:00:33. > :00:38.Good afternoon and welcome to day five of the Barclays ATP World Tour

:00:39. > :00:41.Finals. I have come here to see the fans. There is so much to entertain

:00:42. > :00:43.the supporters who arrived early. You can watch the stars in action on

:00:44. > :01:03.the practice court, have a go You can watch the stars in action on

:01:04. > :01:15.muscle of the last four days is anything to go by, we are in for a

:01:16. > :01:21.real treat. Smile, boys! You can see and feel the quality and

:01:22. > :01:38.intensity of the match. Deadly accurate. Amazing. Magnificent

:01:39. > :01:50.hitting from both. How does he do that? He smashed his record. --

:01:51. > :02:12.racket. He has got it. Clenched fist from Nadal.

:02:13. > :02:16.racket. He has got it. Clenched fist Ferrer can't get through, but Stan

:02:17. > :02:21.can. It has been an amazing week so far, Tim. Rafa and Djokovic have

:02:22. > :02:26.looked a standard above. Yes, they have won their two matches and got

:02:27. > :02:38.through to the semifinals. There is a lot to play for four Inca -- for

:02:39. > :02:41.warring cut. -- Stanislas Wawrinka. But the way he has performed in some

:02:42. > :02:46.of the big event has been fantastic. Even in his match that he lost

:02:47. > :02:53.against Rafa Nadal, it was two close sets where we had -- he had chances.

:02:54. > :02:58.So I think he wants to put on a good show against Ferrer, who for me has

:02:59. > :03:01.been looking tired. You are not missing anything behind us. We will

:03:02. > :03:03.be slightly later with the match getting underway, because a doubles

:03:04. > :03:24.match is in one getting underway, because a doubles

:03:25. > :03:29.for seven weeks in a row, and while he is such a workman and such a fit

:03:30. > :03:34.man and an example to all his professionals, he has run out of

:03:35. > :03:40.steam this week a bit. He is playing for pride now. But to be able to

:03:41. > :03:44.come out and provide your best this afternoon, I don't have my gases,

:03:45. > :03:50.but he has played in Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Beijing, Paris, Stockholm

:03:51. > :03:55.and Valencia. I don't know if you could manage his schedule better

:03:56. > :04:05.than that. I have to question some of it. He was already going to be in

:04:06. > :04:09.the tour final. What an amazing year he has had. Perhaps he would not

:04:10. > :04:13.have been through if Andy Murray had not had the back operation, but he

:04:14. > :04:34.has played fantastically well. If you look at that schedule,

:04:35. > :04:36.has played fantastically well. If looked exhausted. But he has got

:04:37. > :04:40.pride, and he will make this a contest because he will not want to

:04:41. > :04:45.finish the year with a loss. He will not be a walkover, by any means. And

:04:46. > :04:50.he has played five or six more tournaments than Rafa and Novak.

:04:51. > :04:58.Some players just thrive on competition. Yeah, he is not someone

:04:59. > :05:06.who can dip in and out of competition. His game style is

:05:07. > :05:14.relentless. And he grinds down his opponents. He has done that so

:05:15. > :05:18.successfully. To be three in the world is an incredible achievement.

:05:19. > :05:20.He will be looking forward to some holidays after this. Let's look at

:05:21. > :05:48.How many years have we been covering Group A as it stands at the moment.

:05:49. > :05:53.How many years have we been covering this event? We go back a long way.

:05:54. > :06:01.But if Stan wins and then Berdych wins, they have all got two wins. It

:06:02. > :06:05.is not as simple as I made it sound. There are several scenarios written

:06:06. > :06:12.down here. We will get to them some other time. Stan has got to win.

:06:13. > :06:21.There is one other one I wanted to point out. Berdych can still win the

:06:22. > :06:28.group. Thereby avoiding Djokovic. Did you say that already? I said it

:06:29. > :06:30.would be Berdych and Nadal that go through. But avoiding Djokovic in

:06:31. > :06:33.the other semifinal, because he looks immense this week, that is

:06:34. > :06:53.good news. The his unbeaten run last night, but

:06:54. > :07:02.only just survived a strong challenge from Del Potro. The

:07:03. > :07:03.momentum was with the Argentine. Yet again, Djokovic's survival instincts

:07:04. > :07:41.kicked in and he won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. It is incredible for Djokovic, how

:07:42. > :07:43.every time Del Potro had two break points in the third game, he just

:07:44. > :08:04.finds a way to win. He points in the third game, he just

:08:05. > :08:11.on court within 36 hours, and continues to deliver. For me, it is

:08:12. > :08:16.his mental fortitude and his athletic ability, the way he is able

:08:17. > :08:22.to keep running down walls and turning defence into offence. It

:08:23. > :08:31.will take and believable forced to beat him. It must be horrible

:08:32. > :08:39.playing him. You talking about Djokovic? It is so noisy here, I can

:08:40. > :08:45.hardly hear anything. He is so difficult to attack. Coming into

:08:46. > :08:48.Djokovic's forehand is difficult, but backhand, I just don't see

:08:49. > :08:52.Djokovic off balance of the court service. We had to say that Agassi

:08:53. > :08:54.would stay on the baseline and dictate. With Djokovic, we have gone

:08:55. > :09:13.up another level. And he also still dictate. With Djokovic, we have gone

:09:14. > :09:18.has been unbeaten since the US open, so it is captivating. He looks

:09:19. > :09:23.polished on the outside and he is, but a real hard and man on the

:09:24. > :09:28.inside. He is a competitor, and his ego is immense. You need it. I am

:09:29. > :09:34.very impressed with Djokovic. We will talk later, because the LTA

:09:35. > :09:36.have announced that they are cutting their player performance budget.

:09:37. > :09:44.They are going to set the bar higher. The juniors watching the top

:09:45. > :09:49.eight here, it is not about how well you hit your forehand and backhand

:09:50. > :09:54.is, it is about the physical side. That is one of the aspects that you

:09:55. > :10:00.can control. Whether you can hit the two-handed running backhand is not

:10:01. > :10:01.easy, but in terms of your application, your hunger and desire,

:10:02. > :10:23.that, you can control. application, your hunger and desire,

:10:24. > :10:26.about the LTA. It is about the players accepting responsibility and

:10:27. > :10:30.using the opportunities they have got. We have got the facilities and

:10:31. > :10:33.lots of tournaments to play. Face it, when you see the biggest and

:10:34. > :10:38.best tournaments around the world, there is plenty of money to be made.

:10:39. > :10:42.So they have got to look at the example that has been set in Serbia

:10:43. > :10:48.and Argentina. They don't get funding, but they find a way to

:10:49. > :10:53.become world-class players. I accept all the points that Tim makes, but

:10:54. > :10:56.the LTA, if they are going to take people on, have a responsibility to

:10:57. > :11:01.give them the sort of help which will advance them . This is about

:11:02. > :11:04.coaching and guidance. From what I hear, that is still not always going

:11:05. > :11:09.on. You have got to have the right help in your camp. There are some

:11:10. > :11:14.people who still need central funding, perhaps not to begin, but

:11:15. > :11:33.to continue, because it is very expensive.

