time ever, Castleford sit at the top

0:09:02 > 0:09:04of the table, at the end of the league season.

0:09:04 > 0:09:07They have done it in such style.

0:09:07 > 0:09:12And the party breaking out all around the Jungle.

0:09:12 > 0:09:16It's been a party atmosphere here all year, to be fair.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Carnival on and off the field.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23And there's the winning coach.

0:09:28 > 0:09:33Michael Shenton collects that League Leader's Shield.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36Not everybody celebrates that piece of silverware,

0:09:36 > 0:09:39but Castleford will.

0:09:39 > 0:09:44Champagne corks ready to pop here.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48They've done it with a bit of razzle-dazzle throughout

0:09:48 > 0:09:52the year, and after 91 years, Castleford win that prize.

0:09:52 > 0:09:55It's a moment to relish for them and their fans.

0:10:07 > 0:10:12It's unbelievable, when you look around,

0:10:12 > 0:10:14and it's a good news story, isn't it?

0:10:14 > 0:10:18We worked so hard over the last four years for a night like this.

0:10:18 > 0:10:19You want to enjoy it.

0:10:19 > 0:10:21It's a special place to play rugby league,

0:10:21 > 0:10:27a special place to be involved with, so yeah, a top night.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30Certainly enjoying, I'm going to enjoy it.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33Lost for words, unbelievable.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37We said we had to do it at the start of the year,

0:10:37 > 0:10:39but for it to come true, you know...

0:10:39 > 0:10:41Credit to the coaching staff, the boys, the club,

0:10:41 > 0:10:42everyone involved.

0:10:42 > 0:10:4480, 90% of our team, we've all had adversity,

0:10:44 > 0:10:48probably been around the block a bit and it just feels great to win it

0:10:48 > 0:10:50with this bunch of men.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53It's for the town, really, and all the fans.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56All the ups and downs, they've been relegated and promoted,

0:10:56 > 0:11:00and, you know, I can't really feel, can't begin to think

0:11:00 > 0:11:02what they've been through, so to get this tonight

0:11:02 > 0:11:03for them is magnificent.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06It's a special feeling, very emotional, very emotional time.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10A lot of messages from all the fans about how much it means

0:11:10 > 0:11:13to them to achieve this, League Leader's, and we have been

0:11:13 > 0:11:16the most consistent team and it's nice to get it done nice and early

0:11:16 > 0:11:18and now we can focus on what's next.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20So a nice weekend as well, to enjoy it.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23I've waited long enough to get some silverware.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26As a kid coming to the games and waiting to get some

0:11:26 > 0:11:27silverware, so it's great.

0:11:27 > 0:11:29We'll celebrate tonight and then we have to start kicking up

0:11:29 > 0:11:31towards the Grand Final.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36Zak talked there about what the fans have gone through.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38You were there when they got relegated back in 2006,

0:11:38 > 0:11:41but there have been dark days even more recently, in the last

0:11:41 > 0:11:43four years or so.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45It's quite an achievement what they've done behind the scenes,

0:11:45 > 0:11:48as much as what they've done on the pitch, isn't it?

0:11:48 > 0:11:49It's fantastic.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51The club even at one point four years ago

0:11:51 > 0:11:54was on the brink of possibly going into administration.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56So not only dealing with the yo-yoing of

0:11:56 > 0:11:59promotion/relegation, which I was part of that, that era,

0:11:59 > 0:12:02and then also they started to this show some promise and build and then

0:12:02 > 0:12:08they faded away again and then the club almost didn't exist.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12And then four years on, you know, credit to Daryl Powell and the team.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Steve Gill as well, he's been the focal point there.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17He's managed to keep that club together, somehow find the finance

0:12:17 > 0:12:18and the resource to make it happen.

0:12:18 > 0:12:22They do it on a limited budget, and I think you can only credit

0:12:22 > 0:12:25Daryl Powell and the coaching team for the fact they've coached that

0:12:25 > 0:12:26team to achieve what they've done.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29But phenomenal work's done off the field as well.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32I'm just so, so pleased for the town and the club and so proud

0:12:32 > 0:12:35of everyone involved at Castleford who achieved that, it's fantastic.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38They've been very good value for it as well, through the season?

0:12:38 > 0:12:39They have.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41There was a lot of people tipping them at the start

0:12:41 > 0:12:43of the year, wasn't there?

0:12:43 > 0:12:45Saying Daryl had progressed them over the last two or three years,

0:12:45 > 0:12:47they'd added to the squad.

0:12:47 > 0:12:51You felt as though they were going to be in the mix for the top four,

0:12:51 > 0:12:54but I don't think anybody expected them to finish top, and win it

0:12:54 > 0:12:55with games to spare like this.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58I think, I agree with Hendo, you have to give them huge credit.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00I think Wakefield will be disappointed, because I think

0:13:00 > 0:13:04they were in the mix and I think what Daryl will be exceptionally

0:13:04 > 0:13:06happy with is the fact they've won a big game.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08There wass a lot of pressure on them, internally and externally,

0:13:08 > 0:13:11to perform on Friday night, and they did that.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14Because when the semifinal comes around in five or six weeks' time,

0:13:14 > 0:13:16you don't get a second chance and you've got to perform

0:13:16 > 0:13:19on the big nights, and he'll be happy with that.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22And Wakefield were never going to roll over and make it easy for them.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25They were back within just a couple of points, weren't they,

0:13:25 > 0:13:26when Danny Kirmond scored that try?

0:13:26 > 0:13:28But Castleford did what Castleford have done so often,

0:13:28 > 0:13:31back-to-back tries and bam, the game's out of sight.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Yeah, I thought it was an edgy start for Castleford, I really did.

