:00:48. > :01:06.Another magnificent try! What a tackle! Oh, my word, what a try!

:01:07. > :01:12.The drama continues at the start of a landmark week in the Super League

:01:13. > :01:18.season. Coming up, the first words on Easter and the final words on

:01:19. > :01:22.Round 8, all in the company of Paul Aiton and James Jones-Buchanan. We

:01:23. > :01:26.start with the news of the first coaching departure of 2017. Keiron

:01:27. > :01:32.Cunningham is no longer in charge of St Helens. He enjoyed a glittering

:01:33. > :01:39.playing career at St Helens, making nearly 500 appearances for his home

:01:40. > :01:47.town team. He's lost the ball! It looks like Keiron Cunningham! He

:01:48. > :01:51.helped them win five Super League titles, and was chosen by club

:01:52. > :02:00.supporters to be honoured with a bronze statue inside their stadium.

:02:01. > :02:08.He was appointed head coach of the tenants after their Grand Final

:02:09. > :02:14.success in 2014. They put the ball down! Two seasons without a trophy

:02:15. > :02:23.and three wins in the opening eight games of 2017 have led to his

:02:24. > :02:28.departure in the club. How surprised were you when you heard the news

:02:29. > :02:33.this morning? I was shocked. I called Luke Walshe, who was at the

:02:34. > :02:39.back of the bus, actually. Just to get some confirmation, see if he had

:02:40. > :02:46.heard the news. How surprised was he? Extremely shocked and he felt

:02:47. > :02:55.for him. He was as shocked as we all were. Can't really say too much. Do

:02:56. > :02:59.you think perhaps they've been a team struggling for their identity,

:03:00. > :03:04.they are not the St Helens we've known and loved over the last couple

:03:05. > :03:13.of years? The brand they play it with was at the forefront. From the

:03:14. > :03:18.mid-90s to 2009. They were the most consistently dangerous team I've

:03:19. > :03:23.ever played against. They get out at 110 miles an hour, they had this

:03:24. > :03:28.mentality that it didn't matter if they were points down, they could

:03:29. > :03:32.come back and win it. They've never quite recaptured that game

:03:33. > :03:44.philosophy, that ethos. I think that is what the fans and club expected.

:03:45. > :03:50.That group, they never quite got it back. It's Easter, the busiest time

:03:51. > :03:54.and they've got Wigan coming up on Good Friday, how surprised I you add

:03:55. > :03:59.the timing, apart from anything else? Definitely, especially over

:04:00. > :04:02.Easter. I've lost a coach midway through the season and I found that

:04:03. > :04:07.pretty difficult. I think the players will have to stick together,

:04:08. > :04:13.band together for the game against Wigan. You've talked about Keiron as

:04:14. > :04:18.a legendary player. Do you think that's half the problem for Kim,

:04:19. > :04:24.because he had such a status at the club? What is it like to coach Leeds

:04:25. > :04:28.Rhinos, I think? How many people I've got a statue outside the

:04:29. > :04:34.ground? That is usually left four people reserved to history and he's

:04:35. > :04:38.got it there right now. It is a big mark to live up to and it is

:04:39. > :04:43.obviously a shame. I'm talking about it because it is a shame. The

:04:44. > :04:48.reference he's got throughout the game, the admiration from the top to

:04:49. > :04:52.the bottom, the players love him, he was a great player. Unfortunately,

:04:53. > :04:56.hasn't got it as a coach but I hope he doesn't give it up, I hope he

:04:57. > :05:01.continues because we see how many coaches have had to go through that

:05:02. > :05:05.adversity to get anything at the top.

:05:06. > :05:08.The match that was to be St Helens' final game under Keiron Cunningham

:05:09. > :05:11.was at home to Huddersfield on Friday, and Sharon

:05:12. > :05:17.Saint Helen 's chairman said in his programme notes before the match

:05:18. > :05:23.that is room for further slip ups was limited and the next few games

:05:24. > :05:35.would be an indication of how it would go. Percival took the break

:05:36. > :05:40.before Fages went in before the break. Percival added the goal. It

:05:41. > :05:46.was the start of 14 points in a 12 minute period for Saints as Fages

:05:47. > :05:51.got on the scoresheet again. He went in from 30 metres out here. An

:05:52. > :05:56.outrageous step taking him around McIntosh. The conversion was missed

:05:57. > :06:04.but Saints were 2-0 up and only got better for them before the break

:06:05. > :06:08.with the third try. Swift scored his 100th for Saints. The conversion

:06:09. > :06:13.wasn't successful again but they were leading 14-0 by the break.

