:00:32. > :00:36.Welcome to the final day of competition at the European

:00:37. > :00:40.Championships. Some of the worlds best swimmers are doing battle in

:00:41. > :00:43.that Aquatic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Britain's

:00:44. > :00:50.swimmers have six opportunities to get themselves onto the podium. Fran

:00:51. > :00:55.Halsall and Ben proud sprinting physics as, it's the British

:00:56. > :01:02.champions up against a Olympic champions. Jazz Carlin already has a

:01:03. > :01:06.silver in her pocket from the 800, she goes in the 400. Great Britain

:01:07. > :01:14.'s men and women are in the medley relays. On the final they of

:01:15. > :01:23.competition that is how the medal table currently stands. We have more

:01:24. > :01:27.medals than anyone else but Italy have more silver, and Hungary have

:01:28. > :01:32.more gold. Things could change today. Keep an eye on the Italians

:01:33. > :01:37.on the Hungary on. First up this evening Fran Halsall goes in the 50m

:01:38. > :01:43.freestyle final. She is defending her European title. Last night she

:01:44. > :01:49.was defending in the 50m back. COMMENTATOR: Interesting in the

:01:50. > :01:55.first step. A very good start indeed from Great Britain's Fran Halsall in

:01:56. > :02:00.the five. But for the wonderful starting five. She's got a clear

:02:01. > :02:11.head lead at the moment. She's going very well at the moment, Fran

:02:12. > :02:19.Halsall. Nielsen is in four. Halsall is the European champion in the 50m

:02:20. > :02:23.backstroke. Fran Halsall is halfway to defending her European sprint

:02:24. > :02:30.double, she qualified fastest 50m freestyle final, let's see how she

:02:31. > :02:38.goes. COMMENTATOR: The finalists for the women's 50 to free, Fran Halsall

:02:39. > :02:40.be fastest qualifier. Kromowidjojo Olympic champion so far only second.

:02:41. > :02:56.What a final this is going to be. The finalists are being introduced

:02:57. > :03:02.from slowest into the centre. This is lane seven, Khitraya of Belarus.

:03:03. > :03:11.This is the queen of sprint freestyle over the last ten years,

:03:12. > :03:20.she's gold medals, she is brilliant. An amazing career that Therese has

:03:21. > :03:24.had. Jeanette Ottesen coming out of a high res, such a powerhouse, a

:03:25. > :03:27.really strong swimmer. She is suffering from a cold, she was

:03:28. > :03:35.saying on Facebook today but it's not holding her back this week.

:03:36. > :03:42.saying on Facebook today but it's Santamans of France goes in lane

:03:43. > :03:49.three. She is between Halsall and Alshammar. Now, she won two gold

:03:50. > :03:56.medals in this pool four years ago and she's up against Fran Halsall of

:03:57. > :04:00.Great Britain, the defending champion, the British champion, the

:04:01. > :04:07.Commonwealth champion. What a final this is going to be. She is swimming

:04:08. > :04:10.out of her skin at these championships, surprising even

:04:11. > :04:16.herself with how fast she is going. She is and she felt good in that

:04:17. > :04:19.semifinal, she knew it was fast. Maybe we could see something even

:04:20. > :04:25.quicker tonight, that would be great. Fran is taking her time.

:04:26. > :04:26.Everyone is standing in the swimming costume, she is still taking her

:04:27. > :04:34.time. Last out, controlling the time costume, she is still taking her

:04:35. > :04:40.that the starter will set go. Amazing experience, your heart is

:04:41. > :04:48.fluttering when you are doing that. She has won the gold in the 50 back,

:04:49. > :04:53.gold in mixed medley relay, this one left. Some of the fastest aquatic

:04:54. > :05:05.women in the world, the final of the women's 50 to free. Halsall in four.

:05:06. > :05:09.Fran had a fantastic start in the backstroke and that was really where

:05:10. > :05:14.it was one. Kromowidjojo in five has a really good start, possibly the

:05:15. > :05:17.best in the world. Fran is really going for it but Kromowidjojo have

:05:18. > :05:24.had a quick start, away from Holland in the centre there. Fran Halsall

:05:25. > :05:29.still in the mix. It looks like European champion women's 50 to

:05:30. > :05:33.free, Kromowidjojo of Holland. The silver went to Fran Halsall and the

:05:34. > :05:42.bronze to Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark. I suppose that was probably

:05:43. > :05:56.to be expected. What a quick swim. 24.0.7 was the winning time. She

:05:57. > :06:00.looks delighted with that. Ranomi superb, she had an excellent start.

:06:01. > :06:07.She just couldn't catch her. Only half an arm straight in it but

:06:08. > :06:22.Ranomi Kromowidjojo wins gold in the women's 50 to the of. -- freestyle.

:06:23. > :06:29.I feel a bit deflated because we got so excited, we went on about doing

:06:30. > :06:32.the sprint double, defending her title again, it's still impressive

:06:33. > :06:38.and they heck of a week per Fran, what will she make of that? I think

:06:39. > :06:43.she will be pleased. She went a bit faster last night. Sorry, my voice

:06:44. > :06:48.is awful. She did lose a bit on the start but you saw on the backstroke,

:06:49. > :06:52.she's got such a strong start. She just had too much to crawl back, I

:06:53. > :06:58.think. Let's see how she feels about it. How do you feel about that one?

:06:59. > :07:06.To me the start wasn't as good as last night. I don't know. Have to

:07:07. > :07:12.look back at it. I'm under 24.5 so I can't complain really. It's been a

:07:13. > :07:16.super weekly. It has, doubled up on Tuesday, double. Last night, doubled

:07:17. > :07:21.up tonight. It's a big week of training, really. I really enjoyed

:07:22. > :07:27.it, it's been a great week. I've got be relayed to come now. Onwards and

:07:28. > :07:33.upwards to the next one. As a sprinter you have to race into Rio.

:07:34. > :07:37.Exactly. Every race is an opportunity. Practice your race

:07:38. > :07:42.processes. That's what I'm doing. It's been my best series of swings

:07:43. > :07:49.so far this year that I've ever done so I can't complain. Well done,

:07:50. > :07:53.Fran. No complaints Halsall but this is her Olympic event, what should

:07:54. > :07:57.she do now from here? First of all take a lot of confidence. She's got

:07:58. > :08:03.good times, the thought of times that will put her in the final for

:08:04. > :08:06.the Olympics. 24.0 would get her a medal. When she's relaxing and she's

:08:07. > :08:10.having fun she gets the best out of herself. I would say race as much as

:08:11. > :08:27.possible on the European circuit before Rio. Time for Ben proud who

:08:28. > :08:32.goes in the 50m freestyle. Defending champion, Olympic champion, world

:08:33. > :08:44.champion Florent Manaudou of France in four. What a job Ben Proud has

:08:45. > :08:51.got here. Here is Ben Proud of Great Britain, what a great job John is

:08:52. > :08:59.doing with him. Can he take on the world's fastest? He's had a superb

:09:00. > :09:03.set of heat and semifinal but that's the man he's going to have to beat

:09:04. > :09:13.and look at the side of him. Tall and wide. He is a huge, strong and

:09:14. > :09:16.fast swimmer. These are the big boys, some call them the show

:09:17. > :09:23.ponies. Some call them be thoroughbreds. They are cocky and

:09:24. > :09:32.brush, they have to be. I say they are the fastest humans in water.

:09:33. > :09:39.There's Ben, who goes in five, right next to Florent Manaudou, the

:09:40. > :09:44.fastest man in the world. This is great experience the bend. Four

:09:45. > :09:50.years younger than Manaudou. Every time he gets to stand in the centre

:09:51. > :09:59.of the Paul, a great experience. The final of the men's 50 to free.

:10:00. > :10:11.Manaudou generally a good starter. Ben Proud has had a great start in

:10:12. > :10:13.the centre in the final. Goodness heavens, the power of Florent

:10:14. > :10:25.Manaudou, coming he's not winning by that much at the moment. Proud is

:10:26. > :10:36.still there. Manaudou has got it by...

:10:37. > :10:43.It's difficult to tell when they are finishing that close but Florent

:10:44. > :10:49.Manaudou, he is so tall with a huge reach. He's going to have edge in

:10:50. > :11:01.the closing stages. You can see that power generated underwater. Got to

:11:02. > :11:03.trust the timing. Manaudou's arms are definitely longer. He wins the

:11:04. > :11:20.gold. Govorov the silver. That's the first

:11:21. > :11:27.medal in that event for a British bike in 1996, which was yours. Good

:11:28. > :11:31.stat. Ben Proud has had a brilliant year, set a lifetime best, what will

:11:32. > :11:40.he make of this week? He will take a lot of confidence. This year he's

:11:41. > :11:44.had quite a few 21s swims. Manaudou was the favourite and he wasn't 1

:11:45. > :11:47.had quite a few 21s swims. Manaudou you put him under pressure, it can

:11:48. > :11:53.be you put him under pressure, it can

:11:54. > :11:59.stay with them. He just needs to turn up a bit quicker. Let's hear

:12:00. > :12:04.from Ben. Congratulations, another medal. How would you summarise this

:12:05. > :12:11.week swimming? It's been great. Such a big competition. It's easy to get

:12:12. > :12:21.into the habit of getting PBs. I'm really delighted with the way things

:12:22. > :12:26.have gone. Two 21 seconds. Manaudou, who everyone was beginning to pin-up

:12:27. > :12:31.medal on, only one tenth away. That's freestyle, it's such a

:12:32. > :12:37.blanket finish. Manaudou didn't go as fast. I maintained the same but

:12:38. > :12:41.it's completely different to the way things were yesterday. I'm really

:12:42. > :12:47.happy with the way it went. Well done, a good weeks work. I think he

:12:48. > :12:52.will take confidence from this, he looked happier than we seen him at

:12:53. > :12:55.other times and justifiably so. With Ben and this event, you can't

:12:56. > :12:59.underestimate that age is on his side at the minute. Yes, and you

:13:00. > :13:03.naturally get stronger. Especially in the sprint freestyle its men

:13:04. > :13:05.against boys. He's still growing. When I was down there in Plymouth a

:13:06. > :13:09.few days ago I said how tall are When I was down there in Plymouth a

:13:10. > :13:13.and he said about 61, I was thinking, you are taller than that.

