:00:33. > :00:36.Good evening. Plenty has gone the Championship. Southampton have

:00:36. > :00:39.become the runaway leaders, Middlesbrough last the unbeaten

:00:39. > :00:43.start, we have the new Nottingham Forest manager grabbing a victory

:00:43. > :00:47.and Bristol City appointed a new manager. Today's games through up

:00:47. > :00:52.their share of talking points and it is always nice to have a current

:00:52. > :00:58.footballer in the studio, so we are delighted to be joined this evening

:00:58. > :01:03.by Steve Claridge of gospel a football club. We will have more on

:01:03. > :01:08.Steve's next comeback, but here is what is coming up. With Southampton

:01:08. > :01:14.stretching their legs at the top of the Championship, would they keep

:01:14. > :01:18.up with the Saints? The latest team to stop them was Reading. Steve

:01:18. > :01:25.Cotterill was attempting to get Nottingham Forest upwardly-mobile.

:01:25. > :01:30.A team started the game aged, Ian Holloway's Blackpool. -- 8. At the

:01:30. > :01:36.top of League 1, Lee Clark and Gary next night chasing Charleson with

:01:36. > :01:40.them at the team to catch. And two very different clubs with similar

:01:40. > :01:44.ambitions. AFC Wimbledon and Crawley Town have got to know each

:01:44. > :01:51.other pretty well in the Conference over the last few years. Today they

:01:52. > :01:55.went head-to-head at the top of We kick off with tonight's late

:01:55. > :02:00.game in the Championship involving Southampton, against Reading. The

:02:00. > :02:03.Saints secured a crucial victory over West Ham to lay down a marker

:02:03. > :02:06.and put them five points clear at the top of the Championship going

:02:06. > :02:12.into the weekend. Reading made one change from the team that drew with

:02:12. > :02:16.Derby in midweek with McAnuff passed fit, and replacing Jimmy

:02:16. > :02:26.care they. One change for Southampton with Corkill returning

:02:26. > :02:49.

:02:49. > :02:59.to the starting 11 ahead of Richard Chaplin stead. Was that a

:02:59. > :03:19.

:03:19. > :03:24.the ball with his hand, a yellow Southampton wall, and that is

:03:24. > :03:34.behind for a corner. The question is, is he the last defender? But a

:03:34. > :03:49.

:03:49. > :03:55.yellow card was deemed enough. Two McAnuff! Cleared by Danny Fox. The

:03:55. > :03:58.first real scare for Southampton. Down the left-hand side. They

:03:58. > :04:08.released him brilliantly and he took on and beat the defender,

:04:08. > :04:36.

:04:36. > :04:45.Richardson, but Danny Fox was effort, and he has not scored since

:04:45. > :04:55.February, but Kelvin Davis had to be Maicon -- right on the money.

:04:55. > :04:55.

:04:55. > :05:05.That is a good strong hand, and it was moving in the air. Adjustment

:05:05. > :05:38.

:05:38. > :05:48.his knee and wrist -- midriff. In by Danny Fox. Fox again. Sent in by

:05:48. > :06:16.

:06:16. > :06:26.block, and meals with the clearance. -- Mills with a clearance. The

:06:26. > :07:02.

:07:02. > :07:10.angle was closing on him, he got post. Back in, and legged Woods

:07:10. > :07:16.cause. Mac -- enough's free kick. Coming back with real venom. The

:07:16. > :07:26.angle is against him, but he finds the bottom corner brilliantly. It

:07:26. > :07:37.

:07:37. > :07:42.is a Royal wake-up call for McAnuff. A second yellow card, now

:07:42. > :07:52.a red card, and Dean Hammond, the Southampton captain is sent off. A

:07:52. > :08:17.

:08:17. > :08:21.man down, a goal down, he gets the ten men have perhaps saved it.

:08:21. > :08:31.His second League goal in English football, and a huge lifeline

:08:31. > :08:35.thrown to Southampton. The Saints are back out 1-1. They have not

:08:35. > :08:38.made too many chances, and no one may have made has been taken

:08:38. > :08:46.clinically and emphatically. -- the one they have has been taken so

:08:46. > :08:50.Two sides with quality out there, and the league leaders have come to

:08:50. > :08:56.town and I thought we were the better side, so disappointed.

:08:56. > :09:00.were just not there today. It just shows you need character. We have

:09:00. > :09:04.gone down to ten men and we are one goal behind and shown the

:09:04. > :09:11.resilience to get something out of it. A decent game of football,

:09:11. > :09:16.exploding into life in the last 20 minutes. Not a bad game, no doubt.

:09:16. > :09:20.Reading took the lead, and deserved one. For most of the game they were

:09:20. > :09:25.the better side, but all this sudden they kick the tempo up and

:09:25. > :09:33.we had a game. Reading have come into full. They will be

:09:33. > :09:38.into full. They will be disappointed that they only. After

:09:38. > :09:44.you go a goal down, you will be the happier manager. Reading's court,

:09:44. > :09:49.and that was their reward. Some good play and the majority of the

:09:49. > :09:56.game they were the better side. You write Southampton off at your peril.

:09:56. > :10:03.There is a bit about them now. They have a knack of getting something

:10:03. > :10:10.out of their best. Down to ten men, but this is a neat little finish.

:10:10. > :10:16.An excellent finish. He came on for David Connolly and played behind

:10:16. > :10:23.Lambert. And he looked lively and he seems to be able to pick up the

:10:23. > :10:29.pace of the game. When he gets on the ball he is very positive and

:10:29. > :10:32.difficult to play against. Reading will be disappointed defending it

:10:32. > :10:36.from a throw-in. Looking back at that, you said the point is almost

:10:36. > :10:41.as good as three points but they took against West Ham. I think so.