:11:34. > :11:36.to continue, because it is very right areas. Talent identification

:11:37. > :11:40.at a young age, from eight upwards, we want to make sure that from the

:11:41. > :11:45.pool of athletes in schools and clubs, we get our fair share laying

:11:46. > :11:49.tennis. That is where we don't do a good job. We lose those athletes to

:11:50. > :11:54.lots of other sports. We have world-class athletes. You only have

:11:55. > :11:57.to go back to our Olympic performance to know that we can

:11:58. > :12:01.compete with the best. When we have got the best athletes, we can then

:12:02. > :12:05.invest in them. And they do need support, because it is not cheap or

:12:06. > :12:09.easy. But I don't want to see money being spent in areas where you do

:12:10. > :12:15.not think you will get a return. That is a good example of how they

:12:16. > :12:21.brought back the age limit. After 24, you will not get any funding.

:12:22. > :12:25.And to be fair, you should be where you want to be by that age. Exactly.

:12:26. > :12:45.But who you want to be by that age. Exactly.

:12:46. > :12:48.for yourself! But if there is something special about somebody,

:12:49. > :12:54.there might be a sharpness which is not easy to slot in, and you have to

:12:55. > :12:59.work with those people. It is important that players give back 20%

:13:00. > :13:06.of their prize money to pay back what they have been helped with. It

:13:07. > :13:09.is time players had more incentive. There is plenty of incentive. We

:13:10. > :13:13.have the best tournament of the world at Wimbledon. We have the

:13:14. > :13:18.world tour finals. They have to look at that and have the hunger to

:13:19. > :13:24.succeed. That is not to save some of them don't, but for me, too much

:13:25. > :13:26.onus is on the LTA. Players are quick to say, I did not get this, my

:13:27. > :13:31.coach was not with me, quick to say, I did not get this, my

:13:32. > :13:34.have my fitness trainer. It is irrelevant. Get out there, put the

:13:35. > :13:57.work in, compete. irrelevant. Get out there, put the

:13:58. > :14:00.they have got involved and ruined the journey, from what I have been

:14:01. > :14:07.told. I have nothing to do with the system. That must sees happening.

:14:08. > :14:14.They need good advice and continuity going forward. If you have any

:14:15. > :14:17.views, get in touch. I am sure the boys might talk about this during

:14:18. > :14:23.commentary, but we have got a match to enjoy this afternoon. Stan

:14:24. > :14:27.Wawrinka knows he has got to come away with a win if he is to continue

:14:28. > :14:31.in this tournament. And he is up against one of the fittest

:14:32. > :14:36.competitors ever on court in David Ferrer, but how much has he got left

:14:37. > :14:38.in the tank? He has just had incredible tournaments recently. In

:14:39. > :14:45.Paris, he had one tough match after another, and his matches are not

:14:46. > :15:04.easy. He has to work so hard for every point.

:15:05. > :15:10.easy. He has to work so hard for fact that Ferrer is winless so far.

:15:11. > :15:16.It is a very big match. Here he comes, about to be introduced to the

:15:17. > :15:22.crowd. Lovely one-handed backhand, he has, possibly the best on tour,

:15:23. > :15:26.along with Federer. Richard Gasquet came second. It is a thing of

:15:27. > :15:31.beauty. Can he bring it to bear against the defence of Ferrer?

:15:32. > :15:33.Winner of four world tour titles, from Switzerland, Stanislas

:15:34. > :16:14.Wawrinka! the fifth time, the number three

:16:15. > :16:51.player in the world, from Spain, David Ferrer! Ladies and gentlemen,

:16:52. > :17:00.please thank this afternoon's Barclays mascots, Ben Boddington our

:17:01. > :17:01.other mascot, 86. So, the players are on court. It gets interesting

:17:02. > :17:22.towards the end this tournament are on court. It gets interesting

:17:23. > :17:28.the eight best players in the world. In the context of this match,

:17:29. > :17:33.my Ferrer can't go through, but it is the ones who finished the year on

:17:34. > :17:43.a high. Looking at him physically over the last few matches, he really

:17:44. > :17:47.needs to win the first set. If he loses, I don't know whether he will

:17:48. > :17:51.have enough energy in the tank to make comeback. I have been so

:17:52. > :17:59.impressed with the way he has been playing. He has been serving at 140

:18:00. > :18:03.miles an hour at times. He is one of the only guys with a single-handed

:18:04. > :18:07.backhand who can take the ball above shoulder height against Rafa's

:18:08. > :18:12.forehand and comeback offensively. Anyway, let's listen in. Lee dies,

:18:13. > :18:40.you know the conditions already. Two things.

:18:41. > :18:43.you know the conditions already. Two Start. If you are going to do the

:18:44. > :18:49.coin toss, you may as well get a picture to take home with you. David

:18:50. > :18:56.Ferrer, we have talked so much about him and how he has improved. He is

:18:57. > :19:02.such a great example to other players of his age, to show he can

:19:03. > :19:06.still improve his game. Absolutely. Success is about maximising your

:19:07. > :19:09.potential, and when you see him, at five foot nine, he does not have the

:19:10. > :19:14.enormous weapons of some of the other players, but in terms of his

:19:15. > :19:19.work ethic on the way he practices, the level of play he continues to

:19:20. > :19:24.deliver is incredible. He thoroughly deserves to be three in the world.

:19:25. > :19:42.He has played most matches on tour this year. He fights

:19:43. > :19:45.He has played most matches on tour did not last long. He was 17 years

:19:46. > :19:49.of age. We were talking about young British players and funding. At the

:19:50. > :19:55.age of 17, he spent a week on a building site and did not fancy that

:19:56. > :19:58.much, and he came back and dedicated himself to tennis. He is older than

:19:59. > :20:05.the dull, but Nadal has been the leader in Spain the seminary years

:20:06. > :20:06.now. Rafa can take some credit for Ferrer's improvement to number three

:20:07. > :20:26.in the world. And Spain continue to be very

:20:27. > :20:53.strong. So many of them. player, because when you are beating

:20:54. > :20:59.those types of people on clay, you go and play around the world. That

:21:00. > :21:14.is the system Andy Murray comes from. He spent 50 days in a hotel,

:21:15. > :21:19.no air-conditioning! Before go into the commentary box, we are hoping

:21:20. > :21:24.Andy Murray might inspire this country just as Rafa and those

:21:25. > :21:29.before have inspired Spanish players. Well, when Greg and Tim

:21:30. > :21:33.came along, I said it would take more than just having two great

:21:34. > :21:37.champions at the top of the game to get more people into the game. I

:21:38. > :21:40.still think that is the case, although Murray is certainly an

:21:41. > :21:43.inspiration. He has made a big firms to the numbers playing at junior

:21:44. > :22:02.level. But to the numbers playing at junior

:22:03. > :22:05.widespread as it could be. That could be a problem we never solve.

:22:06. > :22:10.If that is the case, it doesn't matter how many will board and

:22:11. > :22:15.champions we have. We have been trying to change that the decades.

