9:05:41 > 9:05:44Hello. We've got two perfect records on the line this week.
9:05:44 > 9:05:46It's week four of Super League
9:05:46 > 9:05:49and these are the numbers that matter from the season so far.
9:06:21 > 9:06:24Castleford led the way at the start of the round
9:06:24 > 9:06:26and their head coach Daryl Powell is with us.
9:06:26 > 9:06:30He's alongside the now former Huddersfield prop Eorl Crabtree.
9:06:30 > 9:06:33And we'll start with the chart-topping Castleford Tigers.
9:06:33 > 9:06:36Their perfect record was on the line at Widnes on Sunday
9:06:36 > 9:06:38and Matt Newsum was watching.
9:06:39 > 9:06:42Chris Bridge races in to dummy half,
9:06:42 > 9:06:44will take on the Castleford line.
9:06:44 > 9:06:45Tigers standing firm.
9:06:45 > 9:06:48Bridge shovels the ball away to White,
9:06:48 > 9:06:49who'll push it out to Craven.
9:06:49 > 9:06:51Here come Widnes. Looks for the dummy.
9:06:51 > 9:06:53Great little bit of play by Craven!
9:06:53 > 9:06:55Is he going to be held up here by Castleford?
9:06:55 > 9:06:59That is sterling defence from the Tigers.
9:07:03 > 9:07:05Gale to Junior Moors.
9:07:05 > 9:07:08Loves an off-load, Junior Moors.
9:07:08 > 9:07:10He's still going! He's managed to get one away to Gale.
9:07:10 > 9:07:13Castleford love to keep the ball alive,
9:07:13 > 9:07:16and that's what they've done here with Paul McShane.
9:07:16 > 9:07:19Out to this right edge they go. McMeeken looks to take on Widnes.
9:07:19 > 9:07:23Gets the ball away to Minikin, and he's been held up.
9:07:23 > 9:07:26Just outside the 10. McShane, once again,
9:07:26 > 9:07:29oh, it's a beautiful switch! Minikin pops one over the top.
9:07:29 > 9:07:33Minikin will touch down! And Castleford break the deadlock.
9:07:36 > 9:07:39Craven hoists one up.
9:07:40 > 9:07:42He's got Zak Hardaker on the scramble.
9:07:44 > 9:07:48And Castleford will bring the ball out in yardage from their own end.
9:07:49 > 9:07:53It's Ben Roberts in at dummy half. Will he take on the Widnes line?
9:07:53 > 9:07:56Yes, he will! He's found a little dogleg as well, and here he goes!
9:07:56 > 9:07:58Ben Roberts screaming through the centre.
9:07:58 > 9:07:59He's got Monaghan up in support.
9:07:59 > 9:08:03Monaghan takes the ball in. Have they lost momentum here?
9:08:03 > 9:08:05No, they haven't, because McMeeken has come charging onto it.
9:08:05 > 9:08:07He's got Minikin on his outside.
9:08:07 > 9:08:09He steps back infield,
9:08:09 > 9:08:11and Castleford score a thunderous try.
9:08:11 > 9:08:14Length of the field. Marvellous play.
9:08:20 > 9:08:22Tigers well-poised.
9:08:22 > 9:08:25Widnes trying to slow down the play of the ball,
9:08:25 > 9:08:27because Castleford have been 100mph here.
9:08:27 > 9:08:28Moors gets it away to Gale.
9:08:28 > 9:08:30Lifts on away to that left-hand side.
9:08:30 > 9:08:32Shenton!
9:08:32 > 9:08:33Shenton screams though.
9:08:33 > 9:08:35That's his 100th try in Super League.
9:08:38 > 9:08:42McShane, at the heart of everything Castleford have done so far.
9:08:42 > 9:08:44As Ben Roberts runs into traffic.
9:08:45 > 9:08:48Watch them lock him up high trying to stop that off-load,
9:08:48 > 9:08:50as McShane gets it away to Moors, Cook,
9:08:50 > 9:08:52on over to this left-hand side, Gale,
9:08:52 > 9:08:55lovely little tip-on by Michael Shenton,
9:08:55 > 9:08:57and Greg Eden will score in the corner!
9:08:57 > 9:08:59And that is magic from Shenton.
9:08:59 > 9:09:02Magic Mike for the Tigers.
9:09:04 > 9:09:07Junior Moors bullocking his way through the middle.
9:09:07 > 9:09:11Once again, Widnes just scrambling back into the line,
9:09:11 > 9:09:14trying to shut down this Castleford attack here.
9:09:14 > 9:09:16McShane. Will give it to Matt Cook.
9:09:16 > 9:09:17Cook goes for the line.
9:09:17 > 9:09:20Well, it took him till September to score last year,
9:09:20 > 9:09:23and that was against Widnes. He's got one already.
9:09:25 > 9:09:27McShane to Millington.
9:09:27 > 9:09:31Widnes don't know whether they're coming or going here.
9:09:31 > 9:09:33Because Castleford have been absolutely devastating.
9:09:33 > 9:09:36As Gale comes to this left edge, lovely little tip to Hardaker.
9:09:36 > 9:09:39Shenton again, and Greg Eden.
9:09:39 > 9:09:42Well, that is a marvellous try, and caps it.
9:09:42 > 9:09:44Castleford four wins in a row.
9:09:46 > 9:09:48Are you having to stop yourself just grinning,
9:09:48 > 9:09:50watching your team in action at the moment?
9:09:50 > 9:09:53Oh, well, there's just some quality play from the boys at the moment.
9:09:53 > 9:09:57We're in a groove, everybody knows what they're doing,
9:09:57 > 9:10:01er, they know the opposition well, the detail of play,
9:10:01 > 9:10:03and that we've got a Plan B.
9:10:03 > 9:10:05We got rattled a little bit in this game,
9:10:05 > 9:10:07and we found our way out of it.
9:10:07 > 9:10:10But some of the things that we do just make you feel good,
9:10:10 > 9:10:11and the players are enjoying
9:10:11 > 9:10:14playing the game we're playing at the moment.
9:10:14 > 9:10:17We're aware that we're going to be faced with some tough scenarios
9:10:17 > 9:10:18as we move forward,
9:10:18 > 9:10:21but at the moment we're enjoying what we're doing,
9:10:21 > 9:10:23and like I said, we're in a groove.
9:10:23 > 9:10:26I thought we were fantastic yesterday, with the ball,
9:10:26 > 9:10:28but more importantly defensively.
9:10:28 > 9:10:31To put a zip on the opposition's side of the scoreboard
9:10:31 > 9:10:34is great for us. Hasn't happened at Castleford in eight years,
9:10:34 > 9:10:37so we're proud that we've been able to do that,
9:10:37 > 9:10:39and it's a real foundation for us.
9:10:39 > 9:10:41Let's have a look at some of the attacking play.
9:10:41 > 9:10:44And it was a feature last week as well, that you seemed to be
9:10:44 > 9:10:46pulling sides, from one side of the field to another.
9:10:46 > 9:10:49I'm guessing a huge amount of coaching is going into some of this.
9:10:49 > 9:10:51Well, it's a mix, isn't it?
9:10:51 > 9:10:54It's a mix of individual players' ability,
9:10:54 > 9:10:56er, coaching and looking at different weaknesses,
9:10:56 > 9:10:59and then players just applying things
9:10:59 > 9:11:02that we practise all through the week
9:11:02 > 9:11:04and that we've been working hard on in pre-season.
9:11:04 > 9:11:08The pass that's just going to come up in this next one,
9:11:08 > 9:11:09you just sort of lick your lips at,
9:11:09 > 9:11:12but again, they're just moving the ball so well, aren't they?
9:11:12 > 9:11:15It's a skill that we work on significantly.
