:00:34. > :00:39.Hello and welcome to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park. We are here

:00:40. > :00:42.for the fourth day of swimming from the European Championships,

:00:43. > :00:47.featuring some of the best swimmers in the world. Stay tuned because,

:00:48. > :00:52.tonight, British swimmers could pick up six medals. During the Brits

:00:53. > :00:55.alongside me, Rebecca Adlington and Mark Foster. You were cheering to

:00:56. > :01:03.the theme song. You love it! There is what is coming up later. Jazz

:01:04. > :01:10.Carling is hoping to defend her European title. We have got two

:01:11. > :01:15.chances of medals in the 200 metres individual medal, Hannah and

:01:16. > :01:19.Siobhan. Can Ross Murdoch at European gold to his Commonwealth

:01:20. > :01:25.title? And Kathleen Dawson is swimming so quickly. She is in the

:01:26. > :01:30.100 metres extra final. First this evening, we have got the final of

:01:31. > :01:35.the 800 metres freestyle. We got a lady who knows a locked alongside

:01:36. > :01:43.that. Becky as an Olympic gold in that event and she is still European

:01:44. > :01:44.record holder. I am begging you up. You are the European and

:01:45. > :01:50.Commonwealth one. Yes You are the European and

:01:51. > :01:53.Carling, going for gold tonight. She hasn't been able to make the most of

:01:54. > :02:03.it because you miss out on London 2012. To miss at four years ago was

:02:04. > :02:08.tough. Me, my family and everyone throughout my career. A home

:02:09. > :02:13.Olympics as well. That only comes round once a really. I nearly walked

:02:14. > :02:18.away from the sport but I gave it another shot and I thought I would

:02:19. > :02:22.throw everything at it. To come at the other side, it has been four

:02:23. > :02:32.ways of worry and heartache but, to finally make that team was sort of a

:02:33. > :02:37.relief. How has being here, moving your training base helped? It is

:02:38. > :02:42.always different when you move to a programme. You never know how you

:02:43. > :02:45.will adapt, whether it will take a few months. Last year, I didn't have

:02:46. > :02:49.the biggest expectations, but working with my coach I knew we

:02:50. > :02:53.would put together a great programme. We have got an

:02:54. > :02:58.unbreakable bond now and I know, going into Rio, that will be so

:02:59. > :03:02.important. We will need each other. I have got so much respect and trust

:03:03. > :03:07.for him. We will work together so hard to make it a success. It will

:03:08. > :03:11.be my first Olympics. That is exciting. I will be going to a

:03:12. > :03:16.competition I have never been to before. I have got a drive to do

:03:17. > :03:23.really well in training. Everybody has got goals but I will make sure I

:03:24. > :03:27.do everything I can. The bronze goes to Jaz Carlin! Finally she has a

:03:28. > :03:34.medal at the World Championships. What would an Olympic medal mean?

:03:35. > :03:37.Everything, just being at the Olympics is incredible. It only

:03:38. > :03:42.comes round every four years. To be on that podium with the GB flag is

:03:43. > :03:45.an incredible honour. Wearing the kit is an amazing feeling,

:03:46. > :03:50.representing your country, but you want to be on that podium, fighting

:03:51. > :03:56.for a medal. I can't wait to put everything into training and to race

:03:57. > :04:01.in Rio. Before we came on air, the 800 metres freestyle got underway.

:04:02. > :04:09.Jaz Carlin, defending her title, goes in second fastest. Boglarka

:04:10. > :04:14.Kapas takes lane five. Keep an eye on Sharon Van Rouwendaal. She got a

:04:15. > :04:25.silver medal at the European and world open water championships.

:04:26. > :04:30.Boglarka Kapas starting to make a move. Jaz Carlin can't let her get

:04:31. > :04:35.too much further ahead. You don't want it to come down to a sprint

:04:36. > :04:38.finish. With the 800 metres freestyle, you never quite know how

:04:39. > :04:44.the race will pan out. You can't prepare. Becky, you have had races

:04:45. > :04:47.where you have been out on your own but also ones where you have known

:04:48. > :04:51.it will come to a sprint finish. When it is unfolding and you are

:04:52. > :04:56.feeling, goodness, I will have to sprint finish, that must be a

:04:57. > :05:00.shocker. It is, but it is nice if you know you have got something

:05:01. > :05:06.left. Jaz Carlin will be hurting. She will struggle. She doesn't have

:05:07. > :05:11.easy speed from being rested and refreshed. She will be struggling

:05:12. > :05:16.but she needs to hang on. Everybody swims 800 different. I used to break

:05:17. > :05:21.it down, placing it as 200 metres, 400 metres and then a 200 metres. It

:05:22. > :05:26.helps to break the distance down. She looks like she is following a

:05:27. > :05:33.bit far behind. Hopefully she hasn't given herself too much to do at the

:05:34. > :05:37.end. Certainly, Kapas is picked up the pace and started to make a move

:05:38. > :05:44.at the 200 metres turn. This will be the 400 metres turn. It lengths to

:05:45. > :05:48.go in this final of the women's 800 metres freestyle. Jaz Carlin is

:05:49. > :05:53.moved into second place and she is moving to the field nicely. She

:05:54. > :05:58.needs to stay in contention with Kapas, the leading Hungarian. Maria

:05:59. > :06:04.Vilas Vidal Spain just falling off the pace it. Worrying that Boglarka

:06:05. > :06:12.Kapas as big a metre and a half more off Jaz Carlin in that last 100. She

:06:13. > :06:15.has got a really nice leg kick. Jaz Carlin has got a slower rate of leg

:06:16. > :06:21.kick and she is mainly using her arms. Boglarka Kapas isn't leaving

:06:22. > :06:26.anything. She is going forward on day one. That is what you have to

:06:27. > :06:31.do, especially when you are facing people who are so far ahead. To

:06:32. > :06:35.begin with a shout, because Katie will get gold, it is pretty much

:06:36. > :06:40.certain, so everybody is battling for the silver bronze medals. Do you

:06:41. > :06:44.think they will go into it thinking about that, the gold medal, don't

:06:45. > :06:51.worry about what she is doing, this will be a race for the minor medals?

:06:52. > :06:56.I think you have to. Even if she is having a bad day, that is somebody

:06:57. > :07:02.else's amazing day. The league is now 2.2 seconds tween hungry's

:07:03. > :07:09.Boglarka Kapas and the swimmer in second position, Great Britain's Jaz

:07:10. > :07:13.Carlin. Unless she really picked something up here, she will lose

:07:14. > :07:19.this title. She is in heavy training and her main focus will be on Rio.

:07:20. > :07:26.This is a very good training swim. A practice in process. This is all

:07:27. > :07:31.about training. It is training the recovery afterwards. It is going

:07:32. > :07:34.through the motions, putting the suit on, warm-ups, everything like

:07:35. > :07:40.that you are training for, not just the race. Jaz Carlin didn't have an

:07:41. > :07:43.amazing 800 at the Olympic trials a month ago so for her it's a great

:07:44. > :07:51.opportunity to get another one under her belt. 100 metres to go. Two

:07:52. > :07:55.lengths to go in the final of this 800 metres freestyle European

:07:56. > :08:11.Championships. Bachacata as of an is first. -- Boglarka Kapas of hungry

:08:12. > :08:16.macro is first. Tjasa Oder of Slovenia is trying to eat into

:08:17. > :08:20.silver medal position. Comfortable from the 300-metre mark, Boglarka

:08:21. > :08:26.Kapas. She has swung it so well. Every time she has needed an extra

:08:27. > :08:32.gear, she's been able to find something to keep Jaz Carlin at bay.