:06:14. > :06:20.Huddersfield hadn't managed a win in their last several games. McIntosh

:06:21. > :06:25.got the first of three tries in 16 minutes. Brough was back after

:06:26. > :06:32.suspension and it was his kick that led to this. McIntosh won the race

:06:33. > :06:36.for the ball and touched down. Brough converted with three minutes

:06:37. > :06:40.to go. It's led to an air of tension around the ground with Saints fans

:06:41. > :06:44.fearing the worst whilst Huddersfield was sensing their way

:06:45. > :06:51.back in. A great break from McIntosh. Murphy held the ball

:06:52. > :06:55.alive. As the clock continued to tick down, Huddersfield held their

:06:56. > :07:01.heads. Brough was involved with another kick Crossfield. It wasn't

:07:02. > :07:10.taken by Percival under pressure and now Huddersfield were level. This

:07:11. > :07:14.touch-line effort fell short and it ended all square. St Helens players

:07:15. > :07:20.left the field with the fans booing ringing in their ears.

:07:21. > :07:25.In a funny way, was that game in microcosm of Saint Helen season?

:07:26. > :07:31.Good patches but then Keiron calling them weak mentally. It meant a lot

:07:32. > :07:35.to him, the time he was at St Helens, what it means to him with

:07:36. > :07:39.the history and the trophies they've won over the years. He will

:07:40. > :07:44.understand what mental toughness went into that and the emotional

:07:45. > :07:47.energy, the training. I'm not part of their club and I don't know

:07:48. > :07:51.what's going on there now but when you lose leagues and capitulate,

:07:52. > :07:56.it's tough to take as a player, and as a coach you can see his

:07:57. > :08:01.frustration. You have Huddersfield, they didn't win the game but presume

:08:02. > :08:08.Ubley you'll face a team buoyed by coming back. That's right. We've

:08:09. > :08:13.done our homework on the Giants. Ultimately, for us, it's more about

:08:14. > :08:19.us and how we bounce back because we will be under pressure as well.

:08:20. > :08:29.Their fans are passionate. When they've had something like that, do

:08:30. > :08:33.you see that they are a different proposition? Definitely because you

:08:34. > :08:40.get the comrade Ray, and when times get tough, people show up. I find it

:08:41. > :08:43.that you bounce back and get harder, stronger together.

:08:44. > :08:45.So, interesting times ahead at St Helens.

:08:46. > :09:14.Next up for us it's the Super League leaders Castleford, and their match

:09:15. > :09:21.We have been looking forward to this one for such a long time. Two

:09:22. > :09:21.heavyweights of the Super League, Wigan and Castleford coming

:09:22. > :09:34.together. Joel Monaghan takes an unexpected

:09:35. > :09:39.place in the line-up through player injury at warm up. Taken down the

:09:40. > :10:02.middle. Wigan's defenders get on top of him.

:10:03. > :10:07.Roberts! Webster! The delay was enough to put the pass in for

:10:08. > :10:17.Webster to push over. First strike, Cassell foot. So, at the restart,

:10:18. > :10:22.Wigan looked to settle themselves after the concession of that drive.

:10:23. > :10:26.Castleford fuelled with energy. They've had to do a lot of defending

:10:27. > :10:44.in the opening minutes of this game but they've ridden that so far.

:10:45. > :10:58.He takes some stopping. Sene-Lefao with the off-load, and they found a

:10:59. > :11:03.gap! He has support from Gale who will scamper underneath the sticks.

:11:04. > :11:06.That is two Castleford tries in the space of a couple of minutes.

:11:07. > :11:23.They've romped into life again. Wigan's defenders on their line. He

:11:24. > :11:35.has drawn defenders to him who were not square so this will be a penalty

:11:36. > :11:39.for Castleford. One either side. Gale settling himself. He is a

:11:40. > :11:45.points machine this season. Scores tries and kicks penalties as well.

:11:46. > :12:02.Escare. Very vigorous effort, and still going. They hold on and the

:12:03. > :12:12.referee says tackle complete. There is a tangle here. Williams. Over the

:12:13. > :12:20.head of his intended target. The pressure is being applied. Williams

:12:21. > :12:27.again. Across the defence. Escare! The footwork to beat his man on the

:12:28. > :12:30.inside! Wonderful try from the Frenchman and Wigan have their first

:12:31. > :12:41.score of the night, back end of the half.