9:11:15 > 9:11:18I mean, for Michael Shenton to be able to do that -
9:11:18 > 9:11:20and I've no idea how Greg Eden pulled that in.
9:11:20 > 9:11:23It's just an unbelievable level of skill
9:11:23 > 9:11:25that we're exceptionally proud of.
9:11:25 > 9:11:28When the players can deliver skill levels like that,
9:11:28 > 9:11:31er, which is something we've worked on significantly,
9:11:31 > 9:11:33then that's what coaching's about for me.
9:11:33 > 9:11:35It's helping players to be able to deliver skill
9:11:35 > 9:11:39within the toughest environment, which is the competitive arena.
9:11:39 > 9:11:41It may sounds stupid only four games into the season,
9:11:41 > 9:11:44but are you having to try and keep a lid on things?
9:11:44 > 9:11:47Everybody almost seems to be handing out prizes to you now,
9:11:47 > 9:11:49that there is a long way to go,
9:11:49 > 9:11:51and you, I guess, still need them to develop even more.
9:11:51 > 9:11:53Oh, without a doubt.
9:11:53 > 9:11:55We know we're going to be challenged as we move forward.
9:11:55 > 9:11:58We've started the season well, that's all it is.
9:11:58 > 9:12:00We break our season down into blocks.
9:12:00 > 9:12:03We've just gone through our first block of games,
9:12:03 > 9:12:07and we've won four, so we're really pleased about that.
9:12:07 > 9:12:10What we need to be able to do now is push that behind us.
9:12:10 > 9:12:12I've been constantly talking to the players
9:12:12 > 9:12:14about the old saying of keeping your feet on the ground.
9:12:14 > 9:12:18It's staying level-headed and keep applying yourselves and working hard
9:12:18 > 9:12:22on a weekly basis. So you take each game as it comes.
9:12:22 > 9:12:24It... It gets boring in coaching,
9:12:24 > 9:12:28talking about every week and not getting ahead of yourselves,
9:12:28 > 9:12:29but it's an actual reality
9:12:29 > 9:12:32and it's something we're constantly talking about.
9:12:32 > 9:12:35I think it's the manner of our performances this year.
9:12:35 > 9:12:38And is the manner not just the attack we're all purring about,
9:12:38 > 9:12:40but the defence? As the coach, is that the key for you
9:12:40 > 9:12:42as to where your team is at, is how they're defending?
9:12:42 > 9:12:45Well, that's... We've played this way for the last three years.
9:12:45 > 9:12:48There's not been a significant amount of change.
9:12:48 > 9:12:51But the way that we've been defending,
9:12:51 > 9:12:53the way players are working so hard for each other,
9:12:53 > 9:12:58and a desire to keep our try line intact, is huge.
9:12:58 > 9:13:02This is a fantastic piece of play from Paul McShane
9:13:02 > 9:13:05and then our ability to turn defence into attack
9:13:05 > 9:13:09has been fantastic so far, as you see in this clip.
9:13:09 > 9:13:11So he's not only stolen the ball,
9:13:11 > 9:13:13he's thinking about what do we do next.
9:13:13 > 9:13:16And that's... That's a fantastic thing to have in your team,
9:13:16 > 9:13:20to be able to turn one part of the game into another.
9:13:20 > 9:13:25And I suppose this is a great part of our philosophy, Paul McShane,
9:13:25 > 9:13:29just a very clever piece of thinking over the try line.
9:13:29 > 9:13:31That's intelligent defence,
9:13:31 > 9:13:33which is something that you're always working towards.
9:13:33 > 9:13:36I have to say that I'm not the only one who's already looking ahead
9:13:36 > 9:13:40to you guys playing Wigan on April the 6th.
9:13:40 > 9:13:42I guess you have to put all that to one side
9:13:42 > 9:13:45and focus on the next game and the next game.
9:13:45 > 9:13:46Well, you can't play that game, can you?
9:13:46 > 9:13:49The only game we can play is Salford next up.
9:13:49 > 9:13:55So... I've seen it put around in all sorts of TV channels
9:13:55 > 9:13:58that this game's coming up, but it's way down the track.
9:13:58 > 9:14:00You know, Salford is our focus now.
9:14:00 > 9:14:03We've put the review behind us today
9:14:03 > 9:14:05and we move on to Salford and looking at what they do.
9:14:05 > 9:14:08And they're a challenge. I think they're a really good side.
9:14:08 > 9:14:10I think they've done a good job there.
9:14:10 > 9:14:14Do you just feel a bit of sympathy for Widnes who are a bit
9:14:14 > 9:14:16down on numbers coming up against Castleford?
9:14:16 > 9:14:19Though Dennis was very disappointed with how his team responded,
9:14:19 > 9:14:20that they didn't respond in the second half
9:14:20 > 9:14:22- after the half-time team talk. - Yeah, definitely.
9:14:22 > 9:14:25I can sympathise with them simply because I know exactly
9:14:25 > 9:14:26what we're going through at the moment.
9:14:26 > 9:14:29It's when you have those injuries, it's pretty difficult.
9:14:29 > 9:14:33And getting lads back as well and they're playing with injuries.
9:14:33 > 9:14:35It's that balance of trying to do the right thing
9:14:35 > 9:14:39for the players and the team and they're in a tough position.
9:14:39 > 9:14:40Such as us. Do you know,
9:14:40 > 9:14:42it's frustrating watching Castleford for me
9:14:42 > 9:14:44because I see how they play and I see
9:14:44 > 9:14:48how they're enjoying themselves, scoring points for fun,
9:14:48 > 9:14:50and I'm a bit envious of it.
9:14:50 > 9:14:53If you want to advertise a great sport like rugby league,
9:14:53 > 9:14:56I think Castle's sort of showing the way to do it.
9:14:56 > 9:14:59With great skill, great tries and working hard for each other.
9:14:59 > 9:15:01It's something that they've been renowned for.
9:15:01 > 9:15:03And it seems to be...
9:15:03 > 9:15:08- He's going to start blushing soon. - It's not just cos he's here!
9:15:08 > 9:15:12You know, I'm not after trying to get a shirt or anything like that!
9:15:12 > 9:15:13Sort that one out afterwards!
9:15:13 > 9:15:16Well, before that match at Widnes there were tributes
9:15:16 > 9:15:19to their former captain Mick Adams, who died last week.
9:15:19 > 9:15:21He won four Challenge Cups
9:15:21 > 9:15:23and represented Great Britain and England.
9:15:23 > 9:15:27Our condolences to his family and his friends.
9:15:28 > 9:15:31Well, Warrington and Wigan met for the first time
9:15:31 > 9:15:32since the Grand Final.
9:15:32 > 9:15:34They were pretty close last season,
9:15:34 > 9:15:37but after three wins for Wigan and three defeats for Warrington,
9:15:37 > 9:15:40they've been heading in different directions this time around.
9:15:40 > 9:15:44# I'm talking 'bout the highs
9:15:44 > 9:15:48# I'm talking 'bout the lows
9:15:48 > 9:15:52# I'm sticking by your side
9:15:52 > 9:15:56# No way I'm letting go
9:15:56 > 9:16:01- # I'm talking 'bout the highs - I'm talking 'bout the highs
9:16:01 > 9:16:07- # I'm talking 'bout the lows - I'm talking 'bout the lows... #
9:16:09 > 9:16:11A dummy half here.
9:16:11 > 9:16:13Wigan looking towards that right-hand side again.
9:16:16 > 9:16:20Escare motoring in.
9:16:20 > 9:16:21Leuluai.
9:16:23 > 9:16:26They've got a bit of width here on the left-hand side.
9:16:26 > 9:16:29It is a lovely, delicate little kick and Marshall, Liam Marshall,
9:16:29 > 9:16:34only his second appearance, is a Wigan try scorer.
