:00:48. > :00:54.Welcome to White Hart Lane where Tottenham meet Aston Villa of the

:00:55. > :01:01.Championship, a club who have played in the FA Cup final just over 18

:01:02. > :01:06.months ago. Here you can see how Spurs' old home is changing with the

:01:07. > :01:10.building of a new stadium and the regeneration of the area after some

:01:11. > :01:23.difficult times. It feels like they're on the way up!

:01:24. > :01:37.Listen, I come like Poch to the place. A new stadium, hopped off the

:01:38. > :01:49.train at the lane again. Hard times, we have been through it. # Been

:01:50. > :02:01.called for Redknapp, Rosy at left-back # Cup run for the lads #

:02:02. > :02:12.There ain't no I in team # We have drama here, but still persevere, let

:02:13. > :02:15.the world be clear! This is the Mauricio Pochettino's third season

:02:16. > :02:19.with Spurs and he is again balancing the FA Cup with the demands of the

:02:20. > :02:28.Premier League and European football. He is resting some key

:02:29. > :02:37.players today. Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce was twice a winner as a

:02:38. > :02:53.player and led Hull to the final. They will be backed by a vociferous

:02:54. > :02:57.travelling support. We are joined by Alan Shearer, Dion Dublin and

:02:58. > :03:05.Germaine Jenas. Good times for Tottenham? Yes, a very good team,

:03:06. > :03:08.going for the Premier League. A new ground, exciting young players and

:03:09. > :03:11.Aston Villa a bit of stability back in the club, with Steve Bruce in

:03:12. > :03:16.charge. He is the right man for them. We should be in for a good

:03:17. > :03:24.game. Tough days for Aston Villa generally? Yes, over the past five

:03:25. > :03:30.or six years, had a stinker, gone down into the Championship. They

:03:31. > :03:36.have had five or six managers. Has that been part of problem? There has

:03:37. > :03:42.opinion no stability, they haven't said here is a contract and let's

:03:43. > :03:48.build something. Spurs on the way up, but it is a long time since they

:03:49. > :03:52.won this competition. Yes, a little giggle already. Looking at the team.

:03:53. > :03:57.He has had to rest a few. It is still a long side and they have a

:03:58. > :04:05.strong squad and everything is going well for them. Stadium, training

:04:06. > :04:10.ground, good young players. This being one of them. Dele didn't even

:04:11. > :04:18.play that well in this game. But he has been more clinical and that's

:04:19. > :04:22.projected him into this level. Are the players around him watching him

:04:23. > :04:27.and saying, I would like to do that? I think it was probably Harry Kane

:04:28. > :04:30.that started that process. Once somebody knew they had the

:04:31. > :04:34.opportunity to get on to the pitch and if they took the opportunity

:04:35. > :04:40.they could go on to become a top player at Spurs. That has attracted

:04:41. > :04:47.youngsters. He has trust. Let's see thousand two teams line up. -- how

:04:48. > :05:41.the two teams line up. Agbonlahor makes only his third

:05:42. > :05:47.start in ten months. Aston Villa are currently 12th in the Championship

:05:48. > :05:50.table. Although they have improved under Steve Bruce, they're still

:05:51. > :05:57.seven points off the play-off places. Steve a break from league

:05:58. > :06:03.pressures, you love the Cup. What is the big challenge today? Well the

:06:04. > :06:10.big challenge is who our opponents are, they're a good side, arguably

:06:11. > :06:14.as good a Tottenham team I have seen in my time in football and very

:06:15. > :06:18.confident with a wonderful win last week. They're one of big teams of

:06:19. > :06:23.our country at the moment. So it is stacked again vs us. But that is

:06:24. > :06:29.what the FA Cup is. Let's have a crack and try and enjoy it. You have

:06:30. > :06:36.turned the form around a little. How big a job do you still face? Well,

:06:37. > :06:40.we are under no illusion it is a big job, a great job, but it has been a

:06:41. > :06:46.big job, because is has had six managers in 18 months. That Thames

:06:47. > :06:52.you -- that tells you the traumas and there have been changes through

:06:53. > :06:56.the playing end too. We need a bit of stability and you only get that

:06:57. > :07:00.if you get a few results. Thankfully they have gone OK. That is all we

:07:01. > :07:03.have done. There is shoots of recovery, but we must keep

:07:04. > :07:08.improving. There is a long way to go. How do you approach this one,

:07:09. > :07:12.you mentioned how tough it is. We have got to make ate cup tie -- it a

:07:13. > :07:18.cup tie. We know how difficult that will be, but we have got to make it

:07:19. > :07:25.what the FA Cup is about and try our best to get in among them and and

:07:26. > :07:31.stop them playing and cause a threat the other way. Well Jack Grealish is

:07:32. > :07:36.a player you remember from Aston Villa's run to the final two seasons

:07:37. > :07:42.ago. He is still only 21 and has been involved in a few off field

:07:43. > :07:50.problems since he starred in a semi-final win over Liverpool. He

:07:51. > :08:00.has been looking back. Arsenal have four. It was heartbreaking, but to

:08:01. > :08:04.play in a final at 19 was a dream come true for me. That spurred us on

:08:05. > :08:08.to stay in the league. We were fighting relegation and we had a

:08:09. > :08:15.good positive cup run. I think that helped us. Aston Villa will be at

:08:16. > :08:25.home to West Bromwich. It was a big game. The local Derby. We had to win

:08:26. > :08:32.to get to Wembley. Grealish plays it to Sinclair, who shoots and scores.

:08:33. > :08:38.Then I got my first red card and I ran inside and asked the media guy,

:08:39. > :08:42.what game am I suspended for. Luckily he said its Sunderland away.

:08:43. > :08:49.So you will be all right for the semi-final. The bookies odds point

:08:50. > :08:54.to Liverpool. But Aston Villa sniff a shock. I look back on that day as

:08:55. > :08:59.the best day of my life. That day I didn't think I would be starting and

:09:00. > :09:04.the team got announced and I was buzzing to be playing. Having a hand

:09:05. > :09:14.in both goals was unbelievable. Degree lash into Delph and scores.

:09:15. > :09:17.As a kid, that is something you dream of, playing for your local

:09:18. > :09:23.team at Wembley against Liverpool and going on to win and having a

:09:24. > :09:29.final to look forward to was a dream come true. You look at their

:09:30. > :09:38.starting eleven that they had out and it was just too good. Oh Sanchez

:09:39. > :09:42.has scored a beauty. A lot has come to you quickly. What have you

:09:43. > :09:49.learned from this steep learning curve. Since the semi-final, it all

:09:50. > :09:56.changed. I thought I was still the normal Jack, but stuff has changed.

:09:57. > :10:02.I have just got to concentrate on my football and hopefully that will

:10:03. > :10:06.continue. I suppose there are moments when it can go one way or

:10:07. > :10:11.the other. We have all had that moment. It is choosing the right

:10:12. > :10:16.path. Jack has had his problems, I have spoke to Jack on message on DM

:10:17. > :10:21.and on Twitter and spoke about when he was getting into trouble. I said,

:10:22. > :10:25.get your head right. He came back and said, I have made some mistakes,

:10:26. > :10:29.I have got to get back in the fist team and do -- first team and start

:10:30. > :10:34.doing well. Now, two years ago, he was setting the world alight in the

:10:35. > :10:38.semi-final. Now he's couple of years older, I hope he has grown up and

:10:39. > :10:44.keep himself out of that mess. I think he knows the mistakes he has

:10:45. > :10:49.made. Because he has a very good footballing brain, knows when the

:10:50. > :10:55.pass it. Knows what weight to put on and he seems to find the pockets,

:10:56. > :11:02.just behind the four midfielders. And here the weight of pass, he will

:11:03. > :11:08.look for, that was Benteke. And he has the culture to score as well. He

:11:09. > :11:14.has got to start to say to himself, I'm a lucky man, playing at Aston

:11:15. > :11:18.Villa, a huge club, don't ruin the thing. The penny has to drop. The

:11:19. > :11:23.life of a footballer, it is incredible. To throw it away at an

:11:24. > :11:31.early age would be madness. Aston Villa, despite regular -- relegation

:11:32. > :11:36.have spent big. ?55 million they spent in the summer. You look at

:11:37. > :11:42.some of the names and the price tags. I lot haven't lived up to

:11:43. > :11:47.expectations. But they have got the right man in, Steve Bruce knows that

:11:48. > :11:52.division. He knows how to get teams out of it and the owner will back

:11:53. > :11:55.him. But it is a massive club. When you look around at the clubs that

:11:56. > :12:01.would love to have that money to spend. You have got to get the

:12:02. > :12:05.manager right and back him. That is the best signing. A man that knows

:12:06. > :12:10.the league and how to get teams out of league. It is a show of intent.

:12:11. > :12:15.That amount of money. I'm sure they will go again in January to try and

:12:16. > :12:22.close the gap. Referee today one Mike Dean, who has made a few

:12:23. > :12:29.headlines in recent times of course. Referees are under enough pressure,

:12:30. > :12:35.but this guy will be under extra pressure because of what was spoken

:12:36. > :12:40.about after that game. One thing I learned from the European

:12:41. > :12:44.Championships was the standard of the referee, not every tackle has to

:12:45. > :12:51.be a yellow card. This guy ties quick to bandish a red card. I hope

:12:52. > :12:56.it is a game for him today to stay out of spotlight and do what he has

:12:57. > :13:05.to do and not give a yellow card if it is not a right decision. You want

:13:06. > :13:14.to keep the flow going. Not every tackle has to be a free kick. It is

:13:15. > :13:17.a contact sport. That is what we learned from the European

:13:18. > :13:23.Championships, because they didn't give a yellow card and allowed play

:13:24. > :13:28.to flow and to carry on and that is one thing the referees should have

:13:29. > :13:33.learned. Normally we judge referees during and after the game, but not

:13:34. > :13:39.before. There we go. There has been one game that has finished already.

:13:40. > :13:46.Quite a surprising result there at Liverpool. Ended up a goalless draw

:13:47. > :13:50.between Liverpool and Plymouth. Liverpool did play a very young

:13:51. > :13:58.starting line up. And in many ways the last thing Liverpool want is a

:13:59. > :14:07.replay. Can you understand it? No. I don't like seeing teams rest soing

:14:08. > :14:11.many players - resting so many players. We saw wit Bournemouth. Six

:14:12. > :14:20.games to win to get the trophy. It is... Affected Liverpool and they

:14:21. > :14:26.have another game. We can hear now from the Tottenham manager, Mauricio

:14:27. > :14:34.Pochettino, he is with Eilidh. Nine changes today, you're on a great

:14:35. > :14:44.run, but how big a risk is that? I think football is always about the

:14:45. > :14:49.risks. We are Tottenham. We need to do our job. We need to try to

:14:50. > :14:56.perform as well and try to win games. We believe after a very busy

:14:57. > :15:04.period in Christmas to give some rest and some players that need

:15:05. > :15:11.rest. And the players I have decided to play, because they're working

:15:12. > :15:20.hard. We are a mixed team, because it is the case of Trippier and

:15:21. > :15:24.Davies and Sissoko play a lot of games. We have a strong squad and we

:15:25. > :15:30.fwheed to show we can -- need to show we can trust in everyone. And

:15:31. > :15:39.it is not a excuse. It is important to go further in the FA Cup and to

:15:40. > :15:44.try to avoid risks in terms of injuries and players that need rest

:15:45. > :15:50.a little bit. Not only his body, but his mind too and it is for that, for

:15:51. > :15:58.me football is about the squad and today it is Tottenham that play and

:15:59. > :16:05.if it is not excuse for trying to go further to the next round.

:16:06. > :16:12.Pochettino has given a chance to his young ballplaying midfielder, Harry

:16:13. > :16:19.winks, another product of the Academy. You have been at Spurs

:16:20. > :16:23.since the age of five, which is incredible. How are you finding your

:16:24. > :16:28.first full season as a professional? I'm loving it, I really am, it has

:16:29. > :16:32.been brilliant for me so far. I have been in and around at the last four

:16:33. > :16:38.seasons, but I remember being 15 or 16 when I came in as a full-time.

