0:00:06 > 0:00:09And it will be time for these two teams to settle it

0:00:09 > 0:00:11between the white lines.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13He's going to fire towards the end zone.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Montana throw.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Touchdown.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Rodgers looking downfield.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24The one-man wrecking crew.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25Unbelievable.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Let's go!

0:00:27 > 0:00:28How did he do that?

0:00:28 > 0:00:29In the end zone.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Caught!

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Unstoppable.

0:00:35 > 0:00:36Welcome to the NFL Show.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39We are pretty much halfway through the regular season

0:00:39 > 0:00:41which means that it's time for our half-term report.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44And later in the show we're going to be, no doubt harshly,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47judging your beloved team's chances of success.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Also we will be showing you highlights between the AFC East

0:00:49 > 0:00:51rivals the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54And we're going to talk one-handed catches.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Are there more now because of the gloves?

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Or are the modern players just better than the old ones?

0:00:59 > 0:01:04And of course we'll bring you all the best action from Week 8.

0:01:04 > 0:01:08This is probably a horrible time to mention I've got to pee.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10You never know about a player really, truly, until you get

0:01:10 > 0:01:12them in your building.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13And you can work with guys.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15This kid is unbelievable.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17The way he prepares, the way he practices.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20As long as we don't screw him up, right?!

0:01:20 > 0:01:24We're going backwards, dammit, let's go.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Before I lose my freaking mind, we better figure this BLEEP out!

0:01:26 > 0:01:31Let's go!

0:01:31 > 0:01:38How many tackles have you got?

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Last weekend there was one game that stood out above all others.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44It was the Houston Texans at the Seattle Seahawks.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Both teams started the game within clear sight of the top

0:01:47 > 0:01:54of their divisions and so both teams had plenty to gain by a win.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57And this was certainly a "let's play this game to win" rather

0:01:57 > 0:01:59than a "let's play it not to lose", wasn't it?

0:01:59 > 0:02:01It was entertaining from start to finish.

0:02:01 > 0:02:02Yes, it was.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04I couldn't wait to watch this game.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Because I wanted to see how Deshaun Watson was going to respond

0:02:06 > 0:02:08against the Legion of Boom, Seattle's defence.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10And boy did he put up some numbers, man.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12And I'll stand up for that guy.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16He got off to that great start, finding Will Fuller for 59 yards.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Which is some way to start against Seattle.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21There were mistakes as well from Deshaun Watson,

0:02:21 > 0:02:25but when you're looking at a rookie quarterback in his first

0:02:25 > 0:02:28year, taking on Seattle, you will expect mistakes,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30I suppose?

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Especially against the Legion of Boom, right?

0:02:33 > 0:02:35This is arguably the best secondary in football.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38But what was so fantastic about his performance,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and you see this right here, I mean he got lucky

0:02:40 > 0:02:42with the one before.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Not lucky, but it was a good throw.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Right here this is what a good safety does.

0:02:47 > 0:02:48Reading his eyes.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50We talk about that all the time.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53And we talked about that on the Tuesday night show and we did

0:02:53 > 0:02:54some quite in-depth analysis on this game.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Still our pictures have Tony Romo's arrows all over it!

0:02:57 > 0:02:58As they did on Tuesday night.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59But that's absolutely fine.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01It's the way he bounced back, you know.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05As a rookie, you make a mistake, you say is he going to go under

0:03:05 > 0:03:07the tank or is he going to perform well?

0:03:07 > 0:03:09And he did that, man, it was a highlight film!

0:03:09 > 0:03:12He did that in Seattle, now, Mark, I've literally seen people,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14quarterbacks, go down there and disappear.

0:03:14 > 0:03:15Nowhere to be found.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17But he showed up over and over and over again.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Battled back through some adverse situations.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21And yet he was up against a superstar quarterback

0:03:21 > 0:03:24who showed his superstar qualities numerous times.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27As we will see over the course of these highlights.

0:03:27 > 0:03:32I mean, just the bigger picture of this game is,

0:03:32 > 0:03:39you show it to somebody who as we're showing you now, isn't massively

0:03:39 > 0:03:41into American football maybe or hasn't discovered the sport.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44This is the game that would get them into it.

0:03:44 > 0:03:45Absolutely.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Because the main thing you always want to see is the deep ball, right?

0:03:48 > 0:03:49The touchdown.

0:03:49 > 0:03:50The ball flying in the air.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52And that's what you saw.

0:03:52 > 0:03:53Both these guys can do that.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54They are a rare breed.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57As you said by the time we are into the second

0:03:57 > 0:03:58quarter it is 14 up.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01And it's not just the deep ball, but it is both quarterbacks,

0:04:01 > 0:04:03how they get themselves out of trouble.

