:00:00. > :00:15.Good evening. We are down to the final tournament match of the year

:00:16. > :00:22.and the stakes could not be higher. One match for number one. It does

:00:23. > :00:27.not get any better than this. The dream of ending the year as world

:00:28. > :00:31.number one continues. An all-time great and he may be the greatest

:00:32. > :00:40.when all is said and done. It will be an amazing atmosphere and

:00:41. > :00:45.special match. There will be a lot of excitement, a lot of emotions. I

:00:46. > :00:49.have given myself a chance against some of the best players in the

:00:50. > :00:54.history of sport. In the history of tennis we have never have the two

:00:55. > :01:03.best players battle for world number one at the last match of the season.

:01:04. > :01:07.What a fitting finale to an extraordinary year at the Barclays

:01:08. > :01:12.ATP World Tour Finals with the two best players in the world bidding

:01:13. > :01:17.for the trophy and world number one ranking. Tim Henman and one of the

:01:18. > :01:24.legends of the sport are with us, Stefan Edberg. Thanks for joining

:01:25. > :01:28.us. Is this what tennis is all about, the big matches? This is a

:01:29. > :01:32.grand finale, the two best players of the year playing for the number

:01:33. > :01:37.one spot for the year in the ATP finals, so I am delighted to see

:01:38. > :01:43.that. Did you relish those matches? Playing against the best players,

:01:44. > :01:48.that is what you thrived on. That is how you really enjoyed the tennis.

:01:49. > :01:53.The big moments, that is what you remember the most. Did you love

:01:54. > :01:58.playing in this event? I liked playing in the Masters as it was in

:01:59. > :02:03.my days. Always the best players, but at the same time it was a tough

:02:04. > :02:08.tournament. You could not have a slow start. You needed to get going

:02:09. > :02:14.and keep on playing. Every statistic you look at, it is amazing, Murray

:02:15. > :02:20.and Djokovic. The year has been a year of two halves with Djokovic

:02:21. > :02:25.dominant until the French Open. 16,000 points, 8000 points in front

:02:26. > :02:32.of Murray and in the second half, Andy Murray has been impressive,

:02:33. > :02:36.Wimbledon, he won the Olympics, that did not count towards rankings. We

:02:37. > :02:40.have kept our fingers crossed and hoped this could be the final

:02:41. > :02:43.matchup. They got through to the final by different routes that is

:02:44. > :02:49.great we have this match to look forward to. Andy Murray had a tough

:02:50. > :02:53.match against Kei Nishikori, and a tough match yesterday against Milos

:02:54. > :03:01.Raonic, three hours, 38 minutes, and he had to save a match point. ANDREW

:03:02. > :03:06.CASTLE: We will have a tie-break to decide the place in the final. You

:03:07. > :03:15.are kidding me. Match point saved. Now the match point on his own

:03:16. > :03:25.serve. Now he has hit a slice along. Murray has seen three match points

:03:26. > :03:33.come and go. Match point. Milos Raonic. It is match point, Murray.

:03:34. > :03:40.And it is all over. A year of firsts for Andy Murray continues. It was a

:03:41. > :03:46.hard match. It was not that it was physically hard, it was mentally

:03:47. > :03:49.tough. It was pretty stressful. You can probably tell from the

:03:50. > :03:55.atmosphere behind me, the players are making their way. Andy Murray

:03:56. > :04:00.will have thousands of fans at the O2 but he has many supporters around

:04:01. > :04:08.the world. Come on, Andy, you can do it. The boys are cheering you on in

:04:09. > :04:14.India. Me, Jamie and the boys will be rooting for you. Good luck, Andy,

:04:15. > :04:19.you have always been our number one. Go and win it. Good luck, tonight,

:04:20. > :04:29.hope you smash it. You can do this. You are world number one and should

:04:30. > :04:36.stay number one. It is Honey G. When you say Andy, you say? I do not

:04:37. > :04:41.know. Everybody has taken him, everybody appreciating him so much.

:04:42. > :04:50.It has been a journey. When he came on the scene, 18, 19, always a

:04:51. > :04:55.confrontational character. But when you sense the atmosphere here it is

:04:56. > :05:02.incredible. It has taken time for people to warm to him. Novak

:05:03. > :05:16.Djokovic bidding to finish as world number one for the third consecutive

:05:17. > :05:17.year, his fifth in six years. The five-time tournament champion from

:05:18. > :05:40.Serbia. Novak Djokovic! CHEERING.

:05:41. > :05:49.Ladies and gentlemen, making his eighth appearance at the Barclays

:05:50. > :05:54.ATP World Tour Finals, winner of 43 titles, including 14 ATP Masters

:05:55. > :05:59.1000s and three Grand Slam singles crowns, the 2016 Wimbledon champion

:06:00. > :06:02.and the world number one, from Great Britain, Andy Murray!

:06:03. > :06:34.CHEERING. That was pretty special. A standing

:06:35. > :06:41.ovation for the players. They deserve it. It will be a great

:06:42. > :06:47.match, an interesting match. Andy has played long matches. We will see

:06:48. > :06:51.how he copes today. This is his chance today. Looking at the match

:06:52. > :06:57.against Milos Raonic, you worry how much more he has left. It is amazing

:06:58. > :07:01.to think with one of the biggest servers, playing in an indoor match

:07:02. > :07:06.going on three hours 45 minutes and on the back of three hours and 20

:07:07. > :07:14.against Kei Nishikori. Djokovic came through his semifinal in an hour,

:07:15. > :07:21.6-1, 6-1 against Nishikori. Murray loves that element. He will need to

:07:22. > :07:26.go out and put in one epic performance and if anyone can at

:07:27. > :07:32.this stage of the year it is him. The match yesterday, he battled so

:07:33. > :07:35.hard. The end was dramatic. It was an extraordinary match, probably one

:07:36. > :07:43.of the better matches I have watched in a long time. It had drama. Tens

:07:44. > :07:52.at times, playing great at times. It was a great ending to the match.

:07:53. > :07:58.Fantastic. It really was. The Hawk-Eye system works on this court.

