:00:36. > :00:40.Hello there. 24 hours after Valentine's Day - and there was

:00:41. > :00:43.definitely no love lost in the Skybet Football League today and the

:00:44. > :00:46.blustery conditions made for a hugely testing afternoon for sides

:00:47. > :00:50.right across the country. And with me to reflect on the day's big

:00:51. > :00:53.winners and losers tonight, a special welcome to the Football

:00:54. > :00:56.League's Ginger Mourhino and the Big bad Wolf - otherwise known as the

:00:57. > :01:00.Burnley manager Sean Dyche and Reading striker Jason Roberts. Guys,

:01:01. > :01:09.great to see you. And here's what's coming up tonight. Having suffered

:01:10. > :01:14.their fourth defeat in six games at Watford, will fresh Chinese

:01:15. > :01:17.investment at Saint Andrews be a turning point for Birmingham? We

:01:18. > :01:24.will have the best of their game against Huddersfield. And it is

:01:25. > :01:27.another busy round of Madrid fixtures, so we have the latest from

:01:28. > :01:35.the promotion and relegation battles as the season goes up a gear. Six

:01:36. > :01:38.years on from guiding Hull City to the promised land of Premier League

:01:39. > :01:41.football, Phil Brown is once again chasing promotion with Southend

:01:42. > :01:47.United. I'm at Roots Hall for the visit of Exeter City. In all, we've

:01:48. > :02:01.got 62 goals on the way. Some, well worth staying up for. We start

:02:02. > :02:04.tonight at Deepdale, Preston, as the football family paid tribute to one

:02:05. > :02:09.of England's greatest sportsmen. Sir Tom Finney died yesterday at the age

:02:10. > :02:12.of 91. Arguably the most gifted player of his generation, Sir Tom

:02:13. > :02:16.was a one-club man, representing his home Town team on more than 400

:02:17. > :02:19.occasions in a career spanning 14 years. Add to the fact he also

:02:20. > :02:22.served his country in Montgomery's Eighth Army during the war, he

:02:23. > :02:30.returned to civilian life, winning 76 caps and scoring 30 goals for

:02:31. > :02:35.England. Twice voted Footballer of the Year at a time when he was

:02:36. > :02:37.earning ?14 a week. He turned down a hugely lucrative and potentially

:02:38. > :02:42.life-changing offer to play in Italy. Retiring at the age of 38,

:02:43. > :02:45.the man affectionately known as the "Preston Plumber" spent much of the

:02:46. > :02:49.rest of his life working tirelessly for his home-town club and for the

:02:50. > :03:05.good of football. He'll be sorely missed. Absolute legend. He was Mr

:03:06. > :03:12.Preston North end. He was order -- model father, a model person. What

:03:13. > :03:16.he did was immense. Not just within football but throughout the charity

:03:17. > :03:19.world as well. He is a big loss. The greatest player, and nice man, what

:03:20. > :03:29.more can you want? Few of the fans who came to pay

:03:30. > :03:34.respects to Tom Finney would have witnessed first-hand, but archive

:03:35. > :03:38.pictures and memories past down from older supporters, so everyone inside

:03:39. > :03:41.Edendale knew that they were honouring one of the all-time greats

:03:42. > :03:45.of the game, a gentleman and a wonderful family man.

:03:46. > :03:56.The brilliant winger war the white shirt with such the sinks 14 years,

:03:57. > :04:00.and his name was on every Preston shirt on what was an emotional

:04:01. > :04:02.afternoon. The slow start from Preston was understandable and

:04:03. > :04:06.Mathieu Baudry should have put Leyton Orient in front. Slowly,

:04:07. > :04:12.Preston started to hit their stride. Paul Gallagher latched onto a Scott

:04:13. > :04:18.Weisman cut back and was only just wide of the far post. Preston since

:04:19. > :04:21.the breakthrough but following a great knock-down from Kevin Lisbie

:04:22. > :04:25.just before the break, it was Mathieu Baudry who popped up inside

:04:26. > :04:31.the box Leyton Orient, and this time he did not miss. Just after the

:04:32. > :04:35.one-hour mark, Mathieu Baudry was penalised for a challenge on Craig

:04:36. > :04:42.Davies. Marking and mixed afternoon for the Frenchman. From the spot,

:04:43. > :04:45.Preston's top scorer, Joe Garner, calmly levelled the game, with his

:04:46. > :04:51.16th goal in his last 18 appearances. Back in November,

:04:52. > :04:54.Preston became the first side this season to beat Leyton Orient at

:04:55. > :04:59.Brisbane Road in the league, and almost completed the double, but

:05:00. > :05:03.Kevin Davies failed narrowly to provide the finishing touch, on the

:05:04. > :05:09.day when Preston paid tribute to a legend. He was a fantastic person

:05:10. > :05:15.for this football club, he had a fantastic career, and you can see

:05:16. > :05:19.from the comments nationwide and worldwide about him, that probably

:05:20. > :05:28.summed the man up. That stops a run of defeats for

:05:29. > :05:33.Orient, but that was an emotional day at the Dell with everyone paying

:05:34. > :05:37.tribute to Sir Tom Finney. We have not seen him play in the flesh, but

:05:38. > :05:42.it is clear that we have lost a very special football and a gentleman. It

:05:43. > :05:48.certainly seemed that way from the bits of history that have come up

:05:49. > :05:51.about his life. I knew him as a kid, my father always mention names

:05:52. > :05:58.like that, Sir Stanley Matthews, etc. To go from being a top player

:05:59. > :06:06.to being a plumber, that will not happen to many top players now. It

:06:07. > :06:11.was an emotional day, you could see from the fans what he meant. He was

:06:12. > :06:15.a figurehead for the community. To be a winger in the time that he

:06:16. > :06:19.played, I can match and he was kicked from pillar to post, and the

:06:20. > :06:23.never be booked sent off, that shows the stature of the man. The way that

:06:24. > :06:30.people speak about him, they speak of at him in the same sort of class

:06:31. > :06:38.as the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. He was the Messi of his time. You

:06:39. > :06:45.wonder if we will see his like again. Players move more freely now,

:06:46. > :06:49.it is rare that players stay at a club for that length of time and

:06:50. > :06:54.become, that get that legendary status, that 1-club name. It is a

:06:55. > :07:03.shame but it is a sign of times in football. Well, in The Championship,

:07:04. > :07:06.we start at the Goldsands as Sean's second-placed Burnley arrived on the

:07:07. > :07:10.south coast to face Bournemouth. For the Cherries manager Eddie Howe it

:07:11. > :07:13.was a chance to get one over his former club. While for the Clarets,

:07:14. > :07:15.they were looking to open up a six point gap on the chasing pack.

:07:16. > :07:19.former club. While for the Clarets, they were looking to open up In a

:07:20. > :07:24.week that have seen storms battering Ballmer mercilessly, as footballers

:07:25. > :07:28.were determined not to follow suit. The promotion chasers would be

:07:29. > :07:30.pushed hard by their hosts, who were quick to get to grips with the

:07:31. > :07:35.tricky conditions to stop Simon prances unleashing a shot that Tom

:07:36. > :07:42.Heaton smothered. Borno escape Turf Moor with a point fax to their

:07:43. > :07:46.record signing tequila rented. This was his only other goal for the club

:07:47. > :07:50.since joining from Malmo in August. That sparked the burly response. A

:07:51. > :07:55.double substitution just after 60 minutes that was a masterstroke.

:07:56. > :07:59.Keith Treacy converting the deflected cross from fellow

:08:00. > :08:05.substitute Ross Wallace. If Burnley thought that would be the turning

:08:06. > :08:10.point that, they were wrong. The home side redoubled their efforts.

:08:11. > :08:14.After Lewis Grabban brushed aside Jason Shackell, the keeper stood his

:08:15. > :08:18.ground at the near post before denying the home side again in

:08:19. > :08:23.spectacular fashion, shifting position to get his fingertips onto

:08:24. > :08:26.this header. At the end of a good week for Burnley, that had garnered

:08:27. > :08:31.six points, this was becoming a stiff test of their defensive

:08:32. > :08:36.resolve. They survived another boring attack with Yann Kermogant

:08:37. > :08:40.heading wide. On balance, the Clarets could not argue with a draw

:08:41. > :08:44.that made second place more secure, regardless of what QPR do on Sunday

:08:45. > :08:52.against Reading. The Cherries finished frustrated. In a game of

:08:53. > :08:58.poor quality because of the pitch, we got into the lead, and you hope

:08:59. > :09:02.that that would be enough, but apart from that goal, something I have

:09:03. > :09:05.said a few times this season, it is a disappointment, because in the

:09:06. > :09:10.main, we defended very well for the majority of the game.