:13:14. > :13:20.He measured himself and he was was six foot three. When Manaudou went

:13:21. > :13:26.into the wall, he is three inches taller and has huge long arms. Ben

:13:27. > :13:33.is growing in confidence all the time. His back is big, he's looking

:13:34. > :13:39.strong. He's not little. LAUGHTER Joking aside, on that event, every

:13:40. > :13:43.little bit to make the difference. And anything that can help that will

:13:44. > :13:47.help in the pool. Let's turn our attention to the women's 50 to

:13:48. > :14:02.breast stroke. It is particularly loud in here so bear with us.

:14:03. > :14:12.COMMENTATOR: The world champion is the fastest qualifier, Jennie

:14:13. > :14:16.Johansson of Sweden. Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir has won silver and

:14:17. > :14:22.bronze, can she get a gold? It is not out of the question. Here is

:14:23. > :14:28.Johansson. We've had the world champion on the 50m, Jennie

:14:29. > :14:47.Johansson. A bit of a Scandinavian final, this.

:14:48. > :14:54.Two fins, two suites, and Icelander. The final of the women's 50 to

:14:55. > :14:57.breast stroke. The fastest qualifier, Jennie Johansson of

:14:58. > :15:01.Sweden in four. She's the world champion but has never won this

:15:02. > :15:07.European Championship title. She has started OK but not great, Sophie

:15:08. > :15:12.Hansson of Sweden in lane two going well. Also going well in six, seven

:15:13. > :15:21.and eight. This is going to be really exciting this last 15 metres.

:15:22. > :15:26.Jennie Johansson has no European Championship title yet, maybe she's

:15:27. > :15:27.got it, yes she does. Jennie Johansson wins the women's 50 to

:15:28. > :15:38.breast eggs. All three girls seemed delighted

:15:39. > :15:45.with that race. I have to say, losers. Dear was finishing well. --

:15:46. > :15:59.Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir was finishing well. Johansson just timed

:16:00. > :16:07.in that bit better for gold. Jennie Johansson wasn't the fastest way.

:16:08. > :16:13.Just able to get to that wall a tiny bit quicker. Well, she's world

:16:14. > :16:20.champion and now she's European champion, Jennie Johansson of Sweden

:16:21. > :16:24.wins the Women's 50m Breaststroke. It's not an Olympic event, so it's a

:16:25. > :16:32.great opportunity to race and practice the race essentials. Jennie

:16:33. > :16:38.Johansson the champion, Luthersdottir the silver and

:16:39. > :16:41.Laukkanen the bronze. STUDIO

:16:42. > :16:48.So, that is not an Olympic event, but why haven't some of our young

:16:49. > :16:50.breaststroke girls used that as an opportunity to practice? Yes, we're

:16:51. > :16:55.obviously very strong at Brest rogue, male and

:16:56. > :17:10.-- strong at breaststroke, male and female. For them, the relay is

:17:11. > :17:19.coming up, so why focus on doing a 50 win the focus is on the relay?

:17:20. > :17:26.The other thing, the 200 breaststroke is a come down to the

:17:27. > :17:28.100. To show the difference between these girls and the

:17:29. > :17:41.-- the rest of the world, they were doing 30.2, but the best in the

:17:42. > :17:45.world ended 29.4. This happened last night and we haven't shared it with

:17:46. > :17:46.you yet. Let's join the race at halfway when Britain are in the

:17:47. > :18:01.lead. Britain the world champions in this

:18:02. > :18:09.event. So, coming up to the halfway stage in this final event, the

:18:10. > :18:17.relay. Very tight indeed for Holland. It is Great Britain one,

:18:18. > :18:28.Holland two, Belgium three and Great Britain now. 1.45.16 from James Guy,

:18:29. > :18:32.superb from him. The Italians really paid, the sprinter was really paying

:18:33. > :18:37.the price in the closing stages of that leg. Excellent from Great

:18:38. > :18:40.Britain now. They need to get back on level terms because Belgium and

:18:41. > :18:50.Italy are obviously still in the race. Luca Dotto going for Italy.

:18:51. > :19:03.Made higher in the closing stages. Holland in two... They have got a

:19:04. > :19:09.very quick sprinter on their final leg. Great Britain have dropped back

:19:10. > :19:15.into second position. Stephen Mills has got some work to do. He's going

:19:16. > :19:20.to have to give Duncan Scott something to do. He's going to give

:19:21. > :19:25.him quite a lot to do, this is a fascinating freestyle. Belgium going

:19:26. > :19:29.excellently as well. A couple of their swimmers pulled out of

:19:30. > :19:34.individual races today to concentrate on this relay, so it

:19:35. > :19:38.matters to them. Italy still fighting, Luca Dotto still hanging

:19:39. > :19:47.on, I expected him to be tightening up towards the end of this race, but

:19:48. > :19:52.if the Dutch team as dub but they are going to be in credibly tough to

:19:53. > :19:56.beat in the closing stages against Britain's Duncan Scott. This is

:19:57. > :20:06.going to be so close. The final leg of the men's 4x200m relay freestyle.

:20:07. > :20:14.Great Britain in sixth position but very close indeed. Now it is Duncan

:20:15. > :20:20.Scott, but he's got an awful lot of work to do. I think now may be the

:20:21. > :20:27.favourite is the Dutch swimmer in lane two. France second and Belgium

:20:28. > :20:31.third, Great Britain still in it and that is Duncan Scott but goodness me

:20:32. > :20:40.he has got an awful lot of work to do. He's got to swim his own race,

:20:41. > :20:47.don't go chasing them down too soon, keep strong for the closing stages.

:20:48. > :20:53.The backstroke at turn freestyler going well for France in this

:20:54. > :21:00.freestyle. Now, can Duncan Scott chase down the Belgian swimmer who

:21:01. > :21:02.is one lane up from him? He's right on his feet,

:21:03. > :21:04.is one lane up from him? He's right caught too much in that way but

:21:05. > :21:17.perhaps he can use it to his advantage. This is going to be so

:21:18. > :21:22.close down this last 50. Lane two, pegged back. The Dutch are going

:21:23. > :21:29.very well. Polling doing very well as well and up in Lane six it is

:21:30. > :21:38.Belgium. This is going to be a fantastic last 25 metres. It is

:21:39. > :21:44.Peter Timmers for fantastic last 25 metres. It is

:21:45. > :21:51.but Netherlands win it by a whisker! What a wonderful 4x200m freestyle

:21:52. > :21:55.relay that was. Gold for the Netherlands, the Silver has gone

:21:56. > :22:00.to... Who is that Indian? Belgium, and the bronze to Italy. Heavens

:22:01. > :22:08.above, that was quite extraordinary. So, team Netherlands win the men's

:22:09. > :22:10.4x200m relay. Belgium with the silver, Italy the bronze and Great

:22:11. > :25:04.Britain finishing down in sixth So, the next race up is the Women's

:25:05. > :25:17.200m Butterfly. Polieri of Italy is the fastest woman qualifier.

:25:18. > :25:23.The German, if she goes anywhere near her best, it's going to be

:25:24. > :25:35.tough to get close. The two youngest swimmers are in the centre lanes.

:25:36. > :25:45.Polieri 21 and Liliana Szilagyi, 19. One of the older ones, Franziska

:25:46. > :25:53.Hentke, what that she have to do to make sure she is absolutely ready?

:25:54. > :25:58.You have to really focus on your own event. It can be as hard when your

:25:59. > :26:05.team-mates are swimming well as when they are not. Seven days later you

:26:06. > :26:08.can be sourced from everyone else's swims and

:26:09. > :26:12.can be sourced from everyone else's race yet. It's really important to

:26:13. > :26:17.only come down to watch the events and support, pick and choose when

:26:18. > :26:19.you do that and make sure you get the right preparation, concentrate

:26:20. > :26:36.and think about what you've got to do. Susanna Jacobus -- Susanna

:26:37. > :26:45.Jakabos -- Zsuzsanna Jakabos from Hungary. The form is pretty

:26:46. > :26:47.difficult to read here. Franziska Hentke from Germany, fought that the

:26:48. > :26:53.World Championships and second fastest in the world this year, but

:26:54. > :26:55.it's a tough one to read, this one. The world junior champion three

:26:56. > :27:02.years ago, Szilagyi of Hungary The world junior champion three

:27:03. > :27:06.five. And then the fastest qualifier, she was only eight that

:27:07. > :27:12.the European Championships two years ago, Alessia Polieri, ran a fabulous

:27:13. > :27:18.semifinal time. If she does that again I think she will get a medal.

:27:19. > :27:22.Whether she will win it... I think she should hopefully have to go a

:27:23. > :27:25.little bit faster than that. She was the one swim in the semifinal who

:27:26. > :27:29.looked a bit more committed to getting a fast time. She was

:27:30. > :27:37.certainly ecstatic with the time she posted. I think Hentke and Zsuzsanna

:27:38. > :27:45.Jakabos as well will be hard to beat. Mireia Belmonte is not here in

:27:46. > :27:56.this particular event, she is swimming in the freestyle relay

:27:57. > :28:00.later on, I think. The winner of the Bronze two years ago is not here

:28:01. > :28:05.either. What a great opportunity for these women. The final of the

:28:06. > :28:16.Women's 200m Butterfly at the European Championships.