:08:33. > :08:36.Jaz Carlin really digging deep, very proud of the effort. Her eyes will

:08:37. > :08:41.be on Rio. It's a superb practice for the big one in the summer. .

:08:42. > :08:44.be on Rio. It's a superb practice Bachacata as clearly has got the

:08:45. > :08:49.gold but they are really attacking Jaz Carlin now. They may be three

:08:50. > :08:55.metres behind. It will be gold to Boglarka Kapas of Hungary. Boglarka

:08:56. > :09:00.Kapas of Hungary, with silver medal to Jaz Carlin of Great Britain and

:09:01. > :09:09.the bronze to Tjasa Oder of Slovenia. Well, it was a tough race.

:09:10. > :09:16.A little bit cat and mouse for 300 metres and then Boglarka Kapas

:09:17. > :09:22.really started moving. She took off. Jaz Carlin really couldn't go with

:09:23. > :09:26.her. No, and, putting it in perspective, that is a season's

:09:27. > :09:31.best, four seconds quicker than at the trials. Boglarka Kapas really

:09:32. > :09:38.had all the answers to step up she needed to. Jaz Carlin really fought

:09:39. > :09:39.had all the answers to step up she back in those closing stages, giving

:09:40. > :09:59.it absolutely everything. A good, solid, in season swim for

:10:00. > :10:05.Jaz Carlin. Much quicker than trials and moving

:10:06. > :10:10.in the right direction. Definitely. It is all about seeing what happens.

:10:11. > :10:15.Today, it was silver, but I've got to take that. Looking forward to the

:10:16. > :10:21.400 on Sunday and the 400 by two later. How do you prepare and put

:10:22. > :10:29.this into your programme leading up to Rio? When you have got a home

:10:30. > :10:32.crowd in London, you want to be at your best. We are all in different

:10:33. > :10:39.places in training but we came here to rate tough, to train hard and to

:10:40. > :10:41.see what we get. -- to race tough. You have been doing more work in the

:10:42. > :10:47.gym, You have been doing more work in the

:10:48. > :10:52.400. Do you think that is helping the 800? For me, the 800 has been a

:10:53. > :10:55.bit up and down because I had an injury months back so my training

:10:56. > :11:01.was interrupted. I missed a few weeks. It's coming down and I want

:11:02. > :11:09.to keep it going for Rio. I will keep on trading. See you later. --

:11:10. > :11:13.training. Huge congratulations to Jaz Carlin.

:11:14. > :11:18.We can see her picking up her silver medal. How impressed were you guys

:11:19. > :11:25.with that swim? She is in hard training, don't forget. She is. In

:11:26. > :11:29.the Olympic trials, she is one four seconds slower than that so she will

:11:30. > :11:37.be really pleased with delight. That's pretty good in hard training.

:11:38. > :11:42.The contrary in national anthem is going for the winner of that one,

:11:43. > :11:45.Boglarka Kapas. Jaz Carlin said in that interview with Sharon that it's

:11:46. > :11:50.difficult because she had an injury earlier in the year. Mentally, that

:11:51. > :11:55.must give you a knock. Also, when you can't swim and her arm is it

:11:56. > :11:59.they -- when you can't see it and her arm isn't in a sling, you can't

:12:00. > :12:04.see anything wrong. We didn't see what was going on six months ago,

:12:05. > :12:07.last month, so to come in here with all of the focus being on Rio,

:12:08. > :12:13.coming from the trials, when it wasn't great, but I feel like we

:12:14. > :12:20.should be standing up! If I stand up, I go off-screen! I am stuck to

:12:21. > :12:26.this chair with all of the cables! We talked a lot about Jaz Carlin and

:12:27. > :12:29.the fact she missed out on swimming in this pool in front of a home

:12:30. > :12:35.crowd. Is that one of those things that you look back on? We couldn't

:12:36. > :12:40.stand up for the national anthem, but we will at least acknowledge the

:12:41. > :12:45.success of Boglarka Kapas. We make a lot of the fact that she missed out

:12:46. > :12:50.on swimming in this pool. Does it give her extra motivation going

:12:51. > :12:55.forward? You forget that Jaz Carlin hasn't been to an Olympics. I

:12:56. > :12:59.remember being on the team with her in 2009. It is crazy she hasn't been

:13:00. > :13:05.to the Olympics. For her, Rio means so much to her. She didn't have a

:13:06. > :13:10.successful Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She got to experience the

:13:11. > :13:14.home crowd. The crowd was so loud tonight, cheering her on the whole

:13:15. > :13:21.way. So many points before that race, coming in here, getting

:13:22. > :13:25.silver, when you watch her swim, she just improves their turns by a tiny

:13:26. > :13:29.bit, which I think she can with some extra strength work in the gym, that

:13:30. > :13:35.will make a second's different and that will make the difference come

:13:36. > :13:41.Rio. In the nicest possible way, you want your peers to achieve their

:13:42. > :13:46.best, so what is going wrong and right? I can't slack off too much

:13:47. > :13:53.because I had the same issue! My Terns were horrific. You have so

:13:54. > :13:58.many turns in the race. Jaz Carlin has a slow rotation, no underwater

:13:59. > :14:01.off the wall. It is one of those difficult things when her swimming

:14:02. > :14:07.is very good but all of her competitors take a second offer

:14:08. > :14:15.every time she turns. It is something simple. Over 16 lengths,

:14:16. > :14:20.that builds. We spent a lot of time, 20 hours a week, swimming up and

:14:21. > :14:28.down the pool. One simple thing... It's harder than it seems! A bit of

:14:29. > :14:33.streamlining, jumping. It's like trying to change the way you walk.

:14:34. > :14:36.Trying to change it in your 20s, when you've done it for years,

:14:37. > :14:41.that's really hard. As soon as you are under pressure, and you are

:14:42. > :14:46.tired, you revert back to the old way. So close to the Olympics, you

:14:47. > :14:51.don't want to start taking it apart. I think she will be working on her

:14:52. > :14:57.turns, trying to get back to full fitness. Jaz Carlin has had a great

:14:58. > :15:02.400. She has consistently been better on that event. It is like a

:15:03. > :15:08.whole focus is on this one event. It is a fight for that silver and

:15:09. > :15:17.bronze medal come Rio. We will see her later in the relay.

:15:18. > :15:29.Let us talk about Ross Murdoch. They are having a fight of there. He

:15:30. > :15:33.doesn't know how to do a turn. It is like a family up here. Ross Murdoch

:15:34. > :15:38.going in the final of the 200 metres rest stroke, he has 20 to prove in a

:15:39. > :15:50.big year for him, plenty to kick off about.