:09:11. > :09:19.It was not the best quality game. More low lights than highlights.

:09:20. > :09:23.They did well to get the game on. Everyone knows how bad the weather

:09:24. > :09:28.has been down there. To try and get the moisture out of that pitch, and

:09:29. > :09:34.unfortunately, it played poorly, and it was hard work for both teams.

:09:35. > :09:40.Hard work for your players to get back from a goal behind. Yes, and we

:09:41. > :09:46.had played midweek. But we went into it in good spirits. As you can see,

:09:47. > :09:51.it was a soft goal from a set piece, from our point of view, and it was a

:09:52. > :09:55.soft goal from their point of view, getting a deflection. We were

:09:56. > :10:00.pleased, because we were not as good as we had been, recently. The

:10:01. > :10:07.comeback at this level shows real desire. Tell us about the success of

:10:08. > :10:11.Burnley this season, you were 16th favourites for promotion and have

:10:12. > :10:15.been in the top three since September 21, best start in over 100

:10:16. > :10:24.years. What is the secret? What has happened? Like any manager and group

:10:25. > :10:28.of players, you work very hard. We put it down pretty cleanly to the

:10:29. > :10:34.players, and to preseason, which added to the flavour and a mix of

:10:35. > :10:38.the group, and we agreed as a group that we can only go one game as a

:10:39. > :10:44.time. We have done that. We have a very good preseason. The performance

:10:45. > :10:49.levels preseason were very high, and we took that into this season. And

:10:50. > :10:52.then that builds confidence and belief. The home wrecker has been

:10:53. > :11:00.fantastic, we have been good on the road, good defensively. -- the home

:11:01. > :11:07.record. We have that belief and energy to the side. We have a good

:11:08. > :11:12.framework, all those good things. It is working. You see some

:11:13. > :11:17.similarities with the Reading side of a couple of seasons ago. Yes,

:11:18. > :11:21.consistency of selection through the spine of the team, the top two

:11:22. > :11:25.working hard on getting their fair share of goals, but working hard to

:11:26. > :11:29.the team, giving the team a good platform to build attacks. They

:11:30. > :11:34.obviously know what they are doing, defensively, linking it up, and

:11:35. > :11:38.working hard for the team. On the 1st of August when you lost Charlie

:11:39. > :11:44.Austin, I said on Twitter, that you had lost those goals from the last

:11:45. > :11:46.campaign, and the three remaining strikers had scored eight times in

:11:47. > :11:53.the league, and you did not get anybody else. You are one of the

:11:54. > :11:58.unbelievers. But 40 goals between Danny Ings and Sam Vokes, they have

:11:59. > :12:03.been phenomenal. Danny Ings is a good player. He was good last

:12:04. > :12:11.season, we used them across the front line. He has played wide on

:12:12. > :12:15.the left and wide on the right. He is part of Burnley, we wanted him

:12:16. > :12:19.there. He has been floating around clubs and going on loan, and he had

:12:20. > :12:24.not been the main star of the team, but he has been terrific. And Ashley

:12:25. > :12:30.Barnes has come in and made that challenge. It is a pretty small

:12:31. > :12:34.squad. Are you tired of hearing the pundits say, it is not going to

:12:35. > :12:40.last, only one injury away from collapsing. There is an aspect of

:12:41. > :12:44.truth to that, you do not want injuries, of course, you do not want

:12:45. > :12:48.to be affected by that, but if that challenge comes around, and there

:12:49. > :12:52.have been occasions when we have had people going down injured and we

:12:53. > :12:56.have managed to fill their slots, and we have only had 18 starters, to

:12:57. > :13:02.give you an idea how small the squaddies, but they are a very

:13:03. > :13:06.good, motivated group of players. We have got a good framework to the

:13:07. > :13:11.team defensively, and we have that strong mentality, that belief, as a

:13:12. > :13:16.group. And it has taken us a long way. We have the continues. -- we

:13:17. > :13:26.hope it continues. Next to St Andrew's, where

:13:27. > :13:29.Birmingham City have had a torrid time this season. Without a win

:13:30. > :13:32.there since September, Lee Clark's men were hoping to end their ten

:13:33. > :13:36.game run against his former side Huddersfield. For the visitors, they

:13:37. > :13:38.had the chance to put an end to their travel sickness after four

:13:39. > :13:41.consecutive away defeats. Laurence Herdman watched this one. Birmingham

:13:42. > :13:43.City sit nine points clear of the relegation zone. Solid progress with

:13:44. > :13:45.a young team, but the home jinx stretches ten matches without a

:13:46. > :13:48.league win. Mid-table Huddersfield live four points and four places

:13:49. > :13:53.above their hosts, but Huddersfield Town have lost the last four matches

:13:54. > :13:57.on the road. In a month there has been a turnover of 16 players at

:13:58. > :14:03.Birmingham, two changes today, with Lee Novak returning to partner

:14:04. > :14:09.Federico Macheda upfront, and 17-year-old Rhys Brown also stars.

:14:10. > :14:13.Huddersfield. Scorer James Vaughan failed a fitness test to face his

:14:14. > :14:22.hometown club, so Danny Ward gets the nod in attack. Former Birmingham

:14:23. > :14:32.City Academy striker Joe Lolley is on the bench after his move from

:14:33. > :14:44.Kidderminster. Clayton finds Smith. Knocking the ball around nicely,

:14:45. > :14:49.Mark Robins' side. Decent ball, turned over his own crossbar by

:14:50. > :14:52.Martin. The control initially met Dixon down but he found an excellent

:14:53. > :15:01.delivery into the Birmingham City penalty area. Danny Ward has gone

:15:02. > :15:08.across to take a corner kick for Huddersfield. They have pushed the

:15:09. > :15:12.big men forward. And the target is Joe Hart. It has just gone over the

:15:13. > :15:19.crossbar. Anthony Gerard, almost finding the back of the net.

:15:20. > :15:31.It came off perhaps the Birmingham City defend, PackWood. Just

:15:32. > :15:35.beginning to get ahead of steam, rob robin's side. From a distance. A

:15:36. > :15:42.shot on goal. That was a terrific effort from Danny Ward. It had

:15:43. > :15:48.Randolph scrambling away. Darren Ward must have been 25-yards out,

:15:49. > :15:56.unchallenged, collected the ball. Set his sights. A good effort. We

:15:57. > :16:02.have had some memorable results this season, in terms of wins. They are

:16:03. > :16:06.passing the ball well in these early stages. Adam Clayton is

:16:07. > :16:11.orchestrating most good things from midfield. Again, too much room for

:16:12. > :16:16.Ward, who will lift it into the Birmingham penalty area. The opening

:16:17. > :16:22.goal is scored by Oliver Norwood, the Birmingham City marking was

:16:23. > :16:29.poor. Fine finish by the Huddersfield midfielder. It was

:16:30. > :16:36.decent midfield play. Lifted forward by Ward. It was well taken by

:16:37. > :16:41.Norwood. It was driven past Randolph. Nothing Paul Robinson

:16:42. > :16:44.could do. Nothing that Reece Brown, the teenager, could do. Norwood got

:16:45. > :16:57.between both and finished in style. Here come Huddersfield once more.

:16:58. > :17:04.Dixon. Driven towards Ward. He got onto the end of it. Wells. He tried

:17:05. > :17:13.to back it in towards goal. Randolph juggled the ball. Finally, made the

:17:14. > :17:20.save. Another half chance for Huddersfield Town. Once more, there

:17:21. > :17:27.were big gaps at the heart of that Birmingham City defence.

:17:28. > :17:48.Caddis will try and fashion a cross. It was blocked by a combination of

:17:49. > :17:52.Clayton and Hogg. It's just wide by Adeyemi. It should have hit the

:17:53. > :17:59.target. Clever by the Scotland winger, Chris Burke. An accurate

:18:00. > :18:06.cross. That was a coat of paint wide. Here come Huddersfield on the

:18:07. > :18:13.edge of the penalty. There didn't seem to be too much on. Wells is

:18:14. > :18:18.already in scoring form since his arrival from Bradford City. He got

:18:19. > :18:34.away from Martin. He managed to force a save.