:16:39. > :16:42.Just playing with players that two years ago you were singing in the

:16:43. > :16:46.crowd for. It is strange and surreal, slowly as the progress, you

:16:47. > :16:49.feel a bit more part of it, and for me it is still a little bit

:16:50. > :16:55.awestruck as well when you are in and around it. You made your first.

:16:56. > :17:00.Against West Ham, and then you have the audacity to score that

:17:01. > :17:06.equaliser. Harry winks is there! Progress through your emotions that

:17:07. > :17:10.moment, if you can? It is a struggle, because of the time it was

:17:11. > :17:13.a blur. All I can remember is seeing the manager, seeing my family up in

:17:14. > :17:18.the box and every thing else was a blur really. The manager was saying

:17:19. > :17:22.when you score your first ball, come running to us, and that was partly

:17:23. > :17:27.the reason to do it as well, just to thank him for everything he has done

:17:28. > :17:32.for me as well. What is it like to play them? It is brilliant, it is

:17:33. > :17:36.perfect. I am a Tottenham fan, playing possession football, the

:17:37. > :17:40.high pressing game, it is brilliant, that is what you want to be involved

:17:41. > :17:45.in, you get on the front foot and it is what the crowd like to see, as

:17:46. > :17:49.well. Who would you say is your role model? For me, the most important in

:17:50. > :17:55.my development growing up was Steven Gerrard. He is a massive influence

:17:56. > :17:59.on my career, I remember writing a letter to him than I was about five,

:18:00. > :18:03.and he never returned it. He was a great player, just goals, assists,

:18:04. > :18:06.power, he just dominated the Premiership for years. He is someone

:18:07. > :18:13.I look up to and hope one day to emulate. Another young Tottenham

:18:14. > :18:17.player you would think with a big future. I think he has a very big

:18:18. > :18:21.future ahead of him. They knew he was going through because they allow

:18:22. > :18:24.the likes of Mason to leave the club, he has pushed himself in front

:18:25. > :18:28.of the likes of Tom Carroll as well and I think he could not be at a

:18:29. > :18:33.better place with Rocio Pochettino. I like his willingness to go and get

:18:34. > :18:36.on the ball whenever he wants in any type of situation because that is

:18:37. > :18:41.what you need to do when you play for Tottenham. Especially in this

:18:42. > :18:44.team that Pochettino has set up. He wants his players to receive it in

:18:45. > :18:48.tight areas, passed the ball forward, find your forward players

:18:49. > :18:51.and that is what seems to come to him naturally. Look at that, just

:18:52. > :18:55.drifting away from people on the edge of his own box, passing

:18:56. > :18:59.forward. This is a side to his game he will want to improve on, scoring

:19:00. > :19:03.more goals. That was the stroke of his left foot, but what a dream full

:19:04. > :19:07.debut that was the stick that one of the back of the net. But there is a

:19:08. > :19:10.level of trust Monsieur Pochettino starting to give to him, in terms of

:19:11. > :19:14.the big games he's playing him in. The one midweek when he took of

:19:15. > :19:19.Dembele to bring him on after 65 minutes I think shocked everyone but

:19:20. > :19:24.he trusts the lad in a big way. You said while watching the interview, I

:19:25. > :19:30.think he is younger than Dele Alli. I think Dele Alli is on the run him.

:19:31. > :19:35.Which is incredible. It shows how good Dele Alli is. One of the

:19:36. > :19:39.perhaps downers of the season for the problem is perhaps the way some

:19:40. > :19:42.of the new signings have not really performed. Vincent Janssen get

:19:43. > :19:50.another opportunity. He has not scored a goal from open play yet. He

:19:51. > :19:55.has 3:2 so far, ?70 million. -- ?17 million. The pace and intensity at

:19:56. > :20:00.the minute seems a bit too much for him. These are big chances, you have

:20:01. > :20:06.to hit the target and score goals. Whether you like it or not, a

:20:07. > :20:11.forward will be judged on goals. He got 31 last season for outcome. This

:20:12. > :20:16.is the part of the game that has been decent. -- for AZ Alkmaar.

:20:17. > :20:21.Players running past. Should actually score. If they can get it

:20:22. > :20:28.into him today then that will help. But he needs a goal. This is the

:20:29. > :20:32.type of game that should work him. There will be chances for him and

:20:33. > :20:36.you still get the feeling that the crowd are willing him to do well and

:20:37. > :20:40.wanting him to do well, because they are sticking with him. There are the

:20:41. > :20:45.two sides about to go out, how do you see it going, Jermaine Gresham

:20:46. > :20:48.mark it is not Tottenham has my full strength side but there are still a

:20:49. > :20:56.lot of good players in there. I think it will be tight. I think

:20:57. > :21:00.without Harry Kane and Dele Alli on the side will do a bit more

:21:01. > :21:04.confidence. Villa would love to take them back to Villa Park. If they can

:21:05. > :21:10.get away here with a draw, met nobly wants an extra game but it would be

:21:11. > :21:14.a great result for Villa. Gabby Adcock law stops today, a bit of

:21:15. > :21:21.pressure on him, Alan Hutton as well, there are a couple of seniors

:21:22. > :21:27.who say -- Agbonlahor starts today. With the changes even, Tottenham

:21:28. > :21:31.should have too much for them. The fans inside the stadium looking

:21:32. > :21:35.expectantly, waiting for the action. The two teams are gathering in the

:21:36. > :21:37.tunnel so it is time to hand over to our commentary team of Danny Nephi

:21:38. > :21:48.and Steve Wilson. COMMENTATOR: Thank you, Gary. Who's

:21:49. > :21:54.to our cup royalty in the history of the competition, reaching the final

:21:55. > :22:02.22 times between them, Villa 11 finals to Spurs nine. Lifting the

:22:03. > :22:07.trophy a combined 15 times. Spurs lead that contest 8-7. Every time

:22:08. > :22:13.Tottenham line-up in that tunnel, they are crossing off one more much

:22:14. > :22:17.until they leave this, the home of 118 years. There are a maximum of a

:22:18. > :22:20.dozen more games to play at White Hart Lane after today, and if they

:22:21. > :22:25.lose today it will be the last ever cup tie on this ground. Spurs are

:22:26. > :22:33.playing their Europa League fixtures at Wembley, not here. But it is a

:22:34. > :22:37.competition with which both clubs are deeply associated, and ingrained

:22:38. > :22:55.into the history of the FA Cup. The building site in way behind the

:22:56. > :23:02.Park Lane end of the game grows at an almost shocking rate. Every time

:23:03. > :23:05.you come here, that new stadium gets a little bigger and a little more

:23:06. > :23:21.impressive, it is going to be some place. In goal for Spurs today,

:23:22. > :23:27.Michel Vorm, the patient is able deputy to Hugo Lloris. Cameron

:23:28. > :23:36.Carter-Vickers, his dad wasn't NBA basketball player. Janssen, top

:23:37. > :23:43.scorer in Holland last season, has not done it yet in England. Only two

:23:44. > :23:50.of that 11 started the midweek victory over Chelsea. In goal for

:23:51. > :23:55.Villa, Sam Johnstone, signed on loan from just united on Thursday, his

:23:56. > :23:59.eighth loan spell away from Old Trafford. His first senior game

:24:00. > :24:04.enormously year. At the back, former Spurs full-back Alan Hutton. James

:24:05. > :24:10.Chester played every minute of every game for Wales in Euro 2016. Mile

:24:11. > :24:16.Jedinak played in the cup final last May for Crystal Palace, Grealish the

:24:17. > :24:27.creator, and Gabby Agbonlahor, now 30, wants a real England contender,

:24:28. > :24:30.scorer of just one goal in the last two years at Aston Villa. Steve

:24:31. > :24:43.Bruce, FA Cup winner on three occasions with Manchester United.

:24:44. > :24:52.Morros your del -- Mauricio Pinilla -- Pochettino has won the Copa del

:24:53. > :24:57.Rey in Spain. Dele Alli possibly the most inform player in England. Talk

:24:58. > :25:04.about talks about, there is Mike Dean, who is in charge today.

:25:05. > :25:12.So, Danny Murphy, they've won the cup enough times in the history,

:25:13. > :25:18.these two. Spurs would be contenders to do so again. Indeed, yeah. So

:25:19. > :25:21.where is what they are trying to achieve in this club. Really looking

:25:22. > :25:24.forward to seeing harrowing simmer flesh. He has done himself really

:25:25. > :25:33.well to establish himself in this squad. For the love, Grealish is a

:25:34. > :25:40.talent who probably has not -- for Villa who has not fulfilled his

:25:41. > :25:43.potential. Strange but true fact, Tottenham in the white and blue from

:25:44. > :25:49.right-to-left have now won who played in an FA Cup final, Aston

:25:50. > :25:55.Villa's 11 contains seven players who have been involved in FA Cup

:25:56. > :25:58.finals. James Chester scored in one for Hull against Arsenal, but none

:25:59. > :26:03.of those seven have won the cup. When the Villa players get their

:26:04. > :26:10.medals out, I am afraid they are mostly losers medals. Baker with a

:26:11. > :26:18.header for Villa and Spurs with a throw. They were struggling down the

:26:19. > :26:24.wrong end of the Championship when he took over, Steve Bruce. They are

:26:25. > :26:30.12th as they stand, Aston Villa, he has improved. -- he has improved

:26:31. > :26:52.them. Trippier for Spurs. Son beaten to it by Tshibola,

:26:53. > :27:00.Sissoko trying to muscle his way through. Jedinak and Amavi forward.

:27:01. > :27:05.Well won in the end by Cameron Carter-Vickers, he is very highly

:27:06. > :27:08.rated, the teenager. He was on the bench for a couple of United States

:27:09. > :27:14.World Cup qualifying matches in the autumn. Yet to actually make his

:27:15. > :27:16.first appearance for the US senior team, but very much part of the

:27:17. > :27:31.squad. Here's Trippier. He has had to be

:27:32. > :27:36.patient, but he had an outstanding game against Watford the other week.

:27:37. > :27:40.Well, he did, and his crossing ability was therefore to see. I

:27:41. > :27:44.remember when he was at Burnley, the amount of assist the got from good

:27:45. > :27:48.crosses, you could argue he is better in the final third van Kyle

:27:49. > :27:53.Walker. Obviously Walker has that tremendous pace and athleticism that

:27:54. > :27:59.keeps it in the side ahead of him, but he certainly has quality when he

:28:00. > :28:09.gets up there. One or two young faces in this part and side, the

:28:10. > :28:10.likes of Eric Dier and Alderweireld will be like comfort blankets for

:28:11. > :28:29.them. Spurs so far have enjoyed almost

:28:30. > :28:36.exclusive possession of the round thing. Yeah, looks like Gabby

:28:37. > :28:49.problem will be up there on his own. -- Gabby Agbonlahor. Almost

:28:50. > :28:54.impossible to overstate what a disastrous season it was for Aston

:28:55. > :29:05.Villa. Agbonlahor really reclaiming his career. A terrific run. Sissoko

:29:06. > :29:09.carried that a good 40 yards. Something we don't see enough of

:29:10. > :29:17.him. He prefers playing centrally but he has this power and ability to

:29:18. > :29:24.go past people. Really strong. Especially in central areas, if he

:29:25. > :29:33.can get on the ball and really kill at Villa. He takes some stopping

:29:34. > :29:40.once he gets going, Moussa Sissoko. He has not shown his best really for

:29:41. > :29:45.Spurs yet. Amavi climbing for Aston Villa. Actually, it is Bacuna, I

:29:46. > :30:00.begged his pardon. Finding Albert Adomah here. Ben

:30:01. > :30:28.Davies for Spurs. Tshibola one of the summer signings

:30:29. > :30:44.- came from Reading. Spurs goal kick. I was at Villa Park

:30:45. > :30:49.when they drew with Leeds and the atmosphere at the club is

:30:50. > :30:54.transformed from last year. There is a feel good factor and he is one of

:30:55. > :30:57.the main reasons. Yes, he has that experience of the Championship. He

:30:58. > :31:01.has taken teams up before. The question mark is why didn't they go

:31:02. > :31:03.for him from the beginning of the season? Certainly lifted spirit

:31:04. > :31:14.there is, that is for sure. 66 times Alan Hutton turned out for

:31:15. > :31:33.Spurs. The fans living on past glories at

:31:34. > :31:41.the moment, with songs about being champions of Europe! Making the

:31:42. > :31:47.point that is something Spurs fans cannot sing. Actually they're making

:31:48. > :33:00.the prediction that Spurs fans will never be able to say it!

