:00:45. > :00:52.Welcome to the first round of the emirate 's FA Cup. Our story starts
:00:53. > :00:59.here in the north-west of England. The stage is the city of Salford.
:01:00. > :01:02.It's been written by a famous five, but the tale so far has been drama
:01:03. > :01:09.all the way. No matter where in the world and whatever level, every club
:01:10. > :01:13.has dreams. For me and my brother Gary, Paul, Nicky and Ryan, it was
:01:14. > :01:24.Premier League titles and European glory. 16 FA Cup winners medals
:01:25. > :01:31.between them. Now this is our dream. We bought a football club.
:01:32. > :01:38.And it's been... Different! Not everyone was happy. And there's been
:01:39. > :01:43.a few bumps along the way. Why did we buy a football club? But I
:01:44. > :01:48.wouldn't change it for the world. Now here we are, the first round of
:01:49. > :01:51.the FA Cup, against the oldest club in the Football League, Notts
:01:52. > :01:56.County. They are the ones with all the history. We're just the minnows,
:01:57. > :02:02.the underdogs. Hard to believe? You believe it. We still have dreams and
:02:03. > :02:17.we know more than most that dreams do come true.
:02:18. > :02:23.The owners know their stuff, as Phil Neville mentioned there is quite a
:02:24. > :02:28.history for tonight macro-birds visitors as well though. Notts
:02:29. > :02:32.County victory this competition back in the 19th century and have much
:02:33. > :02:38.experience in their current crop, there is Roy Carroll, who used to
:02:39. > :02:44.play for Old Trafford -- at Old Trafford. Salford city from the
:02:45. > :02:49.seventh tier of being list game, taking on Notts County from League
:02:50. > :02:52.2, three divisions above them. It's a sell-out here from Moor Lane.
:02:53. > :02:56.Thankfully we have a man here who did not have much of an issue
:02:57. > :03:01.getting a ticket, Gary Neville is with us to night, alongside our
:03:02. > :03:06.neutral, Mr Ian Wright. One of the class of 92 and one of the owners,
:03:07. > :03:10.for those who don't know, of Salford city. Gary, when you and your fellow
:03:11. > :03:14.friends took over 18 months ago, did you ever think about a night like
:03:15. > :03:19.this, being promoted, being fought in the division as we stand and
:03:20. > :03:23.being in the first round of the FA Cup? Not at all. We weren't thinking
:03:24. > :03:27.about the FA Cup at all, we were thinking about an academy and
:03:28. > :03:30.improving the first team. Since Christmas, the new managers have
:03:31. > :03:34.come in and they have been absolutely brilliant. They have
:03:35. > :03:37.lifted the whole place. The performances have been getting
:03:38. > :03:43.better and better and the results as well. I still can't believe we're in
:03:44. > :03:49.the FA Cup first round! This man alongside you, you're genuinely
:03:50. > :03:54.excited about a night? Yeah. I played in the FA Cup for my Saturday
:03:55. > :03:59.team. I'm quite buzzing for the guys because this is such an unbelievable
:04:00. > :04:03.occasion for the guys. I'm sure they will be very nervous but I said to
:04:04. > :04:08.one of the guys, you've got to be very nervous, this is what it is all
:04:09. > :04:16.about. Let's remind you exactly how far we are going to find Salford
:04:17. > :04:20.city. This would be a... For the players tonight, this is a huge
:04:21. > :04:27.occasion. A chance show them what they are made of. When Gary
:04:28. > :04:32.mentioned some of the FA Cup medals he has got between him and Nicky and
:04:33. > :04:36.Paul Scholes and myself, I have got two myself and one loses one, but I
:04:37. > :04:42.did my job on the day! But the fact is, for us guys we are fortunate
:04:43. > :04:46.enough to play in a few times and get to the final. For these guys, to
:04:47. > :04:50.get to the first round, this is unbelievable for them and they may
:04:51. > :04:56.not get to this level again. Lots of people have seen the documentary.
:04:57. > :05:02.These guys have had a camera in their face for the last 18 months.
:05:03. > :05:05.They won't be starstruck, will they? I don't think they will be
:05:06. > :05:09.starstruck. Their potential failings tonight might be that they are too
:05:10. > :05:14.ego. When you see some of the challenges that go in at the level
:05:15. > :05:17.we play at and then we have got a Championship referee, their
:05:18. > :05:23.eagerness could be a problem. That is what worries me. What about their
:05:24. > :05:28.fitness? I don't have any concerns about their fitness. They are really
:05:29. > :05:32.fit lads. The manager has brought in Hungary, passionate lads. They are
:05:33. > :05:37.eager in the way they play but that can be a bit over exuberant. We have
:05:38. > :05:41.had a couple of players sent off! It's not just these two to night,
:05:42. > :05:46.we've also got Trevor Sinclair, who lit up the early rounds of the FA
:05:47. > :05:53.Cup with his wonderful hat collection last season. He also came
:05:54. > :05:57.in as assistant manager... It got a bit tasty on the touchline so we
:05:58. > :06:02.thought we would reunite Trevor with Salford City ointment is. It was
:06:03. > :06:09.certainly lively on the touchline that day! You have got some presence
:06:10. > :06:15.in the technical area, is that something you're looking to calm or
:06:16. > :06:20.is it a case of if it's not broke, don't fix it? We have been here for
:06:21. > :06:25.seven seasons and so far it has stood as in pretty good stead, Jon
:06:26. > :06:30.Stead playing tonight... It has stood us in good stead. If it's not
:06:31. > :06:33.broke, we won't try and fix it too much. There are probably one or two
:06:34. > :06:39.things to work on and the owners keep telling us that, but so far it
:06:40. > :06:43.has been great fun. You have had the show Class of 92 and the FA Cup
:06:44. > :06:50.draw. How has it been to try to keep the players, and concentrated? It
:06:51. > :06:54.has been difficult, to be honest. We beat Southport two weeks ago and
:06:55. > :06:57.then we had Matlock in the league on Tuesday night. As much as you try
:06:58. > :07:02.and make sure the boys are professional, it's difficult to try
:07:03. > :07:05.and raise your game when you know you have got the FA Cup first round
:07:06. > :07:09.with the draw being done the night before and Notts County in the first
:07:10. > :07:13.round. To be honest it has been difficult keeping the lads's feet on
:07:14. > :07:17.the ground. But they are buzzing, absolutely buzzing. There are one or
:07:18. > :07:23.two nerves, I would imagine, but more excitement than anything else.
:07:24. > :07:25.Bernard, you have the Class of 92, probably the most recognisable
:07:26. > :07:29.footballers of the Premier League era running your football club, does
:07:30. > :07:36.that add a bit of extra pressure? Yeah, absolutely. How to impress the
:07:37. > :07:41.likes of the Nevilles, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, we could win 5-0 and
:07:42. > :07:48.they could still pick fault! But we are learning from the best. They get
:07:49. > :07:53.involved? If we want their advice they are there and if we get it
:07:54. > :07:59.wrong, I'm sure they are there to give us a nudge. Thanks, gentlemen.
:08:00. > :08:05.The Class of 92 appointed those two. Good evening everybody. You can do a
:08:06. > :08:10.bit better than that! I'm sure they will get cracking once the game
:08:11. > :08:17.kicks off. Quite a few stars of Salford city, there is the famous
:08:18. > :08:21.Babs' team bar there and if you've seen the documentary, you will know
:08:22. > :08:26.these faces. Karen Baird is the club chairman and also Andy is the club
:08:27. > :08:31.secretary and as a bit of absolutely everything. Karen, how hard has it
:08:32. > :08:34.been for you to deal with the five superstars who have been involved
:08:35. > :08:41.with this club? They've been pretty good actually. Easy to deal with.
:08:42. > :08:44.Gary is the most demanding person I've ever met! But apart from that
:08:45. > :08:47.they are all down to deal with. Gary is the most demanding person I've
:08:48. > :08:50.ever met! But apart from that they are all down-to-earth, good lads.
:08:51. > :08:55.?67,500 plus hot dogs, you can do a lot with that money, can't you? We
:08:56. > :08:58.can, we need a lot doing with the ground to get as ready for the next
:08:59. > :09:03.level should we get promoted. That is where most of the money will have
:09:04. > :09:09.to go. I believe you were a little underwhelmed when you first met Gary
:09:10. > :09:16.and Ryan, just explain why? I'm a Liverpool fan! But they are great,
:09:17. > :09:19.yeah. You can forgive us for focusing on the home side tonight
:09:20. > :09:23.but as we mentioned earlier, Notts County are really a team with a rich
:09:24. > :09:27.tradition and history. Look at them out there on the pitch at the
:09:28. > :09:31.moment, actually that is Salford but the Notts County boys are just going
:09:32. > :09:36.in the blue, there. They are one of the founder members of the Football
:09:37. > :09:40.League back in 1888. They won the FA Cup six years later as well. Plenty
:09:41. > :09:46.of Premier League experience in tonight's team, there is Roy
:09:47. > :09:47.Carroll, and some including him have shared a dressing room with those
:09:48. > :09:54.Salford owners. Salford city will be at home to
:09:55. > :10:00.Notts County. I was at the gym and one of my mates told me we have been
:10:01. > :10:05.drawn against Salford. We have to be ready for the battle. A lot of our
:10:06. > :10:10.younger players grew up watching the Class of 92 and I think that will
:10:11. > :10:13.give the game and added buzz. The class of 92 was an amazing
:10:14. > :10:20.experience for me. I played in the FA youth cup that season, which
:10:21. > :10:24.obviously everyone knows. Very privileged to play with them players
:10:25. > :10:29.and see what they've gone on to achieve. It's amazing. For me
:10:30. > :10:37.personally, I didn't really know much of them until I came over. It
:10:38. > :10:43.will never happen again, will it? Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil
:10:44. > :10:50.Neville, Paul Scholes. Best midfield player I've ever played with. Just
:10:51. > :10:55.give him the ball. He can get from box to box. He scored a lot of goals
:10:56. > :10:57.like that. COMMENTATOR: Manchester United have
:10:58. > :11:10.taken the lead! Their I didn't really realise how much of
:11:11. > :11:14.an impact and a change they had made to the whole club itself. It's very
:11:15. > :11:21.interesting and a massive challenge for them. Here is Gary Neville,
:11:22. > :11:25.looking for Ryan Giggs, here's Alan Smith! Brilliant goal. I wouldn't
:11:26. > :11:32.imagine they've changed in terms of people at all. That is what is so
:11:33. > :11:35.special about it. After their careers of playing had finished,
:11:36. > :11:45.they stayed together to do another venture. I never thought Paul
:11:46. > :11:49.Scholes would even go on TV! I think everyone is looking forward to this
:11:50. > :11:54.game. But it's going to be a difficult game. We signed 20 new
:11:55. > :11:59.players in the summer. For any club, it's going to take time. We had a
:12:00. > :12:07.massive game last week against Portsmouth. Come to the Monday
:12:08. > :12:11.morning and it is the FA Cup again. Salford and the
:12:12. > :12:20.Salford have got a big club. The club that we play for now, the
:12:21. > :12:26.history of it is something we've got to protect. We are proud to play for
:12:27. > :12:30.Notts County. To say you have played for the oldest Football League club
:12:31. > :12:38.in the world, it's a big honour. For a lot of them it might be the first
:12:39. > :12:43.time they have played in the FA Cup, and it will be a nice contrast and
:12:44. > :12:48.probably a game that a lot of our lads, ourselves included, will
:12:49. > :12:53.member for a long time to come. They are all ready for tonight. There is
:12:54. > :12:58.a chat with you -- shot of you having a chat with Alan Smith. I was
:12:59. > :13:01.just talking to him about what he was up to and was he looking forward
:13:02. > :13:09.to the game? Looking handsome, isn't he! He is gorgeous! Alan Smith is
:13:10. > :13:14.gorgeous! Thank you for that insight! We've had a tweet from your
:13:15. > :13:17.brother Dilip who is working with Valencia, playing Celta Vigo
:13:18. > :13:24.tomorrow. He wishes he could be here. -- your brother Philip. We're
:13:25. > :13:28.going to speak to Nicky Butt at half-time but Paul is a nervous to
:13:29. > :13:35.come out! I think so, yeah! LAUGHTER
:13:36. > :13:38.Are you nervous, genuinely? I'm not nervous at all. I get nervous when
:13:39. > :13:43.we play league games because our focal point has always been the
:13:44. > :13:45.league. The committee, the 14, 15 people who have been working down
:13:46. > :13:49.here 20 years and giving their all for the club, I've never seen them
:13:50. > :13:55.as happy. It's the greatest day of their lives in terms of Salford
:13:56. > :13:59.city. You were telling us about the changes you've had to make for
:14:00. > :14:05.tonight. What have you had to bring in for the game? The marquees and
:14:06. > :14:09.we've had to bring stewards in for one of the only times in our
:14:10. > :14:14.history. The broadcast trucks, the media stuff. It's a big change, a
:14:15. > :14:18.massive change. The food and beverage requirements are huge.
:14:19. > :14:22.Barbara in the cafe, they will be doing a lot to night I think! Notts
:14:23. > :14:26.County also possess a striker who knows a thing or two about scoring
:14:27. > :14:30.in the FA Cup. This is him last season banging the gold in four
:14:31. > :14:35.Bradford, scoring in that 4-2 win against Chelsea. They were 2-0
:14:36. > :14:39.down, remember. And also in the victory over Sunderland in round
:14:40. > :14:46.four. Our roving reporter has tracked him down. Thanks for joining
:14:47. > :14:53.us, John. What is it with you and the FA Cup? It was obviously good
:14:54. > :14:57.for me last season! -- good to me. Scoring goals and also the run that
:14:58. > :15:01.we went on. It just obviously brings that famous magic of the FA Cup
:15:02. > :15:05.which everybody wants to see, the giant killings and hopefully this
:15:06. > :15:08.evening that won't be the case! Underdogs last season against
:15:09. > :15:12.Chelsea and Sunderland, definitely favourites this year. How does that
:15:13. > :15:17.change yours and the team's mentality? You look at the underdog
:15:18. > :15:20.situation and most players up and down the country have been an
:15:21. > :15:24.underdog at some point. I think it just takes the shackles off a bit,
:15:25. > :15:28.you can relax and enjoy the game and anything can happen on the night.
:15:29. > :15:31.The night ourselves being the favourites, although we know how
:15:32. > :15:35.difficult the evening is going to be, if we start the game well and
:15:36. > :15:40.settle into it early, hopefully we can get through to the next round.