:18:35. > :18:49.It's a nice touch by Novak and Macheda. Plenty of room on the right

:18:50. > :18:53.side. Hughes finds Lee. It will come back to Hughes. Straight at the

:18:54. > :18:59.goalkeeper. The most enterprising passage of play from Birmingham in

:19:00. > :19:06.this second period. It was good build-up. Macheda started it. Lee

:19:07. > :19:11.joined in. When he found the past it worked its way back to Hughes, and

:19:12. > :19:19.his shot was straight at the Huddersfield keeper. Clayton. Width

:19:20. > :19:27.offered by Dixon, who has Caddis in front of him. And Clayton, Clayton

:19:28. > :19:36.running towards the penalty area. What a shot! Adam Clayton, beards

:19:37. > :19:43.are in vowing, and so are long-range shots like that. Adding to his

:19:44. > :19:49.winning goal last weekend. Clayton got away from Hughes. He just bent

:19:50. > :19:52.it. He deceived Randolph, the flight of ball in the air. What a strike

:19:53. > :20:08.from Adam Clayton. It's opening up here a little bit

:20:09. > :20:14.for Hammill. Onside is Wells to finish it. There was late flag.

:20:15. > :20:21.Wells wasn't aware he was offside much he drew an excellent save from

:20:22. > :20:28.Darren Randolph. Hammill unchallenged. Was Wells onside?

:20:29. > :20:33.Well, there are still 10 minutes to play. Disgruntled with the

:20:34. > :20:37.performance this afternoon, and the ongoing political shenanigans at the

:20:38. > :20:47.club, Birmingham fans have had their fill. Here's Macheda. It has got

:20:48. > :20:53.away #23r Southern. Is there a consolation late on for Birmingham?

:20:54. > :20:57.It was slow and laboured. Across from Caddis. There is a chance here.

:20:58. > :21:04.It's into the roof of the net. Birmingham City do have their

:21:05. > :21:09.consolation. Substitute Lee has at last drawn one or two late smiles,

:21:10. > :21:17.but none from manager Lee Clark. Too little, too late for the home side.

:21:18. > :21:25.Burke played it back to Caddis. A high looping cross. Zig gic does

:21:26. > :21:34.what he does best. High into the Huddersfield net from Lee. You've

:21:35. > :21:41.got to have courage and determination to come back from

:21:42. > :21:46.setbacks. Our fans quite rightly sank towards the end when we had our

:21:47. > :21:51.first attempt mid dwoel goal. You can't play in home games without

:21:52. > :21:56.putting them under pressure and not have attempts at goal. It's football

:21:57. > :22:03.suicide. That's what we're doing at the moment. That's not certainly

:22:04. > :22:07.performance... That's worthy of this club. I thought we passed it well. I

:22:08. > :22:11.thought we controlled the game from start to finish. I thought it was a

:22:12. > :22:15.scrappy game, you know, in stages in spells. Difficult conditions, but I

:22:16. > :22:20.thought we thoroughly deserved it. I thought we passed it well and nearly

:22:21. > :22:24.a perfect away performance. What is of concern to me is we have

:22:25. > :22:28.magnificent fans, it looks like my play hers are frightened to play in

:22:29. > :22:33.front of them. That's something we have to try and sort out quickly. A

:22:34. > :22:38.pretty honest assessment from Lee Clark. We will get back to that. For

:22:39. > :22:43.Huddersfield it's an toned their recent away form. Jason, two goals

:22:44. > :22:47.from midfield. That middle third you were impressed it I was very

:22:48. > :22:51.impressed. Ward was at the centre of everything good that Huddersfield

:22:52. > :22:57.did. Fantastic ball here. He isn't looking up. Noes where he is -- know

:22:58. > :23:02.where is he is. Fantastic touch. Excellent finish. He made the runs

:23:03. > :23:06.all game. He has seen him, knows where he wants to put the ball. The

:23:07. > :23:11.touch was fantastic because you have players closing him down. The finish

:23:12. > :23:15.was good as well. Norwood had an excellent game. In midfield they won

:23:16. > :23:19.the ball well. They won it high. Here, Clayton, show as little bit of

:23:20. > :23:24.quality, yes, from the keeper's perspective he will be disappointed

:23:25. > :23:29.with that. It moves a little bit. You would want your goalkeeper to

:23:30. > :23:33.get something on that. That was just the way they were performing in

:23:34. > :23:36.midfield. Stronger, won the challenges, pressed high up the

:23:37. > :23:41.pitch. It was the kind of performance you need away from home

:23:42. > :23:44.to win football matches at that level. One of the three sides you

:23:45. > :23:51.have lost to this season. How impressed are you with his men? They

:23:52. > :23:59.were very good. They have spent money this year. They have brought

:24:00. > :24:05.in Vaughan, Wells, amongst others. They had a push this year. I think

:24:06. > :24:10.consistency is their biggest challenge. O on their day, like a

:24:11. > :24:15.lot of Championship teams, on their day good side, hard to win games,

:24:16. > :24:22.they have been a bit inconsistent. What about the fear factor of

:24:23. > :24:28.playing at St Andrews, no win in 11. Was it too o honest? Maybe. There

:24:29. > :24:30.are issues, loan players going out of consistency selection that he

:24:31. > :24:35.found hard with the players coming in and out. To come out and talk

:24:36. > :24:39.about the challenges they face with their home form in the public

:24:40. > :24:42.domain, maybe that's something you would keep in the dressing room. The

:24:43. > :24:45.fact there is maybe a fear factor to come out and say it, does that

:24:46. > :24:50.magify the situation for young players and players who may be

:24:51. > :24:54.aren't use to this level of pressure? Each manager tries to get

:24:55. > :24:59.the best out of their team. Maybe he is trying to provoke a response from

:25:00. > :25:04.his players by speaking openly am he wears his heart on his sleeve, Lee.

:25:05. > :25:08.He means everything he says and he will want to share that with him. He

:25:09. > :25:15.used to play like that. We wish him well. Sure. Let's find out how the

:25:16. > :25:19.rest of the Championship unfolded then, starting at Portman Road where

:25:20. > :25:21.Mick McCarthy's Ipswich had the chance to go within touching

:25:22. > :25:23.distance of the play-off places as they entertained a Blackpool side in

:25:24. > :25:28.freefall. they entertained a Blackpool side

:25:29. > :25:34.For some Suffolk is unconquered frontier. Blackpool had never won

:25:35. > :25:38.here. They arrived at Ipswich with a a caretaker-manager and without a

:25:39. > :25:44.victory anywhere since November. Not that the they seem down on

:25:45. > :25:51.themselves. Haroun tested the keeper. The Belgian was involved in

:25:52. > :25:54.the somewhat chaotic build-up to one of the home side's better

:25:55. > :25:59.opportunities, gifting the ball away and watching with justifiably

:26:00. > :26:03.concern as Murphy let fly. The Irishman had scored a stoppage-time

:26:04. > :26:09.winner at Bloomfield Road in the autumn. Blackpool average less than

:26:10. > :26:14.a goal per game but set-pieces are a strength. McMahon's free-kick

:26:15. > :26:24.locating ma Kenzie. He located the ground and was the only visitor to

:26:25. > :26:30.claim an unlikely penalty. A third draw in five games for an interim

:26:31. > :26:35.manager in search of a permanent posting. A disappointed dressing

:26:36. > :26:40.room. We had a few chances to get that goal. I think if we get a goal

:26:41. > :26:47.and go in front we can go on and get a decent result. Had a flurry late

:26:48. > :26:51.on, but no, we didn't do enough to win. It I'll take the point. Nothing

:26:52. > :27:04.else I can do about it. It's a game we could have lost.