:10:41. > :10:46.Against West Ham they were mourning control of the game than they were

:10:46. > :10:51.today. But what you get at the top of the table, you cannot win every

:10:51. > :10:57.game. They might look back at that one point and seek better as

:10:57. > :11:00.massive. They may be might have got away from that game, and as a

:11:00. > :11:05.manager that might tell you more about the team and the personnel

:11:05. > :11:07.than the 1-0 victory over West Ham. than the 1-0 victory over West Ham.

:11:07. > :11:11.than the 1-0 victory over West Ham. Encouraging signs for Nigel Adkins.

:11:11. > :11:14.Let's find out how the other leading lights there on Saturday.

:11:14. > :11:24.With West Ham not playing until Monday, we start at the Riverside,

:11:24. > :11:30.

:11:30. > :11:34.and 95 days old, he was denied a record-breaking Derby debut because

:11:34. > :11:39.he had to go to school the next day. No such problems for the trip to

:11:39. > :11:43.the Riverside because it is half- term. Last time the Rams tasted

:11:43. > :11:48.victory, Bennett was three years old, and they fell behind on the

:11:48. > :11:53.stroke of half-time. Williams deflecting the shot in. At the

:11:53. > :11:58.other end, Derby created chances of their own. A combination of Jason

:11:58. > :12:03.Steele hitting the post, which denied it Robinson. After a flying

:12:03. > :12:07.start of the season, Marvin Emnes has been misfiring, but after the

:12:07. > :12:11.restart he discovered his touch to make it 2-0. The Derby gave the

:12:11. > :12:15.home defence plenty to think about. Bennett was inches away from

:12:15. > :12:22.marking his debut with a dream goal after the shot from Christopher

:12:22. > :12:28.Maguire. The Rams continued to bombard the goal. Jamie Ward

:12:28. > :12:34.rattling the bars with this effort. It was just not to the Derby's day.

:12:34. > :12:44.A deflected cross finding it would work again. Andy gave Tony Mowbray

:12:44. > :12:45.

:12:45. > :12:49.The three points keeps us ticking along. If we had lost today, people

:12:49. > :12:51.would have asked questions about the character of the squad.

:12:52. > :13:01.such a young team to come back and played with such attacking intent

:13:02. > :13:06.

:13:06. > :13:11.Palace shared identical legal records. Poor George landed the

:13:11. > :13:15.Friedman have seen impressive runs in recent form. The Eagles have not

:13:15. > :13:19.lost in four. It was the home side who seemed likely to pick up the

:13:19. > :13:24.5th win on the trot at Portman Road. Carlos Edwards could not have teed

:13:24. > :13:28.it up better for Lee Bowyer, who headed it wide. The Crystal Palace

:13:28. > :13:36.goalkeeper has been one prominent factor in Crystal Palace's march up

:13:36. > :13:39.the table. Here he denied Thomas. Ipswich lost their linchpin Damien

:13:39. > :13:47.Delaney and found themselves under pressure, but Glen Moray was unable

:13:47. > :13:50.to make the best of the chance when it fell his way. -- Glen Moray.

:13:50. > :13:54.Sean Scannell was given a chance to whip in a dangerous ball and it was

:13:54. > :14:01.converted by the unlikely figure of Paddy McCarthy, his second League

:14:01. > :14:04.goal in three seasons. Ipswich's response was to bring on Michael

:14:04. > :14:12.Chopra and Jason Scotland. Palace looked more likely to double the

:14:12. > :14:16.lead. David Stockdale did well to stop this effort. Ipswich's misery

:14:16. > :14:20.was complete in the final minute. Cresswell received a second yellow

:14:20. > :14:24.card for complaining about an and punished David Wright challenge.

:14:24. > :14:34.Palace move up to the giddy heights of third and have surpassed their

:14:34. > :14:35.

:14:35. > :14:41.total of away points for the whole for the clash with Leeds, their

:14:41. > :14:45.late winner in a 4-3 you victory over Cardiff had given them the

:14:45. > :14:49.belief that they could maintain a Posh push for the play-offs. But

:14:49. > :14:54.the Leeds fans were celebrating here, Andy Keogh celebrating

:14:54. > :15:00.beautifully after some slick build- up play. Peterborough were chasing

:15:00. > :15:07.a 5th win in seven league games. 23 minutes in, they were level. Grant

:15:07. > :15:11.McCann pigging out Zakuani. A moment of controversy when Tomlin

:15:11. > :15:16.made that challenge on Andy Keogh. The referee brought out a red card

:15:16. > :15:26.and Peterborough were down to 10 men. Soon after the break, Leeds

:15:26. > :15:29.made that count. Lloyd Sam teeing up Adam Clayton to put Leeds 2-1 up.

:15:29. > :15:35.Matches involving Posh haven't been short of goals this season, and

:15:35. > :15:38.this one was no different. Two minutes remaining and Peterborough

:15:38. > :15:43.it snatched a dramatic equaliser. Mark Little appearing to have saved

:15:43. > :15:48.the day for the hosts. But there were two more twists to come.

:15:48. > :15:58.Darren O'Dea made this challenge and David Ball. Just a yellow card,

:15:58. > :15:59.

:15:59. > :16:04.said the referee. So the game went into injury time. O'Dea, who Wells,

:16:04. > :16:14.Robert salt into Peterborough's wounds. His last volley stealing a

:16:14. > :16:17.