:28:17. > :28:22.So, four lengths butterfly, the final of the European Championships

:28:23. > :28:28.of the Women's 200m Butterfly. That very unique stroke, I was going to

:28:29. > :28:31.say, but there's two of them. Lane three from the bottom and forth from

:28:32. > :28:35.the bottom, they're actually looking directly at each other! You don't

:28:36. > :28:38.often see that in butterfly! I wonder if it's a bit weird for them

:28:39. > :28:44.especially when they are right head-to-head in the later stages of

:28:45. > :28:50.the race. Normally in butterfly you look straightforward and try and

:28:51. > :28:54.keep your body as flat as you possibly can. There's three of them

:28:55. > :29:00.doing it in a row! Lanes two, three and four. If you breathe to the

:29:01. > :29:05.right, it drops the opposite shoulder, the left shoulder. You can

:29:06. > :29:08.get really unbalanced. It's an interesting one, the positive is you

:29:09. > :29:13.stay flat and the negative is you are a bit unbalanced. It's unusual

:29:14. > :29:16.to see so many of the swimmers choosing to breathe the side.

:29:17. > :29:21.Normally you get one or two but half the race is doing it in this one.

:29:22. > :29:31.Polieri qualified in lane four. Interesting whether that will take

:29:32. > :29:37.its toll. She's yet to really show, the favourite. She will need to make

:29:38. > :29:42.a move, Polieri. Szilagyi and the others are good medley swimmers as

:29:43. > :29:46.well, they have great strength in the closing stages of the event,

:29:47. > :29:51.they have the endurance from training for the 400 medley as well.

:29:52. > :29:56.This is fascinating because if it stays like this, any one of five or

:29:57. > :30:01.six of these women could win this race. Going well out in Lane five is

:30:02. > :30:07.Szilagyi of Hungary. Starting to charge is Polieri. She has about a

:30:08. > :30:10.metre and they have still to catch up. Still going well is Szilagyi of

:30:11. > :30:14.Hungary. At the up. Still going well is Szilagyi of

:30:15. > :30:22.very well, maybe coming into a gold medal position, also going well is

:30:23. > :30:30.Polieri... But it is Hentke of Germany by a 100th of a second! She

:30:31. > :30:33.was nowhere with 50 metres to go but Hentke just stole it. Brilliant

:30:34. > :30:38.pacing from her but my goodness me that was a late charge. That is why

:30:39. > :30:44.getting your finishing right is so important.

:30:45. > :30:49.She wasn't leading until her hands were on the wall. A lot of butterfly

:30:50. > :30:53.swimmers able to correct their stroke about ten metres out so they

:30:54. > :30:58.finish on a perfect stroke and she did that. You can see that weird

:30:59. > :31:05.breathing to the side makes it a little lopsided. But wow, perfect

:31:06. > :31:13.finish from Hentke. Szilagyi pulled her hands a bit back and while she

:31:14. > :31:25.was going back, Hentke edges in. Gold in the 200 metre fly for women.

:31:26. > :31:28.That wasn't what we expected, we were expecting to hear the Italian

:31:29. > :31:32.national anthem later on. That may have a significant effect on the

:31:33. > :31:41.medal table because they are just above Britain, no pedal there, what

:31:42. > :31:47.happened? -- medal. She's not the fastest swimmer. It was interesting

:31:48. > :31:50.watching her and Hentke breathing to the side, normally they breathe

:31:51. > :31:55.straight on. That wouldn't have had an effect on the result, she just

:31:56. > :31:58.wasn't as fast as the others. Traditional butterfly, you come up

:31:59. > :32:01.and breathe at the front. Those girls were breathing to the side.

:32:02. > :32:06.They're not watching one another, that's what they do. It keeps your

:32:07. > :32:11.body a little flatter. It's what suits you, really. Surely you are

:32:12. > :32:15.looking out as well and keeping an eye on it. Yes, ultimately we've

:32:16. > :32:19.always talked about it is you, the water and the wall and doing your

:32:20. > :32:21.own race. In a middle distance event you do push yourself and you are

:32:22. > :32:26.against other people. Let's you do push yourself and you are

:32:27. > :32:29.about the 400m individual medley. We thought Dan Wallace was going

:32:30. > :32:35.about the 400m individual medley. We in this one but he finished

:32:36. > :32:39.about the 400m individual medley. We pick himself a place in the final.

:32:40. > :32:46.Let's see how he goes. COMMENTATOR: Heat five of the men's 400m

:32:47. > :33:00.individual medley. Max Litchfield in lane five. The final heat of this

:33:01. > :33:02.men's 400 metres individual medley and Max Litchfield from Great

:33:03. > :33:09.Britain with the blue hat right in the centre that. One lane close to

:33:10. > :33:13.us is the World Championship silver-medallist, Verraszto. Good

:33:14. > :33:17.opportunity for Max Litchfield, he's waited quite a while for this 400

:33:18. > :33:21.beta medley, he was the British champion. Finally he's got a great

:33:22. > :33:26.of that unity to make this final. He did well to make the final of the

:33:27. > :33:30.200 medley earlier this week. This is his main event and it's got to be

:33:31. > :33:33.tough to have to wait to the last day to be swimming your best event.

:33:34. > :33:36.You see the highs and lows of the rest of the swim team and it's

:33:37. > :33:40.really important you don't get affected by those. Particularly

:33:41. > :33:44.wherever your roommate is, you don't get caught up in their swim. It

:33:45. > :33:51.takes a bit of experience to get used to holding out for those seven

:33:52. > :33:56.days. Litchfield in the centre, going well. Very tight indeed but

:33:57. > :34:02.turned first. One of about five or six, very good turn down at the

:34:03. > :34:10.bottom of the screen. I think that was Gal Nevo of Israel who got a

:34:11. > :34:23.silver medal on the 200m medley. This field has had a decent fly. The

:34:24. > :34:26.Hungary and has got a challenge because there are two very good

:34:27. > :34:34.Hungarians who are slightly faster, only two are allowed to go through.

:34:35. > :34:36.He's got to be careful here. He and Verraszto will be pushing the heat

:34:37. > :34:41.is because they want to make sure they are the top 200 Aryans. Not

:34:42. > :34:47.only are they racing against the rest of the field, there is an

:34:48. > :34:58.independent race going on. Gyurta already swam in the previous heats.

:34:59. > :35:05.A bit of an extra battle going on. He does have some work to do. 4.17

:35:06. > :35:14.is pretty quick. Verraszto probably the class of the field. Max

:35:15. > :35:22.Litchfield is still very well placed in between those two Hungary and is.

:35:23. > :35:33.Lovely breaststroke there on the side but look at him going. Strong

:35:34. > :35:37.breast road, making the most of that. It's about making the most of

:35:38. > :35:40.your strength in the medley and mitigating your weaknesses. You

:35:41. > :35:44.don't want to push the weaker strokes so hard it takes everything

:35:45. > :35:52.out of the strong ones but equally don't want to get left behind. Max

:35:53. > :35:58.Litchfield, a strong feast I -- a strong freestyler. Verraszto is the

:35:59. > :36:04.clear favourite for this event. He is using him well. Verraszto looked

:36:05. > :36:08.comfortable in the fly and the back but he's working this breaststroke

:36:09. > :36:17.much harder. The final heat of this men's 400 metres individual medley,

:36:18. > :36:24.Verraszto in first, Nevo, right with Litchfield. This is good to in from

:36:25. > :36:34.Litchfield. In great position, chasing Verraszto down the pool.

:36:35. > :36:37.Strong freestyler, a good swim from Max Litchfield. Really good to him

:36:38. > :36:42.if he can try and get a lane in the centre of the pool for the final,

:36:43. > :36:48.give himself a great opportunity to chase down David Verraszto who is

:36:49. > :36:57.the more experienced. He is 27 years of age. A super turn from

:36:58. > :37:03.Litchfield. He's having a go at the defending champion. This is quite

:37:04. > :37:07.impressive stuff, really. I didn't expect to be this close, five metres

:37:08. > :37:15.to go. This final heat of the 400 metre medley. Those three pretty

:37:16. > :37:32.sure to go through to the final. I think poor old Gratz is going to

:37:33. > :37:35.be out of the final as the third Hungary on. Max Litchfield will be

:37:36. > :37:45.hoping to join Ben Proud on that podium. Ben got a podium and macro

:37:46. > :37:48.bronze medal. A great swim from the 21-year-old comic huge

:37:49. > :37:52.congratulations to Ben Proud. I want to talk about Dan Wallace, Andy

:37:53. > :37:58.Jamieson, you were watching the heats earlier on today, what did you

:37:59. > :38:01.make of his swim? Dan looked uncomfortable in the 400m medley

:38:02. > :38:06.this morning, he didn't have a good 200m earlier in the week. He and

:38:07. > :38:14.Commonwealth champion and a key part of the men's four by 200m last year.

:38:15. > :38:22.He has been selected to Rio but is having a challenging week. Where's

:38:23. > :38:26.his form and what can he do now, more importantly, so this doesn't

:38:27. > :38:31.knock you back even more, but to be ready for Rio. He is doing something

:38:32. > :38:34.quite significant, we've heard he is changing coaches and moving back

:38:35. > :38:39.from America because he's been out in the States. What do you make of

:38:40. > :38:44.that? I think it's really important that he shakes it up. The selectors

:38:45. > :38:48.obviously see something in him, they see that flair he had last year and

:38:49. > :38:51.in winning the Commonwealth title. There's something there, they need

:38:52. > :38:56.to work through hard to make sure this hasn't knocked him mentally.