:12:42. > :12:48.Springer, he's one of those big athletes that Castleford have in

:12:49. > :12:52.their ranks that can make problems for any side. Here's another one of

:12:53. > :12:59.them. He was tackled and makes another 20 yards.

:13:00. > :13:10.Sene-Lefao! Wow, rips a hole in those Wigan defenders! And gets

:13:11. > :13:14.through. The muscularity of it, incredible! Castleford fans are

:13:15. > :13:31.loving this. The Wigan man ran into hit the

:13:32. > :13:34.tackle and the defender's head snapping back. Wigan needing

:13:35. > :13:43.something quickly. They have a chance. Inside ball for Escare who

:13:44. > :13:49.will score his second try of the night. But there are only seven

:13:50. > :13:57.minutes to go. It could be too little too late.

:13:58. > :14:04.They are allowed to carry on. Escare! On a hat-trick but he runs

:14:05. > :14:06.into a pocket of defenders and runs out again and making things happen

:14:07. > :14:19.for Wigan. If they score here now, Wigan, they

:14:20. > :14:27.still have time for another and a miraculous escape. Wigan continued

:14:28. > :14:31.to press. The interception! Eden, he's got to go the distance it,

:14:32. > :14:39.hasn't he? The two wingers chasing back but there's no stopping Eden

:14:40. > :14:45.who will score they tried to confirm a big, big win Castleford tonight.

:14:46. > :14:53.They are clear at the top of Super League, and what a statement they've

:14:54. > :15:02.made tonight. Wigan fans clearly not happy, leaving early. It's going to

:15:03. > :15:05.be another game without a win for Wigan, this blip continuing.

:15:06. > :15:12.Castleford haven't finished yet. They will rub salt into the wound,

:15:13. > :15:21.Gale with a drop kick, 27-10, quite a night for the Tigers. A smiling

:15:22. > :15:26.Daryl Powell five. They felt it was the biggest test they've faced so

:15:27. > :15:32.far, is how big a statement is for them to come through it? Wigan's

:15:33. > :15:39.defence is known as tough and technical. I think it shows a big

:15:40. > :15:47.statement because, for me, they were playing using the footy. What can

:15:48. > :15:51.you say? Castleford, and Saint Helen 's ten years ago, Castleford have

:15:52. > :15:57.captured that, they are reacting to the defence. Wigan have some of the

:15:58. > :16:02.best events. They are the best structured team as well for me. They

:16:03. > :16:09.get to a position on the field and executed with precision. My wife

:16:10. > :16:15.watches Thursday night rugby, it's all ice cream, and we watch it, and

:16:16. > :16:21.it's this battle playing what you see versus the structure and

:16:22. > :16:25.Castleford prevailed. It is the hardest brand of rugby to attain,

:16:26. > :16:28.what they've been doing and it prevailed over the structure and

:16:29. > :16:33.could change the landscape of Rugby League. Was it also Castleford's

:16:34. > :16:37.defence of capabilities, it's what they were particularly pleased with

:16:38. > :16:44.and is that a key aspect if they're going to win stuff? Definitely. As

:16:45. > :16:47.JJB mentioned, when you're playing that sort of footy, everyone needs

:16:48. > :16:54.to be in the right spot, and it is hard to defend as well. They have

:16:55. > :16:58.some big humans playing for Wigan, so for them to defend them and to

:16:59. > :17:04.attack the way they did, it was great. Two players you know from

:17:05. > :17:09.your youth, Moors and Sene-Lefao, if they're coming off the bench, that

:17:10. > :17:13.must be something to see, talk about their aspect. I was lucky enough to

:17:14. > :17:18.play with Junior, we came through the junior ranks together in

:17:19. > :17:23.Penrith. Jesse was younger than me. Still 26, but he was younger than me

:17:24. > :17:28.at the time. It's great to see them playing over here and thereof as the

:17:29. > :17:38.enjoying it. How hard to stop? He bulldozed there. It's fast. They've

:17:39. > :17:42.got great off-load. What is maximising their ability is how

:17:43. > :17:47.efficient Castleford are. Whenever they're getting the ball, they're

:17:48. > :17:51.getting it fresh. They look like superheroes at the minute. Wigan,

:17:52. > :17:54.we're not used to seeing them lose three on the bounce. I have a long

:17:55. > :18:02.injury list but what do you think the feeling will be in that camp?