:16:17. > :16:20.controversial win for the visitors. Millwall would have seen them

:16:20. > :16:24.claimed their first back-to-back wins of the season and break into

:16:24. > :16:34.the top six for the first time under Sven-Goran Eriksson. Millwall

:16:34. > :16:45.

:16:45. > :16:49.were handed the chance to land the a win had seen no wall slumps into

:16:49. > :16:54.the bottom three. On the stroke of half-time they found a crucial

:16:54. > :17:03.second goal. Simpson with a superbly weighted bowl -- ball.

:17:03. > :17:05.Henderson applied the finish. Peltier was the unlucky man here.

:17:05. > :17:09.But Henderson soon sealed Millwall's first away win of the

:17:09. > :17:14.season with his first goal of the afternoon. It was enough to lift

:17:14. > :17:20.the Lions out of the drop zone. Leicester's inconsistency has got

:17:20. > :17:24.me tearing my hair out. A great day for both south London clubs in the

:17:25. > :17:29.championship. A absolutely. Two really tough places to go. Two

:17:29. > :17:33.outstanding results. Crystal Palace, they were struggling to get an away

:17:33. > :17:38.win last season. Absolutely. They've done it four times already.

:17:38. > :17:47.It gives you some idea of the turnaround. When the centre half

:17:47. > :17:49.scores like that you know things are working for you. Henderson has

:17:49. > :17:54.managed to do in half-an-hour what Millwall did in the last nine games

:17:54. > :17:58.of the competition, that his score three times. They have missed him.

:17:58. > :18:08.They probably left themselves a bit short with the two lads going,

:18:08. > :18:08.

:18:08. > :18:12.Harrison and Morrison. He has been missed. He's been out for a month.

:18:12. > :18:16.They are too good to be down there. We know they can play at this level.

:18:16. > :18:19.They've got a good manager. They will turn that round very quickly.

:18:19. > :18:22.All the sudden they will become a difficult side to play. We saw

:18:22. > :18:26.Middlesbrough back to winning ways. Leeds got a fantastic result

:18:26. > :18:29.against Peterborough. Darren Ferguson fuming that Darren O'Dea

:18:29. > :18:33.should not have been on the field of play to score the winner. Should

:18:33. > :18:41.he have been sent off? I see what he means. It's not a malicious

:18:41. > :18:44.tackle but it does take the play out. Is there a covering player?

:18:44. > :18:48.It's the first touch. Where is that touch going? Because it's not the

:18:48. > :18:51.centre of the pitch, will the covering player be able to cut the

:18:51. > :18:54.angled down and take a short route and maybe get in front of the

:18:54. > :18:59.Peterborough player that has been brought down? I don't know, I can

:18:59. > :19:02.see both sides of the coin. You'd probably be a tad harsh if he had

:19:02. > :19:06.gone. Steve Cotterill left Portsmouth to take over as the

:19:06. > :19:10.manager of Nottingham Forest. He made quite an impact in his first

:19:10. > :19:13.game in charge, after Forest ended Middlesbrough's unbeaten league

:19:13. > :19:16.start midweek, to move them out of the relegation zone. On Saturday,

:19:16. > :19:26.Forest were looking for back-to- back wins for the first time this

:19:26. > :19:27.

:19:27. > :19:29.season when they took on Blackpool, Forest in recent years, notably in

:19:29. > :19:33.their dramatic victory in the championship play-offs 18 months

:19:33. > :19:37.ago. But they could find themselves pushed to the limit to maintain

:19:37. > :19:47.their rise up the division. Ian Holloway has reported Tuesday

:19:47. > :19:50.

:19:51. > :19:54.night's match winner Thomas Ince change, defender Clint Hill has

:19:54. > :20:03.been recalled by Queens Park Rangers from his loan. So the team

:20:03. > :20:13.which beat Middlesbrough means that Gunter will move to left-back.

:20:13. > :20:26.

:20:26. > :20:36.Greening is recalled to do a job as Crainey tries it in. Miskick by

:20:36. > :20:46.

:20:46. > :20:56.Ince. Lovely move by Blackpool, Blackpool have stepped up. But

:20:56. > :21:03.

:21:03. > :21:13.moment. Chambers set Miller away down the right-hand side. Baptiste

:21:13. > :21:24.

:21:24. > :21:32.goes to cover. Yet again there is a Gilks. Forest coming back. What was

:21:32. > :21:42.happening to the Blackpool defence? McGugan with the corner. It is in!

:21:42. > :21:45.

:21:45. > :21:51.Forest have scored. Morgan has Morgan met it. Such a strong

:21:51. > :22:01.presence, and it was a powerful header, too. Gilks saw it late,

:22:01. > :22:22.

:22:22. > :22:28.couldn't keep it out. Steve Blackpool play on. Taylor-Fletcher

:22:28. > :22:34.is free. Phillips strikes and scores! There is the response.

:22:34. > :22:38.Cotterill is absolutely furious, but Philips will not be denied.

:22:38. > :22:44.Miller is still down, but Phillips very much on his feet and scoring

:22:44. > :22:54.again. Goal number six of the season. And three minutes after

:22:54. > :23:22.

:23:22. > :23:32.from everybody. Chambers just came charging through, no one near him.

:23:32. > :23:43.

:23:43. > :23:48.Thankfully, his header was nowhere Phillips was there. Did he knock

:23:48. > :23:54.that back into play when it seemed easy to score? Either way, Ince has

:23:54. > :24:01.got the crowd on their feet. Ince is running round them. It hit the

:24:01. > :24:11.post. Fantastic run. He has come alive. And so has the game and so

:24:11. > :24:40.