:15:41. > :15:45.It is famously owned by the Class of 92 and there was a documentary on it
:15:46. > :15:49.last night. This team can get quite physical, how are you going to
:15:50. > :15:53.handle that? I'm sure we will handle that fine. I didn't watch the
:15:54. > :15:56.documentary but obviously it is great for the club and the area
:15:57. > :15:59.itself that those high profile figures are getting involved in it
:16:00. > :16:02.and you can see how things have progressed at the club. It's great
:16:03. > :16:08.for the club and the area, the physical side of it, been playing
:16:09. > :16:15.for a while now, we know all about that, myself, the likes of Smudger
:16:16. > :16:25.and Alan Smith --, Alan Smith, and Roy Carroll, we know what we can do.
:16:26. > :16:35.This is how they line up the night. Elliott Hewitt at right back is a
:16:36. > :16:41.Welsh U21s layer. Up, with Izale McLeod alongside him, 21 goals last
:16:42. > :16:46.season. Izale McLeod is someone you used to work with at MK Dons? When
:16:47. > :16:51.he hits that goal-scoring form, he will shoot from anywhere. He's got a
:16:52. > :16:55.nice touch as well. It's one of those games, if he is up for this
:16:56. > :16:59.game, he will take some stopping. He's not bad, he's got some good
:17:00. > :17:02.skills about him. Plenty in that site if writing your lads. How
:17:03. > :17:06.important is it they get the mentality right tonight? I think
:17:07. > :17:10.so, one of the things you want to do on a night like tonight when you're
:17:11. > :17:13.playing against opposition that is superior is to keep the game going
:17:14. > :17:17.and make sure you stay in the games as late as possible. If you get to
:17:18. > :17:22.60 or 70 minutes, you are always that one moment away. That is a
:17:23. > :17:26.worry about a night like tonight against a big team, are they going
:17:27. > :17:31.to blitz you in the first 20 minutes? That is when the fitness
:17:32. > :17:36.could kick in, for 60 or 70 minutes, if they are really fit they could
:17:37. > :17:39.kick on from there. They've got to watch out for the killer that is
:17:40. > :17:44.complacency... What are you looking up there for? That is our drone up
:17:45. > :17:50.in the sky! We're talking about football, Mr Wright. You know a
:17:51. > :17:55.thing or two about your football, but when it comes to running a club,
:17:56. > :17:58.it's a very different proposition. Millions of people have watched your
:17:59. > :18:01.documentary about running this club in the past few weeks and been
:18:02. > :18:03.enjoying it as well, but the road, as you know, has not always been a
:18:04. > :18:16.smooth one. I need a new oven. Please can I have
:18:17. > :18:22.a new oven! But a nice man behind the goal and we serve out of there?
:18:23. > :18:27.Can we not just buy one? I could walk away, don't worry, very easily.
:18:28. > :18:36.When I think about it now, it were a bit tight to be fair, shoving her in
:18:37. > :18:42.a van in the car park around the back. Hello! This is my new kitchen.
:18:43. > :18:45.As you can see it's not quite finished yet but nearly there. The
:18:46. > :18:51.most expensive cafe in non-league football!
:18:52. > :19:06.Trouble, trouble... Honestly... It's shocking. I feel like going in and
:19:07. > :19:11.ripping their heads off, do you? My instinct was just go in and listen.
:19:12. > :19:16.I felt like strangling them but I never would have done, I never would
:19:17. > :19:26.have opened my mouth! Players don't hold court in dressing rooms. He
:19:27. > :19:31.stands up and I'm thinking, he is like President Obama! It's like he's
:19:32. > :19:36.the president of Salford! You can't interfere. That's what I'm going to
:19:37. > :19:43.find difficult, because I love the football chat, you know what I mean?
:19:44. > :19:48.We've bought a football club and we can't talk about football! I love
:19:49. > :19:52.the shot of you, Gary, in the changing room, holding your tongue.
:19:53. > :19:59.Let's have a look at the Salford side tonight. Four players in there
:20:00. > :20:04.with league experience. Lynch at left-back. Danny Webber as well. We
:20:05. > :20:07.made the call to him a year and a half ago and we wondered if he would
:20:08. > :20:11.be able to drop down and be stimulated to play at this level but
:20:12. > :20:15.he has been a beacon for us with his attitude and he has controlled the
:20:16. > :20:19.dressing room and made the lads think, if he has played the level he
:20:20. > :20:24.has done and he can give it all, then I can as well. They are getting
:20:25. > :20:27.ready, a few minutes away from a huge night for them. You were saying
:20:28. > :20:32.earlier your concern is keeping 11 players on the pitch? I think so
:20:33. > :20:37.because generally add non-league level that tackling is a lot more
:20:38. > :20:40.ferocious than in the league and these lads get away with tackles
:20:41. > :20:44.that I see every week that might be a red in the Premier League game! If
:20:45. > :20:47.you tackle like that tonight, we could be in a bit of trouble. If the
:20:48. > :20:51.Championship referee we have got plays the game as he would normally
:20:52. > :20:58.on a Saturday. But the chance for one of those to be a hero? A very
:20:59. > :21:02.exciting time for them. People don't realise about the nervous energy,
:21:03. > :21:05.you've got to stay in charge of that, but they should just go out
:21:06. > :21:09.and play because it is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, I can't
:21:10. > :21:19.emphasise that enough. A couple of things to clear up, have you sorted
:21:20. > :21:22.out the hooky Skybox? It's gone! Also we need to apologise because
:21:23. > :21:28.one of our cameras is by your normal standing spot tonight! Great to talk
:21:29. > :21:32.to you, enjoy the game as much as you can. Great to hear that you are
:21:33. > :21:38.not nervous at all. We're getting ready for this, moments away. I know
:21:39. > :21:45.you are very excited. Five months ago a team that you like a lot,
:21:46. > :21:46.Arsenal, won the FA Cup, and our journey to the final this season
:21:47. > :22:20.starts tonight. We are ready for the first game of
:22:21. > :22:27.the first round of this season's Emirates FA Cup. The teams are on
:22:28. > :22:30.their way out. There are millions watching at home and millions around
:22:31. > :22:38.the world. Let's introduce you to your commentary team tonight,
:22:39. > :22:43.Jermaine Jenas and first up, Steve Bauer.
:22:44. > :22:52.Thank you. Welcome to Moor Lane. So much talk about this matter and so
:22:53. > :22:56.eagerly anticipated. Can Salford provide the end result? They've
:22:57. > :23:05.never seen a crowd like this. Their last league attendance was just over
:23:06. > :23:14.400. Tonight, over 1400 are here to see if Salford can produce the
:23:15. > :23:18.shock. On the biggest night in their 75 year history. A club who didn't
:23:19. > :23:26.even compete in the FA Cup until 1990 now have the chance to write
:23:27. > :23:28.their headlines. As far as Notts County are concerned, they are
:23:29. > :23:38.determined not to be part of them, of course. The world's oldest club
:23:39. > :23:43.to beat playing professionally. -- be playing professionally. They will
:23:44. > :23:46.be praying for less drama and a professional night's work. Jay Lynch
:23:47. > :23:54.is the man that Notts County will have to beat. Formally Bolton
:23:55. > :24:00.academy. Lewis Hardcastle in midfield is on a youth loan from
:24:01. > :24:10.Lagan Rovers and Danny Webber is the joint top scorer, over 220 games in
:24:11. > :24:21.English league football. Familiar face in the Notts County
:24:22. > :24:22.goal. It is a former FA Cup winner, the Northern Ireland international
:24:23. > :24:38.Roy Carroll, who is 38 now. Alan Smith has played in an FA Cup
:24:39. > :24:43.final, his final game for Manchester United. Plenty of firepower up
:24:44. > :24:47.front, Jon Stead, who got five goals in the competition last season,
:24:48. > :24:55.alongside Izale McLeod, the former Crawley striker who cost ?150,000 in
:24:56. > :25:05.the summer. A couple of familiar signings among the substitutes with
:25:06. > :25:11.famous fathers. Tunji Moses, the son of Remi, an Chris Sharp is the son
:25:12. > :25:21.of a former FA Cup winner, the former Everton striker Graham. Gary
:25:22. > :25:23.Neville talking about the importance of the red three tonight and it is
:25:24. > :25:41.Andrew madly. -- it is Andrew Madley. He
:25:42. > :25:48.officiated the League 1 play-off final. Roy Carroll came on in 2004
:25:49. > :25:55.for Manchester United to win the FA Cup. The Salford the
:25:56. > :26:09.-- the Salford City captain works nights. Jonathan Stead was big joint
:26:10. > :26:15.top scorer in the FA Cup competition last season, with five goals. But
:26:16. > :26:19.before we have the drama, we do have a minute's silence in respect of
:26:20. > :27:23.those who died fighting for their country.
:27:24. > :27:32.WHISTLE APPLAUSE
:27:33. > :27:35.The moment has finally arrived for Salford city. Currently fourth in
:27:36. > :27:48.the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Against Notts County, 15th
:27:49. > :27:53.in League 2. 59 blazes between them in the football -- the footballing
:27:54. > :28:02.pyramid. -- 59 blazes. One moment, one night, could change all that.
:28:03. > :28:07.That is certainly Salford plus aim. The first time
:28:08. > :28:14.red and white, colours that the Class of 92 changed after they
:28:15. > :28:20.bought the club, from tangerine. They will get us off and under way
:28:21. > :28:27.immediately, with a ball aimed towards Danny Webber. He managed to
:28:28. > :28:34.get it across as well. He began his career at Manchester United. That is
:28:35. > :28:37.a throw to Notts County. Jermaine Jenas, you have been on both sides
:28:38. > :28:43.of the coin really in this situation? I have, it was a while
:28:44. > :28:53.ago but when we were playing for the -- when I was playing for Newcastle
:28:54. > :28:57.United we came up against Yeading. In this kind of situation, you can't
:28:58. > :29:05.win, there is a lot of pressure on your shoulders as the bigger team.
:29:06. > :29:11.But a good start from Salford. Forward by Howson, one of the two
:29:12. > :29:19.central defenders. Scott Burton, who will be an important player in
:29:20. > :29:27.central midfield. That tonight. Stopforth. No way through for Jordan
:29:28. > :29:31.Hulme. Salford have really settled well, they have popped it around a
:29:32. > :29:38.couple of times. A lot of people would have expected them to go long
:29:39. > :29:41.straight up to Webber but they have settled well and not let the
:29:42. > :29:45.occasion get to them too much. If they can continue that, they can
:29:46. > :29:50.grow into this game and gain more confidence. I'm sure that's what the
:29:51. > :29:55.manager will ask them to do. They have to control their aggression.
:29:56. > :29:59.They do. Gary mentioned that at the start of the show. The referee can
:30:00. > :30:03.be different at non-league level. But I'm sure they will have been
:30:04. > :30:05.told that, that they need to maintain their discipline to have
:30:06. > :30:15.any chance of winning this game. Alan Sheehan, on loan from Bradford.
:30:16. > :30:18.The Irishman, who was part of that Bradford squad who won at Stamford
:30:19. > :30:24.Bridge and knocked out Chelsea last season.
:30:25. > :30:29.Ricardo Moniz is the Notts County manager, experiencing the FA Cup as
:30:30. > :30:34.a boss for the first time tonight. He arrived in April, the Dutchman,
:30:35. > :30:39.but couldn't keep Notts County in League 1. He signed 21 players over
:30:40. > :30:46.the summer to try to change them for Jews. The 15th in League 2 at the
:30:47. > :30:55.moment, four points off the play-offs. -- change their fortunes.
:30:56. > :31:03.Harmlessly into the arms of Roy Carroll. One thing that has stood
:31:04. > :31:06.out from that bit of play is the amount of bodies Salford almost
:31:07. > :31:10.risked into the attacking third. There must have been seven players
:31:11. > :31:15.when the ball went forward. Whether that's another style of play they
:31:16. > :31:18.will bring into the game today. But the ball forward and put Notts
:31:19. > :31:23.County under pressure. They are at home, they have to go for it.
:31:24. > :31:30.Anthony Johnson, one of the joint managers. For, the 33-year-old
:31:31. > :31:32.self-employed wagon driver who is hoping to help lead Salford into the
:31:33. > :31:52.second round of the FA Cup. This is the seventh game Salford
:31:53. > :32:00.City have played in the FA Cup already this season. Needed a couple
:32:01. > :32:01.of replays in the qualifying rounds. They very much want this journey to
:32:02. > :32:22.continue. Good work from Stopforth. Thierry Audel, who has come in at
:32:23. > :32:27.left back for Notts County tonight. Nick Barmby's son Jack has been
:32:28. > :32:35.playing there the last couple of games, on loan from Leicester. The
:32:36. > :32:39.Frenchman restored to the back four. Salford playing 4-3-3 could really
:32:40. > :32:44.work. The pitches a lot tighter. They don't want to give Notts County
:32:45. > :32:49.any space and that was at an example. Roy Carroll would usually
:32:50. > :32:52.play it out to right back, but because they have three players up
:32:53. > :32:54.top, it's not allowing them to do that. It's putting County under a
:32:55. > :33:06.lot more pressure. Kyle De Silva has been recalled by
:33:07. > :33:12.Ricardo Moniz tonight. No problem for Jay Lynch. The managers were
:33:13. > :33:16.telling me this week he won them the league last season. 22-year-old who
:33:17. > :33:21.was in Manchester United's Academy and then went to Bolton. He was on
:33:22. > :33:28.the bench three times in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers. Eight
:33:29. > :33:32.miskick from Edwards. It's important to make sure you have a strong
:33:33. > :33:35.foundation. The back form a grand goalkeeper are important in any
:33:36. > :33:39.team. In non-league especially, the last thing you need is your
:33:40. > :33:45.goalkeeper making too many mistakes. Lynch didn't do that last
:33:46. > :33:49.season because they got promoted. Gary Neville watching on, Nicky Butt
:33:50. > :33:54.just in front of him. Paul Scholes as well. Three of the five members
:33:55. > :33:59.of Class of '92 do able to attend tonight. Ryan Giggs watching from
:34:00. > :34:07.the Manchester United team hotel before they play West Brom tomorrow.
:34:08. > :34:13.Phil Neville watching from 2-1 in Spain ahead of Valencia Bosma game
:34:14. > :34:21.tomorrow. -- Valencia's game tomorrow.
:34:22. > :34:32.They have 21 FA Cup winners medals between them. Not bad, is it?