:07:59. > :08:29.Any questions? Heads. This is tales. Tails. That is a photograph to

:08:30. > :08:33.treasure. What a moment to take that one home. Two great players bidding

:08:34. > :08:38.for the number one spot. We will hear from the players. Yesterday,

:08:39. > :08:44.Andy proved he has a knack of getting himself out of seemingly

:08:45. > :08:49.impossible situations. I did not expect to be in this position seven

:08:50. > :08:54.weeks ago. I have won every match I have played since then and I am

:08:55. > :09:02.still not there. I said it would be extremely difficult to do. At least

:09:03. > :09:07.I have given myself a chance. Against one of the best players in

:09:08. > :09:11.the world, one of the best players in the history of our sport. Even

:09:12. > :09:18.though you have not played him since Roland Garros, will you approach

:09:19. > :09:29.this match is a different state of mind? My mind will be the same. The

:09:30. > :09:36.matches played in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros, they were tough

:09:37. > :09:43.matches, hard-fought matches. I am playing better tennis than I was

:09:44. > :09:48.then. The way you approach the match is the same, you go out with the

:09:49. > :09:55.idea you are going to win. And, hopefully with a successful game

:09:56. > :09:58.plan. We have seen him play Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic but the

:09:59. > :10:02.biggest test is today because he will be made to work so hard. I

:10:03. > :10:08.could not hear the interview, it was so loud in here, but I think I got

:10:09. > :10:14.the gist of it. They go back such a long time. They met in junior tennis

:10:15. > :10:19.at 11 and to have had many battles and though each other's games. They

:10:20. > :10:24.have similar games and matchup will stop Djokovic has come out on top

:10:25. > :10:28.more, but I think Murray, the way he has come through the rankings,

:10:29. > :10:33.serving his time with Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Djokovic and he has

:10:34. > :10:38.got to number one and wants to hang onto it. I know he will lay it all

:10:39. > :10:43.on the line out there. What impresses you most about Andy? He

:10:44. > :10:48.has been working so hard, for so long. He is a fighter. He has been

:10:49. > :10:55.challenged with the great players from Federer, Rafa Nadal, Djokovic.

:10:56. > :11:00.Winning Wimbledon twice, the Olympics. He is turning out to be a

:11:01. > :11:04.great player and here he is today with a great chance of finishing at

:11:05. > :11:11.number one, which will be very special to him, if he does, but it

:11:12. > :11:15.will not be easy. Novak has won here before and I am sure he wants to win

:11:16. > :11:21.again. People talking about the slump he had but he is getting

:11:22. > :11:30.better with every match here. Eating Kei Nishikori 6-1, 6-1.

:11:31. > :11:35.I try to influence what I can at this present moment, getting myself

:11:36. > :11:38.ready and in the right state of mind, preparing mentally,

:11:39. > :11:47.physically, emotionally for whatever is going to happen. Surely there

:11:48. > :11:53.will be a lot of excitement and emotions and that is always the case

:11:54. > :11:58.when the play. It is a great occasion, the O2 Arena, last match

:11:59. > :12:04.of year. There is a lot on the line but my mindset is just right now, in

:12:05. > :12:08.this moment. He may have had problems, they have been documented,

:12:09. > :12:14.but this week, he looks like he has the eye of the champion again. That

:12:15. > :12:19.is right. When you set the bar as high as he did, winning four Grand

:12:20. > :12:24.Slams in a row, there is only one way to go and that is probably down

:12:25. > :12:30.but he made the final of the US Open and won Masters Series in Canada. He

:12:31. > :12:34.had surprising losses. In his match against Dominic Thiem, losing the

:12:35. > :12:44.first set, but after that, he found his rhythm. Beating him 6-0, 6-2 in

:12:45. > :12:48.the second and third. He has been number one a long time and will not

:12:49. > :12:51.give up the ranking without a fight. They love their matches and to

:12:52. > :12:56.challenge and Djokovic is desperate to get the number one ranking back.

:12:57. > :13:02.You have had rivalries with Ivan Lendl, Boris Becker. Having the

:13:03. > :13:06.number one is important. It is so important because you will not get

:13:07. > :13:11.many chances. That is what counts, at least it did to me, finishing

:13:12. > :13:16.number one for the year. I did it two years in a row and almost three

:13:17. > :13:22.years and could not make it that year and was disappointed. This will

:13:23. > :13:28.be a final showdown. There is the next year coming up and there will

:13:29. > :13:31.be more chances. Andy, 122 weeks Djokovic was world number one and he

:13:32. > :13:37.has only had it two weeks, he is desperate to hold onto it. The

:13:38. > :13:41.context of being number one. Andy has achieved that but there is a

:13:42. > :13:46.difference between being number one and finishing the year number one.

:13:47. > :13:50.It does not need us to explain the importance of this match. It is best

:13:51. > :13:57.of three sets and they have leave it all on the line and see who comes

:13:58. > :14:05.out on top. This match means so much to them. Andy Murray, you have to

:14:06. > :14:11.think, can his body get back out on court and have enough left in the

:14:12. > :14:15.tank? As I see it, the last match of the season, he is probably tired,

:14:16. > :14:20.but he is strong enough. It is more of a mental game to pull through

:14:21. > :14:26.here. I think he can do it but it will be tough. He will probably work

:14:27. > :14:32.really hard, but more of a mental game. As far as Murray is concerned,

:14:33. > :14:39.in practice today he was going for the shots. He does not want long

:14:40. > :14:43.rallies. Look at the different scenarios how he can come up with a

:14:44. > :14:48.strategy. The longer the match, it will favour Djokovic. Andy Murray

:14:49. > :14:54.has to look to be proactive to take the ball on and go for his shots. I

:14:55. > :15:01.think the crowd have a part to play, to lift Andy and give him that extra

:15:02. > :15:05.energy. In the past, we have seen Djokovic frustrated when he is not

:15:06. > :15:10.crowd favourite. If that can give Andy Murray the extra per cent, so

:15:11. > :15:17.be it. He has Ivan Lendl in his corner and you know him well. He is

:15:18. > :15:22.a bit scary? Lendl is Lendl and will always be the same, but he is a

:15:23. > :15:27.character. He has been good for Andy and he is probably happy to have him

:15:28. > :15:32.in the box. Boris Becker is with Djokovic and they have done an

:15:33. > :15:37.amazing job. Djokovic did not become a bad player overnight, he had those

:15:38. > :15:42.problems. He has worked hard mentally to get himself back. He has

:15:43. > :15:47.not changed as a tennis player physically and technically since

:15:48. > :15:51.Wimbledon but mentally he has not been as focused. There has been an

:15:52. > :15:57.element of frustration in his game. We have seen how he has been touchy

:15:58. > :16:02.in the press conference with questions about his attitude. Those

:16:03. > :16:06.are elements Andy Murray will have in the back of his mind to go out

:16:07. > :16:14.there and be as resilient and give 100% and see what happens. We are

:16:15. > :16:22.set for this match. Stefan Edberg, who will you pick as a winner? I

:16:23. > :16:26.have to be pretty honest and thinking about it I think there is a

:16:27. > :16:33.slight advantage for Djokovic in this final but it would be nice for

:16:34. > :16:37.Murray to win it. Djokovic has won it many times before. Lovely to see

:16:38. > :16:45.you again. We are set for this wonderful match. Tim is on his way

:16:46. > :16:47.to join Andrew Castle. Andrew Castle, thanks.

:16:48. > :16:56.Listen to this. CHEERING. Good news for Andy Murray

:16:57. > :17:03.and his fans, this is best of three sets, not five. Hours extra on court

:17:04. > :18:19.compared to his opponent, we will see how that tells.

:18:20. > :18:28.An important point for Andy Murray to win.

:18:29. > :18:38.The reason why I said the first set is important, obviously Murray is

:18:39. > :18:43.exhausted. Djokovic has won 19 and lost zero against Murray when he has

:18:44. > :18:59.won the first set. Mr Djokovic has challenged the call.