:22:16. > :22:22.Anyway, Switzerland have also been doing well. What a year this guy has

:22:23. > :22:25.had. He was talking to Russell earlier this week about the changes

:22:26. > :22:31.he has made and the confidence he has gained this year. When I am on

:22:32. > :22:37.the court, I really feel I can beat the other player. I trust myself, I

:22:38. > :22:45.trust my game. I know I can beat that player. This year, I beat

:22:46. > :22:49.Murray twice. I beat Berdych. You are now working with the coach

:22:50. > :22:53.Magnus Norman. Is a major part of his role working on the mental side?

:22:54. > :23:11.I guess you can't do an enormous amount to improve

:23:12. > :23:17.I guess you can't do an enormous good guy. I can see that he has

:23:18. > :23:22.helped me a lot this year, and with my game a bit, too. We changed a few

:23:23. > :23:28.things with my forehand. I am happy with the way we are together. He has

:23:29. > :23:31.always been a really solid performer, but this year, he has

:23:32. > :23:36.gone into a whole different league. The backhand has always been

:23:37. > :23:42.beautiful, but the movement is still an issue. He is not the best mover

:23:43. > :23:46.but when you reflect on where he was prior to this year, he was a very

:23:47. > :23:52.good player and was consistently in the top 20, but the impact of Magnus

:23:53. > :23:56.Norman is one thing. Also, the tournament he played against

:23:57. > :24:00.Djokovic in Australia. They played five sets and he realised after

:24:01. > :24:03.that, playing for five hours with the best in the world, he thought,

:24:04. > :24:23.hang on, I can the best in the world, he thought,

:24:24. > :24:27.played well in the first match. This is his debut in the season-ending

:24:28. > :24:32.championship. He played a great match against Nadal. He has a belief

:24:33. > :24:38.that he can go out and put in a good performance. That match against

:24:39. > :24:43.Nadal, he had chances to win both sets. Absolutely, there were so many

:24:44. > :24:47.times when we were watching these rallies unfold and thinking, Nadal

:24:48. > :24:50.is not going to win this point. But he has the skill and tenacity to

:24:51. > :24:56.find a way to hit his passing shots and get the ball back one more time.

:24:57. > :25:01.At is why Wawrinka has played Nadal 12 times and never beaten him. We

:25:02. > :25:08.just saw Ferrer's coach. He must be having a hard week try to motivate

:25:09. > :25:13.his man, because he is physically exhausted. It is not a question of

:25:14. > :25:32.motivation, it is more how he can get this

:25:33. > :25:36.motivation, it is more how he can Wawrinka has a great opportunity to

:25:37. > :25:41.be aggressive. If he can look to hit the backhand down the line and keep

:25:42. > :25:56.Ferrer moving, it might be a step too far for Ferrer. If you want to

:25:57. > :26:03.get in touch, there are many ways. You can talk about the tennis or the

:26:04. > :26:07.LTA budgets. We are ready for this match. It is a must win match for

:26:08. > :26:13.Wawrinka. Let's enjoy it with Tim and Andy.

:26:14. > :26:22.Yes, Wawrinka versus Ferrer. Wawrinka has just one thing in mind.

:26:23. > :28:23.I have got to win. Ferrer is playing for pride.

:28:24. > :28:33.Big match tomorrow afternoon, two o'clock. Federer versus Del Potro to

:28:34. > :28:37.decide who joins Djokovic in the semifinal. Two groups of four here.

:28:38. > :28:39.The winners and runners-up from each group go through to the semis and

:28:40. > :29:04.final. can't lose them in the first round

:29:05. > :29:07.and not see them again. But for somebody like David Ferrer, even

:29:08. > :29:12.though he has no chance of going through, he still has to play. So it

:29:13. > :29:16.is about pride. Self-motivation is required, aided by the fact that

:29:17. > :30:15.he's performing in front of a full house here again.

:30:16. > :30:26.Tomas Berdych would have beat the towel in two sets -- to beat Nadal.

:30:27. > :30:33.Tim Henman has been looking to see how likely that is. Raffa has won 15

:30:34. > :30:43.in a row against Berdych! Including the Wimbledon final. Having beaten

:30:44. > :30:45.David Ferrer and Djokovic, Berdych found Rafa Nadal waiting for him, he

:30:46. > :31:24.was a bit overwhelmed that day. Madrid in 2006, and Tomas Berdych

:31:25. > :31:29.had a couple of things to say about the crowd and their behaviour in

:31:30. > :31:31.that match. Nadal was really cross with him, so cross he has been

:31:32. > :31:45.munching him ever since! Back to this match, Wawrinka 's

:31:46. > :31:51.serving has really impressed me. The speed down isn't working at the

:31:52. > :32:02.moment, but in his previous matches, he has been serving at one inch and

:32:03. > :32:09.40 plus. That is big. -- 140 plus. He got 144 out of his racket and

:32:10. > :32:31.body. I little extra adrenaline in the speed gun?

:32:32. > :32:56.It's the primary concern of all senior players, can we unblock the

:32:57. > :33:18.speed clock, please? Didn't need to be that good, such a

:33:19. > :33:19.good approach shot, he had the rare off the court. Robbery should have

:33:20. > :33:44.hit a backhand volley. -- bubbly. Massive match at the start of the

:33:45. > :33:53.year at the Australian Open, it was a fourth round match. Djokovic,

:33:54. > :34:05.defeating Wawrinka, from six - one, 5-2, down, winning in the fifth. It

:34:06. > :34:11.gave Wawrinka the belief, and he then has got a top-class coach

:34:12. > :34:14.appointed. When you reflect on his coach was my career, he made number

:34:15. > :34:20.two in the world, he was a workhorse, huge forehand, not

:34:21. > :34:26.totally dissimilar to Wawrinka, and just that experience and that extra

:34:27. > :34:27.bit of self belief in him has made the transformation from a top 20

:34:28. > :34:54.player into a top-10 player. Boyle put together. Fantastic

:34:55. > :34:58.regeneration of this entire area. This, one of the great entertainment

:34:59. > :35:06.values in the world. -- venues. They go right up to the rafters,

:35:07. > :37:19.wonderful setting. Legs seem to be working better than

:37:20. > :37:39.in the first match. He seems fired up enough, Ferrer.

:37:40. > :39:53.So nobody has made much of an impression so far against serve.

:39:54. > :40:01.Just to round up the chat we were having with Sue Barker, about club

:40:02. > :40:07.culture in the UK and accepting the clubs, now we have the structure

:40:08. > :40:13.that underpins where you grew up and where I grew up as well, the point

:40:14. > :40:18.is try to make is that they are quite small, generally speaking, and

:40:19. > :40:22.there is no restaurant attached, generally speaking. They are vitally

:40:23. > :40:42.important, is the bottom generally speaking. They are vitally

:40:43. > :40:46.individual sport, it takes up a lot of space, you have to utilise spaces

:40:47. > :40:52.where you can play tennis, but the reality is the clubs in the local

:40:53. > :40:56.areas are vital to give kids opportunities in every area, and

:40:57. > :41:01.when they have junior programmes, they have to be inclusive, you have

:41:02. > :41:07.to make sure you get the numbers up. There has got to be an outreach into

:41:08. > :41:12.the community. There is a club in Grantham which takes an inspiring

:41:13. > :41:19.individual to make it happen. Is that something the LTA should be

:41:20. > :41:21.looking at? I think they need to put the money back into the grassroots,

:41:22. > :43:18.that would be great. The problem for Ferrer, when he down

:43:19. > :44:26.the line, you don't hit a winner, you leave the whole court exposed.