:33:01. > :33:10.Alderweireld unable to find Davies. That is unlike him. Arguably the

:33:11. > :33:16.best passer as a central defender from the Premier League, very good

:33:17. > :33:19.coming out with the ball. Difficult for Spurs, Villa's wide men are

:33:20. > :33:22.tracking the wing-backs and ending up with a back six. Very hard to get

:33:23. > :33:33.behind that. Spurs have made sure that the

:33:34. > :33:42.capacity at the new stadium will be just a bit more than Arsenal's!

:33:43. > :33:50.A good ball but too high for Janssen. Flag was up any way against

:33:51. > :33:55.Janssen. He just desperately needs a goal. He has scored three penalties,

:33:56. > :34:01.but nothing from open play. No, he has struggled. I have seen him a few

:34:02. > :34:08.times, I agree with the lads who were talking about his mobility. He

:34:09. > :34:11.has a decent touch, but he had that chance with Palace where he missed

:34:12. > :34:17.it and that could have been different for him. They do need more

:34:18. > :34:24.from him and their other summer signings. Sissoko, ?30 million and

:34:25. > :34:43.can't seem to find a place in the starting XI.

:34:44. > :34:55.Adomah just got his foot in. It is a Villa throw.

:34:56. > :35:02.Strangely Spurs have on the FA Cup eight times and four times of those

:35:03. > :35:08.eight years they beat Villa on the way. So if they can do so again, it

:35:09. > :35:13.might be an omen for them. You never know. These fans crave some

:35:14. > :35:18.silverware. They have always filled the stadium. They have had some

:35:19. > :35:21.troubled years. And now the positivity at the club, the talent

:35:22. > :35:23.at the club, everything moving forward, the stadium, the training

:35:24. > :35:45.ground is fantastic. Villa work hard without the ball at

:35:46. > :36:06.the moment. You may remember Agbonlahor's last

:36:07. > :36:12.game on this ground, November 2015, Spurs beat Villa at the start of

:36:13. > :36:15.that terrible relegation season. Agbonlahor was substituted at

:36:16. > :36:19.half-time, having touched the ball in the first 45 minutes in which he

:36:20. > :36:29.played just eight times. Two of which were to kick off after

:36:30. > :36:39.Tottenham scored! Son tried to get it through to Davies. Good pressing

:36:40. > :36:47.that from Trippier, trying to set some tempo. On the front foot. It is

:36:48. > :36:56.a bit lethargic at the moment a bit one-paced in the game. When you're

:36:57. > :37:00.in the position of a Trippier, a Wimmer, a Sissoko, you have to make

:37:01. > :37:03.the most of any opportunity you get, because you know you may not get

:37:04. > :37:19.another one. One of three o'clock kick offs

:37:20. > :37:29.today, across London at Stamford Bridge, it is Chelsea 3,

:37:30. > :37:37.Peterborough 0. Janssen for Spurs, drilled into a good area. Bacuna was

:37:38. > :37:39.there. If he had missed it, then Trippier was waiting. Better from

:37:40. > :37:49.Janssen. Grealish taking it from Son and then

:37:50. > :38:29.just caught Grealish. Strange that James Chester never got

:38:30. > :38:34.much of a look in at West Brom. Yes, I agree, he is a good defender,

:38:35. > :38:39.solid, good in the air, strong in the tackle. Wearing the captain's

:38:40. > :38:52.arm band at Villa these days. You can actually see from our

:38:53. > :38:57.position up here, now narrow the Villa back four is and those wide

:38:58. > :39:03.men dropping and sticking with the wing-backs. Spurs need some runners

:39:04. > :39:10.to get behind. That is where Dele Alli is so good. He is brilliant at

:39:11. > :39:15.making the runs behind defences. There he is, can't stop scoring at

:39:16. > :39:21.the moment, Dele Alli. Wonderful player.

:39:22. > :39:26.Probably didn't want to be rested either. You never do when you're

:39:27. > :39:31.playing well. Especially when you have got goals in you. The manager

:39:32. > :39:37.knows best. He has all the medical reports and the rest of it. And Dele

:39:38. > :39:44.Alli sits and watches for the moment. He has the potential and

:39:45. > :39:52.Mauricio Pochettino was talking about this week, or he was asked

:39:53. > :39:56.about it any way, here is Agbonlahor, behind Alderweireld.

:39:57. > :40:01.Dier was there to keep it from Grealish and Trippier with the

:40:02. > :40:06.clearance up to Janssen. The free kick goes against the Tottenham man.

:40:07. > :40:12.Good play from Agbonlahor. Nobody with him. Did well and nice and

:40:13. > :40:20.strong against Alderweireld. He looks p and there is no one there.

:40:21. > :40:28.That is a free kick. Sissoko disappointed. Going back to Alli and

:40:29. > :40:33.Mauricio Pochettino said not only could he become a key England

:40:34. > :40:41.player, but perhaps England's best player. The England national team's

:40:42. > :40:45.best player. High praise indeed. He's wonderful talent. But he has

:40:46. > :40:49.got to keep working hard and keep listening to his coaches and not get

:40:50. > :40:54.carried away and he has got every chance of being a top class England

:40:55. > :40:58.international. That is for sure. Spurs at the moment lacking a bit of

:40:59. > :41:06.direction. Certainly that ball forward was lacking direction. It is

:41:07. > :41:09.a goal kick to Aston Villa. After that wonderful win against Chelsea

:41:10. > :41:17.and that performance, next game could always be a little bit flat. I

:41:18. > :41:24.know he has mixed the players up, but from the supporters' point of

:41:25. > :41:32.view as well. Sam Johnstone on his Aston Villa debut untroubled so far

:41:33. > :41:38.in their goal. He has been all over the place, from Manchester United in

:41:39. > :41:40.various loan spells from Preston to Yeovil, but Aston Villa represent ps

:41:41. > :41:55.his biggest club I would say. That is a good ball. Davies behind,

:41:56. > :42:02.but the flag was up. He had just gone too soon. The passing abilities

:42:03. > :42:10.of Alderweireld. He sees it. That is the type of run they need. I think

:42:11. > :42:14.he is just off. Probably the right decision. But good run from Davies

:42:15. > :43:07.there. Some pace about this counter and

:43:08. > :43:11.then the touch from Janssen. He turns to look to Harry Winks. Maybe

:43:12. > :43:16.it was too tight. But there was no danger in the end. That was positive

:43:17. > :43:25.from Winks. Strong running with the ball. Trying to make something

:43:26. > :43:39.happen. Push by Carter-Vickers on Agbonlahor.

:43:40. > :43:52.A bit silly that from Carter-Vickers. This gives Villa the

:43:53. > :43:57.chance to get Jedinak forward. Spurs have pulled everybody back. Davies I

:43:58. > :44:07.think was aware that Hutton was coming in behind. It is a Villa

:44:08. > :44:09.corner. Clever idea, late run from Hutton, drilled ball. Good spot from

:44:10. > :44:32.Davies. A good header from Dier who, got a

:44:33. > :44:37.blow in the back from Baker. Hence the free kick. A great ball in.

:44:38. > :44:41.Whipped in a good area from Grealish. You would expect somebody

:44:42. > :44:48.to be competing there for the header.

:44:49. > :45:11.We are in the third round of the FA Cup today and Middlesbrough have the

:45:12. > :45:16.lead through Grant Leadbitter against Sheffield Wednesday. 1-0.

:45:17. > :45:20.Liverpool earlier held by Plymouth at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp made 11

:45:21. > :45:50.changes. Fulham are through with a win at Cardiff.

:45:51. > :46:23.Everyone back in the Villa half. Really hard to break through. Packed

:46:24. > :46:37.defence, but someone's got to find something, a bit of skill.

:46:38. > :46:51.Free kick in a good position too. That's what I'm talking about, a

:46:52. > :46:56.good bit of skill. Yes, free kick. He is one of our own, that is the

:46:57. > :47:01.song that has been lent by Harry Kane the Harry winks for the

:47:02. > :47:09.occasion. He is indeed an academy boy. Five in white in the Villa area

:47:10. > :47:17.here and Sam Johnstone could have caught that, he chose to punch. Yes,

:47:18. > :47:22.I'm not sure about the punching when nobody is around you. I understand

:47:23. > :47:26.in a crowd sometimes. It's just a personal preference thing, isn't it,

:47:27. > :47:30.sometimes, with goalkeepers, some like to put a fist through it.

:47:31. > :47:35.Others don't. The rain might be playing a factor in that possibly.

:47:36. > :47:38.Almost halfway through this first half and Tottenham Hotspur have

:47:39. > :47:43.enjoyed the lion's share of possession without giving Villa's

:47:44. > :48:25.debut at and goalkeeper very much to do.

:48:26. > :48:32.He was fouled by Alan Hutton. It is a free kick. He has got to stay

:48:33. > :48:37.high, Janssen. You don't need him back there. Got to try and stretch

:48:38. > :48:50.the pitch. A clear fouled by Jedinak.

:48:51. > :48:54.Winks, good idea, well cut out by Chester. Sissoko was in a good

:48:55. > :49:30.position and nearly found. Davies offering width. Sissoko to

:49:31. > :49:33.Dier. It was a good idea. Bacuna and Adomah are being really disciplined

:49:34. > :49:37.in their roles this afternoon. They have been given the job of sticking

:49:38. > :49:42.with the wingbacks, no matter what the back four do, no passing on. He

:49:43. > :49:45.matched that run another way, Bacuna. You think you would be

:49:46. > :49:57.reasonably happy at moment, Steve Bruce. 24 minutes played, no great

:49:58. > :50:07.alarms. That's nice, Sissoko on the Eric Dier, Janssen and Son in the

:50:08. > :50:10.middle. This possessed I Villa's Grealish. Fair play to Janssen, who

:50:11. > :50:25.has won it back. The game falls back into that

:50:26. > :50:30.pattern again of Spurs possession. They possibly could afford to take

:50:31. > :51:25.more risks in possession, Spurs, in their endeavours to unpick Villa.

:51:26. > :51:32.Spent a lot of money on Janssen. Sometimes when you buy a striker

:51:33. > :51:38.from Dutch football, you don't know if you are getting a van Nistelrooy

:51:39. > :51:42.because God was to come a bit more cheaply in Holland. When I was at

:51:43. > :51:48.Fulham, we signed Bryan Ruiz, who was the top scorer that year, he

:51:49. > :51:49.didn't quite hit the same heights. Baker got a good touch. Sissoko in

:51:50. > :52:19.the attack. Grealish is there. Leandro Bacuna is off the pitch at

:52:20. > :52:24.the moment for Aston Villa getting some treatment. He has had to his

:52:25. > :52:29.feet, wants to get back on, and Eric Dier bundled into the back of Jack

:52:30. > :52:36.Grealish. Villa free kick. He will come back on now, Bacuna, and

:52:37. > :52:43.receive the ball. Agbonlahor has not quite got the legs to reach that.

:52:44. > :52:45.Good defending a minute ago from Baker, in an one-on-one position

:52:46. > :53:13.with Son. News from Stamford Bridge, John

:53:14. > :53:30.Terry has been sent off. Chelsea still leading 3-0.

:53:31. > :53:42.Jedinak having to turn quickly. Grealish. Has Jedinak left it for

:53:43. > :53:43.him. Adomah. Not selected by Ghana, Adomah, for the African cup of

:53:44. > :54:11.Nations. Bacuna is capable, certainly from

:54:12. > :54:15.set pieces. Eight had ambitious from there. He has got a good strike on

:54:16. > :54:22.him normally but no problem, that ball -- a tad ambitious. Probably

:54:23. > :54:50.happy for something to do. Given away a bit carelessly by Aston

:54:51. > :54:51.Villa, and Steve Bruce is letting Amavi know what he thought about

:54:52. > :55:04.that. Nicholls has a goal back for

:55:05. > :55:10.Peterborough at Chelsea in the three o'clock kick-offs. 3-1, Chelsea. And

:55:11. > :55:16.Negredo for Middlesbrough, they are 2-0 up against Sheffield Wednesday.

