:00:30. > :00:36.Hello. Good afternoon to you. Welcome to Wembley. Thousands of

:00:37. > :00:40.Chelsea and Arsenal fans are heading down Wembley way for the 2017

:00:41. > :00:44.Emirates FA Cup final. If you don't have a ticket, sit back, relax and

:00:45. > :00:48.enjoy the very best build-up right here on the FA Cup Show.

:00:49. > :00:53.In the next few minutes, the remarkable stories of those who

:00:54. > :00:58.competed in the FA People's Cup. I had aprehelpings, I thought hang on,

:00:59. > :01:03.I can coach a team, but to coach a deaf team, I was nervous. The highs

:01:04. > :01:09.and lows of the road to Wembley set to music. # FA Cup final, no

:01:10. > :01:13.friendly... And an exclusive interview with Arsene Wenger ahead

:01:14. > :01:19.of what could be his last match in charge at Arsenal. I believe it's a

:01:20. > :01:23.difference between being criticised and being treated in a way that a

:01:24. > :01:31.human being don't deserve to be treated. I will never forget that.

:01:32. > :01:36.We look at some of the top football comedy sketches through history. To

:01:37. > :01:45.me, there's nothing worse than a fake fan. Well, things to do. Nice

:01:46. > :01:49.to have met you. And of course the main event on air at 4. 15pm with

:01:50. > :01:57.highlights for those of you who like to relive it with me at 11. 35pm.

:01:58. > :02:00.And here we are walking up Wembley way with the Arsenal and the Chelsea

:02:01. > :02:05.fans, a gorgeous day here at Wembley. The one thing you have to

:02:06. > :02:10.say about this, this really is one of the great days in British sport.

:02:11. > :02:14.Lots of fans just walking up, having a drink and a burger. What you need

:02:15. > :02:21.are two former athletes, former athletes! Look at them, talking into

:02:22. > :02:31.a burger! You have only been retired a few years. Ladies and gentlemen,

:02:32. > :02:34.caught eating chips! Pat, Nevin, fresh from winning. I am delighted

:02:35. > :02:39.about that. You have been doing it for how long? Forever, exactly.

:02:40. > :02:43.Actually it was me that was having the chips there, apologies. Good

:02:44. > :02:46.start to the day for me and for the Chelsea fans here they're really

:02:47. > :02:50.excited about it, up for it. It's a stunning day. The weather is exactly

:02:51. > :02:55.the way you want it. It's really boiling, but I think that's more to

:02:56. > :02:59.do with sitting here behind me. But the players won't care. What is

:03:00. > :03:02.interesting today is that yes there are fans here from Chelsea and from

:03:03. > :03:05.Arsenal just down the road effectively but fans have been here

:03:06. > :03:10.since early this morning. This is a match with a lot of anticipation for

:03:11. > :03:16.these fans. Definitely. You remember soaking up the atmosphere, getting

:03:17. > :03:20.there early, the sun is always out on the day and why don't you get as

:03:21. > :03:24.much out of it as you can. When you saw Chelsea in September did you

:03:25. > :03:28.honestly think that Antonio Conte's side would be going for the double?

:03:29. > :03:32.I knew of his history but no chance in the world did you think that. The

:03:33. > :03:42.primary thought in most Chelsea's fans heads was, you know, the era of

:03:43. > :03:46.Cech, Lampard and Terry, Drogba, finishing now. Will it come back?

:03:47. > :03:50.Finishing 10th in the league. Nine months later and suddenly a

:03:51. > :03:53.possibility of a double. There is no way that any Chelsea fan thought

:03:54. > :03:58.there was any chance of that. The big fear is dropping back a long

:03:59. > :04:02.way, because a lot of other teams, City, United, Liverpool, Everton,

:04:03. > :04:05.Spurs all getting strong again. In many ways this could easily have

:04:06. > :04:08.been, it's obvious to say, this could have been a Manchester City

:04:09. > :04:11.and Spurs final. But for Chelsea when you look at what's happened

:04:12. > :04:16.over the last couple of weeks or so, now they have to focus on a Cup

:04:17. > :04:20.final, how easy to do that? It's the FA Cup final, it's a huge day but

:04:21. > :04:24.when you have won the league and have been celebrating and you also

:04:25. > :04:27.have had a few games in between winning where the importance isn't

:04:28. > :04:34.as high, it's really important that you get back on it and refocus and

:04:35. > :04:39.get into the Cup final early. I promised myself I wouldn't mention

:04:40. > :04:43.this but you were unlucky when it came to FA Cups, you were part of

:04:44. > :04:46.the squad but never played? Why did you mention that! It's one of those

:04:47. > :04:51.things you want to forget. Disappointing for me, played in a

:04:52. > :04:54.lot of the early rounds and for one reason or another injuries, maybe

:04:55. > :04:58.mainly. The last time it was a really bad injury. I have always

:04:59. > :05:04.missed out on a Cup final day, always been here having a burger!

:05:05. > :05:07.Look at that, fine tailoring you are in. Who is going to win today?

:05:08. > :05:12.Chelsea are favourites. Big favourites. But it's not going to be

:05:13. > :05:17.a walkover. This is not... Arsenal are a good side, on good form. It's

:05:18. > :05:23.been a good run they've had in the league since they changed to that

:05:24. > :05:26.3-4-3. It's tight, if Chelsea and Arsenal play to their best, I still

:05:27. > :05:28.suspect Chelsea will win but it will be tighter than people are

:05:29. > :05:33.suggesting. Every former Arsenal player we have had in the studio on

:05:34. > :05:36.Final Score and Match of the Day, I have tried so hard, incredibly hard,

:05:37. > :05:40.and on live radio to find out what the inside track is. Here goes. Any

:05:41. > :05:47.news on Arsene Wenger, is this his last game? Don't know. Even if he

:05:48. > :05:53.knew he is not telling us. If you want my opinion, I think no. I think

:05:54. > :05:57.he will stay. But it's a bit of... It's a 50-50 chance of getting it

:05:58. > :06:00.right, I guess. Thank you. God bless you, thank you very much. There you

:06:01. > :06:04.are, you can have that, that's yours! You are just going for the

:06:05. > :06:08.tea. By the way, we want to you get involved here today on social media,

:06:09. > :06:15.on Twitter, on Facebook. Let us know how you are getting ready for the

:06:16. > :06:19.big FA Cup final. Use the hashtag BBC football. There is the best one

:06:20. > :06:26.so far. Look at the lovely pictures. Lots of you getting involved.

:06:27. > :06:29.Much more from us to come in half an hour after we remind ourselves of

:06:30. > :06:43.the magic of this year's FA People's Cup.

:06:44. > :06:49.It's the FA People's Cup Finals Day here in Birmingham and we are

:06:50. > :06:54.welcoming teams from all over the country. 40,000 people have been

:06:55. > :06:58.whipped down to just 672. Everyone is hoping to get their hands on the

:06:59. > :07:03.prestigious People's Cup trophy. It's a trip to Wembley for the FA

:07:04. > :07:06.Cup final. We are praying that this day would

:07:07. > :07:09.happen. It's hard to get to the finals and such a big prize. It

:07:10. > :07:13.gives regular people a chance on the big stage. Words can't describe it.

:07:14. > :07:17.We are nervous. We are going to do this and go back with the trophy. We

:07:18. > :07:21.worked hard for each other. Heads up, positive attitude. Who needs a

:07:22. > :07:27.day of revision when we can go to Wembley! Let's go boys! Come on!

:07:28. > :07:31.This is the FA People's Cup. Welcome to the finals of the FA

:07:32. > :07:33.People's Cup. Forget the professionals for now, this is the

:07:34. > :07:38.tournament that gives ordinary people like you and me the chance to

:07:39. > :07:44.play in our version of the FA Cup. This year, 40,000 of you signed up

:07:45. > :07:48.to take part. Playing in categories based on age, gender and ability.

:07:49. > :07:52.Matches were held in football centres all over the country. With

:07:53. > :07:55.teams whittled down through two intense rounds of action. Only the

:07:56. > :07:59.best have made it all the way through to the national finals in

:08:00. > :08:03.Birmingham. People's Cup glory is within reach. Their prize, walking

:08:04. > :08:09.out on to the pitch at Wembley during half-time at the FA Cup final

:08:10. > :08:12.to collect their trophy. If you can walk out at Wembley on FA Cup final

:08:13. > :08:22.day, it's something anybody would look forward to. To have a chance to

:08:23. > :08:28.win, a great incentive to play. It's the ultimate prize, going on the

:08:29. > :08:33.pitch at Wembley. I have supported Arsenal and never been to a game and

:08:34. > :08:37.so to get tickets to go there would be nice. Excellent. So the stakes

:08:38. > :08:42.are high. Here is what you can expect from the next 30 minutes of

:08:43. > :08:47.action. Match of the Day's Trevor Sinclair

:08:48. > :08:52.tries his hand at walking football. One of the boys' teams enjoys a

:08:53. > :08:56.training session with the England under-21s. And Arsenal star Alex

:08:57. > :08:59.Scott meets a women's football pioneer hoping for People's Cup

:09:00. > :09:04.glory. There's me, that one with all the hair. The People's Cup has

:09:05. > :09:10.incredible teams with a passion for football. None more so than the deaf

:09:11. > :09:48.Rhinos who I met in Manchester. I had aPremiership hengss, I thought

:09:49. > :09:51.hang on I can coach able-bodied team but I was nervous, I thought I

:09:52. > :09:56.couldn't do this. I don't know sign language. You are doing it with your

:09:57. > :10:04.hands, with your eyes, your smile. I thought OK, when you coach football

:10:05. > :10:07.you demonstrate. Let's try it. The People's Cup has been fantastic for

:10:08. > :10:10.our club and the players that took part. It gave them an opportunity to

:10:11. > :10:14.play in an FA organised tournament. They played against teams that are

:10:15. > :10:25.at a high level they're used to, to improve their football, it's

:10:26. > :10:31.improved their game. On pitch number 6 Deaf Rhinos. Well done! We played

:10:32. > :10:35.really well. Played good teams. We surprised ourselves that we beat

:10:36. > :10:42.them and we reached the semifinal. Our boys played really well, we just

:10:43. > :10:45.about missed out. Well done boys. They were disappointed, yes, but

:10:46. > :10:48.within minutes we realised how far we have come and how much we enjoyed

:10:49. > :10:51.the day. The disappointment went out the window and we started

:10:52. > :10:55.celebrating how much we have achieved. The memories they've took

:10:56. > :11:00.they'll never forget and the exposure we got on the day was

:11:01. > :11:06.fantastic. From there, we have already had inquiries from players,

:11:07. > :11:17.I thought wow, deaf players exist, I want to join them. As a club, we are

:11:18. > :12:24.more well-known. It's great to know even though the

:12:25. > :12:28.Deaf Rhinos didn't make it to the finals their involvement has been so

:12:29. > :12:31.successful. Behind me right now is the disability Premiership final.

:12:32. > :12:36.England CP captain Jack is with me right now. There's been a massive

:12:37. > :12:39.cheer, what's happened? They've won the ball inside the half and smashed

:12:40. > :12:43.it in the back of the net. A second goal now. It's 2-0. 2-0 to Exeter at

:12:44. > :12:47.the moment. What have you made of the action here this weekend? It's

:12:48. > :12:50.been brilliant. Really impressed by the standard of it. And how

:12:51. > :12:53.competitive it is. How much everyone is enjoying it. It's really good to

:12:54. > :12:57.see because obviously the opportunity to lift the trophy at

:12:58. > :13:01.Wembley is every person's dream, in my opinion. It's nice everyone gets

:13:02. > :13:05.the opportunity to do that. Even the ones who don't, will still say

:13:06. > :13:11.they've had a fantastic time in the People's Cup dream. 4-1. Exeter

:13:12. > :13:16.champions. What a game. Champions! I would like to thank

:13:17. > :13:19.everyone involved with disability football in general, because it's

:13:20. > :13:25.like ladies football, it's growing. The more people get involved and are

:13:26. > :13:28.aware it's great. Thanks to everyone for helping boost disability

:13:29. > :13:31.football because we are no different to anyone else and we all have

:13:32. > :13:37.issues and stuff, it's great everyone is involved.