:27:05. > :27:09.Jonathan Bond must have feared the worst when he was beaten by Jonathan

:27:10. > :27:15.Woodgate. Offside said the officials. Watford survived and

:27:16. > :27:20.capitalised after the break. Fernandez Forestieri made it

:27:21. > :27:25.possible causing havoc when he ran at Gibson. Boro could have little

:27:26. > :27:31.complaint over the referee it decision. Step forward the stand in

:27:32. > :27:39.skipper for his 14th goal of the season. That was the good news. Now

:27:40. > :27:46.for the bad. Deeney had nine other team-mates when Diakite was shown a

:27:47. > :27:53.straight red card. Middlesbrough sensed their chance. If Graham had

:27:54. > :27:59.shown the abg are ra sill -- accuracy that made him feared four

:28:00. > :28:04.years ago. A player was sent off for a needless challenge on the

:28:05. > :28:19.goalkeeper. The referee produced a second re-yellow card for Ben

:28:20. > :28:28.Gibson. His departure left the gaps that players thrive on. The chances

:28:29. > :28:32.kept on coming. Watford moved ahead of Middlesbrough after three wins

:28:33. > :28:40.out of four. It's difficult for me to do the (inaudible) after all the

:28:41. > :28:46.things that that you said to the play happen, we didn't score any

:28:47. > :28:51.goals. We didn't do nothing that I told them in the meeting room. Game

:28:52. > :28:55.changed with the two sending offs. Opened up a lot. We had chances to

:28:56. > :28:59.make the game safer. Obviously, you know the longer we went without

:29:00. > :29:06.putting the second goal away the Middlesbrough were always dangerous

:29:07. > :29:10.as well. Military wall may have been perched just above the bottom three,

:29:11. > :29:14.Ian Holloway looked happy enough knowing a victory over Bolton would

:29:15. > :29:21.drive their opponents into the mire. That plan suffered a set back.

:29:22. > :29:25.Jutkiewicz is beginning to deliver. Two goals in four starts a

:29:26. > :29:30.respectable return. The home side felt hard done by after making much

:29:31. > :29:36.of the early running and could barely believe their eye as this

:29:37. > :29:40.effort was turned to safety. Bolton's backline was looking far

:29:41. > :29:44.from water tight. Easter was close to levelling the scores. Baptiste to

:29:45. > :29:53.the rescue this time. That goal was living a charmed life. Eagles'

:29:54. > :29:56.free-kick crashed against the post. Baptiste burst through the middle to

:29:57. > :30:00.realise the return pass had been delivered a fraction too late. The

:30:01. > :30:04.offside flag kept Millwall in the match. At the other end Bolton had

:30:05. > :30:19.Bogdan to thank for protecting the lead. A fine save to deny Woolford.

:30:20. > :30:24.Even if Bolton's style wasn't to his taste. Shittu was penalised for

:30:25. > :30:32.handball. Jutkiewicz had the chance to put the result beyond doubt.

:30:33. > :30:39.David Forde had other ideas. The keeper played a part in a move that

:30:40. > :30:46.rescued the match for Millwall. Steve Morison sprung the offside

:30:47. > :30:50.trap. Jackson couldn't beat Bogdan. Woolford put his name on the

:30:51. > :30:54.scoresheet. Both sides had to settle for a point a piece when they

:30:55. > :31:00.thought they might have had more. We had to earn that because our keeper

:31:01. > :31:03.made a brilliant save. Woolford smashed it in. I could only see one

:31:04. > :31:09.winner. We didn't get that. That would have been a huge impetuous to

:31:10. > :31:13.go above them. We missed the penalty it gave them the energy when they

:31:14. > :31:16.got the goal. Overall we hit the crossbar, missed a penalty,

:31:17. > :31:22.unfortunate not to take the three points.

:31:23. > :31:28.The BBC has a long-standing radio phone in for the people of South

:31:29. > :31:32.Yorkshire called praise or grumble, but all of their Championship teams

:31:33. > :31:37.in the bottom eight, maybe it should be renamed just crumble. Doncaster

:31:38. > :31:45.and Barnsley produced a feisty derby match. The visitors took the lead

:31:46. > :31:49.after hesitation by Sam Johnstone. And Martin Craney had an effort

:31:50. > :31:56.chalked off for a push. The experienced referee Andy D'Urso

:31:57. > :32:00.disappointed both teams, declining to give a penalty when Martin

:32:01. > :32:06.Woods, until a fortnight ago, I Rovers player, appeared to foul

:32:07. > :32:09.James husband. Some extensive discussions between public of and

:32:10. > :32:13.the fourth official. The equaliser came in first half stoppage time

:32:14. > :32:19.when Luke Steele had an aberration, allowing James Copping jetted pass

:32:20. > :32:23.into an unguarded net. He has been at Doncaster long enough to have

:32:24. > :32:27.laid at the old world view. Within ten minutes of the restart is called

:32:28. > :32:31.again, giving Barnsley that familiar sinking feeling. Danny Wilson is

:32:32. > :32:39.insisting on spirit in adversity and his charges displayed just that. The

:32:40. > :32:42.Tykes poured forward, with Jim O'Brien creating another opportunity

:32:43. > :32:47.for the German striker. Once again, Johnson was equal to it. In what was

:32:48. > :32:53.becoming a theme of close-run thing is, defender Peter Ramage was denied

:32:54. > :32:58.by the Doncaster crossbar. Ardsley have become used to luck stories,

:32:59. > :33:04.but assistant at -- persistence is a virtue and they got their reward.

:33:05. > :33:17.Even then, a rare away point was mismatched from their grasp, when

:33:18. > :33:20.Husband escaped. It was a tough game. We have no arguments with it.

:33:21. > :33:27.The referee did not see it. He had his back to play. I thought the ball

:33:28. > :33:30.was going elsewhere, and it happened in a split second, and by the time

:33:31. > :33:34.he turned round, the player was on the floor and it was a big shout for

:33:35. > :33:38.a penalty but you cannot give it if you do not see. It seemed like a

:33:39. > :33:43.blatant penalty and whether the referee saw it or not, obviously the

:33:44. > :33:44.fourth official has told him it was a penalty, whether he could hear the

:33:45. > :33:56.communication or not, I don't know. The other" the bottom of course,

:33:57. > :34:02.Millwall against Bolton. A game full of talking points. It is not a

:34:03. > :34:05.result either team would have liked. But some good quality and some good

:34:06. > :34:13.roles as well. This was a great header, a proper centre forward's

:34:14. > :34:18.run. Sean would have liked that. Across the keeper, and he did great

:34:19. > :34:31.with that one. They have got the penalty. I am sure that David is

:34:32. > :34:37.delighted, and then very soft, from big Jutkeiwicz. This is hardly

:34:38. > :34:44.free-flowing football, but sometimes you just get there. When you look at

:34:45. > :34:47.it, it is a fantastic finish, from this angle, to get it in from that

:34:48. > :34:55.angle takes a lot of skill, so that was an excellent goal. Ian Holloway

:34:56. > :35:00.said that Bolton were boring. He said you would be bored senseless

:35:01. > :35:04.watching that kind of performance from them. Was that really

:35:05. > :35:09.necessary? I do not think that is right. Millwall had a lot of the

:35:10. > :35:14.ball, but they were positive, they had a lot of shots on goal, but

:35:15. > :35:18.Bolton went there to get a result, and there are different ways to skin

:35:19. > :35:22.a cat, so if Bolton go there to perform a certain way, I am not sure

:35:23. > :35:25.that the opposition manager should the commenting on that, it is more

:35:26. > :35:31.important to focus on what your team are doing on the pitch. Let's get a

:35:32. > :35:35.fresh perspective on where things stand and -- 's stand in The

:35:36. > :35:38.Championship, starting at the bottom. Things are looking more

:35:39. > :35:42.difficult for Yeovil Town and Barnsley, but Charlton have got

:35:43. > :35:47.games in hand, and that the be crucial. It is tough for them down

:35:48. > :35:53.there at the moment. The bottom to have got it all to do. They have got

:35:54. > :35:58.games in hand but they would prefer points, at Charlton, if they are

:35:59. > :36:04.honest. The teams above them, who knows? To me, the big surprise our

:36:05. > :36:10.Bolton. I thought they were good in the first game of the season. Coming

:36:11. > :36:14.from a Burnley manager! I think they have got a good squad, good

:36:15. > :36:21.manager, good stuff, but they just can't quite get it going. Millwall,

:36:22. > :36:26.59 goals conceded. One win in 74 Ian Holloway, not quite the start he

:36:27. > :36:31.would have wanted, so they have to start turning some of those draws

:36:32. > :36:36.into victories. You were the only team from the top six to play today.