:55:17. > :55:20.Villa have a free kick here. Why couldn't he let that go just for a

:55:21. > :55:24.couple of seconds and play the advantage? Literally a second, two

:55:25. > :55:39.seconds, it's gone. A poor decision, that.

:55:40. > :55:53.This is a free kick in a good position and Grealish and Amavi are

:55:54. > :56:01.over it. Inside that Tottenham penalty area, half an hour played,

:56:02. > :56:05.FA Cup third round, Spurs 0-0 Villa. Grealish with the delivery, it is a

:56:06. > :56:10.good one. Adomah, can he keep it in play, he has. Chester rather took

:56:11. > :56:12.that away from Baker as they both try to get a head on it. Pressure on

:56:13. > :56:36.the Spurs goal. Their best spell, I would say.

:56:37. > :56:41.Grealish might think about the shot. It needed to come off his left, and

:56:42. > :56:50.it didn't. Worth a go, much better from Villa. They look a danger on

:56:51. > :57:00.the set plays. A bit wild on his left foot there, Grealish. The flag

:57:01. > :57:14.of the assistant goes up. It is a better run from Sissoko,

:57:15. > :57:21.trying to get in behind. Good defending. Want to see more from

:57:22. > :57:29.him, using that athleticism he has got, that power. Daniel Levy just in

:57:30. > :57:53.front there. The man who used to sit in Daniel

:57:54. > :57:58.Levy's seat years ago got Spurs reinstated in FA the Cup after they

:57:59. > :58:03.were thrown out of it years ago, Alan Sugar. Showing your age there,

:58:04. > :58:16.I don't remember that one. You do! You must do. No, I am old, you're

:58:17. > :58:22.right. I actually spoke to him on the phone when I left Crewe

:58:23. > :58:25.Alexandra to go to Liverpool. At that point there was only one team

:58:26. > :58:49.for me, but he seemed like a gentleman.

:58:50. > :59:02.Deflected on its way behind, Spurs corner, and that is their first of

:59:03. > :59:12.the game. There is flawed of Apprentice fame. David Pleat sitting

:59:13. > :59:19.in front of Tottenham Hotspur fame. Corner kick goes up, Alderweireld

:59:20. > :59:23.missed it, Dier didn't but did not get any direction on it. Doesn't

:59:24. > :59:30.half get some whip and place on those balls, Trippier. Really

:59:31. > :59:33.whizzes it in there. He has a great right foot, and there he is winning

:59:34. > :59:39.it from Bacuna, finding Son, you want it back, Trippier. Bacuna is

:59:40. > :00:01.happy, he lost out to Trippier. Around ten minutes of this first

:00:02. > :00:26.half to go. Goalless. Giving it everything Davies, but

:00:27. > :00:31.couldn't reach it. It is hard finding the balance between when to

:00:32. > :00:36.try the long balls and when to be patient. Villa end up with a back

:00:37. > :00:41.six when Tottenham are up the pitch. It is quite negative in many ways. I

:00:42. > :00:46.thought they would have a bit more of a go against a weakened Tottenham

:00:47. > :00:51.side. Maybe they will in the second half as the game goes on. No lack of

:00:52. > :01:32.effort from Davies to reach it. In the ten previous meetings, six to

:01:33. > :01:42.four. A League Cup final. A Martin Chifers goal won it for Spurs. -

:01:43. > :01:50.Chivers. Davies with the ball in. No one in white there. It was behind

:01:51. > :02:02.Janssen and too far in front of Season. Son. Can Spurs whip up a bit

:02:03. > :02:32.of tempo in the last few minutes of the first half?

:02:33. > :02:38.Got to really move that ball quickly when you have got a packed defence.

:02:39. > :03:03.Sharp and one or two touch. It is a patient game Spurs are

:03:04. > :03:04.playing. You have a feeling that eventually their theoretical extra

:03:05. > :03:23.quality will count. Janssen in behind and into the

:03:24. > :03:29.keeper's gloves. He has got to do better. He is in a great position.

:03:30. > :03:33.Good ball, good run, gets in a dangerous area and just rushes it.

:03:34. > :03:54.Poor that is. This is Amavi with the three for

:03:55. > :03:57.Aston Villa. Wouldn't bet against the Aston Villa getting in the

:03:58. > :04:01.play-offs in the Championships. Their performances of late have

:04:02. > :04:08.dipped a bit. But results are still hanging in there. Gone from 19th

:04:09. > :04:12.when Steve Bruce took over to 12th. It is pretty congested. At the top

:04:13. > :04:21.of that table, anything can happen at this stage. They had a crowd of

:04:22. > :04:27.just under 42,000 for a home game with Burton Albion. That tells you

:04:28. > :04:35.something about the club. It tells you they're enjoying what they're

:04:36. > :04:37.watching again. Yeah. And they have given themselves a mountain to climb

:04:38. > :05:03.after their disastrous start. Last season it felt like Villa had

:05:04. > :05:08.more managers than they had accumulated points, it got so bad!

:05:09. > :05:23.It is not going to right itself over night.

:05:24. > :05:35.Good turn by Winks. A tussle with Tshibola and the Villa man won it

:05:36. > :05:46.and Davies has come away with the ball. It looked like a foul on

:05:47. > :05:49.Tshibola. Spurs corner. Seemed to make his mind up Ben Davies that he

:05:50. > :05:53.was not going to lose that challenge. That was better from

:05:54. > :06:31.Janssen. Quicker feet, good little ball.

:06:32. > :06:40.Trippier trying to sneak in behind Bacuna. It is becoming a bit

:06:41. > :06:49.predictable that diagonal, the wing-backs see it coming. Spurs need

:06:50. > :06:59.to up the tempo. Brian Little there. A hero for Villa as a player and a

:07:00. > :07:17.being. Ian Taylor, an athletic, good midfielder.

:07:18. > :07:34.Been promoted into the Premier League four times as a manager. That

:07:35. > :07:40.will give Villa fans hope. It is a wonderful record. Very difficult to

:07:41. > :07:46.do that at different clubs. They seem to have forgotten that he

:07:47. > :07:52.managed Birmingham City in a way they couldn't remember Alex McLeish

:07:53. > :08:04.has managed Birmingham City. It is winning games, isn't it. Son and

:08:05. > :08:10.well covered and almost off Amavi into his own net. Gets a bit of luck

:08:11. > :08:14.with with the ricochet. Amavi gets back in and does well actually to

:08:15. > :08:24.stab it away. Gets a bit of luck. Closest Spurs have come.

:08:25. > :08:32.Spurs have to settle for a throw. From the angle he was at, Amavi

:08:33. > :08:37.always knew that was not going to end up in the back of net. From the

:08:38. > :08:39.angle many of us were looking at it, it looked like it had a chance of

:08:40. > :08:59.doing so. Ben Davies, very good player, but he

:09:00. > :09:04.has got to continue to believe that he can get ahead of Danny Rose in

:09:05. > :09:09.the team, the same for Trippier about Walker. It is a big ask to do

:09:10. > :09:13.that. Everyone is different in their mentality. He will have belief, but

:09:14. > :09:17.there will come a point where he will want to be first choice and at

:09:18. > :09:23.least there should come a point where a player will want to play

:09:24. > :09:40.every week. And not settle for a handful of games.

:09:41. > :09:47.Agbonlahor is very much ploughing a lone furrow up there. It is a job he

:09:48. > :09:53.is putting his back into. I thought that was a corner. He thought that

:09:54. > :10:00.was a corner. It looked it first sight. Corner or? ? ? It was

:10:01. > :10:06.actually a poor touch. He made up the ground. Yeah, it's a corner. And

:10:07. > :10:20.Spurs launch an attack from that goal kick. Bacuna and Adomah have

:10:21. > :10:23.done well. They're more or less playing like full-backs. I'm sure

:10:24. > :10:30.they won't enjoy that, because they're wingers. We haven't seen

:10:31. > :10:36.them in the Spurs half. But great skill and talent from Adomah. The

:10:37. > :10:40.whistle blows exactly on 45 minutes. No added minutes at the end of first

:10:41. > :10:47.half and not much in the way of shots on goal either. Spurs have

:10:48. > :10:51.enjoyed the bulk of possession. But neither keeper has been un-Duley

:10:52. > :11:02.troubled -- unduly troubled and it is 0-0. Well that was a thrilling

:11:03. > :11:05.first half! End to end up. I'm overcome with excitement! It has

:11:06. > :11:10.been terrible. Can't get away from it. It has been awful. Villa have

:11:11. > :11:15.frustrated Tottenham, virtually playing six at the back. But Spurs

:11:16. > :11:20.haven't helped themselves, they have been slow in possession and not

:11:21. > :11:27.moved the ball quick enough and they're making it tough for them. In

:11:28. > :11:32.ways, Villa will be happy. Yes it is on Spurs to break them down. They're

:11:33. > :11:36.not moving it quick enough. Villa have a shape that is working for

:11:37. > :11:42.them and they look like they want set pieces. Get the free kicks and

:11:43. > :11:47.corners. But Spurs have been too ponderous on the ball and not enough

:11:48. > :11:52.movement. They have had it and kept it well, Spurs. As soon as they get

:11:53. > :11:56.into the final third they run out of ideas. In wide areas, they have not

:11:57. > :12:00.even made the crosses. The big lad up front is not having the best

:12:01. > :12:04.game. It is interesting when you see people make changes for these

:12:05. > :12:07.matches, bringing in different players and you look at Spurs and

:12:08. > :12:11.you think, actually they have got quite a big squad. It shows the

:12:12. > :12:20.difference between the ones in the first team. That is the frustrating

:12:21. > :12:26.thing, I expected to see a rampant Spurs after that great win. But they

:12:27. > :12:34.have got to pick up the pace. I don't think it would have been 0-0

:12:35. > :12:40.if Kane or Alli or Dembele were playing. There is nobody in that

:12:41. > :12:45.side that is pulling the strings. A lot of talk about Janssen and how he

:12:46. > :12:50.has struggled to settle in, hasn't scored from open play. There are a

:12:51. > :12:54.few signs as to why. He is making it too easy for defenders. Watch his

:12:55. > :12:58.movement. He comes towards the ball. No, don't come towards the ball. Get

:12:59. > :13:04.yourself in the six yard box where you're going to score. That is the

:13:05. > :13:07.easy way out. It looks as if he is frightened to miss chances. To be

:13:08. > :13:14.fair to him, the service has not been very good. That is a long

:13:15. > :13:21.aimless ball. Tries to run in behind. Comes out wide again and it

:13:22. > :13:29.is if same thing again. If he keeps on coming out wide, watch he should

:13:30. > :13:34.be getting in there. He is going towards the ball and that is one

:13:35. > :13:38.reason why he has not scored from open play and it doesn't look as if

:13:39. > :13:43.he has the confidence from his team-mates. Son should be putting

:13:44. > :13:48.the ball through. There is not a space, but he must be demanding it.

:13:49. > :13:53.Unless he starts getting into the box, he is not go to score. It is

:13:54. > :14:00.interesting, when, if your confidence is low and you're not

:14:01. > :14:04.scoring to back away from that, it xas wait -- exacerbates it. Yes and

:14:05. > :14:09.it makes it look worse. He is using his energy in the wrong areas. He is

:14:10. > :14:14.wide left and right and he is chasing the ball back. He has to do

:14:15. > :14:18.what Al said, stay in the middle. Let everyone else do that and get

:14:19. > :14:25.them to serve you. Put the ball in the box. For Aston Villa they have a

:14:26. > :14:30.plan and so far they will be happy. There is no way Steve Bruce was

:14:31. > :14:35.going to come and play expansive football. The back four play very

:14:36. > :14:41.close to each other. The back four are in the box and with Adomah and

:14:42. > :14:47.Bacuna, it makes it a back six. Davies does well to get any type of

:14:48. > :14:51.ball in. That is what has played into Spurs being ponderous. They're

:14:52. > :14:58.trying to get Villa to come out of these areas, trying to craw -- draw

:14:59. > :15:04.them out. But Villa are not budging. How do you overcome a side that just

:15:05. > :15:12.plays that deep? What Spurs are missing f you look at the play ers

:15:13. > :15:19.who are not playing, the ones who can beat a player. Dembele will go

:15:20. > :15:21.by you and players like that and the structure changes. You can't play

:15:22. > :15:35.six at the back. By the time that happens, the Villa

:15:36. > :15:39.back six of got back into shape. Spurs will be training one and two

:15:40. > :15:43.touch, it will be high pricing, getting the ball moved quickly. Now

:15:44. > :15:48.they have lots of time to play and they are using that time. Never

:15:49. > :15:53.quick, do it like you do in training. They would have caused

:15:54. > :15:58.Villa more problems but they haven't. A long way to go, it can

:15:59. > :16:04.only get better. The people's cup is back for another season. On Saturday

:16:05. > :16:11.27th May, 90,000 people will fill this famous stadium for the FA Cup

:16:12. > :16:18.final and you could be one of them. Sign up your five a side team for

:16:19. > :16:22.the FA's People's cup, and you could be running out to the hallowed turf

:16:23. > :16:30.at half-time to collect your own trophy. Register now.