:18:03. > :18:08.Jeez... It isn't the best feeling I've been there before. I guess

:18:09. > :18:12.you've got to stop focusing on your opposition and focus on yourselves

:18:13. > :18:15.and what you can do better yourself for the next week. If you focus on

:18:16. > :18:21.everything else, you're focusing on the wrong things.

:18:22. > :18:23.So, Castleford head into Easter at the top of the table,

:18:24. > :18:26.and the only team to have beaten them so far are Salford.

:18:27. > :18:29.The Red Devils are in great form, and were looking for a fourth

:18:30. > :18:41.Your commentator for this one is Matt Newsum.

:18:42. > :18:53.Hangs one app to that right-hand side. Get it away to my goals. Hull

:18:54. > :19:08.FC take the lead in just five minutes. Hull chucking it at through

:19:09. > :19:18.the middle. Then got the penalty. To extend the lead, Marc Sneyd from the

:19:19. > :19:21.tee. Does so with ease. Robert Lui steps towards the line and prizes

:19:22. > :19:29.his way through and Salford have a response. Really good effort from

:19:30. > :19:32.Salford to move the ball to this right-hand side. Well furnished by

:19:33. > :19:49.Greg Johnson. He has been a standout player first

:19:50. > :20:02.Salford this season. So many options for Salford. They have turned the

:20:03. > :20:16.game on its head. That went up so devastating. Slipper Lee run. Get

:20:17. > :20:29.the Toetu Johnson. Salford have to shift the ball wide. Junior S'au

:20:30. > :20:40.will race through. Muscles his way in. Salford in total control. Morgan

:20:41. > :20:43.Tompkins. O'Brien picks one out to the right-hand side for Thomson who

:20:44. > :20:57.scores his second and are completely coasting. Even when the pass does

:20:58. > :21:01.not fall directly to a player Salford, the lack is running their

:21:02. > :21:13.way. Great pass to Dobson. Onto Junior S'au. Justin Carney, great

:21:14. > :21:31.finish. Corner picks out Jamie Shaul. He crawls to the line and

:21:32. > :21:41.just about. Well taken in the end. That is a beautiful try by Steve

:21:42. > :21:52.Michaels. Booming pass to that right-hand side. Salford keeping the

:21:53. > :22:04.ball alive. Salford extended the lead again.

:22:05. > :22:20.Can't contain him. Struggling to lay a finger on him. Hull mount enough

:22:21. > :22:32.of a defence to stop him. It is a penalty. Jamie Shaul will go to that

:22:33. > :22:41.bin for ten. It is not Hull's night. There is another big kick for him.

:22:42. > :22:50.Look at the Hull players, they do not know what to do. George Griffin,

:22:51. > :22:59.Salford, he is winning the battle tonight. Is there another try in

:23:00. > :23:11.this Salford side? Johnson has been elusive he is still going. He will

:23:12. > :23:18.go through for the try. That's just about sums up the game.

:23:19. > :23:23.Salford absolutely dominant. If it was a statement from Castleford, how

:23:24. > :23:28.much of a statement from Salford? It was brilliant. Just watching some of

:23:29. > :23:34.the young players drop off a view tackles, like they were lacking

:23:35. > :23:42.confidence, by contrast Salford have got that synergy between the

:23:43. > :23:51.players. Dobson, Robert Lui, Justin Carney, there is competition for

:23:52. > :24:00.players. They are confident. They are secure in their trust for each

:24:01. > :24:08.other. Have you spoken since he went to Salford M yes, he is enjoying his

:24:09. > :24:15.time there. I am happy to see him enjoying his football. Easter Monday

:24:16. > :24:21.at your place, watching that, you will have to rest up. I have been

:24:22. > :24:34.keeping an eye on Salford. They are a team that I enjoy watching play.

:24:35. > :24:39.They always show up for each other. Ian Watson has talked about the team

:24:40. > :24:45.ethic. Can you see that? Definitely. There is a few teams that I like

:24:46. > :24:50.watching, they are definitely one of them. A couple of weeks ago, in

:24:51. > :24:59.defence they were amazing, one-month loan. Half of them injured. Still

:25:00. > :25:12.showing up. You have got Hull on Friday. What do you think he means

:25:13. > :25:18.by going into the insecure box? I think Babel jumped right out of it.