:24:40. > :24:48.markers. It was Phillips, he could scores - out of nothing! Forest

:24:48. > :24:55.have the advantage. Blackpool hit the post, but Forest have the goal.

:24:55. > :25:05.He was unmarked. First time through the goalkeeper and into the net.

:25:05. > :25:11.

:25:11. > :25:16.For the second time in the game, Moussi has been booked already.

:25:16. > :25:22.That was a deliberate piece of obstruction. It's a yellow and a

:25:22. > :25:28.red card. He is off. He can have no complaints with that. Deliberate

:25:28. > :25:38.abstraction. Nottingham Forest, having taken the lead, are now down

:25:38. > :25:39.

:25:39. > :25:43.gesticulating to the crowd. He jumped over the fence, went almost

:25:43. > :25:48.into the crowd. The stewards were unhappy, the referee was unhappy.

:25:48. > :25:53.That is why he was booked. Here is the second challenge. That was

:25:53. > :26:03.quite cynical. Previously it was joyous, that was cynical. The

:26:03. > :26:07.

:26:07. > :26:17.referee, having booked him once, perfectly, but equally matched by

:26:17. > :26:23.

:26:23. > :26:33.corner. Desperate defending. Cotterill can't believe this. This

:26:33. > :26:43.

:26:43. > :26:47.is surely has to be one of the last boys, but two very different

:26:47. > :26:51.reactions, two very different feelings. Because Nottingham Forest,

:26:51. > :26:58.managed by Steve Copnall in his second game in charge, have taken

:26:58. > :27:03.this boils. -- Steve Cotterill. Two games, two wins - it's easy being a

:27:03. > :27:07.manager. Not at all. It's not been easy, it's a difficult place to

:27:07. > :27:11.come. Ian Holloway has done a fantastic job with Blackpool, they

:27:11. > :27:14.are a very good team. Full of good, honest lads. It's a difficult place

:27:14. > :27:19.to come and get results. We are very pleased but tumble in our

:27:19. > :27:22.victory. That's the way football goes sometimes. We did everything

:27:22. > :27:26.but get in front. It looked like we were going to have to come from

:27:26. > :27:30.behind, we have at the other evening. The majority of it I

:27:30. > :27:35.thought we were slightly the better team. Unfortunately, football is

:27:35. > :27:39.about putting the ball in the net. We got down on two set pieces.

:27:39. > :27:43.just come in and be myself. I'm quite optimistic and like to get a

:27:43. > :27:49.bit of spirit going. But no more than that. Maybe changed a couple

:27:49. > :27:54.of things on organisation, if you set plays may be. They seemed happy

:27:54. > :27:58.and they are a good bunch. Steve Cotterill is having to win over the

:27:58. > :28:03.doubters at Nottingham Forest. Two wins out of two - he is on the way.

:28:04. > :28:09.Very much so. I think we all knew that they were too good to be down

:28:09. > :28:14.there, they've got some good players. They were knocking on the

:28:14. > :28:19.door of the Premiership last year. Sometimes managers go to clubs...

:28:19. > :28:24.Do you think it's a bit of a nice fit? I do. He was at Notts County,

:28:24. > :28:28.he obviously likes Nottingham. won his first four games at Notts

:28:28. > :28:31.County. They were unbeaten in 14 to begin with. There is clearly

:28:31. > :28:36.something there, do you think he can do that much with Forest?

:28:36. > :28:42.They've given themselves a lot to do but it is the League... They are

:28:42. > :28:50.only seven points of the play-offs. Yeah, there's no reason why they

:28:50. > :28:55.can't have a decent run. One player who was there was Paul Ince's son,

:28:55. > :29:00.Thomas Ince. We saw glimpses of him in a Blackpool should. Glimpses of

:29:00. > :29:04.a real prospect, exciting talent in footballing. I watched Thomas when

:29:04. > :29:08.he was in the youth team. They had a good run in the FA Youth Cup. I

:29:08. > :29:12.think he's an excellent player. He's got some good attributes. He

:29:12. > :29:18.has inherited his father's will to win. He's got a bit of ability as

:29:18. > :29:22.well. As for Blackpool, a setback here but so far they've made a

:29:22. > :29:26.steady job of the start of this season. It is A-League that gives

:29:26. > :29:30.everyone an opportunity. Already there are teams up there that have

:29:30. > :29:36.had bad runs this season but have got themselves in a challenging

:29:36. > :29:40.position. Ipswich springs to mind. They had a terrible start. Yes, it

:29:40. > :29:44.allows you a bit of latitude, there's no doubt about that. You

:29:44. > :29:47.don't have to win every game to be up there. These are good times to

:29:47. > :29:50.be a whole City fan, unbeaten in seven in the league. The Tigers

:29:50. > :30:00.have conceded just three goals in that period. The latest team to try

:30:00. > :30:06.

:30:06. > :30:11.to storm the fortress, that is the from their last three games at home.

:30:11. > :30:17.Watford meanwhile have been struggling for points and goals.

:30:17. > :30:23.Hull, like Watford, have only found the net nine times before today.

:30:23. > :30:29.This early effort was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper. Soon

:30:29. > :30:36.after that, the visitors thought they had scored as well. But it was

:30:36. > :30:44.chalked off for offside, correctly. Nine minutes before the break,

:30:44. > :30:54.finally, an actual goal, it was Troy Deeney who claim it, even

:30:54. > :31:04.though it had come off the defender. After the restart, Matt Fryatt made

:31:04. > :31:08.