:16:31. > :16:54.We will see some of today's FA Cup goals in a moment.

:16:55. > :17:01.As we have mentioned, on the other side of the ground, Spurs are

:17:02. > :17:10.building a new 61,000 all-seater stadium, so this is the final season

:17:11. > :17:16.of the worldwide Hart Lane, and Aline is with one of the greats to

:17:17. > :17:19.have played him. Alan Mullery, a win in the 1967 cup final, great

:17:20. > :17:26.memories I am sure you have of playing here at White Hart Lane. I'm

:17:27. > :17:29.a bit upset about it, actually, because it has been here for

:17:30. > :17:34.literally a hundred years, I suppose, and to see so much success

:17:35. > :17:39.and everything else that went with it over the years, double winning

:17:40. > :17:43.side in the early 60s, always winning cup finals, league cups, FA

:17:44. > :17:47.Cup 's, and being in Europe, it has just been a fabulous stadium. Then

:17:48. > :17:51.my day they would have put 60,000 people in there, a lot of standing

:17:52. > :17:56.and things like this. So yes, we will miss it, but the new one, oh

:17:57. > :18:00.dear me. That is out of this world, it is like something built from

:18:01. > :18:04.elsewhere. It is just absolutely brilliant, looking forward to going

:18:05. > :18:07.in there now as well. Is is incredible that they are building it

:18:08. > :18:11.here why we are still in the stadium playing football matches. It looks

:18:12. > :18:17.fantastic, you must be excited but I'm sure it is tinged with a bit of

:18:18. > :18:20.sadness. The memories will always be here, no doubt, the new stadium,

:18:21. > :18:24.which will be magnificent, there will be lots of memories there that

:18:25. > :18:29.the younger players coming through. But this will always be home to me,

:18:30. > :18:32.White Hart Lane, on evening games and was marvellous, in Europe and

:18:33. > :18:36.things like that, and they will never be forgotten. And people

:18:37. > :18:42.before me as well that are still around. It has been a great place to

:18:43. > :18:45.play football. You mention some of the younger players that are here,

:18:46. > :18:49.it has been a little while since Tottenham lifted some software, the

:18:50. > :18:52.use of this current crop and the way the team is developing right now as

:18:53. > :18:55.the best chance that Spurs have the do it again? I would think so, I saw

:18:56. > :18:59.them last Wednesday and they outplayed Chelsea, and before that

:19:00. > :19:02.with Manchester City, they were going really well at the start of

:19:03. > :19:06.the season and they murdered Manchester City. If they can keep up

:19:07. > :19:10.that level of football they will have a great chance of catching

:19:11. > :19:14.Chelsea this season. A big 45 minutes left to come this afternoon,

:19:15. > :19:20.Alan, enjoy the rest of your afternoon. We can bring you some

:19:21. > :19:21.action now from some of the day's early cup games, starting at

:19:22. > :19:34.Anfield. COMMENTATOR: Up towards Origi, and

:19:35. > :19:39.he will get there, no, it is a foul. He has given the free kick. Last of

:19:40. > :19:44.the whistle halts the celebrations before they can really get going.

:19:45. > :19:48.Sony times over the years ties like this have been settled in the last

:19:49. > :19:55.five minutes, but goodness me here comes Jervis round the back! Forget

:19:56. > :19:59.the thought of a replay, he was thinking he could win it here. The

:20:00. > :20:04.delivery comes towards Sturridge and it was almost an own goal, I think.

:20:05. > :20:09.That is the last thing they would have wanted, an own goal. It hits,

:20:10. > :20:14.Smith, it could have gone in, it didn't. WHISTLE

:20:15. > :20:20.The referee calls time, it's an incredible result in FA Cup history!

:20:21. > :20:22.Plymouth Argyle, of the fourth tier of the English game, have held the

:20:23. > :20:37.mighty Liverpool at Anfield! Willian still going, diving in was a

:20:38. > :20:48.bit of space the Loftus-Cheek, Fabregas tries to place it. Pedro

:20:49. > :20:53.Wilkie at up now. 1-0 to Chelsea! -- Pedro will tee it up. Chelsea just

:20:54. > :20:58.would not be denied. Pedro gives them the lead. What a pass from

:20:59. > :21:09.Willian, and Ivanovic with lots of time, bags of support, Loftus-Cheek,

:21:10. > :21:15.back sure why, by chance, 2-0. A casual finish from Batshuayi, who

:21:16. > :21:20.just dispatched it. Willian will go for Galan will find the back of the

:21:21. > :21:29.net to increase chosen's leads to 3-0, and you have to say this

:21:30. > :21:36.Chelsea Di FA Cup third-round tie looks done dusted. John Terry goes

:21:37. > :21:43.down in front of him, John Terry pleads with the referee, and it is a

:21:44. > :21:50.straight red card. For Chelsea's captain on his return to the first

:21:51. > :21:55.team. Forrester. They decent spell this for Peterborough. They have got

:21:56. > :22:08.a goal! Peterborough have a goal. Tom Nichols was there. In to Pedro.

:22:09. > :22:13.Pedro, lovely goal. It is his second of the afternoon, Chelsea's fourth,

:22:14. > :22:22.and their 3-goal lead is restored at 4-1.

:22:23. > :22:33.It is Pilkington, and he scores! And it looks ever so cool. Took a

:22:34. > :22:43.deflection but Anthony Pilkington won't complain. Frederick to take on

:22:44. > :22:50.Bennett. Driven home by Johannson, who does celebrate his birthday with

:22:51. > :22:57.the equaliser. Frederick 's is haring down that far side again.

:22:58. > :23:06.Cuts in on Bennett. Still going. Oh, and it has hit the bar and it is

:23:07. > :23:07.turned in and there is no offside flag, and Ryan Sessegnon scores

:23:08. > :23:19.against Cardiff City again. Blimey, was that game played behind

:23:20. > :23:29.closed doors? Hardly anyone watching, was there?

:23:30. > :23:35.I have a bit of information here, that is the first time in 5.5 years

:23:36. > :23:41.that Tottenham only had one shot in the first 45 minutes of the game. On

:23:42. > :23:44.that occasion though they went on to win 7-5, actually I made that bit

:23:45. > :23:48.up! LAUGHTER Just keeping people with us. But

:23:49. > :23:52.they have got to do better in the second half, surely, when it opens

:23:53. > :23:56.up a little bit? Yes, they have to start the second half with a bit of

:23:57. > :24:01.intent, energy and a bit of pace to their game, Tottenham. One and two

:24:02. > :24:06.touch football to try and dislodge that Villa back six as it has been.

:24:07. > :24:09.I am sure that is what the manager will have been saying at half-time,

:24:10. > :24:14.Steve Bruce to his players will say more of the same. Keep frustrating

:24:15. > :24:17.them and hope for a set piece. Dele Alli might come on at some point,

:24:18. > :24:26.get those runs into the box, get them a goal. He has some options. He

:24:27. > :24:30.could put Son through the middle. But I am with owl, from Steve

:24:31. > :24:34.Bruce's point of view, they will be happy. They will be delighted, it is

:24:35. > :24:41.all down to Spurs now, all about Tottenham and how they break down.

:24:42. > :24:44.Because Villa's back six point break down. If they can get a draw and go

:24:45. > :24:52.back to Villa Park, they will be happy. Steve Bruce said before the

:24:53. > :24:55.game, you have to try to frustrate Tottenham, that is exactly what his

:24:56. > :24:59.team have done so he will be delighted with his team's

:25:00. > :25:05.performance. As for Tottenham, here they come the second half. I suppose

:25:06. > :25:11.in many Pochettino will be looking for... How does he spice it up? He

:25:12. > :25:14.will have had to have asked some of his players some questions, because

:25:15. > :25:18.a fewer of them have been put out to impress, to give themselves

:25:19. > :25:23.opportunities to be seen as part of a squad that is chasing a title. And

:25:24. > :25:28.one or two of them are not really answering those questions they need

:25:29. > :25:31.to step up in that second half. OK, Steve Bruce is having a laugh with

:25:32. > :25:37.one of the officials, it seems, and he is happy with them so far, let's

:25:38. > :25:39.hope for a bit more entertainment in the second half, with Danny Murphy

:25:40. > :25:52.and Steve Wilson. COMMENTATOR: No changes in the

:25:53. > :25:56.second half so far, this year Pochettino will be a little bit

:25:57. > :26:00.concerned by the first 45, because with Europa League football to

:26:01. > :26:05.content with, a push for the title in the Premier League and all the

:26:06. > :26:11.rest of it, these are players he is likely to be calling upon in what

:26:12. > :26:14.remains of the season, and in the first 45 minutes, they have not done

:26:15. > :26:18.a great deal for their case. Anyway, can Spurs go on and do more in the

:26:19. > :26:25.second half, or is it more of the same and more frustration? Well

:26:26. > :26:31.maybe Aston Villa might even lick themselves a lead, and then we'll

:26:32. > :26:36.see what Spurs look like. It hasn't looked likely in the first half, but

:26:37. > :26:40.you never know. An obvious change, Sissoko is high and left, giving

:26:41. > :26:49.them a bit more width. Alderweireld on the ball. Carter-Vickers forward

:26:50. > :26:59.to Son, anticipated the run by Amavi, it bounced off Winks. Janssen

:27:00. > :27:02.using his body to turn Amavi. In towards Son, back to Janssen. He

:27:03. > :27:08.didn't hesitate, he got the shot away. Straight into the goalkeeper's

:27:09. > :27:14.midriff, as it happens. Nice and strong here, little give and go. Son

:27:15. > :27:21.did not get through the wall, 40 might set it outside the far post.

:27:22. > :27:27.-- threw the ball, he thought he might set it outside the far post.

:27:28. > :27:29.Here's Bacuna for Aston Villa. WHISTLE

:27:30. > :27:38.The first ever meeting between these two sides was an FA Cup tie on this

:27:39. > :27:46.ground, way back in 1903. Villa were winners on that occasion, 3-2. No

:27:47. > :27:59.sign of five goals yet, let alone the 12 that Gary Lineker was

:28:00. > :28:02.predicting. One would be nice. If Spurs were to score, obviously Villa

:28:03. > :28:06.would have to change their mentality and tactics, throw some men forward,

:28:07. > :28:18.open the game up. The ball did not drop inside the

:28:19. > :28:25.penalty area where Sam Johnstone would have preferred it, but he has

:28:26. > :28:28.dealt with it well enough. He never actually played for Manchester

:28:29. > :28:42.United's first team, Sam Johnstone, 23-year-old.

:28:43. > :29:09.Try to get the ball to Sissoko, high and wide, feeding the ball, let him

:29:10. > :29:15.get at Hutton. Into the feet of Janssen. Back to Davies, here is

:29:16. > :29:26.Sissoko in that wide position where he has taken up camp second half.

:29:27. > :29:32.Sissoko. Comfortably dealt with under no pressure underneath his bar

:29:33. > :29:34.by Sam Johnstone. It was a bit safe, on his week for it. Not particularly

:29:35. > :30:05.comfortable on his left. Grealish, he does move beautifully,

:30:06. > :30:09.doesn't he, Jack Grealish? There is an elegance about how he built over

:30:10. > :30:19.the pitch. Yes, very comfortable with the ball, glides past people,

:30:20. > :30:21.uses his body well. Given away by Patton to Winks -- by Alan Hutton.