:25:19. > :25:25.The fans will get right behind them. -- think they will jump right out.

:25:26. > :25:28.They will be physical this week. This weekend will be no different.

:25:29. > :25:31.So, Castleford and Salford flying high, but down at the bottom

:25:32. > :25:32.the Warrington Wolves were still looking

:25:33. > :25:45.They met the Leeds Rhinos on Friday, and Dave Woods was watching.

:25:46. > :25:58.Leeds looking to make as much of an advantage as they can. Might have

:25:59. > :26:06.been hotly. The referee said play on but the touchline judge on the

:26:07. > :26:13.nearside. That was a little weight and

:26:14. > :26:21.certainly high. The arm was up. The connection was with the chin. He is

:26:22. > :26:34.in the sin-bin, then westward, first minute of the game, Warrington going

:26:35. > :26:47.to 12 men. Leeds threatening.

:26:48. > :27:01.Briscoe is still going. Has he got it down? Warrington defenders are

:27:02. > :27:07.claiming he hasn't. He thinks, try on the field. We will have a look at

:27:08. > :27:11.this. Is there enough evidence to override the referee? That looks as

:27:12. > :27:16.though it has been grounded, what a start for Leeds, calamitous for

:27:17. > :27:33.Warrington, the try confirmed, and after two minutes Leeds have to

:27:34. > :27:43.lead. Drops by Cuthbertson. Getting a little tasty here as well. Ashton

:27:44. > :28:06.Sims and Adam Cuthbertson. Ashton Sims made contact. It is on report.

:28:07. > :28:19.Warrington pressing and probing here.

:28:20. > :28:31.Knocks it back. Ryan Atkins scores. Warrington back level. 14 minutes

:28:32. > :28:42.played. Did they need that? Here is Clark again. Ratchford is joining in

:28:43. > :28:50.from full-back. Leeds players slowing it down. It measures click

:28:51. > :28:58.on that right foot. Atkins goes up and takes it, and false tone to

:28:59. > :29:06.score. Two kicks, two tries, Ryan Atkins the finisher for the second

:29:07. > :29:14.time. Leeds are defending desperately here as Warrington are

:29:15. > :29:17.oppressing and probing. They would love to get another score on the

:29:18. > :29:28.board early in the second half to settle their nurse further. Here

:29:29. > :29:35.they come. They have the numbers. They will pick out lying on the

:29:36. > :29:55.left-hand side, and what a start to the second half for Warrington.

:29:56. > :30:01.Little dummy Sean. -- shown. The referee is going to ask for a

:30:02. > :30:04.cheque year, but Mark Parcell might have caught that Warrington defence

:30:05. > :30:18.napping. It is all about the grounding. He has got the grounding.

:30:19. > :30:26.Leeds have found a way back in. Maguire, back it goes. Here is the

:30:27. > :30:40.flick. Now it is McGuire, left-hand side. Gets ready to deliver the

:30:41. > :30:47.pass. This way and that. Leeds really are in its no. Moving back to

:30:48. > :30:57.within touching distance, 20 minutes still to play.

:30:58. > :31:11.Westerman, across the line, DAX and pushers. Clark again. That might

:31:12. > :31:15.just sealed it here tonight. It might be enough to give Warrington

:31:16. > :31:27.their first win of the season. Stand and deliver. A matter of seconds to

:31:28. > :31:32.play. Warrington on the verge of that important first win of the

:31:33. > :31:44.season. A draw last week, it went tonight, and Declan pattern made

:31:45. > :31:48.absolutely sure. They finally have a victory to celebrate. Warrington's

:31:49. > :31:53.season is up and running. Any complaints about that? No,

:31:54. > :32:02.Warrington were the better side on the night. The got themselves nine

:32:03. > :32:14.repeat, ten more tackles, in management, that was phenomenal.

:32:15. > :32:17.Credits to Warrington. We will ask about the Ben Westwood 's challenge,

:32:18. > :32:23.was he lucky to only get sin-bin, could it have been red card? Yes, it

:32:24. > :32:29.could have been a red card, when a player cannot protect himself, and

:32:30. > :32:34.you are coming in at the head, I know his hand was not clenched, but

:32:35. > :32:41.all he had to do was wrapped to arms around and it would have been fine.