:13:38. > :13:43.Really pleased that we got to this stage. And produced the goods to

:13:44. > :13:47.win. I am very proud of them. They deserve to be in the final. I am

:13:48. > :13:50.very happy myself. I am chuffed for the lads, we have lads that have

:13:51. > :13:53.never been part of a team before, to be part of a team and winning

:13:54. > :13:59.something like this is massive. They'll remember if for the rest of

:14:00. > :14:04.their lives. When it comes to sport there really

:14:05. > :14:10.are no barriers. And that definitely goes for age as well. The walking

:14:11. > :14:13.football category bears the older player in mind and our own veteran

:14:14. > :14:20.Trevor Sinclair has been taking a closer look. I am in my mid-40s,

:14:21. > :14:23.believe it or not, I am here in Berkshire, there is is team inside

:14:24. > :14:33.ready to train and I am going to join them.

:14:34. > :14:37.Great to meet you. And you too. What initially appealed to you about

:14:38. > :14:40.walking football? It gets people involved, maybe it could be an age

:14:41. > :14:46.thing, you know, they can't run as well as they used to. You have to be

:14:47. > :14:51.over 50 to play. Also it can be injury that restricts you from

:14:52. > :14:57.playing running football. I know from experience because I have had

:14:58. > :15:03.five knee operations. I had my spine unzipped 13 years ago and then

:15:04. > :15:09.recently in the last couple of years I have got an arthritic hip. I

:15:10. > :15:12.didn't think I would play football again but walking football, whether

:15:13. > :15:16.it's in goal or playing on the pitch it gives you that ability where you

:15:17. > :15:17.can still be competitive. And I will do that until my body says you can't

:15:18. > :15:28.do any more. This has given us the ability to

:15:29. > :15:31.compete against players of our own ability. We can't keep playing until

:15:32. > :15:36.our 70s. We have been training against younger people and players

:15:37. > :15:40.every Monday to make it tougher for ourselves. Before the game starts,

:15:41. > :15:45.without stating the obvious, what are the differences between walking

:15:46. > :15:50.and normal football? Obviously you can't run. The ball can't go

:15:51. > :15:54.overhead height. There are no sliding tackles. You can't go to

:15:55. > :15:58.ground. I'm quite pleased about that because I got some rough treatment

:15:59. > :16:05.when I was playing. I might get through this game! I was tempted to

:16:06. > :16:07.run with it there. That's pathetic! Take that all-day long. She's

:16:08. > :16:25.vicious. You've got to be so alert. Don't watch the eyes, keeper. How

:16:26. > :16:33.would you compare that to normal football? It's tough.

:16:34. > :16:38.Cardiovascular, got a good sweat on. Thoroughly fed my appetite for

:16:39. > :16:42.football, the Angles, touches, the weight of pass, shooting, slotting

:16:43. > :16:45.in a penalty, giving the keeper the eyes. That's me spent. Better let

:16:46. > :17:02.these guys recover for the finals. Look forward to getting involved in

:17:03. > :17:11.this in a few years, when I get 50. What a strike!

:17:12. > :17:16.You see the quality is a lot better at this stage of the competition.

:17:17. > :17:35.What a strike! , three what a finish. 2-0 up and looking

:17:36. > :17:41.good for the final now. Big mistake. Can Birmingham get back in this? You

:17:42. > :17:47.can sense a bit of urgency now. Can't concede in the last minutes.

:17:48. > :18:04.Oh! Penalties it is. Good timing. Great penalty, well done. World,

:18:05. > :18:10.boys. The awaits. See you in the final. We will be back with the

:18:11. > :18:15.Wokingham laps later to see how they got on in the final. The most

:18:16. > :18:23.popular category in the people's FA Cup is the adults men. Just six

:18:24. > :18:36.remain. These guys must be pretty decent.

:18:37. > :18:42.And those six were down to the last two in a final that didn't lack in

:18:43. > :18:50.ferocity and controversy, with a disputed goal handing Stafford

:18:51. > :18:52.-based Woolpack united the trophy. We knew it would be tough but we

:18:53. > :18:57.never thought who would come this far and win the final. It was a

:18:58. > :19:05.really tough game, but credit to the lads who worked so hard through the

:19:06. > :19:10.day. Going to Wembley, stepping out on the pitch and getting your

:19:11. > :19:17.trophy. Amazing feeling. Doesn't get much better than that. I might have

:19:18. > :19:24.to book the day off work! Sorry. Juggling the 9-5 routine with the FA

:19:25. > :19:37.People's Cup can be difficult. On a Monday night we have a massive

:19:38. > :19:42.session. We do 7-11 girls, and then the mums join in as well. Instead of

:19:43. > :19:47.just standing around for an hour, they run around. We have a lot of

:19:48. > :19:53.equipment tonight, nearly 16 people coming. She Can Play is about girls

:19:54. > :20:00.and women coming together and playing football, regardless of your

:20:01. > :20:10.ability, size and age. Last year I saw the FA Cup for people advertised

:20:11. > :20:14.on Twitter. My heart was going grimly got through to the final.

:20:15. > :20:22.They scored in the last 20 seconds and we were devastated. The FA

:20:23. > :20:28.People's Cup has literally provided a platform for me to coach. It

:20:29. > :20:33.basically pushed me into doing it. I love it. I can't think of my life

:20:34. > :20:37.now without it. It's made me realise sport isn't about being really good

:20:38. > :20:42.or playing all your life being skilful. It's about having fun. We

:20:43. > :20:47.laugh, every single week we come and enjoy it. That's the important

:20:48. > :20:50.thing. That and when in! The kids have their activities and the

:20:51. > :20:54.parents have their activities, but this is fantastic to go together and

:20:55. > :20:59.I feel closer to my girls. We get to learn how girls can play football

:21:00. > :21:04.and not the boys all the time. Anybody can get up and off the couch

:21:05. > :21:08.and get out and play. There should be no barriers. Especially showing

:21:09. > :21:12.young girls that there should be no barriers to sport. What greater role

:21:13. > :21:19.model for us? We finished the mums only and girls only training and we

:21:20. > :21:26.are heading over to the She Can Play team. Cat drives us and she so

:21:27. > :21:30.dedicated. She teaches everybody from kids who are little to their

:21:31. > :21:34.mums. The dream of the FA People's Cup is to take the trophy to

:21:35. > :21:38.Wembley. I felt like we should have done that in 2016. We will be coming

:21:39. > :21:42.back with a vengeance this year and we will not leave until the cup is

:21:43. > :21:54.in our hands with She Can Play on it. Although She Can Play made it to

:21:55. > :21:57.the finals weekend with 11 victories behind them, they failed to match up

:21:58. > :22:03.to the standard in Birmingham and finished on the table. Hard to put

:22:04. > :22:08.into words. Struggled a little bit and didn't get off to the best of

:22:09. > :22:10.starts, but the competition this year has been unbelievable. Credit

:22:11. > :22:15.to the teams that have gone through. They are really good teams.

:22:16. > :22:21.The final two teams out of the dozens that entered. Our you

:22:22. > :22:27.feeling? Relative order the game, may the best team win. Absolutely

:22:28. > :22:30.buzzing. Hopefully we can come away with the trophy. -- really looking

:22:31. > :22:52.forward to the game. Wicked deflection. Plymouth take the

:22:53. > :23:16.lead. WHISTLE It was a long journey here,

:23:17. > :23:20.especially hard work, today with the games, but it's really nice to lift

:23:21. > :23:27.the trophy. Finals weekend brings together players from across the

:23:28. > :23:30.country. For many it means a long journey that gives yourself plenty

:23:31. > :23:37.of time to get in the right frame of mind. We have the Sheffield

:23:38. > :23:42.University higher education guys. I have the two team captains with me.

:23:43. > :23:49.Will, what's your team name and tell me about them bastion yellow we are

:23:50. > :23:55.Crowns FC, named after the memory of our favourite takeaway in Sheffield

:23:56. > :24:01.that shut down. We are Wockey FC FC. We also play women's hockey. We

:24:02. > :24:05.decided to dabble in football. Do you show up wearing gum shields and

:24:06. > :24:10.things to freak people out? That would help us, but sadly not. Not

:24:11. > :24:13.only am I finding out about your team, I also wanted to find out if I

:24:14. > :24:21.could help get you psyched up for The People's Club through music. You

:24:22. > :24:31.guys have suggested some songs. I have it on good authority that Sam

:24:32. > :24:35.Sparro's Black And Gold is a good tune for you. Because you play in

:24:36. > :24:41.black and gold. One of the suggestions that came through from

:24:42. > :24:45.Crowns FC is Stormzy. We have number one fan boy sat at the back. He's

:24:46. > :24:49.inspirational and gets you in the zone. That's what we're hearing. The

:24:50. > :24:53.best suggestion and the only suggestion worth talking about is

:24:54. > :24:58.mine. Because in football, it's important to close down defenders,

:24:59. > :25:03.some might say shut them down. See where I'm going? You've got to shut

:25:04. > :25:11.down the players! I think it's a great choice!

:25:12. > :25:26.With my tracks ringing in their ears, the Sheffield University teams

:25:27. > :25:31.started their people's cup final campaign. Sadly the boys were shut

:25:32. > :25:35.down in the group stages, but the hockey girls did the black and gold

:25:36. > :25:42.crowd making it all the way to the first higher education final. --

:25:43. > :25:47.black and gold proud. Wockey FC held their nerve, with their goalkeeper

:25:48. > :25:59.Fiona small making this great save to secure the victory. Look at us,

:26:00. > :26:06.all in our hockey kit. Wockey FC, what's going on? It's going to be a

:26:07. > :26:11.once-in-a-lifetime experience. I don't think I will ever forget it.

:26:12. > :26:17.We are so excited for the big day. Amazing. This tournament offers

:26:18. > :26:20.teams amazing opportunities both on and off the pitch. It's fair to say

:26:21. > :26:29.I'm pretty jealous of this next one. We are the London elite youth. We

:26:30. > :26:35.have a bus full of players who managed to get the day off school to

:26:36. > :26:39.go to St James' Park to meet some of the U21 players and see the

:26:40. > :26:42.fantastic facilities. They are big role models. Everybody in the team

:26:43. > :26:47.wants to become a professional footballer. It's a one-time

:26:48. > :26:52.opportunity. Even if none of us make it, we can carry it with us, we have

:26:53. > :26:56.trained with England. Initially thinking it would be a two and a

:26:57. > :27:00.half hour journey for five minutes meet and greet and the England U21

:27:01. > :27:07.boys would come past, signs and pictures and be off. To see them

:27:08. > :27:12.exceeded our expectations. Your team against my team.

:27:13. > :27:53.I've really enjoyed today. I have come to meet people I have idolised

:27:54. > :27:55.and looked up to. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Nathaniel Chalobah,

:27:56. > :28:02.great people to be with. I've enjoyed it. It's been a really good

:28:03. > :28:06.day. The overall winners in the boy's category were from Humberside.

:28:07. > :28:13.A crucial penalty stop by the goalkeeper Ronnie helped them to a

:28:14. > :28:21.thrilling 4-3 victory. We were the underdogs. We kept going and saw it

:28:22. > :28:27.through. In the girl's competition, the goal-scoring prowess of

:28:28. > :28:31.midfielder Becky fired her team to victory. Her hat-trick in the final

:28:32. > :28:38.meant the Norfolk side past their People's Cup examination with good

:28:39. > :28:43.grades. I'm doing GCSEs at the moment. It will be such a nice

:28:44. > :28:47.stadium and we will all enjoy it. To watch the highlights all of the

:28:48. > :28:52.finals at the People's Cup, head to the get inspired website. To people,

:28:53. > :28:57.winning the actual FA Cup isn't enough. They want to win the

:28:58. > :29:01.People's Cup as well. Back at your school again. Back at the school

:29:02. > :29:05.where we used to train in the good old days. We used to warm up outside

:29:06. > :29:10.buying doing a two mile run up and down the road. It's changed since I

:29:11. > :29:15.have been here. Just like the women's game. And it has definitely

:29:16. > :29:19.changed for the better. Really good. How did you get involved in

:29:20. > :29:22.football? My dad used to take me to the part in the pram to watch

:29:23. > :29:26.football at the age of about two months. As soon as I was old enough

:29:27. > :29:32.to kick a ball I was in the back garden doing that. What would you

:29:33. > :29:36.say were the male attitudes towards football? It was never looked upon

:29:37. > :29:40.as though it should be a sport females should play. We didn't get

:29:41. > :29:43.the opportunities girls get nowadays to play football. In fact it was

:29:44. > :29:49.discouraged and in my opinion that was very poor. Women's football,

:29:50. > :29:53.still people find it hard to accept because they think it's a joke. I

:29:54. > :29:56.rated very highly otherwise I wouldn't be doing this job with

:29:57. > :30:01.Southampton. My dad eventually introduced me to a women's team.