:19:00. > :19:03.Pretty confident, I think. Standing his ground on the deuce court. Down

:19:04. > :19:53.the middle and ace. Two double faults in the first game.

:19:54. > :20:01.You do not know whether it is nerves, I doubt it. Settle the body

:20:02. > :20:03.down. Been through a bit of a trauma with three hours and 40 against

:20:04. > :20:46.Milos Raonic just yesterday. Ladies and gentlemen, as a courtesy

:20:47. > :21:12.to the players, do not use flash photography during the point.

:21:13. > :21:25.And Djokovic disturbed as much no doubt by the fact that... That is

:21:26. > :21:31.the issue. They go on automatically. You do not even realise when you are

:21:32. > :21:36.looking. Probably upset that he is missing the ball. He has an opponent

:21:37. > :21:43.to double faulted twice and then lost every point when the ball was

:21:44. > :21:47.in play. You might think the players are being pedantic with flashlight

:21:48. > :21:52.photography, but the lighting in the stadium, it is darker within the

:21:53. > :22:26.crowd, so when someone uses the flashy really does distract you.

:22:27. > :22:34.Stretching back to that magnificent Wimbledon final of 2013, Djokovic

:22:35. > :22:41.has won 13 of the 15 matches played against Andy Murray. He has won

:22:42. > :22:42.three of the four matches this year, including the Australian and French

:22:43. > :23:28.Open finals. Three straight Wimbledon finals

:23:29. > :23:40.against our studio guest, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker.

:23:41. > :23:47.This week there is a direct comparison to make between the

:23:48. > :23:53.players. They both played los Raonic and Kei Nishikori, the two longest

:23:54. > :23:54.matches ever in London, Murray against those opponents. Djokovic

:23:55. > :24:14.beat one of them one and one. I think this would be a diverse and

:24:15. > :24:20.effort, possibly the best of the year, if Murray can come through

:24:21. > :24:23.under these circumstances in this match, to claim world number one,

:24:24. > :24:30.with everything that has happened this week.

:24:31. > :24:39.I think that it really is a reflection on his career how he has

:24:40. > :24:44.had so many hurdles in front of him and he has kept finding a way to get

:24:45. > :26:15.over them. This is certainly a high hurdle to finish with.

:26:16. > :26:22.Those muscles on rallies like this will be tested. Contracting and

:26:23. > :26:26.squeezing the lactic acid around the system. Djokovic will look to

:26:27. > :27:00.stretch Murray early on. That is lucky, because not just a

:27:01. > :27:08.dead net cord, it looked like it was going out.

:27:09. > :27:23.Yes, it was. Just lengthening the game, Djokovic. Very early stages,

:27:24. > :27:51.still looking at Murray and wondering how he is physically.

:27:52. > :28:03.And that is away. Another hold for Andy Murray. The final of the

:28:04. > :28:07.Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. We have talked about Ivan Lendl and

:28:08. > :28:12.Boris Becker but Jamie Delgado has made a massive difference to Andy

:28:13. > :28:18.Murray. SUE BARKER: Top with this part of the team. The resilience he

:28:19. > :28:21.has under these sorts of matches and mental toughness and physical

:28:22. > :28:26.toughness that he has shown for a long time, but yesterday was

:28:27. > :28:30.something special. You have been hitting with him, how was he?

:28:31. > :28:35.Hitting the ball great, super-confident. Part of the issue

:28:36. > :28:39.today will be to see how fresh he is but I have seen him in tough

:28:40. > :28:44.situations where he finds that little bit extra. I think today will

:28:45. > :28:48.be a great data show that again. It looked like he was attacking the

:28:49. > :28:53.ball in practice. It is something he has worked on this year, to be more

:28:54. > :28:59.aggressive and when you play Novak, the matches he has done well against

:29:00. > :29:05.him, he has dictated play, using his forehand in the middle of the court.

:29:06. > :29:09.He had a tough group and a tough match against Kei Nishikori and

:29:10. > :29:15.Milos Raonic and Djokovic sell-through, it has to be an issue?

:29:16. > :29:19.It is, we cannot hide from that. But he has played excellent tennis,

:29:20. > :29:25.beating three top five players this week. In terms of freshness,

:29:26. > :29:29.Djokovic had to be easier path but we feel Andy has been playing the

:29:30. > :29:33.better tennis the last few months and that will give him an edge in

:29:34. > :29:36.confidence. He has won four straight

:29:37. > :29:47.tournaments. That is your old schoolmates. Did you go to school?

:29:48. > :29:56.Briefly. I think Jamie was there even more briefly. He did a great

:29:57. > :30:06.job with Muller, taking him to top 50. And joined Andy Murray 's team

:30:07. > :30:12.in March which coincided with his fortunes turning.

:30:13. > :30:22.Woody Harrelson is here. Sitting next to Chris Kermode's Y. Chris is

:30:23. > :30:51.the boss of the ATP. Clive Owen is down there. He would

:30:52. > :30:57.have been a good James Bond. Sebastien Schweinsteiger, the four

:30:58. > :33:23.order is there somewhere. -- the footballer.

:33:24. > :33:30.We have seen in the past months Djokovic a little bit distracted on

:33:31. > :34:06.the court, but he has his game face on tonight.

:34:07. > :34:16.Great news for Murray, if Djokovic is missing those. 15-15, second

:34:17. > :34:50.serve. He has not totally settled, has he?

:34:51. > :34:56.Judy Murray is here and his dad is getting married in a couple of

:34:57. > :35:44.weeks' time. 56% first serve percentage this

:35:45. > :35:57.week. And he pops one out wired and takes

:35:58. > :36:06.another game. This is the start he wanted, certainly. How do you think

:36:07. > :36:22.he is doing? Please get in touch. Happy to hear from you.

:36:23. > :36:31.Do get in touch. How do you assess the opening stages, Tim?

:36:32. > :36:38.He's done very well. We saw in his opening games very tight. He's done

:36:39. > :36:45.a good job. Holding on to his serve. At the other side of the net

:36:46. > :36:49.Djokovic has looked very efficient. I don't think either player will be

:36:50. > :36:54.unhappy with how the match has started. It will be interesting to

:36:55. > :36:58.see who can really create the first opportunity. 15-30, a break point

:36:59. > :37:04.and look to stamp their authority on this first set.

:37:05. > :37:09.Hasn't lost in London this year. Andy Murray, Wimbledon champion for

:37:10. > :37:13.the second time. Queens' champion for a second time. Beating Raonic.

:37:14. > :37:19.Could have easily have lost to Raonic. He did the good thing and

:37:20. > :37:23.gave us the final that we wanted in this magnificent entertainment

:37:24. > :37:32.venue. Nine million people come here each year to watch music and sport.

:37:33. > :37:34.It is pretty easy to get here as well, particularly on the Jubilee

:37:35. > :37:40.Line to North Greenwich. Can Murray mount a challenge against

:37:41. > :38:54.the world number two? Again a good forehand from Murray.

:38:55. > :38:59.Djokovic left the ball in the middle of the court and it can be the one

:39:00. > :39:15.shot that's a little bit more erratic for Murray.