:44:27. > :44:30.He hit so hard, it caught the top of the net and flew all the way over

:44:31. > :45:39.the baseline. Great play from Wawrinka, he is

:45:40. > :45:43.standing little bit further back from the baseline and soaking up the

:45:44. > :45:46.pressure, when he gets the chance to plot the right foot on his

:45:47. > :46:10.backhand, he drives it down the line.

:46:11. > :46:35.going to do on the forehand? Backhand is the one that will get

:46:36. > :46:40.the job done. He doesn't want to keep going to the back and if he's

:46:41. > :46:41.going to hit like that, that was an incredible shot, to get the spin and

:46:42. > :46:58.the angle. He has definitely got the semifinals

:46:59. > :47:14.on his mind. 140 mph, that is pumped! That

:47:15. > :47:20.sounded different, that was a real crack of the frame. You don't

:47:21. > :47:39.necessarily have two hits your spots at that speed.

:47:40. > :47:48.served against you? Probably the made 140 's. -- made. Roddick may

:47:49. > :48:06.be, Colin H. -- Karlovic. Was that the best serve

:48:07. > :48:11.you received, the Roddick serve? I think the best service bubbly

:48:12. > :48:18.Karlovic 's, but at six foot ten, he has got quite an advantage.

:48:19. > :49:03.He thinks he's Roger! Nice idea, good service but needed a bit more

:49:04. > :49:31.work on the half volley. Talking about their service, you

:49:32. > :49:37.mentioned Karlovic at six foot ten, but used banned the generation going

:49:38. > :49:41.back from there, with Ivanisevic, that was a wicked serve to receive,

:49:42. > :49:42.there was never any read on Ivanisevic,

:49:43. > :50:03.forget Sampras, a didn't have the fastest serve, but one of the most

:50:04. > :50:13.accurate, definitely one of the most aggressive second serves.

:50:14. > :50:20.Philippoussis? You never knew what he was going to serve, identity key

:50:21. > :50:24.new half the time! McEnroe had a great serve, he had his back turned

:50:25. > :50:29.to you when he threw the ball up, there are shots of him, it's his

:50:30. > :50:36.whole back, he rotates the body through, which side is it going to

:50:37. > :50:43.go? But certainly, Wawrinka, for sheer power, he is getting up there

:50:44. > :50:47.into the big league. It's not the most fluent, the most natural of

:50:48. > :50:51.motions, it is almost into parts, he rocks back, the ball goes up, and it

:50:52. > :52:45.the drive from Better choice of shot from Wawrinka.

:52:46. > :53:41.He put the volley away. That's the predicament for Ferrer,

:53:42. > :53:48.he didn't necessarily drop the ball short, whether it's backhand or four

:53:49. > :54:39.hands, he's going for it. -- forehands.

:54:40. > :54:45.serving for the set. Funny little gremlins come in, it's not quite so

:54:46. > :54:47.easy to to drive through the ball sometimes. At the way he has been

:54:48. > :55:10.serving, no problems. It's just so hard to approach the

:55:11. > :55:19.net. It was, but he didn't quite get the width. People used to be fine,

:55:20. > :56:02.not these days. -- deep used to be fine.

:56:03. > :56:15.That is fast, out wide, normally a bit slow out there.

:56:16. > :56:19.Wawrinka, hitting hard at the moment, will translate, serving for

:56:20. > :57:03.the first set. He knew that Ferrer was going to

:57:04. > :57:05.make him work for this game. A couple of unforced errors. Two break

:57:06. > :57:42.points. It's terrible when you're service

:57:43. > :57:48.motion gets interrupted, it doesn't always get you, but the ball just

:57:49. > :57:51.snuck past the net and the umpire may have thrown him off his rhythm,

:57:52. > :58:09.double fault and they break may have thrown him off his rhythm,

:58:10. > :58:19.clay-court event, Ferrer has one three events. Tomas Berdych hasn't

:58:20. > :58:22.won any, I can't believe you can be so consistently in contention this

:58:23. > :58:37.far into the season and not pick one up. He is playing the Masters, the

:58:38. > :58:47.slams, the big 500 events, and as Mr Djokovic, Nadal, Murray...

:58:48. > :58:56.The biggest problem is the lack of free facilities, we have a message

:58:57. > :59:01.here. Courts are often locked up. I will let Tim Henman ponder that will

:59:02. > :00:40.stop parks, another interesting area.

:00:41. > :02:25.A buoyant ending shop. I backhand cross from Wawrinka did a dip.

:02:26. > :02:32.It certainly did look a little bit long, but... It wasn't.

:02:33. > :02:51.It certainly did look a little bit was playing of the sort of game he

:02:52. > :02:56.might be able to cut right through. But he could not serve it out.

:02:57. > :03:34.Momentum is on the Spaniard's side. Quite surprised that Wawrinka has

:03:35. > :04:23.not requested a challenge on that. Lost a bit of composure, hasn't he?

:04:24. > :05:20.Certainly has. This is a bit dodgy. Wawrinka is

:05:21. > :05:22.only winning 27% of seconds of points. He needs to find that first

:05:23. > :05:52.serve rapidly. Such an effective shot, the backhand

:05:53. > :05:57.down the line. So many players don't move as well to their forehand as

:05:58. > :05:59.they do to their backhand. Why? I think because they practice moving

:06:00. > :06:36.to their left a lot more to run You can see Wawrinka 's body

:06:37. > :06:39.language, bouncing around, trying to get moving. He wants to stamp his

:06:40. > :08:03.authority again. We always get the old decibel count

:08:04. > :08:08.out a winning players at Wimbledon every year. But Ferrer is giving it

:08:09. > :08:12.a full on grunt in here. I don't think there is any possibility that

:08:13. > :08:16.he is gaining an advantage from it. This is what he does when he is

:08:17. > :08:18.really keyed into it. The volume goes up. He is on full grunt right

:08:19. > :08:38.now. goes up. He is on full grunt right

:08:39. > :08:45.first serve, but couldn't resist the penalty down the middle. But not for

:08:46. > :10:04.a lack of at least thinking about it.

:10:05. > :10:16.Just caught the outside edge. I don't have the Spanish, but that

:10:17. > :10:27.call had to have affected Wawrinka. I am not sure it did. He is saying

:10:28. > :10:29.it should be his point. I mean, they could be talking about the schedule

:10:30. > :10:33.of the Northern mind this weekend, actually, but I think that is what

:10:34. > :11:02.they are probably talking about. That was a brave second serve, and

:11:03. > :11:40.it was met with strength. What a game this is. That would be a bad

:11:41. > :11:42.miss at any stage. Ferrer did well to get the return back in play.

:11:43. > :12:12.Wawrinka just overhit. Gutsy second serve. But you can hear

:12:13. > :12:18.by Ferrer's reaction, he knew ye had to get that ball back in play. You

:12:19. > :12:20.don't want to be relying on 109 mile an hour second serves down the

:12:21. > :12:36.middle to stay in the game. Big expenditure of effort from the

:12:37. > :12:49.Spaniard in this game, trying to get the second break in a row.

