:00:39. > :00:43.Welcome to the second day of the Barclays ATP World Tour Final.

:00:43. > :00:53.Playing today is a man who loves making history and makes a habit of

:00:53. > :00:54.

:00:54. > :01:04.winning in London. I love playing here. It has worked out well for me

:01:04. > :01:04.

:01:04. > :01:47.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 43 seconds

:01:47. > :01:51.More history and more records for The hype before the tournament is

:01:51. > :01:55.something I look forward to every year.

:01:55. > :02:00.He triumphed at Wimbledon again this year and this week looking for

:02:00. > :02:05.his 7th victory in this event. At 31, he is trying to prove to the

:02:05. > :02:10.young guns he is not finished and can finish a strong as everybody.

:02:10. > :02:17.He is up against Tipsarevic, the world No. 9 and seeded eight here

:02:18. > :02:24.who has reached the quarter-finals in 14 events. But it is 5-0 in

:02:24. > :02:28.favour of Federer in their head-to- head. And David Ferrer is up

:02:28. > :02:32.against a Juan Martin del Potro. Yesterday we saw Andy Murray go

:02:32. > :02:38.through in three sets against Tomas Berdych in the afternoon. In the

:02:38. > :02:44.afternoon, Djokovic who be came the world No. 1 yesterday, he came

:02:44. > :02:54.through in straight sets against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. So they both

:02:54. > :03:00.

:03:00. > :03:06.made an impressive start this week. The top two from each group going

:03:06. > :03:11.through. I have top two here with me. Pat Cash and Andrew Castle for

:03:11. > :03:16.start yesterday, Andy Murray had a shaky start and dropped the opening

:03:16. > :03:20.set, but Djokovic was very good last night? That was a tough match

:03:20. > :03:26.for Andy Murray. To come up against Tomas Berdych. Berdych is a big

:03:26. > :03:33.hitting player. He likes the indoors, and it was always going to

:03:33. > :03:41.be a tough match. You don't get any easy matches. You don't get a first

:03:41. > :03:45.or second round to ease into it. It could have gone either way. And

:03:45. > :03:55.Tsonga and Djokovic, some entertainment in that. There has

:03:55. > :03:59.

:03:59. > :04:09.been some entertainment out here as well, the doubles is taking place.

:04:09. > :04:13.

:04:13. > :04:17.Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen had just one. Marray, to

:04:17. > :04:27.save match. It was a good bits of bravery. They have only won three

:04:27. > :04:30.

:04:30. > :04:40.matches since they won at at Wimbledon as the wildcard. Also,

:04:40. > :04:40.

:04:40. > :04:45.Bopanna and Bhupathi. That is a great start. Frederik Nielsen still

:04:45. > :04:52.thinks he wants to be a singles player, and he is very good. They

:04:52. > :04:57.have not been together to play much doubles. Last week in Paris, Marray

:04:57. > :05:02.was with another partner. It is one of the big sports stories of last

:05:02. > :05:06.year how these two players came together from the work and won the

:05:06. > :05:12.Wimbledon title. It is incredible. Frederik Nielsen from Denmark is a

:05:12. > :05:18.very good player. I saw him at the beginning of the year in Perth, it

:05:18. > :05:25.is like an Australian Open leader tournament. He played Mardy Fish,

:05:25. > :05:31.had his best year ever. I thought, who is he, he is smashing winners

:05:31. > :05:35.everywhere. But then he lost his nerve and lost a close match. But

:05:35. > :05:43.you realise how many good players are out there on the circuit. And

:05:43. > :05:47.these guys joined up and one or Wimbledon. It was completely lost

:05:47. > :05:53.among small stories like Bradley winning -- Bradley Wiggins winning

:05:53. > :05:58.the Tour de France. And Andy Murray reaching the Wimbledon final with

:05:58. > :06:02.Federer. And a few other bits and bobs besides. For Jonathan Marray

:06:02. > :06:10.it is tough for him that Frederik Nielsen wants to play singles. But

:06:10. > :06:15.he has to find a partner because those point will come off. Computer

:06:15. > :06:22.points stay on for a year. It is a bit like America after the

:06:22. > :06:28.elections, it will fall off the fiscal Cliff. You ranking for off a

:06:28. > :06:38.cliff as well. He has been a good doubles player for a long time. And

:06:38. > :06:38.

:06:38. > :06:44.when they beat the Bryan brothers, it it was amazing. It was a

:06:44. > :06:48.celebration every time they hit winning shots. What a year they had.