:39:16. > :39:40.Djokovic has only lost one point on serve.

:39:41. > :41:54.The sound of the feet, the rubber against the floor here - gorgeous.

:41:55. > :41:59.. Even though Murray lost points and with a backhand, he was really

:42:00. > :42:32.crunching the ball. Crunching the backhand some of the

:42:33. > :42:37.time, but that was a vicious slice. The ball kept so low. Djokovic

:42:38. > :43:40.couldn't get underneath it. Second break point for Murray.

:43:41. > :43:44.Credit where credit's due. Not an easy volley there, but Djokovic

:43:45. > :44:11.really stayed down well on the ball. Does that catch the? He's let that

:44:12. > :44:16.go. He didn't feel the need, so Djokovic

:44:17. > :44:49.is guilty of ball watching there. Amazing.

:44:50. > :45:41.He's hit it so low on the racket that it has fallen right up.

:45:42. > :46:24.Should never have missed a shot like that.

:46:25. > :46:35.This was the second serve. Murray's questioning. He could have gone and

:46:36. > :46:38.looked at it. At the end of the day, he's closest to the ball. Look at.

:46:39. > :46:42.This it would have been another break point.

:46:43. > :47:23.You don't like to stop and if you are sure, how can you be on a serve?

:47:24. > :47:30.What a return from Andy Murray! Djokovic managed to knock it back to

:47:31. > :47:34.a length. That was a fascinating ten minutes. Two break points for

:47:35. > :47:44.Murray. Unable to capitalise.

:47:45. > :47:50.The second serve at deuce was out. Murray knows that. There's nothing

:47:51. > :47:53.he can do about it now. It is important he really engages in this

:47:54. > :50:48.game, especially having a few chances.

:50:49. > :50:56.It has been a fantastic starter Andy Murray. All the questions about his

:50:57. > :51:01.physicality, so compliments to him, his physical team, his dietary

:51:02. > :51:05.regime has worked. The rub-downs. It is all the training that has gone on

:51:06. > :51:14.before. Still talking about that second serve which could have been

:51:15. > :51:18.called a double fault. He did not overrule that one. Credit to the

:51:19. > :51:29.team. It has been a great for British tennis Er as well.

:51:30. > :51:44.Jo Konta. 67, Dan Evans, that is a huge rise. And Andy Murray.

:51:45. > :51:48.Carl Edmond will work with Andy Murray, which is such an advantage,

:51:49. > :51:58.isn't it? To have someone of Murray's calibre,

:51:59. > :52:05.to see him in the off season, when they go to their block training to

:52:06. > :52:14.Miami, I am sure he's been a big influrns on his career and Jo Konta,

:52:15. > :52:19.she has a great influence on the women's game.

:52:20. > :52:24.Carl Edmond has a couple of weeks of training. Just physicality and he's

:52:25. > :52:27.come back from shark diving. He's got the video to prove it, with

:52:28. > :52:37.Great Whites in South Africa. Murray verses Djokovic. Final of

:52:38. > :53:00.London, 2016. Djokovic has restored faith in his

:53:01. > :53:51.smash. A little bit off balance. Too much

:53:52. > :56:48.left-hand dragged it into the net. Murray has established himself in

:56:49. > :56:50.another Djokovic service game. Looking for a second serve to really

:56:51. > :58:21.jump on and dominate the points. Wonderful forehand, a break of

:58:22. > :58:38.serve. It is Murray 5-3 up. Serving for the set.

:58:39. > :58:46.This was an enormous drain on his resources, mentally and physically.

:58:47. > :58:53.He came out here. He looked white on the court, drained of energy. This

:58:54. > :59:02.is superb. 42 minutes and, I wouldn't say he looks unbelievably

:59:03. > :00:31.fresh, but he's moving so well. Never beaten Djokovic indoors.

:00:32. > :00:34.Doesn't want to trade blows with Murray, does he? He's making

:00:35. > :01:45.mistakes. 'S that is Murray's resilience, how

:01:46. > :01:58.stubborn he is when they get into the backhand exchanges across court.

:01:59. > :02:23.Murray is saying, I am not going to miss.

:02:24. > :02:39.Errors are flying because of the man he is playing. Three quarters of an

:02:40. > :02:41.hour of great intensity in the final match of the season-ending

:02:42. > :03:19.championships. They are playing for the top spot.

:03:20. > :03:29.Well, that is, for me, something of a turn up. I do not know how you

:03:30. > :03:33.feel about it at home, but that is a fantastic performance from Murray.

:03:34. > :03:39.If there was ever illustration of the fitness regime he has gone

:03:40. > :03:44.through for years that is it because most people who are ordinary humans

:03:45. > :03:48.cannot do this. He has had the two longest matches in the history of

:03:49. > :03:55.these championships this week and he comes out and produces these

:03:56. > :04:00.numbers, Tim. I am impressed. It is impressive. Prior to this match,

:04:01. > :04:10.trying to come up with a game plan of how Murray could have an impact,

:04:11. > :04:17.I felt in my heart I wanted to -- him to win. But the way Djokovic has

:04:18. > :04:22.been playing, how he has been moving the ball around, but Murray loves a

:04:23. > :04:27.challenge and loves to prove people wrong and the first set was

:04:28. > :04:35.phenomenal. He kept his nose in front in the first seven games and

:04:36. > :04:40.created opportunities. Two double faults in the first game of the

:04:41. > :04:48.match and after that, not blemish free, but moving well. It was one

:04:49. > :04:53.week ago the tournament started. Djokovic got is under way by losing

:04:54. > :05:03.the first set to debutant Dominic Thiem from Austria and he came back.

:05:04. > :05:09.Djokovic has not won four straight titles here without knowing how to

:05:10. > :05:13.get the job done. Defeating Roger Federer in 2012 and Rafa Nadal in

:05:14. > :05:30.2013. In 2014 Roger Federer was unable to

:05:31. > :05:40.take to the court. And last year, Federer again. This is a man who

:05:41. > :05:47.this year held all four grand slam championships after winning the

:05:48. > :05:56.French Open. That is the sort of man Andy Murray is playing against here.

:05:57. > :06:04.From the point of view of Djokovic, really important stages, the early

:06:05. > :06:08.part of the second set, he is serving first and leads a couple of

:06:09. > :06:20.strong service games to get his nose in front.

:06:21. > :06:28.Murray is going to be saying three games in a row, first set, let's

:06:29. > :06:51.keep the momentum going. An early break of serve.

:06:52. > :07:00.Early break of serve and let's wrap this up in under four hours!

:07:01. > :07:03.LAUGHTER. We would like to see a classic, but

:07:04. > :07:38.we will take two sets. There have been years where you

:07:39. > :07:46.would not necessarily want to hit the Djokovic backhand but he has

:07:47. > :07:47.made as many mistakes in this first 50 minutes as I have seen on the

:07:48. > :09:15.backhand. Djokovic has not had many free

:09:16. > :09:17.points on his serve in the last few service games but that was a big

:09:18. > :09:51.serve at the right time. Has he caught the line? He has. The

:09:52. > :09:53.shot he used well against Wawrinka but Wawrinka does not move as well

:09:54. > :10:41.as Djokovic and it finds the line. There is still room in the game for

:10:42. > :10:46.changing the pace. Backhand slices from both players have produced

:10:47. > :11:36.results in this match for both players.