:34:33. > :34:32.Forward from Chris Lynch, the Salford captain, towards Jordan
:34:33. > :34:48.Hulme. A chance for De Silva to stretches
:34:49. > :34:55.legs for Notts County. The referee happy for play to continue. Liam
:34:56. > :35:02.Noble, the former Sunderland youngster. No power generated from
:35:03. > :35:16.Jon Stead. Jay Lynch has kept five clean sheets
:35:17. > :35:20.for Salford this season, including in the fourth qualifying round,
:35:21. > :35:41.crucially, against Southport, the National League team.
:35:42. > :35:48.Cleared in no uncertain terms by Mike Edwards, who is Notts County's
:35:49. > :35:53.fitness and conditioning coach. Came back for a second spell last season.
:35:54. > :35:56.Wasn't supposed to be a permanent fixture, but due to their bad
:35:57. > :36:00.defensive record earlier in the season, he was called into action
:36:01. > :36:02.and he's played their last eight games. Some story. Fitness coach and
:36:03. > :36:18.player. McLeod penalised. Probably lent on him a little bit
:36:19. > :36:20.too much. He's a big lad, Izale McLeod, and he will be tough to
:36:21. > :36:43.handle today. Too strong force dead. There was a
:36:44. > :36:49.deflection along the way and it will be a Notts County corner. The three
:36:50. > :36:53.owners who are able to attend watching on anxiously. Gary Neville,
:36:54. > :36:59.just as he did against Southport, has ordered the pitch to be narrowed
:37:00. > :37:04.tonight. You do what you can to gain the advantage. As long as it's well
:37:05. > :37:14.within the rules, which it is, you can't blame them for that. Notts
:37:15. > :37:18.County corner, flicked on by Stead. Salford were mightily relieved that
:37:19. > :37:22.that effort from Edwards went wide of the target. Even for a
:37:23. > :37:27.centre-half, that was a very decent effort. He had no right to swivel on
:37:28. > :37:32.this and got the contacting got. It was bouncing around. That was close.
:37:33. > :37:38.Thankfully for Salford it just went wide of the post. He has got three
:37:39. > :37:44.goals from defence since coming into the team, Mike Edwards. The keeper
:37:45. > :37:54.has got no chance if that's on target. That was a good effort!
:37:55. > :38:01.Jordan Hulme. Just drifting wide. The 24-year-old.
:38:02. > :38:09.That's a bullet effort, you know. Because he took its super early, it
:38:10. > :38:14.caught Carroll off-guard. Probably expecting him to take a touch, but
:38:15. > :38:17.because he took it so early, he was struggling to get across. The
:38:18. > :38:31.technique to hit that first time was very good.
:38:32. > :38:52.Not renowned for sitting down, the Salford managerial duo. Fair to say
:38:53. > :38:59.Anthony Johnson is the more vocal of the duo. From what I've seen he is!
:39:00. > :39:03.No huge secret. Wears his heart on his sleeve, but that passion and
:39:04. > :39:10.enthusiasm was what attracted the owners to appoint them last January.
:39:11. > :39:20.Danny Webber had gone all the way back.
:39:21. > :39:27.Back to the management, it can come across like a aggressive and loud
:39:28. > :39:31.and screaming and shouting, but the one thing I picked up from the
:39:32. > :39:35.documentary was they were very constructive in everything they
:39:36. > :39:40.said. You can tell why they've had a huge improvement at Salford. They've
:39:41. > :39:44.done their homework for this game in a very professional manner. They've
:39:45. > :39:50.watched DVDs from Notts County outline. Not sure where they got
:39:51. > :39:56.those from! There's a lot of preparation in a professional manner
:39:57. > :40:03.from Salford City. They do fancy that they can hurt Notts County. I
:40:04. > :40:09.chance for Jordan Hulme. Round the goalkeeper... He can't take it.
:40:10. > :40:14.Jordan Hulme. He does everything right. You're saying, shoot, shoot!
:40:15. > :40:19.He takes his time, he's composed, but at the final hurdle he loses
:40:20. > :40:25.control. I think in his mind he wanted to go around the goalkeeper.
:40:26. > :40:29.The ball is bouncing around. This bit is brilliant. Composure. He
:40:30. > :40:34.wanted to take it around Carroll. His touch got away from him. So
:40:35. > :40:38.unlucky. Brilliant chance. I would say they need to be sticking those
:40:39. > :40:43.chances away usually, but they've started so well that I feel like
:40:44. > :40:51.they will get more. Jordan Hulme has six goals already this season. He
:40:52. > :40:58.was the first player ever that Salford City paid money for, from
:40:59. > :41:06.Ramsbottom. From the managerial duo, their former club. The Class of '92
:41:07. > :41:11.to paid ?2500 for his services and because they won the title, they had
:41:12. > :41:16.to buy another ?2500 so he is their record by. They will have to get
:41:17. > :41:32.used that, putting their hands in their pocket that not! -- that lot.
:41:33. > :41:39.17 years of old -- years of age, Hardcastle. On loan from Blackburn.
:41:40. > :41:43.It was only supposed to be for a month, but he and Salford were
:41:44. > :41:48.desperate for it to be extended and here he is in the FA Cup first round
:41:49. > :41:52.at 17. He could have gone to Blackburn, where it's nice and
:41:53. > :41:57.comfortable, all your home comforts, but he didn't. He said he wanted to
:41:58. > :42:01.better himself and keep playing for Salford, playing league football.
:42:02. > :42:04.Thankfully for Salford he stayed because he's obviously been an
:42:05. > :42:10.integral part of what they are doing this season.
:42:11. > :42:18.Poole trying to create space. There are a few nerves back there for
:42:19. > :42:24.Notts County. Rightly so. Every time Salford City go forward, they have
:42:25. > :42:28.for five players to deal with. They are struggling with it. Salford, a
:42:29. > :42:37.little bit of composure and somebody will get in. Could it be now? The
:42:38. > :42:45.17-year-old Hardcastle. Just couldn't generate the power. The
:42:46. > :42:49.player we were just talking about. Good technical ability from
:42:50. > :42:53.Hardcastle. Drags it onto his left foot. Just couldn't get the purchase
:42:54. > :42:58.he needed. Needed to put his foot through it a bit more. Composure, it
:42:59. > :43:05.showing he can go buy players, but just unlucky with the strike in the
:43:06. > :43:10.end. First quarter of an hour and Salford will be very satisfied
:43:11. > :43:14.indeed. They will be satisfied. Notts County have changed their
:43:15. > :43:21.formation to a 4-4-2. If I was the manager I would be considering that.
:43:22. > :43:28.Only one thing in Webber's mind. Notts County got bodies in the way.
:43:29. > :43:40.Elliott Hewitt, the Welshman. McLeod to chase. Howson has been penalised.
:43:41. > :43:44.That's not a free kick, for me. The number of times this happens in a
:43:45. > :43:49.game. The centre forward shoulder to shoulder with the centre-half. Goes
:43:50. > :43:55.over a bit easily. You could say Howson went in too strong, but harsh
:43:56. > :43:59.for me. When Salford City trained for the last time this week, they
:44:00. > :44:04.only train twice a week, on Wednesday they spent an awful lot of
:44:05. > :44:07.time on defending set ablaze. They are aware of the danger that Notts
:44:08. > :44:12.County have in this kind of situation. The last thing you want
:44:13. > :44:17.to do is be playing so well and concede a goal from the set piece.
:44:18. > :44:19.That's why they've worked so hard this week. Every player back to
:44:20. > :44:53.defend this. Salford can try and build again. The
:44:54. > :45:08.ball was aimed towards Poole. De Silva put under pressure.
:45:09. > :45:19.Bora played in the Champions League at the age of 17, for Ajax. --
:45:20. > :45:21.Stanley Aborah. One of those 21 new players introduced in the summer for
:45:22. > :45:38.Notts County. Too long for Jon Stead. That's all
:45:39. > :45:44.because Salford are so organised. They are given Notts County no
:45:45. > :45:51.Watsons. Danny Webber dropped into a 5 in the midfield along with Poole
:45:52. > :45:54.and left one up top. They left Notts County no options. Gary Neville
:45:55. > :45:59.mention their fitness at the start. If they can maintain this, this is
:46:00. > :46:03.going to be a tougher game than may be Notts County thought. They are
:46:04. > :46:06.working so hard to close down the spaces that every time Notts County
:46:07. > :46:17.get the ball, they can't find anybody. Good pressure from Edwards.
:46:18. > :46:21.This all adds up. The pressure builds. Notts County keep chipping
:46:22. > :46:26.the ball out of play and Salford's confidence will grow and the chances
:46:27. > :46:33.will keep coming. Bernard Morley, the other half of the partnership. A
:46:34. > :46:34.plasterer by day and joint Salford City manager by night. Angry
:46:35. > :46:58.partnership! Chris Lynch, the captain. Salford
:46:59. > :47:01.born and bred. It would mean more to him than anybody else if he could
:47:02. > :47:31.steer his team into the headlines this evening.
:47:32. > :47:49.Once again, everybody from Salford City drops back to defend this.
:47:50. > :47:52.Notts County, incidentally, have an won away from home in their last
:47:53. > :48:20.nine games. -- haven't. Notts County have two big lads up
:48:21. > :48:24.front in McLeod and Stead and Salford aware of the second ball
:48:25. > :48:26.sometimes. The midfielders will have to help out and try to read those
:48:27. > :49:07.balls. -- those second balls. Odle is away from Lynch. McLeod and
:49:08. > :49:14.Stead were waiting. Fantastic recovery. Absolutely brilliant from
:49:15. > :49:19.Howson. I think Jon Stead is thinking this is a tap in. Jordan
:49:20. > :49:27.Hulme at the other end against Edwards. Fairly routine in the end
:49:28. > :49:32.for Roy Carroll. It was. One end to the other. The defender, who was it?
:49:33. > :49:37.I think it was Howson at the back. That is to. Absolutely brilliant
:49:38. > :49:43.clearance. If you has a bit more composure and belief, his touch
:49:44. > :49:46.wasn't great, but if he had shifted it to his right he might have been
:49:47. > :49:51.able to get a better strike on the ball.
:49:52. > :50:15.Action at both ends here. As this ball comes in, I think it is oh
:50:16. > :50:21.Halloran. What a clearance. -- Halloran. You can feel he lost
:50:22. > :50:22.belief in himself. He needed to shift it onto his left hand side,
:50:23. > :50:46.maybe. Danny Webber is 34 next month. When
:50:47. > :50:49.you play the 4-3-3, the full-backs for Notts County are very dangerous.
:50:50. > :50:53.It's difficult for your midfield to get all the way across. We've seen
:50:54. > :51:00.that in the early stages. First with Hewitt and then or Dell got down
:51:01. > :51:03.this site and put in a great ball. -- Audel. It is something Salford
:51:04. > :51:12.will have to be aware of in this game.
:51:13. > :51:16.Thierry Audel, who reached the fourth round of this competition as
:51:17. > :51:20.a non-league player with Macclesfield a couple of seasons
:51:21. > :51:22.ago. He scampered down the left-hand side to good effect for Notts
:51:23. > :51:37.County. Good work from Poole. Still going,
:51:38. > :51:44.James Poole. The hero of the last round. No free kick. That was a
:51:45. > :51:56.committed challenge from Steve Howson! Cleared by Lynch. Picked up
:51:57. > :52:10.by Alan Smith. Good work from Burton. Lovely skill from Webber.
:52:11. > :52:15.Two tackles and then one from Jordan Hulme. Neither of which the referee
:52:16. > :52:21.had any problem with. I'm glad he didn't. Brilliant tackles, both of
:52:22. > :52:26.them. That's a fair tackle, for me. He's won the ball. There was one at
:52:27. > :52:30.the start as well, I think it was Dawson flying in. This is what the
:52:31. > :52:34.FA Cup is about. Tackles like that. No wonder these people are coming
:52:35. > :52:39.down to Salford to watch non-league football. It's brilliant. Stead is
:52:40. > :52:57.offside. 32 now, Jon Stead. You played
:52:58. > :53:02.against him in your career. Not happy memories, actually! We were on
:53:03. > :53:08.for a draw at a wood bar on his debut. He had just come out of the
:53:09. > :53:13.lower leagues and he came on and got the winner in the 93rd minute.
:53:14. > :53:19.Apologies for reminding you. Thanks for bringing that up! McLeod the
:53:20. > :53:31.offender again. The cafe has been doing extra
:53:32. > :53:37.business tonight. In fact, they've had to at least treble is a normal
:53:38. > :53:41.catering orders. I put my order in for a pie at half-time. I know you
:53:42. > :53:51.have, you're an athlete, you're allowed to.
:53:52. > :53:59.Hardcastle's free kick. Howson couldn't get any connection on it.
:54:00. > :54:21.Cleared by Odle. Stopforth was at Blackburn's Academy
:54:22. > :54:28.until the age of 18. The managers and subsequently players recommended
:54:29. > :54:36.by the chairperson, Karen Baird, who does a Sterling job with Salford
:54:37. > :54:42.City. A recommendation for Johnson and Morley to be appointed. Not
:54:43. > :54:48.looking bad recommendation either. A fantastic recommendation. They've
:54:49. > :54:52.had to make some difficult decisions as we've seen in the documentary,
:54:53. > :54:57.the Class of '92 too. That's what they will come up against. Brilliant
:54:58. > :55:03.to bring them in at the time they did. We've talked about Salford's
:55:04. > :55:05.potential in discipline. The first man in the book is a Notts County
:55:06. > :55:21.player, Izale McLeod. Chris Lynch, the Salford skipper,
:55:22. > :55:29.with the free kick. Won in the air by Alan Smith.
:55:30. > :55:45.Another thing I've liked about Salford is sometimes when you watch
:55:46. > :55:49.these ties, almost David and Goliath where you expect all kinds of things
:55:50. > :55:53.to happen, it doesn't usually happen until the last ten minutes. You
:55:54. > :55:57.think, why didn't you play like that earlier in the game? They've done it
:55:58. > :56:00.from the start. Any opportunity they've had to put the ball in the
:56:01. > :56:07.box and put Notts County under pressure, they've done it. They just
:56:08. > :56:10.need to get rewarded for it now. McLeod's yellow card was for
:56:11. > :56:16.persistent fouling. That might worry some of the Salford players
:56:17. > :56:18.throughout the evening! Here come the team from the Northern Premier
:56:19. > :56:31.League Premier division again. Webber is onside.