0:13:34 > 0:13:35They admitted to nerves afterwards.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38Yeah, I thought it was an edgy start for them.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40But like you said, they got a little bit fortuitous,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43they got the bounce of the ball there a little bit, but once

0:13:43 > 0:13:45they got into their stride...

0:13:45 > 0:13:48Wakefield came up with some critical errors, as we said,

0:13:48 > 0:13:50Jowitt kicking out, just gifted Castleford position.

0:13:50 > 0:13:53Like I said, a little fortuitous on this occasion, here it is -

0:13:53 > 0:13:56the ball goes to ground and Webster picks up.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58But once they felt they were comfortable and had that ascendancy,

0:13:58 > 0:14:00they really kicked on from there.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02That's the point, Wakefield will be disappointed with that.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05They give them an opportunity to get back-to-back tries.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08Great scenes here, Castleford winning, absolutely brilliant.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11But when it comes to semifinals, sometimes you don't get that

0:14:11 > 0:14:13back-to-back chance and Castleford will know they will need to improve

0:14:13 > 0:14:21in the next 4-5 weeks, to win that semifinal.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23And just quickly, good timing for them, though,

0:14:23 > 0:14:27because they've had a bit of time to celebrate, they get a week off,

0:14:27 > 0:14:29they have time to get their heads about what they've achieved,

0:14:29 > 0:14:30haven't they, before the semifinals?

0:14:30 > 0:14:32Absolutely brilliant timing.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34There's not many times in rugby league when you win something

0:14:34 > 0:14:37you get an opportunity to enjoy it and I'm sure Daryl will have

0:14:37 > 0:14:39said to the players, look, enjoy the weekend,

0:14:39 > 0:14:41go and enjoy yourself and then get back to work,

0:14:41 > 0:14:44and we've got two weeks until the next game.

0:14:44 > 0:14:45Brilliant times for them, congratulations

0:14:45 > 0:14:46to Castelford Tigers.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48The next big prize will be handed out on Saturday,

0:14:48 > 0:14:51when Hull FC take on Wigan in the Challenge Cup final.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Hull are the holders, of course, and they warmed up

0:14:53 > 0:14:55for Wembley with a home game against Huddersfield.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57Commentary on this one from Matt Newsum.

0:14:57 > 0:14:58COMMENTATOR: Houghton poised for Hull.

0:14:58 > 0:14:59In a strong position here.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02Tuimavave switches the play.

0:15:02 > 0:15:07Mahe Fonua comes in the field, and Hull are in range.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09Houghton again, probing, prompting.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12Gareth Ellis takes it to the line, will he get it down?

0:15:12 > 0:15:14Yes he will!

0:15:14 > 0:15:18What a way to mark 450 games.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Leaning in field to Brough.

0:15:20 > 0:15:24This is where the Giants are dangerous.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26Plenty of ballplaying plans, and they get it

0:15:26 > 0:15:27through to McIntosh in the corner.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31Fine try for the Giants.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34Leeming from acting halfback, Hinchcliffe

0:15:34 > 0:15:35raiding the line himself.

0:15:35 > 0:15:36Dumps it back.

0:15:36 > 0:15:37Leeming again, he's got runners in support.

0:15:37 > 0:15:42Here comes Gaskell, flying into space and scores

0:15:42 > 0:15:47for the Huddersfield Giants.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Hull in sight of the posts.

0:15:50 > 0:15:51Sneyd.

0:15:51 > 0:15:55Tuimavave, lovely move to this right-hand side.

0:15:55 > 0:16:01Jake Connor, against his old club, gets Hull back in the game.

0:16:01 > 0:16:06O'Brien onto Brough.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09Out the back it goes to Rankin, lovely hands to put Mellor through.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12That's a smart try for the Giants.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15There's been a real ebb and flow so far.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Brough away to that left-hand side.

0:16:18 > 0:16:19Hinchcliffe, lovely hands from Rankin.

0:16:19 > 0:16:24Darnell McIntosh cuts back in field and will put the ball down.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Taken in by Smith, great hands at the line,

0:16:34 > 0:16:36Tyler Dickinson rumbles through, Connor won't stop him.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39Huddersfield Giants extend the lead.

0:16:39 > 0:16:41O'Brien, Rankin, out the back to Gaskell,

0:16:41 > 0:16:42he's been a threat all night.

0:16:42 > 0:16:48He goes it alone and will score another try for the Giants.

0:16:52 > 0:16:54Hull have been a little shell-shocked, but they've got

0:16:54 > 0:16:56a bit of space here.

0:16:56 > 0:16:58Fonua out on the right, looks for the off-load to Michaels.

0:16:58 > 0:17:01They've worked it out of the cul-de-sac here, Hull.

0:17:01 > 0:17:04It's all a little bit lateral for now.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06Houghton, looping ball out to the left-hand side.

0:17:06 > 0:17:09Griffin has got a bit of space, he will straighten things up,

0:17:09 > 0:17:13he will take it past McGillvary and score in the corner.

0:17:13 > 0:17:18What a finish from Josh Griffin.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20O'Brien, who's been directing the traffic gets the missed

0:17:20 > 0:17:26ball to Kruise Leeming.

0:17:26 > 0:17:33One hooker to another, and the Giants hit 40.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36Now, there's a good ten minutes left of this one.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38A dink to the corner, in towards the in goal.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Mahe Fonua has been picked up and taken towards the line,

0:17:41 > 0:17:44the ball has come loose and Lee Gaskell's got it.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47That is game over, and not the preparation Hull wanted.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50STUDIO: Have Huddersfield left it too late or do you think they can

0:17:50 > 0:17:52still make that four, the way they're playing?

0:17:52 > 0:17:54There's four games left, isn't there?