:15:51. > :15:54.The final of the men's 200 metres Ross Murdoch is the fastest

:15:55. > :16:20.qualifier. Lane seven, they are introducing the

:16:21. > :16:27.swimmers to the crowd. Slowest to the fastest sixth fastest in his

:16:28. > :16:34.final, he is having a good meet here. The Eric Person of Sweden goes

:16:35. > :16:38.in lane two. Great Britain have a fantastic history in this race,

:16:39. > :16:47.David Wilkie winning the European Championship title back in 1974, 42

:16:48. > :16:54.years ago. Adrian Moorhouse denies 83, Nick Gillingham winning it three

:16:55. > :16:59.times. This is the third fastest qualifier and then the big boys in

:17:00. > :17:09.five, the world champion and next to him will be Ross Murdoch of Great

:17:10. > :17:18.Britain. Germany have not brought a big squad with them but they have

:17:19. > :17:21.quality over quantity. It must be lovely to walk out to a reception

:17:22. > :17:30.like that. He was a bit like Darth Vader. Interesting to see the

:17:31. > :17:38.goggles strap under the hat, he looks like a bullet fascinating he

:17:39. > :17:51.didn't make the British Olympic team in the 200 metres breaststroke, you

:17:52. > :17:55.think of him winning that gold, in the last two years he has been

:17:56. > :18:06.delivering on the hundred but has looked in good form here. This will

:18:07. > :18:09.be a fascinating race, Ross Murdoch the last to take off his

:18:10. > :18:12.be a fascinating race, Ross Murdoch Slapping his chest and heightening

:18:13. > :18:18.his senses and making sure he is right on top of his game behind the

:18:19. > :18:22.blocks. The he has to take on the fastest man in the world, the world

:18:23. > :18:29.champion, Marco breaststroke of Germany in lane five. Breaststroke

:18:30. > :18:49.right bind him there. Four links of ten two, the final of

:18:50. > :18:50.the 200 metres in this European Championship and Ross Murdoch is

:18:51. > :18:53.right in Championship and Ross Murdoch is

:18:54. > :18:57.hat. Lovely slow stroke and next to Championship and Ross Murdoch is

:18:58. > :19:00.him the world champion, Marco Championship and Ross Murdoch is

:19:01. > :19:05.of Germany. The difference in stature of the swimmers from

:19:06. > :19:10.of Germany. The difference in than the likes of Koch and

:19:11. > :19:13.Matterson. But he is so efficient, that is why you think of

:19:14. > :19:17.Matterson. But he is so efficient, better over 200 but he is the

:19:18. > :19:21.silver-medallist this week over the 100 breaststroke. Some of the

:19:22. > :19:25.sprinters, not 100 breaststroke. Some of the

:19:26. > :19:28.them try to take this race on. He was fifth in the 100, he has speed

:19:29. > :19:33.but he will not have the closing stamina and strength of some of the

:19:34. > :19:36.other swimmers. The long gliding stroke of the

:19:37. > :19:39.other swimmers. The long gliding Murdoch in the centre. Going fast

:19:40. > :19:46.other swimmers. The long gliding down the first 100, matching

:19:47. > :19:52.Matterson of Finland. Very effective, Murdoch just 34

:19:53. > :19:56.hundredths of a second behind. A decent turn and probably into the

:19:57. > :20:00.hundredths of a second behind. A lead. This is where Ross Murdoch

:20:01. > :20:04.comes into his own. So strong in the second half of his race. So flat in

:20:05. > :20:09.the water, we talked all week second half of his race. So flat in

:20:10. > :20:15.how they swim so much more flat now and we have a similar theory for the

:20:16. > :20:19.breaststroke but it is unusual. Ross Murdoch just starting to speed away,

:20:20. > :20:24.this is where he is at his most dangerous and he has turned ahead.

:20:25. > :20:31.Is it possible for Koch to find anything to get back on terms? This

:20:32. > :20:34.is Ross Murdoch's moment. The last 50 of this 200. The time is quite

:20:35. > :20:38.extraordinary, let us pick up because they are right on European

:20:39. > :20:43.record pace and Ross Murdoch of Great Britain is going really well

:20:44. > :20:46.but coming through is Marco Dem Finn of Germany. Breaststroke coming back

:20:47. > :20:53.in the Black cap of Germany, it will be tight and he really is coming

:20:54. > :20:59.back, gold-medal, Great Britain. Ross Murdoch, what a brilliant swim.

:21:00. > :21:10.Fabulous swim, not sure he knows yet. We do. What a fabulous first

:21:11. > :21:15.75, 100 metres, then he really took it on the third 50 metres and just

:21:16. > :21:20.held on at the end. European Championship gold, now he knows.

:21:21. > :21:28.Brilliant, gold for Murdoch, silver for Koch and bronze for Italy.

:21:29. > :21:34.STUDIO: You can see what it means to Ross Murdoch to get that European

:21:35. > :21:37.title. Almost all the would get caught in the closing stages, his

:21:38. > :21:46.stroke got faster and didn't seem to be going forward. At the touch, so

:21:47. > :21:52.close. Seven hundredths of a second, Miles. LAUGHTER

:21:53. > :21:57.Who cares, in two weeks' time nobody will know the difference. Very

:21:58. > :21:59.clearly, Great Britain, new champion of the 200 metres breaststroke is

:22:00. > :22:13.Ross Murdoch. European champion. STUDIO: That was absolutely

:22:14. > :22:18.incredible, you were out of your seats. That was an impressive swim.

:22:19. > :22:22.We set it up by saying he has a point to prove because he burst onto

:22:23. > :22:27.the scene at the Commonwealth Games. Since then, it has been difficult

:22:28. > :22:33.and this season in particular, how impressed were you? He seemed

:22:34. > :22:38.shocked by that, almost a second quicker than he did at the Olympic

:22:39. > :22:43.trials. He came third at the Olympic trials and he has just won the

:22:44. > :22:47.European Championship. That is absolutely incredible. Let us see

:22:48. > :22:52.how shocked he was. Many congratulations, I haven't seen a

:22:53. > :22:57.celebration as good as that since the Commonwealth Games? I know. It

:22:58. > :23:04.has been a long time coming, that swim. To be that quick and come away

:23:05. > :23:10.with a gold medal I never thought that would happen here, I am

:23:11. > :23:13.delighted. He was coming up on you, could you feel him? I could see the

:23:14. > :23:18.splash of his hands out of the corner of my goggles and I knew I

:23:19. > :23:22.had to keep my length. That is what we have been talking about, that is

:23:23. > :23:26.why I am so fast, not because I am big and powerful but by and

:23:27. > :23:34.streamlined. I had to stay disciplined and got to the wall

:23:35. > :23:37.first. Two British ten two is in such an amazing place but so

:23:38. > :23:42.difficult for selection as a result, you won't be able to go to the

:23:43. > :23:49.Olympics for this event? I had a few Demons my bag from a couple of weeks

:23:50. > :23:54.ago at the trials. But everyone who has supported me, my family, I had a

:23:55. > :23:59.bad week a few weeks ago so I wanted to prove to them that it is

:24:00. > :24:08.happening and we are on course for the next cycle. Family is the most

:24:09. > :24:14.important thing to people, and coaches. I have never looked back,

:24:15. > :24:18.we get on like a house on fire, you cannot get any way without your

:24:19. > :24:24.family's support. They are all here as well. Won then they had a great

:24:25. > :24:28.show, well done. Thank you very much. Absolutely lovely, he

:24:29. > :24:33.acknowledges his family, to get to the top in this sport, you cannot do

:24:34. > :24:41.it by yourself. When he gets up to the pool at 5am, he was not driving

:24:42. > :24:45.himself? Know. A lot of people have got him there. Those who have made

:24:46. > :24:49.the biggest sacrifice is friends and family. From an early age, without

:24:50. > :24:54.your parents, you can't drive yourself and they have to get up at

:24:55. > :24:59.5:30am. When you look back and they have a days work and they get up at

:25:00. > :25:04.530 to take their child to a pool and sacrifice weekends and the other

:25:05. > :25:08.bits and pieces. It is a huge thing and then the coach is a massive

:25:09. > :25:11.thing. If you don't like training, you can have a great athlete with

:25:12. > :25:15.the wrong coach and they don't perform and that makes a huge

:25:16. > :25:20.difference. They talked about the depth of the field in British two

:25:21. > :25:24.but all of the families were him, Adam Peaty, his mother was going

:25:25. > :25:30.crackers. Earlier we had the final of the women's 200 metres individual

:25:31. > :25:41.medley, the world champion was in the middle and we had Hannah Miley

:25:42. > :25:50.and Siobhan O'Connor. COMMENTATOR: What a great swim that is. Her first

:25:51. > :25:55.major medal. Look at this, she is miles ahead. What a week she has

:25:56. > :26:03.had, finally winning Commonwealth gold. Siobhan Marie O'Connor held on

:26:04. > :26:15.for the bronze. Look what it means, wonderful. You could say we have her

:26:16. > :26:18.surrounded them with the great Hosszu going in lane number four,

:26:19. > :26:24.right next to her in five is Siobhan Marie O'Connor of Great Britain and

:26:25. > :26:31.Hannah Miley of also of Great Britain and Scotland in lane three.