:11:37. > :11:45.As soon as Djokovic goes to the slice, Murray is moving to his left

:11:46. > :12:16.to try to bring his forehand into play.

:12:17. > :12:26.Backhand to backhand, Murray is winning that battle. That fella had

:12:27. > :13:30.a backhand. That was a poor miss from Djokovic.

:13:31. > :13:34.Murray trying to play the ball short but it sat up. Djokovic could have

:13:35. > :13:38.gone either way but made the unforced error. He would love a

:13:39. > :14:23.second serve. A set and a break, Murray. Eight

:14:24. > :14:27.minute game. And on the first serve gets the ball back into play and

:14:28. > :14:33.another error from Djokovic and it is a sign of the respect and esteem

:14:34. > :14:40.he holds the Murray ground strokes in that the errors are coming. And

:14:41. > :14:46.the movement Murray has on the court. Djokovic I think needs to

:14:47. > :14:52.bellow, throw a racket, something, because he feels he is being

:14:53. > :14:58.inhibited. He does not feel good. You can see it, Murray can see it.

:14:59. > :15:01.Djokovic needs to change momentum. Four games in a row, and the crowd

:15:02. > :15:21.believe, Murray believes. Dominating from the back of the

:15:22. > :15:24.court. Not many volleys. If you are winning from the baseline in a

:15:25. > :16:57.Djokovic encounter, you are in good shape.

:16:58. > :17:05.I felt coming into the match Murray had to do something different, be

:17:06. > :17:11.ultra-aggressive, keep the rally short, but he is playing Djokovic at

:17:12. > :17:44.his own game and he is beating him. That is OK, it is 40-0. It is OK if

:17:45. > :18:01.he wins the next point. When you're backhand is as good as

:18:02. > :18:23.his, just hit a winner down the line.

:18:24. > :18:32.A quick word of congratulations to John Peers and Henri Kontinen, who

:18:33. > :18:59.won the doubles earlier. UMPIRE: Mr Djokovic has challenged

:19:00. > :19:04.the call. Henri Kontinen from Finland who won the mixed doubles at

:19:05. > :19:11.Wimbledon this year. The call is out. Djokovic has to turn this

:19:12. > :21:04.around quickly, because he is on the way out here.

:21:05. > :21:20.A good recovery from 0-15. After the French Open, I suppose when you

:21:21. > :21:27.finally achieve everything that you set out to achieve, winning the

:21:28. > :21:31.Davis Cup for his nation before, finished achieving the goals this

:21:32. > :21:39.year by winning the French Open, it is a rare feat to hold four of the

:21:40. > :21:44.grand slam titles and he did it simultaneously. It is like the

:21:45. > :21:50.Apollo astronauts after walking on the moon, it is difficult to come

:21:51. > :21:54.down again. That is Bastian Schweinsteiger and his wife. Quite

:21:55. > :21:59.difficult for Djokovic to come down from the highs. I wonder where he is

:22:00. > :22:06.now. Still brilliant. He is, and very much in this match but down one

:22:07. > :22:13.set and a break, that last game was virtually a must win game. It is

:22:14. > :22:18.almost, you reflect on the year, and it is inconceivable you can win two

:22:19. > :22:24.Grand Slams and Masters Series 1000s and not finish is number one, but

:22:25. > :22:35.that is what Murray is trying to do to Djokovic today. It has been a

:22:36. > :22:39.great festival again at the O2. I just love this venue for this event.

:22:40. > :22:47.The lighting and staging works so well. That is Woody Harrelson.

:22:48. > :22:57.Cheers for being here, Woody Harrelson. Kris commode trying to

:22:58. > :23:04.get in the shot. Get out! -- Chris Kermode. There is big money in China

:23:05. > :23:13.and the Middle East that will try to take this event away but as far as

:23:14. > :23:17.the Time zones goes, I think it will be hard to move it from this time

:23:18. > :23:21.zone, let alone the staging at the O2. Time will tell. Two more years

:23:22. > :25:26.after this. For a player Djokovic's calibre at

:25:27. > :25:32.this stage of the match, that is a poor miss. He needs to find a way to

:25:33. > :25:34.get into one of Murray's service games. He cannot afford to miss

:25:35. > :25:56.that. He has never lost a final, the ATP

:25:57. > :26:41.World Tour Finals, he has won five of them. Subdued at the moment.

:26:42. > :26:57.I don't believe it! He has knocked the stuffing out of Murray, he had

:26:58. > :27:03.won the rally and on the 30th shot, he has an absolute nightmare. This

:27:04. > :27:12.is worse than the overhead. I have no idea where his head is. It is a

:27:13. > :27:27.big mess, the difference between 30-30 and 40-14.

:27:28. > :27:42.There is one man who will not be complaining about that. Faultless

:27:43. > :27:46.from Murray. Against possibly the best return in the history of the

:27:47. > :28:05.game, he has only lost three points behind the first of serve.

:28:06. > :29:28.I am not sure Djokovic fancies this. Definitely not right.

:29:29. > :29:37.The let on the approach from Djokovic. But look at the smack on

:29:38. > :29:59.this backhand. You are not going to get it passed me.

:30:00. > :30:09.You see where Djokovic was covering, the crosscourt, that is where Murray

:30:10. > :30:17.wants to hit the passing shot. They feel like match points.

:30:18. > :31:01.Should not be fooled playing Djokovic, though.

:31:02. > :31:20.Murray is closing in on another famous victory here.

:31:21. > :31:30.An unbeaten run so far this year. 23 matches. Four straight tournaments

:31:31. > :31:39.in a row. He's won more matches than anyone else. This year he's won 77.

:31:40. > :31:45.Djokovic is second with 75. A vast amount of tennis for Andy

:31:46. > :31:49.Murray. If that tells you he feels good about his body. Feels good

:31:50. > :31:54.about his body and the confidence is there. But when you think, logically

:31:55. > :31:59.about this match and what he's been through this week, for the last six

:32:00. > :32:05.weeks, you just, for me, I felt, is this one step too far? For the way

:32:06. > :32:12.he's come out, executed his game plan, hardly missed a ball against

:32:13. > :32:17.one of the greats of the game. It sounds like the match is pretty much

:32:18. > :32:22.done, but far from it against one of the great returners. Murray has to

:32:23. > :32:24.keep this level of intensity. Hit his spots on his serve and force his

:32:25. > :33:29.way to the finish line. Looking from Djokovic's end of the

:33:30. > :33:34.court you think, well you've got to swing interest the hip and try and

:33:35. > :33:38.hit some winners, but when you have made unforced errors, that means

:33:39. > :33:41.you'll take more risks. I think first and foremost he will hope that

:33:42. > :34:08.Murray's level drops. I remember when he would sit back

:34:09. > :34:12.and soak up the pressure and try and counter it. Everyone would say,

:34:13. > :36:08.you've got to take the ball on. Now look at him. The finished article.