:32:42. > :32:47.I thought it deserved a red card. Discipline that it could be an

:32:48. > :32:57.interesting one for him this week. Patton dropped out of the team for a

:32:58. > :33:02.few weeks. He worked pretty well. He kicked that drop goal right at the

:33:03. > :33:09.end. Every one of his kicks was on the money. When you are kicking four

:33:10. > :33:16.tries, he got two of them, looking for drop outs and repeat sets. It

:33:17. > :33:20.makes the game almost impossible. The one that energy battle. We need

:33:21. > :33:26.to improve this week, our line speed needs to be better, to give

:33:27. > :33:33.ourselves a chance. But credit to him, he has worked really well. How

:33:34. > :33:40.much of a relief will baby for Warrington to finally get a win?

:33:41. > :33:47.Yes, definitely. They cannot believe where they are. They will be very

:33:48. > :34:00.relieved. They have that winning feeling back in the team. It has

:34:01. > :34:05.helped them. He's the most competitive human being I've ever

:34:06. > :34:08.come across. When you're playing darts, snooker, Monopoly, he's

:34:09. > :34:15.really competitive and wants to win. He's racked up some tries, he's a

:34:16. > :34:21.local lad, he has been great to play with. You've played with him and he

:34:22. > :34:29.seems a gentleman as well. He's a lovely man. I think the first six

:34:30. > :34:34.months where I didn't have a car, he picked me up every day and we got to

:34:35. > :34:39.know each other pretty well. We still swap texts every now and then

:34:40. > :34:42.and all the best for him. So, the busiest period of the season is

:34:43. > :34:47.under way and here's how you can follow it on the BBC. Huddersfield

:34:48. > :34:55.played Catalan on Wednesday and you can hear that on Five Live sports

:34:56. > :34:59.extra from 7:30pm. There's a special edition of the Super League Show

:35:00. > :35:03.1:30pm on Sunday with highlights of the first round of the Easter

:35:04. > :35:04.matches. We're back the following day with highlights from bank

:35:05. > :35:07.holiday Monday. Now a quick detour from the action,

:35:08. > :35:11.and a big test for the Widnes forward Hep Cahill,

:35:12. > :35:34.who takes his turn at set of six. Peanut butter, jam, honey, beans,

:35:35. > :35:51.chocolate spread, steak and eggs. Pinetree, further tree. Manuka tree.

:35:52. > :35:53.What other trees? That's it. Oh, no. I should know this, I've got two

:35:54. > :36:12.daughters. Spice Girls. That is it! Castleford Tigers. Warrington

:36:13. > :36:29.Wolves. Leeds Rhinos. Catalan Dragons. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats?

:36:30. > :36:35.And... That's all I've got. Aeroplane, cloud, bird. The sun. The

:36:36. > :36:52.moon. Stars. Six famous New Zealanders? Valerie

:36:53. > :37:07.Adams, shot put. Jake Lomas, he's an actor. Sorry, it's gone.

:37:08. > :37:14.The first time you've seen set of six, will you be ducking it when we

:37:15. > :37:18.come round your place? Definitely come easy questions but it is hard

:37:19. > :37:21.to be put on the spot. You'll be here until you've cleared the patch!

:37:22. > :37:24.On a more serious note the Super League owners met last

:37:25. > :37:27.week and agreed to lift the salary cap above ?2 million and have

:37:28. > :37:28.introduced an additional marquee player rule.

:37:29. > :37:31.Talent retention seems to be the driving force behind it all.

:37:32. > :37:32.Jamie, what do the players make of it all?

:37:33. > :37:41.I think it is great news for the players. Rising wages and it has

:37:42. > :37:46.been a long time coming. It's been the same for 20 years, it has ever

:37:47. > :37:53.gone up with inflation. It is great the game is progressing. The whole

:37:54. > :38:00.place pit-mac point of it was to keep teams level. It's great that it

:38:01. > :38:04.might bring more investors in to put cash in. We will bring top talent in

:38:05. > :38:08.but you've got to ask whether it is good news for some of the smaller

:38:09. > :38:12.teams because we don't want to see them suffer. Is it enough of a rise

:38:13. > :38:17.to hang on to the stars of Super League and keep them awake from the

:38:18. > :38:24.Rugby Union and the NRL? Not really but we do have a pretty good brand

:38:25. > :38:30.over here. I think the way it's going at the moment, it's a

:38:31. > :38:37.juggernaut, NRL, their TV deals but it is a step in the right direction.