:38:57. > :39:00.And changing clubs so close to an Olympic Games to make that has made

:39:01. > :39:10.us possible. What do you say to someone like Dan, if his confidence

:39:11. > :39:14.has been knocked? How do you pick him up? I'm hoping he's one of those

:39:15. > :39:18.guys, he's getting a bit older, we all get a bit older every year but

:39:19. > :39:23.every year it's a bit harder to do the hard work. It breaks you down a

:39:24. > :39:26.bit more. I'm hoping some swimmers, when they are in heavy training,

:39:27. > :39:32.they really breaks down and then they come massively up on a Haifa

:39:33. > :39:37.the actual games themselves. I'm hoping he's one of those. I'm really

:39:38. > :39:42.hoping he's focusing on the Olympic Games, so he's had a really tough

:39:43. > :39:47.period of training, he's going to rest and coming up into the Olympic

:39:48. > :39:50.Games he's going to fly. He's trained in America, they are very

:39:51. > :39:55.good at that, they are good at working very hard and peaking at one

:39:56. > :40:00.championships, there are American College National 's. I think he can

:40:01. > :40:04.do it but I would make sure he's OK and do whatever we can to make sure

:40:05. > :40:08.he's on top. He's still got just under 11 weeks to go, it's a long

:40:09. > :40:14.time. I wouldn't panic, plenty to do, make sure he's working hard and

:40:15. > :40:17.then give him a longer rest into the championship and hopefully he'll be

:40:18. > :40:21.right on it the day he has to swim in Rio. I'm sure I'm not the any

:40:22. > :40:27.person who wants to see those celebrations. We have got Max

:40:28. > :40:35.Litchfield in this one. Time for the 400m individual medley.

:40:36. > :40:46.COMMENTATOR: Max is in lane five, second fastest qualifier. In lane

:40:47. > :40:47.four, the big contrary, the defending champion Verraszto of

:40:48. > :41:06.Hungary. There is Gyurta, he is pretty much a

:41:07. > :41:14.distance swimmer. There are a couple of distance swimmers and a couple of

:41:15. > :41:22.flyers. Gal Nevo, he did really well in the individual medley. You expect

:41:23. > :41:26.to see more of them doubling up, the 200m and 400m medley. No surprise

:41:27. > :41:35.the distance freestylers are in the mix here. They are the swimmers that

:41:36. > :41:39.are in the pool the longest, putting in the most metres. A different kind

:41:40. > :41:52.of training and if you're doing the 50m. It lends itself well to spread

:41:53. > :41:55.over those kind of events. Max Litchfield, the 21-year-old from

:41:56. > :41:59.Sheffield, representing Great Britain. He's not swum any major

:42:00. > :42:06.championship so this is going to be a really interesting experience for

:42:07. > :42:14.him. He is next to David Verraszto, the defending champion. The great

:42:15. > :42:22.thing for me is that Max Litchfield can practice every single phase of

:42:23. > :42:24.his race, going through each phase. Absolutely, sitting next to David

:42:25. > :42:30.Verraszto, he's been Absolutely, sitting next to David

:42:31. > :42:35.watch what he's doing, learn from it and go through that nerve wracking

:42:36. > :42:39.experience of sitting on your own right before you go out in the

:42:40. > :42:45.centre lane for a European Championship final. This is one of

:42:46. > :42:49.the more difficult things to do, if you are announced last you are the

:42:50. > :42:52.last guy to get ready to go so you are the last guy with your top on

:42:53. > :42:57.and you feel like everyone is watching you. You just have to be

:42:58. > :43:05.called, stay in control. Fran did it wonderfully in her final. She was

:43:06. > :43:14.great at it, great experience for Litchfield in lane five. Verraszto

:43:15. > :43:20.in lane four. Max Litchfield a bit slow to get stood on the blocks and

:43:21. > :43:25.again controlling the start. It was fine but everyone waiting for him

:43:26. > :43:31.again. That's interesting to see. He was very quick way, fastest reaction

:43:32. > :43:33.of all eight swimmers. It's unusual on a 400 medley, they don't

:43:34. > :43:38.necessarily have back commitment to a quick start. And to see, we talk

:43:39. > :43:45.about working all the phases and that's what he's doing. He was 0.6

:43:46. > :43:52.for the second from when the gun went when his toes left the block.

:43:53. > :44:01.He was one 100th ahead of Gal Nevo of Israel. The rest of the guys a

:44:02. > :44:09.tent or two back. This is a good fly leg for Great Britain's Litchfield.

:44:10. > :44:13.Slightly awkward stroke... His kick is maybe a bit early but it's

:44:14. > :44:19.effective. That's about what he did in the heats and now we expect

:44:20. > :44:28.Verraszto to start moving now, his backstroke is really good. A good

:44:29. > :44:32.200m backstroke, excellent start from Max Litchfield. A very strange

:44:33. > :44:38.stroke, stiff looking but it was effective. He needs to hang in

:44:39. > :44:42.there. The week as part of his event is the back breast. He's a strong

:44:43. > :44:45.freestyler. If he can start chasing swimmers down, picking them off, he

:44:46. > :44:51.will do really well and can work towards a great time. Did turn from

:44:52. > :45:05.Litchfield using the underwater phase. Keith using energy there, he

:45:06. > :45:10.could keep his head a bit more still. It's slightly Paula

:45:11. > :45:19.Radcliffe. It is, nodding his head, acknowledging the crowds, maybe.

:45:20. > :45:31.The Hungarian leaving, and great to see Britain's Max Litchfield in

:45:32. > :45:34.second place. There are some very strong swimmers in this field,

:45:35. > :45:44.interesting to see how they come back. The Hungarian in seven is also

:45:45. > :45:55.an excellent distance freestyler too. He's going to have his work cut

:45:56. > :46:01.out here. When I was swimming medleys, I just wanted to get them

:46:02. > :46:04.behind me. What he's doing well is, within each stroke he's coming back

:46:05. > :46:17.stronger on the second 50 of every stroke. Max Litchfield is doing that

:46:18. > :46:22.superbly. Some very good freestyler is lining up just behind and just

:46:23. > :46:32.ahead of him. No doubt about the leader, Verraszto of Hungary. He won

:46:33. > :46:42.the last event here. Verraszto first, second is Nagy, and then

:46:43. > :46:48.Lichfield. He has some huge work to do some yellow Max Litchfield good

:46:49. > :47:00.at the 200 and 400 freestyle. He has the turn of speed that you might

:47:01. > :47:05.need. Gyurta is good over distance. What can Max Litchfield find? He's

:47:06. > :47:17.forth just at the moment but he is right in the hunt. I don't think

:47:18. > :47:24.he's going to catch Verraszto but he has a battle for the bronze medal or

:47:25. > :47:27.maybe even the silver medal. The Italian one lane up from him. Just

:47:28. > :47:37.in the bronze medal position, Verraszto wins it, Nagy in second

:47:38. > :47:46.and it was a valiant effort from Max Lichfield but he just lost it in the

:47:47. > :47:53.end. Verraszto of Hungary defending his title. No doubt about the

:47:54. > :47:57.winner. Great swim from Verraszto. Looks a bit nonplussed about the

:47:58. > :48:08.whole thing really! Hungary having a great meet. It was the backstroke

:48:09. > :48:13.leg that really made the difference. There you can see he was being

:48:14. > :48:20.closed down but he still had enough. He looked very tired at the end.

:48:21. > :48:30.Well, David Verraszto wins the men's individual 400 metres medley from

:48:31. > :48:32.Hungary. Lichfield down in fifth, but not a bad swim. He will have

:48:33. > :48:40.learnt a lot from that. Max Litchfield has had a good year,

:48:41. > :48:44.won the British title a couple of months ago. Missed out on a medal in

:48:45. > :48:50.Berlin and missed out on a medal here, how does he move it on? I

:48:51. > :48:52.think. Unlike Max, who is not a very experienced senior athlete, it's

:48:53. > :48:58.really tough to enter these competitions now. Swimming well in

:48:59. > :49:02.the heats to enter the finals and then backing it up and running close

:49:03. > :49:05.to your personal best. We don't have a massive amount of depth in the

:49:06. > :49:10.country so when he goes to the British event a month ago, he didn't

:49:11. > :49:14.have to swim that fast in the heat to make it through to the final.

:49:15. > :49:18.Going through to Rio, that is something he can take away from this

:49:19. > :49:21.hit and you have to use that and give yourself a bit of confidence,

:49:22. > :49:26.even though it is three seconds off his personal best. I know he went in

:49:27. > :49:31.second into the final but the final time was closer to what he did in

:49:32. > :49:34.the heat. The flight looked lovely, nice and long and relaxed.

:49:35. > :49:42.Backstroke is not bad, lovely underwater. His freestyle was a bit

:49:43. > :49:45.crabby towards the end. I mean a bit like this, it didn't flow too

:49:46. > :49:51.But a lot of people's strokes, it But a lot of people's strokes, it

:49:52. > :49:59.under the water -- on top of the water,

:50:00. > :50:01.under the water -- on top of the underneath. It is about that

:50:02. > :50:05.experience. Verraszto didn't win a medal at any major championships

:50:06. > :50:09.until 24, and medal at any major championships

:50:10. > :50:12.only 21, so a lot of positives. You're talking about taking away

:50:13. > :50:17.positives and negatives, and we will talk about what happened for you

:50:18. > :50:21.pre-Beijing, because that will be interesting for a lot of the

:50:22. > :50:27.athletes. Let's hear from Max now though. Max, very consistent today,

:50:28. > :50:32.what will you take away from these championships? It's about the

:50:33. > :50:41.process really and nailing down what we can be doing well in Rio. I'm

:50:42. > :50:47.really happy with those swims, the fastest times I've had and to back

:50:48. > :50:54.it up is great. What sort of difference would you like to see?