:36:37. > :36:40.We'll rest hold of the top spot? It is fair to say that they have gained

:36:41. > :36:44.experience over the last couple of years. The squad get-together from

:36:45. > :36:48.last year, and Nigel has got them going. They have put together an

:36:49. > :36:53.amazing group of games, to get that advantage. It is going to be very

:36:54. > :36:57.hard to call them back for anyone in the division. Who is going to be

:36:58. > :37:04.like Reading from two seasons ago, and putting on a late charge? When

:37:05. > :37:09.their players are performing, they can put a run, a string of

:37:10. > :37:17.performances together, so they are team that you would look at, Derby

:37:18. > :37:24.County, to maybe challenge. Brentford went into today's fishes

:37:25. > :37:29.two points ahead of rules. The opponents, Crewe found themselves

:37:30. > :37:41.flirting near the drop zone. It is not often that rings are run

:37:42. > :37:45.around Brentford, but a publicity hungry husky delayed kick-off at

:37:46. > :37:51.Brisbane Road. Not that it took long for Brentford to escape the lease.

:37:52. > :37:56.Alan Judge produced edge -- produced a goal that spoke of finesse as well

:37:57. > :37:57.as force. His arrival from Blackburn has strengthened an already

:37:58. > :38:09.impressive unit. The run has continued under Mark

:38:10. > :38:14.Warburton. Some possession football left Crewe mesmerise. Spectators to

:38:15. > :38:19.the spectacular, as Alan Judge let fly with a shot. The frustration of

:38:20. > :38:29.consecutive postponements was being taken out on Crewe. The visit is the

:38:30. > :38:34.bowl also make the month short list. The Crewe keeper Ben Gama, going

:38:35. > :38:37.through the motions with the dig. Some small consolation for Crewe

:38:38. > :38:41.when Clayton Donaldson stuck out a hand, whilst on defensive duty.

:38:42. > :38:48.Protestations of innocence were brushed aside, and the home

:38:49. > :38:51.supporters were given a reason to stay, with 20 minutes remaining on

:38:52. > :38:56.the clock. The greater likelihood during that spell was of another

:38:57. > :39:03.Brentford goal. George Savile, then Donaldson both gave Garrett some

:39:04. > :39:07.discomfort. The tumble filter register with the referee, but the

:39:08. > :39:14.Brentford boss saluted his performance. Three very good goals.

:39:15. > :39:20.Yes, the simple ones are mice to score, but we were very good in

:39:21. > :39:24.parts today. In general, some very good football being played. I think

:39:25. > :39:30.we deserved three points. Steve, they are good team. Yes, we knew

:39:31. > :39:33.that we would not be able to outplay them at home, we knew what to

:39:34. > :39:42.expect. They are up there for a reason, going 18 games without being

:39:43. > :39:46.beaten, for a reason. Next week's meeting between Brentford and walls

:39:47. > :39:50.will be. Spot. Wanderers stayed within swapping distance of the bees

:39:51. > :39:58.against Notts County. They went ahead early with Michael Jacobs

:39:59. > :40:03.converting. The magpies have stuck past -- three past Coventry last

:40:04. > :40:08.week but could not hike those -- could not hit those heights here.

:40:09. > :40:13.Callum McGregor could not quite take Notts County's best chance of the

:40:14. > :40:22.match. Missed chances were not restricted to the away side. Better

:40:23. > :40:27.to miss now rather than next week, perhaps. It did not matter here,

:40:28. > :40:31.with Wolves making sure of victory moments later, with Notts County

:40:32. > :40:37.standing off in defence, inviting Jacobs tissue, for his third goal in

:40:38. > :40:48.as many games. And rules with their fifth straight win. -- Wolves. I

:40:49. > :40:51.thought we played well in patches and defended well, and we need to do

:40:52. > :40:56.because Notts County threw everything at us in the end. I am

:40:57. > :41:01.disappointed with the level of performance. I am accustomed to a

:41:02. > :41:06.lot better than that. That is the overriding disappointment from my

:41:07. > :41:10.team today. After two weeks off because of bad weather, Rotherham

:41:11. > :41:20.were raring to go. And there was a free for all just before half-time.

:41:21. > :41:24.And Thomas scored despite protests for offside. His second goal in as

:41:25. > :41:30.many games. Rotherham were almost caught cold at later, but Francois

:41:31. > :41:36.Zoko making a brilliant stop. Stevenage had the better of the

:41:37. > :41:41.second half, and Francois Zoko made it to, unmarked from Jimmy Smith's

:41:42. > :41:44.corner. The bottom club thought they had done enough for a point, but

:41:45. > :41:49.reckoned without the Rotherham captain. The opening was not

:41:50. > :41:54.obvious, the relief certainly was. Steve Evans side have closed the gap

:41:55. > :42:01.on their rivals above, cementing fifth-place.

:42:02. > :42:06.It is not often that a match involving Peterborough or Walsall

:42:07. > :42:10.ends goalless, but testing conditions at London Road mitigated

:42:11. > :42:19.against entertaining football. The second-half drive from Danny Swanson

:42:20. > :42:24.proceeded this chance by Adam Chambers, with the Sheffield United

:42:25. > :42:29.loan player making light of the sticky surface, but failing to test

:42:30. > :42:33.the goalkeeper, as both teams found the heavy going the ground too much

:42:34. > :42:37.of a challenge. Credit to both teams for the football they try to play.

:42:38. > :42:43.Very bad conditions with the wind and rain. Both teams try to play a

:42:44. > :42:49.bit of football. Please do, with a clean sheet. Peterborough are free

:42:50. > :42:54.scoring here. It was an awful playing surface. We have now got

:42:55. > :42:57.three weeks without a game on it and we need to get something done to it,

:42:58. > :43:02.because it is going to cost us points. It is not the best pitch,

:43:03. > :43:09.but that is another point in the bag for the football league were other

:43:10. > :43:13.Ginger Mourinho, and Brentford, with three goals on Saturday, all of them

:43:14. > :43:26.pearlers. Alan Judge, fantastic ability. I was

:43:27. > :43:32.at Blackburn with him. You can see his quality. Might be harsh on the

:43:33. > :43:37.bulky, but that was a great strike. -- harsh on the goalkeeper.

:43:38. > :43:44.We spoke about there being a wind element to some of the goals, but

:43:45. > :43:49.from the point of view of Alan Judge, he's a player has got the

:43:50. > :43:52.ability to play at a higher level than where he is at the moment and

:43:53. > :43:57.if he continues to perform like that, he will be. Mark Warburton has

:43:58. > :44:04.walked in there, seamlessly. You know him well. Yes, he's a good guy,

:44:05. > :44:13.he was taking the under 16 is at Watford then became the academy

:44:14. > :44:16.manager. Whether it is as a football director, at Brentford, when the

:44:17. > :44:22.chance has come round, they have offered it to him and he has done a

:44:23. > :44:31.very good job, so far, for sure. We saw victory for Brentford, we saw

:44:32. > :44:42.winds also for Wolves, 2-0 against Notts County. Then five wins in a

:44:43. > :44:45.row, under Kenny Jackett. Considering, that the fence was

:44:46. > :44:51.leaking goals in the last couple of seasons. Yes, he has tightened up at

:44:52. > :45:01.the back. And look at the players, Jacobs, Hendry, players of real

:45:02. > :45:05.quality, but people know that about Wolves, but they have not been

:45:06. > :45:08.working as a team in previous seasons, which is why they are in

:45:09. > :45:12.this league, but looking at that defensive record, there is a real

:45:13. > :45:18.work ethic and spirit in that side at the moment. How hard is it to go

:45:19. > :45:22.into a club that has been surrounded by negativity for a couple of

:45:23. > :45:28.seasons and to try and turn that around? I know Kenny, he is a solid

:45:29. > :45:34.character, he knows what he wants from his players. He knows the

:45:35. > :45:40.market as well. Wolves will have to be careful. They have made some

:45:41. > :45:43.astute signings, not massive names, people who know the division and can

:45:44. > :45:48.get them out of it. That is his first task. I like Kenny a lot and I

:45:49. > :45:55.am pleased that he's doing a good job. As for the rest of League One,

:45:56. > :45:58.with just one point from their last six games, things were looking

:45:59. > :46:00.pretty dire for managerless Shrewsbury. Languishing four points

:46:01. > :46:02.from safety, the Shrews welcomed play-off chasing Port Vale to the

:46:03. > :46:05.Greenhouse Meadow. play-off chasing Port Vale to the

:46:06. > :46:10.The stats tell the story. 8 minutes were played before a shot on target.