:30:02. > :30:08.There were no female youth teams in those days. No youth teams?! At the

:30:09. > :30:12.age of 12 I was in at the deep end with women aged 25 and 30. The first

:30:13. > :30:18.time I played I broke two knuckles. It didn't discourage me.

:30:19. > :30:26.But the dream was there because you got to play in a women's FA Cup

:30:27. > :30:30.final. I did. 1981. Yeah, a long time ago. We played against St

:30:31. > :30:34.Helens at the rugby club. I found something special for us to watch.

:30:35. > :30:38.Really? We will see. Footage from the final. Oh, wow!

:30:39. > :30:43.Yeah. It was Southampton's 10th appearance

:30:44. > :30:48.in the last 11 finals. Our leading goal scorer, Pat. That's a great

:30:49. > :30:54.finish. It is, yeah. A very good player. Nothing to do with me! There

:30:55. > :31:00.we are with the Cup. There is me! That one, yeah. All that hair! You

:31:01. > :31:04.are holding the trophy. Yeah, haven't seen that probably since

:31:05. > :31:08.1981, to be honest. What are the memories that you remember from that

:31:09. > :31:11.day? I think walking out was the first memory that I can recall. We

:31:12. > :31:16.walked out to 3,000 people which was unheard of for us. We used to get 20

:31:17. > :31:20.or 30 at a game of football. We had a lot of people on our side. It was

:31:21. > :31:26.a memory that will live with me forever.

:31:27. > :31:32.It was a great day for us, we got through the regional finals, we were

:31:33. > :31:35.unfortunate to get knocked out in the semifinal which is

:31:36. > :31:38.disappointing, 1-0. We got over it and said next year we are all going

:31:39. > :31:41.to do it again. We loved the experience and we loved the day up

:31:42. > :31:46.there. You can't wait for next year? We can't. We are in training already

:31:47. > :31:52.now. When I retire is there a place for me on the team? Yes. Absolutely,

:31:53. > :31:55.yes. I will hold you to it. You will be first on the team sheet, don't

:31:56. > :32:03.tell the rest of the girls that one. The secret is safe with me!

:32:04. > :32:09.Earlier, Trevor Sinclair watched on as Wokingham reached the walking

:32:10. > :32:20.final. Could the boys in blue land the trophy? A few stiff limbs, I

:32:21. > :32:25.think. Massive reward, though. A great save.

:32:26. > :32:41.A cynical foul there. Ready to pull the trigger.

:32:42. > :32:46.Oh! Blue card. Sin-bin. He is off. Two minutes that is. Can they make

:32:47. > :32:59.that extra player pay now? Oh, back in the game!

:33:00. > :33:05.Oh, what a goal! 2-1 up. Looks like it could be in.

:33:06. > :33:16.Oh, that's got to be the winner. 3-1 Wokingham. There it is. Well done

:33:17. > :33:23.boys. Well done. What's your taking on the walking football phenomenon?

:33:24. > :33:28.To stop playing for years and you can still work on the game and enjoy

:33:29. > :33:32.it. A word on the people's Cup? Brilliant. Millions of people play

:33:33. > :33:33.football and this is for them, it gives everyone the opportunity to

:33:34. > :33:50.lift the trophy at Wembley. Come on!

:33:51. > :33:55.So that is it. The FA People's cup finals are over. The 16 champions

:33:56. > :34:00.have all been crowned and in a few short hours the captains will be

:34:01. > :34:03.walking out on to the pitch during half-time at the FA Cup final to

:34:04. > :34:04.collect their trophy. What an epic prize. We will see you again next

:34:05. > :34:26.year. To be part of a group it's massive

:34:27. > :34:30.for these guys and I am sure we will have sa fantastic day at Wembley. We

:34:31. > :34:33.haven't been together long, I am proud of them. Bringing back a

:34:34. > :34:37.trophy, everyone will be proud of us. Don't know what to say, I am

:34:38. > :34:53.really happy. It's unbelievable. It's a dream.

:34:54. > :34:57.It's one of the greatest sporting arenas in the world and we are going

:34:58. > :35:08.to lift a trophy there! Welcome back to the FA Cup Show.

:35:09. > :35:12.Very hot here at Wembley today! And look who is here, some of the

:35:13. > :35:17.finalists from the People's Cup. Graham, what was it like, what

:35:18. > :35:22.experience was it? Walking football for me. Obviously, a damaging

:35:23. > :35:26.experience, but one that I gratefully appreciated. It enabled

:35:27. > :35:31.me to play football again, over 50, at a time when I thought football

:35:32. > :35:37.was finished Fosh me. -- for me. Superb experience. It looks bad, how

:35:38. > :35:42.painful? This was a detached tendon in the semifinal. Penalty shoot-out.

:35:43. > :35:47.I didn't know at the time. Played the final, in a lot of pain, but at

:35:48. > :35:51.the end of the day the adrenalin kicks in, you know, you play on

:35:52. > :35:55.until the final whistle and we won. Really pleased. Amazing. Paul is fit

:35:56. > :35:59.and well, you are looking very fit today. How much are you looking

:36:00. > :36:02.forward to the Cup final? Yeah, really looking forward to it. I

:36:03. > :36:06.don't really support the teams playing but I am sure it will be a

:36:07. > :36:11.good game. What's your team? Liverpool. Relieved to be in the

:36:12. > :36:16.Champions League, I tell you. But the experience, it must have been

:36:17. > :36:21.amazing. Amazing. It's a brilliant effort from the team. What a

:36:22. > :36:26.fantastic thing to come here and to have our name up on the screen there

:36:27. > :36:29.was amazing. I have been inside Wembley and I can see your name on

:36:30. > :36:32.the screen there. Rebecca, it must have been a wonderful experience,

:36:33. > :36:35.when you started in the tournament did you expect to get that far?

:36:36. > :36:38.Absolutely not. We have never played in a football tournament before. We

:36:39. > :36:43.are hockey players. We thought we would give it a go, why not. We kept

:36:44. > :36:47.surprising ourselves getting through rounds and winning the final on

:36:48. > :36:50.penalties was unbelievable. After every round did you think this is

:36:51. > :36:55.where it ends, we are not going to get to the final and win it? Yeah,

:36:56. > :36:59.we thought we would be exposed at some point, the fact we can't play

:37:00. > :37:04.much football but incredibly we won. It's a dream come true to be here

:37:05. > :37:08.today. Who are you cheering for, who is your team? I support Manchester

:37:09. > :37:13.United but I will be supporting Arsenal today. Dressed in red. The

:37:14. > :37:16.only United fan I have ever met supporting Arsenal. Thank you very

:37:17. > :37:23.much. Well done, Rebecca: Jason, magic tournament for you. Yeah, it

:37:24. > :37:28.was fantastic. Just seeing everyone meeting people with another team,

:37:29. > :37:34.what a great response and reaction from everyone. It was overwhelming

:37:35. > :37:38.how passionate everyone was. And respectful as well, even when we

:37:39. > :37:43.won, the other teams were just overwhelmingly friendly. It was

:37:44. > :37:47.fantastic. The People's Cup offered a wide area for everyone to get

:37:48. > :37:51.involved in football, rather than just one section. It's for everyone.

:37:52. > :37:55.If you want to be involved in the People's Cup or have an opportunity

:37:56. > :37:58.to come today to the final, then sign up for next year and get

:37:59. > :38:02.involved. It's fantastic. Yeah. We have Rebecca there, who is a United

:38:03. > :38:06.fan supporting Arsenal, I think you have an Arsenal shirt on. I have.

:38:07. > :38:10.Yeah. No doubting his team. Been a fan all your life? Yeah, I love

:38:11. > :38:16.Arsenal, used to live up here for a bit, as well. Used to see Charlie

:38:17. > :38:21.George every day, I am hoping today they're going to not let me down.

:38:22. > :38:30.It's a final, if it was a league game I would be wobbly-legged. Yeah,

:38:31. > :38:36.we have a chance. Hopefully they can turn up today. Do you want Arsene

:38:37. > :38:41.Wenger to stay? I want the club to be run correctly and I think that's

:38:42. > :38:46.the board's job to cement that and he took a lot of abuse over the

:38:47. > :38:53.season. The blame lies with the board at the end of the day. He has

:38:54. > :38:57.done a fantastic job for us. Good luck to him and the team today.

:38:58. > :38:59.Let's hope we get the result we want. Thank you all very much

:39:00. > :39:04.indeed. You have been absolutely brilliant. Thank you very much. Well

:39:05. > :39:07.done. Congratulations for the People's's Cup. Don't forget the

:39:08. > :39:11.goal of the Cup competition is under way. We want to you choose your

:39:12. > :39:19.favourite goal from this year's FA Cup. Go online and our pundits will

:39:20. > :39:22.choose the winner later. It's also available via the sport website.

:39:23. > :39:28.Plenty more to come this afternoon here on the FA Cup Show.

:39:29. > :39:31.After more than 20 years, will Arsene Wenger bid farewell to

:39:32. > :39:37.Arsenal after today? And it will make you laugh or

:39:38. > :39:46.possibly cry. We look at the history of the football joke. Remember the

:39:47. > :39:51.whole match live coming your way from 4. 15pm. Right now the highs

:39:52. > :39:57.and lows of the 736 teams becoming two in this year's FA Cup. But with

:39:58. > :40:14.the added bonus of music. Here is The Road to Wembley.

:40:15. > :40:28.We all know where the road leads. History, glory, friendly. Wembley.

:40:29. > :40:37.There is no blueprint for this, you can't plan for twists and turns.

:40:38. > :40:47.Routes come with diversions. Past the floodlights. Stone cold winter

:40:48. > :40:53.nights. The call to walk on WembleyWay starts in many places.

:40:54. > :41:01.Fans in stands. And managers in dugouts. Chatter begins back in the

:41:02. > :41:08.summer. All across the country this might be the one.

:41:09. > :41:14.After all, we are overdue a Cup run. But imagine just to reach the start

:41:15. > :41:18.line, seems so normal now. Premier League teams get to start at

:41:19. > :41:21.half-way. Those lower down the ladder had to battle to get to the

:41:22. > :41:26.first round proper. Many hurdles have been faced to get

:41:27. > :41:30.to this destination, so welcome, welcome to your big day.

:41:31. > :41:36.A reward for the regulars to celebrate and revel in the glory.

:41:37. > :41:40.Some prime time in the highlights on Match of the Day. It's also a

:41:41. > :41:45.potential place in the headlines for a top flight team whose nightmare is

:41:46. > :41:54.the non-league dream. And all captured on the big screen.

:41:55. > :41:57.Not everyone enjoys round one. This is where the professionals wait

:41:58. > :42:03.nervously. They know this is treacherous ground

:42:04. > :42:10.because the slips and the trips will be caught on camera. It's not always

:42:11. > :42:21.a route on the night. Just ask Swindon Town. For many minnows it is

:42:22. > :42:32.an end. But also west field, Stamford. Many memories to be

:42:33. > :42:36.banked. : Rumour has it he got changed into his kit in the car on

:42:37. > :42:41.the way down before scoring a hat-trick. Six floors down in

:42:42. > :42:47.English football. And through to round two. The third round giant

:42:48. > :42:51.stand on the horizon. Something didn't add up for Ashton.