:50:55. > :50:57.What do you think you cannot out a 400 IM in? I think I cancel a little

:50:58. > :51:04.bit quicker, especially my 400 IM in? I think I cancel a little

:51:05. > :51:09.breaststroke. It just brings it all together really. Thank you very

:51:10. > :51:17.much. Last night Britain got two gold medals in the pool. We have

:51:18. > :51:23.already seen Fran Halsall's, here is the other one.

:51:24. > :51:31.COMMENTATOR: The final of the men's 200 metre breaststroke. Very fast

:51:32. > :51:35.COMMENTATOR: The final of the men's indeed is Peter Stevens and number

:51:36. > :51:42.three for Slovenia. What a great warm up this is for the Olympic

:51:43. > :51:51.Games. Murdoch could be on for a medal but it's all about Peaty!

:51:52. > :51:56.Peaty wins gold. His time, 26.66, exactly the same time as the

:51:57. > :52:00.semifinal, a exactly the same time as the

:52:01. > :52:07.his world record that he broke here before. That is a relief brilliant

:52:08. > :52:11.swim from him and what a great race. Gold in the hundred and now gold in

:52:12. > :52:19.the 50. Quick reactions but again not the best way underwater. Look at

:52:20. > :52:25.that power. So quick on that takeover. Great flow. Ross coming

:52:26. > :52:31.back stronger all the time in that race but couldn't catch Peter

:52:32. > :52:40.Stevens. Adam Beattie nodded his head alike, that will do! -- had a

:52:41. > :52:50.Peaty. It certainly will do, Adam Peaty successfully defends the title

:52:51. > :52:56.he won before, very fast. Splash and dash! If you put too much thought

:52:57. > :53:00.into it... I got the same time as yesterday. Really happy with that.

:53:01. > :53:05.You must be very pleased. It's very excited for you? That's my ninth

:53:06. > :53:09.race this week so far, so I'm delighted with the way my body has

:53:10. > :53:13.held up through the week. To get a medal in my weakest event, I'm

:53:14. > :53:21.absolutely delighted. It was gold in the 200 metres best Rob, silver in

:53:22. > :53:31.the 100 metres best Rob and now bronze in the 50. -- the 100 metre

:53:32. > :53:33.breatstroke. What a meet Rob has had.

:53:34. > :53:41.It was gold in the 100 and now it's gold in the 50. Very close to the

:53:42. > :53:49.world record as well. He's not rested but my goodness me he will be

:53:50. > :53:53.ready in 11 weeks from today. European Champions Cup the men's 50

:53:54. > :53:56.metres breatstroke, Adam Peaty of Great Britain.

:53:57. > :54:09.STUDIO That was the Swedish national anthem

:54:10. > :54:15.for Jennie Johansson. Jazz Carlin has a ready got one medal this week

:54:16. > :54:20.and now she is going in the 400. I think missing out four years ago was

:54:21. > :54:25.really tough. Me, my family and everyone who had seen me throughout

:54:26. > :54:31.my career. A home Olympics as well, that only comes around once every

:54:32. > :54:34.lifetime really. I wanted to give it one more shot and think I'm going to

:54:35. > :54:38.give it everything and throw everything at it. It's been four

:54:39. > :54:47.years of worry, stress, heartache and it has carried on through and it

:54:48. > :54:52.will be a relief. How has being here in Bath and moving your training

:54:53. > :54:55.base helped? I think when you move programme it's always quite

:54:56. > :54:58.different, you never know how you're going to adapt to the training,

:54:59. > :55:01.whether it's going to take a few months or a year. Last year I didn't

:55:02. > :55:07.really have the biggest expectations but I knew with McNulty might coach

:55:08. > :55:13.that we were going to put together a great programme. I know going into

:55:14. > :55:18.Rio that is going to be so important. I need him and I've got

:55:19. > :55:23.so much respect and trust for him. We're going to work together so hard

:55:24. > :55:26.to make Rio a success. It's going to be my first Olympics and that's so

:55:27. > :55:31.exciting, I'm going to be going to a competition I've never been to

:55:32. > :55:36.before. I've got that drive to do well in training. Everyone has got

:55:37. > :55:41.dreams and goals and I'm going to do everything I can.

:55:42. > :55:45.COMMENTATOR: The bronze has gone to Jazz Carlin, she has finally got a

:55:46. > :55:53.medal at the European Championships! What would an Olympic medal mean to

:55:54. > :55:59.you? I think everything. Just being at Olympics is amazing, only once

:56:00. > :56:03.every four years, had been on the podium would be amazing. Wearing the

:56:04. > :56:06.kit is amazing that you want to be on that podium and fighting for the

:56:07. > :56:09.medals. I can't wait to put everything into training for the

:56:10. > :56:14.race in Rio. Here is Jazz Carlin. Jazz, the

:56:15. > :56:45.defending champion. It looks like it's going to be gold

:56:46. > :56:54.to tap the Hungarian and the silver medal to Jazz Carlin of Great

:56:55. > :57:00.Britain. Today was a silver but I'm looking forward to the 400 on

:57:01. > :57:04.Sunday. A great silver medal for Great Britain's Jazz Carlin.

:57:05. > :57:11.Let's bring in Sharron Davies on this one. She has actually lived

:57:12. > :57:20.with you for a little while. Just talk us through how much it means to

:57:21. > :57:24.her? When she moved from Wales to be at Bath, she was looking for

:57:25. > :57:29.somewhere to stay briefly and she stayed with me. She's extremely

:57:30. > :57:34.careful with her food. One of the things they've been trying to work

:57:35. > :57:39.on is putting a bit of muscle and wait on, because she's a ferret. I

:57:40. > :57:43.think she burns up quite a lot of nervous energy, so that has been one

:57:44. > :57:47.of her big plans. I would love to see her do it because nobody works

:57:48. > :57:52.any harder than Jazz does. She really deserves it. She's been

:57:53. > :57:57.really consistent in the last four years and she just needs to keep it

:57:58. > :58:05.together this year. She has had some injuries but there are 11 weeks and

:58:06. > :58:14.if anyone can do it, jazz can. -- Jazz can. Listen to the cheers for

:58:15. > :58:20.Jazz Carlin. You are laughing at me because every time the British crowd

:58:21. > :58:21.goes crazy, I say "Listen to that"! As someone who will never experience

:58:22. > :58:26.that, that must be the best As someone who will never experience

:58:27. > :58:28.in the world? It is amazing. As someone who will never experience

:58:29. > :58:34.Especially this weekend has been sold out, great to see everyone

:58:35. > :58:41.coming out to support the athletes. The Hungarian is fantastic, she has

:58:42. > :58:49.got golds in other events. It's going to be a tough race for Jazz.

:58:50. > :58:54.In 11 weeks's time, we don't even have the Americans and Australians

:58:55. > :58:58.in this one, a tough fight for Jazz? Yes, but coming here, she knows the

:58:59. > :59:06.work she's doing at the moment. All these girls are at different

:59:07. > :59:06.work she's doing at the moment. All of their preparations. Katie

:59:07. > :59:10.work she's doing at the moment. All has gone, she has won the gold

:59:11. > :59:18.medal. But what about that that but she

:59:19. > :59:21.medal. But what about that that but the Olympic trials, you can't really

:59:22. > :59:25.have that. Lately I would say her best bet is the 400. Well, Jazz

:59:26. > :05:29.Carlin goes in A silver medal for Jazz Carlin

:05:30. > :05:39.bumped Britain up to second in the medal table, just ahead of Italy.

:05:40. > :05:45.How will she be feeling? She'll be absolutely buzzing. That was only

:05:46. > :05:48.0.5 after the Olympic trials. The 400 is looking really strong. She

:05:49. > :05:53.needs to work a bit on her terms, and that leg kick, it really

:05:54. > :06:01.frustrates me, she just needs to bring her legs kick on a bit earlier

:06:02. > :06:12.on in the race. I've done loads of training sessions with Jazz and I

:06:13. > :06:20.know she's got it in her. Ten three macro with which Sharon.

:06:21. > :06:23.Congratulations. Tee silver medals. Silver is my medals for this meat

:06:24. > :06:28.but that gives me more motivation for Rio. I'm going to put everything

:06:29. > :06:33.into training and hopefully I can put it right in Rio. Becky was

:06:34. > :06:36.talking about those terms, it must frustrate all of us. We have been

:06:37. > :06:40.working on them. It's about working on your terms but trying to work on

:06:41. > :06:44.the speed as well which I'm so good at. It's about finding that balance

:06:45. > :06:49.and we are working on the little things in training but naturally,

:06:50. > :06:52.just not very gifted at turns unfortunately. It's never going to

:06:53. > :06:59.be my strongest thing. Looking at the times you've swum, this week,

:07:00. > :07:03.what will your focus be in Rio? We've got a good block of training

:07:04. > :07:08.in now and I can really just work on fine tuning the little things. I

:07:09. > :07:12.want to work with my coach and icon way to get settled back into

:07:13. > :07:16.training. You're just going to avoid that question. I love both events

:07:17. > :07:21.and I'm just going to go for both of them and see what happens. Similar

:07:22. > :07:28.training for both so it's just about working hard and seeing what you can

:07:29. > :07:33.get. I bet she's thinking, back off on my turns. How important are those

:07:34. > :07:38.terms? You 14 Olympic medals on how will yours? Mine were awful. You do

:07:39. > :07:42.so many of them that they should be good. It is time for the 4x100 m

:07:43. > :08:02.medley relay. COMMENTATOR: The last women's race

:08:03. > :08:15.of this European Championships, it is the four by 100m medley relay.

:08:16. > :08:35.Sweden coming across the pool now and without the Hungary and is...

:08:36. > :08:42.Looking forward to seeing this Great Britain team, what a way to end the

:08:43. > :08:48.week if they could get on the podium.