:12:50. > :12:59.He is tough, isn't he? This is a brilliant game for him, win or lose.

:13:00. > :13:41.He has just been focusing. Should have made that one. He has

:13:42. > :13:47.got to get the ball back in play. If you look at the early part of this

:13:48. > :13:53.set, the first seven games, Wawrinka was up at 75% of first serves, now

:13:54. > :14:02.he is slipping down to 57%. Ferrer getting into a lot more rallies.

:14:03. > :14:55.The serving level has dropped a bit from Wawrinka, but in the early

:14:56. > :14:59.stages, he was the one getting the points. Now Ferrer is the one on the

:15:00. > :15:56.front foot, looking to hit the backhand down the line.

:15:57. > :16:05.He is on fire, Ferrer. He might break out of his shirt in a minute

:16:06. > :17:14.and go green! That is just a battle of the mind,

:17:15. > :17:19.and Ferrer has won it. Great credit to him. Wawrinka loses his serve for

:17:20. > :17:24.a second time in a row. He must be gutted with that. Got to hand it to

:17:25. > :17:30.Ferrer. Honestly, how many times does he hit within two or three

:17:31. > :17:35.inches of the line? Not many times. He plays with such safety, unless he

:17:36. > :17:38.has to. There is the lesson for young players going up. It is doing

:17:39. > :17:58.the basics well. served for the set was his

:17:59. > :18:03.opportunity. He made three unforced errors, and now he has got to break

:18:04. > :18:10.Ferrer's serve to stay in this first set. Ferrer plays with such a lot of

:18:11. > :18:16.margin. The physical work he puts in, he must absolutely adore it. To

:18:17. > :18:20.get this fit on this strong, you have to enjoy going through the pain

:18:21. > :18:27.barrier. At the age of 31, he has a career-high ranking. At the age of

:18:28. > :18:38.28, Wawrinka also had a career-high ranking. Tomorrow, Federer versus

:18:39. > :18:45.Del Potro. It is a straight play-off on BBC Two from 2pm to see who will

:18:46. > :18:46.join Novak Djokovic in the semifinals from that particular

:18:47. > :19:10.When Wawrinka served the set at 5-3, group. This group is

:19:11. > :19:14.When Wawrinka served the set at 5-3, he lost the first point. When Ferrer

:19:15. > :19:55.serves for it, he loses the first point.

:19:56. > :20:32.The first point of every game is important.

:20:33. > :20:41.Ferrer worked so hard. It was a 14 minute game to break serve, and 90

:20:42. > :20:53.seconds into this game, he is down 0-40.

:20:54. > :21:06.Amazing. That is the scoring system in tennis. Tie-break feels right.

:21:07. > :21:28.Doesn't look like anybody is going to be able to serve for it.

:21:29. > :21:29.Doesn't look like anybody is going nothing. I will take Stan, the two

:21:30. > :21:50.cups of tea. All right, I get David. Go and put the kettle on, Tim! Long

:21:51. > :22:40.way to go. Wawrinka will not be happy with the

:22:41. > :24:03.net cord in those first two rallies. Wawrinka just cannot believe that he

:24:04. > :24:13.has let Ferrer in. He made such good ground. He made good ground, and

:24:14. > :24:17.Ferrer did very well to put up the defensive wall and keep himself in

:24:18. > :24:18.the rally. Then it was a question of starting over again, and Wawrinka

:24:19. > :24:56.made the unforced error. How did that happen? It is not

:24:57. > :25:27.windy. He does not let negative thoughts

:25:28. > :27:18.linger too long, this one. Wawrinka's 29th unforced error. That

:27:19. > :28:01.is a lot. That is monstrous defence once again

:28:02. > :28:07.from David Ferrer. It goes to the Spaniard.

:28:08. > :28:30.Tim Henman is going to go and make me another

:28:31. > :28:34.SUE BARKER: while Andrew enjoys a nice couple of tea, I would take you

:28:35. > :29:58.through the qualifying procedure here.

:29:59. > :30:03.This group, with a lot of work to do and stand, with a lot of work to do

:30:04. > :30:11.if he is to continue in this tournament.

:30:12. > :30:18.I am slightly disappointed with my decision-making process when I

:30:19. > :30:24.backed Wawrinka for three tie-breaks and I have just seen his career

:30:25. > :30:54.tie-break record. Which is? Not good!

:30:55. > :31:02.The art to making a good bet is having all the information laid out

:31:03. > :31:10.in front of you! Looking at the others, Rafa and Berdych have much

:31:11. > :31:18.better records. I just happen to back the worst tie-break player in

:31:19. > :31:23.this tournament. It's only a cup of tea! It's not going to kill you. I

:31:24. > :31:58.don't like losing anything to you. first set. Nice to emphatically back

:31:59. > :32:13.it up. The best tie-break record, I don't

:32:14. > :32:21.have it in front of me... The first thing that strikes me is it is big,

:32:22. > :32:22.and it is beyond the service line. It is an effective return a lot of

:32:23. > :33:16.the time. Ferrer is challenging the call. The

:33:17. > :33:20.ball was called out. I think that's too long, you can't have a chat with

:33:21. > :33:45.the umpire and 30 seconds later, it was clearly out.

:33:46. > :33:52.This is such an important game for Wawrinka to get into this match. He

:33:53. > :33:57.said nothing but disappointment for the last 35 and it's all so. -- the

:33:58. > :35:39.last 35 minutes or so. The alarm bells should be ringing

:35:40. > :35:46.here for Wawrinka. It would be three consecutive games

:35:47. > :36:43.that he has lost his serve. He normally makes that shot with his

:36:44. > :36:45.eyes shut. Down a set, what is -- he has got to start cutting out these

:36:46. > :36:51.unforced errors. Mr Wawrinka is challenging the call,

:36:52. > :37:04.ball was called out. That ball was good, though, that was

:37:05. > :37:24.an ace. Everybody is tired at the end of the

:37:25. > :38:11.season. You Going back to the serve, Wawrinka

:38:12. > :38:15.was complaining that he asked the umpire how he thought it was and the

:38:16. > :38:18.umpire said out, then he challenged it and found it was in. Difficult

:38:19. > :38:35.job. A magnificent strike down the line,

:38:36. > :38:57.commended the Saint -- an important hold for Wawrinka, under pressure.

:38:58. > :39:03.commended the Saint -- an important rate lately. Participation fee is

:39:04. > :39:12.$142,000, good work if you can get it. And the undefeated champion?

:39:13. > :39:18.1.93 US. Plus you get that free pass on the

:39:19. > :42:59.river bus, coming up from the hotel. That is a seriously wound up man,

:43:00. > :43:16.even in front of mum and dad! Very unusual for Ferrer to get like this.