:06:48. > :06:55.We have one more event to go in this year. Pat, you have been

:06:55. > :07:00.questioning about the court surface. They are slowing them down and it

:07:00. > :07:09.seems as though there isn't enough contrast now in the game, to

:07:09. > :07:15.encourage? This has been going on for years. Tim Henman said in 1998,

:07:15. > :07:22.I texting before I finish the article in the Sunday Times. I ask

:07:22. > :07:27.what time it was when he lost in the finals. This tournament used to

:07:27. > :07:33.be on a fast indoor tennis courts. Boris Becker was dominating, Pete

:07:33. > :07:38.Sampras was dominating. Andre Agassi did well and Jim Coria did

:07:38. > :07:44.well. But the weight the surface is made, they bring boards in, link

:07:44. > :07:49.them together and pains hard court painter on the top of it. The hard

:07:49. > :07:55.court tournaments, which is the majority of the tournaments, it is

:07:55. > :08:01.hard court paint. It is Sandy, and it slows the ball down. It is not

:08:01. > :08:08.so bad, but we are seeing a dying out of contrast of the serve and

:08:08. > :08:13.volley. We're not seen the likes of Pete Sampras any more. Serve and

:08:13. > :08:20.volley years are gone. One of the main reasons is this surface. The

:08:20. > :08:25.ATP needs to look at it, OK we have great players, it is fantastic.

:08:25. > :08:32.Look at the rallies they have. What about the next bunch of players

:08:32. > :08:38.coming through? Will we have any contrast? Will we see any serve and

:08:38. > :08:42.volley? The skill of a volley is high. To get around the net and I

:08:42. > :08:49.think it is a missing part of the game and a dying part of the game.

:08:49. > :08:54.Trouble is, we are old enough to remember when Goran Ivanisevic and

:08:54. > :08:58.the big servers were around and they were making the rallies are

:08:58. > :09:03.only two or three shots long. People were saying, we have to do

:09:04. > :09:11.something. They should have made it a medium court. It is some of the

:09:11. > :09:16.strings as well, it is not just the court. Only the guys out here, we

:09:16. > :09:22.have seen some fantastic dollies. It is spectacular. We saw Michael

:09:22. > :09:27.Llodra in Paris last week. Serving and volleying. You can do it, but

:09:27. > :09:33.it is very difficult. You need a surface that it rewards that,

:09:33. > :09:40.otherwise we would just see a long driving contest. The matches we

:09:40. > :09:44.have seen, Djokovic, and Andy Murray, some of the matches we see

:09:45. > :09:49.are so spectacular. I understand your logic, but you want those

:09:49. > :09:57.matches gone, these four hour marathons and these classic

:09:57. > :10:00.encounters. The Australian Open, Andy Murray and Djokovic. They are

:10:00. > :10:05.classics, we do not want to lose them or stock but that is the final

:10:05. > :10:11.and semi-final. We are talking about people turning up at these

:10:11. > :10:17.tournaments and people-watching and they say, they all played the same.

:10:17. > :10:23.There is no variety. For the benefit of tennis, we cannot lose

:10:23. > :10:26.her volley, we cannot lose a player that is willing to come forward.

:10:26. > :10:31.Roger Federer should be able to play for another 20 years by

:10:31. > :10:36.serving and volleying. But he cannot do that on a slow court.

:10:36. > :10:40.set yourself up, there are targets either side of you or the lob over

:10:41. > :10:45.your head. The person at the back of the court he is defending, has a

:10:45. > :10:51.chance to put the passing shot or lob they want to hit. It used to be

:10:51. > :10:57.hitting a nice length would be fined. It is very much in the

:10:57. > :10:59.favour of the base player. Two generations ago it was a Pete

:10:59. > :11:06.Sampras and the serving and volleying. Some were in the middle

:11:06. > :11:12.would be nice. A lot of these players are getting so tired, they

:11:12. > :11:16.are exhausted. It does need to be looked at. It would be nice to have

:11:16. > :11:22.a balance. Wimbledon has slowed down, the French Open has quickened

:11:22. > :11:27.up. I'm sure we will talk more about that as the week goes on.

:11:27. > :11:31.We're looking forward to this match which features Roger Federer. He

:11:32. > :11:39.has won it six times and bidding to become only the third person to win

:11:39. > :11:49.it three times in a row. Let's hear from Roger and his thoughts playing

:11:49. > :11:52.

:11:52. > :11:57.I love playing here. I always believed in plain from January to

:11:57. > :12:02.November. It has worked out for me over the last few years. I go in

:12:02. > :12:07.with some pressure, having to defend the title. It is nice to

:12:07. > :12:14.have qualified in the first place. And I like feeling the hype before

:12:14. > :12:19.it tournament, it is quite a nice. I like getting around the city.

