0:00:19 > 0:00:24I love being on the water. It's so special from all the other

0:00:24 > 0:00:30tournaments. For me here, it's always been a goal of mine. I have

0:00:30 > 0:00:37obviously achieved it. Nothing beats the feeling when you hear your name.

0:00:37 > 0:00:45Grigor Dimitrov!Walking out on the floor and you feel like a total rock

0:00:45 > 0:00:50star, getting out there, wow. I don't know how you get used to that.

0:00:50 > 0:00:54Those are the moments I appreciate and cherish. It's also what I have

0:00:54 > 0:01:01worked for so hard. I'm glad I got through the first match.Grigor

0:01:01 > 0:01:07Dimitrov opens its account. It's important for me to put myself out

0:01:07 > 0:01:11there. Do better than my previous match. And every day I go out there

0:01:11 > 0:01:17and do something a little better. I will go out there, put myself out

0:01:17 > 0:01:24there and give 100%.Good afternoon. That's a cool way to arrive for the

0:01:24 > 0:01:30ATP World Tour Finals. Not struggling through the Blackwall

0:01:30 > 0:01:40tunnel for Grigor Dimitrov. He's up against David Goffin today, the

0:01:40 > 0:01:46victor over Rafa Nadal.Thank you for my card, you were so rude in it!

0:01:46 > 0:01:51If people only knew what you were really like. I thought she was so

0:01:51 > 0:01:57nice, that girl! You haven't seen the present yet! Save that for

0:01:57 > 0:02:01later. And Dimitrov there, he gets the media. He gives of himself and

0:02:01 > 0:02:07we get to know his personality.Very much so. This event, he has taken a

0:02:07 > 0:02:11few years to get here. He has shown promise, had an unfair labelling as

0:02:11 > 0:02:15the next Federer. Now he is playing proper tennis and his first match

0:02:15 > 0:02:19here against Dominic Thiem, he did well to get through because he

0:02:19 > 0:02:23served the match at 5-4 in the third, lost his serve and was able

0:02:23 > 0:02:27to break again and finished it off. They both had really impressive

0:02:27 > 0:02:31first matches. The way the round robin format works, it's all to play

0:02:31 > 0:02:38for today. How beautiful is this match is going to be today, the way

0:02:38 > 0:02:41these guys play?I love the way David Goffin plays, a little guy,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44but moves the ball around. He is making history for his country on

0:02:44 > 0:02:48the male side. We have had Kim Clijsters who has been around for

0:02:48 > 0:02:54many years. Both players like to showcase their talent on the court

0:02:54 > 0:02:58and I think it will be an attractive match. If Tim Henman here picks

0:02:58 > 0:03:05Goffin to win this, then I will take another capacity of him because I

0:03:05 > 0:03:15will go Dimitrov.ANNOUNCER:David Goffin!

0:03:49 > 0:03:55Ladies and gentlemen, playing his first season finale. Winner of seven

0:03:55 > 0:03:59ATP world tour titles, from Bulgaria, Grigor Dimitrov.

0:04:35 > 0:04:41STUDIO: You left that hanging, Tim, but you said you think David Goffin

0:04:41 > 0:04:44will win the match. Having beaten world number one Rafa Nadal, even

0:04:44 > 0:04:48though he was just on one leg for about a set and a half.Yesterday

0:04:48 > 0:04:52when we were talking about the matchup between Jack Sock and Marin

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Cilic, I thought it was a 50-50 match and it was always going to be

0:04:55 > 0:04:59pretty tired. I think Cilic should have come through the match but he

0:04:59 > 0:05:06didn't. I think this is another 50-50 match. Looking at their

0:05:06 > 0:05:11head-to-head, I think Goffin will have taken confidence from the

0:05:11 > 0:05:14victory of an adult and playing this event for the first time, he will

0:05:14 > 0:05:20fancy his chances. I can see both sides of the coin. -- his victory

0:05:20 > 0:05:30over Nadal. You are relentlessly wrong all the time, but your logic

0:05:30 > 0:05:34is perfect. I think Dimitrov has a bit too much firepower. When he

0:05:34 > 0:05:37plays with confidence in front of all these people, I think he will

0:05:37 > 0:05:43embrace his opportunity. Any win gets into to the semifinals. I think

0:05:43 > 0:05:47he has too much firepower. We see, but I think it'll be a looking

0:05:47 > 0:05:53match.Dimitrov is a great showman. He has embraced the concept of the

0:05:53 > 0:05:57atmosphere. He played exceptionally well in his first match. He did. Had

0:05:57 > 0:06:04some near misses with this event. Had a qualifier, players missing out

0:06:04 > 0:06:07with injury this year, it was a good opportunity for a lot of guys. He

0:06:07 > 0:06:10has stepped up and played good tennis recently. You reflect on the

0:06:10 > 0:06:17first round match against Dominic Thiem. It was a good win. And to get

0:06:17 > 0:06:20your first victory in the round-robin format it bodes well for

0:06:20 > 0:06:42him.We have Sue helping with the coin toss. A quick photo.

0:06:47 > 0:06:52Well done with the coin toss to Sue. We saw Grigor Dimitrov riding on the

0:06:52 > 0:06:56boat for that match and on that journey he was joined by Jonathan

0:06:56 > 0:07:04Overend.This is the way to travel, isn't it!Every day, we get on the

0:07:04 > 0:07:09boat and it feels so nice. It reminds me a little bit of home. I

0:07:09 > 0:07:16love being on the water. And all the other tournaments it's car, car,

0:07:16 > 0:07:22more cars and a bit of walking. But anything at all like this?

0:07:22 > 0:07:29Different?Nothing like this. I have been many times on the river out

0:07:29 > 0:07:34here and every time I have loved it, but going to practice this way, it's

0:07:34 > 0:07:38pretty fancy when you think about it.Let's talk about the tennis. How

0:07:38 > 0:07:42did you feel when Rafa Nadal announced he was heading back?I was

0:07:42 > 0:07:48most looking forward to playing against Rafa, I'm not going to lie.

0:07:48 > 0:07:53I was ready to play that, this match, but things don't always go

0:07:53 > 0:07:58the way you plan. It's sad to see him go. It's not an easy sport, it's

0:07:58 > 0:08:02hard on your body. But your moment comes around sometimes. This is a

0:08:02 > 0:08:07huge match in your group now, you against David Goffin. He has been

0:08:07 > 0:08:11playing so well, especially towards the end of the year. I don't look at

0:08:11 > 0:08:16it that way. I'm just excited to get out on the court and perform. It's

0:08:16 > 0:08:20important for me to put myself out there and try to be better than my

0:08:20 > 0:08:27previous match. This is one of my main goals, even when I am off the

0:08:27 > 0:08:29tournament, to come out every day and do something a little bit

0:08:29 > 0:08:36better. I will come out, put myself out there and give 100%. Follow my

0:08:36 > 0:08:40instinct and follow my game and go on from there.STUDIO: Not giving

0:08:40 > 0:08:47much away there. Taking it one match at a time. He's had a fabulous year.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50Winning at Brisbane, getting through to the semis in Australia and

0:08:50 > 0:08:54winning Cincinnati. Some big breakthroughs for him.Absolutely

0:08:54 > 0:08:59right. This has been a transforming year. When he started working with

0:08:59 > 0:09:03Danny he was down to number 40 in the world and we thought, how is

0:09:03 > 0:09:08that possible for a guy of this much ability? I think Danny has brought a

0:09:08 > 0:09:11lot of structure to the way he has practised, the way he has trained in

0:09:11 > 0:09:15the gym. He has been able to take that form to the match court and has

0:09:15 > 0:09:19been so much more consistent. The way he started the year with

0:09:19 > 0:09:24Brisbane and the Australian Open and then rounding it off with a Masters

0:09:24 > 0:09:291000 win in Cincinnati. He's back in the top ten where he deserves to be.