:08:49. > :08:57.week if they could get on the a great opportunity for her. What a

:08:58. > :09:02.stunning bronze medal that Kathleen Dawson got. Chloe Tartan,

:09:03. > :09:10.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor and Fran Halsall. Of these eight women,

:09:11. > :09:12.Kathleen Dawson on the individual, clearly the highest ranked. She got

:09:13. > :09:31.the bronze. Next highest was Luthersdottir. Lovely

:09:32. > :09:35.underwater work there from Kathleen Dawson to come up

:09:36. > :09:38.underwater work there from Kathleen shoulder of Finland. She's going to

:09:39. > :09:46.be finishing strong. She is not part of the team going

:09:47. > :09:58.Tokyo 2020. Can she lead this team Tokyo 2020. Can she lead this team

:09:59. > :10:01.very well. She went 59.68, another sub 60, that's very impressive

:10:02. > :10:09.swimming from Kathleen Dawson. What a future she's got. She leads by 0.6

:10:10. > :10:12.seconds. It is the bronze-medallist on the individual 100 metres, its

:10:13. > :10:21.Chloe Tartan. This is going to be interesting. She too will finish

:10:22. > :10:25.strong. So key in the relay events, you don't get caught up in the

:10:26. > :10:29.excitement, still swim to your strengths, hold back, finish strong.

:10:30. > :10:36.Kathleen Dawson did that to full effect on the opening

:10:37. > :10:44.Kathleen Dawson did that to full needs to build on that solid

:10:45. > :10:49.Written looking good at the moment, looking very good indeed. This is

:10:50. > :10:56.going to be very tight indeed. Coming up to the halfway mark in

:10:57. > :10:59.this final of the women's four by 100m medley relay. Great Britain

:11:00. > :11:06.just about coming back into the lead. It is Great Britain first in

:11:07. > :11:14.six, Finland second, Iceland Bird, very tight indeed. 81 hundredths

:11:15. > :11:21.between those two. Now we've got Siobhan-Marie O'Connor. It's great

:11:22. > :11:24.to see Chloe finishing so well. It helps the swimmer whose diving in

:11:25. > :11:34.the swimmer coming in is finishing strong. It's much easier to take

:11:35. > :11:38.over. Good start from Mario Connor. Another swimmer who should be

:11:39. > :11:44.finishing strong towards the end of her leg. This is going to be

:11:45. > :11:47.fascinating, Fran Halsall is an excellent 50m freestyle, I'm not

:11:48. > :12:02.sure what she can do on the 100 metre. Chasing her is Hanna-Maria

:12:03. > :12:06.Seppala... Fran Halsall is in the water, very tight indeed for two and

:12:07. > :12:13.three. Fran Halsall surely can't give up this leads, they are going

:12:14. > :12:20.to be chasing her very hard. She's got to sit back, don't go out too

:12:21. > :12:23.fast, Fran. Hanna-Maria Seppala is a 50m specialist as well. She will

:12:24. > :12:29.struggle in the closing stages of 100 metres. We love seeing France

:12:30. > :12:39.win the 100 metre. She concentrates on the 15th but she can bang out a

:12:40. > :12:43.good 100 metre. The Italians coming back pretty quick. Fran Halsall

:12:44. > :12:47.isn't going to give this up. She won a wonderful gold medal on that 50m

:12:48. > :12:51.backstroke and in the mixed medley relay. She did really well on the

:12:52. > :13:00.Sprint fly and the Sprint free and she finishes with the gold in the

:13:01. > :13:04.women's four by 100m relay. Its goal to Britain, silver to Italy and

:13:05. > :13:11.bronze to Finland. Kathleen Dawson led her off, Chloe Tartan with a

:13:12. > :13:19.brilliant breaststroke leg, Shawn Marie -- Siobhan-Marie O'Connor.

:13:20. > :13:22.What a solid anchor it was. Super swings from the girls. Individually

:13:23. > :13:28.they did the job they needed to. They set the right pace, didn't go

:13:29. > :13:33.out too fast. You see the big crowd can get the adrenaline going and sat

:13:34. > :13:42.back and worked the second 50 every time in their leg. No one was going

:13:43. > :13:49.to catch Fran. Very good spirit in the half. -- very good split time

:13:50. > :14:04.for her. We can't help it, we loved it! What

:14:05. > :14:10.a performance, Fran and Siobhan. Talk us through that. Every single

:14:11. > :14:14.swimmer swum their perfect race. Kathleen with a brilliant lead-off.

:14:15. > :14:21.Chloe with a really strong breast died and got us back into the lead.

:14:22. > :14:28.Siobhan, an experienced relay swimmers. Fair play to Fran, she is

:14:29. > :14:34.a team player. She always steps upon the relays. Let's hear from them

:14:35. > :14:38.now. I was just showing the girls their splits. You caught me

:14:39. > :14:46.chatting. What a great week you've had, Kathleen. Definitely. I can't

:14:47. > :14:52.ever imagine coming here and doing that. You get to go home with a

:14:53. > :14:57.couple of medals including a gold. Definitely, I've no words. Chloe,

:14:58. > :15:02.you've had a fantastic week, lovely preparation to Rio. Definitely. It

:15:03. > :15:07.was so much fun and hopefully we can do the same in Rio. You does have

:15:08. > :15:10.had a handful of gold medals, this is the second one. You had a

:15:11. > :15:17.fantastic medley relay as well and a great week with your IM. Definitely,

:15:18. > :15:21.such a good race tonight. Great to finish on a high with these girls,

:15:22. > :15:25.what an amazing race. It's been a really good week and I think the

:15:26. > :15:36.team is on a good role and we want to keep it going till the summer.

:15:37. > :15:45.Are you going to change that this summer? We will do our best. The

:15:46. > :15:49.Danish decided not to swim in this and that opened the door for us and

:15:50. > :15:53.credit to all the girls, they put in a good leg. All I had to do was make

:15:54. > :15:57.sure I hit the wall first again. I feel like I've got an easy ride on

:15:58. > :16:04.these relays because that's all I have to do! But I'm looking forward

:16:05. > :16:10.to the Olympics now. I hear you want to open a copy shop? I do, a little

:16:11. > :16:14.copy shop in the Cheshire region, anyone is welcome! I expect some

:16:15. > :16:17.freebies when I come! Well done, ladies!

:16:18. > :16:21.STUDIO Can you swim and open a coffee shop

:16:22. > :16:31.or is she just giving us an exclusive there? Maybe she's going

:16:32. > :16:36.to retire and open a coffee shop! Knutsford... Lovely Knutsford! She

:16:37. > :16:42.Kinder said that after landing, she hinted she might pack it in but

:16:43. > :16:47.thankfully she didn't. We feel like she's in fantastic form coming in,

:16:48. > :16:50.could this be her year? I think so and this will be her third Olympic

:16:51. > :16:56.Games, I think she's learned so much. She is now race smart.

:16:57. > :17:00.Sometimes she's saying I'm going to get loads and loads of medals, but

:17:01. > :17:07.now she's saying I just want to enjoy it, I'm training hard. What a

:17:08. > :17:14.fantastic experience for all of those girls. You've got Kathleen at

:17:15. > :17:18.one end and Fran at the other end. Let's talk about the swimming now

:17:19. > :17:24.because earlier in the week mark and Becky did a Facebook live chat. If

:17:25. > :17:32.you want to see what they said about all things swimming. It's a bit more

:17:33. > :17:37.general. -- Mark and Becky. It was less about the European

:17:38. > :17:42.Championships and more about a bathing suit!

:17:43. > :17:46.Of course these championships aren't just about swimming. Britain has

:17:47. > :17:50.some very impressive guys and girls just about swimming. Britain has

:17:51. > :17:54.who go off high boards at just about swimming. Britain has

:17:55. > :18:02.European Championships went very just about swimming. Britain has

:18:03. > :18:15.well indeed. It was ace! Dainty little Georgie, hop skip and a jump.

:18:16. > :18:34.Phenomenal dive. That will be good enough for silver. Exceptional!

:18:35. > :18:40.Beautiful dive. The British team are on their feet, the coaches are

:18:41. > :18:54.smiling. Supreme diving from Tom Daley, China bit where! -- China bit

:18:55. > :18:57.where -- beware! Spectacular finish. Fair to say a very successful

:18:58. > :19:02.European Championships, Tom Daley. Two gold medals and one elder, how

:19:03. > :19:06.happy are you? I'm over the moon. It's always amazing being able to

:19:07. > :19:10.dive in front of a home crowd. This pool has so many great memories for

:19:11. > :19:14.me. It's so nice to be able to compete in front of your friends and

:19:15. > :19:19.family and have a sell-out crowd come and cheer. Your mum is over

:19:20. > :19:25.there, she must be the most nervous woman in Britain! My mum has got

:19:26. > :19:31.nerves of steel, she just sits there and that's a long, are to delight!