:56:32. > :56:40.Salford have their corner. Danny Webber has been a thorn in Notts
:56:41. > :56:44.County's side. He's made all kinds of runs, tracking back, running into
:56:45. > :56:49.the channels. That was a fantastic run he made there. He wanted to cut
:56:50. > :56:55.inside onto his right foot. Those constant runs he's making Notts
:56:56. > :57:01.County just can't deal with. Webber himself will deliver Salford's first
:57:02. > :57:07.corner of the cup tie. Can it be a productive one? Right on top of Roy
:57:08. > :57:25.Carroll. No problems for the Northern Ireland international.
:57:26. > :57:47.Alan Smith had a smile on his face when he went in for that! 35 last
:57:48. > :57:48.month. Back in the Notts County team in September and he's been there
:57:49. > :58:01.ever since. A decent amount of possession,
:58:02. > :58:05.Salford City. If I had to guess, I wouldn't have guessed Notts County
:58:06. > :58:08.have had more possession. They've definitely not had the better
:58:09. > :58:12.possession. They might have passed it around the back more, but Salford
:58:13. > :58:19.have definitely looked more dangerous. The first long throw of
:58:20. > :58:20.the evening from Hewitt. There might be a Salford opportunity to break
:58:21. > :58:36.now. Roy Carroll read that situation. I
:58:37. > :58:41.thought he threw his arm, Roy Carroll. Wasn't happy with the
:58:42. > :58:48.challenge. Didn't like the challenge from Jordan Hulme. Some smoke in the
:58:49. > :58:55.corner on the far side. I thought that was my half Thai -- half-time
:58:56. > :58:56.bygone! Not with the new kitchen Gary Neville paid for! Certainly
:58:57. > :59:15.not. Stephen O'Halloran, who began his
:59:16. > :59:20.career at Aston Villa. Won two Republic of Ireland caps at left
:59:21. > :59:25.back. His manager told me it was strange sometimes when he shouts
:59:26. > :59:28.instructions onto the pitch and he thinks, hang on, he's played
:59:29. > :59:34.international football and I'm telling him what to do. You can get
:59:35. > :59:40.caught out as a manager screaming and shouting, but he knows what he's
:59:41. > :59:45.doing. Recently played in the Championship for Coventry. Still
:59:46. > :59:51.only 27. Now a qualified physio in Manchester hospitals. You can
:59:52. > :59:55.imagine the build-up all week for the Salford City lads. Going into
:59:56. > :59:59.work, thinking about the big FA Cup game being televised on Friday
:00:00. > :00:01.night. You know your mates will be watching. That's why I've been so
:00:02. > :00:18.impressed with them. Scott Burton was dreaming of the
:00:19. > :00:22.fairy tale moment. He was. Salford have managed to calm their
:00:23. > :00:25.expectations and play a really professional way. You can tell
:00:26. > :00:30.they've been well drilled and they aren't over award by the occasion.
:00:31. > :00:37.Remember, it's a huge FA Cup weekend across the BBC... Football Focus
:00:38. > :00:42.comes from Willesden tomorrow. You can keep up-to-date with all the
:00:43. > :00:57.schools on the red button throughout the afternoon as well. -- scores.
:00:58. > :01:04.Burton and Howson got in each other's way. No problems for Jay
:01:05. > :01:10.Lynch. He has played in the Football League with Accrington. I'm sure he
:01:11. > :01:17.harbours ambitions of playing there again. It was a simple pass, that.
:01:18. > :01:24.If he takes more care with it, Izale McLeod was in one-on-one with the
:01:25. > :01:31.keeper. Despite the appeals, that is Notts County plus throw. They arrive
:01:32. > :01:46.here unbeaten in four league games, their best run since Ricardo took
:01:47. > :01:58.charge. In his own words, he does love a tackle, Scott Burton.
:01:59. > :02:07.Poole. Salford throw. I have to say, we have seen some unbelievable
:02:08. > :02:11.tackles in today's game. It is an art that has gone out of the game.
:02:12. > :02:18.Thankfully we have got a referee who has seen that they are not dangerous
:02:19. > :02:28.and fully committed and he has allowed play to go on. Hulme kept it
:02:29. > :02:31.in. Stopforth, a player with great energy, looking for a free kick but
:02:32. > :02:36.there was none forthcoming. I think he has been watching the Premier
:02:37. > :02:42.League too much! De Silva improvised quickly.
:02:43. > :02:54.When you look cannot discount the here, they've got nothing in the
:02:55. > :03:00.middle to build it up, so their only option is to do that, to go along.
:03:01. > :03:03.He white players go right up against the centre forwards, and the
:03:04. > :03:08.midfielders go there. If they're going to get back in this game, they
:03:09. > :03:11.need to find a way of developing some more passes in that midfield
:03:12. > :03:17.area and bringing more players into Blake. A touch of class, quick
:03:18. > :03:23.thinking. He has sent in Hardcastle. He went for goal himself! The
:03:24. > :03:27.teenager. He ignored the claims of Hulme and Poole. He was unlucky.
:03:28. > :03:33.Great bit of play from Danny Webber, I have to say. You can't fault him
:03:34. > :03:38.for having a go at goal. I didn't see any real leer options for him to
:03:39. > :03:42.square it across the box. The only thing you would say is shoot that
:03:43. > :03:46.across the goal, the keeper parried it out and you have options. But
:03:47. > :03:50.good Blake from Salford. -- good play.
:03:51. > :03:58.The 17-year-old again, Poole, looking for Webber. Tremendous
:03:59. > :04:08.header from Chris Lynch. Stopforth. Salford Central in that
:04:09. > :04:13.this is a good spell. Can they make it count?
:04:14. > :04:36.Stead was held back, there. Oh Halloran knows what's coming. He
:04:37. > :04:41.does. Normally you would say that was not such a bad foul. But he was
:04:42. > :04:48.getting himself into a dangerous position and it has allowed Salford
:04:49. > :04:58.to get back into their shape. The first Salford name in the book is
:04:59. > :05:03.that of the Irishman. Aimed to Stead. The challenge of Chris
:05:04. > :05:27.Lynch. He just had to keep his eye on that.
:05:28. > :05:31.At one point he thought that might be sneaking in, but he had it
:05:32. > :05:35.covered, he knew where it was going. As we can see, the floodlights
:05:36. > :05:36.obviously right in his eyes as well, but he does really well, no problem
:05:37. > :05:59.here whatsoever. Lynch again with the powerful
:06:00. > :06:04.header. The silver has stayed down after the challenge. To say he is an
:06:05. > :06:10.uncompromising defender, Chris Lynch, is perhaps something of an
:06:11. > :06:13.understatement. -- de Silva. He has fully committed, Chris Lynch, and
:06:14. > :06:22.the referee has allowed it to go on. McLeod is using his strength,
:06:23. > :06:26.this time fairly. Stead waiting in the penalty area but he couldn't get
:06:27. > :06:32.any contact. There wasn't much Jon Stead could do with that, to be
:06:33. > :06:38.honest. He cuts into his left hand side, he does well to win it. As he
:06:39. > :06:42.comes inside, you think, just try and find your partner, don't just
:06:43. > :06:44.lash it across the box. I don't know what he expects Jon Stead to do with
:06:45. > :07:07.that. It is a Salford throw. Ricardo Muniz
:07:08. > :07:12.looking a bit anxious. Someone you know well from your time at
:07:13. > :07:15.Tottenham with Martin Jol. I do. Martin Jol brought him in as a
:07:16. > :07:22.skills coach actually, which was a bit of a -- and ordered job title at
:07:23. > :07:29.the time. Webber, Lynch with the chance to cross. But he used to do a
:07:30. > :07:33.lot of work with Edgar davits and some of the other midfielders. It
:07:34. > :07:39.was fun, you knew he had a lot of interest in the game and he would go
:07:40. > :07:44.on to management as well. -- Edgar Davids.
:07:45. > :07:55.Patient from Salford City. In two Webber. He was looking for Hulme but
:07:56. > :08:01.it didn't quite come off for Danny Webber. Back in again by O'Halloran.
:08:02. > :08:02.Lynch attacking it. Another crunching challenge from the Salford
:08:03. > :08:17.skipper. This is aimed towards Lynch again
:08:18. > :08:21.and let me tell you, Chris Lynch, Salford born and bred, he is a gas
:08:22. > :08:25.engineer who works permanent nights. The managers were telling me
:08:26. > :08:30.sometimes it is a midweek game and he doesn't even have time for a
:08:31. > :08:36.shower, he bashes straight to work. On a Saturday game if it is an away
:08:37. > :08:44.game, he's only had -- a couple of hours sleep, and yet the coaches
:08:45. > :08:49.said he is always the best player, he is the current layer of the
:08:50. > :08:52.year. That is just brilliant. You hear top players talking about
:08:53. > :08:57.tiredness. Back to Chris Lynch, I mean, the level of commitment...
:08:58. > :09:02.These managers and the lads are asking for that and that is exactly
:09:03. > :09:11.why he is the captain, he is the example for all his players to live
:09:12. > :09:16.up to. I trust he has booked tonight off! Surely his boss has allowed him
:09:17. > :09:29.that. The way he is playing he might get a pay rise as well! Jordan Hulme
:09:30. > :09:37.was trying to stay onside. Smith did not get there. Salford continued to
:09:38. > :09:45.press here. O'Halloran's cross. Away by Audel. Lynch thought about the
:09:46. > :09:51.challenge. It has broken to Hardcastle. Poole. Good try. Great
:09:52. > :09:54.play, that, from Poole. Such awareness around him of what is
:09:55. > :09:59.going on when the ball comes into him. He knows already he has got the
:10:00. > :10:04.space to turn and get it on to his favoured left foot. We see as the
:10:05. > :10:12.ball comes in. Turn. So unlucky. So unlucky. A good bit of play. He has
:10:13. > :10:18.shown today in this first half, Poole, he has got real quality. They
:10:19. > :10:24.thought it was in! Your former England team-mates. They were
:10:25. > :10:36.willing that ball into the back of the net. Poole, foul. Wanted to take
:10:37. > :10:42.the free kick quickly. Notts County might be happy for half-time!
:10:43. > :10:45.Exactly, you mentioned earlier about the pressure building and Salford
:10:46. > :10:48.Central blood, they may be disappointed that they have played
:10:49. > :10:52.so well but they are going in at half-time and not one up. They have
:10:53. > :11:00.been absolutely brilliant for this first 42 minutes. Lynch with the
:11:01. > :11:05.free kick, too strong for Houston. -- Howson. It's not just endeavour
:11:06. > :11:10.and workrate and commitment, there are levels of quality in there as
:11:11. > :11:14.well. They have popped it around. They try and work it around the box
:11:15. > :11:22.as well. They need to get that level of finishing up a bit, that level of
:11:23. > :11:23.quality, and they will get the goal. The Notts County manager looking at
:11:24. > :11:41.his watch. Here is Webber. Lynch, so desperate to get the
:11:42. > :11:46.challenge in again. It's a free kick to Notts County. This is a very
:11:47. > :11:51.important part of the game. Salford need to switch on here and get tuned
:11:52. > :11:55.in. Get back into your shape and make sure you don't concede at this
:11:56. > :12:01.point in the game. It's not a foul either. It's not a foul, it's a
:12:02. > :12:07.brilliant challenge. He has come on the right side of him and won the
:12:08. > :12:10.ball cleanly. You don't need to be giving that as a yellow card. That
:12:11. > :12:16.is a poor decision. The referee has had a good game so far but if he
:12:17. > :12:22.sees that one again he will be disappointed. Jay Lynch organising
:12:23. > :12:26.his wall in the Salford City goal. The final minute of normal time at
:12:27. > :12:28.the end of the first half. Liam Noble, the joint top scorer with it.
:12:29. > :12:52.Straight against the wall. Pace saw one for the Salford player.
:12:53. > :13:03.Meanwhile this is James Poole. Switching play to O'Halloran.
:13:04. > :13:11.Flicked in by O'Halloran. Just the 1 minute of time to add on at the end
:13:12. > :13:21.of the first game of the first round proper of this season's FA Cup.
:13:22. > :13:31.Terrific defending from Houston. He completely nullified him and stayed
:13:32. > :13:47.on his feet and watch the ball and won it at the perfect time.
:13:48. > :13:56.Quietly confident that they could ask Notts County some questions.
:13:57. > :14:00.Rightly so. Rightly so, they will be delighted with the 45 minutes that
:14:01. > :14:04.these lads have put in. They have worked hard and shown quality. They
:14:05. > :14:08.missed a great chance early doors. They should be one up, they should
:14:09. > :14:12.be at least one up. So many positives to take into the second
:14:13. > :14:16.half. Notts County second-best at the minute. He will be absolutely
:14:17. > :14:22.delighted with what he has seen. Jordan Hulme with probably the best
:14:23. > :14:27.opportunity. Salford have risen to the occasion, they just haven't got
:14:28. > :14:31.the gold to show for it. At the break, it is Salford 0-0 Notts
:14:32. > :14:38.County. There you go, a big Friday night in
:14:39. > :14:45.the FA Cup. We will be with you for the second half shortly. Not much
:14:46. > :14:49.difference between the sides so far in that first half. It has been tied
:14:50. > :14:53.with chances at both ends and I think the Class of 92 will be pretty
:14:54. > :14:59.happy with 0-0 at the break. It has been physical as well, three yellow
:15:00. > :15:03.cards so far. Everything to play for. Smiles from Gary Neville and
:15:04. > :15:07.Nicky Butt as well. Let's bring in Ian Wright and Trevor Sinclair who
:15:08. > :15:12.have been watching that, pitch side. Ian Wright, that was a fascinating
:15:13. > :15:16.first half. No goals but Salford City well in this game. Absolutely,
:15:17. > :15:19.I think they've been better in every department really. One disappointing
:15:20. > :15:24.thing is that I don't think that crowd realise how much their team is
:15:25. > :15:29.on top in this game, they just need a bit more from them. Java, I don't
:15:30. > :15:34.think Notts County are up for it at all. I think this is a massive
:15:35. > :15:40.opportunity for Salford. Salford have won the 50-50 balls all over
:15:41. > :15:43.the park. I think they have been the better side. Notts County are going
:15:44. > :15:47.to go in there and I think they will get a dressing down from the
:15:48. > :15:50.manager. It's impressive they have looked so comfortable on this
:15:51. > :15:56.occasion. We said we may expect them to be overawed but there has been
:15:57. > :16:00.none of that. Absolutely not. They have had seven or eight chances to
:16:01. > :16:03.Notts County plus one. They have not finished their chances and they
:16:04. > :16:08.might regret that in the second half. Let's talk through some of
:16:09. > :16:14.those chances. Jordan Hulme, the first player they paid money for,
:16:15. > :16:20.?3500. He had a couple of good chances. The first one, you can see
:16:21. > :16:27.the bodies, they are getting bodies round the ball and this, if you are
:16:28. > :16:33.being overcritical you could say try and lift it to get it to dip over
:16:34. > :16:36.the keeper. But I think he has done everything right there. This one he
:16:37. > :16:40.should have taken his opportunity to shoot a lot earlier than he did.