9:16:34 > 9:16:35What a moment for the youngster.
9:16:42 > 9:16:44A good burst down the middle here by Forsyth.
9:16:44 > 9:16:47He's done really well and Escare is there in support.
9:16:47 > 9:16:49Escare is off.
9:16:49 > 9:16:50They're going to close him down.
9:16:50 > 9:16:54Kevin Brown across to make the tackle but Escare wriggling
9:16:54 > 9:16:57to his feet and Wigan with a real opportunity here.
9:16:57 > 9:17:02Williams trying to cut through himself.
9:17:02 > 9:17:03But he's cut down.
9:17:04 > 9:17:08Powell searching right again.
9:17:08 > 9:17:09And look at the numbers
9:17:09 > 9:17:13and Gelling is there for Wigan's second try.
9:17:19 > 9:17:20He has had a look.
9:17:20 > 9:17:22It's going to go to Leuluai on that right-hand side.
9:17:22 > 9:17:25Warrington's defences up quickly but they have not
9:17:25 > 9:17:26stopped the off-load.
9:17:26 > 9:17:27Escare skipping across here.
9:17:27 > 9:17:31Wigan asking a few pertinent questions again.
9:17:31 > 9:17:32Flower put down.
9:17:32 > 9:17:36Powell, now it comes left. O'Loughlin looks for the big pass
9:17:36 > 9:17:39which bounces into the hands of Marshall
9:17:39 > 9:17:42and gives him a second score.
9:17:43 > 9:17:45He's having quite a night.
9:17:53 > 9:17:59Williams going for the confrontation of Tautai.
9:17:59 > 9:18:03Taking on those three Warrington defenders.
9:18:03 > 9:18:06Powell, left of Williams,
9:18:06 > 9:18:09Williams scuttling to that left-hand side with a lovely soft pass.
9:18:09 > 9:18:13And Farrell is over again for Wigan.
9:18:13 > 9:18:15They're having quite a performance here tonight.
9:18:21 > 9:18:24Warrington needing something quickly here, you feel,
9:18:24 > 9:18:25to lift their spirits.
9:18:27 > 9:18:30Half-time is not that long away.
9:18:30 > 9:18:33So Clark going left.
9:18:33 > 9:18:36Step back in, Westerman with the off-load.
9:18:36 > 9:18:38Clark's involved again here.
9:18:38 > 9:18:39Trying to make something happen.
9:18:39 > 9:18:41He's kept it alive.
9:18:41 > 9:18:43Here's a chance. Oh, my word.
9:18:43 > 9:18:47Had it gone to the hands of Matty Russell, he was in to score.
9:18:50 > 9:18:51Clark.
9:18:55 > 9:18:57An opportunity to go wide here.
9:18:57 > 9:18:59Lineham. Oh, that's lovely footwork from Lineham.
9:18:59 > 9:19:01And he's left Forsyth there
9:19:01 > 9:19:04and has support on the inside from Kevin Brown
9:19:04 > 9:19:06who will look to find Atkins.
9:19:06 > 9:19:09It's a real eye-catching Warrington try
9:19:09 > 9:19:12just when they needed it the most.
9:19:12 > 9:19:14Just before half-time.
9:19:15 > 9:19:16Well, that will lift them.
9:19:21 > 9:19:24And the fans sensing that there's something on here.
9:19:24 > 9:19:26Working the blind side again. Atkins.
9:19:27 > 9:19:29Flicking it away.
9:19:29 > 9:19:31Still second tackle.
9:19:31 > 9:19:35So they've got a lot of ball to play with here in this position.
9:19:35 > 9:19:37Marshall picks it up.
9:19:37 > 9:19:43And Liam Marshall will run away for a memorable hat-trick.
9:19:43 > 9:19:45Two games into his Wigan career
9:19:45 > 9:19:47and he's already a hat-trick hero.
9:19:48 > 9:19:51And barely a flicker of emotion on his face.
9:19:55 > 9:19:56Powell.
9:19:59 > 9:20:01On the inside there, searching again.
9:20:01 > 9:20:04But Warrington's defence holding up for the moment.
9:20:04 > 9:20:07They can ill afford to concede again at this stage.
9:20:07 > 9:20:10Oh, that's a lovely little run
9:20:10 > 9:20:16and touch. That has seen Wells get over for his debut try.
9:20:16 > 9:20:18Big moment for the youngster.
9:20:18 > 9:20:19They're all cashing in.
9:20:24 > 9:20:25Sims.
9:20:26 > 9:20:28And across the line it goes.
9:20:28 > 9:20:31And brushing away the defence,
9:20:31 > 9:20:33Rhys Evans.
9:20:33 > 9:20:35But it's come late in the game.
9:20:36 > 9:20:38And they know they're still up against it.
9:20:41 > 9:20:43Clark running out there.
9:20:45 > 9:20:47Back to Brown, puts the kick
9:20:47 > 9:20:48and the chase on.
9:20:48 > 9:20:51Escare gets there first and is able to pick it up cleanly.
9:20:51 > 9:20:54And he beats a couple of defenders
9:20:54 > 9:20:55on his way out of trouble.
9:20:58 > 9:20:59Here's a break by Gelling,
9:20:59 > 9:21:01who is pushing off defenders.
9:21:01 > 9:21:03Gelling going well.
9:21:03 > 9:21:06Evans comes across there to make the tackle in the end,
9:21:06 > 9:21:08but look how many yards they've made,
9:21:08 > 9:21:11and as Gelling tries to get up and play it,
9:21:11 > 9:21:14second effort by Evans has given Wigan a penalty
9:21:14 > 9:21:15right in front of the sticks.
9:21:15 > 9:21:17There'll be no temptation to kick for goal,
9:21:17 > 9:21:19not at this stage of the game.
9:21:19 > 9:21:21They're going for the jugular again.
9:21:22 > 9:21:23That was Navarette.
9:21:26 > 9:21:27Here's Williams.
9:21:29 > 9:21:32Farrell running away from defenders, making space,
9:21:32 > 9:21:34and look who's in again.
9:21:34 > 9:21:38Liam Marshall, his fourth try of the night.
9:21:38 > 9:21:41Well, hardly a celebration going on,
9:21:41 > 9:21:44but my word, what a game.
9:21:46 > 9:21:48Dwyer.
9:21:51 > 9:21:53Now it comes left to Gidley.
9:21:55 > 9:21:56Gidley's chopped down.
9:21:57 > 9:22:01Atkins. He runs from dummy half.
9:22:01 > 9:22:03It's a wonderfully worked move
9:22:03 > 9:22:06for Lineham to score in the corner.
9:22:06 > 9:22:08But the pain on Lineham's face rather summing up
9:22:08 > 9:22:10the night for Warrington.
9:22:10 > 9:22:12But that was a lovely moment for them.
9:22:15 > 9:22:17So, into the final seconds here,
9:22:17 > 9:22:21and the hooter sounding in the background.
9:22:21 > 9:22:26Flower will take it in, a thumping good win for Wigan.
9:22:26 > 9:22:28Really good performance by them,
9:22:28 > 9:22:32but it is now four defeats from four for the Warrington Wolves.
9:22:34 > 9:22:37Is this a slightly different Wigan team that we're seeing,
9:22:37 > 9:22:38a different style of play?
9:22:38 > 9:22:41It looks like one to me, and they've always been renowned
9:22:41 > 9:22:44for being a tough, physical team
9:22:44 > 9:22:46with lots of intent,
9:22:46 > 9:22:47intent to hurt,
9:22:47 > 9:22:48intent to get off the line
9:22:48 > 9:22:50and defend hard, and that's what they do,
9:22:50 > 9:22:52but now they're throwing the ball around a lot more.