0:04:03 > 0:04:04Dissecting the defences, doing everything, running,

0:04:04 > 0:04:05scrambling, getting out of trouble.

0:04:05 > 0:04:07I mean, they showed a plethora of weapons, man.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10So many different things that these two quarterbacks were able to do.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12And here's another deep ball from Russell Wilson.

0:04:12 > 0:04:1653 yard strike to Tanner McEvoy.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Do you think, I mean, have you been in games similar

0:04:18 > 0:04:21to this where in some ways, both quarterbacks are

0:04:21 > 0:04:23spurring each other on?

0:04:23 > 0:04:26Yeah and you know, as a defensive back, the worst thing you can feel

0:04:26 > 0:04:29is like this guy is just going to throw it right every time.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32And it seemed like both those guys had their rhythm

0:04:32 > 0:04:33and they were competing against each other.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36Even though they were both on offence.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39The crazy thing about this is these teams believe in their quarterbacks.

0:04:39 > 0:04:40And you can see it.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42They feel like no matter what the situation is,

0:04:42 > 0:04:45their quarterback is going to get them out of that position and get

0:04:45 > 0:04:46them into the right play.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48And they did it time after time again.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51At 21-all going into half-time, from a defensive point of view,

0:04:51 > 0:04:57we talk about the Seattle legendary descents, why wasn't it

0:04:57 > 0:05:03legendary in this game?

0:05:03 > 0:05:05-- defence.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07Why did it allow the Texans so many points?

0:05:07 > 0:05:08Mark, there's a song that goes...

0:05:08 > 0:05:10# Mamma said there'd be days like this!

0:05:10 > 0:05:12And some days it just happens like that.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15I think they went in thinking this is a young rookie quarterback,

0:05:15 > 0:05:18we are the Legion of Boom, we are Seattle, we are going

0:05:18 > 0:05:19to shut this guy down.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21But obviously this man had other plans.

0:05:21 > 0:05:22Seattle literally had no answer for him.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24Even though they did get some interceptions,

0:05:24 > 0:05:27but they had no answer for him the whole day.

0:05:27 > 0:05:28Let's watch Deshaun Watson again evading the rush.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30Exactly what we were talking about.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32Just watching quarterbacks get out of trouble.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34And then finding Miller for that two yard touchdown.

0:05:34 > 0:05:35And then that took them to 31-27.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38Just from the Texans' defensive point of view,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41as great as Russell Wilson and the Seattle offence was,

0:05:41 > 0:05:43does it just highlight that the injuries that they have

0:05:43 > 0:05:48had, the injury problems they've had, is going to weaken them?

0:05:48 > 0:05:49No question about that.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52But what you have to understand is the Houston Texans,

0:05:52 > 0:05:54they couldn't have imagined that the defence would give

0:05:54 > 0:05:56up this many points.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58And they would still have an opportunity to win

0:05:58 > 0:05:59this football game.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01Yeah but now their secondary is getting exposed, right,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03with the loss of JJ Watt.

0:06:03 > 0:06:04They're used to having more pressure.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06These guys have got to cover longer.

0:06:06 > 0:06:07Even though Jadeveon Clowney was bawling.

0:06:07 > 0:06:08He was.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10He still doesn't have the same amount of pressure

0:06:10 > 0:06:12that they used to have.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14So we have said that going into this, Houston

0:06:14 > 0:06:16were still in touch with their divisional leader.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19And now as you can see Seattle 34-31 up and yet a couple of plays

0:06:19 > 0:06:24later, Watson finds DeAndre Hopkins, who then goes 72 yards.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27And that then takes Houston 38-34 up.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30Oh, man.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33I mean, just as you watch all these highlights,

0:06:33 > 0:06:36it is whatever you can do, I can either do as well

0:06:36 > 0:06:37or I can do better.

0:06:37 > 0:06:39Russell Wilson too, man, I mean everybody kind of forgets

0:06:39 > 0:06:41how great this guy is.

0:06:41 > 0:06:42Why?

0:06:42 > 0:06:44You know what, because he's a middle-of-the-road guy

0:06:44 > 0:06:46as far as his age, right.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49You've got the older guys that you always talk about.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53You forget about this guy.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56You forget that he has arguably got one of the best deep

0:06:56 > 0:06:57balls in the league.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59You know, the way it drops in.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02And he is a playmaker and always running for his life and making

0:07:02 > 0:07:04plays and it works out.

0:07:04 > 0:07:08So he found Jimmy Graham, that put them 41-38 up.

0:07:08 > 0:07:1220 seconds on the clock, I think we saw there.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14And having done all that and praised him to the hilt,

0:07:14 > 0:07:18we now have to report that during the week Deshaun Watson

0:07:18 > 0:07:22damaged his ACL and is now out for the season.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24So this is devastating, isn't it, for Watson, for Texans,

0:07:24 > 0:07:29and actually for fans of the sport?