0:09:29 > 0:09:34With the round robin format we have in the finals, we get to the

0:09:34 > 0:09:36situation where we start looking at who can get through to the

0:09:36 > 0:09:45semifinals. With the permutations, Tim, all yours.Please no!The

0:09:45 > 0:09:49simplest way to explain things, if Dimitrov wins he will be through to

0:09:49 > 0:09:56the semifinals. Goffin needs a straight sets win to get his place,

0:09:56 > 0:09:59otherwise he will have to wait until the result tonight's match. And

0:09:59 > 0:10:05that's easy. It's three combinations, simple to understand.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Over the course of the rest of the week it can get extremely

0:10:07 > 0:10:12complicated.It did get complicated with Rafa Nadal withdrawing from the

0:10:12 > 0:10:23tournament. Pablo Carreno Busta is coming in to replace him. Goffin is

0:10:23 > 0:10:26one of the best movers on the tour. The big thing to watch out for

0:10:26 > 0:10:31today, from the back of the court, when they get into their rallies,

0:10:31 > 0:10:35how well Goffin strikes down the line. That's the way he likes to

0:10:35 > 0:10:39attack. He will come into the net to finish the ball. Not a massive

0:10:39 > 0:10:43serve, but a good location server. The attack down the line, if he

0:10:43 > 0:10:46finds that than he has a chance of winning this. But the head to head

0:10:46 > 0:10:50is not in his favour. But he took his country to the Davis Cup final

0:10:50 > 0:10:57twice and is a wonderful player.He is five foot 11 and he weighs 68

0:10:57 > 0:11:04kilos.Have you been putting him on the scales?Compare to the others,

0:11:04 > 0:11:11Marin Cilic is the heaviest of the eight, 89 kilos. Having a laugh with

0:11:11 > 0:11:17Gilles Simon, the next person in the top ten under 70 kilos. Kei

0:11:17 > 0:11:25Nishikori, he's 75 kilos. He is a small man.He is, but the way he

0:11:25 > 0:11:29covers the court I think is part of that. He's not the biggest guy so

0:11:29 > 0:11:32will not have the biggest weapons compared to the other top ten

0:11:32 > 0:11:36players. You know he has to be incredibly efficient and fast with

0:11:36 > 0:11:40his movement. The changes direction with the ball very well and gives

0:11:40 > 0:11:45very little away. A very good competitor. I think that was evident

0:11:45 > 0:11:48when he played Rafa Nadal, irrespective of how Nadal was

0:11:48 > 0:11:52feeling. When he had match point in the second set, he didn't take them,

0:11:52 > 0:11:56didn't get flustered, stuck in there in the third and got the win. With

0:11:56 > 0:12:00both guys winning their first match there is a lot to play for here and

0:12:00 > 0:12:04it adds to the excitement. It really does. If you are a kid watching

0:12:04 > 0:12:07this, these are two players you could really learn from. Great role

0:12:07 > 0:12:16models on how to play the game. Solid technique. I think the

0:12:16 > 0:12:19majority points will be played from the baseline, as is the case these

0:12:19 > 0:12:22days. I think Dimitrov will look to be more offensive. He is more

0:12:22 > 0:12:26proactive. It's whether he can be aggressive and keep the unforced

0:12:26 > 0:12:31error count down. With Goffin's footwork and speed, sometimes when

0:12:31 > 0:12:34you are being aggressive and the ball comes back, you get closer to

0:12:34 > 0:12:40the line. That's an unforced errors creep in.We just saw Danny there.

0:12:40 > 0:12:46Everybody has been crying out for Dimitrov do have somebody in his

0:12:46 > 0:12:50camp, but he has been looking for somebody to gel with. The pieces of

0:12:50 > 0:12:54the puzzle have always been there for Dimitrov, but it's how he puts

0:12:54 > 0:12:58them together. His game, he's technically sound, a great athlete,

0:12:58 > 0:13:01trains and competes hard, but you have to have an understanding of how

0:13:01 > 0:13:05you play to your strengths. That has been the turning point for him this

0:13:05 > 0:13:09year, he has looked aggressive and offensive at the right times. He can

0:13:09 > 0:13:13stay in rallies. The match against Dominic Thiem was an example of

0:13:13 > 0:13:20that.Will you go and get the kettle on now?My track record has been

0:13:20 > 0:13:24poor, to say the least. But I am going to go with Goffin. It will be

0:13:24 > 0:13:28interesting to watch.Tim, thank you very much. Over to the birthday boy.

0:13:28 > 0:13:34COMMENTATOR: Thank you very much was that there is a cake in here and I

0:13:34 > 0:13:41am so pleased about it. I will keep quiet, eat the cake and enjoy what

0:13:41 > 0:13:46could be a very exciting tennis bat. Victory for Dimitrov will take him

0:13:46 > 0:13:54through to the semifinals. For Goffin, victory in straight sets

0:13:54 > 0:14:00will see him through. A victory in three and we will have to do some

0:14:00 > 0:14:06mathematics. But let's enjoy the tennis. UMPIRE: Ready for play,

0:14:06 > 0:14:08first set, Dimitrov to serve.

0:14:38 > 0:14:44Dimitrov came to the net 25 times in his first-round match, winning 21 of

0:14:44 > 0:14:47the points. When you have a ratio like that, I really think you could

0:14:47 > 0:14:50look to get in a little bit more.

0:15:36 > 0:15:40For me, it's been a real common theme of this event this year, the

0:15:40 > 0:15:44quality of matches from the first point onwards has been so good.

0:15:44 > 0:15:48There is no easing your way in and finding a rhythm. It is sixth gear

0:15:48 > 0:15:52from the word go.

0:16:06 > 0:16:11A great match last night with Zverev, the 20 year rolled against

0:16:11 > 0:16:16Roger Federer. Three sets. I thought the first two sets were spectacular.

0:17:31 > 0:17:37Tim, you talk about the numbers and analysis. Sometimes there is

0:17:37 > 0:17:39paralysis by analysis. Sometimes there are too many numbers around

0:17:39 > 0:17:43each individual point and how you structure each individual time is

0:17:43 > 0:17:47lost in a haze of numbers. But the backhand placement is a case in

0:17:47 > 0:17:54point here. The coaches, one of their jobs now is to look at the

0:17:54 > 0:17:59information and to glean little bits and tell their man. Certainly Danny

0:17:59 > 0:18:04will have spoken to Dimitrov about the ratio of getting to the net.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07Very much so. It's like we have tried to explain with the statistics

0:18:07 > 0:18:11we get during the broadcast.You are brilliant with them.High praise.

