:00:38. > :00:42.Good evening. We have reached round four of the Capital One Cup, and

:00:43. > :00:47.those left in it are just three games away from a Wembley final. 13

:00:48. > :00:51.of the remaining 16 from the Premier League, with the odds on a

:00:52. > :00:56.top-flight final shortening by the month. After the last season, it is

:00:57. > :01:00.not a foregone conclusion. With me tonight is Steve Claridge, as we

:01:01. > :01:08.reflect on another 48 hours of frantic cup football, this is what

:01:09. > :01:14.is in store. With travel sickness hampering Manchester City's efforts

:01:15. > :01:17.recently, Manuel Pellegrini's men went to face a Newcastle side

:01:18. > :01:23.smarting from the derby defeat at the hands of Sunderland on Sunday.

:01:24. > :01:27.We have got the best from an absorbing cup tie. Three clubs from

:01:28. > :01:34.the Championship in action in this round, Birmingham, Burnley making it

:01:35. > :01:44.possible to get through to the last eight. In a repeat of the last

:01:45. > :01:48.final, Chelsea went head-to-head with Arsenal, we will find out if

:01:49. > :01:54.the tie of the round lived up to its billing. The quarterfinal draw is on

:01:55. > :01:58.the way later as well. We start at White Hart Lane for a dramatic cup

:01:59. > :02:01.tie as Tottenham entertain hole, the build-up focused on how the Spurs

:02:02. > :02:10.crowd would react to the manager's Ecus Asian -- accusation of them

:02:11. > :02:17.being overly negative. Steve Bruce's men with the visitors.

:02:18. > :02:44.The header did stop at reaching Jermain Defoe, so conceding a corner

:02:45. > :02:45.is probably the lesser of two evils. The noise level rising amongst the

:02:46. > :02:51.Spurs fans. He rose well enough. The header was

:02:52. > :03:12.wide of the post. Super play from Sigurdsson, what a

:03:13. > :03:36.goal! In a season that has already thrown

:03:37. > :03:40.up efforts from Jack Wilshire, that we will talk about for years, that

:03:41. > :04:00.is another of them that deserves a mention.

:04:01. > :04:05.They are playing with a bit more confidence, Sigurdsson guides is

:04:06. > :04:23.clear. A good save! What a fine tackle by

:04:24. > :04:25.Eunice Campbell, even a handshake from the man he denied. -- Eunice

:04:26. > :04:48.Campbell. That was a wild one by Kyle Walker.

:04:49. > :04:52.It has brought Steve Bruce out of his seat right onto the touchline.

:04:53. > :04:58.It was really rash from the England right back. He is fortunate that he

:04:59. > :05:03.did not make more contact and his opponent does not make more of a

:05:04. > :05:08.force. Steve Bruce cannot believe that a card has not been produced,

:05:09. > :05:14.because that fulfilled some of the criteria for possibly a read.

:05:15. > :05:23.Jon Moss is the match referee with the whistle, here we go for the

:05:24. > :05:26.second half. Holed are bidding to reach the quarterfinals of the

:05:27. > :05:37.Capital One Cup for the first time in their history. -- Hull.

:05:38. > :05:43.Within 20 seconds of starting his night's work, causing Friedel to

:05:44. > :05:50.dive to his left to cover that post, a live wire, Aaron McLean. A

:05:51. > :06:22.good goal-scoring record at Peterborough, his third appearance

:06:23. > :06:32.Another deep this season.

:06:33. > :06:32.Curtis Davies, and it goes in off Brad Friedel! Davies looks to the

:06:33. > :06:49.skies, but Brad Friedel! Davies looks to the

:06:50. > :07:12.has to go down as an own goal against who are rolled Brad Friedel.

:07:13. > :07:16.really travelling from Harry Kane. He was nowhere near it. It hit the

:07:17. > :07:50.outside of the post and careered away from goal.

:07:51. > :08:08.Sigurdsson has done it once, he nearly did it again.

:08:09. > :08:19.And Hull just keep on coming at Spurs. George Boyd, goods delivery,

:08:20. > :08:31.great goal, it is Paul McShane! In the 99th minute! Brad Friedel got a

:08:32. > :08:35.big piece of it, but it was travelling at such fierce pace that

:08:36. > :08:42.he had precious little chance of keeping it out of his net. Paul

:08:43. > :08:46.McShane, the one Hull player who remains from Hull City's only

:08:47. > :08:51.previous win at White Hart Lane, has scored the goal by which they lead.

:08:52. > :09:01.He is receiving attention from the senior physio. A real chance to make

:09:02. > :09:13.it 3-1. Will Hull live to regret that Ms?

:09:14. > :09:23.Harry Kane finds the corner! It is only his second Spurs goal.

:09:24. > :09:35.Hull were in front for just eight minutes.