0:07:29 > 0:07:31Absolutely, no way they're going to be able to recover

0:07:31 > 0:07:33from something like this.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35Obviously they lost JJ Watt who was the heart

0:07:35 > 0:07:36and soul of their team.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39They lost Whitney Mercilus, also an outstanding football player.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43And now to lose this quarterback who had become

0:07:43 > 0:07:45the face of the franchise, a young superstar, there was talk

0:07:45 > 0:07:48about this guy possibly being MVP of the league.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51And to lose this guy for the season, absolutely devastating

0:07:51 > 0:07:52for the Houston Texans.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55I don't see a way to recover from this.

0:07:55 > 0:08:01He definitely was going to get the rookie offensive MVP of the year.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03You just feel bad for the guy.

0:08:03 > 0:08:04Hopefully he bounces back.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06I feel bad for the Texans.

0:08:06 > 0:08:07Too many injuries, way too many.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Now they found a quarterback!

0:08:09 > 0:08:10OK, thank you very much.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Here's what else happened in week eight.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15The question trick or treat?

0:08:15 > 0:08:18All treat tonight.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20Remember when you were a kid back playing popcorn,

0:08:20 > 0:08:22when you didn't care anything about money, you didn't care

0:08:22 > 0:08:23anything about politics.

0:08:23 > 0:08:27You went out there and you played every day for the love of the game.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29For the love of just wandering around with your friends.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31So today go back to that popcorner in you!

0:08:31 > 0:08:33The Pittsburgh Steelers at the Detroit Lions.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35Keeping up with the Joneses, a Smith.

0:08:35 > 0:08:39Juju Smith Schuster.

0:08:39 > 0:08:4397 yards!

0:08:43 > 0:08:48The Steelers strong at the top of the AFC North.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51The Minnesota Vikings at the Cleveland Browns

0:08:51 > 0:08:54in that old slice of Ohio known as Twickenham.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57And the Browns have the lead for the first time in

0:08:57 > 0:08:59the first half this season.

0:08:59 > 0:09:02They built a lead and then saw it disappear.

0:09:02 > 0:09:07The Vikings six and two in the driving seat of the NFC North.

0:09:07 > 0:09:17Touchdown, Vikings!

0:09:17 > 0:09:19The Oakland Raiders at the Buffalo Bills.

0:09:19 > 0:09:21One of those days for Derek Carr.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24Intercepted!

0:09:24 > 0:09:29And the Bills keeping it high-class and keen in the AFC East.

0:09:29 > 0:09:30He is in the clear!

0:09:30 > 0:09:33He is going to score!

0:09:33 > 0:09:35The rain fell in Washington as the Dallas Cowboys

0:09:35 > 0:09:37came to the capital.

0:09:37 > 0:09:40Ezequiel Elliott with better control.

0:09:40 > 0:09:44The Cowboys four and three above the Redskins, three and four.

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Intercepted!

0:09:46 > 0:09:49Touchdown, Maraschino Cherries!

0:09:49 > 0:09:52It was a rotten way to lose a game.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54The Chicago Bears at the New Orleans Saints.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56And he is going to score!

0:09:56 > 0:09:58What a great weapon that rookie has got.

0:09:58 > 0:10:02The Saints top of the NFC South.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06The Denver Broncos at the Kansas City Chiefs.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10In a week of the fumbled football, this was a purer piece of bourbon.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11Marcus Peters.

0:10:11 > 0:10:12The ball is ripped up!

0:10:12 > 0:10:13Touchdown!

0:10:13 > 0:10:17Kansas City!

0:10:17 > 0:10:19The Chiefs rediscovering winning ways to stay ahead of the Broncos

0:10:19 > 0:10:25at the top of the AFC West.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28The Atlanta Falcons at the New York Jets.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30Might Josh McCown and Robbie Anderson steal

0:10:30 > 0:10:32the show from the Jets?

0:10:32 > 0:10:33He's got it.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36Perfect pass from Josh McCown.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38Matt Ryan, as they say, was having trouble on the snap.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Another fumbled snap.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44Fourth of the day for the Falcons.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47Until he found, as he does, Julio Jones.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Looking for Julio Jones, who has got it.

0:10:49 > 0:10:57The Falcons four and three, hanging on in the NFC South.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59So here are all the results from week eight.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02A couple to pick out that you didn't see.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04Philadelphia Eagles continue to march on with the 33-10

0:11:04 > 0:11:07win over the 49ers.