:16:41. > :16:43.Sometimes in a game like this you are just thinking I want to get it
:16:44. > :16:49.done. There he has had the opportunity to shoot. And one more,
:16:50. > :16:53.you will see this one as well, Trevor. He never quite gets the
:16:54. > :16:58.wrong side of the defender. He hit the target but it is not a hour full
:16:59. > :17:03.enough shot. The previous one, the toe poke was on. He was nice and
:17:04. > :17:08.composed in the box. Watching with these do, they both said toe poke
:17:09. > :17:11.quite loudly! Lewis Hardcastle had chances in the game as well. Really,
:17:12. > :17:16.they should be ahead, shouldn't they? They should be, and that is
:17:17. > :17:23.the problem. They are going direct and getting bodies around it. For me
:17:24. > :17:30.they are hungry there. They are getting on the ball first. It opens,
:17:31. > :17:34.really good feed. Great feet, there. He is just trying to reach it and he
:17:35. > :17:37.hasn't quite got it. They have hit the target with them but I like
:17:38. > :17:42.that, Danny Webber holds it up really well but he is so alive to
:17:43. > :17:48.take the free kick early. Notts County in big trouble straightaway.
:17:49. > :17:52.Anything across the keeper, there. Especially through his legs. The
:17:53. > :17:57.goalkeeper could be massively in trouble. For me just aim for the big
:17:58. > :18:02.side of the goal there, Dan. The Salford dressing room, do you think
:18:03. > :18:11.they will be happy there? The two guys managing. They might be, there
:18:12. > :18:16.will not be any ranting and raving. It is reverse psychology, you either
:18:17. > :18:20.go in and say they are there for the taking, or you say well done, but I
:18:21. > :18:27.think they will go for the former. Notts County were not keen on having
:18:28. > :18:29.a camera in the dressing room and I think it's the right decision
:18:30. > :18:36.because they will be getting a dressing down. One occasion in the
:18:37. > :18:42.45 when they gave County players a bit too much space in the box. It
:18:43. > :18:48.bounces kindly for him. The keeper gets nowhere near it. I think they
:18:49. > :18:52.deserved that, to be fair. They have been the better team and competed
:18:53. > :18:57.all over the field. If you asked the manager, he would just be happy they
:18:58. > :19:02.are in it. I think it's going to be an interesting second half. Great
:19:03. > :19:08.play from the left-back. Great spin on the player he had in front of
:19:09. > :19:12.him. Fantastic defending. Super ball. So, they are playing well. We
:19:13. > :19:15.spoke to Gary Neville before the game and he said he was a bit
:19:16. > :19:21.worried about the physicality, but the referee has actually let quite a
:19:22. > :19:29.lot go, Andrew Madley. It has been fruity on both sides! I liked it.
:19:30. > :19:35.This is lower league football. They are right to do that as well,
:19:36. > :19:38.Salford. Notts County don't look up for it. Salford City three all of
:19:39. > :19:44.those and I think the referee has done well to let some of them go. I
:19:45. > :19:47.think John will be very happy with the commitment of some of the
:19:48. > :19:51.players going into these challenges. The Salford player definitely wanted
:19:52. > :19:55.more than Notts County. I hope they can make a goal, get the crowd going
:19:56. > :20:00.for a start, because I think they deserve it. You feel like Notts
:20:01. > :20:05.County, they need to get that goal sooner rather than later. My fear in
:20:06. > :20:09.the second half, some of those lads at Salford have been to work today
:20:10. > :20:15.and they are going to start to start a tyre. It will be interesting to
:20:16. > :20:20.look at. We were hoping for some magic and there was some at the
:20:21. > :20:25.training ground. We sent along Britain's Got Talent finalist Jamie
:20:26. > :20:34.Raven. How do you pull off an FA Cup
:20:35. > :20:38.giant-killing? Like an illusion, it takes a lot of talent, a lot of
:20:39. > :20:46.practice and the odd trick. And suddenly it can become reality. Let
:20:47. > :20:50.me show you a very simple game. Do me a favour, just look through these
:20:51. > :20:54.and make sure you are happy they are all different. Would that be OK? If
:20:55. > :21:01.you're happy, I'm happy. I just need you to say stop, just say stop for
:21:02. > :21:09.me. Stop. Brilliant, just have a look at that. Someone in the middle,
:21:10. > :21:13.just say stop. Just check two things for me, I haven't moved anything
:21:14. > :21:18.else, and that is the same one. I'm not going to lie to you, I can find
:21:19. > :21:24.this with my eyes shut. How good is your magic these days? Terrible. .
:21:25. > :21:33.Give me a number bigger than 12, smaller than 45. 22. Do you want to
:21:34. > :21:36.stick with 22? It's your choice. What was your card? The sex of
:21:37. > :21:54.hearts. -- the six of hearts. Perfect. Are
:21:55. > :22:02.you right footed? Could you take off your right boot?
:22:03. > :22:04.LAUGHTER Guys, many, many, many
:22:05. > :22:13.congratulations. How did he get that in the boot?
:22:14. > :22:18.More from Jamie in the coming rounds and plenty more for Final Score to
:22:19. > :22:25.pull out of the hat as well. This is how you can watch the FA Cup over
:22:26. > :22:29.the weekend. Welcome to a brand-new Final Score for the FA Cup. We will
:22:30. > :22:33.be able to show you the goals and incidents as they happen. It's an
:22:34. > :22:44.equaliser for Portsmouth, 2-2! The team from the Conference North
:22:45. > :22:50.have beaten League 1 Coventry City! Is absolutely brilliant, what you
:22:51. > :22:51.want to see. I got a bit overexcited there, must have been the card in
:22:52. > :23:08.the shoe! You can see these goals tomorrow.
:23:09. > :23:12.Seven Premier League games for Match of the Day, a bit later tomorrow
:23:13. > :23:17.because of the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance. All of
:23:18. > :23:20.Saturday's FA Cup goals will be available on the BBC Sport website
:23:21. > :23:26.during the evening for you. On Sunday, another special Final Score
:23:27. > :23:33.featuring the goals as they happen. Highlights of every first round game
:23:34. > :23:35.on BBC Two from 6:30pm. You can keep in touch with every game on the
:23:36. > :23:45.website. Time to get some more views on this
:23:46. > :23:49.match. If you seen the documentary on the club, you will know that the
:23:50. > :23:55.Class of 92 watch the game from the far side of the ground over there.
:23:56. > :23:59.Super Trevor Sinclair is with a former England colleague. I don't
:24:00. > :24:06.need to introduce this young man, Nicky Butt. Great first half, you
:24:07. > :24:10.are in it. Yes, it was a good first half. The lads did well, I'm really
:24:11. > :24:15.happy with how they played. But you have to take your chances. Will
:24:16. > :24:17.fitness come into it? Some of the lads have been at work today,
:24:18. > :24:22.slightly different from the Notts County players. I hope adrenaline
:24:23. > :24:26.takes over and they keep going to the end. But it's about taking your
:24:27. > :24:30.chances when you get them will stop if we take them, we will be in a
:24:31. > :24:34.good position. I think we were the better team in the first half. Will
:24:35. > :24:40.they keep playing direct and missing the lines out? I hope so, I think it
:24:41. > :24:43.is quite a clever ploy from the coaching staff to say get in their
:24:44. > :24:50.heart and do well and try and score goals. The next chance we've got to
:24:51. > :24:54.take and that will define the game. Nice to hear the views of Nicky
:24:55. > :25:00.Butt. Gary Neville and Paul Scholes also hear the night. A man whose
:25:01. > :25:04.goals got Salford City promoted last season, people have seen you in the
:25:05. > :25:15.documentary but you are injured at the moment, your media ligament --
:25:16. > :25:23.your medial ligament. I think apart from the goal it was a really good,
:25:24. > :25:27.perfect first half. Pressing high up the page, the tempo has been really
:25:28. > :25:31.good. You could not tell which one was the higher team at the moment.
:25:32. > :25:35.After 15 or 20 minutes they consciously slowed the game down
:25:36. > :25:42.just to try to get a hold on it and try to get a view passes together.
:25:43. > :25:45.We've just been -- they have been overawed by us. Our tempo and speed
:25:46. > :25:50.and passion, I think they were shocked. You have worked on
:25:51. > :25:54.defending set pieces in training but Notts County have not had that many
:25:55. > :25:58.chances. People might be watching non-league football for the first
:25:59. > :26:01.time but you are a decent side. Yeah, we don't just a team out there
:26:02. > :26:07.and cross our fingers. The manager and the coaching staff have
:26:08. > :26:12.obviously been watching Notts County and you know, we have worked on our
:26:13. > :26:17.own set pieces as well. I'm just hoping that we can one of those
:26:18. > :26:22.chances really. A shot of the dressing room. Who are the talk in
:26:23. > :26:25.there? We have seen you in there having a view to many chats at
:26:26. > :26:30.half-time and full-time! Who will be saying the wise words in there? To
:26:31. > :26:39.be honest, it's difficult to get a word in with the managers. All the
:26:40. > :26:43.lads will be gene each other up. -- geeing each other up. I know it's a
:26:44. > :26:47.cliche but we have got 11 leaders in that dressing room and we will be
:26:48. > :26:51.trying to finish the job tonight. You feel the crowd can play a part
:26:52. > :26:58.in this second half. I was surprised with how quiet the crowd are. The
:26:59. > :27:04.guy behind me has been shouting expletives but apart from him... The
:27:05. > :27:08.crowd just need to get them going because I think that is all they
:27:09. > :27:11.need now. Gareth, one word, one answer, what do they need to do in
:27:12. > :27:16.the second half, simple as score a goal? I think so, I think one goal
:27:17. > :27:19.is going to win it. If we get another chance we've got to shoot
:27:20. > :27:24.early, not let the keeper take another stance, just catch him
:27:25. > :27:26.off-guard and I think we will win it 1-0. The teams are out, let's rejoin
:27:27. > :27:51.our commentary team. COMMENTATOR: Welcome back, thank you
:27:52. > :27:55.very much indeed. Salford have had their say and they are out first in
:27:56. > :28:00.the second half. What might have been there message in the sulphur
:28:01. > :28:06.dressing room at half-time? I think, more of the same. -- in the Salford
:28:07. > :28:10.dressing room. Just maybe a bit more quality in that final third in terms
:28:11. > :28:13.of striking the ball almost. They have got through but their strikes
:28:14. > :28:17.at goal have not really had the power you're going to need to get
:28:18. > :28:24.past Roy Carroll. More of the same, keep working hard and hopefully that
:28:25. > :28:28.goal will come. Let's hope so as far as they are concerned. Notts County
:28:29. > :28:32.hoping to avoid all those kind of headlines tonight. They have only
:28:33. > :28:41.won once in their last seven FA Cup games. Do you expect something of an
:28:42. > :28:44.improvement as far as the League 2 club are concerned? If the manager
:28:45. > :28:48.has not looked at that and thought we are definitely the lesser side in
:28:49. > :28:51.this game today and he would be kidding himself. A lot of that has
:28:52. > :28:57.come down to the fact that he may have gone with two upfront. It has
:28:58. > :29:02.been a tough day upfront for Alan Smith and noble. They have been
:29:03. > :29:07.missed out a lot of the time by the bag four. The three in midfield are
:29:08. > :29:10.working so hard for Salford, they are making it really hard for Notts
:29:11. > :29:13.County. Somewhere along the line Notts County are going to have to
:29:14. > :29:18.try to get these full-backs into the game because that is going to be the
:29:19. > :29:21.only way they can stretch this three-man midfield for Salford. That
:29:22. > :29:27.could be something the manager will have spoken about at half-time. It
:29:28. > :29:32.will be the visitors, 15th in League 2, in all blue, Notts County, to get
:29:33. > :29:37.us under way in the second half. No from either manager, incidentally,
:29:38. > :29:41.during the break. Will there be a change in the scoreline? Will there
:29:42. > :29:44.be another FA Cup story to be written?
:29:45. > :29:48.Here's straightaway James Poole curling it to the back post and
:29:49. > :29:57.whether! What a start for Salford City! Less
:29:58. > :30:04.than 20 seconds into the second half and Danny Webber, their top scorer,
:30:05. > :30:12.has his ninth of the season, and it could be a Golden Goal! We mentioned
:30:13. > :30:15.Poole in the first half and he was the 1 causing so many problems.
:30:16. > :30:21.Notts County switched off for the start of this half and when you work
:30:22. > :30:26.so hard for it you think get your head up and that is exacted what he
:30:27. > :30:30.does. He faces him one-on-one, goes by him, that is the quality we have
:30:31. > :30:34.been asking for, puts it in the right area, and Danny Webber has
:30:35. > :30:36.done that for years, does what he does best and puts it in the back of
:30:37. > :30:49.the net. Brilliant. Exactly 17 seconds into the second
:30:50. > :30:54.period. Danny Webber, who got both goals in the second qualifying round
:30:55. > :30:59.when Salford City were 1-0 down. Scores their first-ever goal in the
:31:00. > :31:03.first round proper. And what a start to the second half. We spoke about
:31:04. > :31:07.what would have been said at half-time, what he would have wanted
:31:08. > :31:12.from his players. He couldn't have asked for more than that. Exactly
:31:13. > :31:16.what he wanted. They deserved that for the first 45 minute display they
:31:17. > :31:33.put in. They've worked hard. I said they didn't deserve to go in at 0-0.
:31:34. > :31:36.Notts County need to wake up now. They are in a very, very tough FA
:31:37. > :31:39.Cup tie and they could go out. 19 goals last year as they climbed into
:31:40. > :31:41.the division above, step seven of English football. His ninth goal of
:31:42. > :31:46.this season. His most important goal in a Salford City shirt. A man who
:31:47. > :31:50.played over 20 -- 220 times in the top two divisions of English
:31:51. > :31:55.football for the likes of Portsmouth, Watford and Sheffield
:31:56. > :31:58.United. A month ahead of his 34th birthday. As the team from the
:31:59. > :32:04.Northern Premier League Premier Division in front.