:12:19. > :12:25.During Wimbledon, most of the players do stay in the village. We

:12:25. > :12:31.just focus on tennis. But most of us will be staying in the city and

:12:31. > :12:35.there is much more around town, promoting the finals. It is kind of

:12:35. > :12:40.cool being here for the third time this year. Every time it was so

:12:40. > :12:45.different. Going from Wimbledon to the Olympics, and now at the O2

:12:45. > :12:50.Arena. It is really nice. I was hoping to be here three times, and

:12:50. > :12:53.I was going to be healthy and ready to place. That is the case. It is

:12:53. > :12:59.just around the corner and I hope to play good tennis and hopefully

:12:59. > :13:04.the fans will enjoy themselves as well. For how pleased are you this

:13:04. > :13:13.year? Obviously getting the Wimbledon title again. It has been

:13:13. > :13:20.a particularly good year for you? very good year. I won when I was

:13:20. > :13:23.sick in Indian Wells, when I was injured in Madrid. I have reached

:13:24. > :13:27.semi-finals at the time I play, except in Miami. And obviously I

:13:27. > :13:32.made the finals at the Olympics will stop getting an Olympic silver

:13:32. > :13:42.medal, which I thought was amazing as well. And winning Wimbledon, and

:13:42. > :13:47.getting back to world No. 1 was amazing. It has been an overall,

:13:47. > :13:53.consistent season. I'm not to disappoint I do not finish world No.

:13:53. > :13:57.1. I am in a different place. My goal was achieved. After looking at

:13:57. > :14:02.the long term, I would like to stay around for as long as I can. I hope

:14:02. > :14:11.he stays around for a long time. It is interesting, talking about being

:14:11. > :14:16.tired for stopping lost the final in Basel? When you have been around

:14:16. > :14:20.as long as he has and surround yourself with good people, you know

:14:20. > :14:25.you have to listen to your body. One of the things you do not talk

:14:25. > :14:28.about with Roger is how few times he has retired. Not only is he a

:14:28. > :14:35.great athlete, consistent concentration, he does not get

:14:35. > :14:44.injured. There is a lot to be jealous of! The way he reacted to

:14:44. > :14:50.Djokovic's grey year last year and then said, -- greater year. He

:14:50. > :14:56.energised as a reaction to jockeys. There is so much respect in every

:14:56. > :15:00.single way with Rogers. I enjoy watching him play. And to come back

:15:00. > :15:05.and win Wimbledon and retake the number-one spot. Everyone was

:15:05. > :15:09.wondering if his time had gone? thing I find amazing about him, his

:15:09. > :15:14.consistency clearly. But at the time when other players were

:15:14. > :15:20.getting on top of him, Rafael Nadal for instance, even Andy Murray was

:15:20. > :15:23.coming through, Djokovic. He reinvented his game. He said he

:15:23. > :15:29.would play more attacking from the baseline, his position was more

:15:29. > :15:34.attacking. He realised, I might and not be as consistent, hopefully I

:15:34. > :15:39.will be, but when I am red hot, nobody will stop me. I'm getting

:15:39. > :15:45.the ball back quicker. That was to nullify Rafael Nadal, and it has

:15:45. > :15:49.given him a bit more life in his career. And this guy, Tipsarevic,

:15:49. > :15:54.has a task on his hands? He did not know he was going to be here until

:15:54. > :16:02.last Thursday in Paris. He won a couple of tough matches. He has

:16:02. > :16:12.earned his place in London. He was fighting to get his spot here. We

:16:12. > :16:48.

:16:48. > :16:58.will pause, because they are just We are about to find out how much

:16:58. > :17:36.

:17:36. > :17:40.they love this man. The world No. 2, SUE BARKER: What a welcome. Andrew,

:17:40. > :17:45.he has a love affair with London. All the fans have a love affair

:17:45. > :17:51.with Roger Federer? Absolutely right. A lot of people get stuck on

:17:51. > :17:57.one player or the other. They asked are you a Rafael Nadal fan, a

:17:57. > :18:03.Djokovic fan, a Federer fan, and Andy Murray fan. I am a fan of all

:18:03. > :18:07.of them. I am a fan of any player who dares the soul and shows super

:18:07. > :18:11.of the lady on the court. That is all of them. All I know when

:18:11. > :18:16.Federer is not here any more, he will be missed. We will probably

:18:16. > :18:21.say he was the best of all time. Even if he has another four years

:18:21. > :18:26.left in him like he hopes, he wants to finish in Rio 2016. It is

:18:26. > :18:36.something to watch him play. Other players have gone into the 30s and

:18:36. > :18:57.

:18:57. > :19:02.stayed at the top. It is tough in SUE BARKER: I love it when the

:19:02. > :19:08.umpire says, any questions? How many matches have they played, does

:19:08. > :19:13.anyone ever ask any questions? They have done it before. Talking about

:19:13. > :19:18.Roger and how long he can go on. We were sort of writing him off,

:19:18. > :19:22.wondering if his time had gone at the beginning of this year. And he

:19:22. > :19:27.has come back and now he has a work ethic that is so strong now, he

:19:27. > :19:33.wants to get back to No 1. He says he does not care about the No 1

:19:33. > :19:38.slot, but he does care about it? long as he is fit, and we have all

:19:38. > :19:42.been at the end of our career. If you are fit and refreshed, you will

:19:42. > :19:48.keep going as long as you can. He does not want to see Federer

:19:48. > :19:57.playing? He is different and other players. His style, his finesse and