0:11:07 > 0:11:09And the New England Patriots getting some momentum

0:11:09 > 0:11:11after their early-season blip.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15They beat the Chargers 21-13.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17So we will focus on the AFC first of all.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20As you can see plenty of teams with winning records in the east.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22But the Patriots top it six and two.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24The Steelers also are six and two.

0:11:24 > 0:11:26As are the Chiefs in the West.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29The South much tighter with the Titans, Jaguars and Texans

0:11:29 > 0:11:33all still hoping to get top spot.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36And therefore we are at that stage where if the season was to end

0:11:36 > 0:11:39today, the division leaders who all go into the play-offs

0:11:39 > 0:11:42automatically would be the Steelers, the Chiefs, the Patriots

0:11:42 > 0:11:44and the Titans.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47And then the two sides with the best records who are not the division

0:11:47 > 0:11:48leaders become the wild cards.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51And at the moment they are the Bills and the Jaguars.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53And if you want to see where all the other teams

0:11:53 > 0:11:56are who are in the hunt, the Dolphins, the Ravens,

0:11:56 > 0:11:58the Texans and the Bengals complete the top ten.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02So that is what it would be then if the season ended now.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05But we're going to ask you to look into the future and try and predict

0:12:05 > 0:12:08what will happen at the end of the season.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12So the four divisional winners first of all.

0:12:12 > 0:12:15I suppose the south is the hardest to call?

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Yeah, that's going to be a tough one.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20And I'm going to jump off the deep end and say Houston Texans

0:12:20 > 0:12:22are going to win that.

0:12:22 > 0:12:23As a former Houston Texan!

0:12:23 > 0:12:25And I like what is happening now.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28OK, so you say the Texans will win that division.

0:12:28 > 0:12:29Who do you think will win that division?

0:12:29 > 0:12:31I will have to go with Jacksonville.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34Yeah, I like the way they're playing defensively and defence

0:12:34 > 0:12:35is always going to...

0:12:35 > 0:12:37And towards the end of the season defence

0:12:37 > 0:12:38is what is going to carry your team.

0:12:38 > 0:12:41So I'm going to go with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44Now when you look at the other three divisions, is it easy to pick

0:12:44 > 0:12:45the divisional winners?

0:12:45 > 0:12:46Yeah, it's pretty easy right now.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49Everyone that's on the top is dominating right now.

0:12:49 > 0:12:51They are dominating, they're playing well in all facets.

0:12:51 > 0:12:52So Patriots, Steelers, Chiefs?

0:12:52 > 0:12:53Yes.

0:12:53 > 0:12:54OK.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56So that leaves us with the two wild cards.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59The two other teams who will have the best records to get

0:12:59 > 0:13:00through with the divisional winners.

0:13:00 > 0:13:01Osi?

0:13:01 > 0:13:02Tennessee Titans.

0:13:02 > 0:13:03OK.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05Tennessee and who as your wild card?

0:13:05 > 0:13:06Tennessee and the Baltimore Ravens.

0:13:06 > 0:13:07OK.

0:13:07 > 0:13:10Why!

0:13:10 > 0:13:12Laugh now, cry later!

0:13:12 > 0:13:18Sometimes I feel like crying now and laughing later!

0:13:18 > 0:13:20I'm going Buffalo and then I'll go Jacksonville.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22Right, because you've got Houston as the divisional winners?

0:13:22 > 0:13:23OK.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25So you think as well that Jacksonville will

0:13:25 > 0:13:26be able to get to...

0:13:26 > 0:13:29What would be a wild card, nine and seven, ten and six?

0:13:29 > 0:13:31In the AFC ten and six.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33OK.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36So that's what you think as far as the AFC is concerned.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38Now let's switch to the NFC.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40And as I said with the results, Philadelphia

0:13:40 > 0:13:41flying in the East.

0:13:41 > 0:13:42They are seven and one.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44Minnesota have a bit of a lead in the North.

0:13:44 > 0:13:48It is tight in the NFC South but the New Orleans Saints got five

0:13:48 > 0:13:51on the trot and the Seahawks and the Rams are tied in the West.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54So again if the season was to end today, your divisional winners

0:13:54 > 0:13:57in the NFC would be the Eagles, the Vikings, the Seahawks

0:13:57 > 0:13:58and the Saints.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00And the two wild card teams with the best records elsewhere

0:14:00 > 0:14:03would be the Rams and the Panthers.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07And here are the other teams that would be in the hunt.

0:14:07 > 0:14:08Falcons, Packers, Cowboys and Lions.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11Completing the top ten.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13I mean there are a couple of divisions that have

0:14:13 > 0:14:14a little bit more debate.

0:14:14 > 0:14:17But again your eyes are drawn to the south as the one

0:14:17 > 0:14:19that looks wide open?