:32:05. > :32:31.Poole's part in that goal cannot be underestimated. It can't. Work rate,
:32:32. > :32:35.endeavour, taking the chance, but also the quality we've asked for
:32:36. > :32:39.from them. A little bit more quality in the final third and he's put it
:32:40. > :32:44.on a plate for Danny Webber. He was never going to miss. It was because
:32:45. > :32:59.of the delivery. He's had a very good game, James Poole.
:33:00. > :33:04.Understandably, the Notts County players look a little
:33:05. > :33:09.shell-shocked. Right from the restart stop they are. They'll be
:33:10. > :33:14.wondering who will step up for them. The management will be looking
:33:15. > :33:18.at the bench and wondering what to do to change the situation. It's
:33:19. > :33:23.been coming, they've got themselves to blame. They need to step up to
:33:24. > :33:30.the plate. They've lost every challenge. Salford have won every
:33:31. > :33:38.second ball. Thoroughly deserved. The owners know there's an awful
:33:39. > :33:43.long way to yet. -- to go. Three of the part owners of the Class of '92
:33:44. > :33:49.two. 112 major honours between them. They'll tell you they get just as
:33:50. > :33:51.excited watching this time as -- this team as what -- as winning any
:33:52. > :34:24.of those medals. I've changed my pronunciation of
:34:25. > :34:31.Salford. It's my Nottingham thing. Apologies to Twitter followers and
:34:32. > :34:36.all that now all. It's that boy James Poole. Look at that delivery.
:34:37. > :34:39.They call that the corridor of uncertainty. Nobody knows what to
:34:40. > :34:43.do. The keeper doesn't know whether to come out, the defendant has an
:34:44. > :34:49.want to touch it. Danny Webber sticks it in the back of the net to
:34:50. > :34:54.put Salford 1-0 up. The most experienced player in their team.
:34:55. > :34:57.Never played in the Premier League for Manchester United. He played
:34:58. > :35:04.three times in their first team when the likes of Neville, Giggs, but an
:35:05. > :35:09.Scholes were there. I played against Danny Webber in the FA youth cup
:35:10. > :35:12.when he was at Manchester United and I was at Nottingham Forest. I was
:35:13. > :35:17.playing centre half and he did score, but we did win the game. He
:35:18. > :35:24.was a handful and he's making the same runs today he was making then.
:35:25. > :35:28.I spoke to him before the game. He says he's not getting tired. He
:35:29. > :35:34.looks to have just as much energy as he did then. The fairy tale not
:35:35. > :35:39.within touching distance yet, but all going according to plan for the
:35:40. > :35:43.managerial duo who got two promotions in three years at
:35:44. > :35:47.Ramsbottom and then got a call out of the blue from Gary Neville on
:35:48. > :35:52.their mobile phone to bring them here to Moor Lane. And to have their
:35:53. > :35:58.part in this latest chapter, which could get even better.
:35:59. > :36:06.You could see his intention on that occasion. He didn't have the
:36:07. > :36:10.execution. Again, time in the box, he's got composure. A lot of bodies
:36:11. > :36:15.in there. He wanted to pick someone out. You could see him thinking,
:36:16. > :36:20.shifting it. In the end, because it was getting so tight, he thought he
:36:21. > :36:27.would have a go. It's all positive from Salford at the minute. All
:36:28. > :36:32.positive. A crowd of 1400 in here tonight. When they began this FA Cup
:36:33. > :36:39.journey in the first qualifying round against Whitby town, there
:36:40. > :36:43.were 255. They were within half an hour of going out of the competition
:36:44. > :36:47.at the very first hurdle. Here are in their seventh match, they lead a
:36:48. > :36:49.team 59 places above them in their seventh match, they lead a team 59
:36:50. > :36:58.places above them is a footballing pyramid.
:36:59. > :37:03.That's the problem for Notts County. Right there. As the ball comes out,
:37:04. > :37:08.it's a tough one and you might say he can't bring it down, but even
:37:09. > :37:10.when he hooks it on, nobody is there for the second ball and floods of
:37:11. > :37:25.pressure keep coming now. Poole, an FA youth cup winner in his
:37:26. > :37:30.Manchester City days. Went down. Looked hopefully, shall we say, to
:37:31. > :37:43.the referee. It wasn't a free kick, wasn't a penalty. He's a handful,
:37:44. > :37:49.Jordan Hulme. A driver by day. He pins him. He pins him in the box.
:37:50. > :37:54.There's nothing in that whatsoever. Defender stays on his feet and he's
:37:55. > :37:56.stronger. To be fair to Hulme, he wasn't complaining, got back on his
:37:57. > :38:31.feet and carried on. De Silva has a problem for Notts
:38:32. > :38:35.County. A player released by Crystal Palace in the summer. He's had
:38:36. > :38:38.enough of those hard challenges from Lynch! He's had to take three of
:38:39. > :38:43.them. Very, very tough challenges and one of them must have hurt. We
:38:44. > :38:53.flinch that two of them from up here. -- we flinched at two of them.
:38:54. > :38:57.A throw to be taken by Stephen O'Halloran, who dropped down from
:38:58. > :39:02.Stockport in the summer when he got the call to go and have a talk about
:39:03. > :39:08.coming here. I understand he was met by Ryan Giggs, which blew him away.
:39:09. > :39:17.The next thing he was a Salford City player. The hosts have a corner. I
:39:18. > :39:26.think that will get the job done. Giggsy turning up and asking you to
:39:27. > :39:31.sign for them. Yeah! Salford corner goes short. In from the left foot of
:39:32. > :39:45.Poole. Away by Smith. Neatly done by Burton. Audel ahead
:39:46. > :39:51.of Chris Lynch. That time he didn't quite time the challenge, the
:39:52. > :39:55.Salford skipper. But look at the numbers getting back into the right
:39:56. > :40:01.positions. Well drilled, looking strong, looking fit. It is a foul.
:40:02. > :40:04.The ball was given away in a difficult area where Notts County
:40:05. > :40:07.could have broken. But they nullified it and they are back in
:40:08. > :40:13.shape and the problem is sorted. I have to mention the three
:40:14. > :40:19.midfielders. That. I've not seen many players run as hard as they are
:40:20. > :40:24.at the moment. The Notts County change. Kyle De Silva off and Adam
:40:25. > :40:29.Campbell, who left Newcastle in the summer. He started the first 14
:40:30. > :40:34.games for Notts County. He's on in his place. Played five times for
:40:35. > :40:40.Newcastle's first team having made his debut at 17. Still only 20. He
:40:41. > :40:50.will be on the left-hand side for Notts County. In each of the last
:40:51. > :40:54.three seasons, Notts County have gone out of the FA Cup to teams
:40:55. > :40:56.below them in the footballing pyramid. None as low as Salford
:40:57. > :41:21.City, though. Step seven. Neatly done by Hulme. He has a clear
:41:22. > :41:25.sight of goal. Jordan Hulme! Mightily close to a second. Still
:41:26. > :41:31.alive with Webber. And then cleared by Audel. That was absolutely
:41:32. > :41:36.brilliant play from Jordan Hulme. The quality he's shown there. A
:41:37. > :41:40.little flick to get himself into that position. Composure to cut
:41:41. > :41:46.inside. So one lucky not to find the top corner. -- so unlucky. The front
:41:47. > :41:51.three have been brilliant throughout the whole game. Look at this. Cuts
:41:52. > :42:00.inside like he's not even there. This is a better angle. Look how
:42:01. > :42:06.close this is. Agonising. He fully deserves a goal as well. Fantastic
:42:07. > :42:14.play. They thought they had doubled their advantage. Well on top here,
:42:15. > :42:19.Salford City. They are, but the managers will be aware Notts County
:42:20. > :42:23.have two strikers that have scored goals in the Football League, a lot
:42:24. > :42:27.of goals between them. They'll be worrying that if they get one,
:42:28. > :42:31.they'll put it away. They will definitely want a second goal and
:42:32. > :42:34.they've just come close to it. Salford are going for the second
:42:35. > :42:36.goal. They are not resting on the 1-0 lead they have and I think
:42:37. > :42:51.that's the right thing to do. Good challenge from Dawson. Andy
:42:52. > :42:56.Dawson, who is the elder brother of Craig, who plays in the Premier
:42:57. > :43:00.League for West Bromwich Albion. I'm sure he'll be watching and rooting
:43:01. > :43:06.for his brother tonight. He is at Old Trafford tomorrow, just across
:43:07. > :43:10.the way, with West Brom to take on Manchester United. They've kept a
:43:11. > :43:19.few clean sheets this season, West Bromwich Albion. Hopefully that's a
:43:20. > :43:25.good omen for Salford. Ricardo Moniz deep in thought, the Notts County
:43:26. > :43:31.manager. His first experience of the FA Cup, as it stands, will be a disc
:43:32. > :44:01.-- bitterly disappointing one. Nicely flighted from Campbell
:44:02. > :44:08.towards McLeod. Calmly dealt with by Steve Howson.
:44:09. > :44:14.Brilliant play. Absolutely brilliant play. It's not just launched
:44:15. > :44:19.forward, it's played at a good height, wrought down by Poole, who
:44:20. > :44:31.brings Webber into the game. It's good play. -- brought down.
:44:32. > :44:42.Sheehan to bring it forward for Notts County, the 29-year-old. He
:44:43. > :44:49.was the underdog at Chelsea last season in the FA Cup. It's a role
:44:50. > :44:53.reversal for him tonight. I've been very disappointed with Notts County.
:44:54. > :45:00.For a team that trains on a daily basis...
:45:01. > :45:06.They've not been Noble to put two passes together. Technically they
:45:07. > :45:14.should be better. They train every day. You can't tell the difference.
:45:15. > :45:22.Salford could be in the same league. Five forward here.
:45:23. > :45:32.Stopforth thinks he has a corner and the referee agrees. I was mentioning
:45:33. > :45:36.those midfielders. The midfield three have not stopped running this
:45:37. > :45:40.whole game. He's popped up on the left wing, the right wing, won
:45:41. > :45:46.corners on both sides for his team. He looks a bit tired, hands on hips,
:45:47. > :45:49.but I'm sure he will suck it in and get his energy back and go again
:45:50. > :46:01.because that's what he's been doing throughout the game so far.
:46:02. > :46:10.McLeod to bring it forward. The 17-year-old, Lewis Hardcastle,
:46:11. > :46:25.stopped him in his tracks. No foul by Webber.
:46:26. > :46:33.Poole played over 100 times in the Football League for Hartlepool. He's
:46:34. > :46:36.stood out like a sore thumb today, James Poole. Work rate. You will
:46:37. > :46:41.always feel like he's the one. If there's going to be anything in
:46:42. > :46:46.terms of quality, he's the one who's going to provide it. He's put in a
:46:47. > :46:51.real shift, along with all his team. I just feel like James Poole out of
:46:52. > :46:56.the front three has really shone. Currently studying a degree at
:46:57. > :47:09.University, James Poole. Still only 25.
:47:10. > :47:20.No way through for Elliott Hewitt, the Welsh U21 international at right
:47:21. > :47:24.back for Notts County. His first season from Ipswich. He might have
:47:25. > :47:34.an opportunity to launch one of his long throws.
:47:35. > :47:46.It came off a Salford head. Howson. Notts County corner.
:47:47. > :47:53.These other situations... I think there's a foul. These other
:47:54. > :47:58.situations you would expect Salford to have had to deal with in their
:47:59. > :48:04.league. They deal with that one. Wild effort from Audel. Ball coming
:48:05. > :48:07.into the box constantly, having to deal with long balls and tonight
:48:08. > :48:14.they've looked comfortable dealing with long balls. It was no different
:48:15. > :48:21.from the long throw. Jordan Hulme still wondering how he didn't make
:48:22. > :48:26.it 2-0. He absolutely deserved to. Such a great effort. I don't know
:48:27. > :48:30.how he gets the shot off. He shifts it and hits it so quick and gets
:48:31. > :48:37.great power on it. From here it looked like it was going in. We are
:48:38. > :48:43.right behind it. So I'm lucky. -- so unlucky. Notts County are making
:48:44. > :48:51.another change. Alan Smith's night is over. Jimmy Spencer, the
:48:52. > :48:57.23-year-old striker. Six foot four. A change in formation, Steve. It's
:48:58. > :49:02.been a tough shift in midfield. He has gone up front, actually. A tough
:49:03. > :49:06.shift in midfield for Alan Smith, almost through no fault of his own.
:49:07. > :49:11.He's been getting missed out. The defence have not been passing it
:49:12. > :49:14.through midfield. The ball has been going directly into Salford boss
:49:15. > :49:16.back from two. In midfield, when the game is like that, it can be
:49:17. > :49:31.disheartening at times. Dawson a cross with the
:49:32. > :49:37.interception. Only his fourth game for Salford City tonight. He's had
:49:38. > :49:40.almost 18 months out. He's worked so hard. He's literally had to rebuild
:49:41. > :49:47.his knee after a cruciate knee ligament injury. He recently got
:49:48. > :49:53.playing again. What a fourth game back for him! Chris Lynch just
:49:54. > :50:08.making sure his boot is back on. Salford free kick. One thing I would
:50:09. > :50:13.say from Notts County's point of view, I think putting Jon Stead on
:50:14. > :50:19.the left wing is not a good option. He's always played up top through
:50:20. > :50:23.his career. Could Salford look at exposing that situation? He's never
:50:24. > :50:28.been one to be bombing up and down the wing. No disrespect to him, it's
:50:29. > :50:33.just not the best way to use him. He was the king of the underdog in this
:50:34. > :50:38.competition last season. A chance for Webber again. Denied on that
:50:39. > :50:42.occasion by Roy Carroll. The strike is linking up again. They always
:50:43. > :50:47.know where the other is. James Poole chesting down to Webber earlier,
:50:48. > :50:49.this time a flick on from Poole to Webber. They really have a good
:50:50. > :51:10.connection, those two. Howson hit that and the goalkeeper
:51:11. > :51:17.has to get there. Howson, magnificently, keeps it out! Steve
:51:18. > :51:22.Howson denying the equaliser for Notts County. There was a point
:51:23. > :51:28.right here where the goalkeeper is coming out and you are thinking stay
:51:29. > :51:29.on your line. A recipe for disaster. That is unbelievable. He stays with
:51:30. > :51:43.it. Chases it down. Hammered away by Jordan Hulme. How
:51:44. > :51:47.important could that moment be from Steve Howson? The 30-year-old
:51:48. > :51:53.central defender. He's being required again here and wins it in
:51:54. > :51:57.the air. Talking at the other end about the quality and the goal
:51:58. > :51:59.scored by Danny Webber. That's as good as a goal. Brilliant play from
:52:00. > :52:37.Howson. It's a Notts County corner. It was
:52:38. > :52:42.so good because a lot of the time in that situation, the natural reaction
:52:43. > :52:47.in a lot of players is to give up. To say, a mistake has been made and
:52:48. > :52:54.we aren't going to make it, it's 1-1. At no point did that enter his
:52:55. > :52:55.mind, he was always on it. What a challenge again. This time by
:52:56. > :53:08.Burton. No way through for Hardcastle.