:43:17. > :43:44.He is in terrible shape now, wound up. I think it is a reflection

:43:45. > :43:47.on how hard he has worked all year, total energy, mentally and

:43:48. > :43:51.physically, is in the tank. When you are dealing with adversity and your

:43:52. > :43:55.batteries are fully charged, you can deal with it better but he is

:43:56. > :44:00.obviously fragile out there and he didn't play a good service game, to

:44:01. > :44:08.give Wawrinka a bit of momentum early in the set and use all what he

:44:09. > :44:12.thought of it. Let's have a look at that tries money, I was going

:44:13. > :44:19.through it in US dollars. -- prize-money.

:44:20. > :44:30.I think you'll find is last year 's.

:44:31. > :47:34.Strange match, topsy-turvy. Wawrinka the strongest in the first set until

:47:35. > :47:39.he served for it, Ferrer came back, couldn't hold, went to a break and

:47:40. > :47:50.Wawrinka won it. He has just smashed a racket and seen opportunities to

:47:51. > :47:55.go 2-0 up going to being 3-1 down. And that racket smash is really a

:47:56. > :47:57.product of fatigue from David Ferrer, playing his 84th match of

:47:58. > :48:19.And he has played seven weeks in a the year. He has other

:48:20. > :48:22.And he has played seven weeks in a row, that is a questionable

:48:23. > :48:26.schedule, especially for the number three in the world. It's not as

:48:27. > :50:20.though he was in a race to qualify for this.

:50:21. > :50:45.Some of you have learned 1500 dollars in

:50:46. > :50:50.five money, -- prize-money, after that you will have to pay back 20%

:50:51. > :50:55.of your prize money if you have taken funding from the LTA

:50:56. > :51:00.beforehand, and you can pay back only as much as you have taken out

:51:01. > :51:07.of the system in the first place. Can I move it on to say, why not set

:51:08. > :51:13.up a scouting system like in foot all? Loads of talent at local clubs

:51:14. > :51:19.in my area but no one to spot it. You have to spot it, the coaches

:51:20. > :51:23.have to be out there, given the opportunity to play the games, those

:51:24. > :51:27.other sports are our competitors, they have great scouts in football,

:51:28. > :51:50.we have to make sure we get these athletes playing tennis.

:51:51. > :51:51.we have to make sure we get these doubles orientated. Maybe. Clubs

:51:52. > :54:09.need indoor facilities to play all year round, says David.

:54:10. > :54:14.this. It's a bad error but a bad state of mind to be in when you are

:54:15. > :54:24.trying to take on Stanislas Wawrinka.

:54:25. > :54:32.The toys are coming out of the pram! Somebody that constantly lets off

:54:33. > :54:36.steam and has a bit of a word here and there that's one thing, but

:54:37. > :55:30.there is something a bit more volcanic about David Ferrer.

:55:31. > :55:35.Just gave the drop shot a big too much air, not the cleanest forehand

:55:36. > :58:55.Wawrinka is ever going to hit. Wawrinka, trying to make it through

:58:56. > :58:59.to the semifinals. Two Swiss in the event for the first time, Roger

:59:00. > :59:03.Federer will play Dell but true tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. -- Bill

:59:04. > :59:23.Triumph. It should be a fiery match. Take your pick. One of those will

:59:24. > :59:25.join Djokovic in the semifinals. That is the treat for tomorrow, but

:59:26. > :59:34.this is a highly intense match. Finding someone to practice with,

:59:35. > :59:58.says Josh, without having Finding someone to practice with,

:59:59. > :00:02.your house? O. Dot. They do cost money. That is right. With the

:00:03. > :00:08.combination of clubs and parks, we have really got to get the numbers

:00:09. > :00:13.up. Clubs are perhaps a bit more expensive. That is where, if the LTA

:00:14. > :00:20.can provide parks tennis for free, get more and more kids out there...

:00:21. > :00:24.That is the relationship with local authorities, which is a complicated

:00:25. > :02:16.issue, but it is looked at by the LTA.

:02:17. > :04:18.Good call from the umpire. Are you sure? Yes.

:04:19. > :05:08.Ferrer, can he climbed back into this set?

:05:09. > :05:15.We have seen Ferrer smash a racket and generally lose it like you have

:05:16. > :05:20.never seen him before. But when you are down, Tim, what techniques are

:05:21. > :05:23.there to stay engaged? That is right, it is the time when you have

:05:24. > :05:27.really got to stay in the moment. There is nothing you can do about

:05:28. > :05:53.the past. You have just got to focus on the

:05:54. > :05:59.One of the great things about tennis is that you are out there on your

:06:00. > :06:07.own, and you have to figure it out. There are no team-mates, no coaches

:06:08. > :06:09.coming out onto the court court, psychologists. You have got to work

:06:10. > :06:30.it out for yourself. What a game plan, Wawrinka. That is

:06:31. > :06:36.back to the controlled aggression of the first set. Wawrinka was the one

:06:37. > :07:04.that was patient, waited for his opportunity to push

:07:05. > :07:23.Super. Just cut the ball off. Came around it. Mum loves it. Lovely

:07:24. > :07:25.play. See the way it just moves on the court, away from the advancing

:07:26. > :07:45.baseline. He is sticking around, isn't he?

:07:46. > :08:06.David Ferrer, playing match 84. That break him down.

:08:07. > :08:12.David Ferrer, playing match 84. That is a lot of tennis. It has been a 15

:08:13. > :08:15.match winning year for Stan Wawrinka, who has really established

:08:16. > :08:22.himself in the top ten and had a career-high ranking of number eight.

:08:23. > :08:27.Why are players getting older at the top of the game? Why are the older

:08:28. > :08:33.men doing so well? It is something like 40% of the top 200 who are 30

:08:34. > :08:36.or over. It is a good question. Is it down to training techniques?

:08:37. > :08:43.Other players looking after themselves better now 's or figuring

:08:44. > :08:47.out how to get the maximum out of their games, and that takes time? Do

:08:48. > :08:57.you think the serving, the volleying or the lunging puts a strain on the

:08:58. > :09:16.body? On different surfaces? Stamina increases with age, in

:09:17. > :09:21.Open between Djokovic and Nadal. That has got to put a lot of strain

:09:22. > :09:27.on your body. Maybe it is a peculiar band of men at the top, in the

:09:28. > :09:31.nicest possible way. Tommy Haas, 35. And he has had some serious

:09:32. > :09:34.injuries. He had a couple of shoulder surgery is. It is like he

:09:35. > :10:02.has got his own operating theatre. And in both service games in the

:10:03. > :10:07.first set, they both played for first points. Wawrinka has got the

:10:08. > :10:27.first point. Will that make the first point. Will that make the

:10:28. > :10:35.only one point, but it just gives you a platform to build from. It is

:10:36. > :10:40.only one point. It is strange, but it is absolutely the way it is at

:10:41. > :10:41.pro level. And club level, too, but people don't think about the first

:10:42. > :11:47.point. Wawrinka does not want this went to

:11:48. > :11:55.last a long time. Just throw it up in the air. If they get into a

:11:56. > :12:16.baseline rally, Ferrer is dominating.

:12:17. > :13:13.Nice change-up that from Wawrinka. First serve percentage is

:13:14. > :13:21.He does in a second set what he couldn't do in the first. His

:13:22. > :13:32.chances of making the semifinal in this tournament are still alive.