:26:32. > :26:38.50 metres butterfly, 50 metres backstroke, 50 metres breaststroke

:26:39. > :26:42.and 50 metres freestyle. The sublime Hosszu of Hungary in lane four.

:26:43. > :26:47.Siobhan Marie O'Connor very good at butterfly. She has to make the most

:26:48. > :26:52.of it. She knows that if she has any chance of beating Hosszu, she has to

:26:53. > :26:56.be at the with her after the breaststroke leg. She will do

:26:57. > :27:02.everything she can on this strongest stroke, fly and freestyle. She needs

:27:03. > :27:07.to be in the race and a great start by Siobhan Marie O'Connor, a

:27:08. > :27:08.veteran, only 20 but a veteran of an Olympic Games already. That will be

:27:09. > :27:14.invaluable when she competes going there hoping for a medal. That

:27:15. > :27:18.experience will count for so much. going there hoping for a medal. That

:27:19. > :27:22.She is very going there hoping for a medal. That

:27:23. > :27:26.extreme the good at breaststroke. Siobhan Marie O'Connor, she will

:27:27. > :27:33.need to be. Hosszu has a metre and a half lead going to the halfway mark.

:27:34. > :27:37.It is 1.33 seconds, the gap. I have to say it is a slightly smaller gap

:27:38. > :27:44.than I thought it might be. Hosszu first, oh, second and Hannah Miley

:27:45. > :27:51.is in a bad fifth or sixth but she has a great breaststroke at the

:27:52. > :27:56.bottom of that shot. Shoe always works the breaststroke, the 400

:27:57. > :28:00.medley is her specialist event. The 50 goes so quickly, the

:28:01. > :28:02.medley is her specialist event. The Siobhan Marie O'Connor doing

:28:03. > :28:08.everything she can to get back on terms. She needs to be as close as

:28:09. > :28:13.possible when they come to the wall because Hosszu is so tough in the

:28:14. > :28:17.closing stages. Superb competition from Siobhan Marie O'Connor, she is

:28:18. > :28:22.not giving in, she is digging deep and chasing her. Hosszu of Hungary

:28:23. > :28:27.looks like she will take four in a row. Siobhan Marie O'Connor won't

:28:28. > :28:28.let her go, that is great to see. They are miles ahead of the

:28:29. > :28:32.let her go, that is great to see. the field, Hannah Miley just about

:28:33. > :28:40.in bronze medal position at the moment. Hosszu of Hungary takes four

:28:41. > :28:44.straight 200-metre individual medley titles at the European

:28:45. > :28:47.Championships. Gold Hosszu, and fabulous for Great Britain, silver

:28:48. > :28:54.for Siobhan Marie O'Connor and bronze for Hannah Miley. Very good

:28:55. > :28:57.swimming in deed but no one anywhere near the Olympic champion, the world

:28:58. > :29:03.champion, the world record-holder but no Olympic medals yet. Hard to

:29:04. > :29:10.believe she does not have an Olympic medal in her locker. The gap didn't

:29:11. > :29:18.extend from breaststroke to freestyle. Confirmation of the

:29:19. > :29:23.result, her fourth in a row, Hosszu wins golf Hungary. Siobhan Marie

:29:24. > :29:29.O'Connor and Hannah Miley, very good swimming indeed. Congratulations

:29:30. > :29:33.O'Connor and Hannah Miley, very good everything at her and you are going

:29:34. > :29:42.after her on the breaststroke? Reid I am happy with that to be honest.

:29:43. > :29:49.Just trying to chase her down. I am re-happy with the time I went. It is

:29:50. > :29:52.great that we got two medals. Second and third, you are both

:29:53. > :29:57.multitalented but this and third, you are both

:29:58. > :30:07.that matters to you? This is the one that is my favourite event. Closest

:30:08. > :30:16.to my heart. We only have a few months until the 70 have to train

:30:17. > :30:21.hard and get a lot of confidence. We look forward to the next time you

:30:22. > :30:25.race. A few weeks away, something like that. We have you

:30:26. > :30:27.race. A few weeks away, something how pleased are you with that bonus

:30:28. > :30:42.medal? Isn't 200 to short the year? It is a broken because when do need

:30:43. > :30:46.some speed. I need to see where things are and it is good to

:30:47. > :30:49.identify the strokes that are good and those that aren't and be relaxed

:30:50. > :30:57.with it, to get a medal is an added bonus.

:30:58. > :31:03.Bronze for Hannah Miley. Her second medal of the week. And they silver

:31:04. > :31:09.Bronze for Hannah Miley. Her second the same event. Huge congratulations

:31:10. > :31:14.to Hannah Miley and should Vaughan picking up her silver. She got a

:31:15. > :31:19.medal earlier in the week. We will see her again a bit later. We heard

:31:20. > :31:24.Sharon talking about looking ahead to be Olympics but, given the

:31:25. > :31:27.tactics of this race as well, as a race it is tactical and the season

:31:28. > :31:36.as well, what will they take from tonight estimate it was great for

:31:37. > :31:44.Siobhan. It is her main event. For Hannah, it is the 400. This is the

:31:45. > :31:50.Siobhan. She wanted to scrape past that 208 mark, her personal best. It

:31:51. > :31:57.is about fighting for the medal. I think Siobhan deserves to be on the

:31:58. > :32:04.podium in Rio. Would you rather be Siobhan chasing or being the one

:32:05. > :32:10.being chased? She is like a metronome. She's got one place and

:32:11. > :32:16.she stayed at it. Siobhan is to concentrate on her own tactics. Time

:32:17. > :32:19.for the women's 100 metres backstroke finals. Georgia Davies

:32:20. > :32:25.and Kathleen Dawson swimming out of their skin this week.

:32:26. > :32:34.The finalists of the women's 100 metres backstroke, Georgia Davies,

:32:35. > :32:43.and Kathleen Dawson, second fastest qualifier for this final. Champions

:32:44. > :32:50.equal two years ago. What an opportunity this is. Dawson, 18

:32:51. > :32:54.years of age, in lane five. This is special for her. What a story it

:32:55. > :33:04.would be here, as part of the squad looking ahead to Tokyo. Not Rio.