:09:36. > :09:45.And how now Hull must regret that they missed the target seconds

:09:46. > :09:49.earlier? Instead of 3-1, it is 2-2, and the momentum is back with the

:09:50. > :09:55.home team. It is going to be the man who is a spectacular first-half goal

:09:56. > :09:57.will leave an indelible imprint on many Spurs supporters' minds, Gylfi

:09:58. > :10:07.Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson of Iceland. The keeper

:10:08. > :10:14.went the right way, but Sigurdsson's placement was perfect.

:10:15. > :10:25.The spectators behind the goal doing their utmost to put him off.

:10:26. > :10:36.The oldest player to represent only had to topple to his right. It

:10:37. > :10:50.was poorly struck. Just about the same destination

:10:51. > :10:53.point in the net as Sigurdsson before him. More booing for Stephen

:10:54. > :11:02.Quinn. Really off-putting. That is a good

:11:03. > :11:16.penalty in response. They are pinning their faith in the

:11:17. > :11:19.club's third choice goalkeeper, McGregor injured, Harper rested,

:11:20. > :11:22.Jacopo Bridge called up for this game. He is now facing Jan

:11:23. > :11:35.Vertonghen. It hit the inside of the post but it

:11:36. > :11:41.counts and on the less, three out of three for Tottenham. George Boyd.

:11:42. > :11:50.A silky player who has just had one player at Premier League level, and

:11:51. > :11:56.he scores very comfortable it, but Tottenham still have the advantage,

:11:57. > :12:04.3-2. Tottenham's record signing is up next. Five caps for Argentina,

:12:05. > :12:12.bought from Lazio at huge expense. And he lets Spurs down! And that

:12:13. > :12:18.will do nothing for a struggling player's confidence.

:12:19. > :12:24.The Egyptian making only his second appearance in English football.

:12:25. > :12:34.He steps up and scores, and the shoot out is level at 3-3 now.

:12:35. > :12:43.Born in Chingford, Harry Kane. It is a rocket of a penalty. And that

:12:44. > :12:50.means that Hull have to score this to stay in the hunt.

:12:51. > :12:59.He is a German, and we know what that usually means. It was

:13:00. > :13:06.inevitable, wasn't it? 4-4, and on we go into sudden death.

:13:07. > :13:12.Paulinho, one of the three players with which Spurs broke their chance

:13:13. > :13:13.for record over the summer. With a shovel, but it was all about

:13:14. > :13:22.placement. And it is David Myler. Some of the

:13:23. > :13:27.younger Hull bans cannot watch. He has put in a Herculean effort, he

:13:28. > :13:36.does not deserve to fail, nor does he. Friedel went the right way.

:13:37. > :13:55.Six out of 74 Spurs. Probably sooner, one of these guys is going

:13:56. > :13:58.to be the fall guy. Rossini also scores, and again Friedel went in

:13:59. > :14:14.the right direction. -- Leroy Rossini.

:14:15. > :14:21.Paul McShane, whose goal looked like it might have on it for Hull. It hit

:14:22. > :14:27.the underside of the bar, look at the relief!

:14:28. > :14:40.Kyle Walker, kicker number nine for Tottenham Hotspur. Excellent!

:14:41. > :14:50.17 kicks so far, only two failures. He was so unlucky on Sunday year, to

:14:51. > :14:57.concede a really harsh penalty. Oh, and he is unlucky again! For the

:14:58. > :15:01.second time in three days, Ahmed Mohamed Diame wishes that the White

:15:02. > :15:08.Hart Lane pitch would open up and swallow him. Another and convincing

:15:09. > :15:19.display by Spurs, but through they go to the last eight of the League

:15:20. > :15:22.Cup. Steve, what a way to lose. We have not had any luck over the last

:15:23. > :15:27.two or three days when we have been down here. But it turned out to be a

:15:28. > :15:33.fantastic cup tie. A bit like what they used to be. Both teams going at

:15:34. > :15:38.it. I can only say how proud I am to watch them. It is not easy after

:15:39. > :15:43.playing here on Sunday and having to cope with the defeat and the manner

:15:44. > :15:47.of it, and then to put in another performance like they did, they did

:15:48. > :15:54.not deserve to go out, but sometimes you need a bit of luck and we didn't

:15:55. > :15:59.have it. We changed the formation to 4-4-2, and they really had a go at

:16:00. > :16:02.us. Chances for both sides. It was a game that was well played and a

:16:03. > :16:09.fantastic rhythm, and the crowd made the difference. It was a game in

:16:10. > :16:13.many ways that goes against what has been the solidity of Spurs this

:16:14. > :16:18.season, propylene she's out of 16, and they go with goals galore

:16:19. > :16:27.tonight. # 12 clean sheets out of 16.