0:18:11 > 0:18:17There are good ones, bad ones, relevant ones and not so relevant

0:18:17 > 0:18:21ones. But when you see Dimitrov's technique at the net, he should get

0:18:21 > 0:18:27them all. -- get there more.

0:18:36 > 0:18:40If you could change your pick for the winner of this match, would you

0:18:40 > 0:18:48change it now?Yes. Six points gone and 5-1 down.

0:18:54 > 0:19:00But I'm not going to.Good, stick with it.

0:19:07 > 0:19:1183 mile an hour second serve. That's going to get the job done. Not these

0:19:11 > 0:19:18days. That's one area I think both players can be looking to attack.

0:19:18 > 0:19:22Dimitrov's second serve can get a little shaky.

0:20:09 > 0:20:17Lovely improvisation from the Belgian player. Just slowed the ball

0:20:17 > 0:20:23down. Had to get his feet into position and adjust. The forehand

0:20:23 > 0:20:27instead of the backhand, as he overran. Still facing two break

0:20:27 > 0:20:30points.

0:20:33 > 0:20:43UMPIRE:Mr Goffin challenging the call. The ball was called out.It

0:20:43 > 0:20:48was close, but I think it's just wide.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55Call stands.

0:21:26 > 0:21:36That's massive from Dimitrov as he breaks Goffin.Good matchplay from

0:21:36 > 0:21:41Dimitrov. Asking the question. Got the break points, got the short

0:21:41 > 0:21:46ball. Not the best approach, but when you are down 15-40 on your own

0:21:46 > 0:21:49serve early in the match, it's not always easy to hit great passing

0:21:49 > 0:21:57shots.Goffin could have gone down the line on that one. Pulled it

0:21:57 > 0:22:00wide.

0:22:07 > 0:22:13Played one of the matches of the year at the Australian Open. The

0:22:13 > 0:22:17coaching, training and physio camp there, Dani Vallverdu on the

0:22:17 > 0:22:22right-hand side. It was an amazing way for the tennis year to start.

0:22:22 > 0:22:29The Australian Open often produces great matches.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38Do you think that's because the players come out so fresh after the

0:22:38 > 0:22:41break?Absolutely.

0:24:30 > 0:24:36Playing well, really, really well. Going in and closing. Anything above

0:24:36 > 0:24:41the height of the net is getting the treatment. Technique looks so solid

0:24:41 > 0:24:45as well. Completely pumped with lots of support from the Bulgarian fans.

0:24:45 > 0:24:52Lots of Bulgarian flags, anyway. This is the afternoon offering. The

0:24:52 > 0:24:56third day. This is how he closed out the game and has capitalised on the

0:24:56 > 0:25:02break of serve. So often compared to Roger Federer, but those comparisons

0:25:02 > 0:25:06are disappearing now. He is his own man, 26 years of age. He certainly

0:25:06 > 0:25:10looks up to Federer, but he has these guys in his sights. He wants

0:25:10 > 0:25:17Grand Slam titles himself. Last night, the great man himself, Roger

0:25:17 > 0:25:23Federer in action. This was match point against Alex Clare. It

0:25:23 > 0:25:29finished on a double fault. -- against Alex Zverev. Could so easily

0:25:29 > 0:25:35have been a match that Zverev won. I think I saw something in Sascha

0:25:35 > 0:25:39Zverev last night that I know a lot of people have seen, but he really

0:25:39 > 0:25:44does look like the real deal, as we celebrate another Federer victory to

0:25:44 > 0:25:47guarantee his semifinal place. He certainly is the real deal. Already

0:25:47 > 0:25:52number three in the world. He has played some great tennis. The area

0:25:52 > 0:25:56he will improve on as he matures is his overall consistency. Played some

0:25:56 > 0:26:01great tennis in the first game and was up 4-0 in the first set

0:26:01 > 0:26:06tie-break. He had opportunities. Federer was erratic from his point

0:26:06 > 0:26:12of view.He couldn't get on the front foot as much as he would like.

0:26:12 > 0:26:16Might have been two or 3% less sharp than other times. But his

0:26:16 > 0:26:22frustration was evident from early in the match. He looks testy.A bit

0:26:22 > 0:26:29grumpy. It happens as you get older, Andrew! What would you know?

0:26:34 > 0:26:39If you can't get on the front foot and you Roger Federer, that tells

0:26:39 > 0:26:44you something about the opposition, Zverev.Certainly does.

0:26:57 > 0:27:01My man in this match is struggling to get the front foot. Only the

0:27:01 > 0:27:06fourth point Goffin has won. Impressive from Dimitrov.

0:27:23 > 0:27:27It's difficult when you get off to start like this in a match and you

0:27:27 > 0:27:36don't a big weapon to go to. -- you don't have a big weapon to go to.

0:27:47 > 0:27:51You want and need a couple of cheap points to get your side of the

0:27:51 > 0:27:55scoreboard moving.

0:28:26 > 0:28:41Good work.David Goffin, 55 victories on tour this year. First

0:28:41 > 0:28:45couple of titles in more than two years as well, victories in Shenzhen

0:28:45 > 0:28:47and Tokyo.

0:29:08 > 0:29:14Even if this first set doesn't go his way, he actually has more wins

0:29:14 > 0:29:18in deciding set this season than any other player. 21 times he has gone

0:29:18 > 0:29:23to a decider and won it. Winning 21 and losing five. That's very

0:29:23 > 0:29:27impressive, over three and five sets.

0:29:43 > 0:29:53Peter Djokovic in Monte Carlo. Beats Nadal here. Although the port right

0:29:53 > 0:29:58knee of Nadal playing a role. -- beat Djokovic.

0:30:33 > 0:30:45Too long. The first double fault of the match.

0:31:02 > 0:31:07It is amazing how quickly this can turn around. It looks like one-way

0:31:07 > 0:31:12traffic for Dimitrov and it is, if Goffin holds on here and a couple of

0:31:12 > 0:31:15early points in a Dimitrov service game, it can quickly come back. Are

0:31:15 > 0:31:25you trying to be nice to me? Put the kettle on.

0:32:16 > 0:32:24What a point! Fantastic.

0:32:29 > 0:32:35A good job this court has got a big run back.

0:32:40 > 0:32:49Not even that go fast a strike could help Goffin there.

0:33:47 > 0:33:54Changing the direction of his attack. He is a player that likes to

0:33:54 > 0:34:00go down the line. 7.5 minutes of this second service game for the

0:34:00 > 0:34:07Belgian player.

0:34:09 > 0:34:16He hasn't found the range down the flanks yet.

0:34:43 > 0:34:47That's unlucky and the pressure tells from Dimitrov who might have

0:34:47 > 0:34:52wrapped up the first set with that second break 4-0. You don't want to

0:34:52 > 0:34:57take your foot off the gas even at 4-0 against somebody like Goffin,

0:34:57 > 0:35:04but that's a great start from the Bulgarian and really insightful

0:35:04 > 0:35:10stuff. It will turn round, old boy. It's your birthday, I had to give

0:35:10 > 0:35:14you the first choice.Is that chapped? Whatever I say.This is

0:35:14 > 0:35:20what happened?