0:17:54 > 0:17:58I think they'll definitely need to win three of the four to give

0:17:58 > 0:18:00themselves a fighting chance, but I think Rick Stones has done

0:18:00 > 0:18:01a terrific job, hasn't he?

0:18:01 > 0:18:04I think ten games into the season everyone was writing Huddersfield

0:18:04 > 0:18:07off, saying 100% bottom four and to get them into a position

0:18:07 > 0:18:10they are in, they are in the 8s, performing well and ready to kick

0:18:10 > 0:18:14on towards the back end of the year, you've got to give them huge credit.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16They've got good players, good solid players and they're

0:18:16 > 0:18:19starting to play well together as a group, so yes, don't

0:18:19 > 0:18:21write them off, but it's going to be difficult, though.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Hull, not ideal preparation for the Challenge Cup final?

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Well, you'd say no.

0:18:26 > 0:18:28They're missing some big players, missing Jamie Shaul, Albert Kelly,

0:18:28 > 0:18:31Scott Taylor as well, three big players for that team.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33You could argue it may have disrupted them a little bit

0:18:33 > 0:18:36and you could probably argue that probably they've got

0:18:36 > 0:18:38their focus on that Challenge Cup final coming up.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41I think what they were disappointed with is they've probably lost,

0:18:41 > 0:18:43potentially lost that second spot that they were still

0:18:43 > 0:18:49in the fighting mix for.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52They could still achieve it, if Leeds' results fall away

0:18:52 > 0:18:54in the next couple of games, but that will be the disappointing

0:18:54 > 0:18:57thing for them, that they probably just took their foot off

0:18:57 > 0:18:58the pedal there.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00But you've got to credit Huddersfield, you know?

0:19:00 > 0:19:03I know you can argue it was probably defensively not the standards that

0:19:03 > 0:19:06Hull would like and they're going to be tested a lot

0:19:06 > 0:19:08next week against Wigan, but you have to credit the way

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Huddersfield played.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11They played some really inventive, attacking rugby league,

0:19:11 > 0:19:13scored some magnificent tries.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15So pleasing for the Huddersfield Giants, probably one of their best

0:19:15 > 0:19:16performances of the season.

0:19:16 > 0:19:17450th appearance for Gareth Ellis.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20Obviously he has been such a servant, hasn't he?

0:19:20 > 0:19:21He has.

0:19:21 > 0:19:23And you know what, 450 games is an amazing feat,

0:19:23 > 0:19:26but to play the way he plays the game as well and still

0:19:26 > 0:19:28hit that 450 is huge.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30He's been a success on both sides of the world.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32Anybody who's played with him reaps huge,

0:19:32 > 0:19:35huge accolades on him and the one who play against him don't

0:19:35 > 0:19:37like playing against him, so I think everything that's been

0:19:37 > 0:19:40said about him over the last week, Gareth Ellis, he deserves

0:19:40 > 0:19:41all the accolades he's getting.

0:19:41 > 0:19:42Terrific player, terrific player.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45And a terrific bloke as well, it has to be said.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47Wigan's last game before Wembley was against Salford,

0:19:47 > 0:19:50so how were the Warriors looking, do you think, ahead of Wembley?

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Well, off the back of this performance, you would say

0:19:52 > 0:19:56in a pretty healthy position.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00What I would say with Wigan is that they're getting all their players

0:20:00 > 0:20:03back at the right time and this man, Sam Tomkins, is now starting

0:20:03 > 0:20:04to play exceptionally well.

0:20:04 > 0:20:07In probably a different way than we expect from Sam Tomkins.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10We used to him seeing 60-70 metre tries from two or three years ago.

0:20:10 > 0:20:13He's changed his play a little bit from that, but he's become

0:20:13 > 0:20:14really the influential.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16Burgess is starting to play well.

0:20:16 > 0:20:17Does he give them a different aspect,

0:20:17 > 0:20:18a different attacking aspect?

0:20:18 > 0:20:19He does, yeah.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22He sort of links a lot of the players, with Tommy Leuluai

0:20:22 > 0:20:24and George Williams, people like Farrell,

0:20:24 > 0:20:29coming on them types of lines, exceptionally difficult to stop.

0:20:29 > 0:20:31But they are growing as a team, together.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34Hull are going to have to play an outstanding game

0:20:34 > 0:20:35next week at Wembley.

0:20:35 > 0:20:37If they want to challenge their side, who are starting

0:20:37 > 0:20:38to grow in confidence.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41When you've got Williams in the side, he can do that.

0:20:41 > 0:20:43Wigan are dangerous from anywhere on the field.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45What has possibly been a weakness through the season

0:20:45 > 0:20:47has been their defence, but certainly in the last couple

0:20:47 > 0:20:50of games that one-on-one defence seems back where it needs to be?

0:20:50 > 0:20:51Yeah.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53We said about Wigan, they're starting to get that

0:20:53 > 0:20:55edge back, aren't they?

0:20:55 > 0:20:55Just as a team.

0:20:55 > 0:20:59They are a lot more fluent with the ball than they have been.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01Iestyn alludes to Sam Tomkins and the influence he's having.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03He's having a kicking threat, as well as orchestrating

0:21:03 > 0:21:04things from behind there.

0:21:04 > 0:21:06And I just think defensively, like you said, they've

0:21:06 > 0:21:09really started to aim up, they're becoming harder to break

0:21:09 > 0:21:12down now and we all know Wigan, when it comes to big games,

0:21:12 > 0:21:14they know how to step it up, they know how

0:21:14 > 0:21:15to raise to that level.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18A number of players in that Wigan team playing well now, that's key.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21I think what they've got is a bit of a swagger back,

0:21:21 > 0:21:23which they always had.