:16:28. > :16:33.Hull City change their system slightly underwear very positive and

:16:34. > :16:36.showed what they could do. It was a containment exercise and stick to

:16:37. > :16:42.the game plan of the previous game, but this, was a good game of

:16:43. > :16:48.football. Ahmed Elmohamady played a role in both games. Both players who

:16:49. > :16:54.had a mental games, him and Brad Friedel. Try and explain what went

:16:55. > :16:57.on with the own goal. He does not expect the ball, when it goes past

:16:58. > :17:02.him to come back at him. He is trying to recover from that. He puts

:17:03. > :17:07.his hands on the floor, and the ball comes back at him and by the time he

:17:08. > :17:12.tries to react, it has hit his hands and run into the back of the net.

:17:13. > :17:16.People say, he should have been expecting that, but when the player

:17:17. > :17:19.misses from two yards and hits it back across goal, it is hard to

:17:20. > :17:28.think, that is Ashley going to come back at you. -- actually going to.

:17:29. > :17:34.Hugo Lloris is a regular number one for Spurs, but Kyle Walker, and

:17:35. > :17:39.hindsight, also, was a lucky to stay on the pitch? When you look at the

:17:40. > :17:44.shape he makes, he is very lucky, when he goes into the challenge. It

:17:45. > :17:50.is reckless. He does not entirely go through with the challenge. Stephen

:17:51. > :17:57.Quinn does well to get out of the way, he knows what is coming. But we

:17:58. > :18:07.have seen players sent off for that. Some great penalties from both

:18:08. > :18:11.sides. You feel for that goalkeeper. As, having made what seemed like a

:18:12. > :18:17.mistake early on in the game, he gets the chance to rectify it. And

:18:18. > :18:20.now Andre Villas-Boas talks about the energy of the White halfling

:18:21. > :18:30.crown. They seemed a lot more positive the night. -- the White

:18:31. > :18:37.Hart Lane crowd. That was a game that, we have been to games where we

:18:38. > :18:40.have been commentators, you can get a game with some tempo and some

:18:41. > :18:48.chances and energy, but that was a very tactical affair on Sunday, but

:18:49. > :18:52.this was more open and the only goal set the pattern for the night. It

:18:53. > :18:58.was a totally different game with a totally different atmosphere.

:18:59. > :19:02.Tottenham, four time winners in the hat for the quarterfinals. At St

:19:03. > :19:08.James's Park, Newcastle and Manchester City had the chance to

:19:09. > :19:13.bounce back from painful legalese inflicted by fierce rivals. Alan

:19:14. > :19:15.Pardew's men came unstuck to Sunderland at the weekend. Guy

:19:16. > :19:26.Mowbray as a commentator. The three sat there we can have

:19:27. > :19:32.settled to ramp up this cup tie with a bit more. They all want to see a

:19:33. > :19:35.response. The Newcastle team shows five changes from the one beaten at

:19:36. > :19:43.Sunderland on Sunday with Yanga Mbiwa coming in, but Manchester

:19:44. > :19:49.City, it is almost all change from the last defeat at Chelsea, with

:19:50. > :20:04.only Garcia staying in the side, and Costel Pantilimon and goal. -- in

:20:05. > :20:20.goal. That is a good leap from Ameobi. And it is but why buy

:20:21. > :20:25.PowerPC. -- Papisse Cisse. Had that been inside the post, there was no

:20:26. > :20:43.way that Costel Pantilimon was getting anywhere near.

:20:44. > :21:02.Cissoko with another chance. Costel Pantilimon shovels it behind to deny

:21:03. > :21:07.Ameobi. Newcastle seem to be forcing chance after chance. It was not

:21:08. > :21:10.struck really by Ameobi but maybe the bouncing ball made it harder for

:21:11. > :21:14.the goalkeeper than it could have been.

:21:15. > :21:31.Anita, given a chance to start tonight and the chance to stake a

:21:32. > :21:44.claim for a regular place in the Newcastle side. Anita can strike. He

:21:45. > :21:45.has got that on target at least. It was a routine save for Costel

:21:46. > :22:20.Pantilimon. Krul had to leave his area. James

:22:21. > :22:28.Milner, he hit it too hard, if anything. Alvaro Negredo wanted it

:22:29. > :22:34.popped onto his head in the six yard box. James Milner saw the goal

:22:35. > :22:39.gaping and decided that, whatever the angle, it was his for the

:22:40. > :22:43.taking. It was between the posts but it was over the bar. And what was

:22:44. > :23:00.Tim Krul doing? Negredo. He has to carry it along

:23:01. > :23:07.way but it is clipped into the side netting. It looked as though it was

:23:08. > :23:26.going to be 1-0, City. And there it is. The glove of Krul enough.

:23:27. > :23:55.Milner. Negredo's interested. And Silva denied by Debuchy.

:23:56. > :24:11.We might yet have a lively ending to a pretty dour affair. All the way to

:24:12. > :24:24.Gouffran. Newcastle are not done with this attack, yet. Corner kick.