:46:11. > :46:17.Woods with the first of only two in the entire match. Neither of them

:46:18. > :46:22.belonging to Vale. Williamson came closest to them. Shrewsbury got a

:46:23. > :46:26.first cleansheet in three months. We tried to get three points.

:46:27. > :46:30.Obviously, it's not worked out like that. Pleased with the cleansheet. I

:46:31. > :46:36.thought it was a better performance and grit about it. A bit of spirit

:46:37. > :46:39.about it. That was pleasing and a cleansheet, definitely. We could

:46:40. > :46:42.have done better with some of the crosses that went in the box, set

:46:43. > :46:50.plays, crosses in we should have been better with them. Pritchard had

:46:51. > :46:55.inspired Swindon to a brilliant come back at Port Vale last weekend.

:46:56. > :46:59.After his 30 yard drive was turned aside by Walker the match never

:47:00. > :47:07.caught fire. At least in terms of goals it didn't. Colchester's Watt

:47:08. > :47:11.over reacting to a challenge in the centre of the parkment the referee

:47:12. > :47:17.produced a red card for the former Arsenal youngster. No side in League

:47:18. > :47:22.One have scored more home goals than Swindon. Even against 10-men for the

:47:23. > :47:31.last 20 minutes they couldn't find a winner. Burn wasting the final

:47:32. > :47:35.chance in the dying moments. We dominated the game from start to

:47:36. > :47:40.firn. The conditions make the game a bit of a Lottery. We played good

:47:41. > :47:44.football in testing conditions. The only thing missing was a touch of

:47:45. > :47:52.quality in the final third. We deserved to win the game, no doubt.

:47:53. > :47:56.MK Dons need big win ifs they are to become play-off contenders. They

:47:57. > :48:03.didn't need for Oldham to take the lead before half-time. Lockwood got

:48:04. > :48:08.his first Latics goal. Whatever Robinson said to the home side at

:48:09. > :48:11.the break did the trick for Carruthers. He took matters into his

:48:12. > :48:21.own hands to equalise within minutes of the restart. One nearly became

:48:22. > :48:25.two soon after when Ben Reeves beat the goalkeeper, but not the frame of

:48:26. > :48:32.the goal. Oldham had been warned. The visitors found themselves

:48:33. > :48:37.reduced to 10 men when Kusunga was shown a second yellow card for

:48:38. > :48:43.tripping Gleeson. Worse was to follow. Oxley couldn't hold the shot

:48:44. > :48:47.from Carruthers. There was no denying Reeves for his tenth goal of

:48:48. > :48:57.the season to close the gap on the top six to seven points. Bristol

:48:58. > :49:00.City made the news in the week becoming the first English club to

:49:01. > :49:09.install a safe standing area. It's only for use at rugby at the moment.

:49:10. > :49:14.This spectacular opener from Baldock brought Aston gate to its feet. It

:49:15. > :49:23.Tranmere were back on level terms. Cassidy slammed in his first goal of

:49:24. > :49:27.the season. Rovers might have got the win if Lowe had converted from

:49:28. > :49:31.Cassidy's flick. In the event, neither side was able to climb away

:49:32. > :49:36.from the relegation zone. They couldn't even pull away from each

:49:37. > :49:41.other in this one. City thought they won it with 12 minutes to go when

:49:42. > :49:49.Williams netted his first ever senior goal. This time the advantage

:49:50. > :49:53.lasted only two minutes. Koumas, at the opposite end of his kaer radio,

:49:54. > :50:01.equalised for his first Tranmere goal in 12 years and first since

:50:02. > :50:05.rejoining Rovers last summer. It have been nice to go home with a

:50:06. > :50:08.win. I can't be disappointed in the magnificent performance they put in

:50:09. > :50:12.with their effort, determination. Not only that with fantastic

:50:13. > :50:16.football attempts. Looked shartered today. It took a lot out of them the

:50:17. > :50:20.other night, the emotions and everything. It's important on days

:50:21. > :50:26.like today that you don't get beat. The one thing we did do, we tried,

:50:27. > :50:35.we did try to win the game today. I'm not quite sure if that is what

:50:36. > :50:39.Bristol fans want to see. Revealing the players are tired. This is when

:50:40. > :50:43.things really start get interesting, you don't want to hear that, do you?

:50:44. > :50:48.No, with that amount of games, they are down there, trying to climb

:50:49. > :50:52.away. Maybe emotionally tired as well. It can be draining if you are

:50:53. > :50:56.top, middle or bottom. Particularly the bottom end there is more

:50:57. > :51:00.pressure and expectation. Especially the club the size of Bristol City,

:51:01. > :51:05.big resources and a big wage bill. He will want to get them up and

:51:06. > :51:11.running and get them out of there. They are climbing away. Not sure he

:51:12. > :51:18.will be -- should be offering that up to the public. Were pulled back

:51:19. > :51:23.twice in their game. League One is looking congested down there, isn't

:51:24. > :51:28.it? I suppose Stevenage, they have themselves, I reckon, they believe

:51:29. > :51:33.he will get out of. It Crawley's games in hands on their rivals? You

:51:34. > :51:37.would prefer to have the points than the games in hand. It's about how

:51:38. > :51:41.you start the games in hand. If you win the first two you think, we have

:51:42. > :51:44.more games in hand. If you lose, you think, we could be in trouble here.

:51:45. > :51:48.That is something you would look at from their perspective. Shrewsbury,

:51:49. > :51:52.with their recent run of form, they will be concerned. Crawley is the

:51:53. > :51:57.one that you really look at and you fear for them. Sheffield United are

:51:58. > :52:02.a big club. To be in that position is something that Nigel Clough will

:52:03. > :52:05.be desperate to turn things around? Major challenge for him. He has gone

:52:06. > :52:12.in there, they have got slightly better, but not took off as much as

:52:13. > :52:18.he hoped. Stle three games and Crewe. Tough one. They have good

:52:19. > :52:22.players. Trying to remote vat, reenergise it, Nigel is a good

:52:23. > :52:27.manager and got good staff, I'm sure he will get them back round and

:52:28. > :52:34.stronger going forward. They have to get it done now. Of the sides won on

:52:35. > :52:40.Saturday. As far as the top half are concerned. Leyton Orient, thankfully

:52:41. > :52:44.they have put an end to the consecutive defeats with that draw

:52:45. > :52:48.at Preston. Changing his goalkeeper, he had to use his squad, three

:52:49. > :52:53.goalkeepers in the last four. That doesn't help though, does it? No,

:52:54. > :52:57.absolutely not. I must say, they have done fantastically well -

:52:58. > :53:02.Similar to Burnley in some respects? Yeah. They haven't got the resources

:53:03. > :53:08.of everyone else. There is some quality there. They have goals,

:53:09. > :53:12.obviously. You would expect at some point they will have an awkward run.

:53:13. > :53:17.I think many have said, as you suggested, many have said that about

:53:18. > :53:23.us. To get to games 28, 29 before they had that run, it's a pretty

:53:24. > :53:29.good achievement. He will be hungry for more. He will make sure they

:53:30. > :53:31.push on. As for League Two, and having arrived at Southend in

:53:32. > :53:34.controversial circumstances days before the Johnstone's Paint Trophy

:53:35. > :53:38.Final, nine months on and Phil Brown's side are in the thick of the

:53:39. > :53:40.fight for the play-offs. Clem takes up the story with the visit of

:53:41. > :53:52.Exeter. The last time he was chasing pro it

:53:53. > :54:00.culminated in one of the most memorable moments in recent Football

:54:01. > :54:08.League history. That's a fantastic goal! It's the grand old man of

:54:09. > :54:13.football. Phil Brown's current job is not without its challenges. The

:54:14. > :54:20.issue of finally starting work on a new stadium has hung over Southend

:54:21. > :54:23.United for a decade-and-a-half. The financial consequences of relegation

:54:24. > :54:28.from the Championship in 2007 resulted in a transfer embargo that

:54:29. > :54:33.limited his squad to just 20 players for the early part of the season.

:54:34. > :54:36.During the current apocalyptic weather conditions where to train

:54:37. > :54:45.has been an issue, resulting this week in a four-day trip to Portugal.