:33:05. > :33:11.Georgia Davies at the bottom for Great Britain. Dawson of Great

:33:12. > :33:16.Britain in five. The favourites go in three and four, though, in this

:33:17. > :33:25.final of the women's 100 metres backstroke at the European

:33:26. > :33:33.Championships. A very good start in three from Katinka Hosszu. Going

:33:34. > :33:39.with her is Mie Nielsen of Denmark. Nielsen and Katinka Hosszu tied for

:33:40. > :33:44.this two years ago. Katinka Hosszu is always taking this race on. What

:33:45. > :33:51.form Mie Nielsen is in. A beautiful backstroke swimmer, head lovely and

:33:52. > :33:55.still. Georgia Davies having a fantastic swim closest to us. It

:33:56. > :34:00.would be great to see her dip under the one minute mark. When you are in

:34:01. > :34:05.heavy training, this is the bit which hurts. Georgia Davies still

:34:06. > :34:13.going well. This is great from her. In four, Mie Nielsen. Mie Nielsen

:34:14. > :34:16.gets the touch. It is gold to Mie Nielsen, silver to Katinka Hosszu,

:34:17. > :34:21.and what an unbelievable performance in lane five from the 18-year-old

:34:22. > :34:26.from Warrington, Kathleen Dawson, with a bronze medal in the women's

:34:27. > :34:36.100 metres backstroke. That time, 58.6. Another lifetime best.

:34:37. > :34:40.Extraordinary! Kathleen Dawson, take a bow! She timed that so well, she

:34:41. > :34:46.was coming back, she went past Georgia in the price -- in the last

:34:47. > :34:51.few strokes. She is beaming. Excellent start coming from Katinka

:34:52. > :35:00.Hosszu. Got away well, in the white hat. Mie Nielsen, head perfectly

:35:01. > :35:06.still. You can see at the top of the screen, Kathleen Dawson coming

:35:07. > :35:09.through. She got the bronze. I simply can't believe that. What an

:35:10. > :35:15.amazing performance from the 18-year-old! It is gold to Mie

:35:16. > :35:22.Nielsen of Denmark. A new championship record. Katinka Hosszu

:35:23. > :35:25.gets the silver. And Kathleen Dawson from Warrington get the bronze.

:35:26. > :35:31.Georgia Davies is fifth. Kathleen Dawson has been the

:35:32. > :35:34.surprise start of the championships. For our non-dedicated swimming

:35:35. > :35:39.viewers, put into context how impressive it is to go under a

:35:40. > :35:43.minute in that. Very impressive, the world record is 58.1 but not many

:35:44. > :35:49.people go under a minute. Three goals in British history have gone

:35:50. > :35:55.and a minute, and two years ago she was 10th at the Commonwealth Games.

:35:56. > :36:00.She has had a great job. Her stroke looked quite small, and she isn't

:36:01. > :36:03.very powerful, but her skills are unbelievable. Underwater,

:36:04. > :36:10.phenomenal. So much more to come from her. I think her interview will

:36:11. > :36:13.be pretty smiley! She isn't going to the Olympics so it means her

:36:14. > :36:18.preparation has been different coming into this. You can't compare

:36:19. > :36:26.her to Georgia. Both girls have swung really well. A huge PB for

:36:27. > :36:34.Kathleen full stop but Georgia, this is the one we will see her in Rio.

:36:35. > :36:37.I have got both girls with me and they are both smiling, but

:36:38. > :36:43.particularly Kathleen. Well done, did you think you could come here

:36:44. > :36:49.and win a medal? That is definitely not what I aimed for when I came

:36:50. > :36:55.here. I haven't stopped smiling since I broke the minute yesterday,

:36:56. > :37:00.but to come away with a medal... I am overwhelmed. Every time you get

:37:01. > :37:05.in you are knocking that time down. It's kind of unbelievable for me. I

:37:06. > :37:10.put in so much effort in the training that it had to happen. What

:37:11. > :37:17.everybody would realise is that you are not going to be at Grillo but

:37:18. > :37:24.you will be at Tokyo, won't you? -- you are not going to be at Rio.

:37:25. > :37:27.That's what I'm aiming for. Georgia, to go under a minute would be

:37:28. > :37:31.special, and that is in the middle of hard training. I've not been

:37:32. > :37:34.under a minute of hard training. I've not been

:37:35. > :37:40.when I am in the middle of training that was unexpected. I am pleased.

:37:41. > :37:44.It shows that my training is going in the right direction and hopefully

:37:45. > :37:51.I will be to drop it down and get a personal best in Rio.

:37:52. > :37:56.Well done, ladies. Talk us through how different it is for those girls

:37:57. > :37:59.coming into this. Georgia is hard training, Kathleen is coming here

:38:00. > :38:05.for the experience, and even their body language was different. In

:38:06. > :38:10.Kathleen pop -- Kathleen's position, I would have wrested back. Her first

:38:11. > :38:15.competition at a proper stage. She went to the Commonwealth Games that

:38:16. > :38:20.didn't make the finals. An amazing opportunity for her, whereas Georgia

:38:21. > :38:24.is, Rio, hard training. It is different. They are both really

:38:25. > :38:28.happy with that swim. We will see more of Kathleen. Especially

:38:29. > :38:29.happy with that swim. We will see she did a great swim of the 200

:38:30. > :38:37.back. I think she did a great swim of the 200

:38:38. > :38:42.backstroke swimmer as well as 100. For Kathleen, it's an

:38:43. > :38:42.backstroke swimmer as well as 100. get more experience on Danny Simpson

:38:43. > :38:47.-- on get more experience on Danny Simpson

:38:48. > :38:52.do it in front of your home crowd and friends, without pressure...

:38:53. > :38:56.There was no pressure on her coming into these championships. Georgia is

:38:57. > :39:02.Britain's number one and she is going to Rio, so she has got

:39:03. > :39:07.something to lose. So she is -- but she is British champion. Kathleen

:39:08. > :39:12.took her opportunity. That isn't the last of her. We have seen the

:39:13. > :39:17.amazing improvement she has made. If you look at the difference in the

:39:18. > :39:21.interviews, Georgia is so much more physically strong, and Kathleen has

:39:22. > :39:26.that to come. When she starts getting that right, that is the next

:39:27. > :39:32.part of training, we will see a lot more of her. 59.6 is quick. Kathleen

:39:33. > :39:40.might have been overwhelmed. We were overjoyed. Now let's cross over to

:39:41. > :39:48.the men's 200 metres butterfly, featuring the legend that is Laszlo

:39:49. > :39:51.Cseh. Just coming into the halfway turn in

:39:52. > :39:59.this final of the men's 200 metres butterfly. The world champion and

:40:00. > :40:01.European record-holder, Laszlo Cseh, head of the defending champion,

:40:02. > :40:08.Viktor Bromer Denmark in lane five. 53 point seven, I think he is trying

:40:09. > :40:16.new stuff. That is just suicide case! The 200 butterfly, so much is

:40:17. > :40:21.about your place. If you go out too fast, you pay for it exponentially

:40:22. > :40:26.in the closing stages. He will be starting to feel it. He is 30, for

:40:27. > :40:33.God 's sake! Nothing wrong with that! Laszlo Cseh, 1.6 seconds

:40:34. > :40:37.ahead. I am sure it will not be that at the end because the rest of the

:40:38. > :40:42.field will come at him. He was out in 53 for the first 100. The rest of

:40:43. > :40:54.the field are not catching as quickly as I thought. Is a European

:40:55. > :40:59.record, that record is 152.7. With ten weeks to Rio, a really good

:41:00. > :41:03.swim. Two tenths of a second outside his best time but, in heavy

:41:04. > :41:13.training, impressive. Look what it means to him. He went rested, fully

:41:14. > :41:18.rested, ready to go, 1:52.7. That was six years ago, eight years ago,

:41:19. > :41:23.excuse me, in Beijing. He has just gone to tenths slower in heavy

:41:24. > :41:29.training. Barely got the energy to celebrate that. He was just in a

:41:30. > :41:35.different class in that race. Great 50 butterfly. He has got years of

:41:36. > :41:42.background, 400 medley swimmer, in the bank. He was just on his own.