:24:25. > :24:35.And Saint James 's Park response. -- responds. We are at the stage now

:24:36. > :24:47.where one goal wins it. Ban Arfa to Cabaye. Good ball, it had to go in,

:24:48. > :24:53.but the flag was up, anyway. The header from Gouffran. He was offside

:24:54. > :25:01.and he stayed offside, so it would not have counted.

:25:02. > :25:16.There was a slip, and a decent recovery from Debuchy.

:25:17. > :25:32.Boyata withstands the challenge. Great save from the big Romanian.

:25:33. > :25:35.Inside the first minute and a half of extra time we have a better

:25:36. > :25:52.chance than we witnessed in 90 minutes. Cisse Could not take it.

:25:53. > :26:20.Tiote can't dive in. Alvaro Negredo taps it in. Manchester City take the

:26:21. > :26:26.lead. Strong running by Eddie Jacko -- Edin Dzeko. And Alvaro Negredo

:26:27. > :26:32.gets in front of Yanga Mbiwa to top the ball home.

:26:33. > :26:43.Dzeko goes around Krul. He scores the second, and Manchester City are

:26:44. > :26:53.on their way to the quarterfinals. The passing is crisp, the movement

:26:54. > :26:57.good, the Finnish, sublime. Dzeko gets the second. Newcastle Male,

:26:58. > :27:07.Manchester City, too. This is the fourth successive away

:27:08. > :27:17.game in all competitions for Manchester City. James Milner, just

:27:18. > :27:44.wide, and it was deflected. Cabaye - could not turn and face the

:27:45. > :27:54.goal to shoot. He has managed to find Debuchy. It is cleared off the

:27:55. > :27:59.line by Joleon Lescott. That was good from Joleon Lescott because

:28:00. > :28:05.Costel Pantilimon was beaten, and it would have given Newcastle hope.

:28:06. > :28:15.The first half was very similar for both teams, but I think finally, we

:28:16. > :28:21.deserved to continue in this Capital one Cup. I thought that my team

:28:22. > :28:26.could not give any more than they did. When you get two extra time,

:28:27. > :28:32.that first goal is very important. We have a great chance and

:28:33. > :28:36.unfortunately, it got away from us, and we have not got the rub of the

:28:37. > :28:43.green today, but we have put in one hell of an effort. Considering that

:28:44. > :28:47.Manchester City did not get their first shot on target until the 70th

:28:48. > :28:56.minute, it was not a bad night for Newcastle. Yes, they had three

:28:57. > :28:59.gilt-edged chances. Those are the same players we saw last year

:29:00. > :29:07.scoring those wonderful goals. It yet been on target than they would

:29:08. > :29:09.have been gone in this game. No coincidence that Manuel Pellegrini

:29:10. > :29:15.had to bring on the likes of David Silva to inject some life into the

:29:16. > :29:21.contest, and ten minutes later, this happen. It made the difference. It

:29:22. > :29:26.just meant an extra man in midfield and where they did not have control

:29:27. > :29:29.before, they then had it. Probably 20 minutes they dominated in extra

:29:30. > :29:35.time, and they made it count, whereas Newcastle did not. The

:29:36. > :29:43.combined for two very well work roles. Is the disappointment of the

:29:44. > :29:55.cup tie heightened by recent defeats? This troubled times to

:29:56. > :29:57.contain Ameobi. Then they started to tighten up but there will still be

:29:58. > :30:09.element is where they feel they could improve. Dzeko got the assist

:30:10. > :30:15.and goal. That is a nice touch from James Milner. How many times you see

:30:16. > :30:18.players over the ball in that situation, but he keeps in contact

:30:19. > :30:24.with the ball, and he knows exactly where the goal is and it is a good

:30:25. > :30:28.finish. Lots of chat about Joe Hart, and Costel Pantilimon started

:30:29. > :30:31.in goal. He was named man of the match after the game. Has he given

:30:32. > :30:36.Manuel Pellegrini something to think about going into the weekend? I

:30:37. > :30:44.think so. He made one or two good saves. They, he did nothing wrong.

:30:45. > :30:47.They had struggled at the back. There had been a lack of

:30:48. > :30:50.communication between the goalkeeper and the defence, but they were fine

:30:51. > :30:54.today, and his manager will be happy with that.

:30:55. > :31:01.Arsenal were in action last night, scoring for fun this season,

:31:02. > :31:05.prompting firms to dream of possible silverware. They needed penalties to

:31:06. > :31:09.beat West Brom in the last round, so how would they fare against a

:31:10. > :31:13.Chelsea side gaining momentum with every game and boosted by the late

:31:14. > :31:17.win against Manchester City on Sunday? Arsene Wenger made eight

:31:18. > :31:21.changes, Nicklas Bendtner was given a start, and Jose Mourinho made ten

:31:22. > :31:26.changes, Gary Cahill the only remaining player to start from

:31:27. > :31:51.Sunday's win over City. We join Jon Champion once again.