:42:52. > :42:55.3-0 up with ten minutes to play against Wimbledon. Still more than

:42:56. > :43:01.enough time for Wimbledon to score four more.

:43:02. > :43:06.This year we have been reminded of some of the magic the Cup provides.

:43:07. > :43:15.Remember Sutton in 89. They conquered Coventry. I guess it's

:43:16. > :43:19.time to update some upsets. Non-league Lincoln banished Oldham

:43:20. > :43:23.Athletic who sit two divisions higher and Lincoln make a habit out

:43:24. > :43:31.of punching above their weight. Remember the names. Remember the

:43:32. > :43:39.faces. The road to Wembley awaits. This is where the dreams are

:43:40. > :43:43.orchestrated. Christmas new year. Third round of

:43:44. > :43:46.the Cup. Dates carved into the calendar. For some, it's a love-hate

:43:47. > :44:04.relationship. # You think you know who I am

:44:05. > :44:12.# But you don't have a clue # You ain't nothing but a stranger

:44:13. > :44:17.#... We are seeing lots of clubs playing weakened teams. Nine

:44:18. > :44:22.changes. Every team is making changes. Why would they not go for

:44:23. > :44:29.it? Fans want to win trophies. # Your words may hurt for a while

:44:30. > :44:34.# But after a while they can only make me stronger

:44:35. > :44:42.# And I do the best that I can # But you keep bringing me down

:44:43. > :44:49.# Don't you know I am only human # And I never said that I was

:44:50. > :44:56.perfect... It's an incredible result in FA Cup history! # Everything that

:44:57. > :45:08.you say and anything that you do... Liverpool have survived a bit

:45:09. > :45:18.of a scare. # Liverpool crash out of the FA Cup at the 4th round stage. #

:45:19. > :45:24.No matter, no matter how hard I try # I know in your eyes will never be

:45:25. > :45:33.good enough #

:45:34. > :45:40.Leicester and Derby must do it all again. We have to make changes, I

:45:41. > :45:43.have people who can't make three games a week. If it was three

:45:44. > :45:48.Championship games in a week and they were going for promotion, would

:45:49. > :45:54.he play that side? I don't think he will.

:45:55. > :46:01.# Anything you say and anything you do

:46:02. > :46:02.# You try to hurt me. What a goal. Leicester City into the fifth round

:46:03. > :46:17.of the FA Cup. Can he wrap it up? He shoots and

:46:18. > :46:21.scores! When you performed so badly, you are potentially going to make

:46:22. > :46:25.changes. # I run a little faster

:46:26. > :46:34.# Scream a little louder. Does the FA Cup get the respect it deserves?

:46:35. > :46:41.Take the competition seriously. # I run a little faster

:46:42. > :46:51.# Scream a little louder. It's a winner forward Tom Wanderers. -- for

:46:52. > :46:53.Wycombe Wanderers. The drama of the afternoon hasn't ended. Tottenham

:46:54. > :47:13.have rescued it. Home doesn't go stumbling on. What an FA

:47:14. > :47:18.Cup tie. # I use it as motivation. What if

:47:19. > :47:24.the relationship is over. What if were living on memories. The club

:47:25. > :47:26.isn't everything is absent of memories. Like Stanley Matthews

:47:27. > :47:32.dashing down the wing. My grandad saw him in the flesh and I remember

:47:33. > :47:36.him telling me how it seemed Stanley Matthews had the ball tied to his

:47:37. > :47:43.shoestrings, the closest control. As he spoke it, I saw it. With the

:47:44. > :47:48.clearest vision. His memory of what will now be a grainy picture given

:47:49. > :47:55.to me in HD images. But Misty Romance can't compete with football

:47:56. > :47:59.finance. Mid-table safety ain't sexy, but it pays. The excuses are

:48:00. > :48:11.there. Always there, they'll never change. From Wednesday's league

:48:12. > :48:14.games' points at stake, and so the cup becomes a drain instead of a

:48:15. > :48:21.dream. What's all this about putting out a weakened team? See their cup,

:48:22. > :48:27.it will always have an aroma of glory. That's why the fans remember

:48:28. > :48:37.Ronnie Radford's rocket, Steven Gerrard's stunner and Ricky Villa's

:48:38. > :48:43.run. We still remember those white suits. There is no cup for reaching

:48:44. > :48:48.the top four. And the glory is ever so short. Nobody ever remembers the

:48:49. > :48:56.years you were Champions League contenders, but the contentment of

:48:57. > :48:59.cup glory is endless. Note open top bus parade for reaching the Europa

:49:00. > :49:04.League, no T-shirt for beating the drop. What we need now are new

:49:05. > :49:07.memories, new twists, hope that the cup spirit still persists. A

:49:08. > :49:13.familiar melody set to a modern beat. And the greatest stories come

:49:14. > :49:19.from unfamiliar tellers in unfamiliar places. And once upon a

:49:20. > :49:20.time at Gander Green Lane, there was a little team who didn't know when

:49:21. > :49:37.to stop. # Just say the word, we'll take on

:49:38. > :49:40.the world. If football still has a place for dreamers, then Gander

:49:41. > :49:53.Green Lane is that place. # I can see the pain in your eyes.

:49:54. > :50:03.Believe me, and I have tried. We are going to have last gasp drama at

:50:04. > :50:11.Gander Green Lane. And Roarie Deacon scores for Sutton United! It's

:50:12. > :50:14.another historic day in the life of Sutton United football club. It will

:50:15. > :50:19.be a place in the third round of the FA Cup.

:50:20. > :50:33.# And just say the word # We'll take on the world. The

:50:34. > :50:39.winning goal! The victory is sealed for Sutton United.

:50:40. > :50:44.# Nobody knows you the way that I know you

:50:45. > :50:48.# Look in my eyes, I will never desert you

:50:49. > :50:59.# Just say the word, we'll take on the world.

:51:00. > :51:05.# And it's the fight, the fight of our lives. It's a really good save.

:51:06. > :51:14.Deacon hit that really well. Might be in here. Good save again. Sutton

:51:15. > :51:19.United asking all the questions. The goalkeeper has come. Sutton claim a

:51:20. > :51:22.penalty, and they've got it. # Never forget me, we're built to

:51:23. > :51:28.last # Out of the shadows and into my

:51:29. > :51:35.life. Jamie Collins of National League Sutton. Brilliantly

:51:36. > :51:44.dispatched by the skipper. They've done it again. Sutton United are

:51:45. > :51:50.into the last 16, further than they've ever been, eclipsing even

:51:51. > :51:54.1989. Gander Green Lane goes mad. # Nobody knows you the way that I

:51:55. > :52:00.know you # Look in my eyes, I'll never desert

:52:01. > :52:07.you. Tonight the Arsenal players will certainly not be used to the

:52:08. > :52:13.surroundings. This is a bit different, it's like a throwback.

:52:14. > :52:18.It's the David and Goliath thing. It's gone all the way in. Lucas puts

:52:19. > :52:28.Arsenal in front. # We'll fight... They are still in

:52:29. > :52:33.this game. Get another chance in the second half. They've done well. 100

:52:34. > :52:41.up for Theo Walcott in Arsenal red and white. Up goes Collins. Deacon

:52:42. > :52:50.has smashed the bar. Nearly broke the bar. Sutton's adventure has come

:52:51. > :52:52.to an end. Our will go through, but Sutton will keep the memory.

:52:53. > :53:03.# Take on the world. Eventually the world kicked back.

:53:04. > :53:12.But there is one whose faith took them further. There was a time when

:53:13. > :53:20.a world looked up to Lincoln. Its cathedral was the peak, the pinnacle

:53:21. > :53:24.of human existence. Its football team sits down the hill, never

:53:25. > :53:30.ventured out of the valleys for long. But one man had led them

:53:31. > :53:36.higher. The team aspired to reach the heights they hadn't seen since

:53:37. > :53:45.back in the day. A moment's silence... For the third round

:53:46. > :53:55.replay against Ipswich Town, for the manager Graham Taylor, passed away.

:53:56. > :54:01.Before the game, a tribute. How well suited for Lincoln to reach the

:54:02. > :54:07.fourth round now. A stage the team hadn't seen since Taylor was leading

:54:08. > :54:17.the way. The Cowley brothers, proved a good fit. Lincoln City are

:54:18. > :54:27.through! In the dying seconds, they looked out. The FA Cup 1978 winners.

:54:28. > :54:34.-- they have knocked out the FA Cup 1978 winners. A win was tailor-made.

:54:35. > :54:40.Or maybe even made for Taylor, little more than ten days later,

:54:41. > :54:44.Lincoln faced Brighton. The Seagulls flying high and headed for the

:54:45. > :54:47.Premier division. No contest for sure. The Seagulls forecast a flight

:54:48. > :54:53.through clear skies but never foresaw the on coming onslaught.

:54:54. > :54:58.It's all over for Brighton. They've only gone and done it. Lincoln City

:54:59. > :55:04.boss Mike FA Cup adventure continues. On a special, special day

:55:05. > :55:11.at Sincil Bank. The win meant the team would reach the last 16 for the

:55:12. > :55:15.first time in 115 years. You see, the cup is a place for dream and

:55:16. > :55:19.little Lincoln were dreaming big. The Imps had reached the 89th minute

:55:20. > :55:30.against Burnley and were firmly in the mix. Headed back across goal.

:55:31. > :55:34.And Lincoln City of non-league football, the National League, take

:55:35. > :55:43.the lead at Premier League Burnley. Tom Heaton can't it. Let's make

:55:44. > :55:49.sure! It's definitely over! The cup's soul, connected with modern

:55:50. > :55:56.technology. The Lincoln bench is screaming to the referee. They want

:55:57. > :56:00.the whistle. Lincoln have made history. This is one of the great

:56:01. > :56:06.shocks of the competition. It's up there with Hereford, Wrexham against

:56:07. > :56:11.Arsenal, this is Lincoln City, beating Burnley of the Premier

:56:12. > :56:18.League. There FA Cup journey continues. A non-league team,

:56:19. > :56:25.quarterfinalists for the first time in over a century. This was fantasy.

:56:26. > :56:34.The stuff of dreams. Look who's left in the draw. Owen... Number four.

:56:35. > :56:42.Sutton United or Arsenal. Number one. Lincoln City. A draw would see

:56:43. > :56:47.Lincoln pitted against Arsenal's artillery. And once again, Lincoln

:56:48. > :56:55.were cathedral tall. The world looking up to Lincoln once more.

:56:56. > :57:01.We have changed history. There's a reason why no non-league team in the

:57:02. > :57:05.last hundred years has been able to reach the last eight of the FA Cup.

:57:06. > :57:10.The fact they have should make them mighty proud. We are winners. We

:57:11. > :57:14.don't like losing. Of course we are disappointed that we lost, but while

:57:15. > :57:19.we are not celebrating a loss, we are celebrating the journey that

:57:20. > :57:21.we've had. We are able to draw breath, and I think we'll be pretty

:57:22. > :57:37.proud of what we achieved. Of course, they knew it couldn't

:57:38. > :57:44.last. Romance would give way to finance. Underdogs against

:57:45. > :57:49.overlords, the big beasts began hunting. Road to Wembley, here we

:57:50. > :58:14.come. # FA Cup final, no friendly.

:58:15. > :58:16.# Sutton didn't know what was happening

:58:17. > :58:23.# Wayne Shaw eight the pie, had to sack him

:58:24. > :58:28.# Tottenham went with Wycombe. # Another hat-trick, Fulham were the

:58:29. > :58:41.victim. The rigged Millwall came to the Lane

:58:42. > :58:48.# Son Heung-min was listening # FA Cup final, not a friendly

:58:49. > :58:53.# Who will win the road to Wembley? # West Ham getting hammered by City.

:58:54. > :59:00.# Chelsea got through no biggie # After Aguero went to the Teesside

:59:01. > :59:13.# Arsenal faced City. # Ander Herrera set of harshly

:59:14. > :59:17.# Antonio Conte and Jose's Barney # FA Cup final, no friendly

:59:18. > :59:28.# Who's going to win the road to Wembley?