:13:33. > :13:37.That is credit to him, because the momentum was with Ferrer. Ferrer had

:13:38. > :14:37.his physical, When people see that Ferrer has won

:14:38. > :14:42.eight points out of the ten when he comes to the net, they will wonder,

:14:43. > :14:46.why doesn't he come to the net more? He can, but it is not necessarily

:14:47. > :15:05.about the volleys, it is about the shot that

:15:06. > :15:15.you more about the approach shot. From Ferrer, in does, definitely. So

:15:16. > :15:19.we are all set here for a final set. It will be interesting to see who

:15:20. > :15:27.can get ahead, but because Ferrer has been troubled, to say the least,

:15:28. > :15:35.for the last half-hour. Is he going to try and dig out another Matt at

:15:36. > :15:42.the end of a long and arduous year? His opponent beat him in the final

:15:43. > :15:50.of another tournament. They have played twice on clay this year. The

:15:51. > :15:53.overall head to head during the two is seven matches to four to the

:15:54. > :16:17.Spaniard. is seven matches to four to the

:16:18. > :16:21.Centre Court, is it? No, you don't, but the most important aspect is the

:16:22. > :16:26.whole atmosphere. It is a packed stadium. There is a lot of energy.

:16:27. > :16:31.That is what Ferrer needs right now. He has got to say to himself in

:16:32. > :16:40.the changing room, OK, it has been a long year, a good year. I got one

:16:41. > :16:46.set. Let's lay it on the line and see if he can come out with a

:16:47. > :16:51.victory. The lights come back on at the end of TV commercial breaks

:16:52. > :16:57.around the globe. These victories are being beamed to many countries.

:16:58. > :17:02.It is a season-ending championship of a global sport. We are lucky to

:17:03. > :17:06.have it in London. The sport is staged beautifully here. It has

:17:07. > :17:57.already been extended once in this city. We

:17:58. > :18:01.These guys in general play with heavy spin, but this is a good

:18:02. > :20:25.example of flattening the ball out. So rarely seen before this year from

:20:26. > :20:32.Stan Wawrinka. He has just gone up a run. He was 17 or 18 in the world in

:20:33. > :20:35.April, and he has flown up into the top ten. He is so much more

:20:36. > :20:56.expressive now. You were talking about placement serving, Tim.

:20:57. > :20:57.expressive now. You were talking improved, but this is always a key

:20:58. > :21:15.statistic in matches. Every point is big at this stage,

:21:16. > :21:22.but he really wants to play a strong service game here. There is no

:21:23. > :21:48.stronger way to start a game than that.

:21:49. > :22:57.Three aces in a game, that is powerful.

:22:58. > :23:20.great start for Wawrinka. He has a great platform now to really put the

:23:21. > :24:25.pressure on again. See if he can get the double break.

:24:26. > :26:07.That was a take it or leave it shot. He was not wasting too much energy

:26:08. > :26:15.trying to get back in. So, going for broke, David Ferrer, who leads by

:26:16. > :26:18.example in the game. You cannot aspire to be more like anybody else

:26:19. > :26:24.if you are a young professional trying to play the game. I have just

:26:25. > :26:26.noted that he got his 500th career win this year. Quarterfinal the

:26:27. > :26:56.Australian open, by coming People are seeing themselves, and

:26:57. > :27:01.they don't all like it, up on the big screens here at the centre of

:27:02. > :27:02.the O2 Arena. It is one of the most successful entertainment venues in

:27:03. > :27:32.the world. You are on! Hello? So, 90 seconds off, and then the

:27:33. > :29:35.music stops and the action begins again.

:29:36. > :29:42.You have got to admire his sense of purpose here, Wawrinka. At the

:29:43. > :29:46.beginning of his third set, he came out from the changeover and gave it

:29:47. > :29:50.a bit of a Nadal, sprinting back. That is as much a message to his own

:29:51. > :29:55.systems as it is to his opponent at the other end. This would be a huge

:29:56. > :29:56.achievement, on his first visit to the season-ending championship, to

:29:57. > :30:15.make the semifinal. He has the season-ending championship, to

:30:16. > :30:16.Even if he does win, he still may not come through this group, but he

:30:17. > :30:47.probably will. No great drama on his service game,

:30:48. > :30:53.at some point in this set, Ferrer, you would think I would have a bit

:30:54. > :30:56.of a nibble at the serve. He would have thought, but if he carries on

:30:57. > :31:01.serving like that, he has turned around the ratio that was poor,

:31:02. > :31:27.winners two unforced errors, he has already hit six winners.

:31:28. > :31:39.Now, the Swiss will be allowing himself the luxury of thinking, two

:31:40. > :32:10.breaks, come on. What has the rear got left here? -- Ferrer?

:32:11. > :35:28.Has this guy got heart, all what? Wawrinka is thinking, two breaks and

:35:29. > :36:22.I am home and dry. Ferrer will not go away, it is not in his nature.

:36:23. > :37:26.That was brilliant thinking. It was good awareness, it was only an 84

:37:27. > :37:34.mph second serve, this one, you got the big shoulders -- shoulder turn

:37:35. > :37:41.here and ripped it down the line. For me, that is the best one hander

:37:42. > :37:46.in tennis. I was just thinking about Richard Gasquet, you can't believe

:37:47. > :37:54.how beautiful that was. He has got the slice, he has got the drop. And

:37:55. > :38:04.he recognises what a moment that was in the match. It's not over, but he

:38:05. > :38:25.can almost see the finish line. If he wins this, he has two wins,

:38:26. > :38:25.can almost see the finish line. If Nadal over Tomas Berdych? -- 15

:38:26. > :39:12.games in a row. What do you think Ferrer is thinking

:39:13. > :39:13.now? I think the change of ends, he could have been thinking, shall I go

:39:14. > :39:16.to the Maldives? Or could have been thinking, shall I go

:39:17. > :39:52.it's going to be uphill struggle. It's one of the best -- one of the

:39:53. > :40:01.best 3-set matches I saw this year was in the final at Miami. The rare

:40:02. > :41:20.-- Ferrer beating Murray in the heat and humidity.

:41:21. > :41:29.That 3-set contest in Miami, fitness was not an issue for Ferrer. He will

:41:30. > :41:52.not go away. Wawrinka, going to the weapon, the

:41:53. > :42:07.first serve. That's nine points out of ten when

:42:08. > :43:51.he has got the first serve in May have timed it any better.

:43:52. > :45:25.that is a respectful handshake from a great competitor in David Ferrer.

:45:26. > :45:51.Well done, Stan. You could build this as a tournament

:45:52. > :45:57.of champions, everyone in this field has earned their place, but what I

:45:58. > :46:02.saw from Wawrinka in the final set, playing the ultimate competitor,

:46:03. > :46:09.that was a glorious final set from the Swiss. Right from the word go,

:46:10. > :46:13.he laid out his intentions and he came forward, Ferrer have nothing to

:46:14. > :46:32.Nadal is expected to beat Thomas be ashamed of.

:46:33. > :46:40.Nadal is expected to beat Thomas Berdych, we will probably see

:46:41. > :46:46.Stanislas Wawrinka through to play the winner of the other group,

:46:47. > :47:17.that's the most likely scenario. Just under two hours and 20 minutes.