0:37:30 > 0:37:35Well, absolutely one-way traffic. Well, it can't go on like this, but

0:37:35 > 0:37:41Federer against Murray the other year when it was 5-0, that was a

0:37:41 > 0:37:47duffing that continued for quite sometime. And to Murray's credit he

0:37:47 > 0:37:49came back and actually played exhibition a couple of days after

0:37:49 > 0:38:00that. Federer pailed out and had to play Wawrinka that marathon. Just 24

0:38:00 > 0:38:05minutes of play here and this is a first qualification at the season

0:38:05 > 0:38:07ending championship for Grigor Dimitrov, three victories on tour

0:38:07 > 0:38:14this year. He started by winning Brisbane over Nishikori. He carried

0:38:14 > 0:38:20on his great form into the Australian Open and lost in five

0:38:20 > 0:38:27sets to Rafa Nadal. Up to a career high of number six and he won in

0:38:27 > 0:38:32Bulgaria, beating the man he is playing today, David Goffin and then

0:38:32 > 0:38:41there was the ATP Masters 1,000 series, he won in Cincinnati and

0:38:41 > 0:38:48beat Nick Kyrgios and really a year of maturity for Dimitrov. He's a

0:38:48 > 0:38:58grown-up now. I mean that advisedly. The first few years out on the tour,

0:38:58 > 0:39:02you couldn't say that about him. He was going hell for leather, but now

0:39:02 > 0:39:14you feel it's about the tennis.

0:40:32 > 0:40:37Dimitrov's intensity is impressive. He knows he made a great start. He

0:40:37 > 0:40:48doesn't want to give Goffin any chance to settle in this match.

0:40:52 > 0:40:55That's pretty embarrassing when it happens to you like this, when you

0:40:55 > 0:40:59can't pick up a game. Even when the effort is clearly there and there

0:40:59 > 0:41:04has been decent tennis from Goffin at times, but it does feel a bit

0:41:04 > 0:41:14embarrassing. You want the court to swallow you up.

0:41:20 > 0:41:27Well, there we go! Simply magnificent. 27 minutes and

0:41:27 > 0:41:35that included the second Goffin service game of eight minutes. Very,

0:41:35 > 0:41:38very impressive from Dimitrov. I have to say Goffin will be

0:41:38 > 0:41:43embarrassed at the moment, but he must fight back and show the resolve

0:41:43 > 0:41:47that he has shown all year. He certainly should not be embarrassed

0:41:47 > 0:41:53with the year he has had making the final eight. In fact he beat Rafa

0:41:53 > 0:41:57Nadal two days ago, I know he was injured, but when you have had a

0:41:57 > 0:42:01duffing like that in the first-half an hour or so, you have got to

0:42:01 > 0:42:08change things up somehow, haven't you?He has got to show resilience

0:42:08 > 0:42:13and the maturity not to panic. He is only down one set. But there is no

0:42:13 > 0:42:17doubt the early part of the second set is going to be vitally important

0:42:17 > 0:42:22for him to get some sort of foothold in the match. The scary thing for

0:42:22 > 0:42:29Goffin is that in the first set, Dimitrov only made 36% of first

0:42:29 > 0:42:34serves, but he still has only dropped two points on his serve.

0:42:34 > 0:42:39And every little contest in that first set was one by Dimitrov. When

0:42:39 > 0:42:43Goffin missed his first serve, the points on second serve, that Goffin

0:42:43 > 0:42:47played, he won just one of those. It tells you everything you need to

0:42:47 > 0:43:01know really about halfs winning from the back of the court. This is where

0:43:01 > 0:43:08the next generals could really make a difference to this match. If you

0:43:08 > 0:43:11were having a little whisper in David's ear now and you were

0:43:11 > 0:43:20coaching him, what would you say? Forget about that first set.

0:43:20 > 0:43:23LAUGHTER Or, "Come on, laddie, I've had a bet

0:43:23 > 0:43:29on you."He has got to stick to his guns. Plan A to dictate from the

0:43:29 > 0:43:33baseline and not make unforced errors. He has got to do it better

0:43:33 > 0:43:39in the second set.I think when he gets a look at second serve and he

0:43:39 > 0:43:46had a few, he has got to be alert and try and be offensive. Get

0:43:46 > 0:43:58himself on the front foot.Rather than let Dimitrov dictating.

0:44:12 > 0:44:17And it's a funny thing. A lot of people will say in tennis, it can be

0:44:17 > 0:44:22a bit dangerous when you win a set 6-0 and I don't know why people say

0:44:22 > 0:44:30that, but I understand what they mean.Yes.

0:44:41 > 0:44:45So when they say that, what do they mean and why?It is just sometimes

0:44:45 > 0:44:50when you won a set 6-0, it is sometimes difficult to maintain that

0:44:50 > 0:44:56dominance. Obviously your opponent is really looking to try and turn

0:44:56 > 0:45:03the tide. A lot of times you see in the results a person that wins a set

0:45:03 > 0:45:106-0 loses the next set. I'm clutching at strews.You are!

0:45:10 > 0:45:19-- straws. I know what you mean. If anything goes wrong from 6-0, if

0:45:19 > 0:45:23that wonderful that's taken you through the match, if that flow

0:45:23 > 0:45:27stops for a second, it can be a real shock to the system. It doesn't look

0:45:27 > 0:45:35like it's going to happen at this point from Dimitrov.

0:45:41 > 0:45:47That's only the first ace for Dimitrov. He has not got the job

0:45:47 > 0:45:52done with aces, but just well placed serves. Fire power from the back of

0:45:52 > 0:45:57the court.

0:46:23 > 0:46:27Very uncomfortable for a really strong player, David Goffin. I love

0:46:27 > 0:46:30watching him play. He came up through the futures and the

0:46:30 > 0:46:35challengers. On the challengers circuit, he won four tournaments in

0:46:35 > 0:46:42a row. He was somebody, I felt when he was 100, 120 in the world he was

0:46:42 > 0:46:47going to rise quickly and he did. He took his country to two Divis Cup

0:46:47 > 0:46:52finals against France this year.He played Federer at Roland Garros.He

0:46:52 > 0:46:56qualified and I think made fourth round. He had a lot of chances in

0:46:56 > 0:47:03that round. It was one of the first chances I saw him play and I was

0:47:03 > 0:47:06mightily impressed, but he needs to turn something around here pretty

0:47:06 > 0:47:13sharpish.This is a massive game for him. He must win this.Serve and

0:47:13 > 0:47:22volley.There is nothing he can't do.

0:48:00 > 0:48:05The coach to Goffin. He might be the coach for another half an hour if he

0:48:05 > 0:48:13doesn't start picking up a few games!

0:48:19 > 0:48:30Oh dear. Come on. Keep going. He doesn't have any big serves or

0:48:30 > 0:48:37massive ones that you feel he could just power his way to one game

0:48:37 > 0:48:47without thinking, but more pressure.

0:48:55 > 0:49:04Wow. This is perfection from Dimitrov. It really is.