9:22:52 > 9:22:55They seem to be breaking through tackles in the middle field,
9:22:55 > 9:22:57the centres, which... You don't even know
9:22:57 > 9:22:59why they'd be there for a Wigan side.
9:22:59 > 9:23:02The structure seems to be disappearing a little bit.
9:23:02 > 9:23:04It's still there, but with the half-backs as well
9:23:04 > 9:23:06playing really well, I think this is a different Wigan side,
9:23:06 > 9:23:09and it's the best rugby. We were talking about before with Darryl,
9:23:09 > 9:23:11who was saying this is the best rugby
9:23:11 > 9:23:12that they've actually played, for us,
9:23:12 > 9:23:15you know, the style of play, it's a lot more interesting to watch,
9:23:15 > 9:23:17but they look very dangerous as well with it.
9:23:17 > 9:23:20And how are you seeing George Williams develop within that?
9:23:20 > 9:23:23Actually, his coach, ever critical, said he didn't think
9:23:23 > 9:23:26this was his best game, that there were a couple of mistakes in there.
9:23:26 > 9:23:29But how are you seeing him begin to take control in that middle?
9:23:29 > 9:23:32Well, he's just a good player, isn't he?
9:23:32 > 9:23:33He's an instinctive player,
9:23:33 > 9:23:35and he's going to make mistakes.
9:23:35 > 9:23:38Half-backs who are creative and want to make things happen
9:23:38 > 9:23:42make mistakes, but he's a significant part of this Wigan team.
9:23:42 > 9:23:45Just his ability to kick in attacking positions
9:23:45 > 9:23:49is as good as anything else in the competition.
9:23:49 > 9:23:53And he's very, very strong, so his running game is a threat,
9:23:53 > 9:23:55so he attracts defenders in to him,
9:23:55 > 9:23:57and the way he played on their left edge,
9:23:57 > 9:24:00you see him skipping across and playing short.
9:24:00 > 9:24:03- That's a significant threat to teams.- And how significant is he?
9:24:03 > 9:24:06You see him leading and talking, and Wayne Bennett picked it up,
9:24:06 > 9:24:07he said he's very quiet.
9:24:07 > 9:24:10Is that the bit that he has had to develop?
9:24:10 > 9:24:13Yeah, well, young half-backs, young people generally take
9:24:13 > 9:24:16a little bit more time to develop their communication skills.
9:24:16 > 9:24:18It's just a part of human nature.
9:24:18 > 9:24:20So he's growing all the time as a player.
9:24:20 > 9:24:22He's still very young, but he's a threat.
9:24:22 > 9:24:25He's a good kicking game, he's a good passing game,
9:24:25 > 9:24:26he's very strong as a ball carrier,
9:24:26 > 9:24:28so he's a significant threat.
9:24:28 > 9:24:30He's got Tommy Leuluai in there with him now.
9:24:30 > 9:24:32So he's got an experienced player alongside him,
9:24:32 > 9:24:34so it looks like a really good combination,
9:24:34 > 9:24:36and very difficult to deal with.
9:24:36 > 9:24:38They're both very strong ball-carriers
9:24:38 > 9:24:40as well as being good with both kicking games
9:24:40 > 9:24:43and their ability to pass, so...
9:24:43 > 9:24:45And the production line keeps on rolling.
9:24:45 > 9:24:47Both wingers out, two new ones come in,
9:24:47 > 9:24:48Liam Marshall getting four tries.
9:24:48 > 9:24:51It is incredible these kids just keep coming through,
9:24:51 > 9:24:52and they slot straight in, don't they?
9:24:52 > 9:24:55Yeah, the pool they can choose from is absolutely fantastic,
9:24:55 > 9:24:58and no matter who they put into that team, they always seem to do a job,
9:24:58 > 9:25:00and I think they won the Grand Final
9:25:00 > 9:25:02with pretty much half the team missing,
9:25:02 > 9:25:04with all these youngsters coming through,
9:25:04 > 9:25:06but then they become regulars, and someone else will drop out
9:25:06 > 9:25:08through injury, and they'll bring someone else in
9:25:08 > 9:25:12again to score tries, and still play like the Wigan team do.
9:25:12 > 9:25:15And again, that's a frustrating thing to see, but at the same time,
9:25:15 > 9:25:17it's absolutely fantastic. What they're doing,
9:25:17 > 9:25:19they're doing really well.
9:25:19 > 9:25:22Are you surprised at how well Morgan Escare has fitted in to that
9:25:22 > 9:25:24and how much he's bringing to the team?
9:25:24 > 9:25:26Yeah, it was interesting when he signed for Wigan.
9:25:26 > 9:25:28You're thinking, they've got Sam Tomkins,
9:25:28 > 9:25:29he is a significant part of them as a team,
9:25:29 > 9:25:33but I thought he was outstanding in this game.
9:25:33 > 9:25:35He's kicking a hell of a lot, and he was very accurate with that.
9:25:35 > 9:25:37He's obviously very quick.
9:25:37 > 9:25:40He looks strong, stronger defensively,
9:25:40 > 9:25:43he looks like he's a little bit bigger than he was at Catalans.
9:25:43 > 9:25:46And it looks like they've put a fair bit of confidence in him
9:25:46 > 9:25:49and allowed him to play, so he's a threat, he's a good player.
9:25:49 > 9:25:52How worried will Sam Tomkins be, watching this?
9:25:52 > 9:25:53I think he should be worried, as well,
9:25:53 > 9:25:56because this isn't the same player I've seen before, Escare.
9:25:56 > 9:25:59This is his twin brother or something that has come from Wigan,
9:25:59 > 9:26:01because he's a total different breed.
9:26:01 > 9:26:02He's a lot bigger, a lot stronger.
9:26:02 > 9:26:04He's always had the pace like you talked about.
9:26:04 > 9:26:06But he just seems like he's got more presence now,
9:26:06 > 9:26:09and a player that is to be feared.
9:26:09 > 9:26:10And what do you make of Warrington?
9:26:10 > 9:26:12What's going wrong there?
9:26:12 > 9:26:14Oh, it's a difficult one, isn't it?
9:26:14 > 9:26:16I mean, they started the season off so well,
9:26:16 > 9:26:20winning the World Cup Challenge, and they were superb that night,
9:26:20 > 9:26:21and we had to play them the week after.
9:26:21 > 9:26:24And we were thinking, wow. I mean, the way that they played,
9:26:24 > 9:26:26and I think they made two errors all night.
9:26:26 > 9:26:28And now they're making errors,
9:26:28 > 9:26:31they look like they've lost a little bit of confidence.
9:26:31 > 9:26:33So this is a huge game for them this week.
9:26:33 > 9:26:35I mean, Wigan were superb in that game,
9:26:35 > 9:26:37and made life really difficult for them,
9:26:37 > 9:26:40and they need to get back on track very, very quickly,
9:26:40 > 9:26:44or you saw what happened to Leeds and Huddersfield last year.
9:26:44 > 9:26:47It's tough when you lose a significant portion of games.
9:26:47 > 9:26:51There's only 23 rounds, so this is a huge game for them.
9:26:51 > 9:26:53Well, the next two teams that we have got have been
9:26:53 > 9:26:56to the million pound game and lived to tell the tale.
9:26:56 > 9:26:59It's Wakefield against Salford, with commentary from Richard Stead.
9:27:02 > 9:27:03Early stages, then,
9:27:03 > 9:27:07good carry from Anthony England for Wakefield Trinity.
9:27:07 > 9:27:09Oh...
9:27:09 > 9:27:10Very clumsy looking, that.
9:27:10 > 9:27:13Lama Tasi could be in trouble here.