:30:22. > :30:43.If you've Graham Evans there. Put into a decent area, but there

:30:44. > :30:46.wasn't anyone on hand to reach it. Bacuna has got Aston Villa a throw

:30:47. > :31:00.in. It was the highest we have seen

:31:01. > :31:04.Adomah. A decent ball. Great pace. Started the season playing in the

:31:05. > :31:06.Premier League for Middlesbrough. Sold on the very end of the transfer

:31:07. > :31:21.window to Aston Villa. Amavi with the three. Here is

:31:22. > :31:44.Adomah. Found Grealish. From a neutral point of view if

:31:45. > :31:45.Villa were to score, it would be like the Alamo, Spurs would throw

:31:46. > :31:53.everything at them. Chester getting caught in at least

:31:54. > :32:30.two minds! Trippier's ball in and Son can

:32:31. > :32:36.control it and then mishit it. In the context of this game that is a

:32:37. > :32:40.great chance. It is a great chance. Poor finish from Son, but what a

:32:41. > :32:44.cross. Talked about his quality earlier. Doesn't wait, gets the ball

:32:45. > :32:54.out of his feet and it is going in there. That is a brilliant ball. No

:32:55. > :32:59.conviction in that. Poor touch and then slashes at it. Strange, because

:33:00. > :33:02.he is having a good season, Son Heung-min. He has scored seven goals

:33:03. > :33:23.this campaign. Wimmer winning the throw. Reached

:33:24. > :33:26.the League Cup final in his first season as Tottenham manager,

:33:27. > :33:32.Mauricio Pochettino, losing to Chelsea. He has never been beyond

:33:33. > :33:45.round five in the FA Cup. Either with Southampton or Spurs.

:33:46. > :34:16.Spurs fans upping the noise level. Sissoko taking on Hutton.

:34:17. > :34:19.Grealish running into Winks. You feel there is a bit more pace about

:34:20. > :34:32.the game now. Janssen is in the middle. But so is

:34:33. > :34:39.Chester for Aston Villa. He did well. For the first time in the game

:34:40. > :34:43.there is some momentum. It was brilliant play from Winks, read the

:34:44. > :34:48.trick from Grealish, won it off him, carried the ball to the far corner.

:34:49. > :34:55.Just couldn't quite pick his man out. Telegraphed his pull back a

:34:56. > :35:00.bit. He is looking, who can I find? Chester reads that well. But a

:35:01. > :35:03.better game. It has taken 53 minutes, but it feels like a

:35:04. > :35:41.football match has just kicked off. Strong tackle that. He has done well

:35:42. > :35:43.Tshibola. Steady and strong, good with the ball, I have been

:35:44. > :36:05.impressed. Hutton has a problem with Sissoko,

:36:06. > :36:10.Adomah is picking up Davies. If you get the ball out to him, you would

:36:11. > :36:29.fancy him with his pace to cause a few problems.

:36:30. > :37:03.Janssen after this. Chester keeping a close eye on him. That was the

:37:04. > :37:08.demonstration of his lack of mobility. It was a good ball. He had

:37:09. > :37:17.to chase it and chase it. He only just got it.

:37:18. > :37:22.He is certainly trying hard enough. Just that lack of quality I'm

:37:23. > :37:56.afraid. Might have come off Trippier, yes it

:37:57. > :38:10.is going to be an Aston Villa throw in. Won't be long. Here he is, Dele

:38:11. > :38:13.Alli! Instructions are just go on and score a couple of goals. That is

:38:14. > :38:35.what you normally do. If Spurs can get themselves in front

:38:36. > :38:47.here they may rethink introducing Dele Alli.

:38:48. > :38:59.Trippier's delivery. They're claiming a corner, but they haven't

:39:00. > :39:06.got it. It is Baker I think matches his run. There is a hint of a shirt

:39:07. > :39:25.tug there as the ball was whipped in from Trippier.

:39:26. > :39:31.There is a real lack of threat when Dele Alli and Kane don't play for

:39:32. > :39:47.Spurs. Very reliant on those two. In a way isn't that inevitable when

:39:48. > :40:12.you have a couple of top, top class players? Yeah.

:40:13. > :40:20.Trippier just unable to keep that in play. Here we go. No huge surprise

:40:21. > :40:27.to see the No 9 raised. So Janssen is coming off and Dele Alli is

:40:28. > :40:38.coming on. Seven goals in his last four games. You have got to feel for

:40:39. > :40:54.Janssen a little bit. Certainly working hard enough.

:40:55. > :41:01.So Dele Alli is on for Tottenham, with half app hour to go -- an hour

:41:02. > :41:12.to go. Dele Alli loves to slot into that

:41:13. > :41:50.position behind the striker. That was unlucky. The goals are

:41:51. > :41:55.almost a bonus with Dele Alli, because he is so good at everything

:41:56. > :42:01.else. It is a great role for him, the one he plays normally. He has

:42:02. > :42:10.protection behind him of people like Wanyama and Dembele.

:42:11. > :42:16.Adomah's done well. Tshibola was waiting and Carter-Vickers took

:42:17. > :42:30.control. Grealish ran back a long way there

:42:31. > :42:35.to make the challenge on Sissoko. He did well. Adomah did well as well.

:42:36. > :42:59.Didn't quite pick out the right pass. But he is the threat.

:43:00. > :43:11.Son hits the shot and a really good save. Sam Johnstone with the save.

:43:12. > :43:20.Well hit by Son. It is a good turn. Got a bit tight there. Good strike

:43:21. > :43:25.as well. Terrific save. Sam Johnstone. Just checking on the

:43:26. > :43:33.keeper after this save, one or two of his team-mate avenues Mike Dean

:43:34. > :43:47.checking that he is OK. It was a good stop. Much better from Son.

:43:48. > :43:56.Important touch from Baker, who has gone down holding his back. Davies

:43:57. > :44:00.with the ball back in. Baker has a problem here for Villa. As

:44:01. > :44:07.Carter-Vickers heads wide. It was just on the landing. You see here, a

:44:08. > :44:15.good header. Just as he landed, something went in his back maybe as

:44:16. > :44:27.you said. He has done well this afternoon. Yeah. Just the way he

:44:28. > :44:35.landed, immediately it was holding the small of his back.

:44:36. > :44:49.It is a really good header, Alderweireld is waiting. Probably

:44:50. > :44:59.give it a few minutes, see how it is.

:45:00. > :45:06.Tommy Elphick, signed by Aston Villa from Bournemouth in the summer, is

:45:07. > :45:11.among their substitutes, with the possible replacement if required.

:45:12. > :45:16.Good to see Colin Calderwood there alongside Steve Bruce. Former

:45:17. > :45:20.Tottenham defender of course and has been on the coaching staff here. And

:45:21. > :45:26.a good addition I think for Steve Bruce. Plucked from Brighton, where

:45:27. > :45:31.he was assistant manager to another former Spurs old boy, Chris

:45:32. > :45:33.Houghton. He swapped a promotion campaign to take up the challenge

:45:34. > :45:47.with Steve Bruce at Villa. He is a top man actually Colin

:45:48. > :45:51.Calderwood. I think Brighton were sorry to see him go. The players

:45:52. > :46:09.enjoyed his coaching. Well thought of.

:46:10. > :46:15.You would think Tottenham don't want a replay, the amount of games they

:46:16. > :46:24.have coming up. It certainly would be more difficult going to Villa

:46:25. > :46:30.Park. They have a big Premier League game coming up in a couple of weeks

:46:31. > :46:34.at Manchester City. Grealish, for to Hutton, a chance, another chance,

:46:35. > :46:41.Agbonlahor blocked, Alderweireld made the blog. Chester's chance

:46:42. > :46:47.might have been the better one. Sloppy from Spurs. A good tackle,

:46:48. > :47:00.that is, from Carter-Vickers, and then Alderweireld. Really good

:47:01. > :47:27.offending twice. Straight back to Grealish.

:47:28. > :47:43.They have got some big lads, Villa. Look at Alderweireld's desire there.

:47:44. > :47:51.Fantastic. Really, really good offending.

:47:52. > :48:07.Sissoko. Davies outside him. Really phased into the area. He must not

:48:08. > :48:15.have looked, played it blind, I think. No chance for anyone to get

:48:16. > :48:32.onto that. Here's Agbonlahor. I don't think Grealish will reach

:48:33. > :48:36.that. Some intent from Aston Villa, as well. Yes, they have been better,

:48:37. > :48:45.definitely on the front that a little bit more.

:48:46. > :48:57.Three quarters of the way through. Dele Alli honours as a substitute

:48:58. > :49:02.for Spurs. Winks can shoot. Deflected. Good save again by

:49:03. > :49:06.Johnstone. It was good play from Dele Alli, nice and positive, good

:49:07. > :49:14.running with the ball, good pick out. Unlucky from Winks, but a

:49:15. > :50:02.deflection. It is a good save. Yes, good hands.

:50:03. > :50:17.Carter-Vickers on Grealish. Just locked him, ran in the way of his

:50:18. > :50:25.past. Made the most of it but it was a free kick. Talk about Tottenham

:50:26. > :50:29.not wanting another game, Villa won't either. The amount of games

:50:30. > :50:42.you play in the Championship. Spurs are making their second change. Toby

:50:43. > :50:48.Alderweireld is coming off. Georges-Kevin N'Koudou coming on,

:50:49. > :50:55.the player they signed from Marseille. I would imagine Eric Dier

:50:56. > :51:06.might drop into a further at the back for Spurs. We will see after

:51:07. > :51:19.they have defended this free kick. Grealish trying to catch Michel Vorm

:51:20. > :51:28.out. Eight had ambitious from there. -- a tad ambitious. That was a very

:51:29. > :51:41.famous goals in Merseyside derbies, last minute, I think, at Goodison.

:51:42. > :51:48.Back into Dele Alli, patent covering. Here's N'Koudou, the

:51:49. > :51:58.substitute, oh, and it's in, Davies with a glancing header and Tottenham

:51:59. > :52:04.have the lead! Ben Davies pops up with a header in the opposition

:52:05. > :52:10.penalty area. N'Koudou the substitute provided early on, and

:52:11. > :52:14.Davies with his first-ever Tottenham goal. He has only just come on the

:52:15. > :52:19.pitch, N'Koudou, but he has put in a really good ball. Out of his feet.

:52:20. > :52:28.They really good header. Just behind him is welcome he guides it into the

:52:29. > :52:31.corner. Good header, clever. What he's doing in there, I don't really

:52:32. > :52:47.know, but... That's a lovely header. Well, Spurs in front. Now what have

:52:48. > :53:07.Villa got. They have to defend a corner first.

:53:08. > :53:27.Ben Davies, just about the best unlikely of Spurs scorers.

:53:28. > :53:40.Wimmer was hoping to tea something up here and Agbonlahor caught him.

:53:41. > :53:50.Free kick. Didn't need to. Grealish was coming at a block. Silly free

:53:51. > :54:05.kick to give away. I think Spurs have gone to a back four. If they

:54:06. > :54:13.make it two here, you would think that would do it. Dier and Trippier

:54:14. > :54:19.deep in, session. Trippier is running away from it, Eric Dier will

:54:20. > :54:30.have a go. It the wall. Grealish is there. He has found Adomah. Wasn't

:54:31. > :54:52.Dier's best effort. Lovely moment for Ben Davies to

:54:53. > :55:06.glance in a header like that. Here's Son. Davies. Dele Alli. Davies

:55:07. > :55:12.advancing again. Eric Dier. They asked him to shoot, and he did. Yes,

:55:13. > :55:17.a bit wide, he actually has a good strike on him, Dier. Dele Alli has

:55:18. > :55:21.made a difference is coming on the pitch, popping into those positions,

:55:22. > :55:25.good touch, positive, giving everyone a lift. This is the goal.

:55:26. > :55:29.He does really well, because the ball was a bit low actually and he

:55:30. > :55:30.has two stooped down and guide it into the far corner. Really good

:55:31. > :56:19.header. Trippier is in a bit of bother here.

:56:20. > :56:32.Yes, I think he just took a kick. It hurt, whatever it was.

:56:33. > :56:47.Clashed knees, maybe? Didn't see too much there. Looks uncomfortable. I

:56:48. > :57:04.suspect he'll survive. Forward from Wimmer to Dele Alli. N'Koudou.