:38:38. > :38:41.But I'd be worried about the lower clubs, for myself. And the marquee

:38:42. > :38:45.player rule, we need to see big stars, we need to see them brought

:38:46. > :38:50.into the game and keep the ones we've got. I think so, we need to

:38:51. > :38:54.retain the players from NRL but we've got to live within our means

:38:55. > :38:57.as well because in the past clubs have been able to pay what they

:38:58. > :39:02.want, subsequently they've gone downhill because of it which isn't

:39:03. > :39:06.great for the game or the fans. You've got to be smart and it is a

:39:07. > :39:08.welcome step in the right direction but let's build things and take time

:39:09. > :39:11.and have patience with it. Wakefield and Widnes met on Friday,

:39:12. > :39:14.both teams made the top eight last season, and Wakefield's form

:39:15. > :39:16.suggests they might get there again, they started well

:39:17. > :39:27.against Widnes Jamie. Certainly did. They've got some

:39:28. > :39:35.great blunders. They are playing with confidence. They've got one of

:39:36. > :39:41.the best motivators in the game. And it is showing for them in the pitch.

:39:42. > :39:49.Widnes Vikings RNA rut but I'm sure they'll come out of it soon. What

:39:50. > :39:55.have you been impressed with? I've been impressed that they play with

:39:56. > :40:01.any chance they get, they are opportunistic. Dropped balls, hard

:40:02. > :40:06.balls. Any chance, they'll play football. They will chase it around

:40:07. > :40:09.and that is what I like about them. Did you see reflections of the time

:40:10. > :40:13.when you were there when people had written them off and they really

:40:14. > :40:18.came together? Definitely. There's something about that club. Anyone

:40:19. > :40:29.who has ever played or ever played for them as a youth, they've enjoyed

:40:30. > :40:33.every minute there. When I was there, we didn't have the biggest

:40:34. > :40:37.gym, the nice money for the field but everyone enjoys their time there

:40:38. > :40:40.so it must be some sort of culture there and it is present there

:40:41. > :40:44.because I've spoken with a few of the players, I'm mates with them and

:40:45. > :40:49.they're enjoying their time there. For Widnes, one of the worst

:40:50. > :40:53.performances he has seen. Would you have expected them to be better

:40:54. > :41:01.after the gutsy win last week? You'd think so. The physicality of it

:41:02. > :41:06.isn't going to make it easier but we can't worry too much about the

:41:07. > :41:11.position, just get things right within your group and develop the

:41:12. > :41:16.trust and body. It will come for them but it needs to come sooner

:41:17. > :41:20.rather than later. For Wakefield, five out of six wins, they have

:41:21. > :41:26.costal foot but they'll go on with so much confidence now, won't they?

:41:27. > :41:31.Definitely. It's local rivalry, a massive game. Very opportunistic,

:41:32. > :41:33.they are, and Castleford like to throw the ball so anything could

:41:34. > :41:36.happen. Good one to look forward to. Now, back in 2005,

:41:37. > :41:38.the Leigh Centurions were playing their only previous

:41:39. > :41:40.season in Super League, whilst the Catalan Dragons were just

:41:41. > :41:43.a twinkle in the eye So, it was their first ever

:41:44. > :42:06.Super League meeting on Friday. Good pressure here. It's going to be

:42:07. > :42:14.a penalty. First blood, then. Reynolds through the uprights.

:42:15. > :42:27.What can the Centurions do here? That is a slack pass! Not sure Brown

:42:28. > :42:29.is going to catch Thornley. The Catalans first try of the evening,

:42:30. > :42:36.Thornley with it. A chance maybe here... Wiliame! He's

:42:37. > :42:48.scored, in for a second. A chance maybe for Inu, nice

:42:49. > :43:04.footwork from the big number three. Myler making space and breaking

:43:05. > :43:05.through. Anderson will score, one-way traffic for the Dragons at

:43:06. > :43:12.the moment. Fast hands and opportunity, Myler

:43:13. > :43:30.will be in! Wiliame sets him away. Reynolds gets clobbered. The ball is

:43:31. > :43:38.popped out and it's gone out to Naughton! Hull FC Loney in the

:43:39. > :43:41.corner, a lifeline! A chance maybe here, a chance to strike early!

:43:42. > :43:56.Weston is over! That was cheeky! Gigot will be in.