9:27:13 > 9:27:15Robert Hicks says ten minutes in the bin,
9:27:15 > 9:27:17and Salford are down to 12 two minutes in.
9:27:19 > 9:27:20Tasi's on his way.
9:27:22 > 9:27:24Tomkins to Lui.
9:27:24 > 9:27:26Murdoch-Masila.
9:27:27 > 9:27:29And... Ooh, that could be a penalty.
9:27:31 > 9:27:34And you wonder if Salford might take the two here.
9:27:34 > 9:27:35O'Brien.
9:27:35 > 9:27:37And the deadlock is broken,
9:27:37 > 9:27:39Salford lead 2-0.
9:27:41 > 9:27:43Grix to the line. Oh, that was high.
9:27:45 > 9:27:48Could be a chance here for a Wakefield penalty.
9:27:50 > 9:27:53Sam Williams through the uprights, two points apiece.
9:27:56 > 9:27:59Miller along the line.
9:27:59 > 9:28:01Tinirau Arona to Grix.
9:28:02 > 9:28:05And, ooh, the ball's come loose.
9:28:05 > 9:28:08Another penalty here and Tompkins has been guilty of a few,
9:28:08 > 9:28:09and he's going to spend ten minutes in the bin.
9:28:11 > 9:28:14Salford down to 12 for the second time in this first half.
9:28:17 > 9:28:19Williams.
9:28:19 > 9:28:21Pretty regulation stuff, Wakefield lead.
9:28:24 > 9:28:26Here come Trinity.
9:28:26 > 9:28:28Finn. Nice combinations there.
9:28:28 > 9:28:30To Reece Lyne.
9:28:30 > 9:28:32And that's nicely taken in the end there.
9:28:32 > 9:28:35Reece Lyne over for the first try of the afternoon.
9:28:37 > 9:28:39Grix. Ashurst.
9:28:40 > 9:28:41Good break, this.
9:28:43 > 9:28:45Johnston kicks through,
9:28:45 > 9:28:47Miller and Grix are chasing.
9:28:47 > 9:28:49It's a foot race, and Miller's in.
9:28:49 > 9:28:51Miller's in and Wakefield extend their advantage.
9:28:54 > 9:28:57A chance now for Salford. Lui, flat pass.
9:28:57 > 9:29:00Murdoch-Masila barges his way over.
9:29:00 > 9:29:02It's taken ten minutes, but they've struck.
9:29:05 > 9:29:06Dobson to Lui.
9:29:06 > 9:29:08Here's O'Brien. Kris Welham.
9:29:08 > 9:29:09Welham will be in here.
9:29:09 > 9:29:11Salford score again.
9:29:14 > 9:29:16All Red Devils at the moment.
9:29:17 > 9:29:19Here's Robert Lui.
9:29:19 > 9:29:22O'Brien. Greg Johnson.
9:29:22 > 9:29:23Oh, Magic Johnson!
9:29:23 > 9:29:25Wonderful finish, how has he got that down?
9:29:28 > 9:29:29Dobson.
9:29:31 > 9:29:32Griffin.
9:29:32 > 9:29:35Oh, he's in! Griffin is in.
9:29:35 > 9:29:36It's all The Red Devils.
9:29:38 > 9:29:39What can Wakefield do?
9:29:41 > 9:29:44A chance maybe here... Oh, a try here!
9:29:44 > 9:29:47Bill Tupou scores for Wakefield. Glimmers.
9:29:50 > 9:29:51Huby. Miller.
9:29:54 > 9:29:55Reece Lyne.
9:29:55 > 9:29:56Reece Lyne's in!
9:29:57 > 9:30:00Levelling things up for Wakefield.
9:30:02 > 9:30:05Two minutes to go, this to take the lead for Wakefield Trinity
9:30:05 > 9:30:07and it's through!
9:30:07 > 9:30:09It's through.
9:30:09 > 9:30:11Have they stolen it at the death?
9:30:13 > 9:30:17Salford desperate to keep it alive.
9:30:17 > 9:30:19Dobson, Flanagan, Lui,
9:30:19 > 9:30:22Murdoch-Masila to win a thriller!
9:30:22 > 9:30:24Oh, he's bounced that. Wakefield win!
9:30:24 > 9:30:26Wakefield win. He's dropped it.
9:30:30 > 9:30:31A look of despair there from Salford.
9:30:31 > 9:30:33Let's take another look at that, Ben Murdoch-Masila,
9:30:33 > 9:30:36because Ian Watson was saying afterwards if there were sky cameras
9:30:36 > 9:30:38at every game and all the rest of it,
9:30:38 > 9:30:40slow-motion replays, this might have been given.
9:30:40 > 9:30:42Do you reckon he bounced it?
9:30:42 > 9:30:44Well, looks like it, doesn't it?
9:30:44 > 9:30:47Erm... Yeah, he dropped that.
9:30:47 > 9:30:49Is the giveaway the player himself?
9:30:49 > 9:30:51He's not jumping around questioning the ref.
9:30:51 > 9:30:54Well, he doesn't look that excited, does he? So...
9:30:54 > 9:30:56Yeah, you know as a player.
9:30:56 > 9:30:59I think referees generally get the right sort of call.
9:30:59 > 9:31:01It's not like there are a lot of people around the player
9:31:01 > 9:31:06trying to score there, so for me, it looks like he put the ball down.
9:31:06 > 9:31:09Wakefield though, they've had really close games
9:31:09 > 9:31:10every single game this season.
9:31:10 > 9:31:12Came through last week and to build on that,
9:31:12 > 9:31:14the confidence looks really good in there, doesn't it?
9:31:14 > 9:31:17Yeah, it does. They're playing some good stuff again.
9:31:17 > 9:31:19They've got some great players, passing the ball around a lot more
9:31:19 > 9:31:21than what they used to do as well,
9:31:21 > 9:31:23so they're playing out the forwards which is nice to see,
9:31:23 > 9:31:26but they just seem to be working hard, they've got that confidence.
9:31:26 > 9:31:29And even against us, they were the better team in the game against us
9:31:29 > 9:31:31even though we managed to go on and win the game.
9:31:31 > 9:31:33So I think they probably learned a couple of lessons
9:31:33 > 9:31:36out of that as well. So it seems to have done the trick.
9:31:36 > 9:31:39They're working hard and enjoying what they are doing as well.
9:31:39 > 9:31:42Another team that have signed really well,
9:31:42 > 9:31:44and they're getting the rewards for that.
9:31:44 > 9:31:46Are you expecting Salford to come out all guns blazing
9:31:46 > 9:31:47against you guys?
9:31:47 > 9:31:49I would have thought so.
9:31:49 > 9:31:51They'll... They're always confident at home.
9:31:51 > 9:31:55You're always looking to respond when you've lost a game anyway.
9:31:55 > 9:31:57And we found them really tough to play against last year,
9:31:57 > 9:32:00so, yeah, I'm expecting a really difficult game.
9:32:00 > 9:32:03Well, Leigh Centurions were looking to double their tally for the season
9:32:03 > 9:32:05when they faced Huddersfield on Friday,
9:32:05 > 9:32:07and your old team-mates came up against some strong resistance,
9:32:07 > 9:32:09- didn't they, Eorl? - Yeah, straight away.
9:32:09 > 9:32:11I mean, we had some good opportunities in this game.
9:32:11 > 9:32:13Leroy Cudjoe going very close.
9:32:13 > 9:32:16But it's that Leigh defence. They work so hard.
9:32:16 > 9:32:17They made it very difficult
9:32:17 > 9:32:21and every time we got an opportunity, they just held us out.
9:32:21 > 9:32:23Now, we know they've got some ability,
9:32:23 > 9:32:25and they passed the ball wide on this occasion.