:19:57. > :20:02.the way he moves. Remove so effortlessly, we would love to see

:20:02. > :20:07.him keep going. You are good friends with Martina Navratilova,

:20:07. > :20:12.reading something about her. I was fascinated, she was winning

:20:12. > :20:18.everything. You cannot have a perfect game of tennis. There is

:20:18. > :20:22.always something to work out. The older you get, you think I could be

:20:22. > :20:27.doing this, I could be doing that. Maybe I could change my training a

:20:27. > :20:31.little bit. There is always something to tweak. That is what is

:20:31. > :20:36.interesting against -- about Federer, continually pushing

:20:37. > :20:41.themselves and raising the bar. was a massive relieved to him to

:20:41. > :20:45.win a Grand Slam title, win a Wimbledon again. It had been 2.5

:20:45. > :20:52.years since he had won one. He wanted to prove he could do it it

:20:52. > :20:59.again. He then went back to world No. 1 and has been No 1 for 302

:21:00. > :21:04.weeks. That is greedy! The previous record was Pete Sampras at 286. He

:21:05. > :21:12.considers this to be a big title. We should see Federer in full flow,

:21:12. > :21:20.a free from the word go. Tipsarevic may have competition. He played an

:21:20. > :21:24.almost a great match in 2008 in Australia. That is the only time.

:21:25. > :21:32.Federer has not failed to make a quarter-final at Grand Slam level

:21:32. > :21:39.since 2004. That is mad! Anyway, he is a player to be enjoyed. I like

:21:39. > :21:49.the colours of his clothes, it is like a bruise, black and purple.

:21:49. > :21:49.

:21:49. > :21:57.bit like what you are whirring. -- wearing. Tipsarevic doesn't have

:21:57. > :22:02.that good a record. It is 5-0 in favour of Federer and that is tough

:22:02. > :22:08.to overcome question mark often when you pay et -- played a player,

:22:08. > :22:14.and you don't have much to lose the stock they went all the way, 86 in

:22:14. > :22:23.the 5th. It caused some issues quit the scheduling. Lleyton Hewitt had

:22:23. > :22:28.to follow and ended up playing at 4am in the morning. Tipsarevic is a

:22:28. > :22:38.great shot maker. He can hit the ball hard. And he is not tall, but

:22:38. > :22:46.

:22:46. > :22:56.he is quick, powerful and has all If he is sharp, and he says he will

:22:56. > :22:57.

:22:57. > :23:01.be fine. What an inspiration. Look at the year ending rankings.

:23:01. > :23:06.Suddenly he goes up to the top 10, the biggest rise in the top 10 of

:23:06. > :23:11.anybody and stays there for year. 13 months ago he won his first

:23:11. > :23:15.tournament and now he is a star of again. He looks the part. People

:23:15. > :23:20.will be latching on to him because of his look and his intellect. He

:23:20. > :23:27.will probably be smashed up today! Let's hear from them, he was

:23:27. > :23:33.talking about his illness. He arrived with a virus and was caused

:23:33. > :23:40.to pull out with his quarter-final match with Jerzy Janowicz. To many

:23:40. > :23:47.tournaments, too many matches, fighting to get to London. It got

:23:47. > :23:51.to me. I was sick, I had a fever. But now I am feeling better. I have

:23:51. > :23:56.to admit, I was scared I wouldn't be able to play and perform here.

:23:56. > :24:01.The quality of players, as always, in London is so high. You need to

:24:01. > :24:05.be on your top game to even consider having a chance to make

:24:05. > :24:11.any win here. The opening match against Roger Federer who has won

:24:11. > :24:18.this title so many times, six times before. Your thoughts on that?

:24:19. > :24:23.is not the easiest of matches, I will tell you that. But I have

:24:23. > :24:28.belief that if I am fit enough, and I believe I will be, and I will

:24:28. > :24:32.play my best tennis, I have a chance to win. Obviously Roger is

:24:32. > :24:38.probably the biggest champion in this sport, won this tournament

:24:38. > :24:41.six-times in the past. The pressure is going to be on him. I am not

:24:41. > :24:46.saying I do not believe in this theory, you have nothing to lose,

:24:46. > :24:53.but I hope I can handle the pressure.

:24:53. > :24:57.SUE BARKER: We know he will handle the pressure. It is 80 of match,

:24:57. > :25:02.obviously. Any match his stuff, but Tipsarevic has to stay with Federer

:25:02. > :25:07.all along? Obviously, he is happy to get here, he has worked really

:25:07. > :25:11.hard to get to the finals. Last year he was an ultimate and filled

:25:11. > :25:16.in when Andy Murray pulled out. This is the first time he has

:25:16. > :25:26.qualified legitimately. He will be pumped to play Roger Federer in the

:25:26. > :25:26.

:25:26. > :26:22.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 43 seconds

:26:22. > :26:32.big occasion. All set to go. Head Tipsarevic, 28 years of age.