0:49:10 > 0:49:19Cruising to the semi-finals on debut.Sue asked me back to the

0:49:19 > 0:49:24studio after this match, can you tell her I'm busy? I've got another

0:49:24 > 0:49:28appointment that just cropped up! Don't worry I'm going to mangle you

0:49:28 > 0:49:38before you get there! I just feel sorry for Goffin at this

0:49:38 > 0:49:50point, you do feel it, when the crowd start oohing and ahing.

0:49:50 > 0:49:53That's the problem in this day and age and certainly for a player like

0:49:53 > 0:49:59Goffin who is a fantastic player, top ten in the world for a reason,

0:49:59 > 0:50:04Plan B, what is Plan B? Is there a Plan B? He's not someone that can

0:50:04 > 0:50:10suddenly start chipping and charging, serving and volleying.

0:50:10 > 0:50:19Getting so few opportunities from Dimitrov.

0:51:48 > 0:52:01OK, that's some light in the darkness for Goffin.

0:54:50 > 0:54:59So, this is as rare as hen's teeth. This is a break point for Goffin. A

0:54:59 > 0:55:07chance for him to salvage some pride out of the ashes of his predictions.

0:55:14 > 0:55:20That didn't last long.

0:56:44 > 0:56:49Well, it's a real shame for Goffin. He had a single break point there

0:56:49 > 0:56:54and he's striking the ball generally pretty well. Just absolutely been

0:56:54 > 0:57:05played off the court. It turns into a bit of embarrassment, but we

0:57:05 > 0:57:11should celebrate the Dimitrov performance. The Bulgarians can't

0:57:11 > 0:57:19get enough of him. He has won Sports Person of the Year. He realised he

0:57:19 > 0:57:27had to get out and to improve himself he went to the south Sanchez

0:57:27 > 0:57:32Academy. So from an early age he has been travelling and it toughened him

0:57:32 > 0:57:36up, but he has been out there for ten years as a professional, but we

0:57:36 > 0:57:39are seeing a different sort of Dimitrov than we have seen before,

0:57:39 > 0:57:45Tim.He's normally associated with the flamboyant shot making ability,

0:57:45 > 0:57:49but here he has been so good mentally, he has been so intense. He

0:57:49 > 0:57:58had no let ups and given his opponent so little to hold on to and

0:57:58 > 0:58:02it's an uncomfortable position, nine games in a row and without a major

0:58:02 > 0:58:07weapon, a big serve to get three points. It's very difficult to see

0:58:07 > 0:58:14how Goffin can get back into it. Thinking of those people stars that

0:58:14 > 0:58:19made, I'm really into Stevie Wonder at the moment, they have got great

0:58:19 > 0:58:27music. It is not as loud as it was on the first day or two. Thinking

0:58:27 > 0:58:38about the football stars.

0:58:42 > 0:58:47Dimitrov 3-0 up second set.

0:59:29 > 0:59:39Did Roger beat Gastro in the Tour Finals?

0:59:43 > 0:59:49You looked that up!

1:00:07 > 1:00:14This is amazing. Oh boy, poor old Goffin.

1:00:14 > 1:00:19You know he did and I don't know what year it was, in Shanghai, I am

1:00:19 > 1:00:26being told. I will save you the trouble of poking your phone!

1:00:26 > 1:00:34How do you beat Gaudio 11-0?

1:00:50 > 1:00:53And if he was playing that badly, it would be fine, but it's not that

1:00:53 > 1:01:05bad.Federer's was in the semis. Ridiculous. This guy who is about to

1:01:05 > 1:01:10lose zero and zero maybe, beats Nadal on Monday.

1:01:24 > 1:01:32Make an effort, Dimitrov! For! Just charging after everything. The first

1:01:32 > 1:01:36piece of court coverage was this. Slid into this, was off and running

1:01:36 > 1:01:40again. Thought he was able to pick it up.

1:01:47 > 1:02:01Yes. This is going to be a big roar if you can pump another server in

1:02:01 > 1:02:07here.Never a good feeling when you get sympathetic applause, but it's

1:02:07 > 1:02:13good when you hear it.Maybe it's the start of the comeback.

1:02:21 > 1:02:45Yes! Game on. It took 48 minutes to put his foot on the first step. It's

1:02:45 > 1:02:49only one break.

1:03:16 > 1:03:20Here we go.

1:03:28 > 1:03:33Irrespective of the score and irrespective of his performance,

1:03:33 > 1:03:37Goffin has stayed pretty level-headed. It would be easy to

1:03:37 > 1:03:40throw his toys out of the pram.

1:04:22 > 1:04:27The grin on your face.On your birthday, I can't get more generous

1:04:27 > 1:04:34than this. Do you want to change your pick?I wouldn't do it for many

1:04:34 > 1:04:39people, but I am prepared, if you want to change.I will stick with it

1:04:39 > 1:04:43now, but come back to me in ten minutes. Keep the offer open. I have

1:04:43 > 1:04:54to consult the committee. He's got a coaching violation! And that's a

1:04:54 > 1:05:04little bit odd.Just leave it, he's saying.The coach told you to use

1:05:04 > 1:05:16your forehand. You might not have heard it, but he did.You feel like

1:05:16 > 1:05:19you are being informed upon by somebody in the class who has gone

1:05:19 > 1:05:23to the teacher when that happens. It's really irritating. It's

1:05:23 > 1:05:27annoying if you get a code violation when you don't even hear what the

1:05:27 > 1:05:31coach said, and the line judge did.

1:05:43 > 1:05:53Where does the encouragement that he is giving now, where to step in,

1:05:53 > 1:06:00what's the difference with that?Use your forehand is pretty clear-cut.

1:06:00 > 1:06:05Step in, that's pretty clear.Use your feet, it's a tough one.

1:06:18 > 1:06:24I don't like it, the line judges taking it upon themselves to sneak

1:06:24 > 1:06:30to the teacher. You would let it annoy you.You were so good in

1:06:30 > 1:06:34school, nothing would bother you.I don't think school has much to do

1:06:34 > 1:06:39with it, but you do get grumpy.It doesn't take much.

1:06:42 > 1:06:52I think Greg Dimitrov has handled it perfectly.

1:07:02 > 1:07:04Greg Orton Greg

1:07:38 > 1:07:41that's tremendous.

1:08:57 > 1:09:06Dani Vallverdu, he used to be with Tomas Berdych. A bit of to do down

1:09:06 > 1:09:12there. Do you remember that? Murray against Berdych, because he was with

1:09:12 > 1:09:14Murray for so long.

1:09:21 > 1:09:29Challenging the call on the right baseline. The ball was called out.

1:09:29 > 1:09:35It's this fella on the line. Put him under the spotlight here. Go and

1:09:35 > 1:09:46tell on your player, will you? You know what, fair enough. He's on his

1:09:46 > 1:09:55game, this guy.Did he just gulp?He said, never in doubt.I think he has

1:09:55 > 1:09:59a guilty looking face.

1:10:06 > 1:10:18This is getting close. If Dimitrov is unable to get through this game,

1:10:18 > 1:10:25you will have had a pretty rotten 12 or 13 minutes in self.

1:10:45 > 1:10:50Heavy, flat approach shot. If that's what this is. Belted into the

1:10:50 > 1:10:54corner. It's going through this surface quite a bit quicker than

1:10:54 > 1:10:57last year.

1:11:05 > 1:11:08Fabulous.