:41:43. > :41:46.That must have hurt. Well, I thought he was going to tie

:41:47. > :41:52.up. He certainly didn't. Laszlo Cseh, a brilliant swimmer of fly,

:41:53. > :41:57.gold medal for Hungary. A new championship record. Viktor Bromer

:41:58. > :42:02.get the silver. Tamas Kenderesi the bronze. Next up,

:42:03. > :42:08.the semifinals of the men's 100 metres freestyle. No Ben Prout but

:42:09. > :42:17.Duncan Scott goes in the first semifinal.

:42:18. > :42:24.Duncan Scott is in eighth, not a bad lane on the 100 metres freestyle.

:42:25. > :42:28.First semifinal of the men's 100 metres freestyle, Duncan Scott at

:42:29. > :42:32.the top, not a bad start, but a great start in three for the

:42:33. > :42:38.ex-world extra champion, Jeremy Stravius of France. Unusual to see a

:42:39. > :42:53.backstroke -- backstroke concentrating on freestyle. Superb

:42:54. > :43:01.first 50 will stop they will need to start to reel him in. This is

:43:02. > :43:04.fascinating. Kristian Gkolomeev of Greece really going well. He trained

:43:05. > :43:11.at Alabama. This is how the Americans go. The rest of the field

:43:12. > :43:17.really caught him up. Extraordinarily tight. Look at that.

:43:18. > :43:23.It really was close. Stjepanovic got Velimir the touch in 48.6 and then

:43:24. > :43:36.there was Glenn Surgeloose, 48.8, Jeremy Stravius, 48.8. Oh, my word!

:43:37. > :43:41.It was the sprinters at first. The 200 specialist coming through.

:43:42. > :43:50.Velimir Stjepanovic got caught up and turned his tables in the 100.

:43:51. > :43:55.Velimir Stjepanovic wins that first semifinal, and then the next five

:43:56. > :44:03.split by nine one hundredths of a second. Duncan Scott, equal second.

:44:04. > :44:08.Not a bad swim for him. This one is the second semifinal of the men's

:44:09. > :44:16.100 metres freestyle. They are going to come from everywhere here.

:44:17. > :44:20.Clement Mignon in number four. The starter held them quite a while. The

:44:21. > :44:25.second semifinal of the men's 100 metres freestyle. These boys are

:44:26. > :44:31.huge. The waves behind them is massive. Don't get caught in that.

:44:32. > :44:35.At the turn, they've got to go underneath and burst to the surface.

:44:36. > :44:41.You don't want to hit the wave that hit the wall after them. Luca Dotto

:44:42. > :44:49.has gone out very fast. Marius Radu in lane one as well. Sorry, lane

:44:50. > :44:51.eight at the far side. Now, maybe Sebastiaan Verschuren, the

:44:52. > :44:57.experienced distance specialist, will start to come through. Luca

:44:58. > :45:02.Dotto looking good. The Italians could well win the 1500, the 800,

:45:03. > :45:08.the 400 and possibly even this. Extraordinary. Great swim from Luca

:45:09. > :45:12.Dotto, look at that. 48.3 wins it. It's going to be so tight to make

:45:13. > :45:33.this final. It really is. They hate being held at the start. A

:45:34. > :45:42.good finish and a full is rich from Dotto. With the first semifinal

:45:43. > :45:49.being so fast, Dotto wins Italy. He will be through. As for the rest of

:45:50. > :45:54.them, it will be tight. It is going to be awfully tight, this one. Let

:45:55. > :46:15.us see the finalists. There was 86, 87, 88, 89. Goodness

:46:16. > :46:20.me. What a moment for this young man, Ross Murdoch of Great Britain.

:46:21. > :46:28.Gold in the men's 200 metres breaststroke. Really went for it at

:46:29. > :46:43.100 but did so well, beating the world champion of Germany. Fastest

:46:44. > :46:48.man in the world this year as well. The bronze medal for the man from

:46:49. > :46:53.Italy, in lane eight. He got a silver medal in the

:46:54. > :46:57.Italy, in lane eight. He got a in 200, what a meet he is having.

:46:58. > :47:00.Ten weeks' time, the Olympic Games, what can he do in the 100

:47:01. > :48:02.breaststroke? STUDIO: Huge congratulations to Ross

:48:03. > :48:04.Murdoch, his second medal of the week and he is European champion in

:48:05. > :48:08.Murdoch, his second medal of the the 200 metres breaststroke. He was

:48:09. > :48:13.surprised in the best possible way and we were surprised and the best

:48:14. > :48:17.possible way because he is in hard training. We all corrected him to

:48:18. > :48:21.get a medal but the time he got was seriously impressive, in hard

:48:22. > :48:26.training. It is nearly a second quicker than he went a month ago at

:48:27. > :48:31.the Olympic trials. It was so tight at the end, but did anyone expect it

:48:32. > :48:38.to be as dramatic as this in the last 25? At the Europeans

:48:39. > :48:42.to be as dramatic as this in the ago in Berlin, it was neck and neck.

:48:43. > :48:45.I think the surprise and not a surprise to us because we know what

:48:46. > :48:50.he is like a 200 metres, the surprise is that he is not doing the

:48:51. > :48:54.200 metres in Rio. On that sort of form, that is a great medal

:48:55. > :48:59.opportunity which he has not qualified for. In terms of the men

:49:00. > :49:06.and breaststroke, we have such a big field. It is a great problem to have

:49:07. > :49:12.but it does pose a challenge. It does. It is so tough because the

:49:13. > :49:18.Olympic trials are a reason. He came third and on paper it is what it is

:49:19. > :49:22.and it is fair. And then he puts in a performance like this and

:49:23. > :49:27.everybody wants him to swim it. It will be frustrating for him as well.

:49:28. > :49:31.He knows what he is capable of. He will be disappointed but he can

:49:32. > :49:37.concentrate on the 100. He has the back end for the 100 to get onto the

:49:38. > :49:41.podium. I think that is something we will talk about for the rest of the

:49:42. > :49:46.weekend and the weeks to come. I want us to come back and celebrate

:49:47. > :49:51.this moment because a swimmer's career, they don't go on for decades

:49:52. > :49:54.so you have to make the most of the opportunities. He spoke about how

:49:55. > :49:58.important it was for him for his family to be here and enjoy the

:49:59. > :50:04.moment and it means the world to him. It is a huge opportunity and he

:50:05. > :50:07.took it. If we had only two entries for that race is in the Olympic

:50:08. > :50:13.qualifiers, he wouldn't have done the race. The fact that the European

:50:14. > :50:19.Championships allow us to enter four people, he had a point to prove a

:50:20. > :50:24.above everybody to himself. He knows that in Scotland a few weeks ago he

:50:25. > :50:28.got it wrong. Whether him and his coach, the preparation, the race, I

:50:29. > :50:32.don't know. But he has proved now that he can do it. He will be gutted

:50:33. > :50:37.because he would like to be on the block in Rio but he has proved

:50:38. > :50:45.something. He is still 21 and he has a few years to come. I wrote world

:50:46. > :50:54.record down, he did not break it but I think he could. I'd like it. Two