:19:32. > :19:35.David Smart, the head of British swimming, came over and was like,

:19:36. > :19:44.Tom did well, didn't he? She was like, yeah, he did all right! It was

:19:45. > :19:48.0.94 away from the gold medal in the synchro which could have made it a

:19:49. > :19:52.hat-trick, but I'm over the moon with the individual medals. How

:19:53. > :19:58.nerve racking is it for you let alone your mum? You and Minibaev

:19:59. > :20:03.were kind of in your own condition, were you aware of what they were --

:20:04. > :20:06.what he was doing in his dives? Yes, I watch every dive because I love to

:20:07. > :20:08.see how they I watch every dive because I love to

:20:09. > :20:13.on the board it's I watch every dive because I love to

:20:14. > :20:19.sure I'd do better than them. It just makes me, it gives me that it

:20:20. > :20:23.more of adrenaline, I guess. Your second dive, you're the only person

:20:24. > :20:25.who does that in the world. Your face, as

:20:26. > :20:30.who does that in the world. Your picture. How are you feeling? That

:20:31. > :20:37.is the dive that makes the competition or breaks it for me, it

:20:38. > :20:42.is the one. It's risky to do because my arm twister was like a

:20:43. > :20:45.horrendous. I had to change it and do something different. For me it's

:20:46. > :20:48.just about making sure I get the start right. If I get the start

:20:49. > :20:53.right, everything else flows. Banding on that board, it was

:20:54. > :20:57.terrifying because I knew Victor had just had a great dive before me and

:20:58. > :21:01.I knew I had to do it better. This is very much a sport where Fortune

:21:02. > :21:04.favours the brave and you have to take those risks. In the last

:21:05. > :21:11.European Championships, British divers took on five medals, this

:21:12. > :21:18.time out, ten medals. How is the mood? Our last Europeans was our

:21:19. > :21:24.most successful and now we have gone and one ten, which just shows that

:21:25. > :21:29.British diving is in a really really strong position going to the Olympic

:21:30. > :21:33.Games. -- won ten. Are you all thinking about Rio now? There's not

:21:34. > :21:38.a second that goes by when you're not thinking about Rio! How much you

:21:39. > :21:42.sleep, how much you eat them what training you do, it's all geared

:21:43. > :21:47.towards that one moment in Rio when you're in a competition and you have

:21:48. > :21:51.to make all those dives count. It puts us in a good position leading

:21:52. > :21:55.into Rio. It's a subjective sport, so for the judges to be able to see

:21:56. > :22:00.us doing so well overall as a team, fingers crossed in this competition

:22:01. > :22:05.but I think we've won the overall European diving team title. It's

:22:06. > :22:08.really exciting. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed because I don't

:22:09. > :22:13.want to jinx you. Congratulations this week and good luck for the next

:22:14. > :22:16.few months. Thank you very much. That was me talking to Tom last week

:22:17. > :22:23.before the last dive of the competition. Britain moved to the

:22:24. > :22:28.top of the table with 11 medals, three gold, five silver and three

:22:29. > :22:42.bronze. Oh look, Britain are above Italy again! Just saying! That's

:22:43. > :22:45.all. We heard O'Connor saying to Sharon that success breeds success

:22:46. > :22:48.and have a knock-on effect, is it the same way with the divers and the

:22:49. > :22:58.swimmers, do you have much interaction? We're quite different,

:22:59. > :23:02.I'm obviously social! To be fair, it takes as two powers to leave here!

:23:03. > :23:05.At the Olympic games it's a multisport event and all the

:23:06. > :23:11.sportsmen are there together and you do meet the divers and the rowers

:23:12. > :23:18.and the cyclists and they look at you as if you're mad, in the hall. I

:23:19. > :23:27.used to chat to everyone. Mark Foster is chatting to everybody and

:23:28. > :23:31.anyone who will listen. I don't do social media, Hannah Skelton!

:23:32. > :23:41.Tell-tale, Grasser! We wouldn't have you any other way! We want you

:23:42. > :23:53.focused. Next up it's time for the Men's 4x100m relay. In the team

:23:54. > :23:56.tonight we have Chris Walker-Hebborn, Ross Murdoch Duncan

:23:57. > :24:05.Scott and Robert Rennick. COMMENTATOR: It is the Men's 4x100m

:24:06. > :24:08.Medley Relay. There are some big guys in this race. France in six are

:24:09. > :24:15.going to be tough to beat. Hungary in three. And here is team Great

:24:16. > :24:28.Britain. Chris Walker-Hebborn, he has had a bit of a tough meet. The

:24:29. > :24:33.first two swimmers were Chris Walker-Hebborn and Adam Peaty. These

:24:34. > :24:43.guys are going to be difficult to beat. They will be, they've got

:24:44. > :24:46.Florent Manaudou and you wouldn't want to be anywhere near him when

:24:47. > :24:51.he's closing down. Let's hope that Sharon is right, success breeds

:24:52. > :24:58.success and they will just have seen their team-mates win. They won't

:24:59. > :25:04.want anything less than gold now, will they? There is a great chance

:25:05. > :25:07.here. The interesting thing for us is that we've got a relatively

:25:08. > :25:13.strong front end compared to the rest of the field and then, well,

:25:14. > :25:23.the back end is relatively less strong. That's when everyone...

:25:24. > :25:27.Interesting full Italy, no Sabbioni, he was the bronze medallist in the

:25:28. > :25:32.individual backstroke. It may well be that after this first leg, Great

:25:33. > :25:37.Britain could be in about fourth or fifth, then we get Peaty in and

:25:38. > :25:42.hopefully we will be ahead if we're lucky. We're starting to rely on him

:25:43. > :25:45.an awful lot. And then it will be interesting. James guy going on the

:25:46. > :25:53.butterfly leg, we haven't really had a chance to see how his butterfly is

:25:54. > :26:05.going. And Duncan Scott, who's done a number of races this year. So,

:26:06. > :26:13.Great Britain in two, Ireland in one. A new Irish record-holder and a

:26:14. > :26:15.new Irishman, Shane Ryan, just qualified to swim for Ireland can

:26:16. > :26:20.he's going to represent Ireland in the Olympics and he swam very well.

:26:21. > :26:29.Chris Walker-Hebborn of Great Britain leading off in two.

:26:30. > :26:35.The final final of this European Swimming Championships in London.

:26:36. > :26:39.Some very close swimmers to that 15 metre mark but Great Britain one

:26:40. > :26:44.lane from the bottom and going grey well. Right at the bottom is Shane

:26:45. > :26:47.Ryan from Ireland going well. Chris Walker-Hebborn hasn't had the best

:26:48. > :26:51.week in terms of his individual swims, so this a chance for him to

:26:52. > :26:58.finish on something positive to go home and finish that last blog of

:26:59. > :27:04.training into Rio. He's turned in about seventh position, Chris

:27:05. > :27:06.Walker-Hebborn. Going well still is the

:27:07. > :27:10.Walker-Hebborn. Going well still is Green had at the bottom.

:27:11. > :27:13.Walker-Hebborn. Going well still is green hat. Italy, Lithuania and

:27:14. > :27:17.France in fourth, fifth green hat. Italy, Lithuania and

:27:18. > :27:23.in four, five and six. Very good green hat. Italy, Lithuania and

:27:24. > :27:28.indeed. Chris green hat. Italy, Lithuania and

:27:29. > :27:33.is his fastest swim of the meat and what a great time to be doing it.

:27:34. > :27:37.Now we've got Adam Peaty, Peaty in the white hat. Tends to take the

:27:38. > :27:45.first 25 to get going and then really moves. But he's got some

:27:46. > :27:51.tough guys against him, Lithuania's Titenis in five particular. He needs

:27:52. > :27:59.to put as much water as possible between him and the teams near him.

:28:00. > :28:05.He will want to edge away as well as he can. Well, Peaty is doing well.

:28:06. > :28:14.James Guy is a brilliant 200 meter freestyle. But he is not as for his

:28:15. > :28:17.flight. He has got clear water but he will need it. James Guy in next

:28:18. > :28:25.on the butterfly leg. So, it is he will need it. James Guy in next

:28:26. > :28:29.Peaty, to Guy. Great Britain nearly two seconds ahead but I'm not sure

:28:30. > :28:32.it will be enough. Lithuania second, Greece third. The rest of the

:28:33. > :28:38.Bhullar absolutely charging him down. He's going well. He has a good

:28:39. > :28:42.lead, some five metres. The Frenchman in the white hat... He has

:28:43. > :28:50.been finishing strong in his races. Frenchman in the white hat... He has

:28:51. > :28:54.The butterfly kick on the side from James Guy, excellent

:28:55. > :28:58.The butterfly kick on the side from be strong towards the end, he's got

:28:59. > :29:02.that injuries, but he needs to give Duncan Scott a big lead because

:29:03. > :29:08.there are some big guns going on the anchor leg! This is a brilliant swim

:29:09. > :29:15.from James Guy. Careful of the takeover. James Guy has handed over

:29:16. > :29:25.to Duncan Scott. He's got a lead of 2.18 seconds. My goodness me, the

:29:26. > :29:31.charge is coming now. Look in lane six, that is Florent Manaudou, the

:29:32. > :29:37.champion. He is flying down, flying. He is flying down, he is a 50 metre

:29:38. > :29:44.specialist but also in the 100 He is flying down, he is a 50 metre

:29:45. > :29:48.freestyle, Luca Dotto of Italy, he will be coming back. Duncan Scott is

:29:49. > :29:52.looking to his right and they are coming back at him! This is quite

:29:53. > :29:57.extraordinary, Duncan Scott for Great Britain, I never thought that

:29:58. > :30:01.the back end was going to be strong and Great Britain winning the final

:30:02. > :30:10.race in fine fashion, gold in the Men's 4x100m meter medley relay! The

:30:11. > :30:13.bronze goes to Hungary and the silver to favourites France and team

:30:14. > :30:18.Great Britain, take a bow, that was superb! Great swim, they're happy

:30:19. > :30:23.with that, aren't they? James Guy there on the right. He did an

:30:24. > :30:28.excellent job on the butterfly leg. He wasn't fazed and they were coming

:30:29. > :30:32.back at. 51.69 him the split for him. Duncan Scott, well, he must

:30:33. > :30:39.have been feeling the pressure when he died in.