:36:09. > :36:54.That's an impeccable break point from Djokovic. Perfect length,

:36:55. > :36:58.lovely direction, the backhand down-the-line. More like what we've

:36:59. > :37:02.come to expect from this man, who was dominated this year in number

:37:03. > :37:05.one position. Four of the last five years. Not

:37:06. > :39:56.going down without a fight. CHEERING AND

:39:57. > :40:00.APPLAUSE We sat there in 2013 watching Andy Murray doing what no

:40:01. > :40:05.British player had done in 77 years and win Wimbledon. Do you remember

:40:06. > :40:09.that final service game? 12 minutes or so of just amazing fight and

:40:10. > :40:15.resilience from Novak Djokovic. When you think he looks like he's a

:40:16. > :40:19.goner, he's got some momentum. There was always going to be a

:40:20. > :40:23.reaction from Djokovic and I think Murray's match against Raonic last

:40:24. > :40:28.night, when he served the match at 5-4 in the third. He served for the

:40:29. > :40:33.match at 6-5. In the third he lost his serve. Similar scenario. Murray

:40:34. > :40:40.needs to put the last couple of games behind him. No panic. Up a set

:40:41. > :40:44.and a break and do a good job in his next service game.

:40:45. > :40:52.I wonder if Milos Raonic is probably on an airport, I wonder if he may be

:40:53. > :40:58.keeping an eye on the score of this one. Lots to look forward to next

:40:59. > :41:03.year. He's certainly elevated the last year or so - the first Grand

:41:04. > :41:08.Slam, final losing to Murray at Wimbledon, of course. He was in

:41:09. > :41:13.tears at his press conference yesterday. He contemplated what he

:41:14. > :41:16.described as his greatest ever match.

:41:17. > :41:37.Only to lose it. He's a gent. With new tennis balls and a

:41:38. > :41:41.resurgent Djokovic who has won the last two games in double quick time,

:41:42. > :42:58.Murray, set at 4-3. Muscles screaming at you, but

:42:59. > :43:06.maintaining technical control of the shot. A 33rd shot from Murray, just

:43:07. > :43:52.dropping wide. Nine points in a row.

:43:53. > :44:00.Murray obviously exhausted from a busy week. He's taking a fair amount

:44:01. > :44:07.of time between points. Where's the consistency from the umpires.

:44:08. > :44:09.Average is 30 seconds. They said it was supposed to be 25. Just an

:44:10. > :45:11.observation. Like a dog with a bone. He just will

:45:12. > :45:16.not let go. It is like one of those dogs that

:45:17. > :45:25.you can swing around and they just cling on. The first rally of this,

:45:26. > :45:32.well, he should have challenged. Should have challenged.

:45:33. > :45:35.And he had one challenge left. Fine margins at big moments.

:45:36. > :45:54.Concentration... If the opponent breaks a string

:45:55. > :45:58.returning a serve when it is out, the server gets the first serve.

:45:59. > :46:09.Murray's got to get back and hit a second serve with a new racket.

:46:10. > :46:26.Stringing them at 57.5 or 58, the stringing pattern is 16/19. He's got

:46:27. > :46:34.some there. Should be able to afford the restring as well. A tremendous

:46:35. > :46:51.response from Murray. UMPIRE: Mr Murray has one challenge

:46:52. > :46:54.remaining. I talked about his semifinal against Raonic, he will be

:46:55. > :48:53.pretty keen to break serve right now.

:48:54. > :48:57.Would have been keen for the break of serve. As is usual Murray will

:48:58. > :49:24.have to do it the hard way. UMPIRE: Game Djokovic. Murray leads

:49:25. > :49:28.by 5-4. Well, it is never easy to serve out for a match and a

:49:29. > :49:34.tournament, but winning is a habit, Tim, as you well know. 23 match wins

:49:35. > :49:38.in a row. And he's going for a fifth tournament in a row, Murray.

:49:39. > :49:44.For the record, the prize money is about ?1.9 million to the winner and

:49:45. > :49:49.about ?1 to the runner up. It is the last thing they'll be thinking

:49:50. > :49:56.about. Might have a quick look at his notes here, I suppose.

:49:57. > :50:00.Four first serves, shake hands. It would be nice. I don't see it

:50:01. > :50:05.happening. First point in his mind is, is he going to go for the

:50:06. > :50:12.slightly safer serve out wide to the forehand or big up the tee. No right

:50:13. > :50:17.or wrong. Whichever one he commits to, you have to focus on it. Focus

:50:18. > :50:27.hard on that first point. Process, not outcome. Easier said than done.

:50:28. > :50:34.Came down to a decider that everyone was looking for here. The eight-man

:50:35. > :50:38.event. The tour finals. The final throws of another thrilling season

:50:39. > :50:42.which has seen Djokovic dominate the first half and Murray accelerate

:50:43. > :50:46.past Djokovic to take the number one ranking in the second half. Can he

:50:47. > :51:01.finish the deal? The reception should be warm for both players.

:51:02. > :51:10.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Pretty much a perfect year, a dad

:51:11. > :51:13.for the first time, Wimbledon, the Olympics, world number one ranking

:51:14. > :51:51.and now this. Just four more points.

:51:52. > :52:21.Thank you very much. Unforced error, number 28. 15-0.

:52:22. > :54:47.Oh, Djokovic had time to load up, didn't he?

:54:48. > :54:52.Went for the delicate lob, the volley. The volley was a bit pushy

:54:53. > :55:11.to say the least from Andy Murray, but it was enough to match point.

:55:12. > :55:17.UMPIRE: PLEASE SWITCH OFF ALL THE LIGHTS, PLEASE, FOR THE PLAYERS. AT

:55:18. > :55:25.THE BACK OF THE courts, PLEASE. A couple of lights there. Down that

:55:26. > :56:03.side. UMPIRE: Thank you.

:56:04. > :56:12.That is the way to play when you are a match point down. That was

:56:13. > :56:20.amazing! Murray with no play whatsoever.

:56:21. > :57:06.130 miles per hour in the corner does the trick.

:57:07. > :57:50.It paid good money for one more of those.

:57:51. > :58:08.If he does get another match point, Murray, he could lose a first serve

:58:09. > :58:11.because Djokovic is really letting the racket head go. Two match points

:58:12. > :59:18.have come and gone. Get your first serve in. I think he

:59:19. > :59:25.was asking, where should I go? Out wide? Remember how he finished

:59:26. > :59:27.Federer off for Olympic gold at Wimbledon.

:59:28. > :00:02.Pick your spot, go for it. It's yet another great tennis

:00:03. > :00:07.achievement for Andy Murray. He will finish this year as the world number

:00:08. > :00:12.one, fittingly. He defeats Novak Djokovic t man who he took that

:00:13. > :00:21.from. Respect at the ends is nice to see.