:50:55. > :50:57.people in form, so it often and Molly Renshaw going in the

:50:58. > :51:06.semifinals of the women's 200 metres breaststroke. COMMENTATOR: Chloe

:51:07. > :51:11.Tutton the fastest to qualify for this semifinal. Wonderful bronze

:51:12. > :51:15.medal she got in the individual 100, next to the silver-medallist in that

:51:16. > :51:27.race, from Iceland. Seventh fastest qualifier in the

:51:28. > :51:38.semifinal, Fangio of Italy, Italians in one and two. Then, some

:51:39. > :51:44.interesting teenagers. The world junior champion from Turkey. 17

:51:45. > :51:49.years of age. In Britain's teenagers, 19-year-old Chloe Tutton,

:51:50. > :51:54.British record-holder and a wonderful bronze in the individual

:51:55. > :51:59.100. I am sure that will set her up for the rest of her life in

:52:00. > :52:04.breaststroke swimming. It really was a great performance. She is riding a

:52:05. > :52:07.wave at the moment, superb swim at the Olympic trials and she seems to

:52:08. > :52:13.be bouncing from race to race like teenagers can. Do you remember those

:52:14. > :52:17.days? It really is lots of fun where you get in and every time you swim

:52:18. > :52:24.it just goes right. Ericsson of Sweden in seven.

:52:25. > :52:32.I am delighted to say that the fastest women in the centre and the

:52:33. > :52:39.fastest after the heats, Chloe Tutton of Great Britain and the

:52:40. > :52:45.British record stands at 2:22.3 four. That might be a little bit out

:52:46. > :52:49.of her grasp, she is in heavy training so we don't expect her to

:52:50. > :52:56.go that quick but after the 100 final, who knows? One of those

:52:57. > :52:58.things, just unexpected. Not quite sure what she will be able to

:52:59. > :53:12.deliver tonight. Four lengths of breaststroke, the

:53:13. > :53:17.first semifinal of the 200 metres. Chloe Tutton of Great Britain right

:53:18. > :53:21.in the centre. She has a very good start down this first 25 and going

:53:22. > :53:28.with her, the silver-medallist from the 100, Luthersdottir of Iceland.

:53:29. > :53:32.You don't know what Chloe Tutton can do because she is improving so

:53:33. > :53:36.rapidly. Even though she will be in heavy training, you are not quite

:53:37. > :53:41.sure how her body will be responding to it because she is getting so much

:53:42. > :53:45.stronger. Bigger and physically stronger and mentally stronger with

:53:46. > :53:49.every race she is doing. You are never quite sure what she will be

:53:50. > :53:53.capable of, she looked superb in the heat is this morning up until the

:53:54. > :53:58.last turn. Which she messed up straight into the wall and lost

:53:59. > :54:05.momentum. Molly Renshaw was able to pull away from her but at that

:54:06. > :54:08.point, superb. The Welsh will be happy because at the Commonwealth

:54:09. > :54:15.Games, she will be representing Wales. At the moment, almost stroke.

:54:16. > :54:19.Four and five, Chloe Tutton of Great Britain closest to us on the

:54:20. > :54:25.right-hand side of the shot in the pink suit. Luthersdottir of Iceland

:54:26. > :54:34.is a 10th of a second behind Chloe Tutton. Looking good, starting to

:54:35. > :54:39.really power on the left-hand side there. Almost stroke for stroke in

:54:40. > :54:43.terms of the rate they are going at, long glide at the front of this

:54:44. > :54:48.joke, no need to rush it, they make the most of them are meant from the

:54:49. > :54:56.late kick. Chloe Tutton starting to turn it on now. She has taken a

:54:57. > :55:01.metre of the rest of the field. She got her turn right, she took six

:55:02. > :55:07.tenths of a second out of Luthersdottir. What has she got in

:55:08. > :55:13.the closing stages? When you are in heavy training, that is when it can

:55:14. > :55:18.start to hurt. In breaststroke, that stroke rate, going up and down and

:55:19. > :55:24.not forward. Just keep stretching. Closest to us is the swimmer from

:55:25. > :55:28.Turkey, the world junior champion in the 50, 100 and 200. She is having a

:55:29. > :55:33.go at Chloe Tutton but I think Chloe Tutton might hold on, if she times

:55:34. > :55:38.it right, yes she will. She wins the first semifinal and that is really

:55:39. > :55:41.impressive in heavy training. Two full seconds faster than the time

:55:42. > :55:49.she set to qualify for this semifinal. Look at that, waving to

:55:50. > :55:55.the fans, not too bad, semifinalist, centre lane for the final tomorrow

:55:56. > :56:02.night, job done. She is executing her races so well, challenging

:56:03. > :56:05.herself by pushing the third 50. And then to see what she is doing down

:56:06. > :56:09.the closing stages, then to see what she is doing down

:56:10. > :56:14.gold medal and pride, amazing what you can do to finish a race. I don't

:56:15. > :56:18.want to be picky but she can tighten up that glide. One hand on top of

:56:19. > :56:24.the other but a bit of daylight between her arms. Exciting. Chloe

:56:25. > :56:32.Tutton wins the first semifinal of the women's 200 breaststroke. Three

:56:33. > :56:40.very high quality swimmers through to the final I am sure.

:56:41. > :56:48.The quality of swimmers here at this European Championships is incredibly

:56:49. > :56:53.high. Molly Renshaw has qualified fastest of all from the heats this

:56:54. > :56:57.morning. She goes in lane four but Nicky Molla Pedersen Denmark is the

:56:58. > :57:09.world record holder and she is in five. I wonder how Molly Renshaw is

:57:10. > :57:16.feeling now because she is right next to the world-record holder.

:57:17. > :57:22.Quite extraordinary. Molly Renshaw just about to swim but I think

:57:23. > :57:25.Sharron Davies has Chloe Tutton. Emma Croker congratulations, another

:57:26. > :57:29.fantastic swim, knocking out world-class limbs every time you get

:57:30. > :57:38.in the water? Thank you, that is the fastest I have been. Everyday I just

:57:39. > :57:43.keep amazing in a way. Karen will be pleased you didn't mess up your last

:57:44. > :57:52.turn to night. I know, that was atrocious this morning. I carried

:57:53. > :57:59.on. I kept to my race plan. We hope you perfectly execute it tomorrow

:58:00. > :58:03.night. Thank you. There is Molly Renshaw fastest qualifier and to the

:58:04. > :58:11.right of her, the world-record holder, what a semifinal this is.

:58:12. > :58:20.There she is, Molly Pedersen of Denmark. This is going to be

:58:21. > :58:28.fascinating. The second semifinal of the women's 200 metres breaststroke.

:58:29. > :58:31.Fiona Doyle of Ireland. At the University of the Greek billion to

:58:32. > :58:40.fourth position in the individual 100 breaststroke.