:30:40. > :30:48.Very good Chris Walker. He will go away with something positive. It

:30:49. > :30:53.didn't start off so well with the 400 metre freestyle for James Guy

:30:54. > :30:58.but Duncan Scott didn't know what hit him. I bet he was very grateful

:30:59. > :31:03.he had a two second lead. They were flying, can you imagine having the

:31:04. > :31:08.monster that is Florent Manaudou chasing you done? It is great to see

:31:09. > :31:13.and what I brilliant wafers Team GB to finish this meet. Gold in the

:31:14. > :31:20.women's medley relay and then gold in the men's medley relay. Quite

:31:21. > :31:23.brilliant. Just waiting for disqualification, team Italy has

:31:24. > :31:24.been disqualified. Fascinating. They went in the hunt for the medals,

:31:25. > :31:50.though. Confirmation of the results. What a way to pick end the week, for

:31:51. > :31:54.the last 50 metres of that race. I think they were worried Duncan Scott

:31:55. > :32:07.was going to get track down by Franz Mamadou Sakho the end. -- Florent

:32:08. > :32:10.Manaudou. It was just a good all-round relay swim. We've talked

:32:11. > :32:16.all day about the home crowd and how they are loving it. Look at them

:32:17. > :32:19.throwing things up into the crowd and white shouldn't they show off a

:32:20. > :32:28.bit, this is exactly what they need going into a massive Olympics.

:32:29. > :32:32.Definitely. James Guy split very similar to what he did in the World

:32:33. > :32:39.Championships last year when he was rested so he's obviously on great

:32:40. > :32:46.form for the 100 metre butterfly. A great confidence booster them. Well

:32:47. > :32:52.done guys, anything the girls can do, the guys can do to. Absolutely,

:32:53. > :32:58.when you see GB win by that much it gives you that bit extra. We didn't

:32:59. > :33:05.necessarily need that but we felt that going into it, buzzing. Best

:33:06. > :33:08.time of the weekly you. These boys bring out the best in me,

:33:09. > :33:13.consistency throughout the week and to finish on a high like that, I'm

:33:14. > :33:18.ecstatic. A great time to finish off with, do you know your confidence is

:33:19. > :33:22.contagious? I'm not sure. This guy has got a lot of confidence as well.

:33:23. > :33:27.It's good to see Duncan coming through, hopefully we will be a real

:33:28. > :33:33.weapon at Rio and hopefully we can rest up and work on those areas

:33:34. > :33:36.where we can improve. Even if we go to Rio and don't do well, I will

:33:37. > :33:43.remember this team to the rest of my life. A topsy-turvy weekly you but a

:33:44. > :33:54.great way to finish. And the was putting you down on your fly and you

:33:55. > :33:59.put on in his place. I felt it wasn't very good but to get that

:34:00. > :34:07.time and it was a great swim for these guys, they came out on top. A

:34:08. > :34:14.very hairy James Guy, that's coming off. None of us have shaved hair. We

:34:15. > :34:19.can only get faster. Duncan a fantastic leg from you, a lot of

:34:20. > :34:28.pressure because they were chasing you down. Close. It wasn't close in

:34:29. > :34:36.the end. I couldn't throw it away, when the boys give you a lead like

:34:37. > :34:40.that. These three boys have been Commonwealth champions. I knew I was

:34:41. > :34:44.in a good group. We went out there and it was a great effort by

:34:45. > :34:50.everyone. It's been a super week, get a great 11 weeks in and I will

:34:51. > :34:53.see you soon. They are the four boys we will probably see in that event

:34:54. > :34:59.at the Olympics. How exciting is that? Very, about the girls and the

:35:00. > :35:05.guys. Both are Olympic events unlike the mixed medley relay. Kathleen

:35:06. > :35:10.isn't going to Rio but hopefully Georgia Davies can put in a good

:35:11. > :35:16.performance of the goals. For the men, that should be the four in Rio.

:35:17. > :35:21.Its confidence. We said about confidence across the team. They

:35:22. > :35:28.will feed off these guys. There's a lot of time between now and Rio. The

:35:29. > :35:33.have 21 champions in the same relay, that is strength. We have an add

:35:34. > :35:39.strength and depth like that, ever. That's just amazing. To end on a

:35:40. > :35:42.high, to book end on the right note is something they will relive,

:35:43. > :35:46.celebrate and make the most of and that's exactly what we are going to

:35:47. > :35:53.do now. It's been a great week the British swimming. The crowd have

:35:54. > :36:01.been other proud, here's why. -- loud and proud.

:36:02. > :36:07.It was very close indeed, Ben Proud may have got a bronze medal.

:36:08. > :36:14.Britain's first middle of day two. Really working hard, come on Fran.

:36:15. > :36:19.Bronze has gone to Fran Halsall but a very good time indeed. It's going

:36:20. > :36:26.to be a wonderful gold medal to Adam Peaty. It's one of the best races

:36:27. > :36:30.I've ever had in terms of competition and GB support. It's

:36:31. > :36:42.great. Great Britain are going to win a second gold medal and its gold

:36:43. > :36:47.to Team GB in the 100 medley relay. I've got to say that's a very

:36:48. > :36:58.impressive bronze for James Guy. I'm over the moon with that one. What a

:36:59. > :37:05.brilliant swim. Took the bronze. It looks like it's going to be gold,

:37:06. > :37:18.the silver medal to Jazz Carlin of Great Britain. A bronze Hannah

:37:19. > :37:19.Miley. Gold medal, Great Britain! What a brilliant swim. Fabulous

:37:20. > :37:28.swim. To go away with What a brilliant swim. Fabulous

:37:29. > :37:29.here, I never thought that would happen here. I'm absolutely

:37:30. > :37:36.delighted. happen here. I'm absolutely

:37:37. > :37:43.performance in lane five from the 18-year-old from Warrington,

:37:44. > :37:47.Kathleen Dawson has a bronze medal. Fran Halsall is the European

:37:48. > :37:54.champion in the 50 metres backstroke, its gold and bronze to

:37:55. > :38:04.Great Britain. It's exciting. It's emotional. Adam Peaty wins gold in

:38:05. > :38:12.the 50. A wonderful bronze for Ross Murdoch of Great Britain. The silver

:38:13. > :38:23.has gone to Fran Halsall. What a quick swim.

:38:24. > :38:35.A great silver medal for Jazz Carlin of Great Britain.

:38:36. > :38:39.Earlier there was a gold for the women in the

:38:40. > :38:44.Earlier there was a gold for the Fran Halsall, Siobhan-Marie

:38:45. > :38:46.O'Connor, Kathleen Dawson and Chloe Totten will be on the podium very

:38:47. > :38:50.shortly. And what the girls can Totten will be on the podium very

:38:51. > :39:05.the boys can do, Adam Peaty, Duncan Scott, Chris Walker-Hebborn.

:39:06. > :39:09.the boys can do, Adam Peaty, Duncan look at the medal table on the final

:39:10. > :39:16.day, this site will make Phil Berna is very happy.

:39:17. > :39:23.I was looking at the medal table excavation muck what do

:39:24. > :39:30.What do you make of that? You're guys and girls are in hard training,

:39:31. > :39:33.this is the second test ever performance by British swimmers at a

:39:34. > :39:43.European Championships, are you happy with this? I tossed the team

:39:44. > :39:49.with being on the front foot, don't use like of preparation as an

:39:50. > :39:56.excuse. The second one was to fight everything. The third one was to

:39:57. > :40:00.swim tactically good races. Most of them paste the race as well. Which

:40:01. > :40:04.is important if you are not fully prepared. The most important thing

:40:05. > :40:10.is we learn from it. You will get one or two blips but overall I'm a

:40:11. > :40:13.happy man. Is there anything you are thinking our areas of concern? I

:40:14. > :40:18.don't know about areas of concern because you have to put this

:40:19. > :40:23.competition in context. Our trials were a few weeks ago that these guys

:40:24. > :40:26.probably rested two to three weeks into the trials, then they had a

:40:27. > :40:32.week at the trials and then there was a three-week gap. And then a

:40:33. > :40:36.week at this competition. You can't do everything. If we had tried to do

:40:37. > :40:40.both meets well we would have had seven or eight weeks of compromised

:40:41. > :40:45.training. You can't do that. The focus always with what a great

:40:46. > :40:48.opportunity to swim in front of a home crowd, what a great opportunity

:40:49. > :40:52.to race hard against some of the best swimmers in the world, whatever

:40:53. > :40:57.we get will take on the chin. With that in mind, I'm a happy man. Given

:40:58. > :41:02.that your guys are in hard training and some of them having come here to

:41:03. > :41:05.post their quickest times, they have still been some impressive

:41:06. > :41:10.performances, Kathleen Dawson, Ross Murdoch, is there anything you would

:41:11. > :41:17.consider changing this close to the Olympics? In terms of who will do

:41:18. > :41:23.what? No, we have a definite plan up to Rio. We've got a night-time

:41:24. > :41:28.preparation camp because the finals will start at 10pm until midnight,

:41:29. > :41:35.you've got eight days of that. Going to be getting back to the village at

:41:36. > :41:39.2am. We'll handle it. We've got to try this at least once. We've done

:41:40. > :41:46.it before, in December in Rio. Most of this team have to compete and the

:41:47. > :41:51.entire Olympic team will swim in June in Barcelona. And then I'm

:41:52. > :41:54.leaving the last competition more less up to them. They've got to go

:41:55. > :42:00.at the end of June the beginning of July. Bill, congratulations on a

:42:01. > :42:03.brilliant week. Phenomenal performance by British swimmers.

:42:04. > :42:10.Mark and Becky, thank you for your company. It's been like herding cats

:42:11. > :42:14.at times! LAUGHTER Andy Jamieson and Karen Pickering, you have guided us

:42:15. > :42:21.through with some phenomenal words and slogans. Sharron Davies always

:42:22. > :42:25.pouncing on our swimmers in victory and in defeat. The next time we see

:42:26. > :42:26.will be at the Rio Olympics when hopefully we'll have plenty to

:42:27. > :42:35.celebrate. Goodbye.