:59:29. > :59:34.# FA Cup final, not a friendly # Who's going to win the road to

:59:35. > :59:40.Wembley? The Kings were gone. The throne was vacant. And then there

:59:41. > :59:48.were four, four giants for Wembley. The first two at Wembley Way were

:59:49. > :59:50.the top two, the Premier League elite, Chelsea and Tottenham, a

:59:51. > :59:56.rivalry forged in geography and moulded in history. This was a semi

:59:57. > :00:16.where we all look for a sign. A tale of two teams seeking their fortune.

:00:17. > :00:24.# Heartache surrounds me # I don't know how you still are

:00:25. > :00:28.standing... Big admissions. What do you make of that? It's a massive

:00:29. > :00:30.surprise. As a Chelsea man I am probably sitting here this morning

:00:31. > :00:54.thinking how do we win this game? Pedro now. Brought down. Will it be

:00:55. > :01:10.a Willian curler or a Luiz dipper? Chelsea's the lead!

:01:11. > :01:16.# If you search... It's in the net! Harry Kane and Spurs are level.

:01:17. > :01:23.They'ves inventive improvisation at its very best.

:01:24. > :01:40.It's a great ball in and headed just wide by Dier.

:01:41. > :01:50.The referee has given it. Willian. To put Chelsea in front. And he

:01:51. > :02:10.does! # If you search you destroy...

:02:11. > :02:20.Luiz has handled that outside the penalty area. Got away with one.

:02:21. > :02:30.# Now he's gone. # I used to feel the one you look

:02:31. > :02:35.# I used to see him up above # Now he's gone.

:02:36. > :02:41.That's a delightful ball! What a great goal! Alli scores it but

:02:42. > :02:48.Christiansen makes it with one of the assists of the season. Brilliant

:02:49. > :02:52.equaliser! It's dangerous, it's Hazard, it's

:02:53. > :03:02.in! For the third time in this semifinal they're in front. Can

:03:03. > :03:11.Tottenham do it again? Driven. Brilliant goal! Chelsea are

:03:12. > :03:16.within touching distance of the FA Cup final itself.

:03:17. > :03:28.If Spurs are going to do something incredible this has to go in. It's

:03:29. > :03:36.Harry Kane. Oh, Courtois. Back spin. It has not been their day. Chelsea

:03:37. > :03:42.are into the 2017 FA Cup final. Their double is still on. You don't

:03:43. > :03:51.win games having possession. Spurs have dominated that game.

:03:52. > :03:58.Possession-wise. Fate was coloured, Chelsea blue,

:03:59. > :04:03.again. But what a semi too. This was the game of second chances.

:04:04. > :04:06.The league's gone but the Cup's on. Were Manchester City at the birth of

:04:07. > :04:11.a new era? Were Arsenal at the death of an old one? When you get this far

:04:12. > :04:26.you have to trust. Now is not the time for doubt.

:04:27. > :04:36.# I walk through hell and through the storms

:04:37. > :04:40.# I know too well... It's part two of the big hitting Wembley weekend.

:04:41. > :04:43.It's exactly how a final should be. Both clubs and their bosses really

:04:44. > :05:00.need this trophy. # I've been praying for a... It's

:05:01. > :05:17.tipped over the top by Cech. Ozil is pulled to the floor by

:05:18. > :05:24.Kompany. The lines have been drawn. Aquero down. We are waiting for a

:05:25. > :05:32.game to break out. # I am overdue a little bit of

:05:33. > :05:40.luck... The flag is up. Arsenal got away with one there. It's a

:05:41. > :05:55.desperate hold. # I'm been praying... Aquero scores!

:05:56. > :06:01.Manchester City's magnificent number 10, the breakthrough goal. What a

:06:02. > :06:18.time we have got on now. It has sprung to life. Arsenal are back in

:06:19. > :06:22.it, Monreal buried that. # I am in the deep end

:06:23. > :06:31.# I won't be beaten until I find what I have been praying for.

:06:32. > :06:35.Extra time at Wembley Stadium. Sanchez has scored! Listen to the

:06:36. > :06:39.roar around Wembley now. A smile creeps across the face of Arsene

:06:40. > :06:54.Wenger. The great survivor of the Premier

:06:55. > :07:05.League era. Arsenal are into the FA Cup final.

:07:06. > :07:12.# Seasons change. He has the chance to win the FA Cup for an outright

:07:13. > :07:15.record 7th time. Faith can't be renewed with a single game.

:07:16. > :07:20.Questions haven't been answered. But Arsenal still had something to hope

:07:21. > :07:24.for. To the final steps of football's

:07:25. > :07:30.most famous road. All the ups and downs are behind you

:07:31. > :07:38.now. It's one clash left between two of football's biggest giants. London

:07:39. > :07:41.derby, as well. Chelsea once again champions.

:07:42. > :07:45.Arsenal, everything has been called into question. The players, the

:07:46. > :07:48.board and especially the manager. But it's an argument that won't be

:07:49. > :07:52.settled in an afternoon. For the sake of red versus blue we can put

:07:53. > :08:00.it to one side for a few hours, at least. It's always been the power of

:08:01. > :08:06.the Cup. You forget, to dream, to get lost in the history and the

:08:07. > :08:12.memories. The anticipation. See these steps are the ones that every

:08:13. > :08:23.fan in the country dreams of taking. So look up. You made it.

:08:24. > :08:41.Wembley Way. The last junction on the road to Wembley.

:08:42. > :09:05.Welcome back to Wembley. We have moved to the Arsenal fan park.

:09:06. > :09:08.That's the arena where Professor Brian Cox was doing clever stuff

:09:09. > :09:11.last night. He is very intelligent. Much more intelligent than the BBC

:09:12. > :09:16.crew we have here today. But he can't tell you what is coming up. I

:09:17. > :09:20.can. Can Arsene Wenger add another trophy

:09:21. > :09:24.to the cabinet? We have an exclusive interview very shortly.

:09:25. > :09:32.Football and comedy have gone hand in hand down the years. We guide you

:09:33. > :09:43.through it. To me it's nothing worse than a fake fan! Well, things to do.

:09:44. > :09:49.Nice to have met you. And then Frank Lampard, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer

:09:50. > :09:53.join Gary for the FA Cup final live and uninterpreted -- uninterrupted

:09:54. > :09:56.here on BBC One. We are about to meet some big Arsenal fans. None

:09:57. > :10:01.bigger than Alex Scott. Good afternoon to you. How excited are

:10:02. > :10:05.you? I have to say you look very nice in your suit. I have to put a

:10:06. > :10:11.dress on and get ready. This is the warmest suit I have ever worn. It's

:10:12. > :10:15.nice. How exciting is it for you as an Arsenal fan? So exciting.

:10:16. > :10:17.Obviously the season's not gone to plan but this is a one-off game,

:10:18. > :10:22.anything can happen. Forget about that and just perform today. Alex,

:10:23. > :10:29.tell viewers how many FA Cup titles have you won? I think it's eight.

:10:30. > :10:32.Just the eight! As a player, I will count them when I stop. I am still

:10:33. > :10:38.playing, I don't count the trophies. What is it like when you walk out on

:10:39. > :10:41.to that hallowed turf. It's magical, you have to take it all in, but

:10:42. > :10:45.don't let it affect your performance. I like to stay calm.

:10:46. > :10:48.You have done the hard work and got here, it's about going out there and

:10:49. > :10:55.performing and putting on a show for the fans. You have taken over the

:10:56. > :11:01.BBC Instagram channels. Lots of fun, I am in the fan park and will talk

:11:02. > :11:06.to people. 107 steps, did you know that? I didn't! Went into the

:11:07. > :11:09.Arsenal dressing room to see what it's like, follow all the social

:11:10. > :11:13.media accounts and you can see behind the scenes stuff. Do you

:11:14. > :11:17.fancy Arsenal to win today, Chelsea are the favourites? . We had the Cup

:11:18. > :11:20.final last year, the women's game and Chelsea came in as favourites

:11:21. > :11:24.but one-off game, anything can happen. You can't write Chelsea off,

:11:25. > :11:28.the form, the confidence, the camaraderie within the team. But

:11:29. > :11:34.it's about Arsenal performing and turning up. Wonderful. I will let

:11:35. > :11:38.you get back to Facebook and Twitter and whatever. Chris and Joe are

:11:39. > :11:39.here. Hello. It's a big day for you young man, this is your first FA Cup

:11:40. > :11:47.final. How are you Amazing. Didn't think I would be

:11:48. > :11:50.able to do it, it's a great feeling. You were singing I heard this

:11:51. > :11:56.morning in the shower, is this true? Yeah. I was really excited. Over and

:11:57. > :12:00.over. It was your dad, he told me! What a great dad you are. What an

:12:01. > :12:06.amazing dad getting a ticket for your lad. Well, I managed to get one

:12:07. > :12:10.ticket for Villa a couple of years ago and we didn't get two tickets

:12:11. > :12:13.and I felt bad. This year when we got the two I thought about, you

:12:14. > :12:21.know, not bringing him to wind him up! No, I am delighted for him, he

:12:22. > :12:26.makes me look like I am not a fan. He is obsessed. I had to bring him

:12:27. > :12:30.and he has been excited. You are season ticket holders. What is your

:12:31. > :12:37.assessment on the season? I think it's gone... Terribly! Could have

:12:38. > :12:45.gone better. That's an understatement. Well done. For you,

:12:46. > :12:49.the future, with Arsene Wenger? I will never ever call for his head.

:12:50. > :12:55.He has given me some wonderful times in my life. Unbeaten sides and sort

:12:56. > :12:58.of the things we have won, but I think he shouldn't renew his

:12:59. > :13:03.contract. It's probably time for him to move on. How is it going to go

:13:04. > :13:08.today, Chris? Trying to be as confident as I can I think we might

:13:09. > :13:12.sneak it 2-1. What about you, Joe? 2-1 to Arsenal. Alex, I didn't get a

:13:13. > :13:17.prediction from you? Obviously I am going to stick with the boys. I am

:13:18. > :13:22.Arsenal through and through. You are working for the BBC today, you are

:13:23. > :13:26.supposed to be impartial! Arsenal 1-0 win. Good lad, thank you very

:13:27. > :13:31.much. Well done dad for getting him his ticket. Alex have a great day.

:13:32. > :13:34.Thank you very much. As the boys mentioned there, Arsene Wenger will

:13:35. > :13:35.he stay or go? Jonathan Pearce has been sitting down with the man they

:13:36. > :13:56.call The Professor. I am grateful that I have worked for

:13:57. > :14:02.such a long time in a country with a passion and emotions are so high. I

:14:03. > :14:11.rate myself as very lucky to have the privilege to know that in my

:14:12. > :14:17.life. I believe that England is a country with heart and I have huge

:14:18. > :14:22.respect for that. I just want to be remembered to have given some

:14:23. > :14:27.pleasure, great moments to people who love my club. You don't mind

:14:28. > :14:40.criticism, the lack of respect in some stages has been for me a

:14:41. > :14:43.disgrace. Whenever you move away from the English game, what will be

:14:44. > :14:49.the thing you have given to the English game, what has England given

:14:50. > :14:53.to you? I would say I will have a lot of respect for the passion in

:14:54. > :14:58.this country, for the passion that people have for my club, for

:14:59. > :15:06.example. I believe that today Arsenal is a respected club all over

:15:07. > :15:10.the world. The one thing I hate to say, the behaviour of some people

:15:11. > :15:15.during the season, that hurts me most because behind the work and the

:15:16. > :15:21.respect for this club are the values that this club respected and the

:15:22. > :15:25.image the club has given in recent weeks is absolutely unacceptable

:15:26. > :15:29.because it tarnishes the impeccable image that the club has all over the

:15:30. > :15:34.world. What are your earliest memories of

:15:35. > :15:39.the FA Cup final, did you watch it? I watched it, it was the only game

:15:40. > :15:45.we could get at the time on television. Of course there was no

:15:46. > :15:50.colour. Small television. We had to bring 100 francs to the school to

:15:51. > :15:55.have the right to watch the game. It's good memories because it shows

:15:56. > :15:57.at the time it was not as easy to watch football so young. I don't

:15:58. > :16:44.remember, I think I saw West Ham. Is there any chances could be your

:16:45. > :16:49.last match, cup final? I'll... It will not be my last match anyway

:16:50. > :16:53.because I will stay in football. At this club? I don't know. I always

:16:54. > :16:59.loved English football and the English atmosphere. I remember when

:17:00. > :17:05.I think I was a very young coach, I came to watch a game, Manchester

:17:06. > :17:09.against Liverpool, and you could see, that's where football has been

:17:10. > :17:12.created and you could feel the intensity and passion for the game.