:57:05. > :57:15.The free kick taken to quickly for the liking of Mike Dean, because

:57:16. > :57:20.Villa are preparing, I say a substitution, it's at least one,

:57:21. > :57:38.could be a triple substitution. Albert Adomah is one who is coming.

:57:39. > :57:45.Keinan Davis is coming on. Mile Jedinak coming off. That's Keinan

:57:46. > :58:10.Davis. Gabi Agbonlahor is the third change

:58:11. > :58:16.for Ross McCormack. So all three in one go. Keinan Davis for his first

:58:17. > :58:20.appearance of the season, Andre green on, and Ross McCormack, who

:58:21. > :58:41.cost Villa 12 million, has come on. Dele Alli, Son, trivia and Sissoko

:58:42. > :58:52.all forward here for Tottenham Hotspur. -- Trippier. Good play from

:58:53. > :58:55.Spurs, nice and patient, trying to draw Villa out. If they want to get

:58:56. > :59:04.back into the game, they will have to come and press. Vorm's clearance

:59:05. > :59:12.has found its way to Son. The whistle has gone because he was

:59:13. > :59:17.offside. So we've got McCormack and Davies now playing up front for

:59:18. > :59:21.Villa. -- McCormack and Davis. McCormack has been linked with a

:59:22. > :59:25.move away from the club in this transfer window, Steve Bruce denying

:59:26. > :59:32.he has any interest in learning him out to anybody. Wolves among the

:59:33. > :59:35.clubs interested for him. Villa are trying to bring in Henri Lansbury

:59:36. > :59:39.from Nottingham Forest in this window, they are confident of doing

:59:40. > :59:45.that. That's a good ball. Sissoko, good save, stood up well. Sam

:59:46. > :59:48.Johnstone. He wouldn't commit, the goalkeeper, until Sissoko blinked

:59:49. > :59:55.first and it is a good save. He did well. Gets in party will easily

:59:56. > :59:59.here. A poor challenge from Baker, looks like he's struggling still.

:00:00. > :00:11.I'm surprised he wasn't one of the ones to come. That is a foul by

:00:12. > :00:13.Grealish on Dier, but play on. WHISTLE

:00:14. > :00:26.Now there was no proper advantage, so it is a free kick to Spurs.

:00:27. > :00:34.Talk about Vincent Janssen needing a goal, Moussa Sissoko wouldn't mind

:00:35. > :00:43.one either. He has yet to score for Spurs. That is three good saves now

:00:44. > :00:47.from Sam Johnstone. You expect more from Si Sissoko, ?30 million. More

:00:48. > :00:57.goals, more assists, more consistent.

:00:58. > :01:13.Bright feet from N'Koudou. Sissoko behind Ba Mavi and he finds the net

:01:14. > :01:19.and tuts Tottenham into -- and puts Tottenham into the fourth round of

:01:20. > :01:23.the FA Cup. A good finish to to finish Villa's resistance. Right on

:01:24. > :01:25.cue. Talking about Sissoko producing more quality in the final third. It

:01:26. > :01:42.was a good pick out. Really nicely worked. Good give and

:01:43. > :01:47.go. Mistake from Amavi. Poor defending. But a good pick out. Got

:01:48. > :01:56.to be calm when you get in there. Make the right pass. It is a good

:01:57. > :02:03.finish from Son. Good to see Sissoko playing there with with his head up.

:02:04. > :02:07.If you have his pace and power and mobility, you should be really

:02:08. > :02:23.causing problems for teams. But Villa have got what they deserved

:02:24. > :02:35.really. They haven't had a go. 2-0 the referee Mike Dean has played

:02:36. > :02:37.advantage. McCormack. Mike Dean saying free kick now, because there

:02:38. > :02:59.was no advantage. N'Koudou did well. He has been

:03:00. > :03:08.lively since he come on. Not just the goal. Injection of pace he has

:03:09. > :03:14.got. Surprised we haven't seen more of him. His only start in the

:03:15. > :03:20.Tottenham shirt was the EFL Cup tie that they lost at Liverpool. But

:03:21. > :03:35.cost them about ?9 million to get him from Marseille.

:03:36. > :03:52.Amavi rather dived in, but managed to come away with the ball.

:03:53. > :04:04.That is a Spurs throw. Villa had been one of only seven ever present

:04:05. > :04:16.clubs in the Premier League until relegation last season.

:04:17. > :04:28.Spent a lot of money, of investment, in players, trying to get out of

:04:29. > :04:37.that division. McCormack. Offside flag was up. They are lacking a bit

:04:38. > :04:48.of creativity, Villa. I know they're playing a Premier League side today.

:04:49. > :04:59.Moussa Sissoko is coming off. Onomah will replace him. He will be pleased

:05:00. > :05:08.with his assists, Sissoko. On comes another local boy. Josh Onomah. An

:05:09. > :05:14.England under 18 international. Enfield born. Skoerped his first --

:05:15. > :05:17.scored his first Spurs goal earlier this season in the EFL Cup game with

:05:18. > :06:02.Gillingham. N'Koudou did really well and Onomah

:06:03. > :06:06.was not far from tapping in a third. The exuberance of youth. Good play

:06:07. > :06:16.that was. So positive and direct. Great pace. Couldn't quite pick him

:06:17. > :06:22.out. Five minutes to go, Danny, here is Dele Alli, there is the block.

:06:23. > :06:30.Goal kick. Give you a moment to select a Man of the Match. Come back

:06:31. > :06:37.to you in a moment. They are threatening a third now, Spurs.

:06:38. > :06:42.Villa resisted stubbornly and in a very disciplined fashion for a long

:06:43. > :06:55.time. It has been an easy afternoon for them in many ways though.

:06:56. > :07:01.So man of match from you, Danny? It is not the easiest, there has not

:07:02. > :07:07.been too many stand out performances. Very solid

:07:08. > :07:11.performances from Tottenham. Winks has done OK. Probably give to it

:07:12. > :07:15.Trippier. His crossing has been quality. Defended well. Full of

:07:16. > :07:18.energy up and down the right-hand side. Looks like he is trying to

:07:19. > :07:24.keep his shirt. Trying to impress the manager. He is a really good

:07:25. > :08:11.footballer. Carter-Vickers has done well. He

:08:12. > :08:24.hasn't had too much to do. But very solid. Good with the ball.

:08:25. > :08:32.So no Cup Final this year for Steve Bruce, who took Hull to Wembley in

:08:33. > :08:43.that final. 2-0 up in eight minutes against Arsenal. Beaten 3-2 in extra

:08:44. > :08:47.time in the end. But I think he is the right man for the job, given

:08:48. > :09:03.Villa's job at the moment is to get themselves out of the Championship.

:09:04. > :09:10.Grealish caught by Carter-Vickers. Free kick to Aston Villa. Good play

:09:11. > :09:17.that. We have not seen enough of that from him. That low sense of

:09:18. > :09:25.gravity, goes past people easily. Glides with the ball. Grealish is

:09:26. > :09:28.capable of tormenting his opponents. He has actually tormented a couple

:09:29. > :09:32.of his managers as well over the last year or two! Seems to be on the

:09:33. > :09:38.straight and narrow at the moment. Long may it stay that way. Because

:09:39. > :09:41.he is a really good player. I think Steve Bruce will be good for him.

:09:42. > :09:49.Lot of experience. Seen a lot of players over the years.

:09:50. > :09:58.Can they get a consolation? Ross McCormack. It has been a comfortable

:09:59. > :10:02.day for Michel Vorm. Very comfortable. In the first half I

:10:03. > :10:08.understand, you're trying to get your foot into the game. Don't give

:10:09. > :10:13.a goal away early. But when they went 1-0 down, they have thrown the

:10:14. > :10:25.subs on the mentally didn't really change.

:10:26. > :10:36.They have been disappointing in all honesty. Grealish almost got caught,

:10:37. > :10:52.a shout of, man on. Free kick. We are into the 90th minute. If this

:10:53. > :10:57.one was to go in, stranger things have happened - not too many I must

:10:58. > :11:02.confess, but they will still feel if they can get one, there might be

:11:03. > :11:08.enough time, dependant on the the fourth official for them to sneak an

:11:09. > :11:16.unlikely replay. I wouldn't hold your breath, but this has got to go

:11:17. > :11:19.in. Grealish wants it. But Bacuna is a good free kick taker. A minimum of

:11:20. > :11:40.three minutes added. He has had a go and I don't think

:11:41. > :11:50.McCormack will get the next one. Which may well be in the next game.

:11:51. > :11:57.Winks' use of the ball is really good. Good feet. Always knows when

:11:58. > :12:22.people are coming. Good range in his passing. Looks a really good player.

:12:23. > :12:28.Ben Davies is reluctantly retreating to his left-back spot. He has got

:12:29. > :12:33.forward on two or three occasions since that goal. He has done well.

:12:34. > :12:38.Really comfortable with the ball. Doesn't have that pace that Rose has

:12:39. > :12:40.gone. Powers of recovery in that left-back area. But really good

:12:41. > :12:47.footballer. Davies looking for Grealish. It

:12:48. > :13:07.ricochets to Dele Alli. He was trying to stay onside! Had to

:13:08. > :13:15.check his run. He didn't give it him early enough. So he had to stop and

:13:16. > :13:21.then it was too late. He has got something though N'Koudou.

:13:22. > :13:40.Certainly nudged the manager. That is a decent ball from Bacuna.

:13:41. > :13:45.McCormack just didn't quite read it quickly enough. That is all you can

:13:46. > :13:52.do when you come off the bench, try and make an impression, put yourself

:13:53. > :14:01.about. Onomah. Being chased by Hutton. Should be three. Good save

:14:02. > :14:03.again by Sam Johnstone. Well, the onloan Villa keeper has earned his

:14:04. > :14:09.corn. Particularly in the second half. He has had a good afternoon.

:14:10. > :14:14.Done well. Good pass. Just had to take a touch. Stretching a bit.

:14:15. > :14:21.Gives the keeper time to come out. And that is the final whistle at

:14:22. > :14:26.White Hart Lane. Big embrace between the two managers, Aston Villa will

:14:27. > :14:31.return to their attempts to get out of Championship. Steven Clement

:14:32. > :14:36.there is among the coaching staff at Villa, a former Spurs man. But

:14:37. > :14:43.Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham march on, thanks to a header from

:14:44. > :14:46.Davies. His first ever goal for Tottenham and a second from Son

:14:47. > :14:52.Heung-min to put it out of Villa's reach. So the eight time FA Cup

:14:53. > :15:07.winners are into the fourth round. We have got a couple of goals in the

:15:08. > :15:12.end and Tottenham go through. A much more dominant performance from the

:15:13. > :15:16.home side in the second half and over all, a good victory? Yes you

:15:17. > :15:21.have got to praise the manager. Because he realised that he needed

:15:22. > :15:28.to change things. He did and took Janssen off and brought Dele Alli on

:15:29. > :15:33.and gave them more pace. And they were a lot better in the last 25

:15:34. > :15:38.mibs. Minutes. It could have been three or four. But yes, the best

:15:39. > :15:50.team won, but it wasn't a great game was it?

:15:51. > :15:51.Now there was no proper advantage, so it is a free kick to Spurs.

:15:52. > :15:56.From a Villa perspective, never really in it, and never looking at

:15:57. > :16:00.it. They will be thinking what did we contribute to that game to try

:16:01. > :16:05.and win it. I don't think they were positive enough, they seem to sit in

:16:06. > :16:09.and they stay the same way. The last five minutes it was too late. You

:16:10. > :16:14.can't come to these kind of places and expect to absorb all that

:16:15. > :16:19.pressure. Is that because they don't have the quality always adjust the

:16:20. > :16:23.tactical approach? Steve Bruce possibly got it right in regards to

:16:24. > :16:27.not conceding early on, see how you get on. He would have been happy

:16:28. > :16:32.with the first half, but come the second half you have to try and win

:16:33. > :16:36.the game, surely. I did not see anything from Villa at all.

:16:37. > :16:41.Pochettino will be happy, made the changes that changed the game in the

:16:42. > :16:43.end. Even though it was not one of Tottenham has my greatest displays

:16:44. > :16:51.as we have cinemas in weeks, it keeps that momentum. It is a

:16:52. > :16:55.victory. As Al said, it was his change that probably change the

:16:56. > :17:00.whole course of the game, you are too will be totally delighted about.