1:12:28 > 1:12:38I think that fist was over to his coach. But not exactly sure. Could

1:12:38 > 1:12:42have been over at the line judge. He was only doing his job. We are just

1:12:42 > 1:12:48having a bit of fun. The coach is not allowed on court. Grigor

1:12:48 > 1:12:53Dimitrov has had a number of coaches over the years. In-store tomorrow on

1:12:53 > 1:12:56BBC Two...

1:13:04 > 1:13:10Roger Federer free from the shackles of waiting to find out if he has

1:13:10 > 1:13:17qualified or not. Some freelancing for Roger Federer, enjoying himself

1:13:17 > 1:13:22against Marin Cilic. A repeat of the Wimbledon final for the O2 crowd.

1:13:22 > 1:13:32With Alex Zverev later on in the evening playing for second position

1:13:32 > 1:13:36against Jack Sock. That should be entertaining. Dimitrov has had a

1:13:36 > 1:13:39number of coaches over the years. Seems to have settled with Dani

1:13:39 > 1:13:49Vallverdu. Has had a number of coaches including the taskmaster

1:13:49 > 1:14:01Australian Rodger Rashid. Before that there was Mouratoglou. Before

1:14:01 > 1:14:10that was Peter McNamara, who was disappointed to lose him as Dimitrov

1:14:10 > 1:14:18became an adult. 18 years of age. Peter Lundgren at the beginning. And

1:14:18 > 1:14:23also Franco Davin.

1:15:48 > 1:15:53He lists that as his favourite shot, the backhand down the line. Feels

1:15:53 > 1:15:56great for a single-handed to get hold of one of those. Seeing the

1:15:56 > 1:16:00ball so well.

1:16:29 > 1:16:34That's nicely done.

1:16:41 > 1:16:52Variation. Nothing wrong with it, really.Is this a slight fake?No,

1:16:52 > 1:16:55not really.

1:17:15 > 1:17:21Brilliant shot from Dimitrov. A solid return to get the ball back so

1:17:21 > 1:17:24deep from Goffin, but stepping in on the half-volley. Nudging it down the

1:17:24 > 1:17:27line.

1:17:54 > 1:18:00It looked a bit wide, didn't it? Outside edge, if anything, you would

1:18:00 > 1:18:09have thought. Wide indeed. Your eyesight is better than your

1:18:09 > 1:18:12predictions!

1:18:29 > 1:18:34What a waste. That will make a play across.Second serve return, he has

1:18:34 > 1:18:38to be aggressive. At this stage of the match he has to be aggressive

1:18:38 > 1:18:41and make it.

1:19:00 > 1:19:13After a struggle, completing the service game.That's very

1:19:13 > 1:19:17comfortable, turning up, a set anti-do. Going back to that Federer

1:19:17 > 1:19:23and Zverev match, we have seen a lot of good matches this week, but the

1:19:23 > 1:19:29work of the physical coaches often goes unnoticed. Jez Green is getting

1:19:29 > 1:19:33Alex Zverev to put weight on gradually. They reckon it's a two or

1:19:33 > 1:19:37three-year process. Noticeable yesterday that Zverev is much

1:19:37 > 1:19:46stronger than he was. I want to salute the good work of Jez and

1:19:46 > 1:19:52those trainers. You can't just do it in a few weeks. It takes time.Yes,

1:19:52 > 1:19:56you have to grow into your body naturally. He's six foot six. You

1:19:56 > 1:20:01don't want to rush that process. He is stronger in his legs. As he

1:20:01 > 1:20:06matures and grows into his body, he will put on some good weight. Muscle

1:20:06 > 1:20:14mass, helping with his endurance, movement and injury prevention.

1:20:14 > 1:20:18Another step on the way to becoming one of the best players if not the

1:20:18 > 1:20:22best player in the world at one stage. They do have specific goals

1:20:22 > 1:20:32on how they want to accumulate that weight. It remains to be seen where

1:20:32 > 1:20:35the defending champion and former world number one Andy Murray will be

1:20:35 > 1:20:40when he tries to come back in about six weeks or so. That'll be at

1:20:40 > 1:20:46Brisbane ahead of the Australian Open. We hope he's OK. No word about

1:20:46 > 1:20:52his hip, apart from glorified silence. You don't hear much.He

1:20:52 > 1:20:58keeps his cards close to his chest and rightly so. He's working very

1:20:58 > 1:21:01hard. He was in Scott and for his charity foundation event against

1:21:01 > 1:21:06Federer and we all like to think he's moving in the right direction.

1:21:06 > 1:21:10-- he was in Scotland.

1:22:31 > 1:22:35We go back a couple of days and Dimitrov had some trouble serving

1:22:35 > 1:22:42out the match against Dominic Thiem. Lost his serve. You sense from his

1:22:42 > 1:22:44intensity here that he is keen to finish off without going through

1:22:44 > 1:22:47that process.

1:22:59 > 1:23:03At the other end of the court, Goffin will appreciate he has been

1:23:03 > 1:23:08given a lesson up to this point, but he still wants Dimitrov to serve it

1:23:08 > 1:23:10out.

1:24:33 > 1:24:41That was a point for the semifinals on debut for Dimitrov. Expect the

1:24:41 > 1:24:45nerves to be jangling a little bit for the Bulgarian. Well done to

1:24:45 > 1:24:50Goffin, still hanging in there.

1:26:12 > 1:26:20A second semifinal point for Dimitrov. One hour and 12 minutes

1:26:20 > 1:26:22played.

1:26:29 > 1:26:34No.

1:27:49 > 1:27:55CHEERING AND APPLAUSE At the third time of asking, Grigor

1:27:55 > 1:27:58Dimitrov with the forehand down the line to complete a comprehensive

1:27:58 > 1:28:06victory. One hour and 14 in the end. The third match point. Dimitrov gets

1:28:06 > 1:28:16the job done. He's into the semifinals at the ATP Tour finals.

1:28:16 > 1:28:22And this is what it means to him. It's wonderful, really. We have seen

1:28:22 > 1:28:27him in London, ever since Chris, the boss of the ATP Tour, gave him a

1:28:27 > 1:28:32wildcard and gave him criticism for it, at Queen's Club. He won that

1:28:32 > 1:28:37event. A semifinalist at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. As now at

1:28:37 > 1:28:42least a semifinalist here in London. Well done to him. David Goffin lives

1:28:42 > 1:28:46to fight another day. He could still go through from the group. He has

1:28:46 > 1:28:51beaten Rafa Nadal this week, although that's thrashing will have

1:28:51 > 1:28:56hurt him. Let's hope he bounces back and realise is that these things can

1:28:56 > 1:28:58happen.