:31:52. > :31:58.It was deflected on its part. Why he was trying to keep it in is a

:31:59. > :32:17.mystery because it was going out anyway for a corner.

:32:18. > :32:31.Not quite enough on it! Cesar Azpilicueta takes advantage! It is

:32:32. > :32:42.the second time in 48 hours that a defender's header has been wayward.

:32:43. > :32:51.A very nasty moment here for Jenkinson, agonising for Arsenal to

:32:52. > :33:12.watch again. A moment of unbridled joy for Cesar Azpilicueta.

:33:13. > :33:26.The goal has livened this game up. That is a man in form, and we have

:33:27. > :33:53.not been able to say that for a while, Fernando Torres.

:33:54. > :34:05.Well struck, and enough to concern the goalkeeper, Schwarzer.

:34:06. > :34:34.And it looks like Arsenal will fail to reach the last eight of the

:34:35. > :34:42.League Cup for the first time in 11 seasons. Wonderfully crisp strike

:34:43. > :34:48.from Juan Mata. His first goal of the season and a reminder to

:34:49. > :35:06.Mourinho of just what he can contribute when given the chance.

:35:07. > :35:17.That was his first touch. And it was very nearly Chelsea's third goal.

:35:18. > :35:39.Chelsea Flower Show neatly and nicely now. -- Chelsea flowing.

:35:40. > :35:49.A night of near misses and nothing more for Arsenal, and there have

:35:50. > :35:53.not, in truth been too many of them. It was a very tight game, you know,

:35:54. > :35:59.when we analyse it, we will see that. We took... They took advantage

:36:00. > :36:08.of the States, but we put ourselves in a position to put them under

:36:09. > :36:11.pressure. On the counterattack, in the second half, they took advantage

:36:12. > :36:18.of it. On the whole, I still think there is a lot of positives in that

:36:19. > :36:21.game. Is the secret to getting more starts more performances like that?

:36:22. > :36:26.Work hard, light up the game, is that all you can do, really? Yes, it

:36:27. > :36:31.is all I can do, and all that I did for this club. I always tried my

:36:32. > :36:36.best, every training session, every game, and today that is what I did.

:36:37. > :36:41.Everybody wants to play, and at the end of the day, it is the manager's

:36:42. > :36:45.decision, and I just try my best and respect my team-mates and try to

:36:46. > :36:52.score like I did today. There is doing all you can, but was that when

:36:53. > :37:00.a reflection of both squads' strings at the moment? Yeah, comfortable. A

:37:01. > :37:06.mistake and a wonderful goal. In the end, comfortable maybe, but it was a

:37:07. > :37:14.reasonably close game. What you have got is... What I love about Chelsea

:37:15. > :37:17.is, right, make no bones about it, this is a wonderful side, I think

:37:18. > :37:21.five of them started in the Champions League. But the

:37:22. > :37:26.application and a way that they approach every game in this Cup,

:37:27. > :37:35.they never took their foot off the Gas. The application of the players

:37:36. > :37:42.is second to none. I watched him at Swindon, Mata, he worked so hard in

:37:43. > :37:49.the game. He worked so hard in the Swindon game and in this one. The

:37:50. > :37:55.application in these games, this was the first cup that Mourinho won, if

:37:56. > :38:02.I remember rightly. That is a wonderful strike. You could have

:38:03. > :38:06.said at that stage... Arsenal were maybe starting to get back in the

:38:07. > :38:09.game, but that is a wonderful finish. I like Chelsea, because I

:38:10. > :38:15.like the way they approach these games, and they always take this

:38:16. > :38:17.competition seriously. They are capitalising on some good luck at

:38:18. > :38:25.the minute with defensive mistakes from the opposition. Where does this

:38:26. > :38:29.leave Arsenal at the minute? A slight dip in form, having lost two

:38:30. > :38:39.at home Chew Magna we should not get too carried away with that. Is this

:38:40. > :38:43.the problem we have had with Arsenal in previous years? They have won the

:38:44. > :38:47.games they should have won, but against the bigger sides they have

:38:48. > :38:50.come up short, that is what people might be questioning now, I'm not

:38:51. > :38:56.sure it is a question of that, but they did OK, they just come up a

:38:57. > :39:03.little bit short against a really good side. Tough games for them,

:39:04. > :39:07.Liverpool, Dortmund and United waiting in the wings. Manchester

:39:08. > :39:16.United entertained Norwich, and they needed to come from behind twice to

:39:17. > :39:20.beat Stoke on Saturday. There were nine changes for Tonight, only Phil

:39:21. > :39:24.Jones and Tom Cleverley remained, Chris Hughton made eight changes as