:17:13. > :17:17.I always thought that if I had a chance to want a work here, I would

:17:18. > :17:22.do it. Arsenal have sacked their manager Bruce Rioch. The sacking has

:17:23. > :17:24.shocked the football world. The club say they have identified their

:17:25. > :17:30.replacement but they will not name him yet. Walking down the street and

:17:31. > :17:36.outside the ground, some Arsenal supporters might not recognise you.

:17:37. > :17:41.I think I accept this idea very well. It's for me to prove I have

:17:42. > :17:47.qualities. If I do well here, people will recognise me. Where was he

:17:48. > :17:56.born? France, I suppose. Germany, I think. He's Swedish, isn't he? When

:17:57. > :17:59.we first met him, he looked like a schoolteacher. That's not a nasty

:18:00. > :18:05.thing. He looked like my geography teacher. My main priority is to

:18:06. > :18:10.bring success to the team and to satisfy all the people who love

:18:11. > :18:15.Arsenal. When you came, what state was the club in? As you know well,

:18:16. > :18:19.Jonathan, football has changed in the last 20 years and we have

:18:20. > :18:23.changed as well. It's a total revolution in quality of football

:18:24. > :18:29.and culture. There was a drinking culture at the club, let's be clear

:18:30. > :18:33.about it. The older boys, if you ask Tony Adams, Martin Keown and David

:18:34. > :18:37.Seaman, he has prolonged their careers by the fact they realise

:18:38. > :18:44.they now have to look after their bodies. There was a fear at the

:18:45. > :18:48.start when you came in, we thought, do nice guys win things? We have

:18:49. > :18:54.this placid and humorous exterior that is great to be around, but he

:18:55. > :18:58.has this slightly Machiavellian streak inside him, a raging bull

:18:59. > :19:02.inside Arsene Wenger, I think. I remember people said that a foreign

:19:03. > :19:08.coach can't be successful in England. People were sceptical, this

:19:09. > :19:13.attitude. Of course, I wanted to show I could be successful and have

:19:14. > :19:18.an impact. I already had good experience because I had managed ten

:19:19. > :19:23.years in France and two years in Japan. 12 years at the top level. I

:19:24. > :19:32.was coming to a club that wanted to build. It was a very exciting

:19:33. > :19:41.period, in fact. Tony Adams! What a finish, what a way to clinch the

:19:42. > :19:44.championship. How special was that first cup final? Completing the

:19:45. > :19:49.double? It was at the old Wembley and that makes a big difference. I

:19:50. > :19:56.have seen the first cup finals at the old Wembley. For me, that was a

:19:57. > :20:03.dream. To walk out there at Wembley, with the tradition, walking your

:20:04. > :20:08.team out, it's something exceptional. The first time you do

:20:09. > :20:16.that, it's really moving. Nicolas Anelka. The flag stays down. Nicolas

:20:17. > :20:23.Anelka! Arsenal at 2-0. Will that clinch the double? I think Arsene

:20:24. > :20:27.Wenger might have surprised himself by winning both fans doing the

:20:28. > :20:30.double in his first season in English football. Cynics at the

:20:31. > :20:34.start of the season, including myself, were asking questions about

:20:35. > :20:38.too many foreigners in the side and the French coach himself. We didn't

:20:39. > :20:48.know who he was. Those questions have been accidents that way.

:20:49. > :20:55.Nicolas Anelka scored that day. Thierry Henry, Robert Pires. You

:20:56. > :21:01.were globalising Arsenal. Was that always in the plan? We always felt

:21:02. > :21:05.if a player was good enough and had a good mentality, why not give him a

:21:06. > :21:09.chance. When you are a young boy, you dream to become a star. You

:21:10. > :21:14.don't look at your passport, you just hope that somebody will notice

:21:15. > :21:18.you are good and give you a chance. I came to Europe and you were like a

:21:19. > :21:23.father to me. He monitored everything I did at Monaco. I follow

:21:24. > :21:30.his example and he made me a good man. I give him this because he

:21:31. > :21:36.deserves it more than I do. I have always been for a society based on

:21:37. > :21:41.merit and quality. And not too much on passports. Do you remember the

:21:42. > :21:45.time he came in when we were losing at home and he didn't say anything

:21:46. > :21:50.for 14 minutes and then he drew two bits of chalk on the board and a

:21:51. > :21:54.line, and then said, we start to play in the second half, come on,

:21:55. > :21:59.and he clapped and walked out. We went out in the second half and won

:22:00. > :22:05.3-1. We wondered, how did he do that? 2002 was another double

:22:06. > :22:09.winning year. What was most satisfying, winning the title at Old

:22:10. > :22:14.Trafford or the cup final with Chelsea? Chelsea were an up and

:22:15. > :22:18.coming team with top quality and we needed something special. Ray

:22:19. > :22:22.Parlour scored on the day. All I would say is it was a fantastic

:22:23. > :22:31.scene. And BB the most difficult cup final to win -- and may be. It was

:22:32. > :22:38.an exceptional week. Freddie Ljungberg. On the left-hand side

:22:39. > :22:46.here. Freddie Ljungberg goes himself. He's curled one. Another

:22:47. > :22:50.wonderful goal for Arsenal. After that 2000 and 200, Tony Adams

:22:51. > :23:00.retired and Lee Dixon retired. -- after that 2002 double. These

:23:01. > :23:04.generations of football players, I respected those guys, but they

:23:05. > :23:09.weren't always convinced during the week. But then they would deliver

:23:10. > :23:17.great games because sometimes they took the training easier, especially

:23:18. > :23:20.Tony Adams. But on Saturday they turned up. Everybody else let Tony

:23:21. > :23:24.get on with what he was doing, as long as he was playing well. Arsene

:23:25. > :23:29.Wenger came in and literally helped him, spoke to Tony and saved his

:23:30. > :23:33.life. He is a very loyal man, fiercely loyal. He has proved it in

:23:34. > :23:39.dealing with clubs and is also fiercely loyal to players. He has

:23:40. > :23:46.done it in every circumstance. It was sad to lose this generation.

:23:47. > :23:56.They were men you could rely on. Winning the English championship.

:23:57. > :24:05.The final of 2003. Freddie Ljungberg with a chance for Arsenal. Robert

:24:06. > :24:12.Pires surely. Goal! Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the FA Cup

:24:13. > :24:16.2003, Arsenal. The consistency in the competition has been superb. We

:24:17. > :24:20.are either at the top or second. We want to keep that going. The manager

:24:21. > :24:26.since he has been here has been fantastic. We were close to a double

:24:27. > :24:29.double. Looking at the last two seasons, we have won twice the cup

:24:30. > :24:37.and league championship and also runners-up. The opposition, it's not

:24:38. > :24:41.too bad. You created the best team in the world, Thierry Henry scoring

:24:42. > :24:46.goals for fun. Yeah, they scored for fun. At the time you don't notice,

:24:47. > :24:51.you think it's normal to win those games, but at a distance, we had

:24:52. > :24:56.quality, an exceptional team. Something about Arsene Wenger, I

:24:57. > :25:04.would not been playing for Arsenal or here. When I first arrived a lot

:25:05. > :25:08.of people were doubting my ability. With Arsene having a lot of

:25:09. > :25:14.confidence in me, without that I wouldn't be here tonight. He brought

:25:15. > :25:18.me to the club and changed me. He made me believe in my quality and

:25:19. > :25:26.myself, made me work really hard and maybe improve as a player and human

:25:27. > :25:30.being as well. -- made me improve. I thought Manchester United probably

:25:31. > :25:34.had more of the play that day. I wouldn't disagree. I think that's

:25:35. > :25:42.the final we won where we did not deserve to win at all. It was a

:25:43. > :25:47.couple we won with luck. A symbol on the day is Patrick Vieira scoring a

:25:48. > :25:52.penalty to win us the cup. And it's his last kick for Arsenal Football

:25:53. > :25:56.Club. I think the hardest thing is always, after you have won

:25:57. > :26:00.something, and have a great team, to change the team and bring in 45 new

:26:01. > :26:04.guys. He does it by spending less money than anyone else. No Arsenal

:26:05. > :26:09.fan will accept the step backward now. We have become spoiled by what

:26:10. > :26:15.we have seen. People really have a taste for it now. Will there really

:26:16. > :26:19.be a statue going up there one day? I think they already starting to

:26:20. > :26:23.build it. I was privileged to be alongside him for a lot of those ten

:26:24. > :26:32.years. A remarkable man with amazing intellect. Another ten years out of

:26:33. > :26:36.him at Highbury? Everybody hope so. Then the Dolderer years, nine years

:26:37. > :26:43.without a trophy. Why did that happen? It was simple reasons. Very

:26:44. > :26:48.simple reasons. -- the doldrum years. It was the most difficult

:26:49. > :26:52.period of my life, but where I may be did the best work. I think where

:26:53. > :26:57.maybe some of the fans have been upset is that money hasn't been

:26:58. > :27:02.spent. What about his philosophy about free-flowing attacking

:27:03. > :27:06.football. Should he reassess that? Nobody question is it when they win

:27:07. > :27:12.all the trophies. They have put the trophies around the top at the

:27:13. > :27:15.Emirates, but it stops at 2005. Clearly he is driven. Things must

:27:16. > :27:20.have happened in his childhood that means he has this need to try to

:27:21. > :27:25.create beautiful football. I think what drives him is that need rather

:27:26. > :27:36.than winning. He is a specialist in failure. I'm not. 2006-2014, we had

:27:37. > :27:41.restricted finances and had to sell our best players. We had to maintain

:27:42. > :27:48.at the top, be in the Champions League and had to make at least

:27:49. > :27:54.54,000 average attendance to pay back the debt. Ask Alex Ferguson or

:27:55. > :28:00.Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger of 2000 or 97 or 2004, how do you fancy

:28:01. > :28:05.coming third and fourth for 12 years? They would laugh at you. I

:28:06. > :28:08.did sweat more than ever during those years. It was the most

:28:09. > :28:13.difficult period of my life. But give me the challenge again today, I

:28:14. > :28:19.would say, no thank you, give it to somebody else. We live in a society

:28:20. > :28:24.that's always very categorical, dismissive, and I'm just interested

:28:25. > :28:37.in doing quality work everyday and letting other people judge that. As

:28:38. > :28:40.well, I believe people make the right decisions. What has gone wrong

:28:41. > :28:46.in modern society, it's not any more, is this the right decision,

:28:47. > :28:51.but is this popular or not popular? Is to buy this player popular or not

:28:52. > :28:55.popular? Is to sack this manager or employ this manager, popular or not

:28:56. > :29:02.popular? It has nothing to do with competence. People have to make the

:29:03. > :29:06.right decision and today may be more than ever have to make decisions

:29:07. > :29:10.that are not popular. The more expensive a player is, the more

:29:11. > :29:16.credit he gets. Nobody looks, can he pass, dribble, kick the ball? No. If

:29:17. > :29:21.he costs 150 million he must be exceptional. We have to keep it

:29:22. > :29:32.simple and just make the right decisions. Do the two later cup

:29:33. > :29:37.final successes, you are two down against Hull, and the Villa romp,

:29:38. > :29:42.did it to rekindle that love affair? I think winning the trophy again,

:29:43. > :29:46.when you don't win for a while, after the success we had before,

:29:47. > :29:54.everybody says, where are the trophies? I believe against Aston

:29:55. > :30:00.Villa was the dream to have, because we didn't concede a goal, we scored

:30:01. > :30:07.four, and after 20 or 30 minutes we could see we were by far the better

:30:08. > :30:13.team. Against Hull it was completely reverse. A nightmare final, 2-0

:30:14. > :30:25.down, shaky and nervous because we had absolutely to win. We came back

:30:26. > :30:30.into the game. Ramsey! And Ramsey scores for Arsenal in added time

:30:31. > :30:34.here at Wembley. Could that be the moment that will clinch their first

:30:35. > :30:40.trophy for nine years for Arsene Wenger?