:54:46. > :54:51.You have been topping up English football's most famous tan this

:54:52. > :54:58.week, have you? I don't know about that! We got to Portugal, thanks to

:54:59. > :55:02.the chairman, we were desperate for a bit of grass. Desperate to get on

:55:03. > :55:06.some training venue we could put work into the players. We haven't

:55:07. > :55:10.been on the training ground for maybe two or three weeks. When you

:55:11. > :55:16.tasted the high life, as you did a few years ago, how deep have you had

:55:17. > :55:20.to dig to retrench and go again and work at this level? I'm enjoying

:55:21. > :55:23.life from a personal perspective, grafting, getting back on the

:55:24. > :55:26.training ground every day and getting my hands dirty, as people

:55:27. > :55:34.call. It working with good people. And, getting a response from the

:55:35. > :55:38.players. The biggest word is "infectious" full of confidence.

:55:39. > :55:42.When he is around you it's hard not to rub off that confidence. I think

:55:43. > :55:47.it shows. The team spirit is amazing. The togetherness that we've

:55:48. > :55:52.got is absolutely a different class. He said to me he has calmed down

:55:53. > :55:55.over the last few years. I wouldn't have liked to have been involved

:55:56. > :55:59.with ham few years ago when he was at Hull. Hopefully we are at the

:56:00. > :56:04.forefront of a good finish to the season. If that takes us to the new

:56:05. > :56:08.stadium and a higher division. Thee are all the things we set out at the

:56:09. > :56:12.start of the season. If we achieve that and move forward and move on,

:56:13. > :56:19.who knows how far this thing can go. Do you know when the first salt will

:56:20. > :56:26.be cut? We are in the last phrase with the contractors we should be on

:56:27. > :56:33.site in spring. It it will be this year. What Brighton achieved is what

:56:34. > :56:38.we can do here. Post arrives going on within the bigger picture. That,

:56:39. > :56:43.for me, is the good feel. Now it means for nothing unless players

:56:44. > :56:48.walk across the white line for 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon and

:56:49. > :56:54.perform to the best of their ability. That's the challenge today.

:56:55. > :57:07.Results have dropped off, goalkeeper Bentley didn't follow instructions.

:57:08. > :57:18.Kehane got his first goal of the season. Two minutes later Southend

:57:19. > :57:25.were level through Phillips. This clever pass almost presented Keohane

:57:26. > :57:30.with his second of the game. Phillips was in the thick of the

:57:31. > :57:34.action for a second header. So far, so good for the home side. 2-1 it

:57:35. > :57:39.stayed until the final eight minutes. Sercombe unleashed the shot

:57:40. > :57:44.of the day to stun the home side. Worthy of the winner surely? That

:57:45. > :57:49.was just around the corner. Keep an eye on Elliott Richards, who is on

:57:50. > :57:53.the ball now. He choose his moment, three minutes from time, he scored

:57:54. > :57:57.his first goal since joining on-loan from Bristol Rovers the week before

:57:58. > :57:58.last. Brown's men are winless in five games and seven points off the

:57:59. > :58:10.top three. Not a feeling ing you have

:58:11. > :58:14.experienced here for quite some time? No, it isn't. Licking your

:58:15. > :58:18.wounds is not my style. Have you to put it behind and address the next

:58:19. > :58:22.one coming along. This is a lesson at this stage of the season. If you

:58:23. > :58:25.take your foot off the gas. If you think it will be easy. If you don't

:58:26. > :58:28.think there will be pressure at the end of the year, you have something

:58:29. > :58:31.to think about. Today was a reminder that you are the business end of the

:58:32. > :58:36.division. You are coming to the business end of the season. We need

:58:37. > :58:39.businessmen. From yous sfrating Phil Brown there. A couple of cracking

:58:40. > :58:45.goals there, Jason? Outstanding goals. What will be frustrating from

:58:46. > :58:49.Phil Brown's point of view the goals came in the last eight minutes.

:58:50. > :58:54.Fantastic goal from Sercombe. This is what I like. The feet from

:58:55. > :58:59.Richards. You can't think you will get a is shot, he gets the goal.

:59:00. > :59:05.Great ability. To get those goals at such a late point of the game makes

:59:06. > :59:10.it even sweeter. Of course it's a fine way for Exeter to get their

:59:11. > :59:14.first win. Two managers who you know pretty well. I suppose they're

:59:15. > :59:20.trying to make their name from very different angles, aren't they? Yeah.

:59:21. > :59:25.I mean he has done well for a number of years of Exeter. He went off a

:59:26. > :59:31.did a bit of Bath when they coming up through the division. Got in the

:59:32. > :59:36.FA Cup, went to Exeter, did a good job over many seasons. Phil, the

:59:37. > :59:41.opposite way round. Been at the top, under Sam Allardyce, went on his

:59:42. > :59:47.own. You have to give him credit. He could have bided his time until a

:59:48. > :59:51.job came up in the Champion snip Football is in you. You get the

:59:52. > :59:55.chance, especially management, I'm young and learning, it's in you. You

:59:56. > :59:59.can feel it. He's definitely got that in him. He has shown it

:00:00. > :00:03.already. The chance was available he thought - forget about the levels. I

:00:04. > :00:09.want to do it. I want to be outside there, get his hands dirty, coaching

:00:10. > :00:12.on the grass. Great challenge. Different challenge, resources,

:00:13. > :00:17.training pitches, like he said, he is full of enthusiasm, that is for

:00:18. > :00:21.sure. You agree? We spoke about 20 players to choose from. Not having

:00:22. > :00:24.the opportunity to train correctly and get your ideas into the players.

:00:25. > :00:26.To do so well cementing that place in the play-offs. He has done a very

:00:27. > :00:35.good job there. Elsewhere in League Two, Sean's

:00:36. > :00:38.former club, Chesterfield, retained top spot thanks to a hard fought

:00:39. > :00:41.draw at second placed Scunthorpe last week. Today, the Spireites were

:00:42. > :00:48.at home to relegation-threatened Torquay.

:00:49. > :00:55.What any promotion chasing side wants most against lowly opponents

:00:56. > :00:58.as an early goal to set the tone. Jay O'Shea must oblige the

:00:59. > :01:01.Chesterfield but the leaders found themselves facing an uphill struggle

:01:02. > :01:08.Baxter and exceptional first senior goal that Sammy Goodman will never

:01:09. > :01:17.forget. His good work was undone and farcical circumstances, with the kit

:01:18. > :01:21.from Michael Poke drop kicking, and giving him for one for the games. It

:01:22. > :01:25.did not affect Goodwin's confidence. The peonage on loan from Brighton

:01:26. > :01:32.unlucky for Conor Wilkinson wasted the rebound. Chris Hargreaves men

:01:33. > :01:35.with roulette missed opportunity with Chesterfield more rigorous in

:01:36. > :01:42.the last ten minutes. Jay O'Shea, in particular. They have rediscovered

:01:43. > :01:45.the golden touch at just the right time, and their opponents remain in

:01:46. > :01:49.the relegation zone, available be heartened by the performance and Jay

:01:50. > :01:54.O'Shea was able to make the performance more convincing in

:01:55. > :01:59.stoppage time, which was tough on Torquay United after a battling

:02:00. > :02:04.display. It was a poor game, but we came away from home -- from home

:02:05. > :02:10.with a game plan, took a game plan, to castrate us and stifle us, but

:02:11. > :02:13.then they get a breakaway. It took us through a couple of

:02:14. > :02:19.substitutions, and a bit of a fortunate equaliser. I thought we

:02:20. > :02:24.played well, we can paint them, we had a game plan that work, we had a

:02:25. > :02:31.fantastic goal from a young lad who could have had two, and then you

:02:32. > :02:34.made a bad mistake. After just one defeat in their previous eight

:02:35. > :02:39.games, it was hardly surprising that Accrington started on the front foot

:02:40. > :02:43.against high-flying Scunthorpe, and the first goal in ten months for Lee

:02:44. > :02:46.Molineux put them in front. Seven minutes before the break they took

:02:47. > :02:51.advantage of some slack Scunthorpe defending to double the lead. Peter

:02:52. > :02:56.Murphy with his fourth in five appearances. Accrington Stanley have

:02:57. > :03:00.won only three games on their own park all season, and when Sam

:03:01. > :03:03.Broomhall drove the ball home for his sixth in the goal of the

:03:04. > :03:07.campaign, you send some unease among the home fans. It quickly became

:03:08. > :03:15.apparent that Scunthorpe were taking control. But with the game in

:03:16. > :03:27.stoppage time, Edward like a point each, until David Murton swooped, to

:03:28. > :03:33.keep Scunthorpe's automatic promotion challenge Bang on course.