0:14:19 > 0:14:21And we knew that was going to be competitive

0:14:21 > 0:14:23at the beginning of the season.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25I didn't know New Orleans was going to be playing this well!

0:14:25 > 0:14:27Obviously they are dominating, I think they're going

0:14:27 > 0:14:28to pull that out.

0:14:28 > 0:14:30OK, so the Saints for you?

0:14:30 > 0:14:31Saints for me.

0:14:31 > 0:14:32I'll take the Saints also.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35OK and I'm assuming that you would both go reluctantly maybe

0:14:35 > 0:14:38for the Eagles in the East?

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Yeah, they're running away with it, man.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43Arguably one of the best teams in the NFL right now.

0:14:43 > 0:14:44They're flying!

0:14:44 > 0:14:45Very good!

0:14:45 > 0:14:47The North?

0:14:47 > 0:14:49Minnesota of course.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51Jay Bell's best friends in Minnesota!

0:14:51 > 0:14:52That defence?

0:14:52 > 0:14:54Probably the best in the league right now.

0:14:54 > 0:14:55Got to go with defence.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57And the West?

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Seattle Seahawks.

0:14:59 > 0:15:00They are the veteran team.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02I know Los Angeles Rams are playing really well.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06But the Seahawks are the veteran team and I think later in the season

0:15:06 > 0:15:07the defence is going to...

0:15:07 > 0:15:08Experience will tell?

0:15:08 > 0:15:09All of that.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11Everything is going to come into play.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14OK, so we are at the same point where we need the wild cards.

0:15:14 > 0:15:15Who would like to throw one up first of all?

0:15:15 > 0:15:18I'm going to go with the Atlanta Falcons as my wild card team.

0:15:18 > 0:15:19Oh, you're losing your mind!

0:15:19 > 0:15:21Slowly but surely!

0:15:21 > 0:15:23Rams.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25I'm going to throw another one out for you.

0:15:25 > 0:15:26Carolina.

0:15:26 > 0:15:28So why would you go Carolina and him go Atlanta?

0:15:28 > 0:15:29Because he doesn't know football!

0:15:29 > 0:15:31All right, that's why!

0:15:31 > 0:15:32I only played 12 years!

0:15:32 > 0:15:33You know what I mean?

0:15:33 > 0:15:34I don't know!

0:15:34 > 0:15:35And won...?

0:15:35 > 0:15:37And won two Super Bowls.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39I don't know anything about football!

0:15:39 > 0:15:41And set records.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43But I don't know anything about football!

0:15:43 > 0:15:44Jason knows football, not me!

0:15:44 > 0:15:48Anyway!

0:15:48 > 0:15:49Right, Carolina.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51Why?

0:15:51 > 0:15:52Because I like, I mean, listen.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54I think they're going to play steady defence.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58And I think Cam's going to get hot, I think he's going to get hot.

0:15:58 > 0:16:03I pick Atlanta because Atlanta has the better quarterback.

0:16:03 > 0:16:07And late on in the guy with the hot quarterback or the guy with a more

0:16:07 > 0:16:10experienced quarterback is the one who's going to win

0:16:10 > 0:16:11the game is for you.

0:16:11 > 0:16:12Can Newton is entirely too inconsistent.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Hasn't played that well outside of a couple of games this year.

0:16:15 > 0:16:16Atlanta for me.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18Would you throw the Rams in, as well?

0:16:18 > 0:16:19Definitely.

0:16:19 > 0:16:20Both Rams.

0:16:20 > 0:16:21You go Panthers, you go Falcons.

0:16:21 > 0:16:22OK.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25I'm sure you will want to debate with them or criticise them.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28More to the point, rather than debating, you can find them

0:16:28 > 0:16:29both on social media.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31You can also use hashtag BBC NFL.

0:16:31 > 0:16:33You can tell them exactly what you think.

0:16:33 > 0:16:34Let's go from one debate to another.

0:16:34 > 0:16:35One-handed catches.

0:16:35 > 0:16:40Is it because of talent or the tools?

0:16:40 > 0:16:42Great catch and into the end zone!

0:16:42 > 0:16:44Hauls it in.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47On the board again.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49Incredible!

0:16:49 > 0:16:54I've never seen that.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57I've never seen a guy catch it on his nameplate on the back

0:16:57 > 0:16:58and then keep his feet...

0:16:58 > 0:17:06Oh, my goodness.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11Touchdown at the far corner of the end zone.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15He is amazing.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17# I'm a rock star.

0:17:17 > 0:17:27Stretching out. He's got it.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29I need a pair of gloves.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32So to put the glove theory to the test, we have

0:17:32 > 0:17:33all been given gloves.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36You have a pair of Rams ones that took ten minutes

0:17:36 > 0:17:39to get your hands into, because you're hands are so big.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41Jason has Minnesota Vikings ones, because his friend plays

0:17:41 > 0:17:45for Minnesota Vikings.