:43:57. > :44:01.The Catalans reaffirmed their advantage.

:44:02. > :44:10.Naughton, ushered backwards by Anderson and others. Has he strayed

:44:11. > :44:15.off the mark playing the ball? I think he has. Walsh. No mistake.

:44:16. > :44:30.Good kick from Walsh. Centurions pressure, fast hands,

:44:31. > :44:41.good breakthrough. Good support play, this. McNally will be in.

:44:42. > :44:53.He pops it over, dots the eyes and crosses the Tees with that. Century

:44:54. > :44:59.and is looking for a consolations. Hopkins turned on, Catalans turned

:45:00. > :45:05.off. Leighton Centurions have the last laugh. How good feeling to get

:45:06. > :45:11.back to winning ways for you guys? Definitely, we were feeling the

:45:12. > :45:16.pressure there. The French, in the South of France, they love their

:45:17. > :45:22.footy and their club. We were not producing all the time, so it was

:45:23. > :45:25.good. You started the season so well and it looked a different Catalan

:45:26. > :45:30.Dragons at the start of the season and then it dropped. Do you guys

:45:31. > :45:38.know what was going on? No, not really! Obviously, you question

:45:39. > :45:42.yourself, you question as a team whether you're doing the right

:45:43. > :45:47.thing. In the end, it comes down to the players. And I think we needed

:45:48. > :45:54.to work on those little things that we needed to. We've got to work on

:45:55. > :46:03.ourselves and not worry about the opposition. So much made of Burton,

:46:04. > :46:09.did you feel their loss a bit too much? Have you got used to him not

:46:10. > :46:14.being fair? He's definitely a big loss for us because he's a big part

:46:15. > :46:19.of the team, he's a leader in our team and we definitely missed.

:46:20. > :46:24.Saying that, we had other players come in and we won during the

:46:25. > :46:28.weekend without him, so I think we can continue that and he can come in

:46:29. > :46:35.and be the icing on the cake. How do you see the relationship with Walsh

:46:36. > :46:41.and Myler developing? Very well. Walsh has been great for us. He's a

:46:42. > :46:45.cool cucumber. He's got a wealth of experience and a very skilful player

:46:46. > :46:50.and a great addition to the team. Three defeats in a row for century

:46:51. > :46:55.and is, do you see some 30? You're back in Super League, they started

:46:56. > :47:01.so well. They pride themselves on winning and it is a big win for

:47:02. > :47:05.Catalans. My mum 's got a house in the South of France, so they are

:47:06. > :47:10.like my second team and it's a national institution, the Rugby

:47:11. > :47:14.League down there so when you go to Catalan, you've got to be prepared

:47:15. > :47:19.for it to be tough. Historically, they've got wins away. To pull off

:47:20. > :47:23.this victory is a good result. You guys are staying over which is why

:47:24. > :47:29.you've managed to be in the studio today. How nice is it to stay put

:47:30. > :47:34.for a while? It's great, last season we came back and forth. It takes it

:47:35. > :47:38.out of you, the flight, even though we land, we get a jet, and we go on

:47:39. > :47:43.and off. They can Raja rears good, and off. They can Raja rears good,

:47:44. > :47:48.the bonding you get. It's a cliche but it is. You do get the bonding

:47:49. > :47:49.and its been great. We're lucky to have you.

:47:50. > :47:52.So, as we head towards the Easter weekend, let's get a check

:47:53. > :48:05.Warrington's first win of the season move them off the bottom where they

:48:06. > :48:08.are replaced by Widnes. That's it for now, don't forget

:48:09. > :48:11.to join us on Easter Sunday at 1:30pm in the afternoon

:48:12. > :48:13.for highlights from the first round of Easter matches,

:48:14. > :48:15.we'll see you then. HORN BEEPS

:48:16. > :48:37.THAT car. John! John, you've got blood

:48:38. > :48:40.all over your pants! Come here. Urgh, I've all spit on them now,

:48:41. > :48:43.haven't I? Leave it,

:48:44. > :48:48.I'll get it off in the bogs! This programme is what the

:48:49. > :48:57.BBC calls a special. That means I've splashed out on

:48:58. > :48:59.a new bra. Celebrate one of Britain's

:49:00. > :49:02.greatest comedy heroes. Hello. If it's your first

:49:03. > :49:28.holiday of the year, I suppose the weather for the rest of the weekend

:49:29. > :49:32.into Easter is very important.