:03:34. > :03:40.The lads are devastated and I devastated for them. They put

:03:41. > :03:47.tremendous effort into getting a result and they have come away with

:03:48. > :03:58.nothing. Mansfield could do with a spell at finishing school. The

:03:59. > :04:02.dynamic first 20 minutes, and all that was lacking was a goal-scoring

:04:03. > :04:09.touch. Perhaps they could learn from a master of the art, David Connolly,

:04:10. > :04:13.27 minutes in, the veteran produced the type of goal that he has been

:04:14. > :04:19.tucking away for two decades. Another recent Oxford signing put

:04:20. > :04:23.game beyond Mansfield, Mickey Rose with his second goal and a yellow

:04:24. > :04:28.shirt, sending United on their way to a second home win. The Oxford

:04:29. > :04:36.masterclass ended with a crafted team goal, after the run from James

:04:37. > :04:42.Constable, Smalley completed the goal-scoring lesson. It was a great

:04:43. > :04:48.result against a team that put you under a lot of pressure. I thought

:04:49. > :04:54.we were fortunate to go goal up. But it is a great result at the end of

:04:55. > :05:01.the day. It looks from the scoreline as if we took a battering. I think

:05:02. > :05:04.we have had 14 attempts on target. The game should have been out of

:05:05. > :05:13.sight within the first 20, 25 minutes, I thought. It took three

:05:14. > :05:15.pitch inspections to pass Scotland's fit for action and the ground staff

:05:16. > :05:23.might have wondered if it was worth the effort when more common in

:05:24. > :05:27.front. Scott Probyn outmuscled a green parish and made the rest look

:05:28. > :05:37.simple. The finish of a man in top form. It stayed all square until 70

:05:38. > :05:42.minutes from the end when the goal went in that keeps the pressure on

:05:43. > :05:55.the top three, Ian Henderson with the winner.

:05:56. > :06:02.If it was not for Jack, 's super clearance, he would have put his

:06:03. > :06:06.side in front. And it was the Daggers who struck first. The on

:06:07. > :06:15.loan ridding youngster with a superb 30 yard shot, stunning the home fans

:06:16. > :06:19.just before the break. Dagenham, after their 2-0 victory in November

:06:20. > :06:31.had a chance to complete the double over Burton. A second yellow for a

:06:32. > :06:33.trip made life much more difficult. And the equaliser went in with 20

:06:34. > :06:41.minutes still to play. Burton were calling the shots but after the ball

:06:42. > :06:47.was scrabbled relate on, the ten men held on for a point.

:06:48. > :06:53.Encouragement from Tuesday's victory at Torquay turn to familiar

:06:54. > :06:59.disappointment for the bottom club, with Gareth Evans moving away and

:07:00. > :07:02.Fleetwood never looked back. The home side should have confirmed

:07:03. > :07:08.their superiority comfortably in the first half. With Jamil Matthews

:07:09. > :07:13.making his first-team return from injury, he should look away now. Not

:07:14. > :07:17.that the stayed in touch until the final quarter when another flowing

:07:18. > :07:23.attack led to another Parkin cross from which Evans could not help but

:07:24. > :07:24.score the second of the game, and Fleetwood climbed to fifth place

:07:25. > :07:34.after their first win in five games. Bard weathermen Newport County were

:07:35. > :07:38.forced to postpone the last two fixtures, so there were raring to go

:07:39. > :07:41.after a fortnight of, but a bright start at Hartlepool went unrewarded,

:07:42. > :07:46.but a smart start at Hartlepool went unrewarded, but the smartphone from

:07:47. > :07:49.the James so I'm on target, taking them above their opponents in the

:07:50. > :07:56.chase for a play-off place. Some comedy defending sealed Newport's

:07:57. > :08:01.fate. The defender diverting the ball past his own keeper. The

:08:02. > :08:11.victory rounded off emphatically by Luke Williams, and Newport now have

:08:12. > :08:16.not won a game since Boxing Day. Plymouth have been unbeaten in five

:08:17. > :08:21.home games, but they played the bulk of this game with only ten men after

:08:22. > :08:27.the referee dismissed Neal Trotman for his challenge on Ryan Bowman.

:08:28. > :08:31.The red card inevitable. And Wes Fletcher's deadly goal of the

:08:32. > :08:38.campaign arrived from the spot after 11 minutes. York had failed to score

:08:39. > :08:42.in four of their previous five league games but in first-half

:08:43. > :08:47.stoppage time, John McCombe made it 2-0 with his first goal for the club

:08:48. > :08:53.and two more followed at the end of the game. Splendid set up play by

:08:54. > :08:56.Michael Coulson allowed John McCombe to tuck away his second, and the

:08:57. > :09:01.goal of the game followed from Josh Carson. The 20-year-old Northern

:09:02. > :09:04.Ireland international running from inside the centre circle before

:09:05. > :09:17.lifting the ball beautifully into the corner to secure the biggest win

:09:18. > :09:21.of the season for York. Neil R rated the dons could snatch this, as long

:09:22. > :09:28.as they did not offend too deep crosses. Guess what happened next?

:09:29. > :09:34.Ryan Taylor with this goal. Frustrating stuff for Wimbledon who

:09:35. > :09:37.felt worthy of a point, at least. The save from Alan Bennett ensured

:09:38. > :09:45.that they did not get one, and the first win at home for Pompey since

:09:46. > :09:49.Christmas. That gives Portsmouth a bit of breathing space as far as

:09:50. > :09:52.relegation is concerned. Chesterfield, the surroundings have

:09:53. > :10:00.changed a bit since you were playing there. Yes, a good new stadium and

:10:01. > :10:05.they are doing very well. To come back from 1-0 down, it is a big

:10:06. > :10:09.result, because it is getting tight at the top end of the league, but

:10:10. > :10:14.they have been up there all season. They have a place in my history, so

:10:15. > :10:22.I wish them well. The manager is doing a decent job. Yes, they have

:10:23. > :10:27.been decent this season. And the new stadium is quite different to when I

:10:28. > :10:34.was there. Outstanding away performance from York against ten

:10:35. > :10:38.men of Plymouth. Yes, I have been impressed with their style of

:10:39. > :10:43.football, and it does not get much better than a 4-0 victory. It is

:10:44. > :10:46.great that he has taken up the challenge to go there. He's

:10:47. > :10:51.implementing his style and they are playing attractive football. 2014

:10:52. > :10:57.has been a good year for them so far. Yes, you know that you are

:10:58. > :11:01.performing well when you get five wins, and that has shot them up the

:11:02. > :11:03.league. It might be too much to look into the play-offs, but it has

:11:04. > :11:14.staved off any threat of relegation. How do you see this panning out? A

:11:15. > :11:22.bit of a gap from Southend to Burton. Is the race on for the last

:11:23. > :11:25.play-off place? It is the nature of all these divisions, 3-point makes

:11:26. > :11:35.all the difference, you can have a good week and things change. It is a

:11:36. > :11:37.big ask. But you are looking at that side of it, Southend upwards, they

:11:38. > :11:42.are going to be challenging. They have put down a marker, so they will

:11:43. > :11:49.be disappointed if anyone comes out of that. At the bottom, a side that

:11:50. > :11:55.you asked quite close to, Northampton. Yes, my little boy,

:11:56. > :12:03.Max, plays there. I played there, myself. I know the chairman, the

:12:04. > :12:09.club, he has put a lot of money in over the years, and I wish Chris

:12:10. > :12:13.well. I am still resident in Northampton so I want the club to be

:12:14. > :12:19.in the division, that is for sure. And Torquay, were duped made your

:12:20. > :12:26.league debut. Yes, that is a club that is close to my heart. A run of

:12:27. > :12:32.games would give them the chance to shoot up that league. Before we go,

:12:33. > :12:38.don't forget, Winter Olympics coverage continues at Sunday at my

:12:39. > :12:40.name on BBC Two. We will be back next Saturday after Match of the

:12:41. > :12:46.Day, to reflect on another easy day in the foot all-league, from five

:12:47. > :12:51.the midnight. Good to see you, Jason, and thank you, too, for your

:12:52. > :12:53.company. From all of us, good night.