0:17:45 > 0:17:46Is that Harrison Smith's signature?

0:17:46 > 0:17:48It is on the inside.

0:17:48 > 0:17:51For no reason whatsoever, I have Cardinals ones.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54You think these make a difference.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56It might be difficult to get across on television

0:17:56 > 0:18:04but when you put them together, they are very sticky.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07Exactly, man, and I think that is why you see these

0:18:07 > 0:18:08great one-handed catches.

0:18:08 > 0:18:11I was in the league 12 years, I've been watching football

0:18:11 > 0:18:1320-something years and only recently have you started to see these

0:18:13 > 0:18:14one-handed amazing catches.

0:18:14 > 0:18:15OK.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17I think it's because of the gloves.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19Get up and throw the ball to each other.

0:18:19 > 0:18:20Hang on.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22A word of warning.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25In rehearsal you threw it at his head.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28Right.

0:18:28 > 0:18:29I'm sorry.

0:18:29 > 0:18:30With anger.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32I'm sorry.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36How did you see who was catching the ball when you had your head

0:18:36 > 0:18:37in the dirt for 12 years?

0:18:37 > 0:18:38No, on tape.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40I watched a lot of film.

0:18:40 > 0:18:41Throw the ball to each other.

0:18:41 > 0:18:42You know what I mean?

0:18:42 > 0:18:43Boom.

0:18:43 > 0:18:44One-handed.

0:18:44 > 0:18:46Anybody can do it.

0:18:46 > 0:18:47Anybody.

0:18:47 > 0:18:48It must be more than just the gloves.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51Do you think there is a confidence that happens with people

0:18:51 > 0:18:54when they have these on, in that they will try catches that

0:18:54 > 0:18:56maybe they wouldn't try?

0:18:56 > 0:18:58I'm a defensive lineman.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00Look how easy I'm making that look, man.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03I think everybody, because they have these gloves on, they stick them on.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06They think they can do whatever it is they want.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08What about the guys who don't wear gloves?

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Those guys are the special guys.

0:19:09 > 0:19:10The Jerry Rices.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12The real receivers who do not wear gloves.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14Why doesn't everybody wear gloves now then

0:19:14 > 0:19:15if they make such a difference?

0:19:15 > 0:19:17I think some receivers like the natural feel.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21They like the feel of the ball to hit their hand like that.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24They don't like to have these gloves on because they think it might make

0:19:24 > 0:19:25them drop the ball.

0:19:25 > 0:19:27And also, when it rains, these get really slick.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30When it's raining you definitely don't want to have these on.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33Do you think they are good for the game in the sense

0:19:33 > 0:19:35that we see a lot of spectacular catches that get

0:19:35 > 0:19:37us up off our seats?

0:19:37 > 0:19:40I think so.

0:19:40 > 0:19:42Especially, I mean, look, I might have been good

0:19:42 > 0:19:45if I have these gloves, let's be honest.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47People want to be entertained.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50What I like is you can't talk and catch at the same time.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52If I drop this ball, it's over!

0:19:52 > 0:19:53I'm not messing around here.

0:19:53 > 0:19:55Theoretically, they should help anybody catch?

0:19:55 > 0:19:56Anybody, man.

0:19:56 > 0:19:58Let's see what you've got.

0:19:58 > 0:19:59Even Mark Chapman can do it!

0:19:59 > 0:20:04Eat your heart out.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06Sit down.

0:20:06 > 0:20:07You put extra spin on that.

0:20:07 > 0:20:16That was naughty.

0:20:16 > 0:20:18To the highlights of Thursday's game between AFC East rivals

0:20:18 > 0:20:20the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23Both teams played beyond what we would have expected this season.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25With the Bills in particular looking to keep the Patriots honest.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28Every time I try it, you still do it.

0:20:28 > 0:20:29Patriots are top of the division.

0:20:29 > 0:20:32You guys rehearsed this.

0:20:32 > 0:20:42No, we didn't.

0:20:42 > 0:20:43COMMENTATOR: So, from the pocket.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45Now flushed out.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47McCown can take off.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49He has got the touch!

0:20:49 > 0:20:5438 years old, looking like he's 25.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57Jets have already rushed for more yards in this first quarter

0:20:57 > 0:21:01than they did week one at Buffalo.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03Time for Taylor.

0:21:03 > 0:21:04Touchdown.

0:21:04 > 0:21:06Buffalo.

0:21:06 > 0:21:09Jones has his first NFL touchdown.

0:21:20 > 0:21:21We just mentioned it.

0:21:21 > 0:21:22Here we go.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24Anderson.