1:29:02 > 1:29:07We have seen some wonderful matches this week. The Zverev and Federer

1:29:07 > 1:29:12encounter last night was wonderful. The Nadal and Goffin match was

1:29:12 > 1:29:17wonderful. As was Cilic against Sock yesterday afternoon. There is an

1:29:17 > 1:29:22awful lot more to come this week. We hope you are enjoying it. This one

1:29:22 > 1:29:27wasn't spectacular, very one-sided. The excellent tennis was coming from

1:29:27 > 1:29:36Dimitrov. It's a new Dimitrov at 26 years of age. The best is yet to

1:29:36 > 1:29:40come, I think, from Dimitrov. A very strong performance. We should find

1:29:40 > 1:29:43out what he made of that performance. He's talking to

1:29:43 > 1:29:51Annabel.Well played, that was a masterclass out here. You were on

1:29:51 > 1:29:56fire. Give your thoughts on that performance.I'm just thinking right

1:29:56 > 1:30:01now, as soon as it finished, you get a fair few days out of the year that

1:30:01 > 1:30:05whatever you touch turns to gold. I think today, that was the first set

1:30:05 > 1:30:09for sure. You have days like that, simple as that. But I work for those

1:30:09 > 1:30:15days. It's very nice when they come on such an occasion. I'm very

1:30:15 > 1:30:21humbled to win that match. I just wanted to come out and compete

1:30:21 > 1:30:28today. Again, very grateful. It's just a special win for me. We have

1:30:28 > 1:30:32played quite a few times against each other and we know our games so

1:30:32 > 1:30:39well. There was also a little bit... CHEERING

1:30:44 > 1:30:48It's a special day for surement I just want to say thanks to my team.

1:30:48 > 1:30:51My family and friends are here. They are my family too. All my family

1:30:51 > 1:31:04came to support me. So it's and you guys... And yeah, we move on.Well,

1:31:04 > 1:31:08as you say, you have plenty of support here. You talked about the

1:31:08 > 1:31:11nerves the other day. You seemed to play with a lot of ease, but you

1:31:11 > 1:31:15played with a lot of variety. What aspects of your game were you most

1:31:15 > 1:31:20pleased with today?I think my movement was great. I was putting a

1:31:20 > 1:31:24lot of returns back on the court. I was just believing in my shots, as

1:31:24 > 1:31:28simple as that and following my game. I think the moment you start

1:31:28 > 1:31:32over thinking when you play tennis is the moment you're going to miss

1:31:32 > 1:31:36and not play and today was all about that. I just followed my thoughts

1:31:36 > 1:31:42and you know I miss, I miss, on to the next one. The next thing you

1:31:42 > 1:31:46know the match is over. I mean I felt I could have played more which

1:31:46 > 1:31:55is great. Yeah.Yes! Well, just finally, the yes, of

1:31:55 > 1:31:59course, it has come up on the big screen, it means you have qualified

1:31:59 > 1:32:07for the semi-finals. You have one more match to play. How excited are

1:32:07 > 1:32:11you to be playing here at the weekend as well?Well, that was my

1:32:11 > 1:32:15goal. Another step ahead, but still every match is very important to me.

1:32:15 > 1:32:20It doesn't matter if I qualified or not, I'm just going to follow my

1:32:20 > 1:32:24rhythm and follow what I have been doing right and yeah, keep on

1:32:24 > 1:32:29playing. I'm not here just to participate, I am here to come out

1:32:29 > 1:32:34and play game like that, when it comes to moments like that, I

1:32:34 > 1:32:37appreciate it even more.It was a special performance today. Well

1:32:37 > 1:32:47done, Grigor Dimitrov. Thanks, guys. He speaks as well as he plays. He

1:32:47 > 1:32:54came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders, and it was a masterclass

1:32:54 > 1:32:57from the young Bulgarian and really fulfilling his potential and doing

1:32:57 > 1:33:07it on a big, big stage and a popular player around the world. The first

1:33:07 > 1:33:13few games, Dimitrov didn't have any answers. He said with his movement,

1:33:13 > 1:33:19the consistency of his hitting, you just wonder where Goffin was going

1:33:19 > 1:33:25to win points. He only one five of the 21 points in the match. He only

1:33:25 > 1:33:28won 21% and Dimitrov was faultless. He has got different strings to his

1:33:28 > 1:33:32bow, but he gave his opponent so little and it was a clinic out

1:33:32 > 1:33:39there.When you see David Goffin, he has got the movement, but he is not

1:33:39 > 1:33:43able to get to the shots and Dimitrov was hitting the corners.

1:33:43 > 1:33:47Outplayed and he is world-class and he can go through to the

1:33:47 > 1:33:52semi-finals. He has got to pick himself up. It is good news that

1:33:52 > 1:33:56there is a day's rest and hitting a few balls, buff got to put this

1:33:56 > 1:33:59behind you and realise that sometimes your opponent is too good.

1:33:59 > 1:34:02The first set was over so fast, everything that could have gone

1:34:02 > 1:34:09Dimitrov's way, did go his way and is just on every ball. He is playing

1:34:09 > 1:34:14by instinct, he is not looking at numbers, he is allowing his talent

1:34:14 > 1:34:21to flow. He thinks about a lot of things, a lot of the time and just

1:34:21 > 1:34:25playing to play, to just to play to win and play with joy. This is what

1:34:25 > 1:34:35he can produce. And aumpb when you have got more strings to your bow,

1:34:35 > 1:34:41it takes you time to find out the correct strategy. Certainly at

1:34:41 > 1:34:47Dimitrov's age 26 you really feel he is putting the pieces of the puzzle

1:34:47 > 1:34:57together and today was an excellent example. We have talked about the

1:34:57 > 1:35:03next gen wondering who was going to push? Perhaps we expected too much

1:35:03 > 1:35:08at 21, 22, 23 years, the players are getting older. It takes time to

1:35:08 > 1:35:14learn how to manage your game and manage your life off the court.

1:35:14 > 1:35:18Grigor is in all the newspapers the whole time and the gossip columns,

1:35:18 > 1:35:23but now, it really looks like it is about the tennis and he realises he

1:35:23 > 1:35:27has got one shot. The next five or six years will be fascinating

1:35:27 > 1:35:33watching his development. What is nice for you is seeing him come into

1:35:33 > 1:35:38net...I thought you were going to say that I bet Goffin in the match.

1:35:38 > 1:35:47That was notable to me against Thiem. 25 times he came in and today

1:35:47 > 1:35:52he wasn't as effective. If he can look to dictate from the back of the

1:35:52 > 1:35:56court and finish the point and his volleying technique is sound, that's

1:35:56 > 1:36:00going to be a dangerous weapon for him.So many weapons. The serve was

1:36:00 > 1:36:05good.The serve was good and everything was good and he is

1:36:05 > 1:36:10playing with joy, what more can you wish for? What more can we wish for?

1:36:10 > 1:36:14Somebody that's so attractive to watch on the court is going to play

1:36:14 > 1:36:18a big part in this tournament. He could go ahead and win this now.You

1:36:18 > 1:36:26guys were talking about the Next Gen event held in Milan. So many rule

1:36:26 > 1:36:29changes, there were shorter sets, Hawk-Eye, no coaching allowed, it

1:36:29 > 1:36:34was fascinating to watch, but what do the players make of it?Some

1:36:34 > 1:36:40rules are not good. Some rules are good. The shot clock I really like.