:26:32. > :26:43.

:26:43. > :26:53.Federer is 31 years of age now. Rafael Nadal inactive and still

:26:53. > :27:21.

:27:21. > :27:30.Tipsarevic, from Belgrade in Serbia, electing to receive serve to ease

:27:30. > :27:36.himself into the match. He lost it. That would have been his thinking

:27:36. > :27:44.if Federer started slowly for once. Alive atmosphere and Tuesday

:27:44. > :27:54.afternoon. -- a lively atmosphere. The final is on a Monday. It is an

:27:54. > :27:54.

:27:54. > :28:39.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 43 seconds

:28:39. > :28:49.Tipsarevic, electing to serve half way along the baseline. Sometimes

:28:49. > :28:53.

:25:00. > :25:09.Unreal. That was just about Tipsarevic's best rally of the

:25:09. > :25:13.match. Of the year. We go on about Federer all of the time. We respect

:25:13. > :25:19.them all, but there is a style and panache in which he plays that it

:25:19. > :25:24.is actually incomparable. I cannot remember. My grew up loving

:25:24. > :25:29.watching Ilie Nastase played. Then there was the John McEnroe stuck.

:25:29. > :25:38.Ilie Nastase was an amazingly gifted player. Then along comes

:25:38. > :25:45.this man, and a young Australian called Peter Carter, who tragically

:25:45. > :25:52.died in a car accident. But Federer has just got the most beautiful

:25:52. > :25:57.style in which to play the game. is a breath of fresh air. There are

:25:57. > :26:07.so many double handed players. It is nice to see Federer played his

:26:07. > :26:08.

:26:08. > :26:15.way. It is very elegant. I suppose it wouldn't have stood out as much

:26:15. > :26:24.a couple of years ago. Turning his shoulders a long way to try and get

:26:24. > :26:34.the power he needs. Arms both going reverse. He doesn't have the two

:26:34. > :26:34.

:26:44. > :26:50.

:26:50. > :26:54.Tipsarevic tried the old reverse. He has got that shot. I don't think

:32:25. > :32:30.Turning things around. Well done. Nice little bluff. Federer was

:36:27. > :36:28.

:36:28. > :36:32.his opportunities. And he has won in straight sets. A great return to

:36:32. > :36:38.London and the crowd have certainly enjoyed him playing in this

:36:38. > :36:43.afternoon session. Here is Roger. Welcome back to London and will

:36:43. > :36:48.come back, fantastic start to your group. It is great to be playing so

:36:48. > :36:51.well and back in London, third time already this year, the other two

:36:51. > :36:58.were great experiences so I hope that something similar is going to

:36:58. > :37:08.happen this week. It is a great atmosphere. And I am happy to play

:37:08. > :37:10.

:37:11. > :37:14.Tipsarevic, he is a great player, I am sure many of your fans so you

:37:14. > :37:19.win Wimbledon, you 17 Grand Slam title, how special was that?

:37:19. > :37:25.Everybody knows how much I care about Wimbledon. It was obviously

:37:25. > :37:29.amazing, winning again, back to ward No. 1 in the process, it was a

:37:29. > :37:36.dream come true for any tennis player, and I had a great year,

:37:36. > :37:41.great summer, and I gave everything I had, and then to get sober as

:37:41. > :37:51.well, a few weeks later was amazing, too. -- to get the silver medal as

:37:51. > :37:53.

:37:53. > :37:57.I hope that I can keep it up. have obviously won this title more

:37:57. > :38:02.than anyone, six times, you have more match victories in this

:38:02. > :38:09.tournament, you just surpassed Ivan Lendl - was there any record that

:38:10. > :38:15.you do not have that you want? cannot go back in time, you know? I

:38:15. > :38:21.was a good junior. There are many things I cannot do, but I am happy

:38:22. > :38:27.how well my career has gone and in some ways I would have loved to win

:38:27. > :38:32.a Grand Slam very young like Boris Becker did, but it is just how it

:38:32. > :38:36.goes sometimes in your career, sometimes, you only get one chance,

:38:37. > :38:40.I work extremely hard, it has been a great career, and hopefully I

:38:40. > :38:45.have got some more left in the tie. You will be back here another

:38:45. > :38:51.couple of times at least, we look forward to it. A thank you very

:38:51. > :38:56.much. Great ovation for a great champion. Roger Federer saying that

:38:56. > :39:02.he would like to win a Grand Slam when he was younger, he certainly

:39:02. > :39:07.made up for it later on. His timing and shot making was exquisite. I

:39:07. > :39:13.know that Tipsarevic was suffering with a virus before it, but Roger

:39:13. > :39:20.Federer was just Supreme. The other group match, did it rare up against

:39:20. > :39:25.Juan Martin del Potro. -- David Ferrer. He will be able to follow

:39:25. > :39:31.that live on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports extra. We will be back on

:39:31. > :39:36.BBC Two and the BBC HD Channel for this match, Djokovic against Murray

:39:36. > :39:42.in their group match. Looking forward to that. Let us reflect on

:39:42. > :39:47.what we have just seen. Tipsarevic has been suffering with a virus but

:39:47. > :39:51.he could not have done anything today, if he was fully fit, because

:39:51. > :39:57.Federer was awesome. The played very well, particularly in the

:39:57. > :40:04.second set, he lost a couple of long, close games, but there was

:40:04. > :40:10.much so few opportunities for him win Federer is serving that well.