:39:25. > :39:26.Leroy Fer, Sebastien Bassong and Robert Snodgrass stayed in. Steve

:39:27. > :39:50.Bower describes this one. Hernandez almost got that in! He did

:39:51. > :39:57.not get the final touch either, it is a Manchester United corner. The

:39:58. > :40:00.two youngsters combined year, 18-year-old Januzaj, 20 old Zaha,

:40:01. > :40:02.but look at the movement of Hernandez in between the two

:40:03. > :40:19.defenders. -- 20-year-old. That was a risky challenge, and it

:40:20. > :40:41.is a penalty. Leroy Fer. He pointed to the spot. That is the

:40:42. > :40:46.ball, a lovely turn from Januzaj. The contact, it was a silly

:40:47. > :40:50.challenge from Leroy Fer. He was going nowhere. No Robin van Persie

:40:51. > :40:57.tonight, so the penalty spot responsibility falls on Javier

:40:58. > :41:01.Hernandez, the man whose goal beat Liverpool in round three. He has the

:41:02. > :41:11.opportunity to give Manchester United the lead in round four. 1-0,

:41:12. > :41:19.Manchester United! It is his third goal of the season. David Moyes'

:41:20. > :41:23.team in front. His 11th goal in his last 16 starts. A Manchester

:41:24. > :41:29.monsoon. Just the penalty separating the two

:41:30. > :41:43.teams. That is useful, Hernandez! And

:41:44. > :41:52.second time, 2-0, Manchester United! It is Javier Hernandez again.

:41:53. > :42:00.The credit has to go to Alexander Buttner for the delivery year. Good

:42:01. > :42:04.reactions first time, he could not keep without second time, because

:42:05. > :42:23.Hernandez, as ever, was alive to the situation.

:42:24. > :42:35.That is inviting Fulston on grass, good saved by Lindegaard. -- for

:42:36. > :42:36.Snodgrass, good saved by Lindegaard. Much more positive from Norwich, and

:42:37. > :42:57.it all came from Nathan Redmond. This is a long stoppage which tells

:42:58. > :43:14.you the severity of the situation. Almost eight minutes this has taken.

:43:15. > :43:21.It is a worrying sight. Warm applause around the stadium for

:43:22. > :43:29.Robert Snodgrass. Everyone hopes he makes as quick a recovery as

:43:30. > :44:07.possible. Can Norwich make this interesting in the closing stages?

:44:08. > :44:20.Jones with a volley! That seals it once and for all. Phil Jones with

:44:21. > :44:29.his first goal since December 2011, and it was a fantastic it. -- hit.

:44:30. > :44:32.He got over it, kept it down, no chance. Not a raid on the

:44:33. > :44:34.scoresheet, but his goal has killed off Norwich once and for all. -- not

:44:35. > :44:49.a regular. Wayne Rooney has found Fabio, the

:44:50. > :44:57.substitute, he has a chance, and he has scored. Only been on the pitch

:44:58. > :45:11.two minutes. And Fabio gets the fourth goal for Manchester United.

:45:12. > :45:22.Manchester United four, Norwich, zero.

:45:23. > :45:29.I didn't think it was a penalty. But in the end, those three goals made

:45:30. > :45:34.it comprehensive. We had a penalty given against us that was never a

:45:35. > :45:37.penalty, never. That is the moralising when you come here and

:45:38. > :45:40.make a decent account of yourself against a quality team and to get

:45:41. > :45:48.such a soft and of the as that, it is hard to take. -- demoralising.

:45:49. > :45:55.Talk about a roller-coaster, this game never let up from when Fulham

:45:56. > :45:58.'s band the home crowd by taking the lead after 18 minutes, with Hugo

:45:59. > :46:03.Rodallega getting the first of seven goals. The free kick from Anthony

:46:04. > :46:10.knockout was not held by Maarten Stekelenburg. Four minutes later,

:46:11. > :46:17.Fulham dug themselves a bigger hall, with Paul can jesty getting in the

:46:18. > :46:21.way of a clearance from Phillips and Ross, and Chris Wood put it away.

:46:22. > :46:25.That became 31, soon after the break, as against Southampton at the

:46:26. > :46:32.weekend, the Fulham defence failed to clear the danger and then made it

:46:33. > :46:36.worse by leaving Miguel to score his first goal in English football. Back

:46:37. > :46:43.came for them within 60 seconds. This time it was the Leicester

:46:44. > :46:46.defence at all. Hugo Rodallega outfoxed the foxes to cut the

:46:47. > :46:54.deficit to 3-2. Chances came and went and then three minutes from

:46:55. > :47:01.time Karagounis and beast this free kick special, but Leicester had

:47:02. > :47:04.other ideas than extra time. Another pair of fresh legs belonging to

:47:05. > :47:06.Lloyd Dyer finished off the scoring, and this time there was no way back

:47:07. > :47:19.for Fulham. We have had a good run at home

:47:20. > :47:24.recently. They have in tight games. And that was a Premier League

:47:25. > :47:30.outfit. It has been a bit of an open game. But it is good for the squad

:47:31. > :47:37.to experience a win, I think, against Premier League opposition.