:53:09. > :53:15.Salford are making their first change. It is going to be their
:53:16. > :53:20.goal-scorer, Danny Webber, who departs. Richie Allen, the
:53:21. > :53:26.29-year-old community Karch -- coach, is going to replace him. He
:53:27. > :53:31.got the extra time winner in the third qualifying round against
:53:32. > :53:37.Bradford Park Avenue. Another player who cost money last season from AFC
:53:38. > :53:43.filed. Six goals in 13 games this season for Richie Allen. Danny
:53:44. > :53:49.Webber has been absolutely brilliant today and he deserves a rest. He's
:53:50. > :53:52.shown that level of quality that Salford have needed at times. You
:53:53. > :53:59.can tell he's come down a few leagues to play. This is that
:54:00. > :54:03.opportunity. When he doesn't switch off, that's what I'm talking about.
:54:04. > :54:08.A lot of players would have said that's a goal, but he said no. He
:54:09. > :54:17.could have made better contact, but... That is inches away.
:54:18. > :54:23.Brilliant. Brilliant. Roy Carroll came out. Came out very effectively.
:54:24. > :54:30.He was caught as well in it to the, the Notts County goalkeeper. --
:54:31. > :54:35.inadvertently. Brave from Roy Carroll. James Poole has every right
:54:36. > :54:41.to go for it, the ball can be won. I think he catches Roy Carroll late on
:54:42. > :54:43.the leg. He's got every right to go for this, James Poole. He catches
:54:44. > :54:49.Roy Carroll late on the leg. He's got every right to go for this,
:54:50. > :54:56.James Poole. He's committed play from both players. He has to go for
:54:57. > :55:02.it. Roy Carroll does brilliantly for his defence. James Poole is one on
:55:03. > :55:07.one. Thankfully for Notts County, Roy Carroll is on top of the
:55:08. > :55:17.situation. The captain is back on his feet. Before Danny Webber
:55:18. > :55:20.departed, Roy Carroll denied in the second goal. He's made a couple of
:55:21. > :55:26.saves today and he's had to because Salford have been at it. Tough for
:55:27. > :55:30.Danny Webber to get it across the goal, but good link up play between
:55:31. > :55:36.the front two. You would expect Roy Carroll to save that. He got his
:55:37. > :55:52.angles right and stopped it. No way through for McLeod.
:55:53. > :56:01.Time is of the essence for Notts County. Inside the last 20 minutes.
:56:02. > :56:06.Super run from a Bora. Salford bodies in the way, Notts County
:56:07. > :56:10.corner. Notts County starting to get into the game now. A good run from
:56:11. > :56:23.Aborah. Nobody wanted to commit the tackle.
:56:24. > :56:29.Cleared by Lewis Hardcastle. What a mature performance from that
:56:30. > :56:36.17-year-old. He's been fantastic. We mentioned he's come down from
:56:37. > :56:41.Blackburn Academy. Young lad. What stands out is what I imagined
:56:42. > :56:45.before, he wasn't just happy sitting with the luxuries of being at the
:56:46. > :56:49.lovely Blackburn training ground, playing on lovely pitches, he's come
:56:50. > :56:53.here to learn the game. It's an education. This will be a huge part
:56:54. > :56:57.of that he will be able to use in years to come. The owner is looking
:56:58. > :57:05.more apprehensive. Richie Allen against Edwards. Looking for some
:57:06. > :57:13.support, the substitute. He's beaten all three of them! Allen again. What
:57:14. > :57:21.a goal! Richie Allen, the substitute! He has doubled Salford
:57:22. > :57:29.City's advantage! What an impact from the 29-year-old! That second
:57:30. > :57:37.round is within touching distance from the team in level seven of
:57:38. > :57:46.English football. Goal of the season. Give them the trophy now.
:57:47. > :57:50.That was absolutely phenomenal. Get the ball in the box if you can. Now
:57:51. > :57:54.you're thinking you are in trouble, you need support. He's the only one
:57:55. > :57:59.who knows what's going on. Look at that for a turn. Box it in and gets
:58:00. > :58:06.it back. What a finish that is in the bottom corner. I mentioned how
:58:07. > :58:10.important he was in getting into the first round. An extra time winner in
:58:11. > :58:15.the third qualifying round against Bradford Park Avenue. He's been on
:58:16. > :58:23.this pitch less than four minutes. What a telling contribution. Salford
:58:24. > :58:27.City leading 2-0. Look at them celebrating. That's why they bought
:58:28. > :58:32.the club, exactly why they bought the club, for things like that. We
:58:33. > :58:37.saw the business side on the show, but it's for the love of the game.
:58:38. > :58:41.For everyone involved, that was a special moment. Notts County looking
:58:42. > :58:52.for an immediate reply. Terrific block from Howson.
:58:53. > :59:02.Stead! He didn't get the last touch. Chris Lynch was throwing himself in
:59:03. > :59:07.there. I can't tell you how well Chris Lynch has done. He's used all
:59:08. > :59:11.his experience. He's on the wrong side of him, but he knows he has to
:59:12. > :59:21.get some form of contact on him to stop him. He makes more difficult
:59:22. > :59:26.for Jon Stead to get any contact. It's now or never for Notts County
:59:27. > :59:33.to try and rescue this. Spencer's header is well wide. Therefore
:59:34. > :59:39.hundreds support is behind that goal looking on in disbelief at the
:59:40. > :59:44.moment. -- 400 supporters. Rightly so. It's been a poor display from
:59:45. > :59:50.the league side. I don't remember one real bit of quality they've
:59:51. > :59:53.shown today, or anybody in that Notts County stand. They are well
:59:54. > :59:57.within their rights to feel disappointed with what the team has
:59:58. > :00:01.put on today. It's not been good enough. He'll be looking to make
:00:02. > :00:09.another change because he's got 15 minutes now to have an impact on
:00:10. > :00:15.this game. Ricardo Moniz talking to his assistant, Dave Kevan.
:00:16. > :00:25.Just one win in seven FA Cup games. The worse possible script for the
:00:26. > :00:30.League 2 team is unfolding here. But you cannot take anything away from
:00:31. > :00:34.Salford City and their performance. You can't, I think that is the main
:00:35. > :00:41.thing. Usually in these big scalps its down to bad pitches, bad
:00:42. > :00:46.weather. Another courageous challenge there. A bit of luck here
:00:47. > :00:52.and there... But today it has come down to, at the minute, Salford have
:00:53. > :01:08.just been the better side. Long from Hewitt. Campbell could bring it
:01:09. > :01:11.under control. Notts County corner. Six years ago Notts County were
:01:12. > :01:17.knocked out of this composition by Kettering, who were then in the
:01:18. > :01:21.Conference. That was Audel. Another corner. These are important moments
:01:22. > :01:27.for Salford. The managers will be thinking on the sideline, get
:01:28. > :01:31.through these next five minutes, because the last ten minute will be
:01:32. > :01:53.very tough for Salford if not county nick a goal. Handball against
:01:54. > :02:04.Aborah. A reminder, a huge weekend of FA Cup action across the BBC. FA
:02:05. > :02:07.Cup Final Score on BBC One. All the highlights from 6:30pm on BBC Two,
:02:08. > :02:15.and the FA Cup draw is also life for you, 7pm on Monday and that is here
:02:16. > :02:20.on BBC Two. The first action of the first round and it looks as though
:02:21. > :02:25.the FA Cup is not going to disappoint, yet again. Definitely
:02:26. > :02:29.not. I mean, this has been a fantastic game for us all to watch.
:02:30. > :02:37.The period of the FA Cup is alive and well here the night, when no --
:02:38. > :02:44.I know that. The quality we have seen, the goals we have seen. Burton
:02:45. > :02:48.was in the wake. They have defended so resolutely as well, Salford City.
:02:49. > :02:53.They have had it's important they don't start dropping too deep. I
:02:54. > :02:56.know they must be tired, but they need to try and maintain the
:02:57. > :03:07.pressure on that Notts County midfield. James Poole has a problem
:03:08. > :03:09.here. I think he has been the best player for Salford tonight. It's
:03:10. > :03:13.difficult to release single someone else at the moment because they have
:03:14. > :03:20.all been fantastic, but hopefully he is not hurt too much. I think it's
:03:21. > :03:29.just a spot of cramp. He has put in so much hard work, a real shift
:03:30. > :03:33.today, along with Webber and Hulme when he was on. That cramp can hurt
:03:34. > :03:38.and it looks like a heavy pitch to night. If he goes off hopefully
:03:39. > :03:45.whoever is coming on will be right and ready. The man who is coming on
:03:46. > :03:49.is a fitness instructor. One with Football League experience. The last
:03:50. > :03:55.man to come on was Richie Allen. What an entrance. Wow, what a view
:03:56. > :04:00.that is to watch it. I hope his friends at home have got it on
:04:01. > :04:04.record because having one that you can savour forever, that skill is
:04:05. > :04:11.brilliant. The 1-2 as well, the linkup play, it is good play all
:04:12. > :04:15.round. To be able to do that in that situation, say give it to me and I
:04:16. > :04:23.give it you back, and then the finish to top it all off! Is goals
:04:24. > :04:28.last season prompted Salford to secure his services. -- his goals.
:04:29. > :04:35.The most memorable goal that Richie Allen has scored to date. James
:04:36. > :04:36.Poole, whose goal beat Southport in the qualifying round is going to
:04:37. > :04:45.depart, so here comes Joan Wass -- here comes Joe Mwasile. He got a
:04:46. > :05:15.trial and they sign him up. Terrific defending, O'Halloran.
:05:16. > :05:20.Carry on with the game, good tackle, lab, we have one! -- good tackle,
:05:21. > :05:35.lad, we have won! Elliott Hewitt again with the long
:05:36. > :05:41.throw towards that near post. Salford allowed it to bounce.
:05:42. > :05:45.O'Halloran again. Back from Aborah, the goalkeeper backpedalled... So
:05:46. > :05:49.many bodies back there but cleared in the end by Lynch for another
:05:50. > :05:54.Notts County corner. These balls keep coming in the Salford box. It's
:05:55. > :05:57.only a matter of time before one drops to a Notts County player in a
:05:58. > :06:01.simple position and he sticks it away. They need to somehow get out
:06:02. > :06:07.of this pattern of playing and get the ball up into the attacking
:06:08. > :06:16.third. Well, Hewitt is departing for Notts County. Julian Jenner, the
:06:17. > :06:20.Dutchman, who arrived in the summer after three seasons in Hungary. A
:06:21. > :06:23.last throw of the dice from Ricardo Moonies
:06:24. > :06:37.-- from Muniz and Notts County. The referee has done well today. He's
:06:38. > :06:45.had a lot of bodies in there, a log of bodies, and a lot happening. That
:06:46. > :06:49.is an inviting one towards Stead. He got a touch. Back in from Spencer,
:06:50. > :07:00.Lynch with a decent bunch and accurate M3 with the clearance.
:07:01. > :07:13.That was Stopforth by the way, closing down the goalkeeper. And
:07:14. > :07:26.he's playing central midfield. I mean, he's not stopped all day
:07:27. > :07:30.either. Long from Sheehan. Andy Dawson, there is another FA Cup
:07:31. > :07:34.story. Been out for 18 months, worked so hard, rebuild his name.
:07:35. > :07:39.Just his fourth game for Salford tonight. It is an injury that I know
:07:40. > :07:43.a little bit too well as well. He must have some character to beat in
:07:44. > :07:49.that situation working hard and rebuilding his knee every day. I'll
:07:50. > :07:54.tell you where he works every day, the Inland Revenue! We had better be
:07:55. > :07:58.very nice to him! To give him another match!
:07:59. > :08:08.-- better give him Man of the Match! That is only about five minutes
:08:09. > :08:12.away... Notts County, the world's oldest club to still be playing
:08:13. > :08:15.professionally, on the verge of being knocked out by the
:08:16. > :08:20.semiprofessionals. From the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
:08:21. > :08:45.Cleared by Howson. Then O'Halloran. Aborah but that was too strong, into
:08:46. > :08:49.McLeod. We picked out Stead and McLeod at the beginning of the game
:08:50. > :08:53.for their record and their experience in the league. Salford
:08:54. > :08:58.City have marked them out of the game. A lot that has come down to
:08:59. > :09:01.Dawson and Howson, who have been absolutely brilliant. Everything
:09:02. > :09:06.that has come into the box been headed away. They have not allowed
:09:07. > :09:13.any balls to come into their feet where they can cause damage as well.
:09:14. > :09:19.Just collectively, Hulme at left-back clearing the ball... Every
:09:20. > :09:27.time that comes into the box, there is always an answer to get it away.
:09:28. > :09:39.And again, this time from Dawson. Aborah. Every Salford City player
:09:40. > :09:46.back inside their own half. In from Jenner. Too strong for McLeod. That
:09:47. > :09:49.is what has surprised me most about Notts County. These are professional
:09:50. > :09:53.players. At some point you think that's not working, let's get in
:09:54. > :09:55.behind the full-backs. But they keep knocking on the same door and keep
:09:56. > :10:00.getting the same answer. In it goes again. Dawson is there
:10:01. > :10:27.again. Hardcastle. It ran away from Audel, and this is
:10:28. > :10:33.running away from Notts County. And they still can't celebrate, they
:10:34. > :10:47.still can't relax. 20 months since buying this club. And just ten
:10:48. > :10:50.months into their time for that managerial duo. They told me they
:10:51. > :10:55.lost their first game and they weren't sure it was going to work.
:10:56. > :11:05.But this would be their greatest moment.