:17:01. > :17:07.Villa had a little go at it at one stage in the second car. Too little,

:17:08. > :17:14.too late. I think that Ed mired -- ignited Pochettino to making the

:17:15. > :17:20.changes is made. Let's here from the Tottenham full-backs, the Man of the

:17:21. > :17:24.Match and the matchwinner. You had to work at that but you must be

:17:25. > :17:27.delighted to be true. They made it hard for us, sometimes it seem like

:17:28. > :17:30.coming six at the back. They were hard to break down but I thought we

:17:31. > :17:33.reacted well in the second half and I thought the first goal was crucial

:17:34. > :17:39.and then we were delighted to get the second. You have personally had

:17:40. > :17:44.a couple of decent performances, are you now showing the manager that you

:17:45. > :17:47.can be a regular? I train hard every day, and it is difficult because

:17:48. > :17:52.I've got Kyle in front of the who have been doing excellent. Whenever

:17:53. > :17:56.I am called upon I make sure I do my best to the team. A first goal in a

:17:57. > :18:01.Spurs shirt, a great moment and a great time in the match to get it.

:18:02. > :18:04.It was coming at a tough time in the game for us, starting to get a bit

:18:05. > :18:09.sloppy, making some mistakes looking to get the first goal. In the end,

:18:10. > :18:14.we got it, and from there on we just had to see the game out. There is a

:18:15. > :18:18.big expectation on the Spurs team, then you come into games like this,

:18:19. > :18:23.mentally how much pressure does it add? It is not so much pressure. We

:18:24. > :18:26.expect a lot of ourselves, the standards we have put out in the

:18:27. > :18:28.field, so for us to come out here, we have to have that winning

:18:29. > :18:34.mentality and that's what we had today. Kevin, just finally come it

:18:35. > :18:37.has been a long time since Spurs lifted a trophy, do you feel as a

:18:38. > :18:44.squad this could be the season that you lived a trophy? We just want to

:18:45. > :18:52.take it a game at a time. Hopefully end of the season we can have one of

:18:53. > :18:59.them. All the best. There can't be many squads around the full-back

:19:00. > :19:02.variety they have. They did well, particularly the second half. They

:19:03. > :19:06.have two very good players in front of them, which they will find it

:19:07. > :19:13.very difficult to get in front of those two. With the Villa sitting so

:19:14. > :19:21.far back and bringing on Dele Alli, we were speaking about this. Villa

:19:22. > :19:31.had now won the mark. All those defenders doing nothing at all. Dele

:19:32. > :19:35.Alli just moved around Son. The Villa players were thinking we have

:19:36. > :19:40.no responsibility, that is when a found it difficult. Looked a lot

:19:41. > :19:44.better, Tottenham, when they made the change, unlikely goal-scorer for

:19:45. > :19:48.a full-back. It was like the kind of thing you want to see Janssen doing.

:19:49. > :19:51.Unfortunately for Janssen, it was not his day again, and it was purely

:19:52. > :19:57.because he did not spend enough time in the box. A little bit of movement

:19:58. > :20:01.from Dele Alli and Son, that understanding they have together,

:20:02. > :20:06.N'Koudou when he came onto the pitch, Ben Davies found themselves

:20:07. > :20:10.an unusual position. He has a calmness about him, even in those

:20:11. > :20:13.left-back positions but that is a fantastic header. It is behind him,

:20:14. > :20:17.he has had to guide it into the far corner. As he said himself in his

:20:18. > :20:20.interview, they were getting quite sloppy at the time and they

:20:21. > :20:25.desperately needed that change in personnel, that goal in particular,

:20:26. > :20:30.and after that... See what happens when you get in and around the six

:20:31. > :20:33.yard box! Tell Janssen that, he looks a bit like a poor man's

:20:34. > :20:38.Soldado at the moment and you kind of filter him. He is having a hard

:20:39. > :20:41.time, the lad said they felt sorry for him and I said the manager has

:20:42. > :20:44.to take him off, and the guys were saying leave him on because he would

:20:45. > :20:49.get chances. I was saying the manager's neck is on the line, think

:20:50. > :20:56.you will take off and he did. Never a manager, me, too soft, give him a

:20:57. > :21:00.chance! Big softy. And then Son eventually wrapped things up a

:21:01. > :21:07.Tottenham and it was all over. He came to live towards the back end of

:21:08. > :21:10.the game, Son. Trippier, Man of the Match and a fantastic game. He finds

:21:11. > :21:17.on the right-hand side. This is where he has scored a lot of his

:21:18. > :21:22.goals, this year, Son. He has added this to his game. This is what they

:21:23. > :21:25.weren't doing in the first half, passing, moving, quick, one touch,

:21:26. > :21:31.to touch football to try and dislodge that back four, backfired,

:21:32. > :21:37.whatever it was. That is the change -- back five. And the ball was

:21:38. > :21:39.finding its way into the box because there was movement from two or three

:21:40. > :21:46.players in there, down the side, get it in the box. You ask a question at

:21:47. > :21:50.half-time, how do they dislodge the back six players of Aston Villa?

:21:51. > :21:53.That is how you do it, one touch, movement of the ball, running

:21:54. > :22:00.behind, and they did it very well second half. We have dug through the

:22:01. > :22:09.match and found Villa's probably only wanly -- one touch the macro --

:22:10. > :22:16.one chance in the game. A good challenge. Gabi Agbonlahor's only

:22:17. > :22:20.real chance on goal. But Spurs did well. They were disciplined. Games

:22:21. > :22:23.like this can go away from you if you are not disciplined and you

:22:24. > :22:27.don't concentrate. The manager has got it right, Pochettino. You guys

:22:28. > :22:33.do what you have to do and let the other six: win the game for us. It

:22:34. > :22:37.must be quite concerning, though, as a Villa man, you played there, a

:22:38. > :22:43.club like that, almost like we are looking at real under box here. It

:22:44. > :22:49.was a few months ago they win the Premiership. In fairness, their top

:22:50. > :22:53.scorer was away. They are relying on their top scorer to score the goals

:22:54. > :22:57.for them. But in regards to the club, it is sad to see where they

:22:58. > :23:00.are. It is not a foregone conclusion, when you go down in that

:23:01. > :23:03.Championship it is incredibly difficult to come back out, so don't

:23:04. > :23:08.expect to walk back into the Premier League because you have a big

:23:09. > :23:12.football club. You have to earn the right. Got the right man in charge

:23:13. > :23:17.now though. That is the key, a bit of stability for a while? They have

:23:18. > :23:21.to give him some funds to try to get at that division. He knows better

:23:22. > :23:26.than anyone else, a fantastic record getting teams out and back in, which

:23:27. > :23:30.it looks as if they are going to do, and he will get it right, I'm sure.

:23:31. > :23:35.How close are Spurs to the finished article? This year, they took

:23:36. > :23:40.Manchester City to the cleaners, they gave Chelsea a great game here

:23:41. > :23:44.the other night, and beat them 2-0. They were better than Manchester

:23:45. > :23:51.United to 60 minutes. What's missing, a trophy presumably? The

:23:52. > :23:55.players clearly adore him. The trophy is the obvious thing missing

:23:56. > :23:57.from this group of players. The big thing that Mauricio Pochettino has

:23:58. > :24:01.done at Spurs is change the mentality. Spurs have gone from

:24:02. > :24:06.let's chased the top four, getting into a final, the now we need to win

:24:07. > :24:10.a league, let's do something serious, we are building this huge

:24:11. > :24:14.stadium, developing young players, new training ground, we need to

:24:15. > :24:17.change the mentality. Now the fans, everyone is starting to believe that

:24:18. > :24:22.so it is about delivering that now. And they have this nucleus of young

:24:23. > :24:27.talent. He encourages that, you trust them. They are good players.

:24:28. > :24:31.Dele Alli, what a future he has got, Harry Kane is exactly the same,

:24:32. > :24:34.scoring goals. If they can get that 11 out that played against Chelsea

:24:35. > :24:38.constantly, they are a match for anyone. Hutsby only negative is the

:24:39. > :24:42.recruitment in the summer, they spent a lot of money on players that

:24:43. > :24:48.haven't really improve what they already had. I believe he will get

:24:49. > :24:52.if you more quid at the end of the season to spend. If you get it now

:24:53. > :24:57.in January, not that much happens in January, but if they did, where

:24:58. > :25:01.would you invest now? Last year, if you look at their midfield they

:25:02. > :25:06.looked like. This year they have bought Wanyama and looked solid. He

:25:07. > :25:12.has possibly been the best of them. I think a striker to back-up Kane,

:25:13. > :25:18.and the 3M behind, I would like to see him get someone really top end,

:25:19. > :25:21.who plays in that position to give them a real chance of actually

:25:22. > :25:25.winning the league. That is what you need, a world-class player. The

:25:26. > :25:29.manager has stripped it back and said let's start at the beginning

:25:30. > :25:32.and get it right from the bottom. If we need anything down there in the

:25:33. > :25:39.youth team all the under 18 's, U19s, it is there for us. Let's get

:25:40. > :25:43.them playing the same way I want to play. They have some seriously good,

:25:44. > :25:48.young talent. We saw that with Dele Alli in the week, the two headers.

:25:49. > :25:52.He gets into brilliant positions. I said if he worked on his finishing,

:25:53. > :25:57.because he has so many chances, it looks as if he is actually doing

:25:58. > :26:03.that. He has one hell of a future. The vultures are circling over these

:26:04. > :26:07.youngsters, they are seeing what they are capable of. Can they keep

:26:08. > :26:13.them at Spurs? Gareth Bale the obvious one. The more goals that

:26:14. > :26:17.Harry Kane keeps banging in, Dele Alli. This club has got to turn

:26:18. > :26:21.itself into players staying and adding to what they have got.

:26:22. > :26:28.Quality attract quality. To do that, they have to win things. They

:26:29. > :26:32.certainly do. At Anfield, it was Liverpool against League 2 side,

:26:33. > :26:40.Plymouth. Alistair Mann was watching for us.

:26:41. > :26:48.COMMENTATOR: Up towards Origi, and he'll get there, now it is a foul,

:26:49. > :26:52.he has given the free kick. Last of the whistle halts the celebrations

:26:53. > :26:55.before they can really get going. So many times over the years, ties like

:26:56. > :27:01.this have been settled in the last five minutes, but goodness me here

:27:02. > :27:05.comes Joe this round the back expat forget the thought of just a replay,

:27:06. > :27:12.Jervis was thinking we can win it here! -- Jervis. Delivery comes

:27:13. > :27:17.towards stowage and is honest and own goal, I think is the last thing

:27:18. > :27:20.they would have wanted. It hits, Smith, it could have gone in, it

:27:21. > :27:27.didn't. WHISTLE The referee calls time! It's an

:27:28. > :27:33.incredible result in FA Cup history. Plymouth Argyle the fourth tier of

:27:34. > :27:41.the English game have held the all mighty Liverpool at Anfield!

:27:42. > :27:48.Terrific from Plymouth. You can see all of the FA Cup action highlights

:27:49. > :27:53.this evening. Liverpool got a replay, the last thing they probably

:27:54. > :27:59.want. A lot of changes for them. With the semifinal coming up, also

:28:00. > :28:06.have Man Utd at the weekend. Are you better off not playing a strong team

:28:07. > :28:09.at the start. Take this competition seriously, get yourself into the

:28:10. > :28:13.next round. I sympathise with them a little bit given the fact they have

:28:14. > :28:21.the midweek game and United. Soft manager! But now Europe. Another FA

:28:22. > :28:22.Cup win the Spurs before the Son goes down on the old White Hart

:28:23. > :28:32.Lane. Goodbye. COMMENTATOR: In the history of this

:28:33. > :28:45.competition, these two clubs are cupped royalty really.

:28:46. > :28:55.Son hit the shot, really good save. Another chance, Agbonlahor blocked.

:28:56. > :29:02.N'Koudou, the substitute, oh and it's in, Davies with a glancing

:29:03. > :29:04.header. He finds Son, who finds the net and put stop them into

:29:05. > :29:08.They want me to write and produce - for a boy band. Oh.