:47:38. > :47:42.To come back from 3-1, back to 3-3, it was positive but it was

:47:43. > :47:47.disastrous that they scored the winner. Having not out holders

:47:48. > :47:55.Swansea in round three, Burnley had form, but Stoke took the lead and

:47:56. > :47:58.should never have looked at. Osama Assaidi cracked in his first goal

:47:59. > :48:07.for Stoke City since joining from Liverpool. The header was laid off

:48:08. > :48:22.by Nikola Zigic. Look out for the fall to the ground

:48:23. > :48:25.from Assaidi. All three match officials became involved and

:48:26. > :48:29.Elliott was sent off just before half-time. Ten minutes after the

:48:30. > :48:35.restart Peter Crouch showed by the can be such an awkward customer than

:48:36. > :48:40.expertly directed header, his third goal in five games for a 2-1 lead.

:48:41. > :48:46.Soon after it looked all over for ten man Birmingham. And Marco

:48:47. > :48:56.Arnautovic, Aberdeen and unstoppable shot for a 3-1 lead. -- fired in an

:48:57. > :49:00.unstoppable shot. Then, surely, Birmingham could have been down and

:49:01. > :49:04.out. But instead, the home side and substitute Peter Lovenkrands

:49:05. > :49:09.engineered a startling comeback. Poor defending and 3-2, with six

:49:10. > :49:20.minutes to go. The into stoppage time, the substitute Gray Clive is

:49:21. > :49:25.luck and then Peter Lovenkrands struck again. Ken when Jones took

:49:26. > :49:28.Stoke City back into the lead. Surely there was no way back this

:49:29. > :49:32.time per Birmingham. Wrong, again. Once more, Birmingham rouse

:49:33. > :49:40.themselves for a final effort and with two minutes remaining, Ollie

:49:41. > :49:45.Lee made it 4-4, forcing a penalty shoot out. Mitch Hancox was first

:49:46. > :49:52.up. And that was the problem with his penalty, up and over. Cal Riley

:49:53. > :49:57.was next and did not even hit the target. That left Stoke City and

:49:58. > :50:01.Stephen N'Zonzi to finish the job that he and his team-mates had

:50:02. > :50:05.carelessly let slip, and Stoke City were into the Brett Brown for only

:50:06. > :50:09.the second time in 34 years. -- into the fifth round.

:50:10. > :50:21.We made a dog 's dinner of it to be perfectly honest. We were fairly

:50:22. > :50:29.comfortable. And we seem to lose, we just needed to see the game out to

:50:30. > :50:33.its King -- conclusion. We were down to ten men with two or three minutes

:50:34. > :50:39.to go in the first half, then they go 3-1 up, and it is like, what can

:50:40. > :50:40.we do here, but I have to praise the players for the spirit that they

:50:41. > :50:48.showed. They came back twice despite being

:50:49. > :50:55.down to ten men for most of the game. The spirit that has been shown

:50:56. > :51:00.throughout this competition, but it has not happened for them in the

:51:01. > :51:05.league yet, has it? They played brilliantly. They deservedly beat

:51:06. > :51:14.Swansea. And put on a very good show in difficult conditions with being a

:51:15. > :51:18.man down, and you are thinking, they have picked occasionally but not

:51:19. > :51:25.consistently. They have to take that form back onto Saturday. A good

:51:26. > :51:35.start to the season for Leicester City. It was like a game of

:51:36. > :51:40.basketball. Do you see the league cup as a distraction for a promotion

:51:41. > :51:44.chasing side, or is it a continuation of good form? I would

:51:45. > :51:50.rather play then train, I would rather win games and lose them. I do

:51:51. > :51:56.not get that it follows that you get into the cup and fold in the league,

:51:57. > :52:01.the statistics do not bear that out. I want to test myself against good

:52:02. > :52:05.sides and play in front of big crowds and fans who are looking

:52:06. > :52:12.forward to us doing well in games, and keep that feel-good factor

:52:13. > :52:16.going. We saw Manchester United finish up comfortable winners

:52:17. > :52:24.against Norwich City. Four goals, happier Hernandez, he got a brace,

:52:25. > :52:31.but I know that you were impressed by a certain Belgian wonder kid.

:52:32. > :52:36.Yes, Adnan Januzaj. He has played now left-wing, right-wing, he came

:52:37. > :52:40.on and played right wing, and he has played in behind the front player.