9:32:25 > 9:32:26Getting finally into the corner,
9:32:26 > 9:32:28but that, for us, is a soft try
9:32:28 > 9:32:31where we're pretty much dictating to them what they're going to do.
9:32:31 > 9:32:35And then this again, it... It's just not good enough.
9:32:35 > 9:32:36A couple of opportunities,
9:32:36 > 9:32:39Acton there with a try which was just a soft barge over,
9:32:39 > 9:32:42and again, it made things difficult.
9:32:42 > 9:32:45This was a good one with Seb Ikahihifo.
9:32:45 > 9:32:47Pelissier is actually gouging his face there
9:32:47 > 9:32:49and Seb just let him know about it
9:32:49 > 9:32:52and then it was all guns blazing, literally.
9:32:52 > 9:32:53And it's not a great sight.
9:32:53 > 9:32:55It's the frustration that we've probably got on our side,
9:32:55 > 9:32:56and also them as well.
9:32:56 > 9:32:58They go in with arrogance when they play,
9:32:58 > 9:33:01They do have that cockiness which I've talked about before,
9:33:01 > 9:33:03and you can see they puff their chests out,
9:33:03 > 9:33:05and I'd like us to do that a little bit more.
9:33:05 > 9:33:07Is that something that you guys are lacking?
9:33:07 > 9:33:10We are lacking confidence massively. It's very hard.
9:33:10 > 9:33:12This is Gaskell making the wrong decision.
9:33:12 > 9:33:14He's trying to do the best he can,
9:33:14 > 9:33:18and I think he feared the ball would actually go out,
9:33:18 > 9:33:20and on that occasion, it didn't.
9:33:20 > 9:33:23And then our heads dropped. That was 18-0 there.
9:33:23 > 9:33:25This takes them another try in front,
9:33:25 > 9:33:29and then getting up to the last try, it just wasn't good enough.
9:33:29 > 9:33:32You could see the body language of the players,
9:33:32 > 9:33:34and we talked about the mood before,
9:33:34 > 9:33:37and sometimes I think that's what you have got to change.
9:33:37 > 9:33:39Not so much the style of play,
9:33:39 > 9:33:44but trying to improve the confidence and making a bit of a happier camp.
9:33:44 > 9:33:46Leigh, though, seemed to have learned a huge amount
9:33:46 > 9:33:50from that opening game when you beat them fairly comfortably.
9:33:50 > 9:33:53Yeah, well, it was always going to be a bit of a transition period
9:33:53 > 9:33:56into Super League, but I think they've done it really well,
9:33:56 > 9:33:58and quickly as well, and obviously to beat Saint Helens at home
9:33:58 > 9:34:00and then they win this game...
9:34:00 > 9:34:03They've had a couple of tough games.
9:34:03 > 9:34:06They lost to Wigan, they've lost to ourselves, but they're doing well.
9:34:06 > 9:34:09I think they're doing better than anybody would have anticipated,
9:34:09 > 9:34:11and they're on the board now.
9:34:11 > 9:34:13They've got a couple of wins. They'll be confident
9:34:13 > 9:34:15with the home form, and this Thursday's game -
9:34:15 > 9:34:17I'm looking forward to seeing this Thursday's game.
9:34:17 > 9:34:20I think it's going to be really interesting to see
9:34:20 > 9:34:22how Warrington fare against them.
9:34:22 > 9:34:25No team had scored fewer points than St Helens
9:34:25 > 9:34:26in the opening weeks of the season,
9:34:26 > 9:34:29and they were up against the competition's meanest defence
9:34:29 > 9:34:30in Hull on Friday.
9:34:30 > 9:34:31Dave Woods saw this one.
9:34:35 > 9:34:37Danny Houghton moving over dummy half again here
9:34:37 > 9:34:39and Hull continuing to attack.
9:34:39 > 9:34:42A little drop of the shoulder by Albert Kelly,
9:34:42 > 9:34:43which has taken him close,
9:34:43 > 9:34:45but enough St Helens defenders to make sure
9:34:45 > 9:34:47that's not too much of a threat.
9:34:47 > 9:34:51And again, they're pummelling that line with the off-load.
9:34:51 > 9:34:53Little flick away.
9:34:53 > 9:34:54Somehow they get it away.
9:34:54 > 9:34:56Here's Kelly now. Reaching.
9:34:56 > 9:34:58And I think he's got the try.
9:35:00 > 9:35:02He's convinced and so is he.
9:35:02 > 9:35:05And Hull with the opening score.
9:35:08 > 9:35:12Fages with a corkscrew kick back to the middle.
9:35:12 > 9:35:14Oh, it's been lost.
9:35:14 > 9:35:15A kick in the air.
9:35:15 > 9:35:17And Dominic Peyroux will score.
9:35:17 > 9:35:21Comedy of errors from Hull, and Saints are back.
9:35:23 > 9:35:24What a way to do it.
9:35:26 > 9:35:30Dashing down the blindside but they come near.
9:35:30 > 9:35:32Amor.
9:35:32 > 9:35:33Pushing it in and pushing hard.
9:35:35 > 9:35:37Looking to get up and play it and the referee deciding
9:35:37 > 9:35:40that Danny Houghton was hanging on too long.
9:35:42 > 9:35:45So the penalty right in front of the sticks.
9:35:46 > 9:35:49St Helens decide to go for goal here.
9:35:51 > 9:35:55Percival, in the dying embers of this first half,
9:35:55 > 9:35:57gives St Helens a two point lead.
9:36:03 > 9:36:05Here's a push by Minichiello.
9:36:07 > 9:36:09Cunningham looking on.
9:36:10 > 9:36:13Hull looking to do some danger here.
9:36:13 > 9:36:15Amor came and a flap of the arm
9:36:15 > 9:36:20which the referee has decided was a little dangerous.
9:36:20 > 9:36:23It was going down but still high enough.
9:36:27 > 9:36:29So the penalty given.
9:36:30 > 9:36:34And Mark Sneyd, four minutes into this second half,
9:36:34 > 9:36:36will make it all square again. The kick's a good one.
9:36:36 > 9:36:40His name echoes around the KCOM. It's eight points apiece.
9:36:42 > 9:36:43Houghton.
9:36:44 > 9:36:46Ball rolls back to him and out it goes.
9:36:46 > 9:36:48Little flick.
9:36:48 > 9:36:50Well, it's on the floor. St Helens have it back,
9:36:50 > 9:36:53but there was a challenge there on Sneyd...
9:36:55 > 9:36:57..which the referee has spotted.
9:36:58 > 9:37:01A kick and a chase and Peyroux clearly across,
9:37:01 > 9:37:03late and with the shoulder.
9:37:05 > 9:37:09So they haven't had the lead for a good chunk of the game.
9:37:09 > 9:37:12Sneyd looks to put that right from his side's point of view
9:37:12 > 9:37:13and he does.
9:37:13 > 9:37:14They edge ahead, do Hull.
9:37:20 > 9:37:22Roby.
9:37:22 > 9:37:24Coming out to that right-hand side.
9:37:24 > 9:37:27Oh, there's... A little bit of... What's going on here
9:37:27 > 9:37:29between Turgut and Walmsley?
9:37:30 > 9:37:33Play continues meanwhile. I'm not sure for how long
9:37:33 > 9:37:36because there's quite a kerfuffle going on in the middle.
9:37:36 > 9:37:38The referee eventually stops the clock
9:37:38 > 9:37:42and will have a little conversation here with the players involved
9:37:42 > 9:37:45and with his two touch judges too.
9:37:45 > 9:37:47Ooh, and that's a definite use of the elbow there,
9:37:47 > 9:37:49isn't it, from Turgut?
9:37:49 > 9:37:52Into the face of Alex Walmsley.
9:37:54 > 9:37:56He is reaching for a card. What colour is it going to be?