:30:41. > :30:49.Ramie scored and got us the first trophy we hadn't won Father a while.

:30:50. > :30:56.So on the night I must say it was just a relief. Fans are unhappy

:30:57. > :31:03.anyway, that's being polite. They are fuming. We put up with this for

:31:04. > :31:10.12 years. If they give him a two-year deal I am not coming to

:31:11. > :31:16.Arsenal. I am sick of it! It's turning! This season the pressure

:31:17. > :31:22.has been back on. The hardest criticism has been... I would say

:31:23. > :31:28.you don't mind criticism because we are in a public job. The lack of

:31:29. > :31:36.respect in some stages has been, for me, a disgrace and I will never

:31:37. > :31:40.accept that. I believe there is a difference between being criticised

:31:41. > :31:45.and being treated in a way that human beings don't deserve to be

:31:46. > :31:50.treated. I will never forget that. There are some people who have

:31:51. > :31:53.admired everything you have done here and everything, seeing you

:31:54. > :31:58.lifting the FA Cup at Wembley would be like a beautiful farewell. Does

:31:59. > :32:03.that go through your mind at all? No, I want to win the Cup for my

:32:04. > :32:08.club and this is all I care about. It's not about me. I know that I

:32:09. > :32:15.meet so many people who love this club and share the passion for the

:32:16. > :32:20.club. I just think you cannot do anything and it is not my person

:32:21. > :32:28.that is hurt, for me it's the image I love to see of Arsenal Football

:32:29. > :32:35.Club all over the world and I don't believe that kind of behaviour

:32:36. > :32:41.reflects what Arsenal is and the values that Arsenal carries through.

:32:42. > :32:49.Is this as enjoyable a build-up to as an enjoyable a day for you as the

:32:50. > :32:55.first was? Of course, what is the beauty in life is that to share

:32:56. > :32:59.something with people around you, share emotions, share preparations,

:33:00. > :33:05.share excitement and have a collective target to reach and

:33:06. > :33:07.overall I believe that is of course something exceptional, that will

:33:08. > :33:13.always be exactly the same. Why? Because you don't know what will

:33:14. > :33:21.happen during the game. Football is unpredictable and nobody can predict

:33:22. > :33:25.what happens at 5. 30pm. What a view, Wembley Stadium, ladies

:33:26. > :33:29.and gentlemen. Look at it. Especially given the events in

:33:30. > :33:34.Manchester this week. It is going to be a very poignant FA Cup final this

:33:35. > :33:37.year. A wonderful view at Wembley Stadium. I have been here from this

:33:38. > :33:42.morning, there were a handful of fans having pictures. It's getting

:33:43. > :33:46.so busy now. We have left the Arsenal fan park. We are now heading

:33:47. > :33:50.to the Chelsea fan park. We have a wonderful welcome. I think you can

:33:51. > :33:53.see us. That's the back of my head apparently. Let's give you a wave.

:33:54. > :33:59.Hello. Lots of Arsenal and Chelsea fans. How lovely is this? Lots of

:34:00. > :34:02.fans, rival fans having a laugh and enjoying it. That's the side of

:34:03. > :34:06.football that we like. We have been joined by four Chelsea fans here.

:34:07. > :34:11.Alex, a blogger, with Chelsea Football Club. How excited are you

:34:12. > :34:14.about today? Really excited but nervous obviously. Everyone is

:34:15. > :34:19.saying we should win and it's going to be easy but everyone who has

:34:20. > :34:22.supported chemical for a length of time knows that's never true. -- who

:34:23. > :34:26.has supported Chelsea. It's wonderful seeing all the fans. It's

:34:27. > :34:29.brilliant nobody has been put off by sad events this week and everyone is

:34:30. > :34:32.here to have a good time. Why are you nervous, you are the Premier

:34:33. > :34:35.League champions and Arsenal have had a terrible season. Because

:34:36. > :34:39.that's exactly why. That will be the time that we trip up and let them

:34:40. > :34:43.beat us. That's what happens. I am quite confident, quietly confident.

:34:44. > :34:47.But anything can happen in a 90-minute Cup game. Alex, we are

:34:48. > :34:51.here to celebrate the final. I don't want you going all political here,

:34:52. > :34:57.but I have to ask you, because I was in the middle of a finals studio

:34:58. > :35:00.when the John Terry story broke. Don't shout at me. It was Garth who

:35:01. > :35:05.said this is not Hollywood. Can I ask your view of how the media

:35:06. > :35:10.handled the John Terry story? We greet it all with a massive pinch of

:35:11. > :35:18.salt. If there was any day that should have been about John Terry it

:35:19. > :35:22.was last Sunday. We put up with a six-month farewell tour of Steven

:35:23. > :35:25.Gerrard. It wasn't the same. Somebody who has given 20 years of

:35:26. > :35:29.service, it was about showing him respect. We all had a great day. He

:35:30. > :35:32.is done with Chelsea now and I don't any of us are sorry about what

:35:33. > :35:35.happened. It was a Premier League fixture. It was, there was nothing

:35:36. > :35:41.at stake. As I understand it, Sunderland were happy, we were

:35:42. > :35:47.happy. Nobody did the same when Drogba got carried off in his last

:35:48. > :35:50.game. I am amused by the amount of venom, especially from Garth Crooks.

:35:51. > :35:54.Takes himself too seriously. That's my friend. I know, he is a lovely

:35:55. > :36:00.man, but chill. Good afternoon, Garth. Message from Alex, chill.

:36:01. > :36:04.Thank you. Lovely to see you. Sam, how excited are you about today,

:36:05. > :36:08.Chelsea win? As excited as I can be. Chelsea win, hopefully. On paper it

:36:09. > :36:13.should be. But let's be honest, it's a Cup final, it's a derby, it can go

:36:14. > :36:18.either way. I think I can remember recently we played them in the

:36:19. > :36:22.Community Shield and we fell apart. Granted they had a full team and

:36:23. > :36:28.today it's not the same story. It's a game of football, could go either

:36:29. > :36:34.way. Karen, can you believe you are going for a double. Did you think it

:36:35. > :36:39.would happen? Never dreamt we would be here today. Who is this? My dad.

:36:40. > :36:43.Hello dad. You look like you have been supporting Chelsea for a long

:36:44. > :36:52.time, no offence. Thanks a lot! Yeah. Since 56. 1956. How many Cup

:36:53. > :36:57.finals? Can't remember. I missed one, I had to come all the way home,

:36:58. > :37:01.they left the Cup find. You might not remember, we were within that

:37:02. > :37:05.much of picking up the Cup and gave a goal away. Then there was a

:37:06. > :37:10.replay. This must be the best time to be a Chelsea fan. It is. I was a

:37:11. > :37:14.glory hunter in 56 when we were winning. I had to wait 50 years

:37:15. > :37:20.after that for the next time. But it's all coming good now. Can you

:37:21. > :37:23.believe the job Antonio Conte... They all start singing now, the job

:37:24. > :37:27.he has done. He has been magnificent. Amazing. Especially

:37:28. > :37:32.after the first six games. I thought here we go again, another year. Have

:37:33. > :37:35.you seen the papers today, ?9. 6 million contract apparently. He is

:37:36. > :37:39.worth every penny. He is a gentleman. Sign him for the next ten

:37:40. > :37:46.years? Absolutely and the rest! Best one we have had. That's saying

:37:47. > :37:50.something. Ranieri, he was a nice man, as well. Thank you very much.

:37:51. > :37:55.They're shouting come on Chelsea. Lots of people have been getting in

:37:56. > :37:58.touch using the hashtag BBC FA Cup. Lots on social media. We have had

:37:59. > :38:02.lovely pictures. Thank you all very much indeed for getting in touch.

:38:03. > :38:08.Keep them coming. They've been coming in of babies and

:38:09. > :38:13.also of boats in Thailand. People getting ready around the world to

:38:14. > :38:17.watch the FA Cup. That's the global appeal. Good afternoon to this chap,

:38:18. > :38:21.as well. Known as the dancing Arsenal fan. One Chelsea fan is

:38:22. > :38:27.saying maybe he should be going to your fan park. He has been dancing

:38:28. > :38:35.like this for the last 25 minutes or so. He must be boiling. Now fun with

:38:36. > :38:41.Omid Djalili. He has been looking at the best comedy sketches with

:38:42. > :38:46.football down the years. Enjoy. Football is a very simple game. I

:38:47. > :38:51.hit the ball first time and there it was in the back of the net. Still

:38:52. > :38:56.got the maths to enjoy. Watch it, watch it! It's going to

:38:57. > :39:14.move! The FA Cup one of the biggest dates

:39:15. > :39:18.in the sporting calm ender, high stakes, high tension. High drama. It

:39:19. > :39:28.all happens here at the cathedral of English football.

:39:29. > :39:32.Oi, off the pitch! The FA Cup one of the biggest days in the sporting

:39:33. > :39:37.calendar, high drama, high tension. High stakes. This is where it all

:39:38. > :39:38.takes place, the cathedral of English football. Wembley.

:39:39. > :39:55.Just over there. Arsenal! Chelsea!

:39:56. > :39:59.What a Cup final it's going to be. But I have to declare my loyalties,

:40:00. > :40:06.I am actually a Chelsea fan. I am not just a Chelsea fan, I am widely

:40:07. > :40:10.kind of seen as an expert. In the 2005-06 season and in 2014-15

:40:11. > :40:18.Chelsea won the Premier League title by how many points? 103. If only,

:40:19. > :40:21.eight. Yeah, got beaten by a puppet. I have been a Chelsea fan since

:40:22. > :40:27.1971. I am not one of those fans that gets carried away.

:40:28. > :40:32.Chelsea are champions of Europe! All right, maybe a bit carried away.

:40:33. > :40:34.Some of us take football so seriously it's actually really

:40:35. > :40:46.funny. The fact it's not lost on sketch

:40:47. > :40:52.writers. You can catch all that football here where we will show all

:40:53. > :40:58.the football all the time. Thousands and thousands of hours of football,

:40:59. > :41:02.constant dizzying 24-hour year-long endless football, every kick of it

:41:03. > :41:06.mattering to someone presumably. Watch it all here, all the time,

:41:07. > :41:09.forever T will never stop. The football is officially going on

:41:10. > :41:14.forever! Coming up, watch it, watch the football! Watch it, watch it!

:41:15. > :41:21.It's going to move. Watch the football! What does David Mitchell

:41:22. > :41:24.know about football? That sketch was written by someone who hates

:41:25. > :41:30.football. For those of us who love the game we know that some of our

:41:31. > :41:35.best comedy characters came out of their love of football. Once again

:41:36. > :41:45.the pace and tempo of that first half totally dictated by the boy

:41:46. > :41:51.wonder Ryan Giggs. Ryan Giggs, you know, Giggsy, isn't it. Ryan

:41:52. > :41:55.Giggs-wiggsy. Marvellous. Do we need a structured game, look at the

:41:56. > :42:00.Brazilians? Those Brazilians, oh, broke the mould. Didn't they, you

:42:01. > :42:03.know, theory out the window. Free expression of football.

:42:04. > :42:10.Uncharacterisable. Is that a word? It is now. You know, a far cry from

:42:11. > :42:13.the English game. Small boys in the park, jumpers for goal posts. Three

:42:14. > :42:17.in the middle, four at the front. One's gone home for his tea. Beans

:42:18. > :42:27.on toast. Possibly, don't quote me on that. Marvellous.

:42:28. > :42:32.There's no doubt media coverage has a a huge impact on our relationship

:42:33. > :42:36.with the beautiful game. Back in the day the biggest challenge we had as

:42:37. > :42:38.football fans was getting people not to tell you the result of an

:42:39. > :42:44.important football match you were going to see the highlights of on

:42:45. > :42:49.telly that night. Who do you think will win the match? Yeah. The news

:42:50. > :42:53.from Bulgaria. Don't tell us! We want to watch it on the box tonight.