:31:08. > :31:18.it 1-1. And just before the hour mark, this superb run and cross was

:31:18. > :31:24.met by Chris Iwelumo. But Hull have become a resilient outfit under

:31:25. > :31:33.Nigel Pearson. Liam Rosenior crossed this one for Aaron Maclean

:31:33. > :31:40.to finish. And on a day when statistics took a battering, the

:31:40. > :31:50.final minute provided the most telling of all, Robert Corrine

:31:50. > :31:53.

:31:53. > :31:58.winning it deep into extra time. -- Robert Koren. Barnsley arrived at

:31:58. > :32:02.Cardiff with the home side's strong start to the season faltering. But

:32:02. > :32:08.this was a chance for Cardiff to get their season going again. After

:32:08. > :32:12.10 minutes, they were ahead, through Kenny Miller, who got his

:32:13. > :32:18.fourth league goal of the season. Despite their shaky form, Cardiff

:32:18. > :32:25.have been impressive at home of late. They doubled their advantage

:32:25. > :32:30.after 34 minutes, through substitute Joe Mason. Despite an

:32:30. > :32:36.away record of just one league win this season, Barnsley got one back

:32:36. > :32:40.through Danny Drinkwater at just two minutes later. This was an

:32:40. > :32:50.amazing match, with goals galore. Two minutes later, Cardiff scored

:32:50. > :32:55.again, Whittingham picking out Aron Gunnarsson, who finished superbly.

:32:55. > :33:05.After the break, Barnsley could have got another one, through Denny

:33:05. > :33:05.

:33:05. > :33:09.don't water. -- through Danny Drinkwater. Cardiff got another one

:33:09. > :33:18.thanks to Don Cowie. He went round goalkeeper Luke Steele. Surely that

:33:18. > :33:23.would be enough. But still they pressed forward, and soon, it was

:33:23. > :33:31.five. Aron Gunnarsson was on hand again for his third goal in two

:33:31. > :33:36.league games. But still the scoring was not over. Barnsley threatened a

:33:36. > :33:44.late comeback, with Jim McNulty heading home eight minutes from

:33:44. > :33:54.time. And then they got another, four minutes later, through

:33:54. > :34:04.

:34:05. > :34:14.week had relieved the pressure on Coventry. By contrast, Burnley had

:34:15. > :34:18.

:34:18. > :34:22.gone three games without either a point or a goal. The Coventry front

:34:22. > :34:28.pairing of Lucas Jutkiewicz and Cody McDonald combined, but the

:34:28. > :34:33.goalkeeper thwarted them. Then, Junior Stanislas was given the

:34:33. > :34:37.freedom to roam forward, but the goalkeeper was not quite so

:34:37. > :34:45.accommodating. The first goal finally arrived just before the

:34:45. > :34:52.hour mark. Cody McDonald headed his first goal since his summer move

:34:52. > :34:57.from Gillingham. At the other friend, Stanislas continued to

:34:57. > :35:01.cause problems, but this cross did not get the finish it deserved from

:35:01. > :35:11.substitute Charlie Austin. But it did not take long before he made

:35:11. > :35:12.

:35:12. > :35:18.amends, dummying this one to set-up was Wallace, and Burnley were level.

:35:18. > :35:26.Coventry were forced to play the last few minutes with one man down,

:35:26. > :35:31.thanks to this straight red card for the 18-year-old. And that was

:35:31. > :35:35.followed by some woeful defending. In the fourth minute of six added

:35:35. > :35:45.on by the referee, Charlie has been pounced to seal a dramatic victory

:35:45. > :35:46.

:35:46. > :35:51.for Burnley. -- Charlie Austin. Pompey striker Dave Kitson says

:35:51. > :35:57.they're more United as a team since the recent departure of manager

:35:57. > :36:01.Steve Coppell. Three minutes into this one, the Pompey goalkeeper

:36:01. > :36:11.palmed it long, and Luke Varney got his fourth league goal of the

:36:11. > :36:13.

:36:13. > :36:21.season. -- Steve Cotterill. Pompey threatened a second, but it went

:36:21. > :36:30.wide. Doncaster midfielder Simon Gillett used to play for

:36:30. > :36:37.Southampton. So this goal did not go down very well at Fratton Park.

:36:38. > :36:44.In the second half, Portsmouth went back in front, David Norris guiding

:36:44. > :36:48.the header past the goalkeeper, but seemingly designed -- denied by his

:36:49. > :36:53.teammate, Dave Kitson, who got the final touch. 15 minutes from time,

:36:53. > :36:56.Luke Varney got his second of the match, to make its two wins out of

:36:56. > :37:03.three for Pompey's caretaker manager, Guy Whittingham. So, does

:37:03. > :37:07.he want the job? No. I will say that again, very happy to be

:37:07. > :37:13.leading the team at the moment, and we will do that as long as the club

:37:13. > :37:18.want us to do it, so they have the time to find the right person.

:37:18. > :37:25.a game at the KC Stadium, first of all. Scoring with virtually the

:37:25. > :37:30.last kick of the game, there is real belief about this Hull side.

:37:30. > :37:40.To be fair, this game went completely against the grain.

:37:40. > :37:41.