:11:06. > :11:17.Mike Edwards for Notts County. Up towards Spencer. He is beaten to it
:11:18. > :11:25.by Dawson. This is McLeod. And that's a goal kick. Brave defending
:11:26. > :11:31.once again. They have been absolutely solid. Any time there has
:11:32. > :11:37.been any trouble coming down either side, they have covered each other
:11:38. > :11:40.really well. Patting each other on the back saying well done. They
:11:41. > :11:41.deserve that, they have been absolutely outstanding. That
:11:42. > :12:15.tonight. Good pressure from Allen. In from
:12:16. > :12:21.Aborah. Oh! Lynch lost it but he prevented the corner, though. So,
:12:22. > :12:27.Jermaine, you look at the scoreline now, 2-0, and you remember that old
:12:28. > :12:33.saving clearance at 1-0. How important was that? It was a
:12:34. > :12:36.complete game changer. If that goes in, you can almost guarantee the
:12:37. > :12:40.pendulum swing the other way into Notts County lost favour, and it
:12:41. > :12:43.would have done. At clearance at that point in the game, the
:12:44. > :12:52.importance of it was there for all to see.
:12:53. > :13:10.Forward from Howson. Aborah. Putting the pressure on Aborah again.
:13:11. > :13:15.Absolutely, you know, the work rate he has put in in midfield,
:13:16. > :13:22.Stopforth... Nonstop running. Spencer trying to get to that. Off
:13:23. > :13:24.the head of McLeod. Campbell. Noble tried the curling effort, Liam
:13:25. > :13:33.Noble. So, as we head into the 90th minute,
:13:34. > :13:44.time for Jermaine Jenas's Man of the Match. Well, unfortunately I can't
:13:45. > :13:47.give it to the whole team! The two centre halves have been brilliant,
:13:48. > :13:54.but James Poole is the man who really stood out for me tonight. In
:13:55. > :13:59.the first half he created a lot of problems. He got the assist for the
:14:00. > :14:02.first goal. He was the assist in Notts County -- the thorn in Notts
:14:03. > :14:04.County and a plus side until he eventually went off with cramp
:14:05. > :14:20.because of how hard he worked. Ten G Moses, the son of the former
:14:21. > :14:25.Manchester United and West Brom player is going to get a brief taste
:14:26. > :14:39.of the FA Cup first round, next time the ball goes out of play. . They
:14:40. > :14:47.have played it to perfection today, the management. At the right times
:14:48. > :14:51.they have told there -- their team to sit off. They have been
:14:52. > :14:53.brilliant, the management tonight, in their management of this
:14:54. > :15:09.particular game, and obviously the players.
:15:10. > :15:39.Short, to Allen. Hulme. Cut out by Jenner. Aborah.
:15:40. > :15:51.Four minutes until full-time, four minutes until the Salford City party
:15:52. > :15:54.can begin. It's just a little altercation down below us between
:15:55. > :15:59.Jenner and Hulme. All a little unnecessary. Roy Carroll has
:16:00. > :16:05.sprinted right out of his goal to get involved as well. That's the
:16:06. > :16:15.last thing they want, Notts County, 2-0 down. Just get on with the game.
:16:16. > :16:26.That's what happened. Jenner with the clearance. And then one of the
:16:27. > :16:38.supporters... Stupidly did that. That's unacceptable, yeah.
:16:39. > :16:52.So, Tunji Moses to come on. Lewis Hardcastle. What a night for the
:16:53. > :16:57.17-year-old. I spoke about the education of players at Salford City
:16:58. > :17:02.rather than being at Blackpool and he completely deserves this round of
:17:03. > :17:06.applause. This is a night he will not forget. He will be able to take
:17:07. > :17:11.this through his career and learn from nights like this. Brilliant
:17:12. > :17:16.decision for him to stay and I'm sure the management are delighted.
:17:17. > :17:21.He deserves all the hugs and applause he is getting. Brilliant
:17:22. > :17:27.header from Dawson and then cleared by Chris Lynch. Salford will never
:17:28. > :17:42.have seen a party quite like this. In the class of 92... Here is
:17:43. > :17:49.Mwasile, he might fancy a turn... Very unlucky. You could just feel
:17:50. > :17:53.that his legs were dying on him a bit as he was breaking through. But
:17:54. > :17:58.he had a dig, only a minute left, you might as well.
:17:59. > :18:10.Final minute of stoppage time. McLeod. Campbell for Notts County.
:18:11. > :18:17.Hammered clear by Chris Lynch. Back to Noble and that just about sums up
:18:18. > :18:22.Notts County Ladies and in. It completely does. When you are 2-0 up
:18:23. > :18:26.and someone does that on the opposing side, there's no better
:18:27. > :18:32.site! You think, you try and hit that coming out of the sky, we will
:18:33. > :18:34.take that all day. Just run down the clock and seal this historic win now
:18:35. > :19:01.for Salford. This is Stead. His FA Cup journey
:19:02. > :19:07.will be coming to an abrupt halt at round one, unlike last season. Here
:19:08. > :19:19.is Mwasile. Into the final few seconds now.
:19:20. > :19:32.They are all set. Notts County throw.
:19:33. > :19:39.FULL-TIME WHISTLE Is a magical moment in history.
:19:40. > :19:43.Wherever this Salford City story takes them, this is a chapter they
:19:44. > :19:49.will never forget, and the FA Cup has provided it yet again. The team
:19:50. > :19:53.that had never even been in the fourth qualifying round of the FA
:19:54. > :19:58.Cup before this season, the side from level seven of the footballing
:19:59. > :20:04.pyramid, are through to the second round and they have knocked out the
:20:05. > :20:09.team 59 places above them. The world's oldest club to still be
:20:10. > :20:14.playing professionally have been dumped out by the semiprofessionals
:20:15. > :20:18.of Salford City. Speaking to Nicky Butt before the game, he did say to
:20:19. > :20:23.me that they fancied it today and he thought they would win today, and I
:20:24. > :20:30.can see why, now. I can see why. There will be a lot of teams looking
:20:31. > :20:34.at them in the next FA Cup draw and thinking I'm not sure I want to go
:20:35. > :20:39.there! Fully deserved. This little pitch invasion they are getting now
:20:40. > :20:44.and the applause from the crowd, brilliant all-round. Great from
:20:45. > :20:47.Salford City. What a night and certainly one they will never
:20:48. > :20:52.forget. The Salford City party can officially begin! Salford City 2-0
:20:53. > :21:02.Notts County. Amazing stuff. Warrington set the
:21:03. > :21:07.tone in last season's FA Cup and Salford City have done it tonight.
:21:08. > :21:11.Let's bring in two of the owners joining us now, Nicky and Gary
:21:12. > :21:14.Neville. You said at half-time you thought you were playing well, to
:21:15. > :21:19.gold into the second half and you are into the next round of the FA
:21:20. > :21:22.Cup. It's fantastic, just amazing, fantastic for the lads. We got the
:21:23. > :21:26.award and it's amazing for the fans and the players. Gary, you told us
:21:27. > :21:31.beforehand you weren't nervous, you had no reason to be! To be honest I
:21:32. > :21:34.just thought it was a bonus being here, but I thought we were the
:21:35. > :21:38.better team and an unbelievable effort. Did you think at any stage
:21:39. > :21:43.that Notts County would have been as poor as they work? Were you
:21:44. > :21:50.expecting more? No, but that goal-line clearance was a big
:21:51. > :21:54.moment! They did not play well but respect to them, it wasn't easy for
:21:55. > :21:58.any club to come here tonight. Nicky, you have big plans for this
:21:59. > :22:02.club. Let's bring in your goal-scorers, Danny Webber and
:22:03. > :22:06.Richie Allen. Danny, let's grab a quick word with you. Trevor, you
:22:07. > :22:11.said to Danny at half-time, go out there and score a goal. Danny, you
:22:12. > :22:17.are live on the BBC. Danny Webber, hello? Trevor Sinclair said you
:22:18. > :22:22.would go out and score a goal, tell us about that second half? As we
:22:23. > :22:31.were coming out we were excited and we wanted to get them on the back
:22:32. > :22:34.foot a little bit. When it broke to Pooley he said try and get on the
:22:35. > :22:38.outside of him, so I did and managed to scuff it in. Are you giving the
:22:39. > :22:43.full credit to Trevor Sinclair? LAUGHTER
:22:44. > :22:47.I will take some of it! Ritchie had a bit of magic to seal it. Let's
:22:48. > :22:52.have a look at the goal, let's show you this. This came in the first
:22:53. > :22:55.minute of the second half. Danny, talked us through it. I just thought
:22:56. > :23:01.I would peel off round the back. You looked over his shoulder and didn't
:23:02. > :23:08.see me. I saw Pooley and I just thought, be there, be there. Two
:23:09. > :23:12.yards out. The defender is the wrong side. What Danny has done is keep
:23:13. > :23:17.the defender away from him. He just needed Pooley to put in a decent
:23:18. > :23:22.ball and he has done it. Perfect time to score. That was an important
:23:23. > :23:27.goal, but the other fellow we have got with us here scored a pretty
:23:28. > :23:31.decent one! Richie Allen, when you came on in the 68th minute, talked
:23:32. > :23:34.us through your thoughts when you came on the pitch? To be honest I
:23:35. > :23:39.just thought if we can still win the game, and if I could make a
:23:40. > :23:46.difference I would be really happy. At one stage I thought you had held
:23:47. > :23:50.onto it for too long? In the corner, I have like, still got hold of the
:23:51. > :23:55.ball. I was thinking I'm going to lose control of the ball here, but I
:23:56. > :24:03.kept my composure. I thought to myself, someone has got to back him
:24:04. > :24:10.up now. And then I do this! That is amazing, that is awesome. Great
:24:11. > :24:16.stuff. I tried my best! I said when you came out I have seen him and he
:24:17. > :24:23.can play. Have a look at him. And then you did this! Not bad, not bad.
:24:24. > :24:28.Danny, put it into perspective for us. How important is this for the
:24:29. > :24:32.club and the players and the fans? You can see how happy everybody is.
:24:33. > :24:36.The whole community has come out tonight and supported us. We are
:24:37. > :24:38.grateful for that but just to be in the next round, having played a
:24:39. > :24:43.League 2 team, everyone is delighted. I know it's about goals
:24:44. > :24:49.and goals win games but we have to talk about that save off the line
:24:50. > :24:53.from Houston. Gentlemen, thank you for coming on, Anthony Johnson and
:24:54. > :24:56.Bernard Morley. These two guys have scored the goals but Anthony, the
:24:57. > :25:02.clearance off the line from Houston was as crucial as the goals?
:25:03. > :25:06.Unbelievable clearance, I thought it was his fault to start with! But for
:25:07. > :25:12.someone like him to get that clearance, brilliant. I know the
:25:13. > :25:15.club have got huge plans. We've spoken to Nicky Butt, Gary Neville,
:25:16. > :25:19.Paul Scholes. But it's nights like this that really make a club.
:25:20. > :25:24.Absolutely, once-in-a-lifetime stuff. We have come up against a top
:25:25. > :25:28.draw side and we battered them, in all honesty. I don't want to sound
:25:29. > :25:32.disrespectful but we've been excellent. I said before the game we
:25:33. > :25:35.would match them for work rate, that is one thing we would do. The effort
:25:36. > :25:40.they put in is absolutely staggering, staggering. When you
:25:41. > :25:43.look into the players's eyes, did you get the feeling that this would
:25:44. > :25:47.be a night when the mentality would be right and they could deliver a
:25:48. > :25:49.performance like that? We always knew that if our concentration
:25:50. > :25:54.levels were right we would match anybody. To be honest, I thought we
:25:55. > :26:01.matched them for 90 minutes and we were the better side. I don't think
:26:02. > :26:05.they put us under pressure at all. I thought the back five was immense
:26:06. > :26:09.from start to finish. A magical touch won us the game. Gentlemen,
:26:10. > :26:15.get out there to buy congratulations. Ian, will we talk
:26:16. > :26:20.about this as one of the great cup upsets, even though they were
:26:21. > :26:24.comfortable tonight? It's an upset of course but like I say, you have
:26:25. > :26:27.to say with Salford, they have to get all the credit. Right from the
:26:28. > :26:31.start I thought there might have been a problem with their fitness
:26:32. > :26:35.but nothing of the sword. They won all the second balls. They were
:26:36. > :26:38.aggressive from the start to the finish and they deserve it really.
:26:39. > :26:43.Anyone would have thought Salford worthy league team. They deserved
:26:44. > :26:48.it, they were superb. -- were the league team. Some of them have been
:26:49. > :26:53.out at work today! It's absolutely brilliant for non-league football.
:26:54. > :26:57.They can enjoy themselves and why not? They are the first team into
:26:58. > :27:01.the second round of the FA Cup. It's the first time they've got to this
:27:02. > :27:04.round. For them to get through with that kind of attitude and
:27:05. > :27:09.willingness and passion in the team, to a man, it was refreshing to
:27:10. > :27:14.see. I haven't seen it for a long time, to be honest. So comfortable
:27:15. > :27:18.as well, not like it was a fluke and they were under the cosh the whole
:27:19. > :27:24.time. They created more chances than Notts County and they deserved the
:27:25. > :27:27.win. We will have some reaction from Notts County and their manager on
:27:28. > :27:31.the website, but tonight is all about Salford City. Just a reminder
:27:32. > :27:35.for you all of where you can watch the rest of the FA Cup coverage this
:27:36. > :27:37.weekend, because there is plenty more football on the way for you.
:27:38. > :27:42.Nine football shows in total. This lot have set the tone, haven't
:27:43. > :27:52.they? Catch up with everything on the
:27:53. > :28:03.website and all the Premier League is covered in Match of the Day.
:28:04. > :28:11.Match of the Day to will finish the weekend off nicely. Don't forget the
:28:12. > :28:16.draw for round two is on Monday night at 7pm on BBC Two. You know
:28:17. > :28:21.what? There is one team in it already. They are Salford City. The
:28:22. > :28:23.FA Cup has delivered again. Good night.
:28:24. > :28:31.COMMENTATOR: 59 places between them. One game, one night.
:28:32. > :28:47.Didn't clear it... Good effort. Here is a chance for Hulme... James Poole
:28:48. > :28:53.curling it to the back post! Less than 20 seconds into the second
:28:54. > :29:01.half! Still Jordan Hulme! Mightily close. Magnificent. What a goal! A
:29:02. > :29:02.magical moment in