:00:22. > :00:30.That is an extraordinary physical performance. Let alone the mentality

:00:31. > :00:36.he brought to the court. Well done, team, well done Murray. He has

:00:37. > :00:43.broken the 12 year stranglehold of the big three as they are known,

:00:44. > :00:48.Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Djokovic. Who had the preceding 12 years as

:00:49. > :00:53.world number one. Amazing, Tim. It defies logic, it really does. Every

:00:54. > :00:58.time there is a challenge put in front of this mad he finds a way to

:00:59. > :01:04.get over it. Djokovic, one of the best players who has ever played

:01:05. > :01:09.this game, in good form. At the end of such a long week, long year,

:01:10. > :01:15.Murray found a way to get across the finishing line and all credit to

:01:16. > :01:21.him. The world's number one. It is a ninth tournament victory this year,

:01:22. > :01:26.including the Wimbledon title, which must be his highlight, of course. It

:01:27. > :01:30.is the run at the end of the year that is phenomenal. He made a first

:01:31. > :01:35.French Open final, another Australian Open final but this run

:01:36. > :01:43.got him over the line to world number one. Nobody thought it

:01:44. > :01:50.possible, did they? Shanghai, Vienna, Paris, defeating John Isner.

:01:51. > :01:56.He had to match or better Novak Djokovic at this event to go year

:01:57. > :02:05.end number one. The last person to achieve it outside the big three was

:02:06. > :02:10.Andy Roddick in 2003. 2000 metres run by Andy Murray over an hour and

:02:11. > :02:12.42 minutes after playing three hours and 40 against Milos Raonic and

:02:13. > :02:29.saving a match point, yesterday. It is nice, he is going over to his

:02:30. > :02:38.team to congratulate them and first, of course, his wife Kim. They have

:02:39. > :02:44.been blessed with a baby daughter, Sophia this year. Great work from

:02:45. > :02:48.Jamie Delgado who came in in March, April time and Ivan Lendl was

:02:49. > :02:57.announced as part of the camp the day before Queen's Club. Amazing he

:02:58. > :03:09.came back but he has played well since, Murray. December the 18th,

:03:10. > :03:12.Sports Personality Of The Year. You have to be looking at Britain's

:03:13. > :03:23.number one sports person right now, surely. It is tough to look past him

:03:24. > :03:28.with what he has achieved. It has been a phenomenal journey. The first

:03:29. > :03:36.man to claim two men's Olympic gold medals, in Rio. A Davis Cup victory

:03:37. > :03:45.last year and it is all going his way. There is a lot more to come, he

:03:46. > :03:48.is only 29. Fabulous the entertainment he has given us.

:03:49. > :03:56.Murray over Djokovic in straight sets and now the presentation

:03:57. > :04:01.ceremony. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2016 Barclays ATP world tour final

:04:02. > :04:07.singles trophy presentation. Please welcome onto court Chris Kermode,

:04:08. > :04:13.chairman and president of the ATP. He will be joined by the events

:04:14. > :04:19.director of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, the chief operating

:04:20. > :04:20.officer of AEG Europe and the commercial and media director of the

:04:21. > :04:31.all England lawn tennis club. This year, Barclays has run a

:04:32. > :04:37.nationwide search to find a customer to present the trophy to the singles

:04:38. > :04:39.champion. The winner has displayed passion and determination. Let's see

:04:40. > :04:58.a short film of their story. I am just about to surprise a lovely

:04:59. > :05:03.man by the name of Tom. How are you? I can tell you one thing about Tom,

:05:04. > :05:08.he loves tennis. If he is not playing tennis, he is watching it,

:05:09. > :05:16.and if he is not watching it, he is doing something behind-the-scenes

:05:17. > :05:27.for the club. A young coach who lost his life in a crash. We wanted to

:05:28. > :05:31.honour his memory. I started working nights so I could dedicate my days

:05:32. > :05:38.fund-raising and take on the role of chairman. The dome is up and it is

:05:39. > :05:42.fantastic. Just about to go on the court and presented. What an amazing

:05:43. > :05:55.thing, can you believe it is happening? I cannot, I will be

:05:56. > :06:00.trembling. It is absolutely amazing. Please welcome the Barclays Rewards

:06:01. > :06:12.winner, Tom Elliott. CHEERING.

:06:13. > :06:17.Ladies and gentlemen, please show your appreciation for the runner-up,

:06:18. > :06:46.Novak Djokovic. CHEERING.

:06:47. > :06:52.Very bad luck, I am sure you are bitterly disappointed, but you must

:06:53. > :07:01.be proud of a great week and fantastic year. It has been a

:07:02. > :07:05.fantastic year. Obviously, a lot to look back to, great highlights,

:07:06. > :07:09.especially in the first six months. Today Andy and I were part of the

:07:10. > :07:14.history and it was an honour to be on the court and part of the big

:07:15. > :07:16.occasion. Andy is definitely number one of the world, he is the best

:07:17. > :07:25.player. CHEERING. He deserved to win. He

:07:26. > :07:30.just played better tennis and indecisive moments I was not able to

:07:31. > :07:35.come back. I started playing better towards the end of the match, but it

:07:36. > :07:41.was a bit too late and I congratulate him and his team for a

:07:42. > :07:48.tremendous year. We wish you the best in 2017.

:07:49. > :07:52.Novak Djokovic. CHEERING. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the 2016

:07:53. > :08:22.Barclays ATP World Tour Finals champion, Andy Murray!

:08:23. > :09:05.MUSIC PLAYS. And now, a special bottle of Moet et

:09:06. > :09:17.Chandon will be presented to the winner and runner-up.

:09:18. > :09:20.As well as winning the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, Andy Murray is

:09:21. > :09:29.also crowned the year end number one in the emirates ATP rankings.

:09:30. > :09:33.To present the trophy to Andy Murray, please welcome the vice

:09:34. > :10:12.president of Emirates UK. CHEERING. Well, many

:10:13. > :10:16.congratulations, this is a fantastically special day for you,

:10:17. > :10:22.your first World Tour Finals and first year end number one. Give us

:10:23. > :10:27.your thoughts. A very special day, playing against Novak in a match

:10:28. > :10:33.like this. We have played Grand Slam finals, Olympics and matches like

:10:34. > :10:37.this. It has been a tough rivalry and I have lost many of them and I

:10:38. > :10:41.am happy to get the win today and finished the year number one is very

:10:42. > :10:50.special, something I never expected. CHEERING. And you have words for

:10:51. > :10:54.your team? Obviously, I could not do it without them, they have been a

:10:55. > :10:59.huge help stop some of them have been around a long time. My family

:11:00. > :11:03.have been there from the start and made a lot of sacrifices for me and

:11:04. > :11:09.my tennis and so thank you very much to all of you. Special to be part of

:11:10. > :11:17.an historical match, as well. Of course. There are a lot of great

:11:18. > :11:23.champions of the past. Me and Novak are lucky to have to of them in our

:11:24. > :11:34.boxes with Boris and I've found. I know Stefan Edberg, mats the lander,

:11:35. > :11:39.they were here watching. -- Wilander. Congratulations to Novak

:11:40. > :11:45.on everything he has achieved this year. When I lost to Novak in the

:11:46. > :11:50.French Open I spoke about it at the time, to hold four Grand Slams like

:11:51. > :11:53.he did early this year is an incredible achievement and very

:11:54. > :12:01.special and something I don't think we will see for a long time in this

:12:02. > :12:07.sport. Enjoy this moment. It is a very special day. Congratulations,

:12:08. > :12:19.you're champion, Andy Murray. Thank you.