:58:41. > :58:48.What a great opportunity this is for some fantastic experience. There is

:58:49. > :58:56.the world-record holder in five. Right next to her, what a wonderful

:58:57. > :59:00.experience, Molly Renshaw in lane four. You cannot ask for better

:59:01. > :59:06.preparation than swimming side-by-side with Pedersen. Great

:59:07. > :59:21.opportunity to go for a fast time. The second semifinal in the women's

:59:22. > :59:26.200 metres breaststroke, they also Chloe Tutton do a good time to win

:59:27. > :59:30.the first semi. I think Molly Renshaw will be looking forward to a

:59:31. > :59:35.good one here but she is right next to the world-record holder and

:59:36. > :59:45.defending champion, Molla Pedersen of Denmark. Renshaw going with

:59:46. > :59:49.Pedersen, they are in the middle, nothing much between all eight

:59:50. > :59:59.swimmers there. It is the very early stages. It is the Belgian up of the

:00:00. > :00:05.top who is leading. A similar, long glide. They really make the most of

:00:06. > :00:12.their late kick, very smooth, very chilled and relaxed. Don't get too

:00:13. > :00:17.impatient. I love watching this, so smooth and long, but a massive flow

:00:18. > :00:23.in lane for in that blue hat. And again, lovely glide, so if fish and

:00:24. > :00:25.and it looks like Molly Renshaw is going to turn first at the 100

:00:26. > :00:43.metres. Just 19 one hundredths splitting

:00:44. > :00:51.these women. It looks like Molly Renshaw starting to take it.

:00:52. > :00:54.Technically superb. Of the two British women's -- British swimmers

:00:55. > :00:59.this morning, she was the one who made the best start and best turns.

:01:00. > :01:03.At a time like this, when it is so close, it comes down to tiny

:01:04. > :01:08.margins, though important not to waste the turns, underwater work.

:01:09. > :01:11.Rikke Moeller Pedersen, such experience. Had a difficult

:01:12. > :01:15.Rikke Moeller Pedersen, such last year but getting herself into

:01:16. > :01:19.really good form with just ten weeks to go till Rio. She had a bit of a

:01:20. > :01:34.rest here, only swimming this event 's. Molly Renshaw chasing her. Also

:01:35. > :01:39.coming back fast is Jessica Vall Montero Spain. Rikke Moeller

:01:40. > :01:45.Pedersen looks like she has just eased through. Rikke Moeller

:01:46. > :01:49.Pedersen get the touch, Jessica Vall Montero second, Molly Renshaw third.

:01:50. > :01:54.I am pretty sure all three of those will go through to the final. It was

:01:55. > :02:02.a pretty fast first semifinal, I've got to say. Chloe Tutton did really

:02:03. > :02:07.well. We might have two British women through to the final of the

:02:08. > :02:11.women's 200 metres breaststroke. That would be fantastic. We didn't

:02:12. > :02:16.have breaststroke swimmers for quite a while for Great Britain and

:02:17. > :02:23.suddenly we have got two. All that underwater work they have to do. So

:02:24. > :02:30.high out of the water. Look at that hour in the upper body. Glide into

:02:31. > :02:34.the wall. -- look at that power in the upper body. Fantastic to see the

:02:35. > :02:40.greatest in the world, the greatest in history, Rikke Moeller Pedersen

:02:41. > :02:50.winning that second semifinal. Great swimming from the British women.

:02:51. > :02:53.Let's see who is in the final. I believe is the British women will

:02:54. > :03:01.make it. Chloe Tutton fastest into the final. Molly Renshaw in sixth.

:03:02. > :03:06.Sharon Davies now talking to Molly Renshaw.

:03:07. > :03:11.I certainly am. Great to see you swimming so well. You have missed

:03:12. > :03:18.out so many times on teams. It must be great to see you here, showing

:03:19. > :03:24.what you can do. I've been training very hard for the Olympics, but

:03:25. > :03:33.getting back into it now will make a medal much easier. The breaststroke

:03:34. > :03:37.was going to be tough. If I can relax into it more tomorrow night,

:03:38. > :03:46.it will be a lot better. What sort of time will win it? The fastest

:03:47. > :03:51.time! It's a fair point, who's going to

:03:52. > :03:55.win it, the fastest! I think Sharon hit the nail on the head when she

:03:56. > :04:01.said both Chloe and Molly seemed to be on the crest of a swimming wave.

:04:02. > :04:06.Both of them are either but a second off their personal best times. They

:04:07. > :04:11.are really good in all the gym sessions. Even here, they go into

:04:12. > :04:14.the pool after here, doing a lot of metres, not just going and getting a

:04:15. > :04:20.massage. They are still doing serious hard work. Next, the final

:04:21. > :04:25.of the men's 50 metres backstroke. Keep your eye on lane four, the

:04:26. > :04:37.Frenchman Camille Lacourt. There are the eight finalists, only

:04:38. > :04:42.four tenths of a second splitting all eight of them coming into this

:04:43. > :04:48.final. The fastest and favourite, the world champion in four, Camille

:04:49. > :04:54.Lacourt of France. Well, all eyes on Camille Lacourt, a 31-year-old

:04:55. > :05:00.Frenchman. He is a big chap, very fast. Your eyes on him as well,

:05:01. > :05:06.aren't they? Of course, because he will be in the centre of the pool.

:05:07. > :05:15.For that reason only! As well... Sorry, only! Oh, dear... In every,

:05:16. > :05:20.he should win comfortably. A big tattoo. He has got a nose clip. You

:05:21. > :05:26.don't see many swimmers putting those on now. He will go up to 15

:05:27. > :05:31.metres underwater and some swimmers prefer a nose clip to stop the water

:05:32. > :05:37.going up the nose rather than to be breathing out through the nose. You

:05:38. > :05:40.used to use those. I did, so much easier to hold your breath using

:05:41. > :05:48.that and to try and club your nose using your lips. -- plug your nose.

:05:49. > :05:53.The final of the men's 50 backstroke. The world champion in

:05:54. > :06:00.four, Camille Lacourt of France. Fascinating start from Tomasz

:06:01. > :06:06.Polewka of Poland. He had the best start of all of them. The European

:06:07. > :06:10.short-course champion in this 50 metres backstroke. The world

:06:11. > :06:14.champion is Camille Lacourt, but he's got some work to do in the

:06:15. > :06:19.centre. Guy Barnea of Israel going well. It may well be Camille

:06:20. > :06:25.Lacourt. He has got the gold, Camille Lacourt. The world champion

:06:26. > :06:30.wins it. The silver goes to Richard Bohus of Hungary. That's a surprise.

:06:31. > :06:35.When you are six foot seven, if you want to beat him, you've got to be

:06:36. > :06:36.ahead. He's got the reach. His arms are so long. If

:06:37. > :06:42.ahead. He's got the reach. His arms touch, as he did there. He's got

:06:43. > :06:49.such a huge reach. touch, as he did there. He's got

:06:50. > :06:55.reached down rather than out. It was good enough, 24.7 takes gold in the

:06:56. > :07:01.50 metres backstroke for Camille Lacourt of France.

:07:02. > :07:07.Halfway through the competition, it's a case of so far, so good for

:07:08. > :07:12.Team GB. Let's be honest, we've been awesome.

:07:13. > :07:17.Silver medal goes to Hannah Miley of Great Britain. It's something I can

:07:18. > :07:31.work on, but pretty good. Is silver, very close indeed. I

:07:32. > :07:38.think Benjamin Proud might well have got a bronze medal, Britain's first

:07:39. > :07:43.medal of a two. A gold, bronze to Fran Halsall. A very good time

:07:44. > :07:51.indeed. It's going to be a wonderful gold medal. Gold and silver to

:07:52. > :07:58.Britain. One of the best races I've ever had. TV support. Great. Great

:07:59. > :08:01.Britain are going to win their second gold medal of the

:08:02. > :08:10.championships, and its gold to team Great Britain. He's going well. I've

:08:11. > :08:20.got to say, that's a very, very impressive gold medal for James Guy.

:08:21. > :08:27.Happy with that one. What a brilliant sprint, 1.7, -- 1:7.5.

:08:28. > :08:32.Took the bronze. It looks like it's going to be gold to Hungary,