:47:18. > :47:24.Congratulations, that was some match with David. Yes, what can I say,

:47:25. > :47:42.Congratulations, that was some match Again, the crowd was amazing today,

:47:43. > :47:55.so thank you very much. It's your first world tour finals,

:47:56. > :48:02.you still have a chance to qualify, how nervous were you? It was a tough

:48:03. > :48:08.week already, but the atmosphere is so good, the court is one of the

:48:09. > :48:11.best, so I enjoyed playing here, I tried to focus on my tennis and I'm

:48:12. > :48:17.playing quite good so that important. I guess you will be a fan

:48:18. > :48:23.of Rafa Nadal now, because if he wins tonight, you go through to the

:48:24. > :48:31.semifinals! For sure, I am going to be a big fan of Rafa. I am going to

:48:32. > :48:33.tell Tommy to play good match, but I did my job all week, I did the best

:48:34. > :48:57.Yes, it has been a superb end forced I can

:48:58. > :49:02.Yes, it has been a superb end forced down Wawrinka, but he has two watch

:49:03. > :49:19.what happens tonight. But if Berdych wins, then Rafa and

:49:20. > :49:24.Thomas Berdych will go through. If Rafa gets one said, he will go

:49:25. > :49:29.through and avoid Djokovic. If Berdych wins in straight sets, he

:49:30. > :49:34.will go through as the winner of the group. You can follow that on the

:49:35. > :49:43.BBC sport website. Tomorrow, it is group B.

:49:44. > :50:03.BBC sport website. Tomorrow, it is difficult to break what was going to

:50:04. > :50:09.happen in those first couple of sets, Stan came out and played very

:50:10. > :50:13.good, he was dictating play from the back of the court, serving well and

:50:14. > :50:19.you felt he had the upper hand. But Ferrer, giving up is something he

:50:20. > :50:25.doesn't know the meaning of. Wawrinka didn't play a game -- great

:50:26. > :50:36.game when serving for the set, then it went to a tie-break, but Wawrinka

:50:37. > :50:39.slowly turned it around. Let's talk about David, because he showed in

:50:40. > :50:44.that second set how much this match meant to him. He couldn't qualify

:50:45. > :50:49.but he got so angry with himself because he just wants to win. We

:50:50. > :51:10.were posing the question, what is he playing for, pride, I had never

:51:11. > :51:15.were posing the question, what is he the champion. We have seen great

:51:16. > :51:18.matches before, but this year, he has just gone up a level, his

:51:19. > :51:26.willingness to express what he wants and share it with the crowd. I loved

:51:27. > :51:33.that date, they had a bit of a to do the other day, he was saying to

:51:34. > :51:40.Rafa, he is showing in the years. He looks like he is there to stay. We

:51:41. > :51:43.were talking about what he has improved, think it is his belief,

:51:44. > :51:49.and to be able to handle the big pressure points so much better. It

:51:50. > :51:52.is belief that he belongs, he can beat the best players in the world

:51:53. > :51:58.but also the belief to go for the shots at the most important moments.

:51:59. > :52:02.You saw match point, used all a break point, six feet behind the

:52:03. > :52:24.baseline, break point, six feet behind the

:52:25. > :52:29.near -- year next year. Let's watch this, it was wonderful. This is to

:52:30. > :52:36.secure the double break in the final set. He just came through, the

:52:37. > :52:41.racket head is a big behind where it normally would be, he just rip did

:52:42. > :52:45.down the line. This is a shot you would think about before you play

:52:46. > :52:50.it, you prepare it and if it's there, you let it go. From a

:52:51. > :52:55.technical point of view, when you see how still his head is and how

:52:56. > :53:00.Pfizer arm swings, that is why he hits the ball so cleanly if you are

:53:01. > :53:05.trying to swing that harden your head is moving around, you will make

:53:06. > :53:06.unforced errors, but that's the best single backhand in the game right

:53:07. > :53:33.now. It's a huge weapon for him. single backhand in the game right

:53:34. > :53:34.hear from someone who has produced two Wimbledon champions? I am

:53:35. > :53:44.talking about Judy Murray. She talks about what worked for her

:53:45. > :53:47.boys and the players she works for today. She went back to inspire some

:53:48. > :53:56.youngsters in her local primary school.

:53:57. > :54:03.Has anybody played tennis before? Quite a few of you. Do any of you

:54:04. > :54:11.know any famous tennis players. Who do you know? Andy Murray? You know

:54:12. > :54:18.that he went to the school? And his brother Jamie, and I came to the

:54:19. > :54:20.school as well. I am very keen, in Scotland, that there is a legacy

:54:21. > :54:40.from Andy and Jamie? Scotland, that there is a legacy

:54:41. > :54:47.these things we set up here are things we used to do at home. We

:54:48. > :54:49.were a normal family, we didn't have space and the weather in Scotland is

:54:50. > :54:55.terrible so you are looking for things to do in doors to occupy

:54:56. > :55:00.young, active children. The balloon game they played in the hall was

:55:01. > :55:10.probably a favourite. A balloon costs next to nothing, you fill it

:55:11. > :55:13.with a feud grains of rice, so it is buzzing, but they put a piece of

:55:14. > :55:18.rope across the radiator to the wall, and then they would back the

:55:19. > :55:24.balloon back and forth, so whenever it bounced on your side, it touched

:55:25. > :55:28.the carpet, that was a point to the other side. That game would keep

:55:29. > :55:50.them entertained for hours. other side. That game would keep

:55:51. > :55:53.enjoyed sports, and I knew if they had good coordination, it wouldn't

:55:54. > :55:58.matter which sport they wanted to try when they got older. So we

:55:59. > :56:02.played loads of games like these in the garden, in the house, and I'm

:56:03. > :56:08.convinced this is what helped develop that coordination that

:56:09. > :56:13.allowed them to be good at an number of sports. Andy was not just a great

:56:14. > :56:17.tennis they are, he was an incredible footballer when he was

:56:18. > :56:29.13, 14. He gave that up to play tennis. Under the ball! Lift it up.

:56:30. > :56:34.It's non-competitive and its nonthreatening. They're having fun,

:56:35. > :56:38.but they're starting to develop some of the skills you would need, but

:56:39. > :56:40.done on a regular basis, there is no question you could make these kids

:56:41. > :57:11.into good athletes. If you want to find out more, you

:57:12. > :57:15.can on the website. I learned from my family, my mum and dad and

:57:16. > :57:22.brother and sister, that got me started on the hard court. Likewise,

:57:23. > :57:27.my mum side of the family, there is some tennis history there, armament

:57:28. > :57:32.dad played, we played all sports growing up and I think that is where

:57:33. > :57:35.she is spot on, you want them to be doing different things so they are

:57:36. > :57:40.working on their hand eye coordination, there athletic

:57:41. > :57:46.ability, you look at these guys, if you give them a ball to throw, kick

:57:47. > :57:51.or catch, they will be get at it. I think that's important. My brother

:57:52. > :58:35.David, We are going to leave you with Novak

:58:36. > :58:37.Djokovic 's choice of music. AC/DC - "TNT".