:12:20. > :12:23.SUE BARKER: What a site that is. Andy Murray with the trophy and

:12:24. > :12:29.ending the world as world number one. Just when I thought I could not

:12:30. > :12:34.admire him any more, even more respect today, Tim? Absolutely, an

:12:35. > :12:39.incredible performance, when you reflect this week how much time he

:12:40. > :12:44.has spent on court, how he has battled the whole year, amazing he

:12:45. > :12:48.could find the one last push to play one of the greatest players of all

:12:49. > :12:53.time and win the tournament and finish world number one. An

:12:54. > :12:56.incredible achievement. I watched him dragging himself onto the

:12:57. > :13:01.practice court today and looking tired, but he came out and went for

:13:02. > :13:05.it. Great game plan. He double-faulted twice in the first

:13:06. > :13:11.game and did not look to have the same colour in his face than we have

:13:12. > :13:14.seen before but there is the man, he pushed on through, instead of

:13:15. > :13:20.finding excuses he found a way to get the job done. It was lovely in

:13:21. > :13:25.his speech he said he never expected this. That is part of his success,

:13:26. > :13:30.he does not expect it, he continues working and allows the success to

:13:31. > :13:36.come to him. He will have to build another house to put the trophies in

:13:37. > :13:39.because he has won them all. What a gentleman, Djokovic, saying this is

:13:40. > :13:46.your moment. He obviously had lovely words for Andy at the net. When you

:13:47. > :13:52.look at this generation and bring in Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, they are

:13:53. > :13:57.unbelievable ambassadors, for the sport, and they have huge respect

:13:58. > :14:03.for each other. Djokovic has had plenty of these moments, but this is

:14:04. > :14:08.Andy Murray's moment and he thoroughly deserves it. I have been

:14:09. > :14:12.reading, and EZ everybody has asked in his run-up to the world number

:14:13. > :14:18.one, you got there without beating Djokovic, so this will be special.

:14:19. > :14:23.There will always be doubters and coming in here he had not beaten on

:14:24. > :14:30.this great run of his anybody in the top ten and people saying he is not

:14:31. > :14:37.good for it, that is that anybody who has played knows you can only

:14:38. > :14:43.eat those in front of you. Andy beat him as well, Chris Kermode, who

:14:44. > :14:48.brought the event here! He stages an amazing event. You can only beat who

:14:49. > :14:52.is in front of you and Andy has beaten everybody. It is a remarkable

:14:53. > :14:58.run and I am full of respect. I did not think it possible today. Like

:14:59. > :15:04.Tim, I thought it was probably a match too far. After yesterday, only

:15:05. > :15:08.24 hours to recover after a taxing match. It was tense at the end

:15:09. > :15:14.because Djokovic raised his game like great champions do. There would

:15:15. > :15:17.always be a reaction. The first five games important to establish

:15:18. > :15:23.himself. When he got the opportunity he took it to get the break. That is

:15:24. > :15:28.when people'sbelief in the stadium turned, that he could do this. Up a

:15:29. > :15:33.double break in the second set and you know it will not be plain

:15:34. > :15:37.sailing, there is no way Djokovic will go away without a fight.

:15:38. > :15:43.Winning eight, nine points in a row, and you wondered if Murray would get

:15:44. > :15:48.tight but he found a way. He has got a lot of points he can make up in

:15:49. > :15:54.February because he took time off for the birth of his baby. He could

:15:55. > :15:59.be world number one for sometime. That is right when you look at the

:16:00. > :16:03.intricacies of the system. A person most closely challenging him in the

:16:04. > :16:10.absence of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Wawrinka not as consistent,

:16:11. > :16:14.is Novak Djokovic. Novak won Indian Wells and Miami and the Australian

:16:15. > :16:21.Open, he won everything in the first half of next year. Andy as world

:16:22. > :16:26.number one for quite some time. Wonderful to see him with the kids,

:16:27. > :16:32.trying to get next to Andy to be in the photo. He inspires a generation?

:16:33. > :16:35.It is imperative that the LTA and game in this country capitalise

:16:36. > :16:40.because they have an unbelievable role model. He has overcome hurdles

:16:41. > :16:46.and this has two inspired the next generation to play the game and

:16:47. > :16:52.produce better players. A big cheer for Andy as he goes off the court

:16:53. > :16:58.and a big cheer for Jamie Murray. What a year for the family. With his

:16:59. > :17:06.partner Bruno Soares yesterday, the top ranked team in the world.

:17:07. > :17:12.Murrays one and one. It is a fabulous story, the world doubles

:17:13. > :17:16.number one, Nicolas Mahut, a Frenchman, to top the doubles, but

:17:17. > :17:20.they are the top team. With a bit of luck, people will pick up a racket

:17:21. > :17:27.and find a court. Their story is inspiring admission tell it time and

:17:28. > :17:34.again without embarrassment. We can relive the match point again. The

:17:35. > :17:40.cheering was so loud. Relief for Murray. It is almost as if he cannot

:17:41. > :17:46.believe it. He had a couple of match points prior to that and on second

:17:47. > :17:50.serve Djokovic stepped in on those points and Murray would have been

:17:51. > :17:59.grateful to receive one last unforced error. We are blessed with

:18:00. > :18:05.this generation. The stranglehold at the top of the game has been broken.

:18:06. > :18:09.This achievement is different from winning Grand Slams regular

:18:10. > :18:14.tournaments, it takes a team effort. He deserves a couple of weeks down

:18:15. > :18:19.before training starts again. Great to see Ivan Lendl looking so

:18:20. > :18:24.excited. He sort of smiled, I think you did, anyway. Great pictures and

:18:25. > :18:30.we will be talking about him for sometime. There is more sport on the

:18:31. > :18:40.BBC tonight. The Premier League highlights at 10:30pm, and an hour

:18:41. > :18:46.later on BBC One Scotland. Andy and Tim, thanks. What a week for Andy

:18:47. > :18:51.Murray. You wonder what awards will come his way from now on. Sports

:18:52. > :18:57.Personality Of The Year for a record third time? Maybe it will be arise,

:18:58. > :19:10.Sir Andy. This week he has proved what a winner he truly is. Goodbye.

:19:11. > :19:16.Novak Djokovic! Andy Murray! A fantastic start for Andy Murray. As

:19:17. > :19:24.he miss that? It is Murray serving for the set. That is gutsy stuff. A

:19:25. > :19:32.set and a break, Murray. I have no idea where his head is. You are not

:19:33. > :19:33.going to get it passed me. Another great tennis achievement for Andy

:19:34. > :19:34.Murray.