9:37:56 > 9:37:59It's yellow. He's off for ten minutes is Turgut.
9:38:00 > 9:38:02Well, he shakes his head
9:38:02 > 9:38:05but quite clearly here knocked that arm in the face,
9:38:05 > 9:38:08it's this elbow there that looked quite deliberate.
9:38:11 > 9:38:15Percival to square things up.
9:38:15 > 9:38:1740 metres out, no problem with the distance,
9:38:17 > 9:38:21no problem with the angles and it's ten apiece.
9:38:23 > 9:38:26Roby dashing out there. Here comes Theo Fages.
9:38:26 > 9:38:30He's found a bit of space here has Fages and has support as well.
9:38:30 > 9:38:32Well, they've got themselves
9:38:32 > 9:38:35in a very decent position here, St Helens.
9:38:35 > 9:38:37Roby goes left. Fages again.
9:38:37 > 9:38:39Into the hands of Percival,
9:38:39 > 9:38:42who will slide over to score.
9:38:42 > 9:38:45And St Helens back in the lead.
9:38:47 > 9:38:49What a crucial moment this might be.
9:38:53 > 9:38:54Houghton.
9:38:56 > 9:38:58Well, they're finding a position here.
9:38:58 > 9:39:00They've got four tackles to go.
9:39:02 > 9:39:05Kelly looks at what support he's got here.
9:39:05 > 9:39:08That hand is good. And Carlos Tuimavave steps inside.
9:39:09 > 9:39:12A couple of flimsy St Helens tackles.
9:39:12 > 9:39:14And he's over to score.
9:39:16 > 9:39:18And again, it's getting a little heated here.
9:39:23 > 9:39:27The ref's given the try. Oh, he's given an 8-point try.
9:39:27 > 9:39:33He's given an 8-point try, a foul as the try was scored, he's decided.
9:39:33 > 9:39:36Tuimavave touches down
9:39:36 > 9:39:39and it's that that he's given the extra penalty for.
9:39:42 > 9:39:44Sneyd will kick the conversion.
9:39:47 > 9:39:49So that's the lead, 16-14.
9:39:49 > 9:39:52Have a look at this. It seems a little harsh, does it?
9:39:52 > 9:39:53That's the referee's view.
9:39:53 > 9:39:58Decided the knee was involved which is why another kick has been given.
9:39:58 > 9:40:00And the eight points gathered in.
9:40:00 > 9:40:0318-14. Hull lead.
9:40:05 > 9:40:07Roby.
9:40:07 > 9:40:11St Helens desperately needing something here.
9:40:11 > 9:40:13And they're keeping it alive with Percival
9:40:13 > 9:40:17and Swift does well to keep in play.
9:40:18 > 9:40:20Well, it's still the full tackle
9:40:20 > 9:40:22and still they have a chance here
9:40:22 > 9:40:24with an overlap down that right-hand side.
9:40:25 > 9:40:29Flicked away. Owens comes back towards the middle.
9:40:29 > 9:40:30Fages.
9:40:30 > 9:40:32It's Saints of old here almost.
9:40:32 > 9:40:34They're still keeping it alive.
9:40:34 > 9:40:36There still remains a threat.
9:40:36 > 9:40:39Percival puts on the speed here.
9:40:39 > 9:40:40Steps inside.
9:40:40 > 9:40:42Has beaten three.
9:40:42 > 9:40:44He keeps it going backwards.
9:40:44 > 9:40:46Fages again and eventually dragged down.
9:40:48 > 9:40:49So five tackles.
9:40:49 > 9:40:51Here comes the last.
9:40:51 > 9:40:54To Wilkin now. Wilkin with a little chip.
9:40:54 > 9:40:57Oh, it flies out of play.
9:40:57 > 9:41:00And that might be it for St Helens.
9:41:01 > 9:41:03The frustration is clear.
9:41:06 > 9:41:07So, Houghton.
9:41:07 > 9:41:11Hull only had to keep hold of the ball here.
9:41:11 > 9:41:12They're doing better than that.
9:41:12 > 9:41:16Taylor's on the way through and it's going to be finished.
9:41:16 > 9:41:19Finished with a little style by Albert Kelly.
9:41:19 > 9:41:22Enough to win the game and break St Helens' hearts.
9:41:22 > 9:41:24First home win of the year for Hull,
9:41:24 > 9:41:27a third defeat on the bounce for Saints.
9:41:30 > 9:41:32Well, let's start with the 8-point try.
9:41:32 > 9:41:33Not something we see very often.
9:41:33 > 9:41:36I don't know which one of you wish to go on this one.
9:41:36 > 9:41:40Was it an 8-point try for you or are they a little bit unlucky?
9:41:40 > 9:41:42Well, it didn't make a difference anyway, did it?
9:41:42 > 9:41:45But for me, he has played at him late
9:41:45 > 9:41:50and he's made contact with his knee into his ribs.
9:41:50 > 9:41:52It's pretty dangerous and I don't think there's any need.
9:41:52 > 9:41:56There's nothing major in it, but it is an 8-point try.
9:41:56 > 9:41:59You can't... It was a foul in the act of scoring a try
9:41:59 > 9:42:02and I wouldn't want that in my rib cage, to be fair.
9:42:02 > 9:42:04No, I wouldn't want a lot of the things
9:42:04 > 9:42:05that go on on a rugby pitch.
9:42:05 > 9:42:08But Keiron not impressed.
9:42:08 > 9:42:12Hull, a grafting win from them, would you say?
9:42:12 > 9:42:14A lot more to come from them?
9:42:14 > 9:42:16Yeah, grafting, rugged, scrappy.
9:42:16 > 9:42:18I think that was the whole game overall.
9:42:18 > 9:42:21I thought there was some good passages of play within the game.
9:42:21 > 9:42:24But overall, just a scrappy performance by both sides
9:42:24 > 9:42:26but sometimes those are the games,
9:42:26 > 9:42:28especially at the back end of the season,
9:42:28 > 9:42:29you've got to win those sort of games.
9:42:29 > 9:42:32Not normally classics. This was not a classic.
9:42:32 > 9:42:36I think the best part of the game was the last try actually.
9:42:36 > 9:42:38Scott Taylor through to Albert Kelly,
9:42:38 > 9:42:40under the sticks for a swan dive of a finish.
9:42:40 > 9:42:43That was probably the most exciting part for me personally.
9:42:43 > 9:42:46Tough for Keiron because they built so much around Matty Smith.
9:42:46 > 9:42:48You've also got Johnny Lomax out.
9:42:48 > 9:42:50Are they just... Do you get the sense that they're just
9:42:50 > 9:42:54waiting for Matty Smith to come back and do what they did in pre-season?
9:42:54 > 9:42:55Yeah, it looks like it, doesn't it?
9:42:55 > 9:42:57But you don't really want to get to that point.
9:42:57 > 9:43:00You don't want to feel like your team revolves around
9:43:00 > 9:43:01two players. It shouldn't do.
9:43:01 > 9:43:04You should be able to deal with a couple of injuries.
9:43:04 > 9:43:07I mean, who'd want to be a coach? I mean, that game...
9:43:07 > 9:43:09you could see the tension etched on both coaches.
9:43:09 > 9:43:11But you are a coach!
9:43:12 > 9:43:16Yeah. The tension and Kieron is obviously in a tough situation.
9:43:16 > 9:43:19They've lost three out of their first four games.
9:43:19 > 9:43:22So there's some coaches under pressure.
9:43:22 > 9:43:25And it's the beauty of it, it's the tension of it.
9:43:25 > 9:43:27But, yeah, there's some pressure on at the moment!
9:43:27 > 9:43:29You're the one sitting there grinning. You're all right.