0:21:23 > 0:21:25They always had that swagger, that they were going to win games,

0:21:25 > 0:21:29no matter whether they were a point down or a point up with ten

0:21:29 > 0:21:30minutes left to play.

0:21:30 > 0:21:33I think they've got that back again and when they've got back swagger,

0:21:33 > 0:21:34they're difficult to play against.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37A quick word on Salford, yes, they were missing a few players,

0:21:37 > 0:21:39but they have been poor, haven't they, in recent weeks?

0:21:40 > 0:21:41They have.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44They've got a huge game coming up in two weeks' time.

0:21:44 > 0:21:45I think they play Wakefield.

0:21:45 > 0:21:47I think if they lose that, they're gone, they're

0:21:47 > 0:21:49out of that four hunt.

0:21:49 > 0:21:53The fact that they've done so well at the start of the year has given

0:21:53 > 0:21:55them an opportunity to stay in the march, but certainly

0:21:55 > 0:21:57looking exceptionally tired at this moment in time.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59That one's for a couple of weeks' time.

0:21:59 > 0:22:00Wembley first!

0:22:00 > 0:22:03And of course you can see the Challenge Cup final live

0:22:03 > 0:22:04right here on the BBC.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07Join us at two o'clock on Saturday for all the build-up from Wembley.

0:22:07 > 0:22:09Kick off is at 3pm.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11The Super League Show returns in a fortnight,

0:22:11 > 0:22:13when we're expecting to see Ben Barber make his debut

0:22:13 > 0:22:16for St Helens against Wigan.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19And don't forget, the Five Live rugby league podcast will be

0:22:19 > 0:22:23available to download every Monday.

0:22:23 > 0:22:26Leeds and St Helens met in front of Headingley's South Stand

0:22:26 > 0:22:27for the final time on Friday.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29They've had some classic encounters down the years, Andrew.

0:22:29 > 0:22:35Fair to say this wasn't one of them, was it?

0:22:35 > 0:22:37No.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40I wouldn't say it was a dour affair, but it certainly wasn't

0:22:40 > 0:22:41a spectacle, was it?

0:22:41 > 0:22:42It was old-fashioned grit, determination, you know,

0:22:42 > 0:22:43to get across the line.

0:22:43 > 0:22:45I think it certainly wasn't a spectacle.

0:22:45 > 0:22:48The conditions weren't great, a bit greasy, probably didn't help,

0:22:48 > 0:22:51but it was far from a spectacle.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54But at the end of the day, Leeds have done enough.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56I think Saints will be disappointed.

0:22:56 > 0:22:58They've been in some really tight contests of late, recent weeks,

0:22:58 > 0:23:02they've won by two points and now lost a couple by two points.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05They've been in that mix but not quite good enough

0:23:05 > 0:23:06to get across the line.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08They've had some players like James Roby, who took

0:23:08 > 0:23:10some accolades recently, playing some really good football.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13They've got some players playing well, but they're just probably not

0:23:13 > 0:23:16executing well enough at this moment in time to get across the line.

0:23:16 > 0:23:17They will be disappointed here.

0:23:17 > 0:23:18Brian McDermott hailed the second-half performance

0:23:18 > 0:23:21from Leeds, he said he wasn't quite sure where it had come from.

0:23:21 > 0:23:22It's all about winning.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26At this time of the year, it's not about how you win sometimes.

0:23:26 > 0:23:28Yes, the game wasn't great, Saints have lost a couple of tight

0:23:28 > 0:23:30games, as Hendo says, in recent weeks.

0:23:30 > 0:23:32Leeds are winning these tight games.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34They didn't do it last season, and hence the reason

0:23:34 > 0:23:35they were in the middle eight.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37Now they're starting to win these tight games.

0:23:37 > 0:23:39They're probably not playing as fluent as they'd

0:23:39 > 0:23:41like, but with Leeds' grit and determination.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44A couple of weeks' rest now, building to the end of the season.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46Don't write them off at Old Trafford.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50They've got the players to be able to do it and at this end of the year

0:23:50 > 0:23:51you don't have to play pretty.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54It starts to get greasy, as Hendo said, towards the back end

0:23:54 > 0:23:57of the year and they are pretty good in those conditions.

0:23:57 > 0:23:58Saints will be disappointed.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00Lovely try here.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03Shaun Goater got them within two points, but it's them

0:24:03 > 0:24:06small margins, isn't it?

0:24:06 > 0:24:09It's being in the mix in games and going on and winning those

0:24:09 > 0:24:13games, that will get you in the top four.

0:24:13 > 0:24:15So, Leeds beat their old rivals and with four rounds to go,

0:24:15 > 0:24:18this is how they stand in the Betfred Super League table.

0:24:18 > 0:24:24The Rhinos are still in second place and on course for a home semifinal.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27No change in the top four, despite those defeats

0:24:27 > 0:24:29for Hull and Wakefield, but Wigan are now just a point off

0:24:29 > 0:24:35those play-off places.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38Well, four more games to come now, as we follow the fight

0:24:38 > 0:24:40for Super League status in the qualifiers.

0:25:07 > 0:25:09It's getting close to desperate times for Catalan and Leigh

0:25:09 > 0:25:10who met on Saturday.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13Both teams had won one and lost one in the qualifiers so far,

0:25:13 > 0:25:15so a win was all-important as they fight to maintain

0:25:15 > 0:25:16their Super League place.

0:25:16 > 0:25:22The commentator is Matt Newsum.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24COMMENTATOR: Blake plays the ball.

0:25:24 > 0:25:28Leigh into space, midfield, looking for an off-load.

0:25:28 > 0:25:31Catalan have them all wrapped up here.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33Daniel Mortimer, the relative new boy, gets a kick from Drinkwater.