:52:41. > :52:45.He just looks like a really good player. Wherever you put them he

:52:46. > :52:51.looks like he knows how to play that position, right across the front

:52:52. > :53:00.three, I suppose. He's a plus for David Moyes. He could solve one or

:53:01. > :53:14.two problems that he has. David Moyes will be hoping that that

:53:15. > :53:17.starts a consistent run of results. Our last game now and Burnley have

:53:18. > :53:20.been the Championship's surprise package this season - and Sean

:53:21. > :53:24.Dyche's side were full of confidence after winning the battle of the

:53:25. > :53:27.League's top two against QPR on Saturday. Last night, West Ham were

:53:28. > :53:30.the visitors to Turf Moor. The Hammers had won just two of their

:53:31. > :53:34.last 20 away matches in all competitions - a run going back to

:53:35. > :53:37.November 2012. Burnley made four changes, as former Hammer Junior

:53:38. > :53:40.Stanislas started. While for the Hammers, there were nine changes, as

:53:41. > :53:41.only James Tomkins and Mohamed Diame stayed. Alistair Mann describes this

:53:42. > :53:54.one. Good effort, and just tipped wide by

:53:55. > :54:05.Adrian. The first stinging shot of the evening hit by the former West

:54:06. > :54:12.Ham player. Nicely in by Danny Ings. And helped over the top by the

:54:13. > :54:16.goalkeeper. Burnley are so invented. Danny Ings with the quick feet and

:54:17. > :54:21.the speed of thought the match. Kieran Trippier has the ability to

:54:22. > :54:26.score from this kind of position. He has an unusual technique, where he

:54:27. > :54:34.hits right through the ball. He has gone for it, and hit the bar. Kieran

:54:35. > :54:42.Trippier, with his unique style of taking the dead ball. He is so

:54:43. > :54:46.precise, so careful. The West Ham supporters are of the mind that

:54:47. > :54:51.their side can win this diet. They have certainly grown into it as the

:54:52. > :54:56.second half has gone on. The referee points to the spot, penalty. The

:54:57. > :55:02.referee has gone to his pocket and produced a yellow card.

:55:03. > :55:13.So, Matt Taylor, inside the last 15 minutes, with a chance to settle the

:55:14. > :55:17.tie, maybe. Terrific penalty, and West Ham celebrate in front of the

:55:18. > :55:23.supporters behind that goal. And the Premier League side have nudged as

:55:24. > :55:29.against The Championship leaders. He has done his homework on this one,

:55:30. > :55:34.hasn't he? He drew the sting of Burnley then brought on his

:55:35. > :55:39.experience players in the second. Maddie Broome Eiger will get there.

:55:40. > :55:44.And the clearance goes straight into the path of Jack Collison. Is that

:55:45. > :55:50.another penalty? It is, you know. The foul by Keith Treacy on Jack

:55:51. > :55:57.Collison as he was shaping to hit it. And it is a red card as well, to

:55:58. > :56:02.compound the misery. Jack Collison shaping to shoot, Keith Treacy

:56:03. > :56:07.catches him, and the referee sends him off.

:56:08. > :56:16.2-0, to West Ham. Jack Collison sending Heaton the wrong way, and

:56:17. > :56:28.two penalty kicks have settled this Capital one Cup five. -- tie. The

:56:29. > :56:32.first half performance, we were making sure that we can paint

:56:33. > :56:35.Burnley, who are free scoring at the top of The Championship, and we did

:56:36. > :56:42.the right good job and in the end it was a fantastic result for us. West

:56:43. > :56:47.Ham through to the quarterfinals. A couple of penalties. Sean Dyche was

:56:48. > :56:54.not particularly unhappy with the first one. From what we saw, he has

:56:55. > :57:00.made contact with the ball. You are not going to get great elevation on

:57:01. > :57:04.the ball, the board is not going to massively change direction, but we

:57:05. > :57:08.could not really see how the tackle was made and what sort of contact,

:57:09. > :57:15.whether you made any, on the ball or not. We have got to move on, because

:57:16. > :57:17.the quarterfinal draw was made earlier. This is how they came out

:57:18. > :57:24.of the hat. Sunderland do not play Southampton

:57:25. > :57:35.for a few days. The big four kept apart, which is

:57:36. > :57:44.intriguing. This is when it starts to get serious. If you, this is when

:57:45. > :57:51.you think, I tell you what, a couple of games and you are there. Do you

:57:52. > :57:59.see any shocks there? The Premier League sides have got a good chance,

:58:00. > :58:04.and it is difficult to see, if they put out a full squad, whether they

:58:05. > :58:09.are going to get beaten or not. We are back with a leek show on

:58:10. > :58:14.Saturday night. Thank you for your company this evening, Steve, and

:58:15. > :58:23.that is it from the fourth round of the turbulent macro. A few scary

:58:24. > :58:26.moments for some of the Premier League side who have departed.