9:43:29 > 9:43:32Now, he can do the Rubik's cube in double quick time
9:43:32 > 9:43:34and he is not bad on the piano either,
9:43:34 > 9:43:37but what does Ryan Hall know about the really important things in life?
9:43:37 > 9:43:39It is time for Set Of Six.
9:43:48 > 9:43:49Er, London, Paris, Madrid,
9:43:49 > 9:43:52Berlin, Tokyo, Beijing.
9:43:55 > 9:43:58Harry Potter, er...Hermione Granger,
9:43:58 > 9:43:59Ron Weasley,
9:43:59 > 9:44:01er, Dumbledore,
9:44:01 > 9:44:03Snape,
9:44:03 > 9:44:05Professor McGonagall.
9:44:07 > 9:44:10Hull FC, Leeds Rhinos,
9:44:10 > 9:44:13Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves,
9:44:13 > 9:44:15Sheffield Eagles...
9:44:15 > 9:44:17Erm...
9:44:19 > 9:44:20St Helens.
9:44:22 > 9:44:25I should get this one. I've got two kids.
9:44:25 > 9:44:27Baa Baa Black Sheep...
9:44:27 > 9:44:28Erm...
9:44:30 > 9:44:31Wind The Bobbin Up.
9:44:34 > 9:44:37What else? I can't sing.
9:44:37 > 9:44:38Mary Had A Little Lamb.
9:44:38 > 9:44:40Humpty Dumpty.
9:44:40 > 9:44:42Ring A Ring O' Roses.
9:44:45 > 9:44:47Erm...
9:44:47 > 9:44:49And the Easter one is Chick, Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken.
9:44:52 > 9:44:58Two, three, five, seven, 11.
9:44:58 > 9:45:0013, 17, 19.
9:45:07 > 9:45:11Chinese, Indian, erm...
9:45:11 > 9:45:14I'll go pitta... Kebab.
9:45:16 > 9:45:17Seafood.
9:45:20 > 9:45:21Er, Thai.
9:45:29 > 9:45:32It was wonderful watching you go backwards in your life
9:45:32 > 9:45:33to nursery rhymes.
9:45:33 > 9:45:37Well, let's get the latest on Leeds, because the Rhinos were on the ropes
9:45:37 > 9:45:39after a pummelling by Castleford.
9:45:39 > 9:45:42The unbeaten Catalan Dragons were at Headingley on Friday
9:45:42 > 9:45:44and there was a response though, wasn't there, from Leeds?
9:45:44 > 9:45:48Yeah, this is exactly what you'd expect from the Leeds outfit.
9:45:48 > 9:45:49They're always going to respond
9:45:49 > 9:45:52but I think it was a little bit of desire from Leeds
9:45:52 > 9:45:55and poor play from the Catalan Dragons.
9:45:55 > 9:45:59Like we've said before, they look like a strong team and they look
9:45:59 > 9:46:01like they could cause some damage
9:46:01 > 9:46:03and there was a little bit of slack defence there from Leeds
9:46:03 > 9:46:06but in this game, it's the response just that they wanted.
9:46:06 > 9:46:08A lot of the tries came through the middle of the field as well,
9:46:08 > 9:46:12some great off-loads as they do, off-the-cuff, but this is just soft.
9:46:12 > 9:46:14That is not Catalans. It's not what they do,
9:46:14 > 9:46:15it's not what they pride themselves on,
9:46:15 > 9:46:19and I was a little bit disappointed in them, to be honest.
9:46:19 > 9:46:22Is this the fluency that Leeds have been really lacking
9:46:22 > 9:46:24in recent times, do you feel, coming back?
9:46:24 > 9:46:30Yeah, they got Burrow and a couple of other key players back for them,
9:46:30 > 9:46:32and Cuthbertson played pretty well,
9:46:32 > 9:46:34he is off-loading all over the place.
9:46:34 > 9:46:36He's a real threat when he does that,
9:46:36 > 9:46:39and you spend a lot of attention on looking after him.
9:46:39 > 9:46:42And there's some real soft defence, and I lost a couple of players
9:46:42 > 9:46:45within this game, particularly Greg Bird.
9:46:45 > 9:46:46That is a blow for them, isn't it?
9:46:46 > 9:46:51That's a huge blow, because he has been a real pinnacle player
9:46:51 > 9:46:54for them, he's come in and he's created a real toughness
9:46:54 > 9:46:57about them as a team, so losing him is significant.
9:46:57 > 9:46:59Lovely to see Rob Burrow doing what Rob Burrow does,
9:46:59 > 9:47:02- though, wasn't it?- Yeah, it just reminds me of watching him
9:47:02 > 9:47:04in a Great Britain jersey, to be honest.
9:47:04 > 9:47:06It was that sort of try, it takes you back a little bit.
9:47:06 > 9:47:08But the skill on show here's absolutely fantastic.
9:47:08 > 9:47:10And can you see the confidence coming back to them?
9:47:10 > 9:47:13This is the best type of rugby that Leeds play.
9:47:13 > 9:47:15Off-the-cuff and actually off-loading
9:47:15 > 9:47:16and throwing the ball around.
9:47:16 > 9:47:18When they do that, they're really dangerous.
9:47:18 > 9:47:20It's when they go into the more structured
9:47:20 > 9:47:21sort of play where they struggle a little bit.
9:47:21 > 9:47:24Another great kick there for him to get onto the end of.
9:47:24 > 9:47:26Leeds, they looked on fire and they looked like
9:47:26 > 9:47:28they've got a bit of confidence back.
9:47:28 > 9:47:31Because they are slightly off-the-cuff, when it's going badly,
9:47:31 > 9:47:33does it look that much worse, do you think?
9:47:33 > 9:47:35Yeah, well, different teams are different.
9:47:35 > 9:47:37You look at Warrington, for example.
9:47:37 > 9:47:39They play slightly different, but in a similar way to Leeds,
9:47:39 > 9:47:42it's off-the-cuff, they pass the ball a hell of a lot,
9:47:42 > 9:47:44flat, cross the line, and if it doesn't work,
9:47:44 > 9:47:48what happens next? I suppose that's the difficulty.
9:47:48 > 9:47:49But when it does work,
9:47:49 > 9:47:53it's very difficult to defend against, as we've seen.
9:47:53 > 9:47:54When they won the treble,
9:47:54 > 9:47:56they were so difficult to defend against.
9:47:56 > 9:47:59And they look quite similar, some of the way they were playing there,
9:47:59 > 9:48:02Cuthbertson to the fore.
9:48:02 > 9:48:06So yes, it's tough when you haven't got a significant plan
9:48:06 > 9:48:07and you pass the ball.
9:48:07 > 9:48:10I'm going to have to jump in on you, as we're running out of time.
9:48:10 > 9:48:11So, Leeds get back to winning ways,
9:48:11 > 9:48:14and this is where it's left them in the Betfred Super League.
9:48:16 > 9:48:19The Rhinos are up to fourth, but it's still Castleford and Wigan
9:48:19 > 9:48:22who lead the way with their 100% records.
9:48:22 > 9:48:23Hull are in third.
9:48:23 > 9:48:27Their victory on Friday leaves St Helens in the bottom three.
9:48:27 > 9:48:30You can hear the Wolves game at Leigh on 5 Live Sports Extra
9:48:30 > 9:48:32from 7:30pm on Thursday.
9:48:32 > 9:48:36There's more Challenge Cup action online at one o'clock on Saturday.
9:48:36 > 9:48:38That's Oldham against Haydock.
9:48:38 > 9:48:41And the Super League Show returns at 11:30pm on Monday night
9:48:41 > 9:48:42with a lunchtime repeat
9:48:42 > 9:48:44at one o'clock on Tuesday.
9:48:45 > 9:48:47That is it for this week.