0:21:24 > 0:21:25Did he hold on?

0:21:25 > 0:21:31Yes, touchdown Jets.

0:21:35 > 0:21:36The power, and breaking out of it.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38What a run by Powell.

0:21:38 > 0:21:44They had him twice.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47My goodness, the effort of the night by Powell.

0:21:47 > 0:21:5251-yard run by Powell.

0:21:57 > 0:21:58Leans across.

0:21:58 > 0:22:00And it is a touchdown.

0:22:00 > 0:22:07That's game-changing right there.

0:22:07 > 0:22:08Taylor.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11Falls out of his hands and it's scooped up by

0:22:11 > 0:22:17Davis, down to the five.

0:22:17 > 0:22:20What a big-time play coming from behind by Jenkins

0:22:20 > 0:22:22to create the fumble.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24They had three giveaways on the season coming in,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27tonight they've given it away three times.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30Able to stand up and take it home.

0:22:37 > 0:22:44To the end zone.

0:22:44 > 0:22:45For the touchdown.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49Deonte Thompson.

0:22:49 > 0:22:51The kick and right into the hands and the drop

0:22:51 > 0:22:54and recovered by the Bills.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56How did he not hold onto that?

0:22:56 > 0:22:57Watch this.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00He's like, don't hit me!

0:23:00 > 0:23:02Drops it.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05Thomas makes the recovery.

0:23:05 > 0:23:11He might motion down this receiver right here.

0:23:12 > 0:23:14And he is able to pick up the 1st down.

0:23:14 > 0:23:16Take us to the two-minute warning.

0:23:16 > 0:23:19Bills can't stop it again.

0:23:19 > 0:23:21It should all but finish it off.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24Everybody was clicking on all sides and playing at a high level.

0:23:24 > 0:23:34It was a great win.

0:23:34 > 0:23:36The most important because it's the next one,

0:23:36 > 0:23:39but when you are coming off a three-game skid, especially

0:23:39 > 0:23:42the manner in which those games were lost, to close this one out,

0:23:42 > 0:23:44albeit a little shaky, but to close it out is a great

0:23:44 > 0:23:46feeling and a big one for us.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49So a good win for the Jets and here are the rest

0:23:49 > 0:23:52of the week nine fixtures.

0:23:52 > 0:23:53Several to pick out.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00First of all, let's look at Atlanta at Carolina,

0:24:00 > 0:24:02which given the argument you had earlier in the show,

0:24:02 > 0:24:03it could continue.

0:24:06 > 0:24:08A big game for both teams.

0:24:08 > 0:24:09Huge game, divisional match up.

0:24:09 > 0:24:16Both teams have to win.

0:24:16 > 0:24:18Carolina, I love that home-field advantage.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20I think they're going to make this happen.

0:24:20 > 0:24:20So you're going Carolina?

0:24:20 > 0:24:22Got to.

0:24:22 > 0:24:23And I'm guessing you won't.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25You know what this is, Mark?

0:24:25 > 0:24:26The dirty bird.

0:24:26 > 0:24:27The dance.

0:24:27 > 0:24:28You know that?

0:24:28 > 0:24:30Yes, because you told me it before.

0:24:30 > 0:24:31Just wondering.

0:24:31 > 0:24:33Do it again.

0:24:33 > 0:24:35It's the dirty bird.

0:24:35 > 0:24:36Just like that.

0:24:36 > 0:24:37Old-school dance.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39There it is!

0:24:39 > 0:24:44Do not try to out-dance me!

0:24:44 > 0:24:47New Orleans, Tampa Bay next.

0:24:47 > 0:24:54Both teams have been a surprise for different reasons.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58Nobody expected the Bucs to be as bad as they are and nobody

0:24:58 > 0:25:00expected the Saints to be five and two.

0:25:00 > 0:25:02You know Drew Brees is going to light it up.

0:25:02 > 0:25:03Their defense has been a problem.

0:25:03 > 0:25:05That is where they have figured it out.

0:25:05 > 0:25:10They are playing well on defense.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13They figure things out at the back and they are communicating better.

0:25:13 > 0:25:14Their defense is playing well.

0:25:14 > 0:25:17This is a trap game for New Orleans Saints.

0:25:17 > 0:25:18Tampa Bay is a desperate football team.

0:25:18 > 0:25:19The wounded lion.

0:25:19 > 0:25:21A team that has to win this game.

0:25:21 > 0:25:24I think Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to win this game.

0:25:24 > 0:25:26Because it's a must win for the Bucs.

0:25:26 > 0:25:27The Saints have leeway.

0:25:27 > 0:25:28Exactly.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30The Buccaneers have to win this game.