0:25:33 > 0:25:40Hanging in towards that Catalan in-goal area.

0:25:40 > 0:25:41It's going to pitch and bounce here.

0:25:41 > 0:25:42It's been tapped forward.

0:25:42 > 0:25:44Leigh might well have a breakthrough,

0:25:44 > 0:25:49after just four minutes.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Phil Barnes has gone to the screen, he's given a try

0:25:52 > 0:25:53on field decision.

0:25:53 > 0:26:00It was an absolute hash of it from Catalan.

0:26:00 > 0:26:02It comes off a Catalan player, Langi tapped it back

0:26:02 > 0:26:04and Higson was there to score.

0:26:04 > 0:26:06And there is the confirmation that Leigh are four

0:26:06 > 0:26:09points to nil in front.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11Mortimer.

0:26:11 > 0:26:13Through the hands of that left-hand side.

0:26:13 > 0:26:15Leigh looking dangerous, looping past wide again

0:26:15 > 0:26:19and finished by Higson, who gets his second.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21Krisnan Inu looks a bemused man, because it was

0:26:21 > 0:26:25brushed out of the way.

0:26:26 > 0:26:30Mickey Higham will be loving this.

0:26:30 > 0:26:31Leigh born, in Super League, his hometown club,

0:26:31 > 0:26:36and they are in front in Perpignan.

0:26:36 > 0:26:38Drinkwater again hoists up a kick.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41Again, Catalan scrambling to meet it.

0:26:41 > 0:26:43Langi has tipped it into the hands of Cory Paterson

0:26:43 > 0:26:47and that is a remarkable score.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49A mighty smile, because that is another try

0:26:49 > 0:26:55from the Leigh Centurions.

0:26:55 > 0:27:01Cory Paterson gets the reward.

0:27:01 > 0:27:02Probing, Leigh.

0:27:02 > 0:27:04Paterson again.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07His size, his bulk giving Catalan all manner of problems.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09Mortimer will take it towards the posts, sends

0:27:09 > 0:27:11in a little grubber.

0:27:11 > 0:27:13Is it tapped down by Drinkwater?

0:27:13 > 0:27:15Well, he's celebrating as if he scored.

0:27:15 > 0:27:19Catalan look absolutely shell-shocked.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22And Leigh are just a video referee's decision away

0:27:22 > 0:27:26from flying even further in front.

0:27:26 > 0:27:28It was great chase from Drinkwater.

0:27:28 > 0:27:31He's got a clean grounding on that.

0:27:31 > 0:27:34Greg Bird could do nothing about it.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38Another try for Leigh.

0:27:39 > 0:27:41Catalan Dragons with a rare sight of the line.

0:27:41 > 0:27:44Walsh with a lovely little pass, it's been dumped forward, has it?

0:27:44 > 0:27:48Or did it come off the chest?

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Brayden Wiliame scores, the ball did go forward and I think that's

0:27:51 > 0:27:57what the referee is just clearing up with his in-goal judge here.

0:27:57 > 0:27:59He's given the try.

0:27:59 > 0:28:04McNally and Dawson are perplexed.

0:28:04 > 0:28:05We might see a little better here.

0:28:05 > 0:28:08As Leigh goes through the line, as he off-loads it, bounces

0:28:08 > 0:28:13off his chest into the hands of Wiliame, and that is a score.

0:28:18 > 0:28:20Myler.

0:28:20 > 0:28:23Gathered up by Walsh.

0:28:23 > 0:28:25Catalan looking for an option here.

0:28:25 > 0:28:27They're obviously down on troops. Paul Aiton went off

0:28:28 > 0:28:29early on, but they have

0:28:29 > 0:28:31found a route to perhaps the try line here through Inu.

0:28:31 > 0:28:34No, he's just put it straight into the hands of Cory Paterson.

0:28:34 > 0:28:37The big back rower, is he going to hold off the cover?

0:28:37 > 0:28:39He's going to give it his best.

0:28:39 > 0:28:41He won't be caught, and that's a remarkable breakaway

0:28:41 > 0:28:44try to finish this game off.

0:28:44 > 0:28:46Absolute delight for Leigh, but Catalan Dragons,

0:28:46 > 0:28:52they're in trouble.

0:28:52 > 0:28:55STUDIO: Given what happened to Leigh last week, that was quite some turn

0:28:55 > 0:29:00around and they seemed really disciplined out there.

0:29:00 > 0:29:02A fairly simple game, wasn't it, they played?

0:29:02 > 0:29:05The kicking was really strong and they just built on all of that.

0:29:05 > 0:29:06I thought they were outstanding.

0:29:06 > 0:29:09I thought it was a real clinical performance from Leigh Centurions.

0:29:09 > 0:29:13I felt Drinkwater, particularly with his kicking game,

0:29:13 > 0:29:15I thought turning them around, pinning them back, had real energy,

0:29:15 > 0:29:18and a kick chase team, like you said, kept it really simple,

0:29:18 > 0:29:21but they were so methodical and effective with how they went

0:29:21 > 0:29:22about their business.

0:29:22 > 0:29:25And because of the kicking game, the outcomes at the end

0:29:25 > 0:29:27of their sets, it gave them the field position, which gave

0:29:27 > 0:29:28them the opportunity.

0:29:28 > 0:29:31Credit to Leigh, they held a really good attacking shape and caused

0:29:31 > 0:29:34Catalan a lot of problems and were deserving of that result

0:29:34 > 0:29:35and that win in the end.

0:29:35 > 0:29:38Catalan are in a right mess, aren't they?

0:29:38 > 0:29:40Yeah, absolute total mess.

0:29:40 > 0:29:42There's no hiding away from it.