:37:41. > :37:48.Before this, they had been tied at the back. So for this to finish 3-2,

:37:48. > :37:55.it was quite something. That was a great finish. Great finish from

:37:55. > :38:01.Robert Koren. It has been a while since they scored three goals, I

:38:01. > :38:11.think April was the last time. he builds his sights on a strong

:38:11. > :38:14.defensive Foundation. He would, being a centre half. Two wins out

:38:14. > :38:17.of three for Portsmouth. Interesting comments this week from

:38:17. > :38:23.Dave Kitson, saying that the team are feeling more together since

:38:23. > :38:26.Steve Cotterill has left - what did you make of that? You have got the

:38:26. > :38:30.flip side of the coin. Steve Coppell has gone to Nottingham

:38:30. > :38:36.Forest and got as many points as Steve McClaren got all season. And

:38:36. > :38:42.the same thing has happened down at Portsmouth. It is horses for

:38:42. > :38:50.courses. That is his opinion. I would not want to read anything

:38:51. > :38:58.into it. We do not know the ins and outs of it. Interesting to see a

:38:58. > :39:01.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's name linked with that job. Charlton Athletic in

:39:02. > :39:06.League One began the day top of the pile. Huddersfield were just behind

:39:06. > :39:16.them. Chris Powell's men were looking to take maximum points

:39:16. > :39:20.

:39:20. > :39:29.unbeaten record, Charlton produced precisely the right reaction

:39:29. > :39:35.against Carlisle. They suggested that last week's defeat to

:39:35. > :39:44.Stevenage was no more than a blip. Bradley Wright-Phillips got the

:39:45. > :39:49.second. Wiggins got around the back, and Kermorgant helped himself to

:39:49. > :39:56.his fourth of the season, second of the game. Carlisle have been

:39:56. > :39:59.resilient on the road this season, but once Matthew Robson's second

:39:59. > :40:04.yellow card concluded a miserable first half, it was always going to

:40:04. > :40:11.be a case of how many for Charlton. In the end, it was only four. This

:40:11. > :40:16.one was the worst of the lot from Carlisle's point of view. Danny

:40:16. > :40:25.Hollands' effort went through the legs of the goalkeeper. No such

:40:25. > :40:35.worries for the Charlton 'keeper. He preserved the clean sheet by

:40:35. > :40:39.

:40:39. > :40:43.keeping out this penalty. Before this game, the Huddersfield manager,

:40:43. > :40:47.Lee Clark, said that Jordan Rhodes had enjoyed an astonishing week

:40:47. > :40:53.after his hat-trick seven days ago. Today, he was gifted the opener

:40:53. > :41:03.after just four minutes following a mistake by the Preston 'keeper. At

:41:03. > :41:07.

:41:07. > :41:11.the other end, 40-year-old Ian Bennett showed superb agility.

:41:11. > :41:17.Jordan Rhodes is forging a real name for himself with his

:41:17. > :41:27.goalscoring, at just 21 years old. And his hat-trick arrived three

:41:27. > :41:29.

:41:29. > :41:39.minutes before the hour. There was still time for the visitors to get

:41:39. > :41:40.

:41:40. > :41:45.one back on 61 minutes, but the damage had been done, despite

:41:45. > :41:52.Juvhel Tsoumou's goal. I have played with many great strikers,

:41:52. > :41:58.fantastic goalscorers, among the best in the business, but they did

:41:58. > :42:04.not have a goal ratio like that. I cannot remember it in professional

:42:04. > :42:10.football. So we hope it continues, Jordan has got to be sky high in

:42:10. > :42:15.his confidence. He's a modest lad, so he will not go overboard, but he

:42:15. > :42:18.deserves all the plaudits. Sheffield Wednesday are enjoying

:42:18. > :42:25.their best start to a season at Hillsborough in more than half-a-

:42:25. > :42:29.century. Gary Madine hit the bar. It was double disappointment for

:42:29. > :42:34.him after having a goal disallowed in the first half. Gary Madine is

:42:34. > :42:38.the leading scorer in League One, but he was denied this time by the

:42:38. > :42:44.goalkeeper Ben Williams, although Jones was on hand to put it in.

:42:44. > :42:48.Wednesday were on their way to a seventh successive home League win.

:42:48. > :42:58.Gary Madine was making himself a nuisance again, and Johnson picked

:42:58. > :43:06.

:43:06. > :43:12.Lane, as Uwe Rosler's antics set the tone for a bizarre encounter.

:43:12. > :43:18.He repeatedly attempted to obstruct Alan Sheehan, as he tried to take

:43:18. > :43:28.this free kick. It was inevitable but loathe him Oslo would get sent

:43:28. > :43:31.

:43:31. > :43:41.to the stands. -- it was inevitable that Uwe Rosler would get sent to

:43:41. > :43:41.

:43:41. > :43:48.the stands. Hughes converted his one from the penalty spot. If

:43:48. > :43:55.anyone was still enjoying their half-time drinks, here's what you

:43:55. > :43:59.missed. Barely 10 seconds had elapsed before Clayton Donaldson

:43:59. > :44:09.hammered in this stunning equaliser for Brentford. A draw was the final

:44:09. > :44:13.

:44:13. > :44:18.outcome, both sides losing ground on the promotion chasers. It was an

:44:18. > :44:25.ill-tempered occasion, but Uwe Rosler was unrepentant afterwards.

:44:25. > :44:28.I think I did everything correct as to my technical area. I stood still.

:44:28. > :44:34.Probably the person who did the free kick was not happy that I

:44:34. > :44:38.stood there, but I was in my technical area. In addition to that,

:44:38. > :44:48.my colleague left his technical area and came into my technical

:44:48. > :44:48.

:44:48. > :44:52.area. And then I got sent off. We will definitely be approaching the

:44:52. > :44:56.football League, and I think justice will be done, I believe in

:44:56. > :45:04.justice, so I'm quite confident that on Tuesday I will be on the

:45:04. > :45:07.bench. Despite sitting in a play- off spot, MK Dons only had one win

:45:07. > :45:12.in their last seven matches. They came close to breaking the deadlock

:45:12. > :45:22.with this header. In the second half, this free kick evaded

:45:22. > :45:27.