0:25:30 > 0:25:31This is a team with tremendous pride.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34I think they will come out on top of this game.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37Another divisional game to look at in the north and bearing in mind

0:25:37 > 0:25:40when we did the predictions, you had Minnesota flying in this

0:25:40 > 0:25:41division and these two teams gone.

0:25:41 > 0:25:43Both have not...

0:25:43 > 0:25:46Green Bay are four and three, so it seems daft to say they have

0:25:46 > 0:25:48not quite fired but the Rodgers thing has

0:25:48 > 0:25:50taken the wind out of their sails.

0:25:50 > 0:25:51I mean that was their catalyst.

0:25:51 > 0:25:52He is their guy.

0:25:52 > 0:25:53Losing him changed everything.

0:25:53 > 0:25:55I think there are problems at Detroit.

0:25:55 > 0:25:56Why? Where?

0:25:56 > 0:25:58I think in the locker room something is going on.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01Jim Caldwell made a comment about the discipline.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03You don't see coaches saying things like that,

0:26:03 > 0:26:05like they're losing control of their players.

0:26:05 > 0:26:06Something is happening over there.

0:26:06 > 0:26:14But you could not put your finger on what?

0:26:14 > 0:26:15Something is not right.

0:26:15 > 0:26:16I think the quarterback is very inconsistent.

0:26:16 > 0:26:19Matthew Stafford, who has all the talent in the world.

0:26:19 > 0:26:20And all the money in the world.

0:26:20 > 0:26:23Just has not been able to put it together this season

0:26:23 > 0:26:25like he was doing towards the end of last year.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27The Green Bay Packers obviously struggling

0:26:27 > 0:26:28without their quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31I think this is a game the Detroit Lions must win

0:26:31 > 0:26:32and they will win this game.

0:26:32 > 0:26:37What Stafford was doing last season was he was rescuing them

0:26:37 > 0:26:41in the fourth quarter comebacks and you can only do that so long

0:26:41 > 0:26:43before time catches up.

0:26:43 > 0:26:44Unless you're Aaron Rodgers.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47Yes.

0:26:47 > 0:26:50What he is not doing well is he is not doing well

0:26:50 > 0:26:51inside the 20, inside the red zone.

0:26:51 > 0:26:54It seems between the 20-yard lines he is doing well.

0:26:54 > 0:26:55He's not scoring points.

0:26:55 > 0:26:56You have gone for?

0:26:56 > 0:26:57I've gone Detroit, this game.

0:26:57 > 0:26:58And you have gone?

0:26:58 > 0:26:59Have to go Green Bay.

0:26:59 > 0:27:00Because he went Detroit?

0:27:00 > 0:27:03Right, let's end with the highs and lows from this week.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05Look out at the gloves in all of this.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07Did not necessarily help Travis Benjamin,

0:27:07 > 0:27:08who dropped that punt.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09And then went backwards.

0:27:09 > 0:27:13And got tackled by the Patriots for a safety.

0:27:13 > 0:27:17Robbie Anderson had that spectacular catch.

0:27:17 > 0:27:18Played well this year.

0:27:18 > 0:27:19He can run.

0:27:19 > 0:27:20And catch.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23Look at that for a hit.

0:27:23 > 0:27:28That's what we call coming downhill.

0:27:28 > 0:27:30He did not even stop stride at all, man.

0:27:30 > 0:27:32Diggs on Antonio.

0:27:32 > 0:27:37Will Fuller beating Richard Sherman for this

0:27:37 > 0:27:42touchdown in the Texans-Seahawks

0:27:42 > 0:27:42game.

0:27:42 > 0:27:44He got two interceptions.

0:27:44 > 0:27:53He got two picks.

0:27:53 > 0:27:55He got beat a lot.

0:27:55 > 0:27:57Whilst they argue we will show the highs and lows.

0:27:57 > 0:27:59George Kittle's one-handed snagged against the Eagles and Sanu's diving

0:27:59 > 0:28:01game-winning catch for the Falcons against the Jets.

0:28:01 > 0:28:05A pumped-up celebration, as well.

0:28:05 > 0:28:06He used to wear gold cleats.

0:28:06 > 0:28:07I did.

0:28:07 > 0:28:09He looked fresh, I give you that.

0:28:09 > 0:28:11And here are some other good celebrations.

0:28:11 > 0:28:12I like that.

0:28:12 > 0:28:13That was at Twickenham.

0:28:13 > 0:28:14The bench-press celebration.

0:28:14 > 0:28:18They work on them, don't they?

0:28:18 > 0:28:20Those guys are making it fun.

0:28:20 > 0:28:26And they are winning.

0:28:43 > 0:28:47Before you know it, the halfway point of the regular season.

0:28:47 > 0:28:48Eight games to go.

0:28:48 > 0:28:49Eight stepping stones.