0:29:42 > 0:29:45They just haven't got any backbone, have they?

0:29:45 > 0:29:46Do they look like there's infighting?

0:29:46 > 0:29:48A couple of the French players came out afterwards

0:29:48 > 0:29:49and were fairly harsh.

0:29:49 > 0:29:51It doesn't look great, does it?

0:29:51 > 0:29:52It doesn't look great.

0:29:52 > 0:29:55I think it's been bubbling for a while and there's

0:29:55 > 0:29:58been lots of rumours out there in the South of France,

0:29:58 > 0:29:59that things weren't all that great.

0:29:59 > 0:30:05You know, I think it's now starting to show on the field.

0:30:05 > 0:30:07Whenever they get into any type of difficult game,

0:30:07 > 0:30:09they come out on the wrong end of it.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12And do you know what - four games to go, there's

0:30:12 > 0:30:14going to be some difficult games coming up in these next

0:30:14 > 0:30:15four games for them.

0:30:15 > 0:30:18Unless they can get some harmony within the group, unless they can

0:30:18 > 0:30:19find some performances,...

0:30:19 > 0:30:22The Million Pound Game is probably a cert for them now,

0:30:22 > 0:30:25it might get a little bit worse for them if they can't

0:30:25 > 0:30:26sort their problems out.

0:30:26 > 0:30:28It's a big, big job Steve's on his hands, hasn't he,

0:30:28 > 0:30:30in the next couple weeks, to turn this around?

0:30:30 > 0:30:31Yeah, a massive job.

0:30:31 > 0:30:34I think the ex-coach had done a reasonable job

0:30:34 > 0:30:35over a period of time.

0:30:35 > 0:30:37Yes, it went a little sour towards the end,

0:30:37 > 0:30:44but Steve McNamara's now got a huge rebuilding project, but he's got

0:30:44 > 0:30:45to get through this year first.

0:30:45 > 0:30:47It's all well rebuilding, but rebuilding in the Championship

0:30:47 > 0:30:50is a lot more difficult than rebuilding in Super League.

0:30:50 > 0:30:52Well, Andrew and the London Broncos were looking for their first

0:30:52 > 0:30:53win in the qualifiers.

0:30:53 > 0:30:57You were away to Hull KR on Sunday, talk us through this one.

0:30:57 > 0:30:59A bit of the good, bad and ugly for you?

0:30:59 > 0:31:02Yeah, I mean, look, it was a bright start from us.

0:31:02 > 0:31:03We got over here, an early try.

0:31:03 > 0:31:07We were sort of in that arm wrestle, as we say, going set-to-set

0:31:07 > 0:31:08with Hull Kingston Rovers.

0:31:08 > 0:31:11Unfortunately for us, our kicking strategy wasn't executed

0:31:11 > 0:31:15well enough there for a few players and we started to come up with some

0:31:15 > 0:31:18penalties and some errors early in the tackle count at the wrong

0:31:18 > 0:31:19areas of the field.

0:31:19 > 0:31:21It really invited some good field position and possession

0:31:21 > 0:31:24for Hull Kingston Rovers.

0:31:24 > 0:31:27And, as you can see on the footage now, they were able to capitalise

0:31:27 > 0:31:29on that field position and score.

0:31:29 > 0:31:32The thing that must be frustrating as a coach,

0:31:32 > 0:31:35because they haven't had to work overly hard for the tries,

0:31:35 > 0:31:36have they, Hendo?

0:31:36 > 0:31:37No, they haven't.

0:31:37 > 0:31:39You can see here, some pretty soft tries conceded.

0:31:39 > 0:31:42But, again, it was down to us, gifting that field position.

0:31:42 > 0:31:45Again, a scrum on the halfway line from a knock-on from us.

0:31:45 > 0:31:47That was the nature of that last part of the first half.

0:31:47 > 0:31:51We came out second half a little bit better at the start, defensively.

0:31:51 > 0:31:54Still a couple of penalties that we gave away, but I was proud

0:31:54 > 0:31:57of the effort from the players in the last 25.

0:31:57 > 0:32:01We didn't give in, we competed hard and once we started to play a little

0:32:01 > 0:32:03more disciplined about how we went about our business,

0:32:03 > 0:32:06we started to give ourselves a platform we could play off.

0:32:06 > 0:32:08We caused Hull some problems.

0:32:08 > 0:32:11Interesting, Tim Sheens said he felt like his side started to watch

0:32:11 > 0:32:15the clock and it was a criticism he said he'd had in a few games

0:32:15 > 0:32:16they've had recently.

0:32:16 > 0:32:19Look, I take nothing from Hull KR.

0:32:19 > 0:32:21I thought, and I said to Tim after the game,

0:32:21 > 0:32:24I thought they were very disciplined at methodical about how they went

0:32:24 > 0:32:26about their business.

0:32:26 > 0:32:29How they stuck to script for large parts of the game.

0:32:29 > 0:32:31I thought Jamie Ellis' kicking game was excellent across the board,

0:32:31 > 0:32:34and that was a deserved win for Hull KR, no doubt about it.

0:32:34 > 0:32:36We didn't deserve to be in that game.

0:32:36 > 0:32:38I'm just disappointed we weren't better for longer

0:32:38 > 0:32:39periods of that game.

0:32:39 > 0:32:42Terrific try here from your side, Hendo, but I think Hull KR,

0:32:42 > 0:32:45in general, haven't put an 80 minute performance in yet.

0:32:45 > 0:32:47I think they've played well in patches in games

0:32:47 > 0:32:50and he'll be extremely happy, Tim Sheens.

0:32:50 > 0:32:52Three from three, won some tight games and probably not

0:32:52 > 0:32:54hit their best form yet.