1:36:40 > 1:36:43Some players are taking too long between the points. I think this

1:36:43 > 1:36:50would be finished with the shot clock. In my opinion having a clock,

1:36:50 > 1:36:55you cannot have the best shot possible. That's my feeling. That's

1:36:55 > 1:36:59just my personal opinion, but it will not be a good idea for the

1:36:59 > 1:37:03show, but if they want to go forward, as I say, no, I have 31,

1:37:03 > 1:37:11I'm not 18 anymore. I don't get... In Milan, the scoring system, I

1:37:11 > 1:37:14didn't like it as much because the sets were too short, too quick and

1:37:14 > 1:37:17you don't get even a chance sometimes if you lose your serve you

1:37:17 > 1:37:22don't get a chance to come back. So that's a little bit tricky with the

1:37:22 > 1:37:29shot clock I really like it? Coaching, also not really.I think

1:37:29 > 1:37:33the automatic line calls are great because then there is no mistakes in

1:37:33 > 1:37:40tennis anymore. That's a great thing. I think the shot clock, if it

1:37:40 > 1:37:45gets adjusted, some changes made to it, I think that has potential.I

1:37:45 > 1:37:48think it's very interesting to watch them all and that's what it is there

1:37:48 > 1:37:51for is really just to see what is interesting. What could we learn

1:37:51 > 1:37:57from it? The time clock is a good idea, but do we have to set it in

1:37:57 > 1:38:01stone? It becomes quite stressful. That's why a lot of players were

1:38:01 > 1:38:07cramping or feeling stressed about it. I don't like that every point

1:38:07 > 1:38:11counts almost like duvenlt there is enough pressure moments in a tennis

1:38:11 > 1:38:16match. I was enjoying watching the next generation play in Milan and we

1:38:16 > 1:38:21will see when we put everything on the table and let's pick and choose

1:38:21 > 1:38:26what could make the game of tennis better. It is interesting. People

1:38:26 > 1:38:30want sport to be quicker. It happened in cricket, and they are

1:38:30 > 1:38:36looking at it in tennis and it is going to have pros and cons. There

1:38:36 > 1:38:40is debate from the fans and the players. I thought that event was a

1:38:40 > 1:38:43fantastic place to really try some of these things and there is one

1:38:43 > 1:38:48aspect of it, you know, for me on court coaching is, you know, is a

1:38:48 > 1:38:52no, no, one of the great histories and traditions of the sport is

1:38:52 > 1:38:55working it out for yourself when it is one against one. Automatic line

1:38:55 > 1:39:00calling system is interesting. If we have got the technology I think

1:39:00 > 1:39:03Hawk-Eye has been a brilliant addition because we know how hard it

1:39:03 > 1:39:07is to call the lines when the ball is travelling quickly. This is a

1:39:07 > 1:39:11debate that's going to go on and on and I'm sure some of these things

1:39:11 > 1:39:18will be implemented in certain levels of the games. One player said

1:39:18 > 1:39:23right from the word go, it mattered. But in this shorter set, you don't?

1:39:23 > 1:39:28It was extremely rushed at times, but they were, even though they got

1:39:28 > 1:39:3225 seconds between points, Marin Cilic is not going to have time to

1:39:32 > 1:39:37get the ball bounces in on the serves. I like the shot clock and I

1:39:37 > 1:39:42like the automatic line calls. I don't there is any need to get rid

1:39:42 > 1:39:46of the net cords.Having said that, the Hawk-Eye adds drama in a match

1:39:46 > 1:39:52when it goes to the screen?Hawk-Eye can't inform on you like that line

1:39:52 > 1:39:57judge. It is not going to walk over to the umpire! You would lose the

1:39:57 > 1:40:02human interaction. If you feel that's a negative, you can argue

1:40:02 > 1:40:09about that. Getting the calls right is 100%. I think no ad, not on the

1:40:09 > 1:40:15first deuce, might be a nice thing to do. That would lessen the

1:40:15 > 1:40:20accelerated feel a bit. If you look at viewing figures, they go up

1:40:20 > 1:40:25towards the end of sets. If you have more moments of importance like the

1:40:25 > 1:40:30end of sets out there, that has to be good for tennis as a product, I

1:40:30 > 1:40:34can see that come in. Tim will say not in the Grand Slams because there

1:40:34 > 1:40:39is not a problem, and I agree with that.It would be difficult to do it

1:40:39 > 1:40:43during the year and then you come to a Grand Slam and the next minute you

1:40:43 > 1:40:47are on one lasting four hours? That's right. You could say the same

1:40:47 > 1:40:53in cricket. It has been a success, Twenty20 works. It is about getting

1:40:53 > 1:40:57the balance right and you know let's not forget that the Grand Slams have

1:40:57 > 1:41:01been around for a long, long time, they are the corner stones of our

1:41:01 > 1:41:05sport and there isn't anything wrong with them and I say if it ain't

1:41:05 > 1:41:10broke, don't fix it. In some of the other events if the 250s want to try

1:41:10 > 1:41:15it and if it worked its way through to 250s, 500s and then we saw it in

1:41:15 > 1:41:19Masters 1000s then for sure the slams will look and say, well this

1:41:19 > 1:41:23has been a success, is it going to be beneficial to our events? I think

1:41:23 > 1:41:28there is a real talking point. I was with the serving aspect the no let,

1:41:28 > 1:41:35you can hit a net cord on every other shot so why can't you hit a

1:41:35 > 1:41:39net cord on a serve? Having seen it and understood how the players dealt

1:41:39 > 1:41:42with it, there is an easy one that I would be probably more inclined to

1:41:42 > 1:41:46support.Halfs amazing was the talent that is coming through in the

1:41:46 > 1:41:51game. We're worrying about the likes of Roger and Rafa coming to the end

1:41:51 > 1:41:54of their career and the injuries that we have seen, but there is some

1:41:54 > 1:42:01bright players coming through?You don't know really know what you're

1:42:01 > 1:42:11going to get.

1:42:13 > 1:42:19So, players coming through with charisma and exciting tennis. Maybe

1:42:19 > 1:42:23this generation will be the ones that can replace the box office

1:42:23 > 1:42:30ones.From that event there is almost been too much talk about you

1:42:30 > 1:42:35know no ads and the automatic like scoring system. They are great

1:42:35 > 1:42:39players. I remember when the evint was talked about, there was a

1:42:39 > 1:42:44question mark are the guys going to be ranked 200 to 300, is it going to

1:42:44 > 1:42:50have appeal? But those are eight proper players that are going to be

1:42:50 > 1:42:56around for a long time. When there has been talk about Djokovic, Murray

1:42:56 > 1:43:08and Federer.Alexander Zverev could have been there, he is hashtag, "I'm

1:43:08 > 1:43:16already there, thanks."The Next Gen radio extent people's careers. We're

1:43:16 > 1:43:23back tomorrow on BBC Two for Roger Federer against Marin Cilic. Tim

1:43:23 > 1:43:27will probably choose Cilic. Today, it was a masterful performance from

1:43:27 > 1:43:30Grigor Dimitrov who sent a message to the others that he is in form. I

1:43:30 > 1:43:40hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. From all of us here, bye-bye.

1:43:40 > 1:43:43Dimitrov victory takes him through to the semi-finals.He's playing

1:43:43 > 1:43:50well, really, really well.What a point! Fantastic.

1:43:50 > 1:43:57Cruising to the semi-finals on debut. This is amazing. Oh boy. Poor

1:43:57 > 1:44:02old Goffin. Dimitrov completes a comprehensive victory.