:45:27. > :45:31.everyone but goalkeeper David better chance to take three points

:45:31. > :45:36.this season. But this Lunch left the referee no option but to show a

:45:36. > :45:41.red card. Down to ten men, Leyton Orient were unable to contain the

:45:41. > :45:47.Blades, who sensed victory. Stephen Quinn made the most of the extra

:45:47. > :45:51.space, and his this heat shot found Chris Porter. The former Derby man

:45:51. > :45:55.made no mistake. With six minutes to go, surely won't going to throw

:45:55. > :46:01.away a lead, but the South Yorkshire side showed their

:46:01. > :46:09.defensive frailty. Simonsen didn't get there and Kevin Lisbie struck

:46:09. > :46:12.to light up the stadium as Leyton Orient are now unbeaten in four.

:46:12. > :46:16.With boasts the lights on losing run something had to give between

:46:16. > :46:22.Chesterfield and Hartlepool. Chesterfield seized the initiative

:46:22. > :46:28.with Leon Clarke's 7th in eight. With Tommy Lee breaking down in the

:46:28. > :46:37.warm-up, this week Punch led to the equaliser. Paul Murray with the

:46:37. > :46:43.finish. Two minutes later, Hartlepool were ahead. Sir James

:46:43. > :46:46.Paul steering a beauty inside the far post. He was signed from

:46:46. > :46:56.Manchester City to give himself some gain time. Embarrassment of

:46:56. > :46:56.

:46:56. > :47:01.riches might have helped them. This provoked some Impromptus all

:47:01. > :47:11.dancing. Chesterfield cannot stop the rot. This consolation goal

:47:11. > :47:15.

:47:15. > :47:19.could not prevent their 5th failure something special to separate the

:47:20. > :47:29.sides and it was provided by Robbie Weir with half an hour remaining.

:47:30. > :47:36.

:47:37. > :47:41.on target as the captain headed home the cross. This time last

:47:41. > :47:44.season he was playing for Havant and Waterlooville, but having

:47:45. > :47:48.arrived at Prenton Park in the summer he scored his first goal in

:47:48. > :47:53.professional football with 10 minutes to go when he showed great

:47:53. > :47:57.improvisation to convert the pullback. Full marks for the finish

:47:57. > :48:00.but they need some work. The visitors were denied what would

:48:00. > :48:10.have been a superb equaliser which the free kick saw go a couple of

:48:10. > :48:13.inches too high. Just one win in nine for Walsall. Olda made easy

:48:13. > :48:18.work of Wycombe Wanderers at Boundary Park. All the scoring

:48:18. > :48:22.cumin and second half with Chris Taylor making the most of the slip.

:48:22. > :48:26.The ball steered into the corner. The home side were in no mood to

:48:26. > :48:32.relent. Robbie Simpson thought he doubled the lead and would have had

:48:32. > :48:40.it not been for Super defending. The points were sealed nine minutes

:48:40. > :48:50.from time. A beautiful finish to return Paul Dickov's side to

:48:50. > :48:52.

:48:52. > :48:55.winning ways. Murphy's law dictated this would be a goalless draw. That

:48:55. > :49:03.and the controversial decision from Ian Williamson. Mark Roberts had

:49:03. > :49:08.the ball and the Net but a penalty and a red card was awarded. The

:49:08. > :49:18.spot kick was saved, a second miss from the spot in three games from

:49:18. > :49:19.

:49:19. > :49:22.for Bournemouth in recent weeks. Lee Bradbury's site were without a

:49:22. > :49:27.win since August the they took the lead four minutes before half site

:49:27. > :49:30.when Mark Pugh was on hand to hit home his 7th of the season. A few

:49:30. > :49:35.minutes later he should have become provider. His cross found ways

:49:35. > :49:40.Thomas, whose search for a goal a home goes on although he won't come

:49:40. > :49:44.across immediate -- easy opportunity. From the resulting

:49:44. > :49:47.goal kick, the goal came, giving the travelling fans something to

:49:47. > :49:51.cheer about. They will well and truly off their feet a minute since

:49:51. > :49:57.the second half and the turnaround has completed one and the bishop

:49:57. > :50:01.gave the sheikh is the lead. The Cherries pushed for an equaliser as

:50:01. > :50:11.the second half went on. Thomas failing to convert a close-range

:50:11. > :50:15.

:50:15. > :50:19.header as the visitors held on. Now just four home points this season.

:50:19. > :50:26.Rochdale started well at St James' Park. But Trotman was denied

:50:26. > :50:31.brilliantly. Nathan Eccleston is on a month's loan from Liverpool and

:50:31. > :50:39.made an instant him back. Ashley Grimes crossing for his debut goal.

:50:39. > :50:43.This week, a group of Greek fans set up a siege mentality support

:50:43. > :50:50.for Paul Tisdale. Not Pirlo equalising on the stroke of half-

:50:50. > :50:54.time. That was the boost of a home side needed. J Taylor was fouled

:50:54. > :50:58.after the break, and the power shift was complete. Converting from

:50:58. > :51:04.the spot, punishing for -- of visitors for the earlier

:51:04. > :51:10.opportunities. The points were made safe nine minutes from time.

:51:10. > :51:13.Wholeness gave the ball away and he laid in J Taylor to see all three

:51:13. > :51:23.points and lift Exeter of the bottom of the table at the expense

:51:23. > :51:31.That will do Exeter's Conference the world of good. We have to talk

:51:31. > :51:36.about Jordan Rhodes. I just told you, 14 in -- in club and country.