0:32:54 > 0:32:56You'd think they are in prime position now to be able

0:32:56 > 0:32:58to get minimum requirement of the Million Pound Game,

0:32:58 > 0:33:00but certainly a chance of automatic promotion,

0:33:00 > 0:33:02as Leigh Centurions did last year.

0:33:02 > 0:33:05There certainly in a great position for that and Tim Sheens will be

0:33:05 > 0:33:06exceptionally happy with that.

0:33:06 > 0:33:08And where do you feel your guys are at?

0:33:08 > 0:33:09Do you still feel...?

0:33:09 > 0:33:10We still have a chance.

0:33:10 > 0:33:13The great thing is we're not dead and buried yet.

0:33:13 > 0:33:16I know the players are disappointed, but you know, we have

0:33:16 > 0:33:18to draw a line under it.

0:33:18 > 0:33:20We have four games to go.

0:33:20 > 0:33:22There are eight points still up for grabs.

0:33:22 > 0:33:23We still have a chance.

0:33:23 > 0:33:26As each week goes by, it gets tougher, but realistically

0:33:26 > 0:33:29we still have a chance and we still believe and we're

0:33:29 > 0:33:32confident if we can pull bits and parts of the first three games

0:33:32 > 0:33:34and pull it all into one strong performance, we can get

0:33:34 > 0:33:36the results that we desire.

0:33:37 > 0:33:39Two Championship teams were away to Super League opposition.

0:33:39 > 0:33:41First up let's see how Featherstone got on at Widnes.

0:33:43 > 0:33:48COMMENTATOR: After the drama of last week's 32-32 draw with London,

0:33:48 > 0:33:50Featherstone came crashing back down to earth with a resounding

0:33:50 > 0:33:52thud at Widnes.

0:33:52 > 0:33:55Rhys Hanbury scored the first of 11 Vikings' tries,

0:33:55 > 0:33:58after only three and a half minutes.

0:33:59 > 0:34:02And he crossed again shortly after, setting the tone for the biggest

0:34:02 > 0:34:06score yet in this series of Super 8s.

0:34:08 > 0:34:12Head coach Denis Betts had called on his side to be more

0:34:12 > 0:34:15ruthless and they responded, with the margin of victory

0:34:15 > 0:34:20eclipsing last week's 36-12 hammering of Halifax.

0:34:20 > 0:34:23Rovers completely left in the shade.

0:34:23 > 0:34:25Having touched down for try number three, Charly Runciman

0:34:25 > 0:34:26scored try number four.

0:34:26 > 0:34:29Finishing a flowing move, he surged for the line

0:34:29 > 0:34:31and it was as good as game over.

0:34:31 > 0:34:3520 plus points on the board, less than 20 minutes played.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39Featherstone fizzed into life only briefly in this game,

0:34:39 > 0:34:43but at least they did manage to get on the scoreboard.

0:34:43 > 0:34:45Anthony Thackeray's kick caused chaos and Misi Taulapapa's finish

0:34:45 > 0:34:49was certainly the most acrobatic of the day.

0:34:53 > 0:34:56A Rovers revival was swiftly ruled out, though, with a pair

0:34:56 > 0:35:01of back-to-back tries from Chris Bridge.

0:35:01 > 0:35:04First he picked off a stray pass to charge from inside his own half,

0:35:04 > 0:35:06galloping away to score.

0:35:07 > 0:35:11That was followed by a fleet of foot quickstep through the Rovers'

0:35:11 > 0:35:14defence from the 32-year-old former England international.

0:35:14 > 0:35:16Bridge, who's retiring at the end of the season,

0:35:16 > 0:35:18produced a man of the match display.

0:35:18 > 0:35:2134-4 at the break.

0:35:24 > 0:35:30Two minutes into the second half, Featherstone manage their second try

0:35:30 > 0:35:32of the game, as James Lockwood finished off Anthony

0:35:33 > 0:35:34Thackeray's pass.

0:35:34 > 0:35:36If that was a sign of complacency from the Super League side,

0:35:36 > 0:35:41it was short lived, as the ball went to ground marauding Stefan Marsh

0:35:41 > 0:35:43remained vigilant for the Vikings, gathering it up before speeding away

0:35:43 > 0:35:47for a 60 metre run to the line.

0:35:47 > 0:35:5040 points on the board for Widnes with over half an hour to go,

0:35:50 > 0:35:52and they showed no mercy.

0:35:52 > 0:35:54Rovers coach John Duffy declared himself very disappointed

0:35:54 > 0:35:57with his side's performance.

0:35:57 > 0:36:00"We need to look in the mirror", he said afterwards, although time

0:36:00 > 0:36:04spent scrutinising the match video might be more productive,

0:36:04 > 0:36:08ahead of a must win game at home to Hull KR in a fortnight.

0:36:08 > 0:36:10After Bridge had completed his hat-trick, Joe Mellor

0:36:10 > 0:36:12used his boots to find a way through for Stefan

0:36:12 > 0:36:14Marsh to score again.

0:36:14 > 0:36:18After a frustrating season blighted with injuries and disruption,

0:36:18 > 0:36:21Denis Betts' team are finding their fitness, form and consistency

0:36:21 > 0:36:24at just the right time.

0:36:24 > 0:36:28Rhys Hanbury took Widnes pass the 50 point mark with his hat-trick try.

0:36:31 > 0:36:35And the scoring was rounded off in the closing moments by Joe Mellor.

0:36:35 > 0:36:37Widnes rampant, Featherstone flattened.

0:36:37 > 0:36:39Leigh are the Vikings' next opponents.

0:36:42 > 0:36:44STUDIO: A tough one for Featherstone, but for

0:36:44 > 0:36:46Widnes Denis Betts very satisfied that they kept going,

0:36:46 > 0:36:48because that points difference could be crucial, couldn't it?