:40:10. > :40:15.Towards the end he found his rhythm and he was serve-volleying, doing

:40:15. > :40:22.all the things that he loved to see Roger Federer doing, so it really

:40:23. > :40:27.was a masterclass. What can you do, in that case? From the very first

:40:27. > :40:32.point, we knew that he meant business. Most people play

:40:32. > :40:35.themselves in over the course of two got three games in a match, and

:40:36. > :40:43.this is in the second game. There is so much variety that comes from

:40:43. > :40:48.Federer. He has won this tournament six times in total. I just do not

:40:48. > :40:55.know how you construct a game-plan to play against him. I love this

:40:55. > :41:01.one, that shot was so hard to play. If he ever takes up squash, he's

:41:01. > :41:06.going to be a demon at that, as well! He began to experiment, such

:41:06. > :41:10.was his belief in himself, playing himself into form, as soon as he

:41:10. > :41:15.gets his man of the court, he has to recover to get back to the

:41:15. > :41:22.middle and Federer goes back down the line. He won 95% of his first

:41:22. > :41:25.serve, what are you going to do? We're going to go back out on court,

:41:25. > :41:35.where there is a special presentation taking Culdrose to

:41:35. > :41:40.

:41:40. > :41:50.Novak Djokovic. -- taking place. For the second successive year, at

:41:50. > :41:57.

:41:57. > :42:03.When I said it was a special presentation, it is to announce at

:42:03. > :42:09.that he is a world No. 1, finishing the year as world No. 1 and it is a

:42:09. > :42:19.double celebration, getting the Arthur Ashe Award for all the

:42:19. > :42:42.

:42:42. > :42:52.humanitarian work that he does for I want to go back as much as I can.

:42:52. > :43:04.

:43:04. > :43:14.It is a unique opportunity for us to represent Serbia. He went on to

:43:14. > :43:18.

:43:18. > :43:28.reach another nine finals winning The recipient of the Arthur Ashe

:43:28. > :43:32.

:43:32. > :43:37.humanitarian award is a 2012 world Obviously it has been an incredible

:43:37. > :43:44.year, not only the world No. 1 total but also the prestigious

:43:44. > :43:50.Arthur Ashe humanitarian ward for all the work you have done on

:43:50. > :43:55.behalf of UNICEF and with your foundation. Novak, congratulations.

:43:55. > :43:59.Thank you very much. Thank you all four staying and sharing this

:43:59. > :44:06.precious moment with me. It is a huge honour once again to receive

:44:06. > :44:11.this beautiful award, to come back here to London makes me very happy

:44:11. > :44:16.and also, throughout the season, many players, especially those

:44:16. > :44:22.taking part in this finale of the season are fighting for the

:44:22. > :44:32.strawberry, so, it is an incredibly satisfying feeling and I could not

:44:32. > :44:33.

:44:33. > :44:36.be happier, right now, so the journey doesn't end here, and

:44:36. > :44:45.hopefully myself and my team will have an opportunity to fight for

:44:46. > :44:51.this trophy once more. One more big round of applause for not only the

:44:51. > :44:59.world No. 1, but the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award, the world No. 1,

:44:59. > :45:05.Novak Djokovic! A very proud man, Novak Djokovic, and two prestigious

:45:05. > :45:12.awards. Been world No. 1 knees so much to him. He will have to wait

:45:12. > :45:15.until the final week of 2012 to regain the top spot from Roger

:45:15. > :45:21.Federer pistol it away after winning the Wimbledon championship

:45:21. > :45:29.in the summer. I know that's they say they do not care about rankings,

:45:29. > :45:36.but they do. To be No. 1 at the end of the year two years in a row,

:45:36. > :45:40.only 10 players have done it before. Three out of four Grand Slams. It

:45:40. > :45:44.looked like he might be going into the French Open with a chance to

:45:44. > :45:48.win four in a row, and at that stage that was incredible. He had a

:45:48. > :45:54.quiet patch in the middle but overall he has been incredibly

:45:54. > :45:58.consistent this year, yet again. A couple of years ago I was a

:45:58. > :46:06.wandering, thinking he was levelling out, potentially going on

:46:06. > :46:11.the slide, he had a hitch, this and that, but boy, two years later, he

:46:11. > :46:17.becomes a world No. 1 for two years in a row. And his coach of many

:46:18. > :46:20.years and confident and adviser, we are always asking for one per the