:42:54. > :43:00.You will never last until tonight. Let me put you... Don't tell us! One

:43:01. > :43:05.of the great things about working at the BBC is that you can actually go

:43:06. > :43:13.and film inside the Match of the Day sturd I do. -- Match of the Day

:43:14. > :43:26.studio. I am really excited. Come on in.

:43:27. > :43:34.This is it. Match of the Day studio. Very comfortable. The pundits really

:43:35. > :43:39.have it easy, don't they? It's the commentators who have the toughest

:43:40. > :43:44.job. Moving into the last minute of the game. It's really been on edge,

:43:45. > :43:59.end to end stuff all night. Great excitement. Come on, liven it up!

:44:00. > :44:08.Skips past Terry. If you are talking for 90 minutes you are bound to say

:44:09. > :44:22.something stupid. But in Alan Partridge's case it's a gift. Goal!

:44:23. > :44:32.Yes, yes, yes, yes! Yes! That was a goal! Eat that! And another! The

:44:33. > :44:38.proof is in the pudding and the pudding in this case is a football.

:44:39. > :44:43.Eat my goal! The goalie has got football pie all over his shirt. I

:44:44. > :44:45.am Alan Partridge and that will be my World Cup 94. You can come too.

:44:46. > :45:00.Join me. Can I have Gary's seat? I don't want

:45:01. > :45:03.to be Mark Chapman. Even Mark Chapman doesn't want to be Mark

:45:04. > :45:09.Chapman! There are so many ways to get your football fix now. Football

:45:10. > :45:13.heroes at the tip of your fingers. Even random stuff, if we suddenly

:45:14. > :45:29.want to watch Icelandic fish goal celebrations, you've got it.

:45:30. > :45:34.Literally anything you want. Can you imagine a world where you can go a

:45:35. > :45:41.whole day without finding out the football scores? Still got the match

:45:42. > :45:46.to enjoy. That's at least salvage something from today. We will now

:45:47. > :45:52.take you over to Vienna for the finals of the European figure

:45:53. > :45:55.Skating Championships. You what?! This replaces the England against

:45:56. > :45:58.Bulgaria soccer match that was postponed earlier today because

:45:59. > :46:18.though waterlogged pitch! The need to analyse has become

:46:19. > :46:21.insatiable. Hours of talking about the game, sometimes as long as the

:46:22. > :46:30.game itself. It's easy to overanalyse a simple game. We are

:46:31. > :46:37.now standing with the team and my Man of the Match was this

:46:38. > :46:41.freethinking, arch midfielder Jimmy buzzard. At least one ageing

:46:42. > :46:46.football commentator was enamoured last night by an English footballer

:46:47. > :46:58.breaking three tentacles backed Mediterranean defence. Good evening.

:46:59. > :47:01.What I'm getting at is that you have understood concepts by which you

:47:02. > :47:05.intersected the Italian defence last night. I hit the ball first time and

:47:06. > :47:24.there it was in the back of the net. For comedians, the first butt of

:47:25. > :47:30.jokes is you, the fans. The players feel pain, but for the fans come you

:47:31. > :47:34.can feel eviscerated. Personally, I love it when fans take it seriously.

:47:35. > :47:38.There's a general rule that when you play for double, even if it's a

:47:39. > :47:43.kickabout in the park, the more intense the game is, the more fun

:47:44. > :47:51.you have. So for me, there's nothing worse than a fake fan. Looking a bit

:47:52. > :47:55.grim there for us for a moment, wasn't it? But that equaliser really

:47:56. > :47:59.sorted is out. I think with that boost, win the second half we have a

:48:00. > :48:04.good chance of hammering them. What a goal, nobody there and then nodded

:48:05. > :48:13.it in. It was disallowed. He was offside. They can't do that! They

:48:14. > :48:24.did. So were losing then, are we? Yeah. Well, things to do. Nice to

:48:25. > :48:27.have met you. Soccer! Deep down, we have always laughed at the same

:48:28. > :48:35.things, even when the football was in black and white. Arsenal against

:48:36. > :48:40.the Liverpool team of 1991. Playing for the first time in black and

:48:41. > :48:44.white. Charles Charley Charles shaking hands with the referee, Mr

:48:45. > :48:49.Hollingsworth of Cheltenham. How touching coming he's given him a

:48:50. > :48:54.lovely scarf. Beauxis around some nice looking sandwiches. Liverpool

:48:55. > :49:00.have taken account of the whistle, they are off and it go.

:49:01. > :49:23.Shot for goal. If the referee going to allow that? Yes, it's just over

:49:24. > :49:27.the line. And as for referees, well, they're just frustrated footballers.

:49:28. > :49:32.A nice fair game. Two of my lads haven't turned up. I can play on

:49:33. > :49:38.your team then. The referee is playing for them! It's OK, let's go.

:49:39. > :49:42.Where do you want to play? Full-back? I'll play up front. Off

:49:43. > :49:50.we go. No goal. I was offside. What are you

:49:51. > :50:08.playing at? Penalty! Penalty! No penalty. I

:50:09. > :50:13.dived. I'm booking myself for diving. What are you talking about?

:50:14. > :50:25.It was a penalty. This one, we thought, was amazing.

:50:26. > :50:34.Just before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, for comic relief, a

:50:35. > :50:41.good cause. I still believe in you. Frank, actually, do you know...

:50:42. > :50:46.Oh... Do you know Steven Gerrard? Big Scouse guy, yeah? Has the

:50:47. > :50:50.unfortunate forward hairline was always talks like that... Me and the

:50:51. > :50:57.gaffer just want to do great, play football. You like him, get on with

:50:58. > :51:02.him? Play like it then! May look up and passed him every now and again,

:51:03. > :51:11.OK? Because you are really good at football, OK? And he's as good, if

:51:12. > :51:15.not a teensy bit better. JT, you are the last bastions of the

:51:16. > :51:18.old-fashioned English centre-back. You're like Terry Butcher with a

:51:19. > :51:27.bandage round your head, until you miss a penalty. I've had enough of

:51:28. > :51:34.this since Gazza. We save that tears for home. That goes for all of us.

:51:35. > :51:41.The choice of comedy, which galvanised the England team who went

:51:42. > :51:47.on to get thrashed 4-1 by Germany. -- good choice of comedy. The thing

:51:48. > :51:55.is, though, you've got to love the players.

:51:56. > :52:02.# Blue is the colour, football is the game... One of the oldest gags

:52:03. > :52:07.in football is marking a player for being a bit thick. It's an easy

:52:08. > :52:12.target. The young and pampered being paid millions to kick a ball for a

:52:13. > :52:17.living. Jason, how did you see today's game? It started off, then

:52:18. > :52:24.carried on... A break in the middle, and then it was over. Disappointing

:52:25. > :52:28.result though. It was one of those games where whoever scored first was

:52:29. > :52:32.going to win it and we were extremely unlucky, especially with

:52:33. > :52:37.their faith, sixth and seven. Number eight was unstoppable. And frankly

:52:38. > :52:42.by nine we'd given up. It's a cheap shot. Not all footballers are

:52:43. > :52:48.stupid. Pat Nevin has a degree. Gary Neville is actually Doctor Gary

:52:49. > :52:54.Neville. And our Gary has been moonlighting as a comedian on have I

:52:55. > :52:58.got news for you. The toilets at Victoria Station cost 50p to use

:52:59. > :53:03.unless you book online two months ahead, when you can get in for 35p,

:53:04. > :53:07.but they still won't get you a seat. You have to give it up to all the

:53:08. > :53:18.foreign players, coming over here, putting up with all the terrible

:53:19. > :53:19.weather, learning a new language. Julio Geordio, good to have you back

:53:20. > :53:44.on the show. Any mocking of the players is really

:53:45. > :53:46.only because word jealous of their incredible physique, they're

:53:47. > :53:54.fabulous good looks and their amazing skill. With 20 minutes of

:53:55. > :53:59.the first half done, still no score. What a fantastic ballplayer this boy

:54:00. > :54:13.is. He has completely mesmerised the defender. Fantastic! Let's go

:54:14. > :54:15.through it again. He beat Swann, another man. Stands at the goal

:54:16. > :54:40.line. The game has always had funny

:54:41. > :54:46.moments, given its a full-bodied, physical and contact sport. Right,

:54:47. > :54:55.now, listen. Football is a very simple game. What is it? A very

:54:56. > :55:00.simple game. What the object of the of football? To run into the box and

:55:01. > :55:07.fall over. One at a time, Ricky, off you go. There are many ways you can

:55:08. > :55:12.laugh at football, but if you think about it, really think about it,

:55:13. > :55:16.really, really, really think about it... Now we are going back to the

:55:17. > :55:20.Olympic Stadium for the closing minutes of the philosophy final and

:55:21. > :55:33.I understand there is still no score. Nietzsche is there. Victims

:55:34. > :55:39.dine with him. Beckenbauer. -- Wittgenstein with him. There is

:55:40. > :55:49.Archimedes. He's had an idea. Eureka! Archimedes to Socrates, back

:55:50. > :55:54.to Archimedes. A little flick. On the far post, Socrates is there and

:55:55. > :56:08.it's in. Socrates has scored and the Greeks are going mad. The Germans

:56:09. > :56:13.are disputing it. HKant fires the ontological imperative. I would like

:56:14. > :56:17.to see Sir Alex Ferguson sort this one out. Has to be the toughest job

:56:18. > :56:21.in football. Sometimes being responsible for a bunch of players

:56:22. > :56:29.is like running a nursery. How do you communicate with small kids?

:56:30. > :56:36.Big, animated gestures. Play the ball, I said to them play the ball.

:56:37. > :56:43.It's a simple game. Simple game. Why would they listen to me! JT, tell

:56:44. > :56:56.them my hair is the best. Tell them, come on! Joe Hart, no, how? I've got

:56:57. > :57:02.much better hair. I got the hair commercial, I got the hair

:57:03. > :57:06.commercial! I love Antonio Conte. Who doesn't? But maybe sometimes

:57:07. > :57:10.there's a little too much testosterone in football. The

:57:11. > :57:14.greatest thing about football, I think, is that it's for everyone,

:57:15. > :57:20.you know? It's not just for men. And anybody who says it's just for men

:57:21. > :57:30.is a sexist, which I hate. Women watch football too. Not to me, I'm

:57:31. > :57:36.not... But to women. For everyone. If there two teams that reflect the

:57:37. > :57:41.diversity of our society, it's Chelsea and Arsenal, black, white,

:57:42. > :57:47.young, old, straight, gay... I don't think there are any gays in the

:57:48. > :57:55.team. Is he? He looks so butch, doesn't he. Wembley Stadium on cup

:57:56. > :57:58.final day. There you have it, very shortly Chelsea and Arsenal fans

:57:59. > :58:07.will be cascading down Wembley Way with glory on their minds. Nice to

:58:08. > :58:11.see you to see you... Nice! The FA Cup is up for grabs and it's a

:58:12. > :58:15.serious business. It's precisely because we care so much that we can

:58:16. > :58:21.afford a little giggle at the beautiful game's expense. The skill,

:58:22. > :58:23.passion, a bit of afters. It's always been that way. And long may

:58:24. > :58:37.it continue. And this is what it's all about. The

:58:38. > :58:42.Emirates FA Cup on the hallowed turf. In just a few hours, either

:58:43. > :58:47.Arsenal or Chelsea will lift the famous trophy at Wembley. The BBC

:58:48. > :58:53.sport coverage will start at 4:15pm with Gary, Ian Wright, Alan Shearer

:58:54. > :58:57.and Frank Lampard. The fans are still making their way along Wembley

:58:58. > :59:00.Way. Fantastic atmosphere out there today and both dreaming of lifting

:59:01. > :59:08.the FA Cup. Thank you for watching the FA Cup show. Hope you are ready

:59:09. > :59:11.for a fantastic FA Cup final on BBC One. Now it's time for the news.