0:36:48 > 0:36:51Yeah, it's massive, and I think I'd put that down as a really

0:36:51 > 0:36:54efficient performance, because what you've got to do

0:36:54 > 0:36:56as a Super League side is win the four Championship games.

0:36:56 > 0:37:00If you win them, you're in a really, really strong position.

0:37:00 > 0:37:02Featherstone are part-time, but they were really efficient,

0:37:02 > 0:37:05they were clinical and they will grow some confidence from that.

0:37:05 > 0:37:07So Widnes in a pretty good spot at this moment.

0:37:08 > 0:37:10Warrington were looking to maintain their 100%

0:37:10 > 0:37:11record in the qualifiers.

0:37:11 > 0:37:14They were at home to Halifax, and Dave Woods was watching.

0:37:17 > 0:37:19COMMENTATOR: Ratchford's in here at dummy half, looking

0:37:19 > 0:37:21for a route towards that try line.

0:37:21 > 0:37:23Warrington desperate to open their account here,

0:37:23 > 0:37:28but it's been really solid stuff from Halifax so far.

0:37:29 > 0:37:30Hill...

0:37:30 > 0:37:32Swinging it around.

0:37:32 > 0:37:35Morgan Smith.

0:37:36 > 0:37:39Wider still that they look here, Hughes with the off-load.

0:37:39 > 0:37:40Hiku with a little dummy...

0:37:40 > 0:37:44And finally Warrington find a way through.

0:37:44 > 0:37:47Peta Hiku the man to score.

0:37:52 > 0:37:55It's an excellent position they find themselves in here.

0:37:55 > 0:37:58Boyle looking right.

0:37:59 > 0:38:01Grubber kick towards the corner, which is being chased hard

0:38:01 > 0:38:04here by Chester Butler, and Chester Butler with

0:38:04 > 0:38:06a try back for Halifax.

0:38:06 > 0:38:07They deserved that.

0:38:07 > 0:38:11WHISTLE.

0:38:14 > 0:38:18A set of six to come, as Hughes takes it in.

0:38:19 > 0:38:22Can Halifax survive the pressure here?

0:38:22 > 0:38:24Dwyer.

0:38:25 > 0:38:31Hill, Chris Hill reaches out that big long arm and touches down.

0:38:32 > 0:38:35Warrington back ahead.

0:38:39 > 0:38:40It's interesting, isn't it?

0:38:40 > 0:38:45It's a position they find themselves in with some optimism.

0:38:47 > 0:38:48Moore.

0:38:48 > 0:38:51Going to that right-hand side.

0:38:52 > 0:38:55Saltonstall with a ball over the top, he got away,

0:38:56 > 0:38:59Chester Butler, he's got a second.

0:38:59 > 0:39:01Well, they will not go away.

0:39:01 > 0:39:03Well, they want to have another look here.

0:39:03 > 0:39:05Thinks it's a try.

0:39:05 > 0:39:08Look how well he rides the tackle here from Tom Lineham,

0:39:08 > 0:39:10real strong stuff.

0:39:10 > 0:39:13His right foot stays in the field of play and then

0:39:13 > 0:39:16it's a duck and a dive.

0:39:16 > 0:39:17What's the grounding like?

0:39:17 > 0:39:20Nothing wrong with that.

0:39:20 > 0:39:23This will be a second for Chester Butler, and Halifax

0:39:23 > 0:39:28still with a lot of interest in this game.

0:39:28 > 0:39:31What a performance from them.

0:39:31 > 0:39:32Atkins, he's going to go.

0:39:32 > 0:39:35Just held up, just kept at bay.

0:39:35 > 0:39:42Last tackle to come.

0:39:42 > 0:39:43Swept wide, Brown's kick towards that right-hand side,

0:39:43 > 0:39:45a super catch, and Matty Russell is claiming this

0:39:45 > 0:39:50with some confidence.

0:39:50 > 0:39:52A collision of bodies and corner flags and potential touchline means

0:39:53 > 0:39:56we have to look again.

0:39:56 > 0:40:01Great catch, juggled, no knock-on, and touched down.

0:40:04 > 0:40:07Warrington in the ascendancy.

0:40:09 > 0:40:12Here's Smith.

0:40:14 > 0:40:19Back on the inside here for Savelio.

0:40:19 > 0:40:23He's got over, he's got over and surely in getting over, has won

0:40:23 > 0:40:26the match now for Warrington.

0:40:26 > 0:40:29It's been a struggle, but it's going to be another win

0:40:29 > 0:40:32for the Super League side.

0:40:33 > 0:40:35STUDIO: Tony Smith admitting that Warrington were a little bit flat,

0:40:35 > 0:40:38but they did what they needed to do, but the moral victory

0:40:38 > 0:40:39is Halifax's, isn't it?

0:40:39 > 0:40:42They've been really good in these qualifiers.

0:40:42 > 0:40:45Yeah, they didn't get the result, but they were fantastic.

0:40:45 > 0:40:50For a part-time team to go to Warrington was unbelievable,

0:40:50 > 0:40:54and to compete for 65 minutes, and had a couple of little things

0:40:54 > 0:40:56gone a little bit different, they may have nicked it,

0:40:56 > 0:40:57you know it.

0:40:57 > 0:40:59One of the pleasing stories for me is Chester Butler,

0:40:59 > 0:41:02who was a product of the Halifax reserve system, has come

0:41:02 > 0:41:06through the programme there, which is something I know

0:41:06 > 0:41:09Richard Marsh was really proud and pushed hard to keep at Halifax.

0:41:09 > 0:41:11To see him come out of there and produce the level of