:46:21. > :46:27.line, what has made the difference, and we always think it is something

:46:27. > :46:31.magical, but it is just hard work. Even when he was world No. 3, he

:46:31. > :46:37.continued to work, and now the Future rivalry seems to be Murray

:46:37. > :46:42.and Djokovic. The match that we are going to see tomorrow afternoon

:46:42. > :46:47.between Murray and Djokovic, these two how each other every time they

:46:47. > :46:56.play, it does not matter where, under what conditions, when they

:46:56. > :47:00.play together they clang. And it is a nice match to watch. He had

:47:00. > :47:06.changed his diet, Novak Djokovic. He was getting all sorts of ailment

:47:06. > :47:10.Plummer. He is on a gluten free diet. He has a very long neck and

:47:10. > :47:20.he would wrote like a giraffe, and you would think, is he going to

:47:20. > :47:23.

:47:23. > :47:28.survive? -- droop. He was the first gluten free grand slam champion.

:47:28. > :47:38.And he's one of the most flexible players in the world. I have seen

:47:38. > :47:39.

:47:39. > :47:43.him do things that only Darcy Bussell can do. He is an

:47:43. > :47:49.unbelievable athlete. And, Andy Murray very much the same, the

:47:49. > :47:53.training that he does in Miami, taking the game to new levels. It

:47:53. > :47:59.is a very physical game. The courts are slow, the rallies are getting

:47:59. > :48:06.longer, they are able to get more shots back, pushing it the whole

:48:06. > :48:10.time. You can see how Rafael Nadal's knees have, not exploded,

:48:10. > :48:20.but you can see how he had some the problems, and some other guys have

:48:20. > :48:24.not. All of the shot-making and the titles that he has won, has

:48:24. > :48:30.consistency and not to be injured, it is absolutely phenomenal. I was

:48:30. > :48:35.injured a lot. I trained as hard as anybody. I believed I was the put

:48:35. > :48:42.his player in the world, but I got injured -- the fittest player. And

:48:42. > :48:49.I could not stay on the court. And these guys are doing this on the

:48:49. > :48:52.court of five hours, day after day, four years on end. I am not

:48:53. > :48:56.surprised sometimes they might need a year off, and fingers crossed

:48:56. > :49:02.that Rafael Nadal will come back. Now that Murray is reaching his

:49:02. > :49:11.peak, the have four players all blending well together in aspire as

:49:11. > :49:17.they might do not like playing each other, and it's sort of mixes up if

:49:17. > :49:21.the match at their best. And you have got Berdych and del Potro and

:49:21. > :49:26.Ferrer, who can be there for five hours, it is a great bunch of good

:49:26. > :49:31.players, once we get Rafael Nadal back. Fingers crossed that we can.

:49:31. > :49:36.His camp are not saying much. would have been the thing to come

:49:36. > :49:41.back. The indoor court does not suit him very much, the Australian

:49:41. > :49:46.Open is what they must be aiming for added a bit of luck we will see

:49:46. > :49:51.him back there, but rushing back is not the answer. It will be

:49:51. > :49:56.Australia, it will be six months since he played. I we still have

:49:56. > :50:01.him as the favourite for the French Open, on the clay service, no

:50:01. > :50:05.matter what. Even if you only start practising the week before. It is

:50:05. > :50:13.interesting that you mentioned David the rare, he is a forgotten

:50:13. > :50:19.man, but he is in form -- David Ferrer. Here he is in the world

:50:19. > :50:24.finals again, he has got the Davis Cup. He could be the number one man

:50:24. > :50:28.in the Davis Cup, without Rafael Nadal to rely on. He is a little

:50:28. > :50:36.guy, he can run all day, he continually works on his game. He

:50:36. > :50:40.is a danger. He will never give you a point. He won in Paris last year

:50:40. > :50:49.over the Polish qualifier, and this is what it means the him. This was

:50:49. > :50:52.his first Masters 1,000 on the ATP Tour, that was last Sunday. He has

:50:52. > :50:59.got the latest possible start, Tuesday night after that, and he

:50:59. > :51:05.has got to do it again. His last opponent was 6 ft 8, and the next

:51:05. > :51:11.opponent, his 6.5 added, whatever del Potro is. He is an unbelievably

:51:11. > :51:19.tenacious competitor. People should not feel like they might have not

:51:19. > :51:25.got a poor deal, not seen one of the big four, David Ferrer is a

:51:25. > :51:29.good player, and able to break into that top war situation. After del

:51:29. > :51:35.Potro came back after injury, I thought he was begging to get right

:51:35. > :51:41.back into the top four, but it has not quite happened. It has taken

:51:41. > :51:47.time. Injuries have taken their toll. Coming here and playing, and

:51:47. > :51:53.what he did, del Potro, when he got in trouble, most players would go

:51:53. > :51:58.back and start playing say, but he's hitting the ball harder and