:51:36. > :51:46.He to his incredible. Absolutely brilliant. He is a young lad but

:51:46. > :51:48.

:51:48. > :51:52.has the physical stature of someone a lot older. That is a good finish.

:51:52. > :51:57.Be chairman said they don't have to sell the star players until January.

:51:57. > :52:03.That will reassure the fans, Wendy? It cause, they are flying. They

:52:03. > :52:08.sold Pilkington in the summer and they are a club that if anything

:52:08. > :52:12.will go the other way. There is no reason they should let anyone go.

:52:12. > :52:17.It looks as if they might be in. And interesting build-up to the

:52:17. > :52:20.game involving Notts County and Brentford. Martin Allen had to say

:52:20. > :52:25.something about the budget of Brentford, but what about this,

:52:25. > :52:33.with the manager getting in the way of the Notts County free kick?

:52:33. > :52:40.is classic, comic strip. This is fantastic. You look at the player,

:52:40. > :52:46.and you wonder if he can get any closer. Martin has had enough of

:52:46. > :52:52.this. I am surprised it took him that long. He is not holding back.

:52:52. > :52:56.He is playing the straight man brilliantly. Fantastic. All good

:52:56. > :53:00.fun. The funny thing is, he said afterwards that Martin Allen let

:53:00. > :53:06.the technical area so he should be reprimanded. He has actually not do

:53:06. > :53:10.anything wrong. Shall we say was not quite in the spirit of the game.

:53:10. > :53:15.Sheffield Wednesday have played a good few home games, but seven

:53:15. > :53:18.consecutive victories, their best home league start for 50 years. I

:53:18. > :53:23.think you said in the past that the big following at Hillsborough can

:53:23. > :53:28.put more pressure on, but the players, credit to them are turning

:53:28. > :53:34.it on. The only way brings pressure is if you don't go out and give

:53:34. > :53:37.everything. It brings pressure if you don't get results. Then people

:53:37. > :53:42.become introverted. But they are getting results and a big crowd,

:53:42. > :53:47.they are knowledgeable and passionate. And they get behind you.

:53:47. > :53:51.There are 22 or 23,000 people and that is a bonus for anyone. You

:53:51. > :53:56.want to go and play all four boy in front of big crowds. Absolutely.

:53:56. > :54:00.Well done to Tranmere whose flying start goes on. Last season AFC

:54:00. > :54:03.Wimbledon versus Crawley Town was a conference game played out between

:54:03. > :54:08.teams desperate to reach the Football League. They both arrived

:54:08. > :54:12.and in some style. Crawley were top of League 2 with Wimbledon in six.

:54:12. > :54:22.We went to the game of the day to see to get -- different teams to

:54:22. > :54:22.

:54:22. > :54:27.There is always a degree of trepidation for clubs coming out of

:54:27. > :54:30.the Conference and into the Football League, and AFC and

:54:30. > :54:34.Crawley have continued where they left off. There is a symmetry to

:54:34. > :54:39.the achievement of the clubs. In the blue corner, A F C Wimbledon,

:54:39. > :54:44.who a decade ago did not even exist but whose five promotions in nine

:54:44. > :54:49.seasons have brought their famous name back into the Football League.

:59:55. > :59:59.Unfortunately, Steve Evans didn't want to speak to us after the game.

:59:59. > :00:03.You would think that after the terrific start Crawley had made

:01:34. > :01:37.Sderot says there is still plenty of room for improvement. It was

:01:37. > :01:41.disappointing for me. We should be starting games like we started the

:03:27. > :03:33.Grabban. Shrewsbury hit back before half-time. Grandison headed back

:03:33. > :03:39.across goal for Cansdell-Sherriff to volley home. Morecambe prevailed

:03:39. > :03:43.in this clash between promotion contenders. Port Vale must be sick

:03:43. > :03:52.of the side of Jason Price. He scored against them for Barnet and

:03:52. > :03:58.August and did the same after Tomlinson Guardian this shot. The

:03:58. > :04:02.ambitious free-kick had Tomlinson back pedalling furiously. Port Vale

:04:02. > :04:08.have broken scoring records this season. Unfortunately, they

:04:08. > :04:12.conceded a few as well. Though not too many have been as good as

:04:12. > :04:16.Alessandra's quality finish. Port Vale have and one in any of their

:05:48. > :05:54.the exclamation point to the move will. The defeat leaves the

:05:54. > :05:59.pilgrims four points adrift at the bottom. With three league wins out

:06:21. > :06:25.Sean Miller was centimetres away from finding the same corner as

:06:26. > :06:31.Draper. The same post later prevented to draw from levelling

:06:31. > :06:40.the scores. Back-to-back wins put Macclesfield in a striking distance

:07:42. > :07:46.lost five in a row. But the Premier League champions are riding on

:07:46. > :07:53.Tuesday, they put in a performance to remember. It took just three

:07:53. > :07:56.minutes for McGlashan to open the scoring. Darren Jones and Danny

:07:56. > :08:02.Hylton were left out, so they couldn't miss the cup game. The

:08:02. > :08:06.calculated risk seemed the sensible option when Vincenti made it two.

:08:06. > :08:12.Certainly a moment to enjoy. Dagenham and Redbridge couldn't

:08:22. > :08:38.

:08:38. > :08:41.was an easy decision for the to restore the three-goal lead

:08:41. > :08:49.before the half-time whistle. His diving header quashed any faint

:08:53. > :08:57.the most of his reprieve, after the FA overturned a red card he

:08:57. > :09:02.received last week. It was definitely a day to forget for the

:11:40. > :11:43.Well done. Let's take a look at the automatic promotion spot after