:51:58. > :52:02.harder. It was fascinating to see. It looked like he was going to be

:52:02. > :52:08.number one in the world. There is nothing that he cannot do, he can

:52:08. > :52:11.serve big, he is the hardest hitting player in the world, he's

:52:11. > :52:17.going to be number one, we thought, then he got that this injury, but

:52:17. > :52:21.now he seems to be coming back into form. He beat Federer in Basel the

:52:21. > :52:27.other week. And he has lost to Federer so many times, in so many

:52:27. > :52:34.big matches including semi-finals of the Olympics, at 17-15 in the

:52:34. > :52:38.third set, then he beat Federer, that is another step up as he

:52:38. > :52:45.climbs back. I think he trusts his wrist and he's ready to do some

:52:45. > :52:52.damage. Somebody from that second six players, has to emerge. It

:52:52. > :52:56.could well be him. He has got the tools. Tomorrow of course we have

:52:56. > :53:00.Novak Djokovic against Andy Murray. Andy Murray had a very interesting

:53:01. > :53:05.summer. He was in tears on Centre Court when he lost to Federer, and

:53:05. > :53:14.then a few weeks later the crowd were on his feet as he won the

:53:14. > :53:18.Olympics. At the Olympics, the It was very different to the

:53:18. > :53:23.Wimbledon final. It was an incredible experience, personally.

:53:23. > :53:27.As a sports fan, it was so good, I watched was of the other sports and

:53:27. > :53:37.they did a great job at the Olympics and the Paralympics. It

:53:37. > :53:38.

:53:38. > :53:45.has been a very good year for me Has the US Open title victory sunk

:53:45. > :53:49.in, yet? I think it has. I have not had much time to enjoy it or think

:53:49. > :53:56.too much about it because you're playing tournaments 10 days after

:53:56. > :53:59.it, after I got back from New York, so I am sure that at the end when I

:53:59. > :54:05.can take a couple of weeks of I can relax and think about the last few

:54:05. > :54:10.months. I cannot remember that much about that week, that much about

:54:10. > :54:17.the match, only the last game of the match against Djokovic. I can

:54:17. > :54:20.hardly remember any of the match. I was obviously very focused. When

:54:20. > :54:25.you're in the zone like that, having all those people they are

:54:25. > :54:29.supporting you, it was great. I am glad that I managed to finally do

:54:29. > :54:33.it. It was an incredibly long match but the margins are so small

:54:33. > :54:40.between the four of you - do you feel like you're part of that now

:54:41. > :54:48.that you have got an Olympic and Grand Slam title? I Always just

:54:48. > :54:53.tried to keep improving. I have won over the years a lot of times

:54:53. > :55:00.against Roger and against Novak. And the final thing to do is to do

:55:00. > :55:04.it consecutively in Grand Slams and it was nice to finally do it, so

:55:04. > :55:12.that I can move on to the second part of my career, were I can focus

:55:12. > :55:17.and try and win another one. The number one spot Mac is not my main

:55:17. > :55:23.goal, the next major focus would be the Australian Open. That is a few

:55:23. > :55:30.months away. That is the next tournament to train for an build up

:55:31. > :55:34.for. If you get to number one in the world, through winning the

:55:34. > :55:43.major competitions and beating the best players in the world, so I

:55:46. > :55:53.must be for Andy Murray to finally win a Grand Slam title and finally

:55:53. > :55:59.get good of that. Absolutely. It is massive. I saw him in the locker

:56:16. > :56:22.very dejected. I said, you're going to win one-day, don't worry. And he

:56:22. > :56:30.kind of mumbled. Fair enough. Three months later, he has won the

:56:30. > :56:40.Olympic gold, Olympics silver and the US Open. I could not help but

:56:40. > :56:40.

:56:57. > :57:02.emotional stress of those situations, the mind does

:57:02. > :57:07.gymnastics. He should play the tape and remind himself, because he had

:57:07. > :57:11.to dig deeper than ever in that first set. And he deserves it. That

:57:11. > :57:19.is a thing about it. When he took the microphone from you at

:57:19. > :57:26.Wimbledon, he does not know how much danger he was in, never take

:57:26. > :57:31.the microphone of Sue Barker! time you look at me I would put the

:57:31. > :57:35.microphone up and he went again. was as if he was holding on to

:57:36. > :57:39.something. He tried to speak and then he couldn't. I kept saying,

:57:39. > :57:43.take your time, take your time, I knew that he wanted to say

:57:43. > :57:48.something and everybody wanted to hear what he had to say, and he won

:57:48. > :57:54.a lot of fans that they, but talking about tomorrow, it is

:58:05. > :58:09.how do you see this one? These guys, these two are going to be up there

:58:09. > :58:15.for a while, and every match means something to them. At this stage of

:58:15. > :58:24.their career. Both want to push for No. 1 and hold on to number one.

:58:24. > :58:31.Pick a winner! I am not going to pick a winner! Andy Murray! Novak
